But anyway, yeah, loved it!!! How about you guys? I know I'm definitely not the only one here who's seen it, lol.

  • Just got back from seeing it Cerulean. Thought it was great. Poor Severus, nice to see his story and love Alan Rickman. Only thing missing was new John Williams music.

I started crying at the preview for "War Horse" and totally soaked my tissue drying my eyes during the movie.

  • **SPOILERS**

Yeah, th scene with Severus and Nagini was awful because it was done so well. Everyone in the theater cringed, gasped, cried, etc. I felt a heaviness in my gut and I cried, lmao. I'm really glad they told his story like they did in the book. I was afraid they might cut too much of it out.

  • I'm so sad the movies are over now, but maybe someone will write a book about it or something!

  • YES! So good, you don't even need to be an HP fan to appreciate gorgeous cinematography. I was so happy with The Prince's Tale chapter especially(!), and of course his death scene--surprisingly great adaptations from the book all throughout! It's a must-see.

  • I have been the biggest Harry Potter fan since the first book came out, I have gone to the midnight release of every book as well as the midnight release of every single movie.

I was disappointed.  It was not sad enough.  I cried, but not as much as I cried during 6, or the first part of 7.  They completely glazed over some of the more important deaths/character losses.  I also felt like the ending was a tacky add-on

    EDIT: Alan Rickman is INCREDIBLE

  • I didn't read the responses cause of spoilers:) but I am going tomorrow night! Dying to see it:) I'm sure it won't live up to the book (they never have at all), but I know I'll enjoy it anyway!

  • I still have to finish reading the book :D

The movie was very well done. There were very few slow parts, and very few really scary parts. I thought it was a nice conclusion to the story.

  • I'm behind 4 or 5 books should I catch up before going to  the movies or just rent all of them and make a day of it?

  • My friends told me WEEKS ago that I was going with them to the midnight premier of this movie. I have never read the books or even seen the movies as a matter of becoming involved in this series until recently. I now can say, though, that I am so pleased that I am now a part of a wonderful group of fans of such an amazing series.

This movie was simply amazing, and I can't see how they could have made it any better. Two thumbs up from this guy.

  • Julie - the movies have each left SO much of the books out... if you just watch the movies then your HP experience is going to be seriously lacking. There's only so much they can include in 150 minutes of flashy explosions.

But, having said that, the new movie was excellent [I'm just back from watching it at IMAX... missed the end of the test for it] and well worth seeing in the cinema. My recommended plan of action would be:
     - watch all the movies over the next week or two
     - go see this one on the big screen
     - come home and read all the books

There's definitely enough material in the books to make them worth reading after you've seen the flashy bits in the movies. Lots of back story, lots of explanations.

  • I saw it at midnight, was very fun. Went with family, minus two little sisters, and some friends :)

  • The books are far better than the movies, far far better, but I still enjoy the movies:)

  • I agree w/Rascalmom, the books are so much better than the movies, but I do enjoy watching the DVDs. I have read the books but also listened to the audio versions and highly recommend them. Jim Dale has an incredible voice and really brings the books to life. I guess maybe it's time to listen to them again while I'm knitting.

  • It hardly ever happens when a movie adaption of a movie is better then the book.
I thought it was the best one so far except, the ending which JK Rowling's version was much better. I agree with the people who say snapes memory is good.

  • Just got back from it! Definitely was the best one of the movies. Frankly, I thought all of the ones David Yates directed (Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince and both Deathly Hallows ones) were far better than the first four. I feel he did a much better job in keeping to the books and that his storyline changes were less drastic and unnecessary than the films that went before. Of course books are nearly always better (one exception for me: the first Bridget Jones movie, while different from the book, I thought was at least as good). My problem with many of the Harry Potter movies is that so many of the changes and omissions were just pointless and detracted from the story (the worst offender I still think is in movie one, leaving out Hermione's scene in the potion puzzle). Even some small changes seemed so stupid sometimes ;) In any case, this one was quite well-done!

  • I just saw it yesterday, I agree that they glossed over some of the important deaths, those characters deserved better. But overall, I loved it and definitely needed my hankie. Now I'm in the mood to reread it.

  • I saw it last night - was totally gripped - it's been years since I read the book...couldn't believe it's so long since I came out. I did feel that they had changed some things (were there sarky asides in the book throughout the battle scenes? [e.g. Professor McGonagall: "I've always wanted to use that spell!"] - which came across a bit odd tor me, on the other hand, we all knew who was going to win and it broke up the drama. In some of the Lord of the Rings and Narnia films the battling goes on for so long I just got a bit bored).

Generally I'm with people who like the books best but I really thought the 5th film was actually better than that particular book, which had disappointed me. Imelda Staunton as Dolores Umbridge was the best performance in any of the films, in my opinion. I also thought the 3rd film was a brilliant adaptation of the book and was really well done, and that one is probably my favourite book of the series.

  • Did anyone else notice how much Striatics character looks like Voldemort?

I hope you read this Stri, cause I wanna give a big shout out for a really cool looking Glitch that reminds me of "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named"!

  • Adding this here, since I bet you all would be interested and I think Stoot buried the lead in another thread: eventually, they plan to add POTIONMAKING to Glitch!

I am beyond excited. But I hope that it comes with the addition of buttoned black robes to the wardrobe. That will be necessary.

  • Saw it on the 15th, the day it came out. Was really good, I loved it. Even people who don't keep up with the stories were crying in some scenes and were able to follow it. I would love to see it again.
