Note stealers

We need a skill that stops people from picking up a nice note to coordinate some local events, for atleast one game day.

All you note stealers are jerks.

  • I get mad when people take my notes too... But yesterday I learned of a Glitch that collects the notes and lovingly keeps them for posterity. So now I'm not so mad when my notes disappear anymore. = D

  • Perhaps there should be kiosks placed at the entry to each residential block area.  That is, a place for people to place notes, maybe notes that automatically expire after a set period.  They could be located on the main street outside res block entrances.  Right now I feel Ur is getting a bit cluttered with notes.  I find long expired notes laying around.  Residentially-based bulletin boards would be cool.  When glitches are out shopping for a place to move, they could use the BBs to help them identify thriving local communities.  The boards would help local communities form and thrive, actually.  They would need an expiry date to keep them from totally clumping up with old info.

  • Bulletin boards would be good.

  • They have them Mal'akh. But they are stolen off those too.

  • >_> I've been taking and destroying notes I felt were related to scamming. Which appear to be showing up in greater droves lately. I do not agree with the OP at all in this, sometimes notes have no business laying around for someone to trip over.

  • To TRIP over? Ristretto do you need glasses if your tripping over a piece of paper?

  • Yes I do need glasses, Tiny Speck hasn't given them to me yet though.

  • Well one must be patient Ristretto! Grinding those lenses takes time!

  • In the meantime I will myopically sweep up all of these shell game advertisements.

  • key stealers are jerks too. my friend and i waited 30 minutes for a key to regenerate and at the last second [another player] stood on top of us and made it a big compete for the key. of course the bad guy won over the innocent unsuspecting glitches who don't think in such selfish, self serving, self important ways. and until he came along to ruin everything (our plan to go have fun in the keyed section) we were having a great time - singing, laughing and making others laugh too, till he came along. so watch out for [another player] - obviously not to be trusted to play fair.

  • pixeldust,
calling out other players is against the Community Guidelines.  I suggest you edit your post and remove the name of the player, or you may find that they have filed a complaint against you.

  • Last night I noticed poor marketing with notes...
Distributing notes among several streets would be the smart thing to do to spread the word.
However I saw the same note seven times on a single street, many only steps away from the first!  Not very good marketing.
I assisted with marketing and picked several of them up and moved them to other streets and in other regions so that more Glitchen could see them.
I forget the details event, but it's Saturday. :)

  • This is what groups like the Events and Activity Planning Group are for. It currently has over 80 members so there is a good chance an announcement made in that group (or one similar) would get a lot more notice than papers on the ground & no worrying about people snatching notes...
(One can also invite all of their friend's to this group so they all know about the event.)

@Pixeldust, send me a note via in-game mail letting me know which key it was you needed. I have almost all of the keys now, I may have a spare for you & your friends. ;)

  • I think that Glitches should be able to pick notes. A Glitch could pick up a note as a reminder of the activity, like a flier. If it's an announcement of a local event, maybe bulletin boards which allow notes to be un-"take"-able for a duration of time would be more appropriate. Or possibly signs (but then this may lead to many people to complain about other Glitches spamming with signs).

  • I'm very offended at all people who call other "stealers" because they pick up something that is on the floor. I just read some notes, but I pick up others for different reasons, if you don't like how the notes work, propose an idea in the idea forum, but don't insult people for doing what the game allows. The keys don't have name tags and there is no first-come, first-served policy, so everybody has the same right to pick up a key.

  • I also think that newbies often pick up notes by accident, because it's easy not to notice that "read" and "pick up" are separate links and thus use the wrong one.  So be a bit forgiving here...

  • Only somewhat related tip to note-writers: Use the subject line well! When folks go to pick it up/read it, they can see that with out "opening" the note. Seeing something that says "A Note" is not helpful.

  • i pick up and donate notes that advertise business ventures like i throw away business fliers in real life. without this ability the streets would turn into garbage dumps advertising dice games and food services.

  • +100 on note kiosks!  Round ones, with a neato thatched top!
Notes on them cannot be removed except by the original poster.
Each note automatically disappears from a kiosk spot after a set time, so folks don't have to remember to go back and get 'em.
All notes have those little tail tags at the bottom so readers have the option of getting their own copy, especially if it's some poetry or an awesome song like this.

  • The note board idea for each residential street (and other places) (as well as many other idea's) has been suggested numerous time in the IDEAS forums.

We'll see what (if anything) happens....
