Furniture Trading/Upgrading

Questions about the Furniture/Housing update:
1) When we "Buy" an upgrade for a piece of furniture... will we be able to use it freely forever?  Or will we have to pay MORE credits for it AGAIN?
2) Will we be able to sell UPGRADED furniture on the auctions? Or only by Trading?  Or not sell it at all?
3)In "R2" (next week :)... is that when all of customizations will be reset and the house update is official or is it just a new testing phase?
4) Finally, when we "imagine :)" more lands for ourselves will it ONLY cost imagination and/or currants as well? And does anyone know how the internal upgrading will work? (the "project like" upgrading)???

Also, Thanks Stoot  (and the dev Team :) for making Glitch the way it is the the BEST game :)
Happy Easter and Pesach Everyone! :)

  • 1. Yes, it would be like clothing items, once you buy it you can use it forever. (but this is only for one piece of furniture; if you want multiples, each one would be a separate upgrade; also you probably want to only upgrade base furniture, and not convert the same furniture to different styles as that would be overriding your purchases)

    2. Right now it appears they can be sold, but venues for selling are not confirmed.

    3. Just new testing phase.

    4. Probably a combination of costing both imagination and currants, since you probably need to use currants to purchase various resources, and imagination for cultivation.

  • 1) You'll have the upgrade for that piece of furniture forever.

    2) You will be able to sell upgraded furniture. I would assume that includes auctions.

    3) New testing phase.

    4) It will most likely require Urth Blocks as well. More info will be revealed later.

  • 4. To clarify: Imagining MORE land will only cost imagination. Cultivating it will require doing 'Discreet project-like work'.

  • I'm pretty sure stoot (or some dev) said somewhere that you'd have to buy that furniture upgrade for each piece of furniture you want to add it to. You can keep it on that piece as long as you want after you buy it, but if you change it to something else, then want to change it back, you'll have to repurchase it (indeed, this is how the changes appear to work even now, though it's not costing us right now).

I'll have to find that to see if I am remembering right or just crazier than I originally thought.

  • I can assure you that I read the same thing LMG :D!

  • Um.... So when is the final release, if this is just another testing phase?
Posted 8 months ago by RJStormRider Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Well, here is where stoot addresses buying it separately for each piece: www.glitch.com/forum/genera...

So maybe I imagined things, and it was never clarified on whether you had to pay again for the design if you changed from one to another and back again on a single piece. I don't have time to look any more right now, but maybe I shall find it eventually!

But glad to know that either I'm not crazier than I thought, or that Liza is right there with me in Bedlam!

  • And RJ, the blog said there'd be R2, then when kinks and such are worked out of it, they'd roll out the imagination system and other things more fully. They didn't give a date of when, but I imagine they'd want a few weeks to test R2 out before putting out the next changes.

  • 1) at the moment no I raise. This question with a few of the secs and there now thinking about it, right now it stands that you will have to buy upgrades for pieces of furniture over again, you create another piece of furniture, you buy another upgrade. There doing it aswell so they can get a steady income and so it doesn't affect game play but I hope they change there minds as it will be a major turn of for me and it would be bad in a way

  • The blog update really should be required reading ;)

  • Does anyone know if we will be able to "try before you buy" the furniture?  I know I have upgraded a piece of furniture and as soon as I saw it in my house I realised that it was just not right and put it back again!  It does look different in your house then it does in the inventory!

  • You can set the piece in your house and then when you click on the picture of the type you want to see, it will show you the piece as it would look in your house.

  • To the original questions, mostly confirming what has already been said, but with a correction/clarification on the first question:

    1) Right now it is set up so that you would have to pay twice for the same upgrade if you switched to something else in between. However, we thought about this more, decided it is no good and are going to change it (so that a piece of furniture "remembers" all the upgrades it has had in the past, at least while the same person owns it).

    2) Yes.

    3) The houses will be reset once we do the transition to imagination (probably one week after R2).

    4) Imagining more land only costs imagination (not currants or earth blocks). Cultivating the land (adding a patch or a rock or a jellisac mound, etc.) will also only cost imagination. However, those cultivated items will get depleted over time and there will be "projects" (just like the old street creation projects) to revive them.

  • Charliesmom: Little Miss Giggles is right — place the furniture in your house first, then chose "upgrade" and you can see it in position. Reading your question pushed me over the edge and soon you will *have* to place it in your house before upgrading (to avoid disappointment!)

  • @Stoot: Interesting thing there about cultivated things being used up.  Makes it more real world in a sense. :)  Will there be a use bar (like on some of the tools) so we aren't surprised by it?

@Charliesmom: Now you've done it!  Pushing Stoot over the edge.  Now who knows that horrible things will come from that!!!!!

  • OMG, these answers rock my world -- thank you Stoot!!  Thanks for the clarification, and for listening to all of us and making such amazing adjustments.  TS rules!

  • Wow thanks for the clarification on number four! Glad I got most of it right, but I hadn't heard that instead of cultivating with the projects, we'll be repairing with them! Good to know :D

  • Is there any timeframe for "going out of Beta"?

I am asking because as soon as R2&Reset will be done, I guess that credits suddenly will become important again (to buy furniture and so forth). That of course at the same time will bring the "double your credits after Beta" rule back into the spotlight.

Or to put it otherwise: I do have a few credits in my account, but I suddenly might want to use those "virtual" ones, I have accumulated by paying during beta phase. So... to know if I can access those in 3 months, 6 months or 12 months would be a quite useful bit of information.

  • Louis, do you mean credits?

  • Yes of course I mean credits. Thanks. Corrected.
