I.E...On speedy Mode!!

I don't like I.E.... ( Please read on ) I always use Google Chrome for everything...But...I had to use I.E last night to check something....and decided to give the game a little run while I was in there. I have never moved so fast..ever...My Glitch is running around so fast I can hardly keep up with her. Just now as I was typing this..I heard my still make the "ready" noise for the first time in a very very long time..in actual fact..I forgot it even was supposed to make a noise. I also don't know if this is a coincidence or not...But..Random drops from harvesting have increased a lot...Lately I was hardly getting anything from harvesting etc...and today in the short time I have been playing my bags are full of music boxes , gems etc..and thats just running round sorting out my own yard ..and my neighbouring streets. I have never seen my iMG move up so fast than it has done since I started using I.E last night. No Lag...No reload message....No we haven't heard from the game server message...!!! Also...GARDENING IS A SPEEDY BREEZE!!! :-O

The only drawback is my Glitch Remote unfortunately doesn't work with I.E..Which is a shame really but I am sure I will find a way to work round that. Anyway I just felt I should share and maybe some people who are having really bad lag...Or slow loading etc might find this useful.

  • It's funny because I had a similar thing happen recently.  I was using firefox, which was requested by devs last week, but it was worse than the IE I used to use on my old computer.  Went back to chrome for a bit and it was much better, now firefox is better too.

Maybe it's to do with the version of flash player?  Or maybe switching browsers about helps clear things, don't know, but it is odd and worth trying if things are slow.

  • I move so fast with IE that I usually can't stop my avatar where I want to. With Chrome I can at least maintain control.

  • I had an update of Windows stuff yesterday - and now Chrome is running as well as it did originally, so goodness knows what is going on :)

You can play the game in IE and have Glitchremote open in Chrome or whatever browser you prefer. As long as you're in game and signed into Glitchremote it works just like you were doing everything in one browser.

  • WeavingTheWeb Oh I didn't know I could do that thank you :)

Mollie I know what you mean about your avatar moving so fast you can't control her..But I like that lol :D ..LOL Maybe not but ..I do like the speed factor and I'm hoping if I continue to use I.E I'll learn to control her better.. :)

Miss Parsley & Moz Art I noticed that too, once I used I.E for a little while I went to Chrome and it was a lot better than it had been.. :-/

Maybe things are looking up in general, but in mean time if chrome plays up I'll just pop to I.E for a little while to gain some speed.

  • I guess it does make sense that Adobe puts a lot of effort into the IE flash plug-in. And given Glitch's browser breakdown, it does make sense for TS to focus on Windows, although not necessarily IE. (Sadly, for some of us, IE isn't a convenient option.)

  • IE, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc. … some of them may run Glitch better on certain computers but nothing even comes close to running Glitch a browser other than the one you use for everything else.

So, if you use Chrome daily and have 15 youtube windows open in various tabs, and pintrest, a couple of tumblrs, your gmail and another mail service, Facebook, a dozen news sites with articles to read later, and so on, Glitch is going to run slow for you in Chrome and will run much better in Firefox (or vice versa, or IE + Safari, or Safari and Firefox, or any combination whatsoever).

Glitch is pretty intensive and if it has to compete for resources with everything else you are doing, both Glitch and everything else will be sluggish. If you run two separate browsers, Glitch can have its own space and will almost invariable run much, much faster.

  • Thanks Stoot...I kinda thought that might have something to do with it..although I never run anything else whilst I am playing Glitch because of the lag...but I understand because I already use Chrome for everything else..it already has all that stuff in it, even if I am not using it at that time, it will still slow me down..Where as...I.E is empty... :) Gotcha!

So really it wouldn't matter what "other" browser I try, it will probably be faster than the one I use for everything. I might try firefox and keep it for Glitch then ...cos I don't like I.E. :S
