Hello there! Here's an idea I had while marvelling at the huge world of glitch, partly influenced by this Monty Python sketch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ycb9_Y_gJ-g and party by an old British game show with a similar premise I’ve quite forgotten the name of.
Speculative Rules: One runner must get from Goli Grabs in Kalavana to Totakuru Trample within a week, only playing for a specified hour a day. Ten seekers would be after them, but seeing would not be enough: they would have to get close enough to give them guano of defeat.
The teams could wear distinctive uniforms so that non-players who had heard of the event might recognise them and decide to help or hinder them by communicating the location of the other party.
To make things more interesting, there might be a certain number of missions to be completed before reaching the goal, or one every day – e.g. Leave a signed note on streets beginning with A, B,C, D,E and F. Or collect 50 barnacles. Or donating lips to shrines of every deity.
These extra conditions and the fact that subway travel, teleportation etc. would have to be disallowed, suggests the need of either frequent snapshotting and uploading, or some unbiased referees to follow both teams around. Perhaps the community could donate to a prize pot for the winner. Or perhaps the winner would just become the captain of the seekers next week.
I’d love to hear suggestions for better numbers of runners and seekers and/or better rules and such.
