Alright, now I might be playing a bit of the devils advocate here but I have some concerns about the auction API...
Using the auction API as a test I made a JQuery script that would call your API and pull every auction(per_page=99999). Including "def=1" I get the base price and it doesn't take a rocket man to figure out that the sell prices of vendors is 20% of base price. ( with the exception of tool vendors which is 30%). A little tweaking for a few certain items such as the ones which have X amount of uses and such and I've made a fully functioning bot to craw the auctions and buy every item where profit is 10c+ and then I can resell at the general vendors. - Note this only took me about 15-20 minutes.
I personally absolutely love the fact that you guys are so great as to give us an API to plugin to but thinking on the other side of things this is a game you dev's have put so much effort in for balance. When glitch exits out of beta, I'd imagine and also hope that there is a flood of people who will come and experience this unique game. However this will bring many people who will write and bot the auction. Someone will.. You don't even have to get the best deals for vendors but just the best price on something to resell back on the market. Prices will inflate unfairly in my opinion.
Now someone could argue that if not for the function then they would just parse the webpage but if glitch grows to be a beast then I'd imagine that the amount of auctions would render that approach ineffective in the grand scheme of things.
To close I am not trying to ask that you remove it or that you even modify the function but I am curious if you have already considered it, or if not that you might put some thought in it. Regardless I have faith that no matter what outcome or choices you make it will be the best possible one, you guys have done so well so far. Thanks!
