earning credits

I think you should be able to earn your own credits in the game itself but very rarely. Maybe you can sometimes earn one or two credits as one of those prize things you get sometimes when you pet a tree or something like that so that the credits could slowly add up so you can buy new clothing.

  • absolutely, and I think there should also be a way to somehow work toward earning votes in-game!

  • Then why would anyone ever buy credits or a subscription?

You already get to play for free, which is huge, I think. ;-)

  • There's a game I play that turns subscriptions into in game tokens once purchased. Then, players that can't or don't want to spend real money, buy them from those that do. They sell way more subscriptions this way, among other things, this game could try something similar, but maybe put limits on it so people with real world money don't have too much advantage.

  • well there still is a point in buying credits or votes or whatever because you may earn like 3 as often as you earn a walloping big diamond and slowly it will build up so that you can buy another piece of clothing and it also will give more point in those prize things when mining, watering, petting, harvesting etc.

  • I can see it now... vote selling.
There are loads of flashy freebie clothes, so I really really dislike the play to money tie-in on credits.

Sorry but I can totally see someone coming in and playing and playing and playing to earn credits on a free account then selling it for cash in the real world. How can I see it? Because it happens in most major MMORPGs. I have a classmate who pays his rent by power-leveling and selling WoW accounts. At one point, the currency within WoW, EverQuest, and Half-Life has been worth more than the currency in real-life nations.

It will happen (as will real world cash exchanging hands privately for rare in game items), but by not allowing a mechanism to assign a real-world cash value to an account (aka accruing credits which you pay real money for through free game play) you'll limit the practice.

  • i think earning credits could be really cool, but it would have to be REALLY hard- something to grind towards, maybe when you achieve most of what there is to achieve at a given time and are waiting for skills to be learned. something like 30 bajillion currants for a credit.  or 2000 gnomes.  or 50k favor points with a certain shrine, payable only in emblems you've actually earned, not gotten from other players. (just ideas)

if the game stays invite only, it would be a lot harder to have people selling credits- i read an article in china that included a bit on people playing video games full time to help their first world brethren level up in video games. a sad state of affairs. i suppose people will still get in who do this, but maybe it will be harder?
