Toys (hey Kukubee, read this!)

I know there was another thread on this, but I can't find it now (are there forum gnomes, like underpants gnomes?), so here's a new one.

Post your ideas for toys!

They can be adorable without being terribly functional.  An example: the Glitchmas Yeti, which says phrases, but which does not run around eating pigs at night or anything.

They can be functional, too, like the blob/ball thing which lives in Plexus.

**************

Some of my ideas, and please forgive me if these have all been posted before...

Hula hoops!  Aside from the usual spin-around-the-pot-belly move (which could be a bit of a pain to animate), we could jump over or through them, or try to roll them along next to us, or hoop other people as they walk past, the way we can water other people with watering cans.

Balloons, with or without helium: great as party decorations, floating above our heads, or for batting back and forth. Twist them into balloon animals and other shapes.

Jack-in-the-box!  Turn the crank to see something silly pop out, like a clown, a cactus, or a picture of stoot.

Gyroscopes!  They'd be sort of cool to look at while we're on purple.

Spinning tops!  Fun to watch, or use them to attack your...

Rook dolls!  Why not?  Pull a string, hear them squawk, and drop them hastily as they try to scratch you.

Dice, for use in any game we make up.  They're easy to code, and we could hang fuzzy ones in our...

Toy cars, planes, and trains!  They could have appropriate sound effects and fly or drive around us as we walk.

  • Wind-up toys, like little hopping chicks running around our feet.

Army men!  They could stage tiny battles.

Dolls of each giant!  Gaze adoringly at them or fondle them for a mood boost.

  • I like the idea, but-  you'd need a high decomposition rate (a toy lasting perhaps, 1 game day) to prevent Glitch from being taken over by them. It'd also increase the novelty at them if every single glitch you ran into wasn't squirt-gunning you (for example).  Or perhaps only creatable with a high component cost (And a life of about 2-3 game days).

  • Jeez, how did that not come up in a search?  :/  Thanks.

Also... silly string!  It could evaporate after a few seconds, so as not to leave a mess.

  • Okay, so I got my dice.  I'm happy with them.  Now my mind – left idle while thatsmybot is stuck in an airport – turns to creating an I Ching for Glitch.   It seems to me that there are seven gods (seven suits in the tableaux to represent, and 36 possible rolled combinations

    [ 1 and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,

    2 and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
    3 and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
    4 and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
    5  and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
    6 and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.]

So if we set one combination (6 and 6, say) as ROOKED, we have 35 possibilities for fortune-telling.  A number evenly divisible by 7.  So any ... combinatricatorially-inclined types up for creating the glitch ching or the glitch tarot?

  • YAY WE GOT DICE!  Thanks, devs!  They seem to cause a lot of lag, but they're fun nonetheless.

Doctor Barf, I like it!  I don't know much about fortune telling, though I think I have a pack of tarot cards around somewhere... maybe we can come up with something.

It seems that a lot of people want to put their dice into their toolboxes, but they're not tools, so they won't fit.  Instead, could we have a toy box?  :D

  • The dice lag has been fixed... yay!

    Some minigames:

Gnome Bowling!  Gnomes for pins, focusing orbs for bowling balls.

Crab Pinball!  Crab-shaped board, claws for flippers, eye stalks are bonus tunnels, plays musicblock music, gives crabato juice as prizes.

  • Um, there is one God, and 11 giants.  Where are the "seven gods"?

  • Oooo but there is a teddy i call him cuddles i drop him in my house too i would like a rocking horse or doll to play with him hehe... ;)

  • Rocking horses would be adorable.  It would be cool to have other types of bears, too, like grizzlies or polar bears.

Trading cards... one for each of the giants, each region, each type of animal, tree, rock, etc.

Female gnomes, baby gnomes, gnome cats and dogs

  • I want a cuddly lem doll I can drag around (Have it be part of the wardrobe so I can drag it in the dirt.)

  • Okay, haha, there are eleven giants. I got that confused with Game of Thrones.  I'm gonna say that my glitchi-ching idea does not work at all any more, also that I need to keep my fictional universes separate.

  • Kites!  How cute would it be to have a kite flying along behind you?!

  • Jump ropes!  The avatars wouldn't have to hold them; the rope would turn itself and count the number of jumps until we stepped on it.

  • My octopus hat would like a jaunty hat or three of his own, or perhaps a necktie... although we're arguing over whether it will fall into my face.
