Firefly Badges (A helpful hint)

I completed all badges within an hour or two.

I brought a FULL firefly jar to a BIG swarm, and I was able to just open the jar (releasing the fireflies that were in there) and collect at the same time.

There were enough of them to just sit there and open and close the same jar the whole time. So much easier.

I'm sure lots of you know this, but I thought I'd post it for those who didn't

  • Awesome.
Are you able to open multiple jars at once?

  • I had hoped this would work, but never sat there and did it long enough to know for sure. Good to know!

  • Never tried multiple jars at once. I just kept using the one jar. It goes by fairly quickly when you get 7 fireflies in the jar almost instantly.  And I RARELY got anything under 7 :)

  • You are lucky people are doing lots of other stuff and fireflies are not used for blocks anymore.
Some time ago it was not as easy to find a big swarm as it is now. I see huge swarms all the time now I never saw when I was working on the badges.
    Congrats though!

  • I am amazed!  When I do that the flies clump up and won't go back in the jar.  I then end up with less than 7 in the jar.  I have done it numerous times and never got 7 in the jar let alone 7 in it multiple times.  You are very lucky!

  • I'm pretty sure you can only have one jar open at a time - must test it next time.

  • The trouble with this is that you'll still need all those fireflies for the crystal making badge (although you can buy them if you have the currants).

  • Yeah, I did this as well after I got my last plain crystals badge. I hope you have gotten yours as well, otherwise you'll need to keep on catching fireflies or you'll have to buy a ton of them..

  • Ya, if you are going for crystal badge, then you are out of luck! LOL

  • It has been so much easier to find ripe swarms now that everyone is busy doing other things.  I have been filling jar after jar and stashing them away.  I think I will fill my new house with fireflies after the jump. :)

  • As Zoi points out, this is a great shortcut to make the extra firefly jars needed to get you from the top crystal making achievement (251) to the top firefly collecting achievement (501). Don't use it to for more than 250 jars or you'll be kicking yourself when you have to go back & collect more jars in order to get the crystal making achievements.

As fireflies won't immediately return to a jar they've just been released from (releasing a jar of 6 fireflies into a swarm of 6 can't give you a full jar on that opening - even though there's then a swarm of 12), you need to start with a full jar and a swarm with more than 7 fireflies. Then each time you open the jar, the 7 in the jar go out and another 7 from the swarm come in. Rinse & repeat.
