It seems to be possible for people to enter houses when the owner is absent. I have had things taken from my house when I was away. Is it possible to have houses protected in some way?
Not able to test this right now, but was wondering if the statement is accurate alpha.glitch.com/forum/gene...
" a person "following" you can just go right inside without your permission and without knocking...."
If it is accurate, is it a bug or is it a feature?
To the best of my knowledge it is only possible for another player to enter your home when you are absent if you have given them previous access (re. section on home security).
@WindBorn .. I am the player that experienced this.
A player (unknown to me) apparently decided to "follow" me while I out in the worlds (no words were exchanged) the very same sec I decided to beam home to empty my bags. I live in in the Meadow where you cannot place your telepoint inside your house. Being in a hurry, I did not look and clicked on my door - imagine my surprise to see a stranger in there with me. The matter was settled, apparently he was just taking a joy ride not thinking he would end up in my house. But, a similar thing happened to a friend of mine, and she lives in newer housing, where you can apparently set your telepoint inside your house and she had stuff taken (got it back via the devs later, though).
It is apparently not a bug, just home-owner beware. Set your telepoint outside your house and walk a few steps back and forth before you enter.
The only info I have on the follow thing, comes from here: alpha.glitch.com/forum/idea... - so I know you cannot "shake a tail" and therefore blocking will have no effect on the following. I cannot help as to what exactly happens when you block someone, why not ask in the general forum?
To add my two cents, this has not happened to me, but I would sure like the devs to address the issue before the game goes live. Following is fun for conga lines and when you're trying to help someone get somewhere, but I think it's a mistake to be able to be followed without your knowledge and an even larger mistake that crossing the threshold of your house doesn't automatically remove the link between the two players...
Or if you are teleporting it would leave the follower at your front door. For instance if you are trying to teleport a friend to your house to share items with them or such.
not having a house, this is not an issue for me - but I think the name and shame policy will work well. Just name the people doing this and they will soon get a bad rep. It will make people more wary of them. Just my 2 tenges worth.
Travinara and I discovered today that you now have to knock every time you want to enter someone's home, not once per game day, as before. I don't know if they've changed the teleport/follow feature, though
