A Few Small UI suggestions

Today was my first day playing Glitch and I had a great time. I was quite dissapointed when I had to leave for work :) There were a few small UI things that I thought could use another look.

It might be easier to drag things to the slots within the bag (or backpack?) rather than them having to go straight onto the bag. I did this a few times before I realised I had to go through the bag.

I had some trouble planting seeds in my garden. This, as it turned out, was because there were already some seeds in the plots. It might be useful to have an explanation of why you can't plant seeds there, such as 'this square already has X seeds,' I wasn't entirely sure what the red rectangle indicated.

When I wanted to sell something to one of the merchants it was a little counter intuitive to click to 'buy' to get to the section where I would be able to click to sell.

Also, at the moment the only way to save seems to be the save and quit feature, in these early alpha stages it might be useful to have a regular save button, where you can then continue playing. Alternatively, if the game automatically auto-saves, you could change the 'save and quit' to just be 'quit,' kind of like how the iPhone doesn't have save dialogues.

  • Today was my first day too, and I agree with (most of) your points!

I'm not sure what you mean by your first point. :/ I for one would hate having to drag items from the ground into my backpack; with people running around, it might require some mouse acrobatics. :P If you're talking about bags *inside* the backpack (the drawer things), I believe things actually land in your backpack, and you have to drag them into the bags manually. I personally find this to be really annoying and wish things would stack right into the bags automatically. If you're talking about the spice rack or the element thingie... that's because spices and elements are supposed to go there. It keeps your backpack tidier ^^

I don't have a house yet. :( I just bought one right after testing closed though. :P

I agree with the buy option. Preferably, the merchants would have a small sell button and keep the large buy button, but the buy and sell dialogs should still have links that take users to the other. For now, though, changing the "Buy" button to "Trade" or "Buy and Sell" would work. ^^

Since the game is server based (I think nothing really happens on your computer) there *is* nothing to save. If you refreshed the page, you might notice you won't lose anything. I think the "Save and Quit" button may just be a prompt for people to log out of the game world--mmorpgs tend to do funny things when you just close them down without logging out, but I'm not sure what Glitch does. I think maybe changing it to just "Quit" would make more sense though.
