Modify the 'give the new player a gift' quest

Seems having the levels 3-5 should be expanded a bit, maybe to 3-7 or 8?  A new player, even not really knowing what they are doing yet, can get through these levels pretty quick if they just do all the quests.  Seems 5-8, might be more optimal for the quest since they will be at these levels a bit longer (and will still be pretty new to the game), but didn't want to exclude those as the lower levels since they are really really new, and it would be nice to have folks greet them with gifts also.

  • Absolutely agreed.  I also would enjoy, as you hit higher levels, having more of these quests.  Like, when you get to level 30, say, you get another one for players leveled 8-13, when you get to level 40, you get one for players leveled 14-19, etc.  That would also help a lot with the relative lack of quests you get once you're a higher level.

  • +1 and +1
I agree, its very hard to find new players from levels 3-5 because they get through them so quickly and because they usually haven't made it out into the general population yet. But I see players lvl 7-8 coming into general chat or main areas of game play all the time.

  • @Sue Chef - I'm not saying the problem is lack of players, which obviously while in beta there are far fewer, but they can be found...the problem is that they race through levels 3-5 so quickly if they just complete the basic quests.  It would be helpful to expand this quest out a few levels; however, possibly when the change over to imagination comes, it might resolve itself - we'll have to see. I've found that I can find a player at level 1 or 2 on the starters streets, and if I don't stalk them, the next time I see them a few streets later, they are already level 6 or 7.  It is my understanding the quest was originally developed when it took a bit more time to get through the levels...as they have made leveling easier, it seems the quest could use some adjustment.

@ Zoethor2, love the idea to have similar quests for higher levels...that would really cause some interaction between players at different levels.  Though in that case, it would be helpful to have an easier display of players level numbers, than the multiple click throughs to their profile page that is currently needed.

  • Actually, leveling isn't any easier.  During the first beta, you could go to Level 100, but it took about the same amount of work as getting to 60 now, so it's actually harder (and slower) to get through levels than it used to be.

After the first beta, when the game went public for the first time, there was no difficulty completing this quest.  It will be just as easy when the game comes out of beta again.

  • I found the best way to find level 3-5 was not to hang out on started streets, but instead to hang out in front of bureaucratic halls.  Level 3-4 is right around the time they get told to get their papers!

I like that it is such a short period.  It makes the quest more challenging!
