Great idea.

  • Yay!

Thanks for that: the helpers are a bit overloaded :)

  • Thanks, we've got some things cooking to make problem reporting a little smarter and give people more resources to look through to find self-help solutions to common problems. (And hopefully it gently shows how you can update an existing help/bug report rather than opening a new case for any addendums to one you have already submitted.) Since a number of issues are transitory and overcome pretty quickly, we wanted to give players a chance to review outstanding issues that they have for ones which are no longer an issue. :)

  • Um... While removing outright superfluous bugs would indeed be a helpful thing, I don't think from our end we can tell if this is the case as just because the bug was solved for one person who may have done something like ie: cleared their cache to fix the problem of new code not playing well with old code, the developers still want to make the code get along so that everyone doesn't have to clear their cache. This is just an example, it also may contain information in regard to a clue that this happens when you do a certain thing. Sometimes they fix the issue manually, which is a short term fix and doesn't address the underlying problem. They do provide a delete button, but perhaps this is for use primarily when you file a report and then realize that this thing you thought was a bug was actually a user error. iow , I'm not sure if deleting them is helpful and I would like to.

Edited to add um ...nm ?

  • Yay I saw this and agree it looks awesome as well. Is this instead of emails now? (assuming so)

  • I really did not need any reply.  I reported Bugs to be helpful (I hoped).  Anyway, the issues were all resolved so i deleted them.  Thanks to Beefcake for helping me with the chicken and pigs!

  • Very cool!! I was able to cancel out one of the three bug reports that I had sent in.
Very nicely set-up and easy to understand. Awesome job!!

  • @Divine~- "I don't think from our end we can tell..."

And that's ok- we still have to look over the ones that are reported as self-resolved and can spot patterns/common issues with other ones reported. :)

  • TYVM :)

  • Divine~: lots of people use the bug tool to ask questions about how to play the game which they later find the answer to. It's OK (and extremely) helpful for us if those are closed. Same with many reports of ephemeral server errors which we already knew about, and many other cases. This let's us concentrate on the actual problems.

Gabi: this won't replace email (in fact, the tickets were visible on the site all along — just not many people knew about it; all we did was make it more visible). Players will continue to get email notifications when we respond to one of their tickets.

  • Hi, all you amazing helper folk. Just dismissed my four pending issues -- I either figured them out or they went away.

  • sgjo, by "ephemeral server errors", I just meant things like the server being down while we're restarting or a crash or something. We already know about those because we have monitoring and alerting set up, but we still get dozens of reports by well intentioned Glitchers.

  • Ahh...ty, stoot. Just wanted to make sure that I hadn't reported one of those. :D (I WILL learn all of this computer lingo, one of these years)

  • Which is more efficient for staff: Posting a bug to the forums, or sending a bug help case?
Posted 19 months ago by Hburger Subscriber! | Permalink
  • To add onto Hburger- or just IMing you guys during the game. I realize this probably isn't as helpful otherwise you will be bombarded but just another option.

  • Figured this might be a good place to post this question, last test (not the short test yesterday) the follow wasn't working right, the follower dropped off as you entered a new street. Did anyone else have this problem? I can check when we open again to see if the follow works, but wondered if it was an isolated instance.

  • Gizmospooky I believe that is a documented problem as it happens quite often.
