How do you separate out your bags?

OK so just reading my subject line I realize that it is highly subjective.....I'm curious as to how people are grouping their items together. I have one bag (group) labeled food, and another cooking, and another equipment.....etc....

and btw.....I LOVE this game and am totally addicted right now........help....!

  • I start off all organised. I have "Eat Me", "Drink Me", "Rocks" "Seeds", "Stuff to Sell"  etc...
Then after about an hour of playing, there's food in the drinks bag, drinks in the tool boxes, sales stuff in the veggie bag, rocks in the music blocks bag...
Then eventually it all gets so mixed up that I can't deal with it anymore, I go home dump everything on the floor, sort it all out nicely, put a bunch in storage, get all nice and organised again and...
I go mess it all up again. Yay!?

  • ahhh so buying a house is a good idea then?
Posted 18 months ago by Stormy Weather Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Everybody buys a house for a different reason. I think one of the attractions is just having somewhere that's yours. Personally I think the greatest value of a house is the garden. Your own livestock & trees are very nice but, until you've got automated meat/milk collectors, I think you might as well just be harvesting from livestock & trees that you pass in public streets.

Generally I think most people are pretty honest - if you stand on a public street and drop all your belongings at your feet in order to sort them out, I doubt that anybody passing is going to take anything. In fact sometimes I pass individual items lying alone on the ground... come back five minutes later and they're still there LOL. Find a dead-end street to increase your privacy.

To answer the original question. Yeah, I start with rocks, meals, food, tools, emblems - but currently there's gas in my food bag, jam in my rocks bag...

There's so many specialized tools for cooking, I have one toolbox for general tools and another for culinary tools.

I like the fact that empty bags have no inherent value - you can't sell or auction them. Whenever I upgraded a bag to a bigger bag I'd find a random newbie to give it to as a gift. I see an incredible amount of Paying It Forward in Glitch.

  • "To answer the original question. Yeah, I start with rocks, meals, food, tools, emblems - but currently there's gas in my food bag, jam in my rocks bag..."

    that's very funny...so I'm not alone.

That's good to know about the bags. When I'm able to upgrade I will pay them forward.

  • My main reason for buying a house was so I had somewhere "Safe" to drop things and sort out my stuff without any danger of passersby helping themselves to things.
I know most people are trustworthy, but you can never tell. I just heard today about someone having their blockmaker stolen from them at a project, even though they left a note saying it was theirs and they were right there at the project. That kind of puts me off the trusting thing a little.

Then the storage was a huge help as well. I sometimes just dump stuff on the floor, when I'm too lazy to open and organise the storage cabinet, but I eventually get around to putting it all away nice and tidy :)

  • I read a tip somewhere around here that seems to be helping.

The game will automatically put an item in the left most empty spot.  (Unless you have a partial stack of something... it'll finish up a partial stack first)

So I've started going out in the world with one or two empty bags in the far left spots.  That way, stuff doesn't get sorted all over the place and all I have to do is go through those two bags and click and drag things to the bags they belong in.
Posted 18 months ago by Pirate Apples Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Oh - now that's SMART! I'd noticed the stuff goes in the left-most spots but my solution to that was to put FULL bags there... which seems kinda stupid when you explain your system.
Posted 18 months ago by Snazzlefrazz Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yep, Pirate Apples, I do something similar. I've got a bag named "Inbox" in the far left spot, so collect all the random stuff I get for sorting later. After that, I've got "Other" (which is largely powders, seasoned eggs and beans, paper, that sort of thing), "Drink Ingredients", "Groceries", "Produce", "Animals" (which is actually animal products, not animals), "Rocks", "Prepared Food". Then there's two toolboxes, "Other Tools" and "Kitchen Tools". I keep my bags generally color-coded -- all the food ingredients are in green bags, and "Inbox" and "Other" are the same color.

