Village of the Damned

So with all the new folk (yay new folk!!), there are so many identical Glitchen running around, that it can be a little... creepy. :P
What are some ways we can encourage customization?? I was thinking a free gift of maybe 50 credits would do nicely. It's enough to give them a taste and at least get them looking through the wardrobe (and see how much cool free stuff is available to subscribers), but not enough to fully satisfy. Ideas?

  • I wonder how many people will update their look once they decide whether Glitch is for them or not- a few of the "Bumblebees" I've talked to are mostly just feeling it out for now. I imagine there will always be a bunch of 'em, as newer players come in, but they'll start to blend in after awhile.

  • Well, the post was less about my aesthetic experience (a little joke), than about how to get new players to engage (and spend money!) via customization. Since the game is a lot about exploration and finding your bliss, there are probably a few folks out there that will "get it" sooner if they start fiddling around in the customizations and start to identify with their Glitch.

  • A "Change Your Clothes" quest might help. With rocky wisecracks about undergarments, natch.

  • Wait, don't we already get a free gift of 100 credits?

  • I think the main problem is awareness, actually. It seems a few people don't realise they can change their outfits, or even if they can they don't understand where to click to go to the vanity/wardrobe.

  • Oh I didn't know they were still giving people a free 100 credits! Wonderful!!!

And yeah wurzel, after talking to some newfolk I'm starting to see that they aren't really aware of the drop down in the top right corner. There is just so much going on in the game I guess that a lot of information gets lost in the first few hours.

  • The main way I found out about all of the stuff that's on the home page is that during Beta, when the game was closed, the website was the only thing to explore.  I think they really need to integrate all of the functions (wardrobe, realty, friends, etc.) into the main interface better, instead of having it spread out between the "game" and the "website."  Forums are the main thing that belong in a separate area outside the game itself.
