Fast learning bonuses

How exactly are the fast learning bonuses applied.  I  know that if I take an essence of yellow crumb, I'll accomplish 20 minutes of learning in 10 minutes of real time.  However, what if I drink a Pungent Sunrise while under the effects of essence of yellow crumb?  Does the fast learning bonus stack the same as qouin multipliers, eg muching a yellow crumb flower and drinking a pungent sunrise accomplishes 3 minutes of learning in 1 minute of real time (Atleast while both bonuses are applied), or does it accomplish 4 minutes, doubling the double?  Lastly, if I get a time qouin while under the effect of fast learning, is that time affected by the bonus as well?  If only I was a time lord I'd already be done learning the new skills.

  • I had the same questions, and have not been able to get a clear answer.

  • Well, it's complicated.

At least for emblems, they stack in the sense of -- if you spend two, you get twice the amount of sped-up learning (in a row). Pretty sure the same thing doesn't apply to crumbly thoughts.

Can't stack essence of yellow on top of emblems (i.e., if you've maxed out on emblems, can't drink essence).

But it appears that pungent stacks on top of  emblems. But that's an expensive way to get sped-up learning...

  • Well I have discovered one additional piece of information.  Apparently buying brain capacity upgrades does not affect a skill you have already started learning before the purchase has been made.

  • As far as I know, there is not really any "fast" learning, but rather when use "20 minutes fast learning" what really happens is that 10 minutes are subtracted from the ending timestamp. Nothing really stacks, e.g. you don't get 800% "learning speed" if you use 3 items, but you can drink a potion (say, for -10 minutes) while also hitting a shrine (e.g., -20 minutes) and burning an emblem (e.g. 14 minutes), meaning you finish the skill 44 minutes faster than otherwise.

  • Phineus, maybe that's a bug? I dunno, just thought I read something like it was a bug, recently.

  • @ Phineus  I noticed the same thing.  I upped my brain capacity and didn't notice a change in learning speed.  As diaveborn ♥  stated ~ I wonder if it is a bug?

When I see my regular skill page it says Potionmaking III will take 30 days however when I actually click on the skill to learn more about the skill the pop-up says 26 days.  Hmmmm....

  • The buying brain cap while learning and not getting the increase is a bug that the devs thought was fixed, but apparently isn't, according to posts elsewhere.

Also Sturminator has it right. When you drink/spend points/drink essence/spend an icon/whatever, it just subtracts the time off, you aren't "learning fast" for a period of time.

Best way I've found to knock time off skills is to donate to the main giant for what you're learning and the two "sub" giants every game day you possibly can until you hit your max time off (you can cut learning time in half, but no more). So PMIII says it will take me 11.5 days, but it will really only be 6.75 once I get going on donating over the next day or two.

(And don't donate all the way up to an emblem - donate as close to full as possible and then spend the points - you take off SIGNIFICANTLY more time that way.)

  • Depends on how many favor points / emblem (early on I don't think that's true), but basically good advice.

However (NERF alert!) currently pungent sunrise and skill learning coins can take you past the half-way point.

  • SchWM - you're probably right if your max favor is lower. Mine's been north of 2500 (into 3k for some giants) for a while so sometimes I forget what it's like to be a babyGlitch (tm).
