Anyone else can't get in?

Was playing, suddenly got kicked out (no biggie, usually happens when Flash plugin crashes) but now can't get back in.  The loading thermometer screen goes to 100% then just sits there boiling away ;-)

  • Nvm, for some reason my Chrome browser is wedged but I was able to get in on IE.  Probably just some transient issue that will go away if I reboot.  Sorry for the alarm.

  • I had this happen too and had to switch to FF to get back in.  Clearing cache multiple times didn't help, but I didn't try rebooting.  As it is, I'm not liking FF at all, so will try to get on with Chrome again later.

  • I managed to get on as the game opened last night, played for a couple of hours, logged out at Northwest Passage and toddled off to bed.

Tried to log in this morning, home page skills and all the other menus work, and it probably says that I am online at the moment in the passage, but I cannot get past the loading screen for the northwest passage. Picture shows whilst loading and gets to 100%, and then my browser plugin crashes.
I have cleared out the cache, cookies, temp files and anything else I can possibly clear :P I've rebooted numerous times I've actually lost count!
I'm now at a loss as what to do next so any ideas would be gratefully received especially if running on a 10.04lts release of Ubuntu with Firefox as browser :)

  • I have problems too (Mac OS X, Chrome), and deleting cookies, clearing cache, etc. didn't help.

  • I wonder if this has something to do with the fact the chrome bundles it's version of flash with the browser - and cannot be manually updated. From what I can tell my Chrome flash version is MAC 10,3,181,14.

  • Sayyadina- you appear to be using a nightly dev release of Firefox. We don't recommend using a bleeding edge browser to play with. If the current regular release of Firefox  is still a problem, try re-installing the Flash plugin. Or, it could be a profile issue: If you can create another account on your Linux system, see if  you can login with that one to compare.

re: Chrome in general- there have been reports of problems with the game in Chrome. I see it sometimes when I play a long time, and text in chat boxes is dropped. At this time believe this is a Chrome bug- it doesn't happen on any other browser that we know of. Some people can play and not notice, but if you do, try it with Firefox 4 and up to date Flash 10.3 (and you can install the debugger version of Flash which is linked in the bugs forum). But, I and a lot of players don't have any issues logging in to the game with Chrome either, to be clear.

Philip- I have  Chrome on my system pointing to my other plugin. You can manipulate which one to use by entering about:plugins in the address bar and selecting the plugin section and making changes.

  • This happened with me in Chrome, I had to restart my computer for something unrelated and it started working again. Once I realized that, when it happened again I closed the browser and restarted it and it worked again.

  • Sayyadina, nekomaki & Sunny — clearing your cache will make things slower (because now you'll have to download stuff fresh). But restarting your browser will generally make things faster.

Best of all: use a freshly-restarted browser other than the one you are using for everything else: the game is pretty resource-intensive and if it has to compete with tons of stuff in other tabs (youtube videos, webmail clients, especially other javascript or flash-heavy stuff) in the same browser then it definitely perform much worse.

  • Agreed. When I play I close all other sites that use a lot of Flash, including Gmail, Facebook, etc. And I also close my constantly-running programs that eat bandwidth and memory (such as a torrent program at max power).

  • Ive been having trouble getting into the game all weekend. The loading screen takes forever and when it finally does finish loading and I finally get into the game my inventory is missing and everything in my house is gone.

  • Ok now been kicked out both on Firefox and IE, was trying to help Rednic move, this is so not going to help, has something gone wrong glitch wise or is it just me and my poor old lappy/ connection?

  • Thanks for the replies here :-)

Yes I am currently using a nightly release of Firefox, after trying to play on my machine, my husbands machine as he only programs on his, and on the laptop I'm still having no luck.

I did try fresh browsers, Seamonkey, Dooble, Midori and Arora, all 4 of them fresh installs, never been tried by me before and all 4 gave the same result. I get as far as the picture for Northwest passage, watch the bar go across the screen and then the plugin crashes.
I've reinstalled flashplayer plugin, and reinstalled java too, I'm just lost as to why I can't play. My learning however has come on in leaps and bounds, as I can still do everything else from the main set of menus, except load the northwest passage :(

I've sat and watched so many loads now and it always gets to the part where it transferring data from c2.glitch.bz, and thats when the plugin crashes

  • I had the green bar issue after a crash on Chrome. Tried reloading in same tab twice, closing tab and trying a different tab, then gave up opened Firefox and got in.

  • I too have tried chrome, and I still get a crashing plugin...I'm beginning to think that something is badly broken on my system, though I had originally changed nothing when I first encountered this problem.
I'm really at a loss now as what to try next
