Restricted sale of seasonal items in SDBs

Based on my own recent unpleasant experience, I have to suggest there be some (or more?) restriction on the sale of seasonal items in players' SDBs. Here's what happened:

  • I entered a player tower and spotted a Lem Pumpkin. Having never seen one or experienced a Zilloween, I had no knowledge of the item other than my first impression and the encyclopedia entry.
  • Being suitably impressed, I decided to buy the item. My own decorative Lem pumpkin: how delightful!
  • Immediately upon purchase, I received a stack of roasted pepitas. Surely this must be some mistake!
  • After sharing my new-found horror in live help, it was explained to me that this was a feature of this apparently seasonal item, and that there was no recourse available. My currants were gone, I had no pumpkin, and none of these facts were going to change.

So, to repeat, I'd suggest there be some restriction on the sale of seasonal items in SDBs. If it were common for SDB purchases to deliver unexpected (and subjectively worthless) items rather than the item they display, no rational person would buy from one.

  • Sounds to me like one shouldn't be able to put carved pumpkins into SDBs in the first place.

  • One might want to "display" a carved pumpkin in an SDB, but I agree they shouldn't be sold out-of-season.

  • The pumpkins were likely set up to sell during the ZIllowe'en period, and now the sdb owner can't reset the sdb without destroying the pumpkins inside.  It wouldn't be possible to set them to sell after ZIllowe'en ends, so I don't think that this is an issue of intentional asshattery.

Although you can move them without destroying the contents, it's tricky to drag them without bringing up the menu (which is what destroys them).  To prevent future sales from happening, the owner might consider moving them behind a piece of furniture where they will be hidden from interactions, or to place a large wall hanging object in front of the sdb so that unsuspecting young glitchen can't accidentally buy a pile of pepitas.   Next season, remember to turn off the selling before the season ends!

Personally, despite the problems and the issues, I hope that they continue to allow the display of carved pumpkins inside sdbs.  My Zille appreciation room would not be the same without it!  I can live with the delicate state of affairs.

  • Adding to what Scarlett said...the tower owner can't even collect your currants because to do so would bring up the menu and destroy them all!

Also, please please, TS let us keep the carved pumpkns and jack-o-lanterns. In any case just turning them into pepitas when removed but letting us mess with the menu to be able to stop selling.

but yes, unfortunate, maybe leave a note w/ the owner's butler. They may not have even considered that someone would buy them out of season as last Zilleoween was before new players. Maybe they can try to lock a note near the SDB as a warning.
