We are back!

And it’s up!  The grand Imagination Conversion of ‘12 completed a few minutes ago.

Two big things in the game changed with this update: we’ve switched to the new Imagination system and overhauled the UI.

Glitches now have Imagination (iMG) instead of experience points (xp).  As you gain Imagination by playing, you can spend it on Upgrades (as well as expanding and cultivating your property … and other stuff, still to come).

The various Upgrade Cards do things like increase your brain capacity, add one-off improvements to skills you’ve learned, increase bonuses for activities in the game and even enable whole new capabilities. You can choose from 3 possible Upgrade Cards at any given time. You’ll be able to “re-shuffle” to see different upgrades once each game day.

We also reorganized and modified the game interface to streamline, simplify and better reflect these changes. Look in the upper left corner to check out the new energy and mood display, as well as the revamped “player menu” (just click on your pretty face). The iMG button next to it opens the “imagination menu” which is the new home for skills, upgrades, and moving back and forth from the surface world to imaginary spaces, like your house.

Q: Where is the keyring?
A: It is disabled temporarily; it will be back in the game, but not right away.

Q: The new growl messages (explanation/notification text at the bottom of the screen) are bugging me!
A: We are still working on the final design for this, but they will bug you a lot less soon anyway, since a large number of them will just stop showing up and go straight to your activity log (e.g., almost all animal interactions, since those already give you feedback via talk bubbles).

Q: I see random XP notices here and there!
A: We haven't taken all out yet, but we've got most of them cleaned up. If you see something else, go ahead and open a case and we'll be sure it's on the list if it isn't already.

  • Edit: This response was in reference to Djabriil asking about an imagination refund and reset in the post previous.

    What? Imagination isn't going to be refunded and reset. Or if it is, then I missed a big announcement. The only possible (though perhaps not set in stone) refunding of imagination I know of is for the brain upgrades (and the upgrades taken away), because those cards ended up being way more buggy than intended.

  • I haven't been playing a lot lately, so this is probably an old question:

    Why isn't there a "decorate" mode outside of the house? I can't access my inventory while in cultivate mode, and I can't move objects. This is so strange and counter-intuitive, since I can do it while inside the house.

    Also, it would be nice to be able to move garden plots, rocks, etc.

  • Just want to say I really like the changes so far.  The iMG is a vast improvement over xp, since we can spend it at our discretion.  I like that there is less focus on leveling.  Keeping our level numbers behind a click keeps it "out of sight out of mind" for me. 
    I am looking forward to future changes!

  • Chickens seem to have been nerfed by 50%.  Was this intentional?  Has anyone found a card to change grain output from +5 back to +10 per squeeze?

  • That was an unintentional change based on the post Togger linked to :) Of course the programmers usually don't change things like that on the weekend ;) Unless they are MAJOR problems like the brain capacity typo.

    IE Things like the chicken squeeze output being too small and the tree harvest output being too large can wait till Monday.

  • I like all the options in the imagination window, but I dislike that when you click on something in it you can't get back to the main options window, you have to exit the whole thing.

    Edit: Okay I don't know if it was there the whole time and I just didn't see it or if it's new, but there's a "back" option on the IMG window. So all solved!

  • I think this has been mentioned already, but it would be easier for me to open bags by clicking on the icon of the bag itself, rather than the plus sign.

    I also think that the buff/debuff indicator is both difficult to see & not clear enough about what a buff/debuff is & how long it lasts -- I much prefer the older style bar.

    I have had some performance issues on the other computer I use (posted about in Bugs), but so far I think the new system and UI is pretty great!

  • Cricket: Double clicking on the bag still works! If a single click worked, how could we pull up the menu for dropping/renaming/closing? A long click might work?

  • Trying to get with the (new) program. Some stuff I like (decorating options, while limited, are a plus), some not (house styles: hut, another hut, different hut... architecturally limited. Liked the old house).  One oversight, though -- moving. In order to move machines from old house to new house, must disassemble, move, reassemble. For the upgrade, needed a "moving van" option that let us just shove stuff in and move. Plus, can't move chickens or butterflies. Okay if I buy a new house, but this is more of a forced move.

  • P Culiar, all your belongings will be moved to the new house for you when the new housing change happens. Even your animals - though they will be turned back into eggs for you to hatch again.

  • so i've been playing arround, trying to do a bit of everything (not close, cause there's so much to do in Ur!!) and i'm loving this Imagination Conversion:))
    loving the cloud and how devs got it all together. i still keep going to the right side when i want the dropdown menu, but this is an adjustment that i found funny to achieve, to see how fast my brain can finaly do it right lol
    well, i use my focusing orb a lot and now, sometimes i get distracted because the meditation time increased but the music has the same time, so when the music ends, my clicking is so fast that i get that scary sound... maybe the music could be longer or once again, it's just my brain:)
    i found the numbers and the + in the bags to small, but i'm sure they will work ok soon, thank you!
    the upgrade system is just starting and i can't wait to see the qurazy cards that will be introduced! so many ideas! and i like to figure how they work. i'm not buying some of them, like the ones that extend the tool's lifespan because i don't have those related badges yet. so yes, i think that for a newbie, this is part of some strategy way of playing that we, since we already have many badges, don't get it.
    and you dear devs, really make me sing even when i'm not in Ur! so big hugs to you and thank you so very much for all that you do:) love ya!!

    Awesome update, but I prefer the not-so-futuristic old UI. The new one reminds me of sci-fi games.
