My home in Alakol reminds me of a Swiss Chalet. It is perfection and I shall try to again possess real estate here when the game goes public...There is an order and tidiness to its pristine streets. Its perfection cannot be bested.
On a more serious note (though I do like yellow): Kajuu is closer to the ancestral lands, making it very convenient to run up there once in awhile for some superquoins. Alakol has more mining.
Don't you look out at Kajuu and think of wild beasts roaming in the background? A flickering tail seen behind a tree. The 50000 Alakol homes interior lake scenery reminds me of a fjord, no doubt, maybe one I could see a whale or orca spout in. But the outside land is not quite as distinct as Kajuu, imo. I just feel warm there.
Edit: The only improvement I could even imagine that would be better than Kajuu scenery would be one with more water, a dunes & beach environment. But there may be other advantages to Alakol that I am not thinking of besides artwork.
I had a goal to get Alakol home just as the ones in Kajuu went live. After going back & forth, I decided on Kajuu.
I enjoy jumping around (I'm that annoying person that jumps down the street instead of walking down) and that was a slight edge to the rock faces in Alakol, but the Kajuu caves aren't bad. In fact, I lovelovelove them. I love that they're filled with dirt & loamy goodness. I love that they're cool, dark, damp & mossy. I love the way my glitch looks in them & if there were houses there, I'd buy in a heartbeat (though I'd hope they were on edge of the caves and had gardens, I'd miss my garden! but maybe not so much with all the garden & food changes ;)).
I also love that it's so close to the ancestral lands. I enjoy doing runs through them and think I'd do far fewer if I lived in Alakol.
I do wish that there were patches on the street so that we could plant some trees, but the barren look is nice - it's a relief from the busyness of the other lands. There was also a slightly better vendor setup in Alakol (though I can't remember which streets), but that hasn't been as annoying of an issue as I thought it would be.
Also everyone wants a house in Alakol - so you're just dealing with new money & wannabes there. In Kajuu, you don't have to deal with keeping up with the Jones' bit. It's just nice & laid back with a bit of a wild west feel. Plus, with the dusty desert, you don't have to mow the grass near as often and nobody is going to bitch that you're bringing down their housing values if you're not on top of it.
I like the colors much better in Kajuu, feels warmer than Alakol. But I feel closer to the ocean In Alakol . I agree when/if we ever get a warm caribbean type location I would ditch Alakol in a heartbeat. Especially if the designers use the colors they have around the islands it would be a sell-out in minutes. Beach combing instead of mining sounds like heaven to me.
I like Alakol better because it reminds me of a tiny Scottish island I visited a few years back (Iona), most gorgeous place ever. And Kajuu just seems dry and dusty to me....
Alakol all the way for me. I'm use to grey overcast foggy climates. Home from home, hey I have awesome neighbours, gotta love that. Yep, home is where the heart is. I did love my Mario house though.
I have to say I prefer Alakol to Kajuu/Andra. At least Alakol is by the water and has a pretty background...the Kajuu/Andra background was meh for me. However, I am often chilled in Alakol and wearing my coconut bra and grass skirt with goosebumps is highly unattractive...so first sign of a sandy warm beach home and I'm there...and yes, would love to have some beach combing skills...(I remember hearing about crabs roaming around and racing to find one thinking it would have to be on a beach...lol...was so disappointed when they weren't).
Since I live in the 30K home (prefer it's layout to the 50K home, though I would love to have that third tier to jump off of), I like the Alakol home better since it has more trees.
We all seem to love our homes, until, the beach huts, cottages, homes, mansions arrive then we will all be in love with our new homes. I bet he developers are laughing so hard they better not drink to much water, or else. lol
Am I the only one who calls it Kajagoogoo? :) I can't help it. It's just to shy to shy etc yes i'm from the 80s stop rolling your eyes now.
At first I only moved to Alakol to have a pen to separate garden and beasts. But now I'm attached because I have the Best Neighbors Ever (BNE). And also, I'm from a coastal, heavy fog area so aw, Alakol is a little piece of home.
I tell you, tho, my favorite houses are in the fire bogs. I want one in real life.
