How about one official forum topic where any actual pre-opening announcements can be made - for our planning. Then those who complain about having to waste their time snarking out people who ask questions about it, can spend their time snarking about something else. (BTW I love the word "snarking" and any other form of snarky)
Heard of Pavlov's dogs? Well even more interesting are Skinner boxes - the gist of which was this. If you always reward a behavior, or never reward a behavior, it's really easy to retrain the subject to stop doing the behavior. But if you SOMETIMES reward the behavior, the subject will keep trying, and keep trying, and keep trying to get the reward.
I notice that SOMETIMES one of the devs or whatever we call the powers-that-be around here, will mention something in some random forum discussion about when we'll be coming up next. So some people who stumble upon that info have it. Those who don't have as much time to read forums do not have that info, but they know that SOMETIMES it is available if they ask. So... they ask. If there was one place, for real info, and we were all "trained" to look there... well I'd be snarking about something else right now, or sleeping, or something.
+1 Thee. A sticky with just, "We're not sure yet... updates soon!" And then we could all head there. Better than what's up now. And I agree, I always go to the "when will it open" threads on the off chance a dev has sneaked in, because sometimes they do.
