Nyeh saving wood trees I am just going to play now

OK I am done now spending time and currants on replanting wood trees in Wickdoon Mood and re-reporting the SAME PLAYER who poisons wood trees in Wickdoon Mood and getting the SAME RESPONSE that poisoning trees is not against the rules but they will "be aware" of future reports concerning the SAME PLAYER.

And when the SAME PLAYER on Easter Sunday poisons egg trees and digs up the patches to keep ppl from replanting, and gets caught in action (he likes to do this secretly) and gets reported again and again the staff response is that poisoning trees is not against the rules but they will "be aware" of future reports concerning the SAME PLAYER. You know what, "Glitch support", if you had already been aware of past reports of the SAME PLAYER, you could have spared much unhappiness to manyglitchen.

So now Wickdoon Mood is four bubble trees. You know what? This is no longer MY PROBLEM. I am not going to spend currants buying poison or making wood beans and Fertilidust. Because "Glitch support" has made it clear that what they support is the right of a single griefer to make other people unhappy as long as he cleverly manages not to break any "rules." OK maybe I should not have had two martinis, but I am annoyed and besides I would rather play with my nice new house than fight any more.

  • You know, there's no difference between someone who insists on having 4 wood trees in wickdoon mood and someone who insists on having 4 bubble trees in wickdoon mood.  Absolutely no difference.

  • Poisoning trees is not against the rules.

Y'know what I don't like? People who mine only sparkly. Its annoying cause I can never find a sparkly rock when I want. I want the staff to do something about it!

You know who I think are griefers? People who go on the forum to bitch about tree wars.

You're a nice person, and I know you have your opinions...
    But...
What WalruZ said is my opinion.

  • Hey. I have been planting 3 not 4 wood trees in w Mood.

but I am tired and crabby so just discount my opinion, whatever.

Thanks and hugs Palindrome for thinking I am a nice person anyway.

And to all those who plan to follow up on the theme that anybody who complains about anything the forums is EEEEVIL, go jump in the lake. How is your complaint about me morally superior to my complaint about other something?

  • Oh my. Seriously?

  • Vocable, just don't fight it. Let them have it. They only want to piss you off, and trying to push back gives them a reason to do it again. I think you're nice, too. Honestly, I don't really care about the Trees. Have you ever talked to them and asked nicely to stop, by the way? I think that might help, or at least ask them to plant 2 Trees of what they want, and 2 Trees of what you want.

  • The second paragraph sounds to be close to on the edge of what's allowed, honestly. During the egg hunt? That's not very nice at all!

No opinion on the rest ;) None at all. Don't need to talk about that again xD

  • amen and hugs to Liza, I agree. Don't need to talk about this again.

  • Hugs, Vocable.  I think all the new housing stuff is improving the natural ecosystem for wood trees.

  • But... so what if there's bubble trees? I really don't understand tree politics in this game. Seriously, let it go.

  • (( hugs )) to Vocable.  I understand your frustration and I'm sorry that's getting you so upset.

  • I'm with you, Vocable. And I have a pretty good idea which SAME PLAYER you're talking about!

  • Once you have the que sera sera attitude about it, no one will touch the wood trees. Get into a Zen mind. Meditate using your orb and walk away from the control. Once you do, you no longer give attention to the one who wants to change it because you won't care either way. Then they won't care and you'll have wood trees galore.

  • I get far more bothered by the killing of trees, or replacing with paper trees in East & West Spice right now. Other streets i don't care so much about, but those *say* spice, I'd expect to be able to find my spice there.

  • It was nice to have the Wickdoon Woods, so thank you to all players who tried to keep a few wood trees there. Now we can have our own wood trees and the need for planks is far greater. I hope the tree strife evaporates. The new housing is lovely!

  • And that is why you have your own yard! Have what YOU want, do what YOU want to it. It is up to you if you let people in to garden.

But as glitch is an online multiplayer game, people could poison every tree if they wanted, dig up every tree if they wanted!! It is up to them. You can report and report, but in the terms of use or the community guidelines, nothing states you can't do that!! Just enjoy the game for what it is, not trying to be the one who has to fix all the trees, moniter the rocks, or stop community planting and harvesting crops!
I suggest that all of you complaining and reporting people, to and read the guidelines, and listen to the staffs responses!

(If anyone can link to the guidelines, thanks, I am on my phone and can't get them.)

  • Just for the record, you can't "replace" anything with paper trees.  The only people who can plant a paper tree are staff.

  • And now that we have enchanted wood tree forests, shouldn't the Wickdoon Wars be over? Let Wickdoon be any tree?
ETA: The admirable purpose of Wickdoon was to always have wood trees for players that needed them, but now there will always be a place to find wood trees. So, Wickdoon is obsolete.
Posted 8 months ago by Fernstream Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Obsolete is a terrrible word.

    If you think about it.

    Wickdoon has:
    -Wood Trees for planks
-A dirt patch for Urth blocks
    -A metal rock for ingots

I have more to add to this but I want to keep it to myself for the time being.
Posted 8 months ago by Rook Subscriber! | Permalink
  • There are much better places for people to get wood than Wickdoon.  Whatever noble purpose was being put forth to explain why those particular four patches in all of Ur had to be wood, the purpose no longer exists.

