Any clues?

  • I really can't understand what they get out of keeping us in suspense.
All the whining and begging we all do must have been fun for them at first, but surely the novelty of all of us pestering them must have worn off by now?
If they let us know a date, it would let us plan our lives better, so we could possibly spend more time playing when the game does open.

I can only conclude that the staff prefer us whining and complaining to us actually playing lol

  • I doubt they are purposely keeping people in suspense. Based on the picture sugar posted it looks like they are really busy. I'm guessing the date/time of the next test is not the most important thing on their mind.

Don't forget, patience is a virtue.

  • Hi. My name is Becca and I have a problem. I can't stop checking my Glitch account to see if the game is open. I even check it in my sleep. Please Devs, open it again so that my brain can get some rest.

  • To reiterate part of what I said...I don't think they really always know when they're going to open (remember the couple times eric and others had varying views on this?). And yeah, they are pretty darn busy this week. No doubt making it better. But um I admit my main thought is...please open? (squeaky voice) ;) LOL No, really, I just hope when we do open next that it's a nice long test since we're having a nice long wait!

  • Nah, we don't *want* to drive you crazy. (most everyone can do that on their own) :)

Things could always change, we don't want to give you a date only to not be ready on that day.

That said, we *are* planning to start our next test, for July 12.

  • Thanks, Pepper:) Helps to know!

  • I think I speak for most people when I say we really appreciate having a date, even if the date changes, it's better to have some idea even if it's not totally accurate

  • +1 Laurali. But what to do with a Glitch-free weekend? LOL Sounds like lots of swimming pool time here in TX for me:) Also quite fun!
Posted 17 months ago by RM Subscriber! | Permalink
  • At least I can finally have a weekend where I can say "WOO. I have all of this time on my hands. Time to catch up on stuff!" Haha.
Posted 17 months ago by Cerulean Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thanks Pepper.  And we know things change so we will keeping checking here...who knows, you might be ready by the 11th.  (A little wishful thinking never hurts IMO)
Posted 17 months ago by MisAdventure Subscriber! | Permalink
  • i think the 12th is fine.

the all-star break is one of the most ridiculous parts of the baseabll season, and it starts on the 12th. i will have hours of baseball-less time to fill. Thank you, glitch, for filling that for me.

  • TY Pepper..helps so much to have a target date, we won't hold ya to it but again,TY TY TY.
Posted 17 months ago by AlmostSilver Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Pepper, thanks for letting us know, it may not be what we want to hear but I for one would rather have a target date than have to keep wondering.
Posted 17 months ago by Gizmospooky Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thank you Pepper :D  Now I can plan to clear as much as next week as possible and I may actually get some work done this week, instead of sitting here refreshing.
Although I'll probably still sit here and refresh a little bit.... just in case lol

  • What on earth could be so gosh-darn complicated that we have had to wait 10 days between tests this time...though????
    Feeling hugely disappointed!

  • Thank you for giving us a date, Pepper. It honestly helps.

I swing back and forth between a sense of entitlement ("THEY got me hooked! THEY shouldn't cut me off without any info whatsoever! Somebody call the WAAAHmbulance!") and gratitude ("Damn, I can't believe I was lucky enough to land in this game's beta! This is the coolest use of the Web I've ever seen, and I get to be part of it! Absence makes the glitch grow fonder!"). Gonna focus on that latter for the next few days...

See you all on the 12th, dollinks!

  • *wonders if we can bribe staff to let us in for just long enough to change skills*
Even if we can't play the game, Mr. Rock needs to be kept busy. This time tomorrow, mine's going to be looking at me all sad ._.

  • Thanks Pepper Rose, looks like I chose the right skill to learn during the break. Now lets get out of the house and enjoy the summer everyone! Mow that yard, pull those weeds, hoe the garden... ugh. Maybe when it cools down a bit. ; )

  • Back in my day, we waited WEEKS between tests, and we LIKED IT.  *brandishes cane*  We walked up The Drop eight days a week to get to and from school!

Well, actually, we didn't like it so much, but alpha tests were few and far between.  Beta testers have it easy!

  • Thanks Pepper Rose!  It really helps to have a date even if it's only planned for and may not be accurate.  Much better than being left hanging for the better part of a week constantly checking.  :P

    Thanks for the update PR

  • @ Lilith (Somebody call the WAAAHmbulance!") I've never heard that one before. Great. Can hardly wait to use it.
And I also agree with you. It is really neat to be involved in beta-testing, a first for me. Also seeing the people behind this game is pretty impressive and I can hardly wait to get back into the game.

@Cassiopia_cat - are you being serious or sarcastic?

