Multiply by zero = Going away giveaway.

*** Winners announced below! ***

I've enjoyed my time with Glitch, but it feels like the current shift is towards crafting an experience for newer players. A lot of us have stuck around for a long time — meaning a lot of things with the game work well — but it feels like there is less of a place to do something new, or something unique that is earned by investing time into the game. As simple as they were, the quoin multipliers were one of these things. There isn't much for us longer term players to try to achieve — aside from trying to amass enough currants to buy a dusty stick, or a glitchmas yeti, neither of which is guaranteed.

At least I can say there was a moment where I collected a high value quoin worth over 20,000img, but, today, that day has come to and end.

Before I depart the world of Ur, I am going to give away everything I own. Including:

- Fun Pickle / stoot barfield, for making a game that hooked me early and for a long time (Hint: this is sort of like one of those big payouts that goes to a celebrity that they then donate to someone else.)
- GNG / Buttercup✿, a song for a song.

- Full set of dolls / Pirate Apples, perhaps they will remind you to be mindful in the moment.

- Full set of cubmials / Graceful Glitchen, keep free versing.

- Full set of icons / Kouki Sangoma the gods can be helpful even to those that are new(er) devotees.

- A bunch of emblems (including full set) / OMG BACON!! the emblems aren't bacon, but they will have to do.

- 900,000+ currants / bumblepuppy, I ran out of time to grind back to 1,000,000 currants, so I hope you will settle for slightly less.

- 50 get out of hell free cards / railroadbaron, you seem to be particularly fond of the concept of “hell“.

Rather than the typical random draw, players are encouraged to write about something that they love/hate about the game. Each person I choose will receive one of the groups of items listed above. Points will be awarded for creativity. I will distribute the good on Monday.

Update 1: Posts slagging people for (rage) quitting over changed functionality definitely won't be winning — unless they are particularly creative. Maybe a haiku? However, these (rage) posts are amusing, so keep them coming!

Update 2: Thanks for all the kind words. The decision to leave is final, though I'm not doing it just because of the quoin multipliers. It's also about wanting to devote time to other things. Glitch has become a part of my routine, and I don't want it to feel that way. Simply routine. There is a chance I will come back to see what changes have been made in a few months time, but giving these things away in Glitch is a reminder that it can be done in the real world too.

Disclaimer: Point multipliers will be limited to 1.

  • Darn. I'll miss you Aleph1!

Well, what I love is how much TS works on Glitch every week just to satisfy us, and I hate about how they limited the Quion cap too.... Was planning for it to be reeeeaally high.

  • I really love the friendliness of players but sometimes there is people you have to block because of discrimination and stuff. Everyone is wonderful, and no matter who you are, you fit in!

  • I'll miss you aleph, I'm sorry that you're leaving.

I love making/maintaining contacts. I hate when they leave, or when you can't tell what happened to someone that has taken an undeclared break or leave.

Btw, you do know that there less than 4-5 weeks left for changes to come through, right? (And then more changes after that, I think.)

  • Here is what I love/hate about the game - my fellow players - especially the ones that hang out in global.  Some days I want to kill them.  Some days I want to hug them.  Never in the middle.

    That is all.

  • Hi. I'm sorry to see you go. I know there've been a lot of changes lately, but the one thing that's stayed the same is the community of people that play Glitch week in and week out. I mean, people have gotten married after meeting on this game.
So I guess that's what I love most about Glitch: the awesome players. It makes all the changes a mere bother.

  • :( Awn, I'm sorry to see you go :/

Though I had a small quoin multiplier and wasn't above 100x, it's is really annoying that TS is nerfing everything.

What I hate: I hate that they nerfed many awesome pot recipes before the change to iMG. I really miss making proper rice, oaty cakes and sauces. I used to had a great time seeing how much xp I would get from doing those stuff and it used to made me so happy, cause I love to make something that I don't have to struggle for hours to then get the results.

I loved it because it was simple, and quick and it made me happy, I would never get stressed, and I miss it so badly. Good old times...

Now it seems things are getting harder and harder. :(
And I didn't expect it to be nerfed, I was hoping to someday to get above 150 or more, it would have been amazing, I suppose. :/

The biggest thing I love just like others is the Glitch community, the players, many of them are so amazing and kind and friendly. That's what I love.

Now daily things that makes me happy and look foward to do everyday on Glitch is:

I love decorating my home, I simply love decoration in rl as well in games so I'm beyond happy of all the great artwork they've put on it and it's just makes me happy to tweak the design of my home a bit each day. I love and wait anxiously for each daily meeting with Rube.

I love eating purple sno cones, I love when I go to Flipside and see that the high iMG coins and mood coins are untouched, and then I want to scream 'wheeeeeeee' because I'm just happy I arrived in time. I love when I'm lucky enough to see Rube twice a day if I explore a lot.

I love to arrive on a street and see that a Qrazy coin is waiting for me. I love redealing my cards everyday because of the thrill of it and I wish there was more many more upgrade cards.

And I love when I'm lucky to spend an amazing time hanging out with nice glitchens. Those little things are guilty for me wanting to play Glitch a bit everyday but sometimes I simply hate that they love to nerf everything I like. RL is already very hard, I'm not a person that enjoys struggling or having to work very very hard in a game. I'm already very stressed with RL, and don't want to be stressed while playing. That makes me a bit sad The coins seemed infinite and I was looking foward everyday to get enough iMG to manage to buy at least one 40k card. Like, finally something pratical, simple and great! Now.. :(

  • I really enjoy Glitch because it is so deep. I joined around six months ago after the first full release, and I have enjoyed every second of this game. I mined, traded, bargained, friended, sprinted, drank, concocted, cooked, learned, forgotten, and shuffled all the way to where I am right now. I can never be bored during Glitch. I truly love everything about it and I am sad about this change, as I was hoping for a massive multiplier like many of you extra-high-level players. I love running around meeting people and mining together. I enjoy scraping barnacles, expanding my house, and delight in squeezing every last grain from every chicken I see. I really love looking at other peoples' snapshots of their houses, and saying to myself, "I really wish I had x many currants!" I like it how you can meet new people so easily in the game through notes left on the ground or global chat or community hangouts like Ajaya Bliss or Cebarkul.

One thing that I love about the game was its expanse. Or, rather, its pure size. From the firebogs to Aranna, from Ix to Magha Shank, there are so many places to explore and so many people to meet along the way. I met cubimal traders, had my share of grand theft GNG, and have amassed musicblock after musicblock throughout my Glitchen life.

And I'm not stopping here. I'm grinding out img for sexy and shiny upgrade cards, making money for my goal of getting to 10 million currants, and every day meeting new people for cubimal trades, gaming discussion, and barnacle scraping.

I hope many of the new changes in store for us form Tiny Speck are for the better, and I wish you luck in gaming.

  • I think leaving because of the limit seems a little... trivial. This is not a slight against your character as a person and I truly apologize if it comes off that way. I also apologize if it seems like I'm minimizing your grievances. See, to me, Glitch is a wonderful game and it allows a unique gaming experience in that you set your own goals and determine your own "schedule". It's this freedom and flexibility that makes it stand out, I think. However, it is by no means a perfect game, and there will be many aspects that people dislike. I, for one, dislike the new "moving you closer" to complete actions. Often times, they are minor things that are merely annoying, other times they induce people to leave the game. That being said, I'm just not sure if the img quoin limit is worth leaving a wonderfully made game because it represents such a small aspect of the entire gaming experience. There's plenty more to do. After I achieved level 60 pre-change, I stopped playing for a while because there was not much else to achieve. But now, there's so much to do - furniture making, new animals and the prospect of new quests. All this is bringing Glitch closer to the game it's meant to be and with that comes growing pains or learning experiences for the staff. This is my humble opinion.

All in all, I hope you stay so that all of us can continue to enjoy the game as it is now and the game as it will be. :)

  • I love that the game gets such committed and invested players—people who care and think deeply about it. I hate that sometimes that degree of investment makes players feel like leaving when a change comes to something they have built an identity or purpose around.

My hope is that we'll all see Glitch for its beauty as a work-in-progress and find new and intriguing ways to be at play in the fields of Ur.

Oh, and I hear Senor Funpickle is awesome.

  • Yeah the Multiplier nerf came out of nowhere, and they posted in a way as if we were SUPPOSED to know it was supposed to be capped, but we really didn't. What end-game player wants to spend iMG on an energy tank when it makes your mood more unmanageable? What end-game player needs brain capacity upgrades, when you already know everything, and the new skill that came out was only like 3 days with only the basic set of BC upgrades?

Quion Multiplier upgrading was a nice goal that seemed otherwise infinite. It was something worth getting for an end-game player. Now they not only capped it, but reduced what people already upgraded down to 100x (if they were higher), saying 'ok, the road stops RIGHT HERE'. It was just slapped in our faces without warning that 'ok btw your QMs are now nerfed! all your hard work to get it higher than 100x was wasted. k cya'. They even tacked on a 'we shoulda done this sooner', as if saying we shoulda known better than to raise our QMs so high! (How were we supposed to know that it was "meant" to be capped?).

    So yeah, what now?

