Will there be things to buy for credits besides clothes and appearance?

I am just curious, because while I would love to support the game, buying lots of clothes does not really interest me. A few, perhaps, but not hundreds of credits worth.

Will there be other things to buy? Specail animals? Extra telepotation slots? Faster learning?

I might like to decorate the OUTSIDE/public part of my house with something other than a gnome -- it would be nice to be able to personalize those.

So -- bottom line -- there is nothiing YET that I want to spend credits on, although I do like the subscriber series of options.

  • +Stoot.
Thank you so much for this.
I am a HUGE impulse buyer... i know this. No "duping" going on here, just sheer excitement to play and have fun. Love what you have done with the game and i'm nervous/excited for all the devs as this progresses.

Also... to anyone... will we be able to gift clothes? This may have come up and i missed it. Moochos Grassyass.

  • You are all amazing!!!  I know I've said it before, and I'll say it again... but coming from FS, it's so refreshing and makes me so happy to see the true investment you all have in this game!  It never seems like it's "just the money" and you make us feel like we're important enough in this process to be able to have our opinions, concerns and praises matter.  My chicken hats off to all of you!!!  Big hugs and garlic kisses all around!!!

  • stoot, I've brought this up multiple times mostly because you have never, and still haven't, responded as to why token based teleports would work for glitch better than other methods.

I know you've said that you don't want pricing for every moment to feel impulse or "a la carte", as you put it, but nowhere have I suggested that every moment will seem that way. the moments that have the potential to feel that way are important to me though.

sorry to interrupt the +1,000,000,000,000,000,00 but surely there is more to discuss here than whether TS are "good guys" or not. I'm trying discuss issues with integrating spending into the flow of the game. that is a reasonable thing to discuss. seems like no one else, stoot included, wants to talk about it and would rather portray me as taking potshots for no reason, but hey, why discuss a potential issue when we can +kazillion our way to talking about how awesome the game is.

re. "something specific we have done to give you the impression we are trying to deceive and manipulate people" ... of course I never said you had or that you were. tiny speck is a company, with have business goals. there is nothing "deceptive and manipulative" about setting up situations to encourage impulse spending. there is nothing morally wrong with it. I mean maybe if you were exploiting addictive mechanisms of human behavior through gameplay, then MAYBE it could be seen that way, but that's something for mental health researchers to figure out, not entrepreneurs.

what I meant is that I personally loathe being in those situations and find them repulsive. abhorrent. it's a strong word but what I feel in those kinds of situations is a very strong revulsion and I see no reason to downplay how they make me feel.

  • Whoop Whoop Whoop Whoop you go stoot !!! I also would like to extole on striatics negative attitude on the help channel during the game where he loudly proclaims to all the newbies that this game will only last for 6 months because as soon as people figure out what it is they will leave. Has not he been here far longer than that himself and he is still playing, so you know , WTF. Negativity like that on the forums and chat (as all of us FS'ers know) is toxic to the game environment and sucks all the fun out of the whole thing for everyone. Bad, bad, bad for business. It is a privilege and honor to be part of this game at this stage of development while 40K or so people are clamoring at the gates to get in and there is a huge difference between helpful input and just sucking the life out of the place with constant complaints and innuendo.

  • divine. I've never said that.

i've heaped lots of praise on glitch for many months, years now, even.

  • "you might consider waiting and seeing how it actually works"

please. i AM waiting to see how it turns out, and how it turns out might change my mind .. but discussing the implementations are worries about the potential of the thing is something different than rushing to judgment.

"Bull striatic , I caught you last test and told you that you were being toxic at the time. Then I went back to the FSG group and told them about it at the time so ..."

"caught"? who has the negative attitude now? it is flat out incorrect to say that i've been telling players that the game will be gone in 6 months. completely inaccurate. i'll assume you're misremembering, but that is a horrible thing to say i've been saying when i've said nothing of the sort.
Posted 20 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I have nothing against you as a person striatic and you do do alot to help around these parts but from a group psychology perspective your comments are as I said toxic to the health of this game and none of us like it. We love this place and all the devs and Tiny Speck and we most certainly do not want to see it go to hell in a hand basket like FS did for just these reasons.
Posted 20 months ago by Divine~ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • first off, please retract your statement about me telling new players the game will be dead in 6 months. flat out untrue. using it as the basis for calling me a hypocrite for having been testing for a prolonged period is a very negative thing for you to do.
Posted 20 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Okay, so striatic's comments are often negative, but at least his feedback is constructive.
Posted 20 months ago by Hburger Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Caught as in , proof against your denial. Maybe you just don't remember and were just spouting what was going through your head at the time. Just please try to consider the repercussions of what you are saying , especially to the newbies. At any rate there is no reason to stand here and yes you did , no I didn't all day. I do believe that like most games of this nature that there is a recorded record of everything.
Posted 20 months ago by Divine~ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • i never said such a thing, and your "assertion" is not proof.

    now take back your statement.

i never said anything of the sort to the newbies.
Posted 20 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • There is nothing constructive about voicing the same complaints over and over especially when the designers have stated that what is being complained about is or is not within the vision of the design of the game. That is not to say that stri doesn't indeed provide valid and helpful input also.

    SOOOO....
I'm very curious as how "teleportation" tokens would work. Does have the potential for breaking group activities (right now, just projects), but with significant cool down and a daily limit could solve a lot of that.

    Balance. Always balance.
Posted 20 months ago by Lord Bacon-o Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Lord Bacon-o, how do you mean breaking group activities?
Posted 20 months ago by Piece of Serenity Subscriber! | Permalink
  • what striatic said in help chat was something along the lines of that the game will be fun for the first 6 months until it catches on and becomes popular and changes.  not that it won't last in existence.

also, calling somebody toxic is not exactly antidote, eh?
Posted 20 months ago by katlazam Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I will not . Because as it upset me greatly at the time I remember quite distinctly.
Posted 20 months ago by Divine~ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • and please, yes, clothes gifting is a must!
Posted 20 months ago by katlazam Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The game will not change once it becomes popular, which I can say with complete confidence. I don't know if that was ever actually said by Striatic, but that's my response to that statement in general.
Posted 20 months ago by Cupcake Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I did not call striatic toxic, I said his statement was toxic. There is a difference.

  • fun is subjective :)

    gifting clothes would be fun!
Posted 20 months ago by katlazam Subscriber! | Permalink
  • divine, i'm not complaining to the devs every time i mention a problem. when i write a comment, it is as part of a conversation to react to other people's thoughts and see what the reaction will be to mine, and introduce and evolves new thoughts and conversations about how the game works or how it ought to. just because i mention something more than once doesn't mean i'm screaming at the top of my lungs to get the attention of the developers.
Posted 20 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Striatic said that help chat comment in response to something I said.  His was along the lines of how the community would go way downhill in 6 months.  I also remember the toxic line, but I didn't find his comment to be toxic at the time since that's the way new social sites always go.  Truth hurts.  But could we make the forums about the game and not the players?  Yes, I know I'm being contradictory. ;)
Posted 20 months ago by Tingly Claus Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Piecemaker. Well, not breaking. But two teleportation points gives on significant advantage over folks with one. "Oh, we're short on paper and this and that." Someone with two can pop back and forth very quickly.

Admittedly, right now with two people and good use of the auction, you can do the same thing now. BUT since someone has a chance to grab and auction item before you do AND since you can't give currants, it is harder to work out... and only the person at the project site would get the credit.

Personally, I don't care AT ALL if something purchased gives someone a big advantage in solo activities. Doesn't effect me. If they wish to short cut and not "do the work," fine. But it took me forever to get to a project before all the ingots were given to complete that one quest... that would get significant more difficult with folks with unlimited teleportation between two locations.