  • Ebil - that's crazy that someone would steal a blockmaker. I would have thought that by the time anyone was skilled enough to use it, they'd have money coming out of their ears. But maybe they didn't have the skills and just took it to sell :-(

Just like the real world, there's all manner of people in Glitch... that's part of the fun. But I think in general most people are generous - certainly everybody I've come across. Sometimes it takes a while to get with the program... to understand that other people will be generous to you and you should be generous with other people - especially when you're working hard for every currant. For example, when I was newer than I am now, I was exploring the treetops in a street somewhere - probably Groddle Forest, and I found an emblem sitting in the branches. First emblem I'd seen. I freaked out... grabbed it so fast... then there was another in the next branch... and another... I grabbed the lot of them... every single one... about a dozen... including the duplicates. At the time I thought it was some random spawning thing & I was just very VERY lucky. Now I suspect it was probably some kind person who'd left them up there to help people and I probably should have taken one or two and left the rest. Now I assuage my guilt by handing out my duplicate emblems to random passers-by :-)

It's a separate issue, but I think notes are too awkward - having to choose to interact with it, then choosing to read it... I'm sure a lot of them get ignored.

  • I have to say, now that I'm higher-level (ish) I love giving out my extra stuff to newer players. Or anybody, really. I'm constantly giving away emblems and music blocks. I've also taken to hiding food and drinks behind columns in various parts of the game. I left some earthshakers hidden behind columns in the deeps earlier today, and was hiding food and drinks behind things in Bertola and Alakol recently.

  • Going from left to right:
A tool box for tools without visible wear indicators; focusing orb, cooking tools, seasoning tools, test tube and beaker.
A tool box for tools with visible wear indicators; Tinkertool, gardening tools, mining tools, alchemy tools
Large bag labeled "overflow" This is the first bag stuff goes into when I don't have open space in the main level
Large bag labeled "overflow II" see above
Large bag labeled "Gems" this is a carryover from when I did a lot of mining, but I use it to hold items I want to keep handy or are high price for donating
~Four empty spots, I use these to monitor what is going in to my inventory
Large bag labeled "food stuffs" for food and beverage
A stack of spinach, you always need to keep some handy
Large bag labeled "plants and animals" I keep tree antidote (I used to keep poison, but they made it too easy to accidentally poison trees) seasoned beans, baby animals and seasoned eggs
Large bag labeled "raw materials" tree items, barnacles, and a bunch of other base items (metal ingots and hooch for instance)
I finish out my inventory with a spice rack, alchemistry kit and a elemental pouch

That's all in my inventory, let me know if you want to hear about how I organize the bags at my house!

  • I have a tool box, a mining bag, a kitchen tools bag, a food bag, a drink bag, a gas/bubble bag, a seed bag, a spice rack, and a random bag that always has a music block and emblem in it etc..

     and maybe one more.

When i go to the garden vendor i just move my "seed bag" to the far left so it automatically gets filled, when I mine the mining bags goes left, etc.....

And yeah same as everyone else, everything gets jumbled so the living room floor is often filled with random stuff when i try and reorganize.

  • UGH.. I am constantly sorting and resorting my bags..  hate being a Virgo at times.

As I progress more into the game and find myself doing more projects, I've had to break down even my "raw veggie" bags down to "green raw veggies"  drinks into two categories - drinks and a bag for liquids (sauces and drinks I wouldn't use).

I'm thinking that this next test I might color code my bags..  Green - veggies  Pink - food & drink items Brown - dirt loam.. etc....

  • I keep an empty bag at left called INBOX, so new things drop there and then I move to respectives:

    - inbox
    - elemental
    - toolbox
    - alchemy (small)
    - alchemistry kit
    - kitchen (small)
    - spice rack
    - many foods and rocks bags
    - things (for seasoners, emblems, tickets and keys)
    - action (for bear, focus orb, powders, paper...)
    - teleport scripts
    - stuffs (for seeds, earth, jelisiac, barnacle, flowers, engine, papers, wood, gas, etc)

