  • Yay! I love that location choice for a party.
It's the best place for jumping around and cliff diving :D
Plus a vendor selling spinach for when I run out :)
    I look forward to it.

  • +Pi.

My favorite EOTW party was the last Feman one.  And that's not knocking the great EOTW parties that have come since...

  • I was talking about moving IRL!  But all moving sucks, in game and out of it
Posted 17 months ago by Laurali Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Oh, I kind of like moving in-game.  Helps me to de-cruft the house and get reorganized.

I hasten to add that I HATE moving IRL.

  • Not to rain on anybody's parade but it seems like the new seam street Plexus would be a perfect place for an end of test party. We've done feman falters once already, and we do have a history of partying at new and unusual locations... Just a thought! :)
Posted 17 months ago by katlazam Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Plexus would be great, would also suggest that.  I will stockpile meat energy and summon till my summoner breaks if people need to get in.  Will also stockpile keys and stand outside, even in the rain, to help people get in.
Posted 17 months ago by Nanookie Subscriber! | Permalink
  • As Meherman has suggested, we could also have multiple parties. Especially for those whose screens tend to freeze or games tend to crash when too much is going on. I'll probably make it to both if the two remain separate.
Posted 17 months ago by Cerulean Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yeah, Plexus would be awesome, and there are 2 reasons why it's not there:

1 - I had planned on having this party at the end of last test, but Laurali got the drop on me and got word out about her party shortly after that test started. In order to prevent that from happening again, I announced this event before this test even started, and thus, before any of us non-devs knew that Plexus even existed.

2 - Plexus takes some effort to get into, requiring a key and all - I think it best to have the EOTW somewhere accessible, so that anybody can come and have a good time, not just us 1337 addicts. ;)

Anyways, yeah, people can gather wherever they like - I'm just saying, this is one such place where people will be gathering, and it will be fun. :)
Posted 17 months ago by BeatFreq Subscriber! | Permalink
  • 1 this whole one person decides where the end of test party thing is a relatively recent phenomenon - seems like others have been more of a group decision that was made during that test, when we knew whether there was anywhere exciting and new that would be party-worthy.

    2. The last two parties have been in locked streets, and the last one was the biggest party yet!

While it's technically true that more than one party is possible, it hasn't yet proved feasible, largely due to the whole 'network effect' of the more people, the more fun, especially because who wants to go to the party where you don't get to hang out with the devs?

Like I said, just throwing that out there for whatever it's worth.
Posted 17 months ago by katlazam Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I also think Plexus would be a great place for a party.  It's been an issue before that people have planned parties in advance, some new streets open and some people prefer to party where it's new.  Not saying that is a problem at all - just saying that's the way it is.  For myself, I prefer to see what's new when the game opens, then head there for fun and frolic.

At any rate, I don't see an issue with two )or more parties - there's lots of us these days, you can party hop or just stay in one place, whatever turns people on. :)

For those who want to go to Plexus later today, just hit me up in-game for either a key, TP script or summons.
Posted 17 months ago by zeeberk Subscriber! | Permalink
  • also, i have hundreds upon hundreds of tickets and various other supplies at my house in isalan interval, and it would be nice to be able to run back and grab some as needed to keep the party going without having to deal with tp cooldown...

  • I wish I could join ya'll!  But this  game lags like a sunshine shot down with rain pellets when I mingle with more than one other player .... crazy for a social game I know but there it is ... I will spend 20 minutes for my avatar to move one step, I truly don't want that headache.
Posted 17 months ago by Brekkana Subscriber! | Permalink
  • To address the whole "solitvary vs. group vote" issue, two parties is okay. Three parties is okay. Ten parties is okay. Let people throw whatever parties they want, and attend whatever parties they want. A party doesn't have to monopolize all users.

ETA: Considering BeatFreq DID put so much thought and effort into it, if I make it home on time, I will definitely stop by your party. I have also been dying to see Plexxus and would like to see some other familiar faces, so I will also stop by there, too. In fact, I'll let people know when I'm leaving one for the other so you can all feel free to follow me and get a free trip out of it.

  • THANK YOU so much to BeatFreq for a fantastic party!

My first day in Glitch was Wednesday, and it already feels like home to me. This was my first end of the world party, and it put a big smile on my face! Thank you to the organizer! Thank you to the participants!

I know that there is a discussion about numbers of parties and who organizes them and where they should be, and I appreciate that people are putting thought into this. But as a new player, I really appreciated the accessibility and the excellent openness and advertising and sense of inclusivity.

Rascalmom rocked the Conga line like nobody's business!

Thanks for all the races everyone! I haven't been able to make the last few parties so it was great to so many familiar faces all in the same place at once!

