Monument/Wonder Project

Street projects are nice and all, but imo they are too short and lacks impact on the game world other than opening a new (all too similar) street which you probably will only visit once in a while anyway.

I'm proposing a new kind of project which dwarfs street project in terms of scale and impact on the game world. Namely the Monument/Wonder Projects. These projects will require considerably more resources and work than a typical street project to complete. It will also covers a wide range of resources and work type. Special unique requirements can also be thrown in. I'm expecting at least thousands of Glitchen contributing on a single project (of course, you need to think of the lag problem...). The result will be a unique monument/wonder perhaps akin to Jethimadh Tower. And whereas a street project opens a single street, a monument/wonder project will opens up an entire unique region/area. This monument/wonder region could have special properties, for example more effective meditating in the area, etc. The rewards for those who contribute will also be greater and perhaps give special bonuses to the top contributors. Like double yield mining for the first X picks per day for the top X contributors for completing the Monument of Zille or something like that.

This idea may be hard to implement but for me personally it's a very exciting prospect. It also enables player to be more involved in shaping the world of Ur. Imagine building a Pyramid like structure with your fellow Glitchen in Ur.

  • I like this a lot. It should take a long time and many many Glitchen to complete. Maybe a statue to a Giant or a bridge between two regions. Oooo. . . a bridge or tunnel would be fun. When you cross, you would have to make sure you had enough energy to get safely across - there could be warning signs "no resources for next 53 Glitchometers"

  • I've been hoping for any kind of more interesting and complex building projects.  There should definitely be mechanisms in place to make sure the project can't be completed without a large variety of skills used, and Glitchen of all different levels participating.  It would be nice if such projects involved skills and puzzles for the users different from the current range.  At the very least crafting a set of recipes, powders, alloys, or blocks that are different from the routine ones, and have to be figured out before they can be made.

    I like the idea of the completed project having different characteristics from the general street areas.  So far the Ancestral Lands, the Tower and the Seam streets are the only places with rather different features from the majority of the world.

  • How about once there are 12 "lands" each shrine starts being able to be built like a street and donated towards, in such a way that a GRAND SHRINE, one that acts as always hallowed  can be built on that land to a giant...

    until such time as it is damaged by a rook or something, and then all giants without a land are back in competition for the land to claim it again.
