STOP SENDING ME GROUP INVITES!!

I've been getting at least 2 invites a day now to groups and it's been getting really annoying. I've recently started blocking people who have been sending me group invites but the thing is, I don't want to block anyone. Today I get home from school and I was invited to a PARENTING group. Seriously? A parenting group? The person didn't even know if I was a parent or not. I'm a teen. And I haven't even talked to the person who sent me an invite. I only accept invites if I asked for one. I wish there was a way to stop recieving invites from people, because this is getting really annoying.

  • Is it really that hard to click decline and move on? I get a TON of invites a day. But I just go through read them and if I wanna join I join. If I dont I decline and continue with my day. Why so serious?

  • No its not hard to click decline. I always add people back if they have added me I want to see who has added me WITHOUT all the invites to groups I'm not even interested in.

  • Don't Click Decline

That's the secret.  Just leave the invite there.  That will stop any more invites from that group.

Doesn't solve the problem of a single person inviting you to multiple groups.  For that I'd suggest a short in game mail asking them politely to stop inviting you.  Then block.

  • WindBorn is right, when ever I decline an invitation I get a new one from the same group. Its really annoying getting all of these invites.

  • There's actually a reason not to be in a lot of groups. They are listed first next to the chat tabs, and push your friends off the bottom of the display.

I just went through and removed myself from all groups that haven't had traffic in a month or more (which seems to be most of them).

  • It would be nice to have the option to block further invites from a group. I will have literally declined the same group 5-10 times and still get invites (and this has happened for multiple groups). It's clear to me that in such cases, inviters click everyone on their buddy list with no regard to whether someone actually wants to join. This is annoying in the same way that spam is or those mass chain mails, except there's no way to filter them from clogging up your request box. It won't kill you, and you can just leave them there, but it can be frustrating.

  • I wouldn't mind being a member of all the groups if they didn't take up space on the channel list above all of my friends.  I'm always sorely tempted to leave all the groups I'm part of simply to see that list of friends better.

The only reason I haven't posted this complaint in the ideas forum yet is that I haven't formulated a better idea for the UI.  I'm still thinking about it.  Of course, TS is here to think about it, so maybe I should make a formal post anyway...

  • At this point, this is more of an idea thread, so I have moved from general. You can just ignore them as Windborn stated, and you won't get re-invited.

As far as development for new features and such, groups in general have a backseat to the game itself. We know there are some things that would be great to get in for groups (and I am not saying a preference for group invites would be one of them), but entertaining ideas for group stuff will have to wait.

  • Thanks kevbob. I'm not a big fan of blocking people though...

  • No need to block, just leave the invite where it is. Don't accept or decline, and nobody will be able to send you another invite for that particular group.

  • What Millie said: I didn't say block the player, I said ignore the invitation. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
