Question about meat collectors

The item description says that the collector works "only in your back yard" -- does that mean that you can't use it if you're keeping your pigs in a room in your house rather than in your back yard?  I'm going to have to move a lot of things around if I have to keep my pigs outside, and I'd rather keep them where they are (and my various mounds of stuff away from their hunger)....  thanks!

  • They mean in your house... not all houses have "backyards" (though I think they all have some sort of little yard, other than apartments). I think they just need to be in the room your pigs are in.

  • that makes sense -- not out someplace in a public pen or street.
    thanks!

Edit: does it have to be right where they can walk past/across it, or just in the same room?  my pigs are stuck on one side of the ladder and it's a little crowded over there....  :)

  • I had a few pigs in my house but they didn't fill up my meat collectors in my house. They did eat from my feeder though.

  • @Paxton Make sure that your collectors aren't all on top of each other. They have to be a bit spaced (or staggered) to work.

  • No, they do not need to be accessible to your pigs.

All of my piggies are in their pen, and my collectors are on the 3rd story of my house.  They fill up just fine.  Ditto milkers.

  • While in the same line of things, what about feeders? Do they have to be in the pen/yard with the pigs or can they be tucked away somewhere else?

  • @Zedric:Good info to know.

  • Feeders DO have to be accessible, because piggies actually walk up to them to eat, like when they eat trees or food on the ground.
