Things You Accomplished in the 9-20-11 Test

1. I finally have my immediate family all on Glitch. (My brother Chancimus Prime, and my mom sapysnaps. Give them a kind welcome, they've never been on the forum before.)

2. I bought my first marsh house! (and my brother bought the one right next door. Expect a double-house party next weekend.)

3. I got up to level 9 in 2 days of playing.

4. I learned the magical glory of the pickle.

5. I Rube'd a Piggy Cubimal for a watering can.

6. I finally got to play again after 2 months of not being able to. (This one's probably the one I'm happiest about.)

Can't wait till Monday!

  • Yes, I had a good couple of days too.  But whew!  I could not go on at that pace for long!

    I did get the house I picked out during the break - a veggie-themed meadow home with a beautiful mountain view.

    I managed to get a fairly long skill started before the shut-down.

    But I did leave a lot of open quests.  And so much to learn.

    I also left my pickle at home after it threw my good stuff onto the ground twice!

    I made a good deal with a rube - a flaming cocktail for a bean!   YAY!

  • - lots of XP

    - geared up to learn mining IV

    - made food IRL while making food in game. yo dawg.

    ...that's about it. I'm pretty boring.

  • The super scracer, a focusing crystal, Secret sauce, High Class Hoe, and a couple items more I got from the Rube. I made it to 13th level in two days. I have 27 skills and one Giant Emblem already (used to unlock skills thought).  I had my 4K house in Aranna in about 6 hours. Already double harvesting trees. Can't figure out why I can't fix my TinkerTool yet though. Was that Tinkering III?

  • Well I only dabbled until the last test, but during that test I finally came to really enjoy Glitch, and was a bit gutted when it was reset! This test though was really cool.These are things that come to mind for me:

    1. I got to level 11 (the highest I've been to!)

    2. I bought a house in Marrakesh Meadow for 10,000 which for me is awesome :)

    3. I met some really cool people, including an awesome neighbour!

    4. So nearly got my first emblem but not quite, I ran out of things to donate :(

    5. Visited the ancestral lands for the first time, courtesy of uber pickleness

    6. Realised I love this game!

    I'm definitely hooked now, looking foward to when it reopens :P

  • 1.I somehow managed to get to level 15
    2. Amassed over 30,000 currants
    3. Bought a lovely house in Marrakesh Meadow <3
    4. Got to learning mining III (which I never did even pre-reset)
    5. Managed to get quite a few accomplishments (around 90?)
    6. Got my GNG musicblock!
    7. Fell in love with my SeƱor Funpickle (wildly)

    I'm a very late beta tester, didn't expect to get this far though (almost as far as I got in 2 weeks of beta testing I got pre-reset). I feel good about how effort really pays off in this game :D
    Posted 15 months ago by Tanuki Subscriber! | Permalink
  • For me, it was pretty basic...but my top three accomplishments were:

    -Learned far more skills than I thought possible (thanks to the iPhone app...yay!)
    -Got the house I wanted (only a 4k treehouse in Groddle Forest, but it's on the ground floor...no more climbing ... again, yay!)
    -Got up to level 11, when I wasn't even trying to level but to just enjoy and feed my addiction

    And most importantly...we all got one step closer to launch...when the game will actually be open whenever we want to play (for me, on a weekend and I can play allll day long!! yay yay yay!)

  • Eleven levels, idunnohowmany currants, my dream home, and a couple of very short sleeps.

    SEVERAL cubimal boxes from the Rube (THANKS, RUBE), all of which went straight to the Cebarkul vendor for maximum return.

    Lots of dashing around and very... um... focused play.  Thanks to all who kissed/hugged me - I love you all too and will be social again when the game reopens!

  • Fokian Fool , you need two tinkertools, one to repair the other.
    Posted 15 months ago by malo Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I thought cubimals were unsellable! Is that only if they're taken out of their boxes? Dang. I could have had my house if I had known that.

