Doctor Who themed outfits?

Well, anyone that loves Doctor Who knows that the Doctor always dresses snazzy! Wouldn't it be neat if you could dress like your favorite Doctor? There's 11 to choose from, and the outfits would look GREAT in Glitch!
Check out some of the outfits the Doctor has worn over the years:

All 11 Doctors
The 1st Doctor
The 2nd Doctor
The 3rd Doctor
The 4th Doctor
The 5th Doctor
The 6th Doctor
The 7th Doctor
The 8th Doctor
The 9th Doctor
The 10th Doctor
The 11th Doctor

Like I said, these would all make excellent clothing options that I'm sure many Glitch fans would love!
Keep it in mind?

  • On the general theme of British specfic shows, how about a Prisoner jacket, or the butler's umbrella?

  • On the subject of TV shows in general, how about Finn's awesome hat?

  • Can we get a Zooniverse jacket from Mighty Boosh?  Pretty please?  Or the Parka from the Tundra episode?  "Look deep into the parka!"  I'd keel over for some Boosh-wear!

  • Bob Fossil's blue suit? Naboo's curly-toed sneakers? The Xooberon tribeleader's tall hat ("I'm taller than most things! Chairs, beach-balls, women on their sides...")?

  • Copyright law? Or transformative/derivative? (devil's advocate, here)

  • that's non commercial "Fan Art", and is typically tolerated even when it violates copyright because there is no money in pursuing legal action and it would make fans angry.

Tiny Speck is a company with multiple millions of dollars invested in it. they would be selling Doctor Who identified clothing for credits purchased with actual money. they are a much, much more tempting target.

game companies pay a lot of money for the right to use popular characters from television and film in their games. sometimes television shows and films will pay game companies to include stuff from their upcoming release in their games, since it is promotional. in either scenario there is a legal agreement between the game company and the rights holder.

some stuff is fair game as parody. i think the Mike Tyson grill falls into this category.

some stuff is surely not protected under copyright since it is so generic, like the 11th doctor's tweed jacket.

but if TS came out with a full suite of doctor who clothing, including items as iconic as a beige blazer with red trim with an ever fresh stick of celery pinned to the lapel and a cricket sweater underneath? that is rather easily identified.

  • personally i'd love to see them start charging for glitch versions of all 30 NHL team sweaters, instead of the one sly take on a canucks jersey they have in there.

you know, just to see if the NHL cares.

    it isn't my money though.

  • Stri, I will admit that I poked that badger knowing that you would describe the situation far better than I ever could. ;D Thank you!(I also want more sweaters... sigh.)

  • @striatic: There's a trick to get around that. They could emulate the style that's a clear reference to The Doctor without being him proper. League of Legends does this a lot with their skins. Example: the King Rammus skin.
