Deseprate plea for help!

Hi All,

I'm making a desperate plea for help from as many Glitcheons as possible,

I was unfortunate enough to be the victim of a brutal robbery upon my house. :(

I thought I could trust all my key holders (considering they're actually all my real human friends) but as far as the help desk could suggest is that maybe one of them let another Glitch into my house and they've stolen everything.

All my meat collectors, milkers and piggy feeders, fresh crops and stocks I'd left (from having no room left in bags) and all the different emblems (18) I've been painstakingly collecting have been stolen.

My plea today is to ask if anyone could be kind enough to donate anything to help me build up my collection or alternatively things that I could donate to giants to be able to build up my emblem collection again, it would be massively appreciated.

I know it's a big ask but thank you kindly in advance.

Eleni Carly

EDIT: Would just like to say a massive thank you to every one that's sent things to help me out I'm going to be a very busy lady for the next few days. Thank you so much for your support and I think I'm well on my way to being where I was before the robbery. :)

If you all would like to join, once I've cleared everything up, I'll be purchasing a party pack and throwing a thank you party for every one. All those who've added me as friends will be invited. :)

Look forward to seeing you all soon and thanks again for your giant generosity. (Great to make a few new friends too. )

Posted 10 months ago by Vicereine Linnæa Subscriber! | Permalink
  • yes, please pull everyones key and dont let anyone in, i know its extreme but i really only let 3-4 folks in my house at most, and they are all 1) cool 2) have tons of crap so I know they will never need mine 3) folks I see often enough

i can make you some meat collectors and other junk like that, that is plenty easy

  • All have now been taken from my friends. It's massively unfortunate but I don't want to have to go through this again.

  • I can send an emblem, also some crops and if you want some uncommon cubimals! Im sorry this happened to you, as I know how it feels. I was in the same situation few months ago, but mined alot and was able to get everything back.

  • Characterizing this as a "brutal robbery", when you supplied the key is a bit overboard, don't you think?

  • The software is not supposed to allow keyholders to let other people into your house.  If this happened, it is the result of a bug.  And if it is a bug, the theft may not have been the result of any deliberate action on the part of the keyholders.

There is another bug I encountered last week that allowed non-keyholders I had let in to remain in my house after I had gone offline.  This is not supposed to happen, but it did.  I've also heard of cases when non-keyholders a homeowner let in were able to re-enter later when the homeowner was not there. Again, this is not supposed to happen.

Edited to add:  Keep in mind that the game is in beta.  By definition, beta is a period for discovering cases in which the software performs other than intended.

  • I hate to say it, but it's best to never let anyone into your house unless it's empty... and in that case, people can see the house on its real estate page, so there's no need to enter.

  • I would also like to throw the possibility that you are trying to scam people, Eleni.  Bugs aside, as Splendora has pointed out non-keyholders cannot be towed along with keyholders into your house anymore.  I also find it strange that a person would take everything from your house. That would mean a lot of empty bags in order to carry stuff away. It would either mean a couple of trips, again hard to believe with a tag-a-long non-friend, or it was planned prior.

If you are telling the truth, I apologise for doubting you.

  • Make that a really huge apology Oristia.  Have you ever been accused of a lie when you were telling the truth?  You might know how that feels.
Posted 10 months ago by Phoebe Springback Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I will keep that in mind, Phoebe, but I don't think it is unfair of me to pose the question.
Posted 10 months ago by Oristia Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Sounds like a scam to me also... Sorry
Posted 10 months ago by EarthtoGrace Subscriber! | Permalink
  • As far as I know, people with keys CANNOT let other people into your house.

So it is likely that your things were taken by someone with a key.
Posted 10 months ago by WindBorn Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Why not interact with them personally before calling them liars?

I am out some meat collectors, feeders, and some time....big deal.  I will never miss any of that and maybe I helped someone.

Or are your precious meat collectors too valuable to share?  Seriously? HA HA.

  • If this is the case I'd suggest filing a bug report including the hours between which you were OFF line and came back to find it emptied.  They should be able to tell who was in the house so you would at least be able to find out it was and maybe it will turn out to be an actual bug if the person didn't have a key.

  • To be fair on those who think it may be a scam I'd be pretty wary too in your position. So I do understand where you're coming from.

It's hard in these sorts of situations to not sound so cheesy or desperate that it does sound almost too pathetic, but also not too indifferent that people don't think you care all that much, so why would people bother to help someone who really doesn't seem to care.

This evening I've had the absolute pleasure of meeting some wonderfully kind Glitches and also making a few new friends who I'm more than happy to help out along the way too.

