How do you deal with pre-launch trepidation?

I, for one, so love the game just the way it is...   ... It is difficult to swallow the thought of such a tramatic change... The game will be available 24/7..How will this affect the way you live?

  • Right now I am trying to cram in the little time I get here and choosing Glitch over other needs since the time is so precious. Once it's available, 24/7, I will probably make time to bathe first before I play Glitch. *sniff sniffffff* Eeewy!

*hears applause & cheers from a distance*  :P

  • No more End-of-the-World parties, less active Forums, more immature people joining....Ohh, I also love the game just as it is.

  • the way i live? i'm hoping for the better, because it won't be such a Big Thing when the game opens for tests.

but really, i'm hoping that sometime between now and next test (i say this every time) i pull it together to find some will power to make sure that this game has Zero effect on how i live :)

  • @Stormy Weather..... +1,000....I am sure it will all be fine.. It will just be so totally different from our present experience of  "Game on....      Game off..."                     . I get such a high when the Game comes on after being down  a few days...            It is Christmas and Halloween all rolled into one...my heart sings.               Perhaps it will be even better when any time, night or day, I can access my   adorable, embraceable   Glitch.

  • i will be able to RL de-stress on a regular basis! Will no longer make my kitties wait until i finish meditating to be let out or in. I vow to cook again, clean again, eat somewhere other than at keyboard, watch movies with my son, and leave the house when game is on! Ok maybe only a movie here and there with son, we have totally different tastes! And I will probably always eat at the keyboard, but it is a plan!

  • 24/7 availability to me means:

    * If I am stressed, no matter time of day or day of week, I will be able to steal away a few minutes to be enveloped by a world not of my making, not of the demands, pressures and reality that I am facing. I will have an escape, though possibly brief.

    * It will take more coordination to game with the people with whom I have built friendships. The ebb and flow will be different because the sense of urgency will be gone.

    * The goal of my gameplay will change. It will no longer be about finding bugs or uncovering ways to improve things. Sure, that element is always there, but it's not the same.

    * Some of the things that I enjoy about Glitch - having spaces that are not overpopulated and can be easily wandered in peace will go away or be nearly impossible to find.

    * New people will come into my life.

  • I'm wondering how glitch will change with the huge influx of new people likely to come in. there are some spots that are crowded already,so it makes me wonder if a "channel" system would be good for glitch,at least for crowded streets.for example, once say, Yeoman's Bluff reaches X amount of players, any other players moving in would be moved to Channel 2 Yeoman's bluff automatically, but can switch to Channel 1's if they want to. Also, if you're following someone, you stay on the same "channel' they do.
hmm, I'm gonna crosspost this in suggestions.

  • I'm actually really looking forward to starting over.
Looking forward to achieving all my personal goals again, from buying the first big bag to buying a 'nice' house.
Plus, best of all. I'm really hoping that when the site's available 24-7 that it'll cut down my addiction some.

At the moment, because of the erratic opening times, I feel that when Glitch is open, I have to play as much as possible.  Which is quite hazardous to my real life. Already had an argument with partner over the weekend about how much time I was spending on computer. He said if I didn't get offline, he'd have an affair, to which I said something along the lines of "Great! Then I'll have more time to be online!" lol

Hopefully with full opening, I'll be able to get myself into a less frantic Glitch routine. I'll not have to stay awake until silly'o clock in the morning trying to cram as much as possible into my Glitch life before closing, and my partner won't end up being Mr. Grumpy.

So yeah... will be kind of sad to loose my home and my piggies, but I've got my Glitchy friends, I've got my Glitchy avatar and... bring it on :D

  • Looking forward to both starting over AND the influx of Glitchens and know too much anxiety about the future is wasted energy. It will be wonderful beyond our expectations as Glitch takes it's place in the real-world market, going head to head with other online games.

With new players will come inspiration, inovation, more fun, many new relationships and lots of opportunity to share our world!

  • It would probably make my life more normal.  As it is now, I feel pressured to get as much done during tests as I can.  Once the game goes live, I will probably play the same amount I play now (maybe a few days a week) but it can be more spread out and I won't feel as pressured if I don't log on.

  • It won't have much effect on me other than the fact that I can play every day if I want.  As an older player, I have aches and pains that keep me from playing much more than two hours at a time so even during tests I play in short sessions.  Mainly I will not feel the pressure to get back in to do things before the game closes for several days.  I look forward to that.