  • I love the game because of its creativity and unique but i really hate it when more and more skills are coming. It is like you have to learn everything to do what you like. Want to cook? Learn it. Want to mine? Learn again. And my time penalty for skills had gone to 2170% and i cant imagine how long i am going to learn once new skills are released =.=

  • This is the first game where I just learned as I went, having no particular goals. I found my way here during a difficult time in my life and was comforted by the beauty of the lands and the cooperativeness of the Glitchen I found in my travels. I love the kindness and creativity I find here.

I am missing my old neighborhood Seems odd not to have to save energy to teleport home or catch the subway.  Somehow that makes it difficult for me to plan a destination for the day. With resource routes (which are great) it seems the world is emptier. I hardly see anyone in Callopee these days.

Change is inevitable and I must adjust to it. I stay for the community. I have met some awesome people here. Sorry to see you go.

I've been loving the new upgrade cards, especially the quoin multipliers, and I've been trying to gain iMG like crazy to get new cards, not to mention questing to get enough materials to upgrade my house.

If you should decide to come back at some point (yes, yes?), I'll be happy to return your goods to you (assuming any of them fall into my hands *wink*).  Shall I build a shrine to Aleph?  Oh yes, I think I shall :D

  • I love what I have dubbed Cranky Stoot from the "game's closed" thread this week. I laughed so hard!

I loved the start of this game, I played non stop every single (oh-so-brief) test. I would skip meals and sleep and blinking just to keep playing.

I loved the mad dash at the end of the era of xp to get to level 60, and I loved helping others in their mad dashes once mine was done.

I love the resource routes and the sense of community they demonstrate.

I love the silly puns, and the bad puns, and the dirty puns. All the puns. And normally I hate puns!

I love the way that some shrines give me silly imaginary swear words when I donate a lot at once.

I hate the lack of direction I am experiencing as a higher level player.
I hate that the new housing amused me for less than 48 hours, and the upgrade cards amused me for only a few days.
I am anxious for the return of the Invite button, so that I can maybe try to experience this whole new world as it was intended, instead of as an old fool rolling around in piles of Stuff, not knowing what exactly to do with it any more.
I hate the meanness that seems to be overtaking the forums and the chats and people's own personal spaces. Maybe it was always there, and I just didn't notice it for a while. I maintain the hope that it will change, but I am doubtful, too.

I hate when you get something really cool, and then it's taken away and "refunded", only there is nothing to buy with the refund you just got. I didn't get affected by the Quoin one, as I wasn't there yet, but that was the Thing I had been focusing my play towards, so I've lost a sense of purpose I suppose. It's trickier to Refund that.

I also hate the way I sound like I am super mopey right now when I am mostly fine. My mopeyness levels could be described as "slightly".

  • I think what I love most about this game is the people, as trite as that is. That's been what drew me to this game from day one. I mean, just look at the threads on here where someone laments about dropping a precious item, and immediately three people who are more well-off in the game offer to replace it. I love the days where I enter the game to find I've been invited to a party and can run around with people just playing around. Even with the updates, people have found a new way to be generous--the resource routes, which I'm pleased to be part of. People even leave their icons on their streets for others to restore themselves--that's just really sweet and unexpected.

I've got one more cubi to find, and then I am done, I am set, all I've got to do is make more SDBs and wait for my bonus credits to come through so I can start prettifying my house. Then I can devote my time to helping people!

  • What I love about Glitch is how nice everyone can be. I've been trying to bring a smile to faces by passing it back around. For instance, today I've spent the day restoring resources, mourning dead Glitches, leaving surprise gifts on doorsteps, and slipping subscription furniture into afk Glitches back pockets :) People have been so helpful to me in the past.

I hope you decide to stay.

  • I'm fairly new to the game and so I've got a small quoin multiplier. It's been a challenge for me to gain iMG as I'm still learning skills and I've already hit my brain cap at 31 skills. I don't intend on learning all the skills however, just the ones I know I'll be using more than others, anything else i need, i'll just ask around, I'm sure there's a Glitch or two willing to aid me.

That said, I've come to love the community for being so helpful to new players and not being called a "noob" even when I make a mistake. I played Game of Crowns with some people from the group and they actually gave me props and encouraged me to play more, I discovered that it's a pretty fun sport after all.

Is there anything I dislike? Well, yeah, there's some people in the community I've found to be relatively unpleasant and not so willing to give a player who hasn't played very long a chance. I've met few rude players, but a few bad apples don't speak for the rest of the bunch.

Overall, whatever you decide to do after Glitch is your choice. I'm not going to ask you to stay nor ask you to leave. It's entirely your choice what you want to do. Where ever you may roam I hope it makes you happy and it's fun to you. That's all that really matters, how YOU feel and what YOU like. Stay well, and be happy, where ever you end up.

