appliances

machines that sit around and do things for you while you can do other things.

like for example in one's house, a tabletop grinder that'll grind spices for a while while you go do other things. or a stove that cooks things while you grind, and so on.

basically immobile tools that look cool and allow for greater multi-tasking. should wear out and require tinkering to fix, and should be monitored via a progress bar above them that can fill up as you putter about the house activating other machines and so on.

could also be placed in communal areas to promote gathering.

  • There are already some Remote Herdkeeping tools that obtain milk and meat for you, so extending that to do other things would be a welcome addition. ^^

  • yes, the herd keeping tools are interesting. their use is pretty high up on the skill tree tho so i dont think a lot of people have played with them. i just got the skill and placed the items in my yard at the very end of the last test. will probably test them during the next test, assuming no wipe. or learn that branch as quickly as possible, assuming wipe, alongside the egg seasoning skills and pre-reqs.

i think, based on using them a little, that the milker and collector and feeder would benefit a lot from an overhead status listing of milks collected, or time remaining until the next meat collection. the lack of feedback makes them difficult to plan around. tho i suppose we're supposed to time them ourselves and post the times up somewhere and use clock alarms on our computers or phones to alert us of when the milkers will produce, greater in game feedback mechanisms would make them more fun and easier to use.

also, make the timers accessible via API : ]
