These are awesome, even if the first one really was terribly frustrating. But exactly the kind of thing I love.
One word of warning/possible note to the devs - when I finished the plant quest, it immediately gave me the light quest - even before I exited the first. Thinking there might be a reason for that, I accepted the second quest without leaving the first. Everything was fine until I finished the second quest. When it put me back in the first one (grow), it put me in the middle of a wall and I couldn't exit except to open the img menu and go home. Thankfully, I had already grabbed my rewards. :)
The walk to the light is an absolute nightmare. I didn't have lag before entering or after but lag in the quest made it unplayable. I had to levitate throughout. A lot of people have reported the same.
Ditto, Cleops. My jumps were smaller than usual, as if I were pooped, and that plus lag made it very difficult. And I do console platformers all the time!
I lagged like crazy in the walk into the Light quest, had to reload but it was only marginally better after, luckily I was able to complete it , Love the puzzle just not the lag. Grow was fine but no Rube one for me either, well not yet, Has anyone got it yet?
That's what it was Faereluth. The jumps were much smaller than usual. I am usually very good at jumpy jump things. I don't think I missed too much as it doesn't seem that interesting a puzzle even without lag or whatever it was.
I especially like the Walk Toward the Light quest (a little more than the Operation:Grow quest only because it was a bit short).
I really liked the fact that for "Walk toward the Light" you had to play around with the switches to advance to the next set of platforms, time your jumps before the lights turn off (turning on lights to make platforms is pretty neat too). Keep it up, TS! :)
I love the new puzzle quests (I liiiike puzzles), thank you!
On the topic of the 'The Wrizzards and The Rube', for player info --
I've tried to trigger it by: shucking 1 rubeweed for seed, munchin' 1, planting and harvesting 1 (in the community garden), donating 1, making an essences, then imbibing it and did a trade ... and nothing... the only thing I haven't had, is Rube to come to me in his own time.
ETA: I've also inspected the Rube shaped potato and .. "It looks like a potato that looks a bit like The Rube" (which i think is hilarious!).. and no, that didn't trigger it.
well a rare item trader popped up for me (the one thats face and all is completely covered) and said they needed something i think? but i ignored it not knowing cause i was looking for something, and then i went back and he said "never, you seem busy" ? im still kinda new to the game and idk if thats related to this or not.
I tried the Light Quest but had no luck from the start. I have the levitation skill but have never used it. Does it only enable you to rise staight up or can you direct your movement to the side?
This is the first quest/game that I can't seem to get anywhere at all.
The rube just appeared for me as I was chucked out of the ancestral lands - so a missed opportunity I think :-( . Had the other quests and am loving the puzzle element so thanks TS :)
The new quests are awesome. Hope they're repeatable too...
My question is: I was offered the "Walk toward the light" quest, and after completing it... nothing. Ideas what we need to do to get the others?
@Patricia. Leviation once you select that option allows you to use the spacebar and a little side to side motion. Try it out just to practice. You'll love it. Come in real handy. Have a fabulous weekend.
I cannot do the Walk to the Light quest at all. It is, as others have said, too hard to jump or walk far or fast enough inside the quest. Jumping is no problem anywhere else, so think it must be the quest.
It is a good puzzle, but just not possible to complete for me.
I will try it with Levitation, which I have never used before so will experiment.
I can't figure out the grow one.....really frustrating...I seem to get the plants as tall as they will go but ?? Just had a thought...maybe I should try watering them next time in?
I love a good puzzle! ~not so much the ones where you have to be quick/agile, but I totally love the ones where you have to look and take in what you're looking at, as well as thinking your way through.
Anatole, have a really good *look* at everything you see when you are in the 'Grow' puzzle, the answer is right before your eyes! ;D
I was told that the third quest was not behaving properly, so staff's trying to fix it, and in the mean time, it's just not available. So there's no need to do weird stuff to try to trigger it, though doing weird stuff can be fun anyway!
I love puzzles, but the ones in this game are falling flat for me. They're cute, but not challenging or interesting. It would be terrific if the lovely blue and green bog scenery in the grow quest were turned into a street style, though, especially if it had a lot of platforms to stand on. :D
I am so excited for these new quests!! FINALLY, something challenging in the game...more challenges might keep me around a while, since I find so many things in this game boring as I've progressed because so much of this game gets almost too easy the higher level you go. I don't necessarily want those things to change, because with all the hard work we have to put into getting to the easy stuff, it wouldn't be right for it to be even harder...but I am glad there is the introduction of new hard things, to keep my brain engaged. Have often thought there needs to be new and different challenges the higher your level (especially things that you can choose to do or not do), and I hope these are a preview of what is to come. I was worried when we lost the Rook's Egg Quest because so many people whined that it was too hard...but I loved the challenge of getting the timing right on that one even with the lag. So thanks for adding challenges, especially some that not everyone will like...please keep the game well rounded for everyone!
The Walk Towards the Light quest was a nightmare for me, I ended up giving it up near the end because I have poor timing skills and reflexes. I don't think I can ever complete it. While I'm glad that many folks enjoy it, the lag plus my horrendous skills make it difficult for me.
I did like the grow quest though, and I agree with glum that we should have that as a street style, as a bog lover, I'd be happy.
These sorts of quests seem a little 'bolted on' to me. Like the owner of a night club adding a sideroom and putting a few pinball machines and video games in it.
They don't add to the canon or really build the game much. Are we that close to release that this kind of content is what the devs are working on? Why not open the game now if that's so?
All the above said, new stuff is always fun. It just doesn't seem timely at this point.
I like the puzzle quests, but I'd like to see long term, world based quests too. Something that requires exploration, more like the "new skill, new quest" quests.
