small print/old age/but loving it/disliking forms

some of us have poor eyesight, some old and slow, yet we Love glitch.

it would help our enjoyment of this wonderful free game if we could Pause when we go to a new local, or it was slower to disolve so that we could have a moment to ponder what is located there. only thing i can do now is travel back and forth and back and forth if i really want to know the information so brieftly shown.

i have found, in the past, forms to be over loaded with information...useful for complaning...poor eyesight, old age, lack of nookie, etc.

i dump this idea into the forum never to return. i do read mail thought, please write

love and kisses to all and thanks for this wonderful game i must get back to

  • Thank you for making this thread, Juan.  Accessibility is one of the big challenges of any interface.  I've seen Tiny Speck respond with alacrity to accessibility issues before, and I would love to see how they respond to challenges for people with eyesight problems.

I know you said you would never return, but if you happen to read this again, could you clarify what your issue was?  From what I could understand, you had difficulty with:

    - the small text size
    - briefness of notifications shown during transitions between streets
    - forms?

I can definitely see the first two as distinct issues the dev team might some day address.  But what do you mean by forms?  I do not see many forms in the Glitch interface.  Unless you meant this forum thread form :).

  • Juan meant "forums" rather than "forms".  He'd asked in live help about pausing the intro screen entering a new street, and it was suggested that he post a suggestion here.  He would have preferred to place a bug report, because he hates forums, but was told the ideas forum was the right place, because it's not a bug.

I've sometimes wanted to call back that intro screen for a street myself.

  • I've always thought the information should appear in local chat once the area is loaded (as well as being on the loading screen).

  • The intro screen seems to disappear fast. I like the idea of it being in LC, too. Just about everything else is sent to LC. I know my eyesight is failing, right now. I can't even read the numbers on my bags (oh, I'm also playing on a 10" netbook and have no idea where my glasses could be). I'm reduced to actually clicking to each bag to see what's in them, but the blue breadcrumb is really faint on my netbook (compared to my laptop) so I can barely make that out, too!

  • Hrm, how about an "Info" button, at the top of the UI? Click it and it will roll down a list of what's in the street you're on.
    Might be an idea.

  • I do wish there was a way to re-display the resource list information from the location splash screen.  You can get there by using the info tags in the map, but that's really a pain; it needs to be in game.  I most especially need this, because the Dev team still has not fixed the bug in Firefox, which means I only get the resource list on about 30% of the splash screens in the first place.

  • I'd like to be able to redisplay (or display on command) fleeting screens.  I never see the resources list on streets while they're loading when I'm on my slow connection.  I'd like to be able to read what the animals and trees said, and see other screens that move by too quickly.

  • I agree that a display or button to allow a popup for a display of this information is an awesome idea.  Sometimes I care and sometimes I don't, but when I do find myself caring, I find I've forgotten to make note and I would also like to see a way to increase text that's easy to find for people with eyesight issues and those of us with small screens.
