There's been a lot of talk and some really good data floating around on cubimal rarity and probabilities and stuff but I decided to undertake a little experiment of my own – open 100 boxes from every toy vendor in Ur and track the results on a nerdy spreadsheet so I could have one clean and consistent set of data.
I’ve opened 1150+ boxes so far and I figure it’s time to start sharing the info. My nerdy spreadsheet wouldn’t upload to google docs with all the graphs properly so I’ve made a pdf with just the graphs and summary of data here and also put up my full spreadsheet including the raw data here so other cubimal nerds like me can download and tinker with it.
A few findings from the data so far…
I had to open 580 boxes to collect a full set. Helga was the last cubimal I was waiting for.
Overall, 82% of boxes opened were Commons, 15% Semi-rares and 3% Rares.
Of the common cubimals, Piggy is the most common and Crab is the least common.
For the Semi-rares, Bureaucrat is the most common and Dustbunny is the least common.
And no surprises that of the rare cubimals, Gwendolyn is the most common and Rook the least common.
There are a few different styles of categorisation floating around and for the purposes of my experiment I’ve grouped as per the original standard Common, Semi-rare and Rare posted by Vermillion here. After looking at the data I agree with others who have posted their data and I really think there should be more categories. I’ve gone with six rankings as follows (table of old vs new categories is in my spreadsheet):
Very Common - Chick, Piggy, Butterfly
Common - Batterfly, Firefly, Crab, Frog
Semi-Common - Juju, Cactus, Squid, Sno Cone Vendor, Bureaucrat
Semi-Rare - Smuggler, Deimaginator, Greeterbot, Dustbunny
Rare - Magic Rock, Gwendolyn, Yeti, Uncle Friendly
Very Rare - Helga, Rube, Rook
And finally, if you see me shaking my moneymaker on Global or Cubimal Traders chat trying to get people to buy my CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP cubimals NOW NOW NOW because they’re HOT HOT HOT for a LIMITED TIME ONLY, please be kind as all proceeds go to ongoing funding of the experiment. :D
