(Suggestion) Kitchen storage!

Main points:
Kitchen Counter: Display and use kitchen tools, without carrying them around.
Fridge: Store food, accessible to tools placed on the counter.
*neither would be accessible to visitors, like the cabinet*

I love to cook in games - and in real life - but all those tools and ingredients take up a lot of space!

-Most of us probably wouldn't want to leave our items on the floor if we're going out - especially if we have nosey neighbors! They'd see that mess, what would they think?
-Rather than store them all in bags, that we then put in our cabinets, why not have some decorative storage options that are functional, too?
-Like the trophy case, the "kitchen counter" would let you see all your tools, and use them, without clogging your inventory space.
-Instead of hauling around all your crops and various other food items, stick them in the "fridge"!
-If you're working on a recipe at the counter, your tools will be able to use ingredients from the fridge without your having to pull them out.

Saves time, saves space, would definitely get me into cooking, and it's another perk to homeownership!

Edit 1:
-Kukubee likes this idea! Also suggested the fridge as an immobile tool. (possibly built using the Engineering skills)
-Fivetide recommends having to build the counter out of planks

  • PLEASE! I only have basic animal kinship but I cook quite a lot. Because of this my animal pen in my yard is full of fruits and veg >_>

I did always wonder why there isn't an equip like the spice rack or toolbox for kitchen items.

  • This should probably go in the Ideas Forum so it gets the appropriate attention.

  • Is there a way to have it moved over?

  • Counters could come in traditional butcher block planks, or modern sparkly marble.

  • They could require both ingredients to make!
Someone in GC recommended the Fridge also being its own tool - you could make ice cream, or (I think I just thought of this) Sno Cones! For a big expense, of course.

  • Oh, this is a great idea!  I'd also love to be able to have a table and chairs in my house so I could serve dinner to guests.

  • There's a lot of enthusiasm for furniture and other decorations, I know I'm interested in them. This idea can be relatively quickly implemented; I wouldn't think much, if any animation would be required, just two or four new images.

  • If it wasn't in the ideas forum to begin with...it is now cause that's where I found it.

+1  I like having a cooking area and maybe other crafting areas in our homes.  I've found that I have a tendency to collect ingredients before using them, so a pantry and place to use stuff would be great.

  • Having industrial versions of tools that are immobile (or can't leave the house with) would be neat, for example an ultra cutting board (your counter with a knife) would replace a knife and board. This would help in doing bulk of food, just as long as the energy costs stay roughly the same (and you can still tinker to fix)
