Cancelling Grinding - Now Cancels Completely?

Hi, Folks,

I just drank a Flaming Humbaba and tried to crush some Sparkly rock.
I was a bit ambitious with my attempt to grind 260 Sparkly before the buff ran out, so I cancelled the grinding just after the buff finished and expected to have ground the bulk of the ore and not have to pay much extra energy. I'm sure, when I have cancelled grinding previously, that this is how it behaved. However, this time the grinding cancelled completely and I got all the ore back (deposited into my inventory again rather than staying where it was) without grinding any to elements. I tried a less ambitious grind and this worked okay when run to completion. However, repeating the process of cancelling after the Flaming Humbaba buff had expired once again returned all the ore.

Is this new behaviour or did I just imagine cancelling grinding working on partial amounts before?
If this is new, is this the 'expected' behaviour or a bug?

  • Has it not always been like this?  Cancelling both grinding and smelting will return all ore to your inventory, no matter how far along it is.

In-window crafting cannot be stopped, but things with the (X) button can, with no progress, item or energy loss...same with mining and other things.

  • Rodger is correct. You can cancel grinding & smelting, but you cannot cancel crafting. This is not new.
