Done anything in your Glitch career you look back on that makes you facepalm?
Well, I haven't done much that's stupid, though I only JUST noticed the "shake" button for milk... D:
I felt like an idiot when I tried to do the sno cone quest when I was too low level to buy the purple cone. Stood there in the freezing cold, hemorrhaging energy, pissing all my hard earned money away on outrageously priced colored sno cones. Then I find out I can't buy the final one I need to finish the quest. Had to haul around a bunch of colored ice, representing my life's savings, for the next 2 levels until I could finally complete it.
I was super confused and thought that your donation points went up for every emblem you got with any giant, not per giant, so I have one emblem each of a bunch of giants for the "This favor goes to 11" quest, rather than many emblems of one giant. Oops.
@Issek, you didn't have to eat the sno cones all at once to complete the quest. You could have eaten the ones you had and then came back to buy the pricier one later.
@purpleshinyriv, that's not so bad since you're well on your way to collecting all 11 icons :)
I had the trophy for making all of the spices, but for some reason, not the badge for "examining" all the spices and I couldn't figure out what the last one was. Later, there was a piece of allpsice on the ground and I did it's examine option and got the badge... figures lol.
REALLY wish people wouldn't come into a room with a crapton of people, with food on the ground and TAKE EVERYTHING. That's the rudest thing ever. Imagine going to a rl party and stuffing canapes in your pockets and upending the punchbowl into your craw.
Come ON, people. And some of you aren't even noobs. Shame on you.
Having no discipline and not wanting to wait for longer skills to learn. So I took everything short that I could, resulting in having a lot of skills, but no higher level skills. Worse, by the time I found out that after a certain point skills started taking more and more time, I had already blown up all of the higher skill times by a huge amount.
I then trashed that character and started this one. 60 mins until BL5 finishes. :D
On this character: donating 1000+ sparkly ores under EHSP to get a giant close to the 2500 favor max so I could blow it on speeding a skill up, only to accidentally level up and push it over the edge and get an emblem, losing 1500 favor.
Waaaaay back in my first few weeks of play, I paid no mind to shrines and the ability to speed up skills by donating. I would also occasionally be playing and realize after a while that I didn't even have a skill currently being learned. D'oh! I was just enjoying wandering around and looking at the scenery and being all blissfully ignorant. :D
And rushing through the skill tree too fast. Most of the skills give you quite a handful to experience, once you have them. I prefer to test them out thoroughly before getting yet another skill that I cannot explore at the moment anway.
Thats one of the things I like about this game: The game mechanism does not give you the impression you have to, have to, have to be online and/or manage skills 24/7.
@Epilady- Hear hear. I still don't quite get that... common sense would dictate that all that food would probably be for everybody, not an invitation to pillage and then promptly disappear (though, if I ran around doing that people, I suppose I'd disappear too).
Mistaking and donating my focusing orb; not once but twice! Now I keep a spare in my cabinet. Oh, and I paid 1999 at one vendor and later saw it at another for 999. Then: >_< and now XD
Any other game and I'd say not picking up mining earlier and having to scrape by for currants. But now I'm flying through my levels with more sparkly/currants/food than I know what to do with, I'm kinda nostalgic for the time when I'd eagerly await my next level so I could buy that pink bigger bag I'd been eyeing.
It took me several days to get out of the heights. Somehow I thought it would be better to completely see one area first and finish all the quests I'd got there before venturing over into a new area. *blushes*
Dying early in the day because it never occurred to me to keep an eye on my resources. I couldn't die a second time that day but was too pooped to do anything after returning from Hell. I still often forget to keep an eye on my resources but have only gone to Hell once since the Reset and that was planned.
Should have done Better Learning earlier. Am on Better Learning V, halfway through, 4.5 days left to go. I'm also over 37 skills by some margin, so even learning the bloody thing's not going to help that much. Sigh.
Ground up 50 dullite just now and while moving onto the next stack noticed that I hadn't picked up my element bags and so it was all getting discarded *head desk* Fortunately I noticed in time to cancel the second lot so I only lost the first.
Edit: I did the same thing geekybird, accidentally put 5 bushels of grain up for the price of one because I forgot to change the item number. I notice quickly afterwards but it had already been snapped up.
Feeding one of my piggies 160 potatoes instead of 3. >.< Also, not really knowing what skills to focus on first. Waiting until I had over 40 skills to get to BL4 and 5 was a mistake, but I'm glad it's over now. Seven long, impatient days!
The sno cone one was a killer for me....when i saw you couldn't buy the purple one i thought it was like a food quest and it checked them off when you got them....so I looked and yes the four I had were checked off.....I ate them and had to rebuy them all over when the check marks went poof it was then I realized you had to have them all at the same time....sigh....I really hate sno cones....
@Joojoo No that's not how the sno cone quest works. You don't eat them at all. You need all 5 in your inventory at once and then your familiar takes them all away. If I had a home I could have left them there, but I didn't have a home yet.
I just had my moment the other day. I was harvesting my eggplant for several days to get down to the last egg for the quest. When I was on the last egg and would have harvested it the next day I forgot about it and used fertillidust in my garden...
@Toya Crookedarrow: I did the same noob mistake. I put down my sno cone (can't remember which "flavor") and learned a costly mistake. At least you get XP for it.
I was getting down on myself for not being more systematic in the skill learning - but then I remembered that it's a game. No need to be so "career-driven". In retrospect, it was much more fun to learn and do different things while working toward getting the first emblems, so that learning skills could continue at all. Much more relaxing.
Not planning my skills better. I just grabbed stuff that was quick to learn instead of focusing on anything (and using Better Learning). Not a huge deal because Glitch isn't very high-pressure, but I'm a bit impatient waiting on the 5 days left on Better Learning V…
When I didn't realize mining was a way to earn currants, instead of just favor. Still don't know why that didn't occur to me on my own, I had to read it online! I could've been in a house much much sooner!
@Enelyse
The only use for it that I know of it for the achievements, I don't think you need to sing to them for any other reason... Plus it can knock out ONE HUNDRED energy from me. D:
I didn't realize you could go to different streets using the signposts. I just kept double clicking (and thereby going to the top street) and wondered why I didn't return to the same street when I used the signpost at the different end. @_@; It took me a day or two to realize.
My noob accident happened all of 5 minutes ago - i just hit the enter key and poisoned a tree instead of petting it. To make it even noobier, in a dramatic panic I ran to gardening vendor for cure, they dont sell cure. then I remembered I had one in my house so off I go top get. Go back to tree and find someone has already cured it.
@DramaticHamster the one time I was carrying poison I was horrified that the option appeared directly above harvest when clicking on a tree - bound to go wrong sooner or later!
I think you should only be able to poison from the poison bottle...
Well, these days, I'd guess that a common noob mistake is closing the browser without Exiting The World. This results in your going AFK (as far as the servers are concerned), during which time you still use energy, and then you die. (I'm guessing this is common because there are *lots* of AFK folks around these days.) Imagine your surprise, the next time you open the Glitch page and find yourself in Hell, without knowing why.
