The first issue of The Glitchen ImaginatUr is UP!

Thanks to a great group and some great writers, we've finally published our first issue of the newspaper.

We'd love any feedback you can give us.  We'd also love to have more contributors, writers, designers, classified-ad-needers, comic-writers!!  If you want to contribute to our future issues, we'd welcome you to our group with open arms - http://www.glitch.com/groups/RIFNHSG6JSD2EEJ/

Most of all, enjoy the issue!  The Glitchen ImaginatUr

  • Its very good! I love the content.

I would say that when you get a chance hire a coder and move away from wordpress as it looks more professional.

Great to see a new fansite idea!

  • Ahh. It's like Neopian Times... but done solely by players this time around. Refreshing.

  • Nytician, you might disagree, but as a web developer myself, I think there's totally a space for wordpress.  actually it's my first recommendation for small non-profit stuff where you really aren't about to go out and pay for a custom design, and if you aren't brave enough to try drupal 7 :) it's even possible to do full-scale large commercial projects in WP, with custom widgets/plugins.  I once applied for a company near here that specialises in just high-end commercial wordpress or magento sites.

to the editors/coders/designers - looks like you've gone and got a relatively non-default theme (unlike if you went with the 2010 theme or something, now THAT would look WP).  I couldn't tell it was WP anyway unless you looked at the credits.  great start (i read through the paper normally too, didn't just look at site design lol), looking forward to seeing more!

i've joined the group on the off chance you'll ever need a casual illustrator/poet...
(edit: obviously i do web development too but it looks like you already have a coder/designer :))

  • I loved it! Just had a little trouble with the No-No interview not being completely reader friendly. IMHO At the cost of the article spanning a larger length you should put a space between each question and reply of the interviewer and interviewee to give it more white space. White space is your friend! cause I found myself highlighting text so as not to get lost in the block text. (TimeLord=being nit-picky) lol

  • The layout looks great.  I love the humor in the writing.  The interview with Rev. Lightbringer was awesome, although I do agree with TimeLord that it was a bit tough to read.  But worth it.

This is a great idea.  It's so creative.
    +1

  • Wow!!!  Thanks for all the great feedback everyone.  We worked really hard on this and I'm so proud of our 1st issue :)

Nytician, I have a budget of exactly $0 so I relied on my husband to fix up one of the free themes you can use on Wordpress.  I looked into several different options and found that this one worked best for what I wanted to do.  I'm happy with how it turned out.

Lara, thanks for the comments!  Poetry would be a great addition and who knows, I may ask you to help out with the web design if you want.  :)  It definitely isn't my strong suit!

TimeLord and Poppy - thank you for the feedback.  I went ahead and put spaces between the questions and answers.  I hope it's better now!
