Spice grinders - should they break?

Most tools break, but I ground hundreds of spices for a project without breaking my spice grinder. I can't recall ever breaking my spice grinder. Is this expected behavior? If so, it really advantages spice grinding (and meditation) over other forms of labor donation; other forms get interrupted when your tool breaks, but spice grinding can go on until that phase of the project is done.

  • Tanga, you can repair your tools while still using them during labor at a project.

  • Essie, I know that - but it takes energy and a certain amount of attention, versus just bzzzzzzzzz.... Anyway, my point is that it seems strange that the spice mill doesn't break.

  • They can break; kitchen tools do not wear in the same way that tools like a shovel or pick breaks do, there is randomness to how kitchen tools break.

  • Does that include the orb? As I haven't had that break on me yet?

  • Kevbob, are you sure they actually do break on street projects? On my last street project I broke six chopping boards, five grills, five saucepans, but no grinders.
