  • Good article! There is a lot more going on than what you said. Tiny Speck is encouraging other developers to to build off of their framework with their API. They've been developing Software Developer Kits (SDK) for several platforms and actively promoting them. It will be a while yet before there is any significant applications developed but the signs are encouraging. Check the forums, but the this one and the Developers' forum regularly about this.

Nice article btw. I found Glitch through one of your earlier Massively articles.

  • I'll admit I knew nothing about Glitch until I read a Beau Hindman Massively article gushing about it.  I was totally skeptical about the concept and about how good a browser-based sandbox game could be.  I am happy to say my skepticism was unfounded and I just cannot stop playing this darn game.  Even now I'm getting the jitters while this short downtime is preventing me from logging back in.

  • Great article, Beau!! I think you've really captured the special attraction of Glitch. Not everybody's cup of bubble tea, but there is a strong connection between player and Glitch-self that doesn't exist in other games.

  • oh my Giants! good read and you perfectly summed up the opinions of some of those folks who insist on throwing Glitch in with Farmville et al without having bothered to actually try it out. Some of them will never get it but hopefully more will at least give it a chance if they read your inviting recap. Well done!

  • Way to go, Beau!

I love that most of the comments are "I don't get it" or "It's cute but there's not point". It's encouraging to know that the people here in Glitch want to be in Glitch because they get it.

It's the same feeling as finding an awesome, underground band or a weird indie flick that you can relate to; the emotion of belonging to an invisible club.

Glitch is one of those pieces of media that help ratify our character, why we like what we like, where people collectively connect with a piece of art that "gets them".

Hope that made some sense, I'm kind of sleepy.

  • It does make sense, Ship. :) It is art. Didn't think of it like as collective art experiment, but that's a cool way to consider it.

  • I just spent an hour watching you play instead of playing!

You live in my area =D fun to see people that I know show up in your vid.

I don't know what it is or how I got it, but I got it bad.
