For all you people who want gas plants in ix, you guys are going to have to band together to make this happen. Im all for gas plants in ix! Come on your spice lovers....you dont like it when people kill spice trees in east and west spice..likewise the gas lovers dont like it when you kill their ix trees.
Both gas and spice plants should be able to live in harmony in ix!
"Both gas and spice plants should be able to live in harmony in ix!"
Yes. The eastern side of Ix, the darker red streets such as Flipside or East Spice, I think should be spice and the western lighter yellow streets such as the GGW should be Gas!
Well once you start killing spice trees and planting gas.. you will see gas being killed to plant spice back. Hence the tree wars.. has been going on for a long time... nothing new here, move along.
If spice wasn't so restricted to where it could grow I don't think this'd be such a problem. TS should open up the streets and make them more randomized... perhaps in Groddle Meadow you can only plant Bean and Bubble, but in Groddle Forest you can only plant Spice and Fruit, and in Groddle Heights you can only plant Gas or Wood, etc...
The devs could fix the tree wars once and for all by simply coding the patches in various parts of Ix to only accept one particular kind of tree. Problem solved. The tree wars must not bother them much or they'd take steps to nip it in the bud and have a permanent set-up of X trees in X spots and Y trees in Y spots.
The devs don't need to "fix" this. If we lose the ability to change it, via a permanent "fix" from the devs, we lose even more creative control over the world we play in. Let's not let it come to that.
Plant what you want in Ix. If someone doesn't like it, they have the power to change it... for now.
I have the Kalavana gas plant run mapped out in my head. I can hit every zone from memory in a circuit so no complaints. quick spice run in IX, longer gas run in kalavana. job done.
The whole notion that there should be any area anywhere in Ur that we can simply saunter through gathering a large quantity of some ingredient really does seem odd in a way. Why do people take it as a given that they will always be able to get all the spice they need with a quick 'spice run'? Maybe a mix of trees should be planted everywhere to make the game more.... should I are say? more of a challange???
In one of the many previous threads about this, someone did up some math and showed the best way to make spice and gas even is to make Ix all spice, since gas can be planted in places where spice cannot. I cannot confirm or deny this math.
I harvest gas too, but I don't feel like if it's not in Ix I need to have a panic attack and fix it -- plenty of gas elsewhere that is not under threat of becoming spice.
@Parrow: I don't think making the game more time consuming for the sake of . . . nothing . . . is the same as creating challenge.
Nothing? If the game is not supposed to be time consuming perhaps there should just be a set of Icons in each cabinet when we buy a house. We are supposed to have to go out and strive for resources. I can't think of any reason why it should be more or less time consuming to gather spice than it is to gather bubbles or fruit. And yet there is always hysteria any time people fear spice gathering might require more than a quick walk down a few streets.
I think Parrow there was a time that spice was hard to find. And it seems there are some groups out there trying to have that happen again. Sad really because the ones that lose out the most are the new players and the cooks. Good thing I have my own spice trees at my house along with one vapor as I would refuse to pay horrible prices for it on the auction house. I am not one to buy much from auction at all as I see myself pretty self-sufficient. I am sure this will end when those being butt heads get tired of it all and move on to do something else that requires being antagonistic.
I agree that gathering any resource should be no more or less time consuming. But making locating and gathering any resource more time consuming does not equate challenge. Time marches inevitably -- challenge indicates something that will improve with practice.
Randomization would be time consuming while adding no challenge and taking away from the "flavor" of the various regions. Plus, players would instantly begin to shape their neighborhoods to have a balance of every resource they are looking for, making randomization moot, and possibly making travel out of a region completely unnecessary except for miners. And if they took away our ability to shape public streets, they would be killing a feature that Stoot pimps whenever he does an interview about the game, and randomization would also become static, making it even simpler to find what you need though making it take more time, again with no benefit, to gather a particular resource.
So yeah, I see nothing good coming from that idea and plenty of bad. But jumping from my statement that time does not equal challenge to assuming I think I should be handed everything is absurd.
