Inaccurate real estate listing?

While the game is not open (awww!), I thought to look for a dwelling for my Glitch...thinking for something a little different this time around, was looking in Jethimadh, am comparing the different layouts, specifically, I want a dark patch and 12 herb garden (maybe 9 if I really like the house).

- this one http://beta.glitch.com/realty/LDOB24NG8EC2233/ does not state dark patch but shows an eggplant.  Lists for 7,500c
- same with this one http://beta.glitch.com/realty/LDOA0ERD8EC2J7H/
- this one http://beta.glitch.com/realty/LA9TLA7JGO0275K/  is the same layout but does list a dark patch.  Lists for 10,000c

Really haven't been looking long and noticed this, thought to put it here, so you guys could check it out.

I only looked at certain ones - not all the ones at these prices, so, may be more.

  • Firestone - Note that the apartments maintained their pre-reset prices...whereas the 'stand alones' of the same Firebog designs got a nice price drop...guess they weren't selling as well as the buildings. So you can get a really good deal on the larger of the firebogs if you don't mind the stand alone version.

  • I would guess that the graphic is generic, and that the price difference accurately reflects the difference between having a dark patch and not having a dark patch on your property.

  • ooohhh...thanks b3achy! :)

  • That's what I'm thinking Windborn...but, would hate to buy the 7,500 expecting a dark patch and not finding one - after all the picture does show it.

  • Not sure what the difference is, if any, but here's another 7500-currant firebog home with the same front-door pic.  I used to live there before the reset so I *know* it has an eggplant / dark patch. 4356 Ounaas Means Quarter

If you're looking, the handy points of that location are:
    - One street from subway
    - That particular street number was right next to the quarter sign.  I'm sure there are some of those available on each street.

  • Actually think it is a typo in the description (looks like it was a typo in all the Shimla ones (and apparently the Jethmidha ones too) - the  Chakra ones list a dark patch). The 7500 stand alone firebog homes in Shimla do have dark patches (at least the one my friend bought did...it now shows eggplant, so can't tell if it originally said dark patch or not).  They are the same layout as the 10K homes.

Here's the Chakra one that I checked: http://beta.glitch.com/realty/LCR27A9AD922A1G/

  • I'm pretty sure if it shows an eggplant it will come with either an eggplant or a dark patch ... ok pretty sure not completely sure!!

I noticed a lot of discrepancies in the real estate listings for the firebogs after reset, I do have a post about that in bugs forum, is currently on page 2. Title something like ?house exterior bug or something!

Come to Lowland Track Firestone! :)) Ok is not Jethimadh but Shimla. There are some really nice houses with 9 herb patches, the current price is 5k. The house I think is nice has 3 rooms and 2 windows, quite a unique layout. There is another 5k house interior that is not so nice (much smaller house). They have different exteriors on the street but the listings show the outside as looking the same at the moment, so you have to check the pic of the interior.

  • Thanks Violet...not sure just yet where exactly I will end up...have looked at Lowland...have looked at Kalavana, Chakra...just can't make up my mind...lol...not all that big a thing which specific area, just want an eggplant and (preferably) 12 herb garden, the mortars and would rather have jellisac instead of fireflies...but, may have to take the fireflies, haven't found one yet with all the other and jellies - seems if you have jellies, you have peat bogs - not that interested in those  :)

What I wish is that houses that are for sale would allow you to actually walk into them - I would love to be able to walk through it and think I could better visualize it being my home.

  • I live at 3456 Ivalo Trims, and I can tell you the same thing happened to me- showed an eggplant, delivered a dark patch. I wonder if maybe that's due to people (pre-reset) buying houses that had already been owned and planting there- after they sold it, an eggplant would already be there. Had a similar question about a street whose loading screen showed a Block-Maker chassis- and was told that the pic was true when it was taken, but not now. Perhaps it's showing an eggplant because the interior pick was taken when one was already growing (as opposed to it being a current state).

  • Well I think you can try out every style of interior on our street if you come and visit us fire! I know what u mean about jellisacs and peat bogs. Just have to remember to go on jelly hunting expeditions now and then. I think the fireflies are really worth having though as these are tricky to collect
and always seem to be needed. Plus they brighten the place up and make it seem more homely :)

  • Oh I was just about to bug this too. I bought a 10K place in Shimla and someone just now mentioned that there were no more 10K places available in Shimla so I had a look and was surprised to see that I could have gotten the exact same Features in a place for 2.5K less.

