Keyboard "x"-key to be used universally for canceling dialogs, pick-lists, and pop-ups.

Please allow me to just hit "X" on my keyboard to cancel an action with a menu or dialog. So many times I'm trying to tab, scroll, or arrow through a long list of something, or quickly dismiss a menu that I elicited in error, and I just want it to go away immediately.

  • Escape doesn't work for dialogues like quest offers. So a universal "get me out of here"-button would be really neat.

  • For example: I had a Juju steal a purple sno-cone because the darn "new to you" dialog prevented me from doing anything from the keyboard until it was too late. I'm scrambling for my mouse and the cone is snatched away...

    GAH.

  • Escape *does* work for "new to you" dialogues, btw.

I would like for escape to work with actions like digging or petting/watering.

  • Esc would be better.

  • My escape key is a tiny chicklet, and hitting it is a pain. X is right where my touch-typing hands already are.

Besides, all those boxes have a "close x" on them, so why wouldn't hitting "x" on the keyboard evoke that?

  • I think the discussion if it'll be "x" or "escape" doesn't lead anywhere.
It's all about that I'd like to have *some* button which get's me out of every dialogue anytime. Preferably the same button.
