There needs to be some alternative way to evening the playing fields. More of these houses won't really make much of a difference as they will soon be bought up my 2nd and 3rd alternate accounts.
As Asrealda stated, players should get the option to choose whether they want a normal garden or a herb garden.
I'm not sure if I interpreted the O properly, but I guessed that they were referring to the need for personal herb gardens.
My personal suggestion would be renting rooms for a specified time in herb hotels :O Sounds wrong, doesn't it?
For now, find someone with a bog house and time-share with them.
I'm renting my house to someone who grows herbs and leaves me lots of yummy food so I don't have to cook, just wander around Ur. If I come home and find herbs ready to harvest, I do it, shuck enough to replant, dump some guano on them, and leave the seeds.
It shouldn't take much for the devs to add some bog streets since they use already developed templates, so it's not taking much time away from putting the finishing touches on those house renovations/personalized houses. There have only been 3.5K bog houses in Kalvanna available for a long time. It seems like there has been nothing in the other three bog areas for quite a while...yes, it's time for more bog houses...
Though one can only hope this not keeping up with demand for housing in this area, is a sign we area getting close to the unique housing options/renovations they have been saying we'd get for quite a while...and it is 2012 now... ;)
I am truly impressed. I can recall when bog houses were the only sort (other than caves) that were always available. The devs never had to open up new quarters. NOW, there is nothing for sale anywhere in the bogs. Wow.
I don't suspect there will be any new ones because unlike some other landscapes, bog quarters are displayed as part of the landscape. In Salatu you can just plop down a sign and there's the quarter. In Kalavana it's not so easy.
Well, the some of the smaller apartment places are like that Walruz, but there are 'plonked down sign' type housing blocks aswell in Kalavana, eg: Gopra Byle, Kuri Chill, Nia Sra, and Seela Latta quarters.
Woah, Last time I checked it was Groddle (I think it was the Meadow) who was running out of houses. I must say, that was pretty fast. I guess the herbs have gotten pretty popular past through these 2 months, eh? I wouldn't mind signing up to get new houses (actually I should've just bought the houses while they were still on sale D: ), I'm just one of those people who are waiting impatiently to finish this 3-quest(er) about herbs.
@TheInspiration
Actually that's not a bad idea, but I guess that's for people who have time in their hands (because you included that it would be one of those timed rentals). I wouldn't mind renting if we could rent one for a whole week though ^^
I sold my 50k house in Kajuu because herb gardening seemed more profitable and interesting to me, but so far I've only been able to land a 3.5k house in Kalavana. I would love to find a nice 7.5k! I realize they are working on a new housing system, but I can't help but wish we'd hear something soon about it so I know whether to keep looking for something bigger.
WalruZ, I live in Gopra Byle in a housing quarter - they're all over the place.
i agree - it would be nice to see some additional bog housing of the 5K and 7.5K variety. I already have a shimla house but I know lots of folks who want in.
I know new housing is on the way at some undetermined date but for the people who are here now and playing and waiting and unsure of how long the wait will be, a place to call one's own in the bogs would be a great thing to have sooner than later.
Have to agree, if the release of the new housing renovations option isn't imminent (ie, in the next few hours), I don't understand why they aren't at least putting in some new bog residential areas prior to the weekend play. Most of the bog areas have been sold out for at least a few days, if not longer (like a week or more). They used to be pretty responsive in adding new residential areas/houses...they seem to be dragging their feet lately, and I don't feel like the holidays would be the best excuse for it since they are cookie cutter templates for housing streets right now. Just makes you wonder what the heck is going on with respect to housing.
Yes, they added a bunch of meadows homes, but didn't add any bog houses...which was odd, since they were already at a premium already (at most only 3.5K homes available for weeks)...seemed even more odd that an entire new Meadows residential area was added, but nothing on the bog side at that time. I keep a pretty good tab on the real estate listings, and found that update curious at best. Now there is nothing in the bog areas, and hasn't been for at least a day or two. And I stand by what I said, they used to be rather responsive in adding new housing (especially when there was nothing left of a certain style). With the need for more bog houses in general due to the increased interest in herbs for potions and such, and the fact there hasn't been any on the market in last few days when I've looked, I'm really shocked they've not added any new areas for them. Really thought we were going to see those promised housing renovations because of this after the holidays, but we don't have them either...just strange...
Then again...maybe they are just enjoying all the 'conflict' they are creating by not adding bog houses. Sometimes I feel like this is a setting for us to be lab rats under a microscope than a game that I'm supposed to enjoy. Hey, let's not do this and see how the players react...or let's change this and watch them throw a fit.
Promises of clubhouses after 'launch' and then housing changes after 'launch' but probably not until the new year...and promises of more player creativity have been going on for months now. Since 'unlaunching' it doesn't appear the changes to the gameplay have been major enough to warrant an 'unlaunching' (though maybe they did, and everything was so smooth and successful that I've not noticed, but I really expecting some major setbacks in Dec due to introduction of some massively different content). Just feel like the natives glitches are getting restless, especially when it comes to housing.
There really is no point to the current lack of bog homes - the devs can just create a bunch more pretty easily with their templates. Any issue of buying houses prior to the changes, will have to be addressed with all the other players that have already done this, so it shouldn't matter of you bought a house the day of original launch months ago, or buying one yesterday. The only other logical point would be if they were getting ready to roll out the new housing options and they don't want people just buying some new ones, but the roll out of new Meadows homes recently says that this can't be one of the issues keeping them from adding new bog residences. I think sometimes the devs forget that one RL day is 6 game days...and we can be an impatient lot...soon for them can seem like a lifetime to the players.
when the new housing quarter in the Meadows rolled out, I was certain that a new bog quarter could not be far behind. They have, as pointed out, been relatively quick to put out new mansions and cottages, and I do think this is a (non-malicious) gauging of how the player population responds to new skills.
Far more than bog housing, however, I would welcome skills tied to the currently abundant cave and treehouse dwellings, particularly in the less accessible areas to the north. Other than access to ancestral lands and Callopee/Pollokoo, what are the incentives to live there (other than the treehouses being incredibly cute)? For the long term, I would much rather see the rollout of skills tied to those residences and areas, like beekeeping/honey making, natural sources of fuels, rocks spawning in caves, mushroom patches, etc.
Still no bog houses...completely sold out and have been for a while...sigh...I don't need one, but I feel for those that have been begging for them for so long...wondering if the devs even read the forums anymore...or pay attention to the current housing market...maybe it's a sign that change is coming soon...one can only hope.
