No more quests?

So I've upskilled a few times, but I have not earned any new quests for those skills in the last couple of days.

I am 1 ghost short of the Faded Heart quest (went to everywhere in the Wiki and am still missing one), 1 secret place short of the Jethimadh Tower quest (ditto), and can't seem to please any tree enough. I'm running out of things to do that aren't repetitive or require a higher skill level.

Any possibility on getting more quests in?

  • For the Please a Tree, you need to find a tree that looks somewhat less than healthy. It is easy to tell with many trees, like Gas, bubble, or egg, that they are not "level 10 trees" :)
(very hard to find a cherry or bean tree that will trigger that quest)

Not every skill has a quest attached to it, but with a quick peek at yours I can say that tinkering will have quests, I see you only have up to tinkering one.

Every cooking/beverage making skill also has a quest attached to it.
Mining 3 should have a quest, as should higher levels of gardening.
Definitely Herdkeeping and Animal Husbandry have a quest each.
Intermediate Admixing has a quest, as does Botany.

    Good luck!

  • Biohazard: been leveling on cooking but didn't get any, also can't find any other beverage related ones asides from the one I already have.
Trees: I've been petting & watering whatever ones I see but none trigger it :(

  • Make sure you actually use the cooking skills you have. Some new recipes will be triggered once you have prepared the other recipes enough times.

  • I got so bored today I made one of everything in the menu XD
I got one of the Knife & Board achievements, but that's about all.

maybe I'll go on a cocktail spree or something. I certainly have enough currants to afford it.

  • The quests do slow down as you move up the skill tree. Many of us respond to this problem by finding other goals like trying to get more achievements or donate enough to get top speed on the skill we are learning. Contributing to a street project is another goal that won't come up as a "quest" but can be fun and challenging.
Some people also make up their own projects. One day I decided I had too many cherries so I was going to give 20 to each person I ran across near a start street. I called it "cherry bombing noobs." That kept me entertained for quite a while, until I started needing to restock my cherries!

  • I agree with Niqster. I've been going for the Completist achievements while waiting for or working on other quests.

Note: I am a questaholic. I hope the devs can keep up with me.

  • I may be wrong but I think the Please A Tree quest involves the opposite of what Biohazard suggests. I think you need to pet/water a tree that's already at full health... although I know a lot of people have had difficulty with this one, plus the trees are getting petting like crazy right now and so I would have expected this to be simple to tick off... so maybe I *am* wrong.

[certainly wouldn't be the first time]

Either way, the best thing to do with that quest is just ignore it... you'll achieve it eventually at some random tree.

As for things to do when looking for stuff to keep you busy (I'm not sure you can ever actually be bored in Glitch!), I'd second the 'making one of everything'. It's fun cos you get the XP for discovering every new meal. Plus it helps you along the way to all the "made 23 meals" type achievements and unlocks new recipes. Gives you good stuff to donate to shrines too - so you can speed up those skills and/or emblems.

The wiki has good info on quests: http://www.glitch-strategy.com/wiki/Quest
If you go in through the skills you'll find out which quests are triggered by which skills: http://www.glitch-strategy.com/wiki/Category:Skill

  • I think the best way to please a tree is to grown one in your own yard. After not to many waterings, you'll be there. In my experience it was very unlikely to happen to get one up to full health by watering randomly, which I did for a long time.

I also wish there were more quests. Now that the skills take so long to learn, I rarely get new ones and quests are what I find the most fun. I like Glitch a lot but now I'm kind of at the what-do-I-do-now stage.

  • Rook Museum and Gwendolyn are also in Jethimadh Tower. Try finding street building projects, those will keep you busy busy.

  • OK... let me tell you guys what I did today.

I found someone a couple of levels lower than me and I followed them around - and not in the creepy way either.

We wandered through the Heights, the Forest, fell through the Great Hole To Ix and generally had an absolute blast. I helped them out with their quests and I answered questions and offered advice. Did I get any badges for it? Well, no. But it was the most fun I've had in the game for days. If you're looking for something to do for a couple of hours I'd thoroughly recommend it. Glitch is a great game and when you share it, it's even better (IMHO).

And re skills taking a long time to learn... Better Learning. If you haven't maxed out on that yet, then I'd suggest making it a priority. It's not sexy but it pays off in the long term.

ETA: I'm not suggesting that everybody has to do what I did (although it's pretty much win-win I think if you do). But as you advance through the game and the skills have learning times sometimes measured in days, I think it becomes more important to find your own quests (quest with a small q!)... set yourself tasks or look at the achievements page for things you haven't achieved yet. Think of things that the rock's shown you which you particularly enjoyed and find a way to incorporate more of that into your gameplay. Personally I find the more social (*) I become in the game, the more open-ended it becomes.

(*) not necessarily being friends with people, but interactions with other players... auctions, gifts for newbies etc

  • I've been thinking, for the last week or so, that it would be nice for the pet rock to just give you random quests.

Just to keep people interested, y'know? I find "do these x different things" to be a lot more fun than "go and harvest 13689 bean trees in order to get the next badge".