Anyone who wants to argue that Wickdoon has to still be all wood is simply demonstrating that the issue was always who got to control the patches, not making sure there was a supply of wood.

    As was said above;
You know, there's no difference between someone who insists on having 4 wood trees in wickdoon mood and someone who insists on having 4 bubble trees in wickdoon mood.  Absolutely no difference.

And there's no difference between those folks and someone who insists that it be 2 and 2.  Trying to declare what trees will be allowed to be planted in any particular patch is just someone trying to tell the rest of the players how to use that resource.

Anyone who wants to declare ahead of time what use "should" be made of patches on a street is not helping anyone have a nicer experience. They are deliberately creating conflict.   If you want to make the world nicer, fix up your own yard for others to  use.  But don't start telling everyone else what use 'ought' to be made of a public street.
Posted 8 months ago by WindBorn Subscriber! | Permalink
  • There would never have been a conflict at all on Wickdoon if those planting wood just planted it when it wasn't there and did not make a big deal about it, did not demand it still be there when they come back.  Not that I had any sympathy for those killing the trees -- I found their justifications absurd and often a result of being angry at a wood preserver and imagining that attitude coming from the entire group rather than just the person it came from.  And I truly believe at least some that helped maintained the wood believed it provided a service.

It doesn't provide a service anymore that isn't easily provided in a few dozen other places.  I wouldn't hesitate to use the word obsolete.  Actually, even before the forests, with HRR, players could hit 4 wood trees after visiting only two streets.  After imagination hits and the roads reform, it's quite possible a player could find 8 or more on a single street.  Even without HRR, every newbie will have a house, and patches do not cost much imagination.  Send the new players a wood tree bean if they can't find a wood tree. There really is no compelling reason to maintain it, and especially no reason to fight to maintain it.

But, for old times' sake, if you feel like poisoning some trees and replanting wood, have at it.  That's fair anywhere and anytime.

  • I just wanted to compliment that it wasn't completely obsolete, but won't disagree with the other points mentioned above. The incentive to "preserve" it, is.
Posted 8 months ago by Rook Subscriber! | Permalink
  • That's what I meant by obsolete: the "wood tree preserve" is obsolete, not the street itself. It has a dirt patch and a metal rock, but that doesn't mean it needs wood trees- there are dirt patches and metal rocks elsewhere too. I also have a bit of a suspicion that staff was trying to resolve the Wickdoon conflict, but that's just my little guess.
Posted 8 months ago by Fernstream Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I support Fernstream's theory.

And for that matter, isn't the whole thing about us having our own street resolve all tree wars?
Posted 8 months ago by Papa Legba Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'm so glad that's the end of the tree wars and the resource routes arguments. All a bit silly really and just a bit greedy too in my opinion. I've never run out of anything and never needed millions of planks either, still each to their own.
btw if you want loads of planks, try the old housing area in Patchouli Preamble in Muufo. It's nearly completely deserted and has (I haven't been for a month or two - I guess I've got enough stuff!) about 4+ wood trees on every block.

  • Honestly, the poisoning egg trees during the egg hunt?
Yah, the person is a jackass.  Also, doing crap like this to get a rise out of people.

I have a feeling I know exactly who it is because I've dealt with them in the past.  They do it just to do it and be a jerk.

Hopefully, they can't poison all the wood trees in the new areas, otherwise that's going to be rough on everyone.

  • OMG QQ!!!! Wow. I *cannot believe* people are still on about tree wars. First off, if staff told you it wasn't against the rules in the first place, then you were just wasting their time each time you reported them again for the same "offense". secondly, I totally agree with the first comment - you wanting 4 wood trees is just as bad as someone wanting 4 bubble trees. Public space, design of the game. Wood trees aren't as rare as people always seem to want you to think. There are twice as many wood trees than egg trees in the game currently. Try going into housing units {while you still can} glitch.alwaysdata.net/resou... for Pot's sake. I mean, really... I went away from the game for months because when I got pregnant the game made me feel ill.... I come back, and the SAME stupid fights are STILL going on. I thought we were "grown ups" here. I haven't looked at the new housing yet, but I assume {read: hope} between the new "woods" we are getting and the new housing units none of this will matter soon anyway.

  • I see where you're coming from, to all the people that say that this is wrong. Whereas poisoning trees is not against the rules, and you are allowed to do whatever you want with them, whether it be digging up the patches and poisoning the trees and replanting them with others, there's a matter of politeness there that has nothing to do with the rules. You can poison trees without breaking rules, but it would be nice if you don't kill egg trees when everyone is hunting for eggs on Easter, and if you would not kill wood trees for those who need the planks. It's what keeps Glitch a good community, though you are allowed to do whatever you want.

  • Congratulations on giving up your unhappiness!

Just IMHO, I *do* think it was a good thing to have two martinis.  Why not enjoy yourself?  I myself am not fond of them, but they make my father say hilarious things.

  • I am very happy with the new enchanted wood forest, which debuted after I posted this somewhat tipsy rant. I am really grateful to staff for coming up with such a creative way to make wood available in a way that could not be griefed by anyone.

Collaborative fun projects are fun, and obviously the collaborative effort to keep at least some wood in Wickdoon Mood upset some other glitchen. Let's hope future collaborations of many new kinds will grow up and flourish in Ur without upsetting anyone's happiness.
