Additional animals ideas

I love the piggies, chicks, frog, batterfly and butterfly, but it seems a little weird that these are the only animals the Giants have thought up. Lets help them along by thinking of other animals that we can interact with.

I know some glitches already want bunnies and honey bees (or bears!). Personally I would like to see more of those squid/octopus things. They could give out ink/syrup from hugging them. Syrup to use in cooking and cocktail crafting.

I am curious to see what my fellow Glitches can think up.

  • goats, frogs, fish, birds, bugs. Before the EOTW, I asked on Global Chat if there were honeybees to make your own honey. They said no. I couldn't believe we have honey but no bees. But then again, maybe the bees wouldn't give honey because chicks give grains not eggs.

  • True, we might have to get honey from bears.  Or badgers!

  • Cuz they don't give a... well, y'know where I'm going with that.

  • Can I have a miniature giraffe?

  • Sheep! Sheeeeeeeep!!! But alpacas or bunnies would do. They all give off fluff. And you could do a lot of stuff with fluff. :)

  • It may be tough; could you do enough stuff with fluff? Maybe there could be a buff, so it's not so rough.

All that's just off-the-cuff- I really don't want any guff.

  • You needn't be gruff! I could make me a muff and clean off a scuff and then I would shuff...le off in my duffel coat.

  • Sounds like a lot of bluff... a lot of huff-and-puff.

  • Wish I was eating plum duff.

  • In all seriousness, it's a pretty good idea to have the ability to spin/weave/knit/etc... spiders? :)
Posted 15 months ago by Djabriil Subscriber! | Permalink
  • So you want to have silk to spin, but spiders are all crawley and poisonous.

Goats on the other hand just kinda smell, but if you milk them you can make spider silk!

There is even a video about it from the NSF no less.

So maybe goats for silk - for threads - for cloth - for flags - to distract the rook(s) whilst we stun it/them ;p

  • Maybe you could get other things from spiders on top of silk- say, tree-poison (or component materials) could be gotten from spiders as well.

  • Silk in my goats? Surely you must Kid. Silk making goats +1

  • Waiter...there's a spider in my goat!!

No pun intended, here, but there have been a few threads about bees and sheep and similar, too.

  • Sheep should give spun sugar that you can use in recipes (because they look like cotton candy - maybe they can be wistfully coloured as such). Honey could come from bunnies (that's super cute).

  • How about mice - we could startle them to make them drop cheese?

And every so often Mouse ears?

  • I like the idea of getting honey from bears. They could have similar options to the crabs. Like you could tell it a joke or tickle it to try to get honey, and also have some "negative" options (like the "insult" option with the crabs).

There could be raccoons in the forest areas who function similarly to the Juju Bandits.

And there could be fainting rams in the mountainous areas. You could have a "spook" option that makes them lock up and fall over, lol.

  • Well, if we have honey from bears...

    Why not nuts from squirrels?

Plenty of big tree's in Groddle Forrest and Salatu for there to be a plethora of squirrels!

  • Everyone knows that if you "play dead" for a bear it gives you Salmon.

  • I would suggest beavers, for two reasons. 1) beavers were often hunted for their fur. 2) to match the innuendo that you get when you squeeze (choke) chickens, nibble pigs, and massage and milk (happy ending?) butterflies (amongst others, like the wood tree and the beta pickle). The actions should be "Pet" and "Shave."

  • I would like a horse that I can ride!
Posted 15 months ago by erik Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Seconding the horse [or other mount] idea, to be honest!  We have the subway for fast transportation, but what about those of us who still want to see the world as we travel?  :D

I love the idea of "hunny bunnies" and cotton candy sheep, too.

As for bears, to link some animal interactions together:  Allow us to 'Activate' honey.  This will give a "sweet scent" buff of some kind, that attracts a bear to you.  The bear will chase you, you play dead and--worrying that he might have scared his new 'friend'--the bear gives you a salmon as a way of saying sorry.  :>
