1 yellow crumb flower shucks to produce, on average, about 3 seeds. 1 seed produces 6.6 favor when donated, or about 20 favor per flower. As the flowers currently sell for 120 currants average, that's 1 favor for ever 6 currants spent - far better than the standard 1 favor per 10 currants of vendor-purchased items.
What I don't understand is this: it takes six yellow flowers to make the essence. The flowers sell easily for 120c, so that's 720c worth of flower to make the essence. Yet the essence can consistently be bought for 300c or less. ?????
The street values of both the the flower and the seed pod are 66 currants. One flower when shucked (by someone with all the applicable upgrade cards and skills) makes 0-3 seeds (the average is somewhere above 2 but below 3). Harvesting one full grown yellow crumb flower furthermore can give you up to 3 (I think) flowers, more if you have a super harvest.
So to recap:
1. one flower you bought for 120c, when shucked very often becomes:
2. 3 plantable seeds, which:
3. when planted and harvested give at least 9 flowers (9 x 66c = 594c), which when shucked
4. on average become 18 to 27 seed pods (an 1188 to 1782c value)
5. in a good case scenario you could make about 1200c (10 times what you payed for the first flower) at the Tool Vendor (pays about 70% of Street Value) or over 170 favor at any Shrine.
(Now keep in mind that some people grow Large Herb Gardens full of the stuff overnight (since it takes about 9 hours to mature.. and you can see there's easy money in there without needing to look at your herb garden every 4 hours like with some herbs.)
@Cabinwood: *whispers* You may want to try donating just the Yellow Crumb Essence. It's worth slightly more and will get you a slightly higher value at the shrine (129 favor and 310 iMG each as opposed to 120 favor and 288 iMG each [with EHSP of course] for the Charades Potion). Even though the differences by the numbers is small, take into account the saving of energy and time from having to gather and convert all that general vapour and you just may be able to get more donating done in the same amount of time.
*normal voice* No, I wasn't saying anything in particular, Stoot. Move along, nothing to see here.
I think essence has been selling for lower than it could, in part because the effect loses appeal after you start getting into the week long (or more) skills. The better part of Ur was beyond the mad rush of learning until the invites re-opened.
If you sold them @ half market price, someone would buy the lot and repost it at market price - 1 currant, and make more than a million currants. As would you...
Heck, with that many currants on the line, I might even be willing to take the time to empty some inventory space. With all empty bigger bags, I'd still have to make two trips. . .
My point is that even at 139 currants (which is significantly above the cheapest and/or average YC SDBs out there), there's a market for 5,000+ flowers, so 15,000 flowers is unlikely to break the market.
But throw them in an SDB and let's see! I don't think it's mean at all-- and if I'm wrong, the price goes down and will stay down for awhile...
I guess I must've not expressed myself properly, pardon my english, not my native. what I was thinking about when I wrote "crash the market" was (I think) a forum post by one Glitchen, who said, that after they've made a bunch of furniture items, they wanted to get rid of them fast and they've put them (furniture items) up on the auction at a price which was significantly lower than that on the auctions at the time. and then they got some messages from other (very unhappy) sellers, asking them "not to crash the market" with lower prices, or something to that extent.
so yeah, that's what I meant :) sorry for the misunderstanding.
Posh, you're right about what crashing the market means, but SchWM is saying that because so many people are buying yellow crumb, flooding the market with 15K low-priced flowers would not crash prices for very long. I know when I put a day's harvest in my tower it's gone before I return to check on it, but I didn't understand why until this thread. Thanks kids!
