"Magic" items

One of the mainstays of RPGs is to have magic items. You know, a +1 flaming sword. That kind of thing.

Currently the random drops that you get in the game all feel kind of interchangeable. To me, a music block is not that different than a gem. They're just stuff that I will donate or sell.

What if you could get "magic" things? Like a +5 fancy pick, or a +2 earthshaker? I think it would make the game more interesting, as well as the auction house.

  • It might, but it could also encourage competition or a sense of being 'better' than someone else.
    Glitch as it stands, is a co-operative game. Good idea, but- I think it'd be better suited elsewhere.

    Or I should say, I only see it working in two ways:

    1. It's a gag item.  -The item works exactly like any other item but says, "This hoe is +1 in the realm of Hoeing. It's a Hoe above all other hoes!"
    2. The bonus is relatively minimal.  - Say..  The Hoe gives you a +1 bonus to energy every 10-20 times you use it.

    That way, having it would be more humorous than beneficial- People would be less competitive against each other.

  • I like the idea of it being humorous. I don't think it's important to give the player a game advantage. I just want these items to feel "special".

    I'm not trying to make the game more competitive. I'm trying to see if we can make it less monotonous. When you are a high enough level, getting a jewel or a music box or a messy fry up is not that exciting.
