Reminder: ideas forum

Hi everyone! Just a reminder about the shiny Ideas Forum. It seems a lot of topics get dumped (and possibly lost) in the General Forum - sometimes hard to see the forest for all the trees. Or however that metaphor functions...

Have a new idea? Or would like to suggest an improvement to an existing feature? Let's cage these creative beasts (and feed them fluffernutters) over there. :)

  • +1 on that. It's not just about messing the General Forum, but also that a lot of good stuff at Ideas ends going unoticed :)

  • Exactly! :D

  • Thanks chicgeek and Lexi for this reminder. Rest assured that *we* are reading the Ideas forum, and it's more than worth the trip for anyone who wants to see killer neurons in action.

We'll also be helping to make sure that threads get tucked into their proper forums to make sure they're not overlooked.

  • My only problem with the Ideas Forum is that whenever you post there nobody ever responds, and most the time people post to get feedback or others ideas.

  • I'm not over there as frequently as I am at general, but I do read them and I do comment and vote on the ideas. I know the staff does. They even vote.

  • FF, how do you and the staff "vote on the ideas"? Am I missing some "like" button or something?

  • @Lilith: voting is just typing +1 or -1 in a reply haha

  • Maybe we the ideas forum should have a +1 button (or a "like" button). Makes voting more convenient and easy to keep track of.

  • I don't ever want to meet a "killer neuron". Sounds like something from an X-Files epsiode!

  • Buttons actually short-circuit one of the main benefits of the Ideas forum.  When people add their opinion it gives more information about which elements of the idea are most important or least attractive.  And many of the ideas actually result in creative solutions when the community starts conversing about the idea, and not just "voting".  Grave markers are one of the more brilliant examples of this kind of community discussion and outcome.  The Rookish script discussion was another.

  • Ah, thank you for explaining that to me, Piratice. I had some delusional notion about voting being a one-ballot-per-person thing in my head. Silly old me! I had absolutely NO idea all those "+1x10^100"-type posts actually carried real, significant, measurable weight that affected the outcome of the developers' decision-making process. I just thought they were from ultra-busy folks who didn't have the time to craft a complete sentence expressing a unique opinion or adding anything of substance to a discussion. Hee hee! Kids these days! I am such a n00b at this newfangled 1/\/73r/\/37 thingie!

  • There is no real voting, but you're welcome to chime in with your opinions there, even if just with a +1 or -1.
