Test Notes- 7-14 September

Test! Test! Long long test!

Here we go everyone, and we’re going ‘til sometime next Wednesday (we’ll get the time announced by the beginning of that day)

What’s happening this test?

• Conversations with objects in the game will now center your game view on the dialog. That means if there is a conversation with a chicken initiated, the ‘camera’ view of the game will focus on that, so the dialog shouldn’t get lost off the edge.

• Race teleport locations, like the yellow Game of Crowns teleport spots, will be eliminated... soon. We are phasing them out so that the race tickets will allow you to challenge specific groups of players. We will be expanding the types of tickets available over the course of the test. And, you'll still get the tickets at the dispensers.

• Tool recipes! You now will be able to make most tools yourself as long as you have the skills Tinkering 4 or 5 AND Engineering or Remote Herdkeeping, depending on which tool. Exceptions will be: Tinkertool, Focusing Orb, Beaker and Test Tube - you won’t be able to craft those... yet.

• Animal sadness thresholds have increased.  When you enter the world, there will be many animals who are sad in streets, and you will find extra Meat, Grain and Butterfly Milk out and about. No need to report them, the levels will even out. Go ahead and pick up whatever is found on the street - free stuff!

There are a couple other things we have brewing that we may be able to spring on you - but we’ll leave surprises for later!

Update: Toy vendors are now live and fencing their goodies for the Glitchling in all of us.

Update the second: New tools are available!  What tools? High-Class Hoe, the Irrigator 9000 (a high powered watering can), Super Scraper and Grand Ol' Grinder- these all can withstand 5 times the wear of the normal versions of these tools.

Where do you get these items, you say?

The Super Scraper and Grand Ol' Grinder are sold at Hardware Vendor and Alchemical Goods Vendor. In addition, Grand Ol' Grinder is also sold at the Mining Vendor.
The Irrigator 9000 and High-Class Hoe are sold at Gardening Goods Vendor, Gardening Tools Vendor.

Update the third: We are working out some kinks with these tools at the time of this writing. They may not work if you don't have the lesser version of the same type of tool. But, we'll fix!

Update the last: Fixed!

Update for new achievements! What? YES! We added new achievements to the game, over 60 of them!

  • Will the Race Ticket Dispensers still remain, kevbob? Will there be a new way to purchase GoC tickets?
Posted 15 months ago by Hburger Subscriber! | Permalink
  • thanks kevbob. Is there any new blue die hidden around for those poor glitches like me without luck on last test?
Posted 15 months ago by acreditando Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Ticket dispensers will indeed remain, I just edited that bit. :)

There may be more of them out there acreditando, but we have other plans for getting items like that to players.

  • Just discovered those other plans! (: Tiny Speck, you've made my day.

  • Cool on new toy vendors!  Great idea!  (ETA: Will they be identified on the maps?  Currently Canary Sends is a grocery vendor on the map pages.)

Bummer on the game teleports...I actually preferred that method than the tickets, but oh well...

Sweet sweetness on the animal overcrowding!!!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

And more tool recipes - cool...look forward to getting in game...

  • Hmmm today I traded with a rube and got an Irrigator 9000... no clue what it does :D I've tried watering everything... and theres no info page either :D

  • Did you try it on your home garden plots? Sounds like it might be one of the gardening bots stoot said we might be getting. ....and do you want to sell it to me? :)

  • And I would love to be able to auction cubimals. Any chance of that happening soon?

  • This game just gets better and better... thank you for killing the extra chickens and butterflies! Also thank you for the toys, truer crafting, and the gardening bot... :-)

  • The only thing I don't like about the Cubimals is that they are so darn expensive.  This means that many people won't be able to buy them and after the Reset I will be one of them.  I may not get another until next summer.  Until then, I am really having fun with them!

  • I found a piggy Cubimal in the wild... so buying them isn't the only option.

