Glidditch

Quidditch in Glitch form...anyone interested?

I may have devised a way to play (with a bit of an honour system). I am curious to know if anyone would be interested in it, before I refine the game, find a good location and a few volunteers to help out.

Let me know if you think you would have interest in playing/volunteering/watching a game.

  • So, last I checked, this involves balls and brooms and flight.
And the ability to throw, block, unseat, etc.
None of which we can do.
Is this going to be, like, play by mail?

  • Flight. You know the underwater party room? Close enough.
    Or spinach. Everyone likes spinach.

  • Crashtestpilot, Glitch is all about imagination. So we are without flight, thats not the most important thing. The Quidditch team at my university doesn`t fly (yes, my uni has a quidditch team).

I was thinking of using dice as the bludgers, various items as the quaffles, two shrines as the goal posts and a person as the snitch. Same rules as in the game.

Only beater can throw the bludger. If you get hit with the dice, you roll to see how long you stay still for and drop the dice for the beaters to pick up again.

The keeper can throw meat at a player to make them drop the quaffle. Other chasers can throw grain (1 at a time) and 5 grains received while you have the rounds quaffle means you have to drop it. Avoid being hit too many times by passing the quaffle.

This could be played on three streets, a middle street where the quaffle will be released by a ref and two streets where the keepers can guard the shrines. The seekers however would play in an entire region (I.e. Groddle Forest) to try to track down the Snitch who is running around.

There are some free team shirts available to wear. The shirt could represent your team and the colour of pants the position being played on the team.

  • I'm going to see if I can set up a day and time sometime around the 18th. I'll post back here in a week or so.

In the mean time, if you are looking for something to do, check out my scavenger hunt:

  • Now I find myself thinking about sports that could be played with the means available to me. Not Glidditch exactly, (though it's cool that you're figuring that one out) but creating a new sport, like something involving that heart potion for example.
