Recipe ingredients inside party spaces...

I have noticed a growing trend of people just hogging all the ingredients and keeping them in their inventory. This is not the way it was intended to be used.  So I propose a change....

If someone picks up the ingredients for the recipes: 1. trigger the opening of making the recipe and , 2. make the ingredients themselves disappear when the party is over if the recipe is not made.  It is intended to be party food, please let them only be used while inside the party. I truly think this will stop the standing over spawn points and keeping them for selfish reasons.

Also, if I there stand and make recipes with the ingredients supplied for use within the party, it would be nice if I did not lose energy. (But that is just a thought)

ETA: probably should have posted this in ideas. If you feel this warrants a move, please do so :)

  • I agree it should be in Ideas, but if there were a) a way to identify an 'organizer' for the party and b) for the 'organizer' to have the ability to boot a person, it might also help

  • +++I purposely don't pick up ingredients if I have no plan to make the dish. Also, stopped making anything after being stalked in a few parties by people who saw me dropping drinks/dishes and hogging them. Classless.

  • When I've hosted parties before I've always encouraged party guests to take as much of the respawning stuff as possible.  Seems silly to waste them.
I don't think they should disappear at end of party. Parties cost a lot of currants. Why shouldn't the host and or the guests get some stuff to take away with them?
Yes, some do go to parties just to hog the freebies, but that's the same as what happens in real life parties.
I've been to plenty of real life parties where certain people will just hang out around the food areas and yoink all the best stuff before others get to it.

  • *grumble*grumble* food poachers *grumble*

I get that you're going to parties to grab food. It's rude & selfish, but hey! maybe you'll make a few currants and someone has to take it, right? Why not you!

Just please... if you see me picking up ingredients at one of the recipe bars do not take the last one. Gah! I know those pickles are mighty tasty... but they kind of make the sandwich! And the salmon... how am I supposed to make the lox for folks if you keep taking the salmon out from under me.

I don't cook. I have no cooking skills other than simple blending and knife & board. I buy all my food and don't keep a pantry on me.  So when I'm whisked away from my travels to go to a party, I need the ingredients that are there if I want to help make food for folks. Leave us that joy & you just might find the lox you walk away with to be worth a bit more than the fish.

  • Also, I think some don't realize those make a recipe.

It would be awesome if there was a little sign that said "Orange Juice" or "Savory Smoothie" or whatever. That might cut down on some of the swiping and/or encourage folks to cook & blend.

  • One of my peeves is when I'm putting food around and I see one person running around picking it all up. Sigh. Makes me not want to be so kind.

  • I like figuring out what the ingredients "dropped" in the parties are supposed to make and then making them to put out for others. And the intent behind the ingredients appearing in the parties instead of the actual foods themselves must be to do this (right?). But it's almost impossible to fulfill that intent or at least super frustrating. Someone always comes by and takes one ingredient or two and I can't make the drink or dish to put out for others.

Yeah, I know, you can play the game how you want, but if this is going to be the behavior the majority of the time in party spaces, it'd be better for the party space to drop the actual drink or food instead of the ingredients. Or make it easier or more obvious that there's a crafting job there, such as have a segregated bartender area or mini-chef station where the person who sits there gets to make food with the dropped ingredients. It's a PARTY :-). Create fun, not frustration. (and sorry this should be in Ideas but didn't want to make a new thread)
