I spoke to SlimeNose in game shortly after his post, he told me then it has to do with dirt and having Soil Appreciation V. Pretty much the only available action that isn't used to death in that regard is digging tree patches although before there were dirt piles digging tree patches was all the rage and the only way to get dirt. Perhaps SB-1 as a drop from tree patches was added shortly after dirt piles?
What he said on this forum seems to describe smiling at a chick quite well though. The top 10 actions for a chick are all feeding (it takes 10 feeds with grain to grow).
If anyone wants to try a mass digging operation we could increase our odds that way, as digging tree patches works similarly to digging peat/scraping barnacles.
So, after a lot of work, I have to ask the Dev's directly here, can we PLEASE have forum confirmation, no riddles, that there is a chance of getting an SB-1 in the game through some action?
I really don't want to be wasting my time doing things if there is no sense to doing it. So please, just some sort of definitive answer would be wonderful.
I can't say that bumping a post is really spamming the forums there, windborn. By contrast, if someone were to make a post once a day about some random topic, that is the same amount of posts. Get it?
Kiman, I didnt post more detailed information because I don't want EVERYONE spamming trying to get the block...... so I would appreciated if next time you IM me, dont plaster it on the forums. unless you ask to quote me first. The whole point of the SB-1 block is it's exclusivity, not that everyone knows how to get it, and it becomes a more common block than it is.
not sure it makes a difference which staffer says what... but more recently, a staffer said that a person could hypothetically get the sb1 on their first day of playing.
has anybody managed to figure it out yet? i think there are theories that it relates to empty patches somehow, but haven't heard of anybody cracking the code as of yet.
Ha. First it was, "you need Soil Appreciation V." Now it's "you can hypothetically get it on your first day."
It's impossible to get Soil Appreciation V on your first day. If you add it up, the total time comes to more than 24 hours. One of these sources is not telling the truth, or is not telling the truth in a straightforward way.
Assuming the people posting in this thread are accurately reporting what SB-1 holders are saying, it would appear the SB-1 holders have a vested interest in giving out incorrect information about it all. This makes sense: the value of the item inheres in its rarity. If indeed it does drop from a game action, what better way to keep it rare than to send people on wild goose chases over it?
Edited to add:
However, I do find it intriguing that Slimenose the Erst deleted the information she or he had originally posted about it. One can only wonder if this means the information was accurate. Perhaps Slimenose the Erst now has an SB-1 happily in hand!
Edited AGAIN to add:
A friend just pointed out you could get Soil Appreciation V on your first day by spending favor to speed up learning. Bah, so much for that argument. Still, the thing about the deleted information continues to be ... interesting.
Here's my guess: It could be a different action for every player. You know how we each have different locations for our DNA spots? What if we're each secretly assigned a different action that produces an SB-1 after X number of repetitions?
Whatever the solution is, if the chances are set at say 1 in 1,000,000 then it's just difficult to stumble upon or verify any hints, clues, leads etc. Even if someone does get it and tell the solution to everyone, 1 in a million chance would not help others confirm the solution.
Well I can say this much, if I discover what the secret to this SB-1 is, I can safely say I will spread the information to all, I want people to get the block. As it stands, all the people who have grouped to hunt for it have come up with nothing so far.
has anybody confirmed that you actually *need* SAV? the post mentioning it seems to say that it involves SAV, as in having the skill would help your odds but is not strictly necessary.
If I do find the secret to SB-1, I'm not going to just post it in the forums; but I would share it with others who do a little questing first. This seems like the kind of thing you should have to either figure out for yourself or go to the mountaintop and receive three cryptic hints from the soothsayer there. An opportunity to do some in-game quest creation!
Araldia has said that there is a (unspecified) action that SHOULD drop it, IE- according to what she can see the game is set up for it to drop... BUT she won't give more information than that.
