my butterflies dies at my house?

I hasn't play glitch again for like 2-3 months and when I'm back I found my 8 something butterflies died and left me only four butterflies.

Now that I only have 3 piggies and 4 chickens, my butterflies still keep being dead, one each day.. only left me one butterfly today :( . I look to the wiki and I'm not sure I see a way to keep my butterflies intact. What shall I do?

  • Butterflies at your house seem to die much faster than the ones on the streets, no matter how much you sing, massage, and milk.

  • Milking butterflies is what kills them.  Singing to them extends their lives a bit.

  • If you have a RHK milker in your yard that will definitely speed their demise (and the fewer you have, the faster they will die off).

  • I kept statistics for awhile and found that butterflies milked by a milker lived for about 6 days.  There is a pretty steady market in butterfly eggs for replacement purposes.

  • How long they live depends on the number of milkers and how often you empty them,  but also the number of butterflies.

I have about 15 in my house normally and they last longer than a week

  • Don't use a Milker, it makes them die faster.  My kept dying rather quickly.  I hatched several new ones and I just ignore them most of the time.  No milking, no massaging, no singing.  I have had them for quite a while.  When My milker filled I did not empty it.  I occasionally massage one or two or get some milk from one or two.  Beyond that I try to ignore them and they are lasting much longer.

  • I'm wondering if the code around butterflies has changed.  I've noticed a dramatic increase in how fast they die now, vs a few weeks ago; assuming all other factors to be the same.  In other words, I have the same number of piggies and chickens (not many), the same number of auto feeders, milkers and meat lockers; and the butterflies are dying a lot faster now than they did a month ago.  (Or so it seems; I realize that anecdotal reports are not datum.)

I don't remember seeing anything in the updates about butterflies, so it could just be a perception thing, but I've given up on butterflies for a while, having gone through way too many of them lately to make it worth while.

  • Yeah, there are plenty of butterflies on the street that you can milk - I also have given up with butterflies, and replaced them with more pigs; maximum meat + EHSP = massive donation win :)

  • So they die!  Big deal - just replace them.   Butterfly milk from milkers is free money.   Stack it somewhere and when it piles up just bag it and walk it to the tool vendor.  6.4C per bottle.  80 bottles per stack.   That tool vendor will give you over 8K currants for a bigger bag and all you do is empty the milker and hatch new eggs once a week.
