Forever barred from speeding learning, despite the text

I'm pretty sure I've seen this listed as something people know about, but since there's no message and thus it's not working as I expected which meets the description of a defect I have to deal with at work =)

A few skills ago, I started better learning V. It was like 9 days. After I started it, I saw another one I wanted, so I jumped over to it and popped it on. After it finished, I restarted BL5. It has, since I got it, said I'm learning fast, but the ticker is running at normal speed. I still have over 7 days to go.

There was a warning I'd lose speed when I've switched tasks before (no idea if I got one on this skill, as I didn't even understand what this meant before), but never a warning that not only would I lose speed, I'd lose the ability to ever move a task at speed again. Either that should be in the popup/description, or it shouldn't happen.

That's one Glitchian's opinion.

  • "Speed" is a questionable term really, because you don't suddenly see the seconds tick by faster, it simply removes time from the remaining all at once.

Did you speed up BL5 at all before switching to the other?
In my experience, you will have to wait (about the amount of time that you removed) to be able to speed it up again.

I do still think it is a bug in a way, but I just thought I would pop in and let you know that you might be able to speed it later, if you're patient and leave it running, and that everyone has to deal with this so at least you aren't alone. And we all seem to  agree, it sucks!

Not sure, but unless I was really good, I'm sure I didn't manage to donate that much. Right now, 3 days since I restarted it, it still says I'm learning super fast and has said it since I restarted it.

  • Too bad that nobody with more info has gotten back to you yet, I was also hoping to get this figured out too, because I left my gardening on for 24h and still couldn't speed it either, I didn't think I had sped it that much although it is possible that I did...

  • Yeah,  no,  I accidentally switched skills after speeding up BL4 or 5 by a few hours when I had only just started.

I was unable to speed it up again for the duration of the skill

  • I've seen this behavior before, multiple times. I've yet to pin down an exact cause, but it seems to involve utilizing favor before pausing the skill AND pausing the skill multiple times. Not an exhaustive test by any means and there may be alternative triggers, but that's what I've seen.

  • I only paused it once (that I recall) but I did learn two skills while it was paused.

So far, 4 RL days have passed and, all evidence to the contrary, my magic rock assures me he is learning super fast.

An annoying bug, but since I'm enjoying the rest of the game and truly don't give a rat's arse about racing through, I'm living with it.

  • Oh. I've just encountered this. Accidental skill switch, then I can't use any more favour points after I switch back. Bit sad, because donating and using favour points to speed up skills is one of my fave things to do. I expect I'll live.

  • I'm just encountering this problem right now, with a skill that will currently take over 16 days to learn, and I'm EXTREMELY UNHAPPY about it. I typically donate to the maximum amount allowed to speed up skill learning, and had even raised the favor limit for the appropriate giant to 3600 in preparation for learning this skill.

    EXTREMELY UNHAPPY.

  • If you speed learning a particular skill and change to another, it stops you from speeding it again. Not all skills, just that particular one. This is not a new thing, it has always been that way.
