Doing more with levels

As I get higher in levels (I'm level 24 now), I notice that there isn't much to gain from leveling. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but it's one aspect of the gameplay that I currently find unappealing.

What I'd do to fix this: I'd like to see some skills become level-based. For instance, automatically enable Teleportation if you become a certain level (instead of having to spend real time learning it.) Or enable certain skills to come down in time spent to learn as you level up.

Or gain rewards by leveling: e.g. teleportation tokens...?

I love leveling (I was one of the fastest Farmville players to hit level 70) and I miss this aspect of competitive gameplay here on Glitch.

  • The biggest direct gain to leveling up is an increase in your capacity (you can "hold" more mood and more energy) but there are a few other multipliers which increase with level as well (coins are probably best-known). Some skills are level-locked already and more will be in the future (along with some non-skill based activities).

    As for the rest: there should be some rewards for leveling, but they should probably not just be things which make the game easier (faster skill learning) because ... then people will just level faster and it'll get easier and they'll level even faster and then ... what? ;)

  • Yeah, I was thinking there should be some other steps along the way, too. I found that once you get to about level 10 all the skills you're waiting on tend to take ages to gain. In the meantime, there still needs to be new goals and things to play with.

    I was thinking maybe with level increases, emblems and suchlike perhaps they'd unlock new recipes, quests or something along those lines. They don't necessarily need to result in many XP points or anything - it just needs to be another little quest.

  • Yeah, good point, stoot :) I like the idea of unlocking level-based quests. I love the quests and I spend a fair amount of time on them. More quests would be great, and would be something to look forward to as I level up.

  • unlocking level based quests is a very good idea.

    skills used to be unlocked by level, and it sucked. glitch shouldn't go back to that.

    i also don't think that recipes should be unlocked by level.

    quests are perfect though. have levels open those up.
