New Feats, collaborative backstory and you!

We love making Feats. They are fun to design, build, and then let loose on Ur. We watch the completion percentages climb upwards, grinning as you steadily progress through the challenges.

We don't want to have all the fun! So, we want to hear your ideas for the kind of Feats you would like to see. Post your ideas in this thread and give +1s to the ideas you like (please limit yourselves to a single +1, so we can do an accurate count). Create the whole thing: the name, the hint/blurb shown before the Feat begins, the legend/backstory behind it, the goal to be accomplished and any other detail you can think of.

We'll shortlist the most popular (and feasible) proposals and put them up for a vote by subscribers (using the votes they get each month). The ones that top that ballot will be put into the game.

Let the Feat ideas flow!

  • Glitchosaurus Wrecks

We still strive to determine our Glitchian history and ancestry - just look at the footfall at the Rook Museum?

What did Glitchen evolve from - when mining what fossilized remains might we discover and how would they fit  together?

Would each component have a tradable value? Communities may reconstruct skeletal icons to be worshipped?

Five relics of accumulating number of ‘bones’...reconstruction is probably a community feat.

Fossilized bones from mining, but to get the map to know the layout of the parts....form a queue at the official permit office first?

Groups bid on locations to mount their monuments and tithes are payable on visitation of said exhibits.

  • I have a couple of ideas, first is for players to be put into teams (random) for each giant, there would then be a race or competition to donate the most whatevers.   It would be fun if there was some way of identifying others in your team.  This would get people out into the world and have different people working together.

I did have an idea about custard pies but since I got told off for giving someone a garlic kiss tonight, I will let that one slide.  Sadly.

The other idea I had was a similar sort of quest to the easter egg hunt, because that was really fun.  Have to perform an action to get pieces of something and when you have a set you donate them or they vanish leaving a point for the feat.

  • Legend: Louise Pasture & the Art of Very Very Stinky Cheese

Louise Pasture, esteemed Cheesemaker of Groddle, was but a humble butterfly farmer when she first invented cheese by compressing butter.  Not one to rest on her laurels, she continued to experiment and push the boundaries of cheesiness.

It was during an auspicious Affineur moon that Louise embarked upon the painstaking process of aging cheese. Relying only on intuition and an inflated feeling of invincibility imparted by no-no powder, she made her first breakthrough: Stinky. Tragedy struck soon after when her battered palate and olfactory system took a nosedive at Very Stinky. A despondent Louise retreated to the mountains of Aranna but at the behest of her emotional bear, reluctantly returned to work.

And so it was, after much retching and some (x amount) attempts later, Louise Pasture had perfected cheesiness into an art form; culminating in Ur's most divisive delicacy: Very Very Stinky Cheese.

Feat: Celebrate Louise Pasture’s feat of elevating cheese into an art form of the highest caliber by *making (and/or selling)(x amount) Very Very Stinky Cheese.

    *Alternatives:
    · Give (x amount) of Very Very Stinky Cheese (unique players)
    · Hesitant due to a potential for spamming wall feeds (and crowding a location) but
something along the lines of taking (x amount) of snaps while posing with VV Stinky
Cheese and saying "cheese"; possibly on LP street)

  • Human (glitchen?)  Pyramid.

You can stand on other glitches as long as there are two glitches underneath you to support your weight.

You get one point for every glitch in the pyramid you are part of.  But, you can only get more points if the next pyramid you participate in is bigger than your last one.  So Ideally you start with a 3 glitch pyramid, then 6, then 10, then 15, then 21, ect.  Eventually there are going to be some massive pyramids, requiring lots of people and lots of fun

  • Midfever's Eve

Takes Place: 37th of Fever. If in an "Epic" category, takes place during 35, 36, 37, 38, 39 for a week long mid-Fever celebration.

    Preview Blurp
On Midfever's Eve, when the Moon is full, the hearts and eyes of Glitchen everywhere open and are filled with desire. Whether its possession, or simply a case of high blood pressure, all are filled with a touch of violet that can only be cured by a floral munch.

    The Legend
Some call him the Charmer, the Trickster, or the Great Seducer; but today he is known as the Scion of Purple. Ages ago, a young Mabbite with a great appetite for imagination and affection would woo beautiful Glitchen by bestowing them with a single, beautiful, Purple flower. He was so full of love that he couldn't contain himself to a single Glitch, and would wander aimlessly, giving his gift whenever - and to whoever - he could.

