Is there a problem with the tinkertool? I didnt see a progress bar at all, so I couldnt stop the repair of my pick halfway to save energy. Im accustomed to just fixing it up just 30 or 40% while mining if Im low on food. Anyone else see this or have I missed someting?
Yea, I was going to make a comment that they were kiddie magnets in my original post, but I refrained...they are almost too cute as to being a bit childish, but then I figured, maybe I just need to relate better to my inner child...
Something about them doesn't look "neat" enough. I like how clean the fonts and icons are everywhere. Maybe because there's no white around the word? I'm not sure what exactly it is. Glitch looks cute and handmade, in a way, but also very clean, and these status bars aren't as much like that. (Or maybe I just need time to get used to it.)
Yeah. I gotta say I'm not much a fan. I can understand why they changed it from the bars (nothing says "i'm wasting my time" quite like a progress bar and nothing says "progress bar" quite as well as a, well, progress bar), but this just doesn't quite do it for me.
@Penelope Sue
That's my main argument against them, too. While they are cute(ish) in their own right (though I stand firmly in the Innie camp), they don't have the clean look the old bars had, which matched the rest of the UI. The contrast between the charming style of the world and the very clean, straightforward UI both amplifies the cute and keeps it in check (in a good way): take away that contrast and you get the Hello Kitty World feel. :/ If they had absolutely had to be changed, I would have wanted a more symbol-y direction, like the heart and water drop speech bubbles for the trees.
It's fine except it's WAY TO BIG! Geez we're old but we're not blind yet. Tone it down a bit. Please use text a few sizes smaller. It would be much better IMO.
I get the bar when repairing items "doing stuff" -- you can x out of it by clicking the x.
The more I see it, the more I think it is the font choice being a bit too squee (and twee). Perhaps the font used in the Super Harvest rainbow animation would be better - still a bit cutesy, but not cutesy covered in chocolate syrup with sprinkles and whipped cream on top.
Nice, but a little too cute for my taste. Maybe if the letters weren't so bubbly or the "Pet" didn't end with a little heart? *pops bubbly letters* *pop* *pop* *pop*
I can roll with the new progress bars, but I personally am not a big fan of puffy balloon-style fonts, so I greatly preferred just a generic bar.
It feels (to me) a little juvenile / childish and cutesy when compared to much of the other game design, and balloon fonts are less easy to read in general, but, again, I'll go with the flow if that's what we end up with. After all, "giant love" and "super harvest" have similar (or identical) balloon-like fonts. Maybe they grate less because they occur less often: you don't see them every single time you do almost anything at all in the game.
I can live with them but don't like them much, think they were better before. Do not like bubble writing at all and they are HUGE, ugly and untidy looking. Glitch is cute but not twee, fine line and bubble writing crosses it,, IMO.
Visually not as functional as the old bars. Almost unusable with some 'backgrounds.' I have hopes that they're working on more functional improvements than this. It seems like the kind of thing a coder does to fool around.
-1,000,000 .
Oh no - this IS HORRIBLE ! I do NOT like this . It is way to childish -bubbly ballon letters!!!? Come on Glitch- whimsical is one thing childish is another. Please dont make this permanent !
Dare I say, that while the cosmetic changes are cutesy at best, I'd much prefer the devs to be working on substantive changes so we can be true re-beta testers?! Cutesy fonts and cosmetic changes can come after we break all the major changes to the game...if I am supposed to be a beta tester now, I want something real to test vice something cosmetic...
I can live with these, but I don't like them. I don't want to read "Mine mine mine" x times a day. And yet it is hard not to read text that pops up on the screen. Somehow seeing the text telling me I am doing exactly what I set out to do and already know I am doing feels wrong. The very first time is a nice surprise. The 100th or 1000th time, not so much.
I like the X that lets me click it to stop. How often will I use that? Probably almost never but it seems like a nice option. The X alone (without the text) would let me know I am actively engaged in something that I can stop doing.
In my dream world the next update of this will feature a check box (over near the music and atmosphere volumes) allowing me to opt of of this activity related text.
Yuk! I do not like this change at all. Queen Alcmene, serenitycat, Ebiler and byght mei expressed my reaction perfectly.
This change coming soon after the "Kid's Room" quest (great design, but so first grade), makes me think glitch is moving away from a game for adults (ok, 13+) to kiddies. Whimsy, silly, playful is one thing. Babyish, girly, cutesy is quite another. Alarm bells are going off *begins breathing deeply to calm down*
If they can change the text on actions, why can't they let us turn it off if we like? As well as the black popups in the main play screen and the speech bubbles from whatever I am interacting with (not people). Please, please let me turn them off!
I like them... I am with some of you in that they could come after some other things. ^.^ Like our houses :) Maybe make harvest green and not pee yellow/ orange too.
