Housing blocks should not count as new places

It's far too easy to visit tons of new places if housing blocks count, and that shouldn't even count as exploring anyway, since they all look pretty similar to one another (in a given area).

For instance, Marrakesh Meadow has 33 housing blocks, so I personally get 1584 experience for visiting all of them, which is quite easy, since I'm always at the "Marrakesh Meadow Quarter" sign when I appear in each block.

  • Is there some reason other than you just don't feel it should?
Shouldn't we trust TS to adjust it if they feel it is unbalanced. Or if they don't adjust it, shouldn't we trust that they feel the game has been balanced appropriately.

This kinda feels like another topic to put with the thing that someone from TS said. They're not going to fix things before they're broken. The game would never be released that way.

  • I think they should count as new places, especially after more personalization of housing and living areas comes online in the future.

  • I'd be tempted to agree with the OP, certainly at the moment. There's no real purpose in visiting 33 different levels in a housing complex other than to collect XP. Just makes it a grind.

  • No, there is! People plant trees and have critters in their streets that you can harvest, or hide drinks on shelves in the apartment buildings, and sometimes there are parties, and you can read their notes, and meet their gnomes, and and and... I'm spent.

  • After 500 places visited, you stop getting experience for new locations.  So does it really matter what *kind* of locations they are?

  • Ahhh, didn't know that Lelu. Saves me the trouble of searching them all out. Thanks.

  • Agree that once people can actually decorate, going from street to street will be rather fun to see what people have done.  Until then, yes, it is sort of a grind.

I'd like them to expand getting xp past 500 places.  In theory if I'm exploring any new street, I should gain some level of xp (because technically, I'm gaining the new experience of that street).  Maybe it should be a flat xp vice the increasing as I level up after 500.  However, at some point this game is going to have 1,000's of streets.  Doesn't make sense to stop xp gathering at 500 to me.

Also, badges end at 503...hopefully there are more badges (with xp) to earn the more streets you explore...

  • There used to be a 1000 streets visited badge. Looks like it vanished.

  • I enjoyed exploring the blocks to see how other neighborhoods co-existed. Some people set up communal meat collectors and milkers to share with their neighbors. Gaining XP was an added incentive to be more exploratory. I've since already earned the 503 Streets Badge and I'm glad I was able to gain XP while doing it. :)

  • Wow cool I have done the visit new spots the hard way gotten lost.  No really this is great information I think it should count I just never worried about how many new places I have been to been so busy learning new skills.

  • I spent a lot of time during the last test visiting all the streets I had missed. A lot of that is just grinding, but as said by others that will change. I hope the badges expand with the world and I think the XP should continue after 500. The amount of XP given for visiting a new street is pretty minimal as it is and why shouldn't people who want to visit every street get XP for their efforts?
