More people = More lag?

Is it my impression or the game is getting more and more laggy each day?
Could it be because of the number of players that have been raising significantly?

  • I've seen some lag on occasion, but nothing lasting or significant. A crowded street can be pretty laggy, but that's the same issue with any game.

  • I just walk quickly through busy streets and don't try to do anything.  There are always lots of other, almost deserted, locations.

  • It has nothing to do with the amount of people in the streets but (i guess) the big amount of people, in general, playing the game. I am not sure though, but perhaps something with the servers?
Beside the lag, it consums lots of RAM.
The number of users is increasing and maybe something should be done about all that.

  • It is AWEFUL!  I would take not being able to gain *any* mining bonuses over not being able to play glitch *at all*.  Please make it work!  :-D  I'm practically dying of boredom!!  ;-P

  • Ouch! Describe your computer in detail, @Reba.

  • From what I've seen, it has a lot more to do with RAM usage than other users online. Try to keep an eye on how much your computer is using when you notice lag, and take the time to restart your browser every few hours.

  • Maybe they could make their own Tiny Speck Browser... lighter and perfect for Glitch.

  • As someone who never had lag in beta (well rarely had lag) the only difference now is the number of people in game, I haven't changed anything from my end.  So I think more people = more lag.

  • You might try to have just Glitch open in the browser - I read somewhere that should help.  If you want more siites, open another browser session.

I have not had lagging issues at home (lots of RAM) or while travelling with my little netbook (tiny ram) except in streets with lots of people.

  • I wrote a response in the other similar thread earlier which might help: www.glitch.com/forum/genera...

And also: we now have confirmation that many of the Greasemonkey scripts cause significant slowdowns in performance. If performance is no good for you and you are running these scripts we recommend disabling or uninstalling them (even though we love the developers for making them!)

Finally, we are working very hard on improving performance across the board, every day. The new version of Flash this week *may* be an improvement (of course, it could also make things worse) but, in the long term, it will give us the opportunity to do some things performance-wise which we have not been able to up to this point.

(And we are looking at shipping a tiny Glitch-only browser … that would probably help.)
