Player-Created Art Work

In a General Forum discussion about player-created recipes, the problem of art work to illustrate those recipes was brought up.

I'd like to see a way for players to add art to the game, so that, for example, I could draw or photograph lasagne and assign it to a recipe.  Or create a frame to hang in my house, and fill the frame with a favorite image.

(oh wait, did I just re-invent photosharing in a game?)  ;-)

  • The problem with this is that Glitch has a very distinct style of art already and I lllloooovvvveee the style and artwork.  Maybe there can be contests, like players submit artwork and then people can vote on it and it can be incorporated somehow.

  • I agree with that, Laurali. I really want the visual style of the game to stay consistent. I like the idea of being able to submit artwork and have it reviewed or voted on, though.

I don't know if something like this exists already, but it would be interesting if the developers allowed certain recipes to remain hidden and allowed people to "discover" them. Maybe the first person to create a particular recipe in game could be the "inventor" and get some recognition somehow? The same could go for artwork submitted by users for review.

  • +1. I like the idea of player contributions, but I can't see a way to make this work without sacrificing the visual style, which is key.

  • i think photos are right out, and voting on submitted designs to be re-drawn in glitch style before being added is best.

however i do think the game should incorporate basic MS Paint style drawing tools for players to make drawings.

these drawings would have to be restricted to customized logos or patterns on the front of clothing, drawings to share via notes and drawings to hang up in the home.

basically crayon drawings *on* in game items, not drawings representing the items themselves.
