Mining [ENTER] Priority

When mining it's often very frustrating when animals wander in front of a rock you're mining (if you are using key commands). Usually [ENTER] + [ENTER] makes you mine the rock, or [ENTER] + [ENTER] + [ENTER] means you help a friend. But when there's animals around, they (for some reason) take higher priority on the popup than the rock. Hence making fast-key-commanding miners pet pigs rather than get that elusive sparkly.

Clearly mining already has a higher popup priority than interacting with other Glitchen, but can you guys (Staff) please make it higher than pigs / chicken / butterflies / batterflies too? Pretty please?

  • Good idea! I agree, it's pretty annoying to feed my awesome stew to animals.

  • Or maybe we can have a "shoo" action to make the animals go away?

  • Or we could allow players to select priorities for themselves, based on their individual play styles (don't know how easy that would be to code).

  • agreed.

  • I think theres also a short delay between finishing a mining rock cycle and starting the next one where if you spam enter and theres another Glitchen within range it will IM that player.

  • If you use your mouse and click directly on your pick (twice) when near a node, you will bypass all other nearby animals. Leave your cursor resting on the pick and then it's not that inconvenient. Better than feeding undeserving animals, anyway :)

  • Didn't know that about the pick.  How cool. :)

  • I think allowing players to set their own priority would be better, as Technomancer mentioned, that way everyone is happy. (I also like the thought of a shoo command, Zurin. Maybe it could be a foghorn item? Haha!)

Why should mining have greater precedence than animals? Especially since miners can click on their pick twice to start mining but petting piggies has no such shortcut.

(also I find it funny that you linked to another thread on this topic that was in the ideas forum, but then proceeded to post your idea in the general forum)

  • @Zurin I thought about suggesting in some topic that they should give the #2 action (angry) the effect of scaring away animals near you. I didn't, though.

@Raktivist There is sometimes. You have to wait until the rock highlights blue again before you can target it. The exact time it becomes highlighted again seems to vary slightly each time.

@Singularity Whoa, I had no idea that was possible. Nice tip!

Edit: Well, I guess double clicking the pick isn't perfect either. The range is even less than pressing enter, and it says there's nothing to mine even when I'm standing right next to some ore after mining using enter. Maybe they can fix that.

  • Agree. Batterfly priority is a major hassle!

  • I have a problem with double clicking the pick similar to that noted by Mr. Glenn.  I'm sometimes told there is nothing to mine even though I'm standing in front of the rock and the rock is highlighted.  Also, sometimes when I start mining by double clicking the pick, the sofware will make me step back from the rock and then the next time I double click the pick, I get the message there is nothing to mine.

  • I've had that near the top of my list of suggestions which I've mostly kept bumped for a while now.
