Herb Yields for Fun and Profit!

Now that herbs have become so useful and desirable, I've started to really pay attention to my yields and I've noticed a few patterns. Some herb plant harvests will only give you one plant (or none at all!), while others will give you at least three. But when you 'shuck' those herbs, those same low harvest herbs will give you 2-3 seeds, while the high level harvest will give you just one.
Each plant also takes a different amount of time to grow, so it is tricky to optimise a planting schedule.

Here's what I've discovered so far:

1 harvest = 1 plant = 2 seeds*
Plant these herbs in high numbers to get a decent harvest.
  -  Rookswort (5hrs)**
          - used for: Essence of (5), Rook Balm (5), Tree Poison (5)
~600 currants in AH for 1***
   -  Hairball (4.5hrs)
          -  used for: Essence of (5), Ancestral Spirits (10), Keycutter Tonic (5)
          ~500 currants
     -  Rubeweed (4hrs)
        -  used for: Essence of (5), Ancestral Spirits (5), Door Drink (5), Keycutter Tonic (5)
        ~ 500 currants
      - Gandlevery (1.5hrs)
         -  used for: Essence of (3), Potion of Animal Youth (9), Rook Balm (3), Antidote (3)
          ~300 currants

1 harvest = 3 plants = 3 seeds
These you can plant just a few rows of these, and still reap quite a harvest.
    -  Yellow Crumb (9hr)
        -  used for: Essence of (6), Charades (6), Rainbow Juice (3)
        ~300 currants
    - Purple (1hr)
       -  used for: Essence of (23), Amorous Philtre (23), Door Drink (23), Potion of Animal Youth (46)
       ~100 currants

1 harvest = 3 plants = 3, 4 or 5 seeds
For some reason, this one plant will give a variable number of seeds, so I've placed it in its own category. Has anyone else found this to be true?
     -  Silvertongue (7hrs)
        -  used for Essence (4), Amorous Philtre (4), Ancestral Spirits (8)
        ~200 currants

As you can see, choosing which herbs, and how many, to plant at any given time is important. If you are going to be near your garden, you should plant high turnover herbs, such as Purple or Gandlevery. If you'll be away for just a few hours, plant your Hairball, Rookswart or Rubeweed. Gone overnight? Time to plant Yellow Crumb or Silvertongue.

Fellow Bog-dwellers: what is your planting strategy? Which herb do you plant the most? The least?

Back to the garden I go!

*Yields based on having Herbalism II- Unsuccessful harvests and shucking are more common with Herbalism I or no herbalism skills.
**This is the maximum amount of time it will take the plant to grow. Obviously, this can be sped up with attentive watering or guano.

  • I was gonna say just go and farm Purp w/Guano, but I just saw the prices on Guano, and it might be better to just farm poop instead of herbs altogether, imagine that.
