glitch mash - how does it work?

Does anyone know more about how Glitch Mash works? What formula is used to calculate rankings, that kind of thing? Seems like some interesting stats work. Also, what algorithm determines which glitches come up for voting and how often?

  • Ranking is just based on the % positive votes shown.

  • I don't think that's true, TomC. It's also weighted by how many total votes received.

  • Hmm when I view the page, the highest % votes are at the top. When there's a tie, it's only because of rounding but it's still ordered based on highest % if you look at more decimal places.

  • well, for instance I added a new outfit today. It won 3/3 votes, so it was at 100%. But it wasn't at the top of the "top outfits" page. Similarly when it had 4/5 votes it was at 80% and not on the "top outfits" page then either.  It's probably doing something like this:  http://www.evanmiller.org/how-not-to-sort-by-average-rating.html

  • There is some minimum number of votes which must be received before it will show up in the Top Outfits (I think it is is 30?). All the code is open-sourced though, so you can always get to the bottom of it :)

  • This is so much fun! I hadn't seen it before.

There are so many amazing (and some funny) outfits to look at that I have spent an hour of my Glitching time on there. It was difficult to leave :D

Thanks for posting the link FunkyUK!
