Home Improvement Ideas

There are a few things that bug me about buying a new home or moving to a different one:

1) When one moves all of their animals, trees, gardens is left at the house and is unretrievable once the house is sold. Our items should come with us.

2) There should be options to update the size of the backyard and cabinet(by use of currants or something similar to building a new street) if one feels the home is getting cramped.

3) Custom interior designs :D

  • The problem with #1 is that if you don't have the space to hold the items, how are they going to come with you?
One option is that if you buy a new house then the old one should be traded (deduction in cost of new one) and the items teleported to the cabinet.
Cabinets should also hold infinite items.
If they don't want to make cabinets hold infinite items then the items can just be in a pile in the middle of the house.
The animals can't come with you but they should be set free or their value also deducted from the price of the new house. Their value should be fairly low, though.

  • I'd also really like the ability to expand and upgrade a house.

One of my only frustrations with the game is dealing with inventory. I have many bags, but the one small cabinet in my house doesn't really help much. Thus, things are strewn on the floor, which isn't really inventory management so much as throwing up my hands.

An upgrade-able / expandable house with more general storage would be awesome! One with skill-specific areas would be even awesome-er!

    Areas I'd love to see:

    - a kitchen with a Refrigerator & Pantry for Produce/Groceries items, a fruit bowl and a spice rack, plus a counter to hold the board, blender, shaker, pot, pan, sandwich press, etc.
    - a Liquor Cabinet / Bar
    - a Garden Shed
    - a Barn (for animal husbandry items/produce)
    - a Basement Laboratory (for alchemy & metalworking)

I will spend the extra currants for duplicate equipment just to have the setup available and storage of raw materials.

  • In the real world, most people use basements to "manage" (by which I really mean "ignore") the thousands of items that they have that they can't be bothered with on a day to day basis. Maybe we need something like that?

  • I agree. I would actually love to see upgrade/customization options for a house.

There should also be a way to buy (or create) furniture which can make a house useful for the character (eg, wall decor for increasing mood, or a bed for recharging energy, etc) so that real estate can function beyond being an inventory storage.

Yuh, I do wish the cabinets were able to store more items. I haven't tried it yet, but I think you may be able to organize and add more storage capacity to the cabinets by using bags. Store items in a 16-slot bag, then store the bag in the cabinet. I'll probably try the theory in the next test.

I haven't moved yet since I brought my house, so I can't really comment on what happens when you purchase a new home. Seems like I have to carry all my things in my inventory, say goodbye to my piggies and trees when I do. And I also agree that the re-sale value of the house should be adjusted for whatever will be left when one goes. For example, a house with a healthy tree should reflect a higher value than one without a tree planted.

Besides, upgrade options for the glitch's house would give players additional reason to save up currants. Creating furniture can also be a skill for higher level players, who can sell these to lower level players.

  • Glitch Moving Service?

  • Bags don't work, sorry.

We should get a service. The best substitute so far is getting a bunch of friends then giving them a pizza later. (works in RL too)
