  • 33,315 for a squid  and 1,000 for the commons isn't accurate lol. There has been too much overcharging going on and this list seems to be much more fair. If there are any prices you think should be lower or higher please tell me so I can adjust them! :)

  • I agree with Sludge.  I do think that some of those numbers are way too steep, especially since the cubimals don't even ultimately do much in this game.  I wish that there was a way that you could look on someone's profile and see what cubimals they've collected, and eventually there should be more mini-games that your cubimals could participate in.

  • Ah, but the new list reflects a price that is more accurate overall. The price of cubimals is entirely subjective. If you're going to pay that, you're going to pay that. But traders that aren't trying to make up losses for 20 boxes of chicks aren't going to charge most of the prices on that list. Most of the traders don't. Some of the prices on PP's list are about in the right range, but a good few go way over actual going prices, and I consider that list the bane of cubimal trading. Someone actually tried to sell commons to someone new at trading for the price on that list. Luckily, someone that cared less about artificially inflating prices just gave them the commons, because really, most traders have tons. It also gives newbie traders the wrong expectation that they're going to be able to sell at or above those prices, when in fact values are below most of them.

Cubimals collectors, especially new ones, need a list to go by that isn't based on average price from a ton of boxes. Commons aren't worth anywhere from 1169 for butterflies to 2961 for slightly less common ones. Pay what you want, but don't expect honest traders to use the old list to rip off other collectors.

  • THANK YOU SLUDGE!

Point is this:  There were people out there taking Paddy Pablo's guide and using it as the "go to " for what to charge, with like no flexibility.  I'll admit, I used that list religiously!  That being said-I used it as a GUIDE. Knowing the asking prices were wayyy too high for most collectors, I'd look at the list and use that number/rarity to dial back the price to what I felt was fair.

A newbie to collecting may pay 26k for a Smuggler only to find out that most of us only charge 10-15k for him while someone who only needs a smuggler to complete their collection would be willing to pay ANY price.  It's just a matter of making sure people who are selling know that there is variance in the market.

  • Someone was trying to get tens of thousands for a squid recently. I told them I'd gotten 4 squids out of 10 boxes purchased, that they were nuts to charge that much, that PP's list wasn't a representation of the actual trading value. They just didn't get it, thought I didn't know what they, in their special intelligence had gleaned from PP's post in the trader's group. Like I wasn't in the same group, LOL.

PP's list is interesting and informative, but not a realistic guideline for trading. It's the nature of the game that we take some loss when we gamble on a blind box.

    Thank you so much, Sludge.

  • Just remember that boxes do cost 5000, just because you get a common item a lot from the box doesn't mean that you paid any less for it.
Posted 14 months ago by Sethy Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @ Sethy By that same token, the Rook is worth the same as a chick, because whoever opened it didn't pay any more for it.

The commons are valued at less because no one wants to buy them unless they're just starting out collecting. Why pay 5000 currants for a butterfly when you can open a box and get one?

  • LOL Linar! As far as lists go, this is actually true--people will only pay what its worth to them.  A rook may be less valuable than a chick to the right person who has been very very lucky when opening boxes,  Sludge's list, just like PP's list, is just a general guide. The first being "what we've been seeing them sell for in general" and the second being "based on the data I have, here's how I have interpreted the value".  Both great tools, but certainly not to be used as the blue book value of a cubimal.

  • Since I'm referenced in this topic, I may as well chime in. :)

The list I made is best understood as the the price that the Toy Vendors themselves are charging for specific cubimals, once you get rid of the randomness (or at least what they were charging at the time of the data collection; the distribution may change periodically, who knows?).

The whole point of buying something from someone else is that they are selling it cheaper than the vendor is. Also, every time someone buys or gets a cubimal box, that adds to the pile of cubimals in the open market and drives prices down. Since there are a lot of players and a lot of opened cubimals in this game, the market price should be significantly lower than the prices on my list (and expectedly, they are lower; much lower for commons, and somewhat lower for rares).

At the end of my post about the list, I said that my list was just the vendor price and that we need people to collect data on what the actual market price of cubimals is.

@Sludge, I'm not sure what your method was for getting your numbers but I commend you on your effort to put together a list reflecting the fair market value (ie, what prices people are actually buying and selling them at). That is just what we need.

    .

PS. There are some finer points to all this, mathwise, but instead of rehashing them here and boring everyone, I'll let you read them in my original posts if you're interested.

  • Just to chime in, unless there has been a large influx of Rubes in the past 3 days, the going price has been between 170 and 200k.

While I appreciate a list like this, the value of rares can get distorted; it all comes down to market supply and demand.
Posted 13 months ago by Stars Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yeah, the price of Rubes has shot up because not many are for sale.

  • Does anyone have an update on cubimal values?  I've got to say I've been selling mine pretty cheap, as in at least 2 - 4k less than the low end of the values up the top for semi-rares.

The market does seem to be dropping for semi-rares but going up for rares.  Thoughts on this?
Posted 13 months ago by spunsugar Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yeti needs to be updated i think, theyre worth a little more then that latley as they are more scarce or is it just me who notices that?
Posted 13 months ago by Clone Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Spun- You are selling for too little.  Every time I list a cubi at the high end value, they sell.

  • For those that are interested in the kind of numbers I made, I updated them with the new Savi & Phool rarity data:
