The Glitch Market Auction Helper

Hello fellow Glitches! Are you tired of clicking through 3 pages just to post 1 auction? I certainly was! That's why I made a tool to speed up the process. Let me know what you think!

Go to glitchmarket.com and click on the link titled 'Try out the new Glitch Market Auction Helper!'

There is a bug with posting items that have charges! The tool goes through your inventory from left to right posting the items as it discovers them. So if you have an item with less than full charges, make sure they are in a bag that's further down than the items with full charges you are trying to post. I'll fix it as soon as I can.

This tool does require write access to your Glitch account. If you want to revoke access to this App, you can head over to http://www.glitch.com/apps/ and manage which Apps have access to your account.

  • Looks good.  One question: is the "recent average" the average of recently *listed* auctions, or recently *sold* ones?

  • This worked as advertised.  Very nice!!

  • Unfortunately there is no way to determine the difference between an auction being cancelled and an auction being purchased by someone, so it has to guess. The recent average is based off of the auctions that it thinks were purchased over the last 7 days.

  • Thanks, WalruZ. I'm guessing that most of the people that use the auction system a lot have their own method of doing this, but I had a lot of fun making it!

  • Is there only 3m worth of goods on the auction? That's rather low.

Someone with a bit of money and time on their hands could easily buyout the whole market and resell it at the vendor for a slight loss rendering the auctions useless. Actually, I wonder what's the differential between the market value and vendor value.

  • Most items sell at the Tool Vendor for 80% of the base cost. That's one of the reasons I put that value on the tool when you click an item. I really thought that the 80% was going to be temporary, but it doesn't look like they're going to change it. Most other MMOs have the vendor price a lot lower than what people are willing to sell their items for.

  • And after the 100 auction limit change, there have been a lot less auctions up. Two months ago the average active auction count was around 7-8k.

I'm aware of that. What I meant is what's the value of all the items on the auction if you were to sell it to the tool vendor.I'll probably code something later to find out.

  • It looks like you would lose quite a bit. I don't have an accurate list of what items the tool vendor will buy, but all of the auctions base cost adds up to 1,823,948 currants. But I'm sure if you didn't buy all of the overpriced items, you wouldn't lose all that much. A lot of people post auctions for a good amount less than what the Tool Vendor will pay. I actually used to run a script that would buy all of those items, but it got old pretty fast. I still have around 3,500 empty messages in my mailbox that won't delete for some reason... And I'm pretty sure it's against the ToS. I think I made about 500k from it. Don't ban me, I don't do it anymore!

  • I would just like to say that for some of the items I sell this thing is a real convenience.  Bump!!
Posted 12 months ago by WalruZ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'm glad that you find it useful. =) And thanks for the bump. You got a few more people to use it. I'm working on a couple of changes and some new nifty stuff. It's quite fun. Do you or any of the 10(ha ha) people that have tried it have any suggestions?

  • I just added some new info.

  • This is awesome, thanks for making it!
Do you think it would be possible to do a similar thing but for buying?

I buy more than I sell, and often want to buy a whole load of diamonds or similar, but the constant back and forth is a chore, and with a similar system could maybe be overcome with a single purchase all click?

  • Pretty cool tool, I think I'll be using it more.

As for suggestions, when posting an auction I'd like to be able to put in a currants per single and have it derive the cost per stack from that.  That would be very nice, and a more accurate listing of cost per single on auctions you look at (beyond the first decimal place).

It would also be great to see price history of items but I imagine that would be a bit complicated and require a lot of DB work.

  • @Malero -- that form of arbitrage is specifically promoted by stoot as valuble part of the economy. Now, using a script to by hundreds of auction items en masse is likely against the TOS, but the basic economic practice is not.

It would be nice if the tool had an easy way to view the underpriced items though (aka sorted by PPU), so our click-to-buy would not require purusing the list manually.

  • Love the site. For a suggestion, being able to put a random "value" for a +- on the price you choose would be amazing. For example, if I picked 450 currents with a random value of 10 it would post all of them randomly between 440-460. I may have explained it wrong but something like that would be amazing!

  • @Mr LaserExplosion The Glitch API does not support buying items. I have a script that can do this, but it requires your account email/password. I personally wouldn't put my email/password into any 3rd party site like this, so I will probably not add this feature.

@Chee42 I'll work on that this weekend

@Sturminator Yeah, so I was hax0ring. Oops...  :(  I think I will add a 'Great Deals' page where it displays all of the under priced auctions.

@Ramus I think I understand what you mean. So if you wanted to post 5 auctions and have it randomly post the auctions for 100-120 currants, you would put in 110 as the stack price and 10 for the +/-? I don't think I would use this feature, but I can see people using it if they don't like undercutting. One of my characters on WoW is named Undercutter. ;)

  • This really is a great tool. Already posted about 400 auctions with it! Thanks for your hard work on it. :D
Posted 12 months ago by Koftun Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It's kind of sad, but the 400 auctions is from everyone that has used the tool. I just started tracking posts yesterday, so it's probably a little off.
Posted 12 months ago by Malero Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Well, it felt like 400 of mine. lol. Thanks again, love it.
Posted 12 months ago by Koftun Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It's starting to get more popular... 460 auctions posted with it in the last 24 hours.

I added the currants per a unit feature. =)

  • Nice tool, Malero. I've been using it quite a bit, esp. for multiple stack auctions. I like the color coding on prices for mine, below, par, above base value. Helpful. The other thing I like a lot is the lo/med/hi demand note. Is that # of sales, and what makes medium demand? From what I understand you can't actually tell when an auction has sold or whether it expired/was withdrawn, correct? I'd really like to see some sort of history of sales, even volume, but hi/lo sales would be nice too. Thanks for your work.
Posted 12 months ago by Pancito Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Pancito Yes, you are correct. So there is really no way to calculate an accurate demand for all of the items. And on top of that, my method of calculating it is not that great. It basically orders all of the items from 1-477 based on the average time the auctions were active. It updates all of the auctions once a minute, so I'm sure some auctions aren't even being seen...

If anyone would like to explain the best way to determine the demand, I will try to implement it.

  • Just a bump in appreciation. I've also been using it just to see what is actually in my inventory... %)
