So much for being told "you will always own what you buy" I'd have spent my subscription credits on things without the subscriber medal if I'd known this happened.
You should keep any clothes you have bought with credits, if you find you have lost subscriber clothes you paid credits for, or any clothes you paid credits for you need to submit a help ticket and our devs will sort out what has gone wrong.
I am thinking that perhaps it is free subscription clothes that bumz has lost and yes when your subscription ends those clothes are no longer available to you, however as Miss Parsley says there are plenty of great free options.
I'm glad that at least free subscriber-only Vanity options don't automatically go away. If I lost Wondermumbles's appearance I'd be so sad I'd stop playing her/it, which would preclude my ever reactivating a subscription on her/it. Because why reactivate at all if I were just going to lose things again upon the probable eventuality of being again unable to afford a subscription.
The same argument could apply to free subscriber-only Wardrobe items, so I oppose the yoinking of those too.
Sometimes one constructs a very specific look and no substitutions are acceptable. That is true for me on both of my glitches. Even if I want to try another look I can't because it just doesn't feel right.
Really, it was an unpleasant surprise to find myself stripped of my skirt!!
Why should these outfits go when my subscription is over?? It is the same if I use a photo editing program, and as soon as my sub is expired my photos loose all the editing .
It makes sense to me that "free for subscriber" clothes would be free for the duration of your being a subscriber.
I am so pleased with Glitch's way of giving us many vanity/wardrobe options, to create looks that we feel are our own, and I realize that we may become very attached to these looks. But I think this is one of those things where we need to be mindful of Tiny Speck's needing to make money - that they do it relatively painlessly and unobtrusively compared to so many other games is, I believe, a point in their favor.
I mean, why can't we keep our clothes!?!?!? I have a great outfit, on my profile link and here it is, www.glitch.com/profiles/PUV... its not for a subscriber) but still.... I love my free for subscriber clothes, and I'd like to keep them! Anyone agree? Did ur vanity stay the same, Bumz? Because I have a great eye trick on my vanity.
Yeah, vanity sub items will also go away. Like others have said TS does need to make money, and they do it relatively pain-free. There are quite a few free options to make up for it.
You get a whole wonderful game for free. Nothing you can buy with credits gives you any "advantage" in the game.
If you care about how you look so much that you won't play unless you have subscriber-only options to use, then… subscribe. Do you buy three cups of coffee a month? There's your copper subscription.
One day (when owner/angel/venture funding ends) it will be the case that not enough subscribers will mean no Glitch. So: special nosey or no Glitch. You pick. [ETA: Just don't pick your nosey. In public I mean. I mean you can CHOOSE your nosey, but please… okay I'll stop now.]
One thing I have wondered though. There is new subscriber free clothes that I don't have as a option to get when I go to wardrobe. Just the same old ones I have always had. I wonder why I don't get a chance to get the newer free clothes that have come after I joined. My friend has a new account and has new subscriber clothes I have never seen before...hmm My reason for wondering! Happy Zilloween everyone btw!!
I agree Pascale/Diave. I think that we are very lucky to be able to play and use so many elements in this game for free as opposed to other similar games where the primary focus seems to be on forking over cash to be able to unlock certain privileges or mechanisms to simply advance in the game.
Subscriber clothes are not a right in this game but a privilege/bonus for those able to contribute funding to maintain the longevity and therefore continued existence of this game.
I am only happy to have the ability to give $8 a month to TS as a very tiny thank you for the enjoyment I get from Glitch and don't expect any extras because of it, but completely understand and appreciate that there are those that subscribe to be able to access the added bonuses of a wider range of clothing and furniture.
I also appreciate that there players who are unable, for financial reasons, to contribute and that's why I like that there is an the ability to save up for and independently purchase credits if that is something a player wanted to do.
Bumz, as Pascale has said, if you care about keeping the subscriber clothing options so much then save up and purchase the items using independent credits, or don't and use one of the many wonderful free items of clothing available. There was a perfectly clear warning before you tried on these items and so I am a bit miffed as to why this is such a surprise.
In all honesty I only paid attention to this post because it reminded me of this:This is an outrage!
