Show us your creations!

So, you all are a crafty bunch, right? You've got real-life Tinkering chops, a knack for Penpersonship, and maybe even some "La!" skills enough to make Crabs swoon?

Well, we want to see all the Glitch-flavored creations you've put your hand to: dolls, drawings, bubble collections, anything really. And if you haven't already, now is the time to start. After enough people chime in, we'll do a blog post featuring this world of Ur-craft.

Go ahead and respond in the comments here with a link to a picture (or other file) of the bits of Glitch you've brought into being. Be a Giant for a day, we're excited to see what you come up with.

  • Brandi, can you please make and sell those???
Posted 15 months ago by Innie✿, Obviously Subscriber! | Permalink
  • She can't, @Innie. TS license issues. TS IS planning on releasing stuff though. They have someone for it, but everyone is occupied with getting the game up and running first.

  • Aspasia...while I have spent hours reading the forums instead of making stuff, you have shared both before and after photos. You made A THING. I think it might need a matching Groddle Forest quilt, though (she said devilishly).

  • Thanks, Brandi!

Voluptua... you are probably right. Alas I do not think I could start and finish such a thing tonight. (Scouting out fabric options though? Yes.)

  • OMG I love that hat. I may have to try to make one myself. Winter is COMING, you know!!! I really love seeing everybody's creativity in this thread! Congrats, Linnaea! Shagbark, I was thinking of doing one of those next, too! I hope you let us see yours when its done!

Aww nuts....Now I want to make a billion things, and no time to do it. BUT I WILL GO AHEAD AND TRY IT ANYWAYS!!!

  • Bwahahaha, I just got an "Uh oh" from my boyfriend when he noticed what thread I was reading. I think he's getting tired of me dragging him to craft stores five times a weekend.
Posted 15 months ago by Jia-pop Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Speaking of craft stores.  We went to two of them today looking for stencils.
One said they don't carry letter stencils.  And they other said they don't carry any stencils at all.

I mean WTF?  Isn't that one of like the most basic crafty items in existence?
Posted 15 months ago by Vicereine Linnæa Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I KNOW! They don't have the most random things that you think they should have. It's like...they know you're looking for it and they just disappear.
Posted 15 months ago by Jia-pop Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I can find you a stencil maker. Not just the stencils, but the stencil MAKER! I saw them for sale if I recall correctly in the department my mom runs at a Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart! She handles the crafts, sewing, and seasonal sections.

  • Too late!  We just came home, printed letters out on the computer and cut em out with an razor knife.      They were 1-time use that way, but its all we needed. :)

  • Btw, FF, saw your frog hat idea with the propeller? Love it. You should totally do it! Could maybe find an already made cap and then decorate it, or if you're any good with sewing or knitting (dunno, maybe you are!) what about a green, decorated beanie with the frog eyes and mouth on it, figure out a way to make the propeller detachable? Multi-purpose hat, for when you feel Glitchy or just green!

  • @Jia-pop, I do 3D graphics. Pixels, but the suggestion sounds fun. I'd love to do it. And I can sew. :D

  • I've seen your stuff that you posted! (At least, I"m pretty sure it was you who posted them. All this time I thought it was) And they are awesome! Go exercise your fierce sewing abilities!!! Dooo iiiiittt....Riiiiibbbiiiittt.....Check out my yoga!

  • Brandi I love your work!  Also I love Kukubee's art!  The two of you together make things I long for.  Thanks for sharing them here.

  • Aw! Thanks, Brib Annie. :) There's so much creative talent packed into this thread. It warms my nerdy, gaming Glitch-sized heart. More...MORE, I SAY!
Posted 15 months ago by Brandi Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yep.. I posted them. Thanks for the compliment. I'd practice my skills if I can find the materials. I'll look into it though. I really do enjoy sewing.

  • So Aspasia, I think that burgundy fabric in the next photo in your photostream might, just might, be begging to be made into a spice plant for the piggie to sleep under.

You guys are all so talented, and in so many different ways.  Love this place.

  • This thread delights me. :'D

Brandi, I'm already in love with your cubimal plushes, and Aspasia, that is the most adorable piggy! I love that pattern, it's really cheery. And did you joint all the legs so they move?

Jia-Pop has me making a tiny crochet piggy. Right now he's just a pink nugget and two pink triangles that are destined to become ears, though! And I need more felt! A crocheted mini-me is on my list of things to do... I just need to convince myself to make whole glitches. Very tempted to just make a whole host of glitchy heads.

And I write haiku. As soon as the next test starts, I intend to return to my dissemination of them throughout Ur. I share with you all my jellisac haiku, because I am inordinately proud of it:

    Jellisacs, their slick
    And bulbous bodies slide through
    These hands still unskilled.

