A confirmation when dropping a non-empty bag

I just had a very scary experience that I would like to not have happen to anyone ever again. I was wandering around and also chatting. I was going through my inventory and trying to check out a few things. Then I noticed a bigger bag on the ground. I have seen bags lying around before and left my own when upgrading my inventory. I figured someone must have needed space for a spice rack or an alchemy thingy or whatever. I let someone lower level than me know about it in case she still was in the bag-acquisition phase and moved on. A bit later, I noticed I was missing a bag - my bag of emblems in fact, which had me really worried. I raced back to the location, it was still there, and I got it back no problem. So, I'm fine. But that could have been really bad. Somehow I dropped it without ever realizing I had dropped it. Probably not a common mistake, but it can be such a severe one that an "Are you sure you want to drop this bag that contains items?" would be much appreciated. The quick easy, one-click interface is generally nice, but if you're about to do something you potentially really don't want to do, then confirmations are good. We have them for spending an emblem, which wouldn't even have been as bad to do accidentally as this, so I think it's a good place for one.

  • Sorry but I often drop full bags deliberately and would find it tedious if I had to confirm every time

  • Maybe a confirmation unless you dropped it in your house (or maybe something that could be tied to the new bag options? A "click for bag drop confirmation on this particular bag" type of thing) (or even a "don't give/donate/etc this bag or anything in it?).

(Reminds me of something I was thinking earlier - there's a cofirmation for giving something to somebody but not if you're giving them the only one of that item you have (which makes sense from a "this matches our existing UI" perspective but not so much from a "more expensive items you're more likely to have only one of" perspective).

  • -1 already too many confirmations; if you drop it where you didn't mean to, just pick it up again

  • Janitch, that wouldn't solve the problem I described. As I had not known I had dropped it.

I would be fine with it as a settable option. I'd much rather have to deal with another confirmation than become incredibly demoralized, which I would have been had I lost my bag of emblems. A setback that huge would have seriously discouraged me from playing, especially as I would have known I'd be at risk for it happening again. I still am at risk for such a loss, which makes me uncomfortable.

  • I really want a bag lock or item lock like diaveborn describes.  I carry my spigot with me because I like to use the Drain function, but I live in mortal fear of losing the item or the bag it's in.  I stopped carrying my dusty stick ages ago even though I love playing with it.

I might eventually put the spigot in a museum, just as I did for the stick, but that seems like a waste -- do we have to hide all the rare items in the game rather than bring them out into the world?  Please let us make certain items ungiveable/undroppable so that we can carry them with pride!

  • Maybe a toggle to put in settings -- "bag dropping warning on/off"

I would always have it off, though.

  • God no.  I am constantly moving full bags in and out of my slots.    I suggest you leave your emblems at home.

  • Yeah, leaving emblems at home works - but like Pale Queen said, it's kind of sad to leave stuff like dusty sticks or GNGs when not only we but others could get enjoyment from our carrying them around.

I regularly switch between big bags in my backyard, dropping one, picking up another and it would be a major hassle if I had to confirm that yes, I really did mean to drop one so I could pick up the other.

    No thanks

  • The UI doesn't need this sort of nerfing.  No.  It does not.

  • If you label your bag, calling it "Larch's Bag of Emblems" for example, then you will see clearly what the bag on the ground is if you accidentally drop it.
