Could We Foster A Potlatch Tradition In Ur?

For some interesting background reading, here's a quick summary of what the Potlatch tradition is.

Basically it's sharing.  Sharing in a socially cohesive form.  It's really saddening to see how it was suppressed historically, essentially as a form of genocide.  But elements of it exist here in Ur and it's a form of play we could encourage.

When Group Halls become a reality, Potlatch could be very viable for communities that form around them.

  • I feel that the term "Potlatch" may send subliminal messages that unfairly favour Pot.

  • We already have a potlatch tradition here.

The beta beta end of the world parties were in that tradition.
The many open parties to celebrate RL and Glitch birthdays are in that tradition.
The party rooms themselves are in that tradition.

We don't need group halls to continue throwing huge parties and giving away massive amounts of food, drink, and goodies.

If you want to foster this tradition, throw a party.  At your house.  At a street corner, At a party room.

Celebrate birthdays, badges, achievements and Nothing At All. Throw a party for giving away Shiny Objects, or cubimals, or emblems.

We have always had this tradition, but it's not so obvious these days.  Be loud, be proud, and invite us all.