  • I almost forgot...the Rook is coming...eventually!

  • Can I just say, I'm in love with everything here (and definitely intimidated by Aspasia's lightning-fast turnaround on that piggy). Beautiful work!

ETA: To those who still have things in progress - this'll be open for another few days at least, so keep 'em coming.

  • Ok, originally i wanted to use this closed phase after the test to open up a new thread releaving the truth, but this thread comes in very handy, so here´s my creations, which i made sure some of you had already come across ingame ;)
And i hereby apologize in case someone didn´t like to be confronted with my something-unreachable-keeps-the-thrill-cubimal theory, but i felt like once u have had all cubimals the first day mystery would just disappear over time (as started to happen to me too after getting the achievement in some way).
    So heres the Cubie art:

  • It's going to take me a while to start/complete Tiny Voluptua, so I won't be able to post within the next few days, Blanky, but in my quest for a perfect basic body pattern, I remembered seeing
    these knitted trees!
They're not Glitch trees, but the pattern to make 'em is available for free...so they could become Glitch trees!

I am off to make a secret project which I have to finish by tomorrow as I leave for a business trip (paper and fabric may accompany me!)

  • Brandi, that Rook is so amazing!  I can't wait to see the finished bird!

To everyone else, I am so amazed!  You are all very creative!  I am slow these days and cannot make anything in time but maybe by Christmas.  I do love all of these bits of art and look forward to the new page which will display it all.

  • Voluptua Sneezelips - those knitted trees are so neat, can you post the link for pattern please?

So many really cool things, I havent done any handicraft for some years but this is making me want to!

  • Varekai: Whoa, a spice tree would be awesome! Unfortunately the burgundy fabric has about as much bright green and pink as burgundy (it's a giant floral print), but now I want to hunt around through my stash for something more appropriate. Piggy definitely needs some accessories.
Haiku: Yup, the joints are articulated. Short legs kind of limit the drama of the poses the piggy can strike, but he can lie down and stuff. (p.s. I LOVE seeing your haikus scattered around, it makes my game-day whenever I find one!)
Katchen: That is the best idea EVER. (Wish the stuff I preserve had adorably-labelled analogues in the game… I am a marmalade and plums-and-honey sort of gal.) Your catsup looks great, too.

  • You bet! The pattern is by Jude Butterworth, and you can find it:
    here, on her website.
(fyi, I originally found it on Ravelry, which you have to sign up to use, but it's a treasure trove of ideas, patterns, and peoples)  :)

  • You have no idea how badly I want to participate. I've been planning how I'm going to crochet the  Hyaenaling -- what shade of blue I'm going to use (whatever's closest to Nightcrawler), what material I'm going to use for her eyes and hair (I think I'm going with felt and embroidery thread, respectively), how I'm going to shape the nose, and the fact that I'm going to have to learn a new skill of making doll clothes. Also in the planning stages is how big I want to make her for maximum huggability quotient. I want it to be as close to my character as possible, and I am going to obsess over the tiny details.

Unfortunately, I'm planning on saving some money this year my making my own Christmas presents. My father wanted an afghan in Steelers colours, and I started that in June, but it has to be finished. I have it in mind to make a chunky cowl, a pair of granny-square slippers, and a pair of hand-warmers for my fashionable, law-school sister. My mother is getting a mess of pot holders, hand-warmers, and I have to figure out whatever else. Grandpa is always cold, so he gets socks and hand-warmers. And the new-ish boyfriend's (who is now playing the game!) mother, sister, and grandmother are getting scrubbers and dishtowels in plarn (yes, I spelled that right. It's "yarn" made from plastic bags.) giftbags.

THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO. Most of you guys see this is only September; I wonder why I've been slacking so much. So, the Hyaenaling will have to wait until 2012. I'm sad. And stressed -- but add it to the pile. Now I have to finish my crocheting for the boyfriend's birthday.

  • I have a music-block in the (early-early) planning stages... looked at and priced USB chips and everything. It'd probably be made of felt, and it'd probably be the GNG block... keep ya posted.

  • I have a few notebook pages full of Glitchy project ideas, but I haven't finished any yet (or even had the time to start on more than a couple), though this terrific thread has lit a fire under my smooth, muppety butt, so one should be finished this weekend.

Folderol, your work is beautiful!  I especially love the Kirby stuff.  Do you cut by hand?  Someone gave me a Craft Robo, but it feels almost like cheating to not use an X-Acto, so the machine's still sitting in the box.  Your blog made me want to figure out how to get it working, though!  So many things to do, so little time...

  • Lol then I will make sure it does- the crabs are my favorite :) ... that shouldn't be hard, either- maybe two extra minutes of soldering (if they're going to actually work and plug in).
