Glitches with all skills: Are you buying the Learning Speed upgrade cards?

I think i bought a few when the upgrade cards first came out, but I haven't in a while.  I have all the skills so it didn't seem that important.  They keep cycling through and I'm wondering if I should get them now that i'm rich with iMG again?

  • Well, if you aim is to have every skill, I would, after getting every other upgrade (aside from BC, ET, and CM upgrades).

They will affect skills that will be released in the future.

How you strategize/specialize is something you (the reader) will have to figure out.

  • I bought all, mostly to get them out of the way and in case of new skills xD

  • I bought them because they kept showing up and lessening my probability of getting cards for other things I still didn't have. :P

  • I bought them all. Though I waited a while at first to buy them. Eventually I got tired of waiting to get other cards so bought them so I could get them out of the way. I'll need them eventually, I'm sure.

  • No. I am not. Nor do I have any impending plans to do so. I can wait the days it takes to learn a new skill and don't have to be the first kid on the block with the new toy.

  • what woochi said, with the addendum: if there comes a time when i have bought everything else and have a huge surplus of img, i might buy some, but i imagine i'd have to spend a LOT to make any real difference in my learning time.

  • I'm currently still buying stuff up..but I went ahead and maxed them.. comparatively they were cheap to buy.  On top of that they were preventing stuff I wanted.  Mind you I now want to get the skill max cards.  But honestly I didn't buy them until I was doing nothing but buying quoin multipliers and energy up anyway.

  • All skills, haven't bought any. 2170% time penalty. I'm not an impatient person. I can wait a few days, or weeks, if that's what it comes down to.

  • I haven't bought any, so I just have the ones that replaced BL5. When skills are released at a slow pace like they are now, I don't mind the wait. If a lot of good stuff comes out I'll consider some unlearning or the learning time upgrades.

  • What flask said which is what woochi said.

  • I only consider buying them if I want to see the next card and am out of reshuffles - haven't done it, or not more than once or twice.

  • I've been buying them here and there when I had the IMG to spare. Where I've been sadly slacking is the Brain Capacity cards...time to work on those next!

  • I've been buying them. They've helped out with the last few skills that I have to learn.

  • I bought the ones that speed up the learning times for the categories, but I haven't bought the brain capacity ones.  At this point, I don't mind waiting 5 days or more to learn a new skill.  I'm buying up the quoin multiplier cards first; then I'll work toward getting the brain cap ones.

  • I haven't bought any of them. I may buy them after I have all the others and after I have my street the way I want. Or if we get a new skill that's going to take a year to get.
There's just so many other things I'd rather spend my iMG on. And really, right now it doesn't make much of a difference as far as my Glitch goes if I were to buy them.

  • Yes and No.

  • I bought all the things. The only stuff I haven't gone for is energy tank (and that's the only thing left aside from GOOH and reshuffle cards). I would probably do quoin upgrade first though if you want to prioritize.

  • I bought every single card and now am working on getting my BC to 60 (only 5 more to go) then will slowly work on quoin. I'm still undecided about raising my tank (currently at 2100) though.

  • i did not buy them yet, did not know that they affect future skills....

  • No, I will buy when new skills come out.
Posted 6 months ago by snarkle Subscriber! | Permalink
  • No. Haven't felt a need to. Perhaps once I have my quoin multiplier maxxed, I'll think about it, if they haven't released anything else cool by then. ;)

  • Yes, I concentrated on buying all quoin upgrades and brain capacity upgrades.  This way I am prepared for the future skills.  By doing this my IMG has gone as low as 7 at timesbut who cares at this time there is not that much use for IMG but to buy upgrades. I have reached the 100 in quoin and am waiting for more BC upgrades.

  • I bought em all.  I have everything; now I only get energy and the random reshuffle and get out of hell free card... I figure what else am I gonna use the Img for??     I think they are nice little boosts even though we don't seem to be what we were prior to conversion.   But better than not having them, anyway.

  • The only thing I haven't bought is energy, and I've bought everything else. I bought the skill learning upgrades immediately.

I ran out of stuff to buy, late '48 early '49. (Brain 60, Quoin 100)

  • I'm holding off on these until new skills are released. I imagine (heh) that it will be a while before that happens again, so I'm concentrating on things that benefit me now, like quoin multiplier upgrades, particularly since I am not wealthy in the iMG department.

  • What Woochi said with the addition of if a new skill comes out and I want to learn it faster I'll donate to the giants and spend the favor in increasing the learning speed, just like I've done for the last few skills I learned.

  • I don't think I've bought any.

  • I've decided a while ago to try to make icons. The process of creating & sacrificing seasoned beans (about to switch to eggs) has generated a ******-load of IMG, and learning speed upgrades are one of the things I spent it on. I think of it as getting back to the abilities I had before the upgrade card switchover.

  • I haven't bought any, as far as I remember. I'm in no rush, and there are other upgrades I'd rather have (quoin multipliers, harvesting and other skill bonuses in particular).

  • (when) "I  want to learn it faster I'll donate to the giants and spend the favor in increasing the learning speed"

That's a good idea Devva. I'd all but forgotten that you can spend emblems.

  • I'm leaving them as my very last resource to use Imagination up. Which means that I won't probably buy them for twenty or thirty-eight years more.
Posted 6 months ago by Ayzad Subscriber! | Permalink
  • They are my lowest priority.  However, I will eventually buy them, as I remain very slightly hopeful that Glitch will eventually follow EVE's example and make it so that one _never_ runs out of skills to train, so one always has a choice to make about the direction one wishes to go.
Posted 6 months ago by Meromorphic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Eve's skill system of always having something to learn looks good on paper, but it led to some rather silly skill selections "Oh you know how to shoot lasers. But you don't know how to shoot battleship lasers; that's a different skill!  And we'll let you buy things while you are in space, but selling things in space? That's a different skill. Oh, wait, you wanted to place a buy order instead buying items directly? That's a third skill. Reducing transaction fees? Reducing broker fees? Two different skills for you!"

Lots of skills is good, but I want each skill to be meaningful, and Glitch is already starting to push the boundaries  (7 levels of animal kinsmanship? 5 levels of mining? Upgrade cards needed as well?)

  • yes I bought them all early, I am out of upgrades with the exception of energy tanks, reshuffles and get-outta-hells.

Posted 6 months ago by WeavingTheWeb Subscriber! | Permalink
  • No, and I doubt I will.
I'm in no hurry to have a new skill - it's not going anywhere.
Maybe when I have all the other cards and loads of img to spend, I'll get them.
Posted 6 months ago by Zira Subscriber! | Permalink
  • They are the cheapest cards, so yes.
Posted 6 months ago by Kirnan Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Nope. Trying for 100x quoin multiplier and 5000 energy tank before I think about that.

  • I haven't been buying them, although I probably will when I've gone through any other upgrades. I have been collecting brain capacity upgrades to speed up new skills a bit though.

  • I bought them all. Because they were there.

  • What Siren said... xD Not in an iMG crunch, and they were in the way of things that I was sure were more interesting.
