XP per level confusion

I noticed that the amount of XP to get from level 39 to 40 was almost 150k. Now that I've reached level 40, I checked again and saw that I need less than 100k XP to get to level 41. Why did it decrease, and why by so much?

  • I think the big jumps are at every 10 levels. You get a bigger reward for reaching the big levels, too.

  • They probably use what Everquest coined as "Hell Levels". Every 10 levels equals a much more challenging level... it's supposed to allow your friends to catch up to you so you can all be near the same level, but all it really did was enrage the userbase.

Everquest eventually got rid of the Hell Levels.

  • All i know is that the 0 lvl's are made that way so it takes more effort to hit them... same as all the 0 lvl;s, hope that helps a bit

  • Big jumps are every 5, I believe?
It's because from Level 20 on, only every 5 levels give currant rewards.
