well we were out of beta for a long time, so how is this any different from then?
if the same 200 regulars are in here, then the place becomes very boring. noobs means new folks to buy stuff and drive up the prices of all the crap I hoarded.
Today's the update to imagination; there's going to be a shakedown period, then the housing reset, then another shakedown period from that; other things might need to happen before they come out of beta, but I would be *stunned* if they came out of beta before the repercussions of the housing reset have shaken out.
Looks like, sshexy. If you log out and go to sign up, you see: "Glitch is in beta and invites will be sent out periodically. It'll probably be a few weeks before you get one (though friends on the inside can send you an invite at any time)."
I think Shexy's right, I invited a friend yesterday with no problems. Now that the game's closed, my invites disappeared and skills have stopped advancing as well
You still can't sign up for Glitch (at least without an invite)- tried logging out and signing up but it still gives the same message about Glitch being in beta. But I look forward to the day Glitch launches to the public and we get a flood of new players. If people are being "bwabies" you can just block/ignore them :)
It was never implied that the launch of imagination would mean the relaunch of the game. Actually, it hasn't been stated what needs to be released before they will relaunch the game at all, but Fnibbit's breakdown is likely rather on target, I'd bet.
I wouldn't be too worried about the quality of the community after Glitch leaves beta. Although in some sense an influx of newbies may bring in undesirables, the Glitch community is quite tight, and has it's own culture and norms. It's not rigid, but if new players realize that some things (such as--newly discovered by me though google searches--"bwaby talk") are not acceptable in the greater community, they will either adjust, leave, or stick to Groups which allow them to "bwaby talk" or whatever.
Look at our forums for example: Maybe it's the older player-base, but people tend to type (relatively) consistently, with capitalization, punctuation, complete sentences and proper spelling (absolutely no offense meant to those who eschew "proper" sentence structure :P). There are no rules in place for this, and I've never seen anyone get chewed out for typing poorly (unless it's impossible to understand what they're saying!), but nevertheless, the forums are quite clean and easy to read.
Wow, the game needs to reopen.... really thought way too much about this XD
This wouldn't be the first time Glitch left Beta testing. I started in Glitch right before the first switch from beta to public. There were some more unsavory characters, but in general, there wasn't a huge change in the over all attitude of the Glitch community. And as Bradamus points out, they filter out eventually.
