  • Number of actions are the number of times you can use one of the options on the icon (other than place or tithe). So each tithe gives you more actions than it did before. And the more you tithe before the icon asks for currants, the more actions you get out of an icon before the icon asks for currants.

  • I think I understand.  Thanks.  I might just have to see it.

  • Oh good! This means that you can store up actions before you level up.

  • How will we know if an icon is full?

  • The "tithe" verb will be disabled and a tooltip will tell you :)

  • Ah ha! Thanks, stoot!

  • There is a rumor that the amount of Reflect iMG is related to the level of the person who tithed. Was that true before and is it still true with this change?

  • That's no rumor but a fact Janitch ;) I've tried using other peoples icons and they seem to give barely anything, since I'm used to the tithe power of a very high level.

I don't know about after the change, though, I'll have to investigate.

  • I can't imagine there is a very strong relationship. My icons are located in my house and only I tithe them. I receive as low as 100ish and as high as 1300ish. Obviously, my level is not changing.

  • @Audaria The belief is that there is a relationship, but of course since there is a wide random range, it would be a relationship between the average iMG per Reflect and level.

  • Well, yes, but the first reflect after the icon asks for a tithe is always 50% larger as observed statistically by Humbabella and anecdotally by myself. So it seems like the range is even bigger than it is. Buuuut, if you take the average of your range, when a tithe has NOT just been given, and compare it to the average of a level 10's range or a level 60's range you'll find the numbers to be quite different for each player.

EDIT: What Janitch said, basically... xD

  • This is great! I depend on the icons for most of my daily iMG, so this will definitely help! Thanks!

  • Well, I think there will need to be a lot of new experiments with icons.  If the level of the tither affects the size of the resulting actions, then what happens when someone of low level tithes an icon up to almost full before a high level person tithes it once?  Do we end up with an icon full of weak actions with a few strong ones?  Does it forget about the previous tithe value and update to the higher one?

And if the first action after a tithe is larger, was that because it was the first action after a tithe or was it because it was the first action after being refilled from being empty?  Or maybe it was because it was an action within a certain "full" range and we could end up getting all actions that size by keeping the icon quite full?

I'll have answers to these questions in... a month maybe.

  • Whoo. The math person is here :) I love when this happens ;) I'm not nearly as good with numbers... xD

  • I still do not believe there is a strong relationship, as the 1300s are VERY rare and 100s and 200s are VERY common, so my average would not be all that high. As to the 50% higher after tithe - what is that based on? 50% of what? Because I have seen both 600s and 1100s in the same reflecting "sweep" of my icons. I only reflect.

  • Just in case you were wondering about my face.

  • The level of the player doing the tithing makes no difference to the strength of the action.

  • Was there also a change to the frequency of "Giant Love?"  It may just be a coincidence, but it's now very rare for me, whereas before the tithing change, I was seeing it much more frequently.

  • Erm, is that a new thing Stoot? Because, and I guess there is an inherent faultiness to anecdotal/remembered evidence, I'm feeling fairly sure that I get a LOT more iMG now than I did at level 42.
Posted 6 months ago by Liza Throttlebottom Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Guessing here, but I think he means the level doing the tithing doesn't affect the amount you will get, but your level still affects the amount you get.  So even if a level 5 tithes, you still get the benefit at level 60.  And vice versa.

  • Oh, hmm. I'm gonna go run around messing with icons and see what happens :)
Posted 6 months ago by Liza Throttlebottom Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Oh stoot, you realize that I would have told everyone that a long, long time from now, right?  Oh well, fewer icons devoted to those experiments mean more icons devoted to others!
