Ajaya Bliss

Seems they removed the ability to teleport in. Before anyone starts in with the "it is behind a locked door for a reason" or "oh it will make it special again" you can't tell me this was done for any reason at all other than throttling the economy. First they capped bonuses at 30, now you have to bend over backwards to get back in.

This will hurt the casuals, people who have a job or family or can't be on for very long at a time. They can't sit around camping a key, or a person with a key. As for buying the keys, well, When I bought mine earlier in the week on the auction house they were already going for 7k, as of right now there are no keys at all - I bet they sky rocket so you would need to be a farmer there to be able to afford a key to get IN there.

ALL OF THAT ASIDE, a bit of warning would have been nice, I would have stayed camped there instead of porting to my house when I logged out earlier.

  • Anthropocene — this has nothing to do with the game being down (like, having lots of people in Ajaya does not hurt the servers or anything).

  • having to  summoned is rather like forcing people who want to work in ajaya to conform to the methods of whatever group is working there.  Like a private club.

  • Auspex well done!

  • Somebody really interested in Ajaya Bliss should start a group to organize mining parties there and advertise it everywhere. I guess it's the only way to get it going.

  • I think if you increase the key spawn rate, people would be less miserable about this.

  • Not that care, I haven't been down there since the first few days.    But it would be interesting to be able to pop in once in awhile to observe this fascinating human laboratory

  • the thing that's special about ajaya is the lil community of regulars that formed. i bought the house i wanted already, but i keep coming back to ajaya. not to mine primarily, but to chat with the regulars. there are great conversations and often good team work. it was fascinating to watch all the different strategies people developed to mine the rock better.

the rest of glitch is great but there is not that same sense of community (yet?) anywhere else, where i'll go and recognise people. there's no real centralised hang out spot. the reason it worked with ajaya is there's a group activity (that yes, does have a monetary pay off) so people stick around and will have a longer conversation.

i get that the get rich quick thing needs to be addressed for the economy of the game, but can we have another space that has a group activity where people can hang out and build friendships?

  • +1 Geeki Yogini ... but the monetary gain is a must, that's what brings people together in this game right now

  • It's really sad to see people camping for a key, and profiteers seeking to take advantage of the increased value. I thought Ajaya Bliss was the best part of the game and I wish the devs would think about ways to extend this sort of cooperative play to other areas.

  • Honestly, I never understood *why* you could teleport there. Not that that stopped me. I hung out in Ajaya about 75% of my time during beta (not as much now as I've been questing and whatnot). And, oddly, I've no idea where the key even spawns. I've certainly never used one to get in.

That seems a bit wrong, to me.

The change sucks because we're all used to just 'porting in and mining a couple thousands of currents worth. In a couple days or maybe a week, it'll all be sorted. And, you know, I think it'll be better.

    *ducking from the rotten tomatoes*

    oh, haha. you're miners!

    ow!

  • Street-projecting has some of what geeki yogini is talking about, although it's different in a number of ways.

  • Well, I'm disappointed because I liked being able to teleport in (though I'd recently stopped participating as much in lieu of a more relaxed mining style again), but not upset.

I always thought it was kinda strange that you could teleport into or set a teleport point in there, as that just made the purpose of having locked doors moot. I didn't think it really should be that way.

It doesn't really matter that a play style was developed around it; it wasn't intended to work that way, and we can adapt. I did find it to be a fun, more social activity for a little while, but it's not so difficult to make the monies that getting in there super-easy is a requirement. Especially since there's the new mining area. I mined in there today, and it was quite nice, even though I prefer the atmosphere of a quieter Ilmenskie.

ETA: Completely agreeing with you, but slower at posting, imbri. lol

  • Cerulean, you should probably look up the definition of trolling. Sitting back and watching expected chaos is hardly trolling. Look at it this way, this makes TP5 suddenly a viable source of income.
Posted 15 months ago by TrentSkunk Subscriber! | Permalink
  • imbri, it will be better in a couple of days or a week (or, we wouldn't have done it).

