Animal training

It would be great if there was a skill called animal training.

With animal training you can train animals such as dragons or sea serpents and if you train them successfully then you can buy a whistle and when ever you blow the whistle that animal will come to you.
There could be some other skills too such as:
1. Animal riding (lets you ride trained animals)
2. Animal care (lets you care for your animals better)
etc.

Here is a simple Idea of how the dragon will look like:

Sorry but the sea serpent is still in progress but I will post it when I'm finished.

  • There has been much talk around the office lately of "animal parades", where one with high enough skill could cause all the animals in a location to parade around and perhaps perform some tricks.

Animal *riding* would take a while, but is something that is not entirely out of the question. And caring for them is certainly something we would like to do.

So, how about this: we'll see! It won't happen in the next few months (but many other good things will). But in the fullness of time, one could reasonably expect several features like this … and more!

  • If a vendor sold "dragon bait," I would buy it even if it had no utility. Just saying.

  • maybe there should be occasional dragon sightings in the ilmenskie caverns. to be captured by a combination of dragon bait and feeding lots of pigs?

  • Man oh man, do I looooove the idea of animal parades. And tricks! Love it!!

  • Me, too, katlazam :)
Will all pigs wear hats for the parade? I sure hope so!

(Not too fond of dragons and such, thou. Somehow I don't think they will fit in.)

  • Mina: Do you think dragons would fit in in a different styled location to Groddle?

I'd love to have different kinds of piggies and chickens, to add variety. Piggies with spots (patterns) or a little hairdo. And to be able to differentiate from Groddle Heights/Forest/Meadows/Ix piggies or chickens.

Haha, how about mountain goats for Groddle Heights and wild boars for Groddle Forest :)

  • Hburger, I associate dragons with a different type of game. So it's not really a matter of art but game style.
But if people want dragons, let them have dragons. I have no intention of standing between glitchies and their chosen pets (for obvious reasons).

  • I wouldn't mind a flying lizard that wasn't a dragon. Giant flying geckos, which don't actually fly in real life, sounds fun. Spatula made a suggestion a while back for "pigasus", which still gives me a giggle. How to train your flying pig and such....

  • i do appreciate that the glitch animals are so far a mix of the fantastical (batterflies and headphone-wearin' dancing crabs) and the mundane (piggies that poop). dragons just seem a bit obvious somehow. now, miniature elephants with ant-sized strength, that can hold little flags in their trunks when they take part in the animal parade, and maybe they also serve as a moving service when you want to get a shiny new cave house? now we're talking...

  • dragons wouldn't fit very well, although maybe as a sly satirical comment on other MMOGs they might work.

    beaks are important

  • I was thinking llamas. I know llamas are used as guard animals on many farms ( as are donkeys) and it would be cool to have them around as a rook defense.. perhaps one could reincarnate as a llama? With hats of course and special wool for making sweaters.

  • Ha, I just lol'd at the idea of a little Indian head pieces for chickens in ix :)

mainly so I could be a llama farmer.

  • Since we're on the topic of animals. I'd like to see bees and beekeeping. We already have honey in the game, maybe we could make it more interesting to get the honey. Perhaps there could be certain locations that have a lot of flowers and the bees are attracted to those. You could pick a flower and give it to a bee in exchange for honey. If you don't have a high enough animal kinship skill, you get stung when you try to collect honey from them which lowers your mood greatly and your energy a little bit.

  • I like FrankenPaula's idea for gathering honey, but also have an alternative idea. Instead of getting honey from bees, we could get honey from the same place many of us get honey in the real world already. By squeezing a small golden bear.

  • Another idea: If there are flowers we can interact with (which would be nice), either pickable or not, we could BE THE BEE, and extract the nectar from a flower and then turn it into honey ourselves.

Also, if we could turn nutmeg into nuts, we could make baklava.

  • How about a combination,  very tiny dragons that give honey!
Posted 19 months ago by Cassandria Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yes yes yes a honey dragon please please . . . that would make so much sense and please two camps, those that want dragons and those that want honey, could they be various colors too, and instead of stings they could burns you if you don't tend them first before harvesting their honey ^^, perhaps they could live up trees feeding on orchids or groddle tree flowers as hard to catch as butterflies once were, and rarish so you have to be lucky to find them. Maybe with the highest AK skills you get to lure one to your home? We could use carpentry to build it a nest perhaps? Cooking skills to provide it with top grade foods to increase the honey yield, yes a lot of work but fittingly so for one of the rarest of Ur creatures,

sorry blathering cause I am so excited at this idea. +1 Cassandria

  • Right now I would be happy just to be able to get rid of my chickens and pigs.  They are seriously hindering my gardening.  I haven't fed my pigs in 3 days and they are still fat and happy and in the way.  If I can't remove them myself then PLEASE give me a pig pen and a chicken coop!

  • Imagine if your pigs could climb ladders......that would stop you leaving food all over the floor!

  • Lke the honey dragon idea
Posted 19 months ago by Max Output Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Haha, honey dragons are actually a great idea, tiny little dragons the size of piggies (with wings).  They could be kept in your garden in a Honey Dragon Nest/Hive (where you'd collect the honey), and could follow you around as a pet if you had a high enough AK skill?

  • Don't you think the walls in the Deeps look a bit dragony? What if Ileminskie was your honey dragon? Hit level 50 and it will raise its head and try to flame you? You have to climb up its neck without waking it and tickle its ears to get your honey (from where? No idea, an unpleasant earwaxy image is coming to mind...)

Sorry - just a bit stream of consciousness there.

I actually look forward to the rooks turning up - the game feels a bit safe just now.
