Opening of Rook Casino Entertainment Center

Greetings Citizens of Ur,

Tired of working and running around as a miner? Or you are an overachiever earning so much money but have nothing to spent on? Fret not, Rook Casino Group, an subsidary of Rook Entertainment Holdings is proud to launch its first ever Casino Entertainment Center.

On 6th November 2011 at 1pm (GMT+8), we will be officially opening the Casino Entertainment Center. Situating at the picturesque Groddle Meadow, we provide a one stop entertainment and dining service. Glitches can enjoy games after games of dice rolling, make bets on the spot and watch their numbers get rolled right in front of them.

Hungry after playing too much game? Fret not, you can always exchange your losing tickets at the food counter for a good set of food items and beverages.

  • I just read the rules on the group page (copied below)

    Rules and Regulations:

    Dice Game:
    1. Players can purchase a bet ticket(min 100, max 1000) for each bet. Players who want to bet more, can increase their bet in the denomination of hundreds,i.e (200,300,1000...)
    2. Players can bet on the individual numbers on both dice (Individual) and/or the sum of the numbers shown on both dice (Sum).
    3. The player must specify the amount of the money he or she wishes to bet and what they are intending to bet on, Individual or Sum, to the ticketing officer when placing bets.
    4. The payoff for Individual bets is 1:21 and the payoff for Sum bets is 1:5.
    5. Players can also exchange the losing tickets at our food and drinks booth at the entertainment center.

I want to discuss ODDS vs PAYOFF

The odds vs. payoff for the "Individual" Bet is actually in the player's favor as long as order of individual numbers is not important. If an individual bet on 1 & 2 pays for a roll of 2,1 and 1,2 then the odds are 20:1, but if order is considered then the odds drop to 35:1.

I am concerned about the odds vs. payoff of the "Sum" Bet. I have bolded the payoff above. If you look at this TABLE OF DICE ODDS the only Sum that has 5:1 odds is 7. Which means that if you bet on 7 you will more or less break even, where as betting on any other number would put you at a loss.

I propose that you institute the following payoffs for "Sum" Betting

If you are just doing this for fun and want everyone to have odds at "even money" then use these payoffs:

    Sum of 2 or 12   -    Pays 35:1
    Sum of 3 or 11   -    Pays 17:1
    Sum of 4 or 10   -    Pays 11:1
    Sum of 5 or 9     -    Pays 8:1
    Sum of 6 or 8     -    Pays 6.2:1
    Sum of 7           -     Pays 5:1

If you want the house to have an edge like real casinos do then use these payoffs:

    Sum of 2 or 12   -    Pays 32:1
    Sum of 3 or 11   -    Pays 15:1
    Sum of 4 or 10   -    Pays 9:1
    Sum of 5 or 9     -    Pays 7:1
    Sum of 6 or 8     -    Pays 5:1
    Sum of 7           -     Pays 4:1

Also if you are going for house edge, I would make the pay off for the "Individual" Bet something like 17:1

Just consider this a message from the Ur Gaming Commission.

  • No problem, I'm pretty in to statistics and percentages lol. If you're hiring, I might be available to work for the casino. I could either work on odds for new games (cubimal racing bets, 12-sided die games, etc.), or possibly even lend my cooking skills to preparing food and beverages. Let me know if you would be interested in my services. Good luck with your new business venture.
