Uses for crystals?

I just made my first crystal, but I don't know what to do with it   lol.  :  )

Sell it?  Only 240 c.  And a lot of work to collect barnacles.  Donate?  not worth much.  I saw someone beautifully decorated their house.  Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this topic for me.  Cheers and have a super day.

  • I save them. With 30 in a slot, they make a very nice safety net with a couple of big bags full in my cabinet (if my math is right, it is about 100,000 currants worth in each big bag). But I do think they come in handy once you get the machining skills (those are last on my list)

  • Stash them. They're "money in the bank" so to speak. for instance, a 10cnt bag full is worth 90K credits. I make them and stick them in the bag as a rainy day fund. (for instance, with the new housing coming, I may need to cash them in, even at 70% of their "street" worth.)

According to some, they're also a nice thing to have when fighting the rook as donations, which makes sense, since one of the principle ways TS games the player (see game theory or just visit a casino if you're interested in understanding the baseline psychology they use to "motivate") aside from the hoarding they've purposely built into the game is by making events in which you can throw away large amounts of value like rook attacks and street projects

Picture it this way, they're a bit like stackable music blocks, with 30 to a stack, or 9K currants per stack (6300 currants if sold to vendors).

Some hope that eventually TS will propose new uses and recipes for "advanced" crystals, (maybe with the addition of elements or other goodies to change them into something more than "plain" crystals), but I suppose you'll just have to wait and see if they do so or not. til then, they're just a good way to stash currants in a generic way.

  • A long long time ago, in the far reaches of Ur there were these fun things called street projects, that helped to keep glitches entertained. These were mysterious constructs that promised gateways to new lands (one street at a time).  Sometimes, but not always, those street projects needed crystals.  That was about all they've ever been used for up to this point...we've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting to see if they would ever be used for anything else.  Many have recommended letting us be able to change their color or shape (with extra skills) to be used in other projects such as jewelry making or be-dazzling things like homes, wall, clothes, etc. However, sadly, we've not even had street projects in quite a while much less any new uses for crystals...here's hoping the new year will bring lots of new things and changes to include actual uses for crystals...

  • As of right now, I just see them as an easy way to gain favor. They make pretty good donations, and if you know the skill, simply making one can gain you some favor. I actually just made a batch, gained 10 favor with all giants and some with a few specific ones, then donated them with EHSP for about 1000 favor.

  • I used the first small batch on street projects, helped me get my first trophy piece. I sometimes use them for donations. But mostly I'm hoarding mine because someday they will be needed and I will have TONS. Or I could cash them in if I was in bind. Love they stack well.

  • back in the mists of time there was mention of the fact that crystallography is a tiny branch on an as yet undeveloped skill tree.
