In this test, many times when I went to interact with a plant, vendor, etc. the white bubble came up and said 'working', sometimes for 10-15 seconds before the actual dialogue appeared. This happened randomly (ie. not every time).
I was looking to see if anyone else had same problem. I had a very good computer, pretty top notch I'd say. I had the latest Flash version, and I heard it was better to have the "debug" version so I did that too, and now it's just worst... Staff, is there a known issue or some things we can try, ever heard of this before? Literally 90% of things I interact with take several seconds with the "working" loading icon showing and sometimes it actually won't stop and I have to walk away with my avatar and come back and click again. The first few days/weeks I played Glitch, this never happened... It's only recently. And with that, came the bug/error pop-ups (out of nowhere, that I didn't request, and that don't show up in the "Help" section either...).
Do you recommand using something else then IE? Thank you!
elka, try another browser to see if that reduces the lag and automatic bug reports (those are the bug/error pop-ups that you aren't requesting and don't show up in the help tickets). (I use Chrome, many others use Firefox or Safari.)
Also note that the game runs better when it is the only thing running in a particular browser (whatever browser it may be). Extra tabs and extra flash things running will bog the game down a lot.
I can confirm a few things. Today was the worst day ever. I asked in Live Help if I was alone and got 2 repliers that said it was the same for them, but that clicking again works. Well for one thing, you don't want to have to click numerous times on things in a game for them to work. Tonight was so bad, actually, that by the time I got to mining something, people had already took all the Ores... I had to click 3 or 4 times before the "working" spinning icon would go away, when usually the second time works.
First I followed the given instructions as to fully remove current Flash version and then install the DEBUG one. Things got worst actually since I have this version... Just FYI.
So secondly I tried clearing all cache etc, in IE, didn't work.
So I went to Firefox... worst, the game never showed up. I had www.glitch.com/game page coming up, and a white blank page with nothing, not even loading.
So finally I tried Chrome, and it was just as slow as Internet Explorer, the dialog issue was 100% same not even better.
I am a bit at loss. Before, it was just a tad annoying. Tonight, it was unplayable. I so hope we can find out what is going on!
elka: Your ping times are through the roof. Are you downloading anything while you play, or is anyone else downloading anything on your connection? For reference, those numbers followed by 'ms' are milliseconds that it took for your computer to connect to the servers for our game. 1000 ms is equal to one second, and you generally want ping times at 500 or lower (give or take). Yours are about 10 times that, and that's the sign of connection problems. Your browser also timed out on the bandwidth test, which is a further indication.
I would check and make sure nobody's downloading anything (bit torrents, in particular, will eat up a ton of your bandwidth), and if they're not, try restarting your wireless/home network router, your cable modem/dsl router, and if none of that works, contact your ISP. Use something like http://www.speedtest.net and compare your results to your advertised speeds, and if those are way off then that's even more of an indication that your internet connection is struggling.
I am experiencing similar problems since yesterday.
Today, the game is basically stuck. Chat response is slow, animals freeze for several seconds. loading time takes forever.
I played Glitch quite smoothly for the last 3 weeks. I know that I live in a place that cannot offer high standard internet connection, but despite that did not have any problems the last weeks.
I emptied cache, closed browser, restarted computer. The test page shows mixed results. Of course, unfortunately, I don't know if those results were similar last week when the game ran normal.
