Please bring back the 20th floor of Hakusan Heaps Tower!

Yes, we know, Hakusan Heaps was never meant to have a 20th floor. Yes, I suppose that made it a "bug". But, dear developers, please consider unsquishing it. The Sandbox group (1332 members as of this post) had adopted that hidden space as our Secret Lair.  Accessible only by teleportation, it was a place where player-written missions and quests could easily be distributed, where resources could be shared, and where people could meet up prior to embarking on fun flash mobs.  Maintained entirely by volunteers from the Sandbox group, tp scripts to the lair were available to anyone who asked for them. In "fixing" this so-called "bug" you have destroyed one of the very things that makes Glitch great for so many players.

Please, please, please give us back our Secret Lair!

  • Ditto! This place was the coolest spot! I just assumed the devs created it on purpose because it was so cool.I guess not :-(

  • Yes. Please.

Aside from the utility for the sandbox group, it's things like this which help create & enhance culture and community. It's like that little clubhouse in the woods we had as kids. Sure it was hidden and not every Glitch new about it or had immediate access to it, but that's part of the point especially because, in my experience, all that all it took was asking someone in the sandbox group for a TP script. I never carried one on me, but had one of my 3 TP spots set to the lair and would gladly have let folks follow me to set their own and/or write a script (or I could write when there if they weren't skilled enough). There was no exclusion (if that was a worry) as the sandbox group was (and is) a popular and public group. For those curious enough to discover it, it was a great place to meet with like-minded folks and/or find some interesting activities to do.

  • As cool as the 20th floor was (i still have a script for it somewhere) maybe we can mourn the loss for awhile and then be all involved when the community islands are released.

  • I would like to see this special hidden place come back, at least until group housing becomes official.  This game, the developers, and the players are all awesome and I know it'd be appreciated from many fellow Glitchens in our group if Hakusan Heaps Tower 20th Floor made a return (even if temporary).

    :)

  • Oh no! I know it was a "bug", but the Sandbox group's use of the space was not causing any unfair advantage or exclusion (anyone who joined the public group and asked would get a TP script), and it was a valuable contribution to the Glitch community. I would love to see it return, at least until group-owned locations officially release.

  • I feel for you guys, but isn't it going to have to go anyways when they change the housing system?
Posted 12 months ago by Berskie Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Berskie - maybe, but why not have it until then?  Who knows when group halls are going to be implemented?

It's an actively used space in the world of Ur.  Members put a lot of work into writing all those missions and organizing them, keeping things tidy.

So instead of having the option to move all those mission papers, piggies, chickens, butterflies and other assorted items to a group hall, they're just poof!  Gone :(

  • +1 for getting our lair back. I found it early and watched as the group invited anybody who stumbled across it, or even heard a rumor about it, in. The lair itself was constantly stocked with teleportation scripts to share and invite friends. The group leaders took an amazingly zen stance on anybody who found their way in and raided all the goods: since it was a public space we were using each player who found their way there was free to do as they'd like, and if they wanted to take all of the things that was fair game. There were more than enough imaginary digital resources to restock, no fuss needed.

That right there was a heartwarming and most Glitchian response. Please, Tiny Speck, our group was using a space that wasn't supposed to exist for a very good and interesting reason. Glitch for me is much reduced now that our lair has been poofed out of existence without warning. The Sandbox group loves and adores the secret spots you've created for us to find, please return the one super special spot we stumbled upon.

    Huge appreciations!

  • Please add my voice to the chorus asking for a return of our not-actually-all-that-secret Lair. It seemed quite in the spirit of the world, and provided a place to plot world dominatio....erm, to plan fun missions to make glitchlings smile.

  • Our secret agent piggies have ascended far too soon due to the loss of our secret (that wasn't a secret) lair. D:

There are actual secret spots to find in game, so I don't understand why this one was removed. It was open to anyone who found it (or was told about it).

Let us doff our polka dot hats and mourn the loss of our lair.

  • Please bring back the lair. The space was such a wonderful secret (that wasn't really a secret). One of our missions is Care for Your Lair, where you had to restock and organize the lair. We cared for the space, made it accessible to anyone who asked, and used it as a clearinghouse for player-generated missions.

Please bring back the 20th floor!

  • Bring back the Lair! Bring back the Lair! Bring back the Lair!

It really was one of the things that kept me playing the game. With the herb wars and other yucky things going on it was one of the nicest places in the land and was so very creative. Bring it back!

  • Here's an alpha/beta tester supporting the request to bring back the Lair.

The Sandbox group has brought so much to the game with its user created quests both ecclectic and philanthropic (helping newbies with welcome bags). Sandbox was especially helpful in the months prior to unlaunch when a lot of Glitchen had already gone through their skills and had no quests to do.
Given the huge time commitment it was taking for the Sandbox admins to create notes for quests, to take requests and to send new quests, the lair was a place you could go to to get your assignments without having to hassle the admins. And it was also a place where group members shared resources. These were the only "advantages" and it does not give any Glitchen a competetive advanatage. To the contrary, it supports the community at large.
So, please bring back the Lair!

PS Not to mention, the Giants love creativity and imagination...which the Sandbox group has loads of. Do you really want to get the Giants angry?
Posted 12 months ago by Green Meanie Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The lair never really belonged to the Sandbox - we just took am empty space and made it into a wonderful spot of fun and collaboration. No one was ever turned down from partaking in Sandbox activities, even when we knew they took advantage of the generousity of the group.

I am deeply disheartened by the "fixing" of this bug. The Sandbox Group, the lair, our secret agents, fun instigators, our piggie pets, our polka dot hats - everything - was all about the good things of Glitch. The lair was not the only thing we had in common but it was part of the glue that held the Sandbox Group together.

The Sandbox is all about fun and making people smile, but somehow I do not have the heart for that right now. I need to go pet some piggies.

  • Please consider bringing it back. Questing for the secret space was one of the best gameplay days I'd had in ages in ANY game.

Heck, please consider adding a few more "secret" places we can stumble upon in the game. Everyone can enjoy them and there's a little bit of precedent, given all the little hard-to-find or difficult-to-access little nooks, secret tunnels, keyed seam streets, hidden caves, hard-to-reach ledges and branches and other non-obvious "blind spots" and hidey-holes that exist in the game already.
