collective key grabbing

I'd like it so that everyone camping on a spot for a key can get one if they  harvest it at the same moment.  Same system as barnacle scraping.

  • If anything they could just speed up the key spawning times a bit, standing still for 10-20 minutes stressing about other people taking the key you've been waiting for isn't fun at all.

I like your idea more though, there could be a "key rock" or something that you mine/harvest :3

  • i like it. It would help if there was an audio cue when someone starts to grab the key (like a key in a lock or jingling keychain) and the harvest time were 10 seconds or so - that way distracted/afk campers might still be able to get in on the harvest.

  • Bah.  key spawns should be more random in random places.   Anything that promotes camping is bad, imo.

  • Predetermined spawns always create conflict in MMOs and lead to tedious and very uninteresting gameplay.  It's not even remotely fun standing around for 10-20 minutes waiting for an object to appear.  I'm a little surprised Glitch did this, since Stoot talked about wanting to get away from MMO grind in the recent interview.  Keys need to appear in random places or as random drops from harvesting/mining/animals.

Having them in ancestral lands isn't bad, but ancestral lands is farmed too heavily to be a reliable alternative source of keys.

  • At first I didn't like the idea of people camping for keys and then selling them for high prices on auction to "exploit" the greed of people who want to mine in very productive but locked mining rooms.    However, since party rooms have been brought in and they are VERY expensive - much more so than a 1600 current key for AB - and I don't see anyone complaining about the cost of those party rooms, I've rethought the issue.  At least the business of key camping spreads some of the money make in AB and NN to other players instead of just sinking it back into the vendor.

Anyway, if everyone at a spawning location can get a key it should reduce the price on auction and maybe discourage the real exploiters.  Also, it would require people waiting to chat a bit and maybe co ordinate their actions when going to pick up the key.   No different from barnacle scraping really.
