Glitch AnnivURsary! One Year!

As most of you know (or don't) today is glitch's One Year AnnivURsary. That means that aside from all the launching, un-launching, and other things (invites disabled...etc.) today is the day Glitch has been available to play for one year... And it's also my birthday :D (Maybe that's why I LOOVE glitch SOOOO much?.....)

So here is a SHOUTOUT to all the Awesome, Incredible, Phenomenal, Spontaneous, Hard-Working, Coffe Drinking, night Owling, Dumbfounding, and Marvelously 'Imagined' staff members... From Stoot, to Beez, to kukubee, all the way to the staff members who aren't so 'I have to be known!' But who spend a Butload of time on Glitch. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, in honor of the AnnivURsary why don't we all say one thing that strikes us as 'unique' in Glitch. It can be anything... From a weird experience, to a fun fact, to a special event that has to do with glitch (ex. Yeti Spaghettis Bonanza back in January/February.). Anything that YOU think is unique.

'Prizes' will be handed out/mailed out to the most creative/ or funny respone(s). Please be aware that they can be anything............anything.......

Anyway, with that in mind, I wish everyone an awesome day/Glitch Day and hope you have an awesome 'One Year AnnivURsary.' GO GLITCH!

So, I'll start off the unique aspect to me.

The first day I made my account and thought "what a weird looking game! I wonder if ill like it?" Then I find out that I could 'pet' butterfly's. or 'massage' them to make them secrete milk.... Then (as if I'm not already laughing my head off!) I discovered I could 'nibble' a pig.... That was when I lost it and knew this was Defiently NOt an ordinary game....And I love it ever since!

  • I remember when I first joined the game. As soon as I dropped out of the sky from the tutorial, someone started talking to me! Actually talking to me, in perfectly literate sentences. We were having a civil conversation and everything. That is how I knew this was the game for me, and it still is.

  • *raises her mug* Cheers to all the wonderful Tiny Speck Team yay

My fondest memory was when on my first day I got stuck in the quest to smash a rook egg, long long ago, I didnt want to die on my first day, (heh I didnt know what fun hell was) A wonderful staff member came and galantly towed me through the whole quest to where I could break the egg and finish it, he's been my hero and my friend ever since. There are many other precious moments the brightest of which was meeting my Joe, we are always together sharing this adventure without this wonderful game I would not have met him and my world would be the poorer. I still believe one day I will get to meet Joe, haa and maybe even journey across America and Canada to meet the team that made our friendship possible.
Whatever happens in the future its been a grand day out thus far and I am more than blessed to have been allowed to share this journey.

  • My favorite Glitchy experience was playing Game of Crowns with Stoot, Jade and many other TS staff and Glitchen in REAL LIFE!
A little back story: Last November, I got to go to the San Francisco TS office's official launch party. They held it because the Vancouver office had a launch party and the San Francisco team got jealous. Ironically, by the time the SF got their party, Glitch had decided to go back into beta and it had to become an un-launch party.
One of my friends drove all the way up from LA with a beta fish in her lap to give to the TS team. I wonder if that beta fish is still in the office...?
Anyway, not long after I got to the party I met Stoot, who was waring a giantormous red crown. Naturally, I stole it. It was in turn, stolen from me, and then again and again. Around and around the room it went, until Stoot, the King of GoC, got it back and kept it the rest of the night.
Good times, good music, good food, good Glitch.

PS I would Love it if we could have another launch party when we do come out of beta for real. I'll bring my own crown this time.

  • I remember when I was a newb...and unlike most newbs that I know, I stayed completely silent for the first few months, talking only if a quest required it. Looking back now, I suppose I was pretty unfriendly and probably came off as "weird" or "un-Glitchy." LOL.

  • Not looking for a prize but wanted to add my 2 cents.
What sets Glitch apart from other games for me:
ppl are just so nice! both in world and forums. glitchens are always so willing to help each other.
and the staff are always eager to listen to our concerns and feedback

  • The thing that really made me want to try Glitch was when I read that in Ur, eggs grew on trees :-)

  • I joined last November at the urging of a friend. I thought it sounded sort of lame. Playing with pigs, chickens, trees. Cooking, mining, gardening. Sure. But my friend guided me through the first few days so I stayed (planning to drop out asap). Then I started thinking about when I could get time to play next. I'm still thinking about that every day.
TS - you are the magic.

