Newbie wants to buy a new house!

I'm really enjoying this game. I have save up a little and thinking of buying a house. I would like to buy some where close to mines, but I need to be able to have piggies and chickens. Where would be a good spot to buy and what else should  I look for? Should I just wait to buy until I have more currants? I have about 10c now.

  • That depends on what you want--do you also want to have trees? How many garden plots do you want? Those are the main things that affect pricing.

  • You can have piggies and chickens in any house, as far as I'm aware! I assume you mean 10,000c? It's probably worth getting a house now then, unless you want one of the ~really~ expensive ones.
The realty listings are sorted by area, so you can work out the nearest ones to the mines from that.
You should also take into consideration things like whether you want to grow herbs or crops - (no house can grow both so choose wisely), if you want to grow trees (a dark patch is necessary for an egg plant, etc), and the more obvious stuff like whether you like the look of the house. XD
    Good luck and happy house-hunting!

  • I chose Groddle Heights for my home.  I wanted a dark patch, which it has.  There is also a fair amount of mining in the Heights (not as much as the caverns, of course).  And it's close to the Forest and Meadow, where there are lots of animals.

And I only paid 4K for my house.

  • Thanks. I don't know if I want crops or herbs. I'm only level 12 and I haven't used the herbs yet.  I didn't know you can keep animals in any houses because when I did a search I saw many talking about having pens for the piggies in the back.

  • Shimla Mirch is close to the mines and there's plenty of room for animals in the yards. plus, the houses are pretty cheap. i only paid 3500. there are bigger ones, but who needs a four room house when you can't actually do anything inside?

  • Crops would probably be more useful for you right now, at least until you experience herbs more and have a better idea of if you want to work with them more. If you're going the gardening skill route, it will be easier for a couple of quests to have a house with a crop garden.

For smaller, cheaper homes, I like idea of the caves that have the piggy pens, but they don't have many tree patches or a dark patch. I also like the other kinds of cave looking homes. I never lived in any of those though. I just got 15k cottage because I knew it would suit me perfectly as I had one in beta.

  • I bought my first house! I had been checking Groddle Heights for 2 days and they had no houses and then I checked and 1 was available and I bought it lol. It came with a spice tree, a cherry tree, egg tree, and 2 piggies! Now I'm scared my piggies will die.

  • your piggies will eat the cherries, or so I've heard, so don't worry.  It sounds like a great house.

  • I don't think they will eat the cherries off the tree, but you do not have to be there constantly feeding them. Until I got my feeder, they survived fine with me online only in my evenings(meaning there were 4 Glitch days in a row when I did not feed them )

  • There are Mines in Pollokoo now but no close sub station (yet).  There is no housing close to Ilmemski Caverns but you may be able to purchase a home convenient to a sub station that would suit you and make it easy to get to any mining location.

ETA:  I believe that pigs will eat cherries off of your trees.  I have seen mine eating under my tree so be sure to keep them fed.  i recommend a home with an animal pen.  there are some in Alakol and Andra and maybe other places.

  • A spice tree and a cherry tree have kept my 5 pigs fed for days.  I didn't even realize they needed to be fed until I found some "unfed" piggies out in the wild and then later watched one of mine chew on the cherry tree.

  • Ah, I learned! My piggies will eat off my trees. I'll have to keep my feeder stocked with yummier stuff.
