Higher Level Content

Hi there,

Will higher level content be coming for Glitch?

Just curious because once the basics like house, skills etc are all learnt there's not really any BIG goals or anything to make trading more fun which is the part that I enjoy.

Also I know about vendors and group halls but really once they are built what's the main goal?

I know I can make my own stuff and amuse myself like that but unfortunately there's only so long you can go without official hard coded NEW content.

Just curious if we can get a hint as to what the plans are in the pipeline.

Thanks, Nyt.

  • Like new quests! I'd like new quests for higher level players.

  • Yeah, well quests that give unique items or just more rare's that will kick start the economy I'm sure. We could also have things like fishing, or something you need to earn points to advance in somehow etc I don't know?

  • I think we should be given a randomized list of the streets of Ur that we have to visit in that specific order, without teleporting, to get a badge.

  • I know where your coming from Nyt but have been hesitant to make any posts about high level content until we are out of beta. By then if something new that we actually have to work for as high level players doesn't come along, I might be moving on or at least not spending as much time in Ur.

At one time it was mentioned that our home streets would only be limited by a soft cap meaning that the img cost would increase to a point where it would be difficult to keep expanding. I am wondering if this is still the plan in the future? I was expecting street and house increases do double each time we did one but I was wrong. I still think it should have started out at say 50img and doubled each time we expanded with no hard limit in size!

The other thing I was hoping for is to be able to increase the size of my house again but with the house the size it is and all the sdb's I have, the lag is pushing close to the unbearable point so any house expansion would probably not be possible. I would love the ability to create separate buildings on my street like  workshops, nursery, storage sheds, shrines, etc that all act like an individual house so that I could spread my sdb's into different buildings and reduce my lag but who knows?

So please give us some 1 mil img or more cool stuff for us high levels so I have a reason to keep accumulating!

We may just have to wait a bit longer and be patient, I know they are working really hard at TS so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

  • Yeah don't get me wrong I love the currant (hah, pun) progress but there is only so long before you need more. Overall more creative options are always good, like create a puzzle, create a quest, create an adventure, create buildings, pictures or anything like that as it means your not limited at all.

  • Nytician, you might benefit by taking a few weeks away from the game, and then coming back to see what has changed.

TS is trying to get the basics in place right now, so they can reopen the game.  Until all the essential underpinnings are in place and tested, you aren't going to see a lot of progress in higher level content.

To your question Will higher level content be coming for Glitch?   the answer is, of course.  But not while they're still trying to make the basics work well.

As far as "What's the main goal?" the answer is "Glitch isn't that kind of game".  There isn't a single, main goal that you can achieve.  Glitch is deliberately designed to give you lots of options, and not require that you do certain things to "win".

  • Actually, I almost win every time. Someday I will get there.

  • Got all the new cubis already? That was quick.

  • I got all the new cubis in less than 1 hour and spent 800k to get them! I realize I got lucky with 3 scions and 2 bartenders so I had some bartering power :p

  • "High-level" content is a mirage. Whatever is added gets consumed almost immediately so the theme park model is as much of a treadmill for the developers as the players. I think it makes more sense to expand the game mechanics than to build more quests.

  • cubimals are quiet high level content as new players don't have the currants to buy em...

  • During the first beta, street projects were one of the few things keeping me interested in the game. They are very high level content, and can provide endless entertainment that isn't over with in a couple minutes (like a quest). Hopefully they'll return.

  • Have you thought about creating an alt? It might be useful to the higher level players and Tiny Speck if some of them were allowed to create new characters even though the game isn't open to that right now. It would give the bored people something new to focus on for a while and it would give Tiny Speck input on how things are working for 'new' players from the perspective of an experienced player who knows how things should work.
