Have you found your soul mate playing Glitch?

I have in my friend Gill288 in  Ponty Pridd, Wales....  and my beloved Lord Bacon-O... I have a proposition for you.
Let us confess our love and come out of the closet.   Leave your RL wife and come to California. Go west, young man.... Horace Greeley said it best.

  • Striatic, you're a cup of sugar floating in a kitten fart, wrapped up by a rainbow. Bunch of silly little monsters you all are.

  • I know someone who met and married while playing animal crossing ;) I actually think I know three people who have met in game wifi/forums or MMOG's.

@striatic I now see you in a totally different light... awwww ;)

  • Vermilion is one of my soul mates. :3

And Larky, I'm a little in love with Stoot, too, lmao.

Also, anyone I've ever actually met online for romantic purposes ended up not working out. OkCupid is now full of over-sexed creeps that want my soul.

  • This is the first video game my wife has ever gotten into.  It's cute to hear her Woo-Hoo downstairs when she's leveled up or discovered something new.

  • There have been a few flings, spontaneous cooperative mining and barnacle-hunting trips that have morphed into longer-term bouts of friendly flirting and giggles (but who, you ask? Ah, ah, ah! Lilith does not splank-and-tell!).

My husband is a veteran of many MMOs, but currently knee-deep in Dwarf Fortress (where "losing is fun!", the antithesis of Glitch). We have a blast sharing our trials and victories ("Magma pump!" "Street trophy!"), and he is totally fine with me developing friendships both online and IRL.

A few of the friends I've made here are from overseas, and I love the perspective I get from them about the game and the world in general.

And as far as the devs go, I've got a special place in my heart for Kevbob. You guys can fight over Stoot, I tell you I can sense a whiff of the divine in KB.

  • My hubby (Hank Tudor in game) and I met through...really...a personal ad (back when they involved actual paper and anonymous mailboxes). We shopped for rings five weeks later, got engaged four more weeks after that. Then got married several months later. Next Tuesday (the 26th) will be our 15th anniversary:) But I'll admit we both have fun being flirtatious with others in Glitch...'cause it's fun and we are secure like that :D Unhinged, but secure!

  • hahaha, i love 'knee-deep in dwarf fortress' - such an evocative phrase!

i have developed one or two textual crushes in this game, which is something i haven't experienced for more than ten years (ten! years!), and a new hero!  i won't name names, but all in all, i'm doing pretty well here...   ;D

  • I have multiple crushes going at any given time. Like striatic once said: Boredom followed by shenanigans, followed by boredom, then more shenanigans.  A cycle of boredom and shenanigans.

ETA: As for RL, found mine a long time ago, but if anyone had told me that when I met him, I would have laughed them out of town.  Thank goodness for being utterly wrong!

  • Nanookie, I had a friend who used to say, "One day, the love of my life is going to walk through that door, and I'm just going to point and go, BWAHAHAHAHA."

When I first met my RL guy, I thought he was incredibly rude and disconnected.  You just never know.

  • Careful, @Lady Meringue. Just when I said the same thing, Gloopy came along and charmed her way into my life.(And we play Glitch together, but technically "met" on the Twitters.)

  • @Lilith:  I tried the Kevbob crush, especially for that brief moment in time with the Batman costume, but then decided he was too not-single and too geographically close to me for it to be not creepy :)

  • aww nanooks, you know there was a time not too long ago when we could have shared gurly drinks and sung our secrets to the butterflies, but these days it's all whispering into shrines, and even that i don't really have an excuse to do anymore...

can't wait for the next round of shenanigans though! :)

  • I did meet my wife online in 1996 and we are still together and very much in love. So I am truly a believer in online relationships and that not everyone you meet online is a axe murdering pervert :)

However I recommend everyone watch the movie "CatFish" which is out on DVD now as it gives a really interesting insight into online relationships and social media.
