players make a 30 minute journey [or more], jumping, trekking, climbing, running rapid by canoe and portaging through wilderness.
this should require eating a lot of bannock and pemmican to keep one's energy levels high.

along the way, mysterious creatures and spirits of the remotest woods may be encountered.
one's ultimate destination would be a trading post selling the finest of beaver fur pelts, which could be purchased in bulk.
admittance to the trading post could require wearing a Furry Hat [with optional coon tail?] and a Ceinture fléchée:

after purchasing furs, one would trek back to the city and then sell to merchants at tremendous mark up, or trade for hooch. pelts could be fashioned into "fancy hats" by those with the Millinery skill.

the most effective way to make the journey would be via Voyageur Canoe, using river routes. at points along the route one would be given the option of running rapids or Portaging:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portage
running rapids would require "jumping" the canoe over rapidly approaching rocks. if you hit a rock, the canoe would crash and you'd lose the entire contents of your pack with the exception of bannock or pemmican, which would merely transform into "soggy bannock" or "soggy pemmican".
portaging would avoid this issue, but would be more time consuming. one might also run into interesting forest dwellers while portaging that you'd zip past when running rapids.
so a potential strategy might then be to carry only bannock and pemmican on the journey to the trading post and run the rapids. then, after purchasing pelts, return via portage to avoid risking the valuable cargo to the whims of the waters.
group effort!
groups could get involved on communal adventures by following a leader. advantages would include the ability to operate a Large Canoe [which would be ridiculously slow for one player to paddle or portage with] and bringing company to talk and sing songs with along the lengthy journey. singing songs might make the paddling and portaging go more quickly. the Large Canoe could enable much bigger hauls of pelts, and greater profit for everyone.
