Auto Time Out or Sleep Mode

I never thought I would say this about any game, but since a glitch loses energy and mood when "idle" and somehow I seem to frequently forget to close the darned window.. and you can maybe call it a personal problem or whatever, but I don't care.. it happens.. and when I come back I lack energy and mood and I might even wake up in hell and have missed all the new day's energy and mood too... This does seem to be a frequent issue for me.  I would just like to have a time out setting, not unlike the sleep-mode for the computer.  If I want it to log me out after 10 minutes idle, it should do it.  Every other game I play used to boot me out if I left it.. but this one doesn't... yet this one alone of all of them, actually has consequences for sitting around in game.  Another option would be to actually REWARD idle activity, with energy and mood boosts.. simply because, if you are asleep (your glitch is asleep).. its quite logical that you should not be consuming much energy, and should wake relatively replenished....

  • Ya, I agree. I often find that my character has died while AFK. It never stops to annoy me. :(

  • I dislike auto-booting, it is my least favourite function in many games, and its lack is one of the very few things IMO that FFXI got right.

If auto-disconnect is implemented, at least make sure there is an option for those of us who do not want the feature to not have it apply to our accounts.

Honestly since one is logged in to the home page unless one specifically logs out, I just close the "world window" when I leave my desk to deal with the fleshy world, and hit enter world when I come back.

    Easy fix, no coding involved.

  • Will an "exit the world" button beside the "enter the world" button do?

  • TJ Fuzzybut, maybe I wasn't clear on this.  I did specifically want it to be an option/setting, as in something the player controls, just like I can control the sleep function on my computer, or the sound functions in the game.  An issue I do have is sometimes I have to go do something I think takes 5 minutes and it ends up taking much longer.. then I forget I didn't close the game.  Also, sometimes a window has the ability to "hide" on a crowded screen and you dont realize it is still open.  I've dont that.. thinking I closed every single window only to find one hanging in there somewhere.. of course now that window is often the glitch world... where I get screwed for doing so :-/

Mal'akh, I don't think an "exit the world" button next to the "enter the world" button would do the trick for this at all.

  • I disagree with this. Mood and energy loss are disincentives to prolonged AFK, preventing a bunch of AFK people crowding the place. Seems to me it would be a lot easier to learn to exit the game than to introduce a feature that could possibly conflict with the design philosophy. Sometimes you gotta be spanked a few times before you learn.

  • I don't see how in the world there is a conflict, if a "Sleep mode" would effectively log you out if you are AFK too long, according to your wishes?  There is no incentive to stay AFK if you are automatically logged out...
