  • A trap gave me a meat tetrazinni and then a bandit stole it back like 10 seconds later haha

  • Baqala is fascinating! I'm excited for this quest.. it looks like its going to be quite a treasure hunt/adventure story/goose chase.

  • Is the "Overwhelmed" debuff meant to restart if we leave the world and come back later?
Posted 18 months ago by Homsar Subscriber! | Permalink
  • We should be able to avoid, of fight the bandits somehow...
Posted 18 months ago by Kul Koba Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I jump over them...has worked so far! Can't do much else though...no street projects or anything where you stand around...

  • The overwhelmed buff restarted for me when I reloaded the world.  I tried explaining this in help, but here goes again:

    1.  My time in Baqala was up, so I got punted and got a 30 minute buff.  So far, so good.

    2.  The 30 minute buff ended but the buff remained on the screen with no timer. Bug?

    3. Since the time was up (no countdown), I re-entered Baqala and got booted immediately. Bug?

    4. The old buff was still on my screen with no countdown (recall 2: my 30 timer had already run out, so no countdown, just an empty buff).

    5.  I reloaded.  Then I got a new 10 minute buff.  Bug?  Very annoying bug?

    6.  When that buff ran down, the buff remained on my screen with no countdown as in 2. Bug?

    7.  After two minutes, the no-timer buff finally left my screen and I was able to re-enter Baqala.

  • I logged out with 10min of nostalgia left. When I logged back in I have the full 30 min nostalgia again.

  • I've jumped over most of them... but when he says "I'm coming for your diamonds" it really makes you concentrate!

Completing the quest doesn't seem to make the bandits go away or change the limits on time in/out of Baqala... it's really interesting but also it's scary and I want my Mummy :-(
Posted 18 months ago by Snazzlefrazz Subscriber! | Permalink
  • The quest confused me because I completed it but it seemed to have nothing to do with the region and being able to stay longer, when I could have sworn thats what it had said it would do... I hope its a lead up to something bigger and is not just that.
Posted 18 months ago by Sharmy Knope Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I really like it, it makes it exciting. I just go collecting while I wait out the cooldown. The area is beautiful, I hope they have homes there eventually.
Running from the little green baddies, too funny.
Posted 18 months ago by Phoebe Springback Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Maybe, just maybe, it's the Dev's way of slowing down project completion.
The projects seem to get done at a break-neck pace these days. By introducing an artificial limit on the amount of time we can spend in the region, it extends the duration of the project.

Then maybe the final Baqala project will be something that keeps the bandits out & removes the time limit.

  • Yea, at first I was very excited about this quest.  Running from thieving jujus, finding arcane items, buffs that lock you out for a period of time: cool. Very cool, I thought, this is awesome.

But then I finished it up so quickly (if you don't count the time-out buffs).   And it felt.. like a letdown.

I dunno - this one has *so* much potential and I just felt really like it came and went all too quickly.  At least the tower had some staying power - took me a while to get through it.

+1 for the projects asking for gases and compounds.  That struck me as really awesome, especially since you get locked out of the place for a while.
Posted 18 months ago by zeeberk Subscriber! | Permalink
  • So even after completing the quest, I still can only stay there for 10 minutes?? Or is that a bug?
Posted 18 months ago by Joe Blow Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Some revisions have been made to quest dialogue and prompts which will hopefully make the experience less confusing, and we've addressed many issues relating to the Baqala timer.

I can tell you that this is probably not the last you'll see of the bad jujus! Those guys have a mean streak a mile wide, and they mean business.
Posted 18 months ago by Pinot Myrmidon Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Joe Blow, not a bug! The quest is meant to introduce you to the idea of collecting remnants to increase the time left on your timer. Unfortunately some of the dialogue was previously a bit ambiguous on that matter. It has since been made clearer. Sorry for the confusion!

  • I want to buy a bad juju net.. catch them and put 'em to work in my garden.
Posted 18 months ago by Snazzlefrazz Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thanks for the clarification!

This was incredibly fun, especially when there are active projects there. Love the project selection with elements, compunds, etc. This adds a new challenge to them, which I'd like to see more of. Extreme hot/cold projects where you can only stay for brief periods of time, and encourage team work.

Wonder how the area will be once it has been built out...

    Very enjoyable, though.

  • Aw, the buff doesn't go away if you close the game and go to a party for a couple of hours...when you log back in it counts down from where it left off. Boo.
Posted 18 months ago by Cefeida Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yea, that's getting old.  I've logged out twice now with a 45 min to an hour break in-between both logouts, and the buff restarts itself at 30 min every time I log back in.  Bug? Design?
Posted 18 months ago by zeeberk Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Love the Juju's and the whole new section :)

Weird bug I just had. Finished the quest about an hour ago, count down was going on, so I walked home.  Was in my house when I signed out of game. Signed back in, was in house, got message saying about being overwhelmed and then got booted out of my house, and back to just outside baquala o_0 Had to walk back home again lol
    Odd.

