I have installed the debugger version of Flash but it does not seem to be working - I get a basic error message saying the above and suggesting I install the debugger version.
Maybe proxy, maybe firewall (or possibly anti-virus software) … one way or the other, you are not able to reach the game servers over port 443 (e.g., gs4.us-east.ec2.tinyspeck.com:443).
For better or worse, being able to use 443 is a requirement for connecting to the game: hopefully there's a way around that for you (like creating an exception for 443 to/from tinyspeck.com domains).
Ok, update on this - I am at work and managed to get into the game on the PC. When I tried the Mac I got the same message as already posted, which seems odd as the port must be open if I can play on the PC.
Now, the only difference I see is that the PC is logged onto the network at startup, and the Mac just connects and gets on with it.
I have tried both Chrome and Firefox on the Mac, neither works to let me into the game :( I know that others use Macs, so I do not think that is the problem.
Ok, I have done a bit of investigating and testing - the Mac still does not let me play the game though I can upgrade the skills.
I tried through Mrs riscy's PC on the same server - no problems. Also when I try the PCs at work, they work ok. When I chatted to the IT guys, they said that the ports are blocked in the hardware (the port is obviously open for the PC, though), but for the Mac, it gets rejected for some reason.
I think that is an identification issue on their server - the PCs all log in using ctrl-alt-del to get recognised on the network - the Mac does not, it just connects to the proxy without authentication, then the browser asks for the network pwd.
Any ideas? I was going to ask the head of IT about the setup here on Monday, but there are language issues and I do not know if it is worth the hassle for another 6 weeks here.
