Streetside Animal Feeders

This goes along with the outside security ideas, but I didn't see this specific idea anywhere else so here goes (phelps.mike did have a note about piggy feeders, but I wanted to expand on the feeder idea).

Can we have pig feeders that can be placed on our streets, will allow all the residents of a specific street to deposit food into them, and can only be removed by the player who purchased the feeder?  We are having trouble keeping enough food out for our street's pigs.  No matter how carefully we hide the food, we invariably have to check our street repeatedly and put out more grain every couple of hours.  I bet we're not the only street that's got this situation either.

  • It would be really great to have working feeders locked to residential streets or to individual houses in streets, like the gnomes are and the lanterns were. It would keep the street pigs alive and stop food left out for the pigs being taken.
We've even had visitors to our street leave food because they liked to see the pigs there and leave notes saying that the food was for the pigs but it still gets taken.

  • +1. Our street's piggies are hungry!

  • On second thought: if it were possible to tie a feeder to a house the way gnomes and jack-o-lanterns were tied, that would work. I'm perfectly willing to keep a feeder full for street I live on; I just don't want the feeder to walk away.

  • I would be happy to purchase and maintain a feeder for our street piggies...provided I had the sure knowledge that it wouldn't be stolen.

But, believe that another option would be to actually have trees on our street...in fact...ALL resident streets should have at least two trees on them for feeding - and it should be that it could only be a type of tree that the piggies will eat.  I have noticed that a lot of the residential streets don't have any type of resources - kinda unfair that so many others do...is it because the ones that do were some of the first made and got a little more attention to detail? ...eh...who knows... and doesn't really matter...I love this game and certainly do not expect it to be without flaws.

Also, if the thought is to 'lock' the feeder to the house - bear in mind that quite a few houses are off the ground - a piggy would have a tough time climbing my ladders.  lol.

  • I would certainly be interested in maintaining a feeder for our street.

  • Love the idea--and I'd be happy to be the one to buy the piggy feeder for my street!

  • I think the idea of a piggy feeder that can't be removed is an excellent idea.

  • i agree, they need some street feeders - or put tree's on all streets with houses

I don't understand how the street with my old 10k home had 3 trees and now in this nice new neighborhood whever everyone can afford 50k houses there isn't even 1 tree :(

  • Yes, Balgra, I also do not understand why there are no tree patches on the streets with higher priced homes. We get less patches inside our homes and none on our streets, why is that? Slight deviation on the point but at the real estate value involved a few trees on the streets wouldn't be something totally unexpected and would also help with issue raised.
