Bag Lock

I've seen a post for an "Item Lock" so that items in your bag might be prevented from being used (such as donated, dropped, given away accidentally) but I'd like to see a Bag Lock.

Items that I put into this bag could be increased up to their maximum, but if there are empty slots, they would remain empty when a new item is acquired and then filtered down to an open slot in an unlocked bag.

I just like my bags to be organized when I'm out so that I know certain types of items are in a specific bag labelled "Meals" or "Donations", etc.

That's all I'm askin' for!

  • Definitely organization for inventory and bags needs to be worked on.
    This is one solution.

Another would be to be able to mark spots for an item type, even if one has 0 of it.

  • No no no. When you get something, you move it where you want it. There's nothing that needs to be 'worked on.'

  • A tweak I'd like to see:  The bag lock would stop ALL additions to the bag.

    Here's what happens currently:
Inventory slot 1:   Bag A  Partial stack of cherries
    Inventory slot 2:    Empty
Inventory slot 3:   Bag B Partial stack of cherries.

I harvest a cherry tree and get a bonus that finishes the stack in Bag A.  What currently happens is that the game fills the stack in Bag B and then puts the remainder in Slot 2.

I expected the harvest to all roll over into Slot 2 and not fill the Bag B partial stack until Slot 2 was filled.

I'd like to be able to "lock" Bag B so that nothing can be added or removed from that bag automatically.

  • I'd like that although i never organized a bag i'll like to have it neat and clean for once

  • I would just like it to add to the first stack of an item and remove from the last stack. As it is now, if I have say a slot with 80 cabbage and then a slot with 10 cabbage and I use 20 cabbage, it will take the 20 cabbage from the first slot. Leaving me with a slot of 60 cabbage and a slot of 10 cabbage, thus unnecessarily taking up 2 bag slots. If it took from the second slot first, it would open up that second slot.

  • I agree with Audaria. I would like to see partial stacks used up first. Or have a button somewhere that consolidates stacks. Bag locks sound like a good idea too.  Actually, I would like to be able to lock bags into categories of items. That way, all produce I get goes to a produce locked bag first, the same way elements, alchemy and spices already do, but with my choices and the ability to add anything manually.

  • +1 on having bags set to certain types of items, for example, one bag for 'seeds', one for 'cooking tools', one for 'food'.. etc- so that they automatically drop into that bag unless if it's full.

  • I'd only like to have it take from the partial stacks if we could lock certain bags from having any items removed.  Sometimes I have two partial stacks which I worked hard to get separated.  I'm really looking for a lock that lets me set that up and then lock the bag so that nothing is added to or removed from that particular partial stack.

If bags aren't locked, then yeah, I'd much prefer that the algorithms add to and take from partial stacks before they start creating new partial stacks.

  • @WindBorn - I'm curious why you would want two partial stacks? Not criticizing, just trying to determine if I've missed something.

  • I have a bag called "collecting".  It has stacks of guano, cherries, beans, milk, etc, that I pick up as I go through the world.  These are usually partial stacks, but sometimes they fill up, and a new stack is started.

I also sometimes have a PayItForward newbie bag in my inventory.  This has 2 guano in it, along with a seed package.  I do not want to add or remove guano from this bag, no matter what else is happening in my inventory.

If the guano stack in my collecting bag fills up, Glitch adds the remaining guano to the PayItForward bag, even if it's at the far right in my inventory, and even if there are empty inventory spaces in between.  I'd like to be able to lock the PayItForward bag, so that nothing is ever used if I'm gardening, and nothing is ever added if I'm gathering things.

I also use partial stacks for certain auction items, as an inventory tracking method.

  • I sure hope you don't stack your cherries, beans and milk with your Guano... that might make your Glitch REALLY sick Windborn!

I do agree it would be nice to specify placeholders in bags for items (eg 1-3 for beans, 4-5 for cherries, etc), but I think it would cause more trouble for other people who don't understand it... perhaps a skill in organization tied to the ability would be more appropriate?

  • +10000000 for a bag lock but I don't like the idea of automatically taking from a partial stack as I use partial stacks to reserve places for things so they don't go all over the place.  It can take me some time to achieve partial stacks and I would hate to lose the ability to make them.
