New Idea for Creating Recipes

So I was thinking about Glitch the other day, coincidentally while cooking and thinking about how fun it would be if we could elaborate on the game play for cooking skills.
As of now, we can only discover new recipes and follow those recipes based on what cooking appliances you own and how adept you are (how many times) you've used such instruments. While I appreciate this concept,I think it would be a fun idea if add another higher level skill that enables you to develop your own recipes using ingredients from around Ur.
Furthermore, you could trade, buy, discover your own and others' recipes. (We would also have to consider the energy costs, but that would follow of the general rule that the more ingredients it uses, the more energy it has). As a cooking Glitchen, I think it would add a more fun, interactive element to Glitch. Along with that, it would be great to bring a baking aspect to the game, where we could make cupcakes, cookies, etc.

Let me know what you think, and how we could possibly execute this plan! :) Thanks!

  • This is great idea, but i dont think that there could exist system where you could entirely create a recipe on your own, since an item needs a graphic to be in game files to begin with.

That said, there could be recipe discovery system like this:

Devs put a pool of recipes to be discovered ingame without ingridients set (but with some general ingridient rules, like a dish that will need meat or type of bread that will need flour) and implement a 'try this' option, much like with test tube.
Players try out the recipes and fail. New recipe becomes unlocked based on what combination was tried the most.

As far as i understand street projects, this would function in a slightly similar way - people who spent most have most to tell - except in street project voting is done *afterwards*.

  • @Ingvar: That's a great idea! I hadn't considered the photo issue before, but I feel like your idea is effective and is essentially the same thing. I love it! :)
