I'm really curious how you'll figure this out, Humbabella; is there some way to tell how close you are to the next meditation achievement (or any other)?
My schedule to figure this out was overly ambitious. I'm still working on the answer, but it will take me considerably longer than I planned. I should have it by the end of the weekend, though.
I suppose she would levitate over and over and mesasure that time and if it went over the maximum amount of time she needed for her next badge (next badge time minus last badge time) the answer would be no?
@ Humbabella: I believe that would properly be called !Science! ;-)
I would be very interested in the answer to this, though my guts seem to thing that the answer is "no." That said, my guts have guano for brains, so there you go.
My guts say yes and no.
And I thought teleporting to parties counted as a teleport. Costed energy... but no cooldown...
So judging the fact that levitation has cooldown as well for my guess. Though my second pair of guts says no.
@Palindrome In theory, though do people actually track things like seconds of meditation time so far?
My assumption is that if you thought you were close to the next badge you could only levitate and see if you got it, but you'd surely need to know you were pretty darned close in order to predict how soon you'd know one way or the other. Hence my question.
Well, the right way to do it is to levitate until you've done it enough and then see whether you get the badge or not. Levitation lasts 5 seconds and the bottom meditation badge is 23 minutes. So 12 levitations per minute would give 276 needed levitations to get there. Since each one has a 20 second cooldown, that would require 6900 seconds to do, which is 115 minutes or just under 2 hours.
What really delayed my efforts, though, is that Levitation requires Rambler, 1st Class to learn. Leveling a new alt to level 4 and learning the skills is basically almost no time requirement at all. Running around to more than a quarter of the streets in the world means I have to find time to do that.
No, I was just saying that I finally understood that Humbabella would do it via an alt (couldn't figure out how to reasonably do it with a character that's already done a ton of meditation).
My guess is that whenever you see the orb appear in front of you and roll around you are meditating for the purpose of the achievement. I strongly suspect that Focused Meditation and Transcendental Radiation both count. Martial Imagination is a good question, but much harder to test.
