The Instancing of Seam Streets

Not that anyone owes me an answer, but I am awfully curious as to why the new seam streets are instanced. I typically enjoy exploring streets and regions and rooms with my friends, taking pictures of us saying funny things, etc. With first the hell bar, and now with the 4 new seam streets... I just feel so alone

  • The reason i've seen is on some of the new ones (Piryan for example) have platforms that dissappear when you touch them, making it impossible to get some of the Quoins, and that just leads to madness,as they never regen until you leave

  • @Taco: Spinach. That is all.

  • non instancing them would require having the quoins respawn... imagine how many players would camp at those high value iMG quoins, making it virtually impossible for the casual visitor to benefit from them.

  • On the other hand, how cool would it be to jump on the switches to block each other!

  • The 4 new color streets might not actually be in the "Seam Streets" region/hub as the loading screen for other Seam Streets say "in Seam Streets" but not these.

  • I've only been in one of them, but it took me back to the same place at either end, so I'm not sure if it counts as a seem street.

If you exit through the same door you entered, you'll be in the same place.  If you exit through the 2nd door, you'll be in a different basement.

Perhaps they are a series of tunnels that connect the apartment buildings.  Too bad we didn't have them when we lived in Ur.

  • I'm not sure that's correct, WindBorn, just yesterday I went in the basement door, went through the seam street, and came out in the same basement. I think that was Egret Taun

  • Weird. I always get a new basement. What's random is that I always get a different street no matter what basement I start in :P

  • Ah. So it's all about the quoins then. I see.

The love of quoins is the root of all evil.

  • "If you exit through the 2nd door, you'll be in a different basement."

I can vouch for the fact that's not true.

  • My limited experience suggests each colour has a fixed exit, e.g. I seem to always end up in Sabudana Drama when leaving Griinolyza. But that may have been a coincidence...

  • OK... so the new streets need to be instanced for the Quoins.... but what about the Hell Bar? I wanna party in the Hell Bar with my friends!

(But it will get too crowded, you might say? Then put a max capacity on it. People will be left outside, then? Put a time limit, just like with the Ancestral Lands!)

  • I entered once (Piriyan), came out on at a different place, re-entered and came out a third place! It was great.

  • I found my way through all the new streets and all the basements just by entering and exiting the seam streets.  It took me awhile because I kept ending up in the same places, but it worked and burned up some of my hoard of keys.