    So, no house, but level 16.75, Better Learning 4 in progress, 37 skills completed, 124 achievements, got the mini flash game 3 times. I'm in a fantastic spot to set up my dream home & start farming on Monday. I am also an excellent cook. In the game, that is.

    Does anybody want my cubimals? I have a Smuggler and a Gwendolyn.

  • I bought two tinkertools, @Malo. Repair option was still grayed out :(
    Posted 15 months ago by Fokian Fool Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Made it to level 14 and got 86 achievements. Not bad considering when I first started playing, it took me almost a month to get to level 14. I got a house. Finally got all the remnants in the Ancestral Lands, too. Oh and I got to visit a lot of the new countries/streets. I didn't play much in July/August, so some of that stuff was new to me.
    Posted 15 months ago by Jarhaven Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Fokian Fool. Curious business. I was able to drag them from one to another, repairing each in turn, all test long. Picks wear out quick, eh. Not sure what the problem is for you. Next test poke me if this persists, and I will repair both of them for you. Just let me know where you will be and I'll tube your way.

  • I visited 431/961 places... So in the end I wasn't able to make a 'lap' around the world in 2 days (Work... Family...) but I did went to lots of places...
    Posted 15 months ago by Yohshi Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Accomplished?
    I played!

    Mostly I had fun poking around all the early-game stuff that I didn't pay that much attention to last time 'round. First quests, that kind of thing.  I guess last time I was in such a rush to level up, to achieve stuff, to... I dunno.

    I screen-shotted a lot of those places and made sure I read ALL the text in ALL the achievement screens, etc.  Whoever wrote that stuff is a genius and I want to have your babies.  Or at least send you cupcakes.

    It's a lot more fun just playing, actually.
    I would highly recommend it!

    The last few months before the reset I'd long run out of content, run out of little self-created projects, I'd achieved all the levels I wanted to, tried out all the houses...

    So now I'm playing.

  • I got 8 cubimals from Rube (only two repeats), and traveled farther than I did in all the time pre-reset (at least to new locations). I'm going to try to see every street (including new ones) in the future.

    Aside from that, I had a nice, relaxing couple days nibbling pigs.

    I did buy a tree house (on the ground, this time!). I'll keep it until it stops working for me. :) Like once I feel I need new trees or more storage.

  • Got to 12;
    Started Mining III, learned 28 others;
    Got a 12-sided die from the Rube two hours after start; traded my bear for it, but got another bear back from him for an egg;
    Got a chick Cubimal from the Rube for a regular pick, and quickly realized I had loads of time to acquire Cubimals later;
    Summoned a full-on Rook attack on the subway (failing to screencap it in the process);
    Got the house I'd been after since before reset- it's the right size, the price went down 2.5K, and it's "3456";
    First full test after getting my sub on (wondering what happened to my map teleports, though)
    Got and spent my first Zille emblem (about half the time it took me the first time to get one);
    Got my Uralia, Ix and Ilmenskie Completist badges; tried to do it in Kalavana, but I guess there isn't one there- should almost have my Chakra Phool badge, though
    Cooked food of any kind for the first time in my Glitching life;
    Got my gnome butler Jeebs back and in his rightful place :)
    Planted 8 spice trees and 6 or 7 egg plants in Chakra Phool;

    and some other stuff.

  • -For a brief, shining moment, at about 8 P.M. yesterday, after having been at home sick (for real even) and playing alllll day... I was # 4 on the xp leaderboard!!

    -Took a completely different approach to skill learnin' and found I liked it.

    -Resisted buying a house until I could no longer stand it. The straw that broke the camel's back? I didn't want to crawl out of the mines, and I didn't want to use my last tele-token. That was one expensive teleport!
    Posted 15 months ago by La_La Subscriber! | Permalink
  • -Did pretty well on the competitive front
    -Did not travel enough though :O (oh yeah, will remedy THAT next time)
    -Was quite happy with how my skill learning plan worked out
    -Got my starter house and was surprised to learn that three of my great friends live next door and above me, woooot! Yeah, I'd avoid a certain block if you don't like mischief. It's already afoot there (visualize Helga cubimal hung as mistletoe over my front door, by aforementioned friends).
    -Enjoyed helping people
    -Laughed hard and often
    -Loved seeing my pals, both close and those I only know a little bit, having the time of their lives, definitely the best part! :) [I am SUCH a big mush, I know.]

