What's the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you on Glitch?

Could be a friend, a stranger, when you were brand new, ten minutes ago...whatever you thought was nicest!

As for me, it seems like whenever I'm just about to croak, someone comes along and gives me more energy. :) I really appreciate it!

  • Someone gave me a Piggy Cubimal at the Somewhat Sump candy exchange during my first Zilliween.  At first I thought it was a mistake, but they said it wasn't.  My first (and still only) cubimal!  I named my piggy Glinda.  :)

  • Back in the Beta, someone gave me 15k currants just because I was talking in GC about how that was what I had left to earn before I could buy my first 50k mansion. And when I attempted to host one of the first cubimal trading parties (which went bazonkers) another individual gave me 25k currants just for trading the full stack of cubimals to him for the trophy.

There are some incredibly nice and generous people playing in this game. Once I can build my nest egg back up, I intend on contributing to the philanthropy much more than I have since launch. <3

  • Great Question!! ok... This happened when I was using my ancient laptop and I lagged *really* bad. I was slowly looking for ghosts and this glitch asked if he could follow me. I didn't know about the badge then and couldn't imagine why he'd want to but told him Okaaayy, you can if you want... I'm hunting ghosties. So he follows, lagging thru 3 streets, a good sport, and we laughed at the lags.
At the end he gave me a full EHSP !! The first time I'd ever had any. I was so excited. He said that was his 300th achievement. All I could type was Wow. Then he was gone.. but I friended him. Hugs to you Mr. B

  • I really can't remember any one story.  I've seen so much kindness in this game.  It's one of the main reasons I keep coming back.  It gives me hope.  Just about every day someone drops something on me as I'm traveling around.  I feel it's very important to pay it forward and do so, in turn, every day.

  • ditto to what rusty said , above!
I've received a lot of nice here - BIG helps, little helps , anonymous helps, mailed helps, stuff on my doorstep helps, helps from my friends (love you all, xoxo) , advice helps, Live Help helps (awesome), cubis, food, etc. and it would be IMPOSSIBLE to say which one was most valueable and nice to me -because they are ALL valueable, terribly valueable.
And it is a big reason why I LOVE to play here.
and I try to pay it forward, do unto others- whatever you want to call it- I do try to give back as often and as well as I can . Some days I am short on c's or whatever- still even on those days- I can manage a small help or kindness to a stranger or a hug to a friend . ;)

  • So many wonderful people play this game...and, echoing the other sentiments expressed here, its why I love playing and keep coming back to play more.  Recently had an extremely generous Glitch give me a JuJu cubimal in NevaNeva...just gave it to me.  I thought it was a mistake, but they insisted.  I was floored.  I try to pay it forward all the time.  :D

  • I went to one of the AB key-spawning areas to wait for a key.  When I got there, someone was already there, so I settled in for a good long wait.  After a minute or so, the other Glitch asked me if I was camping out to sell the key or use it.  I said I was planning to use it and he just gave me one!  I was so excited and thought that that was rather kind, since they were going for about 2k at the time.

  • I am daily enchanted with all of the small kindnesses and random acts of generosity I come across. There have beeen many - too many to mention - when I was the recipient of these moments of kindness.

One I will never forget is a week or so ago, I was strolling through Ur and a complete stranger came up to me and gave me an Uncle Friendly cubimal. I questioned whether this was intended and was assured the he was mine to keep. Wow. I am taking very good care of him now - and he will always represent the special Glitches out there.

I am constantly impressed with the people who play the game to give - whether that be leaving surprize gifts in hiding places, welcome bags for young Glitchen or organizing parties for all to enjoy.

I am loving the Sandbox Group - a whole team of people focused on spreading the joy of Glitch. Check it out: www.glitch.com/groups/RHV10...

  • Very early in my glitchood, a more advanced player gave me a bag out of the blue.  For no reason. It was just a bag, but for newly minted me it was a huuuuge help and an expense I couldn't possible have borne.

    Thank you, whoever you were!

  • When I had only been playing for a few days and was still at a very low level I was helping someone mine and dropped an Amber because my bags were full. Rather than picking it up, she asked if my bags were full and then gave me a bigger bag which at that point was like all my christmases coming at once.

Unfortunately then I had no idea how to friend someone so I don't know who it was but thank you so much mysterious glitch! I have been trying to pay it forward ever since.

  • I'm not sure I can say it was the nicest thing anyone has done for me in Glitch, but it certainly was the most fun.  A person I never met before gave me something small like an herb seed.  They didn't even say anything to me.  I found myself giving them something back that was worth a little more.  They then did the same and it went back and forth like this six or seven times.  I think we finally got up to one of us giving a Focusing Orb. Then, *poof* they tp'd away.
Never, in any other game I've played, have I been part of a giving war.

  • Too many kindnesses to count!  That way overbalances the one or two mean things I have experienced.  My first day (during Beta) stands out because it formed my view of "Glitch".  On that day beefcake was very kind and helped me find my way.  Later after the first Reset (since I began playing, not the recent one) he helped me again with some Bugs.  I had help from several other players and Devs during Beta and other players continue to be generous and kind.  I am very grateful and try to payback whenever I can.

  • A recent one that made me smile was when I was up in... Callopee or Pollokoo and was bouncing around and someone accidentally gave me a Ruby instead of donating it. So I hopped back up, asked if he meant to do that, he said no, so I gave it back and went about my day. I ran past again (I'm an avid hopper) and it happened again. So I stopped, hopped back over, and asked if it was a mistake and he said "Nope. This time it was on purpose because you were honest". And that just gave me warm fuzzies all over the place.

