Stuck because of poor platform skills

I'm in Inari Deeps and I can't get out because my platform game skills aren't good enough. I keep falling back down before I get to an exit.

It's not a bug - but it's a nuisance. Up till now I'd managed to get by with treating this as a mostly point and click adventure game! Unless my son can get me out of this, it's game over for me.

  • Go to the map, click on any street and then click Teleport...

  • Thanks, Dasher, but I don't have that ability yet. When I click on the map I get "Create Link for Chat" and "Set as Destination". Maybe when I've finished learning teleportation I can escape!

  • Ok, I need teleportation 4. Give me a couple of days and I'll be escaped.

  • I recommend keeping some spinach on hand for those times when you can't quite get the jumping right.

  • :) Looks like you've got it all sorted out, I went to see if I could help.  Good luck.

  • I second the spinach recommendation. Don't leave home without it.

  • You aren't the only one w/poor jumping skills, I agree to always have spinach on hand. As a newer player that isn't always easy since it takes a while to earn currents to buy bags to give you more storage. But, as you play longer it gets better, you may not be the best jumper, but you will find other things you are good at. If there are other players in the same location you can always ask if you can follow someone out and see if that works for you. Many people playing are willing to lend a helping hand.

  • I'm not against "special" areas being difficult to jump to, or even require spinach or other items to access.  However, I think the devs should be careful that you don't need expert jumping skills or special items/foods to simply not become stuck and be able to access an exit of some kind.

  • Hmm - perhaps when something like this occurs, and you eventually run out of energy and get sent to Hell, there is new behavior for getting out of Hell.

A new option could be added to Hell that would ask if after squashing all of the grapes, you wanted to be sent back to the location you came from - or - sent back to your house. If you don't have a house, it places you back on the original "start" street that you first got deposited on at the inception of the game.

After all, in real life there are times when your skill does dictate what happens to you, perhaps the same should occur in Glitch with the added benefit of getting resurrected.

  • I also have poor platform skills, still haven't got to the top of that darn tree, have several quests that involve jumping still to do.  My problem is not being able to save enough currents to buy even the cheapest house, as I keep having to spend them on bags which I now have 4 and buying equipment to be able to do the quests I still have to do. I am on level 11 now and enjoy the game very much but lack of currents is an issue, I wish we could buy currents.

  • Platforming skills will improve with time and practice! That's my best advice. Just keep jumping and, eventually, you'll get the hang of it.

As far as currants go, if you're finding yourself chronically short, there are a few ways to handle it:

    - Reassess the way you're using the currants you do have. What are you spending them on? Tools, bags, resources? Don't be afraid to let quests sit for a little while. They won't expire, and you'll have more time than you need later on to finish them all up. If a quest requires you to buy a specific, expensive tool, there's no reason not to let it wait until you're in a better financial position to afford it.

    - How are you earning currants? Just through quests and leveling up, or have you figured out how to use your skills to make money? Mining is, according to many players, one of the best ways to earn currants in the game. A few hours' work can get you a healthy haul of ore and gems, which you can then sell at auction or to a vendor for a great profit. You can also, if you have refining and alchemy skills, grind them into elements to make powders which can also be sold at high prices.

The lowest priced houses are between 1,000 and 3,000 currants, and are definitely sufficient for a beginner. If you put your quests on hold for a while and just focus on earning, you can be a happy homeowner in a day or two at the very most.

  • Another trick to get out of somewhere you're stuck is to ask a passing player to rescue you. If you follow them (click their name, then click follow), they can jump out and your little glitch will automatically jump after them. I imagine almost anybody who wandered by the street would be happy to help you -- or ask in chat if it's a rarely traveled area. Just make sure you don't move yourself until you're ready to stop following.

  • My advice is keep spinach on hand and avoid Chakra Phool :)
    That's what I do ;)

  • I didn't beat that damned tree til I was at least level 25 and used masses of spinach! (level 31 and still haven't managed the Rook, Amazing Race and Rainbow Run!
I am jumping a bit better though ;)

  • Also, making friends that can summon you via "secondary" teleportation, and are kind enough to do so when you're in a pickle, may be a good idea. :)

I've had some great people invite to teleport me to their parties. I've never needed to take them up on it because I'm at TP5 but it's the thought that counts. :D

  • I am also terrible at jumping.  Fortunately I have Teleport so I made a tele point in the Deep when the projects were on so I could get there easily though i could just fall there and often did.  I have another point at my Home so I could get back easily enough.

If you are terrible at jumping, it probably is good to keep out of the Deeps until you at least get a FREE tele script from a project.

BTW, sometimes even with spinach I don't hit the mark - LOL!

  • I got stuck in Inari Deeps the first time I went in there and had to teleport home, When I got to know Chakra Phool a wee bit better I realised you can climb up the green "ropes", they help a bit. I hate those roof tile thingsthat look a bit like staircases but don't really work like them - not for me anyway ;).
