Change! Can Anyone Spare Some Change?

Several changes I would like to see (let's start with the obvious ones):
1)  I WANT MY FAVOR BACK!  Accidental donations are bound to happen, but it would be nice if you could at least recover SOME of the favor you lose by accidentally getting an emblem
2) STACKS!  Please please please please make it possible for us to choose how many objects we can donate/feed/drop, etc that is not 1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, or 30!  When donating to Giants, if I have 4000+ sparkly (which I often do) I have to donate 30 at a time, and that is just obnoxious!  Same with feeding piggies 3 at a time when you have a large stack!  It would be nice to have the option available to chose how much you give (like when you buy from vendor and you can choose the amount)
3) It would be really nice to have a "Reply" button for your inbox.  Or perhaps you could sift through a list of friends who have recently sent you something at the mailbox so that you don't have to try to remember who sent you what so you can respond appropriately when you do come by a mailbox after receiving mail!

I think thats it!  Anything to add?  Anything to take away?  Any devs reading this?

  • The request to fine tune the donate/feed/drop/give amount comes up quite often but I'm not sure I've seen an acknowledgement from the devs. I'd guess it's a "yes, it's on the list" but would be good to know that.

    Maybe we need a "planned changes" page... this would have helped prevent the grumbling about the growing time changes too. Obviously stuff to do with NEW features couldn't go on there in advance, but just a public list of acknowledged changes to existing things. Maybe it's somewhere already & I just haven't found it :-)

  • I actually really like the favor system the way it is now, and they'd have to entirely rework it in order to implement something like what you're suggesting.  As the system works right now, there would be too much opportunity for abuse: every time you receive an emblem from a shrine, your max favor goes up by 100 (as does your daily donating limit, BTW).  So if you can donate emblems to a shrine, you could just donate+receive+donate+receive, etc, and get an absurdly high max favor with very little ever actually leaving the game.  Also, you are warned before you exceed your max daily donation - if you click "spend favor" in between donations, you should be okay.  

    Instead, why don't you use your emblems for energy/xp/mood?  Or give them away to people who need or want them.

  • P.S.  Feeding issue exists for batterflys too.  I want to feed them 3 of something, I have to feed them 1 item, and do it 3 times.

    And where have the devs been? I have seen a big drop in dev responses on the forums, perhaps you are all busy, but a simple "Yes we plan on changing that" or "No" will do!

  • @lauriali Or maybe devs are backing out of the high level of engagement with players. There are likely more efficient ways for the company to work.

  • the quantities have been adjusted for some of the things and i, for one, really appreciate it! the mail, for example, is much much better, now that we can pick how many we want to send.

  • I'm not all that anxious for the game to go live.  I'm having a blast playing now, going live will bring more bugs and even less dev time and you get to pay forever after that.  Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out.

    I would like to be able to have at least one dev playing while we are, to answer all the smaller questions.  This would seem to save them bothering with unnecessary bug reports and give players a chance to have their questions answered right then.

    Laurali is 100% right in her requests.  Plus why do we have to go back to our home page when adding friends, makes it very spotty and at times unmanageable for some people.

    It would also save everyone a lot of guessing if we could have an idea when the game opens again before test time ends, or at least when game time ends just post when the next opening will happen.  The same with the time game will end, I hate it when I run to store and come home and find the game ended like it did today, and with no idea when it might open back up.
    Just because the game is in beta shouldn't mean it has to always be a guessing game when you can play.  Maybe this is asking too much, but how would I even know that? 

    p.s  Yes the mail quanitiy is a good addition but why not be able to add more than one item per mailing?

    You really are asking too much.  We are here to help the devs.  The main emphasis right now is for the devs to write the code that runs the game.  When they make changes, they let us test it for a while to see where it breaks.  Then they close the game and try to figure out why things broke. 

    There's no way to know how long it will take to figure out the problem.  Then there's no way to know how long it will take to fix whatever the problem is.  They simply cannot tell us when it will open up again because there is no way of knowing what length of time that would be. 

    I wasn't here when the game ended today.  Did something crash that couldn't be fixed before the scheduled end?   That's one of the hazards of being a tester.  You're playing a game that will break down at unexpected times.  That's exactly what testing is for, to find those unexpected problems. 

    As long as the game is in a testing phase, there will be unexpected problems and unknowable downtimes.

    Or else, monitor Global Chat as there are always multiple queries about closing time on the last day of the test.  TS and P_R were really good about letting us know closing time for this test.

  • We can add friends from inside the game: click on the person's avatar or nickname in the chat window, and choose "Add to friends."

    I think it would be extremely helpful to have a "search for friends" option, though, and many people have requested it.  It would also be nice to be able to extend a group invitation to someone who isn't on your friends list.

  • Thanks MaryLiLamb, I tried the /general/4985 and from there tried another location last poster had included and it showed when we had open and closed in the last month and a half.  Gave a really good visual on dates.  

    Glum Pudding a new friend who hasn't been able to play very much is an alpha player, and commented on how cumbersome adding new friends, and the difference between buddies and friends.  Clicking on the avatar is easy  but to make it mutual is the clumsy part.  Going to your home page in the middle of game to check requests etc.  That is what I was specifically talking about. 

    Am I going to be in trouble for opening my mouth?  My guess is yes.

    WindBorn when I ask about game opening and closings for planned game time there must be some sort of schedule even code writers try to stay within the bounds of.  Of course any schedule can't be set in cement that would actually take a lot of the fun out of beta testing.  I'm not even too concerned about the actual time of day, but soon is not very informative.  Even if we were told something like within the week, or not until after next wednesday.  Anything would help us keep peace with people beta testers have to deal with in RL.  If code writers or whoever realized the possible game opening would be later than what was announced or projected, just post the possible new time.  We just would like an idea of when to plan our game time.

  • As far as testing goes, it's never been a big problem to me to know when the game open/closes even though I have missed changing skills a few times which is slightly annoying, I have no problem with the casual open/close.  I know not everyone feels that way though.

    I am still very excited about this quantity picker.  I love how many new things are being added to the game, and I'm guessing at this point the devs want to get as many features tested as possible before the game goes live and some of these more obvious problems will be fixed later.  But it is always very very nice to have some reassurance!
