I'll be trying to avoid any spending until I can afford a big bag or two. My biggest problem when I first started out playing was running out of inventory room. This time round, until I have somewhere to put it all, I'll hold off on buying stuff as much as I can.
not sure if it will appear before the party or not. obviously if I get that quest first, I won't have to buy one. but IIRC they are only 300. fairly cheap anyway, since I was leaving drunk ones everywhere at the end
I think you get a watering can and a hoe out of the tutorial (along with a number of other items)...yes, there is a quest for the emo bear pretty early on.
I'll be looking for that fancy pick and a couple of small bags (20 slots are better than 16 early on), but obviously only after I get some currents through leveling or quests...
Per the OP's quests question...the wiki has what you get for each quest. Most of the quests you get will be determined by the skills you learn, so the order you get quests will be different for everyone since folks will learn skills in different orders.
Probably a Fancy Pick and a few bags... it'd be easier for me to keep up energy if I can get a little cash under my belt early on to buy food. Did okay the first time, but that's just cuz I nibbled the crap outta pigs (and didn't have much energy for many other things for awhile).
It was going to be a watering can until I read that we get that and a hoe in the Tutorial. It has been so long since I started (5 months) that I didn't have a clue what we'd have when we started. I guess I'll put off starting to learn a skill until my Rock gives me that quest. 1000 currants! WOOT!! I was going to buy a bigger bag but I see that there's an ENLARGE YER INVENTORY quest that called for a generic bag. At that time (March, 2011) the bigger bag didn't count for fulfilling this quest.
Thanks b3achy
btw -- thanks for the drunken emo bears bored! I laughed until I had tears rolling down my face!
does anyone know if bigger bags now work for the "enlarge your slots" quest? I was looking over the wiki and it said someone tried a few months ago and they were thinking about changing it so that the bigger ones worked.
I might buy a regular bag first assuming I don't have the patience to earn the money for a bigger bag. At least, I think that's the first thing I bought in game. :P After that... whatever the quests demand I get. :P We'll see how long it takes for me to get my first home or if I decide to be more nomadic for awhile. Not sure. Given how much junk I had strewn around my home... :P
Thanks for posting that Kookaburra - I was thinking you came out of the tutorial with around 1000 currants, but for the life of me couldn't remember how it worked. The nice thing is you also get quite a few other items too, but I don't want to spoil it for those that haven't done the tutorial in a while... ;)
ETA: And it seems to me that you get 500 currants for that buy a bag quest...so...even though you might spend 900 currants it's really only like 400 after the reward - so you still have money to purchase other things.
