I've already invited friends who I think will like the game because it's a good game. That's how these things should spread, organically. This whole forced method with the feat doesn't pass the sniff test. Boo, TS. :(
And you don't just need to send them invites..you need to then make sure that they *accept* said invite in order to be counted as contributing. I'll sit this one out, thanks.
There's a couple of folks on FB I'd wanted to invite anyways, but I don't know them well enough to ask for their e-mail. I don't think it's a bad feat, we're getting one last chance to get our friends in before the floodgates open. And open they will!
Not a cool :( Sitting this one out, I will miss my 75 currents at the end (ha ha!) but, hey. This isn't really a feat, it's marketing, too Farmville. Didn't really expect this...
I'm disappointed in you, TS. I've already invited everyone who I thought would be interested, and without wanting any reward but to have other people I know enjoy Glitch. Giving individual in-game rewards to the people who'll willingly spam everyone they know for the next day is just... iffy.
You know, I think TS might have done better if they had just asked us to drum up some new players, this idea just seems to have pissed (almost) everyone off.
A one-time event push for more invites does not a Zynga game make. This feat makes sense if this epic is designed to be a public relaunch event. Notice the blog post where it can't fail - a failed feat will add a lamer redo feat to the epic.
That said, I think a lot of us have invited the people in our lives we think would actually be interested, and none of us are terribly comfortable "pushing" on invitations. Unless stoot clues us in that it *is* a public relaunch event, I think this one was a bit of a mistake.
I don't believe this feat. It is just going to lead to the creation of lots of bogus alt accounts, most of which will never get played, and a lot of good names might get chosen which truly interested players will not get a chance to pick later on.
Seriously, did you actually think this through? Most of us that have been playing for very long have already invited all the friend we think would want to play.
Lamest. Feat. Idea. Ever. (so far)
And why I quit playing almost everything Facebook. Ugh.
Feats should be based on in-game play. Have some other reward for invites, if you have to, but not this.
I thought I was just being an ungrateful friendless weirdo when I saw the task and my heart sank. But no, some people agree. It sucks to have to spam people and coax them into joining just for some favor and currants and stuff. ITA with RainCat, have a referral system where you get special things, but not this. I feel so so bad saying this about my favorite freemium game, though.
I do wonder what will happen if this one fails. I mean, it already kind of started with a whimper IMO.
I love this game and I believe in it, which is why I have already invited my friends to play. Any invite that happens in hopes of an in-game reward is... not the sort of invite you want to encourage, I think. This feat makes me feel gross all over.
This is depressing TS, you couldn't come up with anything better to get people to invite friends?
Why not a referral program, like so many others sites do? Making it a feat is just silly. Most of the people "invited" are going to be alts of existing players, or are just flat out going to decline.
2 days also is sad. People were looking forward to the feats in this epic only to have a two day stall in the middle where we aren't actually DOING anything.
Wow really not cool. I have invited plenty of people but I'm not going to do it because of a bribe. Feats should just be in game stuff it shouldn't require things outside of glitch.
OK T.S. , I believe by now you see the majority of us feel this is SUPER lame. Let's just hurry n change the FEAT and we will all pretend this never happened. :)
A sad day to see such here in a game that is so wonderfully different in so many amazing ways. I too love this game, more I love the people who have made it, so its a deep hurt for me to say how disappointed I am at this particular feat, the other parts of this epic I have thoroughly enjoyed, but this . . . no
I've already tried to invite people a year or more ago. Personally, I feel that feats should be kept in game and as non-spammy as possible. Every time I've gotten an invite for some game on facebook I've blocked it. Just my two cents...*shrug*
If this is a Machiavellian scheme to identify those who would stoop to inviting dummy accounts so they can be banned and the community improved then bravo.
Polly Nomial: (to the original question) no, there is no mechanism for referrals. Someday, there will be.
To everyone who hates this feat: Sorry! Take a break for the next 22h55m and it'll pass right by. And, think of this: groups that go through horrible/challenging/harrowing experiences together come out stronger and more cohesive for it. Just think how strong the community will be after! (Since I am already very late for a family dinner, a longer and more thoughtful reply will have to wait until later …)
Why didn't TS just ask us all to invite friends and give us a "gift" of some kind if they signed up? Some credits, a wardobe or vanity item. We were already asked to "like" Glitch on FB (for 25 credits), so all our FB contacts had THAT popping up on their FB home page. I quit FB over a year ago partly because of FarmVille ("shiver runs down spine"). I did sign in just to get the credits, however,
We all love the game and want it to succeed. I just don't see any appeal in this - making us sound like whiny losers if we don't participate. "thumbs down" for this "feat" :{
Stoot answered the OP in this thread by saying:
"I'm not an FB expert, so someone else please chime in if I have this wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can send anyone an email as an FB message @ the facebook.com domain. So, for example, if you friend's page is at facebook.com/suity.mcdressypants, then suity.mcdressypants@facebook.com will work as an email."
It works, I tried it! (yes, I'm a social media moron)
I'm having horrible flashbacks of FS. I, too, have invited all my FB and other friends that I thought would like this game, a long time ago - many joined and are here now.
I, for one, really hate this feat. It does feel really spammy and considering I don't have many gamer friends I feel like sending out invites would just be obnoxious and wasteful since most wouldn't like this game and that would hurt my feelings. I've been sitting this Epic out for the most part. I'm waiting for one that I would actually enjoy. Though I have been watching the counter for the Feats and stressing cause I really want the goals to be reached so we can have new regions or thingies. I love thingies.
I am iffy on this feat. I'm afraid it's going to cause a ton more alts to be registered, but then again, because of the public nature of feats, it will be easy to catch cheaters.
I was sad I might miss out on most of this feat because I'd be away from my computer all evening, but turns out I won't be missing out on anything. I was hoping for some kind of cooking and eating event with meeting in the streets to exchange meals, but we got an uninspired fishing for additional signups.
Edit: it's Saturday night, Stoot! Stop worrying about us busy-bodies and check in later.
Does Glitch need to show greater growth, even if it's just number of registered accounts and not concurrent players?
Will the next step be Integration with Facebook? Meaning, a 'Facebook client' that FB users can use to enter the game? Because Big Fish tried that with Faunasphere. I am sure others can contribute their observations of how that move went.
