Lock the percentage of each variety of trees in a region

A region would have a certain percentage of each tree that can grow in the region locked down.  So someone could kill all the fruit trees in a region, but couldn't plant more than a certain percentage of non-fruit trees, thus only fruit trees could replace those killed fruit trees.

And lock down the spice trees in the spice region, so the trolls leave them alone. :)

It might help slow down the harassment of killing all the trees of a region and replacing them with a single species.

  • Maybe in groddle. But otherwise, i think its cool. If people decide beans are useless, kill all those damn trees! Might be nice if backyard and residential block trees couldnt be destroyed except by residents, though.

  • I've heard about adding and removing trees but other then "wood Trees" i haven't been able to destroy one. All that comes up is harvest...

  • @Walla Walla, you have to buy tree poison, as far as i know.

also, -1 for this idea. the whole point of this game (as far as i can gather) is being able to grow the world as we see fit. if people want to kill a certain species off in a certain area, that's their right. someone else can come back in and plant them back up as they were before. i don't think it makes someone a troll, i think it makes the game more challenging and interesting.

  • -1!  I agree with desdemona, even though I hate what is happening to spice right now.

  • LoL I just poison off the new ones and replant with Spice.  They can't watch them forever with antidote!

  • -1  I don't like the griefers killing off a certain species in an area, but this is one of the few places in the game where our choices have a true effect on the world, so I wouldn't want some kind of game mechanic to curtail those choices.  Since the vendors sell beans for all kinds of trees (except somehow for paper), there is no way that an entire species can be killed off.  Even wood trees keep coming back, though supply and demand are way out of synch.  The population of trees will be constantly re-balanced by the Glitchen moving through the area and tending or replacing them, and I think that's fine.

It's the same with animals.  Right now I'm working on building up resources to make eggs to provide a decent balance of animals where they are too sparse.

  • @Mereret, just a short note...I've put out 4 pigs into Community pens and they have all be snatched. One was just taken right in front of me, not two mins. after I put it out.

I won't be putting any more in the Community pens for now. So disheartening.

    What do you guys think?

  • -1.  I think the tree changing is interesting.  It will tend to balance itself to how much of a given tree resource players are using, which is good.  Look at how many more bean and bubble trees are in the world now that a lot of players have high-level cooking and are using stuff other than fruit.
