NOW what am I supposed to do?

I appreciate that the team has to work on this (awesome, amazing, wonderful, ever-so-very-cool) game, but now it's CLOSED for at least a week. What in the world am I supposed to do with my time?

I'm afraid I'd end up trying to publicly milk butterflies or nibble some poor New Jersey farmer's pig. That's a one-way trip to the boobie hatch if there ever was one.

I could practice my drink-mixing skills, but you know, I can only try and increase my mood that way so many times a day before I end up passed out on the rug with the cat.

And I can't just go out and start mining the rocks in people's yards. You can well imagine how they might feel about that. Forget taking into account that, as a computer gamer, (a) I have the melanin count of a marshmallow, and (b) I haven't swung anything heavier than a bag of groceries in years, taking a pick to the neighbor's rock garden is generally frowned upon.

I've looked through the garage and I don't seem to have one of those weird looking tinker tools anyway. Nor are there any giant vestibules to which to make donations. The closest I've been able to find are trash cans, and the only reward I get from putting anything in those is a lack of stern looks from the wife. And, a lack of trash, but that's beside the point.

In short ... can't we get a flash game on here for the interim? Robot Unicorn Attack or something? Please?

  • LOL, Ghosty Kips: welcome to Glitch! Now you understand our pain... don't worry, Glitch will invade your dreams and you'll see parallels to it in unexpected places in real life, so it will never really leave you... It's always there inside... festering...

  • Can we please consolidate these "oh poor me, the game is closed" threads or at least move them to Off Topic?  This one at least had some thought put into it, but still...

  • Grumpy much, larky lion? I thought the post was well-written and entertaining. I don't think it belongs in Off Topic because it is actually about Glitch.

  • I prefer "crochety" :)

But being clever and having references to Glitch is not really the same as having a discussion about the game.

  • There is this game I used to play when I was little called Logical Journey of the Zoombinis, I never beat the game, but I just found it and it barely works on this computer cause its so old, but now I won't be able to stop until I finally beat the game that bested me when I was a child!

  • Be nice, "crotchety lion": Ghosty is a newbie, and has well justified excitement :). Isn't it on topic to speak of one's love for the game? Off-topic things would more likely include, in my opinion, discussions on current events, the weather, word games, etc..

  • Perhaps we can agree to disagree, just this once, and maybe a few times in the future :)

And welcome to Glitch, Ghosty Kips!  Glad you are having fun.

  • I know, you can work on the cooking skills. Wife will be happy, and you can cook ahead so there will be meals ready for next test. :)

  • OK, Larky Lion: but just a few times :)

  • If my post was off-topic, my apologies. I saw the "general" forum and decided it would be OK to post, generally. I am a noob, but I find the game fascinating, and I've met a couple of nice people in my travels. Getting folks to smile is just my way of introducing myself, no harm intended.

And I am actually feeling a bit bored now ;o)

No, the cooking is strictly the wife's domain. She's much, much better at it than I am anyway.

I don't know enough to add much in the way of input for the beta testing; I've had an idea or two that I should have jotted down while playing, but I'll probably read more of the forums and go through a bit of the wiki before sticking my neck out too far that way.

  • So far able to resist dropping veggies and extra food on the floor in neat little piles.

  • I think the thread is fine where it is, Ghosty. Ideas belong in the "ideas" forum, not in general, so no need to feel pressured to post only idea-related things here.

  • Thanks for the post!  I was entertained by it because I know exactly what you mean.  I have rumaged through every drawer and box in this house looking for a Tinker Tool with no success.  I can't imagine how I have lived without such a marvel all of these years.  I must have one some place.  When the game is Closed, I spend time in the Wardrobe and the Forums.  I also edit my screen shots and then inspect them to see if I have missed anything and remind myself just what I did when the game was Open.  I keep checking the calendar but it is not moving much and the clock just ticks slowly along.  I suppose when the game opens again I will forget this lull and start living again.

  • Now that I'm (super almost) between graduation and employment, I have absolutely nothing to do. You could always clean the house :P Or contribute to the wiki! :D

Just sign up and monitor the "recent changes", you'll get the hang of it soon enough.

  • @Laurali - "Logical Journey of the Zoombinis"

There was a mini-game released as a free demo of that called "Mudball Wall" which for a little while was very popular around the office where I was working at the time. That was rather fun.

  • Zoombinis!!!!! We love that game!! My daughter got really upset the first time she "lost" some of the little Zoombinis, until she found out they went back to camp and were safe after all.

We always wished they would make little Zoombini toys, along the lines of Mr. Potato head, with blue bodies and all the different eyes, hair/hats, feet...

Mudball Wall is one of my favorite parts of the game!
