What happened to Neva Neva?

I had been away from the game, and returned about a month ago (shortly after the big update), and the last time I was in the game, I was in Neva Neva. So, when I returned to the game I started in there, with no one but me there. I thought, well it's probably nothing and went on.

And ever since then, I didn't have the courage to ask what happened, but I can not hold any longer:

Why the heck is Neva Neva a deserted place now?

It used to be swarming with miners, but now no one goes in there...

What happened?I can make theories about the new home system, how one can go to his house instantly from anywhere now, or other theories but I cannot quite connect the dots...

Help.

  • Someone let off 147 stink bombs in there, so it sorta blew everyone out.

Plus the invasion of Furries.  I can't talk about it any more than that.

  • And killer bacon came in and took everyone in there hostage...it was a horrible day. For them. I just ate them.

  • People still mine in there, was in with some people 3 days ago. I suspect people are still busy with housing and finding the new seam streets and such.

  • To be honest anyone can have as much sparkly/dullite/beryl as they like roaming the home streets or visiting the designated rock home street resource routes.  I rarely see anyone on my travels now unless I visit the Groddle Areas.  I feel like I'm the Queen of Ur wandering my streets after the apocalypse.  The remnants of the past blowing gently through the leaves.

  • Lol good answers, thank you!

I guess new places and opportunities (home streets etc) diminished the importance of Neva Neva and the teal white key...

Oh well... I'm still there for a while.

  • There are also fewer people playing right now than there were when the game was out of beta, which made the existing mines less contested even before home streets.

  • Don't complain about the lack of people. You will regret it when they open the game back up and you can't even get one hack on that sparkly rock.

Anyways, I absolutely hated the way Glitches tried to run that place. I must mine what they mine at the same time. It got on my last nerves. I much enjoyed myself when I was there alone the other day. Sparkle rocks were all mine and I could mine which ever rock I felt like mining.

  • Well, Eye, some people like to mine together and those are great places to do it.  Not excusing the rudeness but explaining why I can't, personally, understand why someone would go into a crowded locked room and expect to mine in a solo fashion.  But of course the arguments have been argued and the points have been made five thousand times in previous threads.

Berke: The home streets do provide a great amount of all your resource needs but there is something to be said for cooperative mining in a central area, if you like that style. So I hope Neva Neva and Ajaya Bliss pick back up later :)

  • I continue to chuckle at the 'there are fewer people now' argument every time I see it in the forums...I swear, since the updates, I have more of the folks on my friends list playing now than they were previously to include just after launch.  I might agree that overall there are fewer players than the crazy influx of newbs right at launch; however, the core players seem to be coming back in droves as far as I can tell...I just think there are SOOOOOOO many cool things to do, folks aren't just mining anymore...and many of those that are coming back...don't have a need to mine since they already have plenty of currants to do what ever they desire since there are still few currant sinks in the game.  Mining gives good iMG but it also drains on the mood...which reduces the amount of iMG you get overall...so I think folks are finding actions that are mood boosting and iMG producing when they are out and about...mining isn't that activity currently.

  • I like  teleporting to places I haven't been to for a long time. I think I'm seeing more of Ur, even though I spend a lot of time at home.

  • In recent months, Glitch has opened up a wide range of new things for people to do and to sell, particularly stuff used in making furniture. I think a lot of the past crowding around sparkly was driven by a desire to make alchemical powders and crystalmizing chambers, which could be sold for a lot of currants or donated for a lot of xp. Now we have lots more ways to get currants and Img, so the crowd from the mines has dispersed to other activities.

I have had a lot of fun recently mining in AB or NN with a small group of other players. We mostly mined together, reaping huge bonuses, but had no reason to care if a few solo miners were on different rocks. When there is enough rock for everybody, and nobody is trying to boss other people, it is very pleasant.

When the crowd gets too big, tho, each rock vanishes after you get just one whack and most of your time is spent looking for just one rock at a time to respawn and get mined. That's not much fun and not as efficient a way to fill your bags with sparkly as quietly roaming multiple elsewheres in Ur.

  • b3achy, I wasn't saying there are fewer people since new housing and imagination, I was saying there are fewer people since delaunch.  I agree that there's been a reinvigoration in the past month or two, but that's necessarily limited since there's a throttle on new people coming in.

  • It's because Ajaya Bliss is MUCH cooler than Neva Neva.

  • 1. because people can cultivate sparklies in their own front and back yards now.. and 2. because we're in Beta and there's just not that many players around in the whole wide Ur yet.  Wait till the game re-releases and all the friends I've told about Glitch come pouring in.  ;D

  • It's because of the sparkle route. Tons of home streets with multiple sparkle rocks waiting for the pick.

  • The relative value of other activites has risen relative to mining, and compared to the value of raw chunks.

Its not nerfed really, just no longer the Easy button for Glitch.

Edit: I disagree that the housing routes come into play here -- I think NN/AB still rule supreme for mass mining.

  • I think I'd prefer a resource route or even just my own /home to a big community mining thingy, BUT I do know that there's a lot of appeal in the community mining *experience*, all the fun togetherness and stuff. :)

  • +1 Diaveborn

Maybe it is empty because the whole point of going there is to get the benefits of cooperative mining.  But if there is never anyone in there to cooperate with, then why go back?

That's too bad because I used to meet so many really nice people in there. It used to be a lot of fun.

  • I once found someone in Neva Neva, it said his name was gollum and mumbled something about a precious. Then ran away with a dead fish in his mouth.

Haven´t been there since that and I think I never will.

  • Although for some it is nice to mine in hoards, I prefer to mine with just one or two people. Thus avoiding the locked places. Much easier on my nerves. And like b3achy, many many more of my friends are playing than were before. Even some that hadn't played in quite some time.
True, few, if any, new people are being allowed in. That is a good thing for now. Perhaps when the time is right, TS will open up the invites so the trickles can begin before opening up to the masses.
I also avoid Neva Neva, not sure if the guy mumbling about his precious was safe to be around. (I have his precious and don't want him to know)

  • I'm with Eye Wonder; NN got a bad name because of a few petty tyrants. There are plenty of other streets where people mine cooperatively without nastiness.
