Housing observation

I'm in a place in Bortola. It's pretty nice, with three tree plots and 8 garden plots and the usual other things. I'm saving up to upgrade to a nicer place (specifically, one with more tree plots and garden plots) and have discovered that to a large degree, there is no reason to upgrade from my current house until I get 30,000-50,000 currents. Some "middle-class" homes would be good.

There are some listed that are priced higher than my current house, and lower than 30-50,000, but they don't seem to have any better features than what I already have, so there's no reason to buy them. A general observation.

  • There are some 10,000 current homes with 5 patches and 16 plots (and 32 slot cabinets). But they are Meadow homes and mostly all bought up.

  • Oh, yes. I have just recently purchased a 10k home with 5 trees and a 32 slot cabinet (holds a lot of stuff!) as Bacon has mentioned.

  • (And as an aside, not meant to hijack, I recently sold my 10,000cur home. I decided I should leave the new owner a house warming gift. Link. All 32 slots with full stacks.)

  • Glitch is the only game I have ever seen where players actually compete to be the most munificent (and not in a cynical way!), one of the really good things about it.

  • "Some "middle-class" homes would be good."

choosing to gradually upgrade presents problems, as you throw away 20% of the value of the home each time you sell.

the more buying and selling you do, the more currants you bleed.

  • What features do you want? I've got an egg plant, 4 rooms with floors on which to drop stuff, a dozen herb plots, barnacles, fireflies an 18 slot (?) cabinet I never use all for 10k
Not to mention 2 tables for standing on :)

(I change houses practically every test - is that why I never reach 50k currants?)

  • @Supershero: It's an astute observation. And you're right that there isn't a significant variation. You're paying 10x more for minor home upgrades.

Feel free to disagree with me but I kind of like the low and high range of homes. At the low end, it gives beginners and casual players an opportunity to get a house without too much effort. At the high end, it gives veteran players something to strive for.

Long-term, stoot has said that they will have home upgrades post-release. So in the future, I think people will likely be spending more money on an inexpensive home and deck it out with stuff and upgrades. Rather than a middle-class home that is bare.

  • I think some of the lower priced homes are much better value than the high end homes...but I base value on number of tree patches (not number of garden plots) or unique items, like herb gardens/barnacles and also number of cabinet spaces (I know I can drop things on the floor, but I like some level of neatness in my home).
