I'm getting ready to buy my first house, but wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of the different house types. Is there a benefit, for example, of a meadow house over a swamp house over a cave house...?
I think it all depends on how you like to play the game. If you like to mine, you might consider proximity to rocks. If you like being social, proximity to highly populated streets. If you like to garden, the number of garden plots.
During beta I had animals and loved to garden -- so I loved having a house with a pen that kept the pigs and chickens away from my garden plots.
My new goal is to own a house is every area and try them all out. :)
Emdot is correct! You might first decide what you like to do and which Skills are of the most interest to you. Different kinds of houses have different features. Even houses of the same price in the same location might have different features.
I have lived in a Tree House, a Bog House, an expensive mansion in Alakol and now I live in a mid-prices home in Bortola. Each home I lived in had different features. I'd love to be able to pick the things I like best about each and then put them all in one house.
Until you have learned to have more than one Teleport location you might consider a house near a Sub Station.
@ Lord Beagan, I actually try hard to go for a house that's both kind of off the beaten path, but yet near a lot. Sounds like an oxymoron, I know, but both of the houses I've had have been in exactly those kinds of areas.
I love the block I'm on now. It's pretty peaceful and doesn't have many houses.
My boyfriend & I both decided on the house layout (and size) we have now, because for the price, it has plenty of tree patches, enough garden patches, room for a couple of pigs & butterflies, good storage and enough floor space/yard to keep stuff if needed. I don't allow my inventory to get ridiculously out of hand so, this house is perfect for me.
I very rarely use the subway (or TP for that matter), because I like to walk a lot and talk to people around so, that didn't matter to me.
Last time I settled on a bog house because, as far as I'm concerned, they have the coolest design. Also it was on a nice out-the-way street without much traffic.
Then one day they built an interstate in my front yard and suddenly people were everywhere! The construction kept me up all night and disturbed my fish!
My form of protest was unleashing swarms of piggies and butterflies while the construction workers kept saying "Jesus, there are a lot of farking swine around here! What lunatic keeps releasing more butterflies!".
That amused me for a while, although it also tricked me into participating in some projects.
tl;dr I'm currently homeless, but would bludgeon a thousand chickens to purchase a Shag-inspired tiki home.
