Mobile Access - I know, I know, its early Alpha...but

Since this is a flash based MMORPG its unique in not only its great design, but also in the fact that it can potentially be played on multiple platforms.

One of the things I've heard multiple times from WOW players was their frustration that they couldn't play or do anything on their mobile devices with WOW. This weekend I got my HTC EVO and since it has Android 2.2 it can play Flash 10.1. I figured I'd give the game a shot on my 3g wireless service since I can play other games using it. Alas, it took too long to load and finally errored out. I'll try again on my wifi next test but figured that if your not thinking of it yet, it would be great to have it. In the coming year 4g is coming to my area so maybe that will work as well.

But I'm sure since you are world builders your already on top of it. Keep it up ladies and gents, looks great so far!

  • We were actually discussing in another post how the game could be ported to a mobile interface. It's certainly POSSIBLE, just have to convince the devs to do it... eventually. ^^

  • They're gonna have something for phones. I'm not expecting it to be the whole game.

  • Maybe we can check on our skill on phones, if they don't do the whole game.

If they don't do the whole game, I demand an API so *someone* can make the whole game for a phone.

  • (Where was the topic we were discussing this in, I can't find it...)

  • Yeah i looked too. To be honest I don't think they'd need to port just part of the game. Newer phones with 4g service should have the processing power and data bandwidth to handle this game. I'll test next time on my wifi to verify if the phone's processing power could even handle it, but if it could then all that would be needed would be to make sure that things scaled correctly at smaller resolutions.

But without mobile access would this game suck at all? No way, it would still be hands down the best (and only real) flash based MMORPG.

  • @Georgio Zimbabwe How do you define a "real" MMORPG?

@striatic But is the size of the bar optimized for mobile viewing?

  • The main page has a tiny learning bar.

  • At the right side of a massive page filled with content. :P

  • Scrolling a little to the right isn't a big deal.

  • "@striatic But is the size of the bar optimized for mobile viewing?"

on the skills page it is not, and the interface for changing the skills is sluggish, but you can do it already with a modicum of patience and a decent 3G signal.

i imagine it'll get optimized at some point but the current set-up is more than sufficient to test the concept of mobile skill management.

also, with the existing API someone could make an optimized mobile site for skill selection very easily. all the hooks are there.
