Awesome Glitchen

There are some truly awesome people playing this game and I wish it was OK to name people in forums because I would nominate xxxxxxxx and xxxxxxx for Glitchen of the month awards if I was allowed to name them!

If we had Glitchen of the month awards.

Which we don't.

  • I don't think that should be happening, even if I got nominated .Because everyone in the Glitch community plays an important part, we are all equally important here. We're all Awesome Glitchen.

  • I honestly think that non-tiered awards for recognition would be nice making it open and available for more than a handful of people. To not cause an "I'm not special" war, it would be neat if we could imbue notes with colored ribbons that people could put on their Trophy Cases. :D

EDIT: I apologize if I was being offensive. I was just bringing up something I (think I) suggested a while ago.

  • We are all equally important but not equally nice and I just wish there was a way to reward people who go out of their way to be nice because they really make this game for me.

I can "punish" nasty people by blocking them so why can't I "reward" nice people in some way?
Posted 9 months ago by Reni's Mum Subscriber! | Permalink
  • You didn't block me for being 'nasty', you blocked me because you disagreed with me. So how would it be possible to make such a 'reward' system fair?

Also, you can reward people you want by giving them essences of purple and other stuff.

  • I still solidly disagree with this idea. People who treat others nicely have more fun in this game than others. I think that is a good enough reward.

  • I block people I don't want anything to do with.  It isn't public and it isn't meant to be public.  It is my personal opinion and nothing more than that.

I would like to be able to do something a little more public, however, to acknowledge people who, in my personal opinion, are worth acknowledging.

I'd simply like a way to say "well done" and "much appreciated" in a more tangible way than with just words to people who go out of their way to treat me well.

  • I'd nominate you, Enola, for starting such a lovely thread. :)

  • I do acknowledge how you like to acknowledge people who do nice things. But I don't think that there should be any TS awards or Glitch of the Month. Because we're all awesome Glitchen.

  • Awww thanks Tibbi but I am not an Awesome Glitchen, not even close, I'd never benefit from this idea myself lol.

@Rook - I like your idea - a ribbon would be much nicer than a potion or other game item that people can easily make for themselves.

Edit: I wasn't thinking it should be something that TS or the developers give out, I was wanting a way to say thank you when "thank you" and ordinary game items just don't feel good enough for the job.

  • I'm with AC2k on this one. I think doing good deeds is enough for whomever is doing it and for the recipient. They don't need the recognition, because if there was a "Glitchen of the Month" there'd be a race for popularity. This isn't High School, this is a game in which many adults and some teenagers play, and we don't need to start drama over whos better than who and who is nicer than who. Play the game, get to know people, reward the people you think are great by decorating their houses or yards. Simple enough.

  • Well said, Ayasta.
Posted 9 months ago by AwesomeCardinal2000 Subscriber! | Permalink
  • +1 Ayasta.  Quite frankly, the same people that some say are wonderful, just as many may consider to be downright jerks.  Glitchen of the month would require a vote. Heck, the decision over ANIMALS was heated--could you imagine if it came down to a matter of selecting people?

Your sentiment was a sweet one, Enola. Totally get what you're saying!  I just prefer to thank awesome Glitchen in more private ways :)

  • Decorate their houses or yards?    I have tried that and very few of my gifts made it into the hands of those for whom they were intended.
Posted 9 months ago by Reni's Mum Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Well, the people giving the Rewards are biased, because you could say, from what Enola said.

"I would nominate Jessenya and Demaria for Glitchen of the month awards"

It's probably biased. Say, Friend is your friend, Enola is the judge, and she mainly only talks to Friend, and Friend is only helping their friend, or Enola doesn't hang out with anyone, but Jessenya. You'd only have 1 choice to give the reward to- Friend. You can't really give out rewards, because they'll all be biased. Say, you never heard of Stranger, and she/he's one of the nicest people in Ur, and you gave Friend the "Reward" because you don't know Stranger . That's the problem.

PS: Didn't name names or anything, so I didn't really disobey ToS.

  • I get the point everyone is making and I can see Glitchen of the Month awards are not the way to go because it's too public and would require voting which would result in Ms or Mr Popular being the only ones who would ever win.

It does not, however, change the fact that I really wish there was a way for ME, just little old me, to give something special to people I think are special, something they can't get for themselves so it would have sentimental value for them.
Posted 9 months ago by Reni's Mum Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I do not think the ToS prohibits calling someone out for being especially helpful or nice.  There is even thread for some random dev today :)  (I know it is kevbob, just using "random" as a way generic-ize the shout-out).

