We've just converted 25 items from paid to "free for subscribers" and 20 additional items from paid to "free for all".
Go and rummage the wardrobe for the freebies!
Happy Friday!;)
They're often coming up with brand new clothes (ie this week's gorilla suits)! Perhaps it will be one you really MUST HAVE, then you'll be glad you did. :>
And, VickyAlice139, re "… its really just more free for subscribers stuff and a handful of free stuff" — 25 items which used to be paid were made free for subscribers and 20 which were paid were made free for everyone. How come 25 is "more" and 20 is only "a handful"?? ;)
Ahh, thanks kakul. I read it as changing 25 to subscriber only. I'm a subscriber, but I remember how it felt not to be able to get the cool clothes, haha. The gorilla is a hoot, and in lots of colors!
The downside to making paid clothing into subscriber only clothing, is that if the subscription wears out, anybody who payed for it, will lose the clothing they bought.
Seems like it was just mostly more tshirts that were made free...any chance of better variety of 'free' shirts? Also, yes, the free to subscriber thing needs to be better thought out...it means that you can never buy the thing, and when your subscription lapses, you get it taken away from you. I had my favorite hat taken away since it was a free to subscriber item and there was NO way to buy it...I would gladly paid a non-subscriber fee to get it back...
b3achy - we figured that it might be good to have some more free basics so a lot of the new "free-for-all" items are indeed shirts that are easy to combine with other items in the wardrobe. (There were some shufflers, tanks and other items in that batch too, though!) Rest assured, we'll have more variety of free clothing items in the future.
The items that were made "free for subscribers" include several masks, shorts, shoes and different types of tops, so that should make things a bit more interesting for the people who have subscriptions.
Also, good thoughts on being able to reclaim subscriber-only items by paying a non-subscriber fee - we'll mull it over and let you know what we come up with.
My one problem with this is that I get no refund on items I paid for! Things I know that I spent money on now say that they were free, and I can't recycle them!
It would be really nice if they let everyone keep all their clothes. Playing beta has been a lot of fun and gives us all advantages in playing Glitch when it goes live but a little thank you by letting everyone keep the clothes they have would be really sweet.
Laurali (& Dethe N. Takses, from another thread): The recycling fee should be based on the price you paid, not the current price (which cuts both ways: sometimes prices will go up instead of down). But, it appears that it is not currently and there is a bug filed to get this rectified. Just hold on to those items and once the bug is fixed, you will get credit for recycling them.
Laurali If you go into a shop and buy a tshirt and wear it for a couple weeks you cant go back and get money back from it, why should it be different here? if things go down in value in real life or on glitch thats the risk we take when buying things or am i missing the point?
And that us why I am cautiously buying up nifty wardrobe items...but the blue uni was at true impulse I HAVE TO OWN THIS NOW purchase. so today I spend 15 c on a pair of capris and 25 c on a new hat and 15 and 15 on rainbow attire....puttering along and having great fun with my avi. I am able to be blue uni but can not quite wrap my brain around gorilla but who knows? I love the diversity and self expression ....and 99% of the time folks like the oddity of our costumes which is a good thing/ Hugs to t hose with clothes, hugs to my many nekked friends, and hugs do individuality which makes this gram rock..(once I get my lime green hair and skin, that is) :) :)
Yeah STOOT, you had said that before but good news is always better heard twice and trice! Well, you do you rock and you certainly have been stylin this test! Give this little glitchen a dance.....and then one for the old lady on the sidelines that can still "cut a rug". Tee Hee it is all in fun (as she laces up her ballet shoes). See you in the test!
For the Tiny Speck staff: I'd like to suggest that the subscriber-only clothing be made try-on-able by non-subscribers, just not purchasable by them. Same with the vanity options that are subscriber-only; let us try out what they look like but then don't let us save the changes without a subscription. I know I've been sucked across the free/pay border plenty of times in other games when there's something I've just gotta have because it completes my outfit perfectly, etc... I might subscribe simply to have more hairstyle options, but I'd be more compelled if I could play with them and fall in love with them first. (This isn't a critique, to be clear, just beta-tester feedback!)
I don't think I'm ever getting over having my octopus hat ripped from me. Dragons are great. Gorillas are keen. But me and that 'pus.....we were special together. Sigh.
@stoot: Thanks, for a minute I thought I was going crazy (I kept buying things but they told me they were free!)
@Richelle: being able to recycle clothes is an option in the wardrobe, not something I came up with. I was just mentioning a problem with it because if you pay for an item you get a certain amount of currants back for recycling, but for clothes that I bought with credits, it said they were "free" not allowing me to return them. I wasn't suggesting a change but commenting there was something wrong with how it is currently set up
This reminds me... I would love some sort of filtering system, or at least a "view in ascending/descending order" system, that allows me to sort by price/free/free to subscribers. Not only would that give me a better idea of what's in my price range, but also a better idea of what I'm missing out on. Right now it's just all lumped together.
Capablanca - thanks for the suggestion!
There's a lot of things that we want to do with the wardrobe/vanity system to make it easier to customize one's character and find specific items to wear. Until then, I would suggest using tags as a means to track down any related clothing articles (for example, "stripes" for the tunic you are wearing now).
Hope this helps!
