It'd be neat to have more ways to store things at home. Yes, more expensive houses have larger storage places--but who hasn't overloaded those nearly instantly? So adding storage to a house is a neat upgrade.
For example, an expensive fridge that you have to 'set up' like a machine, but once set up accepts a large amounts of foodstuffs (eggs, milk and meat being the primary problems). It does encourage hoarding, but people do that anyway, just all over the floor of their houses.
Or a pantry for non-perishables, or a rock gnome to hold my rocks and gems, a bean bin, and so forth. Fashionable! Be the first on your block to have one!