  • I need bags within bags. My bags are:
    Kitchen Tools
Harvest (this is grain, cherries, butterfly milk and it's kin, flour and maybe a tortilla & green eggs)
    Fruit
    Vegetable
    Drinks
    Sauces
    Spice Rack
    Extra Food
Rock bag (this has the rock tools; smelter, grinder, ax, hatchet, shovel, & spaces for rocks)
    Elemental Bag,
    Beaker & Bubbles
    Music Blox
    And 2 extra bags.
My yard and house are littered with items AND my cabinet is full. It just dawned on me today, that maybe...just maybe, I don't need to keep all the sauces & drinks on hand, just in case. I just abhor the idea of having to make all the components just to make a dish. I do enough of that at home.
Posted 18 months ago by Jarhaven Subscriber! | Permalink
  • **Left side
    1 Toolbox
2 Immediate needs-Meditation orb, shrine powder, stuff I want to get at right away depending on my task
3 Harvest bag-for whatever task I'm focusing on at the moment.
    4 Harvest bag
    5 Harvest bag
    6 Harvest bag
    7 Harvest bag
    8 Miscellaneous-keys, emo bear, paper
    9 Brick and resources
    10 Meals and drinks
    11 Spice bag
    12 Produce
    13 Groceries
    14 Elemental bag
    15 Seed packets
    16 Kitchen tools
    **Right side

When I fill up all bags, I go back home to sort the items out of harvest bags and then head back out.

Also I try not to ever completely let any stack get to zero in bags 8-15. That way, if I pick something up or make something, it goes to its designated slot everytime.

My house has a totally different system :)
Posted 18 months ago by MaryLiLamb Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I keep an empty slot first (though I'm liking the Inbox bag idea), so I can see items come in, then I have the following bags:
    Stuff to sell/Other
    Barnacles/Fireflies/Crystals
Mining (earthshakers, lots of empty slots, ore, ingots)
Projects (dirt, loam, peat, planks, etc)
    Red Toolbox (regular tools)
    Chrome Toolbox (kitchen tools)
    Spice Rack
Basics (cherries, meat, eggs, milk, etc)
Grown or Made Basics (veggies, rice, butter, cheese, flour)
    Fruit
    Drinks
Store bought stuff (from grocery) and Sauces
    Cooked Foods
    Alchemy Kit
    Elemental Bag

I also keep bags in my storage cabinet and I have my music blox arranged there so I know what I have and what I'm still missing.

When I cook, I always try to leave at least one ingredient in the slot (so if there is one spice, I make more for a recipe) so that when I get more items either through buying, growing or making, the stuff self-sorts.  It gets ugly fast if I don't do this...

  • I'd strongly advise buying a house or even an apt if that's all you can afford.  It's great to have some place SAFE to dump stuff & sort stuff.  When I was much newer I was mining and I got a gem.  It just lay on the ground because my bag was full.  While I was eating something to open a slot someone came up and snatched the gem right out from under me!  Sure most glitches are wonderful but there are enough who would think it was funny to take stuff you had placed on the ground.  I love PirateApples and MaryLiLamb's method of sorting!  Learn something new every day!

  • "Tools" go in a big grey bag, "Emblems" go in a normal-sized grey bag (it was my first one), and "Consumables" go in a pink, normal-sized grey bag. I also have a Spice Rack. I used to have an Alchemy Kit and Elemental Bag, which I used for a bit, but then decided to donate to giants.

I'd get more bags and storage items if I didn't just burn my wallet buying a house.

  • I brought a house to help me store my stuff and therefore carrying less, although that never seems to happen, my house storage is full and there's alot of stuff jumbled together on the floor!!
I too label my bags into groups (cooked food, drinks, groceries, gems, rocks, etc) and my toolboxes, one is for anything to do with cooking/gardening and other mining/refining, etc, then spice rack, alchemy kit and elemental bag.. I agree with someone above who said they need bags withing bags!!!

I'm also into giving, and will randomly leave musicboxes I already own in different spots or handout freebies to newbies because I know how hard it was start out!

  • Looking back on it, I have a LOT of stuff... (Note: Whenever the term Bag is used, substitute Bigger Bag)

Left to right: Bag of meats (which I think I'm going to auction off/empty out and use as something else, not sure what the something else would be, though...)
Bag of beverages (assorted, about half of which are milk)
Bag of foodstuffs (random, depending on what I have on hand)
Bag of stuff 'for the house' (not a well-labeled bag. Good for things that I want to drop off at the house, like emblems or seeds or whatnot, but also good for long-term carrying items like Random Kindness or teleport scripts - never know when you're going to want to use the latter. Currently it's also housing foodstuffs spillover as well as assorted objects acquired in Baqala that I have yet to go through.)
Bag for Musicblocks (because with high animal and plant skills comes great numbers of the beasts)
Bag for Gems (because I do the mining thing as I go, and it's nice to separate the wheat from the chaff as it were)
An Alchemistry Kit (because I needed one and that's the slot it went to at that time)
A bag for fireflies and harvested gas (plus one emotional bear)
A bag for rocks (yup, a whole bag for rocks)
    Bag of eggs and grain
    Bag of cherries and allspice
An elemental pouch (again, because I needed one and that's the slot it went to)
    A toolbox
Another toolbox (man I have a lot of tools)
A bag for assorted harvested odds and ends. (Planks, jellisacs, dirt, loam, barnacles, crystals, paper... that sort of thing winds up here)
And one last bag for beans and bubbles.

As you can probably tell, I'm a pack rat/hoarder sort of player. I mean really, I know I don't need that much on hand, but I have them anyhow. It makes me happy to have them, I guess. I restock as necessary, and when I have overflow I auction it off.

As for the musicblock/gem/rock trio of bags, I'll use them for eachother's overflow. So if I'm out wandering the streets and collecting bazillions of musicblocks, I'll probably fill up at least one bag and probably need to spill over into the gem section. Likewise, if I'm on a mining binge I'm going to fill up as much as I can before heading topside again. They're also good for holding things I want to toss into the shrine, like when I make too many of a compound and want to get rid of it, or if the tree gives me Yet Another Fertilidust Lite. This past test, I filled up all three with purple flowers.

Yes, I am insane. (What else was I going to do while waiting for that darn Yellow Crumb?)

  • Left to right, all bigger bags:

    Toolbox of tools
Toolbox of cookware (I have two of most in case one breaks during project work)
    Tinkertool (For ease of use)
Empty slot for incoming items (Though I'm liking this "Inbox" bag idea)
Overflow (Incoming items, crops to sell, musicblocks to donate, etc)
Items (Paper, gas, bubbles, and non-resource items (powders, random kindness, etc). This is also where my emotional bear and focusing orb live.)
    Elemental Pouch
    Spice Rack
    Alchemistry Kit
    Project Items
(Loam, planks, fuel cells, firefly jars, etc)
Drinks (With two stacks each ice cubes and hooch)
Raw Ingredients (Syrup, honey, eggs, rice, oats, olive oil, etc)
Ingredients (Butter, buns, cheese, noodles, etc)
Produce (Usually dominated by taters, cabbage, onions, and maters)
Beans n Cherries n Meat n Milx (For some reason, I just LOVE looking at this bag when it's full.)
Prepared Foods and Sauces (Dominated by Awesome Stews, but also contains project leftovers, Hot n Fizzy sauce, and things that get thrown at me while harvesting)

Then at my house I have bags for:
    Seeds
    Street Trophies & Emblems
    Keepsakes
(Smaller bag, for meaningful notes and such)
    Extra Produce
    Extra Resources
    (Planks, earth, etc)
Favor Gainers (Gems, music blocks, etc)

I keep most of my cabinet empty so I can use the slots to reorganize the bags in my inventory, but use the bottom two rows for teleportation scripts.

I was helping at a project and then did a crash course on purple flower farming just before the party, and boy howdy did things get all scrambled. • Lilith: right there with you, projects always throw my bags into chaos.
Posted 18 months ago by Sheepy Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I have, approximately from left to right:

Incoming (kept open for sorting as I go)
Food and Drink (mostly prepared food, like stew, plus milk, meat and cabbage for emergencies)
Handy items (powders, seasoners, random kindness, spinach - things I use in the "wild")
    Kitchen
    Mining
    Toolbox
    Spice Rack
    Elemental pouch
Donations (spare music boxes, gems, veggies and items to sell)
    Produce
    Gardening (seeds and seasoned beans)
Raw Materials (cherries, meat, milk, cheese, grain)
    Gas and Vapours
For Projects (jellisac, barnacles, planks, earth, loam, crystals, paper)
Random (yeti, crab earphones, shiny object, project trophy pieces)

And I have a "groceries" at home with oils, sauces, etc to use in cooking.

