Ever wanted to count up all the items on the floor of your house?

Now for a limited time (before the new housing changes), I can process the number of items on the floor of your house and output it on a page like this: http://glitchium.com/house/PA9VHKNCKQD2LUN.html

The following steps are involved:

  • This can happen whenever both house owner and I are online in the game. Send an IM or find me in-game to request the counting.

  • I will have to enter the house, so only request this if you can trust me.

  • The item count will not include gnomes and lit pumpkins outside the home, and also will not include any items inside containers such as bags, giftboxes, or cabinets.

  • If you can summon, that will be the fastest method. Otherwise I will take the subway and walk if I am out of map teleports.

  • Please specify if you want the list of items in your house public or private when making the request. If it's public, the link will be connected (eventually) to the player profile on Glitchium. If you wish for the link to remain private, simply make sure to not share it with anyone and delete your browser history if you are on a public computer.

  • The count will be in the unit of item stacks. An item stack can contain anywhere from 1 to the max stack size for a particular item. Generally if you have full stacks, you can estimate the total number of a particular item by multiplying max stack size with the number of stacks.

  • "The item count will not include... any items inside containers such as bags, giftboxes, or cabinets."

I am amazed!  How did you get all that stuff in your house without containers?  My house is similar and is loaded with many bags and a few other items not bagged.  The cabinet is full of bags.  The yard is loaded with feeders, collectors, animals, earth, loam and planks.  There are 5 icons crammed in there.  I don't have nearly as much as you do and yet I have little room for more and must sell every time I play in order to be able to squeeze my chickens and plants my crops.  I am curious as to how many firefly jars I have though.  They are not in any container other than my currant collection of Bags in inventory.  If you ever get bored enough to inventory containers let me know.  I have a month's work here for you (at least).

  • I have 1000+ items in my house. Heh heh. Want a key? I even have mown group! The, 1332 Kartika Crams group?

  • Brib, just deposited them over time but I really should have more in bags so it doesn't lag haha. Unfortunately there's no way to count stuff inside containers that are on the floor of your house, unless you took turns putting each bag in your inventory then running it through an inventory checker then repeated the process. Hope one day the API will offer a good way to count all of your items, not just the ones inside the inventory.

Kronos, if you'd like a count, sure! But otherwise I don't really need a key if we are both online.

  • Cat Face i may do the same, everything i have is in bags too except for what the garden repeatedly turns up. It'd be fun to see in #'s.

  • I see wurk opportunities here:

    1. Insurance...in case Tom decides to count ON taking your inventory OUT of your home.
    2. Bouncer Position...Bouncing Tom out of your home, if he doesn't want to leave.
    3. Security...Tom goes through a security checkpoint before entering you home.
    4. Maid...Clean your home before Tom's visit.
    5. Photographer...Take photos of ALL your stuff...Insurance will probably require this.
    6. Personal Shopper...After Tom counts, you realize you didn't have as much as you thought, don't have time or energy to collect more and want more.
    7. Intervention Councilor...You know what this is for!

    *AIF...(All In Fun)

  • OMGiants - I worry when I have to put bags full of things on my floor because the cabinet is full.  Those piles of stuff would drive me crazy every time I entered the house!

  • TomC, how are you doing this?  Some kind of API call that I can't get my head around, or are you actually counting things?

  • You can do this by pressing q and o at the same time, which usually freezes your game for a little while, and then shows you what's going on as you play the game: pings, key presses, graphics loading, and so on.  When you have this screen running and then enter a house (or any other location), you can see a record of each item's graphics being loaded.

  • Does nothing on my machine.. do i need a debugging version of flash?
Posted 10 months ago by Vicereine Linnæa Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yes, glum pretty much explained it. This window also shows all the stack info which you can copy to clipboard. The stack info generally loads within milliseconds and doesn't require the actual item graphics to load so you don't have to wait through the lag in order to obtain the necessary data.

Are you pressing Q and O at the exact same time? Make sure to wait a bit as it can take awhile to load. Alternatively try pressing Q and P and see if the mini stats window appear in the bottom right corner of your screen.

  • Do you really have approx. 68,250 planks O.o? My rough 32k seems tiny in comparison now...
Posted 9 months ago by Liza Throttlebottom Subscriber! | Permalink
  • yup, I have hoarding issues..................................................  ;)
Posted 9 months ago by Li'll Missy Brenda Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I don't have even half as much as your total amount of stacks, Li'll Missy. I've only got about 12k in planks. You must have an incredible amount of lag in your house.

I've been working to eliminate the lag in my house by using as much as I already have and donating for the xp. I've stopped most of my harvesting a long time ago (after I got all the crafting and harvesting badges - harvesting peat & fireflies took a while though), with the exception of planks, spice, rice, pumpkins, and rookswort. I'm slowly making progress.

It was a nice change to have new housing that was lag free, haha! I hope to be able to get there again with my old house.

  • I just can't decide whether I need stuff or currants for the changes to come, so Ijust hoard Both! ;)
and yes, horrible lag, but I don't mind, I only drop stuff off there and live in the new place. Cuter. :)

  • Oh I am so glad you are not sitting there counting them. I honestly thought you were.

And I was all, "Poor TomC, you should at least charge a fee for all that counting!"

  • And I was worried about the 2 small bags and small stack of roughly 30 items I have on my floor... WOW! I guess I can rest easy that if I lose anything in the housing change it will not be as bad as others! :D
