New Item: Moving Box!

This would be a box that only can hold other bags and toolboxes, and would fit into one standard slot.  It simply become next to impossible for long term players to move with all the stuff we've accumulated and store in our houses.

  • It would have to be temporary otherwise it would give people enormous inventories.

  • Great idea! Now I 'hide' a lot of bags in front of the house I want to buy, hoping it still be there when I'm done moving. I always leave lots of stuff in my old house..... I would buy a temporary moving box when I'm moving for sure.

  • Maybe it could be a menu option when you sell your house.  Package everything left in the house into a moving box or leave behind.

  • I'd argue houses already allow people to have essentially unlimited inventories (other than load lag limitations), so not sure they'd need to be temporary, but I'd be fine with a moving box being unaccessible until a new house is purchased, at which point it unpacks and disappears.

  • We were talking about this in global the other night. I agree wholeheartedly. I have way too many items to effectively move without losing most of my booty, which is simply silly. I'm already way too skinny. (snare tap)

  • I have nothing against this idea... but doesn't the recent addition of house keys make this unnecesary? If someone wants to move to a new house they just need a key to a friend's house and can stash items there while buying the new place.

  • I posted a slightly similar idea (gift & storage boxes) which compensated for the increased inventory by not allowing the items to be accessible while in the box. The box would need to be opened which would place the items in your regular inventory. To further discourage the use of the boxes in the course of regular glitching, after carrying a box for so long, you would get a buff akin to Full of Pie or Pooped which makes sense, really... carrying around all that stuff makes you tired!

  • Not really Syruss. You have to have acquired someone's key, and you have to lug it all there. I guess I could see the second as being marginally acceptable, but as to the first, that presumes a relationship with other players that many may not have.

  • Yes please. I have loads and loads of blocks, bricks, machine parts, peat blocks, jellisac, etc, and right now moving just isn't practical unless I want to leave a huge proportion of my stuff behind, or get 3 people to help.

  • I just wish you could mail things to yourself (including filled bags). Problem solved.

  • I like the idea of a moving box (especially if it is a temporary one) but I'm going to play devil's advocate a bit. Perhaps not everything should be made so convenient for us. Perhaps moving house should be the cause of a dilemma and a consequent opportunity to really think about your possessions and your need for them.

  • @ ✦ SHI∇IΔΠ ✦ - You can, sorta. Put up an auction for a ludicrous amount of money- say, 12 Awesome Stews for 15K currants, or 3 XS-1 Musicblocks for 80K. Wait for it to expire, and it'll show up in your in-box. Takes a bit of planning, but it works (that's how I avoid carrying a bunch of spare food into the mines, to free up space). Can't send bags, true, but if you don't mind not having access to something for a day, it's a pretty good work-around, and definitely better than actual mailing.

  • Hum, apparently they are now in the processed of being imagined as part of the new housing system.  Thanks TS.
