Well no, if I shuck enough each round of planting so I have enough to plant again? I use the 9 plots in my friend's garden. *Assuming I start with 1 Purple Flower shucked into 2 seeds and I get the max number of seeds from every shucking..*
Julie I have all the garden crop and herb skills, over 90% of the time I get the max number so just humour me and assume the shucking will yield the max every time. :>
I have all those skills and don't average two seeds over time, a little less. On the other hand I do get quite a lot of superharvests, which will totally throw off your numbers.
Okay, I don't think this is what you wanted, but I've expended exactly as much brainpower as I've got. (and someone will have to check my musician math)
Yes Julie - effectively, you plant two plots, harvest six seeds, and shuck one of them for two more seeds. Net yield on two plots, 5 seeds. But as you say toward the end of this theoretical cycle perhaps Miso wants to stop shucking away herbs, and have neither seeds nor flowers left???
I also decided to work under the assumption that not planting all 9 plots is kind of a waste, but I suppose you could be growing other things while doing this. I like SchWM's answer.
Wouldn't it be easier to just plant 8 plots, get 24 purple flowers, make 1 essence, and then sell/give away/save the one flower left over? Or is this math for the sake of math? Just wonderin' :P
ETA: I say this with next to no knowledge of super harvests and average yields. TL;DR: why can't you have any left over flowers?
Wheee! Thanks everyone!
Nyx I was just curious. *^_^* So I guess you could say math for the sake of math. It was making me kind of dizzy trying to figure it out myself earlier when I was planting, harvesting and then making Essences as soon as I had enough of whatever.
Edit - oh Gods I just remembered, I left a TON of herbs on my friend's floor. Oops. I hope she doesn't mind. '>_>
Assuming you have an unlimited supply of raw material (seed) and no super harvests, 1 plot, 23 times. If you're lucky, your super-harvests will reduce the number of plantings required.
Presuming that you're a relatively high level grower (I think I'd be right on that assumption for you), you're likely to get three or four super-harvests over the course of that time, so maybe 19 or 20 plantings.
Woochi you're right not necessarily 1 planting, but rather how many plantings to make the minimum number of essences with no leftovers assuming I plant and then shuck enough to plant again as needed. :>
Thanks for the input everyone!!! This is good to know and somewhat useful although I like having leftovers, to decorate with ... as I sometimes ... frequently actually... accidentally use ALL my flowers for essences and forget to shuck. So it's good to know how many to plant and then shuck and how many essences I will aim on making. *always keep at least 1 on hand to shuck for seeds*
<re-reads what she just wrote>
holy crap I'm tired. o_o
psibertus no but I do think the number of superharvests you get decreases with each one.. like the chance of getting one drops, like when you're mining gems and you come across a gem, then the chance of getting another gem is reduced.. and then you get another one and it's reduced more.. etc. That's why if you mine for a few hours straight you notice you won't end up getting a lot at the end but when you start you get a lot. Or at least a few. :>
