Glitch: The Television Series ~ Fraggle Rock

Did you know that the entirety of the Fraggle Rock television series is available on Netflix Instant Watch?

No joke! If you *really* like the style of Glitch, you'll love this show, which truly is "Glitch: The Television Series". It is probably even worth signing up to Netflix for a month for 10 bucks just to watch the thing through.

I would also highly recommend watching this show [again?] for any Glitch artists, writers or developers. The show is chock full of ideas and philosophies that match so much of what goes on - play, style, humour, drama - in Glitch from day to day.

p.s. Here is a quiz to help figure out which Fraggle Rock Character. i'm not ure what it means but i scored as sprocket.

  • A regular discussion amongst my friends is "are you a Gobo, a Red, a Mokey, a Wembley, a Boober, an Uncle Matt... or a Doozer?"

  • Not to brag, but one of my most prized possessions is a Doozer doll.  I couldn't watch the show when it was on -- no cable -- but I'd seen it once or twice at a neighbor's house, and fallen in love with the Doozers.  Fortunately, the whole series is on DVD now.  I am coming up as a four-way tie in that quiz, and apparently I'm not a Doozer, but rather a confused blend of Mokey, Gobo, Matt, and Madame Trash Heap.

  • the Uncle Travelling Matt sections are my very favourite bits of the series.

if you got a tie, pick Matt!

  • I have heard of the show but never actually seen it. The quiz was fun I scored 100% on

Madame Trash Heap, Gobo Fraggle and Traveling Matt Fraggle.

Don't worry Bacon - O Despite how it sounds Madame Trash Heap is a good thing .

  • @stri - you can read what your rating means here ... all I can say is ROFL ... can also search or Navigate from there through the MuppetWiki to find other characters.

  • Worries for another day!
The quiz says I'm Traveling Matt and Mokey. :)

  • I absolutely loved that show also! My daughter and I would watch it together. I scored 100% on Gobo Fraggle and Traveling Matt Fraggle.

  • @Divine~ I know the character and the site .. linked to it in top post .. my confusion is more how my personality maps to that of a muppet dog.

I do have a fondness for sprocket. long suffering, he. I suppose it means I am meant to endure Doc's shenanigans and chase after all you fraggles until you escape down holes.

always found it interesting how sprocket was always like Junior Gorg in that way, and yet far more sympathetic a character.

  • It's funny you should say that, Stri. There's some future *thing* (a far off thing indeed) peppered with fraggle references. It's one of my favourite shows.

I decided at quite an early age that I would never marry a man unless he presented me with a doozer. Not a toy doozer, an Actual doozer.

I remain 34, unmarried, and optimistic.

  • Yay, I'm Wembley! Oh, wait, maybe that's a bad thing. Or maybe it's a good thing? Or not. Which is it, I don't know!

(second place is a tie between the Trash Heap, Boober, and Mokey. So people come to me for advice, I seem mystical, but I never know what to tell them and then I worry about whether what I told them is right or not? ...Seems pretty accurate, actually...)

  • I loved that show and I missed the last episode. :(

    lol I'm Travelling Matt!

  • I'm Mokey. Here is what it says:
You are creative, thoughtful, graceful, poetic, dreamy, artistic, and helpful. You're also not very closely in touch with reality, but people can't help but to love you in spite of that. When you're not painting, writing, or helping someone, you like to take long walks to get in touch with the Fraggle caves that are your environment. If you were human, you'd be an inoffensive hippie, but since you're a Fraggle, you're just Mokey.

Pretty close, but no one would ever call me "an inoffensive hippie" - inoffensive, maybe, but hippie? Don't think so!

  • ok im going to throw the firework into the forum.

IMHO Fraggle Rock was a poor substitute for The Muppets - which simply was and is the best thing in the universe.  Moan away.

  • Bob, you are partially correct, but nobody said anything about substitution - it's a *compliment* to the Muppet Show, and a perfect one at that.

For what it's worth, I am also a Sprocket, with a hearty helping of Wembley and Uncle Traveling Matt, which sounds about right to me. At least I don't have to worry about being replaced by an early-80s robo-puppy!*

*disclaimer: no, I am not some huge Fraggle nerd, but coincidentally (or maybe not so much?) I happen to be midway through season 1 on netflix streaming, and just watched this episode last weekend! Good times...

  • @stri - Oh but not just any dog, an intelligent dog who sits around and watches, Like I said I have never seen the show, but based on the description I would assume he sometimes bites, or at least tries to.

ETA: No comment on chasing fraggles down holes....
Posted 18 months ago by Divine~ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Sprocket would never bite, he is much too civilized for that. He totally would chase if only he could fit through that darned hole in the wall!

  • Thanks to this thread, I've spent most of today downloading lots of episodes of Fraggle Rock from iTunes and have watched a couple of them so far.  Happy Days :D

     @ Bob Apple
I loved the Muppets too, was obsessed with them when I was little and would only answer to Kermit lol
