Tool Chests

On which streets can you find them for sale?

I know they are a contentious topic in the forum, but I'd still like to buy some, and somehow I've only stumbled across them for sale when I didn't have the money or free slots and, of course, forgot to make a note of where they were. Now that I want one I can't find them! (Hmm. So much like shopping in real life.)

If anyone could point me at where to buy them I'd appreciate it. Thank you!

  • From any hardware vendor.  Just look on your map, they are easy to find.

  • Hardware vendors stock them.

(But, IMHO, you'll do better with any of the 'bigger bags' - the toolbox doesn't hold ALL of your tools. My cooking tools stayed in another bag, and my pick and grinder moved back out into the bag with the Flaming Humbabas and Earthshakers.)

  • I like having two toolboxes--one for cooking supplies (and beaker/test tube) and one for gardening/mining/other alchemy.  There is a slot or two left for a few of the bazillion random kindnesses I end up getting.

I like having things organized this way--the only think I would like better is if toys could go in there.

  • All my tools and things I don't consider tools go into my toolboxes. But yes, the map will show you the hardware vendors from which you can buy them.

  • I'm with noqualia on this, 2 tool boxes food & everything else.
Another thing you can toss in there is your bear.

  • I didn't know the bear could go in. Cool!

Even just with bags, I've had a similar system to many of you: one for kitchen tools, a second for other tools.

But not all tool vendors stock them, do they? Maybe I haven't been scrolling down far enough.

Running off to check the nearest tool vendor, now.

Thanks very much to everyone for the replies and help.

  • You can get by with one toolbox if you consider that there are some tools you just don't need to carry with you.  That said, when your inventory is all bags it's nice to be able to zero in on your tools in an instant.

  • On tools organization: I used to have cooking and other tools separate. Now I've got them separated into tools I interact with/use from my inventory (like cooking tools, grinder) and tools that I only look at when broken.

More things should go into them, though. Like firefly jars and butterfly lotion (though I don't need that anymore, but still) and a few other things that I think are tool-like.

  • When in doubt check the wiki.

  • Love my tools chests. I have two, and both are full of tools.  Nice to know where they are.

  • Thanks everyone for the help. I am the very happy owner of two shiny new tool chests. Yay!

And I made a discovery: keys will go in them, too. As will my medidation orb.

Eye Wonder, I had checked the wiki. But ,because I didn't know to scroll down with the tool vendors, I still wasn't finding them until people here helped. I agree that the wiki is a tremendous resource.

QueenKellee, I like the sound of your system. I'm going to give it a try!

  • Oops, correction: keys won't go in. But Random Kindness thingies will.
