Show us your creations!

So, you all are a crafty bunch, right? You've got real-life Tinkering chops, a knack for Penpersonship, and maybe even some "La!" skills enough to make Crabs swoon?

Well, we want to see all the Glitch-flavored creations you've put your hand to: dolls, drawings, bubble collections, anything really. And if you haven't already, now is the time to start. After enough people chime in, we'll do a blog post featuring this world of Ur-craft.

Go ahead and respond in the comments here with a link to a picture (or other file) of the bits of Glitch you've brought into being. Be a Giant for a day, we're excited to see what you come up with.

  • Glum, thanks! Yeah I cut everything by hand and then glue them all together. I've got a lot of illustrations to do right now in a ridiculously short amount of time but I had to take a break and pay tribute to the adorable cubimals!

  • Katchen: Catsup! Awesome! It looks SO RIGHT! If only I could taste it!

Folderol: I am in awe of your cut-paper art. I have been into cut-paper stuff since I bought a 2nd-hand book on Chinese traditional paper-cuts aged about 14, and these days I usually make single-colour single-sheet cuttings quite like the Chinese ones. Yours are INCREDIBLE and my jaw is somewhere around my knees right now. Amazing!

  • I LOVE everything you guys made!
A shame that once the game opens for real you'll all be playing instead of dreaming up awesome projects like the ones posted here :)

  • @bored
You might not have seen it, but I posted it as a reply to one of your status updates re: the delayed opening. Beyond that, I have no idea! Unless you mean you regularly sit around petting piggies irl, in which case, I'm psychic.

  • This is my all time favorite thread! I love creative things like this.

  • Theremina, thanks! Most of the work I've been doing lately is on just one layer which is why I wanted to take a break and on something fun and in colored layers!

  • You all make me want to create, but I don't know what to make (or how for that matter!)

    Beautiful jorb all!

  • So, if this thread is going to close, can we have some idea of when? I need to know how much I to neglect my family in order to finish this project in time :P

  • You guys that crafted all the stuff I just looked at are AMAZING!!!  Thank you *so* much for posting photos of it all!!  I'm looking forward to seeing more!!  :-D

  • I didn't get NEARLY ENOUGH praise on my test-accomplishment poem, so I have come here to post it as well. It's art I tell you -- ART!!!

    Ahem.

    18 skills I have learn-èd;
    17, level reached;
    16 (plus a hundred)
    Achievements achieved.

    15 groups a-joined,
    14 henceforth ignored;
    12 hours of game time--
    Cannot cut the cord.

    11 trees fondled,
    10 Jujus outran.
    9, of zie deutsch
    No sprechen, I can.

    8 lords i've outlept;
    7 fireflies lured.
    6 trades with the Rube,
    And 5 piggy turds.

    4 ghosties I've spotted
    In dark depths of Ur.
    3 levels of mining
    Have I had to learn.

    2 emblems groveled,
    And 2 emblems spent.
    1 Sno cone bemoaned
    No room when 'twas sent.

    ----
    Now validate my glitch-xistence

  • It's a festive poem and a lesson in counting backwards, all rolled into once! Amazing!

  • What can I say, I can't crochet. (I know, it rhymes. Totally unintentional. Please pronounce 'crochet' as gimpy Tiny Tim's last name for 5 seconds.)

I also skipped the number which must not be named, since 13 is unlucky.
    ...
    Voldemort's nipple!

  • This thread keeps getting better and better ! I hope we´ll also discuss the glorious question about finding a creative licensing solution, so that we can finally order our new felt cubimals for home and our individual glitch cubimal avatar pictures and the crazy glitch t-shirt collection, that´s just rolling along in front of my eyes! Oh, you all can´t see it, right?
Well, hopefully we will see all such ideas and many more become real in future ;)
Posted 15 months ago by StevenSoul Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Lmao, okay, a flawed lesson in counting. But psh..who needs 13....

I hereby pronounce you of the ranks of Glitchian Poet. You may now wear all black and share your feelings in any tiny, dark coffee shop deemed hip enough. *crayon draws a poetic license*

Edit: And if we cannot figure out a creative licensing thing, perhaps some other people are willing to put together DIY instructions for Glitch-related projects? The papercrafts could be easy for most people to do, so we can all have a little bit of Glitch taking over our AFK lives!

