For those who like spending their time in hell (for whatever reason) why not have a fruit that will deplete all of a glitch's energy when eaten? It would come with a very explicit warning in the item description, of course.
This could actually be handy after a no-no binge at the end of the day when you're trying to die before the new day begins and for some reason the game refuses to kill you.
The fruit would have some advantages over nono. It should be cheap, quick and reliable to produce, like buying from a vendor or fruit changing. Nono can only be produced through mining and grinding to my knowledge, and those things can take awhile if you want to accumulate nono. The auction may not have fruit or nono when you need it. Plus, the purpose of nono is not to send you to hell, it's to give you a buff, and I doubt people would want to waste it as a teleport item.
I'm not so sure the xp bonus is a good idea. What would stop people from stockpiling forbidden fruit and then squishing grapes, and then repeating the process for to achieve rapid leveling?
Another thought- perhaps the fruit should look like a pomegranate, in reference to the Greek legend of Persephone, who was bound to hell for eating a pomegranate. Anyway, I'm glad you all like the idea, even it it may have yet a few kinks to work out!
I think the fruit should be hard to find and only available after you complete an epic quest. It should also be able to be used once. The xp should be a lot but you should have to squish a lot of grapes to get back to the real world. Make it hard to get, risky yet worth it.
It's a nice idea, but the added XP could make it far too easy to exploit. Go about your glitchy business in the day, eat fruit multiple times in the evening, get out of hell just before midnight and *bingo* your health and mood are replenished. It could be interesting as a one-off item: perhaps as part of a quest where you had to go to hell (which would in turn make players less scared of dying - I'm sure there are plenty of newcomers who work far too hard to stay out of the wonders of hell).
I agree with Cindi Electronium. Any xp boost would make the fruit exploitable. However, my original purpose for the fruit was for it to be a cheap, easily obtainable item that can *only* send you to hell. It isn't supposed to be super rare or have amazing abilities or its own quest; just a new fruit than can be made with the changer that acts like a hell-only teleport token.
If you want a fruit that sends you to hell then it shouldn't be the Forbidden Fruit. The Forbidden Fruit was supposed to grant the knowledge of good and evil and was only eaten once. Since it boost knowledge it makes sense to boost XP and maybe knock off some time on learning a skill.
Naming it the Forbidden Fruit may offend some players as well. The Unholy Fruit or something along that lines would be better.
Sadly, with the new 13 player limits in hell and the extra hell(s) that the staff just implemented, it seems like this item will never come to 'fruition' :(
I don't mind an item or action sending you to 'Hell,' but I dislike it being expressed in terms of the Christian faith, as it's both disrespectful (for observant Christians) and irritating (for those of different faiths/atheist). Would much prefer that Glitch is a place where religious 'labels' aren't an issue at all.
