Please may chatting in game be changed so that instead of losing mood (and energy) we gain mood, As a social game this would make sense, it would allow discussion and conversations to flourish without the penalty of low mood.
I posted this comment back when stoot was doing the questions and answers session - But , sadly I do not think there was ever an answer given .. heres a paste of it -
thanks to everyone ;)
Also - Please let me know if anyone sees an answer to this question asked my others and myself : :
Will we get ANY RELIEF from the energy and mood drain when we are just in game socializing and chatting with friends ?
Many times I like to hang out with friends and chat - but it's difficult to do this when constantly getting drained of energy/mood.
WIll we get a skill or a potion or a , say , a couch in our house, or bar stools in a group hall- or SOMETHING that will enable us to chat and be friendly without penalty???
That energy drain is a subtle prod to continue playing the game, and I think the game should stay a game, where you actually have to play the game, rather than just degenerate into a chat channel. I would vote for keeping the energy drain the way it is.
My concern here is that there will be players who "chat" to keep up their mood but instead of contributing to actual conversations simply give the keyboard a good "asdgfh gfddddda qwertyuio asdfg" every now and then, filling the local (or global) chat with nonsense that drowns out actual attempts at conversation.
Well if they didnt want spamming they could only accept words in the dictionary and any other words qualified by tiny speck. Also only legitimate sentences. Any spamming would not increase mood.
I'm not sure how practical it would be to allow only words in the dictionary/words qualified by TS. If i chat with "oooooh sooooooo cooooool!" or "nom nom nom!" i wouldn't get any mood?
Also while the game is indeed all in English, people from all over the world play Glitch. If people chat in another language they lose mood whereas English chatters are rewarded?
And determining "legitimate sentences"? omg nfw!
While I do like the idea of mood boosts as a result of conversation, I don't know that it would be worth the amount of work it would take for TS to implement a system that successfully differentiated between 1)spammers who might abuse the possibilities wasdfgh!, 2)"legitimate" chatters (whatever that would be) and 3) chatters who mean well but get filtered out because they don't have the time to proofread their chat/or speak in another language.
ETA: Perhaps the Random Kindness could get a makeover. At the moment it seems to default to Energy unless that player's energy is full in which case it bestows Mood instead. (I could be wrong about that - that is just the the way it seems to work to me.)
Either way- instead of just BESTOW it could have 2 Verbs: Bestow MOOD or Bestow ENERGY and that way chatters could reward one another with heightened moods for hanging out and chewing the Piggy fat.
yeah, i gotta agree with kittyface that this is a good idea in theory but probably more trouble than it would be worth to implement. i do like the RK idea, and also think that rookswort essence is brokenish. if you look at the functions of the other essences, it would follow that rookswort essence could give you a longer version of the Steady as a Rook buff. as it is now, it doesn't seem to fit in the pattern of other essences. so i think a new potion should be created to give the Rook Armor buff, and rookswort essence should give a long lasting mood boost, which would make for lots of happy faces. :)
... like i said, the gaining mood achieves the same result as "not losing mood while chatting" but avoids all the problems of implementation that kittyface pointed out.
I suppose it would be ok if they gave you a little energy boost every time you entered chat into the chat box so long as it was capped at a daily limit (in the same way that energy gained from quoins and meditation is capped).
At this point, I do think you should continue to lose energy and mood while you are ingame and not doing anything (key camping for example) and afk. When the new housing and group halls come in, maybe then it would be ok to encourage people to hang out in public places (other than homes and group halls) even if they aren't doing anything. In that case (when public places may be otherwise deserted) you wouldn't want to drive them to log out of the game to chat.
i am still hopeful for some relief from the drain - I really didnt want to gain energy or mood from just chatting- I really would just like to stop the DRAIN . It's really annoying (and gets expensive ) to have to basically eat and drink alot to keep my mood and energy level up if I am doing things like , say, sorting my inventory and chatting on private message while i do it.
you guys are totally in luck - there should be a changelog update posted about this soon, but a change has been made such that you no longer lose mood or energy while in home decoration mode. so go, decorate, chat, and fail to lose mood or energy to your little glitchy heart's content <3 :)
