The game went live the 29th, but...

How are people reaching level 30+ in just a few days? Was there some "loophole" from beta that was never discussed or closed and people abused it? Or did people really play it...that much.

I know powders (the x3 ones) really help a lot on donations, which seem to be a big part of where your exp will be coming from, but even that has daily caps. Which only leads me back to mass producing something which was overseen and never fixed (I'm looking at you cooked noodles).

  • I'm 27 mainly from mining, donations, and xp from achievements.  It took me longer than some to get up to capacity to maintain daily donations so I can understand how people are 30+ already.

  • There are about a thousand MINOR loopholes. Or at least a half dozen. Those fixed were triply fixed. Those that werent... remain. Almist every food was recently nerfed. But mostly it comes down to picking an xp-profitable activity and grinding it. The things I have seen weren't really exploits, just slight advantages, multiplied. the spread between #20 and #1 isnt very extreme, and there are at least hundreds of lvl 20ish players. i think the cap was simply underestimated, tbh.

  • Bottom line is that, from all their beta play, they knew exactly how to play for maximum gain and had worked out ahead of time the plan to follow.  I assume you are a new player, and, as such, you have spent time learning the ropes rather than making maximum progress.  Don't worry about it though, that "learning the ropes" is one of the fun parts of the game, and you only get to do it once.  Enjoy it rather than worrying how to get to level 30.  The higher levels in Glitch don't really give you that much benefit.  The best course is to just play however is most fun for you and the levels will come of their own accord.

  • Also, there was a bit of time between the reset near the end of beta and when the game went live. So beta-ers have been running their characters for a little longer than that.

  • Man, I was in the beta and post-reset, I'm only level 10.  I don't have much playing time though.

Don't worry about it.  Let the people who want to grind up, grind up.  I'm keeping my skills learning, and getting in-game when I can.  For me it was never about levelling up as quickly as possible.  My only goal right now is that 30k house!

Just have fun, forget other people's levels!

  • @We Got Dodgson

The "loophole" is that the world was reset about a week before it went live.  Beta players had about 5 days to work on their characters and skills before the game went live last Tuesday.

  • I'd be at least level 30 right now (based on my Beta progress) but I've barely had time to play in the last two weeks at all.

But yeah, EHSP (Extremely Hallowed Shrine Powder) will triple favor and XP when you donate. A lot of people got their mining, refining, alchemistry, etc. skills early on so they could make EHSP and get triple XP from donations. So there's another secret there - they had a head-start on their donation powders.

Level 30+ is cool and all, but for me, I'm content with my lil' 16 because I'm enjoying the progress more than I am focused on the competition.

  • Movin' on up is nice, sure ... but there's only one gameplay advantage that I find useful from advancing in level:  when you get your full energy refill at the start of a day, it powers you through a longer period of activity.    To do what, you say? Grind more? ;)

My point being: I really love Glitch. I personally don't feel interested in tapping away just for the sake of leveling up faster.  So I do what I enjoy. The leveling up, it happens along the way.  Some people may really enjoy mining, or seeing that XP reward.  That's cool, y'know?  It's just not necessarily the only way to play.  I don't think there is a *right* way to play Glitch.

  • As noted, we had a head start of about 3 days.  Yes, we had the advantage of knowing what needs to be done and we made plans.  I knew that food would be a big problem.  I was always starving the first time and went to Hell early on because I had no high energy foods and no currants.  I also knew that without a house I could not plant vegetables or herbs or trees.  My plan was simple, make as many currants as possible in as short a time as possible so that I could get a home quickly and start planting.  It was also imperative to learn mining and some cooking skills so that I would have ore to sell and plenty of food.  The Skills i most needed would take a while so I started out digging peat and grabbing every coin (quoin) I could each Glitch Day.  I was successful enough to purchase a house in Kalavana the second day after the Launch.  This gave me a place to store things so I had slots to place more bags.  Kalavana was an ideal location from which to dig peat.

Regarding levels, it did not take long to rise.  I walked over all of the locations, grabbing coins as I went, harvesting, squeezing nibbling, digging and mining as I went.  I completed Quests.  I sold many things to vendors and I often met the Rube who gave me some great deals on tools that I needed.

I took advantage of my prior knowledge.  I did well.  I went to Hell only once and that was planned because everyone needs to go there at least once.  This time I went out of choice rather than due to starvation.  Many other testers and maybe even some new players did even better than I, rising higher and even purchasing expensive homes in Alakol.  We did well!
