Test Notes: 23 August

What's up this test? Is it going to be a long one like last week?! Well, no, it will be until Friday afternoon, our time. (We'll come back to a long one later though.)

We don't have a lot in the way of new stuff to announce right now (though dozens of bugs have been fixed and many server and client performance tweaks have been made) but here's what is happening:

• You can now see who is present in a group chat by using the “/who” command which you can invoke by typing the following (on its own line) into the chat window:

/who

(The forward slash is not optional.)

It works on group chats, and the local location you are on via the Local Chat/Activity. It does not work for Global Chat or Live Help.

• Races: We are taking the rock familiar out of the equation- races will now be solely offered through Game Tickets, and you can repeat them as many times as you want.

• Note: We have been monitoring the communications of the Rook squadrons. We have not cracked the full code, but we can tell you that they have been contemplating visiting more of you in this round. MOAR ROOK?! Maybe! We'll see....

• You'll now have a higher chance of getting Street Creator trophies, as we have raised the probability you would get some Trophy Pieces which were very hard to obtain.

We are likely to have more as the test progresses and as we add more, we’ll update this thread!

  • @Fokian: In that picture, the shallow focus slightly obscures the board game Settlers of Catan. http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/13/the-settlers-of-catan

  • Loved the rook attacks! Went to my first two this test. :)

  • I love the rook attacks too, but I'd love them alot more if they lasted at least 10 times longer.

(That would bring them to what, 5 minutes?)

  • Yeah, the rook attacks are utterly pointless right now.  I teleported to three separate ones, only to have everything wrapped up by the time I got there each time.  They last maaaybe 2 minutes now?

One lasted about as long as necessary for a hen to incubate an egg.  I thought I had that much time.

Once I saw something going on over a shrine, but by the time I was able to click on it (and not the herd of Glitches standing in front of it), it was over, so I still haven't see what you're supposed to do.

All I've seen is the angry bird in the middle top of the screen, and a couple of times I saw birds fly horizontally by.  The museum implied there would be some kind of fight, but this is kind of like searching for the last of an endangered predator with spy satellites and then nuking them from orbit.  Not much for a simple Glitch to do.

I didn't link the source because I wasn't sure TS employees wanted their player base to know what they looked like etc... was just being precocious. Glad you did it and not me :)

    @Biff

I was in the rook attack in Groddle Meadows (doon street) yesterday and it was over in less than 4 minutes... 5 "stuns" to the crow, prime shrine and send'em back... doesn't take long. Was cool to see my glitch all electrified during the stun attack though... took 50 energy per "strike". However, I DO think the crow(s) should do more damage to both glitches and to the surroundings in the map... kill piggies, butterflies and/or trees. Shake it up a bit more and get the street maker crews in to fix things afterwards.

  • I learned Piety so I could help with the rooks.  I ran to where two attacks were, and clicked when it said "click to Prime".  Lag was terrible.  I'm not sure if I actually did anything to help the defense.  I got a message that the rooks were defeated so quickly it might have been over before I actually clicked.  Is there a message that says "you have successfully primed" so we know what's happening?

  • @Mereret

I honestly felt the same way: Didn't know if what I was doing helped and just did what seemed natural: Follow the guided messages for Meditate/Stun Attack + Prime

I agree it would be nice to have something that says: "Thank you! YOU helped!"
