Please, lock down my street

I know a lot of things in the game do not make sense (eggs from plants, grain from chickens), but why can't I lock down my feeders and collectors on my street?  In the game, this has divided people into two schools of thought (streets are publicers, and that's my streeters).  I think it would be an easy fix, but I am not a developer (dev/sigh), so maybe a dev would be kind enough to explain how/why this works the way it does.

My reasoning:  First, animal sticks.  Animal sticks can only be placed in "your home or yard."  Strangely, though, they work on "my street."  I can only assume that this area is mine (you're welcome to it anytime, though).

Secondly, stills, gnomes, and icons (in no order of importance, giants).  These items lock on to my street when placed.  Others can still interact with these items, except for the gnome who isn't a good listener.  If placed in other areas, they can be taken---I understand that.  I know that if I want to drop a feeder off at a friends someone else could take it.  She didn't place it there; that makes sense.

Lastly, if you do feel streets are public places (which I happen to think), this change won't hurt anything you do.  In fact, it would only help people who come to the street, at least mine.  There would be a greater chance of getting more stuff, and it keeps my piggys from getting too fat (they walk a lot, but let's be serious, they don't keep the best diet).

I leave you with three final requests:  please share this as I would like as much input as possible, if you are a dev and you see this could you give me some insight on what work it would take to change this or if it is possible, and please, let's leave the trees out of this---they are a separate issue.

Best,
CG

  • It would be nice if we were able to make our street Public or Private. Maybe only allow key holders the ability to interact with street objects in Private mode. I think it should include the trees.

  • Multiple threads on this subject - general feedback from people in charge is things are going to change before they become finalized enough so that some of this will become irrelevant. I'm not sure what that means, but, there it is.
