Even Quoin Multiplier Limbo

Before the 0.1x cards vanished players could have ended on any multiplier ending in 0.0 through 0.9.
Now, unless the player was aligned with 0.0 or 0.5 when the 0.1x cards were replaced with 0.25x cards, they are stuck in a state where they can never again achieve "evenness" in their multiplier.  This leaves folks that are super anal about things like this twitching slightly.  (What? Maybe I'm not talking about me.  -twitch-)

I propose the following (sorry to the upgrade card appearance rule coders) somewhat evil cards, with the restriction that to have one appear at all you must be on one of these weird numbers, to correct this for me, er, the people that this is driving crazy.  Once a single one has been applied, none will ever be needed again as the player will have been corrected.

Starting Multiplier
0.0, 0.25, 0.5, or 0.75 - No fix needed, these line up with the new 0.25x cards perfectly.
0.1, 0.6, 0.35, or 0.85 - a 0.15x card for 7,500 iMg would correct this.
0.2, 0.7, 0.45, or 0.95 - a 0.05x card for 2,500 iMg would correct this.
0.3, 0.8, 0.55, or 0.05 - a 0.20x card for 10,000 iMg would correct this.
0.4, 0.9, 0.65, or 0.15 - a 0.10x card for 5,000 iMg would correct this.

In my particular case, as an example, but maybe we're not talking about me, I have a multiplier of 31.35x which could easily be repaired with a 0.15x card.

  • If you were that anal why would you let yourself get such a messy multiple in the first place? As punishment for your wanton acceptance of decimals I think you should stay with it forever! Muhahahaha.

  • Except I'm pretty sure the max is 100.0x and that's no longer possible to do evenly without either a waste at the end or a corrective multiplier card.  :(

  • You guys should start a club

  • Actually...   http://www.glitch.com/forum/general/25620/#reply-267486  I had noticed this, but it's still true and with no end in sight!  (twitch)  ;)

  • I noticed that about myself and first thought, ohnoes!! Then I realized that the 10K iMG I'll be "wasting" to get to 100x is like 3 minutes of hopping around in coin trees so I stopped caring.

  • Ha! I shoulda just waited...I knew this would bug the crap out of someone...

and now having overpaid my 5K...this subject no longer interests me.

But yes if I was still far away from my even 100 this would be grrrrrr. and We would start a club. The ugly numbers club.

  • Seriously? You people will bitch and moan about anything!

  • Not bitching or moaning, its just an ocd thing.  Or a balance thing.  I must have balance (the same number of each color M&Ms), my son must have things even (he'll take 2 cookies before he'll accept 3).  It's just the way we are.  I'm not complaining about the update, I actually like it better the way it is now.  But it would be nice if we could even out our multiplier for a fair price.  That's not much to ask.

I'm currently at 15.95 (at least mine ends in a multiple of 5, it could be worse), and I dread getting to 99.95.  Like M<3tra said, once it's done it'll prolly no longer bug me, but until then, it's gonna bug the heck outta me.  I'm not gonna ragequit over it.  But I think we're entitled to our opinions over it.  There's a difference between this and some of the other stuff I've seen people get butthurt over.

  • @Kelti I don't recall typing anything in a bitching or moaning fashion.  I honestly rather like that Quoin Multipliers now move at a slightly more sane seeming pace thanks to the new 0.25x.  I do however rather wish the numbers lined up.

  • I've been keeping mine lined up since I first noticed the weird percentages... I've only been buying 0.5 and 1.0 cards for a while now, but having a stray decimal would totally bother me too.

  • My understanding is that there won't be a stray decimal, you'll just buy more multiplier than you need and hit 100x and be done with it.

Can someone confirm otherwise? That you really get "stuck" at 99.85 or 99.9 or whatever? Because that seems implausible to me.

  • I had to resist the temptation to get some of those 0.2x cards for this exact reason. I managed to get all 0.5s and 1.0s, so now I'm at a nice 100x multiplier.

ETA: I think Kepi is stuck at 99.7 because of the quoin options. You'll have to ask her to verify this.

  • Ok i can understand that this may bug you....BUT if this bugs you theres a gazillion things that are going to do so, please just learn to relax and let little things go, we can't control every aspect of everything, IRL or Virtual.

  • Don't sweat it.  It'll round up to 100 when you get to 99.X.  Mine did (I'm pretty sure I didn't have to buy one to put me over but I don't feel like scouring and adding up from my updates).  And I'll only believe otherwise if someone links a profile of someone with a multiplier between 99.75 and 100.

  • I was at 99.85. What happens is that it gives you a card for 0.25

So you pay for more multiplier than you receive. The card promises 100.1 but the cap holds true at 100.0...in my case that was 5K iMG that went unused.  Not a big deal.

I've spent most of my 30->100 QM on an even 0.5 or 0.0 but I know I hit the wrong card a cpl times and worked quickly to fix it using reshuffles. Yes, it sounds nuts but ok...I'm a little nutty

    I'm cool with that.

Ofc the devs have far better/important things to work on than this.

But...the same can be said of why they even bothered to change this. I mean...of all the possible things they could have done...going from 0.1/0.2 -->0.25 is mundane.

They spent time thinking about the change. They at least talked about it a for a few minutes. ...what's the problem w/ a few of us twitchy players spending a bit of time on it too?

Or what my inner 6 yro wants to say "the devs started it!"

  • At 99.95x now.

  • Master Blaster, you've made me a believer.  Thanks!

I guess it does require the one more purchase to push you into the 100x.  Not that it should really be a big difference from 99.95 ;)

  • I personally love having an odd number. It just seems Glitchily wackier.