  • Two productive encounters with The Rube.  (Fave: a butterfly milker for an Awesome Stew that I got for free in the ancestral lands!)

    I finished Go Moloko Loco *before* relearning all my Animal Kinship skills and losing the ability to use butterfly lotion.  (Before the reset, it was annoyingly stuck in my quest log.)

    Managed to get to Level 10 despite being a diligent full-time grad student :-)

    Had a LOT of fun with the pickle.  And even more fun reading the delightfully juvenile playing-with-your-pickle jokes on the forums.

  • At the risk of turning this into a sapfest, this thread is making me very happy. We all so frequently cross paths with so many of our fellow Glitchen for only moments at a time, and seeing each person's accomplishments laid out like this really feels like taking a peek into the personal journey through the world that only that one person has ever, can ever, and will ever have. It's remarkable.

  • My main goal was to buy a house I liked.  Didn't really care about skills or achievements so much, but they tend to come with the earning of currants to buy a house.  I managed to reach Level 13 just under the wire; 29 skills, 89 achievements; and I may be the only player who bought two houses in two days.  I bought the first one to have a place to garden and dump stuff, and about an hour before closing I realized I could buy a Meadow house I can stay in for a while.  Love it!  I'm so happy, and now I can focus on being more social and taking my time!

  • I bought two houses too.  The one I'm in now I can stay in for a looong time.  I had to mine my little glitchy hands red and raw to get it though!  Got quite a few skills done and achievements.  Walked quite a few of the streets too -- courtesy of Senor Pickle!  He booted me to the Ancestral Grounds before i could ride the subway so it was a long walk back!

    I'm looking forward to relaxing and enjoying the game.

  • I discovered that, for a brief moment, I was #16 on the leaderboards! I also discovered the leaderboards in the first place. Not that I really care, but as a first-time MMOer, it felt kind of cool to apparently be doing something kind of right.

    I did the Rook-egg smashing quest in one go, somehow.

    And I bought back my Pasha's Place treehouse-on-the-ground and helped my first new neighbor buy hers too (thanks to a couple of advantageous Rube visits giving me some spare change.)

I love that you can dip in for 5 minutes every now and then when nobody is watching and you can just start off where you were. I always forgot what I was in the middle of though!

    I love this game, it's cool. Roll on monday (who ever said that before?)

  • As my friends were down the mines literally working their way to hell and back I I took it easy and casually ambled around Ur where I got myself upto level 12 by doing a spot of cooking & some gardening - it was rather relaxing and I think this will be my style of game play from now on.

    Along the way I somehow managed to gain 84 badges with little effort at all and as I experimented with learning what would fit my love of food, I racked up a respectable 29 skills.

    I bought myself a cheap house in a location that allowed me to travel easily and that was close to the resources more favourable for gourmet cooking. Cooking also put a few currants in my back pocket from selling food to those hard working chaps who just didn't have the time or the skill to cook their own.

    Im quite pleased with my cheap house as it is great in that I can just throw everything on the floor (inserting LOB 'fwow him to the fwoor pwease' gag because it amuses one to do so). YES cupboard who has snuck your way into EVERY house in Ur,  im sooo onto you mate and I rebel against your plans to dominate Ur with neat & tidy houses.

    EDITED: to make reading easier.

  • Got to Lvl  11

    Got a Home, it was only a cheap apartment but since I was focussing on getting Lem and Zille Emblems that's ok, it's a place to dump stuff should need to. Once I'm about Level 15 I expect I'll be set to aim for my 50k place again.

