Ginger - the most useless drop from a harvest?

Why? Why one Ginger spice? It takes up one slot all for it's lonesome in my inventory (I don't carry a spice rack).

  • Ginger in a necessary ingredient for sweet and sour sauce, which is used in several high-end recipes. Chefs who carry a spice rack don't complain about free spice, but for other players it will fill up space.

  • yeah Zen but 1 spice? one?? what is the point? I don't think anyone would go out specifically to make an entire recipe because they got 1 free ginger from a drop :? It just hit me whilst I was harvesting trees and the ginger popped into my bag.  As luck would have it a piggy feeder was nearby so dropped it in.

  • It's useless to me, because I don't cook (in fact I refuse to because it bores me to tears), but for cooks it might be useful. I usually eat it as soon as I get it just to get it outta my bag.

  • You can also drop it in the nearest piggy feeder.

  • There's probably a hidden badge for 1009 ginger drops.

  • It's edible.  Eat it.  It will then be gone.  You will have very slightly more energy.  It only takes a mouse click.

I have the same problem when the game wheel spits out a bean.  I don't need that (I don't cook or season beans.)   I eat it.  Then it's gone.

  • Mix it with water from the lizardous bureaucrats and you will get refreshing ginger water.

    Just kidding.

  • Def the most useless.

Although Fertilidust Lite has a case...

  • Nah Rosty, at least you can use the FDL to regrow harvested wood trees.

  • nah.

    well, maybe.

you can eat ginger, but i tell you i never get enough drops for a recipe and i nearly always forget when making a batch of something that i already have JUST ONE GINGER so i was thinking fertilidust is definitely the most useless, but it can be sold for a handful of currants, which brings me to maybe a more useless (although not annoying) drop: the five currant bonus.

even stupid fertilidust is worth more than that, even if you have to schlepp it over to a vendor to be rid of it.

  • Sesame oil. Def the most useless. I mean, there's like ONE solitary recipe in the whole game that uses that.

  • I decided to stockpile sesame oil a week ago just to see how many i would get. You usually get 3 at a time. With no plan, I wound up with 28. So I sold them to a vendor. You can't gift them to anyone - they're like curse. And they're useless as donations. Nobody wants to "find them behind a tree. Maybe they should develop a ginger & sesame oil recipe with lots of energy. If you open a store, I'd stay away from calling it "GINGER'S" or "OPEN SESAME".

  • Well when we get a cruise ship for a group of us like the sky deal some will have to eat it for sea sickness lol

  • I do cook and have no use for a single ginger. (My spice rack is generally full of Allspice and I grind spices as needed for recipes, usually in large batches.)

Same with the Sesame oils, I just pile them up and eat them in batches if I run low on energy. (And the same for the other food items that pop out of gardening plots in onesies.)

Getting something decent but infrequent like a Ruby or Fuel Cell is much better than getting something useless frequently. It just means you have to sort through your bags to get rid of junk constantly.

  • Fertidust definitely isn't useless, though it might be of less use to those who don't gather a lot of wood. To us wood gatherers, though, it's absolutely invaluable.

But overall the low-value food items're probably most useless since very few people have use for them (and I'd add to this maple syrup from trees).

  • Save it up and eventually donate it. Every little bit counts.

  • Meh, any drop is OK by me. If I don't want it I donate it so still  get a benefit.

But ginger goes into Sweet&SourSauce which goes into Tangy Sauce which in turn goes into essence of purple. A good party give away.

It also goes into Gurly Drinks.

  • I always have more sesame oil than I know what to do with, and I *do* cook.

I usually throw them in a shrine. Doesn't really help, but it makes me feel better to be rid of them.

  • Sesame I do use, when I've gotten a few hundred from drops I make a large batch of fried rice to donate - I always appreciate finding those when street roaming : )

  • Well, for stuff you just don't want, just drop it.  somebody will pick it up soon enough.

  • There are some "take-some leave-some" piles around and little stuff like ginger that you don't want might be perfect for someone else :)

  • I started saving all those drops when I reached level 60 the first time. Believe me, all those bags with 'good for nothing' drops sure helped getting to 60 this time ;)

ETA; also all food I got from the AL.
I have a cabinet for it now, 3 to be precise, they're in my kitchen. One (32) with all the food, two (wall) with bags. Every time I have a new stack it goes into a bag. It'll be useful again some day, I hope ;)
