Tell me tell me tell me!

So, as a new player who hasn't gotten the opportunity to play yet, I'm feeling pretty excited as the days pass for another test to open soon. I've got a good feeling that the game may open up again sometime in the next few days. Maybe even tomorrow!!

Soooo to pass the time, I'd like to know what everyone is looking for in an MMO. What types of activities do you like to see? What kind of options do you like to have? I wanna know everything!

I'm looking for a social MMO that lets me own a home and decorate it. I'd like to be able to farm (I'm a huge fan of the Harvest Moon series). I'd like a world where I can explore and find new locations with rare items! I want to be able to craft things and build things! And I love a game where I have emotes and actions my character can do. I prefer a 3d environment with either 3d or 2d characters. I don't want to be a hero or a special thing in the world. I don't want to feel as though I'm somehow above the world. I want to feel as though I'm a part of the world. An active participant instead of an all powerful...er...not participant. I want a tight knit community with community created events that I can be a part of if I choose. Just a place online that could be like a virtual home. A fantasy escape from normal life without all of the hard wired rules that are typically seen in online games.

Andddd I'm pretty sure Glitch has all of these things ^^

What about you??

  • Yeah, sounds like you found the right game for you. :3

For me, I've played a lot of competitive, PK (player kill) MMOs, where you had to work fast and know what you were doing, otherwise you were dead meat. I couldn't keep up with it once I started college, so I had to quit entirely. Now I just want a game that's slow-paced, non-competitive, and won't fault me if I don't log on for a few days because of school. Because my best friend introduced me to MMOs so we always used to play together, it's a huge perk for me that we're playing this one together as well. (:

  • Nayme-Welcome. I suggest you look through the groups and join a few. Glitch Addicts, Tiny Speckles, FS Refugees &Friends are just some of the fun loving groups I belong to. Search through and find your own happy place.

As far as game mechanics, I think you will find many of the things you are craving are in place here in this game. Check out the blog at glitch.com and the wiki strategy guide. Also the FAQ group here has several threads to give you some helpful pointers on various topics. But sadly, we can not decorate our houses YET, unless you count dropping your inventory of onions and music blocks as decorating :)

  • Im right there with you Milx. I used to play a lot of different MMOs but now that I'm in my final year of college, I don't really have the time to stay at competitive levels. I like the idea of just a small, fun place to log into when I want without the pressures of making the level cap.

  • 1. "I'm looking for a social MMO that lets me own a home and decorate it." Check! Although for the moment "decoration" is limited to storing your things. I remember seeing that real decorations will be rolling out eventually.

    2. "I'd like to be able to farm." Check! As long as you have a house with a garden. It also wouldn't hurt to learn some/all of the plant-related skills to better your harvest.

    3. "I'd like a world where I can explore and find new locations with rare items!" Check! There are all kinds of things to find randomly.

    4. "And I love a game where I have emotes and actions my character can do." Check! If you want more than the four basic emotions, all you need is an Emo Bear.

    5. "I prefer a 3d environment with either 3d or 2d characters." Checkish. The environment is a 2D side-scroller, but the beautiful art in the game more than makes up for all of that. Have you seen the gameplay yet?

    6. "I don't want to be a hero or a special thing in the world." Check! We're all in it together, working to improve, expand, and just enjoy what's been thought up by the Giants for us. :D

    7. " I want a tight knit community with community created events that I can be a part of if I choose." Check! There's always player-run events going on. Usually at the end of the tests, there's a party to celebrate. I would suggest joining this group if you haven't already, and that goes for everyone who want to participate in some way with the parties.

Sounds like this is your kind of game! I can't wait to get back in and enjoy it again!

  • Thanks @That Kid Tyler!

I have seen some of the gameplay videos and such and I've grown to accept the 2d side scroll environment. I played maple story for a while and had a good time with it without the 3dness. I've just been spoiled is all ^^

I just can't wait to try it out. From what I've read and seen by surfing the various forum boards, this game got everything and a bag o chips.

  • Now all there is left to do is:

Real world "relax" until tomorrow, as I have both days off work.
Glitch world "panic and freak out impatiently" until tomorrow when the game reopens.

  • That's what I'm doing! And then, after the weekend of glitchyness it's back to school, start new on campus job, and first day of rehearsals for A Midsummer Night's Dream (where I shall be performing in the role of Fairy number 5 heehee)

  • Welcome Nayme!!!  I think you'll be very happy here... In fact... there's a bit of Midsummer here I believe. :)

  • Who doesn't love a bit of Midsummer in their lives! Also, you should all fly down to my city on June 11 and come watch me perform in a one act play about a kid jumping into a rift in the fabric of the universe!!! I actually have dialogue and stuff! You guys got the time and money to do that, right? The show is free!! (Jokes!)

  • I love the glitteriness and fantasy of Midsummer. :D There's a film in "my community" called Were The World Mine that has sort of an interesting take on it, ahaha.

  • Welcome Nayme!  It seems like this has 90% of what you are looking for with more (decorating our home) promised.  This is only my second MMO.  I refused to play anything where I died, anything I owned died (animals) or I had to kill someone/thing.  If you have a few extra minutes.  Go to the Glitch Wiki.  Right on the first page is a great article for those who haven't played yet.  It can be a bit overwhelming.  But FUN!
