  • Oooooh gambling!
I'll roll my own dice first to see which 5 names come up....;)

  • To new players: You can trust Lord Bacon-o, he will not run off with you money. He's been around a while here and has a good reputation.

If he does, he'll be splanked and garlickissed though. It kinda makes me want him to run off with the cash ;)

edit: To be able to mail Lord Bacon-o you must first add him to your friendslist.

  • One (minor) criticism:

    "78.5%"

You really should have gone for 79% - that would have been much more in keeping...

  • His rounder needs some tinkering.

  • Someone already did something like this, but cute to see the idea pop up again

  • "You really should have gone for 79% - that would have been much more in keeping..."

I know! That was my first thought. But between mailing tickets and paper and mailing prizes... I wanted that extra half percent wiggle room.

  • Ok Lord, sent money for 5 tickets:) Glad this is happening again, if it goes well you should try and make this a regular thing. If you need help, I'd be glad to:)

Have you hought about making a Lottery of Ur group?

  • There are 4368 ticket combinations... how many lottery players to you expect to get?
Posted 15 months ago by Fleck Subscriber! | Permalink
  • "how many lottery players to you expect to get?"

    No idea.

Currently 7 tickets have been sold. Which means the prize money is up to a massive 550 currants! (I will be rounding up.)

  • Do you have to be present for the draw?
Posted 15 months ago by anonymoose Subscriber! | Permalink
  • "Do you have to be present for the draw?"

You do not. I will immediately post the winning "numbers" here. BUT you must get your winning ticket to me by Sunday, Oct 9th.
Posted 15 months ago by Lord Bacon-o Subscriber! | Permalink
  • People who have already bought tickets: I wasn't thinking and meant to send you physical notes... but didn't. You will get your REAL tickets soon. Sorry for the confusion.
Posted 15 months ago by Lord Bacon-o Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I think the "public" draw is to hold himself accountable and to prove he's not trying to weasel money out of anyone. It would otherwise be far too easy for him to keep all the money and say "Yeah...sorry guys. I definitely rolled 5 Spriggans, and none of you picked that. So..."

He's much better than that. :)

  • You guys are awesome!

Exactly right. I got the idea when saw that the dice "announces" to everyone what you roll.
It would still be easy for me to cheat people. "Oh, turns out that there were 712 winners. Your share is 3 currants. Please play again."

But I wouldn't do that. ELBOW GREASE! Grease you can trust!

Prize money is up to 2041 currants.

  • How do we mail the winning ticket back? When I sent my message, I don't have any record of it (or am I missing something?)
Posted 15 months ago by DrSteve Subscriber! | Permalink
  • So you'll roll the die 5 times? Meaning repeats are allowed (like Tii, Tii, Rook, Rook, Grendaline would be valid)?
Posted 15 months ago by Blitz Subscriber! | Permalink
  • "How do we mail the winning ticket back? When I sent my message, I don't have any record of it (or am I missing something?)"

I will mail you a ticket (which is just a note - piece of paper - with your picks). To claim the prize, you have to send that to me after the winners are rolled.

But, yes, when you send me your message with your currants, you are trusting me to send you a ticket back. (If you have not received a reply yet, you will soon. This is time consuming and I'm also playing. *Grin*)

"So you'll roll the die 5 times? Meaning repeats are allowed (like Tii, Tii, Rook, Rook, Grendaline would be valid)?"

Yes. you are correct. Order is not but repeats are completely possible.

  • TKT - great link. I will hereby publicly announce my geekiness. I have a master's degree in statistics. I will be entering this lottery as soon as I can get into the game (at work, no flash games, sigh). Do what I say, not what I do.
Posted 15 months ago by Kookaburra Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Kookaburra, welcome to the club. We've been waiting patiently for your arrival. I hope this goes somewhere where the GNB failed. Also, the rules of the lottery should state that we should say the prize amount is a Nonillion, regardless of the real amount.
Posted 15 months ago by That Kid Tyler Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Prize money is up to 3611.
    Which still means horrible odds!

  • Will the drawing be occurring at 10 in the morning or evening (a.k.a. 22:00)? I want to assume that it means morning, but either way is an inconvenient time for me, unfortunately. I know lotteries are a waste of money from a logical standpoint, but I can't resist the fun of a social gathering. Is there any chance that subsequent lotteries will take place at various times, or maybe on weekends? Also, thanks Lord Bacon-o; this is a really cool idea (if not profitable :P)!
Posted 15 months ago by Vexia Subscriber! | Permalink
  • This looks amazing, I hope I can find some time to get into the game and submit my lottery giants today.. one question Lord Bacon-o, what happens if there is no winner? Does the money get rolled over to the next lottery?

ETA: Whoops, totally missed the final clause. Ignore me :P

  • "Will the drawing be occurring at 10 in the morning or evening (a.k.a. 22:00)?"

Yes morning. And it is total bummer. Main reason I chose that time is that it will be one seek since launch. And I had to choose SOME time.

  • "Tuesday, Oct. 5th at 10:00 PST"
I have Tuesday as Oct 4th or have I time traveled to the wrong year again?

" You will then have until Sunday, Oct 9th, to mail winning ticket"
sounds like we do not need to be present for the drawing to win--aka call in sick
Posted 15 months ago by Artilect Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'm totally going to win this. I can feel the giants are on my side...
Posted 15 months ago by dopiaza Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Ack! You are correct. TUESDAY IS OCT. 4th!

(Drawing is on the 4th and I am correcting the original post. HOWEVER, all tickets are still going to be marked with the 5th.)

Prize money is up to 14,209 currants.
Posted 15 months ago by Lord Bacon-o Subscriber! | Permalink
  • No dopiaza, I am going to win.

I told Lord Bacon-o so when I sent in my picks.
Posted 15 months ago by Kookaburra Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Prize update: 22,373 currants.
Posted 15 months ago by Lord Bacon-o Subscriber! | Permalink
  • What was the name of the guy who's doing this again?

P.S. I'm totally going to win this. SUCKERS!

Posted 15 months ago by Gar Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Curious about where the prize money is at?

    55,735 currants.

(Man, I hope I don't get mugged with all this cash on me.)
