But...
*flutters eyelashes innocently*
isn't distilling illegal?
And wouldn't people want to sell their home-brew? That's illegal too isn't it?
*quietly pushes stack of non-no flaps under edge of sofa*
Yeah I know :-)
Good idea actually... I hate produce type items which players can't make for themselves.
[Do you homebrew in real life? If so, happy to meet another brewer :-) ]
+1 for brewing/distilling skills, plus a still could be an item that can only be made with Tinkering V. I like the idea of items that can only be made by players.
@Snazzlefrazz: brewing/distilling are only illegal when there are revenooers who want to collect taxes on 'em. Unless the giants start collecting taxes *gaaack* I would think there should be no reason they would be illegal in Ur. (with or without eyelash fluttering)
YAY BEER!!!
Yes, brewing for beer and hooch at least (since those seem to be some of the more important drinks that can't currently be player-made). I'd think it would be an outgrowth of Cooking and Alchemy though, not Tinkering... though you'd need Tinkering skills to make a distillery. But yeah, logically I'd think a Brewery I skill could require Saucery I or II and Intermediate Admixing. And maybe make a distillery at Tinkering V.
Also, homebrewing of things like beer, cider and wine is not illegal in many parts of the world. I live in wine country, so I've some experience there... ^__^
I love this idea =) Would be great if perhaps we could make different types of wine/beer ect. That has different effects. Ie, Sparkling Champagne, Huge Mood Boost, and a buff that allows 1.5* EXP for 3mins, or something like that? =)
Maybe those pesky deimaginators would be on the prowl for bootleggers? If you're carrying less than 24 bottles then you're safe but any more than that & there's a chance they'll appear on the street & come looking for you - similar manner to the smuggling quest... you can still evade them by jumping over them or by running in the opposite direction.
+1, I think eventually all the ingredients to food should be able to be made by the players! I dream of a wintry location where you could buy a house, plant an ice cube tree in your backyard, and distill hooch in your house--perfect for cocktail crafting Glitches!
[And with all the home-brewers appearing in this thread, please forgive me for taking this opportunity to plug the Beer Loving Glitches group: http://www.glitch.com/groups/RHVQPJ3A0H82O0P/ ]
+100 for hooch requiring a bathtub rather than a still. Mead you can make from honey and a firefly jar. Beer from some combination of grain, pot and barrels (finally, something to use wood for!)
