Don't be surprised if the Tiny Speck staff want to have a holiday weekend themselves.
Testing occurs when it's useful for staff. If they're all taking a long weekend, it's not likely that they'll give that up just because we want to play.
@TheColdOne: In order to not look completely selfish I must disclose I thought of that myself (since this is a holiday in both the U.S. and Canada).
@Windborn: I thought of that and trust and appreciate that if the staff need to take a break, that would be fine with me. The time they put in when Glitch is open is amazing. There seem to always be staff folks around whenever the game is open.
If the past is any indicator of the future, Glitch will not be open next weekend. As far as I've been with it (since late alpha), it has never been open during a holiday weekend. I guess that means a real short test since it's opening mid-week.
I'm travelling during that time and unable to play Glitch anyway, so I'm fine with it being closed.
I realize that Tiny Speck and Glitch developers are not retail stores were every holiday is a working holiday. Yet it would be a perfect weekend to test everything with a full load of beta testers not working. Glitch I heard might go live end of September. If this is true what better time to find out if there are any major bugs. I was under the impression when the game does go live it would be 24/7, not Monday through Friday. Once the game is live non beta players would expect to be able to play every weekend and holiday, no exceptions.
I also understand the staff and their families want to enjoy holidays, it seems to be a double edged sword no matter what.
Stoot has mentioned that he's not really worried about scaling Glitch, so I'd be surprised if they planned on doing any kind of stress testing this weekend. A federal holiday really is a poor day to decide to do a stress test, it'd be expensive and it'd annoy your employees.
That being said, I would LOVE for Glitch to be open this coming weekend. I'd say I'd pay for it, but I already bought a Molybdenum subscription. ($1.71/wk is a steal!) ;-)
It seems like they would want to take their vacations DURING tests, since apparently the breaks between tests are when they go through all of the feedback and fix bugs (as well as update features). So the main staff can go away to Florida that weekend while we all play Glitch, then come back rested the next week and get back to fixin' stuff!
The folks at TS "labor" hard. As much as I would love to play Glitch all weekend, I think they have earned a well-deserved Labor Day holiday weekend off.
Those who delight in posting "off topic" might as well give up. We Glitcherini are an independent group and if we feel like posting when the Spirit moves us, we are damn well going to post here. This is highly relevant to the game because we now plan our days around whether or not the game is up.
Some people need to stop trying to tell others what to do. A game of Giant Imagination has no fetters, human or physical...
Not having the game teaches patience and dexterity. Can you hit reload again and wait at least 6 hours? Wishing doesn't always make it so but I know when I do hit reload and see the game loading...this is bliss.
You are very noble , Djoe6897, to see that you might have jumped too quickly to judge a thread.
Sometimes amazing responses come from a subject which might not at first seem to be pertinent.
Stoot isn't worried about scaling Glitch, because Cal Henderson is the VP of Engineering. He basically wrote the book on scaling applications like Glitch!
I was in some serious Glitch withdrawal this weekend while hiding from the storm... without Glitch to keep me busy all day, my wallet decided to lose some weight online.
@Djoe6897: Thanks for letting me (us?) know that you've changed your mind. I thought it was on-topic but if others had agreed with you, I would have edited it and moved it (I'm new to posting in these parts).
Well, I actually think you're right now but I'm wondering myself how far these categories go. I think it would be nice to have something set in dullite saying: On-Topic= and Off-Topic=. Maybe in the future?
Stoot said several weeks ago Topics that don't have to do specifically with Glitch will be moved to Off Topic from this point on (along with new group announcements and other stuff not of "General" interest).
There's no way they can make a list of every single topic that anyone might ever post, and sort them into 'on topic' and 'off topic'
bugeye has a good point, is he going to be an ex but is current right now and doesn't know he is going to be an ex. Or, was he an ex but returned to your life so is now current, but you have no hope for it to remain that way therefore he will again become your ex. Very mysterious, I like it.
I assume "current ex" is the most recent ex that is in fact currently an ex but has the potential for being an ex-ex as in a current on. As opposed to a past ex who is in fact now a current on or possibly the ex before the current ex therefore becoming an ex once removed. Correct?
Lol we have been together for six years with one major break up last year, and just recently had another. We would be celebrating 6 years together on labor day, but we are broken up right now. However,.he decided to come visit me for labor day, and he might have something up his sleeve. Trying not to make any assumptions though cause I thought he was gonna do something big for my bday but didn't even get me a present or take me out or anything, and I don't want to be disappointed again
I have an idea! Let's put our Glitchy minds together, grab our focus orbs and focus our meditation on Glitch staying open through the Labor Day holiday weekend, woohoo!
It is NOT going to stay open through Labor Day weekend. The devs need their rest and relaxation. We are SO lucky it will open tomorrow. That is absolutely fabulous. I am preparing by doing cooking in advance and making a big sign, " Do Not Disturb. Busy Playing Glitch."
We've just posted our test dates for this week as a hot topic, so I'm closing this thread. We'll be open from tomorrow, Aug 31st through mid-day Saturday, Sept 3rd. So, part of the Holiday for Glitch -- and part for our families. Can't wait to see you all in the game.
