How to Complete the Tower Quest (Gwendolyn's) in 100 Seconds or Less (during Feat #7 / The Fifth Feat of The Penyahtewan Assembly)

What was normally a typical Glitch quest turned into a rather fun optimization puzzle challenge. A few people tried to see how fast it was possible to finish the quest and here's one method out of many.

Warning: Wall of text details below for optional clarifications. Video should be enough to show the strategy.

Preparation: A stack of spinach, a Red-Green Triangle Key. Have the spinach in a convenient inventory slot ready to be clicked on. Resize the game window so that it's as small as possible (to help reduce possible lag).

#1: Arrive at Room 23 in Corridor Five of Jethimadh Tower: Mid in Ur.

#2: Either click on the door or press Enter on your keyboard to begin the quest. Press Enter twice if there are other people or objects that create a selection menu. The door should have the highest priority in the event of a selection menu.

#3: While the location is loading (the reticulating splines, unpacking etc. transition screen part), click on your spinach. This will save some time when the verb menu opens up right after the level has loaded.

#4: Once the verb menu is available, press C on your keyboard to activate the spinach and run towards the right. Do not jump too early or else you'll bump your head on the initial low ceiling. Jump right before you hit the ledge on the ground some distance in.

#5: Your spinach should last long enough to reach the trigger box for the Greeterbot Sentry dialogue. Quickly press Enter and go through all the dialogue as fast as possible. Be careful not to press any arrow keys while going through the dialogue to avoid choosing the wrong options. Default options are the ones to continue the quest. Keep your mouse cursor on the Spinach still.

#6: As soon as the sentry finishes talking, click on the Spinach and press C to activate it again. Run to the right while holding down the right arrow key and jump as you hit the downward slope area (shown in the video). Press up arrow key to catch the vine ladder while in midair and keep holding the up arrow to reach the top. Once at the top of the ladder, press left arrow key to fly in a small arc onto the mini ledge. Your spinach should have lasted long enough for this to happen.

#7: Keep running towards the left until you reach Gwendolyn. You'll hit some inevitable lag right before reaching Gwen, just like the mini lag with Juju Bandits. Press the Enter key as fast as possible when talking to Gwen (her dialogues go very quickly with rapid Enter key presses). Now you should be on your way to Area 42.

#8: Click the Spinach again while you're still on the loading screen and activate it immediately after loading finishes. Run towards the right and jump up, continuing to hold the right arrow key. Press Enter again as fast as possible to go through the Cactus's dialogue.

#9: After the Cactus, quickly walk toward the left and talk to the Squid for the first time. After that comes the most important part of this speed run. Walk to the stationary cactus in the foreground and stand about a centimeter away from the central cactus stem or a few pixels before the the oval shadow spot on the ground in relation to your feet (better shown in the video). This will ensure minimal movement when you have to follow the squid.

#10: Quickly finish talking to the Squid for the second time and stand still. It's very important not to move while the "It's CRAZY Hot!" buff is activated. You should see the "So hot! -3 mood" 3 times, and on the third time the Squid will appear again saying "Follow me...". Move to the Squid and stay for a split second until the Squid vanishes, then move to the left. The Squid will appear again, saying "Follow me..." a second time. Because of your previous standing position, the Squid's appearance this time will be very close to its final position before the cooldown screen.

#11: Quickly Enter-key through the rest of the squid's dialogues as soon as they appear and you'll be transported to The Outer Mind. The Squid should appear close enough for you to hit the Enter key without having to move again but optionally move just a tiny bit to the left for the final squid dialogue in case you aren't close enough to directly hit Enter key for the last dialogue.

#12: Spinach is disabled in The Outer Mind (and it's not really helpful there anyhow). Hold down the right arrow key while the screen is loading to begin moving as soon as the level begins. Prepare a triple jump by jumping once, then a second time right as you land on the ground, and on your third jump as soon as you land from the second jump, if successful, will be a higher jump (and you'll here the woohoo sound effect). Stay on the right edges of the walkway so you don't trigger the overlay text. Aim for the spot to the right of the middle of the top platform as shown in the video to trigger the purple Squid to appear and then quickly walk to the right as far as you can before the Squid's dialogue happens. Press Enter key again and move quickly toward the Squid to contact it. Once that happens, the Squid will appear again to your left, but you don't need to move, just press Enter rapidly to finish the dialogue and be whisked away to The Inner Mind.

#13: Click on your Spinach again while the level is loading and be prepared to Activate it as soon as the level starts. While on the Spinach buff, run up the steps and jump right before you reach the top of the steps. Your flying arc's path should include the mood quoin. Hold the right arrow key as you fly through the air. If the launch-off point on the steps was within the right range, you'll land on a platform after the first jump finishes and jump again (Spinach buff should still be active). The second jump should take you to the right edge of the level exit. If the teleport does not trigger, try jumping up and contacting the right edge of the screen at a higher spot.

#14: While on the loading screen for Gwendolyn's Chamber, the last part to this quest, hold down the right arrow key and be prepared to rapidly press Enter again. Finish the dialogue with Gwen, in which you're rewarded with 1 Random Kindness item, and finish the entire quest by walking to the right. Spinach is optional here.

Depending on the connection speed and the state of the servers while you're on the quest, you may finish a run-through in as fast as 92 seconds. On average with the method shown in the video and described above, each run-through should average 100 seconds or less.

  • What's the spinach at the beginning for? Just speed? Cos I found I was pretty fast just running and jumping and then climbing up the vines.

  • I knew there was something I was missing seeing people coming and going so quick. it took me about SchWM's time, and that was if I didn't fall in the Inner Mind.

I thought it was just my comp being slower than everyone elses.

  • Yeah the spinach should be used for speed whenever possible, and it allows you to practically avoid all the traps in The Inner Mind. It is already pretty fast with the Walk Speed IV upgrade, but spinach still makes it even faster.

Humbabella said he didn't use spinach and was able to get around 115 seconds.
