Issues with new version of Flash

On FF4 Mac and on Chrome.

- I can't use the enter button to interact with anything in-game.
- After the first time I click an item in my inventory, clicking an item just drops a link into chat instead of bringing up the context menu.

  • We need Flash!
Glitch requires the Flash Player, but you don't seem to have it installed.
May I recommend the latest version?
Having a problem? Need help? Tell us about it.

Keep getting this message. I have Adobe Flash Player 10.3. I was just in the game earlier. Now I cant get back in. Using IE Windows 7.

Edit: Ooooooh. I'm in again. *hApPyDaNcE*

  • I am having a bunch of flash crashes today, and lag issues. I'm using Chrome (confirmed current version) and Flash 10.3.181.22.

  • Having the same issue as Dagnabbit. I have one browser open running the game fine. I opened another for looking at skills, wardrobe, etc. Went to home page and had to log in on that browser even though I was already in game. Then it tells me I don't have flash. o.O

  • There are a couple different things being reported here.

Herp Derp's issue is one we know about, thought was fixed after last test.

We're definitely having problems with Flash set to not store files, those would give you a big giant warning, and just not let you go further even though we say we'll let you.

b3achy- be sure you are only running the browser for the game, but Chrome has been bogging down when left on for awhile. (And it has an annoying bug where chat text letters are lost.)

Serenity- your current browser is reporting to us Flash version is 0, which usually means the browser is confused, or has a problem that restarting it might fix. What other browser did you use?

Yes, this seems to be the warning I'm getting after crashing.  If I could figure out where to change it to store files locally I would just to avoid the crash...

And yes, it seems like Chrome is exhibiting the issues we had with FF last test...starts out fine, and then bogs down (if it doesn't have a flash crash)...don't you just love other app upgrades that affect your game?! lol...job security for the coders and devs ;)

  • b3achy- There are Flash specific settings you can change on this page, the left side links to settings manager widgets.

  • I am also having HUGE lag issues using Chrome. I have to restart the browser about once per hour to have any kind of play. I only use Chrome for the game. I literally downloaded Chrome specifically for the game because Glitch won't play at all on FF of any version.
I have the latest Flash and latest Chrome. The lag gets to the point where the game comes to a screeching halt and it can take minutes for me to type once sentence in the chat. Nevermind how long it takes for my avatar to take a step. Heh.

On that note, is there a thread about FF issues? I have only found the FF on Mac issue. I am on Windows and FF does not load the game at all. Would like to find some troubleshooting help to make it happen on FF. :)

  • kevbob - thanks for the link for Flash settings...if only I knew what to change? Just looking at that page makes my head hurt lol.

At the end of game party my Flash was awful, more than 50% of people were just wire frame and it crashed on me several times. But the EOG video posted is so clear with everyone clothed.

I also had the same same problem others mention this test having to restart browser when the game/chat lagged.

ETA: I checked the Local Settings Manager and already have it set to allow sites to save information.

  • Can I check/change my flash settings when the game is not open?
Posted 18 months ago by Momo McGlitch Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yes, Heather.
You all should make sure you "allow third party Flash Content to be stored on your computer" on the Global Settings page that kevbob linked to earlier.

  • Kevbob, it was the same as the one that was working IE 8.0.7600.16385

  • Thanks again folks- and we're making another request to be sure that you install the debug version of the latest Flash plugin- which you can download from the header link in the main Bugs forum index. With most error reports we get, the normal Flash player just does not generate enough usable information for the client developers. The more of these reports without the debug version we get, the harder it is to find out exactly what the issues are from the technical data. If you were present in the last hour of the test, we requested those with the debug player to reload the game, since we are getting even more from them than we were than earlier in that test. 'mo betta data means 'mo betta fixes for the game! If you have it installed already thank you! And in any case, we hope to get that Flash storage request problem solved soon. :)

  • Plus, (at least with Chrome) you have to disable the regular version of flash and enable the debug version, not just download and install it.
Posted 18 months ago by Zany Serendipity Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thanks Zany - I didnt know that. I downloaded and installed the debug some months ago, I thought!

kevbob, I saw the message to reload the game in the last hour but it said, 'You know who you are' so I figured it wasn't for me.

Now can someone please walk me through on how to disable regular and enable the debug version, thanks.

  • Hmm, kevbob...was getting that error, but alas, as I checked, I already had storing to local drive enabled...so haven't a clue what is up...I'm relatively computer savvy, so I'm here scratching my head over that error...will have to work on loading the debug version for you guys...thanks Zany for the info on it...

  • Thanks Zany!  Like Teena, I DLed the debug version a while back, but I didn't know I had to disable something in Chrome to get the debug version to work properly.  Hopefully it's set up properly now.  :)

  • Heather-From the link above that Zany posted it looks like you should disable the first one that you've posted.
Here are the directions for others:Go to the wrench on the upper right side. Then into "options", then into "under the hood", then into "content settings". Then scroll down to where it says "disable plugins". Then when that page opens-go to the upper right corner and click on "show details". Then you will find the two versions and disable the one.

  • Heya, speaking of debugger, we just put together something which outlines the steps involved with adding it.

    beta.glitch.com/help/faq/#q27

Installing the debugger can be confuzzling, so we hope this helps a bit.
Posted 18 months ago by kevbob Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thanks kevbob, still a bit confuzzling lol but I did it! Many thanks :)

Using Windows & Chrome. I didn't get an option to save the uninstaller or the debugger file.
I had to use the debugger link from the BUG forum header for some reason before it would work.
Posted 18 months ago by Teena Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Alright I followed the directions for disabling flash and making sure the debugger is the only one enabled for Chrome. However when I go to the link for Adobe that shows the version of flash player... it still says "no" in the debug spot.
Ummm is that right? I have checked and I disabled the correct one via the handy faq linked above.
