Wood trees

With furniture-making making wood a hot commodity and housing blocks a thing of the past, I have to know--what's the best place to find wood trees? Those SDBs don't make themselves, and I have a lot of cubis and emblems to make boxes for.

  • Just remember to bring some Fertilidust, it's just good manners.

  • Yes, please do bring or mix Fertilidust. I had to consume 2 full bottles of it the last time I went to harvest wood because people kept harvesting the trees to nubs.

  • There is a minor advantage to nubbing the tree stumps, harvest them once and when they pop back up they count as new trees, so instead of one harvest from one tree you can get several harvests in one game day. Still the pay off between harvesting a nub and another new tree may not be as much as dusting to full size. Your distance/experience may vary. This advice is given at your own risk.

  • Yes, Jiva I'd heard that too. So was a little taken aback about a note I found in one forest yelling at people for not dusting, and how somebody had 'had' to dust because others were 'greedy'.

Ah well. People are people, I guess, and don't always bother to look into stuff before deciding what is right and wrong ;)

  • I use the same rules in enchanted forests that I use with my on street icons and machines - basically, I only tithe just before using and fuel just before using. So I use dust in the enchanted woods just before harvesting. Sometimes someone moving from the other direction gains the benefit of the dusted trees too, but that doesn't bother me. This takes the least amount of time and means I always benefit from my own item consumption, and leaves others free to dust or not dust at their discretion.

  • I never dust. I harvest every wood tree in the street, and leave. If the harvested/cleared trees automatically respawn, I assume that they also eventually grow themselves to full trees on their own, too. So I feel zero guilt.

Edit: I do pet and water every tree as I go along, though. I'm sure that helps speed the growth.

  • There's also the Woody Way housing resource route, you can click on my home street to get on.

    Notes:
    1) fully grown wood trees with 4 branches yield 80 planks per harvest, vs. 60 in the Enchanted Forests.
    2) wood trees on our streets don't automatically regenerate after harvesting/clearing, so please water/pet/dust!

  • You can always grow your own wood trees, too ;)

  • just a friendly reminder.. in the enchanted forests:  save your dust!  They're enchanted and don't need it! :)

  • But if you the enchanted forest trees have fewer than 4 branches, then you can dust them to full strength to get more planks.

  • I bring a bottle of mild fertilidust and dust a few of the trees.  I don't take responsibility for dusting them all.   Sometimes I forget the dust and harvest anyway.   There is no obligation but it is good manners.

  • Actually, RainyRain, using fertilidust in the Enchanted Forests, while not necessary, is one of the more cost effective places to use it :)

While you aren't really helping preserve the trees in any real tangible way, since they grow back, you are getting probably the most bang for your buck you'll get on any regular Ur street.

If all the trees have 3 branches and you dust in the Rasana forest, you're getting over 2000c worth of extra planks from your single 200c charge of fert dust :) Since it affects all the trees regardless of how many, the enchanted forests are generally a great place to dust!

    Dust away!
