Seed Order (Interface Suggestion)

When you plant flower seeds, they are currently offered up in a fixed order, with the very first one highlighted.  This is annoying if you use the arrow keys to choose which seed to plant.  For example, if I want to plant 16 silvertongue seeds, I press up to move to the next plot, enter, and then left three times to highlight silvertongue, repeated 16 times.

What should happen instead is that the seed arrangement should be something like a stack, in the sense of the data structure, so that the more recently you've planted something, the less keypresses it takes to get to it.  Failing that, the last thing you planted should be what starts highlighted.  Saving 45-48 keystrokes every time I plant silvertongue would make me happy.   :)

  • I don't do it that way.

    Here's my technique:

Stand a bit to the right-center of the garden.
Use the Enter key to select the whole garden.
Use the Enter key to harvest the current crop.
Use the Enter key to clear the plot.
Use the Enter key to plant a seed.

    (Here's the trick)
Use the mouse to move the cursor over the seed I want to plant.*
Use the enter key to plant the seed.
Use the arrow key to move to the next plot.
    Repeat.

the trick is to position your Glitch so that the cursor is still over the garden plots.  If you click outside the garden area, you then have to reselect every thing.  If your cursor is positioned inside the garden area, the cursor is still over your previously selected seed when it comes time to plant.  I can plant a whole garden without using anything but enter, arrow and a single cursor-positioning maneuver.

  • Oooo, thanks for the tip!  <3

Though I still think the interface ought to help me rather than fight me.
