[not a bug] Piggies don't plop after remote feedings

This has to be a bug.

You can feed piggies 3 veggies and they will plop.

A piggy can eat an entire remote feeder of food and never plop.

Terribly inconsistent behaviour. :(

  • Agreed, I was going to retest this and post the same myself...

  • This made me wonder about the purpose behind the feeders, and my internally-thought-out conclusion is that they are to make sure that the meat collectors will continue to work when you're not there (you can only collect so much meat from a pig before it refuses to give you any more until it's fed).

  • Yuh, I was actually expecting a lot of piggy poop after I brought the feeder, but it does seem that the only way to get piggies to poop is through manual feeding. And this can get really cumbersome when you plan to cheaply produce 20 potato seeds from piggy poop.

My own guess for the feeders is that they are supposed to keep your piggies alive, as I have had piggies die out on me before (I logged in and discovered that my piggies had turned into piles of meat!) probably by my not feeding them.

  • Glad I read this...I actually didn't realize it was necessary to feed your piggies...

  • I got the feeder and expected to get plops too, but nothing. So I have to hand feed for more seeds. Let us know if this a bug or by design. Thx!

  • I expected plops too - but the whole point of me buying the feeder was to prevent my piggies from eating my decorative easter eggs.

(it worked btw - no eggies got eaten :D )

  • I think another reason the piggy feeders don't have the piggies plopping is because you have to feed a piggy, at least, 3 of one kind of food for the piggy to plop out the seeds for the same kind it was fed. Where as the piggy feeder holds 80 foods that can be all mixed up or all of one kind so if you used a variety of foods in it, it wouldn't know what kind of seeds to have the piggy plop out for you.
I fill both of mine with nothing but wheat (grain) ...got to get rid of all that wheat somehow coz I can only make so much flour lol... but anyway the piggy feeder doesn't let my piggies plop out wheat seeds (thankfully) which is the only reason I only fill it with the wheat :D :D

  • I wouldn't mind random plops, but I would like some return on my remote feeding besides just keeping my meat collector busy. Also, if it takes 3 veggies to make a piggie plop, why are the only options on feeding 1 or 10? Why not list 3 as an option? Especially if you have a lot of piggies running around, and have to chase one down to get it to plop for you.

  • You could always donate the piggy plops to projects if you don't want the seeds...

  • I bought the piggy feeder just for the purpose of the plops for projects. I was checking back regular and nada. I offer them 5 spuds and they wolf it down, with a pressie to boot. They take an age to eat from the feeder. Hmmmm, are they getting a complex about their behind?

  • If you carry 10 or less of the food type that you plan to feed the piggies with, the option to choose "3" appears. Feeding the piggies more or less than 3 pieces of food will not result in piggy plop.

  • "Feeding the piggies more or less than 3 pieces of food will not result in piggy plop"

    That's annoying and counterintuitive!

  • As I noted in the other thread, I routinely feed piggies 10 grain to get plops and did that more than 100 times on Sunday.

The stacking is an issue but you can assuredly get plops or seeds 10 at a time

  • Roderick, feeding the piggies 3 or more of the same item (whether 3 or 4 or 100) will result in a plop. So, if you accidentally choose All from the menu and you have 100 stacked, you will get one plop.

  • ok... will try next test.  :D

But from that observation alone, a piggy feeder should still induce piggies to plop, especially if the feeder is full (at 80/80 capacity). It should produce at least one plop. If the game opens this weekend, I'll try putting only 3 grains in the piggy feeder and see if that causes one of my piggies to plop. Or leave one piggy with one piggy feeder containing 3 grains and see if that causes plop.

And if that doesn't work, I can conclude that [ piggy + piggy feeder = no plop ]  :(

  • Hi Roderick, they do not plop after remote feeding as noted in the opening post- that is the behavior of this presently.

  • ok. Thanks for the clarification. :D
