I'd imagine the intent is to avoid hermits who'd never even see their street if they had a direct route to their house. Not to mention, it's an easier load than the inside of most houses (mine especially; my entire third floor is nothing but SDB's). As an added bonus, it serves as added security if you're traveling with a follower. I type /home almost as a reflex action, and I prefer to have the additional layer (the door) between any followers I might be carrying and all my stuff. If anything, this could be added as a separate command, although I hope the behavior of /home remains the same.
This is only about the umpteen-millionth time this suggestion has been posted. The fact that it hasn't happened in the MONTHS since the new housing system launched strongly suggests to me that TS either doesn't like the idea or has it at the vewwy vewwy bottom of a vewwy vewwy long to-do list.
It would be quite nice to get some kind of definitive response on this one, so that we could all let it RIP or look forward to the change.
At a guess, a characters' home security is governed by entering through the door, and *possibly, the use of tele to enter the home (or any variant thereof, including /home or the suggested /house) would represent a security breach, or at least the potential for one, one that TS does not want to have to deal with, or does not have time to deal with at this juncture. At least I presume this since it's been the case for nearly all homes since I began playing last November, and the player calls for direct entrance to their homes has been going on just as long.