And, Geeki: we absolutely agree. It might take a while, but it'll have to get beyond the Garowetz's "the monetary gain is a must" angle for it to be successful over the long term. We are working on it! Launch/scaling has slowed us down a bit, but most of our long term efforts are focused on group based activities which are not about making the most money in the shortest period of time.

  • well look, they can do what they want, but i will say this.
ayaja was the only place i found community and chat room style activity in this whole game.
other than in ajaya, everyone seems to just be running around on a solo mission.
the people need a reason to come together, a place to hang out, a place to grind, even a place to occasionally flame or troll one another.  its only healthy.
so, i would appreciate it if some 'hang-outs' could be engineered. and the only way to do this seems to be to offer great benefit for being there.

  • Unfortunately, nerfing Ajaya yet again and in this way has just set up a pirate state, with campers getting and auctioning the key for more than I have time to make in Ajaya in several days.

  • Well, I'm just glad to have gotten my Ilmenskie Deeps exploration badge before this change.  Though I'm a bit miffed that I can't port straight into Plexus any more.

  • I can completely understand why you set the new teleport rule.  I got my first key a few days ago and used it and didn't even think to set a teleport there XD  It would have been an energy paradise, too.  Dang.  ;)

Anyways - why not make a key "deteriorate" after x amount of uses, instead?  It seems quite silly that a key you need to find (that's always in the same spot) is one use only.

  • Little Miss Giggles: Great minds! :)

    Sitar: street projects?

Admittedly, I haven't participated in any since reset, but during beta they were great as far as fostering a sense of community. Granted, they can be expensive if you're all about getting a top spot, but I never was. I would go& give what I could and head out on expeditions to find stuff with others. Lots of chat & camaraderie as you all come together to complete a common goal.

  • I've never been to Ajaya Bliss. When it opened, I heard about it, but it took me 2 weeks to find it. No key, no one to take me in. That was in June? July? At the end of beta, I got a key in the Ancestral Lands. I only found out on Saturday or Sunday, that that was the key to Ajaya.

I supposed I'll never be in whatever cliques it takes to get summoned, so I guess I'll never get that Deeps badge unless the Ancestral Lands are good to me again. That sounds better than camping or paying around sums for a damn game key.

  • The newer mining place is Pollokoo. It's cool. Not as pretty as Ilmenskie, but interesting and has a nice number of sparkly throughout.
Posted 14 months ago by Little Miss Giggles Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Great, had just bought a key off auction and set a teleport in there. Only had mined a couple rocks in the place. Now that mining 3 will finish today I can go back there and recover all that I spent on the auction to get the key.

    Oh wait, I can't.

  • Jarhaven, it's not an exclusive club. People offer to take in whoever's around.
Posted 14 months ago by Aleph Zero Subscriber! | Permalink
  • And Jarhaven, if I ever get a key or have a chance to get in, you're more than welcome to tag along. :)  Dunno when that would be, but it will be a standing offer.

You don't have to be in a clique to get inside (I don't really recall any cliques anyway, just groups of people with common goals/interests). Just have to know someone going with a key, someone already inside with summon abilities or run into someone outside there about to go in. I'm sure it will be obvious when you're in Ilmenskie if people are going in and offering rides.

    EDITED.....  It's very cool...I like it..But..I didn't ( so far ) find anything to mine..LOL :D

  • The key can be auctioned, and is being auctioned, though at fairly crazy prices.
Posted 14 months ago by TrentSkunk Subscriber! | Permalink
  • And don't feel too bad Jarhaven, I've never been in Ajaya either. Sounded entirely too laggy, and there are excellent places to mine besides there. That said, I'd like to get in once for the badge at some point. If I make it in, you're welcome to tag along too. We can make a badge expedition. :)

  • Well, when I've mentioned in Global how much I really, really, REALLY wanted to see what the deal was about with Ajaya, people who were in there usually replied, "Oh, it's so great. You should get a key and check it out!", then moments later offer to summon someone else.

