[not a bug] Forum HTML

Not sure if this is the right place and not exactly a bug but...
If I turn on source editor I can use things like <u>these </u>. ( I don't know enough about them to know the names). Then when I turn it off again I see my text underlined.
However, it doesn't show like that in the preview or when posted.
This is probably intentional (keep formatting options simple and not many options) but if you're used to using those commands then it might get confusing.
Any chance formatting options in html will be expanded? (So there will be an underline button and a bullets / list button?)

  • Yes, agree, this is quite annoying...I hope they fix it...tired of only being able to post in regular, bold, italic or bold italic...need some colors and additional options...

  • Certain features won't work in IE at all just now...
That aside. Please, no color, no animated smilies, no font size changes. No big colorful tag lines, no scrolling banners. Simple, clean, easy.

  • +1 for more options (even colors)

*slaps b3achy on back a couple of times*

I have problems with the code sticking when I try to switch to regular text.

  • I'm with Travinara.  Forums I like to frequent are much like this one is now, or all those gewgaws that alot of people seem to like can be turned off.

  • Not saying the Forums couldn't use a handful of touches. For the life of me I can't logic why underlining was turned off except it can mess with http links. Also, a thumbnail avatar would be nice. Whatever the changes, I always prefer to see 'cleanly simple' at the forefront of design.

My main objection to things like large graphics (especially animated ones) is they get overused and clutter the place up. Color has the same effect. What one person finds cute in screaming magenta, or alternating every other letter in cyan and yellow... another finds bothersome and extremely difficult to read.

  • +1 I like simple, clean too, for the same reasons Trav mentioned.
