They cost so much and we get so many doubles, triples, and quadruples of ones we already have.
It would be great if they were auction-able or at the very least, donation fodder.
Also, it would be nice to set down a cubimal and be able to race it several times without having to pick it up. This would make it more like a "race" if the cubimals could be placed side-by-side, instead of waiting for the text about how far it traveled to determine a race winner.
Assuming that group halls are open to the public, it would be nice to have the in-game materials available to make a cubimal racing track. A group of Glitches could set their cubimals in slots and they would all be automatically started at the same time and raced down the track. Glitch grandstands could hold the spectators. Perhaps you could train, tune or otherwise tweak cubimals to improve their racing ability. Glitch touts could circulate taking wagers. Winners could show off with a nice fat Rookswort cigar. etc, etc.
Cubimals purpose is to be a currant sink. They're to drain excess money out of the economy, to keep inflation from becoming a problem. IMO that is all they are for, but they're also collectables.
Well, with Beanie Babies, you could see what you were buying before you bought it.
Sprinkles - I had the same thing happen, except I got four Chicks out of 4 boxes. Nevermind the fact the first and prior four boxes had three Chicks in them!
>_<
Sell them back to Toy Vendors (prices based upon rarity)? Grind them into elements? Break them down into grain? Use them in a new cocktail/drink?
IDEA: A "Cubimal Slammer": 1 ice, 1 hooch, 1 Cubimal (any will do), 5 mangosteens and 5 spinach. Blend until smooth. Gives buff for cubimal racing.
If we could sell all these excess chicks for, say, 50c, it wouldn't keep me from buying more and more boxes; it would save the floor space in my house that's slowly becoming a carpet of Cubimals!
I was just thinking about this today. I don't want to be able to sell or donate but i would like to have rewards for collecting lots of one kind. a badge for each of 100 (or 103) of each kind. I really don't wish to sell my commons for such a low price as 300 currents so I keep them. I'll sell the semi-rares to help out others, and the rares I don't have multiples of so no issue there.
It would be fun to have some game to make use of a hundred chicks.
Extra emblems used to be useless before they were put to use increasing learning and earning icons.
On the other hand, adding some value to common cubimals may be something not for TS to do but for the community to do by inventing games and/or innovative uses of the common cubimals
There should be sone way to remove the excess from the game. I have ended up passing them out for free only because I don't want my house to be overrun!
Perhaps a special cubimal vendor where you could trade in 20+ commons for an unopened box?
I like the idea of a cubimal racetrack with organized betting/winning, maybe as a special party room!
I buy 10 cubimal boxes a day, and sometimes more for statistical purposes. I have cubimal bags named 'pigs 1' through 'pigs 3' so I have somewhere between 32 and 48 pig cubimals alone. Recently I've started making starter packs for new collectors to reduce space in my cupboard. As much as I find it amusing racing a plague of frogs or a swarm of fireflies, I too wish the cubes had more function.
@Crashtestpilot: Inflation happens any time there is more money than goods in a market. More money chasing after the same amount of goods --> inflation. The fixed prices distort this, but don't change the issue fundamentally.

The example of extra unwanted cubimals people have mentioned in the thread is an interesting game aspect. There are some 'permanent' items for which there is no established way for them to exit the world. Bags and other containers for instance. They can't be sold to a vendor or donated to a shrine to make them 'go away' and they are generated by the system any time a player purchases them from a vendor. Anybody who has had to move and wanted to 'condense' their property down to that which can be carried knows what I mean. The only choice is to abandon or give them away to others. That's a good thing as it promotes sociability. But eventually everybody will have enough bags and we might reach a point where it simply won't be worth it for new players to buy them. There are probably other examples of items that never leave the game that I am not thinking of at the moment. Spice Racks, Element Bags, Cubimal Cases are a few. Right now nothing that is a 'container' can exit the system. Can cubimals be donated? I've not tried myself.
What about ... if you assemble 100 piggy cubimals, you get PIGTRON, a bigger piggy cubimal? Or a stuffed piggy, like an emotional bear, or some other equally improbable toy? It could be just as "useless" as the cubimals are, but it would be a prestige item for those who have taken the effort to assemble the collection.
It would be even neater if each kind of cubimal gave you a different kind of toy when you assembled a large enough collection of them. Like piggies give you a PIGTRON but frogs give you a leaping wind-up frog toy, and so on.
@ Parrow Gnolle: Yes, you can donate away your cubimals, but you don't get favor for them.
@Scarlett Bearsdale: I love your super-cubimal-transformer idea! It would increase demand for commons.
I predict with the coming of Group-Lands, Custom Homes and new skills, soon there will be a skill to teach our Cubimals to do chores like plant/harvest our gardens, pet/water/harvest our tree's and even crush our rocks leaving us more time to socialize and enjoy Glitch.
I, too, would love race tracks for my cubies! How fun!
I agree that it's frustrating to open lots of cubimal boxes, only to find a lot of repeats. My solution to this was to not buy unopened boxes any more. I only buy opened ones. I figure the money I spend on acquiring the more rare ones was more than saved up by not purchasing 90 boxes to try to get the specific one I wanted.
Actually, Vermillion has sold me several! He's awesomesauce!
