Hiking Glitches?

I'm on my way home from a lovely hike in a real forest--far from Groddle, but not without similarities. While saying hello to a passing hiker (because almost all hikers say hello), I thought "Huh. Hikers are (pretty much) universally friendly. Reminds me of Glitch. I wonder what the intersection of Glitches x Hikers is?"

"Hikers" being loosely defined, here. If you like to walk in the woods, you count.

  • I live in the woods here very close to the big city of Vancouver.we got skunks, rabbits deer and coyotes, and lots of fast walkers around the perimiter of this forest.takes about 500 house`s I suppose.hwy very close 5 min over the trees and preserved salmon brook.everyone is very polite when we see each other ,does remind me of the meadows in Glitch without the doggys.once a snake crossed my path and the devil in me wanted to come out and crush his damn head in but this hiker who was soon behind me picked the darn thing up and threw it to the brook .looked at me and said thats okey dear all better.hahaha scaired the living pissys out of me.

  • Me!  But you know that since we were hiking together and had this thought independently of each other and then an ensuing conversation.

Well, I think I also added "man, where's the fruit tree to pet?"

  • Just got back from a five mile hike a couple of hours ago. The weather was gorgeous and the views were spectacular.  All the people I passed along the way were very friendly.  If you're ever visiting Maui, I recommend it!

  • my wife and i hike!

the last big hike we did was up Thunder Creek to junction camp in the North Cascades National Forest.

the forest was amazing, and i will admit that i thought about Groddle Forest while we were in there.

unfortunately it also made me think that groddle forest could borrow more from how things are naturally beautiful, as it felt like the forest had much more variation and cleverness in its landscape. i'd like to see more things like nurse logs and log bridged waterfalls in Groddle Forest or some future forest.

maybe Tiny Speck should go on retreats to various areas like the ones they are creating in the game. they could camp, take notes, draw from life, get ideas and have campfires and then come back to the game and take what they've learned and put it, or even more fantastic versions of it, into the game : ]

  • Wouldn't call myself a "hiker", but I walk in the woods often.   In the fall it's for mushroom collection/identification.   In the summer/spring/winter it's for exercise or looking for berries and other edibles.  Sometimes to geocache too.

Yeah, most people out there in the sticks are friendly :)

  • Many great men walked or hiked to clear their minds.. We used to call it taking a constitutional. Hiking - walking- has incredible benefits...The soul sings... we are reunited with our animal friends...    we are out in the elements... There should be hiking classes in the grammar schools to reunite today's couch potato kids with the great outdoors.   What amazes me is people who hike across   Australia   or   North America... Now that is a good hike.

  • Though I haven't exactly hiked across Australia I have crossed the Nullabor Desert by Greyhound Bus at least four times. Does that count. lol

My greatest hiking times were in the Pennine Ranges of England many years ago with a group of schoolfriends and a wonderful teacher who recently passed away. The experiences were a wonderful time of my life. :)

  • *Waves* Living in Wet Yorkshire, I spend most weekends and many evenings hiking or MTBing across the hills. And since I'm both, I always take great care while cycling to do my bit to foster hiker/biker friendliness.

Day trips only, though - I do it for the sheer pleasure of being out in the countryside, not for the stoic "man against nature" roughing it stuff. Always back to home or tent in a comfy campsite with hot showers at the end of the day!

  • I don't hike, but I dog walk a fair amount. Usually about 26 miles a week.
I like to keep to a minimum of that distance, as it's kind of reassuring to know that if I ever went completely insane and decided to enter a marathon, I can be sure that I'll be done in a week lol

I meet a few other dog walkers on my travels, would be nice to bestow random kindness on them and give them some more energy, but I settle for a "Hello, how are you?".   Some of them can be grumpy, and being able to activate a spinach and jump right over them would be nice, but the majority are quite friendly and pleasant people and dogs :)

  • For those who are housebound....you can walk in place.... put some music on... have a cocktail or a glass of your favourite water,                 mine being                             San Pelegrino sparkling natural mineral   water.
Commence to move your body...if you are a quadraplegic, move your mind. Take a journey to the Other Side... when I play Glitch this is what I do.. endless perambulations in a mindless world of fantasy and intrigue... thank you Stoot and I bless the day you were born.....................................

  • I live in the north Georgia mountains and love to hike!  I walk my doggies in my area 3-5 miles every morning, which some would consider hiking lol!  I live relatively close to the start of the Appalachian Trail and it winds all over up here.  Plus there's lots of trails at our state parks up here.  Does anyone else geocache?  A great way to find out of the way hikes, I've found some very close to where I live and never knew about the areas!
