Dear Glitch: Can you please take my money?

Dear Dev. Team:

Short story: I can´t pay through PayPal or credit card, I wanna pay truckloads of money on subscritpion via MSM, make it so, chop chop!

tl;dr: I live in Venezuela, South America, and here right now we have a pretty stiff ruling about purchases on any kind of foreign currency. We who have access to the little ammount the government allow us to use really like to spend it in some goods and services that are more substantial than premium items in videogames. And that sucks.

BUT! some intrepid souls like this guys that really really REALLY want my money use services like this one to help me pay for their services. This is an easy way for me to throw some money on fun stuff like Glitch, stuff I would love to pay through something like that. No, is not illegal or shady or anything like that, I would never ask you to do anything that could hurt you guys, because I lobe you all.

I know, I know, some of you out there can´t understand how we can live like this, and maybe can´t wrap their heads around the idea of grown up dudes that can´t make purchases through the internet with their credit cards. I still can´t either, but that´s how things roll now around here.

I´ve tried to pay you throwing wads of cash to the screen tough, but that doesn´t seems to work, sooo there is that.

Thanks!

  • Had Glitch been around during the time that the Philippines didn't have PayPal access I would have railed as well. Thankfully I found Glitch about 2 years after we got PayPal access.

  • I was aware of that one Mal'akh, during that time I was playing a Facebook game named "Backyard Monsters" that was very popular among Philippine players, and their laments on the game forum were haunting.

  • +100! My subscription was a gift - but I have the means to pay for another, but I can only do it by mobile. I prefer paying by mobile, please make this happen before my subscription ends!

  • Liquor is usually sketchy

Oftentimes children use liquor from their parents to get drunk.

... sooo, by this logic, all liquor manufacturers wordlwide decided to withdraw their production of liquor? or did they said "hey parents! stop being stupid and get a hold of your freaking children?"

That´s not a reason to not give MSM payment service, my dear Offensive Username, that´s a reason to not have children.

  • +100 indeed Merth, I really hope this will be picked up.

  • It's not a reason to get rid of it all together, but the increased chance of fraud is a reason I have heard some small internet based businesses claim they will not use mobile payments.  I'm not saying that's the case with Tiny Speck -- just that it's not unheard of.  Payment services' fraud policies can, at times, affect companies more than the benefits of adding that method.

If you've never run a business that takes payments in forms other than cash, you should know it's not as simple as saying, "Let's add this payment method."   The services have costs and depending on the volume of customers the company expects to use that form of payment, it is sometimes not cost-effective, can sometimes even cause a loss per transaction.

Again, not saying it's the case here.  Just saying it's possible.

  • I don't know if this allowed or not but maybe you can ask your friends if they want to sell gift subscription for currants.
Posted 7 months ago by violetdragon Subscriber! | Permalink
  • violetdragon, it isn't allowed.

    From the ToS:
"Except as expressly permitted through the Service, you agree that you cannot sell or otherwise transfer any of the Credits, Currants or Items, or any other content or information included in the Service to any user or other third party, including on Internet auction sites (e.g., eBay) or in return for anything of value (including "real" money) or otherwise."

In what you describe, the "thing of value (including 'real' money)" would be the gift subscription.

  • Millie TS might have to update that section of the ToS since the furniture release. You are able to buy/sell furniture that has been upgraded using credits in return for in game currants .....

  • BlackWolf, Credits, Currants, and Items are all lumped together in the same category. Trades between those are fine.

  • money is so 20th century.

Just make friends, wait and see if someone buys you a subscription, send them something from your country.    No asking or negotiating involved.

  • "wait and see if someone buys you a subscription" lol, how optimistic!! Lemme try rose colored glasses!

Pobre Venezuela I grew up there and...sigh  :c

+1 for more payment options. I'm sure TS is capable of finding mobile provider that is not sketchy. Considering this will also be an issue for Eastern Europeans let's hope TS sees enough demand to do so.

  • That's so nice of you Countess! You are so generous, and you know that friendship and love is more important than money. :)

  • Still, there's still the problem of having a certain population unable to pay for services (boo on silly government regulations)... perhaps there's some sort of workaround that should be looked into (e.g., wire transfers, bank-to-bank methods, carrier pigeons, passing the money to a friend/relative who lives abroad...)?

  • Dear the Countess: I´m literally speechless, can´t even translate from spanish to english all the complex expressions of gratitude I´m trying to convey, so I´ll just say a big, sincere, heartfelt thank you.

Now in a side note, I want to make clear that I wasn´t asking for a gift (thankyouthankyouthankyouthe Countess), and if in the future there is a way to pay for the services of Tiny Spec through MSM I will do so.

  • You are so very welcome!  I just love this game more than I should probably admit and enjoy spreading the Glitchy love however I can.  I know you weren't asking for anything other than to be able to pay yourself, but since that won't likely happen immediately I thought I might extend this courtesy.  Consider it real life random kindness.  Have fun!
