How to Keep Happy, Healthy Piggies?

So I know that you need to feed piggies in your yard so that they don't croak (Do piggies get to squash grapes in piggie Hell?) and someone kindly informed me that piggies only need to be fed when they're unwilling to be nibbled. But how do you know your piggies are unwilling to be nibbled if you've already nibbled them as many times as you can that day? Is it a good idea to feed them once a day regardless? Or is their desire to be nibbled not reset each Glitch day?

  • You can set up a piggy feeder, available at any animal goods vendor - just fill it up whenever it's below 71/80. I fill it with grain, but you can use any food that it'll accept.  :)

  • Oh, you don't need remote herdkeeping for that? For some reason I thought you did. That makes it a lot less stressful to make sure my piggies are content. :3

  • Yeah, I've lost my share of piggies due to miss-managing my resources. But not so much lately.

  • You need remote herdkeeping.

  • Yeah, I'm working up to remote herdkeeping, but I've still got a ways to go. D: In the meantime, how can I best ensure that my piggies are well fed, without feeding them unnecessarily?

  • You can plant trees (cherry, bean, spice) to feed them; they eat off of trees. They also eat off of the ground, so you can leave food on the ground for them :)

  • i think you can just leave food on the ground and they'll eat it.

i know they restricted the number of collectors you could have, but can one keep multiple feeders? i left a full feeder in my yard, didn't log in for a couple of days, and came back to find piles of meat where most of my piggies used to be...

  • Will they eat what's on the ground before they'll eat off the trees?

  • I'm not sure, Mahkia.

They've lifted restrictions on collectors, BeatFreq. And you can keep multiple feeders. Idk why your pigs might have died :\ Maybe the feeder wasn't close enough?

  • Can piggies be fed bubbles? I'm asking because I have a bubble tree in my yard and I would prefer if my piggies weren't eating all the bubbles off of it, but I don't know for sure if they will or not.

  • The piggy feeders say they require remote herdkeeping (RH), but I don't have the skill yet, and it seems to be working in my yard (piggies seem to be eating out of it, and I can fill it)...I can also have the collectors, but I just can't collect anything out of them until I get RH.

  • Very interesting! I may have to look into this myself, though I do wonder if the devs are aware of that. While handy, I would hate to be exploiting a potential bug.

  • You need to pet the pigs every now and then too... feeding isn't enough.  But for feeding, just leaving some stuff on the ground is usually good enough.

  • do they leave seeds for stuff they eat off the ground or out of the feeders?

  • @artilect I have 5-6 pigs, and I haven't gotten any plops from my pigs that way, but another player told me he gets some plops from his 30+ pigs.
And idk if this has anything to do with it, but I feed my pigs grain in my feeder; he feeds them grain and meat.

  • @Artilect  I don't know if it was from the veggies I fed them or if maybe they got them from my garden, but they've left seeds of what I've fed them (corn & spinach) when I examined the "Plop" that they left behind.

  • hmmm I am yet to get any plop's from veggies left in feeder or ground.  I'll keep trying but maybe only works if you hand feed them.
