Have you sold your old house?

I've completely moved everything I had over to my new house and I'm selling back the old one today.  I'm a little nervous about this to be honest.  Mostly because I have a lot of stuff and animals.  I know TS will put everything "in a box" somewhere.  My new house is expanded as far as it can go and everything fit's nicely at the moment.  What will happen at the next housing release?  Will I have access to this "box" indefinitely?  I am stocking up on building materials.. urth blocks, metal & wood building supplies (and raw materials) in order to be able to expand as quickly as possible.  I hope we will be able to keep the "box" for at least a little while.

Also, I really hope we get mailboxes.  This is the one thing about selling my house that, at least for the moment, is going to be very inconvenient.  Maybe they wouldn't need to be on the street.. what about just a link somewhere that we can click on to access our mail.

I am curious how many other Glitchen have moved into their new house and sold the old one?

  • I'm mostly moved into the new one, but for now a personal house is a revenue stream. I have 20 pigs and 10 collectors chilling there, and I've been promised that I'll even get the pigs back as eggs when we switch over :)

I, for one, recommend keeping the old house and using it as a meat factory ;)

  • I haven't sold my old house yet, I figure I paid 50k for it so no point getting 40k back when we might be compensated the full price with the move. If not, oh well:)

  • I keep my machines at my old house, along with a chicken, so I haven't sold it. I like going there and harvesting from the trees, squeezing the chicken, and maybe making urth blocks if I remember to bring the supplies.
Besides, I'm curious about the "reimbursement" we are supposed to get.

  • I did do that for a while Liza (27 pigs & 15 butterflies.. (and oh yes, the garden too) but it just got to feel like a chore.  So much housekeeping with 2 houses that I wasn't finding time to go collect the resources I want to build up.

  • Different situations then I guess :P I already did the gathering of resources.

(Hilariously, I did not guess correctly which things to hoard, I simply hoarded everything. This has worked out well in the past. Guess who thought it'd be super smart to pre-hoard tree poison for Bunions before the potionmaking skill came out? Ka-ching! That unintended great decision has financed a grand hoard pile in my new house, with money left over!)

So, now, I find I accidentally did all the things already :P I just log on, gather all the resources from my houses, die a bit for badge progress, chat, and then head to the forums to read the word of the day :) I'm kind of in that last phase right now ;)

  • I have kept my Rasana home and will keep it until it is demolished - like many of you there are almost 30 pigs in the backyard and so far I haven't been satisfied with any other means of herdkeeping at /home; also my icons are still there so I am there a lot. I freely admit I will miss it very much.

  • I have both!

  • I have both, but when I went back to my "old" house today (have not been there for weeks) - my neighbors' houses dont light up with their names as I pass them. If I click on the house, it will tell me, but they used to show the names as I scrolled past... :(

  • I'm using my old house dirt patches to go for achievements. Bonus.

  • I still have my old house. It only takes me a few minutes per (RL) day to harvest, feed and cultivate. I have moved all my manufacturing to my new house and much of my storage. I don't see the change coming in the immediate future and find myself reluctant to sell my mansion even though I have always disliked it!

  • Since we have no details of the moving process or the compensation plan from the actual TS staff much beyond "it will work out", and the new /home is specifically for testing, I haven't left my old house yet, and I doubt I will before the change-over.  I picked my house because I like it (it was actually difficult to find that type on the market), and I stocked it with resources that I found useful.  I have been experimenting with decoration and cultivation in the test home, which has been both fun and useful.  However, I don't plan to fully move in, since it sounds like the real roll-out will involve a reset anyway.

  • I'm still living in my old house and I plan to do so until I'm evicted.

  • I love having a huge amount of herb growing space so I'm mostly using the new house, but my old one (50k house) is still full of stuff so I'm not giving it up just yet!

  • I currently have both. I have a treehouse type home in Bortola, I've brought over items for immediate need such as some garden/herb seeds things like that, and i moved the machines over to the /home. However i kept the majority of things at the old house. I noticed with the last update if things were still there but off the side of the screen they didn't re-appear until you expanded the house or yard. I do realize that they have stated everything will be moved, but with being uncertain as to EXACTLY how i left the majority of things at the old house so i don't have to worry about that issue. And i want to see how were compensated for the old house too.  Plus i have a large garden, the cabinet, some pigs and chickens,3 trees, and the mailbox at the old home as well. There are things i like better/worse about both sets of housing so until the reset/switch I'll be keeping both.

  • I bought mine during the first test after reset and won't be giving it up until I'm evicted!  (Can we get an "Evicted" Badge, please?!)

  • I gave my 50k in Andra up a couple weeks back, and I regret it a little. But No big loss here, I haven't used it in forever!

  • Thanks for posting, Merth.. There's definitely a reluctance, whatever the reasons, to let go of the old houses (nothing wrong with that, of course).  Now I don't feel so alone anyway, in making this change..  :)

  • I, too, plan on holding on to my house as long as glitchenly possible. I'm going to miss the retro game-styled furnishings.

  • I want an 'Evicted' badge too! I still have piggies and chickens in my old house, as well as 3 trees - I'm finding it easier to tend to these as my garden empties of other stuff.

  • I agree with Mereret, and have therefore moved nothing into the new house.  There is no guarantee that there will be a seamless transition to permanent new housing, and if there is a lapse of time between wiping the test houses & starting the new housing system you may not have any access to anything stored in the test house for that time.

  • I shall not sell my old home. I have moved most things to the new one (things I use a lot anyway), but my animals are still there because I don't want to bother with transferring them to the new home and prefer to wait for them to be turned into eggs for me. I also love the 5 trees in my old home. I don't want to live fully in the new one until I can have as many trees (well, rather, can work on imagining a suitable number of trees; 2 doesn't cut it for me).

I figure even if I were done with the old home, there's no point in selling it when we'll be compensated when they reset housing and get rid of the old ones. It's not like sitting there empty will cause problems or force me to go to it (but I love it, so I won't let it sit entirely empty).

  • I moved to a smaller house that I just use for trees and animals, but almost everything I own is in the new housing.

  • Like the idea of an evicted badge!

I have most all of my stuff moved into my imagination home, but for me, I will keep my Ur house until the end.  My game BFF and I worked hard to get our old original beta houses back after the reset before the opening of the game last fall.  I think we were some of the first people back into our neighborhood, so on principle, I won't give it up until I have to, even though I'm hardly there. Also, since it is one of the larger houses curious if we'll get closer to 100% compensation than just 80% for selling (haven't heard anything definitive on that yet), and for that additional reason, I'm not going to give it up until it is time. But it's more for the sentimental reasons that I've not sold it.

  • I'm gradually separating myself from my old home. I love it dearly and have been happy there, so I'm taking baby steppes away from it.

I had 5 different trees which I adored, but I recently replaced them all with gas plants to maximise harvests for people trying to level up before the changeover. That makes it seem less like "my" house to me. Then I moved my front-door gnome inside the house, which makes it seem less like "my" house to the outside world.

  • I moved everything into the new house weeks ago, but am still hanging on to the old one. Also have the worry that things may go astray with the next housing release, but also because I still harvest from my trees in the yard. Also gives me a lifeline to the rest of Ur. I sometimes find that with the new house, I spend too much time there and no longer "bump" into people on the street.

  • There have been some key issues reported for people that dont own Ur houses. Only reason I kept mine. My alt did not own a Ur house and friends would get the 'player offline' message when they came to her /home so I had to buy a small apt before friends could come over to. Still have one friend that cant get in even though she has a key. Staff said in Live Help they were aware of the housing issue a few weeks ago. Not sure if its been fixed.
