Glitch on Steam Greenlight?

I've been sitting on this idea for a while...

As someone who plays other games on Steam (and checks on Glitch with it's built in browser :P) I'd love to see Glitch on Steam if as some kind of special Steam flash browser thingie or something. Just to get it out there and get others aware of it. It'd be nice for others to see someone playing "Glitch" and get them wondering what kind of game Glitch is. Also the fact that you can recommend to friends and the like it pretty cool. With more supporters and more players, what can possibly go wrong?

  • According to the links there...
Once a game is accepted through Steam Greenlight, it doesn't take long to get it launched on Steam, so feel free to hold off on posting to Greenlight until you're ready to announce.

I don't know anything about what it means to have a game on Steam beyond what I've read in the past five minutes, but from my understanding adding Glitch to Greenlight wouldn't just add it to a directory of searchable games but start processes that Tiny Speck might not be comfortable with (e.g. 4 and 5 and 6).

  • For the most part I just wanted to toss it out there, I'm pretty sure that:

    3. Do you take XNA, Flash or Adobe Air games?
Yes, we accept all three types on Steam. Flash games need to be wrapped so that they launch from a stand-alone executable.
    (Taken from technical details)

That may or may not present a problem for it in terms of coding and the like. As I said in a status update this may or may not fly. There are games on Steam that are Free to Play with some payable options (and their pricing are the same as before if I'm not mistaken, so it doesn't really seem to affect it by much).

  • If Glitch ever switches to a client instead of being browser based, Steam might be a cool idea. Granted, I have no clue how the process works. I can see the headaches caused by people running different client versions versus everyone always using the same, most up to date version. Bring browser based allows TS to constantly push us updates, even as easily as we walking our Glitch to the next street.

  • -1 if you want to tell people about Glitch, why not just tell them? There are already various avenues for doing so. I don't see the need to bring an organisation like Steam into the mix as well.

  • -1 TS does a great job, and i don't think its a good idea. In the current model its easy to update because its browser based and revenue would have to be shared if on Steam as well. Also they don't publicly state how revenue is split, mind you that may be on a case by case basis. I could be wrong but it seems from what i read that you have to apply without knowing ALL their stipulations, that alone makes me not like the idea. Also as others have said the game is out there, invites are enabled,  and we're still in Beta too.

  • -1 as well.  I don't have a problem with steam itself, but I originally found this game because I was looking for a browser game so I wouldn't have to install anything else on my mom's computer and so that I could play it anywhere without installing any special software.
