what skills will you learn first after reset - and why?  I"m trying to make a bit of a plan.

If this thread already exists, please point me that way.  I have looked.

  • 1. Teleporting ones  (at least to level 3)
    - Because getting around the place is important.
    2. The brown ones, harvesting and gardening things (all of them)
    - I spend my beta life harvesting, I enjoy it and will want to do it again asap.
    3. The scrolly ones (Bureaucratic arts and penpersonship)
    - so I can get my papers and write notes.
Hopefully I would have earned enough to buy some kind of crappy house by this point, so I'll need papers and stuff.
    4. Cow coloured ones (animal kinship - all) - in preparation for nicer house and piggy keeping.
*then finish of Teleporting (if not done so already) - because once I get a nice house I'll want to go back to it more often.
5.The water coloured ones (gasmog. fruit changing etc)
    - So I can transform some of the stuff I harvest for selling, so I can work towards a large house.
    6. Tinkering
    - useful for repairs.
    7. Mining and refining
    - I really dislike mining, but may as well learn it again at some point.
(I'll fit in better learning somewhere amongst these, as and when I can. I'll most probably do a couple of them early-ish, as that would be smrt)

Leaving the yellow cooking ones, medatation, herbalism and the engineering things to the very last - I pretty much never use them in game now, so they can wait.
Works out quite well really, as I'll just ignore the middle-ish bit of the skill's chart and focus on the rest of it :)

  • Start out with better learning, then on to teleporting, animal kinship, cooking, gardening, mining, tinkering, bureaucratic arts... gonna save meditation, etc., for later in the game.

  • *Better learning*1)Teleporting
    2) Mining/Refining
    3)Meditation
    4) Animal Kinship
    5)Harvesting and Gardening

And then after that it kinda gets foggy for my gameplan besides that Bureaucratic arts and penmanship are very last for me...( I will buy my papers in auction and why leave notes?)

I didnt mine until the end of this last test and man, oh man, I had no idea how easy the money was.

Mining and Animal Kinship is sorta my game plan and I feel like teleportaion and Meditation are just helpful no matter what direction you take.

  • For those of you who are thinking about what to do after reset, this complete list of skills by PurpleLogic may be useful to you.

My own plans are basically to get Remote Herdkeeping as quickly as possible, then all Teleporting, then all Gardening, a bunch of stuff in between, then Meditation, Cooking, Bureaucratic Arts, and Penpersonship last. Better Learning will be thrown in whenever it's shorter than the next skill I'm learning.

Why? Because I love to have meat and milk collecting while I'm doing other stuff. I'm not much of a cook or miner, so cooking, croppery, and mining aren't a big deal to me. I guess I basically like running around a lot fueled on raw meat.

  • Teleportation - to get around
    Mining - for currants
Better Learning/Bureaucratic Arts - for papers for house

Probably not in this order per se...but  those are the top three I'll focus on initially...then I'll worry about cooking, animals, gardening/croppery/botany (though I'll pick up a few of the basics of these to make life a bit easier in the harvesting areas)

  • Still debating the first one. But BL and the BA ones very quickly so I can use the subway and buy housing. TP I held off on and still barely use. Definitely loved my cooking skills. So, BL/BA I, then the basic cooking skills first. Also Fruit changing and the other three machine skills. Animal next for sure. Gardening too.
    Mining and the rest later.

  • Another good question.  Since I just went all random the first time, maybe I should plan out my reset too ... I'll still probably go with gardening/gathering, and house papers, and teleportation.  Lol ...

  • I've become pretty OCD with creating a strategy planbook for the reset.....ADDICT MUCH?

  • I'm doing BA1 first (for a house), then I'll stroll around and specialise. Probably cooking.

  • I pretty much go with whatever will take the least amount of time to do. I tend to change my mind a lot while I'm learning, so I have so many partially learned skills. Must be the ADD!  lol

  • Bureaucratic Arts is a Must!  I want to get a home as fast as I can.

  • I will probably do the same thing I did the first time -- build up AK skills, because I hate having to carry around lotion and catch a butterfly twice to milk it :)

Of course, I'll grab some other quick skills along the way.  A little cooking, some soil appreciating, better learning...

Might do some meditation early this time, since it's way more useful at low levels.

  • Since, in theory, there will be less pressure to cram a bunch of stuff into short tests, I'm gonna take my time. While I'm playing, I'll focus on some short skills to give myself some quests to play with and when not on I'll get straight to the BLs. I just want to get those done. This will probably put me "behind" many other players.
I also want to get right to herbalism so I can have a constant flow of Silvertongue for all those early achievements and quests.
