Is Energy Unlimited?

Brain capacity will max out. Levels max out. Quoin multipliers max out.
Does energy tank/emotion? I just passed a milestone that I believed might be the upper limit, but no. Should I perhaps await a nearby prime number?  Anybody know. how far above 10,580 I could go?

  • I believe it is unlimited.

  • At least one player has over 40K energy, I believe. There doesn't appear to be a cap.

  • I'm at 12780.  I wonder if the cap is tied to your level?

  • Is there any benefit to raising energy beyond 2 or 3 thousand?

  • Pris - depends on how "active" you are when you play. Do you ever burn through your entire energy bar? If yes, then yeah, consider increasing it. If not, then you're good right where you are :)

Then there are those of us, like myself, who don't have anything else to spend out iMG on. In that case, they sky appears to be the limit.

  • "Where no Glitch has gone before!"

The cap, if it currently exists, has yet to be hit. Lucidess is well over 40,000 already.

I somewhat expect TS to someday add a limit, but I do not see it as necessary.

  • I stopped at 4k, because I can generally play the way I like to play without dying unless I die on purpose. That is, with energy quoins, playing with my icons and the (very occasional) stack of awesome stews, I can usually play as much of a Glitch day as I want without feeling like I am constrained by energy issues. (It helps that I never play more than 2 hours of a Glitch day - even if I'm watching TV and playing in the evening, my Prime Glitch Playing Time straddles two game days.)

I haven't earned my dying badges, tho, so I don't want to raise it much higher. I want to be ABLE to die near the end of a Glitch day if I want to.

  • I'm at 2040 because, like Aliera, I'd like to be able to die deliberately some day. As it is, I never accidentally die, surviving mostly on simple meat, quoins, and drops.

  • Butterfly singing still works. At my level and tank size, it takes around 1000 energy per action, so intentional death is still possible.

  • Surely not a limit?  I'm at 4700 and sticking with that for now.. Just 'cause.. I get a good run on this but can also pop over to Cebarkul and pick up another DDT when things works out (without working at it or having to do No-No).

  • Aliera- no-no assures me that it will always be easy to die, no matter how big your tank gets.

  • *Sidenote* Before you go on an energy buying spree... consider that certain badges will be harder to get. Notably the ones for dying (1009 times for the largest badge) and the ones for meditating an amount of time (the cooldown after meditating increases a lot the more energy you have). And then lastly the various teleportating badges: teleportation takes a percentage of your max energy per teleport, 10% with Teleportation 5 skill. Regaining the energy lost in a teleport with a huge energy tank will take significantly longer.

  • The dying badges you can just use Wine of the Dead, but the Teleporting badges are a major problem with large energy tanks.

  • Doing the teleporting and dying badges in tandem may be the best with large tanks: Teleport 9 or 10 times, die (or use Wine of the Dead), then a Get Out of Hell Free card. Haven't worked out the details regarding cooldowns, timing, etc, but for--approximately--every 10 deaths you get 100 teleports (that can't be right.... can it?).

With large tanks you have to play differently. Energy quoins from Ancestral Lands, dying to refill your bars, and maybe some meditation (haven't used that last one much yet, not since it's been fixed) are really the only things you can use to keep your energy up, if I remember right. For a while I stayed at 3000 energy (which is still too high for some people) before going up to 10,000, and after adjusting my play- style slightly, I'm much happier at my current tank level. I still die naturally sometimes, since I play for longer stretches and craft semi-frequently, but I rarely have to worry about low energy.

I did stop at 10,000 though, since: 1.) it was annoying to get to that nice, even number; and 2.) those cards are expensive and I'd like to keep some iMG for *fingers crossed* the next thing to spend it on ;).

  • My tank's at 11.5K. I basically never worry about energy. If I die, Get Out of Hell Free cards fix me right up.

It seems to me that mid-range tanks are the most problematic. But I'm just guessing, now.

  • Bump.. and thanks.. I got some new ideas here.  And I know this is only tangential.. but can someone tell me why sometimes I get that damned "pooped" waiting time and sometimes I don't - when I get a notion to die?  It seems to happen most of the time when near the end of the game day and it's almost always an amount of time that will take me just into the new day.  Am I nerfing myself or is it the game?

  • You get pooped only after you've died for that day. Eating or gaining enough energy removes the buff but it will return if you go below a certain energy threshold. I can only die once per day, thereafter the worst that can happen is I stay at 0 energy and remain pooped until the new day. The pooped timer is always how long remains until the next day.
