Sad Butterflies...

Howdy Glitches...

I have a pressing question that I cannot seem to find an answer to. I've checked the wiki and come up empty-handed. Perhaps someone here can advise me.

The issue is regarding the milking of butterflies with a milker. Twice now, the milker seems to have killed my poor, sad butterflies. Is there a minimum number of butterflies required to use the milker? Is it that I'm trying to milk too few of them and, therefore, over-milking them somehow? Or is it related to the time between checks to pick up collected milk? Perhaps I'm not emptying the milker often enough?

I dunno...truly stumped and now afraid to use the milker. Advice? Thanks, in advance. :)

  • Butterflies eventually reach the end of their life, whether it be by a milking machine or by your hand.  Think of it as each butterfly has a set number of 'charges'.  Singing to your butterflies tends to perk some life back into them but if you're a constant milker, they won't last long anyways.

  • Wait, wait, wait. You searched before asking your question? That's crazy talk!! ;)

Out of all the animals, butterflies seem to "die" the most quickly. I'd say mine usually last about 10 days ish. (Guesstimate)

  • thanks a bazillion guys! (yes...I searched high and low and, alas, figured asking here was a wise alternative to simply killing butterflies with no understanding as to 'why'.) Now I know! Good thing I can simply make more butterfly eggs, as needed. ;)

  • Hehe Sometimes when they disappear they will leave behind butterfly eggs. One of mine did & left me 10 eggs. Very handy when that occurs. :)

  • I want the ability to make a small coffin with planks and bury them in the backyard! I would sing too.

  • When they died they just left me 3 milks each. They didn't understand: I want the eggs!

  • Did you sing to them every day?

  • I maintain 4 butterflies and 2 milkers.  Sometimes I sing to them when I have extra energy.  I have been keeping a log, and these butterflies live for 6 days, then all die off.

  • A small update was made, not worth causing a stir, that dropped the egg laying numbers of age-stricken butterflies from 10 to 1 :) So keep that in mind, I suppose?
