How quickly can one gain 6 levels while...

...simultaneously attempting to finish two major school projects, get at least twelve hours of sleep per day, collect some fairly time-consuming Easter achievements on another site, spend the better part of Saturday through Monday with their parents, and straighten up their pigsty of a dorm room before said parents come to pick them up? >_< I'm stressed...and none of these things can be pushed over to next week. No extensions on the projects, no tolerance for insufficient sleep, no idea when the achievements will be permanently retired, and no way to go back in time and change my date of birth.

I just hit level 54 earlier today. I've received some tips for leveling quickly, and they are much appreciated; I will be utilizing them as best I can. But with all of these factors present, as well as a relatively short attention span, is it at all possible that I will reach level 60 in time?

  • Proper rice is 100k xp per game day...

  • Why do you need 12 hours of sleep? After 8, you're not getting any more benefit out of sleeping any longer.

  • @Rook: And simple too...I'll go plant some rice. But level 60 is almost 600k xp, and six game days is about three real days for me. I don't know when exactly the levels are going to be removed for good, and when I'm not sure about a deadline, I get pretty frantic.

@Ashley: I'd classify "lack of desire to fall back asleep within an hour" as a benefit :) What can I say? I get very tired.

  • Don't grow rice, or don't just grow rice, just buy some from friendly's. No need to worry about making a net loss.

I heard that it grows in an hour and 45 mins?

  • Just buy the Rice from Uncle Friendly's, it saves you a lot of time and since it sounds like you are emphasizing level, it's okay to give up some profit.

  • If you buy all of the rice, and harvest the allspice, you make a profit off of making proper rice.

  • Yeah, it's a nice quick crop. It's 12 units per harvest with all skills, not counting super harvests, so theoretically I'd get 144 rice every 90 minutes, enough to make 48 proper rice, gaining 144 xp...I'm gonna go buy some of that rice in bulk, haha. Not that I have 400k to throw away per day (or...at all), but it's something.

Is there a point at which the game says "You've earned enough XP today" and nullifies any more you gain? I know it does that with specific processes, but what about in total? Is there an upper limit on overall XP gain per day?

  • I don't think anyone has reached a total XP limit if there even is one. Sirentist's recent "Xperiment" showed you can gain over 500,000 XP in one game day if you prep all the materials.

  • No, when it stops me after crafting, I go mine.
It's 12xp per time when you have full mood.
12xp per 4 seconds = 180xp/min. Not the most efficient, but it never stops you.
Petting/nibbling pigs and massaging/milking butterflies is also uninhibited, and also gives you 12xp per action, but the rocks require less moving around.

  • My tactic was nibble piggies and donate with EHSP and then making beans all the live long day :) solid 50K per game day easy without feeling overwhelmed. (on a side note I think we have lots of time before the imagination change over yet ;)

    best of luck and
    Cheers

  • Oh, and might I suggest donating the proper rice? If you aren't concerned about money, then you get more XP from the action you already completed. Or, you can write down how much Currants you spend, then sell enough to cover your losses and donate the rest.

    Other foody things:
    Oaty Cakes: 2 eggs, 1 oats, 1 birch syrup, -2energy, +11 or 12 xp I forget.
You can get up to 6% of the amount needed for level up for each crafting task, apparently.

  • Hmm. Well, as I said, I'm not a rich Glitch. There's no way I could buy 100,000 rice per game day; a tenth of that would be more reasonable, and in order to continue funding the effort I would need to sell as I go. So the donating is probably out, but I'll find other things to donate -- I seem to have good luck with gems when I mine. And the rocks make elements which make compounds which make EHSP...wow, it's like a self-sustaining...something.

  • Okay, someone enlighten me: How is making rice 100.000 xp per day?

After... uhm, I dont know, 300 portions of proper rice, I get the message that there wont be "more XP per day" from this.

  • Higher levels have higher xp caps for crafting.

  • Oh, I didn't know that. I guess that explains why the XP for all the beans I made a few levels ago cut off after ~195.6 beans instead of a round 200.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, guys -- I'm a bit confused...is this update that's coming sometime next week the one that's going to remove levels? Or is that not happening for a while yet? Because if it's the latter, I don't even need to be freaking out...^^;

  • No one knows for sure, but most likely next week's update will not quite reach the imagination switchover point yet.
Posted 8 months ago by TomC Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Probably not. The blog post update (http://www.glitch.com/blog/2012/03/23/progress-report/) says "First we will R2 and then later we will Imagination" (In a much more verbose way, of course). It is supposed to be testing, still free testing, to work out kinks and such, before we move to imagination. It should take a few days I should think, at least, of testing the upgrade system before the switch. And Monday is a holiday. And some people might take Tuesday off for all we know, so at the earliest you should have at least a full week, but really, more like a week and a half, because I doubt they will transition on a Friday or weekend any more than they want to R2 on Easter :P

Then again, it also said we would get the skills after both of those, but I assume someone pointed out that would make a lot of sad Glitches who couldn't play with their new toys yet and that's why it was changed.
