More things to spend emblems on

Before the reset I managed to get a gazillion emblems and they are pretty useless. They do give you mood, energy and XP but it is a pretty small amount and it is not worth hauling around 11 things in my inventory. I know someone suggested the ability to make a super-emblem but I would prefer to reject emblems or to be able to use the emblem to speed up learning.

Otherwise after a few months we have dozens of emblems lying around.

  • Dropping them on the street for others to pick up is a nice gesture... kinda like recycling emblems.

I like the sound of combining emblems, or higher tier emblems to give us something to work towards favour-points/donations wise.

  • I'm wondering if they plan to add either more skill trees (wouldn't that be cool? and I've seen many ideas for new ones in these forums) or possibly even higher-level skills in the existing trees...because at some point you'll learn all the skills and then perhaps be stuck for things to do. So maybe more emblems could be spent to unlock other skills? I'd enjoy that.

  • Stoot said more skills will be added down the line, in the discussion about BL5
    http://alpha.glitch.com/forum/general/1973/

The only problem I see with leaving emblems sitting around is, it leaves the younger players with the potential to backlog. It just delays the inevitable, which is lots of emblems no one knows what to do with.

I really like the idea of being able to use them to focus on a skill, or build some super-structure. Maybe the random Street Project requirement for them?

Oooooo the Super Shrine Street! Part of the Building Project could be to collect 500 of each emblem. The Shrines there only accept emblem donations. You could even give it 'upgrade options', for every 1000 emblems donated to a particular Giant, the Shrine itself grows a bit... until they're too big to see the tops of them. To get there... you'd have to spend an emblem to unlock a special teleport point via the Magic Rock, each time you wanted to visit. A really awesome Quest could be written to orient people to the street (once it's built), and the trigger could be the first Second Emblem they get.

That'd keep us quiet about emblems piling up for a while.

  • I like the ideas about more ways to spend emblems and using them as project requirements a lot.

I also thought it might be cool to have a "house shrine" where you insert all new emblems and get the combined proceeds of them (maybe with a slight bonus based on the number of emblems) all by considering/caressing/contemplating it once per day. A short speed learning boost might be a goal to work toward as well.

  • I really like the idea of donating them to projects.  Maybe there should be something like an "emblem box" at each project and whichever giant gets the most emblems donated gets a shrine for that street.

  • It occurs to me that people don't like the extreme grinding aspects of projects;  why not use the solution of one problem to provide the solution to another?  Suppose "spending" an emblem gave a one-hour buff of "[that giant]'s Blessing" which doubled or tripled one's efficiency with that Giant's primary skills (and maybe a lesser bonus on his/her/its secondary skills).  This could be used to drastically increase the efficiency of gathering or making anything necessary for a project.  Giants' blessings would not be additive, but the best bonus would be used for calculation purposes.  Each skill would probably need to be looked at individually, like Cosma's Blessing's effects on those with Better Learning (double the reduction from BL for an hour shouldn't be *that* unbalancing...) or Lem's Blessing on Teleportation (half the energy cost?), but I should think it wouldn't be too hard.

  • I like that idea Hazmat: it fits in well with the concept of the giants, and can be used for more than just working on projects.

I also presume that somewhere down the line there will be more advanced skills that will require spending a second/third/etc emblem to unlock.
