I remember someone saying that this hiatus would be slightly longer than usual, since there are some big changes coming up in the next test. I wouldn't be totally surprised if we didn't see a test next week at all. (Just speculation, though, I have no insider knowledge.)
From the @isglitchopen twitter "Now Glitch is closed again! This hiatus: a little longer than normal b/c we're finishing big new stuff. Did you dig the yoga frogs? Namaste."
Well darn I missed the froggies and missing Glitch, what to do, what to do. Games shouldn't be shut down for 3 day weekends, that's when they should up and running. Oh Cupcake where are you?
I hope that they are enjoying the 3-day weekend and not working. I hate that the game is offline, but am willing to go into withdrawals in the hope that they are getting some much needed rest.
Marla: They sure are! Plus where I work they have an engine that blocks certain sites. Since I started they've blocked games, music (including band sites), Amazon (reason: "shopping"), and numerous other sites. They obviously don't reason that some of us like to go online during our breaks.
Ah well, what I appreciate is the ability to learn a skill even while you are not actually in the game. I can set it to learn a skill that takes a particularly long amount of time while I'm sleeping or at work. It will be a disappointment when they reset the game though.
From what I understand, the devs work on developing the game while it's down, and then rest more while the game is up as they (or rather, the users) test all changes implemented while the game was down. So... if the game is down, doesn't that mean the devs are more likely to be doing more work?
@cerulean, when the game is up there are usually a bunch of devs around, especially in the Live help, so unless they rotate, I think they work then as well. The amazing kevbob always seems to be around helping when it is up, and so is stoot.
Yeah, I know that, too. Which is why I'm confused because they seem to be working around the clock, lol. Such is the way of beta? I do hope they're taking some time to rest, though, too.
The devs worked way too hard and Glitch hugs to all of them ! How much ever I want glitch to be open, I will patiently wait for them to have their long and well deserved break * secretly hoping devs are glitch addicts to and have no life lol ;p, just kidding hehe * Have a great weekend devs !
Oh groan! I really wanted to have the blockmaking skill when the next test came so I didn't switch to one of the longer ones before this test closed and now I'm sad! I didn't realize it would be an extra long close period. :(
Huh? We've had weekend tests running until Sunday evening 2 of the last 4 weeks, including last week.
As for the next test, I predict it will not be until this coming Friday, but will run over the weekend again. But we have not set any firm times yet, so nothing is guaranteed.
Eric - Thanks for posting the info about the test; hope it will be open early Friday (or maybe before) and go thru the weekend. We just enjoy our time w/Glitch as you might have guessed.
Friday? Friday? Hmmmm ... I don't see a Friday on the Glitch calendar. Oh. You mean REAL calendars! Oh (insert sad face here). Well back to try to nail down some more info about subscriptions.
Thanks for the info eric. Hmmmm ... I don't remember the Sunday end of the test. I'll chalk that up to the pain pills. :P
Both of you need some more Glitchadone. That is the antidote we all crave. It can be found in large quantities in the Glitchadone Clinic which can be gotten to within the Groups page. Ask for an invite if you need one.
Holly -- I am a member of the Glitchadone Clinic, but I meant real pain pills. I had an operation May 17, came home May 19, and , brave little Beta tester that I am, played right through until the end. Well except for naps, and food, and a bit of exercise and sleep ... but still...
I'm fine with waiting if it means the dev's are getting a weekend of time off and then working on the game. They deserve time off - this can't be an easy process for them.
As for Glitchadone... I need some. I've got withdrawals. Actually, that's not quite true. I'm just a curious kitty who wants to play more. >o.o<
ok, it's started: the compulsive checking to see if the game is opening a day earlier than we were told. or maybe, that friday meant australia time, even though i'm on the same time as the devs.
and then, the calming myself down that i wouldn't be able to play till this evening, anyway. and then telling myself that i'm on a trip, to see family, and that wouldn't be social.
and THEN finding myself going back to the ridiculous thread about addiction. and then... i'm an addict. and not just to diet coke.
@greenkozi: no shame in being addicted to Diet Coke ;]
I didn't realize tomorrow was Friday until the first thing I got IMed today was "GLITCH IS OPEN TOMORROW!!!", so, time to wait (im)patiently. I usually refresh this page for the forums every 15 minutes or so anyway.
@milx: no shame, maybe, but it's sure not healthy. i've got myself down to one a day, but i let myself drink one of any size... super big gulp included. kind of like saying i've got myself down to one session of glitch a day.... that lasts 10 hours ;)
They usually speak in Real Time since not all of us are fluent in the mechanics of the game calendar. I'm kind of glad they're opening it on Friday so as to provide mroe balanced gameplay, since most of us are usually available on weekends whereas a lot of us work during the week and aren't available to play until after work.
Although all work and no play make Cerulean something something...
