The improvements to the Chat UI was awesome, and people did a great job of using Groups to talk when the Help Chat got busy. The new flow-through when creating stuff was really cool, though I only got to use it once.

Thanks for getting the Add Friend notice brought into the world, and for making everything open in a new tab... that made life soooo much easier.

This test also had a bunch of new faces, and I'm always curious to see what new eyes think of the world.... so, what do you think? I think a randomizer upon character generation might make the new folks a little more comfortable... at the very least, explaining that many of the clothes are free will set minds at ease. For a while there you could pick out the new person because they all looked the same. Perhaps we can get the Rock to point out the mini-map... seems folks had an easier time getting around once they understood what the map could do.

Looks like we got a fun, friendly batch of folks this test... and I'm really looking forward to seeing them again.

  • A random function would most definitely be awesome. A lot of wiki work got done on the Glitch Strategy wiki, so its now much better! :) Great test!! :D

  • The wiki needs a basic tutorial for those of us really new to the game. It is fun but I have made some costly mistakes. Wiki is hard to search for basic info ..and I realize is it all volunteer. When they go to beta they need to work on a basic tutorial ..but it is fun. :)

  • I had my avatar all outfitted before I even got into the game (because I was at work, ...ahem... on break... really...) and I am really looking forward to another test. Everyone seemed very patient with our influx of refugees from faunasphere. So far I love the style, the humor, the enormity of the world and the quests. I am really itching to buy real estate now. But for now, I have a LOT of reading up to do on how things work. This is SO exciting!

  • MiddleAged - The Wiki Folks will definitely take that to heart and do what they can. Everyone involved spend a huge amount of time gathering information and feedback, and taking note of where the stumbling blocks are. Was really cool to meet the refugees, I've been lurking on FaceBook for some time. Glitch is a better place for your being here!

  • I thoroughly enjoyed today's test...the only issue I cam across was sometimes the completion rewards and dialogue would not show and I froze and had to refresh page.

  • I enjoyed the game throughly. Had a few issues even crashed once and had to reboot but,all in all not to shabby. I found even older testers to be very helpful. God scared me a little bit because in Faunasphere we had a God too....caddlers aka olygoly. I was very pleased to see all my FS buddies here today.Thank you for letting us in. We are pretty good people and Me personally could not think of a more deserving bunch of Middle age ladies to test a game. I am looking forward to being back in the game..

  • I'm really glad I got to jump in a little today, even if I did have to leave fairly early. I can say I have no idea what I'm doing; although having the quests does help put me in some kind of direction. The chat seemed to be working fine & easy to navigate. Still trying to let go of the mouse (so hard.. must... let..... go..) so interacting with the moving butterflies was very cumbersome.

The only bug I had was setting up my character. I saved changes to vanity, went straight to clothing, saved changes there, went back to vanity (this skin simply doesn't match my outfit, lol) and the page was shifted off screen to the left. I could only see the right side (skin/hair color) and the "ve changes" on the uhh... save changes button.

I'm very excited to get in and explore next time. In the meantime, Wiki will have to become my new friend!

  • Thanks for the invite, I too am a fs refugee and I really enjoyed my couple of hours on Glitch (that's the problem with being in a different country!). I didn't come across many problems the worst I had was if I kept my finger on the arrow button for too long then I kept walking and didn't stop until I refreshed the browser. Like Rainy above I am finding it hard to let go of the mouse and I find the butterflies very difficult, especially if I do manage to click on them the menu moves around as well, it would help if that was static so you could choose from it easily.
I'm looking forward to the next test and hope it will be soon.

  • I wish I could have played for every second it was open! I had a blast! :D

I had no problem finding the area to customize my avatar and maybe I'm a little click-happy, but I just blithely designed and dressed myself regardless of cost and hoped for the best! And, indeed, the best occurred. :)
The only problem I had with the customizing interface was in trying on the horns and bobble-thingies. I didn't end up including any of those on my character because when I tried them on, my hair disappeared and I looked bald. I wasn't sure if that was how it would look or if I would get to keep my hair. Next time those bobbles will be mine!

