Help! I've crashed and I can't get up.

As I went to Somewhat Sump a few minutes ago, Flash crashed, probably because there's a project going on there and lots of people on the street. Now I can't get back into the game because every time I try, I'm put back onto Somewhat Sump, which crashes Flash again.

Perhaps a "where would you like to start?" option could be available after a crash, to avoid this automatic reloading of the situation which caused the crash in the first place.

  • Same thing just happened to me - I left the subway station and crashed. I managed to get back on when I changed my quality to low.

  • same thing's happening to me! :(

  • @Merody how do you change your quality to low?
Posted 23 months ago by Alexis Hex Subscriber! | Permalink
  • changing quality to low doesn't help for me. :'(

  • I can't change anything... I'm basically locked out of the game until the project's over and people leave Somewhat Sump, I suspect. Could someone inform the developers of this? I'd love to play while I actually have some time to do so.

  • Same here, kinda glad to know it's not just me...

  • Alexis Hex, if you right-click on the game window, you'll get a pop-up window with Flash settings in it. You should be able to choose "Quality" and then "Low," theoretically.

  • Hey there

I just teleported you all out to Groddle Forest Junction, so if you want to reenter game, please do. You may have problems getting into Somewhat Sump again however. Sorry about that there!

  • I guess a lot of us got caught up in the flash problem, even when I wasn't in Somewhat Sump it struggled. Thanks for heads up on flash settings glum pudding, I'll keep that info.

  • Yep, same thing happened to me. I had a heck of a time getting in there the first time. I got in there easier the second time I went there.

  • Thank you for moving me to GFJ, KevBob. If only I hadn't been off making tea... as soon as I got back, GOD piped up with his fifteen-minutes-left speech. What a jerk.

Anyway, now that I know that project streets can make me crash for two hours, I won't be participating in any more projects unless there's some way to do so remotely while still receiving participation credit. This puts a damper on the game for me, but I don't really see another option.

  • there were TONS of people at somewhat sump. i count 15 in the below screenshot alone.
    www.flickr.com/photos/flick...

i've never seen so many gathered around one project before. might be 'cos there was only 1 active project this time round.

    suggestions:
    1. don't put active projects and subway stops in the same place.
    2. open more than 1 project at a time so that players are spread out more.

  • Sorry for the grind on Somewhat Sump while that project was cranking that kept some of you out, we're definitely working on making things like this work more smoothly. :)
Posted 23 months ago by kevbob Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yeah, there were plenty of people working on that project... or just waiting round for the next phase to begin: i.imgur.com/kK8Py.png ;) (30 people!!!)

  • Am I there twice?
Posted 23 months ago by Amy Pond Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I'm also there twice. I'm the one looking like a rabbit caught in head lights. Sorry if it made things worst by just being there. I was just a very overenthusiastic by stander who desperately wanted to join in but had no way of knowing what to do or who to ask for guidance. When Glitch does go live I sure hope any newer players will get to figure it all out.
Currently sitting at confused.com lol :)

  • Thanks for the rescue KevBob. Just in time to get home to my piggies! A good learning experience at least!

  • And once again... I tried to get into the project street in Shimla Mirch, and I'm locked out of the game. Can a dev please whisk me away? :/
Posted 22 months ago by glum pudding Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Hmm- ok, you should be at Tallish Crest when you return, just outside the quarter sign (it appears you were in your residence just prior).

  • I'm a little hot headed right now, so I'll save most of my comments for a cooler time, but the craziness with lag, not being able to open a street spirit to contribute, getting into the spirit and not having the project recognize when a task is finished, and waiting 5 minutes for the page to reload if I choose to go that route finally broke me. I realize this is beta, I do love this game and the dev team, but this isn't fun. At all.

Will wrap up later with a more cogent response, but I do hope that projects can get back to a better, more stable state (I've been in many tests where they worked better). ;-)

  • The problem earlier somehow worked itself out, possibly because people left the street I was trying to enter, but it's happening again... I very stupidly accepted the free teleport to Pungent Ponds, and I guess there are a lot of people there right now. The "readying..." bar fills, the chat windows appear, everything freezes, and the game crashes.

  • It finally loaded! Nevermind... but I do think this is the worst part of the game for me.
