Have anyone else found themselves quite house bound once they bought a house? Tending the animals, tending the plants, moving stuff around, using the tools you've got locked up in storage...
I only spend time in my house when I'm in a crafting mood. Although I carry all my tools with me so I don't usually need to be at my house.. but I prefer being there while I cook or make drinks.
I will come back to my house periodically throughout the day (or play time) to collect from the milker, meat collector and to harvest/replant crops. But I don't just sit around in my house waiting for them to fill up/grow.
In short, no, I'm not housebound at all, nor was I initially when I got my house after reset.
Yes! That's how I felt after I purchased a mid-level home during beta. In fact, that's the reason I am currently at level 26 and do not yet own a home. I still have 4 or 5 slots available for bigger bags (can you put bags in *every* inventory slot) so I don't have that urgency. Now that I have an icon and a pumpkin I have a small yearning for a house. At this time I am looking to save up for a 50,000 currant house (so I won't feel like moving for a while) and am nearly there.
Teleportation helps, especially now that you can set a t-port location inside your house. It means you can wander around and do whatever, knowing that you can pop home when you need to.
Yes I'm house bound! I do have Tp4 which gets me out of the house, and usually pooped, but my main source of income comes from my house, and nothing like mining etc. Even when I"m at a party, I just make it full and leave. I'm just not interested in anything that doesn't give new xp lol.
I so have the feeling of moving to some sort of tower near more of society, but I live in swamp Malibu with other famous peeps and it is very resource rich.
I gave up on crops and decided to just buy the food I needed. There is little point in having animals without Remote Herdkeeping. Right now I have a sweet little bog house - fireflies are nice to have in one's home, the rooms are all sweetly decorated, and the herb garden - well, I gave up on trying to make money with it, and I haven't found an herb yet that was worth the trouble, so I just planted the ones with the prettiest flowers.
All I use my house for is to stack up my excess inventory.
I think to a certain extent a large home can be a bit of a burden as in real life. I feel like I ought to harvest the trees, empty the meat collectors, harvest and tend the garden etc before I go out and the next thing I know 1/2 hour (IRL) has gone. That's before I've fiddled around with my inventory, which I always need to do after all that harvesting(!) so I know where you're coming from.
Sometimes I just teleport straight out to the other side of Ur and forget about it all...
My usual pattern is that I go home when I have either
filled my inventory with stuff that I want to store (emblems, music blocks, cubimals etc.)
run out of most of the food supplies that I carry on me
I go home long enough to harvest what's grown, replant the garden, and craft all of the food and drink I plan to carry. When I'm out, I don't worry about the notes that tell me when the crops are ripe, and I don't keep pigs, because I don't want them to starve. That way I don't feel obligated to go home because I have to tend something there; I wander the world exploring, gathering, crafting and donating.
Since I play only at weekends, I usually log-in only for an hour or two during weekdays. So I'm pretty much housebound during weekdays --- harvesting/planting herbs, replenishing the food of my piggies, collecting jellisacs/barnacles. Then when the weekend comes, I go out and sell my harvested resources.