For all this, inevitably, I will be without some essential ingredient or item just when I need it most.  I left almost everything at home the first time I went to Baqala and then found, of course, that I couldn't participate in the project.
Posted 18 months ago by Tradescantia Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I've decided and changed, and rethought and refined and tweaked and updated...  But currently -

3x Large Brown Bags for incoming stuff that I sort periodically into the other bags.
1x Large Brown Bag for fireflies, keys, pig bait and the bear (I lost my yeti)
1x Large Green Bag for other pickups (gas and bubbles) and seeds.
1x Large Pink Bag for food type pickups (meat, milk, spice and grain)
1x Large Pink Bag for food, produce and meals.
1x Large Pink Bag for Drinkies.
1x Large Blue Bag for Musicblocks (and Gem overflow).
2x Large Grey Bags for Emblems (and Gem overflow). I should probably ditch one of these back at the house.
1x Large Grey Bag for Powders and Gems
1x Elemental Pouch (I have a spare back at the house)
1x Alchemistry Kit (I have a spare back at the house)
2x Chrome Toolboxes for tools. Mining and Refining in one, Gardening and Cooking in t'other.

I've opted against Spice Racks this test, and I try and make the fruit, spice, etc. that I need when I need it rather than keeping stores of every single item type every made. I tried that way previous tests and while it's nice to have a big pile of Mangosteens "just in case" it's a waste of a slot. To be honest, I'm not sure the Alchemisty Kit and Toolboxes are really wasting slots as well -- the Alchemisty Kit keeps way more compounds than I really need and I've got empty slots in both toolboxes too that I can't use. Honestly, I think the specialist containers need to have more of a justification if they're to be universally liked. The pouch is *needed* to hold elements for example. Maybe spices and compounds should be dropped if you haven't got the right container to hold them...

  • I am always reorganizing my bags, seems to just be a fact of life in both f/s and Glitch.
I carry 2 toolboxes, one for general tools (green) and one for kitchen (red/hot) .  Love the fact absolutely nothing can go into either box but these items.
So glad we can always rename our bags because of the crazy way they seem to fill up. Whenever a bag is down to a few items I switch things around and name the empty bag MT and leave it by the door so on  my way out I can always grab a bag to go into my first empty left hand spot.
I don't usually carry my bubble bag, gas bag, veggies, green veggies, seeds, fruits, food ingreds, booze/beer, God emblems, Gems, Rocks, 2 bags for music boxes, 2 bags fireflies one empty one full, elements full, Misc (xtra paper, no no, xtra shrine etc) GOOD LORD these are in my storage plus a few more...
I do carry my Orb, spinach for jumping, empty space or two, then small MT bag, large MT, then bags I'm out to fill up like seed shopping, mining, barnacle hunting etc. then spice box, tool boxes, cooked foods, drinks.
I have tried color to keep groups together but not enough game time as I already spend too much time sorting all this stuff out.

This works for me only cause I put all bags not being carried in the storage slots.

When riding the subway or waiting for street page to come up I have enough time to open toolboxes and repair tools, use orb, play music, eat or drink.  I have missed my stop on several occasions, which is ok.

I should suggest to the developers how easy it could be for us if we could buy bags for general items like food - drinks - garden etc.

Hope this helps if anyone has better system love to hear bout it.

  • I have my hoe & watering can in the first bag with all the other spots empty (that's where the random stuff I pick up goes), then the rest of the bags are:
    Edibles - stuff to eat
    Sippables - stuff to drink
Mixables - stuff to make food with
    Plantables - stuff to plant
    Cropables - stacks of foodstuffs
    Workables - tools
    Rockables - chunks of rocks
    Musicables - Musicboxes
    Sellables - things to donate/sell/give
    Collectables - Bubbles, Gases, Gems
Buildables - Wood, dirt, loam, barnacles
Animables - Piggy bait, butterfly lotion
    Chemicables - Alchemistry kit
    Elementables - Elemental Pouch
    Spiceables - Spice Rack

  • (copying and pasting this from another thread because I just discovered this one... thanks sheepy!)