I'm not upset about the price difference - I don't mind paying a little more because I really like the feel and social aspects of the bog apartment houses. (Though for the extra 2.5K I'd love to have the option to exchange the plant for the fish bowl.)

But I'm curious about the thinking behind this price difference. Is it because the Apt/Villa buildings are seen as worth more because of the reasons I mention above, for the reason mentioned above by b3achy ("the 'stand alones' of the same Firebog designs got a nice price drop...guess they weren't selling as well as the buildings"), location, some other reason or simply an oversite?

If this price difference is intentional I hope that the devs will find a way to make it clear to future home buyers that one need not spend more than 7.5K currants to get 10K worth of Features. Which is why a "sort by features" option in Real Estate would be awesome.

  • Ah … there were a couple issues with some of the homes in Shimla Mirch, Chakra Phool, Jethimadh and Kalavana.

The first, was that homes were coming with "1 Egg Plant" instead of "1 Dark Patch".  This has been fixed, and all affected realty listings will now list their "Features" accurately.

The second, was that the prices for all homes in those areas *should* have been dropped. It was as oversight that not all of them had their purchase prices reduced.  This has also been fixed, and all homes in Shimla Mirch, Chakra Phool, Jethimadh and Kalavana now have the appropriate price.

Thanks for the heads up, and my apologies to those of you who purchased a home at the 'pre-reset' prices.

I'm blaming it on a volatile real estate market in the days of Beta.

  • thanks jdawg. I guess all those visits from the Rube are starting to rub off on those of us who paid "pre-reset" prices. It seemed like a great deal at the time.....

Any possibility of the extra currants coming back to those of us who overpaid? Gnomes are pricey but calling my name!

ETA: Uh-oh! Just looked at the Real Estate page for my house. It says that when I sell my house I'll get 80% of what I paid for it, 6000 Currants. But 80% of 10,000 is of course 8000 Currants. Are we really gonna get the double whammy penalty?
Posted 15 months ago by The Cat Face Subscriber! | Permalink
  • wow TCF...hope they can sort that out for you!

thanks for the response and fix jdawg...now, back to the pages and find my new home!  <3

Posted 15 months ago by The Cat Face Subscriber! | Permalink
  • so can I sell my house for 80% of what I paid for it?
Posted 15 months ago by Treesa Subscriber! | Permalink
  • yes Treesa, it is 80% - go to your profile page and click on your address, it will take you to its page and will tell you

You can sell it for 80% of the original price —

and it will have the amount for yours.

  • Yes you can Treesa.

Unless you were one of the people who overpaid before the prices were lowered.

I paid 10,000 currants for what turned out to be an 8,000 currant house.

So I'll only get 60% of what I paid instead of 80%. :(

  • Hey- we don't plan on doing a fix to adjust homes bought in that window or bought and then sold after. To add to what jdawg mentioned in his post, as we were in beta, we expect things to not work right. If you want to follow up off Forum, open a help case report and we can look at it case by case.

  • Cat face:  I paid 10 000. :(

  • Tell you what treesa, cat face: I'll release four butterflies in each of your honors, in the locations of your choice.  (four butterfly eggs = 1600 currants = 80% of a 2000 currant price difference.)
Posted 15 months ago by Fnibbit Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Sorry to hear it Treesa.

To be honest I'm not really concerned with the currants, (though I know at low levels for newer players an extra 2000 currants is a lot ) I just wasn't sure if the initial staff response addressed the 60% vs 80% return for those that bought houses before devaluation since that issue wasn't mentioned until after the 1st staff response. I wanted to make sure that that issue was conveyed as well since we were in beta when it happened and wasn't sure if the additional 2000 currant loss to early adopters who sell was understood by staff. Looks like they get it. You can file a report using the link provided by kevbob above.

    Good luck!

  • thanks Fnibbit - like I said - currants isn't the issue. But thanks for your gesture.

  • Giving this some thought (and reading blanky's response to the thread in the general forum) I've decided to put in the help request.

I know the currents aren't much in hindsight, but at the time I bought the house it maxed me out.  I needed a place to put stuff until I found a house I liked and decided it was better than big bags.

So, like I said, after giving it some thought (even though it was technically beta, it was still  after the final reset) I think it would be best to put in the help request.   I figure if the game is set up so that we will stay emotionally invested in the playing then I'm going to be emotionally invested...both ways - good and bad.   Its impossible to avoid.  Its not the "principle" its just for me, a question of good faith.

Fnibbit:  that's a great project.  Good going with that.  I'll try to help out with it when i get the AH skill.
