Entering the World of Glitch (My XP)

I was reading through Boing Boing as I normally do and I came across a blurb about a new game called Glitch. Being a lifelong gamer (Atari, Commodore 64, Turbo Grafx 16, etc.) it caught my eye. It said Glitch is opening to the public and go to this link to sign up. You had me at Keita Takahashi. Katamari Damacy is one of the best games for PS2 and well one of the best ever made. So anyways, I watched the video, signed up, made my character and entered the world.

The option for requesting a greeter came up, being curious and wondering what was going on, I clicked yes. Fully expecting a bot, I got Nanookie instead. My first question was ”are you real?” Her response was “I am really real”. This blew me away, not only is this game trippy, it’s got great ambient music, and real people greeters. My mind was blown, and has remained to be blown.

To top it off Nanookie told me what’s what and has remained giving me tips. Not only that a random person gave me items and showed me some good places to go. The community vibe fits in deeply with my philosophy and I have chosen to carry on the spirit of spreading the love and abundance. Thank you for making an awesome environment and being awesome.

  • I'm new as well, but just have to comment to second the love for KD.  That and the first sequel are two of my all-time favorite games.

  • I'm so happy to hear you've enjoyed Glitch so far, Enoch!  :D  I'm especially glad to hear that you're helping to give back to the community.  It can be as simple as gifting or as fun as acting out an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but it still takes effort and awareness, and I always want people to know just how easy it is to get involved.  And don't be afraid to say hi yourself sometimes. :)  I definitely know I won't bite (much!)

EDIT: Also, more mad love to da Nanook of the South for showing another newbie Glitch what it's all about. <3

  • On something like day 27 of working pretty much all day every day, I gotta say: I read this and thought, "this is why we do it — makes it all worthwhile". Thank you :)

  • +1 Lightbringer!!  Hear Hear!

I started playing the day after it opened...and I have been hooked ever since.
And yes, I LOVE the music.  Usually in a game the first thing that I do is turn off the music.  I find myself cranking the speakers for this game. (although that does lead to a slight myocardial infarction when I level up).  LOL

I love that it's trippy and adult themed, but in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way.  I ADORE the humor of the game.

But, not only am I hooked on playing Glitch, I am also quite fond of the community and the other players.
I usually lurk in forums, especially when I'm the n00b.  But I jumped right in here...posting away...and people have been great to me.

    THANK YOU for Glitch!!  <3

    Well done!

P.S.  Heck yeah, Katamari Damacy rox!  :-)

  • You can grab some of the music here: http://www.glitch.com/blog/2010/12/11/music-round-up/

I wish more of the background sounds were available to download. *hint hint*
