Move that stuff to the side <----------- or even -------->

So, you want to work with one type of object from a vendor, or want to organize a recipe for some tasty pasta.

You have all this random crap in your bags, and want to sort it out, without having to move every thing to the right or left individually.

This is where the (insert verb) comes in...

You click on a bag where you want to "pull" everything near to, then you select, Left or Right, and from there, you highlight (or just skip to highlight?) up to what bag you want have it's items pulled from. This way, with highlighting, you won't just move your crap from your toolboxes.

Whatever you needed for your recipe, just put last, pull everything over, and then just shift it to a separate bag if you want.

Special SFX? lol

One con I see, is that you'll have to have a specific bag setup, but that would be it.

Questions, comments, concerns? If you like/hate it, etc, please leave a comment, hehe...

  • Love it! We definitely could use an easier method of sorting items en masse.

  • I would be happy with any sort of bag organisation: something that just tidies it all up,  or automatically drops certain types of things in certain bags... the only thing that's improved is the search

at the moment bags are only fun if you're OCD and enjoy being so

  • It would be nice if naming the bags caused them to take specific items. For example, I have a bag named "veggies." Any veggies I purchase or harvest should automatically go there. If I label a bag "mining", any chunks of metal, sparkly, beryl or dullite should automatically go there -- whether I mined it myself or purchased it at auction.

There would probably have to be standard naming options for this to function, but you could still name a bag anything you wanted -- you'd just have to manually organize/control it. We already have elemental pouches, tool boxes, alchemistry kits, and spice chests that accept, and attract, only certain items.

  • Since we're going to be crafting stuff soon though, maybe we can just craft special bags that have the auto-sorting thing. With more color/style combinations as well hopefully. But yeah, +1 to any form of auto sorting. I may be willing to once in a while have to go to a certain NPC who'll do the auto sorting for me and pay for the service. Like an obsessive compulsive ghost.

    [Edit]
To expound on the bag idea, either bags with a specific design can be crafted to hold specific items, or those bags change appearance based on what's inside, with a more general filter (and would thus require, say, emblems to a related giant to bless that bag); for example, mining sacks (standard burlap if filled with mixed ores to maybe shiny sacks for shinies, green for beryl, an additional mini jewel case on the side if there are ambers, diamonds, etc), egg cartons (with different designs based on the type of eggs inside), paper bags (if it only has vegetables), pumpkin basket (if candy), and so on.

.. yeah. I tend to go overboard. Sorry :p

  • +1 Rook...organizing bags item by item takes up a huge chunk of time. Love it!

  • Yeah, tools for keeping this organized would be great.

  • I'm not sure I grasp the concept very well before finishing my coffee this morning, but I love the idea of any tool the help organize inventory!

  • + a zillion. My bags...they are filled with a hodgepodge of random bumpf that is decidedly unsorted. Some easy form of organisation or autosort would make my little heart go 'thump'.

  • I don't quite understand the action you're describing.

Are you talking about highlighting multiple items and moving them simultaneously? If that is the case, YES, YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES!

  • Yeah, I have read this several times now today, and can't seem to get my head around exactly what you are describing.

But it would be cool to have more granular controls to bag interaction, so keep it up!

  • -I'll give a visual for everything but the needed workaround.

-KM, I think he meant highlighting bags but the items would move.... although checking off items is not a bad idea...

    The Problem
    Solution:
    Step 1
    Step 2!
    And Voila!

  • If you can even believe it, your photos made it less clear for me.

I guess I just can't wrap my head around the idea...

  • Look at the bag fractions. That's how it made sense to me :P

  • Any specific thoughts on the idea, rather than just organization in general?

  • It just dawned on me what you must have been talking about. I was really hyper that day so I went overboard.

The move everything to one side idea is great. Simple as it is, it would save a lot of time and a lot of mood loss. :D ++!
