Disable private chats/IMs

I would like an on/off switch for IMs.  Helpful to those of us who just don't want to chat.

  • I would like to be able to go into my house and not be seen... When I leave my house it would be ok to be seen as online as I am ready to play and interact. Sometimes there is times I just want to go in tend my garden and animals and leave. I don't have time to chit chat. and don't won't to seem rude to my friends that see me come online and not talk.

  • +1n Garth.. I totally agree.. My house is my respite.. Want it to be a place where I can reselttle myself, organize and take care of home based tasks without my friends feeling like I'm snubbing them..

  • Perhaps an "Invisible" option, so we could choose?

  • I posted this elsewhere but I think having some sort of "afk" notification pop up to others when people try to IM you and you are either AFK or just not in the mood to talk, something you could toggle off and on. Might help!

  • i know i am always trying to make everything into a skill, but it would be totally fun to have the ability to craft a big glitch-sized bubble so that you could step into and roam around playing the game undisturbed in your own little bubble, if you were feeling anti-social that day.

  • You could just ignore them. Those chat notifications are so discreet that nobody could possibly argue if you just said you didn't notice them. I often don't notice them until way after the fact.

[Full disclosure: If the telephone rings, and I don't feel like it, I don't answer it].

  • I'd love to be able to set myself as "afk". I go afk a lot, probably more than the average person, and several times now I've had people messaging me desperately for 10 minutes and deciding that I'm ignoring them. I just feel bad about it.
