  • Nice! I was thinking of starting a cafe but this is a very nice idea.

  • Very nice.  I tried taking food to the mines and selling it at a discount but that didn't work out.   People are spread out in the mines, most have prepared with some of their own food, and an itinerant seller isn't on the map.

I wonder how miners feel about this?   Is there a better set-up place?  What are you looking for in meal options?

  • I love this idea. I tried starting it, but found I was way too lazy to make all that food. I wish you much luck!

  • WalruZ, it went really well. People seemed happy with the packed lunches and I had a lot of fun doing it.

The most popular packed lunches were the Miner's Measure and the Contemplation Collation, I was surprised that the Refiner's Repast wasn't more popular, but maybe it's the power of the Awesome Stew.

The main hitch I had, was that you can't trade or mail full bags, only empty ones. I got around this by trading the menu note for the currants and then giving the customer the full bag. It is going to make fulfilling mail orders a bit of a bugger. I'm either going to have to meet them in world or post the bag and meals individually and price accordingly. (Devs, is there a reason for this restriction? Speaking as a Glitchian Businesswoman, it does make my life an awful lot more difficult ;-) )

But as I said above, I had an awful lot of fun doing this, both in the planning and the selling to people, and I'm definitely continuing. I have further ideas to develop the business with new products and will allow people to buy bags as gifts for fellow Glitches, and will discount the Newbie Nosh when bought as a gift for Newbies. (Also I'm excited for in-game advertising that Stoot has talked about in the past)

Can I just say a huge Thank You to the awesome Violet, who in addition to cheer leading me on this project, helped by making most of the smoothies and salads, she stunned me by how quickly she made them all.

Anyone who wants to order a packed lunch, either contact me in game, or mail me and I will come back to you to confirm cost and a timescale for delivery.

(Apologies for the lateness of the reply, I had a Gallstone Attack so wasn't online yesterday, except for very briefly when I accessed via my iPad remotely controlling my iMac)

  • The reason I'm curious is because I think us farmers / cooks would do well to band together.  If a meal sale with one person went well, I wonder if perhaps a meal sale with multiple sellers might not attract even more of a critical mass, something like an RL farmers market or food truck posse.  :)

  • I think this is a great idea.  I like the idea that crafting items can lead to more interesting enterprises than just posting straight to auction.   I met Ama at her place and the transaction was delightful.  Thanks!

  • Yeah, street food team! I think WalruZ's idea has legs. As a newbie player it would be a nice way to see how the community aspect of Glitch works.

  • I purchased Ama's Refiner's Repast and just wanted to announce how wonderful it was!

I initially thought twice about the Savory Smoothie, but the combination of the "Flaming Grinder" buff from the Flaming Humbaba to keep my energy from going down and the "Savoring Experience" buff from the Smoothie was incredibly helpful and intuitive!

These are great, well-thought-out meals for a wonderful price!

  • This sounds awesome :D  I don't have major cooking skills, just live on raw meat and eggs xD

Must scrape some more currants to buy these packs :P  Great idea, hope your business does great!

  • I think Flaming Humbaba may be better cocktail for miners :D Or the Carrot Margerita for energy boost.

  • I would definitely be on board if there was a food truck posse or some kind of food market.  Any organized group would be fine really.  You can even post updates like the real food trucks so people will know where to find you in game depending on where you're going to be setting up a shop on a particular day.
