  • This below... please no. Say this isn't so! I love when i go to a new street and seeing "First time here"and then the XP earned... LOVE it... wait... I MEAN I LOVE IT! MAYBE IT COULD DROP A BIT AFTER A CERTAIN LEVEL BUT IT SHOULDN'T BE GONE COMPLETELY.
YELLING IN FORUMS IS KINDA FUN.

.....First, no more location XP after level I forget which.... Posted 2 days ago by Mac Rapalicious | Permalink

  • You get XP for the first five hundred streets you visit... though I'm not sure why it stops there, since going to a new place should logically count as a new experience.

If the level-up currants are going to appear less frequently, I hope the amounts will be higher.

The Glitch economy is completely unrealistic (unlimited numbers of perfectly-made products created with nothing and available at all times, no taxes, no employment, natural resources which fully regenerate every few minutes, etc.), so there's no need to worry that it's going to collapse. :)

  • Wait no more exploration exp after a certain level??! That makes mister cake sad, because he likes to explore and likes to get rewarded for exploring ....

Mister Cake doesn't care if its a big reward it is just nice to get a little something for something me was going to do anyway.

  • i don't have enough money, so i think the rich glitches should give me welfare money to level things out.  please consider this.  i think you dev's are the greatest and i wish there was a shrine for you so i could donate part of my welfare money to it.

  • I guess I'd better get that no-no powder and seed production facility going at my house in order to make money...

  • So thats why I  am so broke?

I've been working on skills so have to donate to all the shrines to learn faster by working in the salt mine.

Leveling up is too easy but making currants is hard to get when you spend your game time either growing/shopping/making food or mining for the giants.

Maybe my focus will  have to change from working to manipulating the market, earn currants and buy stuff to donate to hasten the learning skills.

    Interesting.

  • I'm glad to see that Stoot is intending to change this and try other things. That said, I would still like to get some of my own opinions on this subject out in the open:

I knew that those few people complaining that they have too many currants would end up leading to something bad happening. Please don't make currants massively more difficult to obtain just because a few squeaky wheels are irritated that they have to much. Most of us wheels are fine-tuned and well-oiled, and have a good balance of currant intake to outtake. We don't yell about it all the time because there's no reason to yell if you're happy with the way things are.

I am level 41 and currently have 78,000 currants. That's alot for me--usually I hover around 50,000 because I spend as much as I earn, and sometimes I dip down to almost nothing because I made some big purchases, and I have to save until I get it back up to safe levels. The only reason I have more now is that I just learned all the skills and now I'm selling the music blocks I find rather than donating them to shrines to speed up learning.

People play differently. Some people purposely acquire stuff they don't need and sell it at auction. Those are usually the people that complain they have too much money. Others (like me) don't find that to be fun at all, and wouldn't want to be forced to do it. When I'm gathering resources or making food or powders or something, I'm doing so because I need them for something. I wouldn't be wasting my precious time on it otherwise. I only ask that the devs keep in mind that people do play differently, and make it so the game remains interesting and fun to all the different types of players.

  • One more separate point that deserves its own post:

There really needs to be more incentive for leveling up in this game. For some people, leveling up is a goal and they play games specifically to do just that. Right now, here are the pros and cons of leveling:

    Pros:
    1) Bigger energy tank
    2) Currants and giant favor rewarded at each level

    Cons:
    1) Teleporting is more expensive

That's not a good ratio. I'd be fine with removing the currants if other rewards were given, such as special quests that are given at particular levels, like every 5 or 10 levels, or every prime number level if you have to :). We need something to work towards.

  • just wanted to add that i'm now down to 28k, and i think i'm at level 36. this makes helping people out a little more difficult, although i guess i could go all the way down to 0 currants.

of course i'm aware of HOW to make currants, it's just not what i want to do. i want to learn skills, i want to help people, i want to build streets, etc. money making is WAY too close to real life.

and i love shepherdmoon's point. the higher energy is HUGE for me, as is the currants. the giant favor, not so much.

  • I am nearly always low on currants. I use them for a lot of things. However, I can and do find it easy to make them when I feel like it. But...I don't always feel like it! :) The leveling up currants were a nice incentive, although sure, getting a bit too high, even I can say. I do find it a bit strange that leveling is now being disincented...the higher TP costs, no currants, no XP for streets over 500. What's that about? Before that, it seemed as if a lot of people *could* play competitively if they liked, happily...and people could play just to wander about and enjoy themselves. Now it seems as if we don't want the former. I actually enjoy BOTH. I love to compete (though honestly I'm mainly competing with myself), but I also really love to help out, and I do that in a variety of ways. I'm just not sure I like seeing the compete aspect so damped down. I love zeeberk's idea a LOT; I also like the compromise of getting some currant rewards for the quests/badges, especially the more difficult ones (seasoning 2,003 eggs and beans comes to mind; holy freakin' cow I'll be seasoning in my sleep soon). Thanks for at least considering more tweaking, stoot!

  • The game isn't about currants, its about what you do with them. Having a few to spare is not a bad thing. Two months ago, as a lower level newb, I had a treehouse in GF which I had been gifted by Pinkey. Last month, ghost777, a complete stranger, offered me 30000 currants for a house in Alakol, which I bought and very happily moved into. I mined my little butt off to pay her back in 3 days so that she could repeat her generosity to another player, plus I mined some spare for paying it forward. Meanwhile, I gave my GF treehouse to AlliexPaige with a 7000 currant gift to remodel and improve at her leisure. Two tests later, I received a note from jmc thanking me as he had moved in when Allie moved up to a boghouse. Without so called "extra" currants, 3 newbs wouldn't have received such a pleasant welcome into Glitch. These actions are repeated many times per test by many different players who imagine Glitch as a world where givers outnumber the hoarders. Please reconsider the level bonuses being taken away.

  • Agree with Dagnabbit! I'm new here, virtually broke and feeling my way through the game. I don't know how to manipulate the game to earn or steal large quantities of money in a single play, and while my friends are generous, I don't want to take advantage. Those level bonuses help with quests, so unless you don't require a new tool, instrument, or machine that must be purchased from a vendor, limiting the bonus so low (level 20?) could be unnecessarily difficult to grow in the game and complete quests.

  • I've recently passed lvl20 and personally don't mind. I'd say somewhere around 20 was about the point at which I found I always had ample currants for anything I wanted. Having said that, I'm sure I could be spending more and I know other people play the game differently and may have more need for the leveling-up bonuses.

Having said all THAT, I'm bouncing out of my chair at the thought of Shepherdmoon's suggestion. YES YES YES YES YES... bonuses on every prime number. Totally in keeping with Glitch's quirky nature. Stoot - PLEASE make it so! That gives you 17 bonuses between 20 & 100... so about once every 5 levels.

  • I'm fine about the level currant removal. I mean, I cook a lot, and occasionally I go and run through the mines and on average, those trips got me about 15,000 currants each. Though it did take away some of my will to level, and my anticipation of the currant injection.
