Donations: how these aspects work, after all?

Hi,

I'm trying to get my mind around the Donations concept. I know the basics, but some aspects elude me. Does anybody know if:

- Requesting several smaller favors has the same effect of asking for a bigger one? (i.e. 100 favor points + 100 f.p. + 100 f.p = 300 f.p. all in one go shave off the same complexive learning time or not?)

- If you are already speed learning a skill due to a former favor, will a second favor shave some more time, or is it a wasted effort?

- If you exceed your daily donation points maximum you don't get any additional xp. That's fine by me. But if you keep donating will your available favor points go up anyway, or will they remain the same?

  • 1.   Pretty sure yes.  How much it takes off is determined by if the giant is primary, secondary, or unaffiliated.
    2.  Yes, up to a point.  I shaved 1 out of 4 days off BL 5 so I think there is a cap around 25% but I'm not sure exactly how that works.
    3.  Yes, up to a point.  If it says your maximum is 1,100 to get an emblem, then you can only donate 1,100 favour points to that giant per game day regardless of xp.  If you get the emblem then it increases by 100.  I have several emblem of Lems so I can donate 1,500 per game day I think.

  • For the second, it will shave the listed time off entirely, like normal. Each skill can only have so much time shaved off of it though, and if I recall correctly, this is determined by the giant's affinity for the skill.

An example: You want to slash time on better learning 5. Lem is the giant with the primary alignment, so his total allowance of time reduced is greater than any other if he is the *only* giant you're donating too.

I have no idea if it is a wise idea to donate to the primary giant last if you're doing a bunch of giant donations to shave off time or not. It would depend on if the maximum removed time is set based on the total duration of the skill, or the time remaining in the skill. More testing is required.

  • 1. when you have better learning, there are some quest explaining this, but I don't know if it works without BL. You learn faster with favor points from the primary giant of the skill and spending a little less than a thousand favor points at once
    2. there is a maximun, so at some point, you won't be able to spend more favor points for learning
    3. it's a waste on xp, the day lasts 4 hours, so I prefer to wait till the next day

  • From my experience, it works like this:

Every favor point spent learning will double your learning speed for the next X seconds (if you are already at double learning speed, it will add to that time), where X equals:

5 for unaffiliated giants for that skill
7 for secondary giants for that skill
10 for the primary giant for that skill

The maximum of favor spent is the amount needed so that you are learning at double learning speed until the skill is learned.

  • The cap for reducing learning time is about 50% of adjusted total learning time (ie, after better learning/penalties). It's shared between favour reductions (no matter the giant), and food reductions (Pungent Sunrise, Yellow Crumb). Once you reach the 50% reduction, you can no longer use any method to reduce the amount of learning time remaining.

RE: food reductions. These work by instantly removing the stated time off your remaining time. The countdown exists solely so you only use one of each at a time (drinking multiple sunrises at once still only removes 90 seconds, wasting the bonus from that unit).

  • Another thing to keep in mind is that once you start speed learning skill A via favor, you cannot resume speed learning skill A if you stop and switch to skill B.
