Not just more quests, but LOTS more quests!

I know this has been said before.  And I know the general response is that Glitch is supposed to be a big, open-ended, build-your-own game sort of thing.  But lots of people, myself included, just don't enjoy that sort of thing.  For us, it doesn't feel free so much as it feels aimless.  We like direction.  We like feeling like we're participating in a larger scheme.  We like being rewarded for furthering a story.  In short, we like quests!

But here I am, at only level 12, and I routinely have nothing to guide my Glitch experience.  My new skills are now measured in hours or days, so new quests are quite infrequent.  And even those precious quests rarely take more than a few minutes to complete.  I love Glitch in general.  The setting is lovely.  The humor and wit are superb.  And the gameplay is very engaging.  When there is any.  But I need far more play in my game!

So my sincere and passionate request to the Giants is to give us more quests.  And not just a few more quests, but a veritable ocean of them.  My challenge shouldn't ever be finding a quest, it should be deciding which sounds most interesting among the many I have available.  I'd love to have at least 5-10 possibilities on average at any given point in time.

(And achievements are nice, but they're not quests.  If I set out to get one achievement in particular, gameplay for me becomes long and tedious.)

The simple truth is that I am now bored with Glitch.  Quests would make the bored go away.  Please, please make the bored go away!  I quite like it here and I'd love to have reasons to stay.  :)

  • I am all for new quests, and this had been suggested, and there is a bit of a divide between those who like quests and those who like free roam. I think more quests are intended. Right now they are changing stuff for the near future. it is a bit of wait and see.

  • +1 for many more quests, please.  Also maybe a "mute quests" option for glitchen who prefer to free roam and don't want to be bothered with new quest announcements, etc.

  • I would certainly agree that the quests should be optional.  That way those who don't care for them can ignore them and just roam free as they do now.

  • In the end the solution is player-created quest lines.

"Drop at least 5 Awesome Stews on 8 different streets in Illmenski Caverns"

Setting rewards is currently a big problem.

  • We should have a "daily quest" which is submitted by players to the devs and every new game day, they release a new quest that we have 24 real hours to complete.

  • A player-created quest system would be awesome!  And very much in the spirit of the game.  We'd have a never-ending flow of creative things to do.  I would further suggest including a rating system to highlight the really good ones.  And probably a tag or category system to help organize them by activity/location/etc.

I can see how a reward system could be tricky.  Perhaps it could be relative to the number of goals and the player level?  So a low-level character completing a very simple quest would get a very small reward and a high-level character completing a very complex quest would get a much larger reward.  And be able to somehow choose (probably set by the quest creator) from xp, cash, items, etc.

I love this idea!  I hope the Giants are listening.  :)

  • I like the idea of player generated quests.

While you're waiting for more, why don't you join Sandbox? There are many, many quests written by players that often require interaction and cooperation with others. It's really fun.

  • I appreciate the effort and creativity that go into player generated quests but at the moment I don't get enough of a kick out of completing them simply because they're not recognised by the Rock nor reflected in my official achievements.  Boring but true.

With or without a central system for adding player-submitted quests to the official canon, it would be great if we could use our own Rock to monitor and record custom quests, for example:

    Name: Four Corners
Requirement: Visit Baddam Haddam in Aranna AND
Requirement: Visit Baby Steppes in Ix AND
Requirement: Visit Goli Grabs in Kalavana AND
Requirement: Visit Verdant Green in Groddle Forest AND
    Requirement: Same in-game day

Essentially, while I acknowledge the existence of player-generated quests and am grateful that people have been kind enough to share them, my support for this idea thread is not met by them as they stand at the moment.
