Credits to spend or save?

I'm having the hardest time to spend or not spend my credits.  We know the game is going live in 5 or 6 weeks and I'm sure hoping brand new items will pop up for us to buy.  But will it be things for our homes or just clothes or something else entirely.  I really want to stay on a budget and not go on a spending spree, but there are some really cute new outfits.  But what if after reset there are things like furniture or accessories even make up?   What are your thoughts?

  • I would save them. I'm the sort of person who waits to see all her options before choosing something :p Also, the more recent new clothes will still be there, probably - even when all the super new stuff comes out. Then you could choose as a more informed(?) buyer :)

  • You get whatever credits you've bought in beta back, so go ahead and spend them if you purchased them! (I.E. You bought 500 credits, you'll get 500 again at launch.) It's on the page where you buy them:

"To thank you for making Glitch better, whatever you purchase during beta testing will be doubled when we launch. It's like a 2 for 1 sale: on launch day, we'll automatically deliver a matching number of credits into your account for every purchase you make now."

If you're talking about the credits you get for your subscription on a monthly basis (or the 100 you got when you signed up), you may want to save them. Or maybe compromise and buy yourself one nice little outfit that isn't too costly (or a new hat or something) and save the majority.

I personally just buy a couple of things here and there when I have credits to spend, though I did just buy a small credit pack so I could get this new outfit I put together for the next test.

Edited to correct myself on the example. :)

  • Little Miss Giggles, re " I.E. You bought 500 credits, you'll get 1000 at launch." — this is not correct. You get 500 at launch (for a total of 1,000) … it's 2 for 1, not 3 for 1 :)

  • I'd like to know what's coming too. If we're getting furniture, I'll wait. I may later decide that I'd rather have some new outfits, but I'd like to see what all the options are before spending. A lot of the clothes do tempt me though (:

  • 1. (i will keep repeating this but...) AT LEAST 5 to 6 weeks away. At least.
    2. And of course it is different if your credits are coming via subscription vs. crdit packs.
    3. If you are in doubt, hold off. The things to buy now (clothes) aren't going away.
    4. House improvements are listed as one of the first things to get going AFTER launch. But how far after launch I imagine is up in the air. TS will most likely have their hands quite full after launch for a bit ironing out issue (there always are).
4a. Actually, now I'm not sure why this would spending credits now or not.

  • I have an inability to save my credits.
So many nice clothing items, the second I notice I have subscription credits, I hit the wardrobe. Even that's not enough though, I've had to buy credits 5 times already, on top of my subscription. The artists who design the clothing are just too good.

I'm seeing all the credits I spend now as free ones, since I'll be getting them back at launch, so I can't really not spend when it's free can I?
Least that's how I justify it to myself lol

  • I forgot about getting credits returned after launch and credits are credits right?  Or are subscription credits not equal to credit packets?  Credits bought, stand alone compared to credits received with subscription?  If all credits are equal than we will all be awash in credits with the reset and I for one will have to upgrade from the middle subscription to the top subscription a.s.a.p. as there is only a $35 dollar difference for the year.  Which is $3 a month.

Silly me I should have thought about this a month ago.  I won't even open my door for the avon lady I have so little sales resistence (we really need spell check here in forum) if someone had pointed the credit hook, buy now and repeat after reset, I wouldn't have had so many subscription misgivings.

  • I am also terrible at saving, and I went on a shopping spree ages ago that nearly depleted my credits, and since then have been better about not buying clothes because I really don't want to have to buy more credits. HOWEVER, another weakness has sprung up in the past few tests and I find myself buying TP tokens whenever I run out of my 5 for the day or don't want to use energy.

  • Julie, I don't think the monthly credit stipend from subscriptions will doubled after launch, only the stand-alone credit purchases. Subscriptions are already 50% off and don't actually start running down until launch so that's already a fabulous deal.

  • Oh darn, well that popped my little balloon for going on a spending spree, thanks for the info Mary.  Why do we get the credits now then?  So no rush to upgrade then, sigh.  So lets do lunch sometime MLL, my treat.  :)

  • Have you purchased a sub yet? If you havent and do plan to, you should get it now because you start getting credits and tokens right away but the clock on the year does not start until we go live. If you're only planning on buying the credit packs, buy as many of those as you can justify before we go live because however many you get now, you will also get the equal number of again when we go live. Buy 500 now, get 500 later. Buy 1500 now, get 1500 later.

  • I was thinking about this as I got my subscription credit pack yesterday.

So far I spend very little on clothing, a dress here and there. And frankly, I'm still super satisfied with my 'fro and day of the dead headband. The rest of the outfit is just kind of gravy. (I'm ingrid. That glitch with the bitchin' fro. In real life, I have very lank hair. HAH!)

I am topping off my token supply with each stipend while in beta. Mostly because I've been trying to hoard those when it's not so necessary. Just silliness. So, I end up with a few credits on wardrobe, 100 to get 50 tele tokens, and then 200 or so stockpiled.

I think I am overthinking this.
