Sources of rare items

I have got this so far:

Yeti-Alpha testers
Senor Fun Pickle-Beta testers
GNG-Beta Pickle (received randomly after playing with it for a while)
Dusty Stick-2012 Housing Bug (lost items)
P. Dolls- Rubes
Plate of beans- A group of Metafiler made a joke, and Eric Costello (dev) created it for them
Musicblock SB1- From devs
Musicblock T1-  Unknown
Recently Added: Star: Staff Only

So the 2 music blocks are my concerns.

  • On the rarity note- why is there a sudden current obsession with old tree poison? Its topic in several market threads...???? And why are there suddenly more glitches willing to sell their senor funpickle beta item????? O-0

  • What is the big deal with the Dusty Stick thing?  It was a horrible experience to lose all one's stuff, things that could never be replaced especially.  Sure, we got ordinary things back, but special stuff from friends and things we had collected over time were gone forever.

We all lost irreplaceable things, and the Stick was just a little compensation.  If it had happened to someone else I would not begrudge them that slight recompense.

There are things in the game I will never get, so what?  It doesn't spoil my playing.  There are things in life I will never get.  It doesn't spoil my life!    There are more important things to worry about than a Dusty Stick IMV.

  • Can you imagine if you lost your Yeti in the great move of 2012 and they only gave you a dusty stick?

  • I have a question, did the yeti get removed from inventory in the Great Reset, couldn't have been, but how?

  • There were folks (not me) who lost huge amounts of their stuff in the move, and did not get most of it back - they were returned an amount in currants, and some raw materials, but for the most part, they got a very sincere apology from TS and some ordinary stuff that in no way made up for the magnitude of the hoard they lost.

Please keep in mind - I'm not negatively judging this, I'm not arguing *at all* that TS should have done something like the Dusty Stick for them; merely pointing out that because they did it once does not mean that they will ever do the like again.  The amount of furor afterward might have dissuaded them from creating more "We're sorry!" presents.

  • I mean yeti not dusty stick

  • What did you lose that could never be replaced? Some notes? I understand the sentimental value of those and do not diminish their worth. However, not everyone that got the dusty stick lost notes. Was there something else that could "never be replaced?"

The issue was and is not the fact that sufferers of that bug were given "recompense." Nor is it the fact that it is something that not everyone has. The issue is that someone decided that THAT bug was worse than any other bug and decided as a result to REWARD those afflicted with it by giving them an object that NO ONE else had the opportunity to get. What you and everyone else who says to "just get over it, we got the dusty stick because we suffered" are saying is that "our suffering is worse than your suffering, therefore we deserved recompense and you do not."

  • thanks rutger, and can we stop talking about why the dusty stick was rewarded, it was replacement for the housing bug that got rid of many items from house/inventory and get back to my question: What is each of the following going for today: Glitchmas Yeti, Dusty Stick, Beta Pickle, Musicblock GNG and Musicblock SB-1

  • I was curious about this stuff myself GOÐ So thanks for the thread =) I've learned much.
    However
I am Disappointed in how some players can become so rude when talking about things they didn't get and will never get... I didn't get the stick and I've never seen one but you dont see me upset. Oh well. Now i know what players to block =) more things this thread has taught me: the greedy and jealous do not deserve a place in my glitch world!

  • I was at wendy's the other day. They got my order wrong, so they gave me what I ordered plus a free meal for my next visit. Sounds pretty commonplace to me..

  • +1 Clickadee and Muncey
and fwiw, I have never seen a SB-1 for sale. The few players that have one would never sell. It represents much more to them than just a high-value, rare item.

  • If you want to know recent sale prices of items (which incidentally is not a question to "get back to", but a new one, as your OP refers only to their sources), you can use the very helpful search box in the forums.   The results will mark the date of the most recent post in each thread, and you will easily find numbers for recent sales on all the above except SB-1 which, as noted, has not recently been sold on the open market.

  • I seen an SB1 requested on a forum post before. And I have a question is it metafiler or metafilter?
Posted 5 months ago by GOĐ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Very odd..I have a dusty stick, but as I hadn't played in a while, I had no idea what it was, nor do I know what I had lost. None of the important stuff (GNG/Pickle) were missing so I guess I didn't notice.

On another note, I still haven't figured out exactly what it *does*...

  • You're just screwing with us, aren't you, kid?  ;)  Okay, try googling "metafiler" and see how you do.

  • On another note, I still haven't figured out exactly what it *does*...

If you look at the menu for the item, you will see "unleash".  Selecting that verb sets in motion a little creature who eventually gives you 1 fiber.

Since the creature gave people fiber before fiber was available in the game it was a way to amuse other Glitchen with a new item.

It still gives you one fiber, but the novelty disappeared when foxes were introduced.

  • Marie, when you use it a dust bunny comes, and it yells weird things, and when it leaves it leaves fibers. And oscarette... WTF? I am not a kid. Everyone was saying MetaFiler, so I googled it before your post, and it came up as "Did you mean: Metafilter" And now I know, I was wondering why everyone on global and here were calling it Metafiler. Oscarette geez grow up...

Thats it everybody I think all my questions have been answered :) Thanks!

  • I think oscarette was joking and using one of the Magic Rock's common phrases, "______, kid." Hence the winky face at the end of the question. He says it a lot when he's talking to you about a quest.
