Resource Routes

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the people who are organising and maintaining them, as well as the people who are on them.  I've just done a gas tree run and it was fab.  Lots of lovely glitchen have added peat, jellisacs, barnacles etc as well.  I just think it's great and wanted to say as much. All part of why this game is so addictive /appealing.

  • Foofala and others--thanks so much! It feels great to know they're appreciated. I do still run around in Ur on harvesting runs as well, but if you need a lot of something quickly, it's a nice way to get yer' stuffs.

And, also...anyone is free to join a route as well, so you're cordially invited to join ussssss. :)

  • Foofala, thanks, I think the Glitchen on the routes get a lot back in return for our efforts - curating a route is a great way to meet a lot of visitors fast! :D

  • Glad people are taking advantage of these routes! I'm on the gas route and jellisac and peat route! It's been a blast and I love being part of the community

  • ^_^

That about covers it. You're so welcome! I love being on the routes. I also love it that a few more people just joined the Barnacles & Fireflies route.

  • I just started exploring the routes and I can't get over how awesome they are.

  • While the Housing Resource Routes group doesn't have an animal route just yet, everyone's welcome to stop by my yard if you're looking for animals. 34 pigs, 17 chickens, and 16 butterflies await your magic touch (as well at 15 trees and a dirt pile, if you're into that.)

  • I just became a happy new member of the barnacle/firefly route!  Earlier I did the jellisac route and it was FANTASTIC!  So efficient and I got so much more jellisac than I would have wandering around the bogs.

Thank you to the organizers and curators of this awesome idea!!

  • I was on a resource route before R2, wherein trees became breakable. Now, everything has a lifespan, and, having seen the costs of restoration, I frankly don't want to be the guy who broke somebody's patch along a route. So, I probably won't be rejoining any resource routes, and I like won't patronize them, either. Too much pressure. They're a brilliant idea, though.

  • I encountered lots of "broken" patches along the route.  I went back home to get some supplies and contributed at least a little (and usually a good amount) to whatever project I came across.  If everyone contributes just a little, it can have a big impact.

Also, when I joined I was told I could go on group chat and ask for help restoring.  The people who sign up for this know full well that restoration will be needed.  :)

  • But patches now last "the lifetime" of the trees. So no worries about trees, just other resources.
I've seen tons of broken stuff on my route runs, and by the time I gather some of the restorative ingredients, someone else has already been by and put in more!
It's not your responsibility to personally restore the entire thing (even if you're the one to break it), it's a group effort. Just put in what you can, and so will others.

I'm on a route myself and I don't expect someone to fix a project all on their own. A bit of help, sure, but not the whole thing ;)

  • I love the resource routes, and fully intend to join the bean one (I planted some trees yesterday.) I have no problem with keeping some resources on hand to help out with any projects that are needed along the way. And I like leaving presents for the homeowners. Once in a while, I run across the homeowner while coming through and that's even more fun!

  • I was on a route, but I've been busy fiddling with the inside of my house since the release. I'll rejoin one soon as I decide which (maybe the beryl/dullite route as it matches my theme...)

  • Regarding "breaking things into projects"

I'm on a route and my jellisacs break all the time, I haven't had a problem (yet) with people not pitching in. I rarely put lots of resources into the Jellisacs because I want to encourage people to pitch in a little here and there when they can. Often I'll only tool for 10 or 20 uses.

Don't be afraid of breaking something! Curators and people who host parts of the routes typically know what they're getting into and won't be concerned over cultivations being turned into projects :)

  • I've been stockpiling resources for rejuvenation on the sparkly route. Between that and the generosity people have shown in helping fix tapped-out resources, I think it'll be a lot easier and smoother than we might think. :)

  • As Merth noted, most people on the resource routes realize that the plots do eventually break down.  I've just joined one of the tree routes (yay!) and am starting to stockpile supplies for bean-making, but I think I'll generally leave the rebuilding of my street plots to visitors on the route.

With the most recent housing release, the devs have pretty clearly designed rebuilding plots to be a /community/ effort, rather than putting the upkeep of the plots entirely on the shoulders of the home owner.  They take so many resources, after all, and it'd be really hard for me to rebuild and replant all fourteen tree plots I have in my front yard right now on my own.  But when the costs are spread out over multiple Glitchen, I think it's actually quite manageable.

Anyway, I know I personally can't pass a broken plot without contributing /something/ to the rebuilding costs.  Or if I break one (which I've done a couple times, whoops), I do what I can, but don't feel too awful if I don't have /all/ the supplies to fix it.  I'm not the only one who used the plot, after all, so I have faith that someone else will come along and help fix it up.

  • You're welcome!  And thanks for the free advertising!  heh.

I'm on the bubble route and haven't had to replace a single tree since launch, when I put in all 8.  I did, however, stock other resources down the left side of my street, all of which have worn out, and almost all the work was done by passersby.

Sunday night while getting ready to log out, I noticed all 4 of my barnacle pods needed loving.  One was partially restored, so I finished it up.  The other 3 were untouched, so I left them like that and went to bed.  Woke up to those 3 fully functional.

I've since decided they are just not my responsibility to restore.  And it seems to be working that way just fine.
