No Glitch Daylight Savings Time?

Okay, so admittedly this is a US-centric question!

But there I was, madly doing my usual end-of-the-glitch-day stuff (shaking milk, compressing cheese, aging cheese, etc.). I ran my energy down low as low can be in anticipation of the new day.

Midnight comes.
No new day.

I check the Calendar and find it's about an hour until the new game day.

:(

All of my usual Glitch timing is now off by an hour.
Does this mean that no clock adjustments are ever going to take place in Ur?
If not, fine, but it would be good to know that.
If they are going to be implemented, whose version of clock shifting will be using?

Thanks!

  • It didn't change last DST, so it's actually back to where it was in essence :)

  • Glitch is not limited to the US.

At this point only the US has switched.  Perhaps they will wait until the UK switches, or Canada, or ....

    [actually, they don't ever switch]

  • In Canada we switched too.

  • Oh man...this is gonna throw me off. >_< I thought it was perfect how it changed at noon and midnight.

  • Yay, now it will be back at noon/midnight for me. :) Though I got used to 11, and in some ways preferred 11, since it meant I could do stuff on a new day before going to bed rather than wait past midnight.

  • @Windborn I did say I knew it was a US (and Canada)-only issue at the moment.

It's fine if it never changes... I just want to know. I don't remember it happening in the autumn.

  • One of the few good things about living here in Arizona: no change for us!

  • I could not agree with you more Shepherd Ralph. It is small consolation for our 9 month summers.

  • Most Asian countries don't change neither, as far as I know.

  • it took me ages to realise  that some people knew when Glitch days started and finished.

I still have no real idea except that it's usually morning when I get home from work

  • Umm, there are a very large number of different time zones around the world. Some are even on a half-hour.

Maybe only use the glitchclock in the top corner to judge when the new day starts?

  • It's useful to know from one's real-world clock how long it is before the new Glitch day. In my case, if I'm only going to be able to play for 30-60 minutes every now and then, I much prefer to start playing somewhere around 10pm Glitch time so I can do a bunch of stuff, get a complete energy and mood refresh, and do some more before logging off. If I start playing at, say, 10am Glitch time then I won't get that refresh during my short opportunity to play.

  • If you live in the US except for AZ and HI, the new day is an hour behind.

  • I reported this as a bug: http://www.glitch.com/forum/bugs/17881/ but haven't heard from staff one way or the other.

Certainly it will be far simpler for the devs to ignore daylight savings time. Just put their database servers, their webservers and their flash programming all on UTC or GMT and not worry about it. Because all of those levels can end up with a daylight savings time patch issue. Heck, the automatic transit trackers for Tri-met busses in Portland, Oregon are still not patched after 5 years of the new setup.

It'd just be nice to know if they plan on always ignoring daylight savings, using the UK/Europe (Mar 25), using the Austrialian (Apr 1), or using the Candian/USA (Mar 11).

They've also got the extra fun of it being a leap year, so I'm not surprised there is calendar chaos.
