"Ur"ban Expansion and Segmentation

How will Glitch scale geographically?

Assuming streets continue to get built out to support an expanding population, what will compel me to go to a new region that is 10 or 20 subway stops away to get the same resources that are available 3 stops away? Sure, you may have an attraction like a tower or another castle, but beyond that one-off visit, why will I go back more than once or twice?

This leads me to think that geographic segmentation will start to be more pronounced. My question is - will the segmentaion happen willy-nilly, or will it be imposed by some sort of structure?

I like the idea of competing economies and, dare I say, competing 'governmental' styles (*gasp*). I know the words govermnent/economy/rule/order strike fear/loathing in to most, but...it is a logical next step.

('stop me if you think that you've heard this one before'...or...sorry if this dead horse has been beaten).

Thoughts?

  • I've said before that it's be neat to see other "lands" like continents or worlds outside of Ur. Maybe Ur is only in the mind of one giant and there are still 10 others we've yet to discover in the supposed nebula of imagination that falls in the minds of the giants. :D

  • I agree. I think that if they're going to create so many new areas, it's logical to make sure each area has a unique thing that can't be acquired elsewhere. Such as, herb gardens in the swamp, and, um, 'stuff' in the Baqala/ Choru area.
