Best Farming

I have 10 Piggies, 7 Butterflies and 4 Chickens in my house garden. And 2 Meat Collectors and 2 Butterfly Milker. Is this the optimum? How do you manage this ?

  • Important questions, first, are what kind of house you have, and how often you come on. :)

  • Liza, it is a 50k house and I visit it generally one time a game day.

  • You could probably add at least 15 more piggies :) I have 24 pigs and 6 collectors in my cottage in Groddle which works well. I believe the 50ks are able to hold a couple more pigs than the cottages. You can experiment with max number of animals though. 6 collectors will definitely fill up overnight with those numbers, though :) I have yet to try more :P

  • I have 10 pigs 10 chickens and 2 butterflies 10 meat collectors 4 feeders and 1 milker. In 24 hours most of the collectors are full the milker is full and two and a half of the feeders are empty. I would be interested to hear if there is a more efficient ratio.

  • I know you can have quite a few more butterflies, if you want the milk - I have usually 6 - 7 with 5 milkers that fill up over 24 hrs - plus you can milk them on top of that, so you can get quite a bit of milk that way. It makes for a little more confusion when milking, squeezing, nibbling, etc (if indeed you want to do that in addition to the collectors), but I find that if I milk the butterflies first, then it clears things up a bit - makes it easier -

  • Thank you for the interesting informations. I have now stocked up.
    16 pigs, 11 butterflys,4 chickens. And 4 collectors and 4 milkers.
    It works fine.

  • As a datapoint, I have 8 pigs and 6 meat collectors and they fill up once a RL day.   I used to have butterflies but I had to give that up in the face of the absolute torrent of milk they provided.

  • Walruz, does that scale up? What I mean is can I have 16 pigs and 12 collectors and have it still work? Also does anyone know if there is a maximum number of animals you can have before they become unhappy?

  • I'm in a 50k as well. I can get away with 25 pigs, 10 butterflies and 10 chickens. That's what I have now. I have 4 milkers, 6 feeders and 12 meat collectors. I could use a few more milkers as they fill up well before the collectors.

  • What's the optimum ratio of piggies/feeders/collectors and butterflies/milkers? I'm in a 15k meadow house if that matters.

  • I have 25 pigs, 0 Butterflies , 16 Piggy Feeders and 9 Meat collectors. The meat collectors fill overnight. I usually collect the meat from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

Pigs are better then butterflies unless you want mood because meat sells for more than milk and pigs don't die unless you don't feed them.

If I try to add more pigs or a butterfly the animals get sad. If I try to add another meat collector it gives me a notice saying "You definitely have way to many collectors now". I tried using 10 or more collectors but they take forever to fill up. I already have "To many" feeders but since I only collect from my house once a day and they are full I am fine. I get around 5,000 currants a day from these.

  • Oh, BTW, FWIW,  the best thing I have yet found for using meat (rather than just selling it outright) is Juicy Carpaccio.   Spinach is cheap and fast to grow and olive oil cheap on a per-item basis.  I have spice trees on-site, so the spice requirements aren't as daunting to me.     These add quite a bit of value to your basic meat stream when 'cooked'.  (Carpaccio is thin raw meat) and then sold to a tool vendor.

Also, don't forget that you can meditate while you cook.

  • I usually have maximum number of piggies and butterfly's and use 4 of each collector but after so many collectors they don't work as well

  • Animals get freaked out with too many collectors and they fill up more slowly.

So  the optimum set up depends on how frequently you want to collect from the collectors

  • @walruz my favorite thing to make is lemburgers- they use one of each animal product, 1 type of crop, and don't require any vendor items, everything is right in your house. plus you can make all the cheese when you're on no-no. it also uses 3 different kitchen tools to make so it helps if you're trying to get that kitchen tool repair badge.
