I'd like to make an unpopular suggestion! Whooopie!

Can Get Out of Hell cards please be nerfed?  The full-energy-tank-refill is kinda silly, and is a big reason why folks don't make food anymore.  I'm not a player who enjoys cooking in Glitch, so this is not self-serving (quite the contrary actually).  I've just noticed that those of us with giant energy tanks have little or no reason to eat because of the refill on these cards.  You're welcome to disagree and I won't get my panties in a twist, just don't insult my mom.

Might I suggest a 15% tank fill instead of 100%?  Let's haggle.

  • My tank is currently at 6830. It sounds like an enormous amount, but lately I've been going through it like mad. Teleporting and/or going to parties takes 10% each time. I probably do that about 5 times a day on average, which a half a tank. There's also the natural energy drain, which is a somewhere close to a full tank. So, that's about 10k energy right there. Before even getting to any crafting. I've been building my tower - so loads of mining & crafting that makes it easy to go through another 10k+ a day.

  • @Alaric I can easily use 100k+ energy in a game day seasoning eggs.

Also, -1 to this whole idea.

  • The new bonuses for eating different foods were a bonanza for people who cook. This helped them without making Glitch worse for everyone else.

Please don't nerf things, such as the full 100% revival from GOOHF cards, that make the game easier and more fun for more than 50% of the glitchen who play, just to benefit fans of one currant-making method.

  • I'm with the crowd that thinks if these cards will be nerfed, there needs to be an adjustment in energy management elsewhere. Drinking and eating restore negligible amounts of energy and mood if you have a huge energy tank (reasons why I don't buy upgrade cards for my tank). Having low energy isn't such a huge issue, you can restore it as you go - but having low mood severely impacts your iMG gain so keeping it above 90% at all times is important. Coming back from hell with low mood would be a pain for people with big tanks because getting that mood back to 90% is difficult with most regular activities giving between 5 and 25 mood, and mood drops frequently.

+1 to keeping the 100% mood and nerfing only the energy recovery, though, if a nerf comes to pass.

I'm still mostly in favor of adjusting food bonuses based on tank size (with a minimum value), though, to encourage people to use food items instead. Or maybe have upgrade cards that make eating more effective? Or a skill? A buff? Something?

  • I've only used two liek 2 GOOHF cards, but i have thought about abusing them for the free energy. My suggestion is do something like for the tickets, limit the # one can use a game day. could also couple this with decreasing returns (like 100% => 50% => 25% => 12.5% :P)

  • I'd really, really like food to be more useful. I love cooking.

  • The cards cost more as your energy tank grows.  I don't use the cards, AND I don't eat, so I don't think there's actually any cause for nerfing here.  When I did eat, I mostly used meat, which costs very little to obtain, and which doesn't require cooking.  I have such a surplus of img that the bonuses from eating cooked foods are immaterial to me.

In-game businesses of any sort will probably not be particularly successful because every player can learn every skill, and because if you don't make your own food/powders/potions/etc., there's very little to do in the game.

  • Surely since you can only die normally once per day, most people only use one a day, which doesn't seem excessive?

  • I watch my energy closely so that I have been to hell only 3 times. Never thought to use cards. However, I do like to farm and cook and sell what I make, and suddenly everything is dirt cheap[ look at the price of dirt and also molybdenum ingots]. It is hardly worth bothering. The pigs aren't even eating as much as they used to. Help us farmers. PLEASE

  • "-1 If you don't like them don't get them. No need to ruin the fun of everyone else playing. Ruining the get out of hell free cards won't suddenly make everyone start buying your over priced food." -Nuebot

As I said, I don't cook or sell food.  I'm not trying to ruin anybody's fun, and I'm not proposing "ruining" them.... but thanks for not trash talking my mom.

So for every game day, for the cost of 450img, I get 9000 energy to use rather than my tank of 4500?  I could also just buy a GOoHF card from a low-level/small tank player and potentially refill a JustinDaigle-sized energy tank ;)

  • I would also like this nerf, though I'd suggest a whole-number amount of energy rather than a percentage.  Maybe 500, or whatever your maximum is if you're not up that high.

Not if you're addicted to no-no

  • how is being able to restore a large tank of energy for next to no cost "fun" that is necessary for enjoying the game?

If you take a serious look at how these cards play in the late game, they are the definition of overpowered, taking away from other aspects of the game, such as cooking or meditation.  Much like seed rates and prices forced anyone who was actually serious about raising currants to do nothing but farm YC, anyone paying attention to the costs associated with energy and mood now uses GooHF cards, sometimes combined with no-no, for instant "free" energy.  Sure there is an iMG cost, but I'm not at max level and I'm sitting on 5 million iMG with nothing to spend it on -- I'd be absolutely insane to use any other form of in-game currency other than my iMG.

So "just don't use it" does not address the concern in the OP.  The OP's concern is not "I personally do not enjoy the game as much because of these cards" but "these cards trivialize the single most important game mechanic and minimize economic opportunities."  Disagreement that doesn't address that premise is meaningless blather.  I like GooHF cards.  But I don't see them, as they stand, as healthy for the game, even though they are convenient for me.  The two are separate concepts.

And it's true that they are useful, not overpowered, AND not as common for lower level players.  But that statement too does not counter the OP's issue, it simply reinforces the assertion that the cards as things stand are "broken."

And to me, I'd still be getting out of hell free if rather than squishing some grapes, I just instantly use a card.  Time is currants after all.
