  • Probably not so good because when the game starts again, if people start in hell, they'll be revived with 0 mood and almost no energy, even if it is a new day.

  • We'll all need koolaid. Lots of koolaid.

  • we would get out of hell before the last min of the game...

  • What we should do is have a pre party in the Wintry Place.
And have the real party in Hell One.

  • Lol hopefully! Except for the people whose game crashes... which happens to a significant amount of people due to so many users crowding an area.

  • ok. i might plan the next eow party in hell!!
    hoping others like the idea

  • Amusing suggestions. Wish there could be more done with the Wintry Place.

  • I want to party in ALL the weird places!

However, I like the idea of a multi-street party. Say we find somewhere with three or four streets linked by one streetpost, and use all of 'em. Folks can bounce back and forth between the streets with no problem, move streets if one gets too crowded/laggy, and nobody's stuck outside as Keymaster. (poor Fokian, you're too dang nice!)

Or perhaps a block party? One of your Friendly Local HOAs could all agree to open their homes (a lot to ask!), or just put up with all the noise on their street, and we party down in the Meadow or go blame it on the Alakol again. If folks on that street are willing to keep answering the door, multiple house-parties could work too.

  • Now that Dofsan Vex Quarter is fully open, I'd love for there to be a party there. I'd offer up my home, but I store tons on the floor there and it would be difficult to shift around. :P

  • I may be wrong, but I believe Hell is "instanced", meaning only a limited amount of folks end up in it before they create a new one. I think when we tried it the max was ten. (Anyone remember the specifics?)

Note also, if we are to believe @glitchisopen, the next EotW won't be 'til the 18th-ish. You have PLENTY of time to plan.

  • Some`where I started a thread previous to this test about a multi-street party idea. It's even been linked to in the event planners' group.
Posted 17 months ago by Fokian Fool Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The max is more than ten now. I've splanked at least 15 afk people in a row there before, trying to wake them up.
Posted 17 months ago by Millie Subscriber! | Permalink
  • oh. well maybe we could have a party in borrem summon 3100
Posted 17 months ago by GiaTori Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Maybe what we should do if we're going to do the multi street party is go to one of the smallsih regions on the map, like Ix or Uralia, so that the area in the party is easy to reference? Or, say, [areas that are] the underground caves in one region, or around Jedimah Tower, so it's easy to recognize as part of the party!

(People should also join the planning group so we can really organize a market fair as part of next EOW! This time was a little bit of short notice, but I bet we can have something good next time, given how long it'll be.)

  • I'm a member of the planning group. :) And if you check the forums of that group someone there posted a link to the blueprint I gave for a multi-street. :)

  • Yes, Folkian, you are, but for everyone else. :P

  • Hehe. Shameless plug :p

  • Multi-street party - that's going to be one hell of a conga line! :)

  • At least could be great for the outsiders, renegades and misfits that doesn't get much in the overcrowded official EOWs. Personally -and besides the EOWs are great- I'll really like some kind of alternative, smaller thing. I'm not sure about Hell, though -but collective massive suicide will be an interesting ticket for *any* party.. :)
btw, has anyone synch a party with music? maybe with grooveshark's playlist (also blip.fm or turntable.fm in the US) some glitchers could function as DJs while others hear it..

  • Umm. How would we feed the music?
Posted 17 months ago by Fokian Fool Subscriber! | Permalink
  • You listen on your own respective machines...

  • pretty sure hell is instanced, as LBO said earlier.

  • LBo -- the message says: Now we are done this test. The next one will last for a full week and begin on or around Aug 11th. Enjoy a little break!

  • I think a Hell party happened waaaaay back in early Alpha. Right before I joined in December. But I am all for finding new and interesting ways to party.
Also: All this talk of "End of the World" makes me think of Revolutionary Girl Utena. :P
Posted 17 months ago by Jhennauchan Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Hmm, we can't all get onto turntable.fm, it's only open to US users. There are some alternatives, though... perhaps someone might like to give 'em a try and report back?
Posted 17 months ago by Jennyanydots Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Should we wait before we determinate the street(s), you never know if there is a new street with most interesting feature, layout, or whatever fancy us. Probably perfect an EoTW party?
Posted 17 months ago by Milolin Subscriber! | Permalink
  • As long as we're talking about multi-street parties, why not have those streets be the streets with subway stops?  There could be parties in each station/station's street. :)  And imagine all the raucous partying on subway cars... :D

There have also definitely been Hell parties before, but I'm all for having one again.
Posted 17 months ago by Jannisary Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Cool idea, Jannisary :) It'd be nice to have an excuse to visit those places I've neglected recently via subway. :p
Posted 17 months ago by Millie Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Problem with a subway party is it interferes with people who are using it for transit and have no interest in partying.  The lag would be insane for them.

