Playing Glitch on an Android device (or your iPad/Ipod)

I've finally found a way to play Glitch on my Android phone! It's a bit of a cheat, but it means that if I'm lying in bed unable to sleep, I can just whip out my phone and do a spot of mining ...

Here's how to do it: I'm using an app called SplashTop ( www.splashtop.com/remote/av... ). You can install the streamer software on a PC or Mac, then use your phone/tablet to get remote access to the machine.

Ok, it's cheating, and you do require a machine to serve as a host; but hey it does the job. The app was discounted to $0.99 today, which was a pretty small price to pay.

  • people have been using apps like the Puffin Browser for iOS to do this for some time now, without requiring a dedicated host.

  • I just learned that I can I can start a skill using my iPad---no special app or anything. I know I can't actually play (I may try Puffin tho--thx, Striatic), but it is great to be able to have the Rock learnin' something when game opens but I'm away from desktop.

  • I just tried puffin on an ipad, technically it works great, but it is pretty awkward without a keyboard and my finger is not as precise in clicking on stuff as a mouse.

  • you can pull up a keyboard in puffin, but it doesn't have arrow keys.

  • @FrankenPaula: Do you use a stylus with your keyboard? I had the hardest time typing om my iPad (long nails) until I got one. What a difference!

  • You should join the Android Glitches group! :D

  • Striatic, how do I pull up the keyboard? That would help if I want to select one of several overlapping animals in my house. Rachel, a stylus never occured to me, I guess I can just use a nintendo stylus?

  • @ FrankenPaula: I don't know about nintendo. Best way I can describe mine is that it's about 5 inches long, about 1/4 in round with a rounded rubber tip. Oh--and it's hot pink---LOL. Only cost about $10.00.

  • I guess the rubber tip is important, the ipad doesn't respond at all to the nintendo stylus with a plastic tip. That should solve the moving around issue since I'd have arrow keys (and a return button). Also, I totally have to get a keyboard dock so I can play while on vacation. :)

  • thought you could use the w,a,s and d keys for moving around? So arrow keys wouldn't matter...

  • I'm gonna need to try using my iPod to play this sometime.  It would be cool if the developers made an official ipod version though.

  • @FrankenPaula You need a special stylus to work on the iPad (and iPhone) screen, because the stylus needs to conduct electricity (like your fingers).

The Pogo Sketch has one in hot pink ;-)

Here's a page with a few on it:
