What is your plan for this week's test?

I'm sure a lot of people are like me and are lurking the forums while waiting for the "Closed" sign to go away, trying to find things to keep busy while we wait. Well, let's chat! :o

What's your plan for this week's test?

My plan for today is to do a lot of mining :D I learned Mining 4 over this break and I can't wait to try it out. Besides that, I'm not sure. I always end up spending most of my time working on Projects or collecting things for Projects even though I say I want to try other things, lol. (And I want to mine more because most of my money goes towards projects, too...) I have a lot of achievements to finish so that'll be something to work on too.

I also just downloaded a screen-video-capturing program and I would like to try that out with Glitch. I don't know what I want to tape, but I would like to play around with it anyway, haha. Maybe make a fan video :P (crossing fingers for another rook attack)

Other than that... I'm not really sure what my plan is. Like I said, no matter what I say I'm going to do, I almost always end up spending hours upon hours working on projects XD Hehe.

So how about you?

  • I'm torn between completing mining IV and moving up the trancendental mediation skills tree... I want to fight the rook with the the big girls and boys.... I guess I'll put mining IV on hold and start improving my meditation.

  • I'm hoping I can just squeeze in the time to finish everything in the Gardening, Croppery and Animal Kinship skill trees.  This will make me most efficient in gathering raw materials for making food and drink to sell in the auctions, which is how I plan to earn my living for the moment.  Once I've got a decent bank account of currants I can devote more time to exploring the world - something I have been sadly neglecting of late.

  • If you have a lot of time left to learn Mining IV, I would say put it off till the break. You can still make a lot of money with mining III, and might as well learn a whole bunch of smaller/less time skills while the game is up, right? That's my plan. Like Hawkwell, I have a lot of gardening/animal kinship/cooking skills to learn that I'd like to work on that I've been putting off due to not enough time! So much time now, can't wait :) Will probably be able to learn a lot of skills!

  • Djoe6897 : WIN? 'splane, pleze... ??????
Posted 16 months ago by sakmet Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'm still a young Glitchen, so my plan is to continue exploring. I read on the strategy guide a way to efficiently get to the point of being able to make Awesome Stew, so I'm going to work on that first. Then, I'm going to make about a million of them and hit the mines! I'd like to get all the emblems out of the way and start currying favor with the Giants. I also think I'm going to redeem my free subscriber month and play around in the wardrobe.

ETA: That 'WIN' up there is probably an agreement with the previous post's strategy. =)

  • Harkwell - just a suggestion, but if you're going to try to finish off a couple skill trees, you might consider better learning 3+4 first. I know it might seem like a slight waste of time, but the more skills you learn, the longer it takes to learn new skills, so you might not be able to learn as many new skills as you'd like. I just finished BL5, and I wish I took the time to learn it a lot sooner!!!

  • Oh.Thanks tonya.
Posted 16 months ago by sakmet Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thanks, Eureka, but the problem is I don't have that emblem of Lem yet to be able to do BL3.  Maybe I'll get it this test.
Posted 16 months ago by Hawkwell Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'm only level 14 at the moment, but have done some skill trees fully (Mining 4, Tele 5, Martial Imagination). Perhaps I've done things differently to other starters, I'm not sure.

Lack of emblems is holding me back from getting further in the other skill trees. I keep getting sidetracked doing quests, using up all my supplies and currants in the process!

This test I'm going to concentrate on mining mining mining, until I've got gems to donate to get emblems. After that, not sure, probably increase my Grinding and Alchemy skills so I can make more things to sell. Oh and also get better at cooking. And cocktails. And gardening. And, and, and…

Wow, so much to do! ;-D

PS: Hope there's a Rook attack while I'm around too, then I can try out the new MI skills, could be fun!

  • Harkwell - I'll send you some EHSP after the test opens, you can use that to boost the value of your donations to Lem. You should have that emblem in no time.

  • Street projects.   I'm hoping for a full trophy this test!

  • Work on at least one of my combat skills. Try to break my current tinkertool so I can finish this one quest. Stock up on supplies and materials for street projects. Get a Fuel Maker. Buy more Bigger Bags and one more Alchemy Kit (was that the one for the Elements?) so I don't have to keep dumping my Red Element.

