I've been talking to fellow-Glitchian thatsmybot about the kind of in-game events we'd like to see (a la the Rook attacks), and the sort of meta-quests that we think would be fun inclusions. For kicks, we came up with a few ideas... and we're interested in reading about other ideas as well. Here are a couple to begin:
1) We'd love to see some kind of sickness spreading around... i.e. Glitch gets a cold. The effects could be consistent, or vary from player-to-player (capping energy recovery at 70%? tanking mood to super-frowny-face-ness?). Illness could be communicated by passing a sick player (or, like a real sickness, there could be a – say – 30% chance for acquiring a sickness from any player in an infectious stage). Certain recipes could mitigate effects, and medicines could be produced or purchased from herbs. Otherwise, the illness could run its course in a set number of game days...
2) Special visitors. Wouldn't it be neat if Spriggan showed up? Or a special representative of Lem? Or, if – in preparation for Humbaba stopping by – a massive temple had to be built? If, instead of building new streets, a project appeared requiring the work of 100 streets, 100 skills, or a minimum contribution from 100 (1000, 10,000) players? It would be fun if a grand total of 6,000,0000 favor points had to be generated at a certain shrine to a single god before some X happened – and each donor was limited to 5000 points? Competing projects would be fun as well –– Pot and Zille might each claim an awesome piece of land for this new monument, and the first to collect all X could claim the spot? New areas could be opened this way...
Admittedly these aren't very fleshed-out; they're just kind of nascent noodlings, and they're designed to get the conversation started more than to stand up to a ton of scrutiny. What ideas of unique (better, worse, weirder) game ideas do you have?
