We're gonna need rookswort. Lots and lots of rookswort.

Time to discuss pre-emptive rook attack strategy?

  • As I stated before, I am preheating my oven, preparing a crossbow, and developing a plan for how to kick it in its stupid bird brain.

  • Yippie for Nanookie!!!!

Yes yes yes for pre-emptive Rook attack strategy...,finally, instead of hearing " just wait, its being updated,, that doesn't work...or that's an old vid...why bother...etc etc" (and no offense to anyone for their comments) It just is not in my nature to stand around doing/trying nothing during any kind of attack...am from NYC, Brooklyn esp, and we don't wait or take kindly to being under attack, or having those we co-exist with, trees, animals, etc being harmed...
Have been "there" for attacks in Meadow....did seem that Sparkle powder may have been a small help...(couldn't find my Focusing Orb!  or my Emo bear ,  too many darn bags...my  bad) and have teams that each, one after another, revived one animal, tree, rock, each other, at a time was especially effective....TY!! to all the Devs who answered our calls for Help with the unrevivables(sp)....and please tell us how/what to do so we can help the unrevivables on our own as per KevBob/Jade (can't remember which Dev said this)

somehow keeping one eye tuned to FSR chat was how we dispatched to outlying areas/street....a huge TY to all those giving out that info...sure helped...

Watching a number of videos (tyvm to all who posted those) was a mixed blessing:
seeing Glitches huddling together..".just stay together" (no offense..just an observation)  was a good 1st step...the next could have been...get out ya Focusing Orbs, make a circle around this area, and Radiate non-stop....there needs to be a secondary line of Glitches ready to replace the FrontLiners when their Orbs do the cool-down bit....
then, having the Emo Bear Warriors on the ready with lots of hugging n kissing for those countering the bad Rookiness can only help, even if to re-fuel those on the Front...and to be the Medic Reviver Team for all those rooked: animals, trees rocks, Glitches
also, having a team of Glitches providing High energy/mood foods n drinks esp. to those of us too busy fighting/reviving to watch our own E/M meters are vital..can't have those who face the Rooks going to Hell....lol......
would be wondrous to have volunteers ready to be called on, and/or TPing to the attack areas.....

Cerulean's idea/suggestion for a Rook Talisman and that crossbow, with the ability to use it in an attack please, excellent, excellent...TYVM,,,,,,,(and we need ovens that work..huh?)

Well, Nanookie, if i haven't talked ya to sleep by now....lol...Rookswort that we can grow in  the herb gardens (our own n community) awesome...
Thank you so much for starting this thread..its encouraging to know there are others wanting to launch an offensive /find tools/weapons/ etc rather than wait n see....xxooxx

  • Please no direct 'weapons' in Glitch, I have closets full of games like that, and it's roundabout approach to 'enemies' is part of it's quirky charm. PLEASE no weapons, or lame offensive magic; been there, done that.

  • Doesn't eating rookwort herbs help?  I've not been in one of the rook attacks yet, but I thought that was point of that herb - "Munching on this will give you the Steady as a Rook buff (no mood loss)."  Maybe I don't understand what it is for though since I'm still trying to figure out the herbs.

  • Ok Celestica.......than what would you suggest to counter the Rook attacks ....esp as the Dev Blogs tell us that the Rooks are the sworn enemies of the Giants and that we were imagined into the World of Glitch to counter their evil intentions against the Giants...to say nothing about what being rooked does to the animals n trees (and fellow Glitches)?

"lame offensive magic" indeed..not very nice of you to say...got any constructive suggestions?

  • In my experience, rookswort does not work as advertised.  Rather than giving me no mood loss, I continued losing mood while on it and reviving animals, to the point where I died once and another time went through my entire drink supply.

Is this a bug or does one need to do something to make the rookswort do what it says it will do?

  • Good to know zeeberk...thanks...

Er, SBR, I thought this game was advertised as being different...ergo the statement on the about Glitch page..."It also involves very little war, moats, spaceships, wizards, mafiosos, or people with implausibly large muscles."  Considering most other games out there have 'lame offensive magic', one can only hope that this game won't...

  • Any chance an area affecting powder might combat the rook or at least help revive the good guys?

  • Mister Cake thinks that the best way to get rid of rooks is to work together and show those mean birds that we won't be scared away from the areas they want to nibble away. "Offensive stuff" is what rooks do and Mister Cake doesn't want to be like them.

  • Yay, more strategizers! I am in OK right now visiting with my in-laws, with intermittent internet access, will post more when I get back home.