  • Great idea, Jia-pop! I was just talking about making a tutorial for the felt Cubimals.

  • Crocheting might be a little harder to explain, but I may see if I can come up with a simpler, cloth version of the dolls. A few printable stencils, maybe, for different shapes? This might end up as a long tutorial...Maybe I'll poke around one of the crafty groups to see if a few members will be willing to collaborate?

I would LOVE to try making one of the felt cubimals. I just haven't figured out where to begin! I was studying some of your pictures, trying to think up of a way on my own, but Brandi, if you do put up a tutorial, that would just be amazing!

  • Jia-pop: there are crafty groups? I will have to go and hunt for them!
Posted 15 months ago by Theremina Lute Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I've seen a stitching one and a knitting one (and I guess crochetting) so far! I'm sure there are more, but if I started looking, I'm bound to get carried away with adding groups! I'm already adding them as soon as I see them pop up on updates from a friend joining the group! And I join everything that I'm invited to!
Posted 15 months ago by Jia-pop Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'd kind of like a general Making Things group. I do a lot of different crafts and some of them don't fit neatly into boxes. I will have a hunt.

  • Hmm, customizing one of the small, more child-like ball jointed dolls could work for making a glitch, a customized pullip might work well too (they have the big head thing going on).

However I do have some sculpey sitting around...

*6 hours later* Done! Might try to make a piggy, then I'll bake 'em.
*2 hours later* So I made a piggy, chicken, and tiny Sno Cone Vendor cubimal.
See! Ugh, I haven't sculpted anything in yeaarrrss

Unfortunately my camera decided that it didn't want to take pictures after that. They're all baking now, first time I've baked a sculpture too.

  • There are crafty groups. I'm a member of several and the founder of one.

  • Bawwww....those are soooo cute! I've never been too good at sculpting. Those are great, Serilyn! Hope they come out okay! Do you plan to paint and glaze them? CAN you paint and glaze them? I really have no idea, when it comes to sculpting..

  • Voluptua Sneezelips - thank you for the tree pattern link, I can so see my little Glitchen hugging one of those :)

Brandi - a tutorial for the felt cubimals would be great thank you!

Jia - stencils sound good. We have crafty groups?!

So many awesome Glitchy things across many genres, congrats to all :)

  • *gasp* Fokian Fool, there are groups and you have not yet mass invited everybody in this thread? *cracks whip*

    ....*goes to look*
Posted 15 months ago by Jia-pop Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Those in crafty groups: would you like to post their names so those of us interested in them can easily track them down? I've searched a bit and am not coming across anything particularly active.
Posted 15 months ago by Theremina Lute Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Knitches is currently the only really crafty group that I am in. It's not the most active, though. But it's there if you would like it!

  • Serilyn, those are adorable! The little piggy's expression is perfect.

  • My craft is photography, so here's a picture of the Magic Rock in the wild.

And another angle that might look more familiar (photo by husband, "art" by me), and as a bonus I'm sitting on the rock 3rd of the way up.

  • I too am a proud Knitcher, like Jia-pop, but yes, we're kinda quiet. And there's crafty glitches, which is pretty tiny/quiet at the moment too. It was the first group I joined. But it could become pretty amazing with all the creativity on here, if we were so inclined. :)

  • Cait, you mean telling you you WON wasn't enough praise? :) lol

I am in love with the sculpey creations!!!

Actually all of this. And it reminds me of the Where's my merch thread (or whatever). Where's our Glitch merch??? Is is coming? (Brandi, Kukubee????)

  • Wow snarkle, I did not realize our rock guide was that big!  No wonder he sees all!

Guess what I spent my day doing?  Making Glitchy miniatures out of polymer clay :)  'Twas fun.  They are almost all less than one inch across (moon is bigger and moonstone is longer).

  • Rascalmom - I love working with Sculpey too.  These are of Studio Sculpey - a perfect mix of firmness and ease of use for me.  Go ahead and make your own!  Miniatures are fun because they do not take much time.  I have other projects sitting aside right now.  I need to make some canes and some armatures.  Too much work for me today!

It's a bit rough (I have a bit of a cold, sorry) but I wanted to put something into the fun.  After all, we're getting ready to launch, right?  I love everyone's creations, these are fantastic!
