What type of player created business/networks you would like to see in glitch?
I'm just trying to feed some of the creative minds that live in here, it's something that brings more joy to the game and it's definitely something I love to do.
Individual vendors - whether on a marketplace street or a vendor machine
- food/cafe/caterer/bartender/etc
- furniture
- fabric
- machines/tools
- basic commodities
Art museums - whether personal or public
Interior design/landscape designer shops - to help that average glitch that couldn't design their way out of a paper bag...if only they knew what a paper bag was...
marketplace places! the last few twitches to the buy/sell systems seem to have intended to encourage direct player interactions. there could be a designated area for people to trade certain items. spice palace! the piggie trading co! water merchants! the crimson caravan!
i hear collective buildings are the next coming-up-thing, which might be to that point
More glitch generated buildings :) Natural is awesome and beautiful and I wouldn't trade some of the views in Aranna for anything, but more urban stuff would be cool too :) Houses are too... Singular. Just one per glitch, per home street.
I have a feeling group halls will satiate this to some extent if/when those show up, but I hope we can build other things on a more individual level :)
I like harvesting/crafting everything that I need, but would probably also find it fun if I had to track down some of it through other players, especially if their business showed some creative thought and effort. Throw in fair prices and I'd gladly return there rather than use auctions or vendors. A few examples of businesses that I would like to visit or maybe even run myself sometime:
-Bar: for quick mood boosts, games, hanging out, maybe some gambling?
-Farm: animals, produce, seasoned eggs and hatchlings
-Toy/Collectible store: for trading, browsing, dreaming...
-Plant Nursery: for beans, seeds, flowers, guano, ferts
-Furniture showroom: see how that couch looks in a test room before plunking down the credits for it myself
-Basic resource wholesaler
-Travel Agency: TP's to tours of unique places, DNA and Ghost tours, taxi service
-Shrine/Icon places of worship
-Herbalist-Shaman-Healer
-Alchemist
-Home Improvement Store: building supplies, fuel, contractors to estimate jobs and bring the resources for you to complete project
Each skill specialization offers a lot of opportunities. It'll be hard to stick with just one permanent choice so I'm hoping that we keep all of our learned skills, if only for the option of changing one business out for another from time to time.
I have a cafe in my house already, you can IM me when I'm on to check it out. It's called Board and Blender and features easy-to-make food and drink items. There's also a separate playroom upstairs, if you need someplace to leave your glitch children :D.
I'm hoping to see more of that sort of thing myself. Like, I tend to only use coffee I purchase from Carl Projectorinsk due to its undeniable superiority and full-bodied taste.
I'd like to see a court, not with the idea of policing other players, but with the idea of debating stuff in the Glitch world. Like misbehaving piggies or whether there's weather. That sorta thing :)
A long time ago someone suggested a library, complete with reference librarians as a source of information about Glitch. It would be great if Live Help and Greeter folks hung out there.
The other business I'd like to see is the coffee shop/town square/bar where you could always find Glitches interested in Serious Conversation about Important Stuff.
And, in the far far future, a modiste who can help put together that fetching wardrobe with you, perhaps getting the colors just so. The almost-but-not-quite color matches in the wardrobe set my teeth on edge.
So, resuming some of the nice ideas I saw here so far:
Bar/coffee - a place to hangout have nice talks, drink and eat.
Travel Agency - TP's to tours of unique places, DNA and Ghost tours, taxi service.
Fashion/Decor - styling help for home or clothes.
Gardner/farmer - Help me plant my yard with trees or populate it with animals.
Grocery - easily get your basic resources.
Library/museum - a place to store player created books and some kind of art.
I have often said that there should be a bar at every subway station in the game. A place for a mood boost on the way home, or to hang and see who else comes in. Businesses operated from houses don't have the same ubiquity. One harder-to-implement idea for that would be drinks sold at a discount provided they are consumed on the premises.
Once snap storybooks are implemented, I plan on opening a comic store with new issues available weekly by myself, and by others should they choose to contribute:)
That's true in a general sense. There aren't all that many 'destinations' in the game other than the tool vendor in Urialia. Places you can go where you can assume there will be other glitches there for some common reason. I wonder if the minigames might not be more successful if, instead of spread out over various streets, they were all clustered on one specific street somewhere, like Gregarious Grange.
I'm still waiting for a fish market, and a harbor, now I think on it ;) We need water! We need Water! We need Water! (Saying it three times makes it happen, it's like the Wizard of Oz.)
I'm down for all of these great ideas. I hope to be able to expand our streets more and have more than one building on them. Maybe each player entitled to their own storefront, home and a storage building.
