Extremely consequential poll of vital importance

When crop/herb gardening, do you go down the line with one action at a time, or do you do everything for each plot before moving on to the next plot? That is, do you go harvest/clear/harvest/clear/harvest/clear, or harvest/harvest/harvest/clear/clear/clear? Same with watering and planting (though obviously the order changes depending on if the soil is damp or not).

I do harvest/clear/harvest/clear/harvest/clear, but I also do water/water/water/water/plant/plant/plant/plant. The result of this extremely scientific and significant study will help me optimize my gardening technique according to the generally preferred method, which I think we can all agree is something that would provide diverse benefits to the entire Glitchian community.

  • I do everything possible for the one square before moving on to the next plot in the garden. That's, what, 45 fewer keystrokes per 15 plot garden? /lazy

  • I'm totally random. Sometimes I harvest everything, then clear everything, then water, then harvest.

Sometimes I harvest ONE row, then clear/water/replant that row before going to the next one.

Just depends on my mood :D

  • Harvest/clear/plant/water, move to next plot. (Or, if the plot is dried out, Harvest/clear/water/plant.)

You know what bugs the heck out of me? You click on a garden, it selects the front left plot. (No, that's not my problem....kind of.) Now, being a westerner, I click the arrow key to move to the right. (Still not the issue.) I get to the end of the line, press right... and it jumps to the top row. Now, that makes sense in a western, start at the top/move to left to right/move down the page way... But since it starts us at the BUTTON LEFT, it makes no sense. Worse, if I start at the bottom left, and press up the column, when it get to the top it jumps to the bottom far right!

    Damn you, minor annoyance.

  • Harvest, clear; harvest, clear; harvest, clear; ......
    Ponder new crops
    Water/plant or plant/water  depending.

But I'm with LBO about the lunatic jumping around.

  • Oh and I go from closest to me to furthest away.  I'm a bit OCD, I do it the same every time.

  • I try to harvest everything first, then clear, then plant and water, or water and plant, depending on whether the plots are dry or moist. I water from front to back row, and plant from back to front row most times, although sometimes I will change the pattern just for the heck of it. ;)
I like to be methodical/systematic, and keep the clicks moving steadily (am a mouseketeer, and not keen on keyboard), but there is a disruptive fly in the ointment of harvesting, harvesting anything really: super harvests! They have become the single most frustrating thing (to me!) in the game, as everything under the rainbow/everything touching the rainbow becomes un-clickable, thus ruining my rhythm ~this isn't an issue when using keyboard, it only happens when using mouse. 'aeeeeeee'
Has anyone else encountered this curious thing?

  • lol harvest all, clear all, water all, plant all. Starting from front left to back right =)
It really really bugs me if I dont do it this way too....

  • I harvest/clear/water/plant each plot before moving on to the next.

UNLESS I'm changing what crop I'm growing. I keep different herbs in separate labelled bags. Herbs stack more efficiently than seeds so I never shuck unless I'm about to plant the resulting seeds. So if I have a load of Hairball ready to pick, and next I want to plant Rubeweed, then I will pick up my Hairball bag, harvest/clear each plot of Hairball, then put down the Hairball bag, pick up the Rubeweed bag, shuck a few Rubeweed to get the seeds, and then start the water/plant for each plot.

  • I harvest, then clear, then water, then plant - I find it easier that way...

  • Dunno if it's been mentioned yet, but plot-at-a-time is superior these days due to the way gardens wear down. Plot-at-a-time was always kind of superior if you were using guano tho.

I used to be a chore-at-a-time type but seriously guys it actually matters now :(

  • I tried plot-at-a-time but it just feels wrong to me. I rather waste 45 keystrokes to do chore-at-a-time :-)
