Blockmaker Stuff

1) It's pretty weak to make something with the Blockmaker, only to have someone come along and collect the fruits of your labor. I'd prefer that the only person that can collect is the person that creates.

Am I right?

2) Also...I couldn't seem to be able to create more than one item at a time, regardless of whether I had sufficent resources to make multiples.

3) Can't confirm this, but things seem a bit weird when fuel gets low. I see the bubble that says "fuel is low" (paraphrasing), but everything else indicates that I am good to go. If fuel in insuffiecient, I'd like to see items greyed out, or some msg indicating insufficient fuel.

As always...I was drunk on hooch at the time...so #1 - 3 may be hallucinations.

That said...I enjoyed myself.

  • Not so much only you can use it. I was thinking of setting up some machines for people in the streets. Mine is in my house, it is nice to have something so permanent except if I move there goes 3k so, yeah.

Also a stress on the need to get home more often, since we now have more items that are stationary there is more emphasis on a need to get home fast.

The fuel thing was rather weird as was the can't-make-more-than-one bug. That is what we are here for though.

    "As always" Joe?

  • I've narrowed it down to either:

    1) I may have a problem with the hooch.
    - or -
    2) ?

    Will advise as conditions deteriorate...

  • Me too, but it is a pain to get back to where you started

  • Yea. I wish there was a way you could teleport back to the last place you teleported from.

  • The whole point of Glitch is to work as a team and a community, so I don't think point 1 is valid, and it is certainly in the spirit of the game for this to happen.

  • Agree with Rikk, was about to set up blockmaker in the garden then thought how useless that was for anyone else, so set it up in street. Even though it costs quite a lot, by this stage of the game I have enough currants not to worry and it would be very limited if only one person could use it.

  • Yeah, I don't know if currants are going to be in less supply in the future, but they don't seem to be a huge issue. I realised I was running low on mood and haven't learned any drinks making skills yet (don't know why...) so I spent about 4000 currants on drinks in 5 mins...

Shortly after I had bought a bigger house...

  • I'm with Rikk - especially for us just having been introduced to to the Block Maker. Blocks will become a commodity and can be made before hand to be sold in "shops" or listed on Auction when needed; IMO, the current Block Making dynamic does NOT need to be changed.

  • To be clear, my point is NOT to limit people from *using* a blockmaker that I create. I am referring to the items that are *created* by the blockmaker.

So, making a block is a two-step process:
    1) Use the blockmaker to create a brick.
    2) Collect said brick

My point is, after I collect the resources for a brick AND create the brick...I don't like it if someone is able to *collect* that brick that I created. Make sense?

I agree that everyone should be able to use the brickmaker, regardless of who builds it...that's why I built mine next to a public project.

  • That's still the point of Glitch though, Joe. We all work together on projects and to make life better. If you want your own blocks, you could always put a clockmaker in your house.

It's meant to be a very different dynamic to other MMPORGs.

  • Re (1): The way it is supposed to work is that the only person who can collect the finished block is the one who made it (but you have to collect within some fixed period of time — 10 seconds or something?) That *may* be broken :)

Re (2): Only being able to make one at a time is by design. In the future, there will be a "hopper" upgrade which will let you load more and make several at once.

Re (3): we'll look into that. If there is not enough fuel to make a block, the verbs *should* be greyed out. The warning might just be "hey - there is not that much fuel left" (rather than "there is not enough fuel left to do anything").

  • Thanks for the clarifications, stoot. The "by design" behavior you describe seems very fair to me.
