Glitch in stereo 3d

Having fun with snapshotting
The pics above can be seen in "3d" without glasses using the cross-eyed technique
Just concentrate on a single point, for example the hot-looking guy in the middle (that's me),
and try to converge the two images in a single one.
Hiding the right picture from your right eye, and the left from your left eye may help at the beginning.
PS: I want this for Snapshotting II

  • It wouldn't be too hard to print those and fit them into one of those old timey stereo viewers.

  • That's fantastic!

I'm not sure whether it's because my monitor's really big, my eyes are too far away or my eye muscles aren't as strong as they used to be, but I had to shrink the images down a bit before the effect kicked in. But if you can't see it, it's worth the effort. Nice job.

  • Neat idea. I borrowed it and with the help of an nVidia site added a little twist. It might only work if you have an nVidia graphics card, but here's the result: photos.3dvisionlive.com/too...

It works better if you have a 3D display, but it can display it for use with red-blue glasses if you have them. Seems to work best when the two images are quite close together, as the further apart they get the harder it is to get your eyes to focus on the image. But it seems to work decently with the game's parallax effects.

  • Lemo, very cool!!  Took me a few seconds to "focus" with crossed eyes, but then I saw it!  :D

  • @Anaglyph lol no wonder you're posting here with a name like that :p
you need their 3d glasses indeed for "3d vision", and about red/blue glasses, I never really liked the color loss you get
Btw another site with pretty neat examples, and crossed-eye option here

  • @Lemo

Yeah, you caught me out. I do like 3D quite a bit, and I have a 3D display and glasses. It does work very well with those. I hadn't thought to try taking two pictures like that before, so it was a good idea. The colours do look a bit off with red-blue glasses, but if you have a pair handy it's a bit easier than crossing your eyes sometimes.

Phereo is the same plugin they use on the nVidia site, although they have side-by-side and wiggle options there too. I hadn't seen the galleries there actually so I'll probably give them a look. You can probably upload your shots to there too, as you can upload two separate images and let people view them with whatever method works best. It seems to work better if the left and right images are closer together, as there's less flat image either side that can confuse the eye.

  • It was cool when i did it because my eyes would focus on a different You every time, and when i went crosseyed, i saw 4 of you. So it made it look like you were walking down the street in 3d!!! LOL

  •  @CDOG Ha! Never had any luck with those when I was a kid
for me this kind is a lot harder to focus, I guess everyone see the world differently :p
thx for posting the link, I think I get it now :]

  • This is cool ... I don't usually have any trouble getting this kind of image to "snap" into focus, but for some reason although I can get these images to overlap, they don't "snap" and I get only the slightest sense of depth when they are overlapping properly.

I wonder if you might try messing with different perspective differences in your screen shots?

But it's a super cool idea!!!!