Let me find my previous party thread and post the link here. I'll edit and update this post in a moment.

Edit and update: Here's the thread. Note I suggest nearness to a subway (which actually the last Plexus party did have).
Posted 17 months ago by Fokian Fool Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yeah, I was just thinking about it in another Ideas thread regarding subway improvement and realized we could probably pull off a subway party even without a platform in a station.  Might also be interesting to have the "main" party officially move all at once from station to station, although that might be too much chaos.

Regardless, part of the reason why I like the idea is because, like the Hell parties, it could be instantly accessible to all beta testers.  I love the Seam Streets we've used for the past couple of parties, and the logistics have been proven to be surprisingly manageable, but it might be nice to put effort into the party, rather than the task of arranging transport for everyone. *shrug*

EDIT: Duly noted, Fokian, but the party itself is usually only for the hour leading up to the end of test.  Would it really be such a severe problem for everyone, especially when people would be spread out over multiple streets?  Answer: I have no idea! :P
Posted 17 months ago by Jannisary Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Even spread around the surrounding streets it still would likely be in the flow of general traffic. The idea is not to force people to be in the party if they just want to pass through. Accessible but not "in your face". :)

  • Feeling like an old codger, but point of historical clarification, this has been done. There was an EOW party in Hell during Alpha. People were desperately trying to get rid of their energy so they could join. However, given that the game dynamics are different now, it would definitely not "be the same."
Posted 17 months ago by Mac Rapalicious Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Fokian: Your point is completely valid, and I personally think it illuminates a central element of parties that's subject to debate: do we want to continue to have them in private areas (which are essentially limited to Seam Streets and people's houses) or could we ever have them in a public place (which could be almost anywhere and not require as much energy as far as accessibility goes, but risks inconveniencing people)?   I don't really feel one way or the other, but I do like thinking about the possibilities of each.  A public party would be interesting just because I can't think of a time we've had one, and offers different ideas (Invade one of the less populated parts of a Firebog hub, etc.).  It's also worthy to note that people are already planning public "parties" of a sort (a weekly market) that could potentially cause massive lag on a street because of their draw.  Don't know how likely that really is, but we're about to find out, no?

If we do stick to parties in more private areas, I'd like a house block party, so we can get the "multi-street" idea without inconveniencing people.

  • Block parties are a great idea. I know my neighborhood seems to be almost nothing but people I don't think have been playing for ages. By the time the next EoW rolls around I'll have my personal stuff safely locked away. :)  And that's in Groddle Meadow. I know of wonderful neighborhoods that would be great for a party. But I see a risk of egos getting in the way and peoples' legitimate concern about their belongings. But the Firebog and other swampy regions have beautiful areas that are worth showcasing. And all of them have good subway connections too.:D

  • A hell party is what I've been DREAMING of! Its easy to have infinite energy/mood there ... u just have to get yourself within a few XP of leveling before u die. Then once u are there level by giving everyone something or IMing everyone or tradeing with everyone, etc to get a badge and enough XP to level. With that out of the way the only thing left to do is wait out the pooped buff, at which point you can eat a spinach (which also lasts indefinitely) AND THEN THE FUN BEGINS! If you bring bags full of milk u can make tons of the very very stinky cheese and get rich. You could repair all of your tools, or grind thousands of sparkly. Cook up a storm?

What would YOU do at an infinite energy party?

  • My vote goes to the Hell Party but I do think there are multiple versions of it sadly so it would be a pretty small party...unless stoot in his infinite wisdom let us party there altogether for the night! ;-)
Posted 17 months ago by Morticia Addams Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Even though it was done in Alpha test, a lot of us Beta testers have not experienced such an event. Unfortunately such would require unplanned adjustments to the software to support an unofficial activity. I'm sure @stoot would like to oblige, but I really don't see it being practical at this time and it even might be counterproductive. :(

  • Thanks to Jhennauchan for being the first one to bring up the classic Hellish Party! Cant believe others hadn't remembered! It wasn't even that long ago; before the reset at the end on February! There's even a wiki article about it!!!

ETA: Who's certain that Hell is instanced now? Normally players pile up there because they go afk, has this been changed? Sure?
