Seriously, when we make more fun for ourselves & each other ... omg I just realized we could build a Perpetual Fun Machine. 'Scuse me, I've gotta go file some patents.
The sandbox group is, IMO, a symptom of a serious design problem in Glitch. Exhorting players to "find something to do" is a pretty good symptom that Glitch as a game is not fun in the long term.
Glad some people have found something amusing to do. I'll keep an eye open for an update that suggests there's more of a point to the crafting engine (or something.)
Yarrow, I disagree. I think that Glitch is a game that opens itself to cooperative gameplay and new ideas. Maybe there needs to be more end-game content, or quests, or other things I'm sure they're working on or will be working on in the future, but I wouldn't call it a "serious design problem" at all.
I don't think it's necessarily a symptom of "what's wrong with Glitch" as it is what the game is about--it's a sandbox game, where you have the freedom to make it what you will.
Now, I sure wouldn't mind more quests, myself, especially with story to them. But in the meantime, I do find it interesting and fun to see the ways that I and others can make our own fun in the world. It's a very creative experience, which a lot of games that are more scripted are not.
