Some Sort of Therapy for the Hoarders

I'm probably the worst out of all the glitches in some of the hoarding categories. For example, I have 11,000 allspice and 7,300 milk on my floor at home.

Mainly I cry out for some nice in game therapy for our problem (I know others have some large stacks lying around) but I'd also like to hear how big other's stacks are.

So, how are we doing, fellow hoarders :)?

  • That is quite insane! I don't think I've even collected 500 of each yet haha.

  • My strength is not in numbers, but in diversity.

I almost always have a full stack of each spice, each fruit type (and 8x cherries), each gas type (2x general vapor), and each bubble type (2x plain bubbles).

Also I keep 120 ribs that I never eat, 600 meat that I never eat, 2000 beans I never use, 1500 eggs that are weeks old, a bag dedicated to a variety of Dairy Products, and over 2 full bags of items I classify as Tools.

Did I mention, none of these are stored away in my house? They are all with me at all times.

  • i keep 2 full stacks of everything i dont use, 3 stacks if i do use it, then sell off the rest to fund my donating to shrines addiction.

  • @Biohazard: I'm similar. I carry my stuff around too.

I've arranged the inventory I carry around and always have each type of spice, items I can get from trees, and ingredients I can buy/grow/sauces I pick up. I bought full stacks of all the groceries I can buy and have full stacks of crops and spices. I don't even cook. lol

I also carry two toolboxes and I used to carry around my elemental pouch but I temporarily put it away for more bag space while mining. Blue bags are for food/drink items and other non-ingredient items. All ingredients are in green bags. My one grey bag is for keys and music boxes.

I guess I'm an organized hoarder?

  • For you in-baggers: If I carried all my milk around with me it'd take up five and a half bigger bags. :)

  • I'm just glad the "perishables" in front of my fridge don't rot...

  • Every so often I empty most of my inventory of meat (I don't store anything in my house except musicboxes).  The most recent time I think it made about 20 stacks, though I wasn't counting.  I wouldn't call myself a hoarder, though - I just have too many piggies and not enough attention to do anything with the meat other than harvesting it.  I'd probably care more about counting it if I actually was, lol.

I kind of have a hoarding tendency irl, though.  I used to file and datestamp scrap paper among other things.

But I like to think I'm better now.

  • Well.. my hoard has overflowed my cabinet. Every slot of my cabinet has a bigger bag and all those bags are full or close to it. I've had to start several piles in other areas just to have someplace to put it all. I do try to keep it all organized into bags though, in case I feel like moving.

  • I need help. I just filled my spice rack w/ each spice 200 each and I'm thinking of filling another one and alternating between them so I always have one full. That's nuts! Help?

Along with all that, while I hoard, I organize it in rainbow colors. I'm out of control.

  • The therapy I need is a new street project or some kind of similar communal event that requires resources.  I'm nowhere near most of the hoarders here, but I'm building up blocks and fuel and working towards icons.

  • I'm over 8K grain bailed and sitting in the yard.   A few thousand milk, meat, and spices on the floor.  I don't mean to hoard so badly but I keep hitting the XP cap on shrine donations and I have the 50K house so I really don't need currants. Now that eggs, beans, drinks, and cooking are also XP capped there isn't a lot to do besides wander around and gather or mine.

The therapy I need is much higher XP caps on shrine donations and crafting.

  • Hmm... I have 376 springs of silvertongue on my table, 70 rubeweed, 117 yellow crumb flowers, 52 gandlevery, 37 purple flowers, 17 rookswort, and 14 hairball flowers. And about 20 seeds of each.

As for the tree harvestables I only have 1566 allspice, 1444 cherries, 1693 bubbles, 627 general vapor, 1295 beans, 1217 planks. Animal harvestables: 511 milk, 254 meat, 732 eggs, and 21 bushels of grain. I try to auction any full stacks I get when harvesting before I get home so I don't end up with mountains of stuff.

I also have at least one of each of every type of food and drink in food and drink stacks on my floor. And 20 of each of the food ingredients that you can only get via a vendor (like honey, mushrooms, salmon etc)

Oh and 360 barnacles I've yet to turn into talc (plus 180 already talc), 141 loam, 75 earth, 67 peat.

Fortunately I'm very strict about my rl hoarding (I throw go through everything and throw out/give away things that I absolutely don't need every month or so), which I guess is  why I gleefully indulge in hoarding with it comes to computer games :P

  • I can't remember the last time I was regularly using grain, but I keep baling it anyway, mostly because I think it looks cute by my animal pen.

You need to shrine that stuff! I always keep a bag for the shrine/auction and anything I don't use a lot usually goes in there and gets dumped in the closest pot whenever it's full.

  • I don't really hoard stuff. although I do have sorted piles of items around my house, so for example I have a pile that contains loads of the ingredients for awesome stew, then every now and then I make loads of stew until one of the ingredients runs out. the only item I do seem to get loads of is milk, but when I get to a thousand or so I go and sell them all to a vendor, most satisfying!

  • I'm one 50K house away from you hoarders. I'm in a 15K cottage and the very idea of trying to sort/move stuff in inventory has kept me strictly in control of stuff. If I can't carry it or store it temporarily so I can mine more ore,  I sell it or shrine it. But the day I get that magical 50K house? Oh yeah. I'll need an intervention within a week, lol.

