Suggestion to improve Vendors

Currently, many players are dependent on vendors, especially produce vendors, and will often buy produce from them, rather then the auction house. Many players, suggest simply removing the vendors completely. However, this will cause new players to be VERY disadvantaged. So I propose, that vendors remain. BUT, instead of unlimited stock, they only have the stock sold to them by players.

There would be a limit of perhaps, 500(?) of each good. Players would sell there good, not through the 'sell' menu, but a new menu called 'supply'.

The prices of the goods cost/purchase price would depend on the amount of remaining stock. Ie, A large amount of stock, results in a lowered price for both buying and selling. And vice versa.

  • I think the unlimited stock is ok, otherwise the prices would likely go up :S

  • What about groceries? Produce can be cheaper at auctions, because they can be planted in gardens, but stuff like honey and olive oil can't be made, so the supply would be the same forever o.O

  • With the 'stock' the prices would be pre-set. Ie, vendors with a large supply of goods, would be cheaper then the vendors are currently, but will obviously, loose that excess stock quickly. But vendors with a small amount of stock would have their prices go up. Ie, if their is one item left, it may be 300% of the vendor cost now. But the vendor will have their stock refuelled quicker, (since, its more profitable to do so for players)

  • As for the groceries, well.. TS would either need to provide players the means to make the items. (preferable) or, just make the grocery vendors sell unlimited amount of stock.

  • I think you would run into huge problems of uneven markets in different areas if each vendor had a supply limit.  What happens when no one supplies anything to the vendor in the far corner of some region?  Someone goes and buys the last 5 whatever, and then there is nothing?  On the other side, what do people crafting things do with all the supply they've made that the vendors won't take?   You might get some people running around, or writing complicated scripts to find the store that needs supply and will pay the best, but games are not conducive to a real self-correcting market.  I don't like the AH as a substitute, because the fees are so high.  I'd just give up playing if all the things I craft had nowhere to go and just sat in my storage.  The purpose of vendors is to ensure that there is always supply available for people who don't have the resources to grow or craft something, and there's always incentive to make things because you have somewhere to sell it.

  • But if their is no supply avalible in far reaching vendors, then the price that the vendors PAYS for items FROM the player, increases. So players will be more likely to search for vendors with low supply as they make more money.
