Conspicuous consumption

We need things to spend currants on. Auctions are generally dead because there's very little value to having extra currants, so no incentive for people to put items up. New Streets chat has people putting items up if they can't travel fast enough, but it's less preferred since you only get a few (thousand) currants while the purchaser gets mood, energy, xp, cash rebate and (maybe) a trophy piece.

I'm hoarding ore since I get enough currants out of leveling and projects (and the crab) and I can use ore for powder, projects, or something to be determined. I only use currants for seeds, groceries, and new tinkertools (need to get around to tinkering 3). It would be great if there were something to spend my money on.

  • I don't really know what you mean by "auctions are generally dead" because as far as I can tell, there's consistently plenty of things up. But I do agree with the general idea of the post ;)

  • I have 237,000 currents (I had 30,000 more near end of last test but I managed to spend 30 grand)  and it's burning a hole in my pocket! I spend, spend, spend and it still seems to grow. I do a lot of mining and sell most of the metal rocks and beryl and a good bit of the sparkly and dullite and it really adds up. I rarely sell my gems, they go to the Shriines but my currents still seem to increase quickly.
I'd love it if they were to have huge, fancy and roomy houses with a very high price tag, say like at least 100,000 currents and up. :D

  • Cupcake maybe you're just buying everything before I look for it :D

Overall the economy really needs lots of work, and I know that the devs realise this. EVE has everything stocked by players, from the most common item to the rarest except for a few ultra rare or one of a kind items that are unavailable or only through private sale.

When I was looking at auctions, the most common things were very high priced (cherries) and things that would be useful to purchase outside of projects were unavailable (music blocks, for example). Even things like tools were unavailable.
