The last two times the Rube has shown up his offers have been terrible! I think the best/worst was a bean tree bean for my awesome pot. Um... yeah, good deal there, Rube! Thanks a LOT. :(
Purple flower seed for my still...i have something to say about the Rube, but it includes bad words.:P
I usually run away from him, and I have a hilarious photo of him chasing me.
Even when I get something that might be okay, I tend to hang on to the end for the slim chance he'll offer a doll. He hasn't yet. I don't know the values of things well enough to judge a lot of the offers anyway.
For some reason he keeps trying to get my hoe. And it's not even a high-class hoe, just a cheap one. But all he ever offers is a damn omelette. How am I supposed to tend my garden with an omelette?
I've noticed the offers have been particularly bad of late. I don't know if they've changed his code, or if it's just random, but it's a noticeable difference.
Rube seems to be a victim of the "if it's lots of fun, we'll nerf it so it's not fun at all" disease which has been going around for the last several months. The most fun I've had in Glitch since launch was trying to convince Rube to give me dolls. It gave me a sense of purpose, a reward for all the grind-y work of making essences, and a little thrill when it actually worked. Now it's just not worth the effort, and when he shows up on his own, even the reasonably good offers involve more work for me: I gave up my grinder for a crystalmalizer, but now I'll have to make another grinder.
I got two FN dolls from Rube (both for Grand Ol' Grinders,I think), sold one and ended up buying the other two dolls, as waiting for Rube was frustrating. Not having any better luck with my Cubimal Collection either, have 16 Cubies plus 92 (and counting) Crapimals...I give up.
What would happen if you intentionally dropped all your valuable items before trading with the Rube? Would the Rube then be forced to offer a better trade?
The Rube just got smarter I think, he's had enough of getting the bad end of the deal. Perhaps there could be some way to get him to drink Hooch when he appears, or a special drink we could make that he can't resist that would increase his fallibility/generosity.
Yeah, basically I'm saying we should be able to get him drunk and rip him off. Don't judge me.
Woohoo I just traded a wood tree bean for a wood tree bean on 5/5. Just what I needed how'd he know? I know, I didn't have to trade but I felt bad that he came all that way to me just to trade. Just stay home next time rube!
I don't imagine currants would factor in... at least I hope not, since you don't trade him currants. It probably means if you're carrying a ton of expensive things, he won't trade with you... to keep that previous loophole for getting the cubimals/dolls every time from working.
I wonder how it will affect me since I generally carry all my tools all the time.
" The Rube has upgraded his Salesmanship certificate at a weekend course, and as a result he no longer offers unfavourable trades." - Yeah, that was pretty obvious, but why was he nerfed? I thought the whole point was that he was bad at trading so when he showed up you were going to get a happy. Now he doesn't make trades that profit the player, he makes trades that are no profit, and worse than, because he's trading so close to the currant value of something you're carrying (which you evidently want or need) for something you're not carrying (which you probably don't want or need), so what's the point? Pointless. I miss Rube from when he was more like Santa Claus.
He was nerfed to close a loophole that was allowing players to come by rare items (namely dolls) much more frequently than intended. They went a bit too far with the correction, but have corrected that so now you will no longer ever get a trade that is worth less than the item the Rube wants in return (according to the info page of its currant worth). You may still get trades that you personally consider worthless, however.
I think I remember the rube offering me an omelet for my cauldron. I was like uuuuuh no thanks.
I think fixing the loop hole was done in the wrong fashion, perhaps instead of making it so that people can't get a doll out of him with expensive items how about making it so that they can only get one of each doll, that way ppl would be less inclined to try and get a bunch just for profit.
I think people just WANT a doll before beta ends because they are so cute. I know that's why I want them.
