Now that we have our new housing, and are starting to rely more on ourselves and each other to craft furniture for our places, perhaps we could have an untinkering ability.
It would have multiple uses:
* For example, if you constructed one shelf too many, you could untinker it to get some of the raw materials back (Maybe 75% of the snails and boards that went into it). This way, you could use the materials to make something else, like storage display boxes.
* If The Useles^WRube came a-trading and kept giving us Blenders and Frying Pans, we could also untinker those items as well, but we'd get basic scrap materials (Plain metal ingots, Wood, etc).
* If a new furniture item, like a large music playing device -- let's call it a Choonbox -- were made, one would need to play music -- Choons -- that they acquired from other sources. One could untinker their Musicblock collection (with an 'Are you sure?' on blocks ending with -5, or any other rare block like GNG, etc) to pull out little bits called Choons, and fit them to a Choon Rod (Should be easy to make: tinker it with 1 molybdenum ingot, 1 plain metal ingot; Get two rods?) that can be inserted into their Choonbox. Also, the untinkering process of something like a Musicblock should be tuned to not always give a Choon, but sometimes give a handful of other components from the block (like the screen or the knobs, which can all be used to help build this Choonbox.
Forgive me if this doesn't seem fully thought out -- I had to inject some sleep into the middle of this idea. I'm open to suggestions for this as well, because I would really love to present a well thought out plan to Tiny Speck that surrounds the concept of Untinkering, and hopefully contribute something useful to the game that we all play.
Respectfully,