I want a Juju pet! They're fun :) Could send them out to harass people and bring home their spoils :D

  • Finally got all 3....but was a little surprised that if i went back in there...i still had a timer.  Um... there are projects there....any chance that will be changing?  Wouldnt want to keep going back there, to take away from others trying to find them.  Kinda fun, running from the juju's...except when they catch you and take your stuff....lol
Posted 18 months ago by im4noles2 Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I got all three after my third visit back, then two more vacuoles in rapid succession...only ONE rubeweed seed though!  I was hoping I could find those in other places. Like in chickens.

I think those little blue signs are kind of silly, especially for something I am told is so tiny, and that I will really have to look for--you literally walk across them.  Unless I really AM missing something else, of course.

Super dig the upside-down raspberry jello cups with legs!
Posted 18 months ago by Nanookie Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yah I was also expecting to have to look hard for something small. The signs don't seem to fit in with the theme. I do love the concept of having to find time extenders and love the jujus. I just wish the items to find were tiny pebbles or something small.
Posted 18 months ago by FrankenPaula Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I didn't see any seeds when I was in there, how do you find them?. And I love the jujus.  I kept jumping over them but they will hunt you wherever you go so I finally gave him a piece of paper.

  • I got some really good XP and energy quions in Baqala! over 100+ xp/energy per quion. Pretty awesome. The Jujus and Nostalgia were pretty distracting.

  • Just wanted to say that I love everything about this new region, and everything it entails! I love that there's a sense of challenge, and "enemies" in a way that Glitch hasn't seen before, and the magpie in me adores the random item giveaways. Just awesome. If this is the direction Glitch is moving in, I am wholeheartedly in favor.

  • Possible Bug: I logged out while in Baqala with a good 4 1/2 minutes to go on my timer to see what would happen, and upon logging back into the game much sooner than 4 1/2 minutes later, I was kicked out of Baqala and given the 30 minute debuff.
Posted 18 months ago by Vexia Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Another note on the jujus:  less talk at the beginning? or bigger letters or something or make them loom really really large and then shrink down.

They really don't seem very threatening, and with an entire paragraph of monologue-ing at the beginning, it's like being mugged by Woody Allen.   After the first time I saw them, I just bolted the other direction, didn't even bother to find out what they were coming after.  So the mwahahah speech was totally lost on me after its first appearance.

ETA: Actually what I do now is get close enough to see what they have set their sights on, and if I don't care about it, I don't really work too hard to outrun...oh sorry..outWALK them.

    They are awful cute though.

  • Overlapping dialogues and maps did me in.  I had a few min. left, pulled down the map to see where to go and the jujus got me from behind the map and stole a key.  When I entered and was getting instructions there were two other pop-up dialogues that interfered and I did not get to read the whole story.  I did not get the story again though I have been in there 3 times.  Once I had 3 different dialogues pop-up at the same time and then I froze, could not move and the jujus got me.  I am torn between laughing and crying but i think laughing has the edge.  I sure would like to read the whole story again, preferably without being interrupted by other messages.

  • Same bug as Vexia. So basically, the countdown for time allowed in Baqala keeps on running when you log out...but the countdown for rest required away from Baqala does not!

    That's REALLY annoying.
Posted 18 months ago by Cefeida Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I never log out of Glitch.  I just go to my home page. The Baqala timer keeps counting down.
Posted 18 months ago by GreyGoose Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Most enjoyable although frustrating!  Never know what those dang jujus are going to take, and as always, the horrendous flash crashes happen at the worst times!  I also had problems with the story, did not get to read, and still don't know what the quest actually is.

The art is magnificent!  Flower design gorgeous!  Congrats devs, you've done it again.  I am sure we will see tweaks/bug fixes, but all in all.....great job!

  • Hi, everyone. There were some problems with the timers at launch yesterday, but many of those issues should be sorted out now.

    The expected behaviour is this:
    * If you log out of the client in Baqala, the timer should freeze where it is and be at the same point when you log back in.
    * If you leave Baqala, the timer should count down at half the rate at which it counts up (whether or not you remain logged into the client). So if you're in Baqala for 5 minutes, then leave for 10, the timer should be completely reset.
    * The half hour timer for re-entry if you stay too long in Baqala should count down whether or not you are logged in.

The above points should work correctly as of yesterday afternoon/evening, meaning if you are still experiencing any problems with those as of today, it's something new we don't know about, in which case please file a bug report and we will be on it like a group of Vancouver twenty-somethings on Sunday brunch.

There are also some known issues we're currently working on, so if you experience any of these, don't panic!
    * Sometimes the Baqala buff freezes when full, and you are not correctly booted out of Baqala.
    * On occasion, 'stale' prompts remain on the player when dismissed and reappear on log-out. This means you might log in to see the "Overwhelmed!" prompt, even if you are not in Baqala (or if you are in Baqala, but your timer is not full). Fortunately, as a quick fix while we work on the larger issue, these will no longer actively kick you to the Baqala entrance unless you're actually in Baqala, so they should be less of a problem than they were yesterday.

Thanks for your patience, everyone! Unfortunately, bugs are the wages of beta, but we appreciate all the help in testing, obviously, and we're working hard to make sure these issues get resolved.

