One idea I thought of for the end of beta, a way to really reward players with something useful and not just another novelty item...
You get a special coffee mug that looks really pretty. You can drop it in your house to show it off (only you can pick it up) or you can keep it in your inventory. It's a mug (a giant mug) that says "Back-2-Beta" on it, the info being "I survived Glitch going Back-2-Beta!" or something similar. Very "company promo product" ish.
However, there is special 'Beta Flavored Coffee' in it - 'made with real betas! (no, not the fish)'.
If you 'sip' the coffee it doubles your learning speed for 24 hours. The mug contains 7 "sips". You can switch skills all you want, you get a full 24 hours of double learning speed. Each drink lowers the coffee visible in the graphic, but you can always display / place it. Perhaps once empty you also get another novelty item like a costume piece for Beta 2 people only (or a trophy).
Of course 'sip' will come with a warning popup, so people don't accidentally use it. I am suggesting a manual use item (rather than an automatic boost to skill speed) as when Glitch leaves Beta the 2nd time people might have fully trained their skills, so if they automatically got a boost, it would be wasted. But if they got to choose when to activate a boost (when new skills came out) then it would be useful indeed.
Plus it's still a cute novelty item.
