Position on alt accounts?

Originally, TS said that alts were allowed as long as they weren't online at the same time and  didn't give the main account an unfair advantage. That was back when you could have garden plots or herb plots, but not both. Now every user can have access to both, has the position changed?

Furthermore,  if you are a high enough level and have all the skills, fully expanded house and access to all resources there, how can having an alt give you an 'unfair' advantage?

  • You could do things like deliberately lose races so your main gets the img from the win, or follow them as they teleport around to get the badges, things like that.  I had to rack my brains to come up with that though!!

  • My opinion (I have an alt):

The fact that you can now have multiple types of resources available to characters reduces the instances that can give the alt an unfair advantage, but the possibility still exists.

I will use my alt and this character as an example.

Mal'akh has fully upgraded Mining Skills and Upgrade Cards, but the alt does not. I could essentially use Mal'akh to mine for my alt and just let my alt crush or smelt at leisure.

Mal'akh has stockpiled so many resources that I don't even blink when making wall segments, doors, or any kind of furniture. My alt has the skills, but not the resources.

In both cases it would be an unfair advantage if I did that, so I don't. As much as possible I keep the resources of my characters distinct from each other, which is not to say that I don't give my alt stuff, just not ALL my stuff.

  • I remain of the idea that as long as you're not online at the same time, you can't really do anything mindboggling.
I, for instance, have access to my daughter's account which she barely ever uses. She logged to create a house because it was something new, she decorated it and hasn't logged since. I logged the other day thinking I'd put her down some resources and maybe expand a little, but it seriously wasn't worth it. Even if I used the alt regularly and fully expanded and filled the street with stuff, It would still be no different than visiting one single generic street, let alone doing the rounds on a route.
I suppose you could use it for storage, but we have so much room now that there are people asking to downgrade!

  • I maintain an alt to play undisturbed.   She has few friends and just jumps around without a care

  • I dont see anything wrong with alts because i cant see anything that is an unfair advantage in my opinion. This is not a game that you can win and nothing really even matters in this game. I love it but are we all just playing this game to beat each other at leveling up because thats not what im doing i dont play to win i just like the people.

  • For speculation a new player account gets 100 credits as start and a free sub month. One could unfairly use those to upgrade furniture and give to the main at no cost.

  • Here is the Community Guidelines

    "Play Fair

In Glitch, the journey matters far more than the destination. This game is not about just winning, leveling up, or amassing the most currants.
    • Using bots, mules, or other hacks to gain significant and unfair advantage in the game is not allowed.
    • Multiple accounts controlled by one person playing at the same time is not allowed.
    • Duping or deceiving other players into doing things which benefit you at their expense is not allowed."

So, yes, they are placing some of the weight on the player to play fair with alts.

  • I'm with Zoooo on this one. My alt doesn't run in the same crowd as I do. It is quiet and simpler, sometimes.

  • I think the critical phrase here is "significant and unfair advantage."