...I think the answer to some of these questions are "Well, they would like you to get a subscription." They don't press the issue. And of course everyone would love more free stuff. Who doesn't like free stuff? But, well, there has to be a line.
As to why you don't have access to newer free subscriber clothes... Think of it this way: Your friend also hasn't had the opportunity to play as long as you.
Queen Zipporah, you do have to find them in the list of clothing for sale and "purchase" them -- they don't automatically show up in clothes that you own.
The photo editing analogy is a very poor one. It's wholly unlike that. It would be like using a subscription to a service, and when your subscription ends, not getting that service any more. Maybe it's just me, but that's what I expect to happen.
Perhaps they might include an option to purchase, in some fashion, the free-for-subscribers items, if your subscription is going to run out. Because some of them, I really like, and while many have similar styles that can be purchased, sometimes the free one is the *color* that I want - while the purchasable ones are colors that I don't like. Maybe I'm the only one that thinks like that, but it would be nice to have a way to keep the free things even if your subscription lapsed, though it would make sense if you had to purchase them during your subscription.
No magic monkey. I know how to purchase clothes lol. That is NOT the issue.
I am saying the free subscription clothes for new people have more free clothes that is not listed at ALL in wardrobe for me. My friend has new free subscription clothes that are NOT even listed when I go to wardrobe. The newer people have the free clothes I have and also NEW ones that are not listed for me. You didn't understand. Its fine. I was only wondering. Can't a Queen wonder lol:) This is more of a question for someone on staff that will know. No biggie
I just checked wardrobe to see if I had any additional free items to claim, using "sort by lowest price" and couldn't see any initially, then noticed the subs clothes are listed after the others and found some I hadn't claimed yet.
Queen, can you give me the name of a piece of clothing that your friend has that you can't access? Or even a link to a profile page that shows the friend wearing that piece of clothing?
I agree that wardrobe / vanity items that are free to subscribers only SHOULD go away when the subscription expires. This stands to reason.....there only free while you have a subscription, it gives ppl more reason to consider buying a subscription,(and in turn your supporting the game) secondly, there are quite a few non-pay options for wardrobe / vanity, and Furniture, And there's also the option to buy things with bulk credits as well. All game play is free, appearance and furniture upgrades are the things that cost credits, not game play itself. Since game play is not restricted in any way, and its appearence ONLY that can cost, you may not think it seems fair, but i honestly think it is.
I thought it was spiderstyle hop poppers and gilligan pants but I see them now. Hmm the Queen has had a bad moment!! Disregard!! I apologize. I can't believe I overlooked this. wow....<3333 Thank you everyone and Stoot. One of those moments i want to go away lol.. *Hides in her palace*
Queen Zipporah: It's not your fault … the Wardrobe is overloaded now. It worked well enough when we had ~250 clothing items, but now there are something like ~1200 and finding stuff is hard.
We're starting work on this soon: combining wardrobe & vanity, allowing search, preview of sub-only items for non subscribers and better categorization of items within a "slot" (so, 5 sub-categories of shirt, rather than 250 all in one list).
Even if it's free you still bought it! I never understood the whole if you pay for it you can keep it, but if we give it away for free we're gonna take it back thing.
I'm not going to get all riled up about it though. Clothing is such a non-issue to me. (However if I ever lost my sub-only vanity items I would literally cry - no joke. Real tears.)
+1 to Merth...and I don't think I'd care if they took it away if they gave me an option to purchase "free for subscriber" items as a non-subscriber - and frankly, I'd be willing to spend credits...hey, I'm talking about spending money here...it really bothers me there are some things you will never be able to keep unless you have a subscription...because there is no way to purchase it.
I know I would really enjoy being able to purchase certain vanity features. The lopsided selection between subscriber and non-subscriber leaves plenty of room for a few 'for purchase' things... doesn't it?
I'm curious… and I'm not being facetious or cranky here at all, I really want to know what people think.
Is there something inherently wrong or unfair about offering something special, unique, and different to people who show a sustained commitment to supporting the game financially?
@Pascale: No, I don't think there is anything wrong with offering options only to subscribers - I like it. As long as those options are just that, "options"; just frills and not anything that is needed to do stuff in the game.
