I found a boot and it
had honey inside :)

Mine had olive oil!
-
Mine had 13 iMG
-
oh, I got a boot from a salmon. Didn't think to look inside. Mine had some spare imagination in it too (+17).
-
I got honey too :)
-
Must. Catch. Salmon.
-
Do you still have the boot after you look inside? Can you look inside again?
-
No it disappears Tibbi.
-
Not that I have a boot, but if it disappears I'd definitely feel tempted to keep it as is.
-
I got one after catching about 20 salmon or so. I'm sure it's random.People have boots already for sale in their towers. Going for about 3-4k.
-
Boots should have there own series of exclusive artifacts in them, it's the perfect place for it!
-
Honey, Olive Oill, iMG (around 10 - 20)
-
...where does a salmon keep a BOOT?
-
Mine had a Canadian in it
-
LOL shhexy :) Sandy must had blown that one in!
-
The boot seem to drop on a 6~12% rate from pocket salmons
-
iDylan: Like dolls from rube, yes.
-
Who can we get a boot?
-
Salmen
-
this can't be vendor replacement. that would be expensive honey / oil.
-
No kidding - imagine trying to make 100 of something like a seasoned bean (?) that requires 1 honey each. It would take forever to acquire 100 honey by fishing, then lucking upon the right boots...
-
Honey Boot Boot.....
-
I think it could easily be a vendor replacement if more honey and oil could be found in a boot say maybe 10 - 20?
-
It would be cheesy and uncreative if they just stick honey and olive oil in the game as rewards for NOT getting another resource.
-
It would also be a massive pain in the arse
-
As is, I kind of think catching salmen is a pain in the arse. Since they try to avoid players and move at the same speed as players (with one exception), the only really guaranteed strategy is to drive them into the corners. But they can swim below the "floor" of the zone, so you can only drive them to the top two corners. But that leaves them hiding behind either the avatar mood image or the zone minimap.
[the exception to the speed thing is that they swim a constant rate, and we sink faster than we swim. So you can drive them to a wall, get above them, and catch a few while falling, if there's no ledge in your way]
But then I remember that I haven't made cedar plank salmon since February when we used them as Valentine's decorations, and I relax. :D

Anyone experiment with hairball or spinach underwater?
-
Spinach helps a bit. The problem is clicking it to use it makes you stop moving, so you lose a lot of ground before you gain any. I stopped bothering after a little while, seemed to actually make it take longer.
Not sure on hairball.
-
"Honey Boot Boot....."
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
-
I used hairball and it does make me go faster. I didn't catch any fishes swimming normally, then when I hairballed up I got lots. It was the only way I could catch those pesky salmen.
-
I pocketed around 75 Salmen last night, 65 of which were Pocket Salmon and 10 were Boots.
Of the ten Boots, 6 contained Olive Oil, 3 contained Honey, and 1 Boot had +9 img inside.
Fun!
-
This is worse than fox brushing, haven't tried hairball yet.
-
In case you don't know what to do with your salmon: sandbox.verastrange.com/ind...
(Do people still do Sandbox missions? I haven't recently, lots of missions on the site I hadn't seen before...)
-
Chasing schools of salmen around is a surprising amount of fun!
Granted, I'm also just focused on fun and not at all concerned about the most efficient way to pocket salmen, so I'm not playing with additives... still managed maybe twenty salmen in about 5-10 minutes, though. I also grabbed two boots in that time: one olive oil, one packet of iMG.
-
I think the the salmon catching could use a little tweaking - right now it's just a little bit too difficult to work as a resource gathering method. A couple upgrade cards could make it more reasonable, I think - one that gives you more salmon per catch, and one that makes your "scare" radius smaller (letting you get closer to fish before they run away).
I'd hate for salmon catching to be another fox brushing - an activity no one does unless absolutely required. The fox preserves are so sad and abandoned.
-
I for one have found fox brushing very difficult, because I am older and are I am not so fast on the keyboard and mouse as some of the younger glitches.
-
I hear that all the time about fox brushing, yet I love it and it is the primary way I earn currants. I know others who feel the same, just as I know some already who really enjoy chasing salmen.
Be careful when you assume that because a lot of people vocally do not like something, all or most or even just a simple majority must not like it. Those who are happy or content are much much less motivated to voice their opinion than someone who is frustrated.
-
The salmon fishing to me as as bad as fox brushing. hate it. I Love Jal for swimming and getting my quions, but sorry TS please think of us with not so nimble fingers.
-
I think they have: auctions and vendors and trade windows.
-
Another great solution to salmon pocketing is to work in teams. Works best with three Glitches. Two of Glitches heard the salmon toward the third Glitch (possibly one with slow fingers), and then when the salmon are cornered, everybody gets to pocket one or two. It's lot's of fun!
-
I have only had time to catch one boot. I don't really remember what it looks like. I'm wondering if it's always the same side boot or if there are left and right boots.
Doesn't matter of course. But I'm curious, especially for decorating purposes.
-
-1 to fishing, way too fast (same for fox brushing), way to stress-y for me. Hate it.
I'm neither a seal, nor am I a trawlerman (don't even have a net),
I'd much rather make a fishing line and fly-fish! Fly fishing, now there's a leisurely activity!
-
I love the salmen catching, it is fun...BUT...like ~Scilly~, I'd love to also be able to fish using a pole.
One of the reasons I had wanted to have the ability to fish in this game is for the relaxing play of it. A way to be able just to kick back and chat without having to stop what I'm doing.
It's why I use to love cooking and bartending so much. I could cook while chatting or scouring the auctions (the slow-assed snail-frogs kinda took the auction fun away, tho).
Everything else in this game seems to be rush, rush, rush to play or stand still to chat.
Of course, this is JMHO, tho :)
-
I actually enjoy the fun of fox brushing - but the fishing is way too hard - I am a mouse player and find myself desperately wishing for three hands!
-
Miss melody, you and I can use jal for quoin-swimming, and harvest the slower animals, and leave the fish and foxes for the nimbler folk. :) Or be the stationary member of a fishing team.
-
Wouldn't it be cool if we could team up with two or three others and spread out a net to nab a bunch of salmen at once?
-
Kind of like the bubble net fishing that whales and dolphins do? I always wanted to be a dolphin when I grew up.
-
I've managed to snag a couple of these salmen, but then it says 'moving you closer to' and by the time my Glitch has moved closer, the wretched salmen has left the building! =(
Oh, and: I bought a few fishies at auction, they were clearly listed as Salmon (as in SalmOn), but when they hit my inventory they changed to Pocket Salmen! grumblegrumbleGRUMBLE ;(