Left to right, my setup looks like this (all bags are bigger bags):
1: Basic Resources: Grain, Meat, Milk, Spices, Cherries, Eggs, Bubbles, Gas, Paper, Planks, Jellysac, Metal, Sparkly, Beryl, Dullite (I always make sure to have at least 1 of each here so that it stays organized and things that I pick up go into the next bag. also the order never changes so that I can tell on sight what's missing.)
2: Overflow: this is for any overflow & things I gain on my journey
3: Variable 1: I use this for whatever I'm doing. If I'm mining, I'll fill it with my mining bag. If I'm heading to the swamps it'll be my firefly or herb bag (seeds & extra herbs so I can tend the community gardens... this used to be a peat/barnacle bag but overflow is good enough for that). If I'm out to gift new players, it'll be my gift bag.
4: Variable 2: Same as above
5: Donations: gems & extra music boxes for the shrines
6: Potions & Powders: various powders, herbs, random kindness, piggy bait, etc
7: Music Boxes: the music boxes that I haven't yet played for the crab
    8: Pantry - Produce
    9: Pantry - Groceries
10: Spice Rack: I keep at least one of each spice because I hate when my allspice winds up in here
    11: Element Box
    12: Alchemy Box
13: Food ready to eat: Food that's been prepared
14: Drinks & Keys (keys used to be in my potion bag, but moved here last test. it seems to work as I never filled up my drinks bag all the way)
15: Toolbox with the various hardware & alchemy tools
16: Toolbox with the various kitchen tools, seasoners, & orb

If I'm doing some hardcore mining, I might leave my overflow & pantry bags at home and stock up with some extra empty bags. But otherwise, that's the setup. When my basic resources fill up, I either use them in some manner or put them in storage and take whatever is in the overflow bag and put it in the basic resources bag. As my overflow bag fills, I put stuff in the bag it belongs. It's a bit fiddly, but it keeps me organized.

  • Other than the automatically specialized bags (spice, alchemy, tools, etc. - and I have all of those), I find myself just letting things fall where they may. I'm just not at my house enough to sort lately.

  • Somewhere I learned that to control where new things land, leave empty spaces on the left. So now my permanent bags are on the right and my empty slots and empty bags (for collecting while adventuring) are on the left.

  • Going from left to right in my inventory:

    Bag 1
    Bag 2
Bag 3 (these three are my miscellaneous bags for when I'm out and about just gathering)
    Gem Bag
    Ore Bag
    Drinks Bag
    Cooked Foods Bag
    Raw Foods Bag 1
    Raw Foods Bag 2
    Spice Rack
    Alchemistry Kit
    Elemental Pouch
Tools Bag (intending to get another toolbox sometime soon)
    Toolbox

In my Cabinet (from memory) there are:

    Duillite
    Beryl
    Sparkly
    Metal Rock
    Milk
    Meat
    Cherries
    Beans
    Earthiness
    Bubbles
    Gases
    Spice rack
    Elemental pouch
    Barnacles

Anyway, that's how it goes for now. I am continually refining the method.

  • Toolbox.
    Bag full of random stuff
Bigger Bag full of random stuff
Bigger Bag full of random stuff
Bigger Bag full of random stuff
Bigger Bag full of random stuff

    I'm not very organised.

  • From left to right, starting on a freshly organized inventory:
empty1 - I'll often keep this spot filled with a junk item like Lips in case I run into Rube unless I need the space.
    empty2
    empty3
    empty4
    empty5
    empty6
    empty7
    Bag o' Emblems
MiscBuffies (items for buffs - flowers, spinach, random kindness, keys, etc)
    Drank (drinks)
    Om Nom (food)
    Elementals
    Alchemistry Kit
    Spice Rack
    Cooking Tools
    Other Tools

At one point there were piles of stuff EVERYWHERE at my house but I've since organized everything into bags and into the cabinet. My home cabinet holds 2 regular bags of the complete music block set, a random bag of trophy pieces and other misc stuff, Bag o' meat, Bag o' milx, Bag o' taters, a few bags of "Kippsi's Delicious and Nutritious Produceā„¢" ready to be transformed into Noms, an extra bag o' Noms ready to be switched out for an empty bag o' Noms, bag o' gems to be donated, bag o' blox to be donated, bag o' dirt... There could be more, there might be less but I'm trying my best to stay organized.

