Some quick facts about Quoin Multiplier cards

So I was trying to decide if buying the Quoin Multiplier cards were worth it or not, well I found the potential "break even point" for a variety of scenarios.

Each scenario assumes that you will collect you daily limit of quoins, and that you are ONLY collecting iMG quoins with a base value of 1 while your mood is "FULL".

If you collect 100 quoins a day you will be able to buy a 1.0x multiplier card and earn ALL the iMG spent on it back from quoins in a single game day when you reach a multiplier of 317x.

If you collect 150 quoins a day you will be able to buy a 1.0x multiplier card and earn ALL the iMG spent on it back from quoins in a single game day when you reach a multiplier of 211x.

If you collect 200 quoins a day you will be able to buy a 1.0x multiplier card and earn ALL the iMG spent on it back from quoins in a single game day when you reach a multiplier of 158x!

Of course you will most certainly start "breaking even" sooner with all of the iMG that you gain through various game actions. Also, if you are lucky enough to nab some iMG quoins in the Ancestral Lands then you can back the iMG much quicker.

But those are merely the bare minimum quoin collecting break even points. However, until you reach those levels of multipliers it is an uphill battle, but after you pass those marks your iMG will begin to soar and each subsequent multiplier card will be easier to buy.

So in closing, the cards are very much worth it if you plan on making the investment and  taking your multiplier to those levels, otherwise your iMG may be better spent on other things.

  • I'm not sure I agree with your math here. The marginal value of a 1.0x card is only 1.0 per quoin, so if you collect 100 quoins that's 100 extra iMG. If a 1.0x card costs 40,000 iMG, it would take 200-400 days to break even.

  • @Hagbard

If no one ever upgraded a Quion Multiplier it doesn't start at 1. I think it starts at 8 from what I heard. I don't know.

  • Hagbard - he's saying they'd be able to break even in one game day once they reach a certain multiplier - fir instance, 317x.  They'd be getting over 317 iMG per quoin.

  • Aurora is correct :)

Also, from what I have read an iMG quoin's base value is 1.2 if  if your mood is "full" (which I believe is above 90%). So by the time you have a multiplier of 317x you will be able to earn 380.4 per iMG quoin (1.2 base x 317 multiplier) and 100 of those quoins would give you 38040 iMG. Which is almost breaking even (I rounded to the first decimal).

  • Keep in mind you can stack reaping of returns, such that if you buy 2 upgrades, they will hit positive ROI at the same time.

Also, the base iMG coin value is 1. This is then given a +20% boost for mood over 90%, along with you quoin multiplier. Rounding is done last, to the nearest whole number (e.g. 2.9 would round up to 3)

I'll get the starting multiplier off my alt that was level 5 at cutover.

  • Is the +20% mood boost added or multiplied by the multiplier?

For example if you had a multiplier of say 17x would you receive 17 or 20 iMG per quoin?

    (1 base x (0.2 mood boost + 17x multiplier)) = 17.2 rounded down to 17
    (1 base x 0.2 mood boost x 17x multiplier) = 20.4 rounded down to 20

  • This math supposes that we want to see the multiplier pay for itself in a single day.  However, we get to use that multiplier for as long as we play Glitch - forever, in theory.  According to my math, if you are able to play 5 gamedays a  RL day, and manage to pick up 100 regular iMG coins per game day at max mood, then each multiplier will pay for itself in a little under 3 months.  Therefore, if you plan on playing 3 months or  longer  and collecting coins, coin multipliers are a good buy no matter how many you have.

  • By the way, for those who care, the correct formula for iMG coins collected at max mood is:

Quoin Base Value * 0.2 (mood boost) * Quoin Multiplier

This makes the 0.2 gained from mood much more important than a 0.2 Multiplier Card as the mood boost is multiplied and not added.

  • Ah, I forgot about the mood boost when confirming what Hagbard said. But it is true that you're not technically breaking even on the card after only one day. The amount you get from a quoin is the cumulative effect of all the quoin upgrades you've bought.

Each one only adds 1.0, or 1.2 in the case of img quoins, to the value of each quoin you collect.

While it is true you'd be able to earn 40k in 100 quoins when you had that quoin multiplier, the term for that wouldn't be breaking even, because you'd have to earn 33,333.333 img quoins to break even on the single upgrade that took you from multiplier 316x to 317x. It's more you'll be able to buy another one in that amount of time.

Your point is still valid though :) Your quoin multiplier grows faster the higher it gets. It takes the longest to earn the first 100 upgrades, as your quoins aren't worth as much yet.

  • Duh I still don't get it.  Are you saying its a waste to buy unless you buy 100 upgrades?

  • Forgetting the math that is involved I have been stacking my Quoin multiplier and it is almost at 100x

I have every other upgrade so its either energy tank or quoin multiplier. I have the 150 quoins a day upgrade card and I make 3 Ancestral land trips in a game day and total over 50,000 img from those trips. It is nice having the luxury of being able to make a trip to the AL and grab a quick 15,000 to 20,000 img!

  • The benchmark of needing to pay for the multiplier upgrade in a single game day is a bit misleading, since the multiplier will be a permanent boost for your glitch.

  • All I was trying to do was figure out how high of a multiplier you would need in order to be able to buy the upgrades without needing to save up for them first.

  • I noticed today that the Upgrades page on our profiles still has all the multipliers listed as percentages.
