Icon Eeep! (Or where the F-wagging heck do I place these things?!)

Ah, Icons.  The lovely quests, and the nice little pieces at the end.

Now.  I have all 11 of them and can't figure out where to put them!  They are big and clunky and just don't FIT! (add whine here)  - right now they sit by the door of my second floor and yell at me to tithe them, not realizing how poor I am!

Do most of you just toss yours in bags or some such?  What do you do with all 11 when you have them?

  • Place on floor, tithe once and ignore...
then enjoy the occasional free boost from Giant Love.

  • Kick 'em to the curb. Seriously. They are locked in your front yard.

  • Put them in your house or yard if you want the chance to get "Giant Love" when you walk past them. Put them in a bag and carry them with you if you want to use them while on the go. Stick them in the attic or a cabinet or sell them or give them away if you have no plans to ever use them. (Or just leave them in your front yard so other people can use them.)

I have my first set of 11 set up on the first floor of my house, and have been putting extras I get after that on my street, so far.

  • I have 11 on the ground floor of my house, I just ignore their whining, but the random stuff they can give is worth walking past them regularly.  I also carry 6 around with me that I use for energy and mood when mining.  If you put them in your front yard other people will use them and they will whine more... much more.

  • I also keep them on my ground floor and enjoy the random Giant Love.  I also will occasionally reflect them when I want more imagination, but that's because I have plenty of currants and don't mind tithing.

  • I keep mine around for the love but i keep them in one big pile because - as much as I love the giants - their kind of ugly.

  • I have distributed them around my house on little stools with offerings on the stools. Alph gets a construction tool, friendly gets drinks, gren gets salmon & jellis, pot gets food (proper rice), and so on.

Little spirit houses, on my floor.

Wish I could mount them higher, but so it goes.

That way no matter where I am in my house, I get the odd giant lovin's.

  • I filled a cabinet with them ... I can't afford to tithe 'em!

  • i keep mine all in a single pile on my first floor, concealed by a room decoration (using the forest screen right now).  I still walk past them and get tons of giant love, but i don't have to have them crowding up the house.

  • I devoted a whole floor to my icons. (http://lem.to/p/vW9k) I didn't like having them in my front yard, and they look weird if you try to put them on shelves. (I do wish we could hang them on the wall as decorations though.)

  • I put mine out of the way in the backyard in a "shrine garden" www.glitch.com/snaps/PHF2VP...

  • I made a two-tier system with mine, as in I put 5 on a table and 5 below.
The giant love still works, and they don't take up a huge length of house.

  • You can place them all in the same spot, and definitely put them in a place you'll run past regularly.  Or do what Suzy did!  Looks great!

I like to put mine up on furniture, since they're a bit more out of the way that way.

  • I put mine in my house on the floor and on 2 shelves above - 3 or 4 per row or shelf - can view all completely. I can jump on shelves to walk in front of if I feel the need to. I've seen some folks put them together into a compact clump.

  • I dedicated the right side of my 2nd floor just for them as you can see here: www.glitch.com/snaps/PUVTV7...

I like them on the floor, but is up to you if you just rather put them in only one big pile. Or you could put them on shelves.

Sometimes when I'm mad at them I will just put them on a single big pile!

  • "They are big and clunky and just don't FIT! "

Yes, oh god yes. Seriously, they just don't fit or look good anywhere. They don't sit well on the grounds or on shelves or anything.

I have mine all spread out on my street so that I can get the extra Giant Love when I'm doing my daily harvesting, sometimes I put them all in a bag and shove it in the closet especially when I'm poor and don't like being shouted at to tithe.

  • Pre-housing reset, I had set up a calming purple shrine that nicely focused the Giants love. Once I get all of the resources I need, I plan to build it again. lem.to/p/I5ey

Here's what I did with mine - they are spread out enough I can easily reflect on them all but not taking up so much floor space.

  • Mine are an integral part of my decor.

The four you don't see are by the door to the yard, making the edge of the house attractive and I walk by them on the way to the garden.

  • Ooo I like what you've done Lucille :)

I try to put my icons in "appropriate" places... i.e. I've got Humbaba by my piggies, Zille by the rocks, Mab by the garden... and in the house: lem.to/p/gJc5 ...notice that Pot is on the top shelf of the kitchen with the food and Lem is by the front door...

If you scatter them around they don't look so bad, you just need to keep moving them around until you find a place where they fit nicely.

  • My icon altar. (old)
    icon altar (new)

I have mine in a high traffic area in my house (close to the entrance/door to upstairs & somewhere I have to walk past a lot to get to cabinets/SDBs/garden) so that I can (hopefully) pick up some Giant Love as I walk past.

They do take up a lot of space, so I put mine on a cabinet/shelves, similar to what JillyBean has done.  I have to jump up to trigger the top icons, but I don't mind that.

I think Stoot said something about (at some point) there being a verb on icons so we can convert them into wall decorations, which would be great.

  • I've got mine all lined up on the ground floor under a series of display shelves. I'd love an icon cabinet, where you can place your icons and click on them from there.

  • I have one set piled up at the entrance to my house so I don't miss out on the Giant Love, and a second set I keep with me for reflecting and other such things while I'm on the go.
They are pretty handy to have about your person.
