Griefing, Community Gardens, and Honor

So finally got purple seeds from auction last test.   Had to figure out what the mail box jumping was all about.

When I remembered the purchase, I spent a couple hours in Ilmenskie mining and guano tapping.  Then after taking the wife out to dinner I come back to do a little planting of my seeds using the community gardens spoken of so fondly by people in this Forum.

I plant my seeds in the only bare three plots in Shakra Pool Herb Gardens, lovingly water and guano them.

Then as I harvest my purple several minutes later I am accused of "stealing"  and called a thief.

"I am sure I planted those - I watch them like a hawk." I am told.

This will become an even more common occurrence as more and more people come into the game.  this is why I have suggested as have others that we have the ability to build herb plots in our houses.

I do not need to steal <snip> pixel flowers from random people.

So much for my not using 4-letter words hunh?  My entire evening is ruined because of the person who knows he planted my lowly purple seeds.  Can I prove it? Nope no more than his name is etched in every plot but the three I stood by.

Is he honestly believing that those were his plant?  Perhaps, they are not and his behaviour verges on harassment,  and to me it is griefing.

Devs, please get me a pot for my herbs so if someone wants to they can own the Community gardens.

Someone auction some batterfly guano LoL.

edit: I was angry when I posted this message and frankly some of the language was beneath me, and incendiary I have removed those words.  I came to an agreement with the player in question, got my two plants harvested and got out of the Herb Gardens.  I don't think I will be learning glitchy herbalism any time soon.

  • I wasn't gone very long, long enough for the plants to be ready to harvest but all the details are fuzzy in my head.  I don't know how long it would take something to vanish (mind, I didn't know things left out vanished, learn something new every day, huh?), so that could be the reason why my note disappeared.

  • Yeah, the community gardens for me are just somewhere to plant a little, water a little, munch a little as you're passing through.  As there's no actual ownership of stuff in it, you're heading for much frustration if you expect otherwise

  • "I think items vanish from the world if you leave them out there too long"

No this is not correct, things do not vanish on their own. Anything that is no longer there (including notes) was picked up. (Dropped water cups from Bureaucratic Hall or Sno Cones which melt away are exceptions.)

  • I don't think things automatically vanish (except between tests) If things vanish it's because someone picks them up :)

  • Notes may not always work, but my harvest some, plant some, self does not mean to be rude - if there's a clear note about just a few plots, with me at least, your plants stand a better chance of being there to harvest yourself.

  • As for this discussion - I think it's a good one. Different folks start out with different ideas about the community gardens and discussing that helps understanding.

  • I plant the crops/herbs I care in my house, so I don't have to wait to pick them up before someone else does.

Before the reset, I planted herbs in the community gardens because I had too many seeds. I think that if the game allows you to do an action, then there's no morale or honor code above of that, so for me, the community gardens are for planting or harvesting as much as you want.
