Quest Prerequisites

So, I have only 2 quests at the moment, and I can't complete them until I have the skill/level required. Which won't be for a while. I need level 11 for one, and Tinkering IV for another.

Wouldn't it make sense not to even give me these quests until I can complete them? Or otherwise, make sure it clearly says in the quest description that I need to have "skill x" or "level x" to complete them?

I wasted time going to the Wintry Place, wasted food keeping the energy up to be there since the cold sucks it out of you, wasted money and bag space buying the sno cones for the quest, only to discover I need to be level 11 to buy purple ones, and if the quest description had stated in the first place that I couldn't complete it unless I was level 11 none of that would have happened. More quest intelligence, please.

  • You need to be level 11 to *eat* the cone, but you don't need to be Level 11 to *buy* it. It's always worth trying something because it's very rare that you'd be given quests that were way beyond your abilities.

I don't know what the other quest is, though. Share and we may be able to help you.

  • I remember the same thing happening to me on that quest. You don't have to carry all those snow cones around though... you can dispose of the ones you've already got - if you look at the quest it shows that they've already been counted. Then come back for the purple one later.

Personally though, I like having some (some - not all) quests that I can't immediately complete. It makes it seem more of a challenge if I'm thinking about them for a while... doing part of it now and part of it later. I don't believe there's a limit to the number of quests you can be holding.

For example, I've been carrying the "Get into a Froth" quest (make 3 things with the blender) for ages now... when I first got it I couldn't make any of the drinks! Didn't have a fruit changer or bubble tuner so couldn't make 2 of them. And I still don't have saucery so I can't make Hot 'n' Fizzy sauce to make Earthshakers.

If it was exclusively "learn skill, get quest, do quest" all the time then I wouldn't have as much fun.

  • Actually, you never even need to eat the purple sno cone. The rock takes them all once you've paid for them and then gives you the xp as a quest reward. So anyone at any level can do that quest.

  • [Oh, maybe my memory of the quest is wrong then... maybe you do have to carry them all at the same time in order to complete it. Apologies if so]

  • You need them all in your pack at the same time. And then they get taken away when the quest is done.

  • @theo: The last time I did the quest was before reset but from what I recall, you have to be at least level 11 to buy the purple sno cone, not just eat it.

What phelps.mike said is correct. :)
