Dungeons and...Piggies?

Some of us who used to RPG a lot were thinking, what if we used Glitch's world, the scenery and the maps and the avatars, and combined it with a player-run RPG/adventure game with quests, monsters, swords, armor, etc?  We could use notes, dice, a forum place, and some commonly accessible gaming system with monsters, combat tables, et cetera. (I have 1st edition AD&D, and I guess there are lots of other systems out there. All we need is to figure out which would best suit our needs.)  We could quest for hidden notes which would be monsters, dice it out...someone who is a lot more organized and talented as a GM could maintain a spreadsheet for the players.  We could put something together and beta test within the beta test.  I'm not a good GM/DM but I can play support roles.

I see this as something the players could choose to do within the existing world, separate from Glitch's stats but with their landscape--not something that TS would have to support or bother with at all.

  • I had an idea similar to this, but for splanking battles, like PVP. I'm more of a roleplayer though, so the rolls of the dice would be done just to see who attacks first and maybe a roll to determine how much damage one's plank did to another. I'd like to se some other ides though.

  • So, I'd be playing a pen and paper game within a graphical virtual world?
    Damn.
    That's meta.
It would be like entering the Matrix, so you could play an ordinary person.
    Love the idea.
    Shine on, you crazy glitchen.

  • Dude, I have totally suggested this in several places, I am on board.  The only issue is that we have only d12 and 2d6 to play with, and the probability distributions aren't that different between the two.
I think we would have to do a large amount of work to make any existing system work with the limitations we have.  However ... we could try to homebrew something!
If there's any serious interest in this, get in touch with me and we can try to playtest something.
