Wonderful Wednesday - Introducing Towers!

Update 1: new towers are suspended while we work out some kinks. Sorry!
Update 2: issue is fixed for new towers, we're fixing up the ones that failed now
Update 3: Wine of the Dead should now be working correctly for everyone

If you head to your home street you'll find a new choice in the cultivation menu; the Tower. Each player can build a single tower on their home street (once they reach level 18), although the process is pretty expensive.

Once built, towers can be decorated just like your house, but visitors to your home street can enter them. Whether you're looking to sell items through vendor SDBs, tell a story, showcase your favorite rare items or just show off your decorating skills, towers are a good place to do it. If you need more space, just build another floor (up to 9 for now).

If you're high enough level and have the materials handy, give it a go and let us know how you get on. Comments, bugs etc should be posted in this thread.

  • The first people who get theirs built should post links to their Home Streets here so others can go check 'em out.

  • And before anyone complains about the lack of exterior options, more are coming in the future. Just hang onto your hats. Also more hats will some day come too I bet.

  • Bees!: Yeah, I wish I hadn't sold my 20 wall segments last week. Oops. ;)

  • If I put this tower down, can I then nudge it or remove it later on, if I no longer want it?  More importantly, can towers wear hats?
Posted 5 months ago by glum pudding Subscriber! | Permalink
  • are towers nudgeable? or do i need to place it perfect the 1st time??

**thanks apo! ** the anaswer below is yes!
Posted 5 months ago by serenitycat Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It doesn't appear that they are nudgeable.

Edit: Nevermind! Just not nudgeable while you're building it. ;)

  • I just went and donated to Frodo Alpha-Turkey's tower because it's like an old-timey street project (which I miss terribly). I want to see one built up!

  • I have one on my street, far right:  http://www.glitch.com/locations/LHVHRALAJ1V2V7C/

But how do I get in?

  • [Edit: This is no longer an issue. Price was changed to a flat 20k iMG. Hooray. See link from stoot: www.glitch.com/forum/genera...]

    Obligatory whining post.

My tower costs 247,509 iMG. If I had to guess, it uses the same exponential growth formula as any other cultivation, but since it has a much larger base price, you get royally screwed if you build this item last on a nearly full street.

Assuming there is only one tower per street, I have to wonder why there isn't a limit on this exponential growth, or even a set price. It seems a little crazy that since I have a fully developed street that I would have to pay such a high markup to build this type of item.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but If I built this item first, for I'm guessing around 20k, then built every other item to be rocks, (similar to my street) there is a savings of approximately 220k iMG. Seems strange that the current pricing system would create such a large disparity.

I'm going to have to pass on this for a long time because of this cost disparity for those with nearly full streets.

I think it would be very appropriate if the price growth was capped at a certain point, say a max price of 50k, especially considering this is one of a kind cultivation.

  • On the right: my tower's almost ready to go, just waiting for the wall segments to come in.

  • Are SDBs in the Tower secure?

And how many trees do I have to remove to  make room?

  • I need a "shovel" and my ace of spades doesn't count?  Are we doing that again?  :(
Posted 5 months ago by oscarette Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The number of cultivations on the street does seem to determine the price.  The base price for me is 20,000i, and I have no cultivations on my street.  I was going to build one -- I have the materials ready to go and all that -- but since I can't get rid of it once I build it, I've reconsidered.
Posted 5 months ago by glum pudding Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Probably.

  • regarding SDB security, it should act just like your house

  • Seriously. Now? I have to go to school while everyone gets towers. Well that's just plain annoying. But, at 3:10 I will be on to eat a tower.

  • Wow, let the whining begin! This is great, guys! Finally, I have something to work towards, that isn't doable in just a day!

    Thanks TS!

  • Glum, I'm sort of with you.  I'll let the early adopters take the arrows.   In the meantime I plan on selling into the now-insane wall segment market.

  • I hear ya Haze i am at 247,509

  • I'm pretty glad for all those entrepreneurs ;) Finally time for them to sell walls.
Posted 5 months ago by Palindrome Subscriber! | Permalink
  • How much space will I need. I don't want to kill off more trees than necessary.

  • Hm. It's an awesome idea but I'm not one to socialize so I don't think I'll be building one.

  • Okay, so my cost of 187K iMG doesn't seem so bad...but yea, wow, they are expensive...I was expecting 20K to 30K...this will take me a while to get built...congrats on those that have plenty of iMG...will have to come visit you folks! :D  Still...this is exciting!  :D
