Alchemy, why do I get so much more Red element than everything else?

My alchemy bag is nearly full with red element. I find that when I crush rocks I get far more red than anything else. I need the other stuff. What should I be crushing?

  • Dullite and Sparkly, especially the latter.

  • 'Cause all the rocks you crush all return some amount of red. It's unbalanced that way.

  • red is good to have lots of.

get a second alchemical pouch for the overflow of red, then donate the overflow to shrines.

  • Dullite also produces the most green, which is what a lot of people tend to short on, haha. As for green AND blue (more blue), of course go for Beryl. And Sparkly element only comes from Sparkly rock. :S

  • @striatic - Thanks for correction. I thought it was of the lesser of two evils compared to Beryl. An experience game me similar advice in game when I had the same problem. Seemed to work for me when I was in the deep mines.

  • You can use 60 red elements to produce a Copper Ingot.

  • Most popular powders do not need alot red element. Some of other recipes consume tons. Maybe because of this it is made like this. Still there is something unfinished in Mining, Alchemy tree. There is no real need of ignots, and most of powders are slow sellers.

As others say red is good to donate.

  • If you use the Sparkly Only strategy, you will have Sparkly overflow and no green, it's such a toss up. Red is way underutilised in actual alchemy, but the best strategy was mentioned above, get an extra pouch for red and just throw it all into a shrine :)

I give red elements to players when I can all the time.

  • I like making tools with ingots. Useful to be able to make them whilst grinding on projects.

  • I think the red comes from the grinder itself.

  • I think that the red is from the excess blood of all the poor toiling miners. It adds a sense of realism to my world.

  • Dulite=Red+Green, Beryl=Blue+Green, Sparkly=Shiny+Blue. Metal=You can't crush Metal Rocks! ;)

  • Rock blood.

  • @Sweetie- Beryl gives the most red elements out of all the rocks, and Sparkly gives the same amount of red as Dullite. But, I'm not upset about how every rock gives a sizable amount of red. I'm more upset that no rock seems to give a reasonable amount of blue. :'(

  • @spacemonkey -  sparkly gives only 1 less blue than shiny, and beryl produces the same amount of blue.

usually when i'm admixing the shortages end up being green element based. and i have to make special trips to mine dullite to compensate.

  • I have 3 elemental pouches... it allows for a lot of overflow. When you get full on red then either donate it or make compounds to sell. Sparkly can be auctioned too.

  • They need new rocks in the game. I suggested this a long time ago... maybe I shall revive that thread, lmao.

  • (I still want ice caverns with mineable ice.)

  • eh.

don't think the game needs new rocks. not unless they do something significantly different than the existing rocks, like metal did when it came out.

    more interesting powders maybe.

the game already has a lot of process without out much in the way of significant results, see crystal and block making. a new rock that produces somewhat more blue than the beryl or sparkly might be a little bit useful.

  • I'm buying another element pouch this test. :) or 2
And I have to chime in and agree with Stri here, I'm wishing for more to do with what we have. Especially the crystals. It's a pain catching fireflies and I'd like more payoff for the effort. Lots of potential there, though. I've also thought about just getting rid of my machines. I don't make blocks or bricks or fuel too much.

  • Wow, why did I never think to get an extra pouch to catch those extra bits? Some days... well, it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.