  • what seemed to work great was groups of 3 traveling together and reviving as a pack. i think it's 3 revives that revive something (department of redundancy department), so just traversing the area and helping out the dying was good strategy and good fun. it seemed also to help to have a "spotter" yelling out in chat where lots of things were dying.

at first i was really upset to have a rook in glitch. like the jujus, these were BAD GUYS and glitch was ENEMY free! but now i'm rather enjoying having something to do, and getting into stopping grinding thru whatever i'm grinding thru. good work, devs!

(just wish the lag was better!)

  • We do need to figure out how to maintain mood when reviving animals.  Drinks make with herbs? Powders? Lobbing orbs at the rooks?
Posted 18 months ago by Violet Faulds Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Violet, rookswort is supposed to maintain mood while reviving animals.  I reported that fact that it doesn't as a bug and got staff confirmation that it was a bug being looked into.

  • "Lobbing orbs at the rooks" - I totally read that as oboes, not orbs, and could not figure it out...

  • I was there during a rook attack, but the game crashed for me toward the end of it so I didn't get to experience the full thing. What exactly is the effect of the rook? I saw my screen being scratched up. My mood never went down, perhaps that happens towards the end of the attack. On the first street I was on the animals were fine, is that because people were radiating? What does the emo bear do, you can't hug the animals can you?

  • @Violet Faulds...
Maybe not lobbing Orbs at the Rooks..lol.., but a "wall" of Glitchers encircling the attack area (protecting trees, animals, herbs within) armed with and using Transcendental Radiation full on to radiate mood outward to others, with a secondary back-up team ready to take over when the 1st group gets the Orb cool-down, so there is a constant radiating to increase mood for everyone there...
Emo Bear Warriors using hug/kiss to help weaken the Rooks.wonder if splanking the Rooks could work...will have to research that one..
Rookswort  to be eaten by all Glitchers present (as soon as the "bug" preventing "Steady as a Rook" from functioning) to keep mood from being lost .....TY Zeeberk for that vital info..
Urgently requesting our awesome Devs to fix the bug preventing Rookswort from working correctly
A Call -to-Arms to all Glitchers able to grow Rookswort to begin so asap and to stockpile very large amounts so we are never in short supple (and to kindly not "rook" up the price in auctions,,,thank you)
Just read in our wiki (updated July 4th...interesting is it not?) that teams of 2 Glitchers  are needed to revive injured and dying animals, trees and plants, and each other....will need a 3rd team rescuer attached to the 2 Reviver/Rescuers supplying them with high mood foods/drinks/rookswort so they don't die themselves...too easy to forget to watch your own mood meters when under Attack and Reviving the victims...
Haven't found any powder that can be of help as yet....any thoughts?

Looking at the Rooks Alert group newly formed (and tytyty  to ya all)
How many have the ability to "summon"? That could literally be a life-saving skill...since we will need speed and strength in numbers to get units to the attack areas very quickly if we hope to keep the mortality rate minimal to nil....
Communication lines are always vital as time will not necessarily be on our side...there is also the strong possibility not everyone will want to be involved in this kind of situation..or will know what to do to protect themselves and those we co-exist with..animals, trees, plants,  but...,if we get the word out that there is a group of us getting prepared for the forthcoming attacks (and they will be coming, no doubt about that ) and to send word to us asap , we will be there....and this means not just once or twice, but to frequently remind one and all, via Forums, chats, word-of mouth, etc etc..about the Rooks Alert Rescue Teams....just hollar, hollar, hollar..we will be listening.. Peace...out.....

  • I haven't experienced a Rook Attack as yet (thankfully).  I love the way the Glitchen are banding together and planning ways to minimize the damage done.  I sure hope the DEVs will back them off  quite a bit when we go live since it will take time for us to get the skills necessary to fight them.

  • I had a rookified something-or-other give me a hint having something to do with powder.  Fertilidust and sparkly powders didn't seem to do much to help reviving, although I was out on my own, so if either of these powders was supposed to work somehow, it's possible that it reduced the revivals needed by 1.  Otherwise, maybe a different powder?  Maybe 2 or 3 simultaneous sprinklings of the same, or of different powders might help?

I suspect that as it was repeatedly said that this was a sneak preview, the devs are getting the attack right, and as there is more to test in terms of defensive and offensive strategies, there will be clues of this from the devs and the game itself.  The mention of the powder was the first clue I've seen that there might be more to this thing than so far meets the eye.
