Trolls who harassed me in Ajaya Bliss still have active accounts

About a week ago I posted about two trolls who subjected me to gender-based harassment in Ajaya bliss (http://www.glitch.com/forum/general/8376/). I reported the behaviour, and there were a number of witnesses who also sent reports to staff.

I was happy to read the replies from Stoot and other devs telling me that they take this type of behaviour seriously and it is something that is not tolerated in Glitch.

However, I note today that both trolls still have active accounts: [names removed]

I'm following up because I want to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else. So, what gives?

  • I hope they follow it up. I also hope that they don't allow people to call others out on the forums by name, as that could lead to others harassing those players and could in certain situations be used wrongly by people.

  • @ebil yes, in my original post i didn't mention them by name. but this time i felt it was important since they are still around and people should be warned.

  • Geeki Yogini, I'd strongly urge you to remove those names.

It does nothing to further your case, which is actually about TS staff actions (or lack of).  Posting the names of two players who you believe you have a case against, doesn't have anything to do with TS staff.

Secondly, I'd suggest that following up on your Help case page.  There's no need to post in a General Forum, which will a) get the thread locked and b) possibly lead to YOU being asked not to advocate for player on player harassment against them.

  • @windborn okay, i've removed the names. thanks for the feedback.

ETA also to clarify, i was NOT advocating that they be harassed in any way.

  • That's unfortunate. I really hope this will get rectified. After reading your original post, I realized that I have been subjected to some misogynistic behaviors as well. It kinda left a bad taste in my mouth especially that the player admitted to being only 14. The way that I've been dealing with such behavior is to leave the area but then that would mean they could just move their target to someone else. What options do we have?

  • I understand you weren't advocating that, but calling out other players tends to lead to mob action against them.

  • Not sure how Tiny Speck runs things, but typically in other online games you don't see an account closed after a single offence. Often times the offenders are warned and given an opportunity to rectify their behavior before they're given the boot.

  • You should have the option to "Report Abuse" when clicking on a player or the player's name in chat.  You can then fill out a form explaining what you saw that wasn't okay and the staff can address it.

Banning isn't the only option, especially if it's someone's first offense, and Tiny Speck can't always tell you what they did do for privacy reasons.  It could be anything from a warning to not being allowed to talk any more.  Who knows?

  • I wanted to assure all of you that the reported actions of both players have been addressed, and to clarify that, in some situations, we do use a warning system if we feel the guidelines were not clearly conveyed to the player beforehand. But know that we cannot announce the result of any abuse report to the community or the reporters themselves, though of course we share your concerns and look at each abuse case *very* carefully.

It's also true that calling out any specific players in the forums is not ok. Thank you for removing the names from your original post!

  • I've reported abuse and was also told that they heard me and were sorting it out but couldn't tell me what the outcome was.  Tiny Speck being Tiny Speck i'm pretty content with that, you know?

In other games I report stuff and don't quite trust that the staff actually dealt with it because of how they have been acting all along.  Here, though, Tiny Speck has never done anything to make me think they have not actually sorted the abuse out.   Its fine that they don't let me see the punishment, or whatever, of the offenders because everything else around here has been handled pretty well.

hope that helps you put your situation behind you.

  • @blanky cool, thanks for letting me know

@feylin yes, i agree, i trust TS way more than any other MMO. i just wanted to find out if something had been done or not, because, as i said, i would really hate for someone else to be in that kind of situation. i've been online for years and i have a fairly thick skin, but i know that is not the case for everyone. besides, no one should have to deal with that kind of poop/
