Let high-level players spend imagination on learning and projects

Once you pass a certain point, you end up accumulating way more imagination than you can spend. You've extended and cultivated your yard and street as far as you can, your upgrades hand contains nothing but keepables and energy tank upgrades, and the only purpose img continues to serve is to elevate you to higher and higher levels. Which is no bad thing, necessarily, but wouldn't it be nice to be able to spend that img on something as well? Here's a couple of ideas:

1. Convert img into skill learning time. While you're learning a skill, you can spend a big stack of img to speed up the process. You're basically imagining yourself into a more skilled Glitch - creative visualisation taken literally!

2. Use img to restore cultivated items or expand your house/tower. Again, you imagine the outcome hard enough and it happens! Instead of contributing one or more of the components, or performing the units of work with the requested tool, you dump in a big pot of imagination instead.

The feature could be accessed via learning a particular skill and/or buying a really expensive upgrade: if you have 250k img to blow on this particular upgrade, you're probably not waiting to spend it on anything else. Maybe it could also unlock at a particular level. Glitchen who can't/don't want to spend img on the activities above don't have to because they will still be able to access these aspects of the game in the way they do now.

 I think this is totally consistent with the idea of Ur as a place that we as players create from our own imaginations. Details of conversion factors and game balance left as an exercise for the game designers :)

  • How about spending excess imagination to help other players expand their yards and to help them build projects. 

    But you just know there's going to be an IMG donation feat eventually :)

  • Converting img to take time off of learning time, is a great idea.  Helping other players is good but i can see donating img to players as causing another imbalance if there arent restrictions on what the img you give can be used for. Replenishing resources with img is rather pointless, especially since others get img for fixing resources, so maybe for backyard resources only?

  • I had been tossing an idea around, along with some other Glitchen and the idea for a shrine on home streets came up. A shrine that is dedicated to a single Giant, and uses img instead of giving img.  The question then became whether there were Temples to the various Giants, and what happens if there is lack of donations? There needs to be an incentive to donate, and a reason why donations are needed at times for each Giants, im just not sure what that would be.
    Also rook attacks need to be revamped maybe stealing some img ?...either way....suggestions welcome.

  • I wouldn't advocate giving straight img to another player. I'd be in favour of using img to restore another player's resource, or help them build a tower or tower floor, or extend or add a floor to their house. Basically anywhere a project pops up that other players can contribute to, some or all of the contribution could be img instead of materials or labour.

    And sure, restoring resources gives img, but that becomes pointless when you are already swimming in it and can easily get the materials to put in. I'm thinking of an alternative option for those who choose to use it, where they can put in img (a LOT of img) and get some other reward for restoring. What that reward should be, I don't know - maybe a chance at a rare item, or something like that.

  • Agreed, we do need SOMETHING that takes img to do, vs. getting img from doing. After a certain point more and more of the playerbase will be of that demographic in the game. So really we need more than one thing. Giving img directly i'm not in favor of either, first and foremost that can easily be abused and cause an  imbalance.  Secondly it makes much more sense that everyone has to earn their own img, we do need more ways to spend it though.
