Community Project:Key Dumping Grounds

I decided to turn keywot whot in callopee a key dumping grounds. A one stop street for collecting keys!
Right now...im collecting keys. Once i have collected 10 i will dump them all throughout the street...including the coveted teal white triangle key! I encourage other players to help me in my endeavors by dropping unwanted keys/keys they wish to donate.

EDIT:My first grand key dropping may be over, but i will continue to drop bunches of keys until keywhot whot becomes established  as a key dumping grounds.

  • This sounds good to me.  I have dozens of keys that I don't know what to do with...so I will be there to help with this project.

    Good idea, thanks.  :-)

  • My goal is to establish it as a known place to get keys and drop unwanted keys. Also a place for generous glitchens to donate keys.

  • That's a great idea, I will try to stop by with some.

  • I would glaldly dump my keys if I thought they would be picked up by deserving individuals. But I am sure that any keys I dumped would be more likely to be picked up by someone hoarding them to sell at auction.

    I am a cynic. :(

  • I too feel like the second those keys hit the ground some greedy hoarder is going to vacuum them up as fast as possible. You would be far better off in your efforts just to drop a single key on random streets. At least then someone deserving might get one.

I applaud you for you "Take a penny. Leave a penny" style idea. But I just feel that it will be treated more like an unsupervised bowl of candy on a porch during Halloween, sure the sign says "Please take one" but as soon as the first greedy unethical person gets there that bowl is empty.

  • A one-per-player picnic blanket might work well for this kind of thing.

  • Sadly, I agree with TRB4....good idea, but might not be so good in practice.

Perhaps set up a party space for key exchanges/swaps?

  • I agree with Gist, TRB4, and Blogkitten.

People won't even take care of wood trees that are planted for others or pigs that are made/put into public pens.

(Sorry, feeling a bit gripey today...seems like every time I attempt to help the "public", some asshats ruin it for everyone...)

  • sometimes I wonder if the people mass-selling at auction even make their money back from all the listing fees from expired auctions. especially with massive numbers of keys. Aren't keys usually a one-off purchase from the point of view of the buyer, to do the completist badge? Except maybe teal white. I know I've hoarded keys and never done a thing with them. I certainly don't think they're worth selling (not to me anyway).

I have never been to keywhot whot but I will be heading there my next ingame with my stash of assorted keys! Where specifically should we dump them? Do we perhaps need to put notes down so people know what we're doing?

  • I actually thought about the greedy people. we can thwart them by not dropping all the keys at once/in the same place and also withhelding keys until that greedy person leaves.

I will be dropping a grand total of 12 keys starting in less then 2 mins!

  • In the spirit of this, since I don't have a computer with me at the moment, I will be dropping my random hoarde of keys around Ur. I think it is a great idea, and do worry about the more greedy Glichen. Perhaps holding it at a more remote place so the likelihood of people accidentally stumbling on what they might assume is a free-for-all is lessened.

    Great idea!

  • Personally, I think my "Hand a Newbie a Key" program will spread the most love.
