Getting tired of farming

I am level 30 and I have gotten/completed all the interesting skills, reasonable badges, and quests.  Now, the game is just a farming game, with nothing to do with the stuff that I have farmed.  What else is there to do besides the mini-games?

    I personally like currants.

  • Join Sandbox...invent quests of your own...complete a bunch of real acts of random kindnesses...find new Glitchen and help them any way you can...give things to those who need or desire them that you no longer have use for...join groups, chat and continue to have fun! Wait for new street projects, make sure you have your Bureaucratic Arts II, because you'll need BA III for when the housing mods come into play soon...dunno...
What do you like to do?

Oh! I hadn't heard that... is there a thread somewhere I can find more info?

  • @diaveborn: That's just a rumour right now...but if you check on the Skills page of the Encyclopedia, you'll find a listing for Bureaucratic Arts III, and one of the prerequisites for that is the Impossible Achievement...I can't imagine what we'd need BA III for other than the new housing they're talking about bringing in....I imagine there'll be permits and such we'll have to apply for etc., so the new BA III will come into play then...

  • The Impossible Achievement is also prerequisite for
    Potionmaking III

  • lol bureaucratic arts 3 will take me 16 days.
Posted 12 months ago by koolaroo Subscriber! | Permalink
  • 16 days only?  I'll trade you.  For me it's 29.

I sure hope this isn't a prerequisite for new housing because that's just slightly unfair to higher level/higher skill people.

We'd be better off starting all over.

  • I collected all the icons, so I have a faster chance at levelling up from xp gains on the icons. Then I'll be ready for the new housing and training. I like going mining, running the ancestral lands and dumping most of my currants on donations to learn quicker or cubimals.

  • That rumor has popped up in the last few days and I'm not sure I understand why.

The "General Building Permit" is already in-game and only requires Bureaucratic Arts II -- so it seems much more likely, if a permit is needed for building, that it will be the permit that's already built into the game that claims it permits building buildings.  And doesn't require Bureaucratic Arts III.

    Back to the OP:

Collections, social events, hanging with friends.

That's what I come to the game for still, and I've likely been playing a bit longer than you.  Right now, I am working toward---for the second time actually---purchasing 100 cubimal boxes at once.  I'm also stockpiling materials I suspect will have more uses when The Big Update comes.

  • I'm level 34 and only *just* got into farming really, so all those other levels I was doing stuff that wasn't farming.  If that gives you any indication of how much time you can spend doing other stuff.  ^_^

  • And don't forget how much fun it can be to trade with other players!  And it doesn't have to be stuff you need or can use, just trading for the fun of it is great.  ^_^  Sometimes it's nice to trade so you're giving away stuff *other* people can use, and then you can trade a few more times and get other stuff you didn't know you even wanted, like piles of sapphires or DIAMONDS even.  ^_~

  • I'm actually pretty sick of farming myself.  Given the amount of food floating around in the game I think that at some point I may unlearn all my cooking and farming skills and try to get by with food I purchase at auction with money made some other way.

Don't see how. We've all known all along that new skills would be coming in all the time; there are at least 30 new ones planned out so far. Certain skills will be required for group halls, it makes sense that the same *might* apply to the new housing system.

  • Well, you can change your gameplay or impose limits upon yourself. Try giving out all your possessions and live as a poor Glitch, then see how fast you can get rich again. Or try purchasing another home that doesn't have a garden and see if you can live without gardening. Or get a key to a house that doesn't have a garden. Or if you're filthy rich already, try purchasing new homes every now and then and discover the advantages and disadvantages of each house type. Or find a group which assigns things to do in-game. Or form a group. Or try making a business. I think I can could go on and on here.... There's more to Glitch life than getting achievements....

  • their are 2 sides of the argument it seems, those who make their own game within the game, using their imagination, and those who need EVERYTHING laid out in front of them, like 1,2,3.

oh and theirs those in the middle, like me. sometimes I do my own strange things, sometimes I play by numbers. I still think their should be more ways to cause conflict, although the tree wars and community garden wars are pretty funny.

There's a big difference between adding new skills - and adding new skills that severely penalize experienced players.  Distilling and Potion-making were brought in with a level playing field.  Everyone had the same chance to "get it quick".

But, in order for me to get to "Unlearning", I have to wait nearly a month for BL V.  Yeah, that's really my fault for not understanding that BL V would somehow be required in the future in order to take "Unlearning".   *smacks forehead*.

  • I cannot imagine that the new housing will require BA3. If you have every skill in the game, as I do, it will take 28d4h to get. Do you really think that, if there is a complete overhaul of the housing system (forcing us to move because the current houses are obselete), they'll make us hang out a month without houses? You know tiny speck, they're not cruel or evil :)
Posted 12 months ago by Vera Strange Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yea, I doubt BA3 will be required for owning a house or even some of the upgrades, but someday it might play into other upgrades that can be done to a house. Though at that point, you may be able to buy BA3 level permits from people with it, instead of learning it yourself.

  • I don't see how getting BLV will take nearly a month.  I have every skill except Mining IV and it's only taking me 20 days.

If you start now, you might even be able to have everything learned before the new skills are released.
