I know this has been fixed a while ago, but the fix helps prevent a lot of chaos and confusion from possibly happening.
The Fix and Addition:
When you are on anyone's profile page, you now, after a long period of time of it's absence, receive a confirmation on whether you want to block them, or if they happen to be your friend/contact, a confirmation of it you want to remove them from your friend's list.
The Advantage: There is a small time lapse where you can visually see the change i.e. I can click "block" onto say my best friend (assuming say... I had plans of catching up on their updates after a long vacation, or whatever the case might be), close the tab, and go elsewhere. That's why I usually wait when I hit "Add to Buddy List". Sometimes you have to wait when you are block/unblocking.
Why it's even especially significant now:
In the old days, when someone blocked you for no clear reason, you'd go to near their house (if they had one), leave a note in front of it and hope for the best (and especially hope that no one would take the note). Alternatively, you could use a friend, but it was risky, depending on the person, and the following factors could have occurred:
- The person who blocked you was genuinely irritated, and was bothered when people would *IM* them about the situation.
-The person who blocked you (and was genuinely irritated) would erupt like a volcano on the possibly innocent (if they just do it the first time and don't badger the blocker) person who IM'd them.
(What would be acknowledged by staff, would be the content of the note. So there would be no worry about being reported for something you're curious about when you are unsure where you have done wrong. [Thank you, Araldia])
And nowadays... We each have our own street. So if you're blocked by someone, you can't just enter their street and leave a note. You *could* have a friend do it... if you were willing to risk the other person logging on and creating a possibly awkward situation. And the fact that IM'ing the person who blocked you may not be a great idea, you would pretty much be hopeless.
So, back to the "bug", this fixes a lot of things, for it has happened to me twice in the past, and has freaked out one of a set two (good) friends.
Thank you for reading.
