Possible ways that visitors could get street owners' animals out of the way for a couple of minutes

Given that there is a diversity of preference over how animals on home streets are managed (some like them free range, others find this means they always get in the way), I suggest a craftable object that acts like a single-use animal stick, that you can't pick up again, and it stops working after a short period of time or when you leave the street. So you can get the street owner's piggies out of the way while you mine all their sparkly down, but you don't have a long-term effect on how they choose to manage their herd. I'm thinking maybe a potion which you pour on the ground; while it's effective, it attracts the animals to that spot, but it eventually evaporates.

Couple of things I can't decide on:
1. How this should work if the street owner has already placed a stick for that type of animal on the street - would it override it?
2. Should this only work on home streets, or would it be ok for it to also work in Ur?

ETA: now that we have a couple of other ways of achieving this suggested in comments, I have edited the subject.

  • Hmm. Seems to me that the street owner should have the say on this, even temporarily. If you don't like his or her choice, there are other streets to visit.

I think a temporary stick for use in Ur might be okay.

  • Yeah, I was kind of worried about overriding the street owner's decisions. I'd be fine with using it just in Ur, or maybe just opening it up to keyholders on home streets.

Maybe if someone using it on a home street gave the owner some sort of bonus? Longer-lived animals, maybe, or a bit of extra img from the rock?

  • There's also the issue of multiple Glitches using them on the same street, at the same time. Do you allow that, or not? If so, whose gets priority? What sort of griefing might result from either option?

  • Yeah, multiple Glitches is another use case I hadn't thought of - this is all good input for refining the idea! I'd probably make it so that only one could be active at a time, and if someone tried to use another one before the first one had expired, they wouldn't be able to. So it would be the first use that gets priority.

  • maybe like instead of a stick, you could have a drink with a 'animal-be-gone' buff. that animals will avoid x amount of planks around you for 3 minutes, or something like that?

  • I like that, awesome sauce01! But, how do you envisage it working if you are standing within range of an animal stick?

  • Hmm, suppose they just go as far away from you as the stick lets them?

  • That should work  :)

  • Or a force field that repels animals? A potion should be able to do that, one that involves Rookswort and Purple essences

  • +1 it'd be fun to see piggies fly up like the chickens do

  • Ooh, flying pigs? I am compelled to agree with any idea that involves that.
