UPGRADE CARDS: New glitchens are going to be confused by the mixed way they give bonus.

Dear Dev. Team

In Global Chat there are some (I can´t say many or a lot) glitchens that are confused about how much quoin they are going to get with every upgrade card they got to choose. I believe that this is linked to the nature of the bonus they give as a base multiplier.

Some cool suggestion added by commenters:
Carl Projectorinski: " dynamic wording, it might be best to actually list that Glitch's new score if they get that card"
Togger: "I think saying "raise your multiplier by 0.5" would be a lot clearer than "raise by 50%".
-Pascale: "This card will change your quoin multiplier from 14.5 to 16."
"This card will change your brain capacity from 36 to 38."

Sugestions about the wording of the Quoin card instead of multiplier:
-JillyBean: 'quoin enhancers'
-Mikah (hey, that´s me!): "quoin augmenter" - "quoin increaser"

Interesting development about this issue around the forums:
X v. % (Quoin Multiplier Upgrade)

  • If there's any way to make the wording dynamic, it might be best to actually list that Glitch's new score if they get that card, so it would be "Raise your mulitplier to 2.5x" or something like that.  I imagine that might be a bit of work, but it would be the clearest way to communicate what they do.

  • Not to mention that the wording seems wrong to me. "Add 100%" suggests doubling the current value, which is not accurate (except maybe the first upgrade).

+1 to Carl's suggestion to list the new multiplier directly, or even better an example such as "a Qurazy Quoin will give you x iMG".

  • I think saying "raise your multiplier by 0.5" would be a lot clearer than "raise by 50%".
There have also been people here in the forum that were not actually sure what the multiplier was, but that might be better explained in the faq than on each card.

  • Yes, the 50% and 100% is misleading. Wording it 0.5 and 1.0 would clarify it. Have reading it here clarified it for me. :)

  • Yes, "raise your multiplier by 0.5" would be an excellent change!

  • It used to be worded that way on the Upgrades page; it was recently changed to match what is on the cards.  I think it would have been better if it changed the other way.  It's inaccurate the way it's worded right now, because critical information is left out (100% ... of your original multiplier which is 1.)

  • Originally the cards were called "Increase your Quoin Multiplier by 0.5" or "Increase your Quoin Multiplier by 1.0" which weren't the best either but less confusing than the %. Maybe "Add 0.5 to your Quoin Multiplier" is slightly better.

  • What TomC said!
"Add" is exactly what those Quoin Multiplier cards do, so clarity in those would be great!

  • Why did I get two Quoin multiplier 50% cards costing different amounts in the same shuffle?  One cost 16,000 and the other 15,000.

  • Is there any limit to these quoin multiplier cards or does the deck get padded out with them forever?
Posted 7 months ago by Janitch Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Cassandria every card you buy increases in price because all cards add to your base set of skills and bonus.

See? that's other thing that might be confusing.
Posted 7 months ago by Mikah Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Well I am still somewhat confused.  Why would I pay more for the same card at the same time?
Posted 7 months ago by Cassandria Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Cassandria: Your confusion comes because they changed the "experience / EXP" for "imagination / IMG".

In the EXP system you need to unlock new and more upgrades by way of increasing your EXP, right? and every new level of EXP is harder to reach than the previous one, and when you reach that new level those upgrades are unlocked and you can buy them. You didn't noticed it, but you already had payed MORE for those upgrades than before: you played more hours, donated more, cooked more, planted more, etc.

With the IMG system is exactly the same, only it looks more organic because you got to decide what to buy and when... and IF you got the needed IMG to do so. Saaame story, different system.

  • "Why would I pay more for the same card at the same time?" — I dunno … seems like that'd be silly :)

The reason you have the same card for different prices in your hand at the same time: we don't remove or alter the other cards in your hand when you buy one of them. So, if you are buying some BC upgrades and have an older one in your hard, the price will be lower on the older one.

  • Mikah: we're still working on it (and will be for a while). It's was a big/complicated launch (and there's a lot more in development right now) so it may take some time to polish all the rough edges.

  • Janitch, I'm pretty sure that quoin multiplier cards are one of those that keeps on appearing.

  • Don't use the word multiplier and don't use percents.

  • Can you make it so Truly Outrageous V will never appear before Truly Outrageous IV?
Posted 7 months ago by AwesomeCardinal2000 Subscriber! | Permalink
  • AwesomeCardinal2000: there is no Truly Outrageous V.

Mr. Davbow: what would you call the Quoin Multiplier without using the word "multiplier"?
Posted 7 months ago by stoot barfield Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I think multiplier makes sense, but the use of percentages is definitely confusing. To me, anyway.
Posted 7 months ago by Millie Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Well stoot barfield "multiplier" can be confusing for monkeys like me because it implies you are in fact multiplying something directly proportional to the amount of "stuff" you are getting. I´m more "wordey" than "numberey".

Being stupid as I am, at first sight the word "multiplier" means "LIKE A TRUCKLOAD OF QUOINS DUDE!!!!1!!!!1!!ONE!" Wich is absolutely wrong.

Being less uneducated it could confuse you into think you are multiplying the number of quoins you receive from any coin by the number of any given card. Wich is wrong too.

The word could be "augmented" or "augmenter"... maybe "increase" in some degree?
Posted 7 months ago by Mikah Subscriber! | Permalink
  • There is none? Oh.
Posted 7 months ago by AwesomeCardinal2000 Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yeah, what Mikah said.  -_-;

And also?  One more thing?  Cards increase in iMG we pay for them with each card we get?  Is this true?  That's how it works??

Wow that really sucks.  :: sad face ::

  • Auren, I think the cost in iMG increases with each level, rather than depending on the cards we've bought.

  • This is one of the issues I wish staff would just give a straight explanation on, as opposed to just confusing everybody and making us feel mildly stupid.
Posted 7 months ago by Aurora Dellaterra Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I agree that they need to clarify, explain, correct. But I don't feel stupid. I know math. I recognize when it is not being applied correctly. No one should feel stupid about this. It is just wrong and the fact that we can't understand "glitch math" does not make us stupid. It means that glitch math is...stupid.

  • Yes, thanks Audaria. That's how I feel as well.

  • I love math but since I've gotten older and sicker my brain doesn't always "get" it anymore.  -_-    So when I say it's confusing me... this, from the girl who took up to Calculus III for the fun of it.  >_<

  • Once these cards are personalized, they will be a whole lot clearer.

"This card will change your quoin multiplier from 14.5 to 16."
"This card will change your brain capacity from 36 to 38."

    Consumer awareness FTW!
