So...... Do we have a log that shows us how close we are to getting an achievement? And if not, could we get one? Just wondering, and if this should be in ideas, Sorry!
Want this.
And if I'm going to be perfectly honest I want an update on the achievements page too. I don't mind some being hidden, but having achievements we can no longer attain on the page is a bit of a pain. Plus we need new achievements to go with the new tools and toys.
While I suppose the majority of glitchen want this, I think it would eliminate one of the fun aspects of Glitch. Once you could see how far you were toward each achievement you would be drawn to planning out each one carefully and knowing just when you were getting close. This would be the end of that happy moment when, while working away on something, suddenly an unexpected achievement pops up to gladden your day. I say, let's leave a few mysteries be.
I completely agree with Hawkwell - I preferred the unexpectedness of most of my achievements compared with knowing (approximately) when I was going to get my subway badge.
Since some people really seem to want this and some really don't, I'd say tie it to an upgrade card somehow. Then if want the mystery of when you'll get your next achievement, just don't buy it.
I am not too fussed about getting something to say how many more of x we need to complete before we get said achievement. As Hawkwell stated, it would sap the fun and randomness out of getting a badge. I am more interested in just getting new skills, quests and achievements.
I prefer not having the numbers. One of the best things about Glitch is their focus on cooperative rather than competitive behavior. Many people are so well socialized by our competitive society that they see high numbers as a measure of their value to society, Feeding into this competitive focus so that people make the game all about numbers would be a step away from the cooperative way the game is currently designed.
And yet we already have a number on our profile that says how many achievements we've completed. That seems more likely to by used in a competitive fashion and yet we all seem to be fine :)
I generally don't mind knowing how close I am to an achievement I'm working towards, but damn if I wouldn't spend credits to know how close I am to Bounder, Tenured, the 111,111 leaps badge. I've been playing since the game launched, and I play a lot, and I still haven't gotten that damn badge.
