Items in towers sell better than auctions?

Okay, so this is probably a dumb question, but I was away from Glitch for about a year, so the whole tower thing is pretty new to me. My question is whether or not selling items from your tower has proven to be more lucrative than listing them on the auction house. I know a lot of work goes into building a tower, and that certainly doesn't deter me, but is there real money to be made in selling things from your tower, compared to just listing auctions?

It is for all of us!

But currently yes, things are selling better from the SDBs in towers than in the Auctions. But it is still a novelty, none of us will know the real answer to this for several weeks yet

  • You also have to have people coming to your street or do advertisement... Which lots hate so ugh.
That's the only real con I can think of.

  • I disagree...

Untrue. There are such places as Glitch Remote and GlitchMarket (and doubtless others) that keep track of what is sold in SDBs and where. Looking for something? Go there and see who sells it and at what price.

  • Also it is much simpler to buy in bulk from SDBs in towers than stack by stack at the AH.

  • You don't take the risk on the auction fee in your tower either.

  • Towers benefit the buyer by not having a 10 minute delay on delivery.

Also, towers benefit the seller by not having a listing cost. (When I go on a spending spree I often spend _all_ my currants and then I am unable to put anything up for auction. But it is free to put something up for sale in your tower.)

  • I still use the auctions to buy and sell some items, but the towers are fun. I make a few currants here and there with my tower store, but mostly I enjoy visiting all the other towers and seeing how creative people can be. And yes, I buy from those tower stores when something appeals to me. My goal in Glitch is to have fun playing the game; the towers are one facet of the game. I also harvest as many resources as I can on the streets I visit. That's another facet of the game. Oh, yeah, I also go out into the world of Ur. There's a lot to do out there!

  • I love auctions!  It's fun to see how prices change and when to sell... when to buy.  Just another aspect of the game, you are right, Mollie

thank you San Serif for the links to those sites

  • in the new GlitchRemote Economy chart and numbers... you can compare how many times an item sold in the last hour/day/two days and a chart of the last 48 hours with the price with "two lines/series", so you can compare SDB and Auction price
    for example Egg:
