New music on Loader screen needs a mute button.

The music on the loading screen is very loud.  I usually keep the music muted and the new loading screen music interrupts what I am doing on the computer.
If a mute button could please be added to the loading screen, this would help very much. Or an option to turn off loading screen music in the profile before opening the game.

  • I moved this to ideas as this is not a bug, it is by design. We are following feedback on this, in any case. :)

  • I totally agree that having music OBLIGATORY is a bad idea. There should be a preference somewhere that allows for a stealth launch.

Some people apparently play the game at work. Nobody I know, of course.

  • @Pascale: Perhaps, if you're playing the game in a setting where you need to be stealthy about it, you should just mute your computer's speakers...? XD

  • I'm not. I'm self-employed, and I quite enjoy the music.

  • There IS a mute button.

Before you leave the game, mute your sound effects.  Then you won't hear the music as it loads.

  • Given that the devs are paying attention to feedback here, I'd like to weigh in on this one and say I strongly agree there should be an option to toggle the loading screen music on and off. I realize many people find it lovely and enchanting, but I ... don't. In addition, I prefer a quiet environment, and I don't feel the need to alert my entire household every time I want to play.

As for the suggestion to simply mute my computer's speakers altogether -- well, that seems a bit much, to have to completely silence every sound on my computer just because of one game.

And having to remember every time before I leave the game to turn off my sound effects -- which of course I usually leave on so I can hear things like the Rube -- does not seem like a reasonable solution to me. More often than not, by the time I remember I should've muted sound effects, I've already started the multi-part process of exiting the world, and it doesn't make much sense to go back into the game (thereby having to listen to the music AGAIN) just so I can turn it off for next time. I think it's a bit flippant to present that as an obvious "mute button" when really it's just makeshift (and awkwardly inconvenient) workaround. I don't think I should be required to mute and unmute each and every game session just so I don't have to hear the loading music every time. I have the music in the game muted. Why doesn't this also mute the music upon entering the game?

It reminds me of those websites where you arrive and suddenly unwanted music and video starts blaring at you. I always hit the back button immediately when that happens. I love Glitch enough to tolerate what I think is a rather insensitive design decision, though. I'll love it even more if the game gives me an option to make the loading music go away.

  • I agree with Sirentist.. "reminds me of websites where suddenly unwanted music starts"
I hurry to react (leave or find the mute) but at that point, it's already a nuisance.

  • Hey!

So the music was set to the sound effects volume instead of the music volume, but this is now fixed up.

As an added bonus, if you do have your music volume up to hear the ambient music in the game, but don't want to hear the intro, just press your escape key and it'll fade out quick!

  • Thank you so much for this. I am glad everyone listened quickly and fixed it.
I do not play this at work, but I was playing sometimes while on Skype...and it was defiantly interrupting my ability to talk with people.
    I havent noticed a problem today :D
