Howdy folks,
Have you ever found that you want to keep a mail message around because it's sweet, or funny, or inspiring? Got stuck with the "latest 50 messages only" display limit in mail? Got frustrated with the amount of clicky effort needed to banish messages you don't need any more?
It seems like quite a few of you have. Also, our servers were starting to complain about having to carry the bulk of some over-burdened mailboxes.
So, starting now, we're changing the way mail works in Glitch. You now have 2 "mailboxes" - your Inbox, and your Archive. When you receive a new message, it will arrive in your Inbox, accessible via the website and the in-game mailbox, just as it always has.
Messages will remain in your Inbox for as long as they are unread, or they have attachments (currants or items).
Once a message is un-attached and read, we'll whisk it away to your Archive, where you can access it again at any time. The archive is fully paginated, so you can see all your messages easily, no matter how many you've received. And if you don't want to keep a particular message, you can delete it at any time.
Newer messages from the Auction House will be deleted once they no longer have attachments, although older ones might hang about or get archived.
We're in the process of archiving everyone's previously-read mail right now, so don't be alarmed if your in-game mailbox gets a bit shorter over the next couple of hours - all those lovely messages will be waiting for you in the archive!
