SDB/credit idea? keep your upgrade! :D

hey, this is crazy, and i just met you, so call me mayb...

wait, NO!!  GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

so anyway, i have an idea for SDB's
offer a 'one time SDB style' purchase of say maybe 200? credits. that way you can update all that you want, for one price, you would then OWN that style. but make it like our original furniture and LOCK it, so that it is unable to be auctioned or given away.  that pleases the people that want one style to decorate, and also makes it so people arent selling them in AH.

just one small step for a glitch, one giant leap for glitchen kind.

love, peace, and chicken grease

  • Actually that makes sense. I hereby Second your opinion awesome sauce01!!!

The Perma-SDB prices could vary by rarity or pure design/artistic awesomeness, but I like the idea.

  • yes, i cant see anything else on which this would be a good idea, no one wants 200 of the same chair. but people could want many of the same SDB even if you want to change 10, and 10 credits each, that's 100 credits. still make the optional one time purchase accessible, but make this too? that way the it nullifies the 'but people will sell them for auction, TS will lose money' argument. make it high enough that its for someone who seriously wants it, but not too high as to not be unreasonable.

  • Exactly!!! I said something similar the other day. Basically I said have two options for each design, one that you pay a one time fee for unlimited upgrades but it forces the item to be soulbound {chill out WoW haters, I'll use soulbound if I want :-P}, and the other option would be a purchase per upgrade so you can still sell that design. So like Design Xa and Design Xb would be the same, to the naked eye, but function different and cost very different amounts of credits.

  • I have seen a number of people post this idea recently (and rarely in the ideas section for some reason, lol), and so many are saying that a switch to this kind of upgrade wouldn't lose TS any money (in fact I believe someone said it would make TS more money). Does anyone have any facts to base this on, or is this speculation? I'm honestly curious.

I've played a lot of MMOs and been involved in a lot of Alphas & Betas, and the Glitch player base seems quite different to a lot of my other experiences. The forums are whole worlds more gentle, for a start :D Are many Glitch players new to MMOs and micro-transactions?

  • I have to agree with this. I want to pay a one time price that allows me to "own" my SDB style. I abhor having to buy it over and over. I don't care if that means a higher price, and if that means my item is locked so I can't auction it. Fine! But PLEASE TS - stop making me have to buy it over and over!!

  • +1, this idea has already been put on the table a few times though, I don't remember if any staff mentioned anything about it...Either way, seems like it's something alot of people want or atleast talk about. @xombiekitty not really any facts to base it on, just economics, and slighty confusing ones at that. I think in all reality the only way to know would be to see what happened. But the way I understand it, they could lose money because people won't have to buy so many upgrades, on the flipside, alot of people won't buy that many in the first place because if they can only afford 5 they don't want any, because they want all their things to match. I personally think it'd be profittable to add the option everyone seems to want, but it will take a keen balance on the pricing to make sure that it pays of for TS.
