A Kitchenette For our Houses?

I was thinking, and perhaps we could get a Kitchenette object added to our houses? it could be crafted or purchased. It would basically be a large immovable container where we could put all our cooking tools. Then we can stand near / activate it and get access to everything we put in there. If you don't have a saucepan, you can't make sauces. But once you buy the saucepan and skill, standing in front of it would allow you access to the tool.

It would add to our houses and free up some inventory.

  • Somebody else here mentioned having a fridge to store all your produce. That would be a great addition to your kitchenette.

  • Heck, I'd pay subscription for either that or a fridge.

  • I would say that the kitchenette could also lower the energy coast to make food (by a small amount) and/or lower the wear and tear on kitchen tools.

  • Great idea, part of the house extensions maybe...

    A hob for cooking buffs.
A fridge for storage of perishables - although none of our stuff actually perishes (yet).
General food storage cupboards as well?

  • People do need more compelling reasons to hang out around the house (especially folks who are garden-less).  I think you should still be able to cook on the fly, but if it were a major currants purchase that gave you some recognizable advantages, that would be cool.  Although it would turn cooking at home into working from home for some players.

Along the same lines, if you were able to purchase a room in a house that was a "work" room, or convert one in an existing house, in which any kind of production (grinding, cooking, making powders, etc) was easier, again it would make home ownership more compelling.   I mentioned in another thread that hanging out in your house could also slowly give you back small amounts of mood/energy, and I still like that idea.

I recently heard about a strategy that involves going to Hell to spend time grinding, then squishing grapes right before the end of the day and reincarnating to take advantage of the energy/mood replenishment.  I think this is brilliant strategy...but I wish it would go away.  Power Glitches, please do not throw your copies of Atlas Shrugged at me...

  • Last time I died I tried to grind and it wouldn't let me.

  • I like the idea of being able to have a cooking base or even a workshop in my house that provided some base advantages. I tend to do the bulk of my cooking there right now anyway because I get caught up and forget how many open slots I do/don't have...would rather have ingredients or dishes drop on the floor in my house than at my feet out in the world, where someone may come along and snag them.  I will do on the fly cooking out in the world if I'm on a mission and running low on dishes, so I'd like to keep that as an option.

  • @Sheperdmoon, I heard about it in chat, and was told you had to "die the right way", which must be some kind of funky esoteric way that not too many players know about.  Or...it's been removed as an option, not sure which.

Either way...thumbs up for offering advantages to production work in your house!

ETA: I don't really know what the f@#$ I was saying in that last sentence, but I don't have the energy to fix it!

  • The community machine rooms have something along these lines, theoretically: "5% bonus" is written on the walls.  I think I managed to use one of these rooms once, and couldn't see any bonus whatsoever in the result, but at least the idea is there.
