Restore vs Remove

Is there any advantage of restoring an item that has expired on your yard?

I simply just remove it and just put down the same thing after to replace it... leaving me with my resources untouched (and some GAINED from removing) and it only costs a VERY VERY small amount of Img.

Am I the only one doing this?

  • It depends on what you want.  If you restore it, you gain iMG from the restoration process.  Not a huge amount, but it's something.  And, you also gain iMG from collecting what's needed to restore it.  So, if iMG is more important to you than time, you'll restore it.  If time is more important, you'll remove and replace.

I go ahead and go through the restoration process because I find it kind of fun, like a mini quest.

  • For me it depends how much time I have; if I have to choose between restoring or removing in the 30 minutes I have before going to work, I remove and put the sam thing there. Otherwise I restore as I also think it's kind of fun plus I like gaining the iMG of course

ETA: When you restore, for the first 10(?) times it prolongs the lifetime of what you're restoring by a bit and also the iMG goes up somewhat.

ETAII: Mr Conkin said: " Each time a cultivated item is restored, both its lifespan and the iMG rewards for restoring it the next time go up a bit (to a maximum of twice the original value)."

  • I look at the restoring as an opportunity to invite friends to my street to hang for a bit.

  • I like to change the street up so I remove most of the time.

  • I restore because like other people have said, it's like a little mini quest. I've been known to fully restore stuff on other people's streets as I run across them just because I like doing it.

  • +1 Aliera, I do that as well, but I also look to see if they're online and if so, ask them.

  • I'm pretty sure the real reason to restore is to improve how long an item will last, and thus reducing the frequency with which repairs are needed.  The act of restoring, while more expensive and tedious, extends the future life of the item each time.  (Up to some magical threshold where it's deemed to be as "awesomely long lived as is possible".)

  • FlatEarther: Yes, I ask if they are around, and I also look for notes/gnomes asking me not to.

  • If you're on someone else's street and their resource expires as you use it you don't have the option of removing it but you can restore it.

  • @Nerd of Epic - I believe I heard that the cap of restoration improving length of use is double the length of a brand new item.  In other words, if you keep restoring it, eventually it will last twice as long as a freshly imagined resource.
