Problems with nibbling on "Supertight" range **EDIT** Thank you TS for fixing!

Is it me, or is it harder to nibble piggies on a "Supertight" range?  The order of the piggies seem to "mix" more than usual as I nibble each pig down the line.

If the devs made the "Supertight" range a bit wider, could we have it back to where it was originally?

**EDIT** correction "Very Tight"  :)
**EDIT 2**  Fixed!  Thank you TS!  :)

  • I can't log in at work to check this firsthand but... if it's true I'm sadpanda =(

  • This is only a problem if you use a mouse to interact with the pigs. If you stand at the pig stick and hit enter all the pigs will stay in the exact same order every time making nibbling them very easy. If they walk further away their order gets mixed up making it much more difficult.

  • IMO, its easier if they arent on a stick. Start one side of the street, walk to the other nibbling pigs on the way.  *shrug*  Just me.

  • I've noticed they're not as tight as they used to be, they actually go out of the regular zone, that's why it's not working like it used to. And the enter method is good, if you're not doing it to your own pigs, because eventually, you end up picking up your stick.

I can't speak for everyone, but when I go on a street where there's 30+ pigs running around, it lags me harder than other streets with sticks. I prefer a stick, but to each their own.

  • Octo, I think that's how it used to work.  In the past couple of days, even when very tight, one or two piggies will escape from the very tight and poke out a little further.  This then messes up the order of the other pigs.  Of course, once those adventurous pigs go back into the herd, the original ordering is back.  But then some new pigs will escape from the mass causing the same issue again.  It isn't as efficient as it was before but you can still pet/nibble most of the pigs, you just might miss a couple.

Innie, sometimes I find it easier when they are spread out.  Until three get on top of each other because once you click, it brings that specific pig to the forefront hiding the ones behind it.  I get more frustrated at that because they then usually all move at once and I have to track down the blocked pigs...but then others start walking in the screen being blocked by the pigs I just nibbled.

I think the easiest way was when the very tight setting on the pig stick meant all pigs would be highlighted while standing in the middle of the mob.

  • Yep... darn piggies are wiggling and wandering just a little too much for the method I was using before. =(

  • Okay, then, for those of us with lots of animals in our yards, who wish to make things convenient for people, what's the new stick preference, here?

  • I'd still vote 'Very Tight' for keyboard/mouse players.  For mouse only, free range seems the only viable option.
But I'd like to know if the new way very tightly sticked piggies move around is a bug or feature of the pig stick.

  • I noticed this same problem yesterday standing (as per usual) directly in front of my pig stick. However, when I moved just slightly right of the center of the grouping (i.e. not directly in front of my pig stick) the issue corrected itself. When I tried that placement today, it seemed to work as well.

  • I, too, noticed this problem yesterday. I "solved" it by putting my piggie stick right up against the left edge of my yard.

  • ooooh.... that's a good idea to try! It might be a bit of a pain for the Piggy Porkway travelers to walk to my yard's edge but I think it would be less of a pain than the "piggies won't stay in a pack" situation.

  • Good solution Devlogic. But TransplantedEntwife is right. I'm on the piggy porkway. I don't want my visitors to have to travel to one end of my house to nibble my piggies.  Does anyone know if the "very tight" range will be fixed to the range it was before the update?

  • So hm, what I did.. I "changed" the radius to "very tight" (like it already should've been), and now it seems for me the order of piggies stays that same (even after I walked away from the bunch and back: select again.. same order of - at least - the first four piggies over and over again). Occasionaly one wanders just a bit too far out of range, but that issue soon fixes itself when it walks back to the fold.

Recap: setting the range to very tight again may work, it did for me.

  • Thank you TS for fixing the "Very Tight" range back to almost it's original size!  The piggies are now much easier to nibble.  :)

  • I will take this opportunity to say once again - I want my pigpen back! I still miss it and sticks still seem a poor-ass replacement. Make it a cultivation option!
