Organizing friends, following forum threads

I would love a way to organize my friends - I am starting to have a hard time remembering whom I friended because they were helpful on a street-building project, whom I friended because they indicated they live near me IRL, etc...

I would also love a way to follow or flag threads I am involved or interested in.  I know I have lost track of conversations because of the purely sequential way threads are presented.

  • I too would like to organize friends.  If I had known that it would be sorted based on who you friended when, I probably would have friended my BFF in game first so she got the place of honor on my list.  I have other friends that I know have not really played much at all lately and I'd like to move them further down the ladder.  And yes, being able to categorize friends would be nice - neighbors, projects, cool forum posts, etc.

  • Not sure this is totally related, but I did a post on some similar friend-related things here... And I agree totally. Categorizing would be great! Would love to see most popular threads/topics stickied, too. Actually, in groups I wish there was a way to delete no longer relevant threads (the administrators really ought to have that ability). I'm wandering, sorry :)

  • Stickies would be a welcome addition as they are helpful "place markers" imho.  I know they would help me find my way back to threads that I have either contributed to or at least am interested in following.. trees in the forest so to speak :)  But "stickies" implies some kind of Mod functionality and there seems to be not only a complete paucity of but an (un)intentional lack of this capacity in the forums as they currently exist..  Is the idea of Mods in the forums too anti-anarchistic or is it just that the forum choices to date are (for the short term) developmentally limited in scope.. i.e. "General, Bugs & Ideas" and have yet to be expanded upon?  I'm absolutely certain that there are many many contributors in the forums that would "jump at the chance" to be Mods if that were an option.

  • I think the forum and discussion boards are probably the last one to be looked at, as I think it usually is (but I could be wrong), but for this game I think the forum and discussion boards are very important as well because of the social aspect. Therefor I hope it will be sparkled up a bit.

    Forumwise, I'd like
    +  a "show all unread posts" button;
    + a possiblitiy to subscribe to a post;
    + a possiblity to see a post in which I replied or which I have started has gotten a new reply.
    + More formatting options, like proper listing (bullets).
    + Possibility for group owners/moderators to make stickies.

    Friends:
    + MSN wise, or categories as mentioned above.
    + Be able to add a note to a friend

    Groups:
    + See when a new post has been made in a group, so when I go to my groups homepage I can see there is activity in a group without having to open the discussion board. I think many groups die out because of people not seeing some new action happened in the group.
    - I don't want threads to be deletable, as it's not only your own text you delete, but everyone who replied in it. Doesn't matter if it's no longer relevant, some people might need it for reference. I like the next option better:
    + Group owners/moderators can close threads.

  • Group owners should be able to delete any thread in their group that they want to.  Why would you want spammers and griefers to be able to do permanent damage in groups?
