Spreadsheets 2.0 The ENTIRE catalog UPDATED WITH NEW TOOLS/NOTE POLE

Spreadsheets 2.0 on Google Docs

That right there is a link to a set of spreadsheets that covers every craftable item in game. If someone had actually told me how long putting this together would have taken I might not have done it. >_< I have NOT included fuel costs YET. After working on this solid for 3 days I need a break. I will include fuel costs in the next revision.

With it on Google docs you can view it as is with it showing the item break down for a single instance of each item but if you actually click FILE and then DOWNLOAD AS you can save it to your computer and then open it and change the values in red on each page to however many of each thing you want and then the breakdowns will recalculate to show you the new totals.

I do have the original Excel file of this myself and would be willing to email it to people but it'd be the same thing as just downloading it from the Google Docs in Excel format. Hope you guys like this and get some use out of it. Please reply to this post with any suggestions as to what you'd like me to add (aside from fuel costs since that's already in the works) or changes you'd like me to make in future versions. And feel free to pass the link on to whomever else you think might need it. I know not everyone reads the forums.

Ok that's enough outta me. Now to finally get some actual playtime in! lol

  • An Excel spreadsheet would be good for use on a work computer that blocks Google Docs...(and Glitch, and the wiki...)

  • I can't tell you how many times I've had to switch back and forth between the construction tool and the woodworker after I forgot how many posts or beams to make. Thanks for your work--this spreadsheet will save me a lot of time. Bookmarked!

Edit: Duh! Download .pdf . Darn new-fangled technology.

  • So any suggestions as to what I should add for future versions? I'm hoping to include a line to also tally up the energy/fuels costs per individual item created. I will also include information as to what skill/achievement you need to make each item.

  • Quick critique:

Occasionally (most notably in the tinkertool section) you've listed certain ingredients twice. I understand that's because there's multiple subingredients that use the same base ingredients to make, but don't you think it'd be better to condense them into a single entry?

PS. I've done this pretty much exact thing in my own general Glitch spreadsheet. I can appreciate the effort you've put into it :D

Got an idea for an extra I can make for it. ~collaboration~

  • Someone needs to use this to make a better crafting calculator. All the ones I've tried aren't very helpful.
Posted 7 months ago by La Mariposa Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Negata: It's more so to show that it does in fact take appropriate account of every sub ingredient. The end tally does condense everything back up. I needed to make sure that all the way along, the numbers were lining up until the end step where the condensing is done in one go rather than being done earlier where I could wind up messing up the math. It was much simpler and more accurate to do it this way.

Merth: That's actually one of my goals for a longer term project. Sort of a "Grind-O-Tron" for everything.

  • Glad to see it's still getting some use. =) I do intend on adding fuel/energy costs to this but I'm still working on my giant collection of SDBs and getting items to put in all of them first. That was the whole point of why I made these sheets in the first place. Heh. Once I'm done with that I'll go back and revamp these into at least a "2.5" version if not an entirely new version number.
Posted 7 months ago by Fauxfire π Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I've updated the link to the newest version of the spreadsheets. I updated the construction tool and tinkertool sheets to have the note pole and new axe, shovel and spindle.

  • Absolutely fantastic. Thank you!

  • I've not forgotten about this. So here's my current ideas for expanding these a little. First plan is to incorporate energy/fuel costs and adjust the way snails come up. I'd like to have snails break down further into how much materials it would take to make enough rods to get enough snails for whatever it is that is being made. In cases where you need less than 8 snails I'll have the default be one rod since you can't feed a partial rod.

Later I'm going to completely revamp how I'm doing the formulas. Currently all the formulas that do the calculations are on the same page as the informative columns. What I'd like is to have the formulas on their own sheet and only have the output on each page. That will hopefully make it more difficult for people to accidentally break them by overwriting cells.

Also I will change how things are displayed. Right now if you want to make say 2 wall segments, it will only tell you how many total planks you need. That's great but what about when you get enough planks and actually sit down to do the actual construction? How many total posts do you need? How many total beams? Etc. Putting the formulas on their own sheet will allow me to take that into account sooner so that all the columns will update and not just the last.

However that's going to be a long time coming as it's going to entail pretty much a complete do-over. But I wanted to let you all know where my thoughts were in case anyone out there had some suggestions as how I could improve these and make them even more useful to you all.
