I want a Subscription Extension (Take my money!)

The subscription page currently says: "We will shortly be adding the ability to extend your subscription. Check back in a couple of days."

Now I understand that is intentionally vague, but it's a bit TOO vague for me.  That message may have been up there for seven (or some other equally prime number) months already for all I know.  I can't stand the suspense!  I only have a couple months left on my subscription and wanted to extend it so my account doesn't miss a beat (and because I just happened to be thinking about it right now).  I'm trying to give you guys my hard earned money here, can a nerd get a time line on when I'll be able to do that?

  • It's been up there for aaaaaaaaaages. Put in a bug report and they may be ble to arrange something for you individually before the new scheme comes out. I sorta want mine to expire so I can change my subscription type. Although they may have thought of this too by the time mine expires.

  • For reference, "When It's Ready™" is much longer than "Soon™".

  • jiva... you don't need to wait for your subscription to run out in order to change tiers (except for maybe the current month on a monthly sub). I had an annual Tin and upgraded to a Moly not long ago, also cancelled my ex's subscription as he no longer plays. One assumes downgrading works the same.

  • Anything approximating staff interest on this?  I am ready to pay for another year of Moly subscription, but I get it, they just don't want my money.  (nudge nudge ;) )

  • I had a similar problem-- I accidentally cancelled my subscription, and wanted to resubscribe.

But I couldn't. My old subscription didn't run out for 17 more days. And there was NO WAY for me to resubscribe. Submitted a bug report 3x because I just couldn't believe the answer I kept getting.

I have to say, I like being part of a game where actually taking my money is a low priority. I do worry they'll go out of business, though.

  • Nerd of Epic- check the link Wandering Confusion posted. Unfortunately, it's a lot more complicated that it should be, and that's our only solution at the moment. Yep, we are painfully aware, and apologize it's not easier yet. But we do know!

  • Kevbob, with all due respect*, that FAQ entry+ is entirely missing the point that Nerd** and I are making-- we want to give you money right now***, and you won't let us.

To be clear, I think you do get how ridiculous this "missing feature" is. I mostly wrote this for the footnotes.

    * Which is an awful lot of respect, to TS in general, and you in particular

+ Which says "You will need to cancel your current subscription from your accounts page, which will remain active until the end of the billing month. Once it expires, you will be able to resubscribe at the level of your choosing."

** Yes, I speak for Nerd of Epic. I hold durable power of attorney for all issues related to Nerd's Glitch subscription!

*** well, actually I wanted to give you money 2 months ago, but still

  • My lawyer has apparently just spoken his piece.  ;)

To clarify, I don't want to cancel, I don't want to change my level (already at the highest level), just want my subscription to last longer and to give you the money to allow that to happen.

  • Doesn't a monthly subscription auto-renew? Or is Nerd of Epic's situation specifically in regards to an annual sub?
Posted 5 months ago by HeyHeyHolly Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I did a 1-yr Moly sub.  To the best of my knowledge it was a one time charge for the whole year all at once and will not automatically charge me again.  Thus my attempts to push out the time window manually.

  • I'm in Nerd's position - my sub will run out in 60 days and I don't want to lose my nose and hair  (free subscriber options) Will I get the chance to move to a monthly sub when the email comes?

  • Vanity stuff stays till you change it.

When  your sub runs out however you will log in naked if your clothes are subscriber only.

  • Momo McGlitch & Nerd of Epic: I know it is silly and inconvenient that you can just extend your subscription now. That will eventually be fixed.

BUT, don't worry: there is a grace period after you subscription expires and there will be plenty of time (I think two weeks) before any free sub-only clothes are taken away. There are really no bad consequences for letting your subscription lapse for a short period of time.
