Here, pig! (A humble proposal to help with the piggy re-population)

I have used the powers of my imagination to help with the re-population effort of piggies, but also a framework to use the power of players to assist with other projects in the world!

Here's my proposal, and I shall customize it specifically for the piggy population problem!

1)  Setup a cool system for recurring quests.  Players are eligible for these quests if they have maxed out a certain skill tree.  Maybe there's an office for the Maxification of Imagination or something like that, maybe there are secret quest drop zones, or maybe there's a job posting board!  More imagination should be applied here, and there's also the chance to tie this to a specific Giant.
2)  The quests would use some cool statistical logic to solve for a specific world deficit problem!  Perhaps a certain tree type has become all but extinct!  Maybe all the piggies are gone!  The quest received would only be available when there is something in the world that is out of balance and people interested in fixing it can participate!
3)  The quest should be repeatable, but the conditions for repeating it will need to be balanced.  Perhaps once a game day, or when you get another emblem for the patron Giant of the skill tree or meet another condition.

For the piggy problem, it would work like this;
1)  Since we are attempting to create new piggies, and not just move them around, the quest would be available to people who have maxed out Animal Kinship, and also learned Remote Herd-keeping and Animal Husbandry.  This quest will require you to season an egg, hatch a piggy, and feed it up so it hatches on the street where it needs to live!
2)  Create a list of all the streets and determine which ones need some piggies!  Maybe they are not appropriate for some of the streets, like deep in the savanna (although having to deposit some there would be a fun quest!).  Now that you have the list, set the threshold for each street to X number of piggies.  If the threshold falls behind, that street is included in the list of streets that players are assigned randomly for the quest!
3)   Humbaba loves the piggies, so lets involve him somehow!  I think this quest should give you some Humbaba favor, and maybe be available to people who have spent 3 or 4 humbaba emblems?  Maybe you get some Humbaba Favor Quest tokens you can spend to do the quests when you meet some other conditions?  Maybe after petting 20 piggies in a day, you get the chance to do this special quest?  Maybe there's a new character like The Rube that walks around and if a player on that street meets the condition, they get the quest!  Perhaps there is a messenger for each of the giants wandering about from street to street.  It would be exciting to report his location so that players can hunt for specific quest givers!  Fun fun!!

I hope this has caused other people to start up their imagination machines!  I know I'm already thinking of many ways this could be implemented in a fun fashion.  Please give me feedback or brainstorm your own twists!  GET YOUR IMAGINATIONS GOING!

  • I'd like to see a reward for this be something that can't otherwise be made or bought--maybe even a trophy for so many completed ones, and a separate trophy for each resource (wood tree trophy, pig trophy, etc.).

  • I'm thinking the organization involved with these quests should be something about harmony.  Hmm hmm!  Mustn't let any of the giants' imaginations take over completely, or the world will lose its balance!  Rise, my Glitchy friends!  :D

  • Another crazy imagination idea for rewards;  balloons we can carry around and release for something really awesome to happen...  Like a super Random Kindness for the whole street or something.

    Or, perhaps kites!  Oh no, I am getting carried awaaaaay!

  • I really like this idea :D A way for players to be involved with keeping the world sufficiently populated. And it could work both ways, like say if a street is overpopulated by something there could be a quest for capturing and releasing them onto another street (bonus if taking something from an overpopulated area to an underpopulated one).

    And note that to have AK maxed out you would need to have RHK and RH anyway as those are required by the last one :) Not sure about requiring emblems because I for one only aimed for two of each (one to spend, one to keep), but with the new Icons that certainly gives people a reason to get more emblems.
