Improved tools phasing out from vendors

From Glitchlog:
Vendors are no longer selling four 'premium tools', but with the right skills, tinkerers can now craft them for compats and customers alike.

A nice change, IMO. The less crafted items available at vendors, the better.

  • The slow shift is exciting.

Really want player owner "store fronts" of some sort. I find the auction... impersonal in away.

    But still exciting.

  • Stoot, I can not tell if that is sarcastic, teasing, hinting, enthusiastic, or what.

Don't care. All of it works.

  • oh crap... why does this stuff get posted when I'm getting ready to go to bed...

Which tools are no longer available from vendors?

And I guess this means I need to up my Tinkering capabilities... :)

  • Might be able to create a off-line store front using the auctions and the Glitch API. I thought about it today. I'm booked solid project-wise or I'd try it.

  • I would so love to have a storefront...set up shop in the mines selling Earthshakers, Awesome Stews, and Flaming Humbabas and fancy picks!

  • I would love to shop at booths.  Have bazaars set up, like the community gardens.

  • Some people have been working on street fairs. I saw a notice for one today, but I was busy nursing a wood tree and couldn't make it :( It's probably gone by now too.

  • Off line stuff doesn't appeal to me... basically the same as auction but with fancy coat.

  • Nice.  I was already buying tools on auction because the aspiring tinkers were beating vendor prices.

  • the potential to be a self employed store front holder in Glitch - how cool?!

will you be running the lottery from one too, Lord Bacon-o? that would be awesome! :)

  • @ stoot...will y'all be putting a usage indicator on the tools in the auction?
It's not cool when you buy one just to find out it needs to be repaired.

  • Crap!  I donated my high class hoe to a shrine by mistake tonight and now don't have one :(

  • I see the appeal of driving crafting to be better than store bought. I also see the reason for wanting to push players towards interacting with other players instead of playing solo. However, it can often be a real hassle as well for certain other players.

The moment someone starts shopping for a "deluxe tool", this change sets in and the shops stops carrying them. Follow this up by a quick "price jump" of these deluxe tools on the Auction House and things get annoying REAL fast.

  • Yeah, a durability indicator needs to be added to the Auction if improved tools are going to be bought exclusively from there.
