SUGGESTED RULES FOR PLANTING

Edit: so the tree huggers everywhere took the title as an offense. I don't want to feel like I need to walk on eggshells here, but just so everyone knows: it was not the intention of the thread. I was merely suggesting a way for the tree lovers and the patch lovers to be able to coexist.

1) Do not plant bean trees. Ever.
2) Never plant near the projects. (Right now this means not planting in jethimadh or alakol)
3) Do not plant in every single patch of an area. Leave some empty patches between trees

  • @Hazmat: In a pre-live situation, the solution is not for the players to argue, but rather to help the devs find a situation for frustration in play.

    Good point!
Well since we're talking land use (yep we are) the devs could zone streets, area, regions, continents, etc. that have specific land-use requirements, ie. zoning.

Zoning info can be provided in an info window and, ore powerfully, the actual restrictions can be programed/coded to prevent using the land for activities not allowed by zoning.

Then, we can all get back to having fun!  :)

  • What about some areas that just DON'T grow trees. Ever. An entire area, not just a street or 2. Loads of patches though. Seems like that could work.

  • You mean, like, it would be impossible to grow trees there? That seems kind of odd. I mean, patches that can't grow trees? That's too much of a band-aid, IMHO.

  • It's the same idea as doing digs on hillsides or pits instead of patches.

  • Nuknuk.... I put out these ideas about it almost a month ago.

  • How about a ravaged polluted area where nothing grows... but slowly depletes mood like Wintery Place? It wouldn't solve anything or be an actual band-aid but would be an interesting area and option.

  • Ah, sorry Travinara, i hadn't seen that. Obviously i like it.
And Cupcake... not sure why it's a bandaid... it's more a new element to the game i would think? I mean, not all trees can grow in every area --- is it that much of a stretch to imagine that some areas just couldn't grow trees at all?
And Lord Bacon-o... i like it... naturally there would be some quests there to complete... sounds pretty cool.

  • Nuknuk, I meant no offense, and hope none was taken :) My point was, patches are there for trees, whether or not they have added benefits. And yes, there patches with limited tree options, but at least some trees can be planted. I don't know, I think we're just looking at it differently, just seems to me that a patch that can't grow trees....I don't know, defeats the purpose?

  • No offense taken... and you need to join me in gardening IRL... oh, there are patches that can't grow trees :P

  • I think Nuknuk has something there to keep every one happy. Some patches can grow trees and some NEVER could. Would that not keep everyone happy? Seems such a simple solution to the tree/patch/patch/tree/kill/don't kill/ patch/tree/kill. See it keeps going round and round in circles. This way you can still plant trees and even kill them, but would still also leave project people free to find patches really available as well as killing trees. Seems like a statous quo to me :)
