SAVE THE WATER: irrigator and watering can should/could be refilled.

Maybe some people will hate this idea, because it will complicate a bit more the game. BUT:
Water is a precious thing in our days. The NEW gold, the Blue Gold and it should be valorized and protected.
I sugest that the water can be collected somewhere and used in our limited irrigators and watering cans.
How to implement? Some simple way, here are the "maybes":

Maybe something frequent to be find, so frequent as the mail boxes. Maybe something as Water Wells spread around.
Maybe we wouldn't need them everywhere. Maybe we could have one in our houses, and maybe also one in each community garden.

This would be to fill and refill the irrigator and water can to use on our crops. But as one alternative possibility I was also thinking about recipients to storage the water at home and/or to sell, or trade, as any other thing, on the auctions, etc.

Finally I would like to clarify that this is not one attempt to mimic anything we have in RL (because some might understand as that) and rather both for the pleasure of playing (adding this feature - collecting water, etc), and to put more in evidence some vital resource for life as this. Each day more and more precious...

Think about it!

EDIT: "Thanks for telling me about the wonderful and mighty tinkertool. I know very well how to use a tinkertool. Do you too? Tinkertool repairs the tools, doesn't refill water (at least shouldn't)."

EDIT2: Nobody likes it so.... just forget about it! :)

  • You can refill your watering can using a tinkertool. It's very handy, the tinkertool.

  • I agree with Adorale. What you're proposing is just one more thing to grind out. There is already more than enough grinding in this game.

  • Dear Adoralie and Billy McBlinky,
Thanks for telling me about the wonderful and mighty tinkertool. I know very well how to use a tinkertool. Do you too? Tinkertool repairs the tools, doesn't refill water (at least shouldn't). ;)
I started to say that this would be exactly, using your words, "one more thing to grind out". But I if you read everything (you should), I carefully pointed all the reasons why this worth to be implemented. Beside if you aren't happy with the whole "grindding" process then better stop playing, right? The game is full of small tasks in order to achieve certain goals. The new potions are a good example.

  • Glitch is a game of abundance. No Glitch need ever starve or lack for the basic necessities—or indeed be unable to have the wherewithal to prosper. It is NOT a game of scarcity: the only things in short supply are 'rarities' or things which require higher levels of skill to create, and they are not necessary for the enjoyment of the game.

You can't have it both ways: you say your proposal is not intended to mimic the RL shortage of usable water, but base your entire argument on reminding players of the preciousness of water in RL.

Furthermore, the potions are NOT a good example of something that has to be grinded out. They are purely "value added" luxury goods.

It's not a matter of failing to read your proposal carefully, it's a matter of disagreeing with your proposal.

  • We are all players and all people in RL. These things ether you like it or not are indissociable. We could therefore argue, that everything in this game is mimicked.
In real life i have this concerns about water, but that doesn't mean that I am unaware that this is "just a game".
This is just one proposal, and in my opinion it adds fun to the game. And that's the only reason I put it here - FUN - nothing else. You, of course,  are free to disagree. As I said before I understand that you might not finding it fun.

EDIT: by the way potions were mentioned as one example, like any other (I used it simply because it was the first example that crossed my mind). If you think they are no a bad example you are wrong. In the logic of the game happens the same exact thing as when you want to make flour or cheese (just think/remember what are all the other steps before).

  • I've played other games where I had to refill in order to water plots/garden and it was such a humbug. It added more frustration to my game play and I didn't enjoy it. Not having to refill watering cans is one thing I really LOVE about glitch.

So to sum up: refilling water cans would *not* add any more fun to my gameplay and therefore I award this idea with a -1(00).

  • Sounds like a waste of game time. No thanks this idea.

  • We as human plain beans (beings*) ;) prefer simplicity. That's our nature.
I am sure that if you would have this since the beginning of the game you wouldn't even consider it "abnormal". It's just a question of something more to do (something you haven't done before and not that you don't wanna change). You call this way more practical as I can call it more lazy.
You should stop and think that the nature this game is getting more and more complex, and your conservative views (at least as you explained them - about fun and changing what's "fun") are just the opposite.
At this time is pointless to continue the discussion about something to add in this game. You simply don't like it and, you are also users as I am, having the same rights of opinion.
Even though I see them as limitations, I understand your points of view and I have nothing else to add. The idea dies here.
Let me, therefore, agree with you in keeping it as it is now: magic unlimited water refiled in our irrigators.
Anyway thanks for coming, for reading about the idea and sharing your opinion.
    Hugs to you all.

  • Last I checked, I wasn't a bean..lol

I don't know why you seem so offended by other people voicing their opinion *shrugs*

  • lol human beans?

Anyways it is your opinion but it seems you only have yourself in mind. You say "pleasure of playing" but I think most of us would probably disagree. If this was added I think I'd probably garden a lot less.

  • Lol, Thanks for the correction. :)
I am not En native speaker and that was a misspelling.  Sorry about that! :)
    @Chants, I am/was not offended.
@Vinchon, "If this was added I think I'd probably garden a lot less" -  you're right, but you can't know if "a lot less" (neither me). All depends in how much it would worth to do it, and we haven't experienced that yet. Anyway you are much probably also right about the rest, probably is something only mine. It is something i even like to do in RL. In my childhood I remember to help many times my mom to collect water from the well for watering the plants. It was nice.
Anyway, either people (me and you) like it or not Glitch will, in a general way, go towards to complexity and not the other way around.

  • lol wait so now we are beams? I think you meant "beings". You should just leave it as beans anyways because I found it extremely funny xD

    thanks

  • I appreciate the creativity and thought you put into your idea, but I personally would not enjoy having to seek out water to refill my watering can.
