Oy, really, they're *faster*? I thought that they needed to be slowed down in their previous form... I don't know why TS keeps adding new content and then making it frustratingly difficult/unsatisfying to use. :(
I noticed that, too! I can no longer effectively chase them up the sides of the screen and into a corner, pocketing them as I go, because they spend that whole time hiding off-map. It was frustrating me to no end earlier. Up until then, I had come to believe that I'd actually gotten pretty good at catching the slinky little suckers. Now, I'm lucky if I even catch five before I give up.
I was wondering whether it was just me. They definitely seem harder to catch and sneakier now! That hiding-on-the-sides trick is especially annoying - I'd worked out a strategy that seemed to be satisfying, herding them up and then divebombing them, but of course it no longer works. :/
The first day I tried to catch the salmen all was good and I was happy with my little haul complete with boots. No I can not move across the screen quick enough to feed my self.
This is similar to the foxes , day one for me was great, now its not as easy. Maybe a fishing pole or a hand held net to increase your chances of a catch . Similar to fox bait.
Hey Glitches, the salmen are a bit slower now, but I can open a small secret to you: if you switch to "afk" state then the salmen will get much closer to you... so... try it!
Downing some essence of hairball helps a bit, too.
I still, however, HATE this new, hiding-off-screen trick that they've learned. Maybe this bothers me more than it should, but chasing salmen in Jal was beginning to be one of my favorite in-game activites. It was fast-paced fun, but it wasn't so fast-paced that it was frustrating.
I'm holding out hope that Tiny Speck has some salmon-pocketing upgrade cards in the works that would explain this particularly frustrating nerf.
I tried that Serguei and the first time they swam away in the opposite direction of where i was afk. i tried it about 3 times and finally was able to catch one salmon. this is not fun.
To reiterate: I really don't like this change. When it was first introduced, fishing was the most fun
I'd ever had in this game, by a good margin. Now it's almost as awful and frustrating and unproductive as fox brushing.
I have to say, after spending some time salmen fishing last night, I appreciate the foxes a lot more. They seem so laid back and accommodating in comparison!
The chase to catch/corner the fish is fun.
Don't ruin it by just removing any of the challenge. There is no fun in having everything handed to you so easily.
As anyone tried catching salmon as a team? It works very, very well.
Also, while working alone I've now done the sleep and jump technique, and it is so sure fire, if you keep your rhythm of button presses the same every time, you'll get 100% accuracy and should be able to keep your heart rate down in the process. For those of us who like an added challenge, just go for your second fish! It's possible, but harder.
Ah, yeah, I should try it on my netbook, too. It's how I started playing the game, after all. But there are also many other things that don't work so well on a netbook, like walking across Cebarkul at certain times of the day.
Just tried again and they are no longer floating off to the sides and I can free fall faster than them again. All is good.
Now I just need a reason to catch them.
Wow, if this is better, I would have hated to see them a few days ago. Such a fun idea, but as long as they are moving faster than my Glitch is able to move it's an act of frustration.
Unfortunately, it's also a fast-twitch reflex game requiring moving up with the space key, around with the arrow keys (not to mention hoping you float down on one), and the enter key. I'm terrible at these kinds of things, so I play games like Glitch that require more brains than reflex. Oh, wait. Hm.
