Disclose an item's wear and tear in auction description

This is a mixture of a bug (somewhat) and feature request. At the moment, it's fairly easy to auction off almost completely broken tools for an inflated value as it is impossible to see an item's wear in an auction.

This probably keeps experienced players from buying tools in auctions and is a great way to make money before learning the Tinkering skill, as one can easily sell an almost useless tool for a perceived low price (I've done it a couple of times...)

If I can't fix a tinkertool, I usually sell it at 100-150.. but the person buying it may not realize it's broken.

  • if you click deep enough into the auctioned tool it does show a durability bar.  Probably too many clicks to get there as people are buying at a higher level.  I'm yet to see any completely broken tools being sold but hope to find some as I'm working on "Assistant to the Mending Manager, Kitchen Division" where I need to Use a Tinkertool to repair 23 cooking tools.

  • @Artilect: Check the following auction and tell me where you can see the current stats of the item:

  • @Revilo, my bad.  I was using ping's 3rd party script to see the durability info.  see http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/112152
    for auction info script

  • I agree with the durability level, especially though for things like hallowed powders and the such.  I just got stung big time by buying an extremely hallowed powder that only had one use left!

  • JugglesXP, powders (like EHSP and Fertilidust) *do* show number of uses, as seen here.

+1 to the OP, though. It would be immensely helpful for buyers.

  • Especially since it would make tinkering more valuable: buy cheap broken stuff, fix it up, put it back at auction.
