Will our money be refunded?

So once this new housing thing comes around, everyone's old house is supposedly getting removed and everyone gets a new house that is exactly the same for everyone. So I'm wondering if we will get our currants back once they take away our property because you know the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution....lol
So once our property is taken away, is our money going to be 100% refunded? Or not refunded at all?
Because they seized our property without our consent and they should give us a better repayment.

  • Maybe they'll tell us before and maybe we will have to pick up our stuff and sell it.

I don't really care though. 50k is not much, besides the new housing system will surely be awesome.

  • They're giving us a percentage of house value in a form of credit.

And I think the Constitutional thing was a joke. I think.

  • From the Q&A:

Q: Once the new housing is introduced, what steps will current users need to take to acquire a house and what steps will new users need to take to acquire a house?
A: Existing users will go through a tutorial/explain-y transition process to move from their old to new houses the first time they log in after we make the switch. You will get some form or "credit" for the price of your old house, translated into the new system. New users will get a starter house as part of the initial tutorial.

Q: Please tell me we'll get a warning *before* the house is swept out from under us!
A: You don't need to worry about moving your stuff — that will all be automatic.

  • Can't tell if this is a troll, or...someone's just practicing their Constitutional right to be obtuse.
    I mean, we WERE warned.

  • Gimmie dat fif.

  • @Crashtestpilot - it's not about being warned (or consent for that matter), it's about compensation.

5th Amendment:  No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

And yes, I certainly think it looks like we will get credit(s) based on our current house size/price.

Oh, and good on AwesomeCardinal2000 for knowing their Constitution.  :-)

  • Houses in an internet game aren't your private property, especially when you haven't paid any real money to acquire them. Whether or not you are joking, I am exercising my constitutional right to be furious about everything you say.

  • No, kastlin.  Check the TOS for this and for basically any online game you'll ever sign up for.

  • I can totally see this developing into a full on row about the TOS...

  • TS is a Canadian company if I remember.  They have no obligation to honor the US Constitution.

Now, if that damn SOPA had been passed into law - you could report them for being unamerican.

(that is all a joke for those who can't see my face)

  • @Kookaburra - You can still report them for being un-American- "see something, say something", after all... whatever that something is or isn't.

    But I digress lol.

Okay, I get that the fifth amendment part was a joke, but I'm not sure whether to laugh or despair over the above line.

  • I'm not sure TS is a Canadian company.  It's more of an American company that wears a Canadian Flag patch on it's backpack.
Posted 10 months ago by Kalstept Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Whether TS is a US or Canadian company, and even where it is based is totally irrelevant. Our properties are all in Ur and Ur doesn't bow to any law/constitution in the US, Canada or indeed any other country on Earth.

    Ur rules rool!

  • No, they will capriciously take everything away and force you go earn it all again, just like despots always have.
Posted 10 months ago by Janitch Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The fifth amendment refers to the government taking property, not a private company taking virtual property.
Just in case that constitution part wasn't a joke.
Also, stoot did say we will be compensated.

  • Stoot will reset and everyone but him will only have stinger shirts and warm grey shorties and there will be economic Uranism.
    Stoot is a bloody Urrie.

  • Besides you can't call a Canadian un-American because they are Americans.  Just North Americans, not USA type idiot Americans who insist on rights but shirk responsibilities....OOPS I said something serious.  Sorry about that. (^_^)

  • Thats if the giants even considered real life constitutional stuff, they have been busy thinking up glitch and I am sure they are trying to think of the smoothest way of doing it because giants dont like paperwork, except if it is numbered, then maybe tii but mostly they dont want extra work.

  • I agree. wow.

I'm quite certain fingers could be pointed at every country/culture in the world and ridiculous generalizations could be made about the populace of said cultures and countries. What I don't understand is why anyone would feel the need to do so. Especially here.

  • Audaria, if (giants forbid) that you and others are upset with housing upgrades and the new system, or things before launch... I hope you guys get a refund. IMO it would make sense, not a full refund (just a refund up of things that would fall after the changes), but it would be rationalized. But I hope that I can assure you that we all will like the new change. :)

    @Yousei What Audaria said.

  • Thanks Rook...although I didn't say anything in this thread about wanting a refund or expecting to be disappointed with the housing, so I'm a little confused about your comment here. I'm actually really looking forward to the housing (it's some of the other changes that concern me) and I remember there being some mention of compensation for the value of the houses we currently own. So, I had nothing to say about the OP.
