  • I have that skill but can only see a tick and no box on the skills page. Is that right?
Posted 23 months ago by bluto Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It seems like it's missing the icon. I can learn it so all i can see is the border around it :).
Posted 23 months ago by Bibiri Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Ahh yes, didn't notice the tick there, must mean that people who've learnt it previously, don't have to learn it again. Yay!
Posted 23 months ago by Hburger Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Could anyone who has previously learned this skill tell us what it does, for the curious newbies :-)
Posted 23 months ago by Nossidge Subscriber! | Permalink
  • i don't think it did anything (neither did the other bureaucratic skills that had shown up) which is why they probably got hid from view for a bit.

  • We got to learn it but by the time the next test came up it had been withdrawn, Nossidge.
Posted 23 months ago by bluto Subscriber! | Permalink
  • looks like its return is imminent...

  • I could be wrong, but I've read elsewhere that this skill will now allow you to create notes. With paper from trees and a quill. This could come in super handy!
Posted 23 months ago by Leviathan Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Hmm... I know I've got paper, but how does one get a quill...? Can't wait for the new test to find out!
Posted 23 months ago by Nossidge Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Got a quill for 400 currants from the Level 4 East [Tools Vendor] at Ilmenskie Caverns. Now I just have to discover how to use the skill...

  • Looks like i have to drop the note after writing so other passers-by can read it. Overuse could possibly lead to a "notes pollution" scenario? There probably should be a limit on how many notes can be left on a street.
Posted 23 months ago by roderick ordonez Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Keep going.
I've got the quill, the paper, and the Penmanship skill which mean I can make and keep notes.. in the game.
I'm working on finding a way to share the notes without leaving them on the street.

  • The other problem with notes is that you pick them up to read them, then have to remember to drop them if you want to leave them where you found them. It's pretty easy to forget that. (I've left notes for people that have vanished and I bet it's people forgetting to put them back.)
Maybe after you're done reading you should get a choice of DROP/SAVE?
Posted 23 months ago by Helcat Subscriber! | Permalink
  • and re notes pollution....maybe they should have a shelf life?
Posted 23 months ago by Helcat Subscriber! | Permalink
  • You don't need to pick up notes to read them. In fact, the default option with selecting a note is Read, not Pick up.
Posted 23 months ago by Johnny Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Well duh, i just noticed that. Please ignore my ravings.
Posted 23 months ago by Helcat Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It'd be nice if there was a quest to go along with this. I dunno, something as simple as "Write three people notes and give it to them" or something.
Posted 23 months ago by Aldaris Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Poop. Got paper, got quill, got skill, but couldn't figure out how to write a note. Maybe next time....
Posted 23 months ago by Kentbrew Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I never found a vendor with a quill but I wasnt looking too hard. I had no quest for anything writing related so I kept forgetting about it.
Posted 23 months ago by Cap'n Bob Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I keep hearing about this default option. I'm still unclear on this. When I clicked a note the options were, in this order, Pick Up, Read. They were both the same font weight.

Playing the game trains people to pick everything up so it isn't surprising that we had a problems with this. If it could be more permanent, like planting a sign, or using a gnome other than in front of a home...

  • I don't quite remember where i found the quill but it was from a vendor. I left many Giant Scripture Verses lying around the meadow o_0
Posted 23 months ago by Leviathan Subscriber! | Permalink
  • lol @ Leviathan :)
Posted 23 months ago by Cap'n Bob Subscriber! | Permalink
  • And you don't have to leave them on the ground. I've got crib notes in my pack.
Posted 23 months ago by caley dunn Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It is an Animal Goods Vendor

  • I betcha ways to dispose of un-needed notes are on the way. If pigs eat planks...

Penpersonship is going to be part of Bureaucratic skills, but I would like to suggest an artistic offshoot: origami and paper lanterns. If we ever get fireflies, that would go super nice with the lanterns.

Also, should I assume that part of Bureaucratic skills will include calligraphy for fonts and ink making for text colors? Seems sort of obvious, maybe too obvious...

  • I just can't help but mention that you Canucks have pretty fantastic grammar.

    Totes rad.
Posted 23 months ago by Spencer Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The note interface was okay although it wasn't obvious that you could name the note. I hate the idea of just dropping them on the ground for others to find and read. Too much like littering.

How about if each street had a noticeboard, located somewhere near the shrine? We've also discussed post-boxes on houses. Those would be cool too.
Posted 23 months ago by bluto Subscriber! | Permalink
  • A notice board would be good. They should only be on certain streets though.
Posted 23 months ago by Cainunable Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I haven't had to drop a single note on the ground, why do you think you have to?
Posted 23 months ago by caley dunn Subscriber! | Permalink
  • caley, if you want random passersby to read something, you need to drop the note so they can read it as they walk by. thus the noticeboard suggestion since pieces of paper on the ground look like litter.

if you just want to makes notes for yourself or pass them around person to person, yes, dropping is unnecessary.