  • Probably a bug, and I've only attempted this with paper, but I've discovered if you let the Juju catch you, there's a split second where the item it's after is on the floor, so you can just pick it up again.

Didn't risk this with my Focusing Orb, mind you!
Posted 18 months ago by andonida Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Awwww, I can run and jump circles around those Gumdrop Bandits....feets don't fail me now! They are marvelously fierce talking but exceptionally slow.
Baqala is truly a significantly breathtaking and amusing romp through a rather austere savanna-like region. The only complaints I have are not finding enough time increasing coins (wanna stay longer) and wishing to see stray herds of Glitchy Gnu's popping their heads up out of the grasses. At the very least we need large feline silhouettes reclining in the tree branches.
Love, love, LOVE the variety of goodies (herbaliscious seeds) and thankies for the extra paper trees!

  • I had a juju steal a gnome from me after my time was up. I froze and was overwhelmed - a second later the juju runs in, steals a gnome and then i got booted out. Couldn't even defend myself!

  • Yes, they can steal from you in the time between when the dialog appears and you click OK. :-(

  • The zone is very pretty, but there doesn't seem to be anything to do there, no vendors, shrines or anything except a bunch of knocked down signs. I've only been there three times, though so maybe I'm missing something.

  • I hate them less now that I've figured them out, but they can be a real pain if you're dealing with lag, as I was today.

  • I've darted in there and just beat feet all over the place to try to pick up hoodjits* from the pop-up signs.  I also try to donate whatever I can to whatever street project is ongoing - that way I get a TP script back without having to trudge or waste a map teleport to go back.

Nanookie: "...it's like being mugged by Woody Allen."  ELL-OH-FRACKING-ELL.

  • Blitz: you're supposed to press "enter" or click on the little round things in the ground when there's a blue sign above them, and receive an item.  The quest asks that you find three ancestral items, but there are also drinks, gems, flower seeds, meals, keys, etc. hidden in the holes.  The purple juju bandits will occasionally pop up and try to steal your stuff, but you can run away or jump over them to avoid this.

I like the potential of this area, but I wish it were some sort of puzzle or game, rather than mindlessly walking around, hoping to find a blue sign above a hole.  The quoins are great, especially the time and favor ones, but the whole thing still feels as if it's missing something, and being kicked out after ten minutes is just not fun for me.

Also, will there be juju shoo-shoo powder again at some point?  It seems so appropriate...

  • It would cool if you could sneak up on jujus and rob them back, even if you got a different item altogether.

like...digging in a dirt pile might clue you to an underground nest of them. or something.

  • After my first tour, I went home and left all of my important and/or expensive equipment there - the Emo Bear, the Focusing Orb the Smelter, the Gassifier, the Spice box, the Elements Pouch, etc.  No problems.  I didn't need most of those things and thus had very little that I would miss if I were robbed (and I was!) - LOL!  The only drawback was that I could not make some of the project items though I was able to contribute several things.  I had some keys and lot two of them but they are easily replaced.

My only complaint?  Gosh it's Sparse in there!
Posted 18 months ago by Brib Annie Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'm probably wrong but it appeared to me that the devs might have tweaked things during the course of the test.

When I first went into Baqala there was a juju waiting for me on almost every street corner, the sign/trap things (which I think you just have to walk over... don't have to press anything) were almost always down and the best reward I could find was an extra 10 seconds.

But by Sunday the juju frequency had dropped off to about 10-20%, the traps were more often up (maybe less foot traffic?) and I was regularly finding 30-60 second extensions and loads of quoins with high payloads.

I still lost a couple of nice cocktails to the jujus but I found a couple in the traps so we're about even. Enjoying it more now than I did at the start.

  • Don't expect to see any housing projects there! :)

Yes, it is sparse, but that's like the African Savannah. The point of seeing plains animals and lions is a good one. I'd like to see that too.

  • Overall, very diverting. A few things:
++ those em-effing  jujus stole my EHSP at which point it caused me to curse. As this was done IRL and not in chat, this was not a huge problem for others' gameplay.
++ I later laughed at myself. BUT, I wonder if this would be a big downer for a new player. I am at a high enough level that it was curse-causing, but not really harmful. If I didn't have dozens of full bags and a swank house, it might bum me out a lot more.
++ I don't get that when I complete the quest I don't overcome the nostalgia. I thought that was the point. I get the hoodjits* to cure my nostalgia. At least that's what I thought.
++ Also, what's up with the hoodjits*. They just disappeared. What were they?
++ What the other people said about the projects. Nice, calm, and everyone can participate.
++ It was awesome to get those BIG rewards for quoins. Note to self, don't go there too close to quoin limit time.
++ I totally LOVED the savanna. My only thing was I kept looking for this

    Great job, and Hakuna Matata.

  • I found Baqala frustrating mainly because so much of the 10-minute limit is eaten up by walking around, and if there's anyone else in a street with you, odds are they get all the blue flags and you get nothing. I was actively avoiding other players. I think this is not how it ought to be.
