Forums - Topic Subscription

It would be utterly fantastic if the forums here included the ability to subscribe to threads, or otherwise be notified when a reply is posted in a thread you've contributed to. Call me lazy (though I prefer efficient), but I for one do not particularly enjoy maintaining a tab or bookmark, or running a search, just to see if anyone has posted a new reply. It's particularly annoying, and maybe even a little depressing, when you discover that no, no one has deigned to acknowledge your ramblings. To be melodramatic about it, it kind of makes one feel as though they're forever alone.

The idea was also suggested in a vaguely related thread (here) by Pascale and Zaeirra.

("My discussion" isn't as useful I'm afraid)

  • you can *kind of* do this with the "my discussions" link at the forum column on the left, located just under "off topic".  But, unless you remember how many responses there were the last time you checked, let's say 21, then you might not know if anyone new has responded when it says "there were 21 responses since you posted.  Especially if you didn't re-respond.

I do think this would be useful, especially since this is one of those games where there is more fun to it aside from just playing the game.

ETA:  sorry, didn't see Lemo's response!

  • So I've wanted to post this for forever, and get around to it 7 hours and a "you-should-have-read-the-rest-of-the-forum-first" too late.  Whoops?

  • The problem with the My Discussions section is that it shows replies, but not new replies since you last looked at the thread.

So in terms of keeping up with a topic, it gets stale pretty quickly.
