Saturday Night - In May, it can only mean............UR-O-Vision Song Contest Time!

Ahhh remember those days years ago, when saturday night really was about going out, getting rat arsed and waking up naked with a someone elses dribble in your hair - still cant look back....

This Saturday - a quaint European custom (You know, Europe, its that bit that ruled with world before the Americans came along) called the Eurovision Song Contest explodes across the continent like a bad case of the unmentionables.

To celebrate this amazing event - which consists of the nations of Europe coming together to murder music, I am going to be hosting a party.  Theres also the most amazing prize contest in the WORLD.  If you want to come to the party, probably at my House or Street, then please drop me an IM or even just turn up - frankly i'll be so drunk on hurdy-gurdy by then i wont know anyway.

To the Contest - Pick the country you think is going to win and type it into this Forum post - Enter more than once if you like, type all of them if you really really want to - theres loads of prizes on offer and in the spirit of the contest they all suck!

So to celebrate the Contest - The Party will start at 8pm British Time (Other time zones are available ) - on my street and in my house (yes, i'll have taken anything of value like the 500 dolls out).  If you really cant wait for it (and of course you cant you cunning little Urians) - heres a link to the greatest piece of nonsense every!

Love really can set us free - unless its being sung by the elderly then its just wrong.

  • Nice sentiments Ama-gi that for me really get to the heart of Eurovision - the party will probably have some form of cake so hopefully no starvation though.

  • If a country whose representative wins chooses not to host the next contest (if, for instance, they are too financially strapped to do so), then doesn't one of the big 5 host instead?  Usually the UK?  Well... it's the only way the UK will be hosting Eurovision anytime soon...  ;P

  • Ok - Crazy statement time! I in all seriousness LOVE Eurovision! really guilty pleasure of mine but I love the fact that in these days of depressing news, wars and banking crisises (plural of crisis help!) that an entire continent can come together and do something that is so bonkers and at times comically tuneless is wonderful.

However to the bet - Thinking long and hard I am now So confident that the UK cannot win that I am prepared, if they do, to find 100 different glitches and tell them "i am wrong and I love Englebert"

Happy Sunny Saturday to you all and god bless us everyone

  • My heartfelt thanks for all those who came along to the party last night - it was a really funny and wonderful experience sharing it with you all.  If anyone needs fashion tips I would suggest speaking to Clayr.....!   Bit upset the russian grannies didnt win but massive congratulations to our Swedish friends for a landslide victory.

So are we all off to Stockholm next year then?
