[investigating] Targeting annoyance.

Hi there,

Not sure if this has been mentioned (looked through some from the last testing period, but haven't seen any...) but I'm having a little targeting annoyance happening after this last test.

Basically, when a tree (wood trees, usually) or rock changes shape (to a smaller version), I'll have to walk back up to the rock, to mine. The thing is, is that itp puts me back automatically where I was before.

A way to make small rocks still have the same area of contact as what it is at original size would be nice, saves moving back and forth lots, which tends to make glitch get laggy when it's happening to other players on my screen as well...

  • Very annoying, yes. One thing I've found, is that if I switch to the right side of the rock when it shrinks, I can stay in place.

  • This happens when there's not shape change involved as well. When watering/petting/harvesting baby trees, the spots you work from on both sides are too far away for the tree to be highlighted. It's a small thing but very crazy-making.

  • I had an interesting one with this about 11:30 ET today. I found a location that had a Beryl Rock on the left hand side of a Metal Rock. I was between them facing the Beryl Rock and started mining it. I often just use my enter key when mining as I find it to be a very quick way of mining the next chunk. Without really looking at my screen, and only going by the sound, I quickly hit enter to see that I was then mining the Metal Rock.

Watching how this happened I saw:

With the rocks laid out this way, even when I was facing left and started mining the Beryl Rock, when the mining began it moved me a little more to the right - which also changed my direction to be facing the Metal Rock and when the current mining operation of the Beryl Rock completed, targeting focus had been changed to the Metal Rock.

I was able to repeat this process until all of the Beryl Rock had been mined. I also found that if I went as far to the left of the Beryl Rock as I could, it worked Ok. The reason I didn't originally do that is because I ended up between them when I climbed up a ladder, and, there was very little space on either side to stand on and I didn't want to fall off the ledge - like the old mining bug would have caused.

  • Today, I didn't have to shift my little glitch to catch up with a diminishing rock!   Thanks!
