Changes to Engineering Skill

Engineering has always be rather lacklustre. Only granted the player to build machines (which can be found in community halls anyway) and to produce tools, IF the player has Tinker 4 or 5, (which can be brought very easily and at a cheap price anyway from the NPC tool stores) so, I propose this, firstly, be able to produce upgraded tools which can't be brought from NPCs ( I do realize this has been covered in many many forum posts already) but, also, have perhaps a small, passive buff, when creating powders/smelting/tinkering and other 'science' based activities. Perhaps, something like a 5% reduction in energy used.

  • +1  I recently posted in an idea about upgradeable tools that it should be something a Tinker is able to do.  I also +1 (times three) the idea of the buff, because if you've done the extra learning, you should get some kind of reward for it.  So far I haven't used engineering at all because it just doesn't seem to be in demand.

  • I'd like to see Engineering used for more than upgrading tools, particularly other kinds of machinery or tools that don't exist without using Engineering. I think it could be the coolest skill tree if there was just more to engineer.

agree with. + I would like to set up mechanisms: roller skates, hand trucks, newsstands, advertising boards, robots, watches, etc.

  • This has been partially implemented already:  in the past few days they've removed the upgraded tools from vendors, and they can now only be bought from other players.
