PLEASE READ: Flash text rendering bug

Hello everyone!

If you have upgraded to the most recent version of Flash- 10.3.183.5, there is a rendering bug that we had to build some workarounds for. We are still polishing it up, but you will likely see some weirdness in the game with text. ALSO: Fonts may still look messed up even if you haven't upgraded.

The major issues you will see:

• Fonts in most will look different, and perhaps even a little strange. The text might be clipped or look a little 'off'.

• Crafter dialogs may break: If you use crafter tools for recipes (like foods, drinks, elements, powders), choose a recipe, then go back to the main recipe list- you will see the text shift to a vertical layout. Not good!

If either of these issues occur for you, please do NOT report it- we know, we're building workarounds, and also waiting for Adobe updates.

If something looks totally unreadable otherwise, let us know. If you are reporting a bug for it, please outline the steps that brought you to that point.

Thank you!

  • Aww...ty PA...I'll have my son do a rollback for me, if need be, when he gets here tomorrow. (((HUGS)))

@kevbob ...What about the debugger - will we need to do anything with that since this new flash update (tho, I don't think I ever actually got the debugger to work for me to begin with)?

  • Oh Carp!  So maybe it isn't a good Idea to keep upgrading Flash?  lol  (yep 10.3.183.5 here).

  • It still looks like the debugger wasn't updated. That's what mine says it is running. The 10.3.183.5 is listed as available. Think I'll pass and hope for the best.

  • Fonts may still look weird even if you haven't updated.

  • Thanks kevbob..Due to the font change and fact that it is also smaller some of the MALs in my chat (including me)  resorted to shouting at one another just to be able to read, LOL!

  • I sure hope the font type is temporary to get us through this bug...not a fan of it at all...I'm not that old, and it's a bit too small for me (especially since it's a serif font, harder to read).

  • I have the 'bad' upgrade too, but I don't have font problems. However I can't read the maps or zone without reloading the game. Possibly tied to this or should I consider it a seperate bug?

  • I reloaded several times and my font went back to normal even though I have the updated version of flash, not sure how that works but maybe a couple refreshes can help some people

  • Aw, the "older flash version" workaround--where refreshing the page with the "oops, old flash" let you still load--doesn't work anymore. That's a bummer. I like to check in on the campus public access computers during lunch.
