What do you feed your piggies?

Usually grain, but that was too dry, I figured, so one day I gave them a combination of ice and oily dressing. I'm not sure if they liked it or not.

Also, meat! Let them share in their own harve--

...

ANYWAY, eggs, cherries, butter? Whenever I have too much of a food I give it to them. Except beans. Never beans. What do you suggest feeding piggies?

  • Any community garden, street, model home etc I feed Cherries! Lovely to see them 'YUM' lol.  I normally drop 5 at a time and low and behold when you check again there are  4! This works great on housing streets where pigs decided to not give out the nibbles :) Throw a couple of cherries down and collect that bacon!!

  • I ignore piggies now. An expensive grilled cheese diet is meat free.

  • Grain, grain and more grain. Even with distilling I have more than my piggies can eat!

  • Grain.
I could build a new house with the amount I've got, probably.

  • I feed three crop items, minimum to get the seeds. I try to get them when they are on my doorstep, easy seed collection point, but usually end up chasing one or two up and down the garden.

I could never feed them their own meat. It just doesn't seem right ;-)

  • My alt that has crop gardens feeds them Zuccini.  He gets 23 per harvest.

  • Crop items to get seeds, thus they have a very varied diet - albeit veggie! Mostly it's cabbages, potatoes, parsnips, onions, corn, tomatoes, spinach and strawberries, sometimes cucumber and zuccini. If they are out on the streets I usually leave grain and beans for them.

  • if you fill the feeders with crops, do the piggies automatically leave seed plops?  i've only used grain as well in the feeders and manually fed them crops for the plops.

I feed mine grain. I have more than I know what to do with lol

  • Gertie - They have to be hand fed to produce seeds.

  • I usually hand-feed crops to piggies to get seeds, but i always use grain in the feeders for a few different reasons... It's available in more abundance than crops (specially if you collect music blocks).  Grain is less valuable than crops that can be sold for more currants per single unit.  No matter what you are putting into the feeder it only counts as 1 unit of food, your crops (even if you eat them alone, but especially if you cook with them) are much more useful as energy to you. There's my two currants! =^.^=

  • I used to feed my piggies beans until I learned to make Awesome Stew.  Then the beans became more valuable than gold >_>

Now I feed them only grain.  I used to keep a couple piggies on my roof to feed crops in order to get the seeds back but that was way too tedious.  Now I just sell what I cook and then buy more seeds.

  • I feed piggies crops in order to get seeds.  When I had only one pig that was enough.  Now that I have three, I also keep the feeder full of grain.

  • I feed grain in feeders.  It's the cheapest possible thing you can put in them.

  • Has it been established that a grain and an awesome stew are worth the same once you shove them into the feeding machine?
Posted 11 months ago by Biff Beefbat Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It's interesting, in the feeders it does appear that grain and awesome stew are the same value, but hand feeding them seems different.

If you feed piggies one grain when they don't want to give meat they often are still hungry afterwards and will refuse your nibble again but if you feed them something better like planks or veggies they seem to be sated and will give meat.
