Depends...if you have trees, they should, since they will likely nibble the trees. If they are in pens, probably not...my piggies aren't eating off the ground any longer and I just lost all 5 of my penned piggies over the past few days even when I've been hand feeding them and left food on the ground for them. (and yes, I've posted a bug report on this).
ETA: Piggy feeders only work with RHK...if you don't have it yet, not worth having a feeder around.
I was away last weekend. I think I had 6 pigs and filled my feeder when I left Friday morning. When I came back Sunday afternoon, two were piles of meat :(
Wow. Piggies are.... PIGS!
It seems like now that the game is open all the time, more people are having trouble keeping their pigs alive when they step away from the game for a while!
I'm resurrecting this thread so I can ask a related question:
I didn't play the game for a couple of days, but I left a pile of 50 cherries for my two pigs. When I came back, one pig was hungry and the other was dead, and there were 49 cherries in the pile. (I do not have a pig feeder or a meat collector.)
Is this the way it's supposed to work?
Edited to add: The weird thing is, I know the pigs eat the cherries while I'm playing the game. I wonder if this is a bug.
Trees will keep piggies alive for a surprisingly long time.
I forget whether trees regrow after each Glitch day or not.. But if they do, that may mean a reasonable amount of pigs could be kept alive indefinitely.
