Devs... if you cannot keep the game running...

Then at least keep the game. Keep the data. Keep all of its little bits and bobs... maybe, just maybe, someday, it can be restored...

  • Agreed...or changed to a diff format. I think this would work really well in a more...cd purchased mmo type game. with updates and massive coalitions of things to do (already got that part).  Think WoW style data base with glitch components. Less server space needed for things like info and images, and more for just interaction.

I know I would buy the game and pay for an account. Sure it would need to be cheap, but if runescape can survive...glitch CAN survive...it just must be very hard to make the changes if your announcing shut down.

  • I would like the data saved so that if and when this comes back as something else, we can have our old accounts back.  Why not? Worse things have happened.

  • Could there be anyway you could put up all the assets of they game for dowload and then we could sort through them and maybe try to figure somthing else?

  • What I would like to see is the website preserved. I guess that's unrealistic as they'd have to pay to keep the data online, but I would love to be able to come back and see snapshots and my friends' profiles and browse the encyclopedia so I don't have to feel like it all disappeared completely. This game is too wonderful just to disappear without a trace.

  • There was some Facebook game that shut down and was brought back (for a time) by fans and a couple of the original devs. They brought it back up even though the resources and code they were given was just sort of dumped on them without any explanation of what any of it meant... and they managed it. It only went down again because it wasn't that great of a game to begin with and the new devs changed everything that anyone had ever enjoyed about the original game and also changed the UI so it barely functioned.

In my week of playing this game, I've seen that Glitch players are smarter than that.

Why can't we even try?? D:

  • Yes. Don't throw anything away. Just keep it somewhere, please!

  • What about at least keeping the artwork, music, and some screenshots available on the Tiny Speck website?

  • We're definitely looking into the feasibility of keeping the website alive sans game for as long as possible. We really do not want to see it all just disappear into the ether.

  • Very much so....Agreed!!! just keep it safe, this is a place to be remembered, so get lots of bubble-wrap and be gentle, this place is special, store it somehow, just dont forget where it is!:)
(edit) I apparently added this at the same time as the post above, so yes i did mean the whole game:)

  • Store the game, too, though... It's like cryogenic freezing. Have it in suspended animation until medical science (or, uh, technology/money) has advanced enough to bring it back...

  • The costs for the domain name alone could definitely be covered for a while with the subscription costs.

  • +1 for keeping a backup of it all and documents around.

Moore's law and all that... someday we'll all be able to play Glitch again at a fraction of the resources cost we have today. Sure, it will be "old", but it's gonna be "cool old" - and if it is documented, somebody will probably be able to add to it, and... imagine... new things.

Hey, there's people out there still playing emulated VCS games (ahem)... so Glitch: 2020 is most definitely a possibility!

  • +1 Back up all content, assets, sounds, music, everything. Back up the game, back up the giants, back up Ur.

That world you made Tiny Speck, we clearly do not want to leave. That alone is liberating to an extent, maybe Glitch is going, but Tiny Speck isn't.

Very unfortunate for the 35 employees and investors to have lost the opportunity to experience Glitch in it's fullness, but I hope you can all come back to Tiny Speck or some other amazing studio, to create something -like- Glitch, just keep the world of Ur, the Giants Imagination, and what it means to be a glitchen. Preserve it please, because I will.

I'll never forget Glitch, it's too good for any of the content to go.

  • I can see another game in the future, where players can "imagine" playing Glitch, or where current Glitch is something you access from personal devices or whatever...

  • I know nothing of the costs and logistics involved, but if it's possible to keep it safe somewhere, then please, please do. It seems that crowdsourcing the funds to keep the game alive is unrealistic, but I'd chip in towards some digital boxfiles to keep Glitch safe just in case it can ever come back.
