I just have some questions--not complaints

Last test, I was feeling a need to try a new house again. I've resided in the Meadows and Alakol, but I always return to the firebogs. I dearly love all the bog homes I've had, and friends know my attachment to egg plants and fireflies.

I'm likely going to live in the Heights at reset, so I thought I'd try a cave. When I saw the new places in Andra, I knew I found something to try on for size. :) A friend purchased the 10,000 currant style. With the pen that many desire, it seems like a fair investment. Upon visiting her home, I came to love the color filter there that made the reds so bold. I'm a jumper and climber (no good at these but enjoy them), so I got the 7500 currant model. This seems steep to me with 12 plots and 1 patch, but I was buying for the colors and out of restlessness anyway.

The part I am curious about is the absence of a dark patch/egg plant. For 2500 or 2750 (no difference I can see between the models other than price no matter which location), I can have 4 fewer plots (8), 2 patches and an egg plant/dark patch in Bortola or Groddle Heights.

My questions are: What am I paying for in Andra? Location? If so, location to what? OR Did my egg plant/dark patch get lost in a street building phase gone wrong? ;)

  • Yea, I was scratching my head over the 5K and 7.5K models too...at least with a 10K model you at least get the pen (though I thought at least one more tree patch would have been appropriate for the price)...seems the cheaper models in the Heights or Bortola are much better value for the price...and their locations seem better too being closer to subways.

  • I really dislike the filter in the Andra caves..makes everything look teal...perhaps you are paying for the realization that u belong back in the bogs where your fireflies miss you, JW.

  • Wait....the ones with pens are only 10k? Then why did Gable need 15k to buy her cave? That little bugger schnookered me! Lmao.

  • Remember when the bogs did not have herb gardens? No one but the brave few lived there. Balancing the population of the regions is certainly challenging!  I wonder what is up the devs sleeves this time.

JW you know your heart was captured by the bog creatures---and those shrunken heads that hang everywhere there!

  • If you don't value the animal pen highly then it is tough to justify when compared to the Heights houses. And I know you are an egg eater so I would feel really deprived if I were you about the lack of a dark patch. How are you about the floor space? I'm a floor stacker and that is not enough room for my stuff, personally. I don't know if you have owned a Heights house before but that ridge upstairs on the right/back side can be a pseudo pig pen if you hatch them up there. Nothing contains the chickens and butterflies though I did enjoy watching my chickens climb my ladder!

So to answer your question, you're paying for your teal colored glasses!

  • @Mary-- I didn't get to 10,000 one with pen. I do feel it is a fair value though.
I just got the 7500 one as I said. It is larger inside than the caves of Bortola and the Heights, but the cabinet is the same size, you gain only 4 plots, and lose a regular patch and a dark patch. I think something is missing for the extra 5000 currants compared to the Heights-style caves.
Oh, and I do have my piggies contained since they don't want to fall down the ladder hole. ;)

Ty, goofy friends who responded. LOL! Crazy women!

  • Sorry, my reading comprehension sucks today!

With the gardening changes recently, even 4 patches will really help with productivity so for me, that alone is worth quite a bit but 5000 currants? I dunno.

  • Whoa, this is a stinky deal!  Pigs don't actually fall down the ladders in Groddle Heights, so that's not a problem (though chickens definitely do)... and my GH house has two regular patches, a dark patch, and eight garden plots.  I can't imagine why the prices on Andra houses are so high.  I did notice that the change in color, which I think of as "the dirt effect," seemed less pronounced on the residential street I visited than it did on regular streets there, but I still found it vaguely depressing.  I'm still waiting for a house which has it all.

  • Given that the treehouses give the same 12 plots and 18 storage units as the 7.5k Andra homes--and include 2 additional tree patches--but only cost 2.2k currants, I'd say the 7.5k and 5k Andra houses are indeed just for the teal colored glasses, as Mary put it. :/

Here's hoping they get improvements next test. Maybe these will be the homes people have been wanting with both regular and herb gardens?

  • I guess I'll hold out hope that there is something that hasn't been added to the house yet but may be in the plans for the future. Glad I was just moving for the fun and colors. Thankfully, I buy a little more wisely in RL.

  • Before I bought my first house I spent a lot of time looking at the real estate listings and comparing features.  it seemed to me then (several months ago) that there were some rather expensive homes that had fewer features than some that cost much less.  It made no sense to me and finally decided that maybe it was due to popularity of the area.  I still don't know.  I purchased a tree house in GF which had more patches than a more expensive one I had considered someplace else.  I guess it pays to spend a lot of time comparing houses though you might lose the one you want while you are doing that.

  • I don't understand the extra expense of the Andra houses either...  I wanted to jump and move there when i first saw the new realty listings, but balked when i realized it didn't have a dark patch, and in fact had only ONE patch at all!  What am I missing?

  • I'm still looking for my beach cottage with the ocean waves at my backdoor, and of course appropriate lighting.  Sunsets and sunrises each day, sand between my toes and a nice 2 piece girls bathing suit.  Am I asking for too much?  I didn't think so.  :)

  • Thanks for pointing out these houses JW, I hadn't even realised you could get a cave with a pigpen :)

I think a 10k house with a pig-pen is a welcome addition and the pen alone probably makes it worth the compromise of losing the extra patches including dark patch...but I don't get what is going on with the cheaper models minus pigpen. Why would you buy one when you can get much better in the heights? Ok apart from the fun colours, and because a change is as good as a rest ;-)

  • LMAO!! Leave it to me to always be the oddball - still waiting for some of the big houses to not have a pen!

But, yes, JW! TY for pointing those houses out - it looks very lovely there...just wish it had more floor space.
