I'd posted a thread in the general forum asking if fireflies which had been caught and released in a bog house would convey over in the Big Move.
The consensus so far, although no staff have weighed in yet, was that fireflies probably wouldn't transfer over as either "animals" or "possessions," so it would probably be wise to catch them again before the housing transition, and release them again in the new housing, assuming that releasing fireflies is going to be a permissible action (I'm assuming it would require conditions like darkness.)
It's a little bit of a bummer because it costs energy to whistle to catch them outside, and then it costs energy to release them INSIDE (you have to be clever about where you open the jar so that it doesn't fill right back up again, since there's no "open and release" option -- you have to open and whistle), and now it's going to cost a total of twice as much energy as has already been spent, to catch them again and release them again in the new place, assuming they wind up being releasable.
I'd like to suggest an "open and release" option for fireflies inside your house (in a suitable area), which would at least reduce the energy drain for this particular project (and would make aggregating fireflies more fun, since once you have a whole bunch of them, it's hard NOT to catch them when you open the jar!)
What can I say? I like fireflies! :D
