Freaking out over losing my home.

I'm experiencing significant anticipatory separation/loss anxiety thinking about losing my home at the end of test. I'm wondering, would there be a way, as a "reward" for beta testers, to somehow reserve a home at the beginning of the game opening? In the sense that I mean, just prior to opening, could we choose a home and then get some sort of mortgage? That way we can lay claim to the homes we love, and those of us that happen to choose more expensive homes will have to work hard to get the payments in on time and will also have higher interest rates, to keep from EVERYONE claiming a nicer home... or something, lol. I feel like I'm just whining but I figured I'd propose a productive solution, though I know it's flawed in the sense that it would still give beta players a slight advantage over others... :/

And I know Glitch National Bank has thought about allowing home loans but I doubt they could offer as much as everyone who would want one would need right at the start of game! Lol.

  • Yes, I do realize I worry too much and seem to have lots of anxiety, lol.

  • Beta testers are going to start the new game on a level playing field with everyone else.  It really wouldn't be fair to let them reserve the desirable homes.

  • You are already going to have such a hyouge advantage with everything you know, Cerulean!  You will get that house back in no time...

  • I see a race coming to 50K after reset. Try not to worry, there will most likely be even more awesome houses before then in that area and others. I myself would not die if I had to go back to my last resets snooty house in Shimla, I love the Alakol houses but I miss my fishies.

ETA: I do like the idea of being able to get a loan also, with payments and interest. But that would make them go even faster.

  • Another thread addresses the same question.  There's really nothing to worry about; you already know which house you want, so you can just work hard toward that goal from day one.  No tester has any real advantage over anyone else when it comes to a reset, and brand new players don't even know how to buy houses.  Also, my guess is that they'll be adding more large homes in the future, given the instant popularity of the Alakol homes, so it'll be less likely that someone else will be competing with you for your current house.

  • Yeah, that's true. I guess we'll have to take comfort in the fact that, as other users have told me, at least we'll have the experience to know what we don't yet know, so to speak. We'll know just how to bulldoze our ways into a home, haha.

I do still think that the mortgage idea is a valid one, not specifically for beta testers but for all users in general, once the game opens. Maybe it should be available to those with Bureaucratic Arts III or even add a level IV or something?

  • I had an amusing wander through the Forums once, and it seems with every world-wipe there's 3 or 4 threads of serious panic in the months between... then another 3 or 4 more in the weeks right before. After, there's 5 or 6 posts saying people were panicked over nothing and it was really easy to get the house they wanted.

Also, I wonder if the house styles we already have are going to see some small adjustments, given the popularity of the larger Groddle and Alakol homes, and the sluggish housing market in the Shimla Mirch/Jethimadh/Chakra Phools regions. Never know when it comes to the minds of the Giants.
