Skill Speed Questions

I have a few questions about speeding up skills, and the mechanics therein.

Say I select a skill, and then donate to a number of shrines until I've reduced the learning time to 50% of the original time.  Can I switch to a new skill and then begin donating to reduce the learning time on that skill as well, or will my donations to the first skill be forfeit if I switch away from it before completing the skill?

The max I can reduce any skill's learning time is 50%, right?

Does spending emblems give a consistent amount of time toward reducing a skill, or is it variable based on your maximum favor with that giant?  I can't say if it's true, but it seems that on a giant like Lem, where my favor limit is up to 1900, I can donate up to, say, 1850, and get more of a time reduction than if I pushed it to get the emblem and then spent the emblem.

  • If you speed up a skill and then pause it, you'll lose any sped-up time you've accumulated.  The game warns you about this on the skills screen.  It is not a good idea to pause a skill, as it starts to count against you for the learned skills penalty as soon as you start learning it.

I believe the max you can speed up is half the time you have left, yes.  If you're close to finishing a skill, and you've done nothing to speed it up to that point, you will only be able to reduce the time remaining by half - not half of the original learning time.

Spending emblems gives you a fixed amount of speed-up time, and is not variable with respect to the amount of favor you had to donate in order to get said emblem.  I had several emblems with the primary giant for a skill recently, and they all gave me the same speed up time.

As you accumulate the ability to store more favor, you will want to spend the favor instead of getting and spending an emblem, if your intent is to speed up skill times in the fastest way.

    Hope that helps...

  • From personal experience, do not switch if you have speed learning running. What happens is it forever locks that skill to normal speed and you cannot speed it up again. From the time I restarted BL5, it veena running at a normal pace, but it says it's going super fast. 9 days on this skill with no way to speed it up...

    Don't do it!
