the Jumping Game is a very simple, player created game that developed in the wake of the invention of "dev-jumping".
you only need two players to play it, although multiplayer or team based variants are surely possible.
the rules are simple:
1] the object of the game is to jump over your opponent without touching* them. doing so scores 1 point.
2] there are no other rules.
*touching means that part of your avatar overlaps part of your opponent's avatar during the course of your jump.
despite the game's simplicity, it is actually rather compelling! there are fake-outs and feats of manual dexterity, different tactics for using your opponent's momentum to your advantage. Lelu and i developed the game together in the lobby of Louise Pasture Tower, and found it compelling enough to play for more than half an hour. the tower lobbies make for great Jumping Game venues, btw. the tight confines mean more action.
scoring is by honour system, but it is rather obvious when a point has been scored and a referee could possibly watch the game and assign points. most of the time Lelu and i didn't bother to keep score, it was fun just to play with a rough idea of who was ahead or who had scored the last point.
i can see many variants of this game being developed, and using different streets might enable different strategies.