  • Back in March 2011 I was playing the last days of Faunasphere, a game that I loved dearly.  I was devastated that it was ending.  the worst thing was that I was going to miss all of my friends there whom I had enjoyed playing with and chatting with every day.  It was a terrible thing to lose.  Then, there was a bright light in the Forums named Glitch Smith.  This fellow told us about a new game called "Glitch" that was still in Alpha but we could enter the test.  He told us how to apply.  I had doubts because nothing would ever be as good as Faunasphere but I applied, why not give it a try?

I was accepted and entered the Alpha test the last week of FS.  I figured I would probably play only once.  I entered the game through a brain it seemed.  Well, the graphics were great and weird too.  I left the brain and entered a rather pretty but otherwise ordinary grassy country lane.  There were trees with some beautiful flowers in the distance.  Try as I might, I could not get to the flowers.  I was used to traveling in all directions in Faunasphere so this was a disappointment.  I took a few steps and then was stuck, could not move a step.  I saw the Global Chat and asked for Help but was totally ignored.  Well, I thought, this game is going nowhere.  It is linear, I am stuck, other players are rude.  I'll give it a few more seconds and then I am out of here.  I saw some other players nearby and told them I was stuck.  "Use the Arrow keys" they said and I was moving again.  So, I thought, I'll stay a bit longer and look around.  Then I went to another street and saw a strange and slightly scary fellow named "Beefcake".  This guy is full of it, I thought, I ran to the next signpost.  Little did I know it but Beefcake was one of the Devs.  I discovered this much later.  As I traveled around I began to like the graphics more and more.  I came to a place where people were mining.  I could move vertically for the first time so I climbed up and down and looked all around.  I thought this looked like fun and I wanted to do it.  I asked someone how I could mine.  They told me all about Skills and where to get a Pick.  I was intrigued and a little excited too.  I had 100 currants.  I was beginning to get hooked.  I left the game with the intention of returning later.  I really needed to go back to my "family" at Faunasphere.

That first intro into Glitch was a little rocky but it grew on me rapidly.  I looked forward to learning how to mine.  I really had to try that!  A few days later Faunasphere had a teary, sad end.  My "babies" were gone, the forums were closed and I was huddled together with many survivors at Facebook (ugh).  I discovered that many of them were also playing Glitch including Rascalmom who had started a Group for us at Glitch.  I returned to Glitch where I met Beefcake who helped me with some problem I have long forgotten.  What I have not forgotten is how nice and helpful he was.  He helped me a few more times as I learned and played.  He has a special warm place in my heart.  I met many of my Faunasphere friends, joined some groups, learned skills, captured a piggie and found a chick, bought a treehouse.  I was definitely Hooked within a week and have been here ever since.  I did try some other games but none came anywhere near Glitch for fun and companionship.  Alpha moved into Beta, Beta into Launch, Launch into Unlaunch and I am still here.  I still love the Game and I still chat with my Fauna friends daily.  It is all Good, very Good, and I am so happy to be here!

  • I joined a couple of days after launch, after reading about Glitch on wired.co.uk.

Some of my early memories include:
    - Saving up for a tree house in Muufo with my very own crop garden
    - Doing the peat quest with Warrender and a few others. I had not really explored the bogs before so it was quite a new experience
    - Being struck with awe when I first visited the tower and met Gwendolyn
    - Meeting a new Glitch and seeing the world through her eyes - even though I was pretty new myself it was great fun to explain things like where butterflies come from, and show off the skills I had learned

These days I cannot play so much, so usually there is a new quest or region or feature to explore when I enter the world :o).

  • One of the things I remember from my first day, almost exactly a year ago (Sept. 28) was meeting a couple of glitchen who were level 11 and 12. I was soooo impressed with their great age and experience and they were very nice to me.

I also remember the really magical fun of discovering beautiful places like Marrakesh Meadow, Ajaya Bliss, and Flipside, each with so many layers of new things to discover.

  • The thing that won me over with Glitch is the way the game-play makes it almost impossible to hurt the other players. In fact, the worst thing someone can do is splank you!! There seems to be an abundant amount of "fighting" games out there where its either kill or get killed and these have never interested me (actually I refuse to play any game where the point of gameplay is pure violence).

But when playing Glitch you can't help but be helpful to other players and this appeals to my personality. It is also one of the few games I can play together with my son and both really enjoy playing (although he does tend to rely on me providing him with the things necessary to complete tasks lol).

That is what is unique to Glitch- the game-play creates a kind and friendly community out of its players.......

And that's why I love it!
