Daily crafting XP limit

So I asked in global the other day if anyone knew the limits for how much XP you can get for making a given item in a day before it cuts you off, and no one knew so I decided to try working out the math so I could try to be more efficient and not make extras that won't get me any XP.

Now of course just because it works out to the same number for the two levels I've been since then, doesn't mean that's 100% for sure what the limit is forever. It could differ at different level ranges or whatever. But these are my result so far (which I imagine might end up moot anyway after the change to imagination but we'll see).

Now I've only tracked it making fruit tree beans, so it could also still be different for different items, too. But I've found that the limit seems to be 6% of the total XP needed from your last level to your next level. Technically it's actually been more like 5.9999% because it's obviously rounded :P

To get from level 41 to 42, you need a total of 99,589 XP. You can get 5,975 XP per game day from fruit tree beans at level 41. 6% of 99,589 is 5,975.34. Rounded is 5,975.
Level 42 to 43 needs 104,718 XP and you can get 6,283 per game day from fruit tree beans.

I think it'd be interesting if other people tried tracking how much XP they could get before getting cut off and see if the results are the same in other level ranges and with different items or if it varies.

  • Greica - great research! I'll try to replicate it some of my other alts

  • Yep! It's definitely 6% of the total xp needed to level up and it seems to apply to all crafting activities. I think however this is only true after a certain level. I used the 6% to reliably predict how many resources to gather from level 35 or so onward, but some minor experimenting I did a while back with an alt seems to suggest that the cap is a higher percentage for lower-level players. Not sure where or how that change happens, though.

Just something to look forward to: When you get to level 59, you can make up to 497 seasoned beans before hitting the max! It's super fun and fascinating to make that many beans in a row.

    Happy Bean Seasoning!

P.S. I'm sure you've already figured this out, but the cap is item-related rather than crafting-in-itself-related. In other words you have a crafting cap on fruit tree beans, but you can start all over again with bubble tree beans.

  • I can tell you that when I crafted 2,000 tree beans at once, equal number of each variety, the XP cap on each type of bean was the same number. But I don't recall the actual number.

    Hope that helps.

  • @Sirentist that actually makes a lot of sense imo given that the donating XP limit is higher than 10% at lower levels, too. I think it gets to 10% and stops going down at 30ish? So I'd imagine it's probably about the same for the crafting limits.

good to know the same limits seem to apply to every item, though (and yes, i did know it was per item and i realize that wasn't clear in my title haha). Makes finding that efficiency sweet spot easier. :D

I can't even imagine making 500 beans in one go, though. That seems like it would take the whole game day; bean seasoning is so slow! :P

  • I used this rule when crafting various beans, sauces, and foods today and it worked out. This is interesting for planning purpose.

Let us look at  typical xp needed for leveling as 100%
Each game day, you can earn 10% of this from donating.
Let us ignore xp from non-crafting activities, although that will speed us up quicker

Leveling in one game day model:
    90% left after donations.
15 crafting activities must be performed to xp limit.

Leveling in 2 game day model:
    80% left after donations.
Each day, (less than) 7 crafting activities must be performed to xp limit.

Leveling in 3 game day model:
    70% left after donations.
Each day, (less than) 4 crafting activities must be performed to xp limit.

Leveling in 4 game day model (for the ultimate grinding slacker):
    60% left after donations.
Each day, 2.5 crafting activities must be performed to xp limit.

Leveling in 5 game day model (for ppl who aren't actually grinding but happen to cook)
    50% left after donations.
Each day, 1.7 crafting activities must be performed to xp limit.

Now let us draft a list of easily done crafting activities. I have bolded my favorites. (Let us shoot for at least 15... I will add your favorites to the list too!)

    Proper rice
    Oaty cakes
    Bean tree beans
    Fruit tree beans
    Spice tree beans
    Bubble tree beans
    Gas tree beans
    Egg plant beans
    Wood tree beans
    Mild sauce
    Butterfly eggs
    Chicken eggs
    Piggy eggs

As for donating, I think beans are the easiest thing to donate. With EHSP, each has 45 favour and 99.99 xp (wood tree beans are different).

  • Oh super list, thanks Isabelle, I have unlearned all my transforming skills to speed up the new ones, and making salt was a PAIN! I didn't realize oaty cakes were almost as good to make. Yay!

  • What a great list Isabelle. I do the oaty cakes and the proper rice. I'll have to try some of the others.

  • @grelca: re: "I can't even imagine making 500 beans in one go, though. That seems like it would take the whole game day; bean seasoning is so slow! :P"

Each batch of 40 beans takes about 1 minute and 40 seconds (about 2.5 seconds per bean), so 500 beans actually takes only about 20 minutes. Believe it or not, it's possible to craft 500 of each type of bean in under two and a half hours! Assuming you have all the ingredients prepared and laid out in careful piles beforehand, that is. Of course you'd have to be totally bonkers to do anything like that. Heh.

*tries to look not totally bonkers*

  • I was totally bonkers, then. :) and I still am, since I'm still amassing ingredients for 2,000 seasoned eggs...

  • that's a really nice breakdown, isabelle, thanks! :D

i've heard proper rice is good, but i just really don't want to take the time to grow rice and i like to get stuff on my own rather than buy it!

also yes i have fallen in love with donating beans. i'm currently getting full donation xp (using ehsp) with about 100ish beans and making 200+ a day (doing both fruit and bubble now). gives me leftovers for lazy days (or when it's not the weekend anymore and i just don't have as much free time ;))

  • Just to be clear, by saying "it's possible to craft 500 of each type" Sirentist means "I did this last week"