If it helps my case they did leave one thing... my distiller... so at least i can get my Glitch drunk enough not to care.... ^_^ lol

Thanks again everyone for all your time and for those who would like to get to know me/my glitch so that maybe they can know that I'm an honest gamer who's just pretty narked and low about having all her hard work robbed please feel free to add me and maybe I'll help you out some time too.

    Thanks all,
    Eleni Carly

  • That's sad. I can tell you how you feel. Once I gave one of my Glitch friends a key to my house, and the next day, he said that his little brother got onto his account and stole everything. The only thing I could salvage was a bunch of small bags with nothing in them. I wasn't mad at him and I did believe him. I knew he really felt bad about it.
I'll probably send you a bunch of free tools. Will that help?

  • Black Wolf : I did that and talked to someone on live chat the second I realised it had all gone and unfortunately all I got as response was that it pretty much must've been someone with a key or someone with a key let someone else in. :(
I don't know that they're able to check who's been in and out of your house. Would be good if you could see that too to be fair... might pose that as a possible improvement idea.
For now I will not be making any more keys, ever, and none of my friends hold keys at all.

  • Orista -- It would be easy to empty out a house by picking up stuff and then putting it up for auction.  It would not require either advanced planning or multiple trips.

Using this forum to make a false claim of theft would be a pretty bold move.  It would be a clear violation of the TOS, and there are various ways that could be discovered.

Eleni -- I'd also suggest filing a bug report that provides as much info as possible.  It's unlikely that TS will tell you who was in your house during the period in question for reasons of privacy. However, TS can find out for purposes of software testing whether it was a keyholder or a non-keyholder who took your stuff.  If it was a non-keyholder, then that will tell them that there's a bug.

The reason the still wasn't taken is that a still, like icons, can't be picked up by a visitor to a home.

(why would anyone just ruin another's fun? how can ruin another's fun, be fun? i really love you all, but this situation, in the harmed player's position, is completly unfun...)

  • It's one thing to post and say "somebody stole all my stuff, that sucks," and quite another thing to post and say "somebody stole all my stuff, please send me emblems."
Posted 10 months ago by WalruZ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Someone stole all my stuff. Please send me icons and diamonds. j/k. I'm sorry for your experience, Eleni, but it sounds as if the answer you got from live help suggests that a keyholder CAN let a non-keyholder in. This appears to run against the belief of other posters that a keyholder cannot let a non-keyholder in. I wonder if the live help is wrong or the posters are wrong? I do know that, as a keyholder, I couldn't let a non-keyholder in, so, anecdotally, I believe live help is wrong.

I have given out keys to several glitches. Based on Eleni's experience and some of my own experiences, I will not be completely distraught if all my things ever disappear. I would be disappointed, though.

  • WalruZ , I'm sorry that you read my post so that it suggested that I wanted people to specifically send me emblems.

I can understand that the line "... to help me build up my collection..." may have been misread but I didn't actually mean specifically emblems, it included everything that that I had mentioned in the post that had unfortunately been taken or just anything to help.

I sincerely hope this never happens to you.... or maybe it should so you can have the pleasure of witnessing, first hand, the helpfull, kind and caring nature of some of your fellow players.

  • Hi Eleni, I have some emblems you can have I'll try to find you in game or else I'll inbox you :)
Edit: Just inboxed them :) Only 4 I'm afraid it's I all I had.  I wish they'd let us attach more than one item in a mail!

  • One of the principles which drew me to Glitch was the spirit of generosity.  The goal was to cooperate with other people to make Glitch a better place.  I see level 60's giving out millions of currants just because they can.

Yes, there are people who take the herbs that you have planted in the community gardens, but the spirit is that all may plant, all may harvest.  When I first got here, people were releasing hundreds of animals all over the place just because they wanted to, despite the cost to themselves.

Maybe Eleni was a scammer, but in a game of plenty I can share as much as I would like without ever having to worry about running out.  She came into my house, took a few rocks, some jellies, and maybe some milk.  I probably have over a million and a half currants worth of items just laying around, and she took MILK and JELLY?.  Well...maybe she has strange eating habits.

More importantly, Glitch would not be a very fun game if people did not propagate the spirit of kindness.  Just as many Glitchen were kind to me when I first began by giving me bags, etc, all I asked of Eleni was to one day give back to some other Glitchen in need.  Hopefully she will use all of the material wisely.  From what I can tell, she has regained the spirit of giving to everybody.   Now she is hosting a party. When she talks to her friends about Glitch, it will not just be "Some jerk stole from me", but "These random people let me into their house and let me take anything I wanted just to be nice. What a great place!"   Isn't that is what is important?

  • Thank you for that Sentinen and thank you for letting me rob your house ^_^  Very kind of you and even the little things have proven to be a great help. :)

Party will be coming soon. Just need to sit down for five minutes in the evening and get one going. :)
