The only one I sort of dislike is the uber-triple-jump card which is throwing off my coin hopping a bit. But it's hardly a deal-breaker and I definitely wouldn't pay more than 1500 to dump it if I could.
Oh, addendum, I would Downgrade the Rube cards. I hate the Rube and I hate his music and I would totally buy a "never see the Rube again" card if I could. Or at least a "the Rube is now silent, 30,000 iMG"
I've heard kitchen tools, jellisac/barnacles (for when you want to scrape with others), and the hoe one. I'm okay with all my upgrades, but there are some I've been avoiding buying, and would possibly feel differently if I'd upgraded everything that was available to me.
The hoe upgrade---the one that wears the hoe down faster---I could definitely have done without. It wasn't bad once I got the better hoe, but I didn't really notice the plus sides to the card, though I certainly noticed the downside.
I would undo the instant jellisac scooping upgrade in a second. I find it really incongruous to the point of causing a tiny bit of cognitive dissonance each time I scoop that the instant upgrade makes it so that you don't get kt's bubbly-lettered progress bar like you do with every other harvesting action. It also makes it impossible for me to lead any group scooping, and if everybody gets the upgrade, we can't ever do group harvesting, and if there was anything you would want to harvest in a group, it's the 20-minutes-to-respawn jellisac. This is the only upgrade I regret getting, and it makes me wince a little every time I scoop a jellisac, which, with tower-building, I do a *lot*.
Hoe Down is the upgrade i would happily give back as it was a real shock just how often my hoe started to break. With a how having only a 250 lifespan and the Hoe Down increasing the cost to use to 5 lifespan points per plot we only get to hoe 3 and a 3rd large gardens (50 plots) before it breaks. Perhaps increasing the hoe lifespan to 500 like the watering can it would balance out this huge negative impact it's having on gardeners and make gardening feel fun again instead of a chore.
Hoe Down is the one upgrade that I definitely hate the most. More iMG for more wear is sometimes worth it, but I just don't like it.
Other upgrades I find MAY be annoying to me or other players are.... the instant jellisiac? Hard to scoop with other people. Maybe just a slightly faster thing. But on the whole, this one is really nice :P
Energy Tank. Some people like to keep their tank low. Like me. I keep mine at a straight 2000. But like 2 days ago, I accidentally was buying a Goohf, then lagged out, I kept pressing the button, and it bought a +20 D:::
I swear there's a Aggressive Hoeing upgrade, but I can't find it. Must be the same as Hoe Down >.<
Um, Tool Wear. I haven't gotten any of the tool wear upgrades yet, because I like having my tools broken. Broken tool hoards and all. Tons of other people, I think, don't enjoy these (or at least didn't).
Possibly Walk Speed/Jump Speed/Triple Jump. Probably not, but some people may have reasons for walking around slowly... (A movie/play?)
The twinsies (and tripletsies?) animals things are somewhat annoying when you're trying to get the right number of piglets, and did the math, bu then suddenly you have 8 more D: But on the whole, it's an exciting bonus.
More Rube encounters can be bad for some people.
Longer levitation? It's a good thing, but possibly annoying.
Spinning fiber right to string? I wouldn't complain, but possibly annoying. So is making thrice the fabric, with Wondrous Weave.
I really can't think of any other 'bad' upgrades. Maybe the ones giving extra iMG, or more chances of bonus items. The tool making one where you occasionally get an extra tool can be sometimes really annoying, more surprising in a good way though.
Being able to unlearn unlearning for the badge again would be cool.
And if this feature is ever implemented, I want to call it 'degrading' :D
I'm the weird one (as usual) - the only one that I've gotten, so far, that I don't care for is the chance to re-spawn huge rocks.
Don't think I've rolled any of the newest ones, yet, so can't comment on those.
Being able to un-upgrade the size of your energy bar would be nice. I personally am not too high for how I like to play, but I'm sure there are Glitchen out there who impulse purchased a bunch of energy upgrades and how have a massive tank they don't care for.
The ability to undo any upgrade (except the keepable cards) for a small fraction of the iMG spent to buy it returned to you would be cool. A system similar to recycling wardrobe items for a small number of returned credits would work nicely.
I would want to undo max energy upgrades. They're far too easy to accidentally buy, and the more energy you have, the more it takes to TP and to not be pooped.