  • I dislike nerfs in general. I think that, in a game whose "use your imagination" aspect has been so built up, it feels counter-intuitive to that stated spirit to chop out that capability so often. I get that some nerfs are intended to keep people from exploiting the system... but a lot of them just seem to suck the fun out of whatever activity they're applied to.

On the flip-side of that coin, I love how engaged with the community the staff is, and how closely they pay attention to the ideas and issues people present to them. Doesn't always override what they're planning, and it doesn't mean everybody gets what they want, but the intention to make the game fantastic and to make it appeal to a wide range of people is clear... and it doesn't seem purely commercial, either. I'm not a staff member, and I don't talk to them often, but I appreciate the level of detail and the care that have gone into the game, even if I don't always agree with the decisions made. You can't please everybody; and it's madness to try.

  • I love that Glitch is now and always has been about the fun you make for yourself (and for/with others). At the beginning, I was a player. I loved the game and wanted to become more involved so I became a Greeter. That was fulfilling until Unlaunch when we stopped having as many new players.

I joined the Sandbox Group because they were doing wild things, hacking the game for every ounce of fun to be squeezed out of it. I became a secret agent through them. Then I joined a ghost hunting tour group, joined in on several ghost tours, assisting the leaders and helping out the kids in search of ghosts.

Then, I found the ImaginatUr and starting writing articles about Glitch, incorporating my secret agent experiences and interviewing Gltichen in game.

At every step along the way, there have been moments of boredom in the game but I was always able to find a way to get involved, to do something alongside the game, that relieved the tediousness of sowing, reaping, grinding, building, mining, etc. It's that involvement which has made the game for me since the first day I played.

Dear aleph1, if the game itself is taking a wrong turn for you, your involvement with other players may be a worthy reason to stick around. You make your own fun and it's even more entertaining making fun for others.

  • I love the look, sound, feel, and attitude of the game. I love the contributions of creative Glitchen.

Hate? Well, count me among the babies who just had our favorite candy snatched away. I've got my pout on real good over here.

But really, aleph1, I wish you wouldn't go. Of all the people in this game, you and I might be the best suited to commiserate about our tiny & finite quoin multiplier. Infinite is where it's at. Or where it should be, anyway.

ETA: I didn't write this to get the stuff. I have all of that good stuff. No more stuff for me, thank you <3

  • One thing I love about the game is that when staff sees something in the game that is unfair, broken, bugged, exploitable or just plain ridiculous, like the ridiculously high quoin multipliers were, they fix it so that gameplay is better for everyone. All the little changes they've been making since the big change to imagination have been awesome.

One thing I don't love about the game is how people seem to feel the need to announce their departure on the forums in a giant DRAMABOMB. The stuff giveaways are an awesome glitchy tradition, but I really don't understand the need to tell the whole world when you stop playing a game. The exit whines also seem silly, since why would they change a game to fit the wishes of someone who isn't even playing the game anymore?

I entered the street from the left, my hitherto unknown adversary from the right.
Our goal was central, only one of us could possibly succeed.

With no time for hairball nor spinach, we immediately rushed towards each other at top speed.
There was no room for error, both parties knowing victory was going to the swift.

Within seconds the two flying quoins were visible, and both of us jumped simultaneously.
Crossing in midair, one quoin was taken by each player.

Duel complete, we hurry onwards to the exits in silence, overwhelmed by our encounter.
I got the quoin I had come for, but what of the other?

  • The thing I love most is how incredibly, stupidly, happy it makes me to find something/anything that fellow Glitchen have left in hidden areas (behind trees, bushes, rocks). Even if it is just a bean or a piggy cubimal, I still get this silly rush and a big grin on my face everytime I stumble over another player's "droppings"!

Aleph1 - Thanks for giving everyone the opportunity to share, I wish it wasn't because you were leaving....I didn't get the chance to meet you, but I hope once you've had a chance to get a breather, maybe you'll consider coming back? • I love free stuff and I hate making long posts. Kidding, sort of.

I love the fact that the game has a multitude of ways to be played, viewed, and interpreted. There are people that hoard every things from dolls, to lemons, to an army of cubimals ready to take over the world. Similarly, there are people who play only to mine, or to cook, or to run around nibbling on pigs. It's all rather unique and cool to see the infinite ways one can play a game.

I hate the fact that I find it difficult to find a close net circle of friends/fellow players while remaining mostly a lurker. Oh and I seriously do hate making long posts.