After a while, the Zillots became angered by the masses of dreamy, moon-eyed Glitchen lazing about Groddle Meadow reciting Poetry and discussing the meaning of life. They ordered the young Mabbite to cease immediately or risk being thrown into the depths of Ilmenskie for all eternity.

Undeterred by the angered Zillots - the young Mabbite put on a Mask to hide his identity, and began giving out Purple Flowers in earnest. He gave out 1,000 Purple Flowers on the most Holy of Mabbite days, Midfever's Eve, before the Zillots finally caught up with him. As they surrounded him with Beryl Chains, he threw a giant bouquet of Purple into the air, and disappeared into a great Violet Cloud.

Some say Mab greatly favored the young charmer, and she granted him her highest honor: imbuing his essence forever with the spirit of Purple Flower and granting him the domain of the highest ultraviolet light. He was forever known as the Scion of Purple, and you must recreate this great feat by following in his foot steps.

    The Feat
While wearing a Mask (for the purposes of this feat, a Mask counts as any wardrobe item which is placed in the "hat" slot) give Purple Flowers to as many different Glitches as possible. Each unique flower given to a unique Glitch gives 1 point. You only get 1 point per recipient, per flower (For Example: If you give one Purple Flower to Godiva, you get 1 point. If you give a second Purple Flower to Godiva, you get 0 points, you need to find someone else to give one to).

Goal: 1,000 Flowers Bonus: 5,000 Flowers Super Mega Bonus: 30,000 Flowers *

    * These suggested goals can and should be changed - I don't know the active population of the game, but these goals should be reflective of that.

    Potential Rewards:
In addition to the Standard img, energy, mood, and rocks - the completion of this Feat could unlock either a new Herb/Flower to grow.

  • Gikium Girnium's Gobs of Games

Gikium Girnium was a Glitch who loved to play. Glitchen-kind was reguarly facing down rook attacks, and Gikium watched with dismay as the constant quarrals and injuries worried the people of Ur. They were always on the move and never able to have any fun! Gikium decided to take it upon himself to relieve the stress of his friends by playing as many games as he could. He couldn't decide what his favorite type of fun was, so he created many different games. He made sure always needed a friend with him to play so at least one Glitch would benefit from all the fun there was to be had.

Gikium played so many games that little by little he played a game with everyone in Ur, all 13,204! The joy he brought to everyone spread, their hearts were happy and their minds finally relaxed, giving them the strength to continue their battles against the rook. People began playing games on their own, having as much fun as they could and remembering how Gikium's games helped the Glitchens keep on going.

13,204 games played to completion to honor Gikium.

  • - Another suggestion, re: Rook Attacks, perhaps a Rook or two in every map area (so like 1 in smaller areas, and 2 in somewhere like Groddle Forest.) to chase down and defeat that is constantly respawning.

    - Something with mailing! Step 1: obtain some kind of item via the feat (like a gift box with randomization, I'm sure there's an item like that somewhere). You can't open it, but the power of sharing can! Step 2, mail gift to a friend or leave with someone's butler.

    - Earth packing. Everybody gotta jump as many times as they can and stamp things solidly in place. Maybe have to say something in midair.

    - The Plants Are Taking Over. Someone with seeds of some herb or plant (maybe a special one for the event... Herb of Mysterious Weediness! Podpeople Plants! Avacados!) that grows really fast. Eating them gives you the flavor text of 'You feel the urge to spread your seeds' or something similar. Shucking it gives a few seeds, and you must give other people seeds so they'll plant and grow them too. Things the plants say can be zombi-takeover related.
    Goal: so many plants

And the follow up could be getting rid of them all. (Or a decent chunk, in the case of people hoarding.) And seeds and things wouldn't grow after the event.

