Notes from two open-game rounds; heavily seasoned by personal opinion

Hey all, I'm a new tester and here's what I'm noticing could be different or better. I didn't think a bug report was appropriate, so here it is:

Maps:
Please put the locations of subway stations on the maps so I can better plan my routes.
Consider creating a map overlay, maybe like a heat map kind of thing, that lets me see where I've been lately (and where I've never been at all.)

Energy and time efficiency:
Please clearly state the energy required to grind up mineral ore. Currently it's always a little bit of a surprise.
Please state the time required for each gardening crop. While I really appreciate that you made the farming as little like Farmville as possible, if the crops are going to be subjected to withering in the future, I'd like to be able to plan what I buy vs.what I farm in bulk to get the currants I need to buy the stuff that isn't feasible with my schedule.

Shrines:
Giants don't seem to notice whether a donated tool is almost broken, broken, or new. I probably shouldn't mention that. :)

Quests:

I'd like to be able to sort the quests into priority/ less priority so I don't have to hunt through the list for what I'm currently working on.
More NPC-given quests please? I'm sure y'all are on it.
And I'm sure you're working on some collaborative quests. I seem to have missed out on the street projects thing, which sounds like it was fun. (I don't actually like group quests, but that's a personal problem. It seems like there should be more in order to be more balanced, and to fulfill the social aspect of the game's mission statement.)
Make player levels visible. Or create some n00b-friendly areas where oldsters (I almost said "the 60's" which pegs me as a WoW person from way back...Glitch is way more fun than WoW! I know I have a lot of criticism here, but I want to make sure you know that this game is super fun and a step beyond other MMORPGs out there.) can hang out and get that damn 3/4/5 quest (and the collaborative May-December quests that I'm sure are inevitable) out of the way.

XP and badges:

It doesn't really make sense to get XP when you visit each subway station. If you've seen one, you've seen them all. Perhaps a shot of exploring XP the first time you visit the system from any station.
I think it would be funny to get a badge for getting your first badge! Call it "Achievement Unlocked!!!"
Consider spacing out the badges for grinding up elements. Currently the elements tend to drop from grinding at approximately the same rate, especially if you do big batches of grinds. It's just less special to get three badges in a row.

Anyway, this is all little stuff that I'm sure we've already been over in previous threads. But it's what I'm noticing, and it is my forum...comments?

  • Oh, and thanks for not requiring that I post my gender in my profile. I hate it when sites make you choose.

  • To see a player's level, click on their avatar or their name in chat and hit the little 'info' tab at the top right corner.

I like your ideas :) They make sense.
I'm neutral on the subway xp thing though :p

  • OMG PLUS A MILLION. ESPECIALLY TO THE GENDER THING. You should totally check out the QUILTBAG group I created. The G is for genderqueer individuals, and the U for "Unidentified," and when it comes to gender oftentimes I consider myself one or the other or both. Also, if you're simply an Ally and none of the above, well, that's one of the things the A stands for. :D
