City Glitchers 2: Legend of Bacon-o's Treasure

I'm getting a bunch of messages so I thought I'd post this.
I hide a large bag full of gems. You may have seen the clues.
Hint: Each clue is named for a giant. The clues are in pairs. The Alph clue helps with what clue goes with which.
The treasure as been found once, but they left the bag and only took a few gems... and left other stuff. I restocked it a bit. But last time I checked, it is still there.

  • Oh... and there are numerous copies of each clue.

  • What do you mean, the clues are in pairs?! I only picked up one note....*sighs* so confused.

  • Wish I could stay home and play!!

    Have fun everybody! :)

  • Cupcake, your one clue was labeled one of the giants... you need to figure out which other giant goes with that one. You need both clues to figure it out. (Not entirely true.)

  • Oooh fun! You know what would make it easy to make it last for many people? If the finder only takes out one or two things and puts in one or two new things kind of like you do with geocaching.

  • I love it.

  • And it is gone!

Having done it once, I've learned some minor lessons. Another day I will do it again (but not this test). I am leaving a tiny prize at the location now with a note.

  • Yes, +1 for geocaching! I do that (and letterboxing, which would also work perfectly in Glitch) in real life, haha

  • The only problem with a treasure hunt is that some random person walking buy can still find it without doing any work at all. The first clue I saw that was my thought, "I'm not going to bother because some random probably already picked it up." Have fun though!

  • This is gonna return soon. Not real soon but soon.

I want to make it even more enjoyable.
    1) With teleportation slots, I can easily check on the treasure to make sure it is stocked with SOMETHING at least. The first person to find it will get the best stuff, of course. But any suggestions of good stuff to include?
    2) I have a much firmer grip on how to make the clues clearer. I'm not going to make them easier but I over complicated the structure last time. (There were four sets of pairs clues. You need a pair to get the answer (in theory at least). There was a ninth clue that explained what clues pair with what. I had hoped it would encourage folks to work together... but that is not how it worked out.)
    3) Any suggestions?

  • Ah, see, I had missed this post and had thought that one clue led to another led to another, a la scavenger hunt.

Stuff to include...gems are still good, I think. MusicBlocks are easy to have to hand, too, if you do any Gardening, as you know, and I still happily use my repeats for shrine donations.

  • Can I say +1 to geocaching from stoot's comment, but with an asterisk on it?

    The asterisk:
Lord Bacon-o, you have come up with some pretty stellar (and funny!) ideas in the forum threads.  I think this pseudo-caching you've got is another one of those.   I can't wait to try it out.

I think gems and musicblocks are great.  Add food items!  High energy or high mood drinks.  Sometimes a little hooch can help.  Seasoned egg (for a new pet).

  • Hah! This is what I get for not reading the forums thoroughly... I was all excited to try to set up a similar hunt/geocaching deal, but I'm still pretty new to things and haven't gotten my penpersonship. Good thing it's a big world out there!

  • Lilith, do it! Its tons o' fun!

  • Oh, I will! I'm just a little pouty that I wasn't the first to think of it. Don't mind me, I'll get over it soon.

I already leave fancy drinks and odd snacks behind trees and bushes... it's funny to see how long some of them stay!

  • i love this Lord Bacon-o and Lilith yes! do yours too!

This has inspired me to do some of the same during the next test (and to keep an eye out for Bacon-o's clues).

  • New treasure has been hidden. I'm going to wait to put out clues until I see if anyone finds it with out it.

  • It has been discovered (by clue or chance, I do not know).
But there is still plenty of treasure left!
Posted 17 months ago by Lord Bacon-o Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Currently it has become a dumping ground for keys. Still awesome.
Posted 17 months ago by Lord Bacon-o Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Alas! Treasure hunters beware: on the 49th of Bruise Tricky Woo found the treasure before all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But continue your hunt for it will sure be rewarded.

  • I found it several hours ago Lord Bacon-o - by clue ~~ thanks so much...I took a few things and left a few ~ a couple of which were the rarer keys (one for Ajaja Bliss and one for the room at the tower), anyway...lots of fun ~ greatly appreciated!!  :)

  • The treasure has been picked pretty clean.
I will be leaving more things (right now I only had a diamond to leave).
Kindness if you have already found it, don't go looting there. (Not that I can stop you, of course.)
Will restock as soon as I can.
Posted 17 months ago by Lord Bacon-o Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I thought I knew where it was, but I didn't find anything earlier :( I'm still trying!
Posted 17 months ago by NutMeg Botwin Subscriber! | Permalink
  • There is a note there. (That wasn't taken.)
Posted 17 months ago by Lord Bacon-o Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Okay. I stopped stocking it. Good time! Lots of cycling through (and everyone leaves the amber... no surprise there). And thanks to everyone who keeps putting drinks on the "nose"! Awesomesuace.
