Best choice for subscription

I realize there are many old threads about subscriptions but they refer to beta players so I thought it wise to start a new thread.

I purchased the copper subscription in early september but I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the Moly was really the most reasonable choice.   My reasoning when I bought the copper was that there was no way I was going to play so much as to need all the tp tokens in the moly subscription,.  Now I realize that I need those tp token in order to REDUCE the amount of time I spend playing the game.  :D
You don't pay an energy penalty when you use a tp token (as far as I remember) and the energy price of tp'ing keeps going up the higher the level you achieve in the game.   So unless you want to walk everywhere after you are at a high level.....moly seems to be the way to go?

I can't really see much of any benefit to purchasing the basic subscription, unless you are really into those "subscriber only" wardrobe items.   You could get a basic subscription and then buy credits on top of that I suppose.

Am I correct?  Or did I miss something?

  • Well, there is the subway for those who don't want to walk all the way across Ur.

There's a limit on teleport token use each game day, 5 uses, IIRC.  So subscribing doesnt give you unlimited teleport.

  • Well a game day is short.  I could accomplish a lot in a short period with 5 tokens plus one energy .    The subway is fine if you were smart enough to get a house near a station.  It still takes time to use the subway.   After a few months of this, walking to where I need to get to is going to very boring (some of the new players are saying it is boring now).   Riding the subway is going to be even more boring.   I figure if I want to make efficient use of my time, and not have all my real life time gobbled up with a game of walking around...lots of tp tokens is the way to go.

My goal is to spend not more than 10-15 minutes per game day, while still advancing and not limiting myself to boring activities like mining, nor getting overly obsessed with current earnings.

  • you missed something.

i checked your profile and it seems you have not learned Teleportation 4 yet, which grants a number of free 'map teleports' each game day.

if you learn that skill, the importance of teleportation tokens decreases dramatically. with Teleportation 5 it decreases even more.

  • You might consider investing in a house near the subway.  Over the long term, it could save you a lot of time, even if you do have teleport tokens

  • striatic:  yes, I forgot that map teleports were free.     In beta I had two per day.  I forgot they were free.

There goes the extra money I was going to give to TS :D

well I still might.   How do the summons and scripts work?  I never got to play with those in beta.  If I want to summon a friend (and have the skills) can I use tokens?

  • winborn:   the lofts near the subway where I live sold out fast.    Might have to go to a different region.  Also, the standalone houses require you to enter the house streets.  All that takes time.  I like the lofts.

  • I think you'll find the stand-alone houses are actually no harder than apartments

    apt building/elevator/home
    street/block/home

  • "well I still might.   How do the summons and scripts work?  I never got to play with those in beta.  If I want to summon a friend (and have the skills) can I use tokens?"

i forget. you can just use energy though, it doesn't require much. you can only do it twice per game day though. you can use tokens to do it more often but .. eh .. if you are going to do it more often than that, you can start mailing TP scripts.

now, i forget if a person needs the teleportation skill to use token-less TP scripts .. but with penpersonship and TP4 you can write TP scripts and they will work even if they haven't been "imbued" with tokens. you can mail those around, or make one for yourself for every single region you visit. they're pretty great and reduce the need for TP tokens even more.

between un-imbued TP scripts and map teleports, with a very small amount of forethought you can eliminate the benefit of teleportation tokens almost entirely. so much so, that you probably shouldn't consider TP tokens more than a very small 'perk' of subscription. it's the clothing credits that hold the primary value.

  • Thanks.

It would be nice if you could summon a new player.   There is the possibility of tp'ing yourself to where they are and then they can follow you as you tp back to your house.    I think they can tp with you if they are following.  Not sure if they need tp skills to do it.

  • You CAN summon a new player, with TP5
