Herb Gardens and Crop Gardens

I own a house in Alakol that has crop garden plots only, and I want to do herb gardening as well as crop gardening. I think it would be helpful if the creators would implement something so you can change the types of plots in your home to herb or crop depending on what you need. Going to the community  gardens when you have to get off for a period of time does not guarantee you coming back to whatever you had planted before you had gotten off. This can be a skill that takes days to learn, or an expensive item from vendors, as long as its an option in the game I think that many people would be happier, granted I would still participate in the community gardens but I would like something to come home to as well. (p.s.) There are no Large modern homes with Herb gardens either which I find to be saddening, nor are there any homes over 10k with herb gardens I believe.(p.p.s) I love Glitch and I know there is a lot of work being put into it, keep up the good work guys! and girls!

 Thanks for reading everyone!

  • I am comfortable with the idea that players need to choose between crops and herbs, but really, there could be a more upscale bog house.  I would ditch my 50K house in a heartbeat for a 15K bog house.

  • I'm fine with gardens having either crop plots or herb plots, but we could be allowed a limited number of tubs for herbs and or flowers

  • If your concern is not being there to harvest your crops when they're ready, there's already a solution: Guano!

I kind of like it that herb gardens are restricted to the firebog areas.  But I do agree that larger firebog homes are needed.

  • I like the idea of tubs, where you could get a few herbs in crop homes or crops in herb homes.

I would also ditch my 50K condo for a 50K bog house in a heartbeat.  I wanted lots of animals and patches so I felt forced into the crop-style houses.

  • There was another thread that talked about flower pots.  That'd be an awesome addition as well.  I can't wait to see what plans they have for herbalism in the future, but it must involve decorative flowers!

  • +1 for non-swamp properties with herb gardens or a way to grow herbs in houses with crop plots

I am saving up for my house and I want a herb garden but I don't want to be in the swamp.  Why don't shady forests and misty mountainssupport herbs instead of crops?

  • I would like to own a small herb patch in my house. I go into the herb gardens and am almost always immediately stalked by someone waiting for "their" herbs to grow. Meanwhile, the fact that I've planted like 10 seeds in various plots is completely moot. I think I've been able to harvest a completed plant, maybe 4 times since the herb gardens opened.

Basically, it boils down to me not wanting to have to wait and/or being stalked like I'm a thief in a friggin' community garden that I've contributed to.

  • How about toolmaking for hydroponic systems for those unfortunate enough NOT to live in the firebog?
While we're at it, how about solar devices so fireboggins can have light (versus dark) patches?
Yeah. I got a million of them.

  • Yea, I spent 50k on a house, all the time and emblems learning herbalism (not to mention prerequisite skills), money on seeds, and I can't grow herbs?!  What a let down.  The effects look really cool and I'd like to grow them not be forced to buy them.

  • @Friend: Come live in the firebog with all the happy herbgrowers then!
Yeah, I feel you. I wanted to grow crops in my basement.

  • How about anyone can grow anything!  This must be within the realm of giant imagination.

  • A portable herb garden (maybe something you set down, a couple patches...). Or if not implementing... at least have some modern houses with herbs. And possibility to use other people's houses to garden/herb. =D (you know with permission from the house owner)

  • With the houses that have two plots (4x4 and 3x4), it would make sense to have a way to convert one of them to grow herbs.

  • Eventually with the house upgrades, we might be able to add crop and herb gardens (or something that functions that way) to the house types that don't have them.  Maybe along the lines of actual plots, or... maybe....

The EZ-Bake-A-Malator Herb Growifying Machine.... or, maybe the EZBAMHGM for (not really that) short.

Or perhaps the Radiant Sun-i-fied Garden Crop Cultivating Simulatory Machine, aka the RSGCCSM.

Or you know, TS could come up with much better names for such swaggy devices.  BUT.  My point is, that we may just be able to do this in the future.  We'll know more about house upgrades likely sometime in early to mid 2012 according to recent dev posts, assuming things stay on track, that is.  ^_^

  • I'm thinking the distincion between crop and herb houses is deliberate--it forces us to interact. That said, I'd love a bog house with a few crop plots...
