  • GOOO!! Newbies... :D..

It's nice to be new and achieve something...think if you were new.. If it was me..It would definately make me smile to achieve something like this.. :D

  • I am really glad you made this one aimed at newbies!  I think that's terrific.  I typed up more, but really, that sums up everything I wanted to say.  :)

  • I'm not sure that this is aimed toward newbies as much as it is aimed at getting players to explore the world as we now know it before some big change occurs.

If you read the blog post, this Feat is part of a larger series of feats they are calling an "Epic".  This current Epic is called "The Penyahatewan Assembly".  Very interestingly, the description of the Epic includes the following:

"Each time a disturbance causes the minds of the Eleven Giants to drift apart, the world they imagine when they come back together is somewhat different than it was before. Some "glitches" are to be expected."

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm interpreting this as the world is going to be reshaped or "reset" (OMG PANIC!) in some way.  Otherwise, why are the rules of this Feat that the only QQ's which count are the ones you get from visiting new streets?

I think some exciting, larger scale changes are ahead!

  • Ok I've just found today's 5 QQs - no notification of any feats. Should I have done something to switch on the feat?

ETA ignore me - I've just visited the feat page and my contribution is there :)

  • Does anyone remember what the minimum requirement for this feat was?
Posted 62 days ago by TomC Subscriber! | Permalink
  • i think i remember it at about 13k qq's....i *could be wrong* but that number stands out in my head.
Posted 62 days ago by kepi Subscriber! | Permalink
  • yes, it was a bit over 13k
Posted 62 days ago by Green Meanie Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Nice feat. For people who have explored a bunch you can also get a bunch of QQs from the cards
Posted 62 days ago by Kanzid Stonebreath Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Kanzid, the blog post said "found by normal means" so I don't know if the card-induced QQs will count.   Staff, can you verify this?
Posted 62 days ago by katyroo Subscriber! | Permalink
  • QQ's from cards and repeatable quests no longer seem to count.
Posted 62 days ago by TomC Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The larger goal is going to be tough this time. At this moment only 49% of the goal has been achieved but there are only 10 hours left.
Also, most newbies have already explored all they can.

What I mean to say is that older players getting even their 5 Quoins may make the difference here. You may not personally win anything but you can help the collective win.
Posted 61 days ago by capodistria Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I had somehow missed the fact that there's a 5-quoin limit... so I learned something already!

My two currants... I think it's neat that this quest actively favors newer players. And it's ESPECIALLY great that there are so many Glitchen running around in Ur!
Posted 61 days ago by Georgia Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It would've been more fun for all players if the five-random-qqs-per-day limit had been lifted for the duration of the feat.
Posted 61 days ago by glum pudding Subscriber! | Permalink
  • You dont need to play the conch, or even have it on you. you just need to complete that quest before you can do feats
Posted 61 days ago by Muncey Mango Subscriber! | Permalink
  • So are any of these Feats going to be done when people that work during the day will be able to participate in them?So far every single one has been started an completed within normal business hours.
Posted 61 days ago by Disturbed Subscriber! | Permalink
  • So I've just spent an hour running around all the new islands I hadn't got around to visiting yet.
I now have Kloro, Haoma and Balzare completist and all the QQ that go with that...
only to find I needed to play the conch first. :-(

I've completed the donation quest and am currently waiting for 'The Last Pilgrimage of Esquibeth' quest to trigger.
Presumably though, even if I get this silly conch all the quoin's I had collected today will not count towards the feat? :'-(

  • For those of you who've been playing awhile: if you explored Bortola, Tamila, and Alakol before fox brushing came out, you might want to check whether you have visited all the fox preserves there- each of them has a QQ for your first visit too.

  • I actually wanted to do this feat on my pre-existing alt, because clearly I could have done much better with my less experienced account. But I hadn't done the quest that gets you the ability to do the quest you need to do to do the feat! (lol)It's not cheating to do that, guys. We're allowed Alts. You would just need to keep any profits you made from the feat within that account and not trade them over :)  Posted 9 hr ago by Biohazard | Permalink

There's still nine hours left. All anyone needs to do is donate just one item to a shrine to start Respect for the Beginnings, then donate a total of ten more things across ten other shrines, then currants for half an hour while they wait for Esquibeth. Buy a camera and some spinach and maybe some coffee and you're all set. Maybe forgo a level of Animal Kinship for Teleportation 1.  You also get this friendly reminder in your inbox from the Glitch support team that they are watching your alt account's every move.  :)  Now get moving, everyone, I want to see just how qurazy the Supermega goal is.

(P.S. if it's not okay to post to the forums from an alt account i'd be happy to repost this from my main character if asked)

  • Another tip: Check out the exploring achievements page in the encyclopedia (http://www.glitch.com/achievements/exploring/) to see what completist badges you're missing and get a clue where you might have unvisited streets (this is how I figured out I hadn't visited all of Salatu and Sura yet...)

  • Disturbed, this Feat isn't really over yet. The minimum requirement has been completed, but the bonus requirement is only just over halfway and the superbonus isn't even unlocked!
Posted 61 days ago by TomC Subscriber! | Permalink
  • This may sound like a weird request, but I feel that when unlocking the basic goal the progress bar liquid should be green, but when unlocking the supermega goal, it should change to yellow liquid. I was a bit confused by "Basic goal achieved! Complete the Bonus goal to unlock the Supermega goal!" because the liquid was still green. I'm weird, I know, but maybe changing the color will help differentiate which goal we're currently working on.