ANYONE can name someone a Glitch of the Month.  Even if it is not official, which it probably should not be.

Cats1524 is my Glitch of the Month.  She was/is my neighbor and always has something to make me smile in her yard.  She leaves random things on my doorstep.  She sends me spice because she knows I like it.  She has a good sense of humor and names our street piggies funny things.  Her gnomes are the best trained around!

There, have I offended anyone?  I hope not, because saying Cats1524 is a great Glitch does not mean that no one else is a great Glitch.  There are lots of great Glitchen - and I bet I have never even met most of them.  There are not a lot of ways in this game to let someone know they brighten your little Glitch's life, so a small shout-out in a forum post should not drive any other Glitch to fits of jealousy or shouts of "unfair."

There.  I said it.  Cats1524 is a Great Glitch.

  • @Kookaburra - THANK YOU!  That was what I thought this thread would lead to!

    Way to go xxxxxxxx :D

  • Well, I'm not going to reveal my poorly kept secret, Enola, but I have found a way of really showing someone how special they are through a gift.  It's not exactly unique, and they can make it themselves, but it's FUNNY.  A package of items that, when put together, make for a great joke.  The result is something they absolutely cannot make for themselves, and that's being the target of an extremely beneficial and hilarious prank.

And I can tell you, all the work was well worth it.
Posted 9 months ago by Carl Projectorinski Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Either works. I tend to leave stuff inside peoples houses if I have a key, if not, i put it outside on their porches and ask later if they got it. i don't use valuables, if I wanted to use valuables I'd find the person and give it directly.

Actually, there are some jelous people that may or may not  annonomously attack those named as kindly Glitchen, as I've seen one such kindly Glitch get animals named with hateful names against them as well as their street messed with. I can't say for certain if it's jealousy or plain arsehatery, but at any case, it's best not to have such a thing to be sure that no harsh acts are committed against them.

This type of thread has been done before. At any rate, the great Glitchen know who they are and don't neccessarily need to be called out on it.
Posted 9 months ago by Ayasta Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Awww Ayasta is that true?  Do we really have people like that here?  The last thing I would want is for people to be punished for being nice so I will remove their names.

Then I am going to take myself off to bed and cry.
Posted 9 months ago by Reni's Mum Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Another fear is that if someone is nominated, the losers will all start to hate them and send them mean messages and rename their animals and steal all their stuff, spam in global, etc.

  • I really feel like the bad guys have won.
Posted 9 months ago by Reni's Mum Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Ya that's unfortunate that we don't have a glitch of the month.. there are some really well deserving glitchs out there!! ♥
Posted 9 months ago by Jessenya Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Having to remove those names from this post is making me feel really bad.  It actually makes me feel worse than I felt three weeks ago when the doctor told me I have cancer!  Go figure :/

How come we can applaud the developers without fear people will target them and we can't do the same for each other?
Posted 9 months ago by Reni's Mum Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Enola, you are a sweetheart. YOU are my glitch of the month, and what you wanted to start here is a big reason why I love this game so much.

  • Well poo then.  Sad when the griefers win just with a threat.
Posted 9 months ago by Tibbi Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Here here!! Yay Voluptua!!! There are NO bad ideas,...the merits of wishing one well or showing admiration or dare I say Love should always be encouraged and hailed!! It is imagination and ideas that drive Ur if I understand correctly,...and to that point,...... to imagine the gift of admiration for another glitch surely must be one of the most wonderful ideas ever :). Sometimes we may disagree...it is the way we are made and cant be helped,..... but Ideas wishes and dreams, these can only be bad if the intent is to harm another.

  • I really wish it wasn't true Enola, but it is, sadly. While your gesture is a great one and from the bottom of your heart, I'm sure that those whom you've named may have gotten your message and you can feel better knowing that at least they know you meant well. I think perhaps you could just send those great Glitchens a note or get a group of friends to post notes telling someone how awesome they are on their doorstep and hopefully they'll get it. ^^ I wish you nothing but the best in your Glitchy adventures.

  • I am the greatest Glitch. Vote Jope for Glitch Of The Month, every month. None surpass my awesomeness. That is all we should say about that.
Posted 9 months ago by Jope Subscriber! | Permalink
  • lol Aye for Jope!  Have we met yet??? Think we're friended..I think.

Anyways, Enola glad you have found some good interactions in this land we call Glitch! I don't see anything wrong with positive shout outs - I don't fear the worst until it happens lol So a couple of trees get depixelated or (is that even a word...) or a nasty pig name..if that's all they've got the good ones will still be on top : ) : ) : ) : )
