It's not hard, just most people probably already have the house they want now. There are less new players coming aboard because of the upcoming revamp and ahh...if you're that desperate to give away coin I'll take it..no questions asked ;) lol p.s When I first started Glitch I didn't pay any attention to the forums. All the newbies I help with coin and housing etc I find in game. They normally look a little lost...
Also, your original post was only made just over an hour ago. That's not a lot of time for someone to respond. Have faith and let a few hours go by. Bump if you want; either way, someone may take you up on it. If you're looking for a more instant response, why not try making your generous offer in global chat?
I agree with Voluptua; you can always find newbies lurking in Global and one of them is bound to want to take you up on your offer, which IS very kind and generous of you. :D
Hi, I am very new to this game, and I think it will be a lot of fun. I would like to take up on your extremely kind offer, because my inventory is full and I have no where to put down my load. I'm fine with one of the cheaper houses too, because I'm just very new and I don't want to take advantage of your offer. Thank you! Have a nice day.
"For me, to be a newbie and have a 50k house dropped on me would be a real drag. It would take away the fun of working toward a goal."
I agree with that too, and that goes for other major giveaways, too. I know that there are whole groups out there of higher-level glitchen whose mission is to bestow all kinds of expensive freebies upon new players. Generous though that is, it often takes away from the newbies' fun of earning those high-ticket items themselves. When I was but a wee glitch back in November, I don't think I would have enjoyed getting handouts or discovering a bunch of expensive items lying on the ground. It's been fun to craft/cook/tincture/etc. those things myself.
I think it reveals something about Glitch. After a bit of time in the game there's nothing to buy, no reason to accumulate things, no more learning, nothing to do. The fun part is the early learning/struggling part, the latter part is pointless so people attempt to provide meaning by giving things away, which shortens the fun time for the recipient. I hope the upcoming game changes address this.
For what it's worth, here's my story.. I started early in the first beta. Bought a cottage in GM. Like everyone I was laboring away to earn currents, learn, level up, etc. I had been befriended and helped by many of the Alpha's and when the Alokol houses were first released I had about 10k saved up.
Wow! I really wanted one as my little cottage had become stuffed to overflowing with "stuff". Unfortunately, before I could get organized and as I watched so many of my friends join it the crazy rush to buy those 50k houses, I felt very sad about missing the opportunity to move along with my friends.
BUT! There were some 30k's left and two very kind glitch friends got together and gave me the currents to buy one and came to help me move my stuff. It meant a great deal to me to be cared about like that. Once I had collected enough currents to pay them back, they refused to accept them back and just said "pay it forward". So that is what I did.
These days, 20k seems like nothing to me and I have enjoyed the opportunity to be able to help others financially in one way or another. And I always tell them the same thing I was told.. just pay it forward. This gives me pleasure.
Anyway, I totally disagree with the idea that it's some kind of drag or what ever to "drop" an expensive house on a Newbie. If I should choose to do so, who can sit in judgement as to the rightness or not of such a choice? We have to do the work to progress in the game regardless of the house we own.
Also, Peachesan didn't say that they were particularly looking for a newbie to help or that they were looking to drop any particular amount of currents. They were just looking to help a Glitch and to me that is commendable and I hope there will always be Glitches helping Glitches.
The OP's situation is quite different from the one you describe of your own tortured moments without a 50k house. You, unlike the player that OP is seeking, were seeking out assistance from your own friends to be with your own friends. You ASKED for help.
This is a case of an anonymous donor seeking out an anonymous do-nee.
Quite a different circumstance.
I was not "sitting in judgement" and not arguing "rightness". You, deary, have introduced both of those concepts, and seem to be handing out a large dose in the process.
Some people, like yourself, prefer to get assistance. Some prefer to make it own their own. That's the point.
a 50k is just stupid to give to a newbie, it gives them nothing to work towards. its WAY too much house for someone who doesnt even have mining 3 or ak 4 yet.
i gave someone some gems/goodies that let them get a house (maybe a 3 or 5k place) and they enjoyed that.
half a dozen low level folks could get a place for 50,000 currants - maybe more folks than that.
my name is elf, but no one understands that but the few friends I keep on here... ;-)
I would like to add that I have also helped folks get into their 50k houses, but that was after they were really established on Glitch and could handle that much house (and needed the room).
They were also nice enough to pay me back, not that I needed it but it gave them something to do and at times I'd even forgotten that I loaned them the cash to get a house.
Running Man, Your assumptions and accusations regarding my gameplay are specious and quite unkind imho. However, I am happy being who I am in the game and in rl and feel no need to defend myself. I have nothing else to say. Have a nice day.
