JuJu Bandits still cheat!

Change log:
"Tweaks! Juju bandits now fear signposts & will disappear rather than steal when you are close to a signpost."

Not so! One of the buggers just nabbed a Hairball Flower Seed while I was frozen at a sign post. No great loss, to be sure, but clearly they're not afraid enough of signposts quite yet. Or perhaps they went to therapy?

  • I almost an EHSP when one spawned on the signpost I was heading towards. Luckily I turned quick.

  • My thing is that since this change, they are now appearing ahead of me. They've never done that to me before and today (or maybe yesterday) one was actually at the next street waiting for me.

  • Wow Jarhaven, that sounds quite scary haha. I also notice they don't appear to actually fear signposts, or they are able to get extremely close the the signpost where they can still steal items. There's also a major lag / pause whenever the Juju bandit appears.

  • My experience is the same.. Juju came right up to the signpost and took my stuff while I was frozen in lag-land.

  • Lesson well learned!!!!!!!!!! They stole an extremely valuable diamond and a key! Cheaters! I will now either not go there or make sure I have Nothing valuable in my bags. 3 on one street, and got me at the singposts! Please tell me thay can't get my Emblems?!

  • I had one SPAWN right on top of a signpost today. Whatever aversion therapy TS used, it ain't workin'.

    Also noticing the lag when they turn up. I'd be in favor of killing that "growing" animation they do, if that would also kill the lag.

  • Yeah, seconded on the lag when spawning, super-annoying. Anything that can be done to reduce that = I'm all for it.

  • Was at the ancestral lands today, and out of 4 times Jujus appeared, one time I was at the signposts moving locations it took forever to move. I panicked when the Juju got really close like 5 glitches length away, and pressed the refresh button. Fortunately it seems they didnt steal anything and the refresh brought me to the location i was moving to. 
    The temporary solution for now seems to be refreshing the page as soon as you see the Juju within your "Moving to" screen.

  • Should have posted this several days days ago...but too lazy to look to see if it was still a bug.  Juju...got me at the sign post...AND...just now trading with the Rube! Please Fix the tweak! Thanks! :)  I actually like the tad lag....as it does let me know the juju is there.

  • I've seen at least one juju spawn right underneath the signpost itself, and had several chase me past a signpost too, so there's definitely no avoidance happening yet...

  • Since yesterday this has got worse. No matter how fast I go to the signpost, I hover in transient indetermination once I've clicked for long enough that a whole tribe of Juju's could get to me.

  • You can get around this bug by jumping before you select your new street, so you are hovering in the air if a juju manages to make it over to you.  They can't jump, so you'll be safe.

  • By the way, I also confirmed that this trick works on smuggling quests.  Deimaginators also can't get you while you are hovering in the air.

  • It works with lag, but not unfortunately with freezing, which I'm now getting. While walking, the Juju spawns, I freeze, when the game restarts he's already taken whatever he wants off me, and once there were even 2 of them, apparently appearing out of nowhere.

  • I was surprised today when I ran into one of the dead end streets with 3 Jujus chasing me and they actually stopped and said the usual "This isn't the last you've seen of the Juju bandits" and disappeared. However, they haven't disappeared in other streets where there were signs at the end. Maybe you have to physically hit the real edge ending of a street and not where the street sign is because there's still padding between the sign and the actual edge of the street.

  • two juju got some paper from me while I was right on top of the signpost.  What part of the signpost are they afraid of.  Should I have been behind the signpost?  Didn't think to try that, will have to later.  But from the reading, I figured being near the signpost (the margin within you appear when traveling) was what the jujus feared.

  • Yes, they need to simply not be able to come within a certain space of signs, as though we're 'safe' because you're touching something when you're playing tag. We'd still have to avoid / jump over them to move down a street, so it'd still be a challenge / fun, but it'd also give us a safe spot to rest at / etc.

  • I am also experiencing the freezing problem when Jujus appear. Not only can I not flee, they have made off with my goodies and disappeared long before I am able to "unfreeze" and move. And no, they are currently not fazed in the least by street signs. I had one waiting for me right when I popped onto a street.

  • It's definitely not just you - If one's going to appear in the same screen where I already am, it's guaranteed they're getting what they were after.  I see the text, the animation starts, I freeze, by the time I unfreeze they've stolen and gone.  Very frustrating.

  • Same here: successfully jumped over the bandit, then lost a ruby to unusually long load time at the signpost.  The bandit was not even near me on the screen!  Sads!

    EDIT: I can't say for sure but it appears that some lovely dev replaced the ruby in my inventory.  Thank you!

  • As long as they're not getting me because of lag, I kind of LIKE the fact that the bandits are getting better at banditry.  The Ancestral Lands SHOULD be tricky and slightly dangerous, I think.  I'd find the area a little dull if it wasn't sort of stressful!

  • I had one, just a bit ago, spawn right next to me at a signpost...don't know if he took anything or not because it froze me up and so I kept clicking the sign posts until it finally let me go thru one.

  • Juju Bandits are seriously the bane of my existence.

    The lag you're experiencing when they appear is the result of the time it takes to retrieve the asset from our content distribution network (since being robbed by invisible bandits is no fun either).

    Hopefully you should now find that Juju Bandits are less grabby if you're lagging. Juju Bandits do not avoid street signs, strictly speaking, but they shouldn't steal from you if you are within range of one (this didn't work for a while, but Should Be Working™ now). If you find you are still losing items while changing streets, please notify player support (or even just post here) and include both the name of the street you were on and the name of the street you were transitioning to, and I will personally check it out.

  • I don't know if this is related or not, but I recently got caught by a deimaginator while doing the smuggler quest while using a signpost.  I didn't see it take the package, I just saw the message from the rock after the street loaded and the package was gone.

  • I got caught by a Juju today and lost Extremely Hallowed Shrine Powder while standing there talking to Rube.  He appeared out of nowhere and came right up and stole it while in the middle of the Rube speel.
