Thought it was an improvement, but nope. (Spending Emblems)

Am I the only one who has noticed (finally when it's near too late) that if you DON'T get the Emblem of the Primary Giant for the skill you're currently learning, but get very close it actually knock of MORE time?

So I go and donate to Spriggan, I'm up to spending about 1500 to get an Emblem right now, and with no quests and my desire to harvest dwindling, I really have nothing better to do.

So I'm about 50 Favour points from getting said Emblem, and I check my Favour, it tells me that I can spend the 1400+ points I have and get 3 hours+ knocked off. I think to myself, "Hey those lovable TS scamps have decided to make the time off in line with the amount spent. Cool."

Unfortunately, I was wrong, so I cap out grab my Emblem go to spend it and get the usual 2 hr 46 mins off.

Who else wants this system changed? I'm not asking for 10 hours off for every Emblem, but there's something not quite right about having to earn more favour and not getting more in return.

If you're running around grabbing Favour to knock time off, check and make sure you're not getting more time off by NOT going for the Emblem.

  • You will ALWAYS get more time off by not going for the emblem. The emblem is worth exactly how much you spent to get it the first time. 1000 favor points. It's value, unfortunately, is static.

I suggest, if you're spending for skill learning, use a calculator and find out exactly how much you need to donate, with Extremely Hallowed Shrine Powder of course, to get to JUST under the emblem. Then you get how much time off you actually put in, and REALLY get your money's worth for the powder.

The best way to do that is to acquire large amounts of the same item before donating.

  • Emblems are always worth the same as 1000 favor points, unfortunately. No emblem is worth more than any other emblem, and that includes spending for learning speed.

  • You are far better off spending favour points than emblems. I usually take the favour bar to within 10 of the emblem then spend it - but now I'm trying to get icons...

  • It really depends on how you're prioritizing building up your favor caps.  In the short term, sure, spending the favor gets you more of a benefit.

  • The benefit of getting the emblem is that it increases your daily favor cap with that giant by 100.
