Feats over too fast!

The conch feat evidently started after I signed off last night and ended before I got up this morning. Perhaps we could do feats that will last longer so we don't miss a time zone. (No excuses on how fast it went--y'all said you learned your lesson after the meditation feat!) Can't wait to participate in the next one.

BTW, the Esquibeth quest is inspired. The challenge itself, the scenery, the music, the storyline. I loved it. Thanks.

  • It would be so easy to just portion it out in game days:

Say there is 1000 contribution points for example, it could be any thing like the conch to the older meditation one. One player contributes 100+ contribution points while 1000's of others gain about 10 adding up to 1000.
Any more points contributed above 1000 would push the top contributor scores down to maintain 1000 points.
At the end of the game day, 1000 points are applied to the feat, next game day starts, rinse and repeat. Anyone who is trying to get on the leader board, then would have to push much harder to maintain a big lead. Anyone who is being lazy with the contribution may get squelched right off the board.

Yes, but I'm guessing they assumed this one wouldn't be completed as quickly since they'd just released the Esquibeth quest the day before. Also, there was a bug involved with the counter for this feat, over-counting conch plays.

  • I saw the quest yesterday when it popped up in my twitter feed. At that time I saw that it was about halfway fulfilled. By the time I got the info and into Glitch it was completed. Glitches always complete tasks, street building etc VERY VERY fast I think for the want of something different to do. We need more quests stretched out over longer periods of time so that everyone gets a chance to be involved.

Pretty sure it wasn't a bug, so much as the devs just plum forgot to limit the number of glitches you can play your conch to at once, as well as the number of other glitches' conchs that can play for you at once.  I got over a hundred (real, AFAIK non-bugged) plays in Cebarkul; it was very, very easy.

  • Yes - so far I've missed both feats. It would be nice to have something either that lasts longer or that is announced far enough in advance for me to try to make sure I'm around for it. :/

  • E D D I E: pretty sure that was working as intended, since that's how every musical item in the game works.  Why a conspiracy theory when the given information is straightforward and simple?

  • All that needs to be done is multiply the point goal they set by like 4 or so and it would take a while, but still be realistic.

  • I missed it too, but it's still beta.  The Feats aren't working quite right yet. :)

  • E D D I E: "Well, in this case there was a bug which caused over-counting which we're still trying to track down."
"In any case, because of the size of the crowds, we ran into a bug which caused the counts to go off: if you look at the Feat page, you will see many people who allegedly played it for 200 different people, 300 different people, 400 different people, etc. That definitely didn't happen —I doubt there were very many people who managed to play it for more than 100 distinct listeners, since it (obviously) gets harder and harder to find someone for who you haven't already played it."
