When they are fully charged up you release it and it sends out a dustbunny that run around everywhere and says he loves you and he's happy, then he disappears and leaves behind fibers that will be useful soon but donno why yet.
It's super cute. Best item I have seen in glitch so far considering what it does and hands out.
Well dustbunny was in one of my very first and fav quests. I wouldve liked to have one. Or I guess I would have to buy one months from now for 2,000.000.000c. yipeeeee ;/
A lot more people were affected than those who made a lot of noise and got the 'reward' for making a lot of noise. I for instance, didn't even look in my bags at the time as I was inactive. I am certain there are countless other players who didn't notice a problem, who then didn't get one.
@MaryLiLamb I'm saying I wish I was affected because I didn't have anything that rare in my home. Honestly though, you shouldn't give certain players a very rare item because they were randomly affected by a bug, doing so can turn off players who weren't affected. Also, now the Dusty Stick is going for 1.5-2 million on the marketplace, I doubt anyone lost anything worth that much.
Sludge, I agree with you. It really is only a stick with a bit of string wrapped around it and I wish people were not making such a fuss about them. But I do value that TS has made a gesture to acknowledge the loss of some players. I would hazard a guess that they did not mean to create a stir with the item. It's just a stick!
@MaryLiLamb You're right about it being just a stick, but it is a rare stick lol. If they were doing a contest where they randomly gave it away that would be fine, but when you make players wish that they were affected by a bug it just doesn't sound right.
The stick is not going to be given out. They may cook something up eventually that is similar that will hand out the fibers needed for the pillows or stuffing furnitures with. Like Breaking Dawn states the message says it will never be available again.
Yep, they do know who was affected. I didn't realize I was missing things (so didn't report), yet I also got one (thanks TS). I felt pretty bad for my close friends in game who noticed they were missing things, since so many were...was odd that I wasn't affected (though now looking, I might be out a script or two, and some notes, which were the irreplaceable things...oh, well...sad, but it is what it is).
IMO, it's cool to have collectibles like this - even over a pretty bad situation. I never got a yeti, and I think it's cool that some folks did. It should not be a socialist environment where everyone gets everything...so using that logic, everyone that wasn't in beta should get a beta pickle? Should everyone have a SB-1 music block? I don't think so...my only sadness is they make these things sellable/tradeable...I think they shouldn't be, so people won't profit on them for being rare items...but hey, if someone wants to pay a crazy price for it...so be it...I guess.
I doubt the sticks specifically will be offered, since they said they weren't going to be...however, I'm sure there will be alternate ways to get 'fibers' in the game, when they figure out the uses for them...I'm sort of hoping for the braiding skill, so I can make ropes for all those annoying sloths that will now be in game...ugh...
Yah, I think it's cool that only some people got this. I feel TS will be doing stuff like this all the time, so if you missed out on it, don't fret. There's bound to be some other crazy rare stick or brick or glop down the road:)
In the end, people who got a stick wont want others to have one, to make it rarer, and those who didn't get one will want everyone to have one. I can understand wanting to give players who lost items something to make up for them, but so few sticks were given out that their value is now too high, and worth much more than anything they could have lost.
I'm glad that those that went through that trauma got something for it. Even some of the folks that might not have realized they were affected, obviously had friends that did...good to see that TS did the proper thing, and gave those sticks to all those that were affected, whether the players originally realized it or not. IMO, those that get rare items like this, shouldn't be selling them in the first place, so their value should be priceless...kudos to TS for offering up something like this. Especially since some lost very special personal notes, or scripts they earned during the old street projects that aren't around anymore...at least those priceless items have been replaced something that probably will never equate to the value of what they lost, but it is a nice gesture to show you care.
This 'new special item' just reinforces my belief that Glitch is a social experiment. "Let's see how upset people can get over a stick!"
It's kind of mean-spirited, TS. And I don't appreciate it.
Haha Elf, I was about to post something very similar but it rambled for a while and I thought it was a bit petty... But having seen you make the same comparison I will now post...
Everyone who has a stick is now a star bellied sneetch. The difference between the other special items and this is that the other special items were given out to everyone who was around at the time. They're rare now that more people have joined up. Here you're punishing players contemporaneously. Yes, punishing. I know it's supposed to be "compensation" to those affected by the bug, but the fact of the matter is you've given a 2mil currant item to someone who lost a note. Most of the people getting a stick got their items back. Even more NEVER NOTICED THEY LOST ANYTHING. I could have just as easily lost something (and not noticed it) but I didn't. I shouldn't feel punished for not randomly being affected by a bug.
Writing it all again it still sounds childish and stupid but... It just doesn't sit right with me. TS has created an elite class of STICK HOLDERS, who are differentiated and special for nothing they did, just a characteristic (being affected by a bug) that they had no influence over. Bogus.
I think I have to agree with GWS, this doesn't smell right. As Beachy said, some people got the stick who didn't even notice they had lost things. So, what were they being compensated for? Certainly they had not "suffered" the "stress" of missing items if they didn't even know they were missing. It has been said many times in these forums that this is beta, and obviously, in beta bugs are not unusual. Why create the drama?
^ what GirlWhatSqueaks wrote. I knew as soon as they said commemoration gift, they had created yet another special group that only a chosen few would be a part of. Shouldn't getting the items back be enough?
They're only an "Elite" class of sick holders because you labeled them so. Having this item makes them no better than you or I who don't. It's a stick. Which summons dust.
Oh, I think they know they're elite without the rest of us rabble labeling them as such. Some have even posted 'Thank You' threads and/or publicly thanked TS in the forum to make sure everyone knows they got a stick.
Cancelled my subscription which was due to renew 3/24 (wish I could make that little heart next to my name turn black:)
I suggest people who feel slighted by TS's nasty antics do the same. Then they'll know exactly where they can stick that stick.
And no, it's not the stick that I really give a damn about. It's the feeling that TS dev's are purposely instigating derisiveness and divisiveness within the player community.
Well, whatever, nevermind...
Bruja, I'm sorry you feel that way. I'd caution you against the assumption that the divisiveness of this issue is intentional. Stick around please! [edit: no pun intended there, really]
