Super exciting! Pray tell, is the 5-QQ-per-day limit in place for oldbies? I seem to remember it was, then it wasn't, then it... was? I don't mind if the limit is there, I just don't want to keep charging around looking for QQ's that won't spawn until new day.
Pale Queen: yep, there is a limit of 5 qurazies per game day from streets you have already explored (streets you've never visited still always give you a quoin).
Brzum: there is currently now way to check if you've completed a particular quest, but: (1) you'd probably remember it, (2) you'd probably still have the conch and (3) when you make your first contribution to the feat, you are notified in-game and (4) you can go to the feat page and see if you've made a contribution (your head will show up in a smaller circle beside the large circle which shows current progress).
How long after completing The Last Pilgrimage of Esquibeth does it unlock my feets? I was sorta hoping it would be instantaneous but it's still saying I didn't do it on the site and my quoins aren't quounting in the game. I've been slamming refresh and blowing on this conch for darn near 15 fifteen minutes now.
fizz: it should work right away, but it can take a few minutes for contributions to show up on the feat page. Submit a help ticket if it doesn't show up after about five minutes. We're investigating a couple of related cases now.
Jeasilver: You always get a QQ when you first a street for the first time, without any limits (so, people who visit 200 streets for the first time and are on the ball will get 200).
Niq - it's already been stated that there will be future Feats that are weighted in favor of older players. This one's for the newbies (and agoraphobes who haven't done any exploring). This is only one Feat of many. It'll balance out.
Ok thanks Stoot. Nice for the new players, it will be fun feat to get them out and exploring the streets. Can't wait for next day to roll in. Woo hoo!
Its all fun:). I haven't seen so many players out on Ur streets in a long time.
I'm assuming that you have to have the conch on you to do the feat, that simply completing the quest isn't enough. I wasn't notified about participating and have gotten 5 already. I hope you're right muncey.
this feat is starting to depress me too. I missed the last one and the first only got a little bit in. was looking forward to this one until I heard about the cap and now I can't contribute at all.
the cap on how many QQ's you get a day. and I just found out about having to actually blow the conch. wish I had known that earlier. woulda saved some grief and standing around.
Ah, yes, at most five qurazies per game day on streets you have already visited, yes. Like Stewart said above: "this particular feat will be much easier for newer players. That's ok! Others will be much easier for older players."
I can't resist offering a little thought experiment of sorts.
There are those, in real life, who like putting up a world map on one of their walls and marking places around the world they've traveled to by pushing in a pin. Suppose now one of these people gets offered a small amount of currency and unlimited airline tickets to visit as many airports around the world in as short a time as possible as they can. Greater rewards are hinted at, but only for beating everybody else doing the same thing. It's a perfect storm of temptation, hitting multiple weak spots at once: the tangible reward, the technical challenge of it, the thirst to explore, the lure of outdoing the other players...
The person accepts and goes on a whirlwind tour of the world's airports, great and small. The pins pile up and pretty soon the old world map on the wall begins to look like a pincushion. It's fun but, after a while, airports and competition and prizes start to become a little tiring and maybe even a little bit tedious and eventually she decides that a lot of what she really liked about the map in the first place was the meaning imbued in it by virtue of its association with the pure joy of exploring the world, and dreaming about exploring it, in the old way she used to. So she decides to dump all of the new, comparatively meaningless pins and go back to they way things used to be.
Meh, I'm an oldbie, but that meant I had burnout from the game, which meant I hadn't fully explored any of the areas released since Foxes. I'm on the leaderboards right now, though just in the names section, not the pictures. I have a few more streets left, but I'm stuck playing on a burning hot laptop because we don't have Glitchable computers any more, so I'm not going to them any more since I am out of TPs.
It's too bad for completists, but there will be other things you can do next time. For now, many nice new newbies will get some very valuable items.
Edit: I actually wanted to do this feat on my pre-existing alt, because clearly I could have done much better with my less experienced account. But I hadn't done the quest that gets you the ability to do the quest you need to do to do the feat! (lol)
It's not cheating to do that, guys. We're allowed Alts. You would just need to keep any profits you made from the feat within that account and not trade them over :)
E D D I E & Electric Wizard: Well, someone could definitely make an alt in an effort to get to the top of the leaderboards and then give their rewards to their main account … but, we'd delete that alt account and any ill-gotten gains so it'd be several hours wasted :)
Aurora Dellaterra & Biohazard: Yeah, I think the right way to think about it is this: every feat will be "unfair", but they'll all be unfair in a different way and there will be many of them. So sometimes you'll have an edge and sometimes someone else will and it all comes out in the wash.
Whilst I missed out on the first two feats too, and can only complete five QQs in this one, I like the change up in feats. This one is a good welcome to new players and with them being able to obtain some of the rare items from this challenge it will even up the economy a little bit more. I also like that the feat itself is catering towards a different subset of players as it makes it more interesting. I also really enjoyed exploring Ur again. It had been 320 days since I had been to a street in Salatu lol
I also like that you have addressed the problems of the first two feats by having it run for twenty-four hours and have added the tiers of goals within the feat.
*woke up in a European country, checked Glitch on my phone, discovered a feat was actually active in my timezone, leaped out of bed with excitement, fired up my laptop, discovered I'd only be able to contribute 5 QQs, went back to bed and pulled the covers over my head, whimpering softly*
Booo booo whine whine so unfair, why does it last only through the weekend, why no consideration for people who work on weekends, we're important too, wah, waaaah.
:P:P JUST KIDDING! Glad to see more Feats rolling out, even if I won't be able to play much at all since, yes, I work on the weekend. ;) And I've explored most of the world already anyway, so I might have gotten, what, ten, twenty qqs max, and that with having to walk and walk and waaaalk.
By the way, the feat page says I contributed 6 QQs. I definitely got two in when the feat rolled out early yesterday, so maybe those counted, but the rest were from an Upgrade Card, I remember because I was trying to see if they counted, and thus they shouldn't count. Bug?
Pros I can see, after experiencing the conch-playing feat:
+ easier for Nekkid Newbies and harder for Pro Players in a non-contrived, game-natural way
+ encourages exploration
+ IMG from QQs is its own reward (if we get to keep it?)
+ lots of extra badges can be gotten while working on the feat
+ not likely to create lag and mass assembly of Glitchen in one place (HUGE PRO)
+ not a Clickfest!!!
Cons:
- ...actually I can't see any from out here, so I'll let the people who get time to participate sort those out.
This is the first feat that I am taking part in, the others I missed cause of a glitch break.
I love it, I love that TS listened and made it last longer.
I love that TS made glitchens run around in Ur again.
I love it although I can only contribute 5 QQ per game day.
I feel kinda sad that so many glitchens feel left out, because of that, and kinda look at a feat in kinda of a selfish way. Like: what can I get out of it.
Aren't feats to be for the world of Ur, not for yourself?
I don't care that it's only gonna be like 5 or 10 QQ that I can contribute. I am just happy that I can contribute.
