My opinion and some thoughts. Also question.

Hi everyone, I know these 'opinion' threads are getting repetitive, but I want to share my opinion too and maybe get some answers.
First of all I started playing Glitch a few days ago, charmed by the idea, by the bizarre visuals(I like this kind of abstract/grotesque/unique visual style in most things) and the Idea of changing world. Well, at least that's what I thought before playing for a few days. I know there's a lot more to the game but everything is a bit dissapointing to me, though the game is fine by itself, I enjoy walking, jumping, grinding(who would have thought? But I really like grinidng in some games, in this case it's really addictive for some reason), BUT, today I asked myself a question - what for? I know there's no some major target of this game, I fully understand it. Though this game has to have some kind of well, things to strive for. For example(and this is the question) I mine. I mined some ores, I'm going to learn refining, elements, etc. But I read wiki and...well. It seems that you Mine ores->refine them or smelt them->get elements-> and...nothing? You can do absolutely nothing with elements? Or so says the Glitch wiki. Enlighten me. I thought this game lacks such things as builds, gardening and CREATING YOUR OWN THINGS in the persistent world. I thought there wouldn's be 4 or 5 trees on the whole area and they are as they are, no opportunities to enlarging the location with more...things. Why can you buy a house but not build it? Sure one can gather enough ore to build or at least create something, right? I know this is not minecraft or terraria or harvest moon(I played many other games, I have games to compare glitch with but still I think every game is as it is, I don't want to compare), but some aspects like at least building/creating are some kind of neccessary in such game i guess. Seriously, if this game had terraforming and real influence on the world - It would've been priceless for me. But maybe what i want here is just impossible and too much ;_;
All kind of answers are welcome, I do not pose my opinion as one and only possible, I may change it. And it is still only my opinion.

  • Mine ore --> grind --> elements --> test tube --> compounds --> baker --> powders.

    This is for mining. Nearly same is for cooking and drinks skills. I still do not see any real point in herbs, but alot ppl find them fun, because if their effects.

    Some people like to mine, other to cook, make drinks, wander, play games, fight rooks, open streets and participate in street projects, chat, die and afk in hell...

    You can even make your own fun. I really like to walk around in a mummy mask and talk mummy stuff to other players.

    For me Glitch have no purpose which is great. You have no predefined way, no predefined skills to develop. I play this game to relax.

  • You can also use elements to convert plain metal ingot to more valuable ingot using the alchemical tongs.

  • And with ignots to make tools with tinkering.

  • Street projects are the spice of my glitchlife. Very fast-paced, communal, big rewards. The time limits of beta testing actually made game play a little more fun, to me. When projects come back I'll be stoked to play more.

  • Also we have (I think) the promise that this is only the beginning.  The ability to create and build many more things is in the future - it just ain't here yet.  The only unknown is how long it will take for the things we've been promised (and the things we have no idea of) to become part of the world.  I'm sure Tiny Speck is aware that the game as it exists right now doesn't offer a lot after about level 25 or so.  They have a big challenge to grow the game rapidly enough to keep us all excited about the latest additions and eagerly awaiting the next ones.

  • Remember, the game is growing. Features will be added and added and added. The plan is for the game to by dynamic not static.

    Houses for example: Yes. Right now you can only buy houses and not change them. But they are ABSOLUTELY working on it. (It has been stated it is one of the first big things they are planning for after launch... so "soon™.")

    And some things are dead end. Bricks for example. They are CURRENTLY no useful except for donating and selling or in street projects. But they were introduced for a reason. I imagine we'll find more use.

  • I agree to alot of this.

    What I really find they should develop, is to be able to do more quests involving your friends.

    Except for doing some races, there's not really much I can do with my friends when they are online, except for chatting.

    Although I haven't played it myself, I hear from people playing games like World of Warcraft, that one of most fun things about it, is being able to join forces (although there is no such thing really as forces in Gltich - and it should stay that way) in quests and go on adventures together.

  • "Mine ores->refine them or smelt them->get elements-> and...nothing?"

    You can use test tubes to find compounds, and beakers to create special powders out of those compounds.

    "this game lacks such things as... gardening"

    Do you have your own house yet?  That makes gardening much easier to accomplish.  You can garden in community areas, but other glitches may take what you've grown, as some people specifically grow for those who cannot do it themselves.  Of course, when you get a house you have to choose whether you want to specialise in crops or herbs, as no houses have both types of garden.

    "Why can you buy a house but not build it? "

    I believe the ability to build your own house is coming, though I may be wrong.  Certainly, the ability to build group halls is coming.

    " if this game had terraforming and real influence on the world"

    Have you experienced street projects yet?  This is when a group of glitchen get together and build an entirely new street.  I am guessing you won't like the fact that you can't choose when to start a project yourself, but you may enjoy the feeling of accomplishment when you've all managed to fulfil the requirements and you have a whole new place to run about in.

  • Thanks for replies, everyone. I'll try the Street Project when I can, and wait for more. I know the developers are working hard on this game, and I really appreciate and support they effort, I hope to see this game grow in content even larger.
