Switching Skills During Speed Learning

"Whoa! You're learning super fast. Keep in mind, if you switch skills, you'll lose your super speed."

When I began figuring out how "speed learning" worked during Beta, the description under the time bar confused me. I thought that if I changed a skill, the time remaining would go back to the original time it would take to learn the skill.  Of course that is not the case. It just keeps you from continuing to use favor when you came back to that skill. But I remember how anxious and confused I was about how favor/speed learning worked because of that phrasing of the consequence of switching skills.

I suggest the phrase be re-worked so that it is more clear. Something like...

"Whoa! You're learning super fast. Warning. If you switch skills, you will not be able to continue to speed up this skill when you return to finish learning it."

Or something like that. I think it will save a lot of confusion down the road as post-launch players start experimenting with spending favor to speed up their skills.

  • I'm still confused on this.  Essentially it'll just pick up how and where it left off, right?  Say the fast learning expires after it runs its course after switching back, I can still use favor again to speed it up, right?  Not like, never speed it up again?

  • That's right, Cross. You cannot speed it up again. When you switch back you will continue learning at the normal rate, but you cannot use any more favor to speed learn.

This only applies if you've done some speed learning using favor before you switch skillls. That is when the "Whoa" message under the time bar appears.

  • However, if you wait for the message to go away and then switch skills, when you switch back you WILL be able to spend favor on it again. I tested this personally.
