Hi! I've just combed through the FAQ and forums trying to gleam as much information I can get on the new changes to learning. I asked this in another thread but this one is more relevant to my question, which I hope someone will be able to answer!
1) As I understand, players were given the new upgrades for learning time and brain capacity based on your calculated xp/iMG and what skills you had before. Was this done so that our 'productivity' would match exactly what we had previously? At BL5 and level 27, I ended up with the level III speedier learning upgrades for each skill (10% faster), and no brain capacity upgrades (though I still had 37 capacity - so maybe the upgrade just didn't show up in my profile?) There are so many factors, some more obvious than others, that went into it so I'm still slightly confused, and not sure if people in my situation were made better off or worse by the change, taking into consideration the time cost spent to learn all the BL skills.
2) Shorter question! I got a +3 brain capacity card so that my capacity stands at 40 now, but skill timers didn't change at all. Same thing happened to a friend. Is this supposed to work like this?
3) With more upgrades to learning now, does that mean we can get improvements to learning beyond even what BL5 offered before??
1. 37 capacity was the original amount you had for having all 5 BL. I'd heard that the capacity had been raised to 50 though for having all 5, if you had enough iMG for them, since the percentages or something were raised for some sorts of reasons. I need to find and re-read that post to make sure I understood it fully the first time around. Soo.. take the 2nd sentence in this paragraph with a grain of salt, because I'm not really sure, and official clarification would be great.
2. I don't know!
3. I believe so! I'm not sure quite how it is for BL, but there are definitely improvements that weren't around before for other skills, and this system seems to give us a lot more flexibility to improve things.
"You have been rewarded with imagination for them!"
Let me get this straight:
I was level 60, with maxed BL. I got the "standard" level 60 iMG. So, part of that iMG was "given" to me in exchange for the skills that went away, and then was subtracted to pay for the comparable upgrades. But, in order for these skills to be the same as they were before, I need to spend more iMG.
Do I have this right?
If so, do I assume that the majority of people at level 60 also had BL maxed? At this point, I'm not judging, simply trying to understand.
Why has ts not just released this information as opposed to having us trying to figure it out? It's not like better learning didn't cause enough head aches back in the first beta when it existed.
@Audaria I would guess that most level 60s had all skills learned before the IMG change (as well as probably most other players who'd been playing long enough). I for one had learned all the BL skills within the first several weeks of play.
I think the thing to keep in mind is that we are in beta, which drives TS's attitude that "it's OK for there to be some hiccups for existing players." The only risk in my mind is the implicit assumption there that there are a lot more potential players who aren't currently players. I don't know what the potential audience for this game is, but I wouldn't be surprised if they've already had most of that audience try out the game.
