What to do? Ideas wanted.

With all the new releases and changes, Glitch has no doubt become more interesting, but I seem to have lost a lot of friends. My groups are mostly languishing and with Glitchen taking advantage of the resource routes, there just don't seem to be the same random interactions anymore. My house is expanded as large as I want it, and decorated as well (ran out of credits).

So I am looking for ideas of things to do. This could be solo or group based activities. Help me to IMaGine up some cool ideas!

  • -place random items and notes along the resource routes or out in Ur
-find hidden spots if you haven't yet
-hold a forum raffle or giveaway
-announce in global that the first person to find you gets (thing). Give clues to your location.
-see how many of a certain resource you can collect in a certain amount of time
-try to get super-pooped eating lots of food
-try to max img earned per game day by doing a certain thing a lot (i.e. you can only get so much img per game day making flour. (or at least I know it worked that way with exp))

  • Hiya Byte Crook,

*hugs* Sorry to hear that you've lost a lot of friends. I don't normally do very much self- promotion but our group, Civility, is very active- in chat channel, in parties (had Lucidess' 60th party last night and will have a memorial day party tomorrow sometime thanks to Jack London), and most of all in helping each other and others. So if this appeals, give me a shout somewhere and even if it doesn't, have a lovely day.

    *hugs* and Cheers,

  • Same thing happened to me, don't worry :( The funnest thing you can do, and easiest for making friends, is to hold a free feast. I usually go in Oktyabrya and lay out a ton of food on one of the platforms, and I go down my friend list and tell people, so that's a way you can keep in contact with your old friends. In addition, I post it to Global. I have never once had a person steal everything, and even if someone does, there will be plenty of nice people at the feast to replenish the feast :) Try it :)

  • You can IM me for a levitation challenge anytime you like! It's really the only ability you need in this game to have a good time :D.

  • I know how you feel. My street felt really lonely and I missed having neighbors so I joined a resource route. I've also started walking around Ur a lot when I'm bore and try to find new things I haven't seen before. I've met a few people that way. It's always fun.
Which gives me an idea... Organize a sightseeing tour through Ur. That would be fun.

  • Booooo to the resource routes.  Booooo to anything that reduces the value of being out in the world.

Yes, I will give in and use them.  >.>

  • I think we should start a group (edit: got bored, started one - if you're interested, please sign up!) that deals with creating collective role playing esque type of games.

Let me explain: A group that is dedicated to developing an in-game scenario with certain players taking the roles with pre-defined outcomes, while players (who are more free-play) try to figure stuff out. This could be the stereotypical "whodunnit" type of thing, or something more involved and glitch-like.

The benefit is that it would require the participation of a number of players in order to set up, plus whoever wanted to play through the scenario.

  • Today I spent some time doing a few solo things like:
    - Maxing all the slots in my spice rack
    - Maxing all the compounds in my Alchemy kit.
    - Refilling my three element bags to the max
(while solo, they required me to go out into Ur to collect additional resources since I've not tried the resource routes yet)

    Things still to do:
    - Go visit all the streets in Ur to get those first time qurazy quoins
    - Focus enough to earn those 100 quoin daily badges
    - Earn the badge for making all the recipes.

Other things you can do, if you've not done them:
    - Find all your DNA
    - Find all your ghosts

I'm sort of prepping too for figuring out what I want to start to specialize in...once we go live again, there may be options for more marketing of goods...so, do I want to make food/drinks, or tools, or furniture, or essences and potions?...still haven't decided which I find to be the most fun yet.

Also, I have a personal goal of having 500K currants (don't know why yet since there really isn't that much to spend them on right now), before I start buying cubimals.  I haven't gotten into the cubimal addition yet, but I would eventually like to own them all either through finding them in Ur, or purchasing them myself.

Some people try to get all the badges/achievements too.

Others collect specific things like icons, emblems, cubimals, crabphone headphones, rare items, etc. Their goals in game are determined by their drive for collecting.

Some people also like to pick a street and decorated it with low value items.  I've seen some incredibly awesome street art...but take a picture to remember it, since there are others that like to take those things as soon as you are done.

There is also the sandbox group if you want some in game quests developed by some of the players...

  • Hey wow! Thanks for all the great responses everyone! I'll be taking a crack at some of them. I like these changes that's been going on, but I do feel a little sad that so many people seem to have dropped out. Then again, I did too for awhile, so hopefully they'll be back. Also hoping that Ur will become more populated once they open up for new players!

Yeah I've been some solo hikes around Ur, but it gets a bit stale holding one button down all the time. I like the suggestion of the walking tour group Sparrow!

Bachjess: Hey yeah I saw that forum post of your group. Send me an invite! It looks like the kind of social party that I am looking for. :)

Xev: Send me an invite! I like the idea of that group.

b3achy: Yeah I know about the sandbox group, but it feels like no one's really been posting new things there lately either. :(

Thanks also diaveborn, Moehr (great name btw!) and Morthis.

  • I love that new publication, the Dead of Ur (I think that's the title) ... They've been using the camera tool to make a zombie comic. It's fab. I've been kind of thinking of making another comic.. Maybe Midsummer Nights Dream, or Macbeth, or Gilgamesh... It would be fun to do it as a group, find the best locations, have costumes, Post the pictures as a serial, one scene/ or act at a time... I'd be willing to redecorate my house too for indoor scenes. Maybe I'll start a group.. What to do? :)
