I have a common problem, well known by anyone attempting to scale the traveller leaderboards.
The Back Alley quest doesn't trigger if you don't enter the subways before getting your papers, but most players from the beta didn't bother, because they knew they had to get them first, therefore losing the quest.
Unfortunately, although someone pretty much officially said that the Alley didn't count, we have by now enough proof that it does. Someone reported it as a bug the other day, and was told it isn't a bug. But IT IS.
There are leaderboards, therefore the game must allow players to compete equally for the higher levels. Allowing the papers to be obtained before doing the quest, if the quest is needed for the leaderboards, is a flaw.
I have no experience in programming, so I'm sorry if I'm asking for something difficult for you to solve, but there must be a way around this.
You could remove the validity of the Alley, and remove also the location count from those who already have it.
You could assign the location to all of those who have papers but not done the quest.
You could make the quest appear for those who already have papers, and on visiting have a 'sorry, I was just checking that they were up to date' kind of conversation with the lizard.
Any Glitches with other ideas?
