Buying Indulgences, or The Pain of Donating to Giants

*
One of the things I noticed after learning to create Hallowed Shrine powder and attempting to get 997 favour points with Cosma who was chief of the skill I was learning, was just how restrictive the donation interface is for us on  the outside.

For example after a long day collecting meat, I had 547 pieces in my bags and wanted to donate about 320 to the Shrine in question (3 *320 => 960 favour with our Cosma under the influence of aforementioned powder.)

Unfortunately I had a choice of 1, 10, 20, 30, or all.  None of which was the number I needed/wanted to give.

The various crafting dialogs have the ability to highlight and replace the numbers with our own keyboard entries or to use the plus or minus increment/decrement.   I would love to have an option to type in my choice of numbers for favouring my favourite (at the moment) Giant.

Could those Giants be persuaded that our lowly glitchy souls would love more flexibility in our gift giving?

PS:  Board mods could we please have some basic HTML formatting tags like <br /> available?  That's why I started the first line with a splat so the title and text aren't smooshed together.  If they are available a direction point would be appreciated.

  • I've seen this brought up before in the Ideas forum, and I fully support it. I would love to have this option! I found I waste a lot of shrine powder mojo with such low denominations.

  • Yes, it is oft-requested. We will make that quantity picker widget better AND allow you to enter arbitrary amounts or my name's not Stoot Barfield!

  • Give less then use 1 favour point items to carefully work up to the target - beers, eggs etc.

  • If you don't mind standing waist-deep in meat, you can drop everything you don't want to donate, then cleanly donate all, under the influence.

  • Biff - has a good suggestion ... Thats what I do, drop the excesses so I can only donate the amount I want... The only worry/problem is ensuring some random glitch doesnt come along & pick it up & leave b4 u can type stop.... (although finding a street with noone on it helps)

  • I heartily agree with this thread. I accidentally went over the 997 mark and got an emblem, so I had to start ALL OVER AGAIN. Very annoying.

  • Like others, I drop the ore (or whatever) that I don't want to donate. It can be a pain if I'm in a mood to be exact - so to get 583 ore put 10 stacks of 50 ore in my "donate" bag, drop a stack of 50, pick up 30 put in the donate bag , pick up 3 & put in the donate bag, sprinkle shrine powder, drop the bags of ore I'm not donating, donate all the ore I'm holding, pick up the bag, move on to the next shrine. rinse & repeat. I've never had anyone pick up the stuff I've dropped, but I have waited until the area clears if I'm dropping a bunch of full bags and there are folks I don't know lurking in the shadows. Not that it matters much - they're not on the ground for long and, really, it's just a bunch of virtual nothingness :)

  • I also feel this particular pain when I'm feeding piggies to get seedpacks out of their plops. Once you have more than, say, 20 of a type of veggie, "3" disappears from your menu.

I recall this coming up before and the devs saying it was a known issue that was absolutely under development with improvements planned. In my ignorance of the Bigger Picture, I <em>do</em> wish improving the donate/feed/give interface were a higher priority. From the player's point of view, it's a near-constant ordeal.
