  • Did you add any new butterflies recently? Apparently, there's a limit to how many butterflies can be on your street. You will have to get some friends to take them off your hands. They get depressed when there are too many of them(butterflies) on one street. hope this helps. :)

  • Lahutchi, you can also 'release' butterflies. This 'sets them free'. If you release one at a time, you'll quickly find how many your street can support.

  • Sometimes you just need to wait a bit. They'll stop whining.

  • someone else could have given them butterflies. Or some other kind of animal. When I added too many pigs the butterflies got unhappy first.

  • Try leaving and coming back; I think the crowding thing might be a bit buggy. If giving them a bit of time doesn't help then release some.

  • When your animals get near or at the max allowed, some of the animals will be unhappy for a short time but eventually it goes away (generally as soon as you leave the area and then come back).

I did have the confusing issue once where I had the max allowed butterflies and when they started to die they started to complain about it being too crowded again. The only thing I could think of was maybe the game saw the number change and because the number of the remaining butterflies was still high enough for them to complain, they did. Even though it makes no sense from a logical standpoint as the number was decreasing and not increasing like when you get the same effect when you initially release them onto you street.

Maybe something similar happened to you.

  • lahutchi, did you check whether you had a baby animal in your inventory? This happened to me once when I carried 5 baby animals in my inventory- the adult animals on my yard started inexplicably griping. Apparently I'm near the max animal cap.

  • Zen Biped, I totally believe that happened to you, but it completely baffles me that this would be the case. :\

I feel like "number of animals on homestreets/number of equipments" thing really needs to be figured out and either explained very clearly to players somewhere, or answers made readily available to guides/staff so that when people ask about numbers there's a definite answer (at least for fully expanded streets).

  • there was a baby hidden behind something on the ground, but no, no one else was in my house... must be that. i let a few butterflys go, and then reloaded a couple times. must be ok now...

  • If you haven't maxed out your back yard or street size, you can increase it. The max number of animals you can grow seems tied to the street / yard size, so that's another way to fix it.
