How many alternate accounts do you have?

Personally, I have 3. One for cooking, one for collecting meat and grain off animals, and one for emblems.

How about you?

  • Breaking that combo there.

1, because I'm attached to my current house but also want another type, and unlike other MMOs, I can't just choose another server and make a new character.

  • Zero, and I think that you're kind of doing it wrong.  The idea is that the same character can collect the meat and grain, then turn it into food, then turn that into donations.

  • People would advance MUCH faster in this game if they had alternate accounts. That way, your main account can focus on Better Learning and Mining, while your alternate account can focus on Cooking to supply your main account with Awesome Stews. Just my thoughts.
Posted 14 months ago by Bashere Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Sparklebooty: The account that initially focused on collecting meat and grain had Animal Kinship VII learned so they could grab 50 grain per chicken, for example. It helped my cooking account out tremendously in the start.

And my emblem account is only for storing said emblems.

I hardly have time to run ONE, and that's plenty fun. I don't need to be JennyMANYdots!

  • I have a second account who's trying out a different path through the skill tree, and a more swamp-focused lifestyle.

My understanding of the Community Guidelines is that using alternate accounts to "advance MUCH faster" than you would with a single account is not allowed.
Posted 14 months ago by Fnibbit Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Bashere, you need to be careful that you aren't using your multiple accounts in ways that give you a significant advantage.   That's clearly spelled out as not allowed in the Community Guidelines.

Either it's not giving you a significant advantage, in which case there isn't much reason to do it, or it is giving you significant advantage, in which case it's against the rules.

  • 1. Nicely done, Windborn.
    2. Do you really have so many emblems where a storage space + additional bags (you can put those in the storage closet, you know) still can't handle them?

  • One, because I wanted a house with an herb patch, so my little alt Glitchen is just toiling over herbs whenever I get the notion (about once a week or so).

    That's it. :p

  • I have zero. I also believe that having multiple accounts in the way that you are describing is clearly against the guidelines as they are both essentially mules for your main account.

I am not sure why people would have more than one account anyway (those who aren't using it to "advance MUCH faster"). I figure anything that they do on that second account, can be done just as well on their first account. It sounds like too much work really.

  • Zero. I spend way too much time on just one as it is. If I had two I'd never do anything else. The only reason I would possibly want a second is to own a house that could handle an egg tree/have an herb garden/have fireflies.

  • None...I don't even see the point of 'multi-counting' in Glitch; it's just not that type of game. I spend way too much time on my one account as it is.

  • I have two accounts.
I wanted to see how my game experiance would differ depending on how I tackled my skill tree.
On one account im chaos, I pick my skills randomly and flip flop all over the tree depending on what whim flits through my thoughts at the time.
On one account im efficent, I set a goal and plan which skills I will pick and in which order to reach my goals in the quickest time.

  • @Primevil You should think about getting the 12-sided die in-game for your chaos skill tree if you're still going to do that.  Just roll and then do a skill affiliated with that giant.  But really, I can't imagine that it's a good idea.  I played "Select A Different iPhone" Roulette with myself when I was preordering my new phone, and it didn't work out so great.

  • I have two accounts that are exploring different parts of the skill tree.  One doesn't even have Mining I, the other has a full set of Mining and Alchemy skills.

    My wife also plays.

Have too much fun with the one account and my main would be too selfish of my time to were an alt would never advance.

It's actually kinda fun to be a newbie all over again with no money and no resources. Maybe it's just me, though.

  • I have 1. Seeing if my experience will differ from attacking the skill tree in a different way.
I'm not doing a good job of paying attention to my second account though.

However, I would love to try out a bog house and herb growing and contemplated getting an alternate account for that (love my current house also...) but it wasn't clear to me if it was within the guidelines, so I haven't!

  • I have four, five if you count my son's account which I babysit so much it might as well be mine too. Three of those were fun whims to see if I could replicate my own original characters as Glitches with the credits and wardrobe given, and because it was fun.

They also ended up becoming experiments in housing and lifestyles, to see which I preferred. Found out my girl traveling down the Meditation/Piety line and living in a 50k house was NOT for me. Sure she can meditate, but that doesn't sustain her, and she can't cook XD I thought it might at least at higher levels substitute for cooking, as a sort of wandering priest role. I dunno what I was looking for, didn't find it.