Being a noob, I can't compare any possible changes introduced in this latest push. I can tell you that I had a great time! The presentation of the quests were straightforward and easy to follow. The directions and the mini-map were a breeze. I love the ability to use the mini-map to set a destination and let it guide you there! Perfect for us noobs!

I should have taken the time to find a prepared meal vendor before taking off at top speed. I ran out of food and my energy was down in the 30's by the time I'd turned around and found the proper vendor. I think the only thing that kept me going was that my energy was filled to capacity when I leveled. Maybe toss us a sandwich or two as part of the reward for some of the early quests?

I had a great time and can't wait to try it out again! (Oh! So funny! When chatting in chat bubbles and I typed in "lol", my avatar lol'd! XD )

  • Welcome FS refugees (from a Zookeeper player and fellow MAL (middle aged lady) - though I like to say I'm in my 90s. You will enjoy this game if you don't take it too seriously. Try using your keyboard, enter and up arrow, to select options eg for butterflies. They are hard to catch it's true. You often have to jump. Get some spinach and activate it to jump higher.

  • It's really interesting to read everyone talking about letting go of their mouse. Personally, I automatically assumed that we controlled using the arrow keys, and jumped using space, up will take you to another street, enter will do the highlighted thing etc.

Obviously just depends what you're used to!

  • I'm another FS Refugee and had a blast trying out the game to... erm yesterday. Like others, I had to adjust to letting go of the mouse as I found mouse control to be a bit clunky. For some reason my person kept wanting to go do something with a tree rather than go across the screen. Figuring out the chat system and how to customise my avatar was pretty easy, but I did keep forgetting to check the private chats when I switched out of them to watch the help chat line. Probably the two things that I found most useful as I continued to play were the mini-map and the wiki. I agree that getting the rock to point out how to use the mini-map would be useful. Also, some guidance in-game on intermediate steps to completing goals would be helpful. Fortunately, by the time I needed the info, I'd been directed to the wiki, but I have to admit I'd been rather confused as to how to get salt until I checked it, and I didn't manage to get my papers before the test ended. I do think though that it would be nice if a little nudge in the right direction could also be provided in game rather than expecting people to know/think about the wiki. (Oddly enough, I managed to half figure out how to make cheese on my own after discovering that cheese and fancy cheese were not the same. LOL) Also, I admit I did struggle a bit with the inventory. It took me a while to figure out that I could have multiple bags in my inventory and fill each of them with multiple items. For some reason, I'd been under the impression that you could only have the one. ^^;

    All in all though, I had a blast and can't wait to try things out again. I'm both looking forward to and a bit disappointed to be going through a reset so soon. I made enough silly mistakes that re-doing things is great, but at the same time, I would've liked to have gotten a bit further along and gotten a better idea of how to go about things next time. Hopefully next time, I'll only be half lost. ^^;

  • I hope you don't get fed up of hearing the words faunasphere refugee :D
I had an absolute ball last night playing this game, and was very pleased to see friends from FS in at the same time. Also very pleased to make new friends so quickly as well.

I'm not a big talker so I'll just say -
A huge thank you for the invite to play, and to all those who helped through the chat channels, you were fab.

Also to Travinara, your patience in trying to find me, even when I got lost from following you, showing me your home, and all the help you gave not only to me, but to others was wonderful.
An appreciation badge that could be awarded to (I want to say caretakers, but it's not, so...) Glitchers like you and the others, would be great.

Gosh, that sounds gushy, sorry LOL.
I never thought I'd find another game like FS, and I haven't, what I hope I've found is another game where I will feel just as welcome, and just as much 'at home'.

Can't wait for another try. :D

  • Hi all, One more faunasphere refugee here, Thank you so much for the invite. I really needed that fix yesterday, as I was combing the web looking for a new game to play. I had just joined one and went into my inbox to except them when I seen a note from Glitch.. My tummy tingled.. and I jumped right in the game not even looking at the other game I was plaining on trying.
Boy, was I amazed at how many of my Fauna friend was with me there, which made the game playing so much fun and friendly. I do like the chat boxes and how the groups have their own chat box just for them. It keeps us all together and on same page.. Good for laugh, help and so much fun..
Thank you Glitch, now I have the bug to go glitching and your not open. giggles :) It was a good time..

ps: is there anyway to get the mouse to work better in commanding your avatar? That is my only glitch and makes game hard for me. The Jumping part and having to use 2 hands and key board. My mind dont work like that. LOL One hand does same thing the other hand does and all I do it jump and run sideways as both fingers hits the keys at same times, in same actions.. Should of seem me trying to race Alex in the jumping up the tree game. It was so hard and my tummy raced.. :) Thank you it was a blast...

