Multiple Realities

This is probably a non-starter as I'm sure the Devs are working on the street project lag problem but what if when streets begin to get busy the newer entrants slide to a separate version of the page? They still interact with the project and pigs and trees but only see the people in their own dimension. This I know will be confusing so some sort of indicator would have to show that you'd dimension jumped, perhaps the name of the street with a number ie Somewhat Sump #2.

    i don't like this multiple realities idea, for "premature optimization is the root of all evil" reasons but for other reasons as well.

    part of glitch's appeal is that it won't be broken up into multiple worlds, like so many MMOGs.

    you also run into the issue of:

    "oh, i was waiting for you in groddle junction!"
    "which groddle junction were you in?"
    "i was in groddle junction 2"
    "that one was full so i had to enter groddle junction 7"
    "ooooh"

    street lag is a technical problem with many potential solutions other than blowing away the continuity of the game space by sharding it up.

    make the game as technically efficient as possible to increase the max number of people per street, then create disincentives for overcrowding past that max and provide adequate space for all players so that they have places to go to avoid the crowds.

    then, if none of that or any other options work, then maybe consider sharding.
