Miner issue (arf!)

Not sure if it's just me, but when I'm mining I usually just hit enter several times once the green mining bar reaches full to reselect the rock I'm standing in fornt of and then start mining again.
Unfortunately if there are any creatures around me at the point where I start bashing enter then they get listed first in the menu that pops up and I have to move right as many times as there are creatures so that I can select the rock and mine again.
I would be most useful (IMHO) if the order of things was reveresed so that rocks were listed first as it would make things flow much better when mining.
Anyway, excellent game, having lots of fun !
Cheers

  • But what about people who want to interact with creatures? Not everybody is a miner, and chicken-squeezers, butterfly-strokers and pig-munchers could argue the same thing: it's more convenient for them if the creatures show up first in the list of things to interact with.

  • But you probably wouldnt be standing in front of a rock if you were pig/chicken harvesting, so that choice wouldn't be there to interfere. I agree with DePax.

  • Same thing with trees, critters, etc. It would be awesome if the thing you most recently interacted with was the first thing in the list of choices.

  • Lilith's suggestion is a good one and would keep miners and foragers happy - without overly tailoring the game to one particular playstyle at the expense of another.

  • yes!! I would love to see a 'chicken repellent' for farm-mining!

  • +1 to chicken/butterfly repellent powder!

  • I think the order stuff appears has more to do with the 'item' closest to you. You may not see it that the pig or chicken's 'point' is closer than the rock, but when you hit enter the frame lists all of the accessible 'points' that can be interacted with.

Mining is one of the few tasks I've actually found to be loads easier with a mouse. I'm not sure I want to see the rocks always come first, or anything always come first, but there's merit in a more stable, predictable uniformity.

  • I agree with DePax as well, but I wonder if it is purposely like that so just to annoy us miners!

@Mindy: usually people who are interacting with animals don't have a lot of rocks in areas where the animals are.  It is only a problem when people bring animals into the mines because then they get in the way, whereas people cannot move rocks to places where animals are.  It really wouldn't hurt the foragers/animal collectors.

@Trav: I think that is true, but when equal distance from a rock and an animal it seems that the animal is still selected over the rock.

Not a big deal, just a slight annoyance!  And I like Lilith's idea as well.  Very useful for everybody.

  • I use my mouse exclusively, keyboard only for the jump.  Makes mining a snap just click mine.

  • Would be nice if the rocks came first rather then the animals!
It drives me crazy when a chicken 'hangs' arund while mining a rock and I keep clicking on it instead of the rock!

  • agree with xoxJulie - use the mouse when there are a lot of objects around.

  • Also, when petting then nibbling a pig, having nibble appear as the default option after petting instead of rename for named animals would be awesome. It might be running on alphabetical order, but when trying to build up a stock of meat, it does get a bit annoying
