An amazing workaround to dev stalking (or: taking the hard way) NOTE: FIXED

EDIT: This is fixed now. I'll leave it here for people who want to see how it was done.

I was playing with the Glitch API, and I noticed in the /simple/players.fullInfo , it gave the last location of a user. But, that isn't all. (warning: geek alert) It gives the TSID of the last location also, so you could use that to get to the location page. With this, I managed to find a new day to dev stalk! (I'm sure the devs are soooo happy now :D) Let's start
1. Find a dev you want to stalk (I'm going to use Lisa. Sorry Lisa!)
2. In the URL bar, there is their TSID. (the letters and numbers after profile/) In this case, Lisa's is PCR11BHHPVN1AIQ. Copy that.
3. Next, head to the API explorer (http://api.glitch.com/explore/), and choose /simple/players.fullInfo .
4. In the Arguments box, put player_tsid=their_tsid.
5. Press the Test button, and you're going to get a LOT of stuff. Look for location.
6. There is a TSID for the location. Copy that.
7. Go to http://beta.glitch.com/locations/the_location_tsid/, where the_location_tsid is that TSID you just copied.
8. ???
9. PROFIT! (and spoilers)

If you need to know whether or not a dev is in a cool place, just look on your friend's list. ;)

P.S. Tiny Speck, if you reaaaalllyyy don't like this, I can take it down. I did this simply to show others what you can do with the API ;)
P.P.S. If any devs want to make a web app for this, go ahead. Glitch Dev-Stalker, anyone?

edit: I realized I forgot the API calls the first time. I am so very silly. They're there now. oopsies.

  • AWESOME! Just goes to show, you can't escape! Of course, you can also click on locations from the friends list at any time. :D

  • I'm worried that you've posted this, since, admittedly, I've been using this for a while to keep the list of locations that Location Checker uses updated. Some locations that we can go to, as players, are difficult to find location pages for, and this is the only way to find them... but since you can view where the Devs are I've kept it secret!

So, uh, Tiny Speck, if you "fix" this, please consider making it so staff can't get their locations read, rather than blocking TSIDs for all unlisted locations.

  • Edward -- they made it so you can't click the secret locations any more :( (it says something like "exploring 12 galaxies" or some other cheesy thing, and you can't click on it) unless I'm wrong... xD

  • No, as far as I could tell, those things were related to exploring the Tower. I know I saw HBurger with the same description, and HBurger ain't a dev.

  • We should/will modify the API to act just like the profile/home page and not return it for devs in secret places.

  • Aww, okay. Oh well! At least the API will still work as normal for normal players! :)

  • lol Bees!  I just love you sneaky deaky Devs making the Glitch world better each day!  sigh... even if that means we can't take a peaksy anymore ;)
