  • Would you consider just closing this deal and giving it to Stellar so I don't have to listen to their whining via IM? I will also kick in 100K if you will.

  • The only way I could see ending the sale early would be if someone offered up a SB-1 and even then I would need to give everyone fair warning.

  • Oh my, bids are rising quickly!

  • 4 mil.

I wonder if everyone can actually pay this or if they are just raising the bid...
Posted 10 months ago by phelps.mike Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I wondered about that too, Mike. Perhaps there could be some verification system with trading and showing currant amount before a bid becomes valid. Of course good for the seller, bad for the buyers.

  • (Let's pool in our money, friends. We can math it out with percentages and share the yeti. If I give in 100k, does that get me an hour with the yeti?)

Posted 10 months ago by Rikki-Tikki Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thank you for your bid Rikki-Tikki.
I prefer cash over trade and I am not interested in trading for dolls at the moment.
4.5 million currants remains the highest bid.

  • @ Simplin. Thanks for clarifying that items will not be included in determining the highest offer and all offers should be in Currants only. At least this is what is I read as implied your comment above. If you would be so kind as to confirm, that would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm assuming the process is as simple as the highest offer in Currants at the time of the sale closing will be the proud and penniless new owner of a Yeti. (I'm avoiding words like 'bid' and 'auction' because I feel it's a stretch to say this reflects the process of true auction.)

So, for example, at 6:00PM PST you'll refresh this page and what you see is what you get. Someone else might refresh twenty seconds later, or earlier, and might see a different page and 'final' offer/s than what you see... but you'll 'award' the Yeti to the highest offer based on the page refresh YOU did at the time.  Is that a correct assumption?

If you could confirm/clarify the process, that would be swell.

I think this is something to consider/clarify since I believe some people may just be waiting this out now and last minute/second offers are quite likely.

    Thanks!

  • I'm curious about how this cut-off time will work, too. And now Stellar J's comment has me imagining all these people hunched at their computers, twitchily watching the countdown clock and hovering their cursors over the "post reply" button.

But what if Stellar J's scenario happens? Like, if two or more people are in a "bidding war" in the final moments, are you simply going to sell to whichever person has the best timing (i.e., gets the higher bid in closest to 6 PM PST) rather than to whichever person is actually willing to pay the most? Or will you extend the time until one person has "held" the highest bid for a certain number of minutes or something, like in a "going once, going twice, gone" sort of way?

If people are indeed lining up for a fast-and-furious round of last-minute bidding, it seems counterproductive to settle for the best-timed bid -- assuming, of course, your goal is to sell the yeti for as much as you can.

Ah … not that I have any stake in how this all turns out or anything, of course. I’m just, you know, looking out for your best interests here.

  • Greetings everyone:

    1. I will signal the end of the sale here in this thread using the countdown clock I provided above. All interested bidders should indicate the highest amount they are willing / able to pay in accordance with that timing.
    2. To simplify matters I will only accept currants or a SB-1 in trade.
    3. I would like payment within 12 hours of the close. Preferably immediately after. If I don't receive payment within 12 hours the second highest bidder becomes the winner.
