"when will it open?" threads

Sorry, guys, but these things get old. The devs will open the game when the game is ready. There is at least one of these threads after every single test, and it isn't necessary. Tests normally open Wednesday/Thursday. Please, be patient and leave it at that. Thanks :)

  • +1 sticky thread, if this is a major issue for people.

I'se genuinely confused. Multiple threads on the same topic, how is that annoying or irritating or problematic in any way? It's dots on a screen that no one has to visit. I feel a disorienting sense of having missed something.

Later on, I am certain the devs will organize and rework the forums -- separate threads by topic, better search, etc. Till then if I don't want to visit a thread, I don't. Its very existence doesn't bother me. Our little set of forums here is beta. It's not fully set up yet. I can't be the only one who doesn't have time to scroll through page after page of random threads before daring to post a new thread myself. I haven't posted a WWIO thread, but I really don't care if others do, or how many. I don't even have to click past a thread I don't like -- I just ignore it. It's not a problem or inconvenience to me to ignore something.

Things seem to sound harsher online than they would IRL when you can see people's faces and body language. If you could see me you'd see mostly confusion. Primarily because who cares? (obviously I'm on the "live and let live" end of the spectrum) -- but secondarily because this type of problem will take care of itself just by players being patient (to borrow the term) until the devs get around to upgrading the forums.

  • Well since I just posted a reply to this burning question I just went and copy/paste my reply and will paste it right here.

I personally don't like twitter and would much rather be able to have the information either by pushing a button stating game times or thread from staff in forum for game times.

This can't be hard to do and would eliminate so much rhetoric from people posting threads as to when game opens, closes, already answered, how dare you ask again etc. etc. etc.

I have to wonder why this specific issue has not been addressed since it seems to effect every player in the game.

    That was so satisfying LOL

  • @Supershero: because it bumps other threads down.

I extremely loathe how after every test there's like 2 or 3 new WHEN WILL IT OPEN?!?! OMG threads. I hate them. If I were a mod, I'd lock/delete them all the second I saw them. The forums already look ugly enough,  we don't need more spammy threads.

Make one, sticky it, and post in that one after every test. Don't create new ones.

  • I agree with Supershero. If minor things like this bother you on a forum in a game that is in beta, perhaps you shouldn't read the forums.
There are some things just not worth worrying about.

  • Posting multiple threads asking when the game will open is the forum equivalent of the whiny child in the back seat asking "Are we there yet?" every 10 minutes for a 6 hour trip.

  • Posting a thread is different from feeling you deserve the devs' immediate response as to the date and time of each and every test. Please don't repeat again that they should be happy about the enthusiasm, I'm aware. Of course they should be, and of course they are. That doesn't make it less obnoxious.

Of course, I'm speaking for me here, and how I would feel were I in their shoes.

Perfect analogy, Skwid. The parent isn't angry, or hurt, or whatever, but will end up mildly irritated.

  • Leaning on forum ettiquette (and hardfast rules in many cases) Questions that are asked repeadily and always have the same answer are handled in a sticky post/FAQ.

I personally don't like cutter and trust that news of new tests etc will come when things are deemed ready to do so - I vote for polite "please stop asking" responses with link to an "official" thread that adresses people anxiousness.

Regardless if the knowledge is useful or eagerly saught after - people are wasting their time asking constantly..

  • OK alright already, can anyone please just answer that one burning question in everybody's mind?

DOES ANYONE HAVE INFORMATION AS TO WHEN THE GAME MIGHT OPEN AGAIN!

    Thank you

  • I followed the @isglitchopen twitter feed (honestly the best place to find out!) and set it to send me a text message when it posts. This way I know exactly when the service comes back up. I also monitor the @playglitch feed since they usually give a few hours of warning.

  • I set up a bit.ly for people to spam at those who ask this question. Super easy to remember:
http://bit.ly/isglitchopen it forwards to the @isglitchopen twitter feed.

  • Perfect thank you Eye Wonder, now I can relax.  Well at least until tuesday PM, then back asking the same unpopular idiot question...  :)

  • @Skwid Wow, maybe we should come up with something to "spam" at all those who complain about that question!

  • +1 Audaria.  The last time anyone asked "when", an old post was dug up and used. No new ones were started.

  • Personally, those particular thread posts never bugged me. When I go to the forums, nine times out of ten I want to find out when it will be open again (I look instead of asking first). I do sort of agree with there being a sticky at the top of the forums page though.

  • An announcement box at the top of the forums saying whether or not a date has been set would go a long way. On the other hand, visiting the twitter page isn't all that hard to do either.
