How much is too much?

Not trying to instigate a political war here, just a question about personal belief. So, how much is too much? You have the biggest house, mucho currants saved up, more outfits than you can change into in a day, but why? Does it really enhance the game to have all those things? Tell me what you think.

Cheers,

  • For me, yes it does, it means I have more plots to grow vegetables and more space for my animals.  More items means I can try out different aspects of the game.  Being a minimalist is fine if you want, but as far as the game goes there is no trade off.  Building up gives you goals to shoot for and act as accomplishments in the game.  And it is possible to have it all within the game after a certain time frame.

Now if your question is are we willing to sacrifice RL by spending too much time in the game, that is a different question all together.

  • I don't have the biggest house or mucho currents, but I'm enhappied. I like my low key Glitchen life. There's plenty of time for a big house (if any come out that I like) etc etc. I just like to puddle about really.

  • I like having goals and completing them -- doing so gives me a feeling of accomplishment and makes me feel more vested in the game.  I don't have many fancy outfits -- what I'm wearing is all I've purchased, despite having the credits to get more if I wanted to.  I have a big house because I need the storage space, and would buy bigger if a time came where I thought I needed to upgrade (and more were available).  None of these things feel like "too much", imho.

"Too much" for me personally, is probably when I log in, and don't perceive that I don't have anything new left to accomplish anymore.  If I'm just logging in and using Glitch as a glorified chat room, then I know the end of my playing is near.  Once I have everything (or everything I actually want to get), there's no point to playing anymore.

I fear that day is coming ever closer... despite my subscription.

  • The house size and currants don't make much difference to me now that I am comfortable.  I am very glad to have a house and also glad to have some currants saved up in case I need things and maybe for a party eventually.

I flat out love the Wardrobe!!  I play in there almost as much as I do in the game.  Yes, I have purchased more than I can wear in a day but, hey, it rings my Bell and gives me some smiles.  Not a thing wrong with that!  Maybe a little nutty but to each their own.

I have never been a minimalist though I feel I should be.  I just enjoy everything in this game so much.  I want to do everything, obtain one of everything (don't need to keep any of it), wear everything, etc.  It's Fun for me!  Do what makes you happy and forget the rest.

  • Just to clarify my post, you definitely don't need everything or have the biggest to have fun in the game, but by the same token I don't think you can have too much either.  This game doesn't make you have sacrifices, you don't have to choose between different skills or abilities, the only real choice that I see is how many plot you have in your house, or whether you live in the bog houses or the other styles.

  • I don't really see the point of having the biggest house unless you have parties or really like to grow crops.  I went for a house that could have an egg tree and regular trees, small but maximum choices of resources. As for currents, I like to have enough to cover my giant donation expenses.

Achievements however, never enough, my precious.

  • The answer is either:
    a) No.
    b) Depends on your point of view.
    Or.
    c) Yes.

    Let's move the glitch on.

  • i can never have enough currants or supplies because it is very hard to give out presents and drop unexpected gits if i don't have the resources.

i do not like to go to parties without bringing things to share.

and in case of rook attack it's great to have stuff to burn.

i don't need a huge house. i have a lovely GM cottage and a handful of plots and an insane amount of cash and resources pass through my little inventory and out into the game in a lot of ways.

i think that outlines my philosophy.

  • I really wanted a 50k house after beta.
So I went to the mines. By the time I got to 30k, I was honestly miserable.
So I bought a 30k house, and I haven't been this happy in game in weeks!
I'm never going to grind again, unless it's with a Grand Ol' Grinder.
The thing is, I sort of enjoy mining and exploring the mines for a few rocks.  I just like to get out in the sunshine as soon as I start to get bored now instead of forcing myself to work for the currants.
Now, I'm perfectly happy with a few currants here and there.
