Love the Quantum Leap reference on the door potion!

Man, this is why I moved to a bog-house yesterday. I was hopin' potions would come soon. So eager! Also, new tools! The two unused slots in my toolboxes are feeling hopeful.
Oh man, essence of purple!

I love the QL reference too! Also, this is freakin awesome! I've learned so many skills that it will take me a few days to get to Potions II and I don't want to unlearn anything.

I got tincture making last night and potion making I this morning and tried them out...
essence of purple - this was the first one I tried out. It did not disappoint.
essence of yellowcrumb - VERY useful. Someone can try the math, but it's possible this compares favorably to donate/spend.
essence of rubeweed - forces the rube to appear, and works as advertised.
essence of silvertongue - still waiting for an achievement.
Amorous Piltre - this appears to supply a buff that radiates mood to those around you. My single test did not appear to work, but it's possible I was Doing Something Wrong. It is not cheap to make as you need to combine essence of silvertongue with essence of purple.
Charades potion - The buff on this is way too short, IMO. It's a party drink.
I didn't have time to test other tinctures or get what I needed to make other potions. only some are available with potions I. Rainbow juice needs all sorts of stuff and again, appears to be a party drink. Essence of Rookswort might be useful to the Rook-fighting community.
Tree poison antidote is available with potions I. Actual tree poison isn't available until potions II, which I am still learning.

Not really spoilers...but here goes so far:
Rainbow Juice is AWESOME! Just perfect.
Charades Potion is fun, but interval for guessing should be longer. Its over before a couple clues are give out
Amarous Philrite is...odd, and could stand to last a bit longer too. Maybe more like a game of tag where you want to be "it" at the end, and a reward.

So cool! Thanks for posting this list. ^_^

Heh. Amorous philtre smell of macaroons. I would have said madeleines.
Many years had elapsed during which nothing of Combray, save what was comprised in the theatre and the drama of my going to bed there, had any existence for me, when one day in winter, on my return home, my mother, seeing that I was cold, offered me some tea, a thing I did not ordinarily take. I declined at first, and then, for no particular reason, changed my mind. She sent for one of those squat, plump little cakes called "petites madeleines," which look as though they had been moulded in the fluted valve of a scallop shell. And soon, mechanically, dispirited after a dreary day with the prospect of a depressing morrow, I raised to my lips a spoonful of the tea in which I had soaked a morsel of the cake. No sooner had the warm liquid mixed with the crumbs touched my palate than a shudder ran through me and I stopped, intent upon the extraordinary thing that was happening to me. An exquisite pleasure had invaded my senses, something isolated, detached, with no suggestion of its origin. And at once the vicissitudes of life had become indifferent to me, its disasters innocuous, its brevity illusory - this new sensation having had on me the effect which love has of filling me with a precious essence; or rather this essence was not in me it was me. I had ceased now to feel mediocre, contingent, mortal. Whence could it have come to me, this all-powerful joy? I sensed that it was connected with the taste of the tea and the cake, but that it infinitely transcended those savours, could, no, indeed, be of the same nature. Whence did it come? What did it mean? How could I seize and apprehend it?

Proust is wonderful, if sometimes a bit dense.
Not unlike fudge.
Or a macaroon.

anyone know how to make krazy salts?
-
A warning about the essence of silvertongue.
If you have the 5% buff before getting the 20% buff, the buffs will appear to stack.
BUT, upon next achievement or quest complete, it's the 5% which will apply (not the 20%) AND the 20% buff will disappear. I have already submitted a bug report about this.

do you need potionmaking to make krazy salt?

No. Just admixing. I just made some.
