Fantastic Friday: Butler update

Your butler now has the ability to hand out gifts to your visitors. Give your butler a (single) stack of items, and he will give one item from the stack to each visitor who approaches her (or him).

We hope you enjoy this feature!

Sincerely,

The Butler Education Office of Ur

  • Hooray! Fantastic update! Give ALL the things!

  • It seems that you cannot say NO to an offer from a butler! All you can do is click "thanks."  If you don't want the gift you are out of luck!
I don't like this. I think there should be a "no thanks" option or you should be able to walk away.

  • @Avery: I would like to give ALL the things. It seems you can only give one thing, though.

@BogBlossum: If you don't want the gift, perhaps you can give it back to the butler (it might be "leave package" option IIRC).

  • Need some way to ask the butler how many items are left so I know what to refill it with?

  • I look forward to the "stack limit" being increased.  I made some EHSP but as I can only give my butler one, I either have to stick around and replenish or, only one lucky visitor will get one.  I could put them on the street but them one unscrupulous visitor may have a great time picking them up - Lol!

  • All great suggestions above.  Have to agree, might want to say no, thanks, especially if my bags are getting full, and I don't want to have to drop things.

  • Yes, finally a way I can easily dispense my coffee to the glitchen of Ur!

  • Thanks for the feedback — being able to ask the butler for the quantity remaining and the ability to say no are pretty easy. Allowing many stacks is a bit harder, but I bet it will happen someday.

  • It seems like the same problem as "giveaway" bags, SDBs, etc. It would be great to be able to put in a variety of stuff, and have the butler dispense them one at a time, per glitch, per gameday.

  • Thank you, Stoot.

  • One more vote for being able to say "no".  I used the minimap to bypass a butler and got frozen on the street.  Had to reload to get my Glitch back.

Gives new meaning to "an offer you can't refuse".

  • Currently the easiest way to find out how much of the stack is left is to give the butler something else.  He/she  will attempt to return x number of the previous stack and wait for you to confirm.  Just find out how much is left and say no when asked to confirm.

  • if you don't want the item you can always just accept it and then give it back to the butler.

  • You can't say no when a player gives your glitch a gift.   I don't see why anyone should care if the butler gives you something you don't want.

  • If a player gives you a gift, you can block that player from giving you any more.  And you can give it back to the player, which you can't always do with the butler.

And, whether you can understand it or not, some of us care.

  • Why would you block anyone who gave you a gift?

  • Have you never had anyone try to fill your backpack with shiny objects or cups of water?  Not all gifts are welcomed by the recipient.

  • I have.  And I think it's hilarious.

  • OK Question.
During Zilloween if I let my butler hand out Candy does it count towards badges?

  • Really awesome! Love having the idea of having my butler serve drinks! Good going, guys! :D

  • Be careful topping your b0tler up. If you are holding more than you want to give her she take them all but only increases her holding by the number you asked her to take.

    Not explained well?

B0tler is holding 17 Fruity juices.
Your inventory has 10 Fruity juices.
    You 'Give' B0tler  5.
You now have none and B0tler has 22.

  • I've changed the gift giving sequence so that the butler will tell you (in a speech bubble and the local chat window) that a gift is available, but you'll have to click on the butler and select "receive gift" to actually get the item. This means that you don't have to receive the gift if you don't want to, and also you won't get stopped if you're auto-moving.

IrenicRhonda - there were some bugs with giving things to the butler which got fixed yesterday. If you see any further weirdness, please let us know!

  • I'm glad that the gifts from butlers are now optional. Was getting a little annoying before.

I ran into a sleeping Kevbob the other day and I was sooooo tempted to fill his inventory, because when it happens to me I think it's hilarious, but I know not everyone does, so I didn't.

    But it made me sad.
