You HAVE been away for a bit. We were without new blood for so long that new, and recently resurrected Glitchen are highly revered, so apologies are not accepted for "noob"ness. Your house is your house. No buying or selling--it's up to you and your IMG to make it your home. Welcome back. It's gotten a lot more fun!
We no longer have homes that we buy and sell. Our homes reside in our imaginations now, but are much more customizable than the old ones, with upgradeable furniture, wallpaper, carpets and the like. They also can be expanded both upward and outward.
Meh. I'm with KatAMB. Much preferred the old housing (plus all the fun of scoping out the ideal location, as well as the actual buying and selling). Still miss it!
Yeah, I loved the realty listings: the thrill of securing a cottage in one of the game's oldest neighborhoods! Trading up for a more beautiful home in a newly released suburb in Bortola. Winter escape to the bogs with their beautiful lighting. Meeting your neighbors by the mailbox! Oh it was fun.
Customized furniture is nice, but all the houses look the same now (boxes, and no walls between "rooms", and did I say boxes?).
I think if TS does something to connect home streets to the world, the new houses will be better in all ways than the old.
For example, if the players were forced to pick a region, their home street and house exterior style would be constrained to match the chosen region.
And, the visiting stones in that region would prompt you with a list of names of players who chose that region, instead of transporting you to a random street.
(It's been a while since this was discussed, so I'll make another post in the Ideas forum.)
I really really really miss balcony jumping and hope that it becomes something we can "add" to our home...I would even be happy to jump from a tower! Thanks, MA
Me too, SchWM. I miss the rarity of functional tables, the warmth of the dark, rounded walls, the jellisacs and fireflies Inside the homes and the holes in the floors where you could fall down to other levels.
But, there are tons of things many of us wanted and begged for and complained about that we actually received. I love the flexibility of crops/herbs being grown where I want them, the choices for trees and rocks and the fact that we have furniture!!! I can have as many tables as I want...and couches and art and cabinets and vases and random stuff that is fun to make, sell, move around, give away...
I think you'll enjoy the new houses. They require a lot of work at first but are worth it. Yes, I still want a round house, yes, I miss jumping off my balcony, yes all the houses are basically the same. But, I still love playing in it!!
