What happened to all of the wild butterflies? Global warming?

It seems like it is a lot more difficult to find wild butterflies nowadays. I know there was a change to their lifespan a little while back. Are other people having a hard time finding them too? Maybe something could/should be done to extend their lifespan?

  • I suspect their lifespans are now shortened by manual milking. They hardly seem to come into being in populated areas before they expire. Poor things, though they probably die happy.

  • I guess that's why they call it a 'happy ending' :P

  • Before the reset, almost every public street in the traffic'd areas of the world was filled to its capacity with all of the animal types. During the reset, many animals were taken to a special farm where they can live out their lives in peace and plenty. It is surely a better place. And, in the fullness of time, the populations will start to come back.

  • Ah, life... So fragile... Yet so resilient... When my skills are up, I'll do my part to bring them back to their native habitat.

  • I had one butterfly disappear this test after i milked it, it gave 52 xp instead of 2xp when it did. I assume more animals will come into being overtime.

  • @Stoot - Is it a happy farm? Are there bucolic fields and golden sunshine?

  • It's all part of another Glitch animal conspiracy. Never let your guard down. Or your butterflies.

  • Silly question but - do players need to hatch the butterflies in public spaces or do they just "appear"?

  • They come with the streets originally, but they will eventually disappear after they've been interacted with a certain number of times. None will respawn naturally: we have to hatch them ourselves to replenish the supply.
