Quoin Multipliers Revisited

Ok, I know we've had other threads about this in the past but now we've all had some time to play with things. Is anyone having them work as they are supposed to? (Given the forum explanations that the upgrades actually add a percentage of 1 to the existing multiplier.)

I have a multiplier of 23.3. I assume that all of the quoins in existence have a MINIMUM value of 1, so the least I should get, when my mood is maximized is 23 (assuming they round down.) I do not. I still get 19 - and again - when my mood is at its highest. The qurazy quoins give me 666 iMG. This is exactly what they gave me before I had purchased a single quoin multiplier upgrade. These upgrades are not cheap. I paid 40,000 C for the last 100% upgrade. So, is there a maximum? - if so, the cards should not be offered once that maximum is reached; is this just a special bug that only I have? Is it a widespread problem?

  • Qurazy quoins are based on level and current mood level percentage.

There is no maximum, as of yet.

I believe quoins have a base value of 1, but there is a difference between currant quoins and the rest. Energy and mood quoins are not affected by mood, and have the same constant value (with the assumed base value of 1). iMG quoins also have the assumed base value of 1, but are also affected by current mood level percentage. Currant quoins have a slightly smaller base value, I believe.

    I believe.

  • A true test of the maximum you can earn from Quoins from the Quoin Multiplier cards would be the rare Quoins found in places like the Ancestral Lands.

  • Some quoins have a base value of 1.  Others have higher base values.

  • I think the point is she is not getting the minimum that she should get with her mood maximized and a quoin multiplier of 23.3.  The maximum she's referring to is (I think) the maximum multiplier

  • Yes mine works fine and it increases every time I buy an upgrade by the appropriate amount.

  • Frankly, it sounds like a bug Audaria. I'm at 112.5 multiplier and I always get 113 for all non imagination quoins. For imagination I get the 120% max mood modifier usually, so I get 135 from those. (1.2 * 112.5 = 135)

  • right. I have a multiplier of 23.3. If the quoins have a base value of 1 or higher, then the least I should get when my mood is max is 23. I've only been getting 19. I've been paying close attention to my mood to make sure that isn't what's lowering my quoin values.

I didn't realize qurazy quoins were dependent only upon level and mood. Thanks for that Palindrome. Since I haven't increased my level, that answers that part of the equation.

ETA: Thanks Liza. I'll bug it next time I'm in-game and it happens.

  • Good luck getting it sorted out :)

  • Hm, sounds like maybe a special bug only you have... Haven't heard of a quoin that gives less than your multiplier states :/. Everything else you mentioned works the right way, I think.

    E: oops! Too late :)

  • "For imagination I get the 120% max mood modifier usually..."

I thought I was pretty knowledgeable in the glitchy ways, but how does one get a 120% mood?
Posted 7 months ago by Merrylegs Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Sorry, that may have been a misplaced modifier error in my construction of that sentence ;) What I mean is there is a 120% modifier on the imagination you earn when your mood is 'maxed' (90% or above). The correct imagination for nibbling a piggy is 10, but when your mood is 'maxed' you get 12.

So, if you get an imagination quoin worth 1, which most are, you get your multiplier * 1.2 added to your imagination total if your mood is above 90% :)

  • Merrylegs: she means, if you're at max mood, iMG quoins are worth 120% of your quoin multiplier (they'll be worth 20% more than orher quoins).

e: OMG Liza, so speedy! Guess I should preview before posting XD

  • Ah, that all makes sense now. I thought I had missed some awesome herb or something. :)

  • I still find the math pretty confusing even after reading many posts about it.  I'm not sure it seems worth the high prices for the quoin upgrades.

  • It's a very long-term investment. 40k iMG for about +1 to most quoins will take a huge number of quoins to pay off. Or a less huge number of huge quoins, as in Ancestral Lands.

Then again, there's not yet an awful lot else that you'd want to spend iMG on.

  • I like jumping around like a drunken flea even more, now that my quoins are always worth more than 100.

  • Quoin Multipler cards seem to be the only iMG sink that everyone can agree on.

Brain Upgrades are useless until there are a significant number of new skills (and probably always since they are split into separate disciplines rather than just the "Better Learning" sequence).

I personally boosted my energy tank because I like being able to do a lot without having to watch my energy, but then again it means that I have to watch my mood instead.  So, Energy Tank upgrade cards are controversial.

Quoin Multipler cards are good for anyone who spends a significant time out in the world and have no downside that I can see.

  • Janitch, the mood tank is upgraded with the energy tank when you use the upgrade cards.
Posted 7 months ago by Dasher Subscriber! | Permalink
  • That's what janitch said. The higher your energy/mood tank the quicker you mood drops below 90% so you're having to constantly drink things to increase your mood. My energy tank is at 1000 and I feel like it is so hard to keep my mood above 85% lol

  • I have a quoin multiplier of 129. The Qurazy Quoins are worth 882 at highest mood and I have seen quoins in the Ancestral Lands wort 2700 and up.

  • I haven't put a great deal of thought into the higher energy mood equation, but I don't understand why the statement "the higher your energy/mood tank, the quicker your mood drops below 90%" would be true. In fact, that makes no sense to me. No matter how large your tank, you always have that "top" 10% to work with. If your tank is 100, a loss of 10 mood points will put you below the winky line. If your tank is 1000, it'll take a loss of 100 mood points. How does it drop quicker with the larger tank?
Posted 7 months ago by Audaria Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The issue isn't mood dropping faster -- I think that's a game of telephone with an overly simplified summary.  The real issue is the cost of getting the mood back up.  It's more expensive/difficult to get 100 mood back than it is to get 10 back.
Posted 7 months ago by Magic Monkey Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The reason it feels like mood drops faster at higher levels, is that it takes a lot more to maintain the same percentage. With a smaller energy tank, mood can easily be kept above 90% by petting and nibbling and harvesting. Larger tanks can't be maintained by regular game actions. My poor glitch always needs pockets & mouth & belly full of rookswort to compensate - and frequently gets the joy of 80,000 butterfly farts on her tongue all at once.
Posted 7 months ago by Aleph Zero Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I guess I just don't have that problem. My energy tank is higher (though not as high as yours Aleph Zero) but I am easily able to keep it above 90% by petting and nibbling and harvesting. If I was a frequent miner, I'm sure it would be different. As it is, I much prefer having a larger tank and therefore, more leeway before it drops below 90%.

  • I think someone just posted that they changed the way the Quoin cards read to make it more clear what you're buying.  I haven't seen it yet, but I hope so!
Posted 7 months ago by Fleep Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yup, the description is now not only super clear, but it also tells you your current quoin multiplier and what it will be after you buy the upgrade.

A normal card says 'Add 1.0 to your quoin multiplier!'
