I saw him at least 6 times in the week before the update and after the update I've seen him at least once every other game day. Since the upgrade I've only seen him once though.
I seem to be alone in having barely seen the rube for months before the upgrade then seen him 3 times since and got a grand ol grinder, a spice bean and a crystalmialising chamber...
And whenever I do see him he's there for someone else. I wish he would stop crashing parties where lots of people get together for specific reasons. Its annoying.
Thought it was just me. I have the Rube Radar card and haven't seen him once since buying it. Before, it was happening a bit too often, but this is kind of ridiculous.
It's random, y'all. If there was a 1% chance you'd see him on a street and it was boosted to 2%, you won't see much difference over a short period of time (or, possibly, ever). You can flip a coin 100 times and get heads every time but that doesn't affect how likely it is for it to come up tails next time.
Short-term personal experience doesn't mean that it did or didn't work.
Credulous, if you had a way to increase the chance of seeing heads, that does affect how likely it is for it to come up again. That is what the card is supposed to do. It can't be fully random if you can increase the likelihood.
Clark, that's correct, but it doesn't matter. Imagine a regular cube-shaped six-sided die. It starts with 1 2 3 4 5 6 on the sides. Let's say the Rube comes when you roll a 6. You roll it 10 times and this is the random result:
3 4 1 1 6 4 5 1 3 3
The Rube came one time, OK!
Now you get an upgrade so now it says 1 2 3 4 6 6. You roll it 10 times and this is the random result:
2 4 3 3 4 1 2 1 4 3
Aw man, no Rube! But I upgraded, what the heck?
It seems like the upgrade didn't work, but it's random. Just because your odds are now better doesn't mean you're going to have it come up more in a short period of time. I swear, that's how randomness works.
No, because we do not know what the chance of seeing the rube was to begin with.
In your dice analogy it is like having no idea how many sides the die has. Maybe it has 6 sides or 100 sides or 1,000 sides. So what if the upgrade now has the number 6 appear twice instead of once? Who cares if your odds are now 2 out of a hundred or 2 out of a thousand?
The point is that if one or more of the variables is unknown then you can never get a meaningful solution. We have no way to evaluate the true worth of most of the upgrades because we either can't see what we had to begin with or are not told what the increase is. It is like trying to decide which is better: 50% of a lot or a little more than 10.
The upgrades are so vague that I don't see any point in trying to analyze them. I think we should just take them in the spirit of the quirkiness of Glitch and just have fun with them.
But it has a number of sides. It may have had 1,000 sides and now your odds are 2 in 1,000, but they're still doubled. Doubling still has a meaning, even if we don't what's being doubled.
I've seen the Rube 8 times since the foxes were released. 4 of those times were since I got my Rube cards (in the past week). I had seen him 2 times in the entire month prior to the fox release.
Indeed, Poney Tails speaks the truth.
It seems like I see the little guy all the time now... When I'm trying to run as fast as I can through the Ancestral Lands!!!
