Balzare/Roobrik Quoin Hunting Etiquette

Okay, maybe I'm the only one that it bothers, but I wonder if anybody else follows some guidelines when it comes to quoining in Balzare and Roobrik. Usually, if I see there's another person on a street, I go to a different one, since they're already there. Also, has anybody else noticed some people maybe camping (sitting by their spawn point, constantly waiting for the respawn) the high-yield quoins?? I'm not trying to complain, I'm just curious.

  • They probably are, but imnsho it's kind of a waste to wait for them to spawn when you can just do cards instead.

  • Camping a select few quions that have 15+ minute respawns is a fairly inefficient way to play. Personally I just move on, simply to not waste *my* time.

  • Sturm, it's only inefficient if every moment you're logged in is a moment you're actually playing - some of us step away from the computer.

For example, I log in to garden - if I happen to leave my Glitch in front of the garden while I go do something else IRL, it's not inefficient, because the chance of rotting to death is irrelevant to my play style.

On topic, however, it is polite to go to a different street if you see someone bouncing around in one you've arrived at.

  • On the other hand, it isn't rude to stay.  I tend to move on cuz an occupied street frequently means I'll only get 1x and 2x quoins.

  • In theory, moving on if someone else is already on the street is nice, but there are times of day when the game is very busy, and every street I try has someone there already. Plus, as more players start playing this will be an issue more frequently, especially on weekends. There are so many quoins on most streets, that I usually stay and try not to get in the other person's way, try not to jump for a quoin they are about to grab, etc. If I happen to read in the on-screen info what street the other person leaves for, I try not to follow them to that street (unless it's the only one available) Don't want to seem like a creepy stalker or anything...

  • We should leave a street because somebody is already there?  Huh?  I agree with not closely following to the next street (unless you're coming out of a dead end) but, c'mon, a street is public and nobody owns those quoins just because they "got there first".   I'm going to follow my routine path whether you're there or not.  If that makes you uncomfortable, you're free to flee.

  • IMO, quoin camping is a waste of time but if others wish to do it, more power to them.

I don't think there really is an etiquette for quoin collection in Balzare/Roobrik or, for that matter, the ALs. While I usually leave or TP to another location whenever I find someone there, if they're AFKing, I'll go snag the quoins while they're doing so. If I come to a street at the same time (or a few seconds) before someone else, I'm bouncing around for quoins.

I believe it's pretty much every Glitch for themselves when it comes to quoins. Whether you leave a street or stay, that's your own thing, I don't quite see it as "etiquette".

  • I don't know about Roobrik, but I know one time in Ancestrals someone followed me through about three streets. They were probably on their way somewhere specific but I was still muttering in my head "You saw me come to this street. Just go to a different street!"

  • Biohazard - I've had traps pop up behind me on a street. FWIW

  • While I think moving on to another street because someone else is there first may be a tad too passive, I feel that making sure not to follow someone to another street should be an observed courtesy.  I happen to live close to the game servers and as a result experience less lag than most.  Because of this, someone can move to another street 10 seconds before I do and I can be halfway across the next street before they have become unstuck in time.  I feel like this gives me an unfair advantage if we treated quoin sessions like races and it was "every Glitch for themselves".

However, I do enjoy snagging high value quoins from campers who happen to be AFK when "their" re-spawn pops.

  • I treat quoin collecting as one of a small number of competitive activities in the game. If someone beats me to a quoin I really want, I still merely congratulate them on their advancement :) Golden rule stuff. I'd hope to get the same treatment in return :) And I'm not shy about activating a spinach to gain an advantage ;)

  • OKAY! So this kinda doesn't matter now, what with quoin shards being added yesterday.

Haha no stoot did not put me up to this, it has just been on my mind for a while. And it's not directed at anybody really. I just wondered if anybody else felt this way and I see, as expected, it goes both ways. I don't want more rules or regulations I just wanted to see what other peoples stance was to see if I'm just plain damn weird or something.

And I did see one person right next to a big quoin spawn, so I thought they were camping it. So I proceeded to splank them multiple times. After leaving the street, I noticed they had replied to my physical abuse with "f u" so I thought maybe they were just plain ol' AFK. They had already blocked me though, so I can't really apologize now.