  • Other than my usual (Teleport to Ajaya Bliss, mine sparkly, mine sparkly, mine sparkly, vend/donate to speed up learning) during the next 7 days I'm hoping to:

Spend some time exploring some of the newer regions, collect a bajillion fireflies and barnacles for projects, finish Teleportation IV (yay script writing!), learn Fuelmaking I, finish out the cooking tree with Master Chef II and, like so many others, keep my eyes peeled for the treacherous Rook.

  • Learn Bog Specialization and Herbalism skills. I just got Animal Kinship VI during the break, so cooking should be nice with not having to massage butterflies before milking :-). I do like cooking, so more skills there too.

Maybe explore more thoroughly - using the location list for each area (in Encyclopedia) as a checklist, so I don't miss anything.  Maybe get more experience using the subway - I've only ridden it once so far. Maybe fill up my spice rack and my elements box.

  • I just realized that for the first point on a long time, I have no plan. No business to open, no treasure hunt to set up. I have all the skills. I used last test to move houses. Heck, I actually got all of the project trophies.

I will maybe work on those achievements and quests that I have been avoiding. So I will probably be asking for help.
    1) I need to do the peat quest!
    2) I need to do the get helped while digging quest.
    3) I have never traded.

  • @ LB-o, I need to do the helped while digging quest too, want to meet up for some digging?

  • @LB-o I need to do the peat quest too. Let me know if you want to team up. I think we need 4 people to make it work.
Posted 16 months ago by marycontrary Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @marycontrary and LB-o, I've done the peat quest but I'm happy to join in to help with your quest. Maybe we can get Larky Lion to captain the quest, she's the queen of peat questing!!

  • I'm curious, Zoei, what video program did you download? I've been looking for one.

  • I need to do the peat quest, too, but might not be in game until much later.

  • Mining, too. I have to finish learning mining skills but Cocktail II is on the list so I can start making tons of Earthshakers and Flaming Humbabas. My goal? Earn enough money to get a nice little house to live in. I'm in one of the tree houses now but I have my eye on a 10k out in Andra - love the colors out there.

Thing is, I have a 10-page research paper due Sunday night and an 8 page one due Friday night, along with two final exams and three other smaller assignments. Being a rising senior in summer college courses has put such a wrench in my Glitch plans, especially since the week long test happens to fall on my cram week. Oh well, at least when I'm not actively playing I can still keep learning skills.

  • Later today, I can play peat quest tour guide.  I'll make a status update on the home page.  If you want in, you can friend me and reply to that so I know to look out for you when gathering a group.

Uh, so I guess my plan is to lead more peat quests!  I just finished my very last skill, so this test I'm going to roll around in my riches instead of donating it all to giants ;)

  • @Eureka, Thank you for the kind offer. that works for me, if we can find a good time.
@emdot, if you need someone to do the quest and we have already done it, I will be happy to help you do it anyway.

  • 1. help @groove with peat quest
    2. maybe move to salatu (unless we get bigger treehouses ;)
    3. convince elian to project with us again
    4. general mischief and mayhem

  • Finish all my skills (should be able to do that this test, unless more are added).
Lots of harvesting. Lots of chatting. Lots of selling stuff. Got a few things to buy too.
Other than that, I intend to have as much Glitchy fun as possible :D
Oh, and I have to drop by Plexus and check if the piggy I dropped there is still alive. If he is, I'll have to rescue him, as he wasn't happy being there. Sorry Piggy!

  • @Cupcake--I'm curious, Zoei, what video program did you download? I've been looking for one.

I downloaded "Snagit". I watched this video on youtube about screen vid capturing and it was really helpful. I would suggest looking up that vid (I can send the link when I'm at home in a few hours if you can't find it), or the basic instructions to find it were to go to this page: Click and then download "SnagIT 5.0.2" (which the vid said is the free version), and then the program wizard will pop up and run you through it. I just got it last night so I don't know everything about it, but I tried taking some videos with it and it worked just fine :)

However, I've also heard that this program is good: camstudio.org/
But, I downloaded it and tried it and it didn't work on my computer :/ I don't think it's compatible with windows 7 yet. So, if you have XP or Vista or have a way to figure it out (no idea on macs), it might work for you, but Snagit works fine for me, and it seems to be pretty easy to use. Snagit does seem to be an older program, but hey, it's free and it works xD There might be better ones out there but through searching I didn't see a lot that were free to download. I think Cnet has some paying ones on their site?

