In the world of new housing I'd really, really, really love to see an option to build an Insta-Retrieval Pantry, a very large (on the inside) cabinet where I can store foodstuffs. When I stand in front of it and open it, it effectively becomes an extension of my personal inventory and I can just stand there and cook/make drinks with automatic access to all of the foodstuffs in it.
Inventory management isn't fun, but I understand the "play" effect of only being able to carry some of your stuff. When I'm at home, though, it's crazy tedious to spend 5 or even 10 minutes dropping stuff and picking up other stuff in order to make a few things, only to discover that the next recipe requires more juggling, all followed by trying to put everything back reasonably.
A similar workbench where I can access all of my metal, ore, wood planks, probably fiber, etc., along with access to my machines, would be great as well, though fortunately they're not quite as much of a hassle as cooking ingredients (where there are, what, 200 different ingredients?).
(I imagine something like this has been proposed before but searching didn't turn anything up.)
