"Are You Sure?" option

I don't remember exactly what the context was, but I accidentally gave away my Emotional Bear :( I think I had clicked on someone and accidentally hit "give," and before I knew it it was gone. I was in the middle of a Quest involving it, too! Then I spent a while running around searching for a Hardware Vendor, and then raising 300 currants to buy the Bear (I had just bought a house). What I'm saying is that every action has a consequence, and my suggestion is that there could be some kind of comfirmation button after you select certain actions--for example, trading, or giving.

  • It's a tricky balance, right? On one hand, you don't want to throw up confirmation modals for every interaction, but at the same time not wanting to accidentally screw something up because you mis-clicked.

I had several similar experiences feeding potatoes to pigs. I'd harvest a garden full of potatoes, then feed some of them to the pigs to get more seeds. Several times I accidentally clicked or hit enter on the "All" option, feeding a few hundred potatoes to a single pig. Obviously that's something nobody would ever want to do.

Maybe there's a way to add a property to weight certain actions as "risky" and show a confirmation dialog?

  • Perhaps you could be alerted if you're in the middle of a quest that requires a certain item and you try to get rid of it?

These could fade away as you level up, though — by the time you're several levels along you should really be well acquainted enough with the game that any mistake is your own fault not a misunderstanding.

  • I'd like there to be a confirm dialog before spending favor to speed up skills. I just wasted all my favor with Zille by misclicking on the dialog.

  • Or maybe player flags for items they don't want to trade without confirmation boxes? I've donated stuff I had no intention of doing... and with no way of getting it back, that seems a mite harsh.

  • Maybe it could be a setting in your profile to choose whether or not you wanted warnings. I accidentally donated something from my bag - I have no idea what - by pressing enter a second time when I was trying to donate to a shrine. I thought the first time I had pressed enter hadn't registered but it was just that there was a bit of a lag before the window opened - by the time it opened something was already donated!
However, I don't think I'd like how much things would slow down if there was warnings everywhere. Where would you have / not have them. Singing to butterflies is a costly mistake to your energy if you don't need to do it - and one I've made more than once - but again I would hate to have to confirm my every action within the game. I think I would rather just learn from my mistakes - I now take care when interacting with butterflies and shrines - but it would be nice, especially when you first start out, not to make such costly mistakes.

  • The problem with singing to butterflies would be easily solved by simply moving "sing" to the top of the list instead of having it at the bottom. The only times I ever want to sing to butterflies are when I'm wandering the Ancestral Lands. But there are certain items that you just really never want to sell.

I would suggest that you could lock bags so that items cannot be donated or vendored from them. That way I could lock down my tool bags and food bags and never have to worry about accidentally selling anything in them.

  • I like the idea of locking down bags and also it would be great if the 'Sing to' was at the top of the verb list.

  • I think that simply moving the "default" would be a very easy solution. Several times, I have fed one piggy ALL of my zucchini/spinach/whatever because it just seemed to default to that first choice. My intention was to feed it one or ten, but when I clicked the food I wanted to feed it, it read that I also clicked the "all 80" selection. If the "just one" had been first, it wouldn't have been a problem.
