I doubt people would take to this idea but... simply put I'm sick of the gas vs spice wars, so I thought I'd toss an idea which will toss a nice wrench in the whole thing. That idea is biodiversity. Let's face it. If you have a homogeneous population, it's very easy for some blight or plague to come along and do serious damage if not possibly wiping a species out. Since the 'bad guy' in Glitch is the Rook, I'd like to see zero regional biodiversity = extreme probability of a rook attack. This means that while people can keep Ix all spice or all gas, not only will they be fighting other tree factions, they will also have to fight off the Rook in order to maintain such an unnatural ecosystem. The attacks would be region-wide and can easily be averted by introducing a reasonable amount of biodiversity back into the ecosystem. Since major rook attacks can affect tree health heavily, it could potentially affect the region and the harvests people can get. It could certainly affect the convenience of keeping the area in its current state. (Note: Uralia (and possibly Shimla Mirch) would be exempt from this since it has so few (no) patches and in the case of Uralia, the Rook were expelled from the area.)
Personally though, I'd love to see spice trees reintroduced into the Forest. I still want an area which combines the forest environment and the dark red of spice trees. :/
