Ability to mute still beeping or only beep at end of batch

Pretty pretty please, let me turn off the beeping of the still. I have several in my house and they beep constantly. (I much prefer to listen to the happy banjo music and it makes me sad to have to mute my computer.)

Can we please have a growl like the meat/milk collectors instead? Or if it must beep, can it be when the entire batch is done instead of just one hooch? Pretty pretty please?

  • I'd love it be when an entire batch is done, that way I can keep adding grain to it and never hear it beep but still get massive hooch-o-nomics!

  • Did you know that there are two different volume controls for the game?  One controls the background music and the other controls the sound effects.

Try muting the sound effects and leaving the background at a level you enjoy.

  • The thing is, I use the other sound effects. I like knowing when my batch of Tasty Pastas is done in case I am also reading something in another tab. The only sound effect that has driven me crazy thus far is the dang beeping!

That suggestion might work for other people though.

  • WindBorn: I agree with Knitomaton, the sound effects are extremely helpful in game, including hearing when things stop making noise (like grinding allspice stopping, to know I need to do more).

Incessant beeping from 10 stills in a house would mean I'd need to go elsewhere to do other chores that require me to pay attention to audio feedback for cues :-(

A single set of beeps when a still was fully done with it's stack of grain meant I could stay put and multitask within my own home :-)

  • +111110000 ..I came into the forums to post about this very topic

At a minimum, remove the beeps, it can do a LITTLE steam hissing...but for the most part distillers set their machines up and leave them alone until later.

The beeping is making it so that I dont want to be in my own house!

PLEASE address this, it is very VERY bad.  Thanks, guys.

  • Yes, please.  The random still sound effect startles me.  It doesn't seem to have anything to do with finishing a batch of grain.

While we're at it, can the still please use all 500 units and finish at zero? I'd like to dump in bushels of grain but it never seems to zero out so that I can put in two bushels.

  • So, yeah... I just checked all three phones, two smoke detectors, and a carbon monoxide detector to find out what was beeping in my house.  To find that it wasn't actually something in my REAL house.  This sound is awful, would be awesome if you could at least change it to not sound exactly like my smoke detector dying.

  • The still is a hard sound to hook up.  Who should it play for? When should it play?  Or is it just the sound that it annoying?  Any suggestions are welcome.

  • I think the annoying aspect is that it whistles intermittently throughout the entire distillation process. Most of us already recognize that we are free to collect from our Meat Collectors and Butterfly Milkers before they have reached capacity and I think the whistle that signals each and every Hooch produced (if this is indeed what it signals and is not just a signal that the still is working) is overkill.

To me something like this would be ideal:

I add ingredients to the still and hear the hiss of steam (no whistle) announcing the start of the process as the distillative juices begin to flow. Once the entire batch is done (or the still has reached its 50 hooch capacity) I hear the steam + whistle sound announcing the end of the distillation process.

Also I would like to receive a message similar to the "One of your garden crops is ready to pick" messages when the still is finished/at capacity (ETA: regardless of whether I am home or elsewhere in the world.)

  • This should be fixed now so that the sound only plays at the end of a batch.
