Release Advertising.

There's something I've been kicking around in the back of my head. When there is an official release, this game will be swarmed with a lot of old, seasoned players, with quite few new players. I was thinking about an advertising campaign that could be done, then it hit me, 7-Eleven. A couple years back, a game company, Zynga, of Mafia Wars and Farmville fame, who were still somewhat fledgling at the time, did an advertising campaign with 7-Eleven, and, well, let's just say, take a look at them now. It wasn't even that large of a set, just some codes on cups for some things. It brought Zynga a lot of new players, and 7-Eleven, a lot of profit. I was wondering if TS could do the same thing. Then, perhaps, we can have that balance of new and old players that we need.

  • I disagree. Any tactics used by Zynga should not be used. I have heard horror stories about Zynga both from employees and customers. Their games center around forcing the player to pay money in order to continue playing and harass their friends into playing the game as well. And the amount of money needed to enjoy the game is far more than the game is worth compared to games like Skyrim (At least 200 hours of gameplay for $60) and Guild Wars 2 (Probably 500 hours of gameplay for $60). Zynga does nothing but minimal content for maximum profit.

  • Zynga took off because it could spam peoples facebook feeds, and did.  Facebook users revolted and now Zynga is hurting.  Simple as that.

  • Putting aside Zynga and 7-Eleven for a second, I think I'm confused about what problem your advertising idea is trying to remedy...  Are you worried that there will not be enough new players when Glitch (re)launches?