  • Can I use credits to buy a noose? For forum use only, as this is getting to be unbearable.

    :)

Please open the game soon, as I fear for my safety. The forums are such a nice place when the world is open.

  • So according to the Mystic (formerly known as Striatic)... the game will be fun for 6 months then get big then change and... not be fun?

  • curious about whether credits will be used to access exclusive areas in the game.  i felt like the devs had said this is not in the works, but i seem to remember a recent interview where stoot mentioned this as a possibility.

this would make me sad, especially if was no in-game economy or other means of being able to play your way in somehow.

  • nuknuk. that isn't what i said either.

    jeez louise you guys.

tingly generally has it right although i don't remember saying or implying that it would go "way" downhill. but he was paraphrasing and i'm sure the tone could have been interpreted that way, fairly.

it was all part of a longer conversation related to the nature of community, in game novelty, player vs. devolper base content creation speed and yada yada yada bla bla bla but it wasn't an apocalyptic diatribe about the game's ultimate doom.
Posted 20 months ago by striatic Subscriber! | Permalink
  • not to contribute to the derail any longer, but i will again clarify that i paraphrased and that fun is subjective, as was the original sentiment expressed.
Posted 20 months ago by katlazam Subscriber! | Permalink
  • " His was along the lines of how the community would go way downhill in 6 months."

I remember reading all this at the time (unless it's played out a number of times, in which case I remember one of them). It was just a bunch of off-the-cuff comments in which striatic expressed his current opinion of how the community would play out. I forget the full details, but it was basically along the lines that the first six months of the game would be fun whilst everyone was fresh and enthusiastic, and then it would get less fun.

I didn't (and still don't) agree with this view, but it certainly didn't come across as 'toxic'. It was just stri being stri. It certainly didn't seem like a big deal at the time I read it - just an opinion being expressed. I'm not sure why it's such a big deal now.

  • I will concede that I may have missed part of the conversation and hence didn't catch the intended full nuance of the context as he intended it. And like I said I have nothing against Striatic , I do however have a huge problem with unfruitful negativity in general and what it does to a gaming atmosphere. The whole point is it's supposed to fun and if the atmosphere in general is not fun it has huge effects no matter how great the game is. That being said I am going back to the clinic now. Carry on.
Posted 20 months ago by Divine~ Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yeah, that's fair. (to stri's last post about my last post)  The fruitfulness is just to sorta prepare us for how the community will play out.  I've never seen an online community that didn't play out that way. Stri and I have witnessed it together on multiple websites.  It's also an example of how I continually break the 'help channel for help topics' rule, but it's never on purpose short of the end of tests.  I'm just really forgetful at times, but I'll get a handle on it one of these days.
Posted 20 months ago by Tingly Claus Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Without wanting to go into the merits of statements made on this thread, I would like to suggest that there is a time and a place for feedback. Any type of feedback, i.e. positive or negative. This is a beta TEST, a phase during which players are specifically asked to give feedback and voice ideas or initiatives. We cannot all agree but I would like to think that Tiny Speck, Glitch and the Glitchers will value diversity & inclusiveness like many businesses do nowadays. Not only on the workfloor, but also in the in-game community. Glitch should be a place where Glitchers respect one another and respectfully voice their opinion and respectfully listen to one another as every voice adds to this wonderful community.

  • Lord Bacon-o, re "But two teleportation points gives on significant advantage over folks with one ...  it took me forever to get to a project before all the ingots were given to complete that one quest... that would get significant more difficult with folks with unlimited teleportation between two locations."

Additional skills — Teleportation II and Teleportation III — are being added "soon" and they will give people additional saved points to which they can teleport. This has nothing to do with *teleportation tokens* (which will allow teleport to places other than those on your list of saved locations).

So, that "problem" will exist in any case. But, if the world is a few times larger and has many more projects going at the periphery pushing the world in all kinds of different directions (rather than a single set of projects available at a given time) I don't think it will be a problem at all.
