Does it seem like it's taking longer to mine with Mining 4?

It does to me, but maybe I'm imaging it?

Edit to add: not imagining it, needed the mining maniac cards, which I have now after a couple of days of shuffling and buying cards. It's all better now.

  • I have Manic Mining III and Mining IV and I am still stuck at 8 seconds per mine. I also have the gem drop upgrade that is supposed to give me 8% gem rate, I don't believe I've seen a gem either.

EDIT: and right after I made this post, I went from mining one time at 8 seconds, then suddenly getting it at 4. Ninja fixed? :o

  • I am 100% loathing mining now. I went through the trouble to get Mining IV way back when (30 friggin days just to get it!) and now there's absolutely no goddamn benefit to having it. Definitely feeling hamstrung. >_<

"Blah blah it's just a game. It's beta. Blah blah. And other comments that completely miss the point."

I DON'T CARE! This is one aspect of this whole change that I think sucks. I'm going to say that. Now that I have I'll go back to trying to make it not suck again somehow. I've said my piece and now I'm done. Thank you for the venting space. *bamf*

  • It won't suck once you get the mining upgrades that you were given imagination to buy cos you have the mining skills
Posted 7 months ago by shhexy corin Subscriber! | Permalink
  • That's great and all except for the fact that even after spending nearly 1.5 million imagination on upgrades (some just to get them off the screen to see what else I can manage to get) the mining upgrades WON'T friggin come up! *HEADDESK*

  • Faux, have you seen the mining upgrades that give more gems when you mine, or a higher percentage yield from one particular rock, or a possibility that huuuuge rock will respawn if you clear one? Those are the mining upgrades I have seen.

  • I'm with fauxfire on this. I like the changes overall, but to have grinded through Mining IV and then have to wait for the upgrades to "appear" is pretty annoying. I played yesterday for about two and one-half hours and today for almost three. No mining upgrades yet and nothing to get gems.  It is annoying.

  • it 's still 8 sc / mine...
has it changed? before it used to be 4 sc....

  • what a crazy mechanic.  feels like a card game mashed with an rpg that was inspired by a card game.  Love it.

  • I'm confused and there were too many posts already; can someone sum up for me?  So am I to understand that the tedious things that made me dislike the game and barely play for a while while learning the skill tree are now back regardless of skill level, but random chance may or may not reduce the tedium?  Huh?
Posted 7 months ago by Tomorrow's Man Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Tomorrow's Man

In a nutshell: yes. However, if the cards come up for you, that "random chance" isn't horrible. I got most of the mining cards after my first shuffle and first few upgrades.  A lot of the useful upgrades that reduce the tedium are pretty cheap, especially if you have a decent store of iMG.

  • My first impression after the new reset? "So all the skills and things I worked toward aren't worth anything now."  Most acutely noticed are the mining changes.

It just seems to me that TS is pushing out the casual gamer out of Glitch. Sad.

I work at a law firm and have many other demands on my time, yet up until now Glitch was a refuge where I could spend a few hours noodling around doing various tasks....and one of the things I liked doing most was mining. Now it feels like the time spent learning Mining IV was time wasted as it now takes twice as long to mine. So spending IP now is the (random) way to improve? Nah. I'll find something else to spend my time and (real life) money on.

I hope this is just a transitionary period while the bugs get fettered out.

Back OT: yes, I'm having the same problem.

  • I am adding my vote to  "why bother to learn skills if all you really need is the update cards" and also quitting the EHSP selling business.  After spending a little time in the caves during the last couple of days, I can report there is now BS everywhere - at least the guano business is picking up. Points I agree on in this & other threads: mining is about right to keep a 6 year old entertained, making it take longer to perform any task or reducing the rewards for doing it doesn't make the game more challenging, and Glitch has to compete with other games as well as real life demands.  One thing I definitely do NOT agree with is the value of making a special point to log on every 4 hours whether convenient or not, just to get a re-deal in order to get the cards needed to get back to where I was.  I was hoping that the new content in a game for adults would require more than just stamina.

  • I quit mining, sad realy, it was my favorite passtime.

  • It took 3/4s of my imagination, but I finally got all 3 maniac cards (and a bunch of other awesome cards that are really helpful and that I would need anyways). Mining down to 4 secs and I am content.
Posted 7 months ago by Tibbi Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I bought all that once before with many many many hours of my time. No desire to spend all of my hard earned imagination on top of all that to get back what was already earned.

  • What you bought with hours of your time was partially converted to the imagination that was credited to you because you had the mining skills.  That is, you have imagination right now, that you wouldn't have had otherwise, because of those many hours of your time that went into learning the skill.  With that imagination you have the choice to regain those benefits, and you gain access to new benefits like 15% bonuses and respawning huge rocks.

You just have the choice now to spend it on something else if you want to.

  • You can still piddle around and play casually. Things certainly are not pushing the casual gamer out. Just get the upgrades for some of the other things you like to piddle around doing when they come up, and you'll get the upgrades for other things to come up through time. There's no need to log in every game day; that was just a suggestion by someone that finds it worthwhile to do so. There are plenty of upgrades to play around with while you wait for the ones you really want.

  • @ Li'll Missy You're supposed to be spending the big chunk of iMG you got in order to get your skills back to your liking.  That's why we got so much of it all at once, so we could turn around and upgrade quickly.  Trying to hoard iMG is a mistake.  Buy lots of upgrades and you'll be really pleased with how things are working now.

Some people are luckier than others with the mining cards but you'll draw them soon enough. I  got all three of mine, plus the gems and a new skill that gives a chance for a huge rock to spawn when I mine one down and mining feels fine again.

  • i feel like im getting every card possible except the mining cards =[ sooooo slow
Posted 7 months ago by spiffyllama Subscriber! | Permalink
  • This is very disappointing.  It took over a month to get the mining upgrades and now that is essentially useless.  Now we have to do everything again with these stupid cards that I don't even want to look at.  Unfortunately it seems I am now being forced to look at them just to be able to play the game even closely to how it used to be.  Apparently this goes for teleportation and a variety of other things as well.  Also these cards are completely random and I have no way of working towards achieving a goal of what I had before.

This is not cool guys, not cool at all. :( :( :(

  • Aww this thread almost autolocked. So close. . .
now for the generic "blah blah blah quit whining we're in beta, that means dramatic changes. If you dont like it leave" response.
    -_-
Also the cards have zero to do with teleporting. For the record.
Don't get upset about stuff you dont understand the mechanics behind.
