Glitchy Generosity: A Stooty Observation

It's things like these which show that, at heart, the Glitch community remains (and always has been) pretty damn awesome. :3

Have you got any stories to share about the community? I'd love to hear them :)

  •  I went over by my sisters' Glitch house yesterday to fill her piggy feeder...and outside every door on her row someone had left a little glitch game and a random kindness outside everyone's door. I thought it was so sweet and hoped they stayed there until the owners arrived home and saw them..I hope they did  ..I wont say where it was just in-case ;-).

But I am sure if the person who left these gifts for all of their neighbours is reading this..they will know who they are...( I don't ) But it was so cute and really touched me. :)

  • The Random Kindness item isn't really a proper gift.  When someone gives you one of those they are assigning you the chore of dispensing it.  So you're recieving a work assignment, not a gift.

  • It's not a chore, it's an opportunity to spread smiles and rainbows across the land!  Or if you can't be bothered, a rainbowy home accessory!  Sheesh...

  • Parrow Gnolle -- oh, WHATEVER.  I think they make lovely gifts, because handing out RKs is one of the joys of Glitch for me.  I put one in each of the newbie bags that I give out :)

Hburger -- that is so sweet and awesome!  I recently visited a street where the Cubimal Fairy had visited and decorated everyone's porch, anonymously -- it was wonderful to see!

Yay for the Impromptu Stoot Shrine!

  • It's sweet when people go out of their way to make others smile. Sadly it only takes one nasty individual to come along and ruin it. I've left gifts for my neighbors before only to see someone who didn't even live on the block show up and go from house to house stealing everything they found.

Still, can't let one person's greed keep you from doing it again. Perhaps I should mail them next time. It would be nice if houses had a little drop box that people could leave goodies in that couldn't be stolen from.

  • I would lay good odds that my butterfly fart comment made more people smile than any amount of low-energy 'food' items dumped in front of peoples' houses.

If you want to give to people, give to them directly.  It works so much better.  And it's fun to freak someone out with a full stack of Expensive Grilled Cheese once in a while.

  • I'm a nerd. :P

Seriously, I have encountered SO many random acts of generosity in game, but I'm so paranoid of rubbing people the wrong way, outside of bestowing kindness and throwing the occasional radiate in a crowded room, I rarely reach out!

I should reach out more often!

  • Just throw some stuff at someone once in awhile.  What can they do?  Report you for giving them 20 beans?  You'll even occasionally meet a friend that way.

  • There's a street somewhere where someone does a milk round and leaves single milk bottles on each doorstep. It makes me smile.

  • I wish I could get more RK.  I have bog house and I don't get RK from harvesting.  The only way I know of to get RK is to go to the tower (which I have a few times) and go through that quest again (after paying 100c) to get the RK gift from Gwendolyn.   The only other way I have gotten RK is if someone has given it to me.   When I have extras I like to give them to new players because they are always on the receiving end of gifts and it gives them a chance to give something back.   In fact I think all the new players should get some RK from the game early so that they can bestow it on the higher level gift givers.

  • Good idea Treesa. I'll put this here... www.glitch.com/groups/RHV10...

So I was giving out hohoho bags on glitchmas, and was down to my last one when I ran into a baby glitchen who looked like a likely prospect. I tried to give a bag but her inventory was full. Drat. Usually I just move on, but this time I asked her to make an empty slot in the inventory. Long story short, after explaining I was doing a quest, honest, it won't hurt,  etc. I was forced to drop the bag at her feet. She expected tricks, she did. I tried to explain that the game is about cooperation and giving (in my book) but nothing doing. She friended me a couple minutes after I left.

RKs are always part of my bags because they give the right idea up front. And they are a way that newbs can be a part of that. So if you don't like RKs, you can give them to a newborn glitchen. Or mail them to me. I'll do it.
