  •  If we all play as we want to, and some of us choose to adopt a certain norm to play by (courtesy), no one should mind since we are all playing as we want to. If you knowingly choose to play in a manner that is bound to be offensive to many players, then don't get upset when those people get offended.

real life/not real life: If you spend time out of your real life to do something, it is real in your life. Is it physically present in our world away from the computer? No. However, it is no less impacting on your sense of self when someone takes something you spent real minutes of your life to find, earn or accumulate in any fashion.

  • Well said, @Piecemaker13: time may not be a physical thing you can hold in your hand, but it is still very real, and extremely precious!

  • @Piecemaker13 and Shepherdmom    Well said..well bloody said!
So with that Im going to go kiss my very real husband, tell my daughter I love her. Then go watch the TV program I have recorded, while eating a piece of the very real chocolate cake I made with my very precious time and daughter, on my day off. Then I will never post on this thread again as nothing will change, the arguments will go round and round and round where assumptions will be made and conclusions drawn .All a total wast of precious time [including some of my own] because the next time I play this wonderful fun game some one else will piss someone else off, no matter who or how old they are and back on the wheel yee shall go!
im off to eat cake yummy :)

  • I didn't read this whole thread because it's really long and a lot of it seems redundant. Nevertheless, here's my redundant 2c worth:
In any multiplayer online game there will always be an uncensorable element: what people say and how people act. Bleeping "bad words" doesn't even cure a fraction of that as you can say the worst things without using any bad words.
In this game we have the ability to leave notes lying around and even name the animals which opens the above can o' worms even wider.
Glitch wont lose anything by suggesting the game may not be appropriate for children - they are a small demographic. (Did you get the awful pun?)
Parents should be aware of what their children play and i know an awful lot of kids play an awful lot of games that are awfully worse than Glitch.
And as for nono powder and hooch and cocktails.. have your kids ever watched a movie? Do they go to a public school? Sorry to burst bubbles but I'm sure your kids know as much or more about these topic than you care to imagine.
Glitch is not an offensive game but due to its online and very public nature, as with any other public, social place online, should probably be rated the equivalent of PG13 with emphasis on the *Parental Guidance* which, unfortunately, most parents these days seem to overlook. Or maybe they just don't know what PG actually stands for.

  • hehehe Cupcake's mention of taking RL legal action for stealing an item reminds me of a very recent episode of Big Bang Theory, in which Sheldon calls the cops because he's been robbed... in World of Warcraft. LOL. :)

  • +1 @Piecemaker. Your post made me laugh.  So convoluted at first read, then so real when digested! It reads like poetry.  Or am I just sleep deprived?  Lol.  I'm up at 4 am, can't sleep well these days, but reading in Glitch is just what I need. Ditto to Shephardmoon and Misha, lovely thoughts.  I'm with ya Cupcake, I hope the thread never ends.  Its thought provoking and entertaining.

  • I'd like to apply Hanlon's Razor to this scenario: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." I would also like to soften that blow and sub "stupidity" with "miscommunications."

IMHO this has little to do with age, and alot to do with the difficulty in communicating is this game. I have posted a convoluted idea here that tries to address it. Your other suggestions are welcome.

    Rock on!