    Good luck! :)

  • I just moved houses at the end of the last test! I went from a little apartment in Tamila to a tree house in Groddle Forest -- gradually moving up. I can afford a bigger place, but I am nervous about learning to have animals and my own trees, so I am starting to move up slowly.

I have a chick of my own now that I need to feed! And somehow I need to get more animals! And plant some trees! Exciting new goals-for-self!

  • LOL @ Djoe

Yes, my plan is to WIN as well. Apparently every time I leave the game I was just about to win - I know because I get this message telling me. It gets frustrating... I guess I just need to play a little longer and I'll manage that elusive victory.

Other than that, I'm contemplating moving house. Been very happy in a treehouse in Groddle Forest for the last couple of tests but I've got a lot of currants burning a hole in my pocket and I'm finding I'm spending more & more of my time waaay up north. I'll miss my old house though.

ETA: StarBryte - the Forest treehouses are THE BEST :-)
Posted 16 months ago by Snazzlefrazz Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Snazzlefrazz -- Glad to hear that you've been happy with your treehouse! I'm excited to try one. I think I want to try a variety of houses over time. I thought that the treehouse would be a good house to slowly learn new things. I'm very stressed about animals! Will I kill them? (This is coming from someone who is afraid to take no-no powder or die in any way in the game. I guess another goal I could have for this test would be to let myself die and go to hell once, so that I get over the fear of it!)
Posted 16 months ago by StarBryte Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I wanted to try a variety of houses too... except I loved Pasha's Place so much. Cute treehouse, 1 street from subway, plenty of cherry trees, 3-4 streets from the mines, lots of garden... been unable to tear myself away.

Apparently the animals can die (or rather 'move to another plane of existence')... but I'm yet to have any problems... I'm sure you'll do just fine. Just pop home every day to pet them.

Hell isn't as bad as you might think :-D - only issue is that when you come back you're in a foul mood with no energy. So, if you're going to die deliberately, do it near the end of the day.
But yeah, I've been carrying around a couple of no-no powders for weeks trying to summon up the courage to take it!
Posted 16 months ago by Snazzlefrazz Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I am going to play with the 50 emblems I have now collected and try to help out on a few streets if I can. Who knows I might finally earn the trophy parts I am missing :)
Posted 16 months ago by GavinLeigh Subscriber! | Permalink
  • snazzlefrazz -- we should go somewhere and take no-no powders at the same time. moral support!
Posted 16 months ago by StarBryte Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Good luck with the no-no StarBryte, and Snazzlefrazz, if you decide to try them :)
They made me nervous for a while, but I gave in to temptation and took them and ended up in hell. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I was fortunate that I had a lot of drinks and food on hand, so I could get my mood and energy back up and recover quickly. I don't think I'd intentionally die again (unless I decide to go for Zombie badge), was different, but not something I'd want to do on a regular basis lol

  • It's so funny to me that I'm scared of it!
Posted 16 months ago by StarBryte Subscriber! | Permalink
  • lol @ Ebil...that's what I ended up doing the last few hours of the test...using no-no coz I'm "dying" to get those badges :P
Posted 16 months ago by sgjo Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I neglected the BL skills so far so I plan on getting those first. And just try and get some achievement badges while I learn them. I plan on doing less exploring and more achievements this time. Oh and plant lots and lots of trees.

  • LOL - ok StarBryte, it's a date. A date filled with drug-fuelled shenanigans and inevitable death.

    Lovely :-)

We'll make sure to get the Dragon Chaser achievement while we're at it.

  • INEVITABLE DEATH! ...scared...

Dragon Chaser achievement??? (Going to Encyclopedia...) how many packets do we need?
Posted 16 months ago by StarBryte Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Dragon Chaser needs 11 minutes of no-no high, and I believe we get 10 minutes from 1 packet - so we only need two packets each. But maybe we'll enjoy it & want more :-)

I have the skills to setup a no-no lab in my house... shhhh... don't tell the neighbours.

  • My plan is to not bumble around. xD Last test was my first exposure to Glitch at all (not even forums before that) and I had no idea how to do anything. This time, I'm gonna gun it hardcore and save up for one of those sexy places in Alakol. Goodbye, Gregarious Towers!

My other goal is to explore everywhere.
