My NEW daydream: Glitch + turntable.fm!!!

Just imagine it.. INSIDE Glitch, spinning tunes with our avatars!!! It would be freaking brilliant!!! Who concurs?

  • I had been thinking the same thing, last test!

Also, just what these parties need--massive bandwidth requirements!

Adding that kind of feature now would require a lot of new Tiny Specks and distract from the core game, so don't get your hopes up right now.

  • Yeah, also all the time and expense involved in the inevitable legal hassles would be a pretty big distraction too! ;)

  • but I am just a Glitchgirl, daydreaming! It would be a nightclub plug-in. I am painting in giant strokes!

  • If we let people *make* music (rather than play pre-recorded music) there'd be no legal hassles.

  • that does sound good. turntable.fm is cute but the interface is kinda ugly and the avatars are just ok.

  • ...dude, yes, making music inside the game would be lovely. Even for those of us who are not very good at musicmaking!

  • can I just have a music block that streams my pandora stations?

    Here's some tunes for ya'll:

Trancy downtempo electronica, for when you eat way too many purple flowers:

Indie-type singer songwriter style, great for inventory re-arrangement and deep discussions with spice trees:

Breakbeat type techno - Project music.   Gets the lead out!

  • Stoot said "If we let people *make* music (rather than play pre-recorded music) there'd be no legal hassles."

Yes yes yes i say yes!

Stoot: is this a hint that we may have this capability in the future? There could be a Music section added to the skill tree - Glitches could elect to acquire the knowledge/instruments to create their own Music Blocks - which could work kinda like the TR skill. I for one would learn those skills for sure.

  • Just another quirky idea, be able to have a DJ play requests.  I'm sure it's not possible yet, but whenever an idea is expressed it seems to happen. :)

  • Letting people make music would be cool, but the problem here is, just look at a game like apb-reloaded which has a music editor: It is only used for plagiarism or to create annoying sounds as a form of griefing.

I think it needs to be something that everyone can do: a music program inside glitch that let people with no experience in composing music create music they like. I think it can be done, if you hide all the stuff like chords and let the user play around like in a lot of generative music toys that are available on iphone. Check synthpond for example.

  • Here are some example apps that allow people with no musical training compose music.
