Recipe finder

I'd love a way to find out the various things I can make with certain ingredients. For instance, I have lots of ginger as a result of spontaneous gifts from trees. I could comb through the various recipes for each of the appliances I own, but how much nicer to have a tool that scans my inventory of food and gives me the various recipes that ingredient goes into when I click on it. Maybe one of those clever programmers fiddling with the API can figure out how to do this?

  • I think that would be nice, too. The current way Glitch lets us cook things is so very convenient (showing you much of X you need to make Y, being able to go back and forth between the main recipe and its components, being able to go back to other recipes using the same appliance, etc.), and it would make cooking even easier if we had a way to see what we could readily make. This is an especially useful tool for when people want to slim down their inventory.

And, as you say, it would be nice to see the various recipes that could be made from some ingredient. Let's say I have an enormous amount of parsnips that I'd like to use up. I'd love to see that I can make awesome stews, fancy crudites, etc. from it, even though I might need more beans or whatever other ingredients as well to make them. If this function didn't exist within the game, perhaps it could be seen in the items section of the encyclopedia, although that might detract from people "discovering" recipes.

To take it even further, this see-what-you-can-make-with-this-item function could potentially go beyond food for things like butterfly eggs and alchemical powders. Talk about convenience!

These dreams may be big, but I have faith in our clever programmers. :) They are sooper smartz.

  • Hmmm this can be made. At least current API methods provide way to see what is in your inventory. It there are several combinations things can get more tricky.
