Coins of excessive value?

(Apologies if this is answered elsewhere; searching for "coins" yields many results)

I just got an experience coin worth 132 XP over in Tallus Gardens. I've had similar events happen a few times (usually in the Ancestral Areas, where I assume it's compensation for the limited time to get stuff done). Not that I'm complaining, but is there a reason some coins are worth so much more than others?

  • Was the coin in question in a harder to get to spot then normal? It may be an incentive to explore the various nooks and crannies on streets.

  • Sometimes even regular coins in an easy-ish places have higher value. It's just a little perk to find these. Most of the time higher value ones are kind of hidden or in harder-to-reach places.

  • I was under the impression that the value of coins goes up if no one picks them up for a while. Has anyone tested this?

Also, I've noticed that the base value of coins for your character increases with level. Again, can I get a confirmation on this, please? Thank you!

  • There are special quoins that have slow respawn rates.

And yes they increase with your level.

Note: The quoins in the ancestral area are worth much. Great for a midday fill up.

  • I think you mean awesome value. Or perhaps Coins Of Unusual Size.

  • Thanks, all -- it was reasonably out of the way (and at the end of a dead-end street that likely doesn't get a ton of traffic), so I could see it being both a high-amount coin from the get-go, and one that had gained value because it hadn't been picked up in a while.

  • @Hagbard Celine & @katlazam: Q.O.U.Ss are definitely one of the "hazards" of the fire swamp.

(We just have find someone clever enough to discover what the lightning peat looks like.)
