The worst sound I've ever heard is "Ray Bradbury is dead".

In honour of one of the greatest storytellers who's ever lived, I'll be throwing a Toxic Moon party (since it's the closest thing we've got to Mars) tonight at 8 pm EST. Everyone who has ever found a best friend in one of his stories is invited to attend.

  • I wish I could attend, but sadly I have RL commitments.  Anything I can mail you to help with the party?

  • same here, so sad.  well, not sad per se, because it was a long life and I think he was happy.  he sure made me happy all throughout my years.
    I hope I can go.

  • It might be more like 8:15 before I get home, but I would love to attend. I'll IM you when I get in game if that's OK. I wish there was a way I could bring some dandelion wine.

  • What a loss, but what a treasure trove of reading (and rereading) he left us!

  • It's very sad for the world to lose such an amazing man, but I like to think that he is somewhere with wonder and joy for him to experience forever.

  • I've never read any Ray Bradbury, that I'm aware of, but I'm still saddened by this news.  The loss of any iconic artist is always saddening.

  • I don't really feel overly sad about his passing.  He lived a long life.  He gave all of us so very much pleasure.  I have RL friends who knew him fairly well.  I will definitely miss him.  I hope you're right welfy.  And I agree with Mollie.  I will do some rereading in his honor.

  • This has been a tough year on my childhood, with the losses of Maurice Sendak, Carroll Shelby, and Ray Bradbury all so close together (yes, I had a strange childhood).

  • Holy crap!!! He died yesterday??? Yesterday, I decided to start reading Dandelion Wine again...that's so weird. Ray Bradbury is an amazing writer. I credit him for truly teaching me to live in the moment

  • I met Ray about 10 years ago, just briefly. What a young at heart soul he seemed to me. He drove a big black Cadillac (iirc) with the license plate "451 F". My autographed 1st edition of that book is a treasured posession.

    What a sad day.
