Vote-selling

I think I might like the ability to buy, sell, and trade with the votes that people get with their subscriptions.

Discuss.

  • I dont agree with this. because the votes are a special thing for subscribers who actually care about the game enought to support money to it. if  the votes were sellable to people for currants or tradeable then people who are subscribers who dont want to use votes will be selling these to have a bigger advantage ingame as far as money and items are concerned.  and on the other hand some people will subscribe JUST to sell the votes to have greater ingame presence with currants items etc. and the whole point of the subscriptions in tinyspecks point of view was so that no one has any game changing benifit over anyone else. as far as I am aware

  • lol Tingly.

I'm finding currants pretty easy to come by, the higher level I get, so I wouldn't be inclined to sell my votes for currants.  Don't know that I'd be willing to trade either...  I want my votes to go for what *I* want, so not sure what my incentive would be to sell.

  • I will absolutely allow the selling of my votes for Currants. Prices to be determined soon(tm).

  • My initial response was "Horrors, no!", but then it occurs to me that if the vote is on an issue that has little meaning to me, why not sell it to someone for whom it does have some urgency?
That is of course assuming that votes are a use it or lose it benefit. If they are not perishable....well wait, are they perishable?

  • pretty difficult to sell a vote if it is cast in a secret ballot.

  • The vote would transfer to the other account.

  • @Nanookie... votes do not perish.  They roll over.   "...unspent votes "roll over" or continue to accrue until used in a referendum."

  • Or maybe they'll end up being sold informally, where one player will trust the vote-holder to vote what the first player wants the second to vote for.

  • Someone that pays should NEVER have more say than someone that doesn't.

"because the votes are a special thing for subscribers who actually care about the game enought to support money to it."

By voting, we are saying we care enough to take the time outside of the game to make it better. That alone should be enough, especially if we're taking the time to earn in-game currency and BUY VOTES.

  • Lin the problem with giving votes and says to people whom dont actually pay is the fact that you can make multiple free accounts. and spam votes towards a certain thing thus fixing the actual vote which would make it to disruptive due to many internet tolls and *Lulz* groups

  • Voting doesn't allow people to implement into the game whatever they want, it just changes the priority of a feature. I highly doubt any trolls would spend time creating accounts to get "free votes" to change the priority of a feature. They're not going to irritate anyone because the development team is developing housing upgrades before new clothes or vice versa.

In addition to that, I'm not saying votes should be free, I just don't think anyone should be forbidden to voice their opinion completely because they haven't spent money. If a friend of mine has a subscription, but also cares about what I think, they might give or trade me their votes.

  • I don't think the game should necessarily build in a mechanic that lets you transfer votes from one player to another, but of course they're going to end up being sold — whether it's for currants, items, work or some other arrangement between the two parties. Such activities are going to be impossible to monitor, and probably not particularly harmful.

More than that, though, I think it's an inevitable consequence of the fact that votes are bought in the first place, through subscription. If we're concerned that buying votes would be bad (and I'm not), then perhaps it's time to start a civil rights campaign: One Glitch, One Vote.

  • One Glitch, One Vote.
No one has made a group yet?

I don't think I will enjoy the voting mechanic if its subscription based, even if I become a subscriber.
