Annoying Bug With *EASY* Fix

All popups animations swallow mouse clicks, preventing you from clicking on what is below them. This is true for rainbows, numbers, icons, all of them. This is especially annoying because they usually pop up right where you want to click next because you are harvesting a tree twice or nibbling a pig twice or whatever.

But devs, this is an incredibly easy fix! If you don't want a popup to swallow mouse clicks, you can just set the mouseEnabled and mouseChildren to false on the MovieClip for that popup. I submitted a ticket three weeks ago, so I'm posting here in the hopes that it will be dealt with. Depending on how you do these popups, this might literally be a two-line fix.

It would really make the game a better playing experience.

  • You don't think its an annoying bug, or you don't think its an easy fix? I suppose if you use keyboard-only interactions you won't ever notice the bug. But if you use a mouse it happens frequently.

  • I don't think it's a bug.

  • The flip side would be clicking something you can't see and didn't want to click, though that's usually not disastrous in this game.

  • I've noticed that too. If I have a destination set, the popup covers the street sign (with more than one street on it) so that I can't click on it. Even moving away from it doesn't uncover it.

  • To be clear, the issue I originally complained about was the transient animated popups swallowing clicks. For instance, suppose you click on a bubble tree and click harvest. When you are done, a giant bubble appears in the middle of the tree and then moves quickly to your inventory to indicate to you that you have a new item. If I click where the bubble happens to be, I am clicking on a spot where the bubble wasn't there a moment ago and where the bubble will be gone a moment from now. In this case, it is clear that my intention was to click on the menu item/object/whatever *behind* the bubble and not the bubble itself. The fact that the bubble happens to be there for an instant just interferes with the user's intended action.

I've not personally encountered Phoebe's problem. That may be a separate issue of how to do proper layout when the flash window size is smaller or larger. I'll play around with window sizes when the next test opens and see if I can reproduce.
