Gaming the Shrines

Awhile ago I noticed two things.  When donating to shrines, the size of a stack of donated items seemed to have no influence on the chance of receiving a Game Show Ticket, and that even items that garner zero XP and Favor would still, on occasion, reward me with a ticket.  So, here's a little test.

MATERIALS: Stack of 250 Grain.  (AK6, so 10 Chickens worth of squeezing)

PROCEDURE: Donate all grain to Shrine of Lem one at a time, then use all resulting GS Tickets.

GRAIN RESULTS: 250 Grain netted me 27 tickets, around a 9:1 reward ratio.  Used all tickets simultaneously, in the massive slowdown that resulted only 18 Wheels being usable.  The other 9 Wheels vanished before being activated.

WHEEL RESULTS: 2 Tickets, 1 Bean, 565 Currants, 8 XS Music Boxes (1 set and extras).  The two extra spins got me another Bean and 500 more Currants.  I already have a set of boxes at my house, so I donated them all back to Lem for a total of 1188 XP and 430 Favor.

I've done this a few times before, maybe not as regulated, but the results seem pretty consistent so far.  Donating small items individually gives out massive amounts of tickets and boxes.  (Point of reference, donating that same stack of 250 Grain in one click gives me 72 XP and 25 Favor.)  It's a pain donating over and over again, but the benefits gained seem worth it to use what is pretty obviously a loophole and/or exploit in the game.

I'm posting this to get it out in the open, because I love Glitch and want it desperately to succeed.  What can be done to fix this?

  • donating 250 grain one at a time took how long? spinning all the wheels took how long?

i can think of at least a couple ways to earn 450 favor worth of stuff in like, 5 to 10 minutes.

I don't think this is broken at all. sounds sub-optimal, even.

  • I guess it's partly a question of automatability - this would be incredibly easy to automate.

  • with a keyboard macro, sure. maybe.

but not really, since the shrine spits out the tickets along with other stuff into random inventory spaces, so the process of sorting the beans from the blocks from the tickets would still be tedious.

  • The combination of a macro and the API could prove powerful.

  • you'd still need to squeeze the chickens manually.

easier to figure out the timing on a sparkly rock, mine while it is present and meditate during the regen phase. then fire and forget the keyboard macro.
