omg!!! the rook has a 1/2 chance of spawning on any street??! my @ss!!!

i just tried to spam rook attacks today but for some reason all my rolls failed with my 12 sided die; i have rolled a rook about a bazillion bajillion times but no rook has come!!!!! is this just bad luck or because theres a hidden formula for using 12 dice rolls at a time????? the rook attack frequency should be 1/3 or 1/4 at least!!!!!!!!!!!! discuss

  • The rook attack frequency is 1/12.    Not 4 out of 12 (1/3) or 3 out of 12 (1/4).

But that is only over a long run of thousands of rolls.  In the short run, it's not unusual to go for 100 rolls without the rook appearing.

You have a 92% chance of NOT rolling a rook, every time you roll.

  • The rooks are sadists. If you want them to appear, they won't.

  • How can we know the minds of the Rooks? Clearly they are alien to us and reasons are beyond our understanding. To look to deeply into their workings is the path of madness.

(Note: Always take into account that (1) don't fully believe anything you read except from the mouths of Staff and (2) that things might change at any moment without warning or notice.)

  • about your post, i say

    1. i found the 1/2 rule on wikia

    2. asians can do anything if it is virtual or on the computer

  • 1. The wiki is public and can be edited by anyone so trust even that with a grain of salt... in part because it may have changed
    and
    2. I have no idea what you are talk about.

  • do u have anythiing better to do than to sit around all day under my thread and post crap? cause if you do i will ignore you at first, then; irl, i will make a doll that looks like you, then wrap it in bacon, then eat half of the raw bacon, then chuck you against the tv then smash it, then buy a new tv. rinse clean dry repeat

  • Just because the item you roll is called a 12-sided die, doesn't necessarily mean that all 12 options have equal chances of appearing - it is after all only an electronic representation. Heck, maybe one in 25,209,506,681 rolls it actually produces a 13th option. (*)

Best plan if you <3 the statistics is to combine your data with a couple of friends and investigate the probabilities for yourself.

But as the great Lord Bacon-o points out, things may change at any moment without notice.
(And I wouldn't believe Staff too much either LOL)

(*) That's a prime number & we all know how much the devs love prime numbers... so maybe it's true.

  • nvm i summoned a rook, i am happy for now
Posted 13 months ago by funnyfarts Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Well, that sounds tasty but a waste of a doll, bacon and a tv.
BUT I did answer honestly: I don't know if there is a REAL answer out there. In fact, I am pretty sure there is no OFFICIAL answer.

I apologize if putting a fun spin on it may have somehow offended you.

  • When the 12-sided die was introduced, staff said that even if you do roll a rook, the chance of actually causing an attack is "very small."  The attacks themselves are much weaker than regular rook attacks.

  • What on earth are you complaining about? You were in GFJ yesterday rolling up a storm, and there were three rook attacks JUST while I was there.

So, erm, thanks for the XP? (Good luck with that pox, too. Mööse bites can get verï nastï...)

  • Snazzlefrazz  - I have suggested that they should do that... it'll be Rick Astley & play "Never Gonna Give You Up"

Rick-rolling is rarer than Rook-rolling in Glitch

  • I am declaring now that if the OP pipes up on the Rook Alerts chat with that kind of punctuation and language I will kick him out of the chat and the group with extreme prejudice.

  • I've seen this guy and another rolling multiple dice continuously on a few streets now, i don't understand the point of it, why?

is it just boring old obnoxious griefing/trolling or is there some benefit I don't understand?
Posted 13 months ago by Nobbin Subscriber! | Permalink
  • There is no benefit aside from the chance to bring down bad stuff on themselves or others. Rolling a Rook on the die usually just results in a -50 Mood, but sometimes, just sometimes, you invite The Rook in.
Posted 13 months ago by Mal'akh Subscriber! | Permalink
  • That's not griefing.  Trying to roll Rook on the die in a street where there's just been a -real- Rook attack, THAT'S griefing.
