I really like the mechanics of the Bushels of Grain, but I don't understand why it isn't used more often in the game. There are plenty of items that people constantly carry or stack in their backyard in excessive amounts. I think there's a lot variations you could do with this concept, but in the end it could lead to much cleaner inventories and houses, as well as streamline gameplay.
Is there any reason why we can't bushel things like meat if people are always going to leave 500+ in their backyard? Whether we are allowed to stack multiple bundles or not (which allows people to carry more) it would still be a useful feature.
I also think it creates the possibility of new tools or skills that might be fun for players.
A couple random ideas:
Egg cartons, carry up to five 250 egg cartons per stack
Meat bundle, for hoarders to keep in backyard. Could be too big to carry or hold, just cleans up backyard.
Meat cube, using new tool and skill. Combines multiple meats to create higher energy meat that can be stacked at a higher size (to eat in bulk) or used in new recipes. Loses 5% of energy value, costs energy to make, but triples stack size.
Compressed rock, use a new machine and skill to compress 250 rocks into one mega rock. Clears clutter, inventory, and is a convenient size for grinding using 1 flaming humbaba.
I understand a lot of these things might affect game balance or inventory balance, but it just seems so logical that I don't understand why it's not used more often.
