Let us reset ourselves

I'd like a simple button on the homepage which would allow me to reset my character, delete my ownership of my house, and destroy all my items. It would help in testing my skill queuer, and also because I've now hit level 20, I have 26k currants and nothing to do, so I'd like to restart.

  • +1  I was thinking about this earlier too.  Everyone fears the 'great reset', but I fear the 'great boredom factor' once I get to a certain level (not there yet). I too would love to have an option to personally reset myself and start over from scratch and potentially doing different skill sets and trying different tactics of play...I'd even be willing to go through the tutorial again every time.

  • Agreed or an option to 'buy' another toon to start over with

  • I'm not sure what the devs might take from this, but it brings some interesting points to mind --

    1. Do people feel there is no point in experience 'longevity'?
    2. What do players have to 'work up' to if they feel they should restart by level 20?

  • TS has stated that they've been focusing (for obvious reasons) on the level 1 to 20 experience, and are well aware that after level 20 or so things get a little slimmer. No matter what, it will be nigh impossible for them to great enough material/quests/etc to keep players entertain every day, day in and day out. Stuff will HAVE to be somewhat player driven. Which should be somewhat easier when the game is open 24/7. (I know that I would not feel the pressure to explore new things every test period and take some time to plan treasure hunts and the like if I knew I could play whenever.)

Anywhozits, longevity is an issue the TS is has plans for. Only time will tell how they all pan out.

As to reset, I have absolutely not problem with a reset option. It would have a good chance of lessing the amount of people just creating new accounts to play through again.

    BUT....
Right now, they may be more interested in how things progress at ALL levels. With a steady flow of new players, aren't driven to let old players reset.
    AND....
Option should NOT be on the home page. A big option like "reset everything" should be in the account section or some such.

  • I agree with Lord Bacon-o about a player-driven experiences in the long term. Once it is up 24/7 people can start to focus on amusement like creating or participating in treasure hunts, or "art" installations like piling large quantities of green eggs or wavy gravy next to every shrine to Mab, or something similarly random. Hopefully Glitch will develop that sort of culture, and players will enjoy Glitch as a whimsical playground and use their imaginations to create entertainment (in addition to quests, skills and game-related goals). People are already starting to create interesting things on their own, like the Glitch Food Kitchen and Philanthropic Society group (at least it sounds interesting based on their group blurb).

  • new characters, multiple characters per subscriber account? yes.

    reset, no.

there are "unlearning" skills coming up tho.

  • I wouldn't mind have an option to reset a character, but I'd like to see limits on it so it isn't abused or anything.

Multiple characters which you pay for sounds good, too.

  • +1 to multiple characters for subscriber accounts. That would allow what would essentially be a reset without the implementation of a reset button. Though there would still be an issue if you wanted to use the same name.

  • +1 to multiple characters. With the diminishing returns on skill learning, it might be nice to have multiple avatars that you can specialize with.

  • Reset and multiple characters. A couple of free ones and the rest you pay for. Actually if there was a way to specialize a character there would be more incentive to do just that. Maybe a learning bonus for specializing in one area and a liability for learning in an opposite area. Not a new idea, but it allows people to experiment more. :) A generalist type is still good, especially for new players.

  • +1 to being able to reset. i like being able to go back to the beginning and try again. it is actually something that i have found lacking in lots of other games and its frustrating - who wants to set up another email etc etc, what a hassle.
