How does spending favor for faster skill training work exactly?

I am a bit confused about how speeding up skill training by spending favor works.
Does it take away the hours immediately or does it simply speed up the training for a while?

It looks like the hours are immediately removed from the bar but at the same time, there is a message stating that I am learning very fast and shouldn't switch skills or I'd lose my bonus.

So which one is it?

  • Both. But if you switch skills midstream you lose what you saved on the stopped skill. And can never get it back

  • I think speeding up the learning is effectively removing hours from it. I got kind of confused by it as well, like the Yellow Crumb Buff that doubles learning speed for a minute or something. Is doubling learning speed for a minute mean that it's taking away 1 minute from my learning time (because 1 minute would count for 2 minutes at double speed) or is it halving my learning time for a minute (e.g. 8 hours of learning time left turns into 4 hours of learning time left for 1 minute)??

    DX It sounds like - and probably is - a simple concept but I find it rather convoluted to understand for some reason waaah.

  • The hours are removed from your total time on the bar.  If you switch to another skill and come back, all the hours you have removed by spending favor will be added back to your learning time

  • It actually speeds up your learning. There is a slight difference between speeding up and removing hours.

  • Thank you for your answers, they cleared things up for me a little.
    In my opinion they should just make the clock tick twice as fast as long as fast learning is active instead of removing time.
    I think that would clear things up for many people.

  • "Zu has a great guide over here: www.glitch.com/forum/genera...;

    I actually looked at that guide several times before and missed the part about how times work.
    I feel a bit stupid now.
