I always just tend and replant. I'd rather have the freedom to go anywhere.
If you have neighbours, friend them, and mail them their gifts which is what I do/did. This time around I am dirt poor for some reason LoL, but eventually as I increase my productivity, my friends list will all get a package in the mail once in a while.
As for decor, do it inside the house. I keep my lawnmower in my basement laundry room in Real Life now because I have had two stolen from my garden shed. At least your glitchy Garden Gnome can't be picked up and taken away LoL! Mine was XD. What anyone would do with my gnome... Maybe they thought it was Gnome Choamsky?
How are they going to sell a house in one of these communities if they can't let potential buyers in to view the houses? I don't think TS can afford to hire someone just to escort shoppers in to view the houses
lol, I love this idea. Not being sarcastic, either. It's silly, but that's what I like about it about it. Snobby virtual country club society. Let's do it 8)
A gated community could work as something for subscribers only that wouldn't piss off the players. The houses there would be mansions and each mansion would have a vault that only the owner can access.
TS has said repeatedly that subscribers will not get any in-game advantages over free players.
I suggest that those of you who think a gated community is a good idea simply buy up all the houses in a particular residential block if you want to have neighbors you know you like.
On the other hand, if you think that this would keep out free players, then it's not likely to be something that will be coming any time soon.
I don't like the idea of it being subscriber-only, but I do like the idea of a gated community country club where I can buy virtual lemonades at marked up prices and play Glitch golf.
