New Skill - Flower Arranging!

I would love to see this as a skill, perhaps following Herbalism 2.  You would need a to buy a vase, and there would be recipes for different arrangements.  Some arrangements would attract butterflies or fireflies, some would make lovely home decor, and some would have mood altering abilities.  I would even like one that you can put on your own tombstone to erase it (I am always so embarrassed to see a tombstone with my name on it).

  • +1 Interesting idea - there do need to be more uses for herbs. And this skill could trigger some herb related quests.

If there is a vase then we need a place to display it. Some houses (like those in the bogs where herbs are grown) have tables where items can be placed. But the addition of item bearing tables that can be placed in any house would perhaps make these arrangements  something for people with this skill to sell/trade/gift to others regardless of where they live.

and there should be a Metarrangement (Meta+Arrangement) Achievement: Munch some Silvertongue and then make 3 Arrangements incorporating Silvertongue while under the Silverytongued Charmer buff and get the buff bonus in addition to your Badge.

  • Its sort of an interesting idea.  I think if they are going to let us customize our houses then we should have to make some of our decorations from the ground up.  Learning herbalism, growing flowers, arranging the flowers.   Making pictures for the walls by using other skills (maybe an in-game camera  yes? yes? ).  In that way the things we display will seem a bit more like trophies and proof of accomplishments than just more junk that we bought because we have extra currents lying around.   Buying decorative junk made in china (or by someone else) is too much like real life.  Earning that junk is a whole different thing.

  • i'm in favor of any idea that develops herb use more fully.

so far i haven't raised any flowers because there just doesn't seem to be a point to it.

i know some people like purp, but i tired it and it looks to me like a one trick pony. i mean the one joke is funny, and i like the purple screen, but it's kind of a fizzle to me.

it's more trouble than the one joke is worth, and isn't really useful.

if there were more benefit to growing flowers, i'd really like that.

  • @flask: I know what you mean about Purple - I like it and still partake now and then, but wish there were a wider variety of randomly triggered experiences one might have when munching Purple.

I grow and use Rubeweed and I think it makes me luckier but I haven't done any clinical trials to see if it really works or if I'm seeing my drops through Rube-colored glasses.

Hairball is great when your time is limited by the ticking-clock of the Ancestral Lands (and helps put some distance between you and the JuJus).

Also tried Yellow Crumb but also still need to see how long that sped up learning buff can be sustained.

Didn't try Gandlevery and Rookswort before reset as energy and mood were real issues for me once I got to be higher level, but may have to give them a go now that I'm a lowbie all over again.

So while Purple steals the limelight with its obvious and apparent effects, I think there are lots of under-appreciated benefits to herbs.

But I agree, the more benefits to herbs (and herb growers) the better.

  • I know when I used rubeweed last test, it definitely made me luckier in mining.  This test, it's hard to say, because I have a lower mining level, and I honestly don't remember how often I would get a gem at a lower level.
