Some REAL(ty) suggestions! (c wut i did there)

Okay so, without giving any sort of backup story or supporting evidence I'm going to just throw this out here & hope that staff reads it.

I own an Alakol home, its nice, its spacey, & its (in my opinion) stylish. However, we all know that there are players (some of which will even read this) who don't like Alakol homes & much prefer their homes in Shimla or the Meadow. With things like herb gardens starting to appear, I've been wondering if an update would emerge that would allow flowers to be planted in my own home -- but then a different idea altogether came to me - additions to homes.

Additions, in my surreal world, would be purchasable to any homes. These would accommodate for newer features (in this case herb gardens) & would have a solid fee no matter which home size you already have. They would accommodate with the style of the home, of course (that's where it gets sketchy to me because I dont know what Tiny Specks ability to increase the size of zones is & how realistic it is to happen -- especially in areas like the apartments)

  • I understand customization of homes is in the works, but does that include herb gardens?  I hope not, actually.

It rather makes sense to me that certain things cannot flourish in all areas, which is why we see spice trees here and not there, egg trees here and not there, herbs and barnacles in the swamps and veggies and cherry trees in the meadows.  The whole specialization thing (in which players are more or less asked to choose between being a character that makes crystals and grows herbs or being a character that makes awesome stews.  Comparative advantage - these players can tarde with each other to get the goods they cannot easily make themselves.

Yes, this means we have to make choices. But I think this is a good thing. It'd be less of a world if we could all have everything in our homes.

I gave up my Alakol home today to go live in the swamp and make herbs all day.  I also made crystals.  I bought the food I needed instead of making it or growing it.  I went to projects. I revived piggies.  All in all, I had to say that I interacted with more people today that I usually do and had more fun because of it. I did a lot of trading, because I had stuff others couldn't get and they had stuff that was not as easy for me to get.  I still ended up ahead on currants (my income was slightly above my expenses, despite needing to purchase all of my energy for the first time in a long time). I also didn't have to exploit anyone to achieve that.  I liked playing today because of it.

  • @ Zeeberk, I can see your point -- and we already see that with firefly swarms & barnacles in Shimla homes (for example) -- but (and now specifically focusing on herb gardens) those aren't something that shouldnt be able to flourish in every livable area so far. In the same aspect perhaps, I suppose it could go either way from there. Either make exclusive features for all homes, or make all features available for all homes. Personally, alot less struggle would be had if we could customize on our own terms. Not to say that I'm dismissing your argument, but perhaps our viewpoints could reach middle ground in setting a limit to the attachments we buy, either by numeric limit or perhaps by "this or that"

  • I disagree with the proposal.

I like the fact that there are choices to be made.  And that making one choice changes (slightly) what other options you have.  Oranges don't grow in Canada.  Cherries don't grow in Puerto Rico.

Already this new choice has created a small group of us who trade and share resources, because we each have a house in a different region, and each have a different set of interests.  What was a casual acquaintance is becoming friendship.

  • i see the argument either way - but there are already some exceptions - any kind of tree will grow in your garden, regardless of where your home is.

i think it would be cool to purchase an add on for an herb garden. but if you are outside the area, maybe what you can get is smaller, only a three plant spot.

the add on feature would also make it easier for tiny speck to edit the houses, or let people do it for them, as they add to the game, skills and items that are available.

  • I might see a "herb pot" that you could buy if you wanted to raise herbs in your home.

  • We are growing some date palm in Canada ,they looks absolutely gorgeous I think we can grow herbs in the meadow.

Maybe you just need H2 or something to grow them out of the Firebogs.

I was told changeable homes were in the works last summer, but they have done an amazing amount of work on houses already (my first house was in the street).
