The Glitch NatUralist

glitchnaturalist.tumblr.com/
Documenting the flora and fauna of Glitch!  Right now it's focused on the firebog, but that won't always be the case.

  • How cool is this?  I"ve seen several players with names of plant families, which tickled me. :)

  • Fascinating!

  • This is gorgeous :)

May I ask if most of these names are invented/based on real world botany/official?  or will they be retconned later if Glitch officially gives them other names?

  • If the devs release names, they will be noted--often this occurs in the real world, of course, where even scientific names can be squabbled over and debated by people who may have discovered the organism separatedly :)

  • Botia - indeed!  the famous example of Pluto :) but also on a smaller scale like how suddenly this plant is actually part of a different family, etc.

  • Awesome project! I haven't spent that much time in the swamps, so there's lots that I haven't noticed. Heck, even in the areas that I have been in, the art is so great that it's too easy to accidentally miss details. Thank goodness the NatUralist acts as an awesome overflow point!

  • Great blog there as it reminds me of the crazy boggers at Camosun Bog! There is actually a blog that lists of the different bog species with pictures for plants like sphagnum moss, arctic starflower, labrador tea, bog laurel, etc.

  • 1. Cool!

    2. Nuuuu! Big Ancient and Lure Fish are more likely to be two entirely different species! Not juvenile and adult.

    Lure Fish

Clog like vertebrae w/ distinct separations.
3 Rib sets of differnet lengths, the longest of which are longer than the skull
    Fangs
    Triangular tailbone
    erm, lure

    Big Ancient

    No visible separations of vertebrae
7 rib sets of approx the same length less than the skull
    thick rod-like tailbone
    Nasal cavity

Big Ancient smaller than Lure Fish

    3. erm a trio in Bakean Sutter I didn't see an option for photo reply
