Which trees are most useful to have in a house?

I just bought a shiny new cutesygoth meadow cottage, and I'm debating what to put in the patches! I have five, none are planted. One is definitely going to be a wood tree so I have a steady supply of wood, but which should the others be? What trees/plants have you found most useful at your own houses?

  • One of mine was a wood tree and the rest were spice in my old house. I just bought one in the meadows, plan to do the same thing. So much better than going out of my way to Ix!

  • 5 wood trees would give the most profit with max harvest(80) and then sprinkle fertilidust. If they water/pet them into last stage you'll get some hard badges. But at the moment actions with a wood tree make you move out of it's range...

Gas/Spice are rarer so if you occasionally go through regions recollecting you might plant these to get rarer resources if you need them.

Although if you like cooking and want to have ingredients handy bubble/bean/fruit are ok too.

  • Depends on how you play.  I keep all but wood & bean at mine. That extra spice adds up, and it's handy to have a surplus of gas. That sounds wrong.
I also have bubbles and fruit.
Candidly, the fruit has not been THAT useful.
But neither was the wood.  I only need ONE plank.
I could actually see swapping out my fruit for a spice.
But I only have four patches.

  • I think I'm going to get three wood, one gas, and one spice in my cottage. :) Bubble, bean, spice, and cherry are handy for cooking. Wood and gas are rarer, so you can get resources from those.

  • I'm a cook so all the trees are useful to me, especially fruit and bean. I planted one of each - gas, spice, wood, bubble, bean. On my street there is already one bean and one fruit tree so that decided me a bit also. Check out what's on your street first. I use wood by keeping it to full growth with fertilidust lite - and it gives 80 woods when harvested. These soon mount up and can be donated to shrines. Gas is good for making seasoned beans, which sell really well. Spice - well you really need spice anyway as a cook! Bubble - partly why my cottage is in Bortola - I need lots of bubbles for cocktails. Bean - the ubiquitous Awesome Stew requirement.  A lot depends on what your skills are and what you make your currents by. Good luck!

  • I find bubble trees to be a pain to chase.  It's not that they're rare, just that they tend to be scattered.  So I have two bubble trees, one gas, and one wood.

I feed my planks to batterflies, and I also assume wood will be more useful after future updates, just like herbs.

  • In my home I have 2 wood trees, 2 spice trees and 1 gas plant. I sell a lot of wood and since it gives a great profit is the perfect tree to have at home, especially since you almost can't find in the wild cause people just clear them out :(

Gas plant is really great and you definitely should have at home, and Spice as well!2 spices trees are ideal!

And I live in Groddle, just like you and though Ix is just 2 strees away from my home I really like to have gas and spices at my home, since you can't find these inside the home street quarters.

  • 5 wood trees at full growth * 80 planks * 4 currants each = 1600 currants, but adjust to your needs.

  • all beans is best when you need to mine a lot- so you can make loads of Awesome stews.Don't worry too much you can kill them and re-plant what you decide is your priority in future

  • You may also want to keep one empty patch instead of planting a tree. There are badges related to tending and digging which are almost impossible to attain in the world.

  • I agree with leaving an empty patch to tend so that you can get some of the patch achievements and both BB-5 musicblocks I've gotten were from tending the patch at my house. I keep 2 wood trees and that's nice profit as well! I like having spice and bean for cooking, but if you're not into cooking, just get wood trees!

  • Back when I had a cottage and later in the 50k, I pretty much changed the trees to match whatever achievement or self imposed project I was working on at the time.

No 'poisoner's guilt' at home and with a bit of fertilidust you can chop and change them how you want, daily if needed.

Doing anything foody/gathery on any scale means even 5 of one type doesn't really make much difference tbh, much better used for the chopping, poisoning, healing, tending stuff, when not doing that I tended to leave them spice or gas just cos it was more of a trek for me, later on with higher TP skills that became irrelevant too.
