What's with the new Perks upgrades?

I'd thought there were there for newbies. I mean, I thought I already had camera mode. But "Medium Triple Jump" just got dealt in my hand so now I'm confused. Are some cards actually new upgrades while others are cards we already have by default? Did I just waste 1500 iMG buying the Medium Triple Jump upgrade?

  • I think everyone by default had Baby Triple Jump, so Medium Triple Jump might allow you to triple jump even higher.

  • watch the new tutorial video. Players buy the first few cards in there. (but for the players that have been playing you get the cards automatically)

  • I actually don't have any triple jump cards, nor did I get any of the movement upgrades until I sent in a ticket about it. I was stuck moving as if I were Pooped all the time. This was shortly before they finished revamping the tutorial.

  • Looking at Perks I supposedly haven't purchased I know for a fact that I can learn skills and use the map so clearly some haven't been granted to old players in a way that shows them as acquired.

The question is whether some of them are in fact true upgrades. I guess if I get dealt Baby Triple Jump I'll know for sure.

  • Just to add: I guess in a way the costs are informative. Some of those are 15 and 20K so clearly they aren't all for beginners.

  • I'm just speculating, but I wouldn't think Baby Triple Jump would be available to you if you already got Medium Triple Jump. So it was probably given to you by default but doesn't show as being given..?

I know the triple jump cards don't show as being dealt to me, and I don't have the ability to triple jump, so I guess they somehow missed me. They're probably lost in my deck somewhere.

  • Walk Speed IV, Jump Height III and the two higher levels of Triple Jump are new for existing players (i.e., not part of the tutorial). These are upgrades which take you beyond normal Glitch movement.

Mahkia, it looks like something went wrong for you. We'll look into it!

  • I'm not showing that I have any of the triple jump perks (including baby triple jump), or the walk speed perks either. But I seem to be walking okay.

  • Taniya, the Encyclopedia's Upgrades pages aren't accurate in showing checked off cards if you got some cards as part of existing players' default package. However your own upgrade cards list should be accurate here:  http://www.glitch.com/profiles/me/upgrades/ (Scroll to the bottom to see cards you got as part of the conversion, some back in May and the tutorial ones in July).

  • While I *do* seem to be walking marginally more briskly, I don't detect any difference in my triple jump. Which is okay, but I'm wondering if I SHOULD be noticing a difference.

  • TomC, thank you! Using your link I can see that I received them :)

  • Taniya: you have 'em — you can see them here: www.glitch.com/profiles/PUV...

Pascale: Depends on the exact sense of "should be noticing": it should be working, but it won't necessarily be easily noticeable since triple jumping is so strongly influenced by jump timing and lateral momentum — the difference between two jumps can be about 300% just from different timing/speed so you'd have to be extremely patient and discerning to really notice a 10-15% multiplier on top of that.

  • @stoot Thanks for the clarification!

  • Update: I also notice that many of the "newbie" upgrades are showing as 'unearned' on my encyclopedia page. Just by-the-bye.

  • I haven't seen any new cards. All I ever seem to get dealt are quoin multipliers and brain capacity.
