More intrusive death warnings for beginners

My first death was completely unexpected to me, and I believe a few others have had a similar experience. I think for newbs, say under level 5, the warnings upon nearing death should be more intrusive, like your health meter yelling at you in a little speech bubble.

  • agreed. when attempting the sno cone quest, I stopped in the Wintry Place and left the computer for a moment or too...when I returned, I was unexpectedly in Hell One. definitely more intrusive warnings for dying, and maybe some kinda signpost in the Wintry Place explaining the situation?

  • Well... It may seem masochistic but I liked the unexpected feeling of my first death. For now, it's the only traumatic event of the game and after the first shock, you're easily back in the game.
In fact... I wouldn't have thought we could die before it happened, and I appreciated the surprise.

It's just my point of view though... ^^

  • The death thing is kinda weird for me. I have had a few deaths in my life in the past few months although they have not been directly related to me. It made me uncomfortable to see the flowers and read the bubble that said "So+so died here at such n such time". Maybe we could just be teleported to an infirmary or something.

  • I think death itself is enough of a warning. Why make a Hell if your only going to be warned about it and avoid it? The whole point I think is the shock of it. I NEED to do it again as i'm starting to feel phobic about it lol :)

  • I'm actually looking forward to dying now... I didn't get the chance to on my first run around. You know, to get it out of the way :D

  • Hell has a separate set of achievements... so dieing is not actually a bad thing, just a different part of the world. Personally, Hell scares me less than the Rook Quest did. I'll take a note to get something more about Hell in the Wiki.

  • I actually regarded resurrection as another quest.
But like others I suddenly died, and I don't know if I was penalised for dying, for example, reduced xp points etc.

  • You lose almost all mood and energy vbut you actually get XP

  • @Travinara - same. the rook quest was terrifying :)

@snygyst - it's actually impossible to lose XP points, I'm pretty sure, by the way.

  • You pretty much have to have lost all your mood and energy to die anyway so coming back in that state isnt a serious penalty.
@sc803 You wanna see Hell? Find yerself some No-No Powder! ;) (come find me, I'll hook ya up. First one's free ;)

  • BTW, last time I died, I came back Super Pooped. I dunno if it was a ressurection hangover from the crazy 2-day nono binge or just a new death feature but i ccouldnt regain energy in anyway until the start of a new day. I could increase my mood with meditation. Fear not, though! I found the cure. More No-No! *sigh* the cycle continues - i guess that's what happens when youre a reincarnated crack baby...