  • Yup! Yup! Another FS Refugee, here :D
    Thank you for the invite!
Definitely found the life-raft to save my sinking heart!

Totally enjoyed my time playing here, yesterday. Kept forgetting to watch the chats that were going on (and yes, "God", I was still there when the servers got shut down...coz I couldn't find the log-out button ).
Also couldn't figure out how to lower the chat boxes down to see what that thing was that kept blinking at me :P

But, all in all, I had a blast and can't wait to play again!

  • Ok (cringes) , sorry one more FS refugee here, Thanks so much for inviting us to play, had a great time! The graphics are very cool, love my little avatar, the game play is a little confusing at first but doesn't take long to get into the swing of things. I played on a Mac using firefox browser, froze up a couple of times, reloaded and it was all good. Did get stuck in the caverns but a very helpful "glitcher" came and guided me out, thanks! All in all was great fun and can't wait till next time game is open!

  • I personally loved the addition of links when you're making stuff - it used to be a pain when making an earthshaker to close the dialog box and go into blow bubbles - now, its all linked together! - Gods bless you all!!

  • after reading the glitch thread on faunasphere forums, it seems that some new players had trouble figuring out how to chat. perhaps put some "enter your text here" in the text box that disappears as soon as it gets focus

  • Yet another FS refugee that totally had a blast trying out Glitch! I am using Goggle Chrome as my browser and didn't have many of the problems listed here in terms of freezing, etc..

I am another of the players that are having problems adapting to using the keyboard though and because of physical disability I'm not sure how much I will be able to play because of this.. But I didn't have any problems using the mouse other than when jumping or climbing was required.

A little more explanation of how to use the map would be helpful, but I'm hopeful that once I take the time to read up on it it will become clearer.

I will add my delight in finding so many other friendly FS names and voices here and thank you to Glitch for providing us with a happy place to call home again! :)

  • Put me down as yet another FS 'er. Thank you for the invite to play, it is an awesome game and I can't wait to play again. I sat down to "try it out" and totally forgot to make dinner :) OOPS! Time whizzed by, I was totally engrossed in doing things. Your game grabbed me immediatly and I am anxious to find out more.

Really the only thing I can add is I kept running out of mood and could not find liquids to drink. I didn't have lotion so I got no more butterfly milk, even when I managed to catch one. I had plenty of food, but you can only eat so much. I spent more time doing things, trying things and running around exploring so I used up mood quickly. Maybe having a few more liquids scattered throughout the areas would be helpful.

Anyway, I am happy I got this teriffic opportunity. Thank you

  • Interacting with the world is a better mood lifter... pet and water trees, harvest them, nibble pigs, squeeze chickens... they all help greatly with increasing your mood. The drinks are a good stop-gap if you're out mining or completing draining tasks.

Butterflies are definitely easier if you use the keyboard. The 'Enter' key is your friend in the Glitch world. You'll also find it useful in crowded situations and group efforts (like barnacle scraping and peat parties). I've found the arrow keys to be the best way to manipulate your avatar and interact with things, but a mouse is more useful when messing around in your inventory or mixing things.

The best suggestion for the mouse-addicts I can give is make sure you are clicking back in the game window, and get friendly with the mini map. It's got cool functions, you just have to remember to jump in the right places.

I'll get some more of these added to the FAQ of the external Wiki in the morning... keep them coming because all the talking is awesome! I love hearing the stories and seeing the new faces. It's awesome to have a big batch of motivated, excited new Glitches (you FS folks) in the world and new people = new ideas, which is always great!

Here's the link to the Wiki... for a little light reading.
