Is there any way to grow herbs in a crop garden?
Can an herb plot be 'created' on your own property?
Or...is it in certain areas only?
Thanks in advance for any useful info.
You need a herb garden to grow herbs. You can find herb gardens on the Mazza'la continent (Chakra Phool, Jethimadh, Kalavana, Shimla Mirch) - there are community herb gardens, as well as private herb plots attached to houses.
The lack of personal herb growing space apart from in the less attractive houses is a disappointment; especially given the amount you need to grow for the achievement. I hope this is addressed in the 'upcoming' house make overs...
Some people prefer the look of the bog houses...they are more warm and homey than the others...so, not sure it's accurate to call them less attractive homes...beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Many have asked for at least an herbal pot or two, to be able to place in the crop only homes. We'll see if they allow this. One of the concerns is that if all homes have all resources, then there would be little to no reason for social interaction.
They're specifically called "Garden Plots," with the two kinds being "Herb Garden Plots" and "Crop Garden Plots" if that helps clarify the nomenclature :)
Well; whilst the garden crops are so much more useful than the majority of the herbs, work better with skills (for bonus's) and drop the blessings as bonus's (which I think the herbs don't yet do) then it's not really a debate unless you really prefer the look of the swamp houses.
As it is I'm prone to trench foot and fireflies get up my nose... ;)
I really like the idea of having a container garden pot purchasable for herbs. Even a maximum of say 2 pots would be terrific. Note that IRL I grow herbs all summer in New Hampshire... and have pushed away snow to clip Thyme in the middle of the winter. Many herbs are VERY hardy. Some of the hardy ones will not grow well at all in the south, in fact.
So, if the weather is an issue, then create some stuff that's meant to be super-hardy and make it growable only in the forests, and keep some things only growable in the desert (or whatever the heck the southlands are... they look like fireswamp. :-)
I would prefer having an option of buying at least one place-able pot for herbs/plants. It would be really nice to not have to trek all the way over to a community garden and have to stay there so no one harvested my plots accidentally-on-purpose.
It's not quite accurate to say you have to choose. I don't care one whit about being able to grow crops, but I *do* want to grow herbs... and unfortunately can't stand the vibe/look/sound of the bog houses where herbs can be grown. So... while I have a "choice", I really don't have an actual choice.
+1 to any change that would allow a choice of garden plot type, even if it means paying more.
I'm with WalruZ, in that I like there being a definite choice, and I hope that customisation doesn't take away the need for some degree of compromise. Having herb plots available in other houses, or container gardens to provide a few plots of the other crop? Fine enough. But allowing players to turn their currant stashes into houses with "lots of everything" would, I think, be detrimental to the game.
If anybody is interested, I recently started a group called the Home Sharing Association, with the goal of helping people with bog houses connect with those with crop gardens and set up some sort of arrangement for garden sharing (or sharing of other resources). If you're interested, please join!
