Maximum Auction Price for Vendored items.

My suggestion is that items that are available at vendors in the game - such as tools, cameras, quills etc, should have a maximum auction price equal to the cost of them from the vendor.

The reason is that I often see auctions for 100c or 200c items that you can easily get in world from the vendors on sale for 1000c or more - the only reason I can see for this is to take advantage of players who don't know where to get items from.

I've no problem with selling on a tool or whatever that you've upgraded and you want to recoup some of your currents, that makes sense to me, but to be able to list those tools at 3 times the in world price isn't fair, imho.

  • If the price isn't fair, don't pay it - regardless of whether it's a vendored good or not.

  • there is also the advantage of DELIVERY. Say you’re mining in Ajaya Bliss and you don't want to leave to go buy something, just pay a little more and the auction frog will bring it right to you. I don't understand why everyone wants to impose rules, regulations, and restrictions on the free market that this game provides. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

  • Sure, there's advantages to buying from the auction rather than traipsing to the vendor, but for new players or those who maybe haven't seen the items at vendor, why should they end up paying three times the price?

If the price isn't fair don't pay it - this works, but like I said, how about people who don't know what a "fair" price is?

Sorry, I just hate to see people taken advantage of.

  • From what I understand, vendors will be selling less and less items over time.  At least, I assume that is what is meant by "removing the scaffolding over time" to have a player driven economy.  And I'd read that vendor prices are planned to fluctuate based on supply and demand in regions -- this idea just doesn't work with either of those and puts an artificial cap on the supply and demand system.

So buyer beware.  If they don't know what a fair price is, and are willing to buy without trying to find out, then they deserve what they get.

  • It might be helpful if auctions displayed additional information, such as a history of recent successful auction prices for that item, the expected price of the item (from the "info" tab) and the price paid by vendors. That would help both buyers and sellers converge to prices more quickly.

  • Okay I'm going to have one more stab at this and then I'll leave it be.

I, personally, do not think it's fair or desirable for people to profit so much from new players or players who aren't in world enough to "know better".

You mostly disagree, which is fine. They "deserve" to pay 2000c for a quill is a bit hard to swallow, to be honest, as until quite recently I figured Glitch to be a helpful sort of a community.

I'm sorry for wasting your time with carebearing.

  • I understand your concern, Lily - sometimes I too feel miffed by ludicrous over-pricing.  I do hope that most of the people who pay such high prices are doing so for convenience, rather than they simply do not know.
