IMPORTANT UNPACKING NOTE: Don't unpack your boxes until you read this.

If you put your moving boxes into inventory slots, you can use items in them even though you cannot see them.

Put the boxes in inventory slots.

Go to the hardware vendor and buy a construction tool.

Assuming you have rods snails and boards in your boxes, you can now make SDBs without first unpacking your boxes.

  • lol Wish I knew that when I was unpacking. I just did the two boxes first that I knew held most of my resources and it was a complete mess for a couple of hours.

  • Thanks WalruZ!!!!

I won't be able to play until the weekend...  am loving the updates and info from those that have experienced the box tornadoes!!!

I saw a pic earlier (I think from Zany) that showed a bunch of SDBs with no boxes opened up, so I was kinda thinking this was the track to follow.

So.... I can build the SDBs without unpacking everything?

    ETA:  I'm such a chickensh*t!!!!!

    Will play this weekend! :D

  • also, if you haven't unpacked your boxes, I believe that if you have one of an item in your inventory and you drag it to an SDB, the rest will be transferred from your boxes - if they're in your inventory.

  • Hope that's true WalruZ.... was reading earlier posts about click and dragging to SDBs being a bit nerfed.

  • Thanks for sharing this tip, WalruZ--should save a lot of Glitchen some time. I'm already unpacked, and I really wish I'd thought to try that!

  • My wife and I avoided the forums once the game reopened so as not to see any spoilers. We wish we'd seen this one...

  • This seems to only work selectively. For example, I could access my planks from the box, but not barnacles. And they were in the same box.

  • Thank you for this.  I had issues accessing stuff in my moving box after new day, and issues using a woodworker with stuff in my box, but this was still a really helpful warning and tip.

  • OMGiants!! That means I don't have to unpack the box with the Urth blocks before I add a second (and third) story!! YAY!!! Thanks, WalruZ!

  • NOTE: If the 'move to SBD'  trick doesn't work, drop and pick up your moving boxes.   In many cases it's actually worth it to purchase one of something from the auction house just to prime the pump.

  • This has actually worked out really well for me.  One whole floor of my old test house was nothing but veggies and ingredients.  Rather than unpack that box, I just put it in my inventory and I can cook with whatever is in it, not to mention tune bubbles, transform gas, etc, etc.  I may not unpack that box for a month or so, because I'm pretty sure that if I did it now they would have to send out search and rescue to dig me out.

  • but DON't carry the moving boxes with you when getting more stuff to "prime the pump" or it will just go into the boxes to join it's friends.
