I like the open-ended style of play. I can wander aimlessly and get sidetracked as many times as I like, and it doesn't hurt anything (and is actually rather helpful sometimes when I stumble across new and/or important things).
For me it was the feeling that this was something new and different - i've not had a gaming experience like this before and I am completely enjoying it!
I was pretty confused in the begining that there is no "endgame". But later I found myself liking it. I was working on my fully automated farm last test - making up my own goal (endgame) is strange and at the same time nice feeling.
The obvious creative genius behind it all. From the varied artwork to the quirky humor. It's all so much fun to explore. I often find myself laughing out loud at the fun that is being poked at life on planet earth. The concept of the world being thoughts, fabulous! Skills that include meditation and alchemy interspersed with being told by a surly bureaucrat to wait in line for your papers.....truly, truly wonderful.
The humour, and the visual side - there's some great landscapes. And the being able to share the fun with so many other people. I hope they're working on more skills because we're rapidly running through them!
Glitch should put some of these quotes in adds and on its main page--there are some very well worded and positive comments here! I noticed that articles written about the game struggle to define it to the point of making it sound confusing or unattractive to readers (for the simple reason that the game is actually so hard to define).
I really like the humor that's evident throughout the game, from what different characters (pigs, trees, etc) say and the design of the whole thing. Even though I've seen a lot of what they say by now, I still read most of the speech bubbles that come up, looking for something I may have missed, because I don't want to miss anything. It's a fun world to be in, and especially so when it's shared with a wonderful community of players that (so far) can talk amongst themselves with familiarity.
I love everything. The humor, the graphics, the devs, GOD , my 300 or so BF being here, the Clinic, the game play ... all of it. Whats not to love ?!?
Edited to add: I used to have a bias against any game I had to play with the keyboard , but even that doesn't bother me here. I am still working on mastering one handed jumping/navigation on the laptop but even that's fun.
Wow, @Tingly, what an awesome way to reply to this thread! Now I REALLY need to know what the secret *** is (I'll force people to watch the link if they want to know what I'm talking about)!
Picking one thing I like best about Glitch is like trying to "catch a cloud and pin it down"...it can't be done! Ahem. Pardon me. Okay, the humor is right up there...the quests...the friends...the graphics... See? All right, I thought of it actually. What I love most is how each one of us can play the game differently. I can feed my competitive urge by striving for leaderboard goals while doing all the other things in the game I enjoy so much. I have a buddy who loves the mining aspect and spends most of her time doing that. Someone else can just basically wander around aimlessly and have a blast. Someone else might throw themselves full-tilt into the streets projects. Others might try to garden or cook and sell products. Others can focus on the animal skills and spend time naming the various critters. And more. I love seeing how differently we all approach the gameplay yet how nonetheless we are all enjoying it immensely together.
I like jumping around trying to reach for every single quoin on a street. I like the sound the trees make after you water them. I like that my boyfriend who sits around worrying about my addiction finds that dodgy. Also of course the humour, visual style (Ix!), developers, little details like selvedge jeans for my avatar, and for now at least, the smart, funny testers chatting in forums (im)patiently waiting for the game to open.
