IDEA: Pranking Skill

I think Glitch suffers from being too 'nice'. I want to poke fun, play pranks and cause a little chaos that doesn't harm or take items from someone but makes them smile or laugh.

Prank ideas: Items like water balloons, whoopee cushions, hand shake buzzers would require the ability to HIGH FIVE and/or shake hands.

Eventually they could move up to creating rube goldberg machines that make a fake Gwendolyn fly down from a tree or place a bucket in front of someones door that they step in and gets stuck on their foot for a few minutes.

  • If someone is inside their house, you can sneak up outside and set up a bucket of water above their door.  There is a nice animation of the same kind as the emotional bear when you get soaked.

    You can "fill" the empty slots in someone's bags once a game day with cups of water - you can do this now but with the skill you could do it all in one go and with no tell-tale sound/growl.

  • Again, to avoid grief issues, there could be something you could add to the emotional bear that allows you to prank and be pranked. Don't want to get pranked? Leave it off!

  • Moehr Ossum: that is a great idea.  If this is a skill, you could get pranking "recipes" you use by clicking on your bear, to make pranking devices.  You can deploy them by having the devices in your inventory and clicking on another glitch who has pranking particpation "on".

    Another idea: you can first make, then give someone a "sneeze bean" which looks just like a normal bean, but doesn't stack.  As long as it is in their inventory, they will sneeze periodically.  When they drop it, it goes back to being a regular bean.

    I think one of the things about pranking is that it should involve some reasonable level of investment of time and resources for the pranker, but not the prankee.  The prank should involve only a small amount of inconvenience for the prankee, which should either be over quickly, or be capable of being ended by the prankee.  And I like that pranking should be opt-in.

  • Nice, I like these ideas.

    Definitely pranking recipes, or tools that you would have to craft (Pulley system for the waterbucket, faucet/sink to fill water balloons)

    I think the idea of it being opt-in is brilliant, that way, only those that want to be pranked and are in it for the fun of it will be pranked.

    Hopefully staff see this and consider it, I think it would bring a whole new level of player interaction and fun to the game that it is sorely missing.

  • I love this idea!

    I'd love to be able to make a Hallowed Shrine Powder into a Hallowed Shrine Itching Powder. Functions like the normal one but causes the recipient to scratch themselves for a while. 

    I'd also propose that being pranked increases the recipient's mood.
