Story-line problems, hints, and seers

As has been noted in another thread, there's a story-line problem when you have the early cooking quests, but no information on where buns come from. I eventually sort of "gave up " on that quest and many levels later, added to my cooking skills and was able to complete it.

(There was a similar roadblock for me on another skill tree, but now I can't remember what that one was.)

Suggestions (some made before in other threads):
1. Don't assign quests that can't be completed with the newly acquired skill
2. Make sure that the items needed can be acquired SOMEWHERE in the game, even if pricey or rare
3. Have a hint mechanism, which might be free from the rock or might be something like a seer that you pay for.

But I'm thinking this sort of thing might have been just sort of a mistake, as fewer things are now available from vendors, and maybe the quests didn't get adjusted to match.

  • Another example is a cooking quest where Hot 'n' Fizzy sauce is needed. And yet I didn't have a saucepan or Saucery (skill)).

  • I had similar problems with quests appearing out of order, and leaving me clueless as to how to proceed.

    Some examples:

    * I was told to make fruit salads and smoothies earlier, and only now I'm being told how to change fruits.

    * I've needed cheese much earlier than I got any hints about milking butterflies.

    * I was told to produce all sorts of metals before I was told how to mine and smelt basic metal.

These are just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are a few that I'm missing.

Sounds like there should be stricter dependencies between skills, to limit the learning and quests order to one that makes sense. Or a way to delay quests until they make sense. (That might also help with too many quests coming in at once after some offline learning.)

  • Cooking just needs an all-around rework, imo. How can I love it so much in real life and positively dread it in Glitch?

  • same here, learning to cook was harder than it should have been. I probably spent two days trying to figure out how to make a stupid bun.

  • I think it's great to have quests you can't complete on your list. It makes you wonder how you'd do it!

As long as other quests make their way into your life too.. then where's the bad? Just leave it for later.
