Giant Platypus Of Gold

Hello mighty Gods of Giants.

A few of us have gotten the impression that a new project should be created requiring MILLIONS of metal ingots to be completed.

The final result would be a towering menace in the form of a giant gold platypus, preferably in the Groddle Meadow vicinity.

All in favor say I!

  • Sounds like a "Tower of Babel-esque" idea... and legend has it that project had some issues. ;-)

  • !! Ooh, I like this idea - of having some unconceivably huge challenges. They would be long term goals that can only be achieved if lots of people put in a little effort here and there.

  • The variant on this that developed in the staff IRC channel was: "but, that'd be cool .... competing projects to build a statue of a goat, a bunny or a frog ... whichever gets completed first is the one which we add to the game" (See the second post on fuckyeahkukubee.tumblr.com/ for a picture of the goat.)

  • WHOOP!

It had better be pretty damn menacing and pretty damn towering

Have you any ideas about how a platypus might go about doing those sorts of things?
Posted 24 months ago by shhexy corin Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Platypii don't really tower, they're pretty horizontal. Which clearly means the thing should stretch the length of FOUR streets.

    Fear the platypus.

  • Lets confirm, this platypus *would* be made out of gold? Solid, shiny gold?
Posted 24 months ago by Hburger Subscriber! | Permalink
  • that's the request. although I'm not sure how so many plain metal ingots would suddenly become gold.

possibly with the submission of a lot of alchemical elements to the project and lots of tong work.
Posted 24 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • possibly planks for scaffolding.

  • "although I'm not sure how so many plain metal ingots would suddenly become gold."

    was thinking same.

"possibly with the submission of a lot of alchemical elements to the project and lots of tong work."

    agreed. maybe some virgins too.

this project better better be big, like "getting Girl to Jupiter" in Noby Noby Boy big.

  • I would also like to propose the idea of the platypus having eyes made of thousands of rubies and diamonds.

I think the key to the platypus construction is that the ongoing work is visible- that you can actually see the progress of the platypus being built. The collection and donation process could be the same as constructing a street, but I think it would be pretty nifty to be able to see it as it goes up, and not just have it appear in all of its glory once all the work is done.

This is going to be so gangbusters, y'all.
