Amount of meat and milk harvested dropped??

I have Animal Kinship 4 and prior to this test (during the first beta test) I was getting 6 meat and 6 milk every single time, now I am only getting 3 meat and 3 milk most of the time. I get 6 and 6 occasionally but it is prolly 80% 3 and 20% 6. Did something change that I missed. Could someone shed some light on this for me please. Thanks!

  • Rather then giving a bonus every time (which was a mistake) now it has been tweaked back to what it was originally supposed to be which is a bonus every couple harvests.

  • Ok cool thanks. I was used to getting 6 every time lol....o how us testers are spoiled haha

  • We really are.

  • Also noticed this. I'm at Animal Kinship 7 and suddenly I am able to get only 4 meat and 4 milk per nibbling/milking session. I was quite surprised by the drop in number, since at AK6 I had a consistent supply of 12 meat/milk every time I nibbled/milked. Eventually noticed that I was indeed able to get the maximum amount of 16 meat/milk, but this was rather rare and at random, even at a full mood meter. I feel that the skill has been adjusted to give only either a minimum or a maximum amount per AK level. :(

EDIT: Oh... ok.... Never knew that was the previous setup.  Yeah, I admit --- I got spoiled by the bonuses. :D

  • problem is that the bonuses were almost necessary for kinship to rival other skill-sets.

so in effect this has nerfed a skill which was underpowered to begin with.

  • I agree with striatic (skill got nerfed).

One thing I don't get is how much meat someone could now possibly get if they were at AK1?  I'm at AK7 and the amount of meat I'm getting off the pigs isn't worth what it took to get to that skill level.  Plus, now that animals get 'tired' if you put too many of them in one place, it's really dampened this skill set considerably.

  • Maybe a happy medium? I think we were getting too much before and it made the game almost too easy, but I agree that the higher skill levels might need a tad more reward than they are currently getting.

  • I agree with striatic and zeeberk.

Gardening things and AK are now underpowered.

  • I think the numbers should be tweaked so the bonus is received more often for the higher skill levels. At this point, animal kinship isn't worth learning when the other skill trees are far superior in their rewards.

  • I like the idea of dropping the bonuses to happening every such and such % of the time, but what happens here is The Gambler's Fallacy of thinking that because you've harvested from X number of pigs, you're sure to get a bonus next time, and getting frustrated because you're not getting your bonus. So instead of having it be a flat percent, maybe have it work out that every pig you harvest increases the percent a bit (so that eventually if you're unlucky enough, you will get it on your next harvest), and when you get the bonus, it goes back to what it originally is supposed to be based on your Animal Kinship level. A 1/5 chance is always a 1/5 chance and sometimes you might not get it for hundreds of tries, whereas with a little scaling, you'll get your bonus eventually, which is why we all got Animal Kinship in the first place.

  • Or nerf mining. IMO, mining makes it way way too easy to earn money. It throws the game out of balance.

I like that the game is being balanced and tuned. The pace needs to be slowed a bit, so lowering AK and Gardening is a good idea, but only if they decrease mining's potential as well.

  • Not so sure that I agree with you on mining to earn money en. I don't mine just to earn currents, but to buy the things to make my game progress. Much is needed to buy tools and bags and the like to keep inventory. I feel that if you were earning less that it may slow the game and may make it more of a chore to acheive things that are necessary to advance.

  • Another thought about the amounts of meats and tree yields and the like... the randomness is not bad... it's maybe the range that's off now. Maybe it shouldn't be such a wide range of possible yields.

Also, during this test, I often couldn't SEE the amount I was getting anyway, due to the placement of the popup bubbles.

  • Not sure how many notice, but the bonus reduction applied across the board... mining rock amounts were more random (but the rock still contained 50)... tree harvests... the only thing I found consistent was chicken squeezing at 5/squeeze. Gardening harvests are still the same, but it felt like it failed more often than the previous two tests... course gardening success has always been a dice roll.

  • Hah, interesting, Travinara! I thought it seemed like it was taking ridiculously long for me to make my usual mining pass, but since I think in units of the rocks, I didn't notice that there was an actual thing that was different.

(It did seem like my feeder was emptying faster and my collectors were filling slower than in the past, though.)
