Bean Trees... * sighs *

Before reset, our great alakol had lots of bubble trees....
now... BEAN TREES?!?! they are ok but really.. i think we take charge and replant some bubble trees.

1. Butterflies need bubbles... and any UR street would like butterflies right?
2. bubbles can be used for the bubble trophy!
3. they are easy to store and feed to pigs ( including planks but they won stay wood trees for long sadly )

  • 4.  Bubbles are useful for making Earthshakers, Flaming Humbabas, Hearty Groddle Sammiches, and Hearty Omelets--you need them for the fizzy sauce.

  • I find the alakol landscape to be so scenic and picturesque that the drab blahness of a bean tree against the foggy muted tones of the street is just an eyesore, if you ask me, which you didn't.

  • Kajuu used to be full of bubbles too - now it's beans and fruit

I realised this after I'd bought my house

  • You can't plant bubbles in Kajuuu anymore

  • You can't plant bubbles in Kajuu OR Alakol anymore, but you can in all of the Groddles. First thing I did when I got Botany was try to replant bubbles, only to be disappointed.

It makes me really sad. I  used to live in Kajuu and really loved that it was a semi-desolate place with nothing but bubbles and dirt. Beans and Fruit look totally out of place in that landscape.

  • Bubbles are pretty on the Groddle island though!

  • I'm with Sheepy. :\ I bought a house again in Kajuu, expecting to be close to bubbles, only to find that bubble trees can no longer be grown there. Super disappointed at lack of 50k houses are in bubble-friendly areas.

  • i think that groddle should become the bean tree ghetto, because it would be a um... interesting economical experiment. eh?! eh?!?!

  • I like bean trees! I make awesome stew, and each stew requires 20 beans.  That means a full stack of 250 beans only makes 24 awesome stews.  I go through 'em quick!  I like them in a mix with fruit and bubble trees because I use them too, but I always run out of beans first.

  • Sheepy - I am surprised to find Bean and Fruit Trees in Kajuu as well. I would love to meet the master gardener that can coax a Cherry tree into growing when planted in a sandy desert. I would learn and quickly publish their secrets...

  • katlazam- It is much more fun to get out your Special Item That Only Beta Testers Get ( also known as The Magic Mr.Pickle Toy) and sneeze beans everywhere. Of course, you had to be there for the Great Reset to get the toy, but that's beside the point.

  • Typical stew-eaters, thinking only of their own gluttonous diets with no regard for the landscape that we all have to share... ;D

And yeah I am all for sneeze-beans because they are hilarious, not to mention unattached to any horrid bean trees!

  • You must not have the Awesome Stew recipe if you prefer bubble trees to bean.  Bubbles are useful but you go through a ton of beans.

  • It is entirely possible to have the awesome stew recipe and make a conscious choice to eat something else because of the principles behind it. I recommend gumbo!!

  • Not all of us cook.  I've never made Awesome Stew, but I go through some hundreds of bubbles a day.

1 Awesome Stew I'm told takes 20 beans?  As an example, 1 Caterpillar egg takes 38 bubbles and something like 200 energy, meaning having to harvest OTHER stuff too.  Bubble tea takes.. uhh... 29.

That means with Gardening III, 2 harvests = 1 Stew.  Caterpillar eggs would take 4 harvests and Bubble tea would take 3.  Could the bean-users please have pity on the bubble-collectors who actually end up gathering from multiple regions in a day just to get enough, and leave the bubble trees in peace?

  • I've already replanted a majority of Bortola to bubble trees, and they're all over Groddle Heights.  There are lots of good places to harvest a lot of bubbles quickly.

  • Awesome Stew takes
    20 beans,
    3 potatoes,
    2 cabbage,
    2 onions,
    2 parsnips,
    and 1 saffron.

and I use a lot more food than hatchable eggs in a game day.

  • And can't we all live together? There's a balance of bean and bubble trees, that's all I'm saying.  I don't only cook stew, because gathering beans at the rate that I run into them, and gathering also fruit and bubbles and gas and eggs and so on, I run out of beans first.  I use bubbles to make bubble teas, and Ix braised meats, and fruit to make flummery, and so on and so forth - but I do use beans as well

I guess I just don't understand these threads about trees.  I am going to withdraw from them for a while.

If life hands me a bunch of bubble trees, I'll go make bubble tea.
If life hands me a bunch of bean trees, I'll go make awesome stew.

  • Some of us use lots of bubbles. (I make caterpillars to donate)
Some of us use lots of beans. (I make awesome stew to keep the hunger away)

This does not mean that there should be nothing but bubble trees, or nothing but bean trees.  It means there should be a roughly equal balance of all trees that each region can support in said region, so that everyone has equal access to resources.  It's not like it's very hard to travel around the world and collect things.

  • Unfortunately, you can not plant Bubble trees in Alakol anymore. The Devs decided they didnt like that idea.

I wish I could find the list of exactly where trees can be planted on glitch wiki. But I cant seem to find it.  So, by memory (correct me if I am wrong) Bubble trees can be planted in: Groddle Heights, Groddle Forrest, Groddle Meadow, Bortola, Tamila, Aranna, Muufo,  and IX.

Oh, and I do not make Awesome Stew. I make fortifying gruel which uses 18 bubbles per serving.

  • Awesome Stew is, by definition, awesome. What do you have against things that are awesome?

  • I wonder if my RL aversion to beans subconsciously plays a role my reluctance to make Awesome Stew very often.

My favorite IG items to make are Expensive Grilled Cheese and Meat Tetrazzini, though. Except that in RL, I don't really care for tomatoes or tomato-based products that much either. But tomato-based products are more edible to me in RL, at least, and I do occasionally enjoy tomato-based products.

So I imagine for some reason I like the process of making those other two things more. Hmm... I'll have to think about this more the next time I'm doing a large cooking batch.

Anyway, beans and bubbles are both necessary!

  • Walk a few street up to Bortola. We have most of our fruit trees replaced by bubble trees recently so there are PLENTY here.
Posted 14 months ago by Elly Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Elly - I thought Bortola used to be the #1 area for bubble trees?  It's now #2, though not sure if that's because of changes in Heights or changes in Bortola.  Just based on zoggish.appspot.com/locations.

  • I think Elly means to come to Bortola for bubble trees.

  • @Little Miss Giggles, Yep :).  I was just interested since I didn't realise those bubble trees used to be fruit trees.

  • 238 Bubble Trees: Groddle Heights (57), Bortola (39), Groddle Forest (33), Groddle Meadow (29), Besara (28), Tamila (19), Muufo (16), Aranna (16), Ilmenskie Caverns

  • Ooh, I see what you mean. :)

I haven't run around Bortola much lately. There used to be several fruit trees about (some streets were about even), but bubble always seemed to be the majority throughout the whole region. I'm not sure how many may have been replaced, though.

  • I'm with Little Miss Giggles. Pre-reset I used to make lots of Awesome Stew, but got sick of running out of beans so fast and switched to making big batches of Expensive Grilled Cheese on no-no. I haven't even learned Master Chef yet this time 'round.

  • @Little Miss Giggles - When I first moved into Bortola there were ~1 fruit tree per street or something like that? Not very certain on the number. But after a while most fruit trees just got replaced by bubbles. (Someone even went into our block and replaced our fruit tree with a bubble tree...) There were as little as 3 fruit trees in the region a few days ago. Seems someone's restoring some of them now  though.
