+1 - no lag with all those people and all those rooks! Much better than the alpha run of the rook. Nice build up, great music, cool.
-1 - seemed to not really be all that scary once you got past the novelty of the screen being broken (which I did think was cool). the alpha test, didn't the rook freak the animals out such that they needed attention? I didn't see that in this one, save for a sad butterfly two streets away. In the middle of the attack, the sole pig on the street was pretty happy. :)
zeeberk: There was at least one butterfly that needed to be revived afterwards. I couldn't find any more, but it's possible that it gets worse as it happens again and again.
Bear in mind there was only one pig there, and what, two/three chickens and a couple of butterflies and I was giving them plenty of attention. (What? don't look at me that way)
I greatly hope that the Rook manages to gather up some buddies and presents us all with a major attack to defend against.
I absolutely yelped in fear when the rook broke through my screen - and the damage it did was so cool - especially since it wasn't as real as it looked!
I was there, it was very cool! I loved the music and the lead up and then my screen been attacked... although afterwards was hard work, reviving animals and trees on not just the main street but surrounding streets too!
Love the idea of the rook attacks. I would love it if the stories trees, animals & rocks tell us would include mention of the rook. He's completely absent from the folklore.
There's one of the mini-games where you go to destroy a rook's egg. And I swear I remember something telling me about the rook. It's in the folklore, just not common.
Everybody know bubbles trees used to grow in tandem with purple flowers...and it made them all totally crazy paranoid--you really can't trust what they say, it's all wacka wacka.
I can't remember which Giant, but one them had the idea to move purples so they could only grow in gardens...keep 'em from doing more damage to bubble trees. Spriggan, I guess.
7-1 that was freaky. The rooks came and ate my screen and hurt the animals and trees. I don't like them. Yet I DO immensely love that it kept the game interesting. If things keep developing like that it will be awesome.
This is why I would like to revive my idea of magic talismans. There should be a quest to obtain a talisman that would protect us from the Rook. A quest involving all sorts of things like obtaining a Rook feather (which means you would have to "survive" a Rook attack and somehow obtain the feather while running from the stupid thing) and then using some sort of forgery to make the talisman with other objects (like, I dunno, 10 Molybdenum ingots or whatnot).
has GOT to be a way to fights them esp since donating to shrine where attack is happening, using emo bears on trees and animals, and giving lots o' hugs n kissing as per Stoot in Alpha vid of 1st Rook attack did not help us the last two days,,,,
Please Help!....(and looking for a Walrus named Paul as per KevBob's "clue",....well, let's just say, am Still looking......lol)
Hburger, thanks for the video. I've been hearing so much about these attacks, but was always in the wrong place (and not monitoring Global) at the right time.
I got these warnings that the rook was coming so I ran from zone to zone looking for a way to get away but it kept coming so I stood my ground and revived as many fallen npc's as I could using up most of my emergency stash but somehow survived and my screen slowly healed but somewhere deep down the nightmare remains that the rook will be back... Will people stay and help or cut and run?
I loved the graphics and music during the rook attacks, but wanted to be able to fight back, rather than just click "revive" after the fact. I know that it's not supposed to be a violent game, but it feels pretty weird to stand around with bags of weapons and not at least throw eggs or something. Will the old "display affection in order to scare the rooks away" idea be returning, at least?
I was so disappointed when I missed the first rook attack, having to retire to bed to be ready for work the following day, but oh I was so caught up in the next one I forgot to report this bug, looking at the pics I thought I'd share them here.
When Rooks attack best defense is to hide - lol ninja power!!
So yes - fun bugs (ETA - These were from July 1st at about 10pm in the UK 2pm PDT)
I too would like to be able to 'attack' love the idea of a wave of huggers or Meditation wall to fight back with. Egging em or throwing da poop would also work for me . . . hee
@MzMunchken, look for the group Rook Alerts. Just got rolling and was a fun way to let people know both where and when the rooks were and then coordinate the aftermath cleanup. :)
showed a friend the youtube video of the rook attack and he was wondering why we were giving the chickens CPR

I would like it if there was a way to summon the Rook! I mean, am I the only one who finds the Rook a benevolent force that helps Glitch when there's rampant animal overcrowding?
We shouldn't try to fight the rook, we should embrace his soft clawings and animal maimings. The Rook's a get'er done kind of bird!
...not to mention it's probably PO'd we broke its eggs. Can you blame it for attacking Glitch? Of course not! The Rook's alright in my book. I wonder if I can get it to join the SSGVS...
@Freeman: I actually loved the rook attacks, but my reason was that I enjoyed the camaraderie and teamwork of reviving things over an entire region enormously. Just a blast! @Laurali: I am sure more attacks must be forthcoming:) It seems as if they had about four per day over this test (possibly more, not sure).
