Animals staying penned!

For some reason, although I released my chickens and butterflies outside the pen, they are all staying in the pen with the pigs. I realy wanted them to wander. Did i do something to prevent this?

  • Li'll Missy, that is the purpose of the pens :) If you want them to wander, you will have to live in a house without a pen.

  • I agree it is annoying that chickens and even butterflies stay in the tiny pen.  I like to have lots of animals and they are all stuck in one tiny spot of my huge $50k house.  I would have stayed in my cottage in the meadow if I realized it would do that.

  • I think it would be much better if only pigs were restricted by pens..
Sometimes my butterflies leave their pen though, which is a bit baffling.

  • To me the animal pen alone is worth 50,000. Any other style of house you could have purchased has unpenned animals.

  • Untrue, MaryLilLamb! My 10k mud-cave in Andra has a pen!

  • i'm with you MLL. i love the pen. too hard to garden otherwise. there are a lot of other home types to get without pen (or let ppl choose if they want the pen or not.).

  • Sorry, I was unaware of that style of housing also had a pen. But this is akin to people moving close to an airport and then complaining about the noise.

  • The last I read, iirc, was that chickens and butterflies can now escape the pens but the pigs, unfortunately cannot.

  • No, I keep my pigs outside of the pen as it is too small to hold 24 pigs along with all the chickens and butterflies. See if moving the butterfly milkers outside of your pen attracts the butterflies outside of the pen.

  • Pigs on second or third floor, chickens and butterflies in the pen.

It's really the only way, it's very sad, but it's what works.

  • Yea- the pen is WAY too small to hold all the pigs. I like having my whole garden for them to roam, and if you feed them well- they don't eat your stuff :)
