6-4 Testing period

Lots of Flash crashes this test period. I would send an in game bug but that seems impossible to do with no game. So-when I leave or enter my home my game gets slow and often crashes. I have emptied cache. This was using Chrome so I have now switched to Firefox.

  • Update: I had less crashes with FF but still had some. Overall this was the worst test for me.

  • Yes, worst for me, too, in the relatively short time I was able to play this time around. Avatar vibrated off and on, occasionally moved independently (walking in place, running backward, continuing to move forward). Sudden and very bad lag couple of times. (Was using Chrome, which has always worked best for me by far, so didn't think to switch back to FF to see if it made a difference.)

  • I, too, had a bad test.  I tried 3 different browsers with varying success.  Chrome finally seemed to work the best for me.  I experienced the vibrating avatar, rapid walking-in-place, freezing so I had to reload the game, my Trophy Case, Cupboard, Whole garden not loading.  When the Trophy Case & Cupboard DID load, they wouldn't open.  I experienced something I'd never had happen before:  there were some streets/areas where I'd click on a tree/ore/shrine, get the menu, click on what i wanted to do (harvest/mine/donate) but nothing happened.  If I moved to another street (not just the next tree or rock) it would work fine.  I lost my fancy pick because of this.  When clicking "mine" didn't work I dragged my pick onto the rock and , "poof" it vanished!
Maybe it was a combination of a weekend test (many more players) and a lot of new content?

  • Yes, for such a short test, this one had me with the most flash crashes thus far - probably 3 flash crashes but also a bunch of hang ups where I had to reboot.  I also experienced the vibrating avatar, independent movement - running to the side of the screen, and the continued issues with the hatched eggs not appearing in my inventory. I had started out using FF since with other games I was having issues with flash in Chrome, but the FF was exceptionally slow in loading the streets, and I was spending more time waiting on streets to load than actually playing. I read in the forums about the FF issues, so I switched to Chrome.  That drastically improved the street loading, but it seemed like the other issues - crashes, vibrating avi, freezing - were just as bad if not worse.  Like Marla, I was having issues where I'd click on things and nothing would happen, but that usually happened right before a total flash crash or the screen freezing.

  • Count me in.  I had a number of Flash crashes, the vibrating Avatar who also walked in place and often took off running madly.  I found a refresh helped resolve the vibrating, walking, running problems for a while.  I am using FF4.

  • I had some flash crashes right at the start of testing. Once I rebooted my computer, that stopped.
I also had the vibrating avatar for a little while - oddly enough, it happened when I bumped into stoot in-game. After that... never saw the problem again.
I use Chrome, and have the latest flash.

  • I too had more flash crashes this test than usual.  I also had more difficulty walking on streets, donating, and visiting street spirits where there were excessive animal populations. The vibrating and totally out of control av was also a pita this test. I continue to try different things to keep these behaviors under control.  This test that included just leaving the game when the frustration got too bad.
As I really love this game ( enough to purchase a top subscription ) I hope that play will improve in the coming weeks!

  • I actually had a really good test, I did notice the bouncy avatar and it seemed a bit slow a few times,
but I just 'refreshed page' and 'emptied cache' a few times, and that resolved the problem,
    I am using Chrome.

  • Thanks for the feedback folks- we think the moving avatar problem was solved, but let us know next test if you still see that. There were some problems in the game with changing streets and getting in and out of instanced locations that caused some problems; we've fixed several of them, and hope you won't see that return. If you happened to be using Firefox 3.6 on a Mac, check out this topic. Also, some players using Chrome (on Mac for sure, not sure about Windows) may sometimes experience loss of letters when entering text if you have been playing a little while without a restart. I have seen this myself, and I know several others have let us know of the experience.

For those having Flash crashes- any detail on when you saw them and circumstances?

  • I had a weird bug that my Glitch was moving down the street on my screen but to everyone else (Jade witnessed it) I was standing in one place.  I could not interact with anything.  I cleared cache and it did not help the problem.  Jade told me to try a different browser so I switched to IE and it fixed my movement problem, until IE crashed after an hour or so.  Then I switched back to Chrome and it worked OK for the rest of the test.

  • kevbob-I don't remember all the details of the past test crashes. I will be sure to jot down all pertinent info for you during this next test and send it on to you. It was problematic in this last test mostly because my whole game would need to be restarted after the crash and I therefore couldn't send an in game report at the time.

  • Hi kevbob, thanks for the update!  Most of my freezes were on streets where there was a lot of activity, especially crowded with animals.  I did have a freeze while tending my garden. The vibrating and out of control behavior was random (especially irritating).  I have a notepad and pen ready for the next test.  Could be interesting as my Chrome just updated to 12.0742

  • I've noticed that flash crashes are very common when I'm doing a long jump or fall downward - say, to the basement of my Shimla house.  :-P

Good to know about Chrome and missing letters - I was finding "chat lag" really irritating this test. I'll try FF next test and see how I go.
