Updated Cubimal Prices at Toy Vendors

Hey all!

I took the massive amount of probability data Haze is collecting over at
  www.glitch.com/forum/genera...
and updated my numbers.

I took this data and did the same thing I did before to work out the "effective price the Toy Vendor is charging for specific cubimals once you get rid of the probability".

This time I put it in a public Google Doc so it'll be easy to update. I also included some other probability related numbers answering questions like "How many boxes would I have to open to have a 50/90/99% chance of getting cubimal-X?"

Here's the link for them that's interested:
  docs.google.com/spreadsheet...

Read the notes and linked discussions carefully before freaking out. Remember: Market prices will differ from these numbers based on buyer/seller desperation, the ever-increasing number of cubimals in players' inventories, the positions of the celestial bodies, et cetera. :)

  • Very nice work Paddy! However I have one question regarding pricing...

If the base cost to buy 1 single unopened cubimal box is 4000 (and I believe you have a mistake in there using 5000 as the base cost), then that cost should reflect on the price of the cheapest cubimal. Logically, no matter what cubimal you get, you can't really say you got it cheaper than 1 single unopened cubimal.

Here's my proposed formula for calculating the column "Effective Price Toy Vendor is Selling it for:"

    Effective_price = 4000 * (2 - Cubimal_Probability/100)

  • I think unopened cubimal boxes are, indeed, 5k.

Maybe the vendors should offer scaled cubi box packs (prices are just suggestions / a guide).

5k for the Tin Cubimal Collector's Box / a common with a very small chance of an uncommon (no semi-rares, rares or uber-rares). Your standard piggies, chicks, butterflies, etc. Could also drop very, very infrequently from (say) tree-harvesting activities, to get the sickness of cubimal addiction kick-started.

10k for the Copper Cubimal Collector's Box / an uncommon with a very small chance of a semi-rare or common (no rares or uber-rares).

25k for the Molybdenum Cubimal Collector's Box / a semi-rare, with a very small chance of a rare or uncommon (no commons or uber-rares).

50k for the Whopping Diamond Cubimal Collector's Box / a rare, with a very small chance of an uber-rare (the top three rarest or special cubis) or a semi-rare (no commons or uncommons).

No option should exist to just purchase an uber-rare box (with Rooks, Rocks, Gwens, etc.)...you have to try your luck with spins, Rube, other players who like to trade and sell, or buy a Diamond / rare box and cross your fingers.

Could cut down slightly on the piggimal (etc.) spam all over Ur (hiding them is fun, don't get me wrong, but there are possibly more piggimals (etc.) than people actively cubi-collecting at this point), and scale a little so newer players can start a collection and then afford progressively "better" cubis as they start generating mad amounts of currants in-game.

Collectors would have to save more currants before purchasing boxes, but would have less chance of winding up with 493 piggies to distribute throughout Ur to hordes of people who already also have 127 of them. (Slight exaggeration.)

  • Heatseeker, I'm not sure you read all that stuff I told you to read before complaining... :)

The whole point of those numbers is that when you buy a cubimal box for 5k, you want to get something rare, not common.

Buying a cubimal box is like buying a lottery ticket: you buy it for a fixed known price, but its value when revealed is different - hopefully higher than what you paid but probably lower (in the case of lottery tickets, usually zero).

So it is exactly appropriate that the more common cubimals would be "worth" less than the unopened box is worth.

For more details, follow the links in the spreadsheet to the discussions that arose from the initial posting with the old data.
