Quest: Show the Wood some Lovin'

The first person to take a screenshot of themselves petting a wood tree with more than one "branch" in the wild and send it to me will get 2000c.  The second person will get 1000c and the third person will get 500c.  EVERY person after that will get 200c.

This offer will be valid for at least 1 month.

a) the wood tree must be IN THE WILD, not on your house block or in your backyard.
b) the wood tree must have AT LEAST two plank "branches" sticking out from the main trunk.
c) screenshot must include your name, the route you're on, and the "petting" action bar in action.
d) email the screenshot to DJPlaid.glitch@gmail.com
e) wood tree beans cost 150c from any gardening goods vendor.
f) wood trees get more branches the longer they are petted without anyone harvesting them.  Pet and water the tree often to get to the highest growth levels!  The first person to send me a shot with them petting a fully grown wood tree (4 branches) will get a special prize! This indicates to me that you are taking good care of a tree in the wild.

This quest is REPEATABLE.  You can send me one screenshot every 24 real life hours.  If you keep one wood tree in good condition, you can send me a shot every day for an easy 200c each day.

  • You'll get a lot of pics if people use fertidust to grow the trees o_o

  • Well, since my goal is re-population of wood trees, using fertilidust is totally fine.  Ideally this will lead to there being more than 2 wood trees in the entire world.  I can only do so much replanting myself.

  • In beta, every fully grown wood tree I raised up lasted at most one game day. I once razed an entire street for wood trees in Alakol and they were all gone two hours after I logged off ( I used a lot of dust keeping them alive for a while). What makes you think this'll work with higher populations of Glitchen?

  • well it's a hell of a lot better than doing nothing and letting them all die.

I've got two-four trees spread around the northern mainland that I'm trying to maintain.  Some of them are still there a day later, some are gone, but I'm just going to keep planting.

  • +20 points for encouraging lovin to the wood trees! We wood-lovers need to stick together. ^^

  • Stellar idea DJ. A smart and fun quest with a nice pay-off for the game-world.

I wonder if putting notes by the wood trees would have any effect?

[This is about where someone chimes in and points out that wood trees aren't actually useful for anything LOL]

  • I've found notes to be reasonably helpful :) Especially if they explain that the "Harvest and Clear" option flat out kills the tree and it won't grow back.

  • DJ Plaid: you are awesome. ;)

  • bumpin' this a bit since no one has done the quest yet.  That means there's still 2000c on the line!  and more, if you can keep the tree alive for multiple days in a row.

  • What!

  • I don't know how useful they are but I know you need wood to make ceder planked salmon. Why is there such a shortage of wood trees?

  • wood trees take a long time to grow, and they are much more easily killed than other trees. You have to have Botany skill and poison to kill off any other sort of tree, but anyone can chop down and plank a wood tree -- and it's often done by accident I think.

  • Did you put notes around the game, or do you expect that everyone still reads the forums now that game has launched?
