Average age of a Glitcher?

With so much discussion going on about the "right" age a player/tester needs to be, it has me feeling very curious as to what the average age of a glitch tester/gamer is? soooo I thought hay I'm gona be rude and ask.
I don't want to be to impolite so am adding age brackets for those who do not really want to give to much away. It's just for fun ;)
A 13-17
B 18-25
C 26-35
D 36-45
E 46-55
F 56+
I am D  ;)   edit to add under 13-A*

edit results are now in http://beta.glitch.com/forum/general/5415/

  • Thanks everyone for keeping this going. I am going to give you some data back on this as Vexia suggested. I am a pc cluts so PittyPat is helping me learn how to do this kind of thing. I am getting there slowly, thanks Pat :) Never to old to learn a new skill hay! :)

edit to add so far the D's are making 32%  ;)

  • D, but only just. Judging from these results, looks like Tiny Speck hit their target demographic dead on... the 'discretionary income' bracket :p Bodes well for the future that they understand their market so well.

  • D - so pleased there are more slightly more mature players! I do think it makes a difference to the feedback we leave, how often we report bugs, give ideas and thoughts. I love playing this game to relax and will continue to do so when the game goes live, but for now it is important to remember that we are testers, and should be giving a lot back to the game. The game wouldn't have so much appeal without the more adult content.

  • It's not surprising that there would be alot of older players, as evidenced by this article:

    http://gigaom.com/2010/02/17/average-social-gamer-is-a-43-year-old-woman/

Glitch's target audience matches exactly with the largest fraction of social online gamers, which is a very smart business move.

  • I just read a CBC article about Glitch... here's something that amused me related to this topic:

"The people who are already playing the game in its alpha stage include a group of 40-something women who were looking for a game they could play together; retirees of both genders; and, Butterfield says, plenty of "early 20s nerds.""

  • I especially like some of the comments - "wheres the fun?" - someone has made their mind up about Glitch by reading an article - god bless humanity.

  • I'm a C and my first console was an Atari 2600 and my first comp was a Commodore 64. Sure it's not quite the pong and tandy, but it's not far behind, I know i'm know F but it sure makes me feel old when i think think of kids these days that would be lost at a command prompt and wouldnt know how to DIAL a telephone. ;)

  • I'm a little miffed at the writer of that article--first of all, he did a perfectly awful job of conveying the idea of the game, and what you actually do in it to have fun. Second, less importantly, there are about a million typos in there. Also, what does he mean, "A tree will tell you a story one day, and the next, a pig will tell you the tree was full of it."??

  • Hburger--HOW, how, HOW do you always get these pre-release clothes? First the chicken outfit, then the hat, and now the adorable little cape, AND the boots?!
Posted 20 months ago by Cupcake Subscriber! | Permalink
  • No, Bob Apple--go up a little, you'll see the article I'm talking about. It was posted by Hburger.

  • I stand corrected - i was listening to Mrs Apple in my defence.

  • When I wanted a video game, I copied lines of code from a book into a computer for hours to build it before I could play it. None of this instant gratification, hi-def, 3D graphics stuff. An hours worth of typing, to get an error, find your missed comma and you're off to play... (drum roll) SNAKE! Whee! LOL. Ahh, the good old days!
Actually, after seeing all the Ds in this forum, I feel pretty young. ;)
I wonder how the age demographic will change after the game goes public. Will there be a huge influx of younger players? Or will they not stick around simply because it's not violent and action-packed enough? We shall soon see.... :)

  • @Rachel2635 If you hant to see how your actions affect others in real-time, see the recent post about "Unwritten Rules." Because it's massively multiplayer, you can have a very real effect on those around you, much like we do every day in the real world. But this is probably a discussion suited for another thread.
