Ways to make money

Mining and creation of diamonds shouldn't be the only and best way to make money.  Higher levels of cooking with unique ingredients or different trades should make you a lot of money as well.  People should be able to kind of decide a career path for the game and the more they follow that path the more money they can make from the skills they have learned.  What do you guys think?

  • I think money are not the most important thing in Glitch. Sure you can make alot, but it is game and as most games main objective is to have fun. In previous game i played community was awesome until people started to focus on best gear and ingame money. It was sad after.

I do not want this to happen to Glitch.

  • You can make a decent living from cooking & selling. Selling your meals to vendors gives a nice profit, but some food sells good at the auction, too. Same goes for drinks.

  • The creation (mining) of diamonds is far from the best way to make money in the game.

  • I've seen the same thing as Lilla My and agree. It might not be here in full force yet, but mindless moneymaking competition seems for some reason inexorable in unlimited-multiplayer games.

Maybe this is a bit radical, but if there were some kind of ridiculously easy way to make money, like an easy-to-learn Currantminting skill, making money will be a trivial task and no longer as fiercely competitive. I suggested in another thread socially (not numerically) rewarded means of obtaining the same things currants can buy. Or NPCs that trivially give out huge numbers of currants, if you really needed them.

As an example, I must congratulate the Dev team on largely successfully doing this with xp/levels. Arguably, unlike many games, Glitch has avoided being an xp grindfest. I personally would love to see the same done with money. After all, the premise of the entire world is that it is all imagined in the minds of giants. It doesn't make sense to be cutthroat with imaginary currantcy, so to speak.

  • Just save up
    Buy a house
    Use the yard
    AND ENJOY THE GAME.

If you concentrate on making money then stop playing coz money here is not everything, not llike other games that the richer you are the stronger and popular you are.

  • I make way more money than I need to survive through cooking. Every time I play I probably give away 10,000 currants worth of stuff, donate another 10,000 worth and still my currants balance grows. I am consciously avoiding things that are profit making because I don't need all that money. I have not ventured up the mining tree above Mining II and I hardly ever mine at all. If I was willing to tend my garden I could make a living off raising crops with my skills, but I am too lazy for that. I want to wander around all of Ur and pet piggies.

  • You can make plenty off of a hunter-gatherer lifestyle too -- harvesting from the trees, nibbling piggies, milking butterflies.  Some of those basic harvestables go for way over face value in the auction house, and the others stack up nicely for donation.

What the OP is suggesting already exists -- if you develop your animal skills to a high level, you get loads of animal products, plus valuable bonuses (musicblocks and such).  If you develop gardening, you get loads of tree products, plus a slightly different set of bonuses.   And so on.

  • And what would we use the money for? There is really nothing very expensive in this game
