So glad to know you are all fine there in Vermont. A hurricane is something serious! I kept everyone in that hurricane's path in prayer!
I live in the high desert and we have gusts of wind at 70 mph which is normal , summer storms
(mannsoon) means higher winds with rain which actually makes small rivers ,when its a dry summer we have sand all over the place, in winter it runs higher, lol everyone walks with scarfs on, or your hair sticks up or sideways all the time! We also have wild fire's in the mountains which I see as I look out the window, I mean acres and acres of fire loss. In winter it snows and it snows side-ways due to winds! our tree's need strengthening poles to keep them upright, otherwise the palo-verde tree's grow sideways! lol, Exciting place to live! just thought I would share!
Oh my goodness so sorry Vermont lost Bartsonville Bridge! It looks as though it was quite beautiful and a bridge I would have enjoyed so much to cross as well as look at! What a shame that something so beautiful would be destroyed. My heart goes out to all Vermont residents and their loss, but as you said CountFromO your alive! And there is where joy begins, yes most all are alive and ready to clean up and make Vermont beautiful again!
welcome back Icount. so glad you're alright. i'm still looking for one of my NJ glitch friends and i hope one day soon i will see a post from her too saying she's ok. thanks for letting us know you're back.
Icount I also am in Vermont (UVM). Fortunately the campus sustained only a bit of leaking, however I did hear about the bridge from friends who live near it :(
ben and jerry's is indeed in waterbury, but uphill from the damage.
don't be all excited about the ice cream anymore, though, because even though it WAS something special once upon a time, it's now just another overpriced premium brand brought to you by a huge multinational corporation.
they still wear their maverick hippie face, but it's all unilever now. if you were there at the beginning and the middle, you know the difference.
but if you imagine the intersection in town below the plant, yeah. people down there lost EVERYTHING.
i was down there a couple of days ago pulling carpets and stripping out ruined drywall and throwing out everything.
It'll still be a week before I'm connecting from anywhere other then the library, and checking anything more then emails, but so far, so good. I'm glad to have survived, and I'm glad to see others that made it.
