Ridiculous auction prices on seasonal items lol

Someone just put a single piece of Birch Candy up for Auction for 10,000 Currants!? Do they really believe that it is going to sell? Aren't they going to lose a huge amount on the listing fee if it doesn't? Also prices have been increasing for guano (used to grow fast pumpkins and make Carob candy) and paper (used to make Birch Candy). I really scratch my head sometimes at what people believe "the market can bear".

  • You wouldn't want TS to regulate the free market, would you?

  • Dude, people are buying our crap at these prices faster than we can post it (and by crap, I of course mean guano), so the prices are not exactly ridiculous, if people are willing to pay them.

Think of it as a holiday rush, like people trying to buy a Tickle-Me-Elmoh, except that instead of cute and red, it's brown and stinky!

  • If people didn't buy the items, they wouldn't be selling so high. Supply & Demand makes for natural inflation.

EDIT: Honestly, with very little coins spent, i was able to grow all my pumpkins, get all 5 carvings, make all possible pumpkin related food/drink, as well as the non-pumpkin candy. It isn't hard, it isn't expensive. The fact that people are impatient and need to buy the items instead farming for craft items & making them on their own, well, then it is their own problem when the auction prices are too high.

~ Pumpkins are easy enough to grow, and the staff even made them growable in ALL gardens.
~ Guano is easy enough to find, and if you don't feel the need to hurry and make your pumpkins grow fast, you only need the amount for the candy. If you do feel the need, farm a bit more.
~ Paper is easy too: www.glitch-strategy.com/wik...
~ Every other ingredient you could need is either vendor purchasable, or easily farmed/crafted.

  • No matter where you go, the initial (and final) release of something will always be more expensive than its average value. It's sort of like the "new car excitement".

Just wait a couple of days, or even a day, until more players get involved (thus increasing the supply/competition between sellers) and surely, the prices will go down to a reasonable level. Of course, they won't reach their everyday prices, but decrease to something affordable given the special occasion.

If you dislike very limited and expensive options, I'd recommend avoiding the start and the end of the Holiday season -- for virtual goods that is. :) By the way, this is a great time to buy off-season items.
