Arrow keys keep on going

So I've been away for a couple of months. I finally come back, and what do I find but that I'm having a bug that makes the game pretty much unplayable. When I hit the right or left arrows -- not hold them down, just hit them -- my Glitch just keeps going in that direction until I click something or hit the other arrow key, in which case she just keeps going that way. I'm running Firefox 9.0.1 on Mac OSX 10.5.8. I've updated Flash to make sure it's not that, and I've restarted the browser repeatedly. Oh, and I can't make a bug report, because it's STILL telling me my browser isn't supported.

  • When your character keeps going, hit the arrow in that direction again - i.e. when your Glitch won't stop moving to the right, hit the right arrow again.
Have you tried using a different browser? Perhaps another one would work better for you.

  • In this case, the combination Firefox, Flash 10.x. and OS 10.5 is the issue. (We mention it in the Known Issue thread.) Unfortunately this is an issue which crept in with that version of Flash a few months ago with that software combination. If you can update to OS 10.6 or later, you will be able to use Flash 11 and the problem will not be present; you can try Safari or Chrome alternatively.

  • ...Seriously, kevbob? That's your suggestion? Pay money to upgrade my system -- something not all macs using 10.5 can even do -- to play a flash game? Not fixing a known bug in a really common configuration? I'm sadly disappointed in Glitch.

And, by the way, play is jerky and laggy in both Safari and Chrome. I'm currently playing in OmniWeb, in which Glitch is least buggy, but still. Oh, and Glitch has been just as buggy, in the same ways, for my girlfriend playing on Linux, in every browser. Upgrading isn't going to do anything at all for her.

  • I usually play on a linux system. Flash doesn't really play nicely with any of the linux varieties I've tried, and I would suggest that is the reason. That said, I had no issues with jerky and laggy play, it was the repeated flash errors anytime something was superharvested and the scream from the fan as it chews a ridiculous amount of hardware resources. Playing glitch in firefox in a virtual windows machine was actually less resource-hungry, I think!

  • yup, i'm having the same issue, the only browser I can get glitch to play nicely with is Chrome... the keyboard arrow/wasd keys don't work in safari, and i'm having the same issue with firefox...
