Suggested tweak to group invitation procedure

Tl;dr: Is it possible to leave some sort of "invited" tag on people who decline group invitations?

So, I invited darn-near all of my friends to join a group I started. I tried to skip staff and known alts. Clicking a box beside each friend's name was a pain (literally) but it's OK! I'm glad it's hard to spam a friends list. Here's the catch: As new people ask me for invites, I add them to my friends list and when I go to send them invitations I see some other people on my list that I meant to invite, but they don't show up as "already invited" or as "member." I almost sent those people invitations again, but I realized they had probably already gotten invitations and declined.

I was recently the recipient of three invitations to a group I didn't want to join, and I felt spammed. It wasn't the first time I had this experience, either. Now that I see how the invitation procedure works, I understand why I had to decline three times. Is there some way to leave an "already invited" tag on everyone that gets an invitation so this doesn't happen to them too? I don't think anyone means to nag people who don't want to be in their groups.

I know this might create issues with the (hopefully) few people who decline invitations by mistake, but maybe just throwing in a confirmation "Are you sure you don't want to join this group?" would minimize that.

  • This is suddenly relevant to a lot more people. The recent post asking for glitches to spam their friends lists with group invitations means many more repeat invitations. I am already getting them. Just sayin'.

  • Maybe a new tag that said "declined" so that they would still be invite-able if they accidentally declined, but inviters would know who didn't want to join.
