No trees? NO ANIMALS?

We know there's ground in Roobrik and Balzare--I've seen it a few times myself! But there are no trees. No butterflies! No happy chickens/piggies!

So we're going to protest until there is at least one patch in this new area.
This is a picture.

  • I can see butterflies and chickens there, but personally don't feel the need to have harvestable trees in the area (which means no piggies).  It's beautiful the way it is, and it's meant to be a quoin-hopping haven.  There are plenty of places to go for the other things in the wURld.

  • as long as it's a cool special tree that is magic and beautiful

There could be butterflies if anyone puts them there.  Personally I can well do without chickens there.  Plenty of other places for them.  (almost the whole rest of Ur!)

I also don't see that there need to be piggies, much as I love them, since it is not piggy habitat.  It is quoin habitat and that is fine with me.

  • Yes. Every area should be absolutely the same.

  • I noticed that.  I also thought of releasing some animals there but the lack of trees for them to feed on caused me to keep them.  I know they would be as sad as the piggies in your snap.  I saw only a very few streets with ground but no patches so no food for piggies (yet).  It does look like maybe there will be wood trees but no room there for piggies.  It would be nice to have animals there but we really don't need them as there are plenty of quoins and, of course, there are no Quarters there.  No mailboxes either.

  • Sorry no. I really don't see a need to have the same stuff in every region. If the devs want to put in a special animal that only resides in these areas or a special tree (like the paper tree) that is only available here, then I'd be on board for that, but not more of the same. Sometimes it's nice to go somewhere where there aren't piggies and chickens in the way.

  • No, I'm glad to find an area that is different than the other parts of Ur. Should they all be alike? I don't think so.

  • Your pigs look miserable!  Please take them somewhere they can survive.  :)

  • Absolutely no. I adore the area exactly the way it is.

  • Personally, I don't anticipate coming back very often now that I have my completist badges (unless I finally break down and go for the numismatizer achievements). But I can completely understand that for some people's play style, focused and virtually unlimited quoin-jumping has to be a valuable option to have. Not my bag, but that's OK.

That said, they're quite beautiful regions, and I have hopes that the devs have something cool up their sleeves, as when they added the sloth trees to the savannah.

  • not for this idea at all

  • Rather it stayed the way it is- it's less cluttered, and others have said, there are animals and trees all over the place.

  • I think this "protest" is a cute and imaginative idea, though. It's fun to see stuff in the forums I would never have thought of thinking about.

  • I can live without the standard trees and animals on those islands, but I would like something there. Quoin hopping is great and all, but it's the only thing you can do there so after getting the badges, there's not a lot keeping me there past five or six streets because I get bored.

  • I completely agree with this protest!  Piggies, I'll admit, seem a tad out of place.  But Cosma demands that her Butterflies be allowed to fly free throughout the Urniverse!  Also, she want's cake, but that's not relevant here.

    Where was I... oh yes.

  • Wow, those are some unhappy pigs!  They know its not an animal region, its special.  I'd sure hate to be confined to a single branch, with the ground faaaar below, haha.
Butterflies maybe, but why?  I like these beautiful regions just the way they are.

  • I don't think I'd much like having the same standard patches with the same bean and bubble and fruit trees like the rest of Ur, but I definitely think it'd been cool if there were a new type of specialized tree there.

    Also, Tree Octopuses.

  • They should have a honey tree... Or maybe a iMG tree that gives 500 iMG if you give it different items every day ( like a project)

  • I am thinking/hoping that the new biomes will feature new harvestable plants and interactable animals. Ix has spice, the bogs have jellies and barnacles, let the forest canopy have something else entirely.

Oh, also, TS, I need an Ewok suit when I'm running around up in there. Yub nub!

In other words...please don't make it into the typical just piggies, chickens,  butterflies and standard trees places...let these places be unique, and if there are plans for something different there...that's cool too...

  • The new island is a message from the Giants - it says, "You have been seasoning too many beans.  Take a break, jump in the treetops and watch the sun set."

  • Can we get a "Make Out" command in these regions?  It's a good make out place.
Posted 6 months ago by Sloppy Ketchup Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It seems like a grand place for splanking, too. But not for pigs and chickens, no.
Posted 6 months ago by glassy Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I really thought it seemed rather barren at first, though it is really gorgeous! I think the devs should put some new kind of animal or harvesting type thing here and make it the only place to get that particular thing but that's just my opinion. uwu

  • Count me in as another who is so glad there are no pigs, chickens, or standard trees there. Having them there would seriously take the joy out of the area, for me.

  • I like the current simplicity of this area, without animals, vendors, and shrines. And I thought Cosma forgot the butterflies (though they remember her).

  • Poor piggies. I can't get on in time to make them into bacon. :(

  • The problem with the new island isn't that it's different from other regions (that part I like). The problem is that all the streets are nearly identical with nothing to do other than jump for quoins. Hopefully they were quick to implement, otherwise it was a waste of time to make two whole regions dedicated to the Numismatizer badges.

  • There may be ninja hanging out there periodically, plotting ninja things... But you wouldn't be able to see them, if they were. And I certainly couldn't speak to the existence of a secret ninga group in Ur, one way or the other :D

    I love the new areas.

  • The new areas are visually beautiful -- I love going and hanging out in the hollow trees, as they remind me of the illustration style in one of my favorite books when I was little. So pretty. However, I would like to see something else there besides quoins. I love the idea of a new type of animal or tree, rather than the same things we see everywhere else in Ur. I think it's a great opportunity to bring something new to the game, even if it takes a while to implement.

  • Maybe we should wait and see what the bigger picture is before we insists it changes.  I think these regions are desolate by design,  we don't know why yet but to change it would be altering the intent.
Posted 6 months ago by Thursday Soleil Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I love the new areas and hope whatever changes that are coming for them (if any, they may be intended to stay that way) are good and don't involve more animals and things that we find in many places around Ur, I'd like for some areas, like the Ancestrals to keep a certain uniqueness about them.

  • I don't see a need for animals in those areas... but if you really want some, why not fireflies, which might actually fit the mood of Balzare?

  • Fireflies! I love that idea!

@OP, what do you mean 'there are no trees' ? ~the place is full of them! ;)

  • lol great picture!  I don't think it will change though. The new areas are basically just there I think to enable us to get the 150 quoins quickly : ) It's the only reason I go there, 10 minutes and I'm back on my home street : )

  • Well, they are announced in the log as "twin quoin-hopping regions" Why can they not just be that?
    Hmmm?
Saves the mad rush in GFJ at the end of the day.
Plus they have some fairly special quoins there.
    Plus they are beautiful.

Eventually, when us beta testers are all level 60, we won't have so much need for collecting iMG quoins, but someday, there will be fresh, beautiful, baby Glitchen who will need iMG in abundance to get of the ground. Maybe, just maybe, the new islands are for them, the next generation.
