Piggies starving

It would appear from limited testing that piggies do not feed from trees on our new housing streets, meaning that unless you feed them they die faster :( When I had a meadows house this was not the case and I was hoping we could keep piggies on our home streets if we had trees (other than wood planted) Also garden piggies dont eat dropped food or feed from the trees, it maybe just that the streets and gardens are new and so not functioning fully but thought it was worth reporting in case.

One other thought could it be tied in with the new sticks? Are the piggies just so happy they forget to eat?

ETA: Ok I tried with a crop rather than with grain and the piggies ate the dropped food, doesnt explain why they are not eating dropped grains or why they are not eating from trees.

  • My piggy eats grain that I drop on my street. And he has fed from the gas tree when I harvest. I do have a pig stick, too.

  • Mine seem to be eating from trees. Either that or they're living on air

  • My home street piggies nom on the Spice trees when I harvest and I haven't had any of them opt for "early retirement".  Same for the back yard pigs with a Bubble tree.

  • I have 4 pigs on my home street and have never hand fed them. They do nibble when I pet or harvest trees and I imagine they jump up in the bean tree and eat when I am not home.

  • I've seen piggies nom on trees on player streets. My own street has wood trees, but I've also seen the piggies in my personal yard nom on my gas plant there. When I dropped grain in my yard before I knew they could feed on gas trees though, they didn't eat any of those for some reason.

  • Lately pigs don't even want to eat from my egg tree until I water it, and when I do water it they all rush like crazy and lag my browser like hell.

  • My pigs on my street will only eat from the spice trees if they are harvested, watered or pet. They will not eat on their own. They also dont seem to like grain anymore.  I have to leave crops on the ground for them or they starve. What is wrong with them?

BTW, once I catch them starving, feeding wont save them. I have to actually drop food on the ground!

  • I've noticed this too.  I dropped a pile of beans in my yard after realizing they wouldn't eat from my trees (except when I was harvesting them).  They each ate one bean immediately after I drooped them, and then haven't touched the beans since :\

  • I've noticed this over the last few days.  Today I tried to nibble two piggies on a mound with a bean tree that looked fully loaded with beans but was not able to.  As soon as I watered and petted the tree the pigs started eating.  Is this new behavior or a bug?

  • I am now noticing this throughout the entire world. The piggies will not eat from the trees unless we harvest/water/pet them. Why ???

  • Innie--it seems to have been like that for quite a while now. I really noticed it about 6 weeks ago when I was doing regular tree-harvesting runs, though it may have been going on longer than that, even. I assumed it was a way of encouraging us to interact with the world more, but maybe I'm off-base. It's definitely meant that I always pet and water trees now if there are piggies nearby, even if I don't need to harvest.
