Obviously I can't "play" at work, but I can have my little glitchling learn some skills, and I have to say it was fun.
Excellent part of the game.
I hope I get more time to play with these skills.
@Pirate Apples: as an IT admin/nazi in a former life, there may be a way around your issue: LogMeIn. It's free, and because it uses normal web communication ports, it's tough to block unless the IT drones catch on and specifically block your "host." Also, because it's not a proxy server, you don't have to worry about flash/mxml cross-domain permissions.
I know the Vanity and the Wardrobe (both flash-based) work fine through a LogMeIn connection, but I haven't tried actual gameplay using LogMeIn.
LogMeIn is basically a remote-control software - all you need to do is leave your machine at home running, then from work, log into it and launch the game remotely. LogMeIn is vastly superior to the "other" well-known remote software, VLC, but It does have some limitations, one of which is the fact that you'll be playing in 256 colors rather than 32 million, but beacause the devs limited the color palette in use when designing the game, it still looks good.
As long as work machine isn't administratively screwed down, and will let you install a browser plug-in, it should work
As for your home machine (the host), it works on most Mac and Windows installations - there's also a Linux host option that seems permanently in beta, and I haven't used it since ubuntu 9.04, but it worked then.
LogMeIn may also allow those with anti-flash Apple iPads to play...
Ah, Kaushka! I hadn't even thought of LogMeIn!! I actually use it semi-regularly for when Mom (84, God bless her pea-pickin' heart) runs into the occasional stumbling block. I *love* that program. Makes it so easy to walk her thru any issues. We'll be talking on skype and I'll log in and then walk her through whatever she needs to do. I've mentioned this elsewhere, but I have to say.... My Mom totally rocks!!!
But, that being said, if I actually logged into the game from work, I would be so horribly distracted, my productivity would be severely diminished... really not a good idea. I'll settle for time at home. :)
I have actually tried logging in and entering the game world from work. Game loads fine, except my company's firewall seems to block some items from showing up (rock doesn't appear, cabinet and trophy case missing, and the inventory below has totally disappeared, etc). I tried disabling my machine's firewall one time and everything loaded fine, but I'd rather not have IT tag me as non-compliant, so I really really wait until I get home before I play. For now, I just spend the time at work learning skills for my glitch.
