Moving - Lost Possessions :(

Oh dear! I just bought a new house, sold my old one and moved into the new one. Great! One problem, I thought my stuff would move with me.

Would have been good to have a pop up warning that this would happen or clearer advice about moving

Just feeling a bit sad after all that running about and collecting that everything has gone. At least the last owner of my new house left some potatoes in the ground, so my pigs won't starve ;-)

Hopefully other new players might read this and not lose their stuff too!

  • Look out for the new owner of your old place, you might be able to get your stuff back if they're nice :)

  • It's in a place that have a lot for sale, and they don't seem to be selling, but maybe I can leave a note. Hmmn, all my paper was in the old house :D That's a great idea though, thanks!

  • If you REALLY want your stuff, sell the new house and buy the old house back...

  • Genius Plan Sir Frozit, I will have to do some bean counting to see if it's worth it.

Thanks for your help folks. :)

  • PS. Am a bit scared to move again as it is confusing, I still don't know what you are supposed to do to make sure stuff goes with you.

    Forgive me, I am old!

Pack it into bags and 'wear' it. If its in the house you lose it. The ONLY exception is your trophies. They automagically appear in your new trophy cabinet.

Rope in friends to carry or store stuff for you. Or cash it in for currents.

  • You can also post it at auction for some insanely high price and then cancel the auction once you've moved.

  • You can also make arrangements with another player to dump your stuff in a corner of their house while you move.

Having a warning about losing your stuff is a good idea. You might make a post in the ideas section of the forum.

  • The same thing happened to me a few days ago, just find them and ask them for your stuff back :)

  • Thanks everyone, you have all been really helpful.

I really enjoy the game and this has been the only problem I have had, the moving procedure is not clear.

I won't make the same mistake again though!

    Thanks again :)

  • Ha! Have been trying to convince my partner to play, he said he didn't have enough time... Anyway, he signed up and I helped him get my old house back. So, I have my things, he has his own house and has given me a key.

So, all's well that ends well (I bet he gets addicted too!)

  • Can you mail items to yourself?   That might be a way to get them between houses...

  • Mailing to yourself costs a lot, just thought Id put that out there

  • There have been several suggestions about how to deal with moving.  TS finally has a housing FAQ mentioning to clear out your stuff.  However,  I think there should also be a  warning during the sale to let people know that items in the house (except trophies) will not move.  Trees and animals stay with the house no matter what, unless you hogtie one piggy.  Since TS says one of the big items on the new Beta list is to largely revamp the housing system, I wonder if they will make any such smaller changes now.
