Boil a girder down

"A solid metal material used for correctly shafting mines and supporting structures. There's some crazy rumour that if you can find a way to boil these down, you can magically create a sparkling bright orange drink out of them. But this has never been proved, and their use in construction is by far the more popular one."

Did someone try to achieve this ? Or is this a pun I just can't understand ?

  • i dunno... maybe it's a hint that someday we can make a drink that will buff against smelting (like how the flaming humbaba buffs against grinding ) ..or it could be a reference to something completely different .... O-O .

  • There's a soft drink with the slogan, "Barr's Irn-Bru: made in Scotland from girders."  It is bright orange, and contains a tiny bit of iron.

  • daaaaamn.... Irn Bru in Glitch would be INCREDIBLE.

But not Iron Brew. That's foul muck good for nothing but mockery and giving to people you don't like.

(For Americans who have never sampled this deliciousness, it used to be one of the very few drinks to outsell coca-cola, although less so these days. It's also a hangover cure, a wonder tonic, dyes anything you pour it on, and it's epicly awesome. Publix sells it if you're desperate for a sample. Yes, I'll promote it all I can!)

  • Boil a girder down, boil a girder deep down in the ocean blue, like a barnacle sitting in a tight place... nevermind.

  • "Boil a girder down" sounds like it should be a verse or two from "Tie Me Kangeroo Down, Boys".
