I'd like to share a firebog house; may I buy one for you?

I'd like to work on my herb-tending skills, but I love living in Bortola. I could create an alt to herb garden, but that doesn't seem nearly as fun as sharing a firebog house.

What you get: 7,500 c to buy a house in Chakra Phool near the subway.  Occasional deliveries of spinach or Awesome Stew, whatever's growing at my house. An Egg bean or plant, if you want (if you want to skill up by planting, I don't want to steal your fun).

What I'd like: access to 6 of your 12 herb plots, for tincturing and potioning.

Sound interesting? IM or mail me: all reasonable offers considered.

  • The other alternative would be to create another account with another Glitch and give that one another kind of experience in Glitch.
That one could have the firebog house and take a different path through the game, then they could share stuff.
    It might be fun!

  • Are there really 7500c houses available?!

  • Cassandria, you're right. I'm not discounting that path entirely, but I've had a nice time playing as Cantaloupe, so rather than split my attention (because I am on here a lot already), I thought this would be a nice way to get a taste of both styles of house.

@Liz Erd, there are tons of nice firebog houses available, including some 7,500c ones; I have a lovely property open in another browser tab right now :)

  • I can share my swamp house with you.  Give me about four hours from now.  Have some yellow crumb flowers occupying all the plots atm.

  • @Caveat, that sounds delightful - thanks! I'll be on later today and we can work out the details.

  • Cassandria, isn't that close to breaking the T's and C's of Glitch? I thought it was one account per person. You cant have two glitches on line at the same time.
Edit: yes.... Multiple accounts controlled by one person playing at the same time is not allowed. copied from: www.glitch.com/guidelines/

  • You can have as many accounts as you want. Just don't play with more than one at the same time. It is not allowed and it makes no sense. There are other ways to exchange money or items. ;-)

  • jiva, playing at the same time is the operative term here. I believe it has been within the community guidelines that you can have "alts" as long as you're not simultaneously logged in more than 1 character at a time. Playing one, then logging off, and logging on next of your alts as far as my understanding goes is acceptable play style.

  • Been condsidering a firebog house, but couldn't decide which one. If you tell me which one I'll grab it, & you can pay me back.

  • Right now, herb prices are crazy high because of the new skills.  Considering that herbs only give 1-2 per crop and can only be planted in swamp houses - I don't see their prices going down anytime soon unless the devs increase herb yields (drastically) or allow herbs to be planted in crop gardens as well.

For example, - 12 herb patches will only give 12-24 herbs, perhaps a bit higher with super harvests.  Tinctures require 4 herbs up per.  Not only are tinctures useful by themselves - they're required to make potions.

Since, alts (logged in one at a time) is apparently 100% okay, I think it's probably best for people to get an alt just to buy a bog house, especially if herb yields are to remain in low single-digits.

  • Caveat Emptor, take into account part of the herbs you have to shuck to get some seeds back to replant.
Posted 13 months ago by Heatseeker Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Indeed, that makes the yields even lower.  You will need at least 6 seeds to shuck to fill 12 plots.  Probably more since you'll probably won't be able to shuck 2 seeds per herb every time and there are times that you won't get a seed at all from shucking.

Unless this is intended to encourage players to get alts for bog houses, I cannot help but think that herb yields will be increased soon or all gardens will made to support both crops and herbs.

  • Caveat, I can't help but agree with your assessment; I really wonder about the quality of gameplay in a world filled with alts, so I'm not going that way, and I hope others will pursue partnerships and other creative solutions.  OR, that TS will adjust herb planting!

  • " I really wonder about the quality of gameplay in a world filled with alts"

Yeah, me too - I've been really surprised to see that the whole getting-an-alt-for-double-gardens thing has been such a non-issue, as it seems rather unfair to me to have a second character to get around in-game design choices like one type of garden per house, not to mention the strain it puts on the housing market.

  • Alts for more gardens? Why not use a community garden? Also, I have one house... and I am about to find a roomate to share 6 of the 12 herb spots... ??

  • Finding partners to rent / share some of the herb spots is the way most glitchens I've spoken to are heading. Getting some neighbours within the same block to share their garden is definitely possible and one determined enough can quickly get more supply than they know what to do with.

It does take the willingness to collaborate though, and a bit of trust on both sides.
