Level Progression

Having not a great deal of time to spend in Glitch world - I have managed to progress to level 14.  Also have little time to study the forums on strategy - as I would rather be exploring the world.  However it is very unclear on what you need to do to progress up the levels?  Learning new skills and achieving tasks I presume is the method - but there is little feedback on this.
Am I missing something really obvious?

  • It's not obvious. It's just kinda boring / opposed to the potentially more interesting things in the game.

Donations to the giants will help level you up (even if you are not getting favor points).

Singing to butterflies will help level you up (drink girly drinks or use no-no).

I will note that there isn't any particular advantage to being leveled up. Even though,... you know,... I am.

  • You level up by gaining XP, which is one of the meters at the top left of the page (look up).

The real benefit at this time is just having a larger energy tank.  Also, you get leveling up bonuses.

  • Also, it's just kinda fun if you like to compete with yourself:) May I add...sno cones now and then are kinda handy too if you get a fat influx of cash...

  • Interact with everything-pet and nibble pigs, pet, water and harvest every tree you pass, harvest peat, dig dirt piles, talk to other glitches-it adds up, believe me.
The thing I really regard as a waste of time, though, is squeezing chickens. Recent changes have made them difficult to catch and the grain you get is worth next to nothing.

  • RL intervenes. I have been only shallowly playing for a long stretch now.

  • Once you have spent the first emblem of a giant to unlock the skill you are interested in, the remaining emblems can be used once a day to gain XP as well.

  • If you drink a gurly drink and stand in one place, say in Groddle Ladder or Baby Steppes, you can get as many as three levels higher in a very short time.  Sing to the butterflies.. They emote an adorable " Ma..."       It touches my   heart,  I  being the mother of three  children...           Just hit "enter....."               over         and           over            and over.
That is how I do it and I am now No.7 on the Leaderboard..  I compete only with myself as I always try to achieve my personal best in each and every endeavour...I expect to be overcome soon by anyone who has more patience and stubborness.... easy peasey.

  • XPs for every new place you visit (currently up to a limit of 500 new places).

Baqala and Choru also offer you much higher value Quoins (both XP and currants), I often go there at the beginning of each game day if I can.

Once you can make powders, using Extremely Hallowed Shrine Powder will boost your shrine donations.

Also check the Achievements section for what other badges you can get.  IMO, these are fun to aim for or just be surprised by...hoping for lots more of these :-)

Hi Clare good to see you;)

  • +1 for mining!

Although I'd listen to those like napabeth with a high level...I had no idea singing to butterflies was that useful. I think I'll try that out next game.

  • Better get it while you can, Freeman! As an inveterate lepidopteral yodeler myself, I have a strong feeling the gurly buff is going to get restricted in some way before launch.

  • Oh please, not the Gurly buff, too; they've already taken my marvelous no-no away!
