Too much to eat?

I've just had a message saying I'm too full and won't be able to eat much more today!  :O

I've been doing lots of rock crushing, so using energy up... but if I lose all my energy and can't eat anymore, what's left to do?

Except for sign out and wait until tomorrow... not much fun eh?

  • Try eating cooked or prepared food? I think you only get full from eating raw ingredients.

  • If you've got a get out of hell free card you can die and come back with a full tank
Buy an energy tank upgrade - even the smallest ones fill up your tanks

Try to avoid the feeling full message - I believe it's on the number of times you eat rather than the overall amount. So it's better to eat a stack of meats in one go than 6 meals of 10.

You can normally eat a fair amount more once you start getting that message

  • OK will try, thanks :)

  • Nope, just tried eating cooked stuff... same message :(
Posted 6 months ago by Rock Bunny Subscriber! | Permalink
  • YOu can still eat a little more after that second message (you probably got one earlier saying you were starting to feel kinda full?).   Dying with a card is definitely the most efficient way to reset.  You can meditate or get energy quoins (try the ancestral lands!), which should keep you going through the rest of the game day....   and people can give you RK.

Also, stop crushing rocks without flaming humbabas!  They exist for a reason.  ;)

  • You could use no no powder rather than eat to get energy - or collect energy quoins.

  • Once you've triggered the limit, there's really no way to go back.  The above suggestions of more energy dense foods (i.e. prepared and cooked foods) and larger meals (though I'm not sure about this one) prevent you from hitting that limit so quickly.

For the rest of this gameday, you should be able to get energy from meditation, random kindnesses, get out of jail free cards, energy quoins, pretty much anything but food.

Not sure about energy from drinks, I seem to recall Sirentist reporting something about this so maybe she'll weigh in later. (Or someone else who remembers that post better than me, I've still got the morning groggies...)

  • Some methods to regain energy through non-food items:

    1. Consider Emblems.
    2. Revere Icons.
    3. Meditate (Focus Orb)
    4. Go to Ancestral Lands for high-yield energy quions.
    5. Munch a sprig of Gandlevery for an energy boost every 15 secs.
    6. Or, if available and you so choose, use an energy tank upgrade card. :)
Posted 6 months ago by Hellyeah Subscriber! | Permalink
  • don't forget that emblems can give you energy but only once on any game day same as icons. Keep a set on you for emergencies.
A no-no, get out of hell free card cycle can work well for large grinding activities. Also if its grinding or smelting don't forget to stock up on drinks to stop the energy loss. Faming humbabas for grinding and face smelters for smelting.
Also many of the drinks have temp buffs that replace energy.

Each food item counts as one meal. therefore one meat is the same as one awesome stew and the same as one bean... so it pays to have stacks of awesome stew made at 200 energy per meal.

  • 99% sure that super pooped status is based on straight-up energy earnt from eating - not "per item eaten," nor "energy density of food."

The amount of energy you are allowed to recover per day is around 15-20 times the amount of your Max energy. Sniffing No-No counts towards this, but I'm not sure if energy spent while in a no-no rush does (any energy you use is instantaneously reimbursed).

Once super-pooped, you can't restore energy from eating. You may be able to restore energy from non-food items such as emblems but I've never tried.

  • There's a cap on how much you can eat a game day?!?
Posted 6 months ago by iDylan Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I thought super pooped was when you maxed out on no-no for the day. When you can no-no no more.
Posted 6 months ago by jiva Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Super pooped is not only related to nono :) Nono just happens to be one way to cause it. It occurs when you spend, I believe, 20 times your tank in energy in one day. It just so happens that all the refilling and emptying of your tank while on nono causes you to consume a lot of energy ;)

I believe the eating cap is similar. I'm not sure it has anything to do with how you eat or what you eat, but is simply a number like ten times your tank. That one I'm less sure about, feel free to correct me if your experiments say different ;)

  • I have exactly this problem if I crush and then eat to recover energy.   Flaming H's help forstall it.  I don't try to match the amount I crush to what a Flaming H. will handle (about 250 chunks), I just drink the drink and then crush as much as I normally would (600 chunks.)   The drink will leave you with more energy at the end so you don't have to eat quite so much to get back to full.  Thus, you can grind much more before feeling full from the associated eating.

  • oohh well I've never done that :)
I guess in this case a bigger tank means a bigger multiplier and less chance of poopage.

  • Rock Bunny: "..not much fun eh?"

    I agree with this.
The way mood and energy work now it really is less fun.
You constantly have to consume things to counter your mood, but if you consume too many things to counter your energy you hit a wall.
I love a lot of things about Glitch but I really feel they've made the game less enjoyable with these two factors.

  • It doesn't seem like much, but eating 20 times your max energy is an incredibly difficult amount to spend. You probably should take a break for your own health after that point anyway.

  • I just ran into this problem tonight.  I had no idea there were limits to how much you could eat.  Holy Cow!  I think TS is acting more like Zynga...building roadblocks, micro-managing, curbing players' enthusiasm.  If people commit to play the game, why would they try to limit how much you can play?  It takes a lot of the enjoyment out of this great game.

Posted 6 months ago by IrenicRhonda Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It's based on your maximum energy.  If you've eaten 20 times your maximum energy in food already today then you've probably earned enough imagination to buy a tank upgrade, which will give you a tank refill and may let you eat more.

To the charge of Zyngafication, all I can say is that Zynga puts in roadblocks so that it can charge you money to avoids those roadblocks.  TS does not have a business model based on not letting you play their game.

