altruism points

This idea is related to the social aspect of the game. What if you got points for doing helpful things for others. If I plant a tree in my back yard, it's only for my own use, but if I plant trees in the streets, it helps everybody so I'd get a few altruism points. If I breed piggies in my back yard, it's jut for me, if I release them in the world + altruism points. If I give valuable items to a low level player to help them get started + altruism points. These points would be just for doing things that don't help you. So you'd only get them for cooperating in a group quest where you don't get any xp or other things from that quest yourself. You'd get different achievements and titles based on your level of altruism. So if you get x number of altruism points you'd get the title "helpful" in front of your name, later you'd get the title "kind", "generous", etc..

  • oh! i like this idea.
i know you didn't elaborate on it much but i really like the idea of group quests, that could also improve the social aspect .

  • I think group quests are being worked on by the developers as we speak. In terms of altruism points though, I suppose any quest could become a cooperative quest. Let's say a person is having a hard time finishing the rainbow run in time. They could ask somebody to help them collect those coins and then that person would get altruism points for helping.

  • O.O
This is such a good idea. It would totally help with the tree problem. You already get XP for doing so...but perhaps you only got XP for taking care of the trees and such in public places - whereas in private, you get the mood boosts.

  • This is actually pretty neat. I did notice that there might be /some/ mechanism in place to start this up (I'd start getting hooch and ginger when I'd pet and water a few trees instead of harvesting them), but it could be expanded to something like your idea.
