I have enjoyed playing Glitch over the last few tests, but my personal feeling is that in its current incarnation, it wouldn't sustain my interest for much longer. That said, I would be the first to admit that I am not the target audience.
While playing it during the last test, I was noting that I had started to evolve from a hunter/gatherer to a farmer and consumer. It was gradually better to have a farm with crops and animals and to buy things off of the auctions than it was to wander around collecting things. I was also struck by the irony of my ancestors working so hard so that I could become civilized enough to pretend to do this again.
So now that I'm at the "what next" stage of Glitch, I wonder if the next stage is to become even more civilized? This has been hinted at with "in game government" poll questions, etc. However, it's difficult to see how we can evolve in the game. Do neighborhoods become economies/government/states? Do we go to war? Do we eventually develop enough skills/technology that our little Glitchian can have a computer and play games where he pretends to run a farm?
Any thoughts?
