  • Quite frankly anything I leave outside my home (aside from the gnome) I expect to be taken.  Just as I would pick up an item myself.  It's the mechanics of the game :) If you don't want items you want to keep going for a wander it's best to leave them inside of your property.

  • I understand a newbie taking stuff but really, the decorations are usually not really worth a lot, not something we couldn't earn in about 5 minutes ourselves. Why would anyone at a high level take something that's clearly there to brighten Ur up... Yes, you can say it's the mechanics of the game but still, I rather enjoy the view than cause sadness

  • Call me a litterbug if you like, but I often leave stuff in public places bucause I know someone will want to take them.

  • the best bit is Granny that it's probably your neighbours picking up the stuff lol

  • @Octo, I do the same thing : ) Try to hide it as well though so it's more of a thrill to find it!

  • I put random kindness rainbows in a decorative 'wall' around the front, went inside and came out a few minutes later to find every single one gone. I expected them to slowly disappear but did wonder why anyone would fill up their pack with so many. It amuses me what gets picked up and taken, except when they take the grain I leave for the pigs, poor piggies. I tell myself they are new players and probably don't realise and hope the items help them in some way.

Really hope we have a little space out front of our new homes to lock things down in, would also love a letter box to leave things at friends' houses. I have come home to find things left for me, which I love, but do wonder how many things are left that disappear before I get there.

Octo and Casarat, I like hiding things too, on top of high rocks and behind bushes and trees. It's fun.

  • I drop stuff all over Ur for others to take and of course I've taken dropped items too, but if something is clearly meant as (house) decoration I leave it

  • Miss Parsley- Stealing RK is such an oxymoronic act.  They steal something they can only give away.   I suppose they might think they can sell it, but what a surprize when they get to the vendor or the shrine!  I hope they spent the next week wandering around bestowing RK on everyone -although I somehow doubt it.

  • @Miss Parsley: Just curious why you drop grain on the ground instead of directly onto the piggies?

I like to put stuff outside my house, between my 2 gnomes and then when someone takes it, leave a note for them.

someone was even coming onto the street and taking all the piles of stuff others had left for the new piggie population [we have no trees]

  • I left two corn seeds outside me door for a week.  No one wanted them.  So sad.  Took them home.
Posted 11 months ago by Tibbi Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Dr Killinger

I drop it on the ground because they are street pigs and I don't usually have the time to chase them around dropping things on them. I hand feed my own pigs for the seed but it's tedious enough without feeding all the wandering pigs of Ur like that :D

  • @Diablo.. Shiny things of no intrinsic value are what I like to decorate my street with.... They generally disappear within minutes. People take stuff because they can, not because of any value it has. It is the Avarice of Glitch.

  • I like to now & then leave something in front of all my neighbors' doors, just for kicks. It may be "the mechanics of the game" to just take anything & everything thats not glued down, but don't fool yourself (only meant for the ones who do this), it reveals your character when you run up & down a residential street taking whatever you see. It may not bother you to realise this about yourself, no problem. But its a good heads-up for the people who know you.
It doesn't bother me to see it, it just reflects rl, and I'm used to it. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing it & having just as much fun.

  • I liked the Hoover glitch who was going from street to street in my housing quarter about five minutes after all of the Zilloween pumpkins decorating people's doorsteps turned to pies. I snatched mine up just in time, my neighbor wasn't so lucky. Industrious I suppose, but he must have started out with completely empty bags as the pies take up one slot each ;)

  • There will always be those ruled by greed, sadly.

I sort of pity them in a way... stealing pixel items of all things, lol.

Who would stain their honor for pixels?

  • I don't put decorations out my door...but someone came into my housing quarter and took the notes left there. Who does that?

What a waste of time and bag space.

  • Shame on the person who stole the piggy feeders and food outside my door. I live on a street with no trees so I shall just have to feed them by hand in future. Leaving things in public places for others to pick up (which I do all the time) is different from placing things outside my door! I was also a victim of the pie thief!
Posted 11 months ago by Mostly Mellow Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Just so you know, I don't think that piggy feeders work outside a house. Leaving food on the ground works fine, though.

  • Some glitches consider junk left laying around out on the public streets to be clutter, or litter, and do their bit to help clean it up.  Random Kindnesses can be donated to a shrine.

Honor?  People take these online games far too seriously.  Get out and do some real random kindness to a real stranger.  Maintaining your monitor tan isn't that important.

  • I find that, seeing as i am a Rook worshiper, that to take decorations and hide them is my own form of destroying imagination. :P

  • This past Zilloween, while some lanterns did turn into pies, many did not, due to some sort of bug.

  • So that could have been just some random glitch on my street right after the lanterns turned to pies on Zilloween, whom I just assumed was swiping pies. Glad I didnt say anything--that would have been another one for the "awkward moment thread". I guess that's a good lesson for me to not jump so quickly to a negative conclusion.

  • Hopefully with our new streets and houses that were promised we will have our own space like how the gnomes and idols work .(only you can place or pick up) I still leave all sorts of stuff I don`t really need, in the meadows or forest where the new people come on to play to help them.So no more decorating with anything in front of house.like flowers intrinsic objects or rainbows.so sad to see neighbours house across the way she had such beautiful decoration one day and when I came back from the mines all was gone and she left me a note crying.well so true is" it takes the dark and the light to make everything happen in life".so WE make OUR choice each and every one of us.may you feed yourself the right stuff to your habits.

  • I joined during the first beta wave, but only really started playing the past few weeks (and i'm thoroughly enjoying the game and can't think for the life of me why i couldn't get away with it when I first signed up) I am ashamed to say that when visiting the herb gardens initially I did pick up the grain that was left for the pigs thinking that the chickens had somehow 'excreted' it for the taking.  I honestly had no clue that someone had actually left it to feed the poor animals.

However, If i saw something laying around outside of someone's house I wouldn't pick it up, I hope I haven't upset anyone with my 'newbieishness' and in defence of myself and fellow new players sometimes things aren't always done with maliciousness or greed in mind, and once I'm a bit better established in the game hope I can repay the kindness shown to me other than bestowing random kindnesses that some lovely person donated to me in the first place.

  • I think the game "rule" is to play how you wish to.  I've picked stuff up, without realising, in the early days and now I leave stuff.  I leave food on my street for the piggies, only 2, and I've never seen a neighbour since beta stopped and restarted.  I dump common cubimals in hiding places and can guarantee they are never there an hour later.  Biggest problem was always herb garden griefers, now TS have addressed that so IMO, play, enjoy and let those who want to steal/collect/think it's free to take, get on with it.... we know better so can only blame ourselves if someone takes something we think is ours.
