MY BUTTERFLIES, THEY ARE GONE

I came home and two of my four chickens and ALL four of my butterflies have disappeared from my backyard. I haven't let anyone in, nothing else was taken, just....no more butterflies, and two fewer chickens.

Sure, I can go get some more, but I was very attached to Spike, Butch, Bruiser, and Ozzy (and Malou and Tetsuo the missing chickens).

Is this a thing now?

  • Chickens and butterflies have lifespans based on number of interactions. I had not heard that chickens could die while nobody was doing actions to them though, so it could easily be a bug.

If you have butterfly milkers though, that is probably what happened to your fluttery babies.

  • Oh, how sad! Are you saying I milked them to death?

  • They just had enough and ran away!

  • Could be more awkward. I'm evidently such a bad singer that I managed to SING three of my butterflies to death once.

  • It's not death... they ascend to a higher plane. No need to feel sad, just make room in your heart for some new animal friends!

  • Well, I hatched 4 new butterflies. Thanks to all who weighed in. I am still sad. Is there some way to prolong butterfly life? I know they are ephemeral creatures, but I was attached. Sigh.

  • Also, Blanky made mention in another thread that if a butterfly dies by milking, there is a chance it will drop a butterfly egg. I thought that was kinda neat:)

  • So does that mean if I never touch my butterflies they'll never die?

  • @Shine.  They do have life span..and just like Zany said it's a higher plane they ascend to.  Even if you just use a milker or nothing at all....they have a life span in your home.

  • @Muncey Ahhh... that probably explains why I found 10 butterfly eggs in my pen yesterday!

  • It could be something completely different though.

  • I have seen two butterflies exit in a puff of pink powder!  Sad but pretty!

My pet ones left me 10 eggs once when they ceased to be, but since then it has just been milk!

I now hatch new ones and give them the same names, about 4th generation by now I would think.

  • @Jolycan- you should add numbers so  you can see how many generations you've gone through! (e.g. Flapper IV, Blooby XXIX :)

  • Sigh... I had 20 butterflies and all they ever left me was milk bottles when they poofed. 8(  No more little butterflies at my house.
