Has anyone actually tried to make the awesome pot recipes in real life?

They are disgusting.  The beer in the chilly busting chilli sounds great in theory, but I reckon you'd have to drink a few more before eating just to dull your taste buds.

And 30 beans don't go very far.

If you click on the "continue reading" for a recipe, it even includes photos of the dish made in real life :)

  • no, thirty beans won't go very far but actually if you do it properly, beer is pretty good in chili- it just has to stew down some and you only use one can for a whole big pot. A stout is preferable, in my experience. Light beer just doesn't have enough body to do much good....

  • I make a mean chilli (even if I say so myself), so perhaps it's time to feature that in the cookbook. Perhaps that should be my task for next weekend...

Anyway, in the meantime, you've spurred me back into action and I'm writing up a new post this evening. This one should be interesting!

  • Hopefully, you won't be disappointed :-) In the meantime, here's a bit of shameless self-promotion...

If you want to read about my more general food-related meanderings, I also have another, very new and shiny food blog featuring non-Glitch-specific foodstuffs over here. There may be a little cross-over between the two blogs, and certain posts in each may influence the other, but I'm sure it will all work out good in the end.

  • You know, I never cook rice with salt... I cook it with Pandan, but I suppose cooking it with salt is worth a shot.
