See, i shouldnt have to play on mute, i know you can block and i have but i shouldnt have to do it in the first place! Maybe have an option to hear the musicblock? or just prevent Zeme from interacting with other people! :P
Please do not use the forums to call out other players by name! If you have a serious problem with another player's behavior, it's better to submit an abuse report.
Hey somebody we're not allowed to mention called Blanky 'Shit Staff' i sent a report if you want to see evidence ;) Pretty sure thats abuse to another person which is a no no :)
Whoa. You have no reason to call the staff something like that just because you're disgruntled and impatient.
You have a valid suggestion on the "accept/decline" musicblock playing; don't muck it up by being rude.
ETA: Rereading the line though, it sounds like you mean that the musicblock player called Blanky that. I hope that's the case, and if so, what I just wrote above this ETA is moot and should be disregarded.
It wasnt me who called the staff names, i cant mention the name of the person but have sent a report of it for them to see so this person i can be punished accordingly ;)
I didn't interpret the comment above as calling himself out as the sole abuser, as the GnG playing seemed pretty universal in that screenshot. The point stands though, and I'll edit out any specific "call outs" that I see, regardless of the context. And though I don't particularly like being called names, I don't believe that was the intent of the comment here or the message it was referencing from the in-game chat.
Most importantly: I've noted your concerns about music block spam and will pass it along!
Yeah I have had musicblocks played for me before and it was annoying, I am ok listening to the musicblocks once or twice, but the majority of them really get on my nerves lol. I don't think the only option should be muting the game. There should be a "[x] player wants to play GNG Musicblock for you" with an accept and decline message
@Jewel Stoned: true. very true. this game is really good at getting our tempers really high over trite things such as someone playing us smooth music :)
I've played the GnG block for people who've been nice to me or I thought might enjoy it. So far I've been good at judging that. It's sad that someone uses something nice abusively. :(
It takes time, @DrConsul. The the development staff has to suggest an appropriate response and try to be fair about it too. They must also balance the technical issues that come from modifying the client software. They are no longer in beta and have to move more carefully with upgrades. They've already had substantial issues just from some seemingly minor changes.
@Zeme, you've gotten people unnecessarily upset. Maybe you meant well, but the effect was not pleasing. And you have even gone so far as to be directly rude and abusive to staff. The better course of action would be to apologize to the affected parties who took offense, or that you meant to offend. The staff have in the past couple of months have successfully banned bad actors. If you really enjoy playing and wish to continue it's worth taking a few simple steps to smooth ruffled feathers and hurt feelings.
What goes on between a player who's being investigated and the staff is private between them. Staff don't automatically remove a player from the game just because they've been reported.
That's why they won't ever send you an email telling you how they handled an issue that you reported and that's why a player you reported may still be playing the game. Staff are the only ones who decide what the penalties are and how they are applied.
Just because staff didn't automatically ban the player doesn't mean that they didn't deal with the individual. They just didn't do it in a way that you can know what happened.
Always play on mute since I have enough of a hearing loss I'd have to play it too loud for everyone else. And really who wants to wear headphones ALL the time. Besides the local background sounds are so repetitive after awhile (in any game really) it's boring.
Fokian Fool, you say that [name removed] has "even gone so far as to be directly rude and abusive to staff". Can you point to this happening, as I have not seen it on this thread.
From my point of view, DrConsul is coming out of this looking a lot worse than a guy who played a music box for people a few too many times.
You two are correct. I dont know if penalties were enacted, but neither do you. I do know this has been occurring since yesterday. And continues today.
@Fokian Fool - you are making assumptions about who Harket was referring to. To be honest, from their behaviour in this thread I assumed it was the impatient accuser who was being abusive.
Anyway, I'll stop now as this *is* getting off-topic.
@Innie - In the screen shot posted you see a speech bubble where someone specifically names the person being blocked and the fact that they are doing it. It's an extreme measure. As it's a static image, we have no further context to determine what actually happened. If the person played for a bunch of people who then asked him to stop, and then he repeated the behavior, there is substantial reason to believe the person was being abusive. This does not mean that they were being intentionally abusive; merely excited about something and letting themselves get carried away. If that was they case, they would find this post and complaints quite hurtful and might lash out irrationally. The staff are experience at handling this. :)
@Cindy Electronium - No assumptions were being made. The identity of the individual had been made clear in the context and by that individual in this thread.
