new achievement - stayin' alive!

There are some great achievements for dying, and dying is pretty easy to do. But there don't appear to be any achievements for living (not that I've seen, that is).

For those of us who, by design or fluke, manage to avoid squishing in hell, it'd be great to have an achievement tree to mark our efforts.

I've made it a personal goal to stay outta hell for as long as I can. So I propose a disco ball-themed achievement for stayin' alive! Level 23 and counting!

  • I've thought about this same thing. I avoid dying as well (much as I would in real life hehe). I think it's nice that we have "unlimited lives" in this game but there is something nice about not using those lives.

Perhaps the achievements could be matched to game hours since last death (or start of game if no death). Meaning, just as there are achievements for playing 15 minutes, there could be an achievement for playing 101 real life inside the game hours without dying (or something like that). Also as a possibility: must be non-afk hours.

  • even though I'm currently going for the Dracula achievement, I have to give this a +1.  I thought it was really weird that dying got me something that living didn't.  But hey, I get to be a vampire in the meantime...

  • Ditto, I have yet to die and while I'm sure it's inevitable (like real life) I feel pretty chuffed with myself for having avoided it thus far. Can I get a holla?

  • I have also been able to avoid the trip downstairs (or up - the bubble trees have me confused), love this idea! Will polish my halo and practice my dance moves! :)

  • In a similar vein, I think there should be an achievement for making it to the next in-game day with ~1% energy left [IE be at like 4 energy between 23:59 and 00:01].

You can call it Nick of Time, or Running on Empty. Or something more clever and witty than what I can come up with at 4am.

  • Achievements that you can accidentally lock yourself out of without realizing aren't a very good idea.

  • @Snokatt: But if Neatly Sliced's suggestion was used (making the achievement contingent on time spent alive, rather than level achieved without dying), nobody would be locked out of anything. It would still be achievable by anyone that wanted to make the effort. ETA: you could die, then stay alive for weeks or months afterwards and still be eligible for this achievement.

Also +1 to Kittoa's suggestion for Running on Empty. :)

  • @Snokatt: This is why it could reset the timecounter after you die. The achievement could mark 101 hours alive (or however long) since last death. So, if you accidentally die, never fear, for you will just be restarting the counter. No one will be locked out of anything.

  • I love the idea of living awards.  I was hoping for level 60 in one life, but messed up and didn't watch my meters.  I like the idea of X hours of gameplay without dying.

  • I love this idea. I'm trying my hardest to not die. If I do, no big deal, but I don't think I'll purposefully had my glitch die just to do an achievement.
