Although it is more organized it's far more difficult to scan your entire list to determine what you want to do next. It seems I need to hunt and peck more.
One of our goals with the new layout was to emphasize search: if you know what you're looking for, skip the digging and type! Hopefully this, combined with the category views and All views, will make it easy to get the information you need.
We are looking into the issue of upgrade cards given during the imagination conversion not showing as 'bought.'
Sorry to be difficult, but while the all function is wonderful, I much preferred the old system where badges I'd already earned would not only white out, but completely disappear when I wanted to hide them.
The uncompleted section someone proposed, showing just the ones I need and their categories, as it was in the old encyclopedia, would be the solution I'd like to see most :)
I am unclear as to why the one thing most people didn't have a problem with was the one thing that was changed and so drastically. I like having the 'all' back, but with all the achievements just faded instead of disappearing, it's a lot of scrolling. I have all the Cooking badges. I'm on a 17" laptop and I have to scroll 3 times to get to Cultivation.
I would have been happier to see the badges get better, more clarified copy.
Sprot: One of our goals with the new layout was to emphasize search: if you know what you're looking for, skip the digging and type!
Gee Sprot, you should know by now that we don't necessarily like to type...or maybe it's just that we don't always know what we're looking for...thanks again for the changes with the addition of 'all' and the categories not collapsing. Have to agree that an option for all 'uncompleted' would be nice too. Thanks again for the quick changes in response to our issues!
I appreciate the effort of giving us an "all" function, however it is still a step backward from what we had before. As Jarhaven said, it is a LOT of scrolling. Still very cumbersome. And now there are new problems. It hangs up something terrible now, so I've only managed to scroll down as far as the top of the cooking section and that took a couple of minutes. And the icons are so discombobulated that some of the alchemy upgrades show up AFTER the animal header, and some of the animal upgrades show up AFTER the cooking header!
An improvement should make it better and/or easier. This "improvement" made things worse and more difficult.
I'm having probs with this page - it's not 'all function' for me.
Before, if I selected to see just the badges I didn't have they were all nice and easy to view. Now I have a MASSIVE page that is 90% white with just one or two badges dotted over it. It no longer loads easily, scrolling it is a nightmare.
Please, can we have it back as it was with everything tidily sliding up to the top so that things we don't want to see aren't just whited out, but are removed from the page. If I want to see ALL of my badges I can, and then I don't mind scrolling, but for me the appeal of being able to hide those I have was that I didn't have to scroll past them all.
I know we discussed in LH, but your browser is definitely showing as being in compatibility mode when you post to this thread. It shows-
compatible; MSIE 8.0
I agree, that the achievement page will most definitely break, when IE is in this mode. When it isn't, it works fine. That said, I opened a bug for one of our devs to look at what's happening here. (Edit to add after previewing, thanks UXRoot, there is an open bug for it.)
Audaria, Miss Parsley- your browsers are also in "compatibility mode".
(This mode is there to allow someone using Internet Explorer to view pages that were designed for earlier versions of the browser. If you have IE9 for instance, and view a website that was designed with IE7 in mind, you click that button and it's supposed to just work.)
So, in the address bar of the browser, Internet Explorer, there is a little icon that looks like a page with a zig-zag line through it. If it is blue in color, it is in compatibility mode.
If it is grey, it is in normal, non-compatibility mode.
So, try clicking the little icon when you are on glitch.com so that it is grey in color.
I can assure you that i am NOT running compatibility mode for glitch at all. I only have ONE site that is being run in compatibility mode and it's not this one! As to why it shows that way to you I have no idea.
I can tell you I'm running windows xp pro, i.e. version 8, and NOT compatibility mode for this website. I have checked my list of sites that ARE run this way (Tools, compatibility view settings - for anyone else who wants to check), and have turned it on and then off again to double check.
Are all the other people who are having this problem also running i.e. 8 perhaps?
I just want to say that, overall, I do like the redesign. I'm glad there's an "all" category.
However, I want to be very clear on one thing. As others have also noted, having no option to collapse the white space/actually completely hide things I've already achieved makes the whole system mostly useless to me and the "all" category pointless. Endless scrolling past empty pages is even less fun to me than loading lots of pages trying to find something. If there's a desire to keep the two levels of differentiation there are currently (all bold, unachieved bold and achieved faded), please, for the love of whatever you love, give the "show only unachieved" option as a number 3.
FWIW. I also complained about the new page for all achievements. I'm on a Mac using Chrome.
The issue is that before when we hid achievements we already have they would actually be removed and what was left was a page with all the categories and the achievements we still needed nicely on one (or two, three depending how many we still needed) line(s) behind it.
If we had all achievements for a certain category, we had little whitespace and the next category would be right below it.
Now however, the achievements we already have are literally hidden and their positions are remembered and the remaining achievements stay in place leaving us with huge whitespace if we have lots or all of the achievements for a category already, see here, this part of the page in presentation mode in Chrome...
Vialdana- I said earlier we have a case for a dev to look over it. So for now, you will have to avoid looking at the encyclopedia unless you are willing to look at it in Firefox or Chrome.
:)
WebWeaver, the browser-specific issue is that the page can't be scrolled if you choose to hide/fade out the already achieved achievements. The massive fields of white space as in your screenshot are, as far as I know, a deliberate design decision.
As to me? I'm refusing to shut my computer down or close my browser right now because I still have one unrefreshed tab with the old achievement page in it, and I'd rather have an out of date one that gives me the information in a format I can use. (Admittedly, I don't do those things all that often, but I don't normally go out of my way to avoid it either.)
Hello again! The bugs that Vialdana and Audaria reported that were affecting older versions of Internet Explorer (wonky layout and unresponsive pages) should now be fixed.
And...toggling the achievements/skills/upgrades you've got now hides them completely. Think how much wear you'll save on your mouse scroll wheel!