  • Thanks, Pepper Rose, for finally confirming the rumor that was posted 3 days ago. Obviously a ts meeting was planned in advance, so staff was aware the game wouldn't be opened this week. I wonder what harm there would have been to just let us know instead of letting us dangle in the air. But at least we know. Hope the meeting was productive and that the hard-working staff have a well-deserved R & R.
Posted 17 months ago by GreyGoose Subscriber! | Permalink
  • TY for the date, Pepper...Hopefully y'all won't be just doing the face to face meeting, but will be able to enjoy a nice vacation while you're at it. One that is very much deserved!

  • I agree 1000% with Rachael2635 there isn't a logical reason to leave us hanging for a start time.  I thought Pepper rose was gong to be a lot more user friendly
but to not even tell us anyting for 5 days and then a hint of soon turns out to be another 5 days is really cruel..

  • @Rachael and @Julie:  I don't think they want to give any specific dates because they are not sure when it will start.  Last forum I saw where an exact date was given, something went wrong and they had to push back the test an extra day.  There was some, but not a lot, of backlash.  Perhaps they don't want to make a commitment they can't keep.
Posted 17 months ago by Laurali Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Julie:  "a hunt of soon turns out to be another 5 days is really cruel"

Perhaps you didn't actually read what Pepper said.  What she actually said is:
"I'll promise to tell you WHEN the next test is *really really* soon"

Pepper never EVER said that the test would be soon, she just said that she would TELL US when it was soon.
Posted 17 months ago by Laurali Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @ Laurali: Understood. In this case though, ts knew in advance that they would not run a test this week at all. A heads up would have been considerate, even if the date of the next test was as vague as "sometime the week of the 11th, unless something unforeseen happens". I know, I know, no SB-1 for me.
Posted 17 months ago by GreyGoose Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I think that we're going live on monday cause then will be my 10th BDay since my 18th BDay..;-)

Did you notice that they wrote "test is over. hope you'll back next time" not next test but next time ;-) I'm telling you.. test IS OVER ;)
Posted 17 months ago by Iskie Bae Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Rachel is right. (100%)

The tweet post(?) that I just read saying 'oh...dang...we forgot blah blah blah no test this week' shows a lack of respect for the players/TESTERS of their game, and the comedic undertone..not funny.
Go ahead some of you will make excuses for them, blah blah blah, but they knew there would not be a test this week and didn't even give us the courtesy of letting us know. Instead let everyone have to keep coming back to their site, over and over, to see if the game was open or if there was ANY info regarding such.
And for those that have already paid money for a sub, don't you feel like you deserve a little better? I'm just asking.
Posted 17 months ago by Sir Mixalatte Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Sir Mixalatte: They never said there *would* be a test this week, so this sense of entitlement is a bit overblown. People who have paid for a subscription once the game goes live have lost nothing of what they paid for, so the same applies. Also, I didn't notice any comedic undertone, so I don't feel it was in any way disrespectful. On the contrary, I took it as indication of a very human mistake--i.e., "we were so crazy busy we forgot to mention"--and completely forgivable.

It's all very understandable, in my opinion. No need to overreact.

  • Whoa, folks. Time to take a step back. We test at the pleasure of the devs, not the other way around. Am I as anxious to hear when the game will be open as anyone else? Sure. But they don't owe me advance notice - hell, they don't even owe me a heads up when the game does open. I'm grateful when I get it, of course, but the moment I start feeling entitled to it is the moment I need to remind myself that I'm lucky to be playing right now at all.
Posted 17 months ago by Tally Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thanks for the update, Pepper_Rose!

I have been wanting the game to open since it closed, but now that I know it won't be open until July 12th, I'm kind of glad I have a Glitch-free weekend. I'm going to spend my time cleaning the house and exploring the city and being with my partner. People are upset that we didn't get advanced notice about the long close?... Really? I admit I was a little disappointed at first, but I know they closed the game for a reason; to improve it and add features that we'll see in the next test. You are lucky to even experience the game months before it goes live, how is that not enough?

Anyway, I'll stop tsk-tsk'ing and just be grateful that the devs are all together and working hard to produce something we'll get to enjoy later.
Posted 17 months ago by KP Doody Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Maybe it is just me, but I'm not getting super upset to find out that there isn't a test this week and nobody told me.  It's really not that big of a deal, we only went a few days without knowing.

    +100 Tally.

The devs have a lot on their plate, and making sure that every single one of us knows a date (even as estimate) of when the game will open next is probably very very low on their list of "to-do's".  There has been a much bigger lack of dev response on the forums, and the game is getting much closer to opening live, I'm guessing these wo/men are extremely busy.  Cut them some slack, seriously.
