Have you found your soul mate playing Glitch?

I have in my friend Gill288 in  Ponty Pridd, Wales....  and my beloved Lord Bacon-O... I have a proposition for you.
Let us confess our love and come out of the closet.   Leave your RL wife and come to California. Go west, young man.... Horace Greeley said it best.

  •   "Leave your RL wife and come to California."

What a horrid thing to say - supposing his wife does play this game and sees a comment like that.

  • napalmbeth, when I nicknamed you that, it was a meant as a suggestion to go the opposite direction in your conduct on the forums, not something to live up to.

If this is the way you would actually speak to people to their actual faces if they were in front of you, I guess all I can say is, do you kiss your momma with that mouth?  If it's not, then maybe you could consider applying that yardstick to your comments before you hit the Post button.

  • In my experience online, "so-and-so, will you marry me?" is just a really silly way to say you like so-and-so's personality, or maybe something specific they just did.

Sure, napabeth took it a little over the top with suggesting moving and leaving the wife, but I don't think any harm was meant.

  • But of course, my Glitcherini...    I was SO JOKING about Lord Bacon -O.      Somehow I assumed those who play Glitch   have a rolicking sense of humour and I do find most do.  I shall try to curb my wicked tongue and keep anything too acidic to myself.   You will never stop me from thinking what I think....   Why don't we all agree to Robert's Rules of Order.?    If you think you might say something barbed....        stop,   reconsider.            squash that .... we don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers...

  • Shoot, I was just about to get ready and move to CA, how can one resist the formal jacket with white...er...reddy tighties!  Wait, I'm a girl...and my husband plays glitch too, what if he sees my obvious desire to chuck it all in RL!!!

  • That's actually really sweet, stri :)

  • k, just pointed out my post to my sweetie, who is currently playing a shoot'em up game with non-Glitchian friends and his response to my obvious desire to run off to CA was a sad "well okay honey".  We may possibly need some time away from one-another to re-kindle the spark.  I'm thinking of moving my computer to the other side of the room...

  • @Striatic: you just went up a million points in my book for being so sweet.  I love when guys say really cute/sweet things about their wives/girlfriends.  Maybe one day my boyfriend will do it ><!

  • Love and soul mates are like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny for me.  I used to believe in them when I was younger, but no more!  Though I'm not denying that there are people out there who are in love and who do have soul mates.  It's just that I, personally, do not believe in those things.  I have my hands full dealing with my own life and problems, and don't want to add to that the troubles and worries that come with loving someone.

So while I don't doubt that a few people may find their soul mates while playing Glitch (or any other game), I don't believe that I will.

  • Oh, sweet sweet Lady Meringue. Never give up hope.  When you least expect it, someone wonderful can come into your life...I believe there is someone for every single person who is at peace with themselves and not looking....I notice that even the little toads in my garden are paired up....Before you can ever find happiness with a partner you have to be comfortable, approving and accepting of yourself, foibles and all.

  • "Before you can ever find happiness with a partner you have to be comfortable, approving and accepting of yourself"

So true.  So very very true.

  • So, what's goin' on here?

(As an aside.... Awwwwww. I'm not married but in committed relationship. Actually my gf read this thread before I did! And I do love Napa (although most of the time I have spent there I've been pretty drunk). BUT I grew up in California. Admittedly, Southern California. But I'm a new Yorker now, through and through. No going back for me!)

  • [ignoring all the bickering]

I've found my soul-mate in this game.  But she hasn't found me.

  • Lord Bacon-O..     this is my            lovesong to J. Alfred Prufrock..... and to you....
You remind me of Lord Byron...I see you are stately, well groomed but not a metrosexual... You exude charm and grace....When you walk into a room, heads turn...Your beloved is content to bask in your radiance but she also is a vision of loveliness.      This is what loves does... it warms the cockles of the heart.              and it is hard to find good cockles these days..

  • My soulmate found me in an online game called Blogshares. I did some freelance work for him. He thought we should be more than friends. I thought eh...no. He was right and I am thankful.

My Glitchmates -- ah! I have several whom I <3 very dearly and my life is greatly enhanced by knowing them.

But my heart will always belong to the He of Geeks. He is my best friend, partner and the most awesome father. Sadly he is too busy to play Glitch right now, but he loves I have a new online home.

  • Wow, I forgot about GNE "spouses" but it sounds like yours was for real, Stri! That's pretty cool. Who was she in GNE, if you don't mind me asking?

  • If Glitch survives two years, there WILL be at least one Glitch wedding. You can count on it.

(Please, devs, do NOT make that a quest.)

  • I hear ya Lady Meringue. I can understand what you are saying 100%. I love my hubby dearly and we have had a lot of fun. I am sure there is more fun to be had but i would not re-marry if something were to ever happen.

  • Love this thread, +1000 to striatic :)
I'll say also my good friend at work IRL met her now-husband playing WoW. So it does happen, and more than once in a blue moon!

napabeth:  accepting yourself first, I so agree.  Working on that first, myself.  I try to trust that the universe will send me other things when the time is right.

  • Trinkers was "Trinity" in the prolonged, stuttering beta period. she didn't play the alpha, nor did i*

we only met and became friends then though. there were *years* between meeting in GNE and actually developing a romantic relationship. so if you worried that we were, like, rampantly cybering with each other in Bobbleton, forever sullying your fond memories of the place, you would be mistaken.

*with the exception of the more recent, one day april fools revival, which we both played the stuffing out of.
Posted 17 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • That's awesome Striatic, thank you for sharing, and Trinkers if you do decide to play Glitch you will have many friends here I'm sure :)

I also know a married couple who met on WoW, which meant a move half way across the world for one of them.
Posted 17 months ago by Teena Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Oh, goodness, no, Striatic. I did not have those/need those mental images of bobbleton being sullied with such cybering!! I was just curious if it was a name I recognized.
Posted 17 months ago by Eureka Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @striatic is indeed a sweetheart. I'll keep him!

As for playing Glitch, I do want to play, it's just that the tests are usually on while I'm at work. When they're on during my off hours, I tend to either be unaware of it or already busy with something else. This thread has made me look around a bit at people's profiles and stuff, and I see that there are badges now! I do like the badges--I think the next time there is a test when I'm not at work I'll have to give Glitch another try.

And yes, I probably *could* play while at work, but I'm employed by the government and they tend to frown when they read news stories about their employees playing games while at work...
