Piggies can't eat gas

Not trying to rekindle the spice/gas wars here, but I just thought of one reason that spice is good to have on a street. Piggies! As you may or may not know, piggies can be nourished when someone harvests a tree while they are nearby. No need to feed those piggies anything else if the street is populated enough. Piggies eat spice. Piggies don't eat gas. So if there are piggies on a street and the only trees are gas trees, I think you'll have to feed them other stuff or else they will die prematurely.

  • How many dead piggies have you seen on the spice streets?

  • I can actually count on one hand the number of dead piggies (small piles of meat I guess lol) I've ever even seen in game, but other people report seeing them. Don't know what the concentration per certain type of street is or anything, only that it apparently mostly only happens on dead ends and less trafficked areas.

I just had this thought when i was feeding a couple piggies on a 2-gas-tree dead end street in Kalavanna and was like "hmmm, what tree can I plant that they might could eat from..." and it got me thinking.

My only point here is a +1 for spice :)

  • Why spice?  What's wrong with bubble trees?  I guess I don't understand your insistence that spice is the solution.  Can you explain why you chose to support spice instead of any other tree they can eat?

Instead of saying:  plant stuff piggies can eat, so they don't die, you seem to be saying plant spice because that's better than any other tree someone can plant.

  • Oh, I see whatchyur saying. I should have been more clear. I'm talking about those contested areas where (i think) only spice or gas can be planted. Am I wrong? Can you plant bubble/fruit/bean trees in Kalavana/Ix?

  • I have piggies in my yard, and they nibble on my gas tree.

  • Hmmm, I thought I had experimented on that street enough to figure out whether they could eat gas. (harvested the tree while it was near me and no "yum" or whathaveyou... then tried to feed the piggy and gas was not an option)

Okay! Change point of thread to say that you should be able to feed piggies gas from your bags!!
    :D

  • Yes...I've never had the option to feed pigs gas from my inventory (wow, that just sounds so strange to say that lol) but they can eat it from the trees.

I've also noticed (tho this can be fed to them from inventory) that my full grown wood trees (when I have them) go missing an "arm" every now and then - tho I've not paid any attention to whether it's the pigs that are enjoying them, as well lol

  • I think it's the leaves of the gas trees that the piggies eat, not the harvestable "fruit."  I haven't noticed my wood tree ever missing an arm, but my piggies will eat planks if I leave them lying around.