  • Can we have otters in the game instead of feats?
Posted 61 days ago by Bexatious Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I've only been playing for about a month and am still learning the culture and etiquette, but why is the creating of alts discouraged? If it is only because of the reward transfer issue, wouldn't another solution be to bind feat rewards to the character who earned them?
Posted 61 days ago by azzmatik Subscriber! | Permalink
  • azzmatik, creating alts is not discouraged, but using alts to gain extra items and transferring them to your main account is the issue. Binding feat rewards would limit the ability to sell or trade feat rewards to other players.
Posted 61 days ago by TomC Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @tomc and limiting the ability to sell or trade feat rewards is bad because...?
Posted 61 days ago by azzmatik Subscriber! | Permalink
  • azzmatik, well since they are collectible items, presumably some people would like to sell them for profit while other people would like to purchase them for their collections?
Posted 61 days ago by TomC Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The instructions don't mention a single word about having had to play the conch at least once before participating in this feat. All it says is collect QQs. Period. Although anyone who participated in the last feat has certainly done that, it might not be so clear to newbies.
Posted 61 days ago by Colette Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I agree Colette that the Feat text should include a short sentence or two with prerequisites for participating for newer glitches.
Posted 61 days ago by FlatEarther Subscriber! | Permalink
  • TY devs, for giving us a Feat that takes enough realtime that everyone around the world would have a chance to participate. Appreciate that you keep listening to us players and getting us things with our ideas in mind : )
Posted 61 days ago by ~Alice~ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I would think that selling feat acquired items for profit would be as negatively perceived, if not more, as giving them to a main. The plus side would be everyone is encouraged to participate as a n00b (ya know, for the greater good) even if your main character is old, crotchety and mildly ocd (but who isn't?)
Posted 61 days ago by azzmatik Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The Bonus progress fill is now Purple!
Posted 61 days ago by TomC Subscriber! | Permalink
  • TomC - nice!
azzmatik, just play a little longer, you'll learn :)
Posted 61 days ago by Muncey Mango Subscriber! | Permalink
  • TomC there is also still 4 hours in the regular business hours for the east coast an was 7 when you posted your reply .... An also this Feat was directed towards newbies if it had been where even the vet players who have already gotten there complete list of streets could get more then just there 5 Quarazy quions then this Feat would of been completed within a cpl hours long before people who work day jobs in America an Canada could of even came close to participating in it.Just like the first 4 they did.Just saying itd be nice to be able to participate from start to finish of one now an then.
Posted 61 days ago by Disturbed Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Everyone is saying that they can only contribute 5 QQs but that's not true Only 5 per day yes but I've managed to rack up 15 towards the feat and every little helps :)
Posted 61 days ago by Lloer Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Bug, I think: I'm pretty sure that I collected somewhere between three and five QQs during this last game day, but only two counted on the feat page (my total jumped from 59 to 61 and has not budged, and I waited about an hour before posting this, just to be sure that it wasn't a lag issue).

  • Disturbed, if a feat was set so that people in the US could participate from start to finish, it would be a given that people in other time zones (yes, we do in fact exist, and the internet is populated by people who are not American) could probably not at all. If the whole thing was after US business hours and over quickly enough so that US people could do all of it, it'd take place slap bang in the time where decent Europeans are sleeping; if it was so that Europeans could do all of it in the evening, it would have been in the middle of the day for US people. As it is, no one who needs sleep within a day can do the whole feat, but everyone who logs on during this day can participate. Isn't that better than allowing just people from one region in, just to allow some people to do the whole thing? Particularly as many of us cannot do that anyway because we are limited in our coin collecting options.

Games and websites that like having an "international" community but then do things that make it clear that that mostly consists on allowing others to share the space really intended for the US people are quite common; I'm glad that TS is trying to do things differently.

  • Disturbed: This feat started at 6pm Los Angeles/Vancouver/San Francisco time and that's 9pm in Toronto, New York and Miami. For about 70% of Americans and Canadians, it was at least 8pm when it started. How late would it have to start in order for it to work out for "people who work day jobs"? It seems like if it was much later, it would be bedtime!
Posted 61 days ago by stoot barfield Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Wow, that means it started at 3 AM my time - so doing it later and shorter would practically guarantee close to zero European and African participation.
Posted 61 days ago by Not a Princess Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I had better win this thing.
Posted 61 days ago by shhexy corin Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'd better get that forcefield finished. Shhexy corin's gonna blow up in oooh, about 4 more hours or so.
Posted 61 days ago by ~Alice~ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • c'mon people! move it! you can eat/ sleep/ work/ take care of your children later!
Posted 61 days ago by yeahshur Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Not a Princess: Each one lasts 24 hours (not coincidentally, the same number of hours as in an earth day), so no matter whether you're in Cairo, Jakarta or Santiago, you'll have an equal amount of time to contribute.
Posted 61 days ago by stoot barfield Subscriber! | Permalink
  • We all seem to be locked out of the game. Will the feat timer be extended by the amount of downtime? The counter isn't going up, so I'm quite sure it's universal.
Posted 61 days ago by Biohazard Also Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'm all for another hour or 6 on this timer
Posted 61 days ago by lol bored Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Well we would have made it, is the thing. At the rate we were going, we would have only needed an extra 30 minutes or so, and the rate should have gone up a little bit because of the new day making well-explored Glitchen able to contribute a little bit extra. I was pretty sure it was on track.
