I understand that a lot of things are part of the game. Coming into your house by becoming a friend and then stealing everything should be punished by banning, imo.
I was just going to add something like this, or at least add the idea re big warnings about letting people in when you first buy your house, for those not reading the forums to get the message that stuff on the floor can (will) go walkabout.
Surely it can only be people too young to be playing (<14) that do this crap anyway.
This person is persistent and clever in his thefts - not just picking stuff up off the street. I doubt it is a preteen. I am guessing a 20-something who has no friends in RL and feels as if he is unjustly ignored by people. This is his way to get attention - even if it is negative attention.
Oh man. +1 MILLION. This happened to me too. Not via key feature but just someone being let into my house and running around stealing stuff before I was able to kick him out. And nope no punishment. :`(
I think the answer is; once bitten, twice shy? Only ever let people in that you trust, otherwise don't leave stuff lying around! How can you prove that someone took all these things without permission, or at all? And then how do you go about seeking a ban?
This person is shooting themselves in the foot as you'll never talk to them again, let alone let them into your house! And of course you'll be warning your friends about them too...
Accepting a friend request doesn't grant the person you're friending any privileges. When you give someone a key, it does warn about the privs you're giving.
In this case, he is randomly knocking on doors with a story that he wants to see the house since he is in the market. Being nice Glitchen, people let him in. He then proceeds to strip their house and leave. The message here is to not trust everyone and not let people even in the door unless you know them. Much like RL, sad to say.
Yes, Kookaburra. That is completely true. I will take longer to have a conversation with a glitch before letting them in my house. On the upside, an outpouring of friendship was offered and I realize that there are more good people than bad. Just like RL.
i would love to see there be a quest if you are victim to such a confidence scheme. this would undoubtedly involve the bureaucrocs and would give you a chance to pursue justice and exact comeuppance. somebody should take this idea and figure out how it would work!
We need a 'guest' feature when giving folks access to our homes. I had some weirdo knock on my door the other day, and it was sort of obvious they were looking for folks to invade and steal from.
I went out side, they handed me no no (which i dont need or care about) and I just sort of looked at them for a few seconds and said 'ok, ive had enough of your @#$%' and teleported away.
Devs: please add some options when admitting folks to our homes:
1) guest access - they can come in but can NOT pick up anything at all
2) friend - they can come in but can only pick up things laying around (no cabinet access)
3) trusted friend - access to cabinet + access as stated in #2
4) room mate - they can grant others access levels. possibly there could be levels of room mate too, where the basic one only allows others #1 access (IE, they cant pick up stuff)
What do you guys think? I was so mad at that weirdo for coming to my house.
ALSO: we need to have a privacy mode we can choose - and have it left set as we choose until we change it - so that if we want to have the house appear empty and keep away disturbing knocks. It will say just that, instead of telling folks we are at home.
Sure I realize this is quite anti-glitchen in its thinking, but with more and more folks on here and not just the small alpha-beta community, we are going to have more incidents of folks taking advantage until a few things are changed.
It is possible the person knocking on your door was just trying to catch an animal and accidentally clicked on your house (you don't have to aim for or hit the door because the entire house, if accidentally clicked, generates a knock), and the no-no gift was just that, a gift. I don't use no-no either (not currently working on Death Badges), but I would not automatically assume it was anything other than a well-meant gift.
Unless the person tried the scam on you (of seeing the interior of your house before buying one themselves, with the intent of stripping all valuables off the floor), you may have been incredibly rude and confusing to an innocent party who had just given you a gift.
