Question about subscriptions...

So as I understand from the subscription page, if we purchase now, we'll start receiving the benefits of our subscription now (during beta) though, officially, our subscription countdowns won't start until the game actually launches.

My question is, then, if I purchase Copper or Molybdenum now, would I be getting the 150/400 Credits (respectively) each month during beta? If so, if I use those credits to purchase stuff for my wardrobe/vanity, considering we'll be keeping those things when game launches though everything else will be rest, would we also be able to keep the things purchased with our "extra" credits on "subscription free time"? Haha.

  • Were my questions too hard to understand? Let me break it down further:

    1) If we PURCHASE subscriptions RIGHT NOW, will the credit allowances (for each month) kick in right away? Will we get those credits while in beta?

    2) If we buy stuff with those credits during beta, we'll still keep them after the reset, right? Will our credits be reset, too?

  • I bought a subscription, and got my first stipend of credits right away.  I don't think we'll get any more credits until beta's over.

To the best of my knowledge, credits will not reset after beta.

  • Cerulean: (1) You get those stipends starting as soon as your subscription starts. And you get them every month (so you will get at least one and probably two more during beta). And (2) you can keep everything you buy. So, the longer it takes us to finish beta, the more "extra" you get since you still get a full year once beta is over.

  • Yay, good to know; thanks! I'll have to figure out which subscription I want ASAP then!

  • One question to add to this... what are the voting tokens for??

  • I assume in the future the devs will put issues up for Glitchies to vote on. They said the system is implemented yet, but I really like the concept of formalized feedback from the player base.

A huge +1 to the devs for that.

  • I do not believe this has been addressed if it has sorry........... I subscribed for 1 year on June 01, 2011 ... in my account it says my subscription ends on June 2, 2012......... I was under the impression we get the benefits immediately but our "starting" date, therefore our expiry date, only begin once the game goes public..........
    please clarify. Thank You, Merci

  • That is correct PEKES. For now,..the dates are mentioned to clarify how the subscription works, but when live, the dates will change according to the date gone live.

  • Yes, PEKES, if you look at your subscription history here — http://beta.glitch.com/account/subscription/ — there is a big blue box that says all the currently scheduled dates and explains that it will be reset after launch.

  • For some reason, I don't have that big blue box :\
Does it only appear if you've already subscribed? (I haven't.)

  • Yes, because if you don't have a subscription, there's not a lot we can say about when it expires :)

  • I see, thanks! :)

  • Sorry if it has been already asked but I want some clarification about the subscriptions:

I have a Tin subscription right now. If I want to upgrade to Copper I have to pay additional $24 during beta, but for some reason I won't do it. Let's say that 3 months after the official release I decide to upgrade to Copper. How much do I pay then?

And second question: I saw this screenshot: bit.ly/lxNv4C I would like to know if this "-$10 discount for you'' is still available.
    Thank you for your answers.

  • If you wanted to upgrade to Copper 3 months after launch then you would pay a pro-rated amount of the $24 (so in this case, since there are only 9 months left, you'd pay $18). At some point the amounts will get small and we'll turn off the upgrade-ability (we haven't decided when yet) but you will have at least six months after launch.

Second answer! The discount was for people who:
    • bought credits before we had announced subscriptions or made them available, AND
    • went on to buy either Copper or Molybdenum subscriptions

The discount was 40% of whatever they paid for the credits, up to a maximum of $20. And the rationale was: some people really wanted subscriptions (or *would have* wanted them, if they knew about them). But since all we had for sale was credits, they bought credits (many because they wanted to support us/the game). So, it seemed fair to give them a break on subscriptions since they might not have bought the credits if both were available.

If you're eligible for the discount, it will show up automatically on the subscription purchase page.

  • Thanks now I am really confused, again. sigh.

Should I have bought a higher subscription instead of credit or I get credit for buying credits because I bought the lower subscription since I already had paid for credits.

Wow that confused me even further

    Let me try this again

If I buy a higher subscription I get credit for buying credits earlier towards a better subscrption?

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you! Big, big hugs for the dedicated page o billing questions!

  • xoxJulie: the discount was *only* available to people who bought credits *before* subscriptions were available and *only* if they later bought a subscription tier which included credits. If the discount was available to you, it would have shown up on the purchase page (as in the screenshot).

  • Travinara: you're welcome. And, feel free to suggest things (in general) which should be in the (new) FAQ.
Posted 18 months ago by stoot barfield Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Hehehehe... lotsa suggestions in the FAQ Group... 3 pages worth! The only topic I didn't want to get into in there was the billing, since that's a Very TS thing!
