House-hunting - where do you recommend?

I'm desperately househunting as I think good properties are becoming scarcer every minute now that Glitch is out of Beta, but am finding it hard to know where to look, and indeed what I realistically need (I'm level 11 so still low on cash).  Where do you live and why?  Can you recommend some good locations I should check out? Thanks Glitcherati! :)

  • I just moved into the 5400 block of Vuos Bosca Quarter on Bortola.. and ALL of the other houses on my block are still for sale! I WANT NEIGHBORS!

  • Maybe you should stop hugging them all the time, Death Cuddle.  I bet they would last longer if you just dropped off a casserole or a nice awesome stew... :D

  • While I don't live there now, I have lived in Vuos Bosca Quarter before for a while, and I really liked it there :) It's nothing fancy, but it's REALLY nice to be able to have an Egg Plant AND two other trees in your house. It can be both a nice starter home or something you stay in for a while. Also, it's not too busy, if you like that sort of thing... and it's close to the subway! There are houses like it in Groddle Heights, but I see those are now all gone!

I would recommend you staying out of the bogs, at least for now... sounds like you would need the crops instead of herbs :) (It's up to you though!)

I also love my current Groddle Meadow house... but if you want one of those you have to act quickly, as they're going fast! Those ones have the nice designs, but they are pricier than the others, and you don't always get as good of features.

    Good luck!

  • @Nanookie: <sigh> You are probably right. <mope> I will resort to mailing new neighbors Groddle Sammiches instead of direct contact,  as a precaution!

In all honesty, Vuos Bosca is very nice. The 4k houses have one level of 'cave' with a ladder going out to a grassy roof 'backyard' area. Plenty of garden space, 2 outdoor tree patches and 1 indoor tree patch. Over all very pleased with the space and LOVE the interesting layout. Also.. getting to a house's front door isn't very difficult.

And because almost all of the houses are for sale in this block, you can still get a house near the entrance sign!

  • I've also been thinking about grabbing a home while I can.
I WAS thinking about a home on Doon Way, but they were all taken!

Any advice on a good house location for a miner?

  • Get a house at the Tallish Crest! Rocks are just outside your house! Subway's just on the street too!

I just got my Tallish Crest house and i'm loving it!

  • There used to be a cool bug in the cave homes whereby you could stand at the far left in your garden and spinach jump up and a bit more to the left...and fall down a secret hole into the wall of your downstairs area.  And you can drop items in there too...very cool, I hope it hasn't been fixed and never does get fixed.

If I wasn't in love with the firebogs (Kalavana yay!), I would be living in a cave home.  Tallish Crest, especially.

  • There are no properties available in Groddle Heights  :-(

    Any other suggestions, guys?

  • @Nanookie:I sent you a Groddle Sammich in lieu of deadly hugs! Happy housing!

  • I came out of Beta with only one requirement for my new house: Be in a region with a subway station. I was in Sini Shake, Tamila during beta, and every time I wanted to take one of my real-life friends to see my house, it was SUCH a pain and it took FOREVER.

    So yeah.

  • To be honest, it depends. Do you want a busy neighborhood, or somewhere not so busy?

Busy neighborhoods cost more for the home, but can be a bit easier to get to. The ones in the not as busy areas (sometimes not as developed too) tend to be much cheaper, but getting to the main areas from them can take a while.

I personally prefer the small-town feel, but that's up to individual taste really.

  • Wow thanks for all the advice guys!  I don't mind being somewhere a bit further away if it's cheaper, I think growing crops for food challenges is my biggest priority!

  • Don't forget that if you learn Teleportation, no matter how far you wander your home is only a click away. :)

  • Hi,
I bought the same house that I had in beta in fairgower way in the forest - they cost 4k now but have 12 crop and three tree spots. I do keep looking at reality to make a change but haven't had anything grab my attention - the 30k and 50k houses are masterpieces but the style just doesn't appeal to me.

  • Just noticed there are some properties still available for 1500C, but they have just 4 garden plots and no space for trees - is it work getting one of these or should I just keep saving for a 4000C place?
Posted 15 months ago by Fahara Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I personally would save a bit more to get a bit more (since it's only 2500 more), but if 4 crops and no trees is all you need, then it might be worth it until you get a sure footing in the game. It will at least help you figure out what you might look for in a future house (if indeed you will ever want anything more in a house). :)

  • My whole block is vacant ('cept for me). It's a great block. It has two cute piggies too.

    Block: 4500 Ounaas Means

    It's lovely.

And I love to share food and purple. :)

  • I'm in Tallish Crest too and I adore the cave with egg tree below and garden with patches and trees above. You can also use the ledge upstairs to put stuff on and with piggies downstairs and butterflies above, nothing gets too much in your way.
In beta I tried almost all the homes and none made me happy like my little muddy cave :)

  • THE DVQ

  • Cerulean, what is the DVQ?

Emdot, what is nearby Ounaas Means?  I would look it up, but I cant open the game right now, and the Encyclopedia doesnt have an actual map :-)

  • DVQ means Dofsan Vex Quarter, in Alakol.

But in beta I lived in a tree house in Pasha's Place in Groddle Forest, and I loved it for a beginner place. When I didn't have the currants to spend on the subway, or the energy to teleport, it was pretty fast and direct to get to the mines in Ilmenski by walking.

So now I'm trying out one of the cute little houses in Marylpole Mount in Groddle Meadow, until I grow a bunch of vegetables and finish quests that need vegetable gardens and trees. It's OK but too crowded for me, and not as conveniently located for mining in my opinion. Soon I plan to move out to the bogs, and try some damp dark living for a while. Seems like it could be fun. Haven't decided what region yet. Any advice about where are the good bog spots?

  • Protag -- it's kinda out in the boonies. ;) The firebog boonies. But there is spice and eggs and gas (unrelated!) and beautiful beautiful scenery. And me, all by my dang lonesome, whistling to myself on my bogporch.

  • I moved into Tonga Trips not only because it was one street from a subway station, but two streets from Baqala.  It works out very well for me.

I strongly endorse buying whatever house you can afford, and moving when you can afford a bigger one.  The money you can make from your crops more than compensates for the small loss when you sell your home.
