The references thread

I have read that the names to some streets and other aspects of the game are references to other things in real life. Explaining them might ruin the joke, but I feel like I am missing out because I don't know enough about american geography or history to get most of them

So this is a place to compile them and maybe explain them for us foreigners??

  • Huh, I didn't think there were too many explicit references. I certainly don't think there's a great deal of American geography you should worry about...

A couple I can think of, though, are:

Burnabee (Burnaby is a suburb of Vancouver, where Tiny Speck is based)
Louise Pasture (a play on the name of scientist Louis Pasteur)
Hayden Seek Alley (Hide and Seek is a child's game)
Verdant Green (it's a tautology of sorts, verdant is another word for green)

I suspect there are a few Estonian locations in there (a couple of devs are Estonian). But honestly, unless I'm missing something major, I don't think you should worry that the game is stuffed full of cultural references that you don't get.
