Watering Crops

What effect does watering crops have?

Does the level of Croppery skill have any effect on the results (if any) gotten from watering?

Is it necessary at all?

After you've planted seeds in a moist plot, do you ever need to water it again to get a harvest?

Does watering shorten the time from planting to harvest?

Does it increase yield?

Does watering only affect mood, energy, xp, and give bonuses sometimes?

  • If you look at a garden or herb plot you will see two bars:  one of them shows the stage of growth for the plant, the other shows how dry (or wet) the plot is.

If the plot goes completely dry, the plant will stop growing until you water it again.  Depending on how wet the plot is when you plant the seed, and how long the seed takes to grow, you might or might not have to water again.

Watering doesn't shorten the time, but guano does.  Watering gives you xp and mood, takes away energy and, depending on your skill level, gives you bonuses at increasing rates.   Skill level increases yield.

  • Watering makes Mab happy. And that's always a good reason to water.

And like WindBorn pointed out, if your crops dry out they quit growing. You also can't plant on a dry plot.
