The inability to be in Hell together is a game breaker (for me)

Is there some trick to ending up in hell with someone at the same time?  I have been to Hell repeatedly over the past few days, but have only ever seen 2 or 3 people in Hell at a time.
For starters, I thought the limit of people in hell at a time was raised. So why were there only 2 or 3 in each Hell?  Avery and I tried several times to end up in the same Hell...from dying at the same time, to dying at the same time in the same place, to dying at the same time in the same place while in a party........nothing we did would grant us the same hell.

Please this has to be fixed.  Taking our ability to have a Hell Party is so NOT COOL, and IMO a game breaker.

  • Not to mention dying in the same place, at the same time, in the same way (no-no) while in a party. No matter how we tried we couldn't end up together.

    Hell used to be awesome.

  • Agreed. A few days ago, I posted a photo of me in Hell. By myself. That wasn't fun. No one to race or show off my ballet. I was sad.

  • If you want parties in hell, you should be forced to play on slower connections and see what it's like not being able to move on the occasions where you're wanting to get out fast and there are people all over the place.

  • That makes no sense to me. There are 5 times more people on any street at any time than in hell.

  • Evil, we aren't upset that there are different hells. And to ve clear, I do play on a slow connection. It takes about 10 minutes for me to get in game and isn't unusual for me to get booted.

What we have a problem with is that it is seemingly impossible to get into a hell with your friends. There have been many player suggestions I would be happy with that would still allow those who want a fast escape to have it yet allow those of us who like yhe Hell tunes and shenanigans to get that too.

favourite thing I've read on glitch so far:

    Hell used to be awesome.

  • No offense to anyone but saying it's a "game breaker" to not be able to go to hell with your friends seems silly.  I enjoyed the naked hell congas in beta as much as anyone but from a usability standpoint I can totally see why they don't want a bunch of lag in hell for everyone else.

To my mind it's just one of those things that ended with the beta, like the Rube and his neverending offers, or Goodnight Groddle playing across the world.  It was super fun while it lasted but as Glitch grows up things change and we gotta roll with the punches and find NEW ways to have fun.

  • Innie, there are lots of streets that are not crowded, that rarely have more than, say, five people on them.  I moved from Groddle Heights up to Bortola because traversing some of the streets in Groddle on a slow system (particularly Alpine Heights) is so horrid; Bortola is much more peaceful.  The new smaller hells aren't crowded enough to lag me out, but the old single hell very often was.

I hope that TS finds a way to let people who want to congregate in hell.  Maybe all the instanced hells could have doors into The Seventh Circle, which would be non-instanced and have all the properties of the Hell we know and love.  So you'd have to die and then go through the door to have your naked grape-squishing conga line, and people who were dying in the normal course of things wouldn't be mobbed.

  • What Avery said......I just want the ability, somehow, to land in the same hell with my friends.

Also, I said it was a game breaker, for me.  Hell is a sad and lonely place now. It used to be fun!

  • Prefacing a comment with "no offense" makes it no less offensive. As a matter of fact it makes me think you understand exactly what you're doing in making an offensive remark.

The Seventh Circle idea is one i would be completely fine with and have suggested before. TS has been very quiet about their Hell plans thus far (only thing I've heard is "Ve patient" which does leave hope) but with any luck they've got something excellent up their sleeves.

  • "No offense" is shorthand for "I am going to say something contrary to your opinion but it is not intended to be rude."  Because it wasn't intended to be rude or offensive.

I used to really enjoy mining and no longer do, since all the changes to that.  I could keep pounding the forums that they "broke" mining for me, but I accept that the way mining used to be just isn't the way it is anymore and I need to find other aspects of the game to enjoy and not endlessly bug the devs to make things the way I liked them.

My suggestion is to roll with the changes and instead of grieving or kvetching over what was, keep exploring and finding new things to enjoy about Glitch.  Ultimately I think it makes for happier Glitches and a happier Ur.

  • If I were to make a completely uneducated guess, the limit is there because if you end up in hell and there are too many people and it is nigh impossible to find grapes (or deal with it because of lag), you don't have the option to just leave (like you would on a normal street). You get trapped there.

Not a big issue for someone whose been playing for while... but if you were a new player it could be extremely confusing. Possibly enough to turn one off from the game. "I'm dead and all these people are dead and can't get out? Well, I'm logging off."

The options to correct this would be:
    (1) To make a quick escape option. Which destroys the concept of hell in Glitch. Sure, it's easy no to get out, but that's part of the joke: You have to do an endless chore that actually isn't that endless at all. It's funny and cute and adorable and dead on the Glitch-y spirit. If you could quick escape... the concept becomes empty.
    (2) You could have an explanation of the what is going on and why you shouldn't panic or be discouraged. Also destroys the feel of the thing.

So, for me, removing on aspect of the game (partying in hell) is by far the best solution.

Perhaps they could make a seam street that you can enter through a fiery door. A fake hell with all the physics and punishment but one that you won't end up in by mistake.

  • Often times, when things get changed and the technical reasons for it aren't communicated in a way understandable to non-techie people, this is what happens.  Yes, I'm pretty sure it's how Lord Bacon-o describes it.  It's a lag issue and a potential to be "stuck" in hell.  Not being able to have a conga party in hell may be a gamebreaker for the OP, but lag and lack of grapes to get out will most certainly be a gamebreaker for a much larger population of glitches.  I support the change.

  • @Lord Bacon-o: You mean a kind of Hell's Annex? Hell's Lobby?

  • Hmm.  The gameplay updates for 10/5-10/7 say that hell can accomodate up to 21 players in hell, and that the 22nd person gets sent to a NEW hell...  Maybe something is bugged somewhere and instead of filling up each hell in succession, players are being dealt like cards to 21 different hells?

  • Yeh, I see what you guys are saying....I would hate a newbie to feel stuck and not able to get out :(

I would however like a seam street, or the ability to be in Hell's Lobby, etc.  I dont mind at all being punished for going there. That would make it even more fun. LOL

(Sindee, that is what I was wondering, too. Because there are a lot of different Hells, yet each one only seems to have none to 3 players in them)

  • I think that anyone who is afk for more than 60 seconds in hell should be booted off by God.

I'm in hell right now and there is  10 people there including myself. Everyone is afk except me. What fun is that?
