Subscription Question

I know that previously this question was up in the air and Stoot hadn't made up his mind on it, so I'll ask again since my sub expires near the end of this month.

When I renew, will I be able to get the special price that I signed up for during the beta special?  I bought the Moly Sub at $89, and I was wondering if I will get the same price, or if it will go up to the $140ish a year or whatever.

If it goes up, and I don't get the original price, I may have to switch to a non yearly plan.  Since I can't see the plans since I am still subbed, and I forget what they were, I'll have to check it out when I'm expired.  It would be nice to be able to see and renew the plans ahead of time!

  • Stoot:   I AM talking about that page..  And Low and behold.. it now takes me to the purchase screen!  Saaaa-weeeeet!
Before it would take me directly to the 'so you wanna purchase credits' screen instead.
oh, and I ugh.. 'tested' the upgrade purchase screen as well.  Looks like that works too :)

Not sure why it was different before......
    Thanks!

  • Maybe I'm misremembering, but didn't there used to be a 3-month option? I just cancelled my Moly month-to-month sub so that I could resub at the 3-month rate, but the only options when I click "extend my subscription" are monthly or yearly.

It's also kind of irking me that I'd have to pay the 144 per year when some people can extend for 108 per year, but that's life I guess.

But yeah, was there ever a 3-month option, or did I imagine that?

  • I renewed my subscription for a year. It looks like I can renew it for another year. Is there a limit on how many times/years I can renew?

  • Aurora Dellaterra — there hasn't ever been a 3-month option which you can purchase for yourself (though there are 3-month gift subscriptions and that's probably what you were thinking of). It's something we are thinking of adding at some point in the future (but, all payment things are more complicated than they seem).

  • 00: There might not be a limit right now, but there should be. So, we'll look into it and probably prevent additional renewals beyond the first year.

  • Ah, that must have been what I saw. Thanks, Stoot! I may just have to bite the bullet and buy a year ;)

  • Stoot said:

@Sheepy: Yes, $108.66 would be the price. And, currently, if you renew and then upgrade later, the discount will not be available — it only works if you upgrade and then renew.

But I can't upgrade now and another answer said that I had to let my subscription expire before I could upgrade. If I do that, will I get the renewal discount?

  • @ Mocha Maid   I had that problem at first too... there was a minor bug
    go here https://www.glitch.com/subscribe/
if it still doesn't work for ya.. I would submit a help case.. you definitely want to upgrade before renewing (if you are trying to do both)

  • You spent 86 on your yearly subscription when there was a special sale  going on, and that sale ended. Yet you want to be grandfathered in at that price?

There are so many reasons that is not going to work, but I'll list he main one.

    The sale is over.

If you dont want to pay the actual price now that the sale is over, then dont renew. You asking to be grandfathered in at a sale price is like going to Sears, and buying a washer on sale. Then asking to buy a brand new washer at the sale price when the one you bought is old and you want a new one, even tho the sale is over.

You: I want this washer for 89, just like my old one.
Sears guy: I'm sorry, but that sale is over. The washer is now 140.
You: But a year ago it was only 89! I want it for 89 again now.
Sear Guy: Sorry. That sale ended a year ago. You will have to buy full price now if you want another washer.
    You: But that isnt fair!
    Sears Guy: *Walks away*

See what I'm saying? Theres a reason sales have dates to them. And theres a reason they end. A sale for a subscription is no different than a sale at your local store.

  • Hey, Stoot - I'd shift to a 3-month or 6-month moly subscription with a little bit of a discount immediately.  Right now the full year moly makes me cringe a little even though I lose the discount paying $14.99 a month.

Blizzard does $14.99 for one-month, $13.99/month for three months, and $12.99/month for six months of World of Warcraft. They don't offer year-long subs. I liked to save a little money on a 3-month plan and the $41.97 was reasonably non-threatening when it came through Paypal.

(By the way you should be proud to know that Glitch has replaced my WoW subscription!)

  • Just wanted to pop in and let TS know that, even tho I'll not be re-subbing this account (expires on the 28th of this month) or sgjo's (expires the 28th of Oct.), it's not because I don't love Glitch...I just can't afford to no matter what the price is - money has been very tight. :(

  • I'm thinking I'll probably downgrade to Copper after this month - you know, starving student and all that, and I always have more credits and tokens than I can use, but I still want to show my support for TS! When you guys do add a 3-month or 6-month option, I'll be all over that Moly again :)

  • So.. maybe I missed this.. If I let my Moly expire (income is pretty tight right now and I just found out I might not have a job in a couple of months) and then buy a Copper or Tin.. have I lost all the benefits (unused TP tokens, votes, etc) that I received from my Moly?  Thanks TS :)

  • Princess, you don't lose any tokens/credits/votes you have racked up.  You'll just stop getting new stipends.

  • Just want to say a huge thank you for sorting this out TS, you are all amazing :D

*A very happy renewed subscriber :)
