Community Kitchen Easter Plop Hunt - THE WORK OF MANY

Hoping for a Bugsbury Creme?

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes well you just might find you get -- a piggy plop!

UPDATE - The Work of Many

The contest is now finished, but there are still some prizes to be awarded.

While the slowness in awarding prizes is totally on me, the Easter Plop Hunt itself was made possible by the work of many. So before announcing the final prizes and prize winners, I want to give applause to those who made it happen:

The original inspiration for the hunt came from Flowerry Pott. In addition, Flowerry provided many, many plops; helped to hide them together with prize notes; and served as a contest official.

PTB3 provided ideas that resulted in an event that was both feasible and interesting. He also helped to hide plops and prize notes, and stepped in to an eye on things when I had to be offline unexpectedly.

Flowerry Pott, Ginnis and Enid provided emblems, essences, and cubimals to be given as prizes. Anglic Acid served as a contest official. Help with logistics was provided by Sir Clare, Bunnieboo, and several plop hiders who prefer to remain anonymous.

The food prizes for the event are the work of the Community Kitchen, a group of Glitchen who enjoy preparing food for the community and supporting events that help to make our game world a friendly and fun place. There are too many people in the group to mention each by name, but you can check out our group to see the roster of members. In addition to the group members, thanks also goes to others who have made donations to the Community Kitchen.

UPDATE - Forum Drawing Winner

Each person who entered for the forum drawing was sent a plop, an ID phrase and a secret code. One of these is the winning combination for the grand prize. Check my posts below to discover the winning combination.

-----------------------------
UPDATE - April 6, 2012

There are two contests. One is a drawing that you can enter by being one of the first 100 people to post to this thread. Each person who posts (except me, of course) will be mailed one piggy plop and one note. One plop+note will be the winning combination, and the person who gets this will win the prize for the drawing.

The second contest is the hunt, which will be held this weekend  At various times on Saturday and Sunday, some plop+note combinations will be hidden in Ur. If you find one of these, you can claim your prize by presenting the note and the seed to one of the contest officials, whose names will be posted here during the hunt. Alternatively, you can claim your prize by mailing the note and the seed to me. You must return an original note to claim a prize. Copies will not be accepted. Each player may redeem one note and claim one prize from each game day.

Every note+seed will be redeemable for a prize. Most of the prizes will be small, but there will be larger prizes as well, which may include stacks of food, herbal essences, and emblems. The specifics of the larger prizes will be announced after their plops are hidden. There also will be a super winner for the hunt, chosen at random from among all those who claim a prize from the hunt by midnight on Sunday, April 7. You must actually participate in the hunt to be eligible for this super prize.

Contents of the super prize will be announced soon™

UPDATE - April 7, 2012

If you find a piggy plop with a note entitled Easter Plop Prize Note, you can redeem the note for a prize in one of two ways:

1. Find a contest official in the game (they may be anywhere) sometime before midnight PDT on Sunday April 8, 2012. Hand the note to the contest officlal and describe the seed you found in the plop. You will be given a prize and you will be entered into the drawing for the hunt super prize. You also may get a bonus prize for redeeming the note in-person. Check my most recent post for a list of current contest officials.

2. Mail the note to Splendora before midnight PDT of Sunday, April 8, 2012 along with a description of the seed you found in the plop. You will be mailed a prize and you will be entered into the drawing for the hunt super prize.

Contents of the super prize will be announced soon™

UPDATE - April 9, 2102

The contest is now closed. Winners will be announced soon™

  • There may be some who can't be online this weekend -- or who fear the dark and hidden places of Ur (I'm looking at you, Agoraphobe). To give those folks a chance for a prize, I will be sending a plop+note to the first 100 players who make a post here that correctly fills in the blank for the following sentence:

Once upon a time there were four little rabbits, and their names were Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail and _____.

One plop+note, given randomly, will be the winning combination. The person who gets this lucky combination will win: 50,000 currants, 1 essence of purple, 1 essence of rubeweed, and 2 spoiled strawberry seeds.

(Contest void where prohibited by Lem.)

  • Are some of you "cheating" by looking at the other posts?

The person who answered Sniffles the Great is obviously honest and creative! Is anyone else bold enough to risk being original -- knowing that I may consider honesty, creativity, and boldness to be their own reward?

    Edit
The person who wrote Lord Briarphart (while I was posting) is just wrong. And somone looked at another post.
Posted 8 months ago by Splendora Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Of course, being willing to be wrong is one of the five keys to happiness (though I could be wrong about that).

Thanks to a generous donor, prizes for the hunt will now include: Emblem of Pot, Emblem of Friendly, Emblem of Spriggan, Emblem of Alph, Emblem of Humbaba.  (This is not the complete list, just wanted to give appreciation for the donation.)

(Of course: Once upon a time there were four little rabbits, and their names were Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail and Peter.)

  • once upon a time there were four little rabbits flopsy mopsy cottontail and stoot. They found themselves lost in a land called ur. the only way they could get home was to hide their colorful eggs and hope enough glitches could find them to make chocolate bunnies. If enough were found to make the binnies hey would be magically transported back too their meadow knowing they made the gliches of ur happy and themselves fulfilled as easter has come to ur.
