Seed creation is too time consuming

When creating seeds from pigs you have to give 3 at a time.  If you want to create a lot of seeds this is a very tedious process, then you have to pick them all up, examine all of them, and stack them 1 by 1.  You should really make this process less tedious.  I have been helping a friend for about 1 hour and I am done.  I have told him never to ask for my help again.  I will cook to his hearts content but this is mundane to the extreme.

  • It's easier to stack if try to feed the piggy in the same spot and examine all the plop on the ground.  That'll auto stack the seeds so you can pick up the whole stack from the floor.  But yes, I agree.  It's way too tedious.  And I've accidentally overfed my piggies way too many times because of my quick fingers.

  • Yes, it would be nice to feed my pigs 12 veggies and get 4 seeds all at once, instead of doing it the way it is now.  I agree.

  • Yes, this could really stand to be improved.  I'm so sick of feeding piggies I'm buying seed from the gardening vendors now.

  • Agreed.  I would like the pigs (and batterflies too for that matter) to give a proportional return when feeding.  For example, if 3 vegetables produces 1 seed bag (or guano, for batterflies) then 300 should produce 100 seed bags.  The current process is FAR too time consuming to be profitable, and it's WAY too easy to accidentally feed an animal your entire stock and get virtually nothing in return!

  • Totally agree.

  • Agreed. I've been buying seeds, as well, just for the simplicity of doing so.

  • Me too. Totally agree.

  • Yep, most tedious part of the game, started bulk buying seeds as soon as I had a fair bit of cash.

  • I understand the sentiments in this thread and I have also been a victim of piggy 'omnivore' behavior, but I think the difficulty is the payoff versus buying seeds.

    Consider:

    3 Potatoes (Produce Vendor) = 21 currants
    1 Potato Seed (Gardening Vendor)= 40 currants

If everyone could make seeds easily with piggy plop, then what use would use the Gardening Vendor be?

Most things can be raised/grown/crafted or bought. But it gives us choices. You can easily get meat from the feral pigs, but many of us choose to raise our own pigs, and large quantities are sold at auction. Several ways of getting the same item.

Making something easier to produce yourself doesn't mean some people won't buy it too. Even seeds can be bought at auction (at elevated prices) as well as Gardening Vendors.

And if you were right that there would no longer be a use for Gardening Vendors, well so what? It's not like a real person being made redundant. Either have nothing in it's place, another of the current sorts of vendors, or a new type of vendor completely (spice perhaps or clothing?)

  • PS. My choice would be to fill the feeders with crops and have to 'muck out'  to collect the plops and then the seeds. Not too easy, or there wouldn't be a game, but not as tedious as now which takes the fun out the game

If you don't clean up your pigs sicken and die

  • Mucking out my pig pen would end up being a lot of clicks, and I suspect in time I would grow to hate it as much as I hate feeding crops through piggies, but I love the idea. Very evocative!

  • The process for creating seeds (and guano) is very fun and interesting, especially for low level players, but it's not scalable.  So higher level players are blocked from making profit (and consequently helping lower level players) with the process.  I shouldn't have to repeat the same mundane process over 100 times just so that I can turn a crop back into seeds! Not to mention the fact that if you slip up while trying to do it too fast, the pig eats everything you have left and you get nothing else!  So frustrating!

  • Or just have the chickens perform the muck out function.
Thereby forcing you to keep some chickens and reduce your overall animal capacity.

  • Damn chickens. It's about time they started pulling their own weight around here.
