Greeters & Multiples

So, I know I have heard that greeters were "turned off" for a little bit, but I seem to have missed this crucial part of entering the world.  Perhaps it has shaped my opinions drastically compared to other people.  But now I feel left out cause I didn't get one :(.  Thinking about using my other email account to create a brand new baby Glitch and test out this greeter system.

One more thing, I've heard it mentioned in passing that someday subscribers may have the ability to create multiple Glitches on one account.  Is there an official answer to this?  I try to search the forums instead of starting new ones, but often I find only threads that may be slightly related to what I'm looking for, but rarely a direct link.

  • I'm worried that I did have a greeter and I completely ignored them  :0{
    I don't remember----maybe they slipped me some purple, I'm going to go with that!

  • Yes the whole thing is very confusing to me.  Where do the greeters meet you?  I just wandered into the world on my own.  My boyfriend didn't have a greeter either, and he got stuck in the starting area and a dev had to teleport him out.  A greeter probably would have helped him through that situation (took quite some time for him to figure out how to get his Glitch unstuck)

  • I don't remember having a greeter but I had some omnipresent voice narrating the situation for me, which made it easy to figure everything out. Then I kind of just wandered and learned on the way. Like finding Narnia and stuff.

  • I got the option to summon a greeter when I started up, but I chose not to at the time. Since that was test-before-last, I assume they're back on?

  • The "tutorial" has changed has changed a bit. (And may change again.)

    Now you go through some streets led by the rock. Then you end up at a relative large play space street. There are there different ones. (One for each of the Groddles.) Places to climb and jump etc. Also there are items lying around (butterfly lotion and a butterfly, music box, spinach) with notes that explain the use of each one.

    When greeting is turned one (it is my understanding), when players enter this last street, they are given the option to call a greet. If they do, a greet arrives shortly to hang with them, answer questions, help them out if need be.

    As to multiples, I have heard that too but have not seen a dev quote about it... only seen people say that dev(s) have mentioned it.

  • Err nvm about the greeter portion.

    beta.glitch.com/forum/gener...

    For those interested, Pepper_Rose just linked that  in another forum about greeters.

    But any word on the multiple players per account?

  • Greeting was turned off completely for maybe six weeks or so, which meant that anyone joining the game during that time was not given the option to speak to a greeter.  Then, about a month ago, greeting began again, but it was intermittent, with the option being turned on and off several times per day.  Now it is usually on during American daylight hours while we're testing, provided that there are enough greeters available to meet demand.  (Sometimes we want to just play the game!)

    Many testers do have more than one account, for various reasons, and while I do understand the curiosity about greeting, I'd hope that people starting second accounts would not request greeters.  We're a limited resource, and we try to concentrate on helping truly new players.  Also, it's usually pretty clear to us when someone has played before.  :)
