Unread Count Chat Links

Is it really necessary to count 'joined/left' messages in the unread number on the chat window? I think it would be better if only real messages were counted towards the total. I don't really care that people are leaving and joining a chat when I have it backgrounded, but it's useful to see new messages as soon as possible in, say, the New Streets group. Please can we have either a dual count of total/real messages, or just count the real ones?

  • +1 I would definitely prefer to see only messages in the count, or have two counts. I'm always switching over to a new chat just to see that it was only a join/leave message.

  • agree- we were talkign about this in chat, seemed like consensus.  either having a different color for join/leave or get rid of that altogether.

  • Yes I agree!! We did discuss this at somepoint in a chat group and someone said they liked knowing when someone joined/left which I understand, but especially in the New Streets group (like you said) it gets a bit ridiculous.

  • question: does it announce when you toggle back and forth between a chat window or just when you open/close the window?

  • It's a pretty common toggle in chats - to be able to turn off/on the join/leave of a particular room. It's a good suggestion and puts more of a tailored experience in the hands of the end user.
