The Big Bog Bash - Farewell to Firebog Housing

Boggy Banquet is laid out for your delectation at 1100 block, Lowland Track (on Lowland Slough).
Boggy Banquet and party: The boggy banquet will take place at a location close to Somewhat Sump Subwaystation. Please arrive at Somewhat Sump at
12pm Tiny Speck time (8 pm UK time, 2pm Central, 3pm Eastern) and look out for someone with directions. I will also post the location of the banquet in this post shortly after 8 pm.
Calling all Glitchizens of Shimla, Jethimadh, Chakra Phool and Kalavana! Calling all Glitchizens of Ur!

We are about to lose our beautiful firebog housing. Let's celebrate the gorgeous design of these homes and the spacious balconies where we have frolicked, by splashing them with colour…Tomorrow, Sunday April 15th, decorate your blocks and balconies with fruit, herbs, bubbles or whatever colourful glitchy objects that take your fancy! Then we can take a tour together to say farewell. (Might be handy for getting some group teleportation badges.)

Elfers, Biff Beefbat, Violet and pals present the Big Bog Bash (housing block location to be announced) including a Boggy Banquet, the tour of decorated streets, the Big Bog Bounce, and maybe other entertainments, to take place at 12pm Tiny Speck time on April 15th (8 pm Uk time, 2pm Central, 3pm Eastern). All are welcome, you don't have to be a firebog resident, but if you are an admirer of firebog house design and lifestyle or just up for a party, come along!

Please register in this post if you are planning to decorate a housing block or street for us to visit as part of the tour. If you are decorating please take screenshots as these things can sadly disappear. If you are not going to be online at the time of the bash, you can take part by decorating and posting a screenshot in this post. I hope we'll have plenty of memories! If you aren't a firebog dweller, I'm sure there are streets not much frequented by the existing residents which you could decorate if you are enthused by this project.

Note for decorators: pigs will eat anything you put in front of them so balcony pigs may have to be moved or smallified, so that they don't eat the decorations.

  • Lovely picture Jess, shows really well how great bog balconies look dressed up! By the way, if a whole street is too much for anyone, you could just do a house or two, but do take part!

  • Oh wow! That is one stellar picture Jess. good job and that looks fun and it is sad to see this go for ppl that like the style and the space.

  • Lowland Track 4542 is decorated and awaits the party.

I hereby say farewell to not only a lovely house, but also to a wonderful, much treasured location.

(I hope this wonderful idea will not attract any of those Unglitchy people who were roaming the new house streets lately. There is nothing worthwile stealing from the decorated front porch, but then again, that was true for most of the things which vanished from the new streets...)

  • This is absolutely going to be a party to remember so please do spread the word!

If you would like to make a contribution or need any support for your own ideas, please feel free to add and contact me.

More attractions to be announced- but you can be sure there will be fun, games, surprising eats & drinks and scraping and squelching aplenty (ooer!)

So grab your most colourful party outfit (and sensible shoes) and get ready for more news soon!

  • Thanks for the great response, look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Heroic of you, Louis, to have decorated already but I hope you got a screenshot, as things don't always last so long...if others plan to decorate might be better nearer the time and take screenshots too before you set off for the boggy banquet (location will be in this post close to start time).

We have made lots of food and drink but if anyone wants to bring either gurly drinks or pumpkin ale, or a rainbow potion along with them, that would be wonderful :)

I hope to be at the party; perhaps we can all demonstrate and build barriers against the bulldozers too!

  • Please excuse my ignorance, but when are the firebog houses going to be wiped? I recently purchased one for myself and this is news to me (unless you are referring to the new housing changes affecting everyone, though even so I'm not sure when that's supposed to take place).

  • Xanadhi, we're living in the End Times of bog housing. Enjoy it hard and fast! The housing switch spares no Glitch.
Posted 8 months ago by Aleph Zero Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Xanadhi:

"Soon " all the housing will be reset. There will be no housing in the World, on Ur itself. Only the new housing. The one that Stoot described as a pretzel in your head

There are many posts here about it, so do read up on all the staff posts. And be warned that your slash house will be reset to a blank. You will have buy/craft everything. What you have now was provided free for testing purposes

  • Petra - you most certainly aren't the only one unhappy to lose your house - this is a fond farewell as I, and others, don't really want to see them go...

However they are going, and we're just trying to make the best of it and give them a good send off! The party should be fun and I hope you'll join us.

ETA: and, as we've been told by staff...no warning will be given, so best to celebrate them while we've still got 'em!

  • I got a bunch of screen shots of the party launch point, but I'll have to stitch them all together to show the magnitude of Violet's work.

This captures only part of the magic.

I know others took shots of other locations, so I hope to see some of that soon.  I missed a couple of stops on the tour.

For those who missed the whole thing, the event featured bog-centric treats, a bog-wide art tour, bog trivia, bog games, and a pit stop in which some Glitches may or may not have pooped on stoot's house.

I'll try to post more images later.  The snapshotty thing takes my computer forever to process, but I did try to use the camera a bit, so I'll post some of those as well.

I'd like to thank Violet, who put this all together with just a couple of days' planning and some help from myself, Elfers, and others.  It was exhausting but fun.

Plus art is good for you.  Lots of vitamins.  Soggy ones.

Oh, and this was my entry in the art exhibit.  Going for something a little different.  A little more devolved.

  • @Biff, looks like someone had a bad lab day! Thanks for the pics. @Poppy, thanks for the pointer. I had seen it, but it didn't really sink in.

  • To get an idea of how extensive Violet's bogsplosion was, check out this NASA-style mosaic of her street during the event.

Sadly, my paste fu was lacking and I recorded everything in a crappy resolution, but I suppose the file is large enough as it is.

This is what the party looked like from space.

  • Good shots Biff!  I had a great time.  We traveled through several Bog locations and saw so many beautiful decorations.  This was a wonderful tribute to the Bog quarters!  Thank you Violet, it was a great idea and I am so glad to have seen some of the Quarters all decked out.  I love the new housing but will miss the old Quarters terribly.  We will have parties on out own streets but we may never enjoy the community effort put into parties in the Quarters again.  The is a great memory to add to my collection.  Thank You!

  • Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh - anyone fancy a Bogbeer? I know I could do with one meself! Last night was at times crazy and chaotic, and many of us were suffering with lag, but the tour worked well and there were some breathtaking moments. I was really moved by people's efforts, and had a great time touring around with a lovely bunch of glitchen. So a big THANK YOU to everyone who decorated, toured, nibbled the boggy banquet or came along for part of the ride and big love and hugs to Elfers and Biff Beefbat who helped create and display the boggy banquet shown in Biff's picture and coordinate the whole evening, and to Brib Annie, who as an honorary firebogger for the night did so much to help out.

It worked! I feel like we really used the potential of these street spaces to decorate and party and, once we are no longer in the housing, whenever that might be (and I feel it is ominously close) I won't have so many regrets! Thanks for the memories everyone!
