Honey from honeysuckel

Had an idea for obtaining honey in game.
Giant honeysuckle flowers [think they look very glitchy] You would need a "bee" coloured/shaped pump to suck out the honey from inside the flower head. Then pump can be "squeezed" out into jars :)

  • Of course honey would come from honeysuckle?  where else?  :)  Good idea, would fit right in with Glitch!

  • Yeah, this would fit in nicely with Glitch.

But the next question: would Honeysuckle be a new type of tree, or a crop or a static resource (like rocks, barnacles, etc)?

  • I was thinking static same as  barnacles etc :)

  • Honeysuckle is good, I like the idea of honey coming from a plant.

  • I agree a Honeysuckle plant would fit very nicely in Glitch :) Or maybe an Agave plant that would produce a natural sweetener too :)

  • Actually, I would like to see the firefly mechanic that is used in the bogs recycled into regular old honeybees that would be found in light areas.  Honeybee hives would be found only up in the trees, not at ground level.  You would take a honey jar and open it, and if the bees were numerous enough, or something, they would fill your jar.    It may be somewhat boring and derivative, but it also uses game physics that already exist and would give people another reason besides quoins to explore the tree-tops of some of our more neglected regions of Northwestern Ur.

  • Reusing the firefly mechanic would be neat for bee catching, but I haaaate the firefly catching mechanic, and I'm heavily in favor of honey sources that are not the obvious choice of bees anyway. But I do like the idea of having motivation to explore more upwards... Maybe some kind of honey cloud?

  • "Honey badgers just take what they want..."

  • I love it!

also, honey badger people, sure you think it's hilarious now, but you probably don't want to be basing core game mechanics on internet memes - 5 years from now, it would likely be *way* less amusing than it would be 'omg seriously? what's next, peanut butter and jelly from a banana?!' think, glitches!!!!

  • katlazam, fair point. thanks for taking the long view :)

  • I would just like to see honey gotten in game from some form that makes "glitch" sense. There are a lot of flowers all over UR but non of them mean anything to the game, there just background. Maybe its time to bring them forward and make them interactive in a useful way :)

  • I would rather have a beehive and smoke canister.
