I think they imagined only Ur originally as utopia. The giants themselves may have not even imagined hell at all. Could have been Trisor. But now that the rook has invaded Ur and made it less of a utopia, maybe the giants have a reason to imagine something better now.
I believe jiva AND Anya are right. Maybe there Summer's Day was supposed to be Heaven, but then it was forgotten over time, and then the Giants' didn't want to remember it until now.
Isn't heaven a monotheistic concept?
And aren't the Giants more like a pantheon?
And what about Valhalla?
After all, we fell in battle against....making plain crystals. Or cheese. Or ingots. Or just chatting on Global. Mighty warriors we.
@Woochi - I mean to say; I think Ur was meant as Utopia, and Hell didn't exist, at the time of the first imagining. Maybe Hell was imagined later for a certain reason. Or demagined, haha.
I like that this Hell seems to follow the ancient Greek model of the underworld - good or bad, everyone ends up there. It's not so much punishment (especially since Glitch death is only temporary) as it is just a thing that everybody has to deal with.
With all the recent Latin references and other tells in game, I'd say they were adherents to a Roman world view, rather than Greek, small as that distinction is (Rome's military and use of various forms of subjugation to control the masses, it's single most prevalent contribution to the world...if one can call it that, but unparalleled in the Greek system)
I agree. I too think Ur was originally imagined as perfect, needing no heaven. But somehow it has become a fallen world, (perhaps something to do with the rooks?) That is why there is a hell. But there is hope because we are still so early in the story. After all, we are still in the land of Ur!
Hell was only created when Clopunny committed the first murder when he killed his other half - Trisor. The Utopia of Ur fell, and Rook is only attacking us because he is pissed off and wants his Giant (Trisor) back.
Based on ruins within hell like the old shrines and a lone door standing by itself, I think hell is made up of old realities imagined by the Giants that were later destroyed, to be buried as new realities were imagined on top of them, the latest of which is our current beloved Ur. It has been hinted in various places that the giants fought among themselves in these earlier realities, destroying eachother's work out of anger and ripping the worlds apart. So hell is just the dark past that the Giants would prefer to forget.
