Where did the account option to buy someone else a subscription go?

I can't find it and one would make a really good R3 present for a friend.

    Or HERE.

  • Excellent, thanks - I couldn't see it in the account page and that's where I thought it was.

Also, I see that account upgrades are currently disabled. What's up with that?

And on a related note, the only friends I can see to buy one for are those who aren't subscribed already, so I can't upgrade someone from Tin to Moly.

I'm only pointing this out because it's maybe a good idea to at least open the upgrade option for self and if possible, others - I bet that would bring in a fair bit of revenue today.

Of course, maybe the point is driving the credit packages instead of subscriptions.

  • If we could just "open" it, we definitely would :)

Unfortunately, upgrading recurring subscriptions is a little bit complicated. That's the reason  we haven't done it yet (we know people want it — and it costs us money to not have it! — so, it will happen).

  • So if we do want to upgrade do we need to cancel and buy another subscription?

  • I'm also wondering about that, geekybird.

  • I guess you could try it out. Cancelling the subscription doesn't take away your existing credits... If it works the way utilities do (like dsl and mobile) the change wouldn't take place until your existing billing cycle is over, but I have no idea if TS works like that.

If they did, I don't think upgrading recurring subscriptions would be complicated, so I'm guessing that they don't and you probably can.

  • More than anything I feel stupid because I can't seem to find what the different subscription levels are, price/benefit-wise. I swear I've looked!

  • Moly is 400 credits, Copper is 150 I think, and Tin is none iirc. Plus votes and teleport tokens, neither of which I really notice.

Moly is 14.95 a month. Copper is 8.99.

Moly will turn out to be a good value now, I think. Personally, I had Copper because who can spend that much credit on clothes? I hardly ever change mine anyway, they go with the character's name.

  • Did cancelling your current subscription and reupping work? Or will it work? I've got a copper but have been wanting to upgrade to Moly for awhile now.

  • Nope, doesn't work - I got a message that said my Copper subscription will expire on May 24th and it won't let me change my subscriber status between now and then.

  • Damn. I guess I'll have to wait until the end of the month then. I think I expire on the 29th. I'll try to upgrade to Moly then.
