Why do we get new skills when we haven't used the old ones?
I am new. Seems all I have to do is get a skill then I can add the next skill. Does level or anything else matter? Don't you all think this skill thing is too easy?
You probably would get more answers if you had put this under the general section of the forums, but trust me it doesn't get easier. It will take a longer time to learn full trees. However you will find that many skill trees need other skill trees. You will get the idea when you go along with the game!
This game is not about "fast progress". You can play it like that, and some people have fun playing it like that, but you don't have to.
In other words: If you want to play around with your new skill before getting yet another one: Just do it. I found out that for me, it's kind of boring to learn 3-4 skills while I am away, and then suddenly having 4 new ones when I come back. I prefer the slow approach.
The higher skills will soon all take 1 day, 2 days or 7 days, and that's the point when the "too fast" learning stops anyway.
Learning a skill isn't the same as mastering it. For instance, in cooking, at a given skill level, you start with N recipes, but as you use the skill and cook enough of the dishes, you gain new recipes.
So you can book learn pretty much anything, but really understanding how it works and mastering it? That comes with time and use.
Yes, as soon as you finish one skill you can start learning another. It is easy in the beggining, but that is a good thing! It expands the number of things you can do in game, and reduces time and energy required, so the game gets better.
But it does gets harder with time... for some skills, there are requirements, such as levels, or achievements, like spending a Giant's emblem or completing a certain quest.
Also, when you learn a certain amount of skills, it takes longer and longer to learn the next ones, and you end up with 7 to 9 days for a top skill, and having to choose which ones to learn or not.
My advice is: do Better Learning as soon as you can :) Also, choose skills that reflect your personal preference: if you love animals and interacting with them, get Animal Kinship, and so on.
Bashere, is that before or after donating to speed up learning? I see you have over 70 skills, so I am wondering how that is possible.
If you have a newsletter, I would like to subscribe to it.
Scarlett, I didn't have any skill take longer than 4.x days before donating. But I also couldn't cook until way late into skill learning. I tried to get anything that took over 24hrs as quickly as possible. So I had teleportation V way before bubble tuning. I stumbled upon this method when i first started because I made my goal to get fuel making before I even knew what it did. I had dreams of being an oil tycoon. Then I read about the learning curve and decided to go for the long ones first.
