Buyer Beware! Starlit Night Quoin Catch! [Updated: No need to beware any longer!]

So I thought I'd have a visit to the Starlit Night with my new upgrade card. Sweet!

Unfortunately, I hit my quoin limit two quoins into the Starlit Night experience. And because it's a self-contained experience, my inventory wasn't accessible, so I couldn't quaff a Potion of Avarice.

Result: I spent 5000 iMG and was able to play some pretty chimes.

I think these Upgrade card scenarios ought to be excluded from the quoin limits.

[Update: AND NOW THEY ARE! SWEET!]

  • You spent 5,000,000 IMG??
Posted 6 months ago by Kirnan Subscriber! | Permalink
  • My upgrades for those were only like 25 iMG. What's with the 5000k iMG?
Posted 6 months ago by Eye Wonder Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It costs 2000 iMG to activate them (which you earn back from the quoins inside when you haven't reached your limit), so I'm not sure either...

  • It only cost me 500 iMG, so clearly the activation cost scales.  Maybe by level?

  • I would guess it scales with multiplier. (That would make the most sense.)

  • Seems so; I'm pretty sure mine cost 970.

  • So you went to do a quoin thing without checking your limits, and you're blaming the devs?
Posted 6 months ago by WalruZ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'm not blaming! A little warning would be nice. Now I know, and all of y'all do too.
Posted 6 months ago by Pascale Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'm fairly certain it's 20 iMG x quoin multiplier.
Hence the limit on the high side is 2000 iMG.

  • Thanks for mentioning it Pascale. I wouldn't even think to check before playing. Now I will.

  • I got two cards midway through the day and put them away for later as I'd already Quoined out in the forrest, the only Quoins that don't count towards your daily total are the Quarazy ones.

  • I learned this lesson the hard way as well.  However, I was fortunate in that I used the ticket at about 10pm game time, so I was just able to wait for my quoin limit to be reset with the new day.

  • So sorry you didn't know to check ahead of time, but thanks so much for posting this as an alert to the rest of us.

  • I have a quoin limit. I'm picking up quoins. Seems like common sense to me.
But I'm glad you posted the warning for those who need the heads-up.

  • When I played the first keepable card game, I assumed the img reward would be something like the rewards you got after finishing a quest or completing a badge. I was no where near my quoin limit that day, so I was fine for the game, but I could see how others could be mistaken too.

  • I haven't tried this yet, but let me get this straight:

You pay iMG to buy a ticket, then you pay a bunch more iMG to activate the ticket?

Shouldn't buying the ticket in the first place be the price of admission to the place the ticket is for?
Posted 5 months ago by dm Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Everyone pays the same price for the ticket, but it costs more to activate depending on coin multiplier.

I think this is so that the tickets can be sold or given away without it costing a lot more for those with higher multipliers but the cost of admission is scaled appropriately.

  • You pay 25i for the ticket,  I think.

Then pay an amount, based on your level, to access the special place.

For me at the moment,  it's around 1,500... After visiting the spacial place,  I get maybe 5,000 img.

So the way it is means you can buy the option to go there, use it at a convenient time, but always pay the right amount for the reward you will get.

    I think
    :)

  • Sorry, if I appear dense, but: if we buy the tickets and we have bought the quoin multipliers, why should we then have to pay again to activate the ticket??

  • I was caught by this, also- thanks for posting the warning as a way to help others!
I don't necessarily think that the quoins contained therein should be exempt from our daily quoin limit but a more blatant warning when you go to use the card would be helpful, perhaps.

  • I guess you can sell the ticket to someone else for a bunch of currants, and then that person can activate it.

I've noticed that the quoins in the new areas are mostly regular -- each area seems to have just one large img quoin -- and it's difficult to avoid the quoins you don't want.  There seem to be 24 or 25 quoins in each area.  Big-quoin hunters are better off going to the AL or the new island.  (I love the fast-flying physics, but I was hoping it would be used in some sort of game, not just another quoin hunt.)

  • ~Scilly~ - read my post above yours... you pay when you want to use it so you pay a fair price for the amount you will get in return
Posted 5 months ago by shhexy corin Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Pascale - I did exactly the same thing - wish I'd read your post earlier.. At least now we know hey?!

  • We just made it so all quoins collected via "Ticket to … " upgrade cards no longer count toward your daily quoin limit.

So, use these without another thought about how close you may be to your quoin limit!
