Tips for Earning iMG

I pay attention to how people reach my blog, but it's rare that I see a search term pop up repeatedly over a short period of time.  Lately, that's been happening with variants of "how do I earn iMG more quickly?"  I thought about doing a post on the topic, but it's probably too late to help those people, so figured a forum post might be a better alternative.

So post your tips for earning iMG.  In some cases, it might be good to note whether your tip is useful in the early game or only for the bittervets.

  • Pretty much everything you do earns some iMG.  The fastest way to get it is to go where the quoins are.   Roobrik and Balzare are good for quoins and many of them are for iMG.  It shouldn't take too long to rack up a good amount of iMG in those locations and it doesn't matter what level you are.  Anyone can collect.

You can fall down The Drop and pick up a nice bit of iMG especially if you are adept at moving back and forth a bit to collect all the iMG.  Again, anyone can get these quoins but they won't give you a lot of iMG so continue through the Caverns and Deeps to collect more and be sure to try for the high iMG quoin in Nandak but you need to get there at the right time as there are often "campers" waiting for it to spawn and sometimes even a Portal.

In short, learn where the quoins are and go there often.  Quoins are the fastest, easiest way to get iMG and any player can grab them.

ETA:  Don't forget to collect iMG from your Icons daily!  It may take new players a while to create the Icons.

  • Take advantage of the food bonuses. Especially if you cook anyway. Also, don't forget that you get random Qurazy Quoins from wandering the world, even places you've been already.

  • I usually start my day by reflecting on all icons, then I like to visit the AL before I go to Balzare. While I'm in the AL I concentrate on only grabbing iMG quoins while avoiding all others. I do this until my time runs out, and then head to Balzare/Roobrik, where I try to get max quoin limit. While in both of these places, make sure you keep your mood at 100%

  • My best advice for new people is - interact with everything, and, if you have the skills to make it, make it yourself. Don't buy it. The more you actually do, the more you earn. Collect quoins, donate, "verb" your emblems, "verb" icons as you encounter them (include tithe sometimes, as a courtesy to the people who leave them in public for you). Visit Roobrik and Balzare often.

As you get higher in level, those "location" upgrade cards pay off, big time. Not terribly practical as a newbie, when every drop of iMG is needed for something or other, but as you get more skilled and aren't spending iMG as fast as you can make it, the cards are great.

  • You can make things like seasoned beans, but need to have the skill for that; perhaps one of the easiest ways to increase IMG is to donate. If you have the skills and can make shrine powder you can increase your donation value. Remember though a large donation of a single item might reward you with a free ticket for a spin.

  • Quoins!Maximize the benefit you get from quoins by:
    1) Grabbing only iMG (and currant) quoins
    2) Maxing out your quoins every game day, and expand your quoin grab by upgrading your max amount via upgrade cards and using elixir of avarice to bump your max
    3) Upgrade your quoin multiplier with the goal to max it out! In the beginning, it seems like the quoin multiplier is a waste of iMG, but it's not. The quoin multiplier will bump up your daily iMG to insane amounts.
    Donate!
    Donating to shrines = iMG
I like to donate seasoned beans and gems
    Make seasoned beans
Collecting the items necessary and the actual making of seasoned beans yields a ton of iMG. You can sell them to the tool vendor for currants, or donate them for more iMG.

  • Seasoning beans is a great way to grind out iMG, but you need a big energy tank to make it all that effective, along with Aborology 5.

Quions don't really start stoking the iMG furnace until you have a 20x multiplier.

So, if you don't have a fat tank & multiplier, the fastest way I find to get iMG is nibbling pigs. With AK7 each pig is worth 48 iMG, costing 8 energy, and netting a least 8 meat. The meat can be eaten as you get low on energy. Buy buns, and the meat becomes sammiches (with iMG for crafting), and nets 5c or so just selling the sammiches back to the grocery vnedor. If you don't need the currants, shovel the sammiches into the nearest shrine, 13 or so at a time [assuming shrine powder] for nice iMG, and good odds at gameshow tickets. Donate / sell the prizes for more iMG / currants!

  • Surprised no one has mentioned these yet...

Eat 3 purple snocones each day - over 1800 iMG

Do one of the crab runs with the crabato booster - typically gets around 1000-2000 iMG for four of the six crabs, sometimes more, sometimes less. Not to mention about 2000-4000 currants.

  • 1.) Icons
    2.) Emblems
    3.) Giant donations
    4.) Piggies
    5.) Quoins -- Ticketed areas
    6.) Quoins -- Ancestral lands
7.) Quoins -- Roobrik and Balzare
8.) Quoins -- big quoin streets
9.) Qurazy Quoins (sp?) -- visiting tons of streets
10.) Playing the Crab music (money and quoins!)
11.) Making sure to check your magic rock each day

    That's my strategy anyway. :)

    p.s. I love quoins.

  • 1. Get your coin multiplier upgrades.
    2. Do your daily coin limit.
    3. go to Ancestral Lands.
    4. But I found that the best way to earn a lot of IMG (especially if your coin upgrade is high), is to do the Upgrade Ticket places. Those coins do not count toward your daily coin limit, so you can do hundreds of those IMG places each day. You will also get energy, currant & Favor  coins in those.
    5. You can also do the basements in the abandoned Apartment buildings. Remember where the big IMG coin is in each place  and only take that one and the high currant one. Some basements have 2 high IMG coins. Those coins will count towards your daily coin limit.

  • @ baybiglch:
    • Hakusan Heaps Towers in Muufo
    • Hauki Seeks Manor in Bortola
    • Sabudana Drama Towers in Aranna
    • Egret Taun Towers in Besara
    • Gregarious Grange in Groddle Meadow
You need keys to enter the basements, most of them you will find in the Towers themselves on the other floors. They spawn at different times. But a lot of glitchens sell them at their towers or on the Auction House

  • I rack up iMG each game day by reflecting on all my icons, getting it from my magic rock, eating 3 purple sno cones (1980 iMG total), collecting Qurazy Quoins and other high iMG quoins in a few select locations, replaying the "A Summer's Day" and "Le Miserable" quests, playing the Upgrades mini games, petting and nibbling piggies (48 iMG each for me if my mood is high), massaging and milking butterflies (48 iMG also if the mood is high), and then donating the spoils at shrines with EHSP. Oh yes, and playing music blocks for all six crabs while in a crab state of mind. Whew!

  • You can play each of your music boxes for varying amounts of iMG. Typically I get 110 each play, and have something like 24. The new conch is great for that as well, since it's essentially a music box with a different sprite.

I do a lot of gardening and tree harvesting, so I get a good amount of Glitch game components (swf, flash, whatever the other one is). You can squeeze iMG out of them for about 30 each.
