@glum pudding - this website was never to take away from the forums here on glitch.com. This website was meant for a meeting place outside of the glitch realm, outside of tinyspeck's hands. What happens when glitch.com has a downtime or needs server maintenance. Where would you go for help? It is the fansites that give a place for people to go outside of the company's control. Besides, we are not forcing you to join, we are just giving opportunities to make friends and create stronger bonds. We also do many things different than on the glitch forums. Things are a bit more detailed than just posting a thread and having people comment on it. There is visitor messaging, private messaging, chance to win some free credits, etc. It organizes topics through different subjects instead of just a bunch of threads all in one forum. Join if you want, it is your choice, and your choice only.
Sure they're unnecessary - as is Glitch itself. (ducking)
Here's my take...in the future, hopefully not too distant, when there are 100's of thousands of Glitchens, Tiny Speck's support of their forum could possibly take resources away from the inGame development, product marketing, and other business requirements.
I have been involved in MMO's where the devs knew solid fan-sites add to the community resources, player networking, etc. as well as Glitch.com search optimization.
I think it's wonderful that peeps are creating other resources for us to sample.
Another potentially good thing about it - as someone who works behind a *fierce* firewall, my evil bosses have sussed that glitch.com is a game site and even if I just want to look at a forum or set off a skill I get a nasty message saying "games are evil - get back to work!" or words to that effect ;) If this fan site stays under the MC radar it could be a good way to get a glitchy-fix Not the real thing but close enough to get me through a long day in the salt mines.
Oh, glum, no no no. I check in here several times a day, just to see whats going on. Another site to read juicy news & chat on is pure pleasure for me. The more the merrier.
Thanks for the support and feedback. I'm looking to start making the site more actively engaging in some way...Hmm I wish people were more post crazy :D
the site looks great. just found it and plan to use it. the layout is really nice and it seems to have a lot of options. so whether glitch forums, fan clubs, other groups, guilds, etc... i think there is room for everyone.
Just wait until groups start getting their own forum sites… When the game goes public and there are hundreds of thousands of users this place is going to get busy!