  • The Colossal Quest of Quixtrus

Legend has it that a great Glitchen thinker named Quixtrus fashioned an Imagination Orb of ridiculous size and epic power. He used it to imagine new worlds for all of his fellow Glitchen to discover and explore. Quixtrus knew that he had a great power on his hands, but he didn't particularly want the great responsibility that came with it. So he shattered the Imagination Orb into 2000 pieces and scattered them all across Ur to possibly be found again some day. Legend has it that the places imagined by the Orb were lost upon it's destruction, but if they could be found and combined again, these fantastical places would be brought back to life.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think this could be some sort of Ur-wide scavenger hunt. We would have to adventure through the heights Aranna and depths of Chakra Phool in search of the pieces of the Imagining Orb. Now the 2000 pieces is a flexible number and depending on where they would be hidden and how we would obtain them, that could be much larger or much smaller. The leaderboard of Heroes would still work the same, just there is a finite number of points (pieces) you can get. I think we need an adventurous feat to indulge in.

  • Shimla Mirch Swamp Romp and Bog Boondoggle

Party all over the bog! Explore the boglands of Shimla Mirch, Chakra Phool,  Jethimadh, and Kalavana, gathering as many resources from as many different streets as possible. Create tasty drinks, food, and "party favors" for your fellow Glitchen and hand them out in your travels in this 24 hour fête. Laissez les bons temps rouler!!

The bogs have spice plants, gas plants, eggs, piggies, chickens, and butterflies so that's a bunch of recipes right there. Fireflies and barnacles can be made into crystals as well. Glitches can buy other supplies from the groceries or produce vendors to make even more items. To make it fair or easier on the programming, Glitches can only enter the boglands during the swamp romp with empty bags, cooking supplies, and tools. No outside supplies can be brought in.

I'm sure someone could work in a backstory about Pot or even one of the mail frogs backpacking across Shimla into this as well.

    Honor out new Giant.

From old legends and tales, the glitchens of ur thought there were only 11 giants. the main giants that imagined everything in life. but the truth is, there may be one more. have you ever thought of who makes the simple things? things that we take for granted or don't even notice? not any more.

the main goal: donate something, anything to show the giants some love. We must donate 30,000 objects.

  • An idea for a feat in the far, far future.

The Hideous Happenings of Humpfry the Humongous

In a long ago age in a not so far away place--for indeed, there was no far away place (things were much smaller then)-- the giants had a hankering for something sweet.  They thought and they thought and between the eleven of them, they imagined a sticky sweet golden nectar, vomited right from the stomachs of bugs.  They called it Smurflendorfenpuff but tired of spitting all over one another and renamed it honey.

They imagined the gooey golden goodness into hives all across Ur, for glitchen everywhere to eat and enjoy.  But then the giants imagined Humpfry.

Humpfry did not start out so humongous; he was, in fact, quite puny.  However, Humpfry soon noticed a strange growth in the back of his mouth.  He thought, "Oh, it is just a wisdom tooth,".
Humpfry was wrong.  It was a Sweet Tooth.

Unable to contain his sick hunger for all things sweet, Humpfry grew and  grew as he tore through the honeyhives in Groddle Meadow, then moved to the Heights. He expanded and bloated and finally the giants could no longer ignore the exploits of the poor, misguided Humpfry the Humongous.  They decided to save him from himself.

The giants removed all the honeyhives from Ur and locked them away, only distributing honey to certain vendors of good standing (Humpfry was, of course, prohibited from purchasing any).

However, in a rather tragic turn of events, Humpfry was recently pelted with chunks of sparkly thrown from the hands of overzealous glitchen with poor aim.  It was not their fault--they wanted only to get theirs into the shrine to contribute to the feat.  Humpfry's sweet tooth was knocked right out of his slightly less enormous head.

The giants now feel that it is safe to return the honey hives back to Ur.

The contributors will buy honey.  The honey will have a new verb "slather" (much like the watering cans have the 'soak' verb).  The object will be to slather as many glitchen in honey as possible.  One can slather oneself but only once per game day.  If the minimum goal is reached, Honey Hives will be placed back in the world.
    ----------

This feat would probably not be plausible right away as it would take introducing a new resource and adding a new verb to an already existing object, but it would be a way to introduce player-gathered honey and to help get rid of all those currants just lying around.

Oh, and what creature makes honey, you ask?  I don't know.  But I think Ladybugs might be cute.

  • Sink and Soak

Did you know our watering cans allow us to soak other players? I am constantly surprised to see how many players do not know about this function. It is a decent mood booster, but more than that, it is one of the least loved actions you can do - it doesn't even have its own animation!

