As the game approaches the launch, what new Skills would you like to see?
(Yes.. make up your own.. if there aren't those that follow such as engineering II or Teleportation VI !)
Breaking the 4th wall, your Glitchen is able to teleport into our world and fully come to life. Done too often, this would begin to cause fabric of space-time to quickly unravel, so it can only be done once. Of course, your Glitchen wouldn't want to go back anyway, so it doesn't matter that we limit it in this way.
Painting II
Able to create signposts for said art and leave signposts displaying your art all over Ur. Also able to sell your art to vendors (price will be determined by time spent on art, quantity of color(s) used, time not sold, etc.)
Defensive Construction: build defenses against incoming attacks. Requires bricks, fuel cells and crystals, along with extra barnacle talc to hold the things together.
I like the idea of Recycling. Beers levaing behind beer cans and Hooch leaving behind glass bottles and stuff, and being able to recombine those into other useful objects; similar to what IxÆoN said.
Witchcraft I: summon Glitchen from Hell, cast spells to increase stamina/mood
Witchcraft II: ability to summon the Rube, exorcise ghosts in the ancestral lands, Enchant vendors to give you better rates on buying/selling
Witchcraft III: BROOMSTICK FLYING!
+1 to Carpentry - Even if it just means selecting carpet, tile, wood floors to furnish our homes.
+1 to Fishing - Only issue is we have nothing with "water" and there's probably a reason for that. If not, add fishing AND swimming AND hey, why not any other water sports?
I'd like to see:
Dancing I, II, III - Basic moves (I), Advanced (II) with couples and Party Animal (III) with reduced energy loss and killer additional moves. A whole night club scene with glitches dancing and serving drinks. I wanna do the Charlie Brown with my glitch! MANY MANY things could revolve around this alone. Dances can reflect different moves depending on the Music Block being played... DG-x verus XZ-x etc.
One-Offs:
Cocktail Serving - After crafting, add something in to allow us a flip n spin to show off our skills followed by a smooth serve-out to people. Yoga - Tie it in with Focused Meditation for added focus bonus Lock Smith - Craft your own keys from Elements!
interior design
+1 carpentry
If they could write a skill that makes ME (as opposed to my avatar) have better eye/hand coordination so that I would have a chance at those moving rocks, etc, that would be awesome
Code writing and code breaking, various levels of each.
These would have penpersonship as a prereq. We could then leave coded messages lying around, mail them, post them, whatever. You have to have CW1 before CB1, etc. CW1 notes could be read by CB1 and higher. CW3 messages would be only partially readable for CB1's and more readable for CB2, and totally uncoded for a CB3 reader.
ETA: I"m kinda proud of this idea...so I posted it to the "ideas" forum. If you think it's a good idea, go over there and tell the devs. beta.glitch.com/forum/ideas...
Weaving.
You could collect things to make yarn, and different fruit etc for dies. Then add it all together to make your own clothes. So instead of buying the items with credits, you buy patterns and templates?
Origami! Yes! And some of the cave streets are pitch black dark and you have to fold the lanterns so that they glow and you can see to get around in them!
You have to fold the boats to get to special places. Or parachutes for jumping off the high places. Or baskets to hold your fruit and herbs so you can dump them attractively for other Glitches to pick up. I don't know what the frogs woudl be good for - summoning a yoga frog?
I still want a trophy for 1000 cranes and a wish, please.
and i'd like to see a powder that makes barnies and jellies grow faster, though that's just an additional to whatever skill it is that makes the beaker work.
Tinkering 6: Allows you to use tinkertools outside of the game. You are able to remove the closed sign. Only players with this skill will be allowed in during closed time.
Conga Lining (CL): grants the ability to lead conga lines more efficiently, more people can join the conga line without being left behind, and less lag. Plus, everyone in the line led by a CLer will get a "Party TIme!" buff while conga lining, giving them small boosts in XP, mood, and energy while in said line.
Building I - V
Starts that you can add walls to your existing house/garden, eventually you can build whole rooms or add floors, finally, you can build sheds/shacks/separate buildings
Metalworking I-IV
Make things with metal ingots - start with making basic wire, and simple metal objects. Eventually be able to make metal buckets, tools (though we do have tinkering for this), etc. Advance to making metal beams (for construction/building).
Crystal Morphing
Change the plain crystals into pretty other colors
Jewelry Making
Make things with crystals, gems, wire made during metallurgy
Fuel Making II
Make vehicle fuels for scooters/cars that they would let us purchase in game...
Driving I-III
Need basic skill before getting a scooter permit from the Bureaucrats. Need second skill before getting a motorbike driver permit from the lizards. Need third skill before getting a permit to operate a mini-car from the lizards.
Landscaping I-V
Able to plant seeds in flower plots (and flower pots). Eventually able to move around the various plots and patches. Allow this in the 3D planes, not just the 2D/x-y linear planes that we have to operate in.
Pottery
Make pots to grow flowers and herbs and vases for flower arranging. Make dishes/cups.
Flower Arrangement
Make flower arrangements from flowers picked from our own flower beds
Swimming
Allows you to swim in lakes, rivers, swimming pools, and use hot tubs.
+1 - Carpentry - Put some RL skills into my Glitch
+1 - Metalworking - Awesome
+1 - Locksmithing - Should have multiple levels, I wanna see what people have in their houses.
+1 - GraveRobbing - I want something to do with the grave markers.
Stalking 1: highlights devs on your friends list who are online in red
Stalking 2: automatically adds devs to your friends list when they come online, making stalking easier
Stalking 3: when combined with Meditative Arts skills, allows you to use your orb to see what devs are doing behind the scenes.
Large mood penalty... something along the lines of tree poisoning.
Get a random item from the persons inventory. (You don't "steal" it. They don't lose it. But you get a copy.) Sometimes you just get dirt or loam.
