Do dropped items eventually evaporate or something? I realize people find stuff, and some things respawn in special places. But if nobody finds or wants an item left on a street, does it go away after a while?
They stay there until someone picks them up.
There are rarely any unwanted items in Glitch.
One man's garbage is another man's treasure,
and seriously, you can always just toss it in a shrine
(Glitch's trash cans as some call them)
If you get a cup of water from a bureaucratic hall and then drop it, it becomes a spilled cup of water on the ground. These will disappear after a while (to prevent deliberate littering of Ur!). I think there may be one or two other special items that disappear on their own, but I can't recall what.
I drop things all the time. Intentionally. Usually it's behind something else. I know plenty of others who do the same, as a way for another player to have the equivalent experience of finding a penny on the ground*.
* sometimes it's planned as much more than a penny experience.
Lilith, you're not crazy - they changed it so that notes don't go *poof* anymore over a year ago, but there was never any official announcement of the change. so this isn't a myth so much as an undocumented feature change that resulted in some very long-lasting confusion!
Speaking of dropping things, thanks to all the folks idling in Cebarkul the last evening who didn't pick up my mistaken drops. I leaked about 50 stacks of seeds during my time with the vendor, and thanks to the fact that dropped items are locked to the dropping player for a certain length of time, as well as the fact that no one tried to take advantage of the situation, I managed to pick up ALL 50+/- stacks and sell them as intended...so...thanks, whoever! :) (Remember kids, don't shuck and chat at the same time. :P)
KitchWitch: Yes, I learned that after someone told me they lost 50k currents in seeds by shucking in front of the vendor. I now shuck at home in case I leak!
