Planted by: shows on a Tree's "Info"

It would be nice to be able to find out who planted - or poisoned - a given Tree.

A lot of the conflicts that happen currently in Global could instead be taken up with the specific Glitchen involved.  And serial poisoners would become pretty obvious.

Be well,

i think this would create unnecessary drama and use memory on the servers that could be used for cooler things.
poisoning trees and planting new ones is part of the game — if people do it in the "wrong" places or the "wrong" times then that is still within the rules of the game and it is not up to you to tell them they are wrong.

  • Until recently, the ability to steal things from peoples' front yards was part of the game.

Tree Wars have been making things difficult for a lot of Glitchens recently, not least due to all the useless minitrees throughout the map in the aftermath.

The ability to address specifically those who are consistently poisoning trees would, by definition, reduce the strife.  It would make it obvious who was doing serial poisoning, as opposed to those who were poisoning and planting as part of the game.  Degriefing is self-evidently good for the game.

The ability to "address specifically" those who are poisoning trees is basically a open door to stalking and harassing via IM. And that idea SUCKS.

This is basically painting a target on people whose actions you don't like. I don't like it when people leave rocks half-mined, but damned if I'm going to ask for a way to track them down and bitch them out, because they don't deserve that kind of treatment just for playing a game.

  • Can o' Worms, GET!  =)

The difference is that if someone is stalking and harassing, you'll know who's doing it and they can be held accountable for their behavior.

As things are now, serial poisoners get away with it scot-free because we can't.

I'm happy to let TS decide for themselves whether that's what they want Glitch to be like, but until we know that, I'll share Ideas to proffer some alternative options for them.

  • You're making the mistake of assuming that because you don't like it, it's bad behaviour. Evidently, the existence of  tree poison itself is proof enough that this is intended behaviour.

But that's semantics. The real issue with this suggestion is that it only outs serial replanters, a benign action, and not the sort of people who'd poison trees and not replace them.
