The more I hear about the Rare Item Vendor, the more I'm not sure I like the idea. I think it cheapens our other rare items. In real life, antiques are sought after because they tell a story. Each item has a history; from where it was made to who owned it, why it fell out of favor, and what newfangled contraption or style replaced it. Our strawberry seeds and tree poisons and beta pickles all have a story. They are rare for a reason. They remind us of our glitchy history, of old times and fond memories. These new items don't have any history, they're just manufactured out of thin air to be a currant sink. It's nice to have something for high-level players to work towards, but I don't think I'll ever treasure any fabricated "rare" item more than my GNG block, for example. It's just not the same.
