most systems let you create a site specific browser just for single services. No reason you couldn't create a separate instance just for Glitch (in fact, good idea, I might do that myself!)
I think it will be better to have native client written in C. To be multi-platform can be used SDL, OPENAL libraries for example. There are several games written to work on Windows, Linux, OSX already.
@Lilla My,
Maybe that could be a better option, and the game could work with even more efficiency that way, but all depends what Tiny Speck, the company, wants.
I thought about a browser because seemed a simple and fast solution for the big amount of RAM required for the game to be working and the constant lag which prejudices much the game quality.
Kul Koba, since you mentioned it yesterday I have been running Glitch in a specific instance of Safari. It's been WAY more stable and with less lag than when I was running it alongside my normal browsing. (I was previously using Chrome)
You can use a program called Fluid to create a single site browser for Mac OS. It's dead easy: just tell it what you want to call the app, give it a URL and an icon (I grabbed the Glitch logo for mine) fluidapp.com/
More generally, I think the dev team probably think pretty hard about how they're building Glitch and what platforms they're doing it on. I suspect building a native client would be a huge distraction and massive expense with (right now at least) relatively few benefits. I'd rather have the game get more awesome in all sorts of other ways.
Thanks wurzel!
I was also using Chrome, and more recently Demeter (which crashes a lot but has less lag).
I knew these fluid apps but haven't tried it yet with Glitch. I will try it now.
Although, it won't be one solution 100% optimized, it's good for the moment.
Anyway I hope to see some better solutions to come out in a next future from the developers here.
Ok. This is difficult because notifications DON'T EXIST in forums and groups! :S
So, I just checked one of mine previous topics in the general forum and there are some news about this.
Seems like that one browser is going to be developed: http://www.glitch.com/forum/general/8191/