  • Yeah...I thought I was bad, I have each compound, fruit, spice or whatever, but I don't have full stacks. I try NOT to get full stacks. Jellisacs, ore, barnacles, get instantly ground/donated. Same with full firefly jars, though now it seems I'm collecting empty firefly jars. I buy seeds 5 at a time, so I won't be laden with seed packets and produce. I'll auction every once in a while, but until the UI is better, it will be sporatic.

  • Put together a bag for a lower level with meals, drinks, tools, something fun.. and maybe a note.. then gift it to a new player.   Or find a chef and work up a trade.. you provide the meat, veg and they provide the meals.

OR we all make cheese with our massive amounts of horded milk and build the largest ever Mound of Cheese... hide one stinky and see who finds it

  • I've got nearly 12000 meats on my floor, and will never ever use them for anything. Am I ashamed? Of course not!

Am I annoyed about the XP cap on cooking? You bet.

Thanks to the XP cap, I gather far more stuff than I can possibly use in one game day - there's no point cooking more than you gain XP for, since it's just wasteful. There's no point selling raw meat to vendors, because I don't need the currants - I just need XP and energy.

Which just leads to all this stuff lying around my house, never to be used, adding to my hoards.

  • Ha!  Glad to see I'm not the only one who has a floor cluttered with items.  I thought I was a freak!   I keep many different items, not a lot but I like having a variety, and all my tools I just store on my floor.   Vegetables and meats and milk, I have been storing in my garden, because my bags get full so quickly I don't ever have room for the stuff I mine!

  • Just sold more than 33,000 meats to the tool vendor, but kept my last 7,000.  And holding onto about the same # of milks, at least until the load time for my house gets unbearable.

  • Guilty hoarder, here, but I am not as advanced as some folks, apparently!

My cabinet is full of Bigger Bags. Before I shelled out for Bigger Bags, my hoard was all over my yard. Two+ of meat, two+ of milk, two+ of cherries, one+ of beans (those stews keep diminishing my stash), one+ of bubbles, one filling up with bundled grain, one filling up with spice, one filling up with gas, and I am working on stacks of wood, paper and other consumables. There's a bag filling up with keys, a bag filling up with Random Kindnesses, a bag filling up with odd stuff that was shiny and called out to me to hoard it (CrabPod headphones, anyone?) I have a couple of bags with hoarded meals and drinks. I am also working on my third set of emblems.

The meat and milk are going to flood out of my cabinet any minute now, and then I will have a yard piled high with food again. At that point, I guess I will be auctioning or donating some of my piles.

  • I have emblems all over and herbs piled up to the sky.  I almost never sell the herbs.  Cabinets are full of bags of extra cubimals.  No icons yet.   Piles and piles of bricks and blocks and a few piles of ore so I can make powders as needed without having to fill up too many elements bags with red element (which I always seem to have too much of).

I don't carry much food around and if I harvest I sell right away.

I try not to carry too much stuff around so I mostly have toys, keys, earthshakers three toolboxes (general tools, kitchen tools, firefly jars and other misc tools) a spice box, an alchemical chest, a couple of elements bags, plus  several  mostly empty big bags for collecting resources and storing the music blocks and other random gifts that come from collecting.  I used to carry around one bag of music blocks to play for the xp but its no longer necessary since I get more from harvesting.    I often have a slot in a bag for storing crystals.  They take up less space then gems and I don't sell them so I don't bother to empty the slot (but I have accidentally donated too many to shrines so there is that danger).   Recently I've started to make sure I have a couple of machine blocks to donate to a shrine if I come across a shrine with zero favor I'll donate as many machine blocks as I can to get an emblem with having to sprinkle more than one shrine powder.

I have been thinking about carrying around a small half full bag for newbies.   They need bags and I hate to re arrange my bags to give them one.

  • During Beta I was an enormous hoarder. I've mitigated this by not buying a house. :)
Posted 13 months ago by mirth Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Jeeeeeeze. And I thought I was a hoarder by keeping around one or two extra stacks of wheat on me/in my cabinet. I tend to have lots of veggies (mostly cabbage and beans for stew) on me all the time, and all my tools. I think the only thing I truly hoard are musicboxes and sparkly. And even those get donated. I'm sure I'll hoard emblems too, as soon as I don't feel like learning more skills (in about five skills from now).

Anything else extra, I auction or I go hang out in Groddle and give to random newbies (lv 5 and under, if I can find them). I guess I would really hoard in earnest on my garden floor if there were street projects going on again.

  • I collect/hoard in game and in real life.  My real life hoarding is mostly limited to books, but in game I've gone crazy with the stacks.  I have the smallest swamp house and there is no way I can move... there is too much stuff on the ground!
Posted 13 months ago by Cloudie Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Wow, and I was worried that too many stacks on the floor of my home would cause serious lag... apparently it won't. Do any of you big time hoarders have trouble loading because of the millions of items everywhere?

  • I just pile thousands of stuff on the ground. It's scary. Sometimes I sell or donate a lot, but I can't get myself to organizing everything for real... just like in real life >___<

  • Oh my....I'm right now on my way to Cebarkul to buy bigger bags to stock my cabinet! I wasn't thinking of hoarding but of organizing; if everything is in its bag, then moving will be easier (with a friend, of course). Selling will be easier too. When I've filled a bag up with a certain item - meat, for instance - I can either put half on auction and half to the vendor, or all to the vendor; empty the bag, and start over. Still nice to know I've got company with the hoarding/organizing aspect :)
