If you want to sleep, start a seven-hour skill just before bed. :) BA III now takes over five days, so you can learn while you sleep, pause when you start playing again, resume when the test ends...
It would be terrific to have some longer tests, though, so we wouldn't have to strategize as much about skill order.
Mining III
I made a conscious decision to play the game completely opposite to how I played before this last re-set.
When I first started playing, I concentrated on cooking and gardening because those are things I enjoy and know well in real life. I added animal kinship as I went along because it seemed like the thing to do while I was trying to upgrade my recipe list with all the kitchen tools I was having to buy.
I avoided home ownership because I didn't want to get tied down looking after a property.(too much like real life).
When presented with the focus orb quest, I went for it in a big way because it was fun and meditation and radiation are such a trip.
I avoided Ilmenski and mining because busting rocks sounded like a chain gang, and alchemy because I thought it would resemble the summer I had to have a chemistry tutor.
It took me AGES to get to level 12.
This time around, I headed straight for the rocks, and ignored everything but spinach and cabbages for several levels.
I didn't stop at every tree I came across but couldn't ignore them altogether, because so many of them looked neglected.
I made it a personal quest to get the hang of butterfly milking and yay I think I've got it, sort of.
I've taken up with alchemy for the sole purpose of making shrine powder.
And finally
I've purchased a house ( actually I bought one in Estavan by mistake and sold it at a loss to get one in Marypole) Shimla makes sense in terms of location, but it's too dark for my tastes. I would love to have a table to jump on in Marypole. And an attic, to hide things, but in truth I've spent maybe 5 minutes at the house. I like to roam.
I've been picking up the cooking skills along the way, but I have to say they are a time and energy suck and tools and ingredients take up hellamuch inventory space. The chef skills are fun but.....
I've had far fewer hours in the game this time round and I was at level 12 in less than half the time it took me first time round. Now a big part of that was knowing my way around... for instance, I didn't have to spend close to an hour wandering around Ur looking for salt this time, but even so.. I think chef skills need more of a pay off if they're going to attract players long term.
Ani, not sure I understand that comment...what do you mean don't do too many because you can't put them in the middle of the queue? Can't you just click on the X to remove them when game is rolling if you decide you need to do something else? Then add them back later? Just wanna be sure I know what I'm doing here...
Rascal, not sure I understand Ani's response either. But I believe you have to be careful to queue up stuff that you already have the qualifications to achieve. Beyond that, .
Okay so let's say I have six queued up; I learn three then in the meantime I've turned in an emblem and unlocked another skill or two...I could remove the last three in the queue and just add the new ones, right? Sorry to be a bit thick here...
