Are we ladies getting fatter?

I love new clothes, but I notice lately that the new dresses all make my little glitch look like she gained 50 pounds. Now, it is hard enough to keep your weight down in real life. :) I want my little Glitch to keep her figure. lol So I don't want the chubby dresses even though I like the colors and prints on them.

  • LMAO how perfect for this to coincide with my Glitch-size thread.

  • I wouldn't be surprised- my Glitch is always hungry.

  • I dunno, I'm a big fan of all the flouncy move-y parts on dresses. But that may just be my love affair with the little touches in the animation.

  • i love the lace and the flouncey parts. but must admit i have a thing for short skirts. i think it could be considered to tweak the new dresses just a teeny tiny eensie weensie little bit shorter, and a little closer to the torso. but still the same lacey with the flouncey parts. i love the way the jackets show the dress sleeves, it looks cool.....

  • Actually, I deliberately chose a coat like mine because, both in game and irl, they tend to be slimming and flattering.

  • I just sat and nodded at the title of this post even before I opened the thread...oh you meant our av's..well...yeah...I knew that...ahem....

  • Does this dragon hat make my ass look fat?
Posted 16 months ago by Widdershins Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I wear mine over my head so I can't see  - that way I can't see how fat anyone's ass looks, I find it's safer all round that way

  • Yup, I'm with Sierrra on this one.  Also agree with Betty that they might look a little better if the are tweaked (the dresses that is) and most of the straight skirts made a little shorter - they look a little droopy and old fashioned to me.

    LOL @ widdershins!

  • Well, yes, we do look a little "puffy" in the newer dresses.  In RL I am "puffy" so these make me feel "normal" (is that possible?).  I did pass on a couple of them because I felt a little too puffy (blood and rainbow) though I also loved the colors.  Glitch is my fantasy life so I can be as thin and young as I like without being overly stuffed.

ETA:  Could the skirts be a little shorter please?  When I was a child my Mother (who made all of my clothes) thought that skirts should be short enough for panties to show when you bent over.  I was pretty cute in those skirts but I did get in trouble for bending over when I was in Kindergarten - LOL!

  • lol - I did think last test that alot of the dresses seemed somewhat 'spacious'. It could be argues that Glitch reflects Glitcher in my case then!!!! Perhaps it balances out the skimpier outfits like the coconut bra and the grass skirt, and the seemingly growing number of half-nekkid glitches? My Glitch might as well go the whole hog and wear a sack - oh, hang on we've got one of those in the wardrobe haven't we?

Sorry - i do find some of the new dresses overly 'cute girly princessy fairy-tale stylee' but thats just my opinion.

If we don't want puffy sleeves, modest necklines and frills what are we after? Are there dress-styles out there that do suit?

At least unlike my RL wardrobe I can usually find something to suit and at least I don't have to worry about whether I can still get in it!!

p.s. The leaf dress is my favourite, or the springtime (?) dress.

  • That's so funny because I kept thinking things were getting awfully puffy as well, not that it matters since I only wear a few clothes here and there. But there are also lots of slim styles, so maybe those were for balance :)

  • Oh, I'm glad to see some of you agree. :) Like others, I do like lace, but tuck it in at the waist please if it is wide, and not so long, please. I especially like the little black and white lacy dress that came out last time. It is shorter and not as wide-looking. The sailor dress is cute, too. :)

  • I dunno, didn't they say that certain types of layering and animation (at least for hats) are easier with wider objects? If it's workable with skinnier items, sure, and if not, oh well. I'm sure they'll figure out the right balance for variety with time.

  • I agree with the 'spacious' comments -- I was wondering if my glitch was simulating weight gain :P  No doubt TS can tell easily which styles are most popular, and what gets worn, so ... yeah. Variety is good. What we like, they will know.  And a little of everything is good, even things that are maybe less popular, because everyone has different taste.

  • How come we can't have a nice black dress, long with slits up the sides and of course real high heels, with flashing lights like all the kids get to have in rl and we don't

  • dont want that happening! every dress i put on my glitch makes her look the same. very skinny!

    what dress is it?

  • @ Gia Toria - The Blood maiden's Frock looks particularly puffy.  So do those cute lacy dresses.  Those with the Bow on the front are also quite caloric.  This probably has a lot to do with our little beer bellies so there is not a lot can be done to make us look "slim".

  • Yes, we do need more skirts, too. :)

  • Heels are tricky to work with -- you either have to cheat and make them not change height (so legs get effectively shorter, but this changes how pants/stockings/etc look) or let them make the character taller... if you can get away with it and not change game physics in the process.  If the engine isn't already set to accommodate height variation and it relies on an assumed avatar size, it could mess up a LOT of interactions with the world.  I wouldn't expect them soon, at any rate.

I do want the option for more slinky clothes, though, and I can't imagine there are that many technical limitations on those. =)

  • @ 1padme -- Exactly!  i looked at the new dresses and thought "Glitch got maternity clothes?"
Posted 16 months ago by Marla Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The stiffer fabrics and under-busks we've been using on some of our recent dresses do lead to a puffier look.  But, don't worry flowing fabrics and slimmer silhouettes are also in the pipeline.

  • The cut of the puffy dresses is actually based on the Lolita look, but our avatars don't really have hourglass figures and lean long legs to compensate for the frilly bits:)

It's funny that you mention it though because yesterday May and I were just discussing how to make our avatars a little bit "sexier", if such a thing is even possible with our cute little characters. It's a work in progress, that's for sure!;)