Maybe my Glitchy just smells. ;P
Posted 14 months ago by Jarhaven Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Current auction minimum for the key is 30k. Camping the spawn point is officially the most efficient way to make money? :( :(
Posted 14 months ago by Auspex Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I often wondered why Ajaya Bliss was actually on the map when none of the other locked streets that I can think of are. With the new mining rules you would pretty much have to set up groups of 10 where each rock spawns now anyway since anyone over that 10 wouldn't get any bonus from what I recall. (Was it 10? Or am I misremembering?)
Posted 14 months ago by Serilyn Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Well, I dunno much about global, Jarhaven. I am never in there. I think I've opened it twice since I started playing in April, and only for about a minute or so each time.

Did you ever explicitly say, "I'd like to go to Ajaya, is there anyone I can tag along with?" That might have gotten different responses if you didn't ask specifically, but only mentioned wanting to see it a lot.

Sorry to hear someone mentioned you should get a key and then offered to teleport someone else not long after, though. Perhaps they figured if you wanted to go in right then to see it, that you'd ask directly.

  • I got like 50 mails telling me this, each with a note attached.  What's with the spam??!!  At first I was at a loss about what to do with the notes.  Each takes up one space in my pack.  Don't want to keep, but also don't want to create litter.  Then I thought "the shrines!"  Friendly was not impressed, but I'll take the scorn of a giant over a littered street.

(Yeh, I know it was a bug.)
Posted 14 months ago by Splendora Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Splendora: I had the same thing, I've dumped over 60 in a shrine so I wouldn't be throwing them on the ground and my inbox is still full of them (on the other hand for a little while there I had 3700+ teleportation tokens :D I apologize devs for going a little teleport-happy when I saw that, it's been fixed now, though my inbox is still packed)
Posted 14 months ago by Serilyn Subscriber! | Permalink
  • 50 notes? More like 150.... :(
And you have to delete them one by one *ugh*. Think I sold about 80 of them already... currently doing 10 at a time whenever I pass a mailbox.
"Sorry for the inconvenience. In exchange we're going to provide you with hours of fun picking up notes and deleting mails"...
(Yeah, i know I'm being a bit cranky; today's not the best day.)
Posted 14 months ago by Sumi Subscriber! | Permalink
  • You can sell them? Hmm I didn't think of that. Still it takes so long to reload the inbox each time you delete one I'm not sure that it's worth it.

  • Quick question after seeing the new rules - What happens when someone summons a person who is being followed? Does the whole group following them get summoned in as well, or not?
Posted 14 months ago by Phidias Penrose Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I know, it isn't worth it at all (think it's 3c apiece) - I just want the mailboxes to stop wobbling around, otherwise I probably won't notice if there's proper mail for me.
Glad to hear the reloading feels a bit laggy to others to. Thought it might be a problem on my end.
Posted 14 months ago by Sumi Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I agree with the changes. Ajaya Bliss was nothing but an exploit. It was chaos and fun, but ruining the game. If you think money is that important to Glitch you probably missed an awful lot.
Posted 14 months ago by Spittle Gauze Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I think that each key should have multiple uses before it is used up.  That way if someone DOES get a key (which will be extremely hard at this point) it's not a one time use.  Also if someone accidentally leaves, which I have done once, it won't be such a big deal to get back in.

I don't think this change was a bad thing because people were bringing in bucket loads of people at a time and it was really unfair to anyone who did take the time to get the key.  There was not point to having a locked door in the first place really cause anyone could get in at any time.  The only other thing that bugs me is how sharp/sudden all these changes feel.  I'm not sure how else changes could be made but for some reason a lot of the recent changes have just felt harsh because of the way they were implemented

  • This has made me realize how few mailboxes there are for receiving mail in some places. In the swamps I was hunting around for one and had to go into one of the house streets to actually find one. In Groddle Heights I had to do the same thing, and now Alakol I haven't seen one around yet either. Plenty of the ones for sending, but not the others (maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places).

I might try and empty out the rest of mine too. Once I get it done I won't have to do it again.

Keep the community alive. Form & join mining parties on various streets. Link up with folks headed into Ajaya to save on keys. Etc Etc.
