Food & Drink Profit Spreadsheet

Here’s a spreadsheet that might be useful to you cooks out there: Glitch Food & Drink Profit. It’s a new and improved version of my Food & Drink Cost Spreadsheet (for the Lazy)*. All of the recipes have been updated, and now you can adjust the cost of basic harvestables like cherries, bubbles, etc. to see how much a dish will cost to make. (Edit: Harvestables are items you can only obtain by harvesting or others' harvesting, and not through a vendor.) This shared version will not be modifiable, but you should be able to save a version for yourself.

The first sheet contains all of the basic values - a harvestables chart that will affect the second sheet's information, along with some reference information as to produce & grocery vendor items and simple harvestable conversions. The second sheet lists the items, recipes, harvestables versus purchasables, and cost versus selling price. The profit column will show items that sell at a loss in red, items that net you 0 through 10 in yellow, and items that profit greater than 10 per in green; these rules are also modifiable, if you like.

Again, the spreadsheet does not take energy cost into account at all, as it is geared towards players who have plenty of energy to spare. It also assumes that instead of growing or harvesting, you will buy ingredients (even things like mustard, strawberries, and buns) whenever possible because - hey, your time is valuable!

 Happy Glitching and bon appetit!

*You can see the old spreadsheet here, in case you’re interested. Recipes that have stayed the same are highlighted in gray; those that have changed are highlighted in pink. The majority of changes were due to flour requiring 5 grain now instead of 1.

  • This looks quite useful. What do the amounts in the harvestables "value" column represent - the cost to buy from a vendor? (bean = 4 what?) The section you say to edit.

If I harvest my own gas, should I be entering the energy cost to harvest 1 unit? That would be might handy. Thanks for all the hard work.

  • Harvestables represent all items that you cannot purchase from a vendor - you must harvest them yourself or buy them from auction. The value of these items may change based on various factors as availability of trees, street projects, etc., so I made an editable version where you can put in how many currants each harvestable is worth.

Re: your gas question, this spreadsheet does not take energy cost into account at all, so don't put in energy cost. If you harvest your own gas and decide that it cost you nothing because you got it yourself, put in "0". On the other hand, a vendor will purchase general vapour at 4 currants per, so you might wish to put that in as a value, so you'll know how much profit you made above and beyond the raw material. People who prefer to cook en masse for profit may purchase harvestables in bulk from auction, and so it makes sense to take their cost into account.

  • There's an error in your formula for Big Salad, you only have 1 spinach instead of 5.

But thanks a ton for the spreadsheet!

Also, part of the formula is missing in 105P, and simple bbq uses 2 meats.

  • Thanks for catching those, Abby - with so many changes, something was bound to get mixed up. Big Salad & Simple BBQ have been corrected. I don't see what's wrong with P105 for Rich Tagine? (since mustard is a purchasable)

  • You have spice as 4 and not 4*BasicValuesetcetc. Which it might even be 3? I totally didn't realize you could buy mustard! That's my neat realization for the day :)

  • I feel like we should compare notes. :D

  • This is epic. I've been tempted to do this for a while. Hurrah. Now I don't need to.

  • Thank you, Abby! Rich Tagine updated. If anyone spots other errors in there, please let me know and I will fix them.

By the way, Kookaburra & Whiskey Sour - I imagine some people will want to merge energy & raw material cost together somehow, rather than looking at them separately. For instance, someone might value their energy at X currants per energy point depending on their diet, so you could add in an energy column that takes into account the information from Whiskey Sour's spreadsheet. This was too much of an undertaking for me, but if someone else would like to do it... :)