  • I found a piggy and a chicken in the wild as well ...
Posted 15 months ago by IxÆoN Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @ Brib Annie,
Don't worry, the Cubimal prices are not set in stone. Mostly because chiseling our specs in stone tablets would take this game even longer to complete.
But the other reason is we made it that way until we finish working out a better way for people (of all currantial status) to acquire 'em (Rewards? Drops? eBay auctions for real human money from my personal eBay account?)

Glad you guys are enjoyin' 'em! More toys! More toys! More toys!

  • Told you!

  • The Cubimals are sooooo CUTE! I have a butterfly and a crab. At first I thought the butterfly was a bunny, but then thought "WTH! Why would they use a rabbit, Marie? Use ur head!!  LOL"  I am just still having lag issues. Can't tell why tho... Well, besides the stampede when we came back online yesterday. LMAO   :D

  • would be nice to be able to go back to the donating part after checking  what your points are.
being able to stack partial stacks of like items would be very helpful, some thing of an auto stack button, or auto sort feature

  • Lots of new awesomeness! Except~ you took away my conveniently located grocery vendor (one street away from my house) to put in a toy vendor. Now I may have to move so I can be spoiled again!

  • Hiya! Just wanted to flag that I got me a fancy Irrigator 9000, and it is indeed not watering garden plots...though it was just fine with a nearby bean tree. :)
Posted 15 months ago by Voluptua Sneezelips Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yep, VS- we're working out the bugs in them. We'll get them straight shortly. :)

  • Hooray for a new grinder!
Posted 15 months ago by Ferbot Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Kevbob, where is this "new update" section? I can't find it.

Nevermind--it's in the original post above. Thought it was some new tab in forums or something. Ignore my silliness.

  • So, will we have to carry around both the old and new version of each tool to be able to do all possible types of work at projects? For instance, as it stands now, some project work requires a regular pick, while others require a fancy pick--so we have to carry both. If this is to be true with all the tools, that's going to take up an awful lot of precious inventory space...

  • Just got a new quest to find 7 ghosts and there's another part to it too!  Wanted to thank you for the mystery!  Off to figure out how to solve this one!  Have a fabulous weekend TS!!!!

And love the new tools.  Great addition!!!!!!and love the peeps who are leaving the old ones for new peeps!  You guys are so so nice to do that!!!!

  • Lag is pretty impossible tonite. Rebooted, still no help. So slow, I really can't play with any joy. I'll try again tomorrow--but everything was loading slow. Wardrobe hung a few times and even the forums are slightly lagging.  [macbook, chrome]
Posted 15 months ago by Mac Rapalicious Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I am tickled about toy vendors, but really irritated that the closest one replaced my nearest grocery store (in Brunnan Bafflings).  It would have made way more sense to replace a vendor that doesn't get such frequent use (alchemical goods comes to mind, at least outside the firebogs).
Posted 15 months ago by larky lion Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yeah, I've been having terrible lag (macbook, firefox) since yesterday.

  • Gaaahh am off to buy new tools  ...yay!
Posted 15 months ago by Cryztal Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thanks for the recent updates.

Like the addition of the toy vendors, and the cubimals are cute.  Will take some time to acquire them all due to the price, but that makes it a better adventure.

Same with the ghost hunt.  Only found one thus far, but now that I know they aren't just in caves, I'll keep my eyes open for them.  Love that this isn't a quest that will be quickly done by me...and that just because someone else saw a ghost in a certain location it doesn't mean I'll see one there too.  Definitely makes it more interesting.

Also glad it is a longer test...have had RL commitments, so it's nice to finally get some weekend play time.

  • I have the same question and great concern that shepardmoon has. It bums me out that i already need to carry a pick for projects when I have a perfectly good fancy pick. Am I now going to need to double up on my grinder, hoe, and watering can too? Inventory space is precious, especially when working on projects! I'm definitely a fan of tools that provide more uses, I just don't want to carry both. Feel me?
Posted 15 months ago by IxÆoN Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I have to completley agree with IxAEoN, In the point being having to double up on the amount of tools we have to carry if we are going to work on a street project, if thats the case can we
get more space for our inventory that we have to carry with us as these new items are introduced? Some of us are just pack-rats and have to have everything with us cuz you never know what might be needed.
