Victoria made some fantastic tables detailing various food and drink items by energy cost and gain. She even made a thorough spreadsheet of food and drink that would give you information by energy, mood, and currants, and even your gardening/croppery/animal kinship levels. These spreadsheets were based on the principle of self-reliance: grow, harvest, and make everything yourself.
As it happens, I am a lazy and impatient person who isn't willing to spend time to grow, harvest, and make everything myself. For those of you who are lazy and impatient like me, I offer you a spreadsheet of Food & Drink (for the Lazy). You can find a list of food & drink items, ingredients needed, and cost to make versus tool vendor price. This spreadsheet does not take energy cost into account at all; it's really geared more towards players who have too much energy to spare. This spreadsheet assumes that instead of growing or harvesting, you will buy ingredients whenever possible. It makes assumptions about what the value of different harvestable* items are, because why create a food item that will cost you when you can sell the raw ingredients for more? Unfortunately, you cannot simply alter the value of individual items to automatically affect the cost, but you are certainly welcome to calculate values on your own.
Anyway, whether you're lazy, impatient, or neither, I hope that you'll find it to be of some use!
*By harvestable I mean you can only get the item by harvesting, like cherries, which are valued at 8 currants. Please see the reference sheet for more information.
