Tool Wearbar for auctioned goods

I just tried to set up an auction for one of my kitchen tools (knife and board).

There's a serious problem:  It did not show me how much wear the tool had.  How can I set a price if I have no way of knowing what condition it's in?

The auctions themselves allow you to see the wearbar under the item being auctioned.  But the person putting them up for auction cannot see that either in their inventory or when setting up the auction.

If the auction is going to show the price based on units of wear, the person auctioning needs to know how to fairly price it.

  • Hi Windborn,

Sorry about that - there were a few teething troubles with some of our tools which have a chance of breaking, but don't usually display wear (the kitchen tools, basically).

These tools are no longer showing wear in the auction listings, which is how it should be, for now at least.

  • The thing that makes me giggle the most about the new auction wear indicators (which are beyond awesome by the way)...

The auctions contain some broken tools which were put up there BEFORE the changes were implemented. They were listed at normal item prices because they used to be (but aren't any more) indistinguishable from new items. Now we can spot the Glitches who were trying to pull a scam :-D

  • I don't understand why you wouldn't want kitchen tools to show wear.  What is the big deal?  The less information kept hidden, the better.

  • +1 Lara - Thanks Devs for the wear stats! You guys are brilliant! :D

    Now I can
    a) no longer feel guilty about selling broken tools on auction
    b) no longer worry about whether I'm buying a broken tool for full price
    c) make $$ with my tinkering skillz :D

    AWESOME!

  • @Hameigh

Kitchen tools don't work the same way the other tools do. With normal tools, they wear down with each use until they run out of "life." Kitchen tools have a small chance to break every time you use them, but they don't have a fixed amount of "life." With kitchen tools, it's all or nothing every time you craft.

  • Ahh thanks for explaining.  I haven't used any kitchen tools yet since I have no cooking skills.

  • if its "all or nothing every time you craft" then why do they have invisible wear bars?
