Chickens vs. Pigs: XP and Mood points

OK, I have been playing the game since alpha and I am at the tip top of the Animal Kinship skills tree but the chicken/pig disparity has been bugging me for a while.

When I pet a pig (two times per pig per day) and two nibbles per day, I seem to receive XP each time. On the other hand when I squeeze a chicken, most times I just expend energy and get grain... no mood boost, no XP. This makes no logical sense to me. It makes more sense to me to grow the grain and avoid the chickens altogether if I am simply expending energy.

  • I'd cheerfully avoid the chickens. Ruuuude chickens. I usually just squeeze them when they get in my way, hadn't really noticed the benefit/lack.
Altho, they're handy when you want to produce a piggy.

  • I've noticed this too actually. When I was still at around Animal Kinship 4 or 5, chickens gave 3 XP per squeeze. But that was at most two months ago. Now that I am at AK7, the XP reward seems to be gone. I don't know if something was adjusted, or if being at a higher AK level does eliminate the XP rewards for the chickens.

EDIT: I've squeezed a chicken and it gave me 2 XP.... maybe it's random?
