Scalpers and Panhandlers...

There could be roaming Panhandlers to whom if you give a donation they reward you with something, like tilling your garden, or chopping your ingredients, or catching a piggy.

Same goes for Scalpers - maybe some players could specialize in it - who gain as much random stuff as they can and 'sell' it to you for higher currant value, or a skill point or two, or XP.

  • yes...a kind of NPC serendipity, like Rube!

The Scalpers idea reminds me of those days in Animal Crossing when all the players and characters had a tag sale and you could buy their stuff and sell your own. When I saw how much fresh caught fish sold for, it became one of my favorite money making days in the game.

  • "scalpers" just sound like entrepreneurs. i imagine most of us will be scalpers to some extent, based on that definition.

a scalper doesn't just sell random stuff. they buy or collect all available stocks of a rare item in order to create artificial scarcity, which allows them to sell at insane markup. see also "cornering the market".

i'm sure certain players will attempt to do this over time. *eyes yeoz suspiciously*
