Dear devs, please don't bury announcements

Apparently, the latest test was announced in a response to a comment on twitter (seems it will start on Wednesday, for those of you who haven't gotten word yet).  Several times before, the opening date/time was announced wayyyyyyyyyyy down in one of the many "are we there yet?" threads.

Can you please make a habit of putting relevant-to-everyone announcements at the top level?  An actual post on twitter.  A new "blue for devs" thread on the forums.  Something we don't have to dig for.  Some of us had to go back to real life this fall (and some of us were already there), so we don't have the time or inclination to obsessively check every thread.

  • Agreed--I spend a fair amount of time on these forums, but have no interest in also checking twitter and/or facebook for information that isn't posted here. I would appreciate a notice at the top of the forums screen, or even the home page, with important announcements like when we'll be opening, or a link to a page with description of updates recently implemented, etc..

  • I would like that too! I have been hunting the forums looking for the latest Dev announcement, however vague, about playtest scheduling. (And I don't spend a lot of time on the forums. It's best for my blood pressure.)

Last I heard, @isglitchopen tweeted (at playtest close on Friday) that the next test would start "mid-week(ish)."

I see people assuming that the test will end before the long weekend, because Glitch Devs need long holiday weekends same as anyone else. (With Tiny Speck being dually located in the US and in Canada, will they celebrate US Labor Day, Canadian Labor Day, or both? *g*)

That said, I could understand the reluctance to build a piece of Glitch that will specifically become outdated once Glitch goes live. Still, it seems it could be built into the same mechanism that governs the "game is closed" signs and markers, right?

At least one doesn't have to have a Twitter account or be a compulsive Tweeting Twit like I am *g* to see what was last said on @isglitchopen.

I am all about the effective flow of relevant information.

I don't seem to be getting emails when new tests start, either. I hate to be even a few minutes late to the start of a test :3

  • Vortexae--the last tweet stated that the game will open on Wednesday. Yes, you have to search through all the threads to find users quoting it, but the info is buried in the forums. I would like it better if it were posted here by a dev in an immediately obvious way at the same time it is placed on Twitter.

  • I heartily agree - a dev area to post relevant/timely info is very much needed without having to dig through posts looking for the blue staff bubble.

  • I don't have a twitter account I usually check in to see if the closed sign is down (SEVERAL times a day) my son (7) keeps asking me "Mom, why do you go there all you see is your person" lmao...well he LOVES to get on the computer when I am working...but when Glitch has run I try and wring every second out of it...I love the game...and the anticipation...it's kinda of like Christmas morning and seeing my presents....

  • Nice job, Larky! You obviously have the devs in your pocket. Now ask for some ponies, wouldja?

  • Ohhhh  +1 for ponies!  A pony could carry all the extra stuff that won't fit in my backpack!

  • Lilith, I already got them to open the game on my birthday, so I'd better not get too greedy!  Give it a couple months, and then I'll ask for ponies.  With a cherry on top.

  • PONY GLITTER. By the truckload.

(And anyone who knows what I'm referring to without resorting to Google gets a truckload of geek points and a shiny Internet of his/her very own.)
