I'm sorry I broke your.... rock, tree, herb patch etc

Now I have to confess I have broken a couple and usually I like to repair what I break, but I've noticed some people have left notes saying don't fix, which is fine.  It would be useful if those of you who are on the routes, in particular, could leave us a note saying whether you want us to fix stuff or not, it would certainly stop those guilty feelings and clear up what you would like visitors to do on your street.

  • Good idea.  Notes are usually good.  But if you are on my street, you may assume the resource is meant to be there.  I'll kill it with Wine of the Dead and remove it myself if I don't want it. ;)

  • I've been the final gather on a few resources, but I know some people prefer to remove and re-imagine, rather than restore (for whatever reason- it may be resource-intensive, but it's arguably more satisfying to build it back by hand). I'm going to start leaving restoration supplies in front of whatever I break, but not actually start the project- that way, the owner can decide what they want to do on their street.

  • No need to feel guilty, but I understand. I've felt the opposite: guilty when I go to my street and see that people have restored a resource; I thought that was my sole responsibility. People are happy to help though it seems, just one of the great things about this game--abundant generosity.

  • When I break something on another's street, I kick in what I can -- usually rather a bit -- and presume that someone else will kick in what they can.
It's worked on my street -- I haven't had to touch a thing, and within a few hours, the kind souls of Glitch have resurrected the resource, and continue to harvest it.
It's the whole "takes a village" thing, and I, for one, think it's an awesome emergent behavior on the part of Glitchens.
Do what you can where you can.

  • Yeah ... I think it's worth remembering that while you were the last person to use a resource, you're not solely responsible for depleting it.  Everyone who used it prior to you also did their part in depleting it.  Contributing something, but not everything, and moving on seems in keeping with this idea of shared responsibility.

  • I did that too, Wrench, until we started getting iMG for contributing.  now I do what I can towards restoring unless there is a note saying not to.
