Improve (make more difficult) high skill quests

As I find myself finishing off some of the last available skills in the skill tree I'm noticing that the quests are really, really kinda weak for the effort that came before them. My suggestion is simply to re-evaluate the effort it takes to accomplish the quests that are out there and bump them up a notch (or 5). There needs to be a higher level of effort (maybe not difficulty, but time or need to revisit something a few times)

PROBLEMATIC QUESTS

Apologies for not being able to tie the quests to the skills they had (one was Croppery 3 and Gardening 4)

- Plant and harvest 1 of each crop seed type - effort: walk up to gardening vendor and buy 1 of each seed, walk into house with 16 garden squares, plant everything, wait 2 hours. DONE.

- Plant 3 tree beans and get them to the beginning stage. WHAT? even the early pet 7 seedlings that need, never mind that you already did this (times 5 ,plus more babysitting) for the seed to scythe. I thought I was missing something the first 2 times I ready the quest description.

There are some other really poorly developed quests in there, I just happened to have BOTH of these this last test and was left shaking my head.

  • I also had the Refining 2 "crush 200(?) rocks in 2 minutes" quest. another one that was doable in under 2 minutes, but at least there I had to have the rocks mined and then found a flaming humbaba so I could do it all in just one click of the tool

  • Chris though I understand your frustration; I do not share your opinion about beginner quests.

The way I see these quests and quest rewards is they are beginner quests; and are good starting out experience for new players, or when you have just learnt a new skill; and the rewards are useful for them not to be stuck in same level forever. It also makes you use a new skill with minimum encouragement.

As the game progresses, there will be longer and complicated quests; for example the quest in the tower.

Maybe few simple skill quests can be combined into a set quest for an in between solution.

  • gia: the quests I mentioned were all for skills deep into the skill tree. maybe we have a different definition of "beginner" but I don't see how Croppery 3 is a beginner skill when it takes (if I just counted right) learning 9 other skills as pre-requisites

  • and while i understand that players will fill out the skill tree in different orders I am now a level 32 player and if the only quests I have to look forward to are "plant 3 beans and pet them" well, they're not serving any purpose - either in teaching me the game (again, i've been through seed to scythe, etc already) or making the game any more fun or exciting.

They're nothing but a few more clicks to do when I happen to not be doing something else.

  • I think it is a rollover from when all the skills had very short learning periods. If we got too many we were overloaded.

I would like more, harder quests though

  • The skill tree is only about a third there, much more to come.

  • +1 Another Chris. I am also learning the last few longer skills. One - I cant remember which, when finished asked me to gain 200 favour with my favourite giant. With xp of 30 and  90.000  currents  I completed it with in five minuets. :(

note to add, did you know we were neighbours :)

  • I agree that the quests need an overhaul.  Planting a tree is part of the tutorial, and planting ten trees merely wreaks havoc on the already-unbalanced environment.  One of my last quests was to mine five rocks in a single day.  Another was to meditate enough to receive +50 mood all at once.  While I love the quest rewards, I can't say that most of these activities are particularly interesting or instructive to someone who's been playing for a while.  I'd enjoy puzzles and more races.

  • I haven't played long enough to get there but it does sound as if the later quests are a little repetitive!
