Fan Appreciation Video

Hey Everyone!

I'm totally new to Glitch, and I'm in LOVE with it. Really fun game, and I'm loving the community.  In appreciation, I made a YouTube video for the game.  I hope you like it!

  • Nice video!  Looks like you had some fun and learned a few things.  There are many more things to do so I hope you continue to play.  BTW, that sleeping fellow was one of the Devs.

  • Quite interesting video. Thanks CheerfulGeek. It's good to see the game again like we saw it in our first minutes as players.

I find Hburger and G33kgurrl are lovely greeters, apart from outstanding members of the community!

On the other side, it's clear that pop-ups can get pretty overwhelming for beginners. Particularly when they prevent you from seeing what's happening in the game. I saw a few important things happening for the first time that the player couldn't get because a pop-up got in front of them.

The phrase "I don't know how to do this things" is pretty normal during the first encounter with Glitch, and I think it's good, a challenge to find out!

  • Thanks so much for the encouraging words everyone!  Feel free to share that video on your Facebook if you'd like, to be honest, I'm trying to get out there and make more videos.

    Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

  • This is great! Super neat to see the beginning of the game from a new player's perspective. Can't wait to see more of these videos pop up:)

  • Hey Sugar,

If you would like, I'd love to do a "playthrough" of the game.  I wasn't sure if you guys would mind that, but a "Let's Play" is totally something I can do.  Please let me know, my email is matt@cheerfulgeek.com.  I'd love to get your guys official approval!

  • A playthrough of the game would be a loooooong video!  Also, part of the joy of this game is figuring things out on your own, and seeing things for the first time, so I'd hope that videos wouldn't be overly revealing.

  • people can choose to watch the videos or not.

it would be an awfully long series of videos though. estimated travel time to every street in the world is 6 to 8 hours alone, without doing any *playing* at all - only walking.

  • I wasn't really going to do a "Let's Play" of then ENTIRE game, more of actually playing the game randomly.  Not starting off where the last video ended, or anything like that, but rather of the interesting parts that I found about the game, just as I did in the video.

The videos can be used to help new players along, as I had no idea that I needed to buy a knife and cutting board until someone made a comment on the video explaining this (thanks striatic). Not only that, but it helps the developers get real live commentary from someone who really knows nothing about the game. I've been playing MMO's since MUD's back in the day, so I pretty much am well educated in playing them.  If I have a hard time figuring something out, someone new might have the same problem.

Thanks again though on the feedback. If you guys have any critiques about my commentary style, please let me know. I'm always trying to improve! Have a great day everyone!

  • Thanks, CheerfulGeek, for producing such a charming video. You have a good voice, btw. What I enjoyed as much as anything was your spontaneous chuckling and delight in the the goofiness of petting a tree and feeding a piggie. Believe me, the game will continue to amaze and delight you as you work through the levels, interact with fellow glitches and generally have a relaxing and enjoyable time playing. The game is actually pretty intuitive, with skills/quests guiding the player along. There is also a wiki strategy page for players to explore.

  • Hey Rachel!

If I get an approval from the developers, I'll be covering that in the next video. I've been reading the wiki and found A LOT of awesome things in it.  Thanks for the compliment on my voice, and chuckling, I try to add as much of my personality in the video.

Sorry for the random typing, it's hard trying to commentate, type and play all at the same time. The next video will be a lot better.

Thank you again, and I appreciate the critique!

  • Yay! Love the video! I try not to repeat what others have said, but yes, it's great to have a viewpoint from a "newbie" - the whole community feel from the beginning is what Greeters are for! And you were a great "newbie"! Can't wait for more Glitchy videos from you!

  • Nice video...interesting that you thought the greeters were bots (we didn't have greeters when I started).  Cool to see how some of the newer stuff is implemented now.  Hopefully, you'll realize that you can climb, and not just have to jump everywhere...you get to figure out how though... ;)  Welcome to the game!  Enjoy!
