Rare Item Found

I will need the name of the item and possibly more identifying information, such as the street or area where you believe you may have lost the item.

I try to get in game at least once a day, but mail me if you lost something of value wandering around Ur.

  • Aren't you lovely?  It wasn't mine, as I have nothing of value, but this is a nice post.

  • I was wandering around close to Bortola earlier, and I lost my GNG!!!

  • Sorry, Rook. That is not what I found. I hope you get your GNG!

  • I've lost nothing.
But, I was reading the forums...some time ago.  There was a post from someone I did not know.  The Glitch had changed his or her name from one name to another, something like Guided by Foxes.  It was a post letting Ur know, just in case.  Made me want to add the player to my contact list, so I did.  Maybe I did this because I liked the name (I do), or maybe because something struck me about the way the post was written--very simply and clearly.  No hidden messages, just something made me want to connect.  And, now, I know what it was!!  I must have had a premonition about how sweet you are.  Yep, that was it.

  • If it was hidden behind something or in a nook somewhere, it might have been left as a surprise to people that are actually still exploring UR.  I know I've found emblems and rare Cubimals (back when they were actually hard to come by).  I've also hidden rare stuff just as a treat for people that find them.

  • It was out in the open. I've hidden stuff before behind things and in nooks. If this is intended as a treat, then it's one heluva treat!

  • After an appropriate amount of time (of which I'm not sure would be appropriate) and some bumps to this post, I will claim the item and use it to obtain items I desire and to spread cheer in the game because this item will allow me to do both, if it is not reclaimed. So the bonus is I can use it to get stuff I've coveted, and it's enough to spread the luck!

  • Maybe the person did lose it, but never reads the forums.

It would be bad to sell someones goody just because they dont know you have it.  Folks drop things by accident once in a while.  The Funpickle is notorious for dumping bits of your inventory here and there too, and it doesnt matter where you are or what you have, it seems to grab anything and drop it for you.

  • Pickles don't drop anything of value, depending on how you feel about a fiber...

  • According to a few people on this thread, Pickles have dropped valuable items for them?

I've never had that happen yet though, only 1 currant items.

  • I've never had it throw anything valuable.

  • Well, I reached out to staff. I posted in forums. I believe that I'm making a good faith effort to alert the user to a lost item. I am holding onto it and waiting for a while before I do anything with the item, should it remain unclaimed.

  • TomC,

Those people are talking about their own items that the funpickle has thrown around, not items that they have received from it.

Pickles don't actually 'drop' anything of value, as  kat said.

  • Well I thought when katlazam mentioned the item Fiber, she was saying how pickles only fling/throw/drop cheap items. That's why I linked to the thread, which was for people potentially losing items because of the Pickle verbs. But for me, I've never had anything other than cherries, pieces of paper, etc being thrown/flung/dropped/removed from inventory by the Beta Pickle.

  • If you want to post about this in Global chat a couple of times, that might help get the message out to folks who don't read the forums.  But that is not necessary and it's not bad to keep or sell an item that you've found.  The ability to drop and lose items is part of the game.

Of course, I think Guided by Foxes and this post is lovely!

  • Seems right to me. Where I live, if you find something on the ground your obligation is to bring it to a police station. Once you bring it there, you leave your information with the item. If the item is not claimed by a certain time, then the police call you and you come pick up your cool new thing/cash which you found. I think for smaller things they wait a month or so, but that's adding time for the fact that you have to go in person to claim it. For bigger things they wait a bit longer I'm sure.

Telling staff is the equivalent of bringing it to the police. This way, if anyone makes a missing item report for this exact item, they can reclaim it. If nobody notices it missing for a few weeks, then there is no telling how long it might be before they notice. Maybe never.
