Glitch families

I have a question. Are there any plans to allow us to form families in glitch? If so, I don't think it'd have to take a traditional structure, which could be un-glitch like. The main reason I ask, is that "family" could enable house sharing and and new and novel types of interaction. Not to sound too hippy, but one could form a commune under the same system, if it were open enough. So, are there any plans for anything like this?

  • It has been announced that at some point we will have the option of Group homes.

  • That was a much quicker answer than I expected!!! Thanks!! Do you know how this will be done? Will it go through the groups?

  • Devs have said that they will be implementing group lodges or other gathering places.  Everything that has been said is about groups.

But, you can create your own private group, which no one else can see and only invite people whom you would like to share a structure with.  Make up your own rules, have your own chat channel.  It's all the same.

  • I has heard about the group lodges but didn't know what they were to do. This is different from house sharing?

  • No one knows what group structures might be.  Currently there is no way to share a house.  TS doesn't usually give out information about things that have not yet been implemented in-game.

You are free to post your ideas in the Ideas forum, which is where most speculation and discussion of what people hope/want/wish for occurs.  The reality is that there are currently no methods for more than one character to enter a house unless the house owner is on=line and wishes to let them enter.

  • What, and get bitched at for posting more uninformed ideas?

  • Purple Haze, just saying hello neighbor! We live nearby (sorry I'm off topic)

  • @Spellbound Howdy!!!! Did you join the Bortola Homeowner's Association?

  • @Purple Haze - People bitched you out for putting in ideas? The cads. That's the point of the idea forum - to begin an idea. It doesn't have to be a complete or coherent one yet.

  • @Fokian more or less, I got "talked straight" for putting in ideas that had already been tried, were already in the works, that people didn't think fit on the right thread, or if none of the above, then told to submit ideas that would benefit the community instead of ones everyone hates. So, honestly, I am not going to post a damn thing in the Idea forum unless I think it is definitely an idea, and not a rambling discussion.

  • Yeah, I got reamed by a certain crusty individual in this thread, too.
Keep posting what you hope/want/wish, Purple Haze.
Imho, I doesn't matter a whole huge amount where you post-the devs read everything.
Also, the general forum gets a whole lot more traffic than the others.

  • @serfer0 I love you, will you marry me?

  • Well, that is just mean.  Nobody can read every thread or every reply in each thread.  I have quit trying to read everything.  If I have an opinion or something to contribute I will post it.  Only rude, insensitive people or overly obsessive people will put you down for doing that  To the nuts who feel the necessity to say mean things to total strangers who are usually well meaning, I say "Time Out" and find another hobby.  Such behavior is not needed anywhere.

  • And live with you in your Glitch commune!
    Yes! A thousand times yes!

  • Yay! We can raise lots and lots of piggies together

  • @Purple Haze & @Serfer0 - y'all are both silly! Don't let the crustaceans get you down. It says right on the home page that ALL ideas are welcome in the forum, so if people don't like your ideas, they can take 'em and fold 'em into pointy little corners and shove 'em somewhere.

  • Wha?! And make the devs search through piles of repetitive and off-topic rubbish? Well I never! Giants forbid that an unpopular idea accidentally gets implemented by the devs simply because people were being too nice to protest it

  • Actually, I hate posting in the Ideas forum, and I especially hate being told to do so, because hardly ANYONE ever responds. If you want to be ignored and have your idea die in the desert sun, post it in the Ideas forum. Otherwise, you might as well post it here. Even though, on paper, ideas should go on the ideas forum, but people really aren't supportive there. They're just absent, for the most part.

  • At first I read raise a bunch of hippies together, lol, but piggies oh ok.  I'd rather you raised a bunch of hippies.   :)

I had an overnight guest, would have loved to make it roommates but couldn't get a duplicate key to house and she couldn't raise any crops.  It was really even more fun than just having a house.

  • @Cerulean, I think you are right, and I have my opinions as to why it has ended up being that way.

To everyone who wants to be such sticklers about "staying on topic"...  I think open discussions are way more fun and interesting and much more likely to lead to novel interaction and ideas. This is a general discussion area and this is a general discussion.

  • @xoxJulie  I would love to be able to argue with someone over "who let the pigs in", why there's dirt all over the floor, or why my apples aren't where i left them!!! lol

  • I love the idea of sharing a pad with someone. Especially if we could split the cost of a place, you know. I do wonder how someone would get out of such an arrangement though. Where would you put the "move out" button or option?
Posted 18 months ago by Liridona Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I guess you could have move out, where sell house would be.. and also a kick out button... but the other would have to agree. If you don't both agree who gets the house, then it's sold and the money split? That would suck, but so does a divorce in RL LOL. You could have a "primary" owner and the other person as a live-in.. if the house wasn't bought together.. lol
