HOw many people playing at the same time?

I've noticed I keep bumping into the same players over and over, which seems to me that the game must be filtering in some way the number of players each individual 'sees' during their game time.  Is this the case?  Otherwise, I would assume that the streets of Glitch would resemble the streets in a busy Indian or Chinese city.

It is a big disappointing to not run into a bigger pool of  different players though.

  • There is nothing like that as far as I know. The developers have emphasized that they want all players to be in the same, persistent world, which is why they do not have separate servers/realms/worlds.

  • You are probably just playing the game in the same time space as the other people you see frequently.  You and they are 'regulars' and have favorite patterns of places to go and things to do.  There are not separate 'instances' of each street, something that is the case in many other multi-player games.

If you're seeing a lot of the same people, that's an opportunity.  Say hello and get acquainted with them, since you'll probably be seeing them regularly.  Then try playing at different times during the day, if you can, to meet yet more fellow players.

  • This happens in RL too, though. I've only lived in a big, busy cities (DC, NY, Hong Kong). In each one I commuted using the same paths at around the same times, in addition to hanging out at regular bars/restaurants, and I see a lot of the same random people over and over.
