Moving your mouse should not affect your meditation. However, keep in mind that trying to test this over small sample sizes is really unreliable. If you're positive that moving your mouse is affecting it, give it a number of tries (at least 10) to make sure. Note that it would have to happen, consistently, as soon as you'd moved your mouse. If you start moving your mouse around a bunch, and it stops a couple seconds later, then (1) it's unrelated, and (2) you might be setting yourself up for confirmation bias :)

Alt-tabbing also does not affect meditation.

  • Meditation should be seriously buffed at higher levels.  Not the total daily energy, but the energy from each meditation.  Cause it's kinda weak at this point.

  • oh no it's when you mouse over something you haven't harvested and that little bubble pops up over it, that will cancel the meditation. For example a pig needing to be pet or nibbled, a chicken needing to be squeezed, or a tree needing pets or water. test it again :)

  • Ummm . . . then don't mouse when you are mediatating. You are supposed to be thinking of Ommmmmmmm anyway. I usually just click onto my Glitch home page tab.

Learning medative arts greatly improves your return on meditation Friend. I am level 30 with all the medative arts except Piety and Levitation and I regularly get 75 XP from meditating with a pretty short cool down.

  • @ Kook...he should probably log off and go meditate too, right?  If it's a bug and needs fixing, why propose a work-around that doesn't solve the actual problem?

  • J Legend: Just tried what you described several times and I'm not getting interrupted.

  • interesting! i tried it again both focus energy and regular meditate by mousing over my bubble tree that needed pets, interrupted both times! possible that it didn't interrupt you because you lack focused meditation? i will try a couple more things and update if i figure it out

edit --> same result any which way i do it, if i'm meditating and one of those bubbles pop up from a mouse over it ends immediately.

i use windows 7 and firefox 8 beta.

  • I also always lose my meditation when I mouse over something that has a bubble pop up.  It's been the case for me since the bubbles were added to the game.  When I asked about it during beta, I was told it wasn't a bug, for what that's worth.  The number/type of meditation skills doesn't matter (assuming, of course, that you can meditate at all).

As a workaround, I keep my orb in the rightmost slot of my rightmost bag, as I have two monitors and this browser is on the left monitor.  That way I know I can always get the mouse clear to the other monitor or the tab bar at the top without going over the game screen.  I am also on Win 7 and have had this behavior in both Firefox and Chrome.

(Also, since meditation things I thought were intended may not be, is it still intended that getting an IM breaks meditation?)

  • Right now I'm unable to meditate at all. Even if I am at a complete stand still, doing nothing, with hands off, it instantly fails. Prior to this, I had the occasional mouse interruption.

    Anyone else?

  • I'm having the same problem. I'm not touching anything and my meditation gets interrupted right away so I gain 0 energy. I used to only get interruptions when people IM me, but I figure that's intentional.

Edit: Refreshing made the issue go away.

  • I was unable to meditate just now. Tried 11 or 12 times and nothing each time. Immediate interruption. I was in my house, all chat windows closed. No IMs received during attempts. No chickens etc. nearby. Refreshing fixed the problem.

  • As above, today (five minutes ago) I had instant interrupts in meditation - 0 benefit, 5 xp every time. Refreshing fixed it, back to normal now.

And I can type while meditating, no problems there.

The "mouse over a tree that needs petting" trick definitely interrupts consistently. FF7/Mac.

  • I've been unable to complete a meditation cycle of any duration. Will try to reload.

EDIT: Refreshing the page takes care of the problem.

  • I'm also getting the interruption when doing focused mood or focused energy (don't remember if I tried normal meditation), and I move my mouse cursor over a bean tree that needs petting. Using Chrome.

  • We're looking into more reasons why meditation gets interrupted quickly. Thanks for the reports, guys!

  • I'm still having intermittant meditate troubles (or focus etc) . Mine seems to be related to the chat box thing. I seem to be fine if only the default local chat is open. But any Im's or groups causes troubles. ;)

  • Yes, receiving IMs will interrupt meditation. That is by design. It's hard to meditate when people are talking directly to you :)

  • For those of you experiencing instant interruptions until you reload -- what kind of activities were you doing before you reached this state? Did you have any specific buffs on you? Where in the game world were you?

  • Medication fails a lot when on the Subway, but I assumed that was due to the movement and noise of the subway car.

  • I can consistently interrupt meditation by mousing over any object that has a popup, like a tree that wants a pet, or a butterfly who has milk for me, or a piggy with nibblins.  I'm not sure if this is desired behavior or not, but there it is.

  • Interestingly, the behavior for meditating while mousing over something with an interaction popup has changed from the last time I played with it.  It now interrupts the meditation when I move the mouse away from the item with the popup icon (such as moving the mouse in any direction away from a pig that wants love).  Previously, it would fail when the icon popped up.

  • Yeah this happens to me all the time, *but* only in Ilmenskie.  It hasn't happened anywhere else.  I don't know why or what on earth would cause this. >_<

  • Oh, no nevermind, it's happening for me everywhere.  Also when someone messages me which I thought had been fixed to not interrupt meditation...? :c

  • @Miso George No, IMs interrupting meditation is intended behavior as Beefcake says above.
