Gnomes as vendors and hosts

I'd love to have gnomes be able to give/sell items. It could be used as a vendor, or as for when we have house parties, as a way to give food to everyone (set limits of like one per person).

Actions:
Set Message: Sets the message that the gnome will say when the player clicks on it.
Hold items: bring up a dialog so that you can give items to the gnome.

Once the gnome has items, you can then set their properties of price and limit. It would allow for a lot of different uses, and could be a lot of fun.

  • I like this idea of gnomes as vendors...though I think you could expand the idea that they also be used as drop boxes in front of homes so people can leave items for their friend and neighbors without having to mail them.

I like the idea that they could be used to dole out things to friends, and that way they could build in that anything in a house is locked down to the owner other than things obtained from a gnome...that way we could let people into our homes more easily without fear that they'd steal things.  Right now I don't let anyone into my home unless I know them pretty well...but I was lucky to come to this game with a group of friends...not all players have a set of friends and it can take quite a while to build trust in a game.

  • I like this too.

There is a related but somewhat different thread about expanding the role of gnomes/lawn ornaments:

  • Yes, nice idea. +1 definitely.  [ a little off-topic, but maybe there should be a gnome-upgrading skill. Or a gnome-customizing skill.]

  • Gnome Management! I like that idea that it should be a skill. Yes, it would work well to be able to lock down items in a house. I was sort of thinking back to Ultima Online where you could lock items down in your house, and make public vendors.
