[not a bug] Zoom Reset on Zone Change or Buff Change

Zoom is now resetting to 1 every time you change zones and every time a buff changes (e.g. High Jumper starts or ends).

  • Yes, this is going to remain this way for now.  There's something complicated about what we had to do to make it work across street changes and game physics, and with some needed to take it out for at least the time being. We don't know when/if it will be back, however.

  • "We don't know when/if it will be back"?

  • You can zoom still, this has to do with the zoom persisting across a street change.

  • Yes, sorry - I panicked!

I meant to say we love both the ability to zoom (which we still can) and the zoom persisting (nice phrase) - hope that comes back, having to use the - key after every transition to a new street is a bit of a bind :(

  • aaaahhhhhh.... if u can't bring back the persisting... can u set a 0.7 or 0.8 as new 1.0 zoom?

the actual 1.0 is soo big :(

I understand, but do hope it'll return in the future.

  • Add my vote to "please change it to persistent zoom as soon as it's possible," if it's possible. Such a wonderful change this was, but for such a short time.  Ah, well.

  • ya i love the zoom too, it's sort of a drag to have to re-zoom out each street. maybe the zoom level could be set as a default per player in a preferences page?  that way the people on netbooks and with integrated graphics cards or visibility issues can keep the default 1.0 but those of us that run fine zoomed out can keep that default as well?thanks for all the hard work!

  • This mostly affects me when doing rapid street changes, like in the Ancestral Lands, or when doing a "street run" to collect a single particular resource.  It's pretty tedious to have to keep resetting it to the "zoom out" position.

It's not a big deal for tasks like mining or working around the house.

Perhaps as a compromise, you could make a "max zoom" key so we can simply hit that and keep running.

  • Rufus, what a great idea! That would be a great compromise.

  • I would certainly add my voice to the cause of setting the default zoom to be around the .8 mark... I feel claustrophobic zoomed all the way in!

  • wow. this is incredibly annoying. when you get things worked out PLEASE bring the permanent zoom back.

  • +1 vote for persistent zoom

  • I just came here to report this 'bug'.  Having the zoom change while traveling is very jarring.

It would be very nice to have a 'max zoom' key such as Rufus suggests.

  • Woot, so glad to have the old method back!

    Thank you, devs!

  • I'd say, "Ditto!" but that's not very polite. So I'll say, "Thank you, devs, what a lovely change!"

(Now to re-retrain my fingers not to zoom out every time a street or state changes.)