I'd be content with the ability to delete a card from my deck. I'm not ever going to buy the Rube cards or the ones that make it harder to break my kitchen tools. To me these cards are penalty cards, not upgrades. The brain capacity cards aren't worth the tiny amount of difference they will make to me, so they'll never get purchased either. After three months, I still don't have all the mining boosts I used to have but I've seen these cards I'm never going to buy over and over ad nauseum. At this point, I'd pay iMG to remove them from my deck WITHOUT having them penalize my playing style. It's extremely frustrating that I can choose not to learn a skill but I can't choose not to buy these cards unless I'm willing to give up on ever seeing the cards I do want.
Hoe down doesn't bother me at all...I can always count on my hoe to need repairing when I need a slight mood boost (ok! That just doesn't sound right no matter how I try to word it!! 8^D )
The only ones I don't care for are the Rube cards; I hate the music (why on Urth do I have to hear it if he doesn't show up for me? ugh) and the one (or 3 actually) thing I ever really wanted from him were the dolls which I got way before the upgrade cards.
Don't care about the hoe, just have an extra one with me.
The kitchen tools... I don't think it's an awful lot of difference since the number of tools you need to break went down. I got the last two badges in one evening not too long ago, I hate cooking so I really wasn't looking forward to doing it but with flour/sammich grinding it was a piece of cake...
I'm seriously hating Walk Speed IV and High Jumper III, especially the walk speed one. It makes the background move all herky-jerky, like the camera needs to jump to keep up with me, and I'm afraid it's going to give me headaches. My jumps are all screwed up now too. I would pay a sizeable amount of iMG to get rid of both of them.
I know EXACTLY what you mean about the herky-jerky movement but did not connect it to Walk Speed IV, I just thought my connection was laggy or something. Quoin jumping gives me a headache now.
Also Hoe Down is super annoying, it turns out. My Hoe is constantly broken.
So THAT'S what's making my screen so twitchy! I bought Walk Speed IV today and enjoyed the speed boost, but I think Flowerry Pott is right and it's doing something untoward to my scrolling.
I think the better answer to the walk speed issue would be for them to address the scrolling problem. =)
I'd also like to provide another viewpoint. I unequivocally adore the Hoe Down card. It makes any hoe action by far the best imagination relative to energy spent, and the extra repairs are a great way to boost mood if one has that upgrade as well.
I hate Hos Down too I don't need IMG enough to put up with a constantly broken down hoe. I probably woukd not have bought it if it had ome with a better explanation o the ing hoe wear trade off. Gardening is tedious enough. None of the other cards have changed my gameplay enough for me to want to rid myself of them.
The upgrade I'd most like to get rid of is Amazing Scooper. I like the Fast Scooper upgrade, but the Amazing Scooper is so fast that jellisac-scooping has lost its fun for me.
I don't understand why anyone would ever want to spend more time on an action than necessary. I'd spend 1,000,000 IMG on an upgrade that got rid of all the wait times on all the actions.
10,000,000, even, although I'd have to grind a lot to get it.
As a small request from this thread, the Rube will now only play music for the player he wishes to trade with. If he ain't there for you, you wont hear him comin.
Also, I would love to be able to take off a couple of the gardening upgrades. The "Hoe Down" and killing of my hoe is way too much. I would rather have the hoe down/speedy cleaning gone, and not have to repair the stupid thing all the freaking time. Its like having a regular cheap hoe again. The trade off, to me, is not worth the upgrade.
I don't mind the Hoe Down card, really. So I have to repair my hoe, oh well.
I do love that the Rube change was a direct result of this thread, which is one of the things that brings me back to Glitch time and time again - the devs are reading, they are listening, and if something can be made better without breaking something else, they'll do it.
But see, I dont think you should have to own 3 hoes to make up for something a card did. TS has said that upgrade cards should affect us negatively. IMO, hoe down is a negative effect that really should not be like that. I get causing more usage, but to the extent that people feel they should have 3 or more hoes to make up for a bad effect of a card.....that's too far.
but you don't *have* to own three hoes - I agree completely with Magic Monkey, the mood boost opportunity this creates never goes to waste, I very rarely end up with my hoe broke, and the 10-to-1 img-to-energy is just icing on the good-mood-cake.
