If you guys would please comment on the word, and maybe send in some of your own words, I'll show one of them every day. Without further ado, here's today's word of the day.

  • I disagree. The Rube's very intelligent, he just chooses to act dumb so one day, on your second set of Rube trades and you see a cubimal box, he'll have tricked you into giving him your party pack.

That or he's just really really nice. His "Good deal, good deal" is for your benefit, not his.

[edit] But yes, great word :D

I never have good luck with the Rube, so i took out my anger with this word.

  • Gnomon (n.)
The area of ground beneath a gnome.

  • @ dr_loplop
I don't quite get this one. Can you explain it?
Posted 13 months ago by Mithril Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It's an ancient Greek word (γνώμων) which stems from Euclid's observation that any surface beneath a gnome must, by extension, have a gnomon.

  • I have some other words that are much more self-explanatory:

    Frogspawn (v.)
To cause the appearance of the AFLC Frog.

    Pentangle (n.)
A state resulting from keeping too many animals in a pen.

    Missing (v.)
    To accidentally serenade a butterfly.

    Gravitation (n.)
The condition or phenomenon of a floating headstone.

  • Glinch (n.) A unit of measure equal to 0.01 of a plank.
Plank (n) The standard unit of distance in Ur. A plank is equal to the length of a wood tree generated slab. Commonly used to measure the distance travelled by a cubimal while racing.
Kiloplank (n) Equal to 1000 planks.

  • Actually, 'Rubian' makes me think of:

    a) Rube Goldberg
    b) Rubik's Cube
    c) Gem-encrusted yachts belonging to Omar Khayam*.

*And, please, please, someone tell me you get this last pun. It's a classic.

  • Wow. These are all great suggestions. I love the puns, but also would like some more serious ideas. Thanks all!

  • I think that possibly, when i have enough words, i should start a dictionary. Please respond if you think this is a good idea.
Posted 13 months ago by Mithril Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It should be incorporated into the Wkik so it is there for the ages.
Posted 13 months ago by Kookaburra Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Or i could make my own website. Possibly...

Posted 13 months ago by Mithril Subscriber! | Permalink

  • Heh heh
    Maybe i... HAVE!!!
    (dramatic music in the background)
    No just kidding.

  • This is a phrase rather than a single word, but I propose "itchy digger finger", which is evidenced when someone starts digging too soon during the "Peter out Peat" quest.

    +1 TK-855 for Omar's yachts! ;)

As an aside, "gnomon" was the only word I was ever able to stump my dad with.

Good phrase. I might end up using that one.

  • Isn't it a little bit far and not very Glitch-like to call someone "stupid"? Harsh, and unfair, on top of just being rude.

noun 2: a person stupid enough to think wind-up toys that can be bought for 100k or more are "cool."
