The Small Enlightenment buff

I just found out drinking Pungent Sunrise gives you the Small Enlightenment buff for 1 minute 30 seconds. This makes you learn skills at double speed.

Does anyone use this regularly?
Does this work when "you're already learning at top speed"?

  • After some testing a few tests back, I learned that drinking Pungent Sunrises does not work when you're already learning at top speed. I swear it did work that way before, though, so maybe they nerfed it at some point.

  • Too bad.

  • Yes I use that and Yellow Crumb Flower quite frequently.

But they do not have an effect if you are "learning at top speed"

  • I don't think that a minute and a half is worth using it. I never make them because they're so resource-intensive, and I donate the ones I get from harvesting to street projects, where they are often needed. Beyond spending favor, I find it more efficient to shave off bits of learning time by running through the nostalgia areas.

  • @Melody Pond, what does this mean:

"Beyond spending favor, I find it more efficient to shave off bits of learning time by running through the nostalgia areas."

  • @Spellbound: Have you ever run through Baqala/Choru/Zhambu and come across a quoin that looks like a stopwatch? The number that appears when you get it is the number of seconds shaved off your learning time.

  • Thank you Sheepy, I didn't know that!

  • Pungent Sunrises were changed in the last couple of tests.  The buff now lasts for 90 seconds, but the effect on learning happens instantly, so the 45 seconds are immediately taken off the learning time.  (It used to make your skill's time count down in two-second increments for 90 seconds.)  It used to work after all possible favor points had been spent, but I don't think it does now.

  • can a dev weigh in on this? i used to drink the pungent sunrise quite frequently and was stoked when they added the yellow crumb that had the same effect. I too noticed that it wasn't counting the seconds down double anymore, so i filed a bug report and never got a response...  I would like to know if it's still supposed to be counting down double, and also if it works when you're learning @ max speed...  Thank You

  • Well dang, are they going to take the pop out of everything.  I like the sunrises exactly for the little extra time off my learning when game time gets close to ending just before I change skills.

  • I asked about the pungent sunrises in Live Help last test but ran out of time to check on it myself.  What I got was something along the lines of "I don't know if it's been changed, but it will not work if you're already learning as fast as you can." From what glum has said, though, it does appear that it's been changed, so there's one less thing I have to poke.  It's sad, though... they're fairly expensive to make and the only real selling point for them was that it stacked past spending favor.  As it is now I'm pretty sure you'd get more out of donating the ingredients.

  • @Spellbound: What Sheepy said! Also, if you're going to be running around those areas, I find it useful to use up your energy first because there are plenty of energy quoins there, too.