  • I am anal about my bags and can't stand if anything is in the wrong place. So, I give you 'The Tricky Woo System'. From left to right:
    1. Cherries/beans/veggies
    2. Milk/meat/grain/eggs
    3. Food (prepared)
    4. Drinks (including beer and hooch)
    5. Bubbles/vaport/'dirt' (dirt includes loam, earth, guano)
    6. Jelly/barnies/paper/planks/peat
    7. Seeds/beans (includes bean seasoner and flowers)
    8. Animal supplies (includes egg seasoner, firefly bottles, piggie bait)
    9. Groceries/cooking (all cooking tools plus olive oil, birch syrup, oats, honey)
    10. Misc. (see below)
    11. Tool box
    12. Spice rack
    13. Elements pouch
    14. Alchemistry kit
    15. Music/keys (only number 5s as they get biggest payout from crabs)
    16. Powders/hippie stuff (powders, crystals, orb, bear, random kindness and tp scripts that I want to use on that particular day).

I always take 500 beans/cherries/bubbles/vapor with me. Additional harvest goes into the misc bag which I empty into my cabinet when I get home. All drops from trees/harvesting/petting etc go into misc bag for selling/donating. When I mine, I just let it fill up any empty slots I have.

  • As I recall, right to left (most of these are large bags, although there are a few small ones mixed in because I haven't replaced everything yet):
[Pantry, The Walk In Refrigerator, Prix Free] - food & drink related. First two are ingredients, second is prepared stuff and drink stuff.
    [Tools for Fools] - toolbox
[Rummager] - overflow toolbox and things like keys, paper, lotion atm. Considering replacing it with another toolbox.
[A Case Full of Drugs] - spice cabinet
[Even More Drugs] - my alchemistry bag
[Personal Jesus] - emblems, donations, EHSP bag because I was going around doing the donate to five shrines quest last test
[Big Green Machine] - gardening bag. seeds, hoe, etc.
[4th Street Gardening Supply]  - no no powder, purple flowers, fecundity.
[Big Windbag] - bubbles and gas
[Arbor Day Kit] - tree stuff
    - mining bag
    - misc bags for random items.

  • My system shifts around some, plus I now leave my elemental pouch and alchemistry kit at home most of the time (need the space for poison whilst chasing tree chopping badges, ayiiiee!), but here's my basic setup, L to R:
    1. Miscellaneous (herbs, 1 bottle antidote just in case, race tickets, rare music blocks for crab amusement, TP script(s), focusing orb, emo bear)
    2. Sell Donate Powder (always has EHSP and loads of fertilidust lite, stack of no-no, and then music boxes/gems/seasoned eggs or beans for sale to vendors)
    3. another Misc one with newb gifts and a few emblems to fondle as needed
    4. Yet More Food n SB Block (mostly produce, raw meat, awesome stews, the SB-1)
    5. RM 5 (a totally miscellaneous, random collection; has many seasoned beans to replant trees after tree chopping, plain beans, allspices, loam, jellisacs, earth, etc.) This spot is where I would carry alchemical pouch though.
    6. Groceries (oats, rice, some sauces, buns) This spot is where I carry alchemistry kit otherwise.
    7. Green Toolbox (non-kitchen tools, 2 grinders and 2 hoes, one of each of the others)
    8. Poison 3 (a bag of tree poison) I usually have Project Supplies bag here (loam, barnies, fireflies, peat, jellisacs, blocks) when not in tree chopping mode.
    9. Gases and Bubbles (with stacks of pre-gassified vapours and pre-tuned bubbles mainly)
    10. Cherries and Fruit (plain cherry stacks plus premade stacks of each type of fruit)
    11. Drinks (several stacks of beer, ice, hooch, plus savory smoothies and spicy grogs for Hell recovery and/or poisoner guilt help)
    12. Butterfly Products and Honey
    13. Food Overflow (produce and grain)
    14. Eggs n Sauces (several stacks each of birch syrup, olive oil and eggs)
    15. Spice Rack (with at least 30 of each spice at all times, preferably more)
    16. Kitchen and Misc Tools (2 knife and boards, 2 Tyson Grills, 2 Awesome Pots, 1 each of other kitchen tools, bean seasoner, egg seasoner, plus quill and one plain mining pick for when projects want non-fancy pick skills)