So yeah, I basically have just her as an alt, only because sometimes I need a break from my high level Garney and want to do something more start of game.

  • @Sparklebooty,
I can imagine that would be a terrible way to choose a product like a phone, for a game though it sounds quite fun. I think I shall try that.
Posted 14 months ago by Primevil Shambler Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Primeval Just be glad that you weren't awake at four in the morning clicking the same three buttons over and over again when the new iPhone was available for pre-order.  I would choose one, then go through the process, then it would time out, and then I'd start over again except with a different phone.  Fun times.

  • I only have one account. I'm not sure why people specialize in skills, I have been learning 24 hours a day since the last reset and now have 66 skills. I will continue to learn untill I've learned everything. I can't see why different accounts would help.

  • there's not really a depth of material at the tops of the skill tree, so i don't really see any point at all in having an alternate account maximize my gain in a main account.

i have a lot of money and a lot of stuff and  a closetful of emblems (two bags full and i need a third) and in a few weeks i'll have all the skills and outside of poisoning a LOT of trees so i can harvest and replant, i'm running out of new material.

i like the material i have, but i just don't see a point in rushing forward to the maximums because you don't really get anything for it. no bigger skills, no big advantages.

you can still wander around and pet trees and talk with people though.

  • I usually have one other toon in games I play, when permitted. Just to take a break from the high level stuff and wander around as a lowbie is fun sometimes. Skills, well this account can do almost everything I want to now, so its not about skills for me, it's just about fun.

Some of those early quests were hilarious, so when I need cheering up, i log on my lowbie :)

  • I have 2 but since the game officially opened i've only played on one. I just wanted to have a boy character as well... and i figure down the road when i'm all set up and if i get a little bored i could play the other character and maybe move to a diff area or something?
Posted 14 months ago by Niknik Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Elly- yeah I guess I can see where you are coming from there. If on very few occasions a person got the urge to experience all the fun of being newly imagined, it could be useful to have a second account for that purpose.

I think I find having multiple accounts to control on a more regular basis to level and actually DO stuff seems like way too much work for me. I play another virtual world where you can have up to 5 different avatars on the same account. Each avatar has its own levels, house, but they do share one inventory. It is pretty much set up in to be the way you say you like to have another account. It allows you to lead different virtual lives. One avatar can follow one path whereas another of your avatars can be something completely different. In the game I do have all 5 different avatars, however, I rarely if ever log in and use all 5 on a regular basis. I much prefer to spend my time on my main avatar with the high levels and do everything with her.

@ Miso- It isnt necessarily against the rules to have more than one account. if each account is independent of each other and your secondary account is not used to merely benefit your main account, then all is fine and dandy. the problem lies where the secondary accounts are created to give one player an unfair advantage above everyone else. Creating a second account just so you can have 2 different types of homes? Yeah, that is an unfair advantage. Glitch was designed for each person to own ONE home. Not one of each kind depending on how many accounts you create.

  • You can do this?
Posted 14 months ago by WalruZ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • You can have multiple accounts, you just can't be logged onto them at the same time (I suspect so you can't run around getting mining bonuses and what-not.

As for having multiple accounts to handle other trade skills or to store items for you... not mentioned at all in the TOS.
Posted 14 months ago by Bashere Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Jabs Girl I am told by a helper who asked a dev that the situation of "owning two homes for the purposes of growing both herbs and vegetables is permitted", because it is analogous to using the community herb or vegetable gardens, thus no advantage is gained.  The helper said it was a grey area though, and not to push it.

  • None, although I did make an extra account before reset just to make sure I had accurate skill times to start planning for when it happened.

Then I didn't really end up planning because it was boring.

I am absurdly close to the level cap for my liking, though, and have about a week left before I have every skill, and I have the majority of the moderately accessible achievements, so I *may* have to make another account when I "finish" the game just so that I have something to actually do!

I wanted my old house that I had in Beta back.
I also wanted neighbours I was sure to like.
    I like me.
    I'm my neighbours.
    Life is good :D

I don't do that much with them. Ebilest doesn't get out much at all. Once in a while I'll take Ebiler out for a walk, usually when I feel like being anti-social and don't want to deal with anyone.

  • @Biohazard I wouldn't worry just yet. :P We're around the same level and I still have over three million experience to go! The level you are isn't much of a real indication of how close to the cap you actually are. :P