I think that a feat involving soaking someone in x number of streets- counted per Glitchen* - would be great to not only spread awareness of this but also could be the prelude to some new watery features!

*This means if I soaked little poundcake in Cebarkul, I would get credit for one contribution. If I soaked little poundcake again, nothing. If I soaked Stoot Barfield in Cebarkul, nothing. If I moved to Oktyabra and soaked little poundcake, I would get another contribution. The person soaked doesn't matter, only the place does for each Glitchen. So if x was 333,333 then we could have 333 Glitches go to 100 streets, soaking a random Glitchen along the way, and get 333000/333333. I hope it makes sense!

Legend: The Giant Hayride in the Sky

A happy young glitch, Daevy Asha, was in tears the moment his beloved chicken, Chuckles, made a startling cluck, then *poofed* unceremoniously into thin air. “Why?!” he cried and cried. His father, Jhames, hugged him close and explained that Chuckles, like all ascended chicken, had joined the Giant Hayride in the Sky.

    “So, there’s music and sammiches?”

    “Yes, son. And snocones, too.”

“But…what if they hit a bump or something and Chuckles gets hurt?” Daevy let out a gasp. “Poor Chuckles!”

“Hmmm,” Jhames wondered, “perhaps there’s some way we could make Chuckles’ journey a bit more comfy.”

After a period of silence Daevy exclaimed, “I know! We can donate extra bundles of grain!”

So, father and son set about collecting and bundling as much grain as they could squeeze for the Giant Hayride in the Sky. Word of Daevy’s story quickly spread, and soon all of Ur had rallied in support. And lo it happened, after the (x) bundle of grain had been donated, that Daevy Asha smiled again.

Feat: In honour of our ancestors’ unyielding compassion and solidarity, collect and donate (x) bundles of grain for the Giant Hayride in the Sky.

  • +1 for Miss Parsley’s idea. I love meeting new glitches and playing together. What about having street projects with other glitches in order to repair / restore broken streets, seams, subways, etc.? [If repeat, oops!]
+1 for GiaTori’s idea about a new giant. If TS doesn’t want to create a new giant - what if one had a child, sort of like Hercules?
All of these ideas are great. I can’t even think of more to add! I would suggest that the probability of winning a feat would rotate between players. IE., the QQ was geared towards new players where sparkly was geared toward older players (or financially wealthy ones) and a few were going out and yelling this game is preposterous!

  • The zombie apocalypse
I’m a bit surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention something like this in this thread.  One day, some random time, a test tube experiment in Cebarkul goes horribly wrong and everyone on the street becomes a zombie(Or maybe just a percentage of glitches that die come back as zombies).  Zombie Glitchen have 0 mood and cannot regain it, nor can they die.  However, they can gain significant IMG and/or currants by eating the brains of normal glitches.  These glitches then become zombies themselves, out to feast on the brains of others.

An individual goal might be to have as many minutes spent on public streets as possible without becoming a zombie; you have to be on a public street for minutes to accrue.  The zombie Glitchen have the goal to turn as many glitches into zombies as possible.  The process of eating brains shouldn’t be too difficult to do, but not super easy, either.  Maybe there is no option to go home if you are on the same street as a zombie; you must get to a safe street first.  Zombie Glithen can roam the home streets, but they are docile and cannot eat your brains there.  Zombies seem to know when non-zombies are around, so maybe the mini map shows normal players differently to zombies(but not the other way around).

Perhaps it could end when the public streets no longer have any normal glitches on them for a certain amount of time.  Or maybe a cure is found, but needs to be spread from street to street by any remaining normal glitches.  Once a street gets the cure, any zombie glitches going there are cured.

Much of this doesn’t fit very well into the current feat mechanics, but I think it would be fun.

  • Build High for Happiness!

There was once a little Glitchling named Skyla and ever since she was little, she loved the sky and the Giant that watched over it.  She felt that Cosma was her special childhood friend playing peekaboo as the sun hid behind the clouds and came out again.  Yet Skyla was always a little sad that she couldn't give her best friend a hug and kiss.  Her parents were no help.  They just said the sky was too far away and Giants aren't for hugging anyway.  Skyla was not going to give up so easily.

As she grew up she tried many things.  She started with boxes and step stools and moved to climbing tall trees and mountains.  She discovered the springy power of spinach but it did not get her high enough.  She worked with her fellow Cosmapolitans to develop the skill of Levitation but even all the Bubble Tea she could drink could not make her concentrate long enough to meet her friend.

