What the hell?? I had 4 pigs and today I went to my homestreet and I noticed I only had 1 pig!
Someone stole my pigs!
For God sake People, I you want pigs just get a damn pig egg or capture a pig in Ur, not in my homestreet!
That's just RUDE...
If you found plops and meat, it means they died. The plops and meat are their remains that they have bequeathed you. Or rather, if you wish to think of it this way, they poofed off to some other fairy heaven somewhere in Lala land. (Because they do go in a cloud of smoke or something).
Soooo -- nobody stole your pigs, right? But to keep them from dying again, feed them or use a feeder or have some trees they can nibble that you keep regularly petting and watering.
Trees gotta be close to the pigs (or no pig stick), and they have to be harvested/petted/watered regularly. Also, wood trees are no good (as I learned the hard way). Lots of full feeders is your best bet. Also, my sincerest condolences for your porcine loss. :(
Even if you have trees, if you don't interact with the trees on a regular basis, the pig won't feed from them. So the best way to keep your pigs healthy and from dying premature, get some piggy feeders...about 1 feeder for 3 pigs and keep the feeders full each game day.
I thought TS blocked people from napping pigs from home streets. Might need a hand with a few being removed from my street this week. I've loaned my lappy to my brother and only have iPad for a few days. Glitch is blocked at work too. If you can take, you're welcome to some of mine.
Feed your pigs. If they are 'hungry' and won't give you meat when you nibble, feed them a piece of meat or some other food. When they will give meat if nibbled, they have been fed.
To make sure the piggies will be fed if you are away for awhile get a piggy feeder. Put it in the area you keep your piggies. If you only have a smallish number of piggys, food in it will last quite awhile. You won't be able to put food in it if you haven't learned Remote Herdkeeping, but there are other players who would be happy to put your grain or other food in it for you. You can probably find them by going to Global Chat and asking. Soliciting help for this kind of thing is a good way to meet other players.
Meet friends in Glitch to work together tending piggies. When you know you will be away from the game for a time, ask them to check in and feed your piggies for you periodically. Again, a good way to meet and form relationships with other players.
Some of these suggestions will only work if you keep your piggies in your street, and not in your back yard. But even the piggy feeder can be used without letting 'semi-friends' in your house- you can transport an empty piggy feeder out to your street for others to fill and pick it up when it's filled and move it back to your yard. Any food that has been put in it will stay in it like a container until a piggy eats it out.
Be creative and come up with ways to work with others. I am sure my suggestions above are incomplete.
I have had 4 or more of my pigs since last October. I love them very much so yesterday I youthened them and raised them again. I hope they are good for another year!
When pigs are about to die you will see a Knife and Fork instead of a Heart or Meat. I visited a street earlier that had two pigs and one feeder. The feeder was empty and the pigs were about to croak. I pet and fed the pigs and then filled their feeder. Don't depend on your visitors to keep your pigs alive, check the pigs often if you want to keep them. Also, when I was ill recently I put out extra feeders and collectors to keep the pigs alive.
I have also had several chickens since last October. I youthened them too. They will die also but I don't know if there is any warning. Butterflies are short lived. If you find piles of meat, grain scattered around or bottles of milk, chances are good that you have lost animals.
My 15 pigs have lived on my street since the housing reset with only trees, but I get enough visitors that my pigs have never gone hungry. I also don't believe in pig sticks.
I've been using collectors since the housing reset, and I've yet to have a pig die (except two that starved when I didn't get online to refill the feeders). The butterflies do die regularly, but I'm really not sure if the pigs do so.