  • I always try to gift people and share Random Kindness whenever I'm out and about. If they say "thanks", that's cool but not necessary. I just enjoy sharing. Every once in a while, someone gives me something in return which is fun but not why I do it. I just love sharing. :-)

  • I sometimes feel bad about it, but I've stopped saying thank you when bestowed with Random Kindness most of the time.  It always seems to happen when I'm fully focused on some goal or destination, and many of the times it has happened I was already preparing to switch streets before I noticed, so I've just stopped worrying about it, mostly.

So if you've ever hit me with RK and I didn't acknowledge you, know that I am thankful -- I'm just oblivious when I'm truly focused.

  • Coming back into this game after beta, everything was practically brand new for me once more. I mentioned I was saving up to buy a 50K mansion, and 2 wonderful glitches I'd known for all of 10 minutes gave me something around 30K so I could rush off and buy it before the housing shortage hit. <3 Thank you! I've paid it forward several times since then.

  • @ Saiai: I had something similar happen!

I think I was donating over in Lustan Cautions but I happened to be standing directly in front of the shrine. Another player suddenly started giving me musicblock after musicblock and a bunch of gems, so I asked them if they meant to be donating them instead. When they said they were, I returned everything and moved out of the way. Then they gave me a sapphire and said that one wasn't a mistake but a thank you. :)

  • The most recent Glitchy kindess I've received (out of many):

I mentioned the other day that one of my oldest & dearest friends had visited my house and played my Game, not realizing it would disappear after being played. I posted that I was looking for SWF bits and was willing to trade. Not 5 minutes later, I had a Game to replace mine, a Game to give my friend, and a Game to play (I hadn't played one yet). Two complete games & two Fs to complete the SWF I had already. All from very kind, generous Glitchy friends.

Glitchy peeps seem to be by and large a very helpful, generous, kind bunch. I'm proud to be a part of this community.

  • I want to *smilehug* at my favorite person on glitch. Though I respect this person too much to say names/gender. This person is a staff member, I will say that much. S/he was the first person I met on the first quest, and s/he made me feel like this is an awesome game. So far, I've come across some pretty cool people, but s/he was first! Lol. Thank you, you know who you are! ;-)
Also thanks to ALL of the staff and devs, of course for making this game so fun!

  • I have had many wonderful experiences on this game, but the best was when someone gave me everything I needed to cook. EVERYTHING. I was stunned and so thankful. I also received a goody bag with which to give my sister and every common cubimal :). There are other things as well, and they are all just as great, but these were the biggest.

  • There are too many to list. Every day someone goes out of their way to do something nice. That is unusual for MMOs.

I include the folks who cache goodies all around Ur and who do so just to be giving, without wanting credit or recompense.

  • Not too long ago someone appeared to empty their bags on me, not only giving me a few small food items and music blocks, but then he started giving me all his tools.  I said thank you, and he moved along to another street, and then as I was selling the tools, it occurred to me somebody's younger sibling might have just decided to be a jerk and give everything they had away, or something like that.

So that would be the most anyone ever gave me spontaneously.  He just also gave me a creeping feeling of guilt.

  • Oh my yes Lorelei - too many to list! I have had friends buy me a house both in beta and when I wanted to move to a bigger house in live! People have sent me cubimals just because I didn't have any, and emblems when I needed them! It never ceases to amaze me and make me SO glad to be part of such a wonderful group of people! I sure do (as someone said earlier) really try always to pay it forward as it just continues the wonderful cycle! Like smiling at people you don't know in RL! They either wonder what you are up to or it makes them smile too! :D

Oh! I remembered one seemingly small thing, but it was a big deal to me at the time - in my first day of play, still learning how to jump, etc, I was stuck in the mines - could just not get out - and someone came to get me - I didn't even know them, but I just said that I couldn't get out in Global Chat and they asked where I was and let me follow them out!

Yep - we have some dang awesome people in our little world!! And +1000 Mr. Eh for mentioning our wonderful staff and devs who are the foundation of making this place the funny, happy, beautiful amazing place that it is!!! Special *HUGS* to all of them!!! :D soundcloud.com/theremina-lu... Theremina sums in up most beautifully in this great song!

  • Recently, someone did me a major kindness; they helped me out with a rather hard to find item.  In helping me, the person's only motivation was to bring joy to another (which is exactly what it did!).  I also find myself sharing and helping out more glitches because of the kindness this person showed me.

Also, thank you (person who shall go unnamed) for the earthshakers!

  • Being nice is actually one of the best parts of this game. Whether receiving or delivering kind acts to other Glitchen, it always makes me like this game even more. The best thing that happened to me was as I was trying to do the Bog Harvesting Quest I simply could not get enough done in the time required. Lx and Kiddiepool (random stranger Glitchen) ran with me all over the place trying to make it happen with 2 other folks. I was ready to give up after at least 10 tries and thanked Lx and Kiddiepool for their attempt but they wouldn't let me quit. After a few more tries Coffeesnob joined up and we completed the quest for me and for her. The whole thing took at least 20-30 real world minutes. Those guys are all awesome. I try to return the favor all the time by crafting full bigger bags for newbies with tools, helping others with quests, and ahem...other secret things.

  • Everyday glitchen are nice to me in big and small ways and makes it a joy paying it forward.

My bog quest - i hadn't even figured out how to speak to other people in the street, someone just walked up to me, asked if i needed help, and then corralled a whole group to come help me. And even though it took over 7 tries in 5 different streets, they stuck to it to let me complete the quest.
