What’s new for 6/29 - 7/2

Herbalism Skills
Many of you loved the new herb gardens last test. Some of you loved the purple flower maybe just a little too much..eh? If so, our new herbalism skills for you
·         The Herbalism skills will help you reap more rewards when grow herbs.
·         Water. Plant. Harvest. Shuck. Clear.  You know the drill, now you’ll get the reward too!

Changes in Groups
Want to see what’s going on and who’s in a Group before you join?
·         In public groups, players that are not members of the group can see who is in the group before they join.
·         In public groups, players that are not members of the group can read what topics are being discussed..
·         New public groups will have these permissions by default
·         Existing public groups will have it turned on IF they currently allow these permissions.
·         Private groups are not affected. If you do not currently allow these permissions, they will not be turned on.

Animal Changes
·         Seems that the animals of Baqala are saddened by the nostalgia… Pigs, Butterflies, and Chickens no longer inhabit this space.

New Renderer
No need to leave out the milk and cookies, I’m talking about the performance testing from last week, not Santa’s aviation preferences.  Jono, what kind of cookies do *you* like?
·      During last week’s testing of the new, fancy, faster, renderer built for smoother play, the initial bugs were squashed and it’s now ready to go. All players will be using the speedy new client. Let us know what you think of it! Special bug report topic for it here.

  • Hmm - editing and saving my post above doesn't seem to work. I wanted to say "D'oh - didn't see Andonida's message above!"

  • Notice lots less lag this test thanks to new renderer, now I can venture back into the deeps to really test it, been advoiding the deeps like a plague.

  • @Twoodle- Witches!    (I'll not give good hints, only bad ones and the occasional Monty Python quote)

#kitcatkat- Brilliant- I'll add that to the wish list. ;)

@ Serenity- I'll look into it

  • It seems the way no-no powder works has changed but I can't find any info about it. Any help?

  • Should we assume from the OP that the test is ending today (2nd) then?

If so, this will sadly mean yet another missed Apocaparty - I think I've only managed to get to one so far...

  • re: server

last test the renderer was awesome. this test it was not nearly as good. it wasn't as bad as pre-renderer, but i did have a few crashes which were almost gone last test, and when the rook came, i often could barely move. don't know if this was because everyone was using the renderer or some other issue.

  • Surprised there were no new quests with the new herbalism skills...we have so few quests as it is...they also seem to be missing for blockmaking, and some of the other skills.

The new renderer worked great for me.

Never saw the rook, but often came on the aftermath...have appreciated the people posting pictures.

Appreciate being able to see into the groups now, and having the number of groups we can join expanded.  That helped!

Disappointed in the lack of currants after 20, but already posted that in the currants thread.

Overall, can't say that this test was better than the last, as was promised in the status.  It was okay...but step by little step...I guess. Maybe I've just hit that level 25 ho-hum point...

  • A lot more "working..." bubbles when clicking on items, but far fewer reloads overall. Sometimes things felt lightning fast, other times boggy. Still hanging on the exit page when leaving the world. Finally got to do some serious project work and I'm hooked! I love the teamwork and camaraderie that springs up on street construction and I'm doing my damndest to sock up resources so I can help again. I'll miss this part most after the reset.

I wish there was a quick way to ID what level people are just by looking at them without having to sort out their info page; sometime I just want to drop a quick gift on a flyby. Could the colors of the names in the area chat page relevant to levels? Starting at red for 1-10, orange for 11-20, green for 21-30, blue for 31-40, and purple for 41 and up, maybe? That would be an awesome way to know who would welcome a stack of meat, and who would annoyed.

I know we bitch and moan a lot, but really... I feel so very fortunate to be in on the ground floor of this game. Thanks, devs, and keep up the great work! (now... when can we get back in there? ;)

  • I had much fewer crashes this time than any of the recent tests, although there were still issues (like once my entire computer froze and hitting control-alt-delete did nothing so I had to do a hard reboot. I was simply trying to open an auction page while in game at the time). In Google Chrome I had to reload after awhile due to increasing lag, but I didn't notice as much of an effect in Firefox. Overall, much better.

And the Rook is freaking AWESOME! I had absolutely no problems with it whatsoever (experienced an attack twice in a row on the last day). Beautiful animation, and I love the dark music! Also, I think it's wonderful that it helps bring people together and encourages cooperation and interaction with the rest of the community. Bravo!

Was having problems with the map not updating or being inaccurate, but I'm sure that has been reported to death. It sure made it hard to work on projects.

Speaking of projects, the new nostalgia areas are pretty boring without current projects to work on, so it would be great if there were other things to do there (like at least some resources that aren't available anywhere else....)... Also, the juju's are georgious with all their different colors (and look very yummy), but they are far too rare right now.

Great overall! Thank you Tiny Speck for all your hard work and the endless surprises!

  • A lot less crashes this test than last test, and that would be thanks to the renderer right?

I never saw a rook in person. All the attacks I was too busy mining in Ilmenskie. It paid off, I purchased a 50k house. I just wish I had switched from farming to mining earlier, not only would I have had that house sooner but I'd also've be able to give my boyfriend a better gift for Recurse Eve. That 6k present feels so inadequate now... I almost feel like I've ripped him off.

I met some interesting people and I even made a few buddies. Also, someone told me my eyes were beautiful.

  • A lot smoother play, and much less crashes for me, with the renderer.

The Rook..what can  I say, loved it. Had lots of fun scurrying around to get to it. Lmao at the pigs, with the rolling eyes. They looked like they had eaten 20 purple flowers and gone to psychedelic hell, Ooo, lucky pigs.

Glad to off the animals who sulk and moan...

Onto the currants. Hmmmm, big hmmmm. I don't like it. I work the projects, love this aspect of the game. Projects at some time = currants, If you focus mainly on them, this can be a major hindrance. Sooo, yep, you covered folks going on about to many currants. What about the other flip side of the coin?
