Ajaya Bliss

Seems they removed the ability to teleport in. Before anyone starts in with the "it is behind a locked door for a reason" or "oh it will make it special again" you can't tell me this was done for any reason at all other than throttling the economy. First they capped bonuses at 30, now you have to bend over backwards to get back in.

This will hurt the casuals, people who have a job or family or can't be on for very long at a time. They can't sit around camping a key, or a person with a key. As for buying the keys, well, When I bought mine earlier in the week on the auction house they were already going for 7k, as of right now there are no keys at all - I bet they sky rocket so you would need to be a farmer there to be able to afford a key to get IN there.

ALL OF THAT ASIDE, a bit of warning would have been nice, I would have stayed camped there instead of porting to my house when I logged out earlier.

  • All of the keys disappeared from the Auction as well.
Edit: I clearly didn't read your post thoroughly enough. My apologies.

  • My votes accumulated with my Molybdenum membership will go toward undoing this new rule. Oh wait, it's not up for a vote.

  • it sends the message that Glitch isn't "Ajaya Bliss, The Game" : ]

i think it is a good decision, so long as you can still follow someone walking in with a key.

the cooperation of that is fun, and removing the ability to TP wouldn't remove the cooperation entirely, just the scale of it while also increasing the complexity - which wouldn't be a bad thing.

  • oh, I thought it was because I offered to congaline teleport in anyone who wanted in--so much for glitch tours
Posted 15 months ago by Artilect Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I add my vote against this. It seems severely heavy-handed. Also, I had one of my teleport points there, even if I didn't go often.

Also, this will be a fun thread. :/

  • Keys appear to still be auctionable.

  • I just really loved the comaraderie in there. It was better than global or local chat.
Posted 15 months ago by Widdershins Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Cerulean - Keys in general aren't all off the auction house, just some of the high end ones, and they are still listed, just none available. I don't know if that means anything or not.

  • Now people will save their keys for special occasions. Everyone will put the player with the key on follow and they will all mine together until their bags are stuffed with treasure. =)

There are so many new cool places to explore! They added a completely new area for miners, and it was pretty much empty when I went to check it out yesterday.

  • I wouldn't midn so much if there were more rocks in the caves, or rocks that spawned a bit more often.  Now that ajaya is "gone", the caves are now crowded.  grrr.

  • we should confirm though that you *can* follow people with a key so long as they walk in.

that would effectively cause the door to "open" no more frequently than the key spawns, but you could still bring a party of people in there, so long as you were willing.
Posted 15 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • this is why devs should share their planned changes...
Posted 15 months ago by Jindujun Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Striatic - Again, my point above - you have to be able to FIND someone with a key. You have to be online at the right time. What if all you had was 20 minutes to play at a time? You are now screwed, flat out.

Malero - Other places to explore has nothing to do with anything. We certainly weren't exploring Ajaya. LOL

  • is the spawn rate for the key still 2 and 3 hours?
Posted 15 months ago by cyre Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Pixieyelsraek .. *you* don't have to wait out the key. *you* just have to wait until someone with the key decides to open the door as you follow, which could be scheduled by some organization of key collectors taking turns waiting for spawns.
Posted 15 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • but again .. we need to confirm that following through the door still works.
Posted 15 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • boycott Ajaya Bliss.  Plenty of other stuff to do in game.
Posted 15 months ago by Artilect Subscriber! | Permalink
  • the other thing is that, in principle, there is nothing super special about ajaya.

you can do the same level of group mining across a slightly larger area using awareness of sparkly spawn times to achieve similar rates of production, if not superior!
Posted 15 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @striatic Bliss required almost no coordination though. That's the difference.
Posted 15 months ago by Celestial Wurm Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Currently the key in auction is going for 18000 coins & 20000 coins.

Striatic - and again, then you have to schedule your play time, not EVERYONE can do that. MOST casuals don't have that want or ability, and part of the beauty of THIS game is that it is a casual based game.

