What you love and why

Since my highly creative bumpdown threads have gone offtopic, i think its better to have an ontopic thread:
What do you love on glitch and why ?
Tell us your personal glitch XPerience and how it affects your days in real life too ...
What was the most hilarious, unbelievable or weird thing ever happened to you in glitch?

  • It's such a simple thing, but the reaction of the piggies when you pet them always makes me smile. It' just so darn cute!

  • What I love about Glitch: the emerging culture we are creating together
    *
Personal Glitch experience compared to real life: Even though I don't want to be, I tend to be a bit anti-social and shy away from groups
    *
What was most hilarious thing that happened to me in Glitch: When I began playing over a year ago at my daughter's  invitation,  I made an assumption that Nanookie was my daughter from real life.  I had her over to my newly purchased home in Marrakesh and gave her hugs and such.  I spoke to her like I would my daughter; all familiar and lovey.  Soon my real daughter became obvious as being "Mursock" in the game.  It was several months before I worked up the nerve to tell Nanookie of my misunderstanding.   Now it seems silly, in Glitch, all of us hug, kiss, splank, etc. each other.  I'm really glad that it happened this way because Nanookie is totally awesome and I always get a hug from her when we meet up in the game.

  • Wow, thanks a million for sharing your thoughts and feelings!
Teet, calling that story of yours wonderful and incredible would be a huge understatement, i LOVE it really !!!
*hugs all previous posters (and following ones too, since he just finished learning the time independent hugging skill 1)*

  • I love the absence of fighting, and the rich environment. And I love what StevenSoul has been trying to do in this and some other threads.

I love the way I found people in the game to help me (including Blanky I think) the instant I needed help.

I've only played a few hours. I guess the most hilarious thing that happened to me was going to hell before I even knew there was such a thing, and not knowing how to get out. I guess another would be navigating through the obstacle course to be able to use the subway.

  • I love you, StevenSoul, because you are the kindest, most well spoken and pleasant man. We have chatted alot while playing and I wish I could meet you in real life in Nuremberg and have some apfel strudel and kaffee.

  • Where do I begin?

I love the art style and presentation of the game. Few games have had such a successful blend of popular culture, wit, art, and quirk. I love that it's 2D as well!

I love the (as marcm says) the laid back nature of the game. Whereas many online games are all about grinding, killing, leveling up, Glitch is a much more relaxed approach which I think has been underutilized in gaming in general.

I love that I can get my skills up when I'm offline, even though they aren't totally necessary.

    I love the music.

    I love exploring.

I love that we get to build the world a bit.

    I love the people.

I love the technical aspects and how well thought-out they are.

    I love yoga frogs.

    There's a lot more, but I digress.

As far as my day-to-day, like I said before I think Glitch is as much a piece of art as it is a game (in addition to the 'cultural' aspects of it) and art brightens my day. So it is nice to have a piece of art I can interact with and enjoy on my own time and allow it liven me up.

  • Ahaha, teet, I think of that everytime I play Glitch!  From my perspective, I just remember thinking, "wow, this teet person really digs me!  She joined my group, she invited me to her house, she gave me a tomato..."

After I while I thought you were someone else who knew me playing with a duplicate account, but I was too shy to ask where else I knew you from!

  • thanks napabeth your your kind words, though i ´m just a tiny sparkle in a huge sparkly glitch community so i can assure that there are so many great people around, like yourself ;)

  • I love the people mostly, but the artwork's fantastic.
I actually find all real life stresses vanishing as I loose myself in Ur.
I love just wondering around from area to area. My favourites have to be Groddle, Ix and Alakol.  Groddle's just lovely, real life should look like Groddle.
Ix is just crazy and a trip through there often puts me in a good mood. Especially Flipside. I love that street. Whoever designed it deserves a very big High 5.
Alakol's a little more barren, but very pretty backgrounds going on there... oh and Kajuu too, Kajuu's really stunning, but the blue tinge does hurt my eyes after a while.

