Can going /home please take us inside our home?

Is there anyway that /home would take us inside our house?  Possibly give us a /street option to take us in our front yard?

I dont know about anyone else, but going /home and landing on our street, to then have to go to our door and wait for yet another load screen to get where we wanted to go is super annoying.

Pretty please?

  • Yes!  I want to go /home and be where I was when I left home, the same way the "back to world" button takes me to the spot where I was when I left.  I have almost no reason to go to my home street.

  • Since /house also takes you to your home street, why not make /house take you inside your house instead?

  • AC2k you mean since /home takes you to your home street, why not make /house take you inside your house instead, I assume?

  • Oh, that would work!!!  Please?

  • Right now /house and /home do the same thing, faux.

  • yes please! it takes so long for to get INSIDE my house- takes long time to load - so being able to go straight inside the house would be niceand really helpful .
and either options would work - either let a) home means it sends me back to where i was when i left (whether that was interior or exterior) . or have B) home take me to the exterior home street and /house takes me to inside my home .

  • Now with keyboard shortcuts, how about another different key go inside your house?

  • I love the idea of differentiating between /house and /home!  It would be so nice to be able to go straight into my house, especially when I'm just running back to drop some stuff off.

  • Oh, yes this. Sometimes on a slow day this extra step can add a lot of time. Generally I don't visit my home street much at all, but it'd be nice to choose where we drop.

I even tried setting a tele point inside my house, but it defaulted back to the home street. Not cool :(

  • Some way to go directly from the world to the inside of our home would be good.

  • Cross-posted from General:

Imagine for a moment that when we typed "/home" we actually went HOME, i.e. into our houses. It would then be clearer that our home is our dwelling and our back yard. We would have to be proactive, just like everyone else, in order to go out our front door into 'our' street, i.e. the street we happen to live on, and that we have some control over.

I think the current game mechanic that drops us on our street instead of inside our home blurs the distinction between public and private, and makes people feel more proprietary over the street their home happens to be on.

If we went directly into our homes, there would be no additional question about privacy. Your home and your backyard ARE absolutely private (unless you choose to give out a key). No one will 'stumble into' your home. You won't run into any strangers there.

So that's my proposal to TS. Have the "/home" command take us into our houses, and make going to our home's public street a thing we have to choose to do, just like everyone else who might visit it. I think that, psychologically, that will go a long way to clarifying the relationship between home (private, total control) and street (public, some control).

I really hate waiting on that second load screen.

  • +1 We used to be able to save teleport locations inside our houses (at least the prairie style ones). I would really like to have that back.

  • I'm bumping this, because every time I end up on my street instead of in my home it aggravates me (mildly, but still).

Here's a refinement: you know how "back to the world" puts us back where we were when we went home (unless we were in a seam street)? Well, how about  /home putting us where we last were when we left—so it could be the street or the inside of the house, depending on where we departed from.

If that's too complicated, I'd still strongly prefer the default to be inside the home.

  • Janitch!  I've tested this!  We now can save teleport locations inside our houses!  I have one right now.

A reasonable alternative until we get a hot button for it.

  • The only problem with using the house interior as a teleportation point is that it's energy intensive, where as /home is effectively 'free.'

  • Dunno if this has been mentioned (I don't think so), but if you have more two or more floors, as long as you're on the second or third floor, when you go back /home, it won't be to your street.
I discovered this, as being punted out to my front yard every time I went /home annoyed me slightly, and I wanted a way to wind up back inside! So, I did some testing and it worked!

  • @Dahlia That's definitely NOT true for me. If I start on the 2nd or 3rd floor of my home, go to the world, and then go back home, I end up on the street every time.

  • +1 to the idea of going back to home or street depending on where we were last.

  • +1 to Pascale's suggestion to return you to where you were when you teleported out into the world.

  • I know it's a small annoyance, but it is every time I want to go home.
It's the little things that make a big difference.
