Ok, weird observation...

If I open Glitch Home page in Internet Explorer, my person is walking towards the left of my screen, but if I open that page in Firefox she is walking to the right.

Why is that?

And why dont the leaderboards work in Firefox?  I have to open IE to see them.

Just weird.

  • I have Firefox and can see the leaderboards with no problem.

  • Something really trippy? In Chrome she's facing to the right, but if I drag the image off of the page she switches to facing left. spooky!

  • Only on the first drag for me, Skwid! The second time I drag her, she faces to the right, like the what shows on the page.

Idk about your observations, Innie - that sounds strange.

  • Why does it change for the different browsers? Is GOD trying to tell us something?
Posted 15 months ago by Innie✿, Obviously Subscriber! | Permalink
  • the reason why is that Internet Explorer sucks, and doesn't support css transforms.

  • My image on the Home page in FF faces to the right, like the one in Chrome.

And leaderboards work fine for me in FF too, except I don't have the greasemonkey script installed there, so I can't see my favor for giants.

  • Awww striatic...get in touch with your imagination. Try to think up something that makes no sense, just for fun.

    You can do it!

  • Teehee speaking of Leaderboards, I'm #6 right now. Screenshotting for future fake bragging rights. :D

  • If what they say is true (that they are resetting oldest players first) I think I might hold #1 for a while before I get reset!

  • a bit more technically, the img tag which tells your browser to display your avatar image has this sweet baby inside of it ..

    style="-webkit-transform: scale(-1,1); -moz-transform: scale(-1,1);"

the negative one means "flippy flippy". these are browser vendor specific css properties. "webkit" references the rendering engine inside safari and chrome. "moz" references mozilla. you know, like firefox. these are typical for implementing evolving css standards.

    it's all very awesome.

the alternative is for Glitch to create two avatar images, one facing each direction, which is a bit wasteful, or create the avatar image facing the way it is to be displayed, which i'm guessing Glitch has its reasons not to do.

  • Grab some imagination! Do it!! Quit being technical.....This game built on imagination, there has to be some in your head somewhere....

Maybe its just loose in your head...*smacks striatic*  Did that work? Testing, testing...

  • Thank you for the explanation, stri! :)

edit: hey now Innie :p I found it interesting.

  • (Oh yeh sure, it was interesting.....still would LOVE to see him come up with something totally bizarre. Im sure he can do it, if we just BELIEVE!)

  • Yeah, That's all part of the CSS3 standard and its support it still pretty weak across the browsers yet. There are features of it and HTML5 that have yet to have support in any of the major browsers but I'd dearly like to see implemented (like the 'menu' tag).  I thought Transform had support in IE 9 though. I'll have to look that up. Thanks for the info.