  • Thanks so very much to everyone for the kind words! Honestly, I had so much fun conga-ing because it's so great to see us all flying around together, and I know it makes people smile:). As I said tonight (more than once in my insane excitement), I love, love, love my fellow Glitches! So THANK YOU for letting me "drive" some congas today. I'm more than happy for others to lead congas and stuff...but also probably too happy for my age to be leaping around like a nut in front, too:)

I was really wanting not to say much about the "more than one EOT party" issue, but since it has been brought up in public, I want to share some thoughts. Please understand, first, I really like all the posters in this thread, and not a word of this is personal in any way; I just know we had ruffled feathers...maybe we can unruffle together;).

First and foremost, I'm worried we might be thinking with our emotions more than our heads, on many fronts...?

~spontaneity vs. planning: It's sooooo cool when there are spontaneous parties; I've been to many! In fact, we had one Wednesday early when Plexus got discovered that was a lot of fun. However, for something really big that'll involve a very large number of Glitches, I don't see why planning ahead is innately bad. To get that many to hang out together can take some real preparing...cooking or, as in this case, collecting race and game show tickets. There's some "we did it this way a couple months ago" vibe in this mix. But...it's a couple months hence. We have more testers. We have new testers who don't know how things worked before. We have more people to get the word out to. Announcing things early on helps with all of that, surely? Same with repeating a location: How bad is that? I mean, one repeat in...gosh, since early March when I started. Not too bad!

~is the EOT party thing a contest (a feeling I see in this thread)? It really doesn't seem to me as if people are trying to turn it into a contest...after all, there was sadly some backlash about Laurali's party notes a week ago...yet from Laurali's forum apology thread where a lot of people said basically "none needed," it's fairly clear she really had super intentions and wanted to do something fun for us all (and it took planning). And BeatFreq said he'd originally intended to throw his that week, but he stepped back when he saw her notes. He still announced it early since he'd already done the legwork, sure. But waiting another week seems to indicate it isn't a contest so much as a desire to have fun with a good party idea when the time was right.

~locked streets vs. public: Naturally when we all find a supercool new locked road (or old, like last week's party:), we wanna have a party there! Remember when Ajaya Bliss opened? :) And while experienced Glitches have gone out of their way to give out TP scripts and keys to the locked-location parties, some will always feel it's elitist to hold parties there. I personally don't think this has to be the case, but I could see how it might be an issue for new players especially. Seems sensible we'd want to not have two week's parties in a row in locked places, just for balance. A really easy fix might be...for the last hour of a test, the devs could make locked streets not locked? Devs, would that be possible? Just throwing that out there:) And on the new places...they'll still be there a week later, I'm thinking :)

~one person vs. many planning/controlling the party locale: Although BeatFreq was the driving force/public voice behind the Feman Falters party this week, he had enlisted some help behind the scenes. Many people helped collect the game show tickets. I imagine other past party throwers had folks helping cook and plan and (for last week) collect keys, write TP scripts. Someone naturally is going to be the "public voice" though.

My other feeling is...growing pains/evolution? We're gettin' bigger. We're gonna get even bigger. The lag at parties is already pretty fierce for a lot of people. So having more than one EOT party does make sense just on that issue alone. I know the other part is...people like to party with the devs. Well, there are more devs now, too:) And heck, with the parties beginning a bit earlier, as this week, Glitches and devs alike could make it to more than one party, at least for a few minutes, so the more the merrier:). And on the evolution front: Soon (oh, no I didn't pull out that dreaded word...er, yeah I did), whenever this is, there won't be any more END!!!! So there will be parties...but with a different feeling and purpose. EOT parties are going to be moot....

Again, I'm just thinking aloud. I'm trying to see where maybe heads and emotions are butting. Throw out your thoughts; I can take it:)

  • LOL bored, you nut. Thanks, jasbo:) Hugs! But whoever wants to...please dissent or think aloud with me. I saw all kinds of pros/cons with the one/two parties. Had a ball at Feman, had a ball at pregathering in Plexus, too!
Posted 17 months ago by RM Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Love you RM!  I'm really sorry I couldn't make Beat's party, but I hope everyone else had a great time!  There really isn't any problem with pre-planning parties.  I actually didn't start planning mine until a few days after the test had started, but it was such a long test that I had plenty of time to prepare.  But preplanned parties give more opportunity for EVERYONE to feel invited and know when/where the party is.

The devs have been great about parties on locked streets.  Jade gave me a TON of keys to hand out for the party in Vicar's Peak so that I could hand them out.  Really, the only time anyone can't get into a locked street is if they don't want to.  Some people like to have a problem with everything.  I think there will always be someone complaining about a party on a locked street even if they have plenty of opportunity to be let in.  But lets face it, locked streets are the coolest ones...that's why they are locked!

If someone wants to be a party pooper, perhaps its best they don't get into the locked street in the first place.

  • I attended both EOT parties, thank you all who organised and participated, it seemed like everyone was having fun.
For me it was a win/win situation, the first EOT party/s in a long time where I haven't had Flash crashes, some which have prevented me returning to the game.