    Got Completest Badges for Groddle Forest, Groddle Meadows, Uralia, Andra, Ix  and Kajuu SHOULD have the Groddle Heights one but for some reason it didn't work.  However Managed to Get Rambler First Class Badge for my efforts too (Visited over 251 streets)

    I have Mining IV learning now. Got 14 other skills. Am set to get Better Learning III going as soon as we come back.

    Increased Friendslist to 104

    Was randomly teleported by my pickle 5 times each time he sent me far away form where I wanted to be... thank god I have teleport tokens. (although first time I forgot about those and walked from Ancestral lands to The Deeps ... looooong.)

    Found Key to Ajya Bliss and set a TP point there. Sparkly heaven

  • -Level 14.

    -110 achievements.

    -Got and spent emblems of Lem, Zille, and Tii. (I'm looking forward to having botany back. I hated passing all of those empty patches when before I would have filled them with trees.)

    -Traveled a ton. Completionist badges for Ix, Uralia, Ilmenskie Caverns, Andra, Shimla Mirch, and Groddle Meadow. I would have gotten Salatu as well, except I didn't realize there WAS no completionist badge until I'd been through every street.

    -Bought the house I had my eye on, all of ten minutes before the test ended! It may have cost me 15k instead of the 9k it was before the price adjustments, but I walked in and saw all of the quirky art in my particular model of cottage and I knew I made the right choice. I'm pretty sure I'm staying, instead of re-buying my Alakol mansion. Now I live in Bortola.

    And really, I played a pretty leisurely game save for those last two hours and change when I was racing to get my house. I got some kinship and gardening first, so I could see the world while interacting with as much of the flora and fauna as possible. Last test, I was so comfy in groddle. I rarely went farther than home in Alakol or down into Ilmenskie. I made my first trip into the Ancestral Lands and overall, the test was lovely. C:

  • Welcome Back and a warm welcome to your family!

    1.  I also got a marsh house.  I have to laugh though because it was a mistake.  I just wanted to check the listing.  I clicked on the door and was congratulated on my purchase - Lol!  Maybe I should have tried that with one of those fancy Alakol houses.  I was happy to find my Chocolate Bunny in the crap cabinet.

    2.  I visited 472 locations.  It would have been even more but i got a late start and had to quit early.

    3.  I also made some deals with the Rube.  I traded something for a Gassifier.  I can't recall now what I traded but it was a great deal!.  I traded dirt for a frying pan.  I traded the frying pan for a 12 sided die.  The Rube was in good form this test!  maybe he should go into Real Estate.

    4.  I went to Hell.  I planned it to get there just before midnight and met some good friends there.  I have seldom been there so it seemed like a good thing to do after reset.

    5.  66 Achievements
    6.  22 Skills
    7. 2 sets of Crab phones
    8.  Level 11

  • 1 - Got my old house back in Doofus
    2. Got 1 of my Gnomes back (still got 12 more to go)
    3. Got George Clooney and Hugh Jackman back (my piggies)

    Then the stuff that I wasn't really bothered about, but happened as an accidental affect of my crazy rush to make currants in order to get my house back  :
    - Level 16

    - 27 Skills (another on its way)
    - Top XP   -  25th place
    -Most Achievements - 11th place

    Then, I only just discovered this, but -
    Giant Lists -
    Alph - 11
    Cosma - 6
    Friendly - 7
    Grendaline - 1
    Humbaba - 17
    Lem - 112 (Sorry Lem!)
    Mab - 2
    Pot - 2
    Spriggan - 5
    Tii - 9
    Zille - 89
    (Note to self, bother Lem and Zille shrines more next test.)
    Which was all completely unintentional lol
    I don't usually pay attention to the giant lists, so it amused me when I saw I was top 10 for a few of them xD

  • I don't think you need to worry about offending Lem & Zille.  They let you through Learning and Minig -  both of which are the focus for many of us,  especially as they are some that give good benefits, but take a really long time at the higher levels,  so makes sense to get done early on.
