[resolved] Rook's Quest Crusher Hit Area

I'm finding this quest to be incredibly impossible, partially because the crushers are registering a 'hit' way before they even appear to hit me - or if I'm standing up a hill from them they still 'hit' and send me back to the beginning despite them never appearing to touch me.

  • I agree. The rocks seem to 'hit' even when you're nowhere near close.

The solution to this quest is to jump up into the trees, but the voracity of the rocks is a little frustrating.

  • I had to leave the area. I could not get past any of the crushers. Even when they were not close to me they still registered a hit.

  • I'm able to get past the first crusher but that was the extent of my success, the bounding boxes of the crushers seem to be larger then the crushers themselves which makes navigation around them very improbable.

  • I've managed to get past the first crusher a couple of times but unable to get beyond the next. Maybe its just my connection, but my movement is too jerky to be able to navigate them.

  • I would however like to add that I love the dark style to the Rook quest. It reminds me of Limbo on the XBox360. Just wish I could play it without lagging :-(

  • I can get past the first two rocks... but it appears to register as a 'hit' if you are anywhere within the track when the crusher starts moving. Even when you jump to avoid the rock it still registers as a hit, despite bing mid-air.

As this is a fairly early element in the game... not fixing it will lead to frustration at a very early point in the game.

  • Same problem as everyone else; i can't actually get past the second set of rocks, regardless of how I time my movements, or if I jump, somehow the rocks hit me anyhow. Frustrating, but hey, that's why we are doing the testing.

  • Further to my above comment, I guess you've just got to climb into the trees, but it's hard to tell you even can climb into the trees here - the visual cues from other parts of the game aren't present here.

  • I actually like the increased difficulty. It took me at least ten minutes to figure out a path, and then repeat it without mistakes, but it was very satisfying (especially since the lag forced me to jump blind every now and then). It's very frustrating, but I think that's a good thing, since it's supposed to be the Rook's domain where things are dangerous. Let's face it, the rest of the game is very easy, at its worst it only requires a lot of walking and searching and repetition. This difficult quest is refreshing.

But the lag...the lag should not be happening.

  • I can't get past the second set of Crushers either and I've been stuck in the Rook's Woods for hours – I left it earlier on to see if running out of energy and dying would let me escape but after crushing some grapes I'm right back where I started ;(

I haven't set a teleport point anywhere yet and I can't seem to climb the trees; can anyone tell me how I can get out please?

  • This quest is intentionally harder than most of the others, but there are issues with the hitboxes that won't be fixed until we move to a new vector-based movement system (which will also improve a lot of other subtle things in the game). If you find the quest is just impossible, feel free to skip it for the time being. By the time the game eventually goes live, this quest should be a lot less bewildering to complete. Apologies to anyone who's having issues right now.

As for the lag, we're looking into that, but I don't know where we stand on getting it fixed. We're definitely aware of it and working on it, though.

  • I totally cheated with levitation.

  • before the lag issue was fixed, i managed to get past the second set without using levitation; the trick is to climb the tree next to the final two crushers and then hop from limb to limb. but it took me about 10-15 tries! worth it though, to smash that egg :)

  • the problem ins with the LAG!!!!!!!