  • Not everything TS has changed in the game has been my absolute favorite, especially not at first, but this is the biggest hissy fit to throw and quit.

It's a BETA TEST! They realized that they were giving out too much img, so they scaled it back to make it a little more competitive. It's not like they waited a year and then said "Hey, screw you all," they just changed something that's part of a BRAND NEW FEATURE. How else would they have known this would give people millions of img a day, unless they tried it, saw it didn't work, and then fixed it?

    Grow the hell up.

  • Aw, Aleph, sorry to hear you're leaving.

One thing that I am loving about the game at the moment is all the hard work Tiny Speck is putting into these changes. I really like that the devs of this game really respond and talk to the players. My experience has been truly different from other games here because of the great developer response to player feedback, complaints, and suggestions. Thank you Tiny Speck! Love ya! *mwah*

One thing I am not liking at the moment is how kind of... well, far apart we've gotten. I only joined this game last September, yet I can sense a significant change in the atmosphere and community since I first arrived. It seems I never run into anyone in world anymore, and when I spot someone, they're hurridly gathering resources and moving on their way. I recall that when I was just a little noob, I had people stopping me to say hello all the time. How will this work out when the game comes out of beta and new glitchen flood the streets?

I really hope you consider all the good things about Glitch. Hope ya stay, Aleph!

  • As we talked in Global, with Stoot included, you should try to remain a bit longer... Stoot said that they are still tweaking things, and if the staff sees the people don't like this, maybe they will increase said "cap".

I think that a game such as this, with such a weight in "imagination" and "no limits" shouldn't have hard caps, but soft caps, even if it means someone would reach a point where they had to grind like, a year to level up or something. Break the current caps in quoins/brain/tank (if the other 2 have such thing) and just increase exponentially the cost at some later points, like already happens... but more.

Maybe a parting note with some tips on timing?

  • Back in November, I started this quest,
played day and night with fury and zest.
I have seen many a Glitch on random streets,
as I travel the globe from west to east.

Frustration abounds, as the game does indeed change
the game I began is no longer the same.
The goals are all different, the future is askew,
but there is one thing that will always stay true...

To keep playing this game, through all of its evolution,
my friends are the reason I endure the confusion.
They keep me laughing, they keep me sane.
They keep me playing this infernal game!

I am Zad the Destroyer, who pillages the fields,
Harvests the trees, nibbles the pigs til they squeal..
I'm not a great chatter, I'm not the best one in Ur,
but the thought of a fun pickle, sent me in a rhyming fervor!!

But in all honesty!  I know how frustrating it is in Beta... things keep changing without warning, and once you work you butt off towards something it gets taken away!!   Don't leave, maybe take a break, enjoy a Glitch Free Weekend and then come back to play with us!!

  • What I love most about this game is the people who play it. The discussion in global is (almost) always sure to bring a smile to my face. This is the collection of the most random, weird, awesome, hilarious bunch of people on the internet. @NoContextGlitch doesn't even begin to describe it.

  • It's great that we're all writing tons of stuff about how great Glitch is, and I agree, great game. But we're all writing stuff because we want to get chosen as the recipient of the funpickle, et.al.

So why don't I just cut to the chase: Will you mail me the funpickle?

    Have a nice day.

  • aww don't leave!

i am not a gamer but have never stuck with something for so long. glitch has kept my attention since october when i first logged in. i love that i don't have to shoot things or navigate a 3d environment. i love that people are most often kind and willing to help and out to have fun. i love the graphics and the humor within the game. i like that it has kept my attention for months (my track record for stick-to-it-iveness is pretty much 0.) i love that my husband and i can sit side-by-side playing games and talking and having great times. i love that i can walk around with a rainbow that just happens to bestow something called "random kindness" on other glitches. i like that i can lurk in global and exit out when it gets fluffy.

i love glitch and i'm excited to see how the world evolves.

  • I love how on the first day of glitch, when I asked in global how to make your inventory bigger, over 35 glitchen either sent me a bag/other present, or came to me and helped me to learn about the game. To his day, this game has the best people working for it that I've ever seen in one place. Each an every glitchen is so nice to each other. I love this game!

  • Oh, I forgot to say... I love how everyone jokes around. If I win the 1,000,000c I will buy a moving box that has an elf in it... The box has cable tv and everything!!

  • The TS staff rocks
Always there to lend a hand
    Never giving up
That's my haiku....here is a free verse titled poop

I once was reading in the forums
    A random conversation
    An elf was talking,
    And this he said:
    "I'd be flattered,
    If someone from glitch
    Went to the trouble
    To poop on my car"
He now is living in a box
    A carless elf he is
He sold it and now guess what?
    He has a unicrorn instead
