How do I stop "Rock" from bugging me!

I am catching a butterfly that shows a bottle milk, I jump! and there Rock asks me about a goal, the dark screen blinds my view. Chance to obtain milk lost.  I am in the middle of a jump to get some exp, mood, energy and Rock again asks another goal! Heaven knows I am working on a goal!  At times I am not having fun because I am so frustrated with the Harassment of Rock! I buy some time from the Giants to keep Rock busy but even then it continues. This happens when I am cooking, buying or selling goods etc.

Is it just me or is anyone else having this problem too?
Does anyone know how to slow it down or stop it for awhile?

  • Haha, rock harassment.

Unfortunately, I haven't experienced this so I'm not sure what to tell you. (Rock and me are good friends.) Perhaps you are not accepting quests and he keeps bugging you to accept them?

  • I was only bothered at lower levels, you know, when you are learning a bunch of skills and getting those Racing quests all the time. Now that my skills have slowed down to a crawl, the rock stays eerily quiet most of the time.

  • Once, the Rock managed to interrupt my meditation. I was not amused.

It does get better at higher skill levels, though, like Biohazard said. Seems like there's a new quest per new skill learned, and when new skills take longer to learn, you end up with less frequent Rock interruptions.

  • I also found this annoying, in the short time I was able to play this period. Maybe we can have an "Exclamation point sign" pop up right under him when he has something he wants to say to us? It never seems to be extremely important ("Hey! I just interrupted you in the middle of massaging a butterfly that just flew off the side of the screen because I interrupted you, and there's no way to clear messages without using the mouse...") and letting me decide when to be interrupted instead of having the Familiar just barge in would be great!

  • If you're in the middle of certain things, a red sign does pop up on the rock, and it indicates the number of notices he has for you.  It is certainly a bit frustrating at the beginning of the game to be interrupted so frequently, but later on, you may end up wishing for a conversation once in a while. :)

  • Stop going over to his house for dinner.

Then he might actually stop asking you if you can smell what he's cooking.

  • HAHAHA @ Cerulean. The Most Electrifying Item in Glitch Entertainment.

Joy, hang in there. He will become quiet as others have said. Then you'll wonder, "Why haven't you called me? I've done all your quests, kissed strangers like you asked, made you dinner, and bought you ice cream... and now you have nothing to say at all."

  • Could F11 full screen help here? Maybe when you jump your mouse is waking the old guy up? I must say I'm jealous, the only thing he wants me to do is spend half an hour digging loam - what does he want all that loam for? What is loam anyway?

  • If you don't accept a quest when he asks you, he will constantly harass you, at yes, the most inopportune times to see if you want to try it again. It is one of the reasons, I've asked for a "I don't want to do this button right now" for the non-timed quests.

But as others have said, as you get higher in levels, he harasses you less.

One way to cut down is to open your quest list, and scroll through to be sure there are no unannounced quests for you to complete (especially critical at login if you actually finished learning something but haven't gotten the quest for it yet). My typical login time is spent harvesting my trees, nibbling my pigs, squeezing my chickens, milking my butterflies, and then checking my quests to be sure they are all 'accepted' by me.   It doesn't stop the random pop ups, but it does reduce the problem for me.

  • Joy, your not accidently clicking on him when you jump for the milk etc...maybe? I don't remember being interrupted too much by the rock in the beginning. I know I would miss him if he didn't talk to me..cos I luv ma wee rock :D  lol

  • The way to make him stop bugging you is to level up and complete a bunch of quests.  After a while he becomes suspiciously silent....
