Too many skills? How many is too many?

I currently have 65 skills. Working on BL5. That means I, technically, have 61 skills. Is it possible to have ALL skills without detriment to your character, or have I gone waaaay overboard?

  • You can have all the skills you can train for. True it will take longer and longer to learn each new skill but as far as I am concerned I am in no race. There is no detriment to your character unless you count taking a long time to learn something a detriment I suppose.

  • No detriment to your character but, as you probably know if you've read the BL descriptions, the more skills you learn the longer it takes to learn future skills. That's where Unlearning comes into the picture.

  • You may miss out on some of the initial price gouging that goes on when a new skill is introduced but no detriment.

  • You end up learning the new skills so slowly that everything about them has been discovered by everybody else and all the spoilers are out in the forums and on the wiki.  That's why I am now finally almost done learning Unlearning and about to start stripping all the useless junk outta my brain that I don't use.

And there are a bunch more skills that will be introduced before all skills are out that the devs have planned for us.  In life I am a generalist but my glitch has learned it's lesson and is now specializing ASAP.

  • The correct answer, of course, is 42

  • It's not necessarily about being in 'a race'.   If you've skilled up your character and are looking for new stuff to do, and new content is rolled out that involves new skills, you'll be looking at weeks to actually get to that new content.  I, for one, would like to get at the skills and then the content sooner rather than later.

  • Hmmm, so long as you don't mind cutting every new skills learning time in half through donations, I find having 80+ skills still doesn't bother me much as far as learning times go, the exception will be when they come out with a Mining 4 length new skill, but honestly its nice to be a master of everything in the game. You won't bet boared doing the same thing over and over since you aren't stuck in one or two specialties.

If learning the new skills faster than everyone else really is important to you then simply make a second character, learn no skill on them other than up to BL5 and then use them to learn the new skills. This way your main character can still be a master of everything and you can also get to the new content faster than anyone esle in the game.

  • The caveat being that this alternate glitch must enjoy the new skills for themselves and themselves only, of course :P
