Broken items up for auction

I just bought a broken frying pan from auction.  Now, I understand buyer beware, but there's no way of knowing the status of a tool when it's in the auction house.

Can we at least get the icons to reflect this?  Show the 'energy bars' below the tools that have them, and show the broken tool with the circle and slash on the ones that don't.

  • Shouldn't the image be of a broken pan? Or is it just MOSTLY broken? You'd think it would show in the image that it is broken. Perhaps we need a separate item? The broken frying pan? You could use a tinkertool to turn broken frying pans back into regular ones, same as always, they'd just be different items.

  • A frying pan hasn't got a "durability" bar like (for instance) a shovel.  The only way you'd know it was "mostly broken" is if it broke the first use after buying, and based on the breakages I've had with my frying pan and knife and board, I'm not sure they're really durability based like a hoe, shovel, watering can, etc.

On topic, I agree, it would be very helpful to know if you're getting a very good deal on a working item, or mildly ripped off on a broken one.  Showing the status bar or broken tool image would be just right.  I thought I read on another thread that staff is "looking into this" and an implication that they agreed it would be good to know the condition of what you're buying.
