Serious Routes

Tired of loading home street after home street for only a handful of disorganized resources? Are you spending more time searching for those few trees you're after than you are actually harvesting them? If you're serious about gathering resources, Serious Routes are for you.

Serious Routes mandate a minimum of 12 units of the route type, and most of our members have the maximum possible (e.g. 15 for trees). This means less loading, less searching, and more harvesting. Simply put, you get more, faster.

We are currently accepting members to all routes listed on the site. Our tree routes use the top sign and our other routes use the bottom, so as to allow members to also participate in the corresponding HRR routes (which use the opposite). If you're interested in joining a route, please contact the route's curator.

And if you're interested in curating, joining, or just using a Serious Route that doesn't exist yet, let us know!

edit: You can find the new Serious Routes thread here: http://www.glitch.com/forum/offtopic/23804/

  • Never mind I think I see now what happened. I started with tis but thought LX was next but I should have gone to Pineapple instead. Heh.

  • larky lion: I haven't heard that concern raised until now, and actually, we were planning on going the opposite direction by encouraging and even subsidizing animals for our members in an effort to make all our routes de facto Serious Animal Routes as well. If anyone else has issues with animal-induced lag, please speak up!

CleverCharacterName: I admire Boom's work on the gas route site and would not object at all if he wanted to share any of his code, but we are working on a site that will be, dare I say, even better than that :)

fauxfire: Serious Routes use the top sign. As of this post, every link on the Serious Spice Route is working properly.

  • I've got the lag too, Lx. I'm inclined to agree with Larky lion. For efficiency's sake we should consider being animal-free or at least animal-lite home streets. Just my .02

  • Is animal lag a serious issue for most serious harvesters? Or are most serious harvesters also serious chicken spammers and serious butterfly singers? Your input will help us design the best kind of serious route for all your serious needs.

  • For those that find there are "too many" routes -- you do know that if you have the URL for their home street, you can instantly, for free, from most everywhere, port over to any selected home street, right?

I keep a certain one open in another tab, and just port over as needed. I have a list (I don't like using browser favorites) of the spice / bean / pig etc street I like the most.

Edit: my opinion - if you put out animals, be sure to set sticks up for easy keyboard spamming. Please oh please let the piggies spread out! And mostly one type of animal would help with lag, but if the street owner feels like max animals then I think they should be allowed to do so.

  • +1 to keeping the routes critter-lite or critter-free...the less lag the better, esp when street-jumping, imho.
Posted 6 months ago by KitchWitch Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Animal lag isn't too bad for me, but I also don't typically interact with animals. If some lag builds up, it goes away when I refresh.

Funnily, though, I've been on Lx's street twice and have had flash crash upon entry both times. I'm not sure what sets that one apart from all other streets which have the same configuration of trees and animals, but don't make flash crash out completely even if they do cause some lag. Weird coincidence, I think? :P

Anyhow. Even when flash crashes, it's still just a matter of a quick reload. So animals don't bother me! (Of course, once I'm linked up, I'd be happy to keep my street animal-free or animal-full depending on what's decided here.)

  • I think this is a great idea, and will probably start using these routes instead! Unfortunately, I've already invested quite a bit of imagination in having 2 different resources to be on 2 routes, so I can't join.

And I find that I do sometimes lag (quite significantly) if a home street has a lot of every animal. It also becomes annoying if the animals keep getting in the way of harvesting. So I'd prefer if homeowners would exercise moderation in their animal-keeping.

  • I ran both routes (gas & spice) last night, the animals don't bother me for tree based resources, sometimes I even squeeze/nibble a few. When I go to animal heavy streets (*cough*Lx) and get lag, when I leave, I refresh.

But, when you get rock based resources, I would love to see those streets /without/ free range animals. I went down part of one of the HRR rock routes last night and didn't get far because, as a keyboard user, I was wasting earthshaker time avoiding animals that roamed everywhere. Yes, I am aware I can use my mouse, but prefer to use keyboard. I know I'm not alone in that.

  • Bunnykins: We absolutely share your sentiments. As of the moment, we're leaving the decision of whether or not to have animals to individual street owners, but we'll be encouraging the use of animal sticks if there are, and almost certainly requiring them on rock routes when those exist. Like many here, I started out as a miner, so I know full well animals and rocks don't mix!

  • If any member of SRs need animal sticks, send me or Lx a message. We have lots!

  • All tree routes are now live and open to new members! The only requirement is at least 12 trees of the route type. To join a route, contact the route's curator as listed on seriousroutes.com.

  • Casting a vote for "NON tree routes"!

I have fifteen sparkly rocks.  Piggies are "stuck", as are the butterflies and both are set to "wide" for easier spamming.  I don't have too many animals, so if you find it laggy, please leave me a note if you stop by to mine :)  If animals need to be eliminated, I'm all for that as well because I'd also like to see ROCK routes as well as ANIMAL routes too soon.  Great ideas!!

  • yes non tree i have all dirt :D

  • I want to join the serious sparkly route if there is going to be any. But I dont need to be the curator...and I am putting those 12 to 15 rocks on my street when I know there is going to be such a route ;-) (not earlier). So if scroobienoob is interested in the job as curator..I will join and put them into my street :D

  • I would love to curate a Jellisac route. Anyone else have a lot of Jellisacs? (working on adding them to my street now).

I've been waiting for this to happen, I knew someone would make these routes eventually. I will put my pets on sticks/release a lot of them too, to make my street more efficient.

  • Regarding requirements for non-tree Serious Routes: For the sake of simplicity, I am tentatively declaring a minimum of 12 units for all resources but garden plots. In the case of jellisac and barnacles, this means 12 growths/pods placed, for a total of 36 individual jellisac/barnacles.

I am open to suggestion on what the minimum requirement should be for potential Serious Herb/Crop Routes.

  • Firstly, massive thanks to Tis & LX for their work on the routes :) & thanks for putting me on the serious spice route.

Have to say that I agree 100% with larkylion regarding experiencing lag caused by too many animals - personally, I would prefer the serious routes to be animal free to minimise lag, but thats just my opinion. I currently have 5 piggies on my street but did say to Tis that I am more than happy to remove them.
Posted 6 months ago by Milly21 Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yeah, looking also for a route that doesn't have animals. I just can't harvest from trees with all the lag.

  • ippa: You should get in touch with Rosty and Jurkowski to see if they'd be interested in joining you! Two's company, three's a route :)

Also, Serious Sparkly is now live! As a reminder, our non-tree routes will be using the bottom sign, opposite HRR.

15 bubble trees - but I do have animals

  • Just curious, how serious are the daily home street iMG advantages?
Posted 6 months ago by bumblepuppy Subscriber! | Permalink
  • They are not large. A couple of hundred extra, that's all.

I'm about halfway on the Bubble route in HRR and get on average about 1100 from my rock but my floor that I would get without visitor interaction is 950 ish

It is also capped at 3000 iMG

That would not be a good reason for joining

  • I'd like to join the serious bean route. I have 12 trees, will probably add more as I get more imagination (I'm a total spendthrift with that stuff!), and currently have no animals out there. I'm not totally clear what I need to do to join, is posting here enough or do I need to message someone as well?
