"Lock" option

Would like to add the following verb to Collectors, Stills, Icons, Gnomes, trees in my front yard, Machines, and pretty much everything (those would be highest priority for me).

"Lock" -- same as "Drop", but I'll be the only one who can pick up / poison the item (alternatively, brings up a menu asking "Lock to you, your keyholders, or your friends"?)

Verb works on my street, my house, and my backyard, at least. Also, in group locations, but there can be overridden by other group members as appropriate (or "group members" added to the above list as default).

Lock should not be the default action.

  • this idea, in various forms in various threads, seems to be one of the most discussed topics at the moment.

Which ever option is eventually implemented (IF it is implemented) will be be a great improvement IMO.

And just FYI, you can already put your Stills, Icons, Animal Sticks and Gnomes in your front yard and they can not be taken.

  • FRONT YARD???? That is a public place. Wel, maybe gnomes because they are in the original houses, but nothing else.

  • Again, it is not a public space.  I am not sure why people think this.  Your street is a semi-private street that you have controls over.

Also, this is beta.  If my /home street says "Innie's Home Street, owned by Innie" that sums it up. That means its MY street, and the stuff on it is MINE.   I should have more permissions to allow whether something can be picked up, or not.  Or where only keyholders can pick up items, along with kill my trees, steal my pigs, etc.

I do like the idea of a drop box where people can pick up items you intend to give away. (Or maybe an area to the left of the street sign....)

  • At the very least, collectors should be treated like gnomes and sticks... not able to be interacted with by non-keyholders.

  • The lock solution, available only on user-owned property, would put an end to a lot of this back and forth.
