Party food

I'm sure we've all experienced this before.  We're at a glitch'n party that someone has so graciously organized and along comes a social reject, picking up all the food and drink items on the floor.  Ok, no big deal.  We'll just make some more.  Ah, but therein lies the rub.  You've already spent energy to make the first batch.  Now you have to spend more energy to make another batch because someone missed the lesson on sharing in Kindergarten.

Solution: Party food!  What if there were certain food items that had no benefit (no energy or mood gains) and cost no energy to make?  That way, regardless of how many greedy glitchens snuck their way in, their sticky fingers are no longer an issue, because you can make more party food on the fly.

  • Ooo, or what if the party food DID have a benefit, but only for the duration of the party? (The "duration" could be until you left the street or house you're currently in.)

You'd keep your mood and energy up while you were partying (like ya do...!), but return to whatever levels you were at beforehand when it's over.

  • Hmm, I still like the picnic basket/buffet table idea, where food and drinks are parceled out over time to guests with a debuff to prevent greedy sociopaths from stealing the lot.

I largely use my orb to re-energize while out in the world, and I like to tuck a few humbabas away to grind at home. Though I'm far more likely to drop food than take it, I appreciate knowing that I can bring some party items home and use them post-festivities.

I 100% agree that party food should be for personal use, not hoarded and donated or sold. That's really against the spirit of a party. Imagine doing that IRL - you attend a feté and then the hostess sees you a few blocks away selling her punchbowl out of the back of a truck!  :/

  • +1 to picnic basket/blanket/table.  I was thinking about this - there could be two actions available - share ("Donate") and eat ("Partake".)  If you select donate you can donate what you choose.  If you select partake, a similar menu comes up with the item's contents, of which you can take one of each without reopening the menu.  Upon closing the menu, there is a picnic basket debuff for 2 minutes. An alternative to this would be allowing the user to eat one item of each kind of thing directly out of the basket, but not to take it.

Pie in the sky idea: you could make a Fancy Picnic Basket.  There'd be two sections to it - meals and ingredients.  Meals works as described above, but if you select ingredients you get the options to "Donate" or to "Use," the latter of which opens a menu with ingredients people have donated.  If you make a meal with the ingredients menu open you can use both items from your inventory and the ingredients menu, and the created items (meals) are automatically sent to the meals section of the picnic basket.  That part is totally probably way too hard to code, but it would be Super Fancy.

  • Epilady, what sort of debuff did you have in mind?  You mean something like this?  Limit pick up action to 1 item per glitchen, with a cooldown.

  • I'm a generous sort...I'd debuff so a glitch could take one of each item in the basket, but not more, for about 5 minutes. That would be sufficient for noobs and poor glitches just passing through to partake of a generous treat, and enough for party attendees to get lots of goodies...but enough to prevent the antisocial among us from raining on a party by grinching the grinch out.

For me, it was never about the "OMG YOU TOOK OUR STUFFS" and all about the "wait, we worked hard to make this, and what about everybody else?" It just seems malicious, small, and crappy if someone takes 25-40 party food and drinks. What is that even about??? It hurts my glitchy heart.

  • Picnic stuff is a great idea +1

  • I like the picnic stuff idea. To avoid the problem altogether, however, add NPCs which can dole out treats at a measured pace or enough to raise a particular Glitch's energy and mood up to 100% twice. You're there to socialize and party, not play bartender, chef or caterer, amirite?

Perhaps a bartender NPC, chef / caterer NPC and/or a party favor NPC could be available for parties, each of which can be visited a certain number of times (with the person paying for the event getting one or two extra turns per NPC), and each of which will randomly offer a high-level food, drink or entertainment/toy item when you click on them for service.
