Suggestion : convenience features for mining and harvesting

I really love glitch, i descried it to my coworkers as a wired hybrid of eve online and farmville.

the only thing what is a bit boring is the mining. Because clicking 10 times and waiting in between for X seconds is not that fun ...

it should be possible to have a option "Mine 5 times" or "Mine until out of energy"
also a "Harvest all crops", "Water all fields", "Tend all fields" option would be nice

    Not at all... I had another browser window open and was reading something else while I mined. I like the options Chorge proposes.

  • If you learn Mining IV it is a lot shorter wait time between mining actions.  I usually do what Finólia said and browse in another window or tab, come back, hit enter twice, and then go about my business again.

    What I find buggy about tending to your garden is sometimes you'll click on a plot and nothing happens; you have to click on it in a slightly different spot to get the action to start.  Also, it's pretty annoying having animals  wandering in front of plots when you're trying to tend.  It would be nice to be able to fence off the animals so they don't get in the way.

  • yes i do the same, i do something else in a different browser window, especially when i am converting 100 fruits or something. the thing is there is the convenience feature that you can convert more then 1 fruit so there should be a convenience feature that i can mine X times so that i can do something else in a diff tent browser window without checking every 15 seconds to click on the ore again.

  • I think it's a difficult balance...

    Processes like mining should be boring enough so you want to learn more, but not so that you think the game itself is boring and want to stop playing, which was about to happen before the last Beta session closed.

  • I know what you mean, but i think players will still learn the mining skill even if a "Mine until out of energy" option is in because it increases the chance to find a gem, give more XP and reduces the energy costs.

    in crafting and harvesting management games like Glitch you have a lot of repetitive stuff and i think its important to remove as much as possible to minimize the feeling of boring grinding.

  • Yes it can be tedious, but I think that is a good thing. 

    People will not want to sit mining all the rocks on a street, and will go off and play the other parts of the game, harvesting and collecting etc. This will give others a chance to mine.

    The game is more balanced for it.

  • @John Galt, I think the garden issue you're experiencing is intentional. Sometimes you will try to water a plant or clear a patch and fail, losing energy and mood.  You just need to hit enter again to try again.
