Feature request: let us earn img via Fitbit (smart pedometer)!!!

Dear devs, I want to buy a fitbit, but I'm worried that exercising will take time away from valuable LEVELING UP IN GLITCH. My proposed solution: you guys sell an upgrade card that lets us hook up our Glitch accounts to the fitbit API!

Pros:
- Happier/less crabby players -> more civil forum posts?
- "Brand synergy"
- If I fall prey to lifestyle related diseases I will not be able to renew my membership!

Cons:
- Risk of having Glitch players sit on couch shaking their Fitbits repetitively instead of sitting on couch clicking their mouses repetitively.

As you can see, the pros outweigh the cons 3 to 1. What say you, o devs?

forever love,
Eggy

  • +1 - BRILLIANT.

The con is not much of an issue - have you ever tried faking out a fitbit?  Those beasties are CLEVER...

  • This really is brilliant.  It would seriously get my butt up and away from the computer, but in a good way.  I'd still be playing glitch when I was doing all the other crap I have to do!

  • This would be insanely brilliant. I don't even own a fitbit, but i'd buy one to do this. I'm just not sure what glitch would get out of it aside from very happy gamers (which should be enough! :D)

  • This would really be based on bad game design principles. A game should be designed such that it encourages its users to actively play it. If Glitch were modified to grant iMG through an external activity, it would take a lot of people and their iMG grinding out of the game. (furthermore, it would add an unfair in-game benefit to people who purchase this item)

  • Really interesting idea!  I'd never heard of this fitbit before, but checking it out, it looks like it would be a really clever use of APIs and technology and such :)

  • Yet another product that preys on insecurity. When we need to count normal movement as exercise, something is seriously amiss...

-1 keep that shit far away from the game
