Rook Icon

12th giant so to speak, as per 12 sided die, requires an icon. Scope for hilarious and/or punitive buffs abounds......

"The Icon of Rook bestowed an attack on your house"
"The Icon of Rook peed in your hooch"
etc

Brainstorming this. Over to you. Many questions.....

  • I like this, but I don't know how we would make one.

  • It would be interesting to see a Rook icon made possible for Rook worshipers (myself not included), though if it was punitive in nature I can't see many folks working all that hard to acquire one.

Favor/Emblems could be gained by aiding the Rook during attacks, and 12 Emblems etc etc etc.

Perhaps this would allow for a more complex development of the role/story of the Rook.

  • Cat Face, I like your thinking. This is exactly the type of thing I had in mind. It's the story/role development of the rook I am particularly interested in.

I like the idea of being able to aid the rook, and be rewarded for that. Makes sense to obtain favor/emblems that way. Though may create animosity in game....I mean, people already get pretty heated about poisoning trees.....

    Anyway, great contribution, thankyou.

  • I imagine the Rook to be a naturally occurring force of anti-creation. (As opposed to the  deimaginers who are an unnaturally occurring force of anti-creation, who work at the behest of the bureaucracy, who seek to corrupt creation to their own ends-- so they're really the villains in the story, in my interpretation..)

So, creating a Rook Icon is, inherently, not a rookish thing to do. A rook icon would need to be de-created.  *Mind turns inside out.*

  • Getting further down the rabbit hole:

    "hilarious and/or punitive buffs"

These kinds of activities strike me as something that would be ascribed to a "Trixter" or "Fool" archetype, who, for reasons of their own, create discord.

The Rook, interpreted as a "trixter" might make the development of Rook Worship as something more palatable to a pro-collaborative creation game-playing audience, so long as it is carefully balanced against griefing.

I'm thinking of, mostly, ways to reward players who use Glitch's creative toolsets to unusual and surprising ends that make Ur's  tapestry all the more rich. But I'd have to think long and hard about what the ends would be and how they'd be incorporated into game goals.

    Hrm....

    Good topic.

  • I don't know about anti-creation.....

I considered it more in terms of destruction of creation, or imagination at least, and therefore a Rook icon COULD be created. However, you raise a good point about setting it in the context of the mischievous rather than the out and out griefing aspect that could be generated.

I suspect this would only work best when applied to the individual, as current giant icons are, rather than the wider game per se. That is to say, the avoidance of creating a weapon, of sorts, in game is paramount.

You've made me doubt much of my early ideas about this, which is a good thing. Much more thought required.
