How do you get chicken and butterfly into your house?

  • Use a chicken on any street to incubate any egg and the baby animal goes into your inventory. Just don't feed it until you get back to your house.

  • Oh I see, I thought incubating an egg would spawn the animal instantly. lol

  • now how do you get it out?  I accidentally let a chicken int my loft, I was feeding the chick in the hope of letting it into the hallway when it was ready but without warning it jumped out of my bag full grown.

  • I think it will eventually wander out on it's own. Or you can release it, but then you'd have to hatch another.

  • You need high enough Animal skills to release an animal.

  • Bummer.  Can I get somebody with higher animal skills to release it?  I don't want animal skills and I don't want a damn noisy chicken in my loft.   I created the egg for the quest, and I wanted to keep the chicken in the hallway in case anyone needs it for grain or incubati

  • Does it die eventually?

  • Treesa, at the moment chickens never die. Nobody but the owner can remove a chicken from a home, so if you can't do it no one can. Sorry.... maybe you could move if it's irritating you that much?

  • If you got a pig pen, which you do not, you can place the chickens there so they do not fly around. Chickens and butterflies do not need to be fed after they are no longer a baby.

  • @snarkle: Really? I thought it was just one of the default home owner abilities. Hmm.

It's actually not a higher level animal skill.  You need Herdkeeping to release animals.  With its pre-req's of Soil Appreciation I and II, it should take about 5 hours to learn.  The benefits to learning this is you also have the ability to kidnap piggies with Pig Bait and it is needed for Remote Herdkeeping which is a very useful thing to know.
