Street Projects

Now that I have been able to partake in these projects, I can tell they are wonderful and grand, and they bring the community together in quite a nice way.  However, they have two major flaws as it stands.

1.  Too many people in one street!

1a.  Solution 1 - Instead of having one street for the project manager, have multiple streets.  At this point, just 3 streets should be sufficient to hold players for donating to the project.  This way, they are spread out, and still have access to the same menu, regardless of location.

1b.  Solution 2 - Make a central location (Hint, Bureaucratic Hall) with multiple instances and an NPC that has the same GUI menu for donations to any given street project.  This way, the Halls get some use, and all the instances ensure there are never too many players, especially if each instance is labelled with the count of current players.

2.  Street donations are too low for requirements!

Solution - Make them 10-100 times as high.  Seriously, a whole region should take a month to complete.  At this rate of tonight, Rasana will likely be done tomorrow!  WTH, Tiny Speck?  Add a bit of challenge so a lot of players can experience the fun of this all!

  • It would be awesome if the projects took 10-100 times as long.  A big project, where you go home and get more supplies and come back, and scrounge for more materials, and recruit people to come help out over a period of several days, instead of playing "guess what you wish you'd brought".

The current system was probably perfect when there were 10-100x fewer people!  :)

  • Multiple instances are needed BADLY, the lag is impossible.

  • Maybe the street project requirements/locations could automatically scale to the current number of active players?

  • Scaling would be interesting, and could likely be easily done if it is locked at the time of the project's opening.

  • I waited so long for street projects.

Soooooo disappointed. Love all these suggestions. I understand the exciting rush to get some new streets, but... let's give people a chance to play the game?

  • I would like to suggest a project limit...meaning You can only contribute to a project every x number of days.
For example, if you contributed to street project on Khoul Beens today, then you cannot contribute to another street project until 3 days from now, or something like that.  It could be real life days or game days.
    OR
only being able to contribute to so many projects per area...If you already helped on 3 streets in Rasana, then you cannot help "imagine" this area anymore.
    OR
even more complicated, maybe there is some kind of sign up or quest option where the rock tells you there is a project, asks if you would like to be teleported there to help, but only so many people can apply or get invited at one time.
Obviously once you begin to contribute to a project, you should be allowed to help out all phases (or else how would you get trophies?) but there are just too many people rushing to street projects and it seems like all the same people are getting to do all of them.  I am a member of new streets and have been for a while, but since the group site doesn't work, the only option we have is the chat area and thats pretty useless since people are too busy doing the project to stop and tell you where and what is needed.  By the time you get there, everything is done.
I think every glitch should get a chance to help on some projects sometimes, so there has to be some kind of limitation.
Tonight there were 3 projects open at once, which you would think would help give more opportunities, but there are so many glitches playing that even 3 streets is not enough!
    Just some thoughts :)

  • I made all these beautiful blocks. And none of the phases seem to want them. Bricks, Blocks A thru AAA. Not wanted!

    WHY??

I hope maybe they'll be useful for home customization.

  • Solution 3 : Multiply everything by 11.  Put up 11 concurrent Streets around the world w/ the same amount of work as it was for one street.  This is a good way to decentralize, makes the project last at least 11 times longer.

  • I think mutiplying the amount of stuff needed by around 100 would be good, if that slows down the process too much then unlock more than one street at a time when it is complete.

I feel like people should see what is needed then run off to collect materials to make it, rather than having everything on site to complete the project complete in a few minutes.  For crafted items it was unlikely you could craft two batches before the order was filled, for non crafted items it was a matter of fast clicking to get to put anything in at all.  All of this made it feel like we were competing to get to participate rather than cooperating to accomplish something.

Anyway, my numbers might be wrong (maybe 100 times is too much) but I think you should aim for projects taking place over a couple of weeks instead of over 12 hours (mostly overnight hours, for that matter).

  • Sthenno - I think you hit the nail on the head. With the way the game works right now, street projects are cutthroat competitions where the same hoarders keep winning the day and others can't even participate. The community aspect is broken - which is ironic because these are supposed to be the most communal, I would say.

  • Well, I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way about the street projects, and I hope a lot more people voice their opinion on this, as I hear a lot of the same sentiments in global.

  • Excellent ideas!

  • I see everyone is making posts of these, and I am wondering if all of us should get together and start collaborating on one thread to get the devs to hear all this.
