Awesome reply from stoot about high level gardening

In another forum post this was posted and I thought this was something important enough I wanted to be able to point back to.

Stoot Barfield says here: "Toksyuryel, re "What is the purpose of the "leisure activity" message when gardening? The only time I ever get it when the game is lagging. Is it meant to punish us for experiencing lag?"

The purpose is to let you know that the client has not yet heard back from the server regarding your previous action and can't proceed to the next one until it does (because the garden or plot or you or your tool or one of many other things might have changed state in the meantime). It is not meant to punish you. The alternatives are for it to just silently fail (which I guarantee you would find more frustrating) or display some other message.

(This is a rare case where "lag" (slow syncing between client and server) is actually the cause of the problem — usually the problem is that Glitch/Flash/your browser are colluding to melt your CPU and it just can't keep up displaying everything on screen at the same time, regardless of the client-server latency.)

Gardening performance will improve (I hope!). But, automation is the future for high level gardeners. The upcoming skills Master Gardener and Potionmaking III will make your suffering a thing of the past.

  • I would like it if there was an upgrade that made it so if you feed a piggy, say, 9 cabbages, you get three seeds.  Going about it one by one makes me a little insane.  And if I'm doing it wrong, and you already can, someone please PM me and let me know.

  • Can we also have a skill for people who talk and argue really well in the game?  It could be called "Master Debater"?

  • @Morraine, they changes that a long time ago. You can feed your piggy a full stack and get a butt load of seeds back.

Oh thank God!  THANK you so much, TS!  I GREATLY look forward to the new skills.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • This is excellent news which will greatly increase the pleasure of playing the game.

@Morraine: Piggies have been doing what you want for quite some time now. Try it. AFAIK it happens naturally and doesn't need any skills or upgrade cards.

  • As for new cooking (skulls): Stoot has said recently they had plans for the sauces. There is a skull on one of the cooking tables in Nylon Phool, you know?

And of course from the housing system preview videos, we know there are a handful of new crystals in the pipe eventually.

@Morraine, consider this your PM: you can feed piggies multiples of 3 crops, and receive the correct amount of seeds in their plops. They'll wander around and may leave you more than one plop, though. This was added a little bit back.

@Loupin: only if other players, who are also very good at "baiting" people into arguments, also get a new skill.

  • It wouldn't be so bad waiting on this new stuff if there was a way to make little macros like in greasemonkey.

Something that did water/pet/harvest on a tree (or better yet on all the trees on a street).  Or mine a rock until it's gone.

    Flash annoys me cause I don't understand it like I do html5. <tiny whine>

Ok, that's out of my system.

Carry on Devs.  You are all awesome!

  • New skills coming? I can hardly wait.

Yay on the idea of faster gardening. It is one of the few things that annoy me enough that I want to throw my hoe at the garden and stomp off or yell at it that gardening is work not leisure.

  • Skulls do make the best soup stock. Or is that skeletons? I can never remember.

And HUZZAH! (even though I mind more the gardening behind pigs and chickens than I do the occasional quack)
