Question: energy

I don't get this energy system. A new day starts, I play for 20 minutes, and my energy is all gone. I meditate to improve it but there is a daily limit to that, so after 10 more minutes I have no other option to wait for another day! That's stupid, I want to be able to play the game for longer than half an hour.  I know eating restores energy, but it only seems to return energy I spent getting the food/earning the currants to buy the food. Am I missing something here?

  • Increase your skills. With no Animal Kinship you're right, you will only break even if not lose energy by petting and nibbling pigs, but with the higher levels of Animal Kinship you will be getting so much meat from each pig that you can be completely dependent upon them for energy renewal. The same goes for Gardening, once you know Gardening 4 or 5 you can pretty much live off of eggs alone. So you just need some higher skills to be more self sustaining.

The other option is learn mining and then make a small fortune by mining sparkly chunks, at which time you can simply just buy all you food from the Auction Hall since currents will be the least of your worries.

  • That was helpful, thanks!

  • Just keep a couple stacks of food, either Awesome Stew if you can make it or Rich Tagine if you just want to buy it from the Meal Vendor. You get more energy out of food than you put into it (Victoria's spreadsheet proves this: http://www.glitch-strategy.com/wiki/Victoria/Foodproject). You can also drink cocktails to prevent energy drain for certain activities (Earthshaker for mining, Flaming Humbaba for grinding). I also keep a bag of emblems that I fondle obsessively once a day to regain energy.

And then when all that runs out... I log out and get real life stuff done. Like dishes. It's like a computer game that doesn't end and never awards new levels.

  • To echo what the above poster has said: the Animal Kinship and Gardening skill trees, taken to their max, will provide you with all the energy you'll ever need. Donating the surplus under the effects of EHSP will see you leveling quite often and that in turn will provide you with a much bigger energy pool.

  • Off-topic: doing the dishes does so award new levels!

On-topic: the advice here is spot on.  The short summation, for the time-challenged: learn more skills! =)

  • But be cafreful yoiu do not spend hard earned currants on food you can not benefit from. If your max energy is less than 300, Awesome Stews are not a good investment - you will probably max out before you gain the full 200 energy points. Sammiches are worth 29 energy points, but currently cost 23 currants in the auctions - a small margin but more than enough to keep you alive!

  • on this note, in order to increase your animal kinship to higher levels, you need to get the emblem of humbaba, i assume that requires offering favours?

any hints as to how to go about doing that at lower levels, ie, what kind of items i should be offering? or should i be getting intermediate admixing first for the ehsp skill?

  • Magic Monkey:  Love that site!  My roommates and I used it years ago to make the chores workable.

  • The cheapest, fastest way to your first emblem in my opinion is to:

    1) Mine 817 sparkly chunks.
    2) Sell all of them to a Tool Vendor (at Cebukul in Uralia or Level 4 East in Ilmenskie Caverns) to make 4900 Currents.
    3) Go to the Auction Hall and buy a Fairly Hallowed Shrine Powder (average price 900) and 5 Moonstones (average price 800 each).
    4) Go to the shrine of your choice and use your Fairly Hallowed Shrine Powder on the shrine then donate all 5 Moonstones.
    5) Collect your new Emblem

This process is assuming that you do not have any favor with that Giant, if you do, adjust donation accordingly. this also assumes that you only need to donate 1000 favor points to receive your emblem.

  • Or you could improve your mining and tinkering like me, and earn enough rubies to pay for meat tetrazzinis the size of a Fijian horse!

  • After a few short hours of skill training, you can be swimming in the meat and milk like the rest of us!

  • With Remote Herd Keeping and 4 meat collectors I make 240 meat literally in my sleep. That's 2400 energy with zero effort or energy spent. Also, that's 240 favor points when donated (720 favor if you use an EHSP first) Remote Herd Keeping is definitely a skill that pays for itself very very quickly.

  • TRB4, how many piggies in your yard?
Posted 14 months ago by WindBorn Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yes, you're missing something.  Some food items are more energy efficient to make than others.  Do some digging and you'll see what I mean.  Also, maybe you shouldn't wait till your energy is already depleted to start making food.  *Hint: try making full stacks of food at the start of a  new day so you have plenty of food on hand.  Lastly, just because you don't understand the way something works or it doesn't work the way you want it to, doesn't make it "stupid".
