[not a bug, but changed back] Can no longer fertilize plots by clicking...

... it just says "All Good" "nothing to do" and won't let me apply my guano.  =(

What's going on?
I reloaded and it still won't work.

Edit - I also tried dragging the Guano to the plot but it says "You need to water it more first!"  It's already all the way watered!!  D:

  • The new news post says you have to drag it to the plot.

    ********
Your carefully-collected Guano can now only fertilize by dragging it to the lucky plot (so you can me more choosy about when you use it).

  • Ergh. It's become a super-tedious process -- think "double-fertilizing a 3*4 bed." And I'm concerned about no longer having a keyboard option.

It's certainly an improvement to be able to choose whether to fertilize or to simply water. But couldn't this have been done by implementing another interaction menu? Select a plot, have it pop up a menu: "Plant" (grayed out if already planted) "Water" (grayed out if fully wet already) "Fertilize" (grayed out if nothing's planted)

Glitch is in most cases very keyboard friendly -- to *decrease* keyboard friendliness seems unGlitchlike.

  • Argh! It gets worse.

So some of my herbs popped before others, so I replanted in between. In a 3*4 bed, I have a sort of L shape of three newly planted plots among the double-fertilized plots.

It is darned difficult dragging fertilizer to the three plots that need it! At first the mouse selector kept skipping over them! Back and forth and back... I think the standing-up part of the already-fertilized plants is grabbing the mouse's focus and making it hard for me to get to the newly planted plots. I eventually got there, but I'm not joking -- it took something like ten tries.

[Edit: And now that it's the plots in the back that are newly planted and the plots in front that are double-fertilized, I can't fertilize the back row at all. When I've gotten my mouse high enough to no longer be selecting the sticky-uppy bits of the already-fertilized plots, it's too high to select the flat newly planted back plots. Ew ew ew!]

[Edit the Second: Since I can select new-planted plots in between sprouted plots just fine with a mouse pointer, but I can't when dragging fertilizer, I'm going to assume that the problem is the size of the guano-shaped mouse pointer. It's just too wide.]

This, plus the problem with mouse-selecting the front row of a plot bed when household goods are on the floor in front of them, is exactly why we need to be able to do things by keyboard.

  • UGH so they "fixed" something that was fine before.  x_x
I hate it now.  It's just not working for me!!

Please devs change it back.  :`(

Even if it *does* start allowing me to fertilize my fully watered plots it's going to be a royal pain in the arse to double fertilize my entire 28 crop garden plots at home not to mention all 12 plots at my friends house for herbs.  >_< GAAAHH!  :: shakes fist at sky ::

  • I also had the 'you need to water more first' message even though I'd already watered them.
Reloading the game fixed it, bug was raised.

I'm not a fan of this new change either, makes it much harder and also keep hitting the wrong plots with my poop.

  • Game just reloaded with a GOD-message to the effect of "This new code is the guano, yo." Upon returning to my home with its crop beds, I am seeing old-style "Fertilize this plot" again. I think they rolled back the code for us. Yay!

Here's good wishes for a solution that gives choice but doesn't take away keyboard or ability to target select plots!

  • And @glitchlog reveals:

"Drag and drop for every guano? What a pain. You can now fertilize crops with your enter key as well, provided they're properly watered up."

So I would suppose this means drag-and-drop is still in place so you can fertilize early; and enter-key fertilize only becomes available after there is no more watering that can be done?

If that's the case, I have no complaints. Thanks for the quick fix, devs!
