Make Toolboxes worth the money?

So please forgive me if my tool count is wrong here.  But we have several specialized containers.  The spice rack has room for all 16 types of spices, the element pouch contains spaces for all the elements, fine and dandy.

But then you have the Toolbox, which contains tools.  And it costs 501 currents more than 16 slot bag and holds the same amount of stuff.  But by my count, we have 25 tools in the game that players would reasonably want to carry around at all times (excluding fancy versions):

Hoe, Watering Can, Hatchet, Bean Seasoner, Bubble Tuner, Fruit Changing Machine, Spice Mill, Gassifier, Knife and Board, Blender, Frying Pan, Saucepan, Cocktail Shaker, The-Boxer-Formerly-Known-As-Mike-Tyson-Grill, Awesome Pot, Pick, Grinder, Scraper, Shovel, Alchemical Tongs, Test Tube, Tinkertool, Smelter, Beaker and Meditation Orb.

Now, not all of us are going to be in every profession at every time and a 25 slot box would be far too big to even fit on the screen.  But given the toolboxes' higher price and the restriction that it can only carry tools, it would be nice for it to be say, a 20 slot box instead.  That would be enough for most of us to not have to worry about getting to the next street project with bags full of resources then realize the one thing you needed was that scraper you left in your closet at home...

  • Spice rack doesn't have space for every spice, garlic is a spice too.

  • I LOLed at The-Boxer-Formerly-Known-As-Mike-Tyson-Grill :-)

I think people are on the fence about toolboxes: some love 'em, some don't see the point.

Personally, I love 'em and carry two around with me everywhere. For me, 16 specialized slots for 2500 is totally worth the money because it helps me keep my tools separate from everything else... much easier to find things that way.

But there's lots of people who don't see the point of the extra expense. And to those people I'd say keep buying bigger bags. You've got a good idea though... with the introduction of souped-up tools that perform the same function as cheaper tools but with bells on (not literal bells), maybe there's an opportunity for something like a 20-slot, 3500-currant, not-available-in-any-shops, Tinkering-5, auctions-only toolbox?

[Oh - and your Bear will go in the toolbox too... just be careful not to get grease on him]

  • Focusing Orb, Butterfly Lotion (I think) and Random Kindness (I think) can go in Toolboxen.

  • You forgot the all important Focusing Orb as Lorelei has mentioned. Yes, Random Kindness counts as a tool as does the Emotional Bear.

I love my toolboxes, they are the first two containers in my inventory.

By my count two toolboxes can contain all the tools you will need and still have some room for Random Kindness and a spare Focusing Orb.

  • Bog dwellers know that Firefly jars also fit in the toolbox.  I keep two toolboxes, and I have enough stuff to almost fill three.  Once you get to a certain point financially in the game, the extra 500c is not a big deal.

  • Toolboxes are already worth the money because the icon is different. Don't use it if you don't want to use it.

  • If anything Toolboxes should have equal value to big bags. They have the pro of having a different icon, making it easier to find your tools, but it has the con of being limited to a certain type of item.

  • I use 2 tool boxes of different color - red for cooking tools and grey for everything else.
makes it a lot easier to find them when you need to and it makes it more likely that you won't set down your bag of tools.
It also makes it easier when you're out collecting because nothing else can go in there so you never have to go searching for a rouge pile of spice.
