The Subconscious (Future Implementation)

I've posted some ideas in various threads, mostly about increased in-game presence of the giants and more rewarding exploration. I think an idea that addresses both of these would be the closest Glitch gets to a dungeon; the Subconscious.

A collection of areas specific to each giant, representing an exploration into their psyches. I would imagine no combat but maybe some perilous zone conditions (like the winter chill) that would require some significant skill investment. It would essentially be a way to tell a story of each particular giant while representing their personalities in the actual areas you are exploring.

Unlocking the area could also be a challenge It could be an integrated world event, a series of quests could unlock the zone hub, and favor donations could play a key role in enriching the new area. Requiring certain buffs to move forward into a deeper layer of the subconscious could stimulate the drafter economy in a similar way as other MMOs.

  • i like this.

the idea could be implemented in lots of different way, although i have a slight obsession for the SNES game "Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past" and would like to see the "light world/dark world" mechanic of that game get some play in glitch somewhere.

i mean, maybe the subconscious of a giant could be an existing glitch world location, but twisted and pulled into some surreal shape representing each giant's nature.

like, imagine Groddle "sprigganized", with the general layout being the same but with SUPERMASSIVE versions of the existing trees that you could crawl around in and explore, root systems busting out all over the place and vines all over the place. The Forest third of groddle might be puffed up and overemphasized compared to Meadow and Heights. still Groddle, but exaggerated to what it would be like if Spriggan alone was imagining it, undiluted by the thoughts of other giants.

or the same thing, but Humbaba. what would Humbaba's version of Groddle Forest be like? Maybe Meadow is puffed up in size relative to the other thirds, and just crawling with animals absolutely everywhere, increased in size radically from their 'basic' versions you normally see. herds of 4 times normal sized pigs, with huge mud patches all over the meadow for them to roll around in.

or Friendly. friendly seems kinda like the cool, cocktail party giant .. so maybe in Friendly's version of Groddle the towers at Gregarious Grange and Louise Pasture get blown up to 4 times the size, made up all ritzy and cool with lounges and red carpets everywhere, spot lights at the bottom of these colossal structures with the meadows, forest and heights pretty much an afterthough.

zille, heights becomes a super mega surreal exaggerated mountain.

tii, the department of ministries turns into into a megastructure, a technocratic dreamworld of computers and micromanaged interactions where a little robot flies around behind you monitoring and recording your every movement, handing out tickets for inefficiency, constantly counting the exact number of steps you are taking AS you take them.

you know, things like that. each giant's totally out of proportion "take" on a recognizable landscape.

i'm sure you could re-imagine Groddle from any giant's perspective and come up with something compelling and made only more crazy/exaggerated/dreamlike in it's contrast from good 'ol familar groddle.
