sooo... my still

My favorite thing to do is make hooch. hooch hooch hooch. But I could use wisdom from my elder glitchen...

I put in 93 potatoes and the local chat tells me I just added 58 potatoes to the still. and the still says 493/500. I notice similar odd math when I add corn or grain. Is there any rhyme or reason to the delicate calculations when making hooch?

And wouldn't it be FUN if we could make FRUIT HOOCH?

Love,

  • I think there is some kind of potato to grain ratio going on that I don't understand. If you put 100 grain in and then 100 potatoes, then the number almost, but not quite hits 500. If you put  500 grain in, it doesn't hit 500.

  • The base measurements are: 1 hooch requires 14 "units". 1 grain = 1 unit, 1 corn = 6 units and 1 potato = 7 units. (Thus, 14 grain OR 2 corn + 2 grain OR 2 potato = 1 hooch.)

There are upgrade cards which increase the amount of hooch you can get from each ingredient. I haven't calculated the new measurements.

  • It won't let you add more potatoes than add up to 500 units - same way we can't eat All Our Food if our energy tops out halfway through.  So that's why all 93 didn't go into the hopper.  (You were able to add 406 units, and you already had something in there.)
Not sure why it couldn't add the final potato, though; at 7/per, that would have brought you to exactly 500.  It should be able to hit 500 - I hadn't ever noticed, as MoM4.5 had, that we don't actually do that....

  • But the still won't go over 500 or take anything that would make it go over 500, and there are usually a few units leftover from your last batch, since 500 is not evenly divisible by 14. So it will only take as many as will take it to as close as it can get without going over, and it takes into account what it already has in it.
