Is my keyboard just sticky?

I've been having a bit of a problem getting around in Glitch lately.  Or maybe my problem is in stopping.  Over the past few days, when I've used an arrow key on my keyboard to go in a direction, my Glitch keeps going that direction when I take my finger off the key.  Sometimes it doesn't go very far, but sometimes it will keep walking all the way to the edge of the street.  It's really annoying, and I've taken to using my mouse to position my Glitch.

Is this just me, or is this a game-thing?

  • I think it's a lag- thing. I had that experience before.

  • I"ve been having this issue for the last few days, Lis. Even when I'm not having any other lag issues.

  • Having the same issue periodically and have to refresh browser to fix.

  • It's a flash bug.  The easiest way to stop it is this: if you are uncontrollably walking left, press the left arrow key.  If you're running right, press the right arrow key.  You can also try jumping around a bit to stop the running.

  • It's a different thing from that, glum. I get that a lot, too. I find jumping in the direction I'm walking helps with that. This one, you just have to wait til you stop walking, and go back. Sometimes a couple of times. It's quite embarrassing when you're trying to smooch someone and you keep walking back and forth past them. XD

  • If I get that, resizing my browser and then going back to maximized will usually fix it. Half the time it happens because I hit alt on accident.

  • I have the same issue in Firefox but never in Chrome. Devs said to press key in the direction glitch is heading to make it stop.

  • I, too, have noticed this as a peculiarity of playing in Firefox, so I've been sticking to Chrome.

  • Me too. Also having a delay when jumping.

  • Make sure you have the latest version of Flash?

  • I've had this issue in Chrome. Sometimes clicking on the border of the game fixes it, sometimes pressing ctrl fixes it. I generally move using wasd.

  • I get that too.  Kind of annoying!  I have gotten pretty good at figuring out when to stop or jump even though it looks different on the screen.  I will log out and then log in again, that can help.

  • most of the issues i get with moving in the game are fixed if i tap the CTRL key.
i suspect they are also created by my pressing ctrl by accident in the heat of piggie nibbling or something like that

  • This has always happened to me since I started playing Glitch last year. As awdrone/stuv said hitting the CTRL button should make you come to a stand still.

EDIT: I should add - of course it could be that your keyboard is just sticky, but as to the reason why - that would be TMI ;)

  • It's a game (or perhaps a Flash) thing. I get very strange kb behavior (like yours), but *only* in Glitch. So it's not my kb.

  • It's a flash (and your computer) thing. Generally when flash is eating up too much resources it will do that. Just close the window and run the game again. If you're on a more resource-intensive browser like Firefox and your computer isn't as "updated", restarting the browser may help.

Edit: Try moving around with WASD instead (W for left and D for right). If you're not encountering the problem anymore, it's your keyboard. If you are still getting the problem, then it's flash.

  • Uhm, I ate about 27 peanut butter and jam sammiches while sitting on your keyboard.

And then 2 bags of BBQ chippies, and then about 15 peanut butter and honey sammiches, too, but those were on wheat and with bacon and some with bacon n onion, too.

So that might have gotten 1-2 crumbs in the keys.  Possibly.  But ima very clean elf.

Plus I sorta spilled my Pepsi, a little.  But I slurped up what i could drain out of the keys.
