answers for newbies

they come online all sweet and innocent and then are subjected to jaded Global Chat. Their questions are not answered with someone's recent breakup, clothes dilemma or job situation -- there needs to be a clean line for newbie questions. I answer them in Global Chat, but then they are completely lost in the exclamations, cries or harrumphs of others' long-winded conversations......  we need a line that is not just a general party line.

  • Well, there is Live Help. While it will not give direct answers to certain types of questions (what with that whole teach a man to fish thing), it is a way for players to get sent in the right direction quickly and cleanly.

  • I agree.  Newbs should have their own Newb Live Help channel where they can get questions answered.

  • Hmmm... a global channel accessible by those that are level 10 or lower, guides, and staff?

  • I love Marla's idea of the NLH.

  • I don't understand how hard it is for newbies to be honest. When I was a new player I looked stuff up instead of ask people in global. I mean really how hard is researching your own answers? Not like this game is mentally challenging or anything.

  • I found the wiki really helpful when I first started but I was also lucky to already have my sister in the game.  I think it really depends how adept you are a games generally.  My mom plays and ahhh....how can I say this nicely.....she's rising up the levels but I don't know HOW she is doing it.... she still freaks out everytime the rube appears and the first time she was chased by a juju...I'm still hearing about that one.  It was my fault of course.

I also never had a problem asking anyone in game.  The more experienced players could also add and im me so private chat wasn't an issue either.  It's what I now do for newbie players that I'm helping out.

  • I love Global chat, I get the inside scoop, read what's going on when I'm board and even get answers when needed! I don't think anyone ignores questions. Even if they are silly, which I'm guilty of making all the time!

  • I rarely see a question ignored when asked in Global, and some even state who their answer is directed to. When I was new, I didn't even notice Global on the side, I figured everything out for myself. I can see why someone could get lost in the conversations of Global, but when a question is asked, unless someone doesn't have the answer, it's answered.
