Emotes for Glitch Avatars

It would be neat to have ways to show emotions through our Glitch avatars.  We already have ones that show laughter and displeasure, but it's cumbersome because you have to type the emoticon in the dialogue box.  Perhaps we can have a little box to the side that shows buttons for various emotes that you can easily click on, and then your Glitch can perform it.  Some suggestions for emotes are:
1)  Dance  (maybe there can be different kinds of dances, like the twist, ballet leap, etc.)
2)  Cry
3)  Clap
4)  Cheer
5)  Wave
6)  Shrugging
7)  Face Palm

Okay, peoples, put your ideas for emotes or other comments below.  Thanks!

  • These are brilliant.

I was also thinking maybe a high five. And a poke.

  • First thing that popped into my mind when I read #7 was that your Glitch's face suddenly turns into a palm. Very Glitchy, yes?

  • You can use your keyboard numbers already for a few emotions:

    1: Surprise
    2. Anger
    3. Laughter
    4. AFK/Sleeping

No typing in the chat box required!

  • For a game that thrives on being sociable, Glitch needs more emotes!

  • I would love to dance!

Edit: I think Glitchen should dance like this.

  • If not an "emote" for dancing, then maybe a dancing skill we could learn.

  • The avatar really needs choice number one to be a nice bright smile.

  • I said this in another thread, but I'll repeat it here:

I think that the devs have tried to keep the number of separate images they need to build your avatar in-game as low as possible, so that the game runs as smoothly as possible with as litle lag as possible.  Every new expression or animations adds new images that must be loaded with your avatar and everyone else's when they are on a street with you.  So although I love this idea, along with others, I do doubt that it will be implemented any time soon.

See this blog post for the details.

What we do have room for a lot more of are actions like "Soak" which have no animation associated with them but do throw up a growl in the local chat for the recipient.

  • Maybe when the time comes that they come up with an excellent solution to render image animations without slowing the whole game down, then they can implement the additional emotes.

But for the time being, I'm giving this idea a +1 because I think the game needs to give their avatars more choices in (facially) expressing themselves.

  • I think it would be infinitely easier if the emote was simply a stick figure or the like acting out the emoticon above your glitches head.

  • I think something like the activity though bubbles we have would even be a good expansion, though that may be getting a little too TheSims like.

Though I would prefer emotes to animate the way the current ones do, howabout plugging them into the emobear. It is already a swiss army knife of interactions.

I will be satisfied with just a wave.

What I want is a simple smile, something short of the current laugh.
