The Glitch Market SDB Item Finder Thingy...

The Glitch Market now uses the SDB/Tower API. I have removed that manual version(Marketplace) in favor of the new system which can be found by selecting a category on the left or using the search box at the top.

Auctions and Tower/SDB items are on the same list:
 - Tower/SDB items have a 'Teleport' action
 - Auctions have a 'Purchase' action

glitchmarket.com

You can also search for your character name(or for someone else) to see all of the items you're selling. Here's me for example:

My Auctions

My Tower Items

edit: fixed it for you, Windborn ;)

  • Sorry for the same post in two forums... The other thread wasn't really getting any attention.

  • Wonderful idea.....thank you so much!

  • Thank you. I have a feeling that it's going to fail, though. I don't think people will like updating their item quantities all of the time. If the item quantities aren't up to date, people will get frustrated when they are looking to purchase the items.

We will see, though. I may have to had a "report out of stock item" button or something.

  • Quick question, is there any reason for showing hundredths of a currant? Cents, if you will? Unless we can sell stuff for fractions, I don't think it's necessary.

  • @dm I slapped it together pretty quickly. It uses a lot of the template code from my Auction Helper tool that does allow decimals. I'll remove them tomorrow. =)

  • So, why would your app need to modify my character?
Posted 5 months ago by foolbunny Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @foolbunny It uses the same authentication system as my Auction Helper. The Auction Helper requires permission to modify your character to post auctions. If people actually start using the marketplace, I'll change it so it can handle both. =)

  • Thanks! I have put all of the items available in my tower in my have list. :)

It seems to change whether the items are in my tower or not sort of randomly. If I log in to see my list, it says none of the items are in my tower. I if I then update it so that all the tower boxes are checked it says they are in my tower again. If I leave, log back in and recheck it will say no. Is there a way to prevent that?

  • Sorry, it's probably not very intuitive at the moment. I'm going to play with it and see if I can figure out better & easier ways of doing this.

What list are you referring to? When you click the "Post Items That You Have" link, it shows a list of every item in Glitch that my system has encountered. It used to only show items that were in your inventory, but I changed it because I kept having to pull one item out of my SDB in order for it to show up on the list.

Or are you talking about the list below the items that you have already posted?

  • I also had the issue where it forgot the items where in the tower. I think what happened was as I was adding new items, the items in my master list at the bottom of the page became unchecked. So when I applied the new item that removed the previous items from the tower.

  • Oh Sheesh. I know what you guys are talking about now. I'll fix it tomorrow.

I think I need to get some sleep. haha

  • @dm Updated. =)

  • If this coordinated with your SDB inventories, it would be beyond awesome.   Here's hoping the API enables that.

  • Yeah, that would be pretty neat. It would make the auction system kind of redundant, though. Mainly because I think that they would make their own system to search for items in towers. If they did that, my site would become completely useless(oh noes)!

I used the Marketplace quite a bit rather than buying things on the auction system last night. I found it more fun because I ran into people in the towers and had a couple short conversations. Being able to teleport right to a home street can sometimes be a lot faster than waiting on that stupid frog. I also found some good streets to gather materials on. =)

  • I'm personally hoping that now that we have the Towers, the auction will be transformed into an actual auction with bidding and stuff, but only time and TS will tell.

  • Yeah, Mithax, that would be very cool.

I just made a little update! If you go to a tower that doesn't have the item you wanted, you can now report the item as out of stock to let other players know. Just click on the "Report Out Of Stock" button on the item's page. It will also send the owner a notification on Glitch Market that their item is out of stock and that they need to update the quantity.

    =)

  • As per the Twitter feed:

SDB selling prices & sale price histories for both auctions and SDB sales are now available for API developers:http://developer.glitch.com/forum/24727/

Looking forward to seeing what you do with that.

  • Everything before this post was about the manual version that I created before the API was released. Sorry for all of the confusion. =)
