Auctions for credits

Please forgive me if this has already been suggested.  I did do a brief search before posting.

Auctions for credits would give people who cannot afford to buy credits a way to earn some.

I really believe that most people who can afford to buy credits are probably doing so.  If I'm right about that, then TS won't actually lose money on this idea.  In fact, once people who might be able to afford a few credits (but who aren't buying any at present) get a taste for the delights of credit upgrades, they might decide to go ahead and part with some money.  And again, people who simply cannot afford to pay-to-play will not be entirely excluded from some of the fun they are currently missing.  There could still be subscriber only thinggies.  I'm not arguing with that form of enticement.

I'm open to argument, esp if it is kindly done.

  • In a sense, we already have that- many people offer currant-for-credit furniture upgrades, and auctions for subscriber-only and credit-purchased furniture are available as well. The only thing non-credit-buying folks are missing out on is wallpaper and their wardrobe. And even then, everyone (at least as far as when I joined) gets a small smattering of credits to start with.

While I can see where some people might prefer to buy their credits with currants, effectively turning time into money, I personally don't think it's needed. The furniture auctions and kindness of other players is more than enough credit access for me.

  • maybe I'm mis-understanding you Wrench - or vice versa.

I think it would be nice if people could sell items in the auctions for credits instead of currents.  Then that person could use the credits to upgrade furniture or buy clothing.

Perhaps you are finding the upgraded furniture of your choice on the auctions, but I certainly am not.  Maybe we're just looking at different things.  I keep trying to find upgraded decorations, for instance, and all all I see is the basic versions that I can build myself.

  • Thanks Irenic - I was *not* aware of that aspect of the market place.  :-)

and yes Zoey I agree.  The decentor above is male... maybe clothing not as important to him?  Also he has wall art that costs 55 credits each (some after which I am "lusting") so I'm guessing he can afford credits and doesn't get what we're talking about.  I could be wrong though.  :-)

  • You could be very wrong.

Making assumptions about someone's gender, and then applying sweeping generalizations about an entire gender's clothing buying habits and this person's finances makes you look pretty silly.

Many of us in the game get what you are talking about.  But that doesn't mean we are well-off females.  And, as IrenicRhonda says, there is already a way to do what you are asking with furniture.

  • I don't have a big problem with looking silly.

I think being able to admit that you might be wrong about something is awesome.

So is choosing to be positive.

It's also awesome that the marketplace offers a way for people to get furniture they want without credits.

I am constantly amazed and delighted with the creative solutions people in this game are dreaming-up to make this game better for all.