EDIT: Also, I personally don't want to friend a bunch of people I don't know just to get a decent bonus for open world mining.
Posted 15 months ago by Pixieyelsraek Subscriber! | Permalink
  • As far as I know, we can't follow someone into Ajaya Bliss who is walking through the door. I could be wrong, but I think I remember trying it out, and when it didn't work I realized that the only way you could follow someone is was through teleportation. Someone who has successfully done this in the recent past (especially after the changes from today), please correct me.
Posted 15 months ago by Shepherdmoon Subscriber! | Permalink
  • you don't need to schedule your play-time. the key still spawns at least twice each game day and the schedule for opening the door could be just that frequent if worked out well.

if you are a causal player, then whoever is organizing the key collection and scheduling will just have to do outreach and advertising of some sort, which was already going on before with teleport crews.

    complexity is good.

and jeez, you wouldn't have to "friend" anyone, just follow them in.

  • Can the staff at least redirect people who had Ajaya as a tele point to Subarna Spells? I hate having to walk all the way back to that damn place to set a new tele point. Had the staff communicated more effectively I'd have been able to prepare appropriately instead of sending my ass to buttflip middle of nowhere.

  • Oh, gosh: if the key spawns only once every two hours there is going to be a huge problem here. Those that are lucky enough to get inside will find nobody to mine with. I hope the respawn times are changed to something MUCH shorter to make up for this change.
Posted 15 months ago by Shepherdmoon Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Shepherdmoon Most of the people I know in Bliss stayed there for hours on end, not just a mere two. Once a plan of action is set in stone I'm sure there will be constant mining in Bliss.
Posted 15 months ago by Celestial Wurm Subscriber! | Permalink
  • We'll see: let me know how that goes. I don't think it's worth my time.

  • i'm also excited to see how quickly this spurs a wave of ALT creation : ]
Posted 15 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • An Ajaya-alt (an Altjaya?) doesn't make much sense if you can't mail things to your main from inside there.
Posted 15 months ago by Ximenez Subscriber! | Permalink
  • You know, when I got that note from TS, I sort of "woke up" and thought: Why am I playing this game?

I've been logging in every 4 hours to mine, buy gems, make EHSP, donate, speed up skill time...

    Wait...why?

Is this really any better than Farmville?

I haven't had a sense of community since they started nerfing AB. Now the sense of community is pretty much gone. (It'll be completely gone once they kill global chat.)

I think I'm done with Glitch. At least for a while. I'll just set up a bunch of skills to queue and be on my way. Real life is more meaningful.

  • awesome!

as a reward for having a TP point set to Ajaya i just received an automated Express Frog Mail with 7 free teleportation tokens : ]

    maybe you have too!
Posted 15 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • You can also get someone who is already inside to summon you, so you don't have to wait for a key or follow someone else in.

And, locations behind key-locked doors were never supposed to be places where you could set a teleport-point (indeed, they weren't a long time ago, but then something got messed up along the way). This is not just Ajaya, but all key-locked locations around the world.

  • I said friend people for decent open world bonuses, or at the very least there would have to be a party chat you could just join to know where to go where everyone is. Aside fromt he fact that i don't enjoy auto following someone else, I could still join in on the bonuses only if i knew where to go. But this is a totally seperate issue, I digress.

Again, as a casual player, the organizing of letting people in the door would require the casual player to form their life around when they are playing, rather than the other way around. If you want to get in, you have to be online at the right time. The door can only open with the key, either you have to get the key or be there when someone with the key enters, it isn't like they can hold the door open. so yes, yes you would have to schedule your play time. I don't see how you are trying to argue that we won't.

EDIT: To get someone to summon you, you have to know who is in there correct? I assume they need to be friends?

  • I'd just like to point out that you may think you're better than people complaining here, all of you who are "just sitting back with popcorn and laughing and pointing and watching," but in all honesty you're just trolling and are just as silly as you think we are. :P
Posted 15 months ago by Cerulean Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @stoot: That we weren't supposed to teleport into Ajaya Bliss is not relevant, as many of us teleported there for a long time and built a playstile around that. I'd like to see another kind of argument to close this possibility.

  • ooh, i have TP5 now and can summon people.

get a few folks like me in there and we can teleport people in "willy nilly".

.. seriously does no one other than me think this is awesome?
Posted 15 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Anthropocene: That's been my thinking as well. This change probably angered a LOT of people.

Good thing I never used the key I bought yesterday! Great ROI.
Posted 15 months ago by Toksyuryel Subscriber! | Permalink
  • striatic, you shouldn't be able to create scripts to key-locked locations (whether imbued or not).

Pixieyelsraek, to summon someone, you need to be able to click on their name somewhere (group chat, party chat, IM, local, help, contact list, etc.) Neither person has to have the other as a friend.
