Is there an Iggy Switch?

Many mmo's make it possible to ignore individual players, so that you never see what they type.  I don't remember if there's one in the Glitchverse because the beta testers are so darn cool that I've never needed to look for one!

*puffy hearts all around*

However, once the gates are thrown open the odds are there'll be at least ONE person in the gazillion (I hope!) new users that merits the use of the iggy switch.

Is there one already?  If not, am I the only person who would like one?

  • Moved this to Ideas, because it's a very interesting one. And we are currently thinking about how "blocks" work - ready to hear all the ideas you have. Throw them on!

  • Yay!  I'm not redundant!

Some games use the Ignore setting to cause all the person's posts to be invisible unless they're standing right next to you and speaking "out loud," that is, they can't message you or be seen in the chat window.  It cuts down on strife quite a bit.

There's a thread on General that made me think of it -- the OP is very concerned about coarse language ingame, and rather than risk the devs implementing a system of censorship I'd rather he had the ability to filter out offensive people.

I haven't blocked anyone yet, does it function like an ignore setting?

  • It doesn't, Pallas. It does prevent the other person from kissing, hugging, mooning or splanking you, IMing you, and knowing where you are by looking at your info. I *think* it also prevents the blocked person from adding you as a friend.

  • I soo would love an ignore switch for certain players...especially if I see them in game. We had it in a previous MMO that I played.  The other thing that was especially helpful for beggars was being able to turn off trading with anyone.
