@Shine Why wouldn't it be? People do the same thing in real life via sites like Craig's List on occasion.
For example, say Guy A lives in a great part of town, but wants to live closer to work but can't afford to move. Guy B wants to live in A's neighborhood, but can't find a place in his price range that is available, but A's place would be if he wasn't already living there. The two make a deal for B to pay A's moving fees and B applies for the apartment as soon as A tells his land lord he intends to move.
Not to crush anyone's entrepreneurial spirit, but regardless of whether or not such a transaction is "legal," it definitely isn't a guarantee that someone else can't just swoop in and snatch the house as soon as it's put on the market. Given how competitive realty currently is in areas such as Groddle, this wouldn't surprise me. And the last thing I would want is either party feeling as though they've been swindled! Such a disclaimer would definitely do such a transaction some good, in my opinion.
Not at all, fishFUNK! But I think it's important to highlight the fact that you're selling the act of leaving the house, and nothing more. The house then goes on the open market, where it is available to all buyers. I wish there was a system to transfer home ownership from one person to another directly, but it just doesn't exist at this point. :(
Of course, if the buyer is present and can receive a notification from the seller at the exact moment it's sold, then it's a simple case of having the appropriate realty page open ready to be refreshed.
I don't think it's likely that the home will be snatched up in the 20 seconds that whole process would take.
I suppose the point of having set prices is to ensure than, when housing is available in a region, it isn't going to be beyond the price range of an average glitch
It can and has been sbatched up befor3 the intended person can get it. Most folksknow that...Is the money going to be returned if the person cant buy it?? Whats the garantee it will?? Some people line up a few suckers to pay them then move out and notify the victims..then says..oh sorry not my fault someone beat you to it..Think before you spend your money...Is it truly a guaranteed deal?? Just like people trying to set up banks...or have lotteries or will sell you such and such just send them the money and they will send things to you..Its a nice game with a cooperative venture but it makes it wasy for people to cheat someone...and being it would be perfectly witin the game rules you wouldnt have anyone to compalin to...
I'm sure you're speaking from experience, but probably not your experience in this game. It's not "perfectly within the game rules" to scam people here:
Duping or deceiving other players into doing things which benefit you at their expense is not allowed.
If something like that happens here, the person simply files a Report Abuse notice and gives the details. The staff will investigate and apply the appropriate sanctions. They can see if someone has gotten identical payments from a group of people. If you try to scam someone here, you will not be allowed to play.
I think WindBorn means that the player "lin[ing] up a few suckers to pay them then move out and notify the victims" is the scammer, not Just Me. And they are scamming in that they're accepting payment from several players giving each of them the impression that the house will be theirs, only to move out and let anyone snatch it up, keeping the players' currants in the process.
wind...I don't think JustMe said "perfectly within the game rules" to scam people here. I think what's 'perfectly within game rules' are the stated lotteries, banks, etc that people create...but some may/are there to cheat others and can't be proven as such if they are carried out correctly.
Sir Mixalatte, so far all of the in-game banks, lotteries, etc have had no complaints in public from the participants.
As I noted above, even if the OP was scamming, there are ways for people to report scam-like behavior and have it investigated by staff who have access to all the game records. Including suspicious identical payments to the OP for precisely the amount listed.
If the lotteries, banks, etc are there to cheat others, there are investigative tools available to staff which can give sufficient information for staff to make a decision. What I quoted was not a "rule" but a "guideline". Staff have a lot of leeway to decide whether or not a player is making the game less fun for others. If it appears from all the computer data that they are in the game for the purpose of pissing other people off, then they can't play.
It is not "perfectly in the game rules" to cheat others even if the others don't have "proof".
It's a tree house.or a cave house. Those generally do not get scooped up reight away. They'll persist for several minutes usually, so I'd risk it. I wouldn't pay a premium for such a house, though, but that's another matter.
