Great start! Can we keep this rolling?

This game has a great foundation, but gameplay options seem to lose a lot of steam very quickly. Leveling skills makes a satisfying difference, and collecting any amount of money is a decent challenge -- especially while also gathering the bags and tools you will need. As you level and unlock skills, a new quest will appear that has something to do with the skill you just unlocked. So there is usually something to be working towards. The devs nailed it on making a system of skill progression that is meaningful.

The community is also very friendly and helpful, and you will probably end up doing some pretty interesting item trades with random folk.

There is a point though, that seems to come suddenly, when you find yourself with a house, tools, and some spare change. After that, there really isn't much left to do. There are street projects, but the game doesn't seem to do a good job in explaining how they work or encouraging you to contribute. Surprisingly, there really aren't many ways to "Show off" in a game that is based almost entirely on collecting and hoarding items. As far as I know, customizing your character's appearance is done mostly through the cash shop. I think having a cashshop is neccessary, but having it be the main way you customize your character is a huge mistake. If you look at any other game similar to Glitch, grinding and working in game for rare hats and articles of clothing is crucial.

For a casual MMO, there is a lot of great game play to be had while reaching the few obvious goals that are presented (big house, skills to manipulate most items). After that, there's just no point. The moment you start thinking "Alright, I got my house, I got my garden. Let's DO THIS!" you have already exhausted all the new things to do.

They're so close to having an excellent sandbox game here. The devs just need to realize we need a few more buckets and shovels to play with. We need more options to team up with people, we need more customization. Most of all, we need more rare items that are difficult to collect and worth bragging about. Maybe super large and expensive houses that function as a "group hall"? Maybe certain maps that can only be entered with a large party? Maybe being able to have personal NPC vendors outside your house that display the items you have up on the auction house?

We need something big. Otherwise many people are going to continue to drop out as soon as they get their pretty house.

  • I like. I also read that Tiny Speck plans to keep developing this game for a few years, so i don't think I'll be disappointed. With the user created angle they are pushin, wouldn't be surprised if they have a few tricks up their sleeve.

  • We definitely need something entirely new. Some kind of complex system that has various benchmarks and goals. What if you could race/compete with a certain type of pet (against other people's pets), who's attributes are based on what you feed them? We need depth like that, a reason to go out and grind and make fancy meals other than just for the sake of it.

I don't understand how a social MMO has so few options to compete against and team up with other players. I really like this game, and I'm worried it's not going to last if most of our updates are just handfuls of items and skills. The game is brand new and we are already desperately in need of a full-featured expansion.

  • A collectible type of card game. *sniff* For fans of Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon and Magic: The Gathering - this would be awesome... :')