All that being said, I don't personally understand what the point of the limit is.
Posted 6 months ago by Humbabella Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Humbabella, I would guess that this limit might serve to discourage single-action grinding, as does the degrading iMG one earns for performing the same action over and over in a single game day.

  • In future, consider using Flaming Humbaba cocktails? The buff gives you energy free crushing.

  • There's two limits regarding energy restoration.

One limit is energy you can gain from food per day, which results in the 'stuffed' debuff which lasts until newday. This will let you still use icons and let you be RK'd and whatnot to continue playing.

The other limit, however, is 'super pooped', based on how much energy you spent in a day? Or maybe it's restored, period? I dunno, but you don't need No-No to get it. I've gotten it in the past, and I know someone recently who got it very easily with a low max energy tank. If you have a low level friend, and you RK the hell out of them while having them use high-energy-costing transmorgification tools or cooking high energy-consuming foods (like meat tetrazzini) to gain iMG, they will suddenly go to 0 energy (if they died already once) and NOTHING can restore that energy, NOTHING. It will say in local something about 'You would have gained energy, but you are super pooped.' If you get this, you literally have to give up and stop playing the game till newday.

The eating limit, which I truly believe is based on energy, would make sense if it was instead based on quality of food. However, it's not. It doesn't matter if you restored that energy from meat and eggs, or from tasty pasta or awesome stew.

As for super pooped? Maybe they did that to curb the infinite use of no-no powder, but you could theoretically hit it through other more normal means, especially if you have a low energy tank.

I completely dislike there being a limit that tells you 'hey you can't play anymore for awhile' in a game. Like, I've never had Mario tell me 'Sorry, you have reached your limit on game overs, please turn off the nintendo and come back in 4 hours'. It was always my choice when to give up and take a break. Now we have games, Zynga being the worst about it, where now we are told when and how much we can play, or how vigorous we play it.

  • I don't think the limit has anything to do with single-action grinding.  It's true there are only a limited selection of actions in the game that let you spend energy fast enough that you realistically have to worry about hitting a limit, but that's a different issue.  If I stood by a barnacle all day, scraping it when it respawned, that would be brutally tedious but the energy limit would not affect me.

But I don't like the idea of trying to save people from themselves anyway.  If people like to play the game then they should be allowed to play.

I think the energy limit per day is not that bad to work around for most of us, but I can see how it would be really off-putting to some of the people who have posted on this thread.  You have to work your energy tank up to a reasonable level before you can stop worrying about the limit, and the limit hinders your ability to quickly work your energy tank up.

The only advice I can give for someone with a few hundred energy who is trying to build it up is to focus on high imagination to energy activities like animal interactions and avoid things like mining, grinding and all but high-imagination cooking.  Spend your imagination on energy tank upgrades (especially small ones since they provide full refills for little imagination) and ignore interesting upgrades until you get your tank to around 2k.

I think it's unfortunate that I am giving such advice.

  • Yeah, the balance of energy costs vs reward is extremely out of whack in Glitch, in its current state. Take cooking, for instance. If you wanna make a lot of lower tier foods, you get very little iMG but you still spend ridiculous amounts of energy (a lot of this is in the transmorgification process, such as milling the spices or fruits needed in many recipes). Yet another reason why people only ever make Awesome Stews, Tasty Pasta, Meat Tetrazzini, and so on. It's the only time the energy spent gives you a reasonable result.

Sure, making 800 Meat Tetrazzini may cost over 30k energy, but you get about 30k or more img doing so, and nevermind how much you get for donating it all with EHSP in the end. Ridiculous amounts. If you vendored it instead? Tons of currants. If you just made it to eat it? You would get enough energy back to restore well more than what you spent.

Now, if you made like 800 choice crudites or something, you'd have 800 very low energy return foods that don't sell for much, don't give much img to make or donate, and would waste a lot of inventory space. At the very least, it might give you your energy back if you ate it all, but it'd take you forever to eat it all since they still stack at like, 12, in your inventory for a far less energy return than the big recipes.

What is the purpose of the lower recipes? You create them at a loss when all is said and done. Even for low level characters, you're better off feeding them raw materials, such as meat. When the energy tank becomes too high for meat to be effective? Then it's awesome stew/tasty pasta/meat tetrazzini time.

  • These limits irritate some, and i can understand why, but in a game with no endgame there's no need to level quickly. If that's how one chooses to play thar's totally fine, but we have to br creative in our grinding ;)

  • It makes sense as a game mechanic to get players hooked. If new players spent ten hours straight one weekend playing with infinite energy, they might get bored and decide that's enough. Whereas placing limits on it means they play, get into it, run out of energy, are into it enough to consider coming back in (4hrs minus however much time had elapsed since the last New Day).

They come back when their Ur-energy is reboosted AND chances are they're a bit refreshed in non-Ur ways as well. Make plans to finish whatever they were working on when the energy is reboosted, and then feel like they don't want to waste all the rest of the energy. Form a habit where people play a little and keep coming back. End up with the game absorbed into the daily routine.

It's sneaky and I admire it.

  • I disagree Batsgirl.  There are some people who like to play games for many hours at a time, especially with the game is new to them and they are excited about it.  If you could structure a game in such a way that it made people want to play for only an hour at a time but want to come back the next day, that might work great.  But telling people who want to play that they aren't allowed to anymore does not build enthusiasm.