And oh my, in my house. I have empties to collect meat and milk with from my large amount of collectors, the bags I have but don't carry everywhere, bags of seeds for garden, bag of flowers and keys. A couple empties I use for very very stinky cheese making (and piles of butter on floor near those). Those are the bags on the floor (not even into the cabinet yet). Also have very neat but enormous stacks of meat and milk and TP scripts on the floor. In the cabinet I have four bigger bags of emblems for fondling, a bag of trophy pieces for the last street one I'm after (hmm, could really free this one up as I only have four pieces in it now), 2 bags containing all the music blocks for friends to fondle for the trophies, three more bags of project items, bags for sparkly and rocks and empties for those trips to the mines, and three or four more bags of TP scripts. Eep. Oh yeah and I have a couple of floor liquor piles for guests or whatever :D

    I don't hoard MUCH... lol

  • I think I may rearrange this next test to take better advantage of the "new stuff goes to the left" thing, though I like how my bags are arranged now. :/

All my bags are bigger except for two, which I will mark '(small)'
    Currently, from left to right:
    1. 'Tools', toolbox; kitchen & gardening tools
    2. 'Tools', brown bag (small); miscellaneous tools like seasoners; also emo bear, extra random kindnesses, and stack of paper. Piggy bait fills the last slot to keep random stuff out.
    3. 'Produce', green bag; mostly green and white veggies
    4. 'Produce', green bag; mostly red and yellow veggies, as well as any overflow from first produce bag.
    5. 'Gathered', blue bag; anything off trees, as well as grain
    6. 'Harvested', pink bag; milk and meat
    7. 'Ingredients', brown bag; grocery vendor items + slots for butter, cheese, buns, sauces
    8. 'Miscellaneous', grey bag; emblems, keys, TP scripts, misc donation items like music blocks
    9. 'Miscellaneous', grey bag; powders, seeds, tree antidote, planks
    10. 'Mined', blue bag; earthshakers, stack of food, pick, grinder, beaker, tinkertool, random kindness + empty slots for rocks. Never have to change my open bag when mining.
    11. (unnamed), blue bag; currently for mining overflow, but may turn it into an 'inbox'
    12. 'Consumables', green bag (small); food and drinks
    13. empty slot; lets me rearrange bags if necessary without dropping anything.
    14. Spice rack
    15. Alchemistry kit
    16. Elemental pouch

14, 15, and 16 I never open, apart from checking my pouch to see how many elements I have. My house is litter free and pretty much the only things I have in my storage are all my music blocks, extra planks, a spare tinkertool, extra TP scripts, and guano.

  • It's funny how a lot of us come to the same organizational conclusions here. I thought I was so clever, buying a bag just for vapors and bubbles -- but it turns out a lot of other players thought of that combination too! I guess it's just sort of common sense. "This bag is all hot air!"

I call my vapors/bubbles bag "Hiccups". I started putting firefly jars in there too.

    My other bags are...

    "Harvest"
    "Fruit"
    "Veg"
"Kitchen" (should get replaced by a toolbox for kitchen implements)
"Pantry" (is always full, with overflow going into...)
"Restaurant" (should get separated out into "Eat" and "Drink")
"Dig" (will get split out soon into "Dig" and "Plant" I think)
"Emblems" (also contains keys and scripts, which is messy)

Then there's a toolbox, a spice rack, the elemental set, an empty slot for incoming, my emo bear, my focusing orb. I like the idea of keeping an "inbox" bag all the way at left for sorting out later!

It hadn't occurred to me that I could keep Bigger Bags in the cabinet at home. Nice! Now I know where my "Seeds" bag will go.

  • My system is generally setting out on a particular goal: Resource gathering, mining, grocery shopping etc. Then I drop all unneeded bags: On a resource gathering/ mining (I generally merge those) trip, I cook a fill up my bigger bag of food, go crazy on Humbabas and Earthshakers, then drop my groceries and veggie bags, as well as seed bag, music block bag, emblem bag etc. Then I head out, keeping the 'Misc/ Everything/ Anything (Yes,I've got 3 bags for Miscellaneous stuff. Everything fits there!) in my 2nd slot (1st is an empty spot, I have another just for spinach..... tho sometimes it turns into No-No) and dragging stuff into my other bags when the misc bag gets full.

  • Great sorting ideas! I have a question though, my house is also littered with items on the floor, when you sell your house, do I lose all of the items?
Posted 17 months ago by Zora Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Zora, if you don't take them with you, they will be left for the next person to move in.  The only things that move automatically are your trophies.
