Make it stop spinning!

Hey you lovely Glitches!  In the interest of nerdliness, I spun (spinned?) 400 game show tickets to determine the average value of each ticket and the chances of each reward per spin.  I know, super exciting, right?  Totally!  I peed a little!

Here's the RAWR data
prize        #          value         total
5c            56            5               280

25c          58           25             1450
100c        54         100             5400
BB-3        34         400           13600
bean        39             4              156
cubibox     4        5000          20000
DG-4       39           480          18720
DR-5       30           560          16800
ticket      25*               0                 0
XS-1       44           320          14080
XS-2       40           320          12800
XS-4         1           480             480
* I re-spun the spins that yielded tickets, so the actual pool of data is 425 tickets

Monies!
(value is calculated based on highest yield, i.e. musicboxes sold to tool vendor, beans at auction @ 4c each and cubiboxes @ 5000c each)
Total winnin's 103766c
Average value per ticket 244.15c

Chancies!
5c           13.2%
25c         13.6%
100c       12.7%
BB-3         8.0%
bean         9.1%
cubibox      .9%
DG-4        9.1%
DR-5         7.1%
ticket         5.8%
XS-1        10.4%
XS-2          9.4%
XS-4           .2%

This was really time-consuming because I couldn't cut and paste text from the local chat to record the items, therefore I had to enter each spin into a spreadsheet as I went.  Now, bow down before me and crown me The Queen of Mildly Useful and Possibly Interesting Information!  If you have bad knees, or otherwise don't feel like bowing, just send me a burrito.  I'm setting elf traps with them.!

Big ups to Aleph Zero, Ancale and anyone else I forgot who generously sent me their spare tickies!

  • I'm admiring your data (of course I am), but I have to admit I'm also admiring the straightness of the columns in your charts. It sure does look purty.

  • I once performed a similar experiment, but I used only one game show ticket. Results: 5 currants.

  • Would Cold Tacos work in place of the burritos?

  • so i was wondering, would it be possible to test the order of prizes, or do you think that would be any different than the results you got?

  • Abbey Rhode, hmmm, dunno.  Maybe a Choco Taco?

  • wuilyl, there was no obvious pattern established in the spins- I checked.  If there is a pattern (which I doubt), it's larger than a 425-spin sample.  That seems like a lot of extra programming work, but I know jack about programming so....

  • I still do not believe that anyone ever gets a cubi box from the wheel.  It has never happened to me.  All i get are beans and quarters.
