Help! My Brain is Full!

I have all the current skills (101 of 'em I think) and a brain capacity of 32. I got them all before upgrade cards came along. So... with the prospect of new skills on the horizon, how worthwhile will it be for me to expand my brain?
Will I need to get my brain to 102 to experience any benefit? Will I spend my imagination better buying learning speed cards? I'm just not real sure how the learning time works.

  • Each additional skill you start learning tacks on a certain percentage to the base learning time of every additional skill you may later wish to attempt.
-Brain Cap cards increase the amount of skills you can have accumulated before the penalty kicks in. Every Brain you buy will provide a tangible, immediate benefit on any new skill you attempt to learn, provided you buy it before you start. I'm not entirely sure if they can reduce costs retroactively.
-Learning Speed cards reduce the time required for only a specific set of cards. Same considerations for Brains apply.

-Given your level, and your skills, achievement and upgrade totals, I would hazard that you would do well to buy all of both Brains and Learning Speed cards.

TomC ran the numbers yesterday, I think it looks like those of us with all skills and all Brain/Learning cards are looking at about 54 days to learn PM III (one of the new skills), if the 6 day learning cost isn't reduced. This is before donation, of course (which can only bring it down by half if you pump all you can into it) and other things such as Time Quoins, Yellow Crumb, and Pungent Sunrises.

You'll see that I'm also level 50, and I've got about 1.4M iMG stockpiled - I think the purchases are well worth it, and shouldn't put too much of a dent in your iMG wallet.

A bit of meta-gaming here: If you unlearn the 4 transmogrifying skills before taking on a new, long skill, the time saved by the reduced penalty to the long skill is worth the time spent both unlearning and learning those 4.

ETA: It doesn't look like any of the Learning Speed cards impact Potionmaking, so definitely prioritize Brains. The Growing Learning Speed cards should impact "Master Gardener", however, so they'd be 2nd on the list.

  • You can only get your brain to capacity 60, I believe, but it will reduce the amount of time it takes to learn skills later on. I would guess skill learning cards would be better to get first, but someone else might have a more informative answer for you about the whole subject and the precise details of time learning impact.

ETA: As the post before me illustrates. :)
