Subway computer lady

It would be nice if there was a nice computer lady announcing each subway stop in a calm computer lady voice.

  • She could even speak in different dialects/languages, like you hear on the subways in Japan.

  • The Seattle airport's tram system speaks English and Japanese! It would be awesome. And (I know, I keep harping on it) I still want some subtle subway vermin.

  • Love this idea, especially the multilingual option.

  • Like the multilingual idea, would like it if different subway cars had different announcers. One could be Lady Stephen Hawking, maybe someone that sounds like Werner Herzog one could be the NY version where the speaker is so blown out that you can't possibly begin to understand what is being said.

  • Nah, you'd have to make her sound like Charlie Brown's teacher. That's what subway announcements end up sounding like anyway.

She'd only start speaking intelligibly if you were on the purple... and even then, she'd still speak like some weird Lewis Carroll AI.

  • We had a train operator in DC who would randomly give the time, weather, etc. many years ago.  I remember once he gave some sort of helpful update and then, after a pause, said in a high, squeaky voice, "Thank you Mr. Train Driver!"

    Something like that...

  • I really do wonder if hiring a bunch of people just to voice a few announcements really is the best use of resources. If an announcer does go through I'd rather they speak in gibberish than hire all the right people with the right accents and voice to do this.

Really though, finding someone who knows a language is one thing. Finding someone who actually sounds like a native speaker is another. Look at Red Dead Redemption. All nice and Westerney, and then BLAM! That "bandito" sounds like he's from LA. No seriously. They sound like they're from LA.

  • All the announcements should just be done in Bad Accents.

Or Action Movie Trailer Voice. (Suddenly, NINJAS!)

  • glum, YES YES YES YES YES.  And when someone clicks to exit the train car, you should hear her say in that smooth voice, "Have fun...", just like she does in the promo vid.

  • There's a promo vid?

  • @Liridona Why hire voice-actors when you have a worldwide fanbase? :)

  • It would be really helpful to announce the subway stop name so that I could switch to a different tab while I'm waiting on the subway to get to my destination.

  • Nah, I don't want to depends on the sound system for a hint/clue. I can't hear anything at all, yup, I'm Deaf.

  • I feel like the game is designed around text and emotes as speech, and I do not think voice overs would add anything besides more resources for the dev team to worry about.

  • I would love to earn subway badges. Maybe a badge for 1st complete circuit and then after getting off and on at every stop?
    Just a thought.
I would also like to have a sharpie to add my own graffiti- temporary like headstones
