TS,
Thanks for the sparkly feat. It's wonderful! Ajaya and Neva are full of miners! We're an hour 20 minutes in, and already nearing the end of the first goal. This is a good feat. Fern is happy.

In description of feat it says: participants share [...] favor with (and then nothing).
News Flash: After this feat there will be a new Giant imagined! Wicked.
OMGiants Unbelievable.
Maybe it is Sparkla?

It says now Zille, maybe I read to much into it. (nvm)
Go Feat!$!. I am mining like crazy ;D
I like this feat better than any that have come before it :) However, while I do think I see the logic behind making it so the sparkly must be donated (Avoids a sudden over-saturation of sparkly in the world) I think there's an annoying element of there being no catch for how the sparkly is obtained.
Thus the feat becomes a contest of many variables. There are folks with giant hoards of sparkly (I donated 6k myself out of an SDB) and folks with giant hoards of money (I did buy a few hundred sparkly to donate that I deemed reasonably priced) and while I am a person with mounds of hoarded items and mound of money, I'd prefer the feat be about actions taken while the feat is active.
Perhaps next time 'Mine and Donate X sparkly' might be the better feat? I dunno if that's much more difficult to code, but both would take care of over saturation of sparkly, and rewuiring it be mined during the time of the feat seems somehow better to me :)
I second what Liza said. I had NO sparkly in storage and have been mining for almost three hours straight- not even coming close to anything viable....
I think it would be next to impossible to track the source of the sparkly since there is currently no way to track the source of the sparkly. And then what happens with mixed stacks?
Keep in mind, getting on the leaderboard increases your chances to get a good reward, but it's now totally unnecessary. I got an artifact piece from the QQ feat and I barely tried. I got lucky, but still, over time, even just barely participating in any given feat will pay out. Like buying a cubi box a day every day.
I think this feat, is neat! This is something for everyone, the sociables, the loners, and even the grinders can pitch in. Awesome! Now, if only I could be there at the beginning of a feat... =}
I do like this feat, seemed to be one that all of us could participate in one way or another. To those who had sparkly stored, you still had to mine it in the first place, so I think it's fine that you didn't have to mine "fresh" sparkly to donate it. If you chose to buy it, well there are currants now in the market that wouldn't have been there before. If you are a newish player and haven't yet learned mining maybe you will consider doing so for the future.
I had a large hoard of sparkly at the start of this one, mainly because I kept mining it over the months but could never use it all.
But because this feat started on a Sunday night for me, I will get almost no playing time to work on it due to having a day job. I personally wish they had put THIS feat in front of the last one, since having a grindy feat would have been better on the weekend.
So, yeah, I don't think it is a bad thing that I could use my large store of sparkly, instead of donating only the stuff I could mine in the 4-5 hours of playing time I will get for this feat.
Personally, I see no problem with folks using hoarded stuffs. The game needs large-scale item sinks. In fact, I'd be surprised, if they didn't consider the number of hoarded bits when they came up with the targets we're supposed to hit. It may seem to give an unfair advantage, now, but over time and a few more feats, it'll balance out. Hoards will disappear and some will probably bet on future feats by hoarding away some other goodies. Still, we can all participate.
I'm really liking this one - taking a very casual approach to it all. Mining a bit, partying a bit, getting silly a bit.
I agree with Vera Strange. It's not like those people didn't actually work to hoard those things in one way or another. They either mined it or bought it.
Since we now seem to getting feats a lot more often, I too think things will even out.
Heh, this morning I realized why my name wasn't showing up on the board after dumping my entire hoard of chunks in shrines. I've been away from Glitch for a while and haven't yet done the Esquibeth quest. D'oh! Total forehead-smacker.
1) Sucking down the stashed hoards,
2) Perfect microeconomins, sellers getting great return, and buyers getting ample supply of sparkly at a price they were willing to pay (not necessarily liked, but willing to pay)
Hellyeah and Master Bean are over 100,000 sparkly. *boggle*
I think the item sink aspect is good for the game economy. You get a petrified rock by simply participating so it's not really a big deal to me that some people are dumping in thousands of hoarded sparkly. I've been having fun with this one casually mining Pollokoo. It's like the old days before home streets where you rarely mined sparkly alone.
Hah
I spent thouuuusands of currants buying 14,000 sparklies right when this feat started. Now I'm not even in the "get a better rock than the people who donated one item" section of the leaderboards. I'm more amused than annoyed, thankfully. I probably should have just resold them though. Then I could just...buy the artifact pieces I want.
I hadn't mined in ages, but I mined for two and a half hours last night. I really hate mining, but I love the idea behind this. Now I just have to specialize in harvesting something, and wait for that something's Feat to happen ;)
This is my favorite Feat! Thank you so much! This brought so many people off their Home Streets and filled Ur with cooperative mining. Not only mining though. I saw so many Glitchen all over Ur! I chose to travel around to make my Donations so I saw a good bit or Ur from North to South, east to West. It was like the early times when everyone was out and about. So much Fun and such a Joy! More Feats similar to this Please.
This was my favorite too. It also had a similar situation to the street projects but scales better: hoarders have an advantage, but unlike street projects they don't keep everyone else from participating.
I am so sorry I missed this one. I'm going to be missing a lot of feats if they are always on weekends though, because I'm normally not near a computer on 2 - 3 weekends each month.
And I would have loved the sparkly feat, because I love mining. (I'm addicted to elements. What?)
