This Little Piggy

So I have a piglet sitting on a stool in my new little kitchen, looking longingly at a glass of spicy grog...but I swear every time I come home lately, he's wearing a different expression. Last time it was this bug-eyed look of horror, like I'd brought home pig bait or something.

  • He probably took a sip and thought "Great Giants, that stuff will kill you!"

  • I have noticed, too, that piggies trapped in the forever pigglet stage tend to change their expressions at random. It's as if they are saying "feed me! turn me into a real piggie!"

  • I've wondered about this, too. The piglet (and chicks, too) close their eyes after they've been there for awhile. Does this mean their getting ready to croak? And while I'm at it, one more piggie question, please. Will piggies die if no one harvests the trees on a street? I've seen them literally slide because they're running so fast to get to the tree I'm harvesting, and they'll come all in a crowd to say "yum" If I don't harvest, will they turn to corn seed and slabs o' meat?

  • I've had a piglet disappear after a while.  It's possible someone took him, but since nothing else on my street was touched, I think it's very likely he died.  I'm not leaving piglets lying around more than a day any more.

  • Bruja, I don't know if piggies will die if nobody harvests, but they will if nobody pets/waters the trees.  You'll notice that if you pet/water the pigs will eat even if you don't harvest. I have seen pigs near trees die in Aranna on streets without much traffic.

  • Piggies also have a finite lifespan, like butterflies - just longer.

  • I have had a piglet on my desk for months.

  • Hmm.. That's true.

Perhaps people ARE reading my invitations to take things.

  • I've never seen a piggy die. I've had two sitting around for months. I finally sold one, but the other is still sitting.

  • I have had piggies for several RL months. None have died. Butterflies are so ephemeral I don't even bother to name them anymore. Chickens seem to be permanent.

  • So, Dr. Babycat, your observation leads me to believe that one day we will all be up to our eyeballs in Chickens?

  • I just had a chicken "poof" away yesterday. They are not so much permanent as long lasting.

  • I've had more than one chicken die certainly. I haven't had a piglet out of my bag for long, must try that!

  • I tried releasing too many chickens in the Missing Floor. About half went poof.

  • Incidentally, I just discovered that fully grown animals will stay put on pieces of furniture. They can't get out.

I suspect that the friend who is the "beneficiary" of this discovery is going to need a dev/support person to move the herd I just put on her bed into the backyard, which I probably should have thought about before DOING it.

  • I have a piglet in a similar situation.
My observation has been that their eyes change from time to time.

  • I took some pictures of the piglets changing in front of my house (which some mischievous friends left for me). Here is the post about it in the Animal Kinship Alliance group, which includes a link to the pictures (all of this should be viewable to everyone regardless of whether they're in the group).
