Previously, when you entered a new map, say Groddle Forrest Junction, all objects needed to be loaded (even if you just went to another map immediately) from the GFJ_location.swf, this contains things like the background, rocks, flowers (as stoot said). What's more, you the client could only load one at a time... which means map transitions are at the mercy of your bandwidth and time to download each new location AND you needed to redownload everything again (even if the trees were the same) as the GFJ_location.swf is different from your next map choice.

With client-side rendering however, there is less load on the servers for starters, which is awesome for nail biting admins such as myself who hate server-side renders.  My understanding of this change is that the location.swf files are now in smaller chunks and load on-demand, thus requiring less bandwidth from your client browser (more streaming and less downloading). So, now there'll be something like trees.swf and flowers.swf and background.swf... When you transition to another map, you may only need to request the background.swf as the trees and flowers are the same "object types" as the previous map AND you have that in your browser cache already.

It "should" also reduce cache requirements as the smaller chunks of swf data can be better reused (same bubble, bean, egg and/or fruit trees and flowers for example).

  • Aww, that's too bad, but the game is well worth the delay. Hope Stoot and all of the other ailing devs get to feeling better. Thanks for giving us all a wonderful place to play, and for caring enough to get things right!

  • TS devs, if I could make you all chicken soup and bring you endless rounds of Caf-Pow, I would, I totally would. Since I am not there, I am offering up some tips for making homemade chicken broth the down/dirty/fast/easy way.  Plz forward to all personfriends, spouses, partners, and posslq's, pssslq's, etc...

    1. use this recipe.
    2. Even faster/downer/dirtier/just as deliciouser:  Buy a rotisserie roasted chicken at the grocery.  Use those vacuum boxed containers of chicken broth, but add the juices from the rotisserie chicken container. BAM: homemade chicken soup.

  • Thanks for the updates stoot...it really makes it bearable when we know what is going on...even if we are a bit grumpy from lack of glitch... (psst, take these...hands stoot enough Olive Leaf Extract to cover the staff...best thing for a cold/flu)

Happy BDay to the players who are getting an extra special present tomorrow.

Hope we'll get an update as to approximate opening...morning or afternoon tomorrow, so we can plan our schedules around the game.

  • Thank you c0mad0r for answering my question. It makes sense and I look forward to not having to wait 1-3 minutes for a new street to pop up. That time lag takes a real toll when traveling in the ancestor lands. :)

  • Instead of offering home remedies (if they worked we wouldn't need drugs) I'm offering every glitch employee a free box of Sudafed. And Starbucks. :D
