Glitch builds trust

Yesterday  I had the pleasure of visiting someone's new digs.   Today I realized that when you let someone into your Glitch house it shows a great deal of trust... Glitcherini have posted about how some have stolen all their stuff when allowed entry.
I love the feeling of trust I have with some friends in the game.

  • That's too bad that there are people who would steal things right from own your home! Isn't there a way to nail stuff down, like I did with my tables in my apartment? (kidding, kidding)
Maybe there can be made a setting, in your house, after you drop something to change it to Do Not Move or something?

  • There needs to be a button you can push in your own home that electrocutes thieves.

  • I have had brand new players ask to see my home, and I'm a little sad to say that I didn't feel I could just let them in to check it out (I sent them to the real estate listing instead).

Maybe if there was some sort of way to check if players are leaving your home with more than they arrived with, there would be some way to check with you first ("So-and-so has 500 more Sparkly in their bags... is this OK?" and if you click "No," that Sparkly goes back on the floor where it was.

  • I thought TS had dealt with this so that visitor can't seal stuff...Did I dream that?

  • As I recall, security is something they are still working to improve.  Maybe locked crap and trophy cabinets?

  • Visitors can still take stuff off the floor. You *are* able to boot them from your house if you want, though I'm not sure if this works if you're not at your house at the time of their visit.

  • Millie I'm confused - how would a visitor get into a house if the owner doesn't let them in? Or are you saying if you did let them in and then you left them alone in the house?

  • @MeherMan You don't need to be at home to let someone in. When they knock on your door you get a message asking if you want to let them in or not, kinda like the one you get when someone wants to follow you.

  • Should have a item lock on your items inside the house always unless the owner picks it up and gives it to someone or maybe if they do a manual override in advance.

  • I kind of like Lilith's idea, but I wonder how that would work if you had, say, a house party and other people dropped things on your floor.  If other people dropped things on your floor, does it then become 'yours'?  Or would only things that you dropped become yours?

I love the idea of locked cabinets, but right now, it would be sort of annoying (at least for me) as I've completely filled up my cabinet.  I can't wait for customizable housing/additional furniture--I need a boatload more cabinets to keep everything neat and off the floor!

  • Also, if you let them in and they leave voluntarily (you didn't use the kick them out option) they can walk back in without knocking, as long as you are both still online.  I am assuming if one of you logs off that it requires permission again, but not even positive about that.

  • K but as much as the Jew in me loves Barbara Streisand, she isnt a household name anymore.

  • If you log out while someone is in your home, they get moved outside, and they cannot go back in after you come back online unless they ask again; at least that's how I understood the recent security changes. Haven't tested that part.

Booting them is functional (tested it for funsies with a friend) though I'm not sure if you can do it from afar like you can let them in.

And I don't think people visiting are able to get into your cabinets, so they already are essentially locked. It's just the stuff on the ground they can steal.

This is true, sadly necessary but heartbreaking for the couples who want to stay overnight (log off) and wake to a new day together. No more surprise breakfasts for my Joe for when he wakes up (sigh)

  • @Little Miss Giggles-I was recently at a house party for someone just moving into their new house in Dofsan Vex Quarter (Alakol), and I and other guests were able to open his cabinet and put things inside (housewarming gifts).  I didn't try to take anything out, since that would obviously be quite rude, but we could definitely open it and put things in.

  • @Joe Blow - Given the lack of bed and the ability to lie down on them if there was I'm curious as to how that would work.

  • ok, so at next test, everyone show up at Joe Blow's house and go AFK.
