Auctions need to be demand based

Seriously.

I'm sure this has been brought up before but I'll say it again.

Auctions should set a base price and a "buy it now" price (because sometimes I'm willing to pay the premium) and then let the bidders set the sell price.

  • The word auction is a misnomer, though. There is no bidding. If you buy an auction, you automatically get it. So the price that each auction is set at IS the buy it now price.

    This ain't ebay, son.

  • Bid orders.  "I would buy X units of Y for Z currants"

  • Oh, you want "BUY ORDERS" added. Like in EVE Online. You can either set your Auction to sell for 300 C, or you can sell it to someone who has a Buy Order set for 290 C.

Typically, when selling to a Buy Order, you don't pay the AH any fees. That would be a good idea.

  • The real problem with the current "auction" system is that it is set up as A RACE TO THE BOTTOM, instead of real auctions, which are A RACE TO THE TOP. This results in downward pressure on all prices, which is very bad for producers and limits supply.

  • The reason why the current marketplace is racing towards the bottom (towards the vendor buy-back limit actually) is because of oversupply, not limited supply.  currently the vendors and shrines serve as sinks for that supply, but they're not social sinks, which is bad for the game . I hope the devs are thinking about this.
