Request: Clothes for currants

Yeah so, more of a request than an idea and quite possibly one that has been made before, but: Could we get some clothes that can be bought for currants? I'm finding myself having money in game and nothing to really spend it on, which is pretty much the exact opposite of my RL situation. Would be nice to have more purpose for the currants, because once you have a house and the big bags and everything you can buy off of vendors, what else is there?

Also, while I'm at it: Furniture. *Nods*

  • I'd really like to buy clothes for currants.

  • Problem: Subscribers have access to certain clothes that non-subscribers do not, using actual money. Will this idea combine with that? I wouldn't mind if trees or rocks tossed out a t-shirt while harvesting/mining, but to have a clothes store in-game seems like it would just confuse the actual clothing store.

  • How about a tailoring skill for glitchen to MAKE clothes?

  • I disagree. Clothes are one of the only subscriber/credit features. If we took away TS's revenue from clothes, they would have to offer completely different things for credits/subscribers, which would probably include giving them advantages that would be unfair to non-subscribers.

  • I'm not saying let Glitchen make AWESOME clothes.
And @Effigy, of course, I don't want TS to have to lay anyone off.
    Just an idea.

  • I like the idea of being able to buy some clothes for currants - other games manage similar clashes with RL money by making the cost in game money (hence time) rather high - people are only too happy to supplement game currency with hard cash if it short-cuts a load of game-graft, but it'd be nice for those who've amassed fortunes in currants to be able to buy some of the clothes etc. Perhaps clothes-for-currants could be a subscriber-only feature, in fact - the token allowances are rather modest for the cheaper subs.

  • I have to disagree with a clothes for currants.

  • I agree on this, and you would have to pay a lot of currants, which I think is fair. After all, the clothes cost credits which is bought with real money.

  • I like the idea of adding clothing as a skill tree.  Add bunnies to harvest for fiber, use carpentry to build a loom to make cloth, tinker scissors and needles from metal, and then tailor clothes.

  • I think its a good idea to craft some clothes.
also how about jewelry! rings! earrings ! necklaces! with all the gems and metal and such.
I would love to wear a tiara and be a princess for a day. Especially on my birthday.
specialty items can be bought only by subscribers. you have to be a subscriber to have this skill.

  • TS has stated over and over again that they will never allow RL money to have any impact on in-game abilities.  If some people could grind in-game to get the things that other people could buy with RL money, the game would quickly become one of Spend RL Money To Be More Awesomer.

They aren't going in that direction.

    (2) once you go down that route, it'd be almost impossible to avoid designing all game mechanics around the "wait 24 hours or pay now" idea and we wanted the game to be different :)

  • I like the idea, but think that subscribers should continue to be offered clothing / accessory items that are subscription-only.

So, five types of clothes: Free for anyone, Clothing for credits that anyone can buy, Free for subscribers only, Clothing for credits that only subscribers can buy, then (new) Clothing buyable with currants.

  • I agree with Loreli. It might be a little confusing at first, but if you add filters to the wardrobe page so you can view JUST currant clothing, JUST subscriber-only clothing, etc. it would make it a bit easier.
And currant clothing should be quite expensive. In this way even subscribers and well-off cash-splashers might have to save up currants in-game for certain items, whilst for other items you still need to pay TS.

  • I like being able to recognize subscribers by their clothes.

I vote against clothes for currents.

  • I don't know they would implement something that might demotivate people to subscribe... What would be the point of that?

  • Another problem with player-designed clothing is copyright/intellectual property. You would have to sign away your rights to further use of the design, *and* it would have to be reviewed by TS staff to make sure it's not copied in whole or in part from some other source (i.e. I copied Darth Vader's armor).

  • I agree with Lorelei, there could be 5 tiers of clothing. Some of us don't have real life money to spend on credits or subscriptions but we'd like access to some awesome clothes too! Five tiers of clothing prices would allow for everyone to have more variety and on which to spend gobs of currants, while also not taking away revenue from TS.

  • I get that microtransactions are buttering TS' bread right now, but it really would be nice if there was something we could do in-game to gain a few credits.

For instance, I want 5 more credits. Just 5. Only 5, ever. I have no plans to spend money on this game - I have a strict policy of never paying subscription fees to a time-sink. But just by being present in the game world, we purely-free players are creating value for TS by populating it and helping to create interactions with players who are paying customers.

It'd be cool if I could somehow get my 5 credits without having to spend money on them, because let's be honest - flipping 15 credits to their free players every three months won't lose them any players who otherwise would have paid - but it might keep players around who otherwise would've moved on.
