I'm thinking about making a Glitch app, using the api (like the other tools we've seen so far.)
Anyone have ideas of tools they'd like to see, that don't exist yet?
Hmmm...I think that most of those things are not yet possible with the given API, but it gives me an idea of what's needed. Thanks, and keep the ideas coming...
Hmm... this one might not be possible until more info comes out, but I'd like an app that calculates how long a user defined set of skills would take to learn while taking into account the modifying effects of increased # of skills learned as well as the moderating effects of the different levels of better learning skills. My brain's still having a hard time trying to figure things out manually, so having something do it for me would be fab. :)
Look up where you want to go on the map, using the search box.
Click on the street name from the list
On the map, click on that street, and select "Set As Destination"
This shows you a yellow line from where you are to that street
Click on the black arrow in the white circle that shows you what the next street is.
You'll be taken automagically along the route shown
How about a way to check our favor with all the giants at once?
Preference would be the amount out of 1000... but I suppose being able to see where we are by consolidating a view of the leaderboards could be sufficient. The total favor/1000 is not a correct number, as favor is spent on learning, perhaps it requires you to earn you next emblem for a giant to trigger the 'start value'.
A few more good ideas, but so far, I haven't seen (or thought of) anything useful that hasn't been done yet, though this will likely change as the API and game expand.
Let's see...I should probably do an overview for people of what's possible now, what may be possible in the future, and what will likely not be possible ever.
What's possible now:
- Anything using info available via the API, which at the moment includes the following bits of info/functionalities: Players: player name, if the player is online, when the player was last online, details about their avatar, player's level, player's XP, player's XP needed till the next level, player's currants, player's energy, player's max energy, player's mood, player's max mood, latest skill learned, latest achievement earned, player's location, player's house info (i.e. address), if the player is your friend, player's last update. Inventory: see your full inventory Auctions: see available auctions, create an auction Skills: learn a skill, list all skills, list available skills, list learned skills, list learning skills
That's it. As you can see, the vast majority of this list is just information, not manipulation. There are only 2 things we can manipulate - creating auctions, and learning skills
- We can also, with moderate success, scrape the information off of any site we can visit, which is how the location checker and achievement checker were made - they combined the info from two sites. But making a favor checker, for instance (good idea, Trav!) would require scraping the info from each page of the leaderboards of each giant, until you found your account...rather inefficient, though maybe possible.
2) What may be available in the future: who knows? Probably lots of stuff.
3) What will likely not be possible ever: things that happen only in-game, like petting, nibbling, and moving around. The API doesn't interact with the flash game itself at all.
So...I'll keep thinking, and I'll keep checking for API updates. But in the meantime, I have no ideas that can work yet.
How about what level someone is just by putting the cursor over avatar? When trying to find level 5 or less to gift to, by the time I click on the avatar, go to info, they have usually sped off somewhere else :(
An app about how many currants we need to afford a particular real estate; tied in with how many items we have to collect based on average auction currant value would be nice.
Example: I have to sell 300 shiny rocks to buy a house at paasha's place.
I would really like to see the app about the badges, and the unvisited places too.
