Are the Dev's Like Us?

So reading through all the forums of people DYING for the game to open, I was wondering, are the devs this excited for when the game is open?  Is it something you guys can't wait for or something you dread cause then you have to listen to all our complaints?

"What if GOD was one of us...."

    seriously, good question.

  • yes. they are excited to see how people react.

also, they get a ton of compliments along with those complaints. i don't think we need to fear for their egos.

also also, Devs means more than one Dev [plural], whereas Dev's means belonging to a Dev [possesive].

i see grocers' apostrophes on "Devs" a lot here in the forums. thought i might bring it up.

  • I think they must feel a mixture of relief that they can take a deep breath and sit back for a minute  or two...but they also need to keep a close eye on things in case Glitch's start spontaneously exploding all over the place or something (lol @ bored_one ....la...laaa....."just a slob like one of us...")

  • i suppose it could be an apostrophe to signal the omission of "eloper" in Developer .. but then we'd be writing Dev' and Dev's' and such, right?

  • Stri - Spellcheck version 1.0.2
Posted 18 months ago by Divine~ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Divine~ in this case it would be punctuation check 1.0.2 because "Dev's" is a correct spelling.

a spellchecker wouldn't pick up on it, since "Dev's" is a proper word meaning "belonging to a single dev".

of course i rarely capitalize and i throw commas and elipses and hyphens around like they're going out of style, often inappropriately.

  • But in reality all the devs arent actually "Devs" Developers normally mean coders, there are other job roles such as community management, and product development. They are and arent a dev, sorry if i confused anyone :P . but if i was a "Dev" i would love to play and see something that i contributed to, grow

  • They are not like me, in that they are making Glitch, and I am not.

  • the devs work very very very hard. and it doesn't really give them much of a break when there are tests - they're still at the computer, fixing bugs and stuff the whole time (at least the coders).

  • and omg, stri, the grocers' apostrophe is a MAJOR pet peeve for me. ARGH.

  • so refreshing to know there are grammar and punctuation police here as well.

  • I love policing grammar, punctuation, spelling and syntax. And just plain ol' logic, in general, ahaha.

  • @stri: thanks for the punctuation lesson.  My favorite thing about the internet: I don't have to worry about my spelling/grammar cause for once I'm not being graded on it.  So, let me butcher the Engilsh langauge in paece.  :)

  • I like Divine's word when referring to the peeps making this awesome game: awesomer(s)
@ cupcake: I appreciate your comment....and I thank awesomers' families for putting up with their 16 hours days and often 7 day work weeks (( hugs ))
@ Linnaea: developers, developers, developers, developers----hahahhaha! I got about halfway thru.

  • @stri - I was being flippant , but thanks for putting so much consideration into the whole thing :P

  • Nope...

Everyone of them knows when the game will really open.

Not one of us has that kind of information, only rumors.

Big difference which side of the fence you live on.

  • xox - that's not actually true, I know from first-hand experience that no one, even the devs, is certain exactly when it'll open.

  • I see the hearts of the folks at Tiny Speck everywhere in Glitch. I see a passionate commitment to what they are creating. I see their personalities and humor everywhere I turn. I see a love of what they do and an excitement that builds with every change, every release.

So are the devs like us? Let's expand that to ask -- are all the Tiny Speckles like us? I dare say that they are more passionate and more committed and more excited. While we have the honor and pleasure of sharing in the evolution of Glitch, they breathed life in every pixel.  That isn't to say that they don't have their moments or wish that the pace slowed at times. But I do believe that the sense of having given life to the world we love goes far beyond any rabid fandom we may feel.

  • But to answer the original question, no, they're not like us. I believe several of them have beards.

  • Laurali, I can see the devs opening the test run with their fingers crossed, hoping for a smooth test. I also see them just as eager if more so to get the bugs fixed in a timely manner without a hitch. All while enjoying watching everyone play the game they are working so hard to create as close to everyones liking and then some.

  • If the devs are trying to figure out a way to incorporate bunnies and platypi into the game, then yes, they are like me.
