I've thought the same thing. It'd be neat if we could just "insert" short music clips from our computers into a cute little musicblock. They'd have to make it so the crab didn't like them though...
The problem with this is that it would have to be moderated, which would be a huge hassle. How do you prevent the whole of Glitch from inserting inappropriate things(hate messages, maybe even advertisements) into these musicblocks?
Also, how would these work with the crabs?
Lastly, the songs in musicblocks we have last roughly 10-20 seconds(not exactly sure). Is it really so necessary for the game to have to store 3-5 minutes of music per musicblock? Think of how many people play Glitch, and also how much strain that would put on the server.
Although this is an interesting idea which I would personally really enjoy, it doesn't make sense in terms of being part of Glitch gameplay. And for that reason, I don't support.
I'm sure TS would welcome composers and musicians who wanted to be part of the development team. The "work with us"link at the bottom of the page will give you a way to contact them.
But the copyright headaches that would come with allowing anyone to insert music into the game are almost insurmountable. I'd just as soon TS didn't spend its money hiring copyright lawyers to process the take-down notices and defend TS in court.
I'd still like to (somehow) get a little 15-20 second clip of prisencolinensinainciusol in a music block... or even just something similar on the theme with the drums and horns...
