What makes piggies resistant to capture?

The last 10 or so attempts I've made have failed -- I think overcrowding may make it difficult, but what else?

I tried petting them first, but it's no use.  I've captured many times before, at a LOWER level of Animal Husbandry, and I can't figure out what I'm doing differently!

  • I know this is a silly question....but are you using bait?

  • Are you trying to capture them from the same place repeatedly?  I'm guessing you probably know that you can't, if you're at a high level of Husbandry, but just checking off another reason.

  • Don't run at them with a frying pan!  They don't like that ;-)

  • Yup, I'm using bait.  I'm not attempting the same street in the same period.  It could just be that I've hit a bad run of luck, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a factor I was overlooking.

I'm not using the really heavy frying pan, with the grill ridges, so I would think that bit's okay.  ;>

  • I'm not sure it's a factor, but it does seem to be for other things so I'll ask anyway...
    how is your mood?

  • I find piggies easier to capture if they haven't been petted or nibbled.

  • I don't *think* my mood is a factor, though I'll keep an eye on it.

Violet, I hadn't thought of that -- maybe it works better when they're needy!  No more free petting from here on out!

  • The timeout on piggy capture on the same street is really long, over a month.

  • Actually, the time between same street naps is 42 in-game days, which is 7 real world days, not over a month.