So she concocted a bold and dangerous plan.  She would build a tower.  The tallest tower ever built.  A tower that she could climb to the very top of and hug her friend at last.  It was a massive undertaking. Gltiches from all over Ur came bringing metalcrafts and wood and the gifts of their labor.   It took countless ages but at last the tower was complete and the hug given and the warmth of that moment has caressed us ever since when the sun is in the sky.

So since that day we celebrate in remembrance of Skyla and the lengths she went to for a special friend.

Feat 1:  In remembrance of the Great Tower and the joys of building, the feat is add floors to every Glitches tower or home.  The goal is reach X amount of IMG gained from tower and home building projects.

Feat 2:  In remembrance of the Warm Embrace, Gltiches must exchange X number of hugs and kisses.

  • Amazing Bouncy Bean Feat

Once long ago only bean trees grew in Ur, they were found in every place. Liipinhi was a Glitchen who was very fond of beans, no matter what other foods the Giants imagined he refused them preferring instead to harvest daily from every bean tree in Ur this resulted in him amassing huge quantities of beans and as he was a very devout and loyal Spriggot he would donate much of his bean harvest to Spriggan.

Quest 1 Bean There Done That - Gather beans, gather as many beans as you can and donate to any Spriggan shrine - for each (x qty) donated you receive (n qty) paper bags**

Liipinhi's love of beans never wavered and such was his zeal that he began to wear out every bean tree, The cries of the hungry Glitchen reached Spriggans ears and he was moved by their plight, besides he was growing tired of beans being the only donations he received, so he imagined seasoned beans.

Spriggan showed them to Liipinhi who immediately fell in love with the many coloured beans. You may have these Spriggan told him so long as you promise to plant them, Liipinhi eagerly agreed not realising that many were hidden behind Spriggans' giant frame.

It was only when Spriggan had left that Liipinhi realised just how many beans there were. Wisely Liipinhi decided he could not possibly plant them all himself so instead he carefully crafted small paper bags into which he placed one of each of the seven varieties of seasoned beans in short he made bean bags which he then distributed to the other Glitchen, delightedly they ran off to plant new trees throughout Ur some were beans but many were new tree types. To this day whenever a tree patch is spotted Glitchen will rush to plant a new tree in it.

Quest 2 Beans for All - Create seasoned beans place one of each type into the paper bags** to make bean bags then give one beanbag to each Glitchen you meet out in Ur. (no giving multiples to the same Glitchen) ((more paper bags can be made using flour + cups of water + paper))

When Sriggan looked down he smiled as he saw the Glitchen lovingly tending each new tree, watering petting and when strong enough harvesting, life was good, but life was especially good for Liipinhi, he was filled with such joy that he no longer walked anywhere, instead he bounced. He bounced throughout Ur planting trees and wherever he went his happy gleefulness would spread among the Glitchen, for when others saw him they would laugh and join him, some would follow some for hours, some for less but all would end up smiling, feeling warm and happy.

Quest 3 Jumping Beans - With a bean bag in your pocket (bag slot) Boing (bounce double bounce & tripple bounce) solo or in a group of two or more, (the larger the group the better) around a pre determined route (dev selected), Complete the full route solo or as a team for the points, No walking only boing-ing, Could be enhanced using follow, added bonus points for multiple laps as a team (2 or more)

After so much bouncing the Glitchen were both tired and hungry, they still had trees to plant, water and harvest, piggies to nibble, there were still rocks to be mined and gardens to tend, and so it was all Glitchen slowly returned to their normal happy lives. All that is but Liipinhi who bounded off to find new places to plant his trees. As time wore on his friends bagan to wonder what had happened to the bouncy bean bearing Glitch. Eventually Liipinhi returned bringing with him many tales of strange new places and a recipe for something most wonderous that he called Rainbow Juice. Much celebrating was had, a feast was set and fun and frolics spilled out over Ur lasting way into the night

Quest 4- Full o Beans. Time to celebrate, (x qty) locations (dev decided) in Ur to hold a rainbow bounce party visit all ( x ) locations and pour a rainbow, then bounce in as many different rainbow bounces that you haven't poured to earn more points.
