There are some upgrades I frequently wish I hadn't bought. Internal Sortitude, which seems astoundingly talented at doing anything but what you actually wanted, is one such. Another is the Big'un Triple Jump. It's so randomly overpowered and uncontrollable that it's more handicap than upgrade.
The Big'Un would be much more of an advantage, rather than a booby-trap, if it were re-implemented as an additional 100% - or even 50% - bonus to every triple jump, instead of as a random "KAWHANGO!!! Suddenly you're in the stratosphere!"
Seriously, I miss way more jumps on account of the Big'Un unexpectedly triggering, than I ever make on account of it occasionally happening to fortuitously trigger at a time when it's actually useful. It's often hard enough to get a triple-jump as it is, once Flash starts lagging. "......Oh, hey, did you jump, there? I was snoozing."
Remember the cat-shaving coffeemaker analogy? The Big'Un Triple Jump in its present form is like a rich uncle who occasionally randomly offers you a fine cigar. He means well, but he doesn't know that one of his less stable Moose Lodge buddies secretly loaded three of every four cigars in his cigar box with exploding squibs from Krazy Al's Klown Supply.
"Sure I can make that jump. I'll just -" *KABLAMMO!*
"...Hey, is that Ix down there, or Firozi? It's kinda hard to tell from this altitude."
