Walking

For a little while now, I've been having great difficulty in walking. I've seen various posts on this topic, but none seem to address the problem I'm having. Here's what happens:

To start with, I can move around in the game quite normally. After a little while (sometimes just a minute or two, sometimes longer), it becomes increasingly hard to stop walking. I'll be moving to (say) the left, and when I release the left arrow key, I will continue walking for a little while, overshooting (sometimes by quite a way) the point at which I was trying to stop. If I try to jump, there is a similar delay before the jump happens. It's as though those key presses are being buffered for a little while before being handled. Jumping on to a platform is virtually impossible.

This is rather frustrating, and the last few times I've played, I've just ended up giving up and quitting the game. As it is, it's pretty much unplayable.

  • Does it happen in one browser, or all of them? When did it start?  Any locations in particular you notice? (Ix is a common one we are investigating.) Does re-installing Flash make a difference? Can you submit a bug report in the game when you are bogged down?

  • This also happens to me,
    for 15minutes after entering the game it's absolutely fine, but later on it keeps on lagging.
    I'm surprised that there were a lot of topics like this, I guess I haven't checked forums in quite a while.

    @kevbob
    Mhhm, you mentioned Ix. I have another problem that only consults one street in that region but the other streets I'm totally fine with ^^
    There's a street in Ix which the loading page doesn't work (or should I say, it takes a long time and after a while it just shows "reconnecting you to the server"), and it bothered me.
    I believe the street was called Guillermo Gamera Way.
    I can battle through by either teleportation or if I'm close to a street sign and clicking on a random street. But it takes a couple of times to refresh the page, and it takes quite the time. The timing doesn't bother me that much but sometimes when I'm in a hurry I just .. lose it.

  • MOLAIN- we have a specific request in the Known Issues topic about that:

    Loading issues with Ix and Guillermo Gamera- If you run into problems loading streets in Ix, or issues changing streets, please send us a bug report from the location you notice the problem.

    The reason is we want client error data that is generated in a bug report, to try and discover why it affects some players negatively. (We acknowledge it's problematic for some- the strange thing is, it doesn't happen for us, so that's why the bug reports are requested.)

  • It started happening before Christmas. I didn't really get much time to play then though, nor over the holiday, so I didn't really look into it too deeply at the time. It would happen everywhere. Places I explicitly recall having problems were in my home (Navran Dissent), Toxic Moon (I gave up on the party), and various streets throughout Groddle Forest, but I'm pretty sure it was universal.

    I use Safari on OS X as my main browser. So, I've just re-installed the debug Flash player, thinking that might be helpful and entered the game. Rather typically, it all seems to be playing fine now - at least I can't reproduce the problem right now. I also just tried playing in Chrome and that too seems fine.

    Now, I do recall updating Flash recently - I forget exactly when, but I'd guess sometime in December? Perhaps that coincided with the start of my problems. If I get time later, I'll try re-installing the standard Flash Player and see if that makes a difference.

  • I have the same issue. It just started a couple of days ago. I'm on OS X with Safari 5.1.2 and Flash 11.1.102.55.
