Milking butterflies and the wall of text

Now that I have AK7, I've been milking the heck out of some butterflies.  But when I'm on a street with 6 butterflies and I go to town on them, my screen fills up with the black notification box (I guess this is a growl?) and I have to wait a while for them to disappear so that I can see the street again, while my beautiful milky butterflies flit off down the road.  Then I have to go chase them, see which ones I've already milked, milk the ones I haven't, and the cycle repeats.

The main reason this is an issue is that butterfly milking returns a fairly large chunk of text that spans several rows.  Is there any way to make this black box disappear more quickly so that the street isn't obscured, especially given the fact that the same text shows up in the local chat window?

  • And/or show me which butterflies I can no longer milk with a red outline around the object?

  • click on the notification box to close it.

  • Sure, I understand you can do that, but when navigating around the street using the keyboard and doing my thing, I can nibble multiple piggies, harvest multiple trees, and so on without an issue.  The only problem arises when I start milking butterflies, and having to switch over to the mouse to click on the boxes breaks the flow.

  • Not only is the butterfly box huge, it also stays on the screen considerably longer than any of the other interaction texts. I will regularly milk a butterfly twice, then move on and nibble a piggy, squeeze a chicken, or do whatever else. The smaller boxes disappear, leaving the giant butterfly texts as the only thing on my screen, even though they were for the first action performed. Seems a little silly to me.

  • Perhaps we should have an option to toggle the black boxes on and off. Text does appear in local, after all.

  • Or maybe choose which black boxes we want to see?  I like seeing the ones that tell me who has entered, but I don't necessarily want to see all the repeats of what happens when I mine/milk/nibble/harvest/garden.

  • How about different colored butterflies? It would be more aesthetic and once you've massaged an orange butterfly and it flies off down the street you can distinguish it from the other colored ones.

  • I second the idea to reduce the butterfly spam. It was funny the first few times I did it, but 40 levels later I am soooooo tired of getting an entire paragraph of butterfly description. Especially because I'm usually chasing down chickens at the same time and if half (or more) of my screen is covered in butterfly nonsense, chances are I'll end up accidentally clicking on a butterfly and singing to it, wasting well over a hundred energy on something I didn't intend to do.

  • PLEASE reduce!  That would be nice as an option.

  • I'm glad someone bumped this.  It can be quite an annoyance to go "butterfly blind".

  • Yes, please. It's does present quite a challenge during butterfly milking.
{ LOL at the terms "butterfly spam" and "butterfly blind" } ^_^

  • I'm beyond tired of the butterfly message at this point. I'd love an option to turn ALL the black notification boxes OFF, since the same info is posted to Local Chat anyway. Enough with the black message box spam, and the butterfly message is the worst offender by far.

  • I must agree with Lorelei, an option to simply turn off all growl-style messages would be wonderful.  I truly despise this particular UI style (whomever invented growls should be ashamed), and would love to just remove it completely.
I understand different people have differing opinions, so an option point to turn that on/off would be perfect (in addition to opening the way for other UI option points in the future).

  • I don't think they should be ashamed, but I don't enjoy half my screen being blocked with butterfly-related text, especially when the same message is right there in the Local Chat area.

  • What I'd like is for ESC to work as a "clear all dialog boxes" -- I can use it to close out vendors and tool use and whatnot, I would like it to also clear all black notifications.

Because yes, that butterfly message is absurdly long and I can easily fill my entire screen with nothing but boxes informing me that the butterfly has a handy vial for me to carry its essence in.

  • At the very least, maybe the butterfly message could continue to display for players under a certain level (level 10 and below?) or who lack a certain level of AK skills (AK3 and below?) because, after that, you pretty much "get it" that a butterfly carries around a milk bottle and you really don't need to hear about it again via a flurry of huge black text boxes spammed everywhere: a simple "You milked a butterfly and here's the amount of milk you received and any of your stats that changed" message will do. The pigs and chickens spam much shorter and to-the-point messages when you interact with them, after all.

  • I'm with everyone else on getting rid of it or having a way to turn off certain growl notifications.

Same with drinking butterfly milk. They are long too.

  • I agree, i try to position myself to the left of the screen to avoid the butterfly box block - but it's not joyful or informative.
