Dear Tiny Speck,
Thanks for Glitch, it's awesome. I've so enjoyed beta testing these past few months. I've been taking notes this whole time, but haven't really been sure about the best way to get my feedback to you. When someone starts a thread that is relevant to an idea or feedback I have, I add to it. But I still have quite a list. So seeing as how the hour of reckoning is at hand, I'm just going to give all my feedback here and be done with it. Hopefully it can be helpful to you in this format, and if not, well, I tried.
First off, like a lot of other people, I got pretty bored at a certain point. I know the game has only been developed to a certain level, and I look forward to what's to come. I couldn't leave it off my feedback list, however, as boredom was one of the most persistent experiences I had playing the game. My other dominant experience was bliss and awe at the beauty of all the streets, especially the sexy, sexy parallax views in Ilmenskie.
Postive Feedback! Stuff I love that I associate particularly with Glitch (aka, You guys are geniuses):
1) The large black arrow that appears when you've set a destination, that I can click on and it will zoom me down the street to my next signpost. Like so many of us, my hands and wrists are injured and fragile, and this is makes HUGE difference to me. Even cooler would be a keyboard shortcut that would do the same thing as clicking on the black arrow.
2) The degree to which our facial features are adjustable in the vanity. This was brilliant. It allows for such an enormous range of different-looking faces without actually having that many unique feature designs.
3) The feature that tells me when I'm crafting how many of each base ingredient I'll have left after making the specified amount of whatever I'm crafting. This is such a brilliant feature.
4) The screen that flashes before I enter a location telling me what resources (butterfly, rock, tree, etc) are located on that street. I wish there were a way to get this info while on the street as well - a mouseover of the top right map area that would popup the same list?
5) No killing in Glitch! This feels unique, and makes me very happy. It sets a nice tone, I think, especially with the clever ways you've found to substitute.
6) And of course, my ramen noodle hat as seen from the back. I had no idea when I bought it - can't preview the back of items from the wardrobe. The first time I climbed down a ladder I about died from the awesomeness of the noodle hat's rear view!
Suggestions/improvement ideas:
7) I'd love to see every skill have a quest associated. They don't all have to be "teaching" type of quests, but it's tremendously fun to get to use my new skill on a quest that specifically makes use of it. Especially Penpersonship - that skill seems ripe for a fun quest.
8) "Feed 3" and "Crush 100" options for feeding pigs and refining ore. Fewer clicks are better, and having to click 3 times to feed piggy to get a plop is a huge drag. Not being able to refine exactly as much as the grinder can handle (i.e., 100 ore) is also a huge drag, especially when Flaming Humbabas are involved.
9) On the Piggy option menu, please move "rename" above "nibble" so I can go straight from "pet" to "nibble" without using the arrow key. That's how it works on unnamed piggies, and it's much more convenient.
10) Please have the Auctions title (over on the top left of the page) be a link that takes me back to the All Auctions page from a search results page. Otherwise (unless I am totally missing something) it's incredibly circuitous to get back to the main Auctions page. I can go to "Latest Auctions" or "Your Auctions" or "Browse By Type" but there's no way to search again easily.
11) Please have names that show up in Local Chat as notifications link to the player. For example, if GemGem gives me a hug, I'd love to be able to click on the "GemGem" in "GemGem gave you a hug" in order to give her a hug back without having to track her actual avatar down in a crowd, clicking people until I find her. This would also make following people much easier as well. In general the in-game player interface is fairly clunky. I often feel like I can't perform whatever action I'm trying to perform in time, before the player is out of range.
Ok, so those are my thoughts! Again, this is a terrific, beautiful, enticing, unique game, and I feel super privileged to have been able to play it and look forward to starting again soon!