Glitch just makes my real life a lot better. So much so that I've been substituting my nicotine addiction for my Glitch addiction.  I like to call it "Quitting through Glitching" and it was really the best way I've quit smoking so far! These last few days without it have been hard, but I managed to stay strong just thinking of my next Glitch fix. So Glitch is more addictive than nicotine. Tobacco companies beware!   I just hope the government don't find out, or they'll tax us for using Glitch somehow o_o

  • It was a tomato! You are so right Nanookie!  The name of your group had something to do withPrincipia Discordia and that is one of the reasons I thought you were (Mursock) as that is something she finds agreement with.  Since  Mursock lives in Oregon and I am in Florida, it's very very cool to be able to play in glitch together.

  • Hahah, thats a great story as well, Ebil ! I am sure Tiny Speck willbe delighted to read that, as i am for i am not smoking at all and i hate the tobacco industries practices ...
Plus we´d have a more urgent pressure for Tiny Speck to open gates again ;)

  • I love this thread!

I like what the devs created, but I love the community it has become. Signing on to Glitch is like walking into a friend's house or welcoming friends into your own.

I love when I post something in global chat and people shout (I assume its shouting when its in all caps) "AVERY!"

I love shouting other people's names when they come online.

I love hell parties! and mass suicides to get there!

I love the wit the devs have. The street names never fail to crack me up!

I love the drug ring Don started.

    I love Innie's orphanage.

I love coming to the forums and seeing intelligent conversation/debates (typically).

I love the ghost hunting parties we had.

I ADORED the EOTW party that lasted the entire 24 hours leading up to reset.

I think what I truly love about this game is it isn't about the individual. Glitch is the community. Sure, you could play it just for you where leveling up and being wealthy was all that was important to you. But it is such an enriching experience when you're here to see friends rather than being here to "win" (though I do also love the "Wait! You were just about to win the game!" page when you have to refresh the browser).

  • I love threads like this where people are openly saying how much they enjoy the sweet little things about the game and other Glitchens.

I love just wandering around, with no particular objective. I will never be the richest Glitchen, but I stop and pet the paper trees. The pure pleasure of the piggies is irresistible. Our cute little bodies and the way we can fall and fall and fall or jump up into the trees simply enchants me.

The variery of the landscapes and flora and fauna is always delightful. The game is a treat for my eyes. But on top of that is the joy of playing and laughing at the comments and antics of the characters (Glitchens, piggies, chickens, rocks, trees and everything!).

  • @Avery "Signing on to Glitch is like walking into a friend's house or welcoming friends into your own."
That makes me want to run over to share a cup of coffee and I don't even know you (((hugs)))

  • @gallagirl Lets drink coffee together when the game opens! Though I could SO go for a RL cup right now. Too bad I've got to head to work. :p

  • Hah! I forgot there is coffee in-game. I guess because we don't make it I just gloss over it at the grocer's.
Posted 15 months ago by shipwreck Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Avery - I would love too!
@ everyone - Shall we all pass out coffee today in honor of Steven's lovely thread and Avery's warm-hearted sentiment?

  • I love my friends!  love is a word I do not use lightly, I do not love a house, a tree, animal or other items. My friends in Glitch are each and individually special. Some bring me laughter, some enlightenment, some friends uplifts me, some friends lifts my spirit, some press my patience, some make me smile then my heart feels right, some of my friends show understanding that brings tears to my eyes because they feel my heart, many friends teach me and some are just plain playful!
And the Glitch world feels just right!

  • I love lamp.

But seriously, where's the coffee? I'm working until late but I would love to pop in.

  • I love the crabs! Sometimes I sidle up to my long-suffering other half IRL snapping my hands together like pincers murmuring "hey man, got any tunes?"

Dear TS, if you are considering merchandise, I would buy basically any item of merchandise with a crab on. Seriously. It will be too bad it won't animate, but I'll still buy it.

Also, Ix. And music boxes. Whoever did the music for the boxes, you are awesome.

  • I love the creativity of my fellow players. The Glitch art is all incredible, and I am even more blown away by all the songs, so cleverly worded and expertly performed.

I love the creativity of the game-makers. This game is the most gorgeous online environment I've ever visited. (And from the amount of time I spend here, I clearly find it more appealing than most of my local offline environments as well!)
