Crystalmalizing action

A while back there were a few threads complaining about the new text status bars.  I'm not a huge fan, but I really didn't see what all the fuss was about.  However, today I  tried making crystals for the first time since the change.  "Crystlmlzng" or whatever, seriously?

Lamest. Thing. Ever.

It is not amusing and really seems kind of unprofessional.  If you can't fit it in, don't use it.  My suggestion would be a default of "crafting" for anything that would otherwise take up too much room.

  • I also was amused. Did a double take at the missing vowels, but amused nonetheless.

  • I admit, I giggled. :X

  • BEGONE Jackal!

If there is firm on this earth who is entitled to follow the tradition of dropping superfluous vowels it is a firm headed by Stewart Butterfield.

  • Mereret,

I felt the very same way as you.  I still cant stand the bubble letters, honestly.  And the missing vowels, just awful.

  • I don't mind the bubble letters, but yeah, "crystlmlzng" just looks sloppy.

  • I find it amusing also.  And, FWIW, I love the bubble letters.

Of course, they could always go with an actual, non-cutesy word, like "crystallizing."

(There is a default, btw.  It is "doing stuff," which is still visible while smelting.)

  • It's hard to get lengthy words into the small menus.  Besides, most people automatically fill in the vowels and never notice they are missing until NOW - Lol!

  • I'm all for crystlmlzng - it amuses me. I got used to the bubbly progress bars quickly and, for what it's worth, I'm a compulsive crystalmalizer. I came to Glitch when I heard Keita Takahashi joined TS, precisely because I love his irreverent and utterly unique style. Sometimes change is A-OK.

  • It amuses me IMMENSELY! Love it! It pokes fun at itself and that is definitely part of what I love about the game.

The "unprofessional" comment baffles me... but, hey, different strokes.

I still love the bubble letters. I think perhaps some of the colors could use tweaking, but I nitpick.

    But "crystlmlzing"? LOVE!

  • I'm a technical writer ... it bugs me when the popups don't match the rest of the GUI

  • It doesn't bother me a bit.

The creators of glitch are free to spell or misspell things however they want.  I've noticed small gramatical errors before, but meh.  It's a free game for the most part.

The thing that bothers me about the bubble letter progress bars is the mix of verb tenses.  Sometimes you have the infinitive (i.e. harvest), and other times the present progressive (i.e. grinding).
