Did you swipe the 100+ common cubimals on parade?

Well, they were meant to be a present for someone, and it was a crummy thing to do.  They aren't really worth anything, and you destroyed a fun project that many people contributed to.  If that was not your intention, I hope you'll put them back.  If it was, I hope you feel really rotten about now.

  • Oh no larky, they were so cute and fun to play with. :(

  • Sounds like a cool project, did someone take pics? Also was there a note explaining it to passerby?

  • PS, to everyone who helped... I adore you all!

There were lots of notes explaining that it was a special present.  I have pictures of a similar parade, but not this particular one.  (My old parade lasted for several days before I took it down, so I thought this one might last similarly long, or at least until eggplant logged on to see it.  But no.)

Also, if you want to return the cubimals or help rebuild, I will happily accept them by mail or in person if you catch me while I am on.  No blame, no splanking, no questions asked, just want to set up the happy times again.

  • Sorry if I don't understand, but they can be taken while racing? Or were they just on the ground. Side question, I know.

Good luck on replacing them. Not in to collecting them yet or I'd donate some.

  • you're never going to get them back.

larky, your parades look like they are completely awesome, but a recipe for heartbreak until we get group islands.

  • Boo!!

  • Sadly, I think @striatic is right. The fact that the person never owned up to it is telling itself. Were you present through the entire activity? Could you identify who all was present? Etc. Being clearly able to name likely persons creates a better chance of recovery, but it's still not guaranteed. :(

I once proposed a more substantial system of "ground locking" than is currently implemented that would prevent this kind of problem. Wish we could get it..

  • That sucks, always a risk but pox on the little (&$#)&&$)#*% fun thief.

  • "Someone" was probably "someones" or else one really rotten Glitch went and dumped all their stuff so they would have over a hundred open slots. I rarely have more than 10 open slots at a time - so either this was planned or a gang. In either case - shame on them.

  • What a beautiful picture! Love the idea. Sadly I've learned from gaming that if it's not nailed down, someone will take it & sell it. They don't see the awesomeness. They're blinded by a few extra currants/coins/gold in their pocket.

  • Hi larky -

Sorry this has happened to you......

If you agreed to a third party accepting these returned items from the person who took them, with the guarantee that the returning person's identity-name will be kept confidential, then she-he might be more willing to return them to you.

I would be willing to offer my time to help with this, and if you agree, please acknowledge that you and I do not know each other and have never (to my knowlege) talked inGame.

    Just a thought,

    MM

  • They probably disappeared at the start of the new day. That happens if no one is in the zone at the time.

  • Sorry to be a bit off topic, but how did you get people's level to show up beside their name?

I have never heard of that happening - I thought dropped items stayed on the ground unless someone picked them up... Is this something new?

  • No it is not new, items dropped on the ground will stay there forever unless someone picked them up or the staff removes it.

  • @Original Poster:

I am on the wagon of, the risk you take when you set items down in a public space, I do sympathize and am willing to make a 25 cubimal donation to your recovery cause.  I'll send you a message in game to arrange a meeting time.

best of luck in recovering your cubimals.

  • @Macs: Thanks for the confirmation - that's the way I thought it worked.
Posted 13 months ago by Varaeth Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Right, I know there is no mechanism to prevent anybody from taking them, but the fact that my other one lasted so long made me hopeful.

In any case, I will certainly not out anybody who returns cubimals; their names will be kept confidential.  I am also happy to take them from a third party.  I will treat them just like new donations to the cause.

To reiterate, most of the cubimals were not "mine".  Many many people chipped in to make a beautiful thing; I was just coordinating.

Bashere, it is simply not true that items disappear at new day if nobody is there.

Finally, thanks again to everyone who has contributed!  Please send only commons for the parade, we don't want there to be any incentive to swipe them!

  • How do you know if you're not there?
Posted 13 months ago by Bashere Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I think I can say with quite a bit of certainly that my first cubimal parade wasn't replaced on each of the 10+ new game days it survived through.  Same with gifts left outside neighbors' doors.

Also, devs have said that items (with very few exceptions) do not expire.

  • :(  I was afraid that would happen.  It was fun while it lasted, and it was really sweet of you to try to make a parade for Eggplant, Larky.
Posted 13 months ago by Marebito Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Stupid thief / thieves. What do you expect to gain from this? The value of each cubimal was very small since they were all common ones.

Put them back, please. Or at least gimme my lil' firefly back. Thief.

  • whoever stole them may not read the forums.

why would they return the cubimals to you? to make you feel better? if they cared about anyone's feelings they wouldn't have nabbed them in the first place.

  • In the end I really enjoyed the Cubimal Parade.  Thanks to everyone that was involved in making it happen! I was so surprised!
Posted 13 months ago by eggplant Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yep, with a little magic and a lot of helpers, we got the surprise back on track :)
Posted 13 months ago by larky lion Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It is possible some n00b happened upon them, thought s/he had found the magic cubimal motherlode, and told a bunch of friends.

I think that if I wandered upon them, however, no matter how n00bly, I would also take note that it was a residential street and feel weird about grabbing ALL OF THEM.

How sad. I'm sorry someone nabbed your toys.
