Everyone likes being liked!

Do you like Glitch?  Well now, we will like you back for liking us, to the tune of 25 credits.  Check out www.glitch.com/account/bonus/ for details.

See you in Ur!

------
Update: You'll also need to have your Glitch account tied to Facebook- you can do that on this Add Friends page. Also in some cases, it may not work if you have a 3rd party tool that blocks a website from using FB information to interact with. Check this post for info.

  • Sure I like Glitch, but I don't Like FaceBook.   Despite linking to my Dru-ish FB account and doing the unlike/like thing... I get no credits.
Is it a problem with my attitude to FaceBook?

(Redeem button is not active despite the first Link thing showing me as a liker)

Edit: OK Finally managed a solution.  .... funnily enough by doing exactly- using the link page, clicking on the LIKED  and UNLIKING, then RELIKING -  as suggested, repeatedly!)

Can I Unlike Facebook?  Now that would be cool.

  • @Maruchan--Thanks--I had to unlike then click step 1 a couple times but I got it to work.

  • Sigh, yet another FaceBook-users-only promotion that leaves me (and many other dedicated non-FB-users) emptyhanded.  I can understand the desire to gain FB "likes" since it seems like a must for any company these days, but it is yet another dividing of a entire target group nto "FB" and "non-FB" categories and rewarding only the FB category.
OOPS! Should have read the Staff post a few posts down in the thread - Thanks for saying so quickly that you'll be coming up with other options for the "I don't use FB , but I love Glitch anyway" players.  :)

  • I totally like you.  (although I spend ZERO time on Facebook, I basically have an account so my spouse has someone to be married to)

  • FB is the best way to stay in contact with family members for us too. All my settings are set and I am not afraid.

Liked Glitch a long time ago, just had to collect the credits and got a nice warm hoodie. Thank you Glitch/Tiny Speck.

  • How long do the credits take to turn up? I liked yesterday and clicked through the redeem but no signs yet.
Posted 67 days ago by Benzyl Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Benzyl: Mine turned up instantly
Posted 67 days ago by IrenicRhonda Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Benzyl - Got my credits pretty much instantly upon redeeming.  It's also listed in my accounts history under credits.  Maybe worth checking there, or try unliking/liking again?

Thank you for the credits. I'd already liked Glitch, too, so this was a lovely bonus x

  • +1 litlc

and just to clarify, I LIKE Glitch. I DON"T LIKE having FB promotions. May I suggest something on Google+? Oh and the person that said she would wear a T-shirt to promote, well I second that.
+100 to bumper stickers or those magnet thingies on your car

  • @Myles: Thanks. Unliking, then reliking did the trick.

  • Got it now after a bit of fiddling. FB is good for keeping track of looser and less local friends and groups but I understand it may be somewhat porous to personal details which is why for it (and other online things) I will submit details which are close to reality but of no real use to scammers and other business opportunists, it seems to have caused no real trouble for me so far - and long may it continue to do so if I have anything to do with it (which I have).

  • Yey! I did it several times but doesn't work! :/
I had the page already before. Today i tried this unlike and like again... but didn't work.
And I "liked" twice (with 2 accounts, because the first, the usual one, didn't work),
so, will i get now 50 credits? (joke)
At the moment I got zero credits! :/

  • For people using IE... After clicking "like", press F5 :D Worked for me!

Thanks SO much TS for this!! :3

  • Although I don't really use my FB account, and don't like FB I ty TS for the credits.
It didn't get it to work on chrome, even with several times like and unlike clicking.
Got it to work on Safari after all.

  • Wow! Thanks, guys! :D Credits ahoy! Maybe I can refresh my wardrobe a little...

And the panic about Glitch 'starting to do everything via Facebook' is a little bit off, don't you think? It's just a way to advertise. Why shouldn't they do it? Why shouldn't they use the social networks available to broaden the game's reach?

You don't need FB, or Twitter, or any other service to play and enjoy Glitch. Relax.

  • I think it's such a nice reward from TS but neither of the aforementioned methods of clicking worked for me. I liked Glitch before on FB, unliked, repeated, tried several times: no clickable redeem-button for me :(

  • @ Porcelain
I had great problems liking Glitch. I think  my Chrome browser has some kind of app extention block on it. Stops facebook finding out where else i have been or something like that.
Instead of trying to figure out which i just signed in with another browser and it worked a treat. :)

  • "I think  my Chrome browser has some kind of app extention block on it"

Ghostery is known to do this; there are some other apps that intentionally block social apps from showing their widgets on a page.

Porcelain- your account is not connected with FB; that can be done on the Add Friends page here on Glitch.

Also- Folks- there can be instances in which your FB account may be tied to a different Glitch account.

  • Cefeida, I enjoy snaps less now in part because it takes longer since I'm trying to make sure I don't click the wrong button.  Part of my issue is anti-social-media feeling, sure, but it isn't completely emotional or irrational.
Posted 66 days ago by diaveborn ♥ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • thank you for helping me! connecting and using a different browser worked.
Posted 66 days ago by Porcelain Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Hay  @Kevbob,  how about making this offer  in Google plus?
Posted 66 days ago by Ancient Princess Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @diaveborn, ok, so it would be nice if there was an option to turn those buttons off (adding my vote to that) if you don't want them there, but, really, is it THAT much of a bother to avoid them? They're very clearly labeled, actually better labeled than the other buttons around the snap process.

I'm not trying to accuse anyone of being irrational, I just don't see how this little thing makes the game less fun and upsets people so much. I never post my snaps to facebook, I have to avoid those buttons too, but as with all things I don't use, I just ignore them. 'Share' buttons appear practically everywhere nowadays, not just in Glitch.

  • That's it!
My problem was because of Google Chrome.
I used Firefox and I got the credits.

  • Hi, this is going to be my first discouraging word post re Glitch ever.

I'm a Molybdenum subscriber.  I'll be adding on to my subscription next billing cycle.

However, it is disturbing to me that having a top-level subscription no longer gives me access to everything in the game.  Missing out on *anything* in the game because I choose not to participate in social media strikes me as un-Glitchy.
Posted 65 days ago by FlatEarther Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Not linking anything to FB, ever, no way, no how.

Their business model is based on violating privacy.

'nuff said -- back to Glitch.
Posted 65 days ago by Watson Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Flat, how are you missing out, exactly? Credits are available to everyone, there are just different ways to get them. These aren't special credits that grant special privileges, they're the same ones you can purchase with your subscription. Which you did.
Posted 65 days ago by Cefeida Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The offer of credits is only for FB users.  I do not use FB, therefore I am not able to get the credits.  The snaps contest requires a Twitter account.  I do not use Twitter.  Whether or not I would get picked as a winner of 500 credits isn't relevant to me.  What is relevant is that because I choose not to use social media, I am shut out of aspects of a game I am paying to play.  No one should have to do something outside the game to get inside the game rewards.

I fully realize that mine is a minority opinion and don't want to waste anyone's time trying to convince someone one way or the other.

That said, if TS would offer official t-shirts and other merchandise for the real world, I'd happily scoop some up and advertise the game in that way.
Posted 65 days ago by FlatEarther Subscriber! | Permalink
  • That particular offer of credits is for FB users only, but they're no different than the credits you can get by paying for them. Credits in general are still available to everyone. You've paid for yours with money, others have paid for theirs with a Like on Facebook. Different transaction, exact same merchandise.

I can understand being annoyed by the snap contest being run off Twitter, but when talking about the credits given away in exchange for support on facebook, you just sound greedy. :/
Posted 65 days ago by Cefeida Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Cefeida-It's not about greed it's about inclusion. I can totally understand FlatEarther's position. I too could easily purchase credits till they were coming out my ears. I cannot go on FB to like this game. I cannot enter a Twitter snap contest. We would prefer an advertising campaign where everyone could participate.
Posted 65 days ago by Holly Waterfall Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Cefeida: I knew you weren't accusing me of anything :)

Social media buttons do appear everywhere but then again advertisements are on a lot of game sites too, and I've always admired the sleek feel of the glitch site and of the game itself.

About avoiding the buttons on the snaps dialogue... I'm not sure how to explain it better.  I have to move my mouse a tiny bit more and think a tiny bit harder and it's not that big of a deal inherently or from a game mechanics perspective, you're right.   I don't mind there being game options that I don't use, but social media is external to the game so I feel that the burden should be on TS to make it as easy as possible to ignore when I'm actually in the game.

(I'm probably a bit off topic by now so I'll try to keep any further stuff on this particular subtopic in other threads.)
Posted 65 days ago by diaveborn ♥ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • FWIW, I agree with you, diaveborn. If the site was as cluttered as many other sites are, the buttons wouldn't bother me nearly as much. But as it is, their inclusion seems like quite a step down from the game's usual standards.

  • Since I already liked the game on FB (which is evil, and which I use only because I have friends and family in so many different places) this is no hardship!

Thanks for being able to unlink my FB right away again though - my gaming identity is not my RL identity and I'd like to keep it that way. :~)

  • I do not like FB - the spies
I do not like them, TS guys

I will not "like" Glitch or another
I will not "like" even my own mother

I do not like how you wish to share
I do not like this FB snare

    (apologies to Dr. Seuss)
