The Verdict... After Playing For An Hour!!

Ok..I have played for about an hour now ..(As I was too tired last night after the changes to take anything in...)... I have decided..I like it..!!!!

Once I started buying upgrade cards and seeing what is available to us for purchase, I was getting more and more interested. Now..I have something to go out there and work for..iMG.

Even waiting for the mining card to show up is more appealing now..because it's giving me something to look forward to and each time I buy a card, I cant wait to see what cards I will be dealt next.

I hope everyone warms to it soon, as I have. :)

  • I agree, Cryztal!! After playing for more hours than I should have last night, I would have to say that I'm liking the changes.

The upgrade cards are a fun way to enhance your skills. I like that I only have three at a time to choose from -- it's a game within the game. Also, it's making me really think about whether I want a specific buff. For example, of the first three cards I was offered, I bought two -- I KNOW I'll make use of "Shake Things Up" and "Clear Mind", but I don't really think I would be likely to take advantage of "Transcendental Highway."

As for the new UI, I really do like it. I have a couple of habits I have to change (I keep trying to open my bags from the side instead of the bottom, and the new location for the map button - which I usually click on instead of "m" - needs to work it's way into my automatic navigation), but those are minor compared to the awesomeness of NOT having the mini-map take up so much of the screen, and the fact that the bag that is open is now highlighted (I have in the past accidentally closed a bag, when I thought I was opening it - I carry a lot of shtuff).

And the translucent/watermark stats are great! I can see my currants total, and any active buffs/timers easily, but they don't interfere with seeing the screen. Oh, and I don't want to leave out the growls running across the bottom of the screen! I find them, oddly, more noticeable and less obtrusive at the same time!!! The movement catches my attention, but it's not blocking anything I need/want to see. In this form, I don't even mind the butterfly milking text -- it no longer has the potential of wiping out my entire screen!

All in all, YAY!!!!! And -- THANK YOU, TS!!!!!

  • I've been kind of done with this game for a while because I had just gotten bored. I'm glad I decided to see how the new stuff is going because now I'm addicted again in a whole new way! I really think the changes they have made will just keep getting better. Good job Tiny Speck!!!

  • Awesome changes, really makes the gameplay experience feel more engaging and not so cookie-cutter, which is how it started to feel when I got past level 20.

  • I've gotten some mining related cards, but only one that lowers the time to mine. I really want all of those. :)

    Otherwise, loving it!

  • I'm loving the whole upgrade system, with the exception of one thing- I keep getting cards that improve the durability of my cooking equipment. Normally, I'd say that's a great thing, but with those Tinkering badges for repairing cookware still floating about, that's the last thing I need!

Other than that, I don't have much to complain about for once!

  • I've been trying to think of how this system would feel as a newbie.  If anything, all the choices might be a bit overwhelming, but I think this is a move by TS in a great direction.  The opportunities for creating a very customized character for your own style of play  is really great  with the number of Upgrade cards that are available.  From the sounds of it, even those players who capped out at level 60 and learned all the skills before the changeover haven't simply bought every card there is and ended up exactly the same again.  And soon we'll have to choose between spending our iMG resources on characters or homes.  I had been getting a little tired of doing too much of the same things in the game, but these new features that allow more really functional choices as a player, and all the new skills, tools, and animals have revived my enjoyment of the game.

  • I miss the level system cruelly! I cannot easily compare myself and other players, I cannot make leveling now, and I enjoyed the thing. Guess TS team meant it, but anyway I am not happy with this change.

I understand the intention of developers to make the specializations for character deeper, but I loved my abilities to do equally well cooking and mining and all other things... And it is very sad that by default these abilities became poorer and you have to buy cards to improve them to the level they used to be (at first, anyway, like with mining). What I am doing now is buying every available card....

Also the card system looks really-really complicated for me: essencially they have the same meaning as the skills, so they as well might be called skills but with progressive numbers (IV, V, VI etc).

So... I do not feel comfortable inside this new world which is very sad :(((

  • That's simple Bumz - just buy all the cards for each of your skills, and you'll be back where you started with your skills. The iMG that you got from the conversion is enough to do this - carefully calculated. Stoot said so in the staff thread on the new changes.
