  • Stews are good, and I do make them one at a time, but that's a lot to spend (time or currants) rounding up the ingredients.

I figured making flour then buns then sammiches (each step one item at a time) gets the most wear for the least resources.

    anyone have any other suggestions?

  • What are the mechanics at work there anyway?

Every time you use it, there's a certain chance, that it breaks? Or why doing things one at a time?

  • I'm making a takeaway service, so if one of my kitchen tools breaks, you will hear from me instantly!

  • cool thanks maxy and louis louisson, we do things one at a time because there is no set limit on kitchen tools, so you could use it making things one at a time, and after about 50 uses it would be broken, or you can make stacks of things at a time, like 40 buns for example, and it would still break after a bout 50 uses, and use a TON more energy.

  • ...but you also have a lot more buns...

Act now to stop the bun shortage!

  • I think this has changed.  Lately when I have been cooking stacks of stuff, whatever tool I am using seems to break after fewer than 10 uses.  Also, I got this badge primarily with Sammiches.  I started out with Lemburgers, but I found it took way more energy.

When I break a kitchen tool now, I always put them on the auction since they are easy to make new.

  • Make flour. Zilloween is coming.

  • Since making a few hundred flour for Pii day, it seems that odds for breaking now scale by stack size, so making 1 at a time takes 2-3 times longer to break, and stacks of 40 would break every 2-4 stacks.

I don't have hard stats, or the any idea of inflection points on the curve, but larger stacks will definitely break tools faster.

  • Oh wuilyl but it was. It changed, sometime between Feb 1 and March 14th.

Quite a bummer IMHO, I liked breaking boards whilst making Wavy Gravy.

  • When entering a new street you get experience points, based on your mood.  I wonder if the Wear on tools is also partially dependent on outside factors such as mood, meditation, etc.  Also, does it matter if you fully exit the menu then reopen it, as opposed to just clicking "make more"?
In any case here are some experimental results, starting with a freshly repaired Knife & Board, and Frying Pan

making flour, 20 at a time, made [360] and then k&b broke
making flour, 40 at a time, made [160] and the k&b broke
    then made buns, then
making flour, 40 at a time, made [560] and the k&b DID NOT break (very strange)

making buns, 20 at a time, made [380] and the fp broke
    then made more flour then
making buns, 40 at a time, made [ 80] and the fp broke
making buns, 40 at a time, made [240] and the fp broke
making buns, 40 at a time, made [160] and the fp broke
making buns, 40 at a time, made [240] and the fp DID NOT break

    did break the k&b then
making sammiches, 20 at a time, made [400] and the k&b broke
making sammiches, 40 at a time, made [360] and the k&b broke
making sammiches, 40 at a time, made [600] and the k&b DID NOT break
