Any players here also knitters? Is there any Ravelry cross-over? I'm considering starting groups in both places if there are other crafty Glitches around. I am personally brainstorming a crochet amigurumi doll of my own Glitch!
I'm a knitter as well and do belong to ravelry under the same name (gizmospooky) but unless a lot of people also play Glitch it probably wouldn't be worthwhile to start a Rav/Glitch group. I don't spend a lot of time on Ravelry, usually just check my groups in the forums unless I'm trying to see what other people have knitted up for projects I'm considering.
I'm on both, but I don't spend a lot of time on Rav as I still have a really strong knitting email list. I don't really see doing any Glitch-related knitting, but I'd still poke my head in to both groups.
I'm on Ravelry http://www.ravelry.com/people/Heathermomo
I think it's an amazing resource, even if you never post patterns or projects it's a great way of checking out unfamiliar wool or patterns. I look them up on Ravelry and then you can see how the wool or pattern "really" knits up. Because yarn in the ball never looks the same knitted up.
I crochet and knit but have not done either in some time. I loved the magic crochet books and did a lot of the doilies. I really miss those easy to follow patterns.
I knit I knit! I knit ALL THE TIME. Including while I'm doing work on Projects or streets if taking a long time to load. Making 12 Awesome Stews also gives me time to knit a round or two.
I do both Glitch and Ravelry.
I'll be honest though, pretty inconsistent about keeping up on Ravelry. Sometimes all over it, othertimes, months without visiting.
I crochet a little. I haven't done a lot, but do have a baby blanket in the making. I recently inherited some knitting needles from my grandmother, but I haven't had time to try learning that yet.
Jzero, I was thinking about that too! We could have sheep - harvest them for wool - spin it into yarn - and knit sweaters for our friends! Zomg how cool would that be?
OK, I will get a group started up soon! Yay knittas!
I knit, crochet, design, teach, have loved Ravelry since beta, have designed and started on some Glitch-related things, and am grinning ear to ear at this thread. For Glitchy purposes, I'm now on there as glumpudding.
Thank you so much for alerting me to the presence of Ravelry! I've never thought of bringing my knitting/crocheting online before! YAY! Am so excited, I knit and crochet often and love it! And +1 to the idea of knitting in Glitch. Sweaters for Wintry Place? :)
I'll have my 2 years knitting anniversary on 1st of September. Before that I stayed far, far, far away from yarn and needles as I was severely traumatized by knitting in the past. I have no idea what caused this 180 degree turn, but I'm kinda happy about it. :) I can be found from Ravelry as: http://www.ravelry.com/people/Feytrix
I like Owling.... you get a bunch of people who crochet.. They crouch like a frog and croquet.. These pieces are all crocheted together and can form a colouful coverlet for a tree, a lamp post, an abandoned car... The photos online are breathtaking...
OOPS.. forget the crocheting ... I Googled the article for owling and they are CROUCHING, not crocheting, but that would make it ever more bizarre. Forgive these old eyes.. My bifocals must have fogged up....
I'm on ravelry too http://www.ravelry.com/people/ittybittyknit. Is there a group? I just searched and didn't find one. Sadly lack of good internet = lack of glitch...but it does mean knitting :)
I belong to a craft forum called craftster.org (under the same name curiousfae...friend me!) and they have craft swaps that are frequently themed after popular tv shows, movies and even video games. The swaps are started and maintained by the members. I think it would be great to see a Glitch themed swap. I so can foresee one after the games goes live and more people are playing it. These characters BEG to be crafted they are so cute!! Not just amigurumi (which they would be perfect for) but needle crafts like cross-stitch and embroidery, or paper crafts, clay work, and even wearables like t-shirts and hats. Ohhhh, and what about a Glitch tote bag! Anyhow, the possibilities are endless!!
oh, and just for the record, I crochet. Like someone else posted, I have been crocheting too long to be any good at knitting! Seems I keep pearling when I should be knitting *harrumph* Can't teach an old dog..........
I used to go on craftster.org but I found Ravelry fulfilled my crochet/knit/weaving needs much better. Craftster is GREAT if you want to make anything else though.
I'm on Ravelry too, I knit, I crochet, and I cross-stitch!
(you can find me on Rav as TheWhizGidget - someone nicked my username, and then changed it when I messaged the account to see if it *was* mine and I'd forgotten)
