Eh. It would do you well to read up on the topic of the history of TS and Glitch.
It's a really unique situation. Glitch was in beta before, then launched (I joined during launch), then unlaunched. That's absolutely huge in the world of software development. It takes real balls to pull a product that you've declared final, and say "We're not finished with that yet." I admire this move. It shows that TS care more about perfecting the experience for us than they do about impressing investors and the like. I can't think of any other game developer that actually puts the customer before their finances. I think the least we could do to thank them is to show a little patience as they work to make Glitch into the game it was always meant to be.
What's the hurry? I joined during the first launch and stayed for mobeta (obviously). I feel that all the changes made during the new beta succeeded in taking the game to a whole new, exciting level. Glitch got better and its like an entirely new game with more things for players to do.
Stoot and the Devs, hear my cry. Don't rush it! Take your time, this game is unique and wonderful and has become such an amazing part of my life.
So, with that said, are you ever going to take the game out of beta?
Keep the impatience to launch in mind... when they do relaunch, you're gonna miss beta- it happened last launch, and it's pretty much inevitable next time. Treasure beta :)
Beta is wonderful! Beta has the feeling of endless possibilities just around the corner. Beta is "just us" doing this thing together.
Do we have to take the game out of Beta?
:D
Sirentist, I think the quote you were going for was "You can take the game out of beta, but you can't take the betta out of the bowl, because you know, it's a fish and they sort of need to stay IN the water." Right? Is that it?
Well said Justin! It will launch again when it launches and not before. In the meantime, TS is working very hard to get it nice and shiny for the relaunch and I really do appreciate all the hard work!
We had the Alpha phase, then Beta, then we Trial-Launched, then went back to Beta ~which really is more like a
Gamma phase... me thinks we will be getting close to the Grand ReOpening, when we reach the Omega Phase
~as in: Oh me ga-wd, we's ready for launch! ;P
Before my heart was stolen away by Glitch, I used to play Kingdom of Loathing obsessively. KOL's been in beta for what, 9 years now? And they are awesome. (just not quite as awesome as Glitch ;)
Also: KOL has really great merchandise. I'm not just talking t-shirts, but stickers and plastic toys and a @%$& comic book! I think the more important question here is not about beta, but ARE YOU EVER GOING TO MAKE MERCH???
I love beta. The changes are so much fun that I look forward every day to see if anything new will happen. I'm not even sure if I'll still like it when it does launch or if beta Glitch has spoiled me for consistency.
Why are people so anxious? I'm enjoying the game, beta or release.
I joined at release, the game is now in beta and better than ever. Maybe they should go back to alpha and continue to make it even better.
The only problem with this strategy is that ɑ is the first letter of the Greek alphabet so they would have to get creative for the next phase after alpha; maybe go back to the Linear B alphabet 'zo'.
Can I play and do awesome things and grind spice and feed batterflies and grow purple and get wasted on no-no and nibble meat off of pigs and sing to my butterflies and jump, jump, jump the day away?
