meat/milk collection rate data

Many of us have been curious about the rate of meat/milk collection and how it's influenced by # of collectors and animals getting "confused". So I thought I'd try to start collecting some data on collection rate, to see how much it's affected by collectors.

14 butterflies, 6 collectors, 7 hours = 230 milk
21 pigs, 8 collectors, 7 hours = 240 meat

  • That's a good idea!
    here what I have:
    19 pigs, 4 collectors, 4 hours = still 156 meat

  • i feel like with the meat collectors its 1 meat per minute with 4 collectors and they arent confused but im not 100% on this data.. i have alot of other thoughts too but i will add more later, is bed time now :)

  • 19 pigs, 5 collectors, 3 hours = 120 meat (it means 2 meat collectors are full)
19 pigs, 5 collectors, 4 hours = 176 meat (interesting by adding only one collectors i get even more meat)

  • ok well it takes approximately 1 1/2 hours for each meat collector to fill up completely when the piggies are not confused with 17 pigs and 4 meat collectors, but it seems to take only 15 minutes for another one to start filling up with 17 meats..

  • How do you know if the animal is confused?
Posted 13 months ago by Billy McBinky Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Ok after 7 hours I will tell how much meat i collected in next 7 hours with 5 meat collector
Posted 13 months ago by Miamor Subscriber! | Permalink
  • it says that they are confused when you put too many collectors in a little notice pops up in the corner of the screen
Posted 13 months ago by Rini Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I know it says they get confused if there are too many in the item description. I have never seen a pop-up notice to that effect, so I guess I'm fine.

  • Billy how many meat collectors do you have?

  • Confirmed at my 50 k House in Andra, I believe I have found a pretty much ideal setup.
    19 Piggies, 8 Butterflies
    7 Meat collectors, 3 Feeders, 3 Milkers
Make sure all 3 feeders have food in them, and overnight (Roughly a 8hr or so span) All 7 meat collectors and 3 Milkers will be full.
One of the most important things about this setup is that the meat collectors CANNOT overlap. So when placing your items make sure you are 1 Glitch step out of the "highlighted" area, and you'll be golden.
Have been doing this for a week now and every morning all 7 meat collectors are full.

  • I have 7 meat collectors and 14 pigs
Posted 13 months ago by Billy McBinky Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Das Boot, the point is that you're probably undercollecting; if they're "all full" then you're probably missing out on potential collection. Ideally, you should log in as there's only 1 or 2 away from full, since that means you won't miss out.

  • I edited my data up there and here what I get:
    19 pigs, 4 collectors, 4 hours = 156 meat
    19 pigs, 5 collectors, 4 hours = 176 meat
So does it mean adding more meat collectors is more useful?
Or what other factors can affect this, happiness of piggies, full 80/80 piggy feeder?
Posted 13 months ago by Miamor Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Miri Tazapin, Idealy yes you should log in at that time however, with a busy work schedule getting up in the middle of the night to empty my meat collectors is not going to happen :) My point is to say, that with the setup i mentioned, in a nights time while your sleeping, you will come back to 7 Full Meat Collectors, which is well worth it IMO. I will Monitor mine tonight and try and time it for you exactly to help with the calculations.
@Miamor the only thing i have seen affect it is if the feeders go empty, it seems to have no affect whether the Feeders are full or half full.
-One big factor is make sure none of your equipments pixels are overlapping -- as this can cause issues.

  • Hi Miri, how is your collection data?
Posted 13 months ago by Miamor Subscriber! | Permalink
  • and there were silence....

  • i'm curious; why does overlapping matter? i have mine in the exact same spot and haven't noticed any problems

  • Being a dedicated pig farmer from day one, I can maybe offer some useful observations:

    - At intervals, each pig donates 1 meat to the first collector machine in the queue (probly sequence of placement)
    - The time interval starts off at 25 mins (real-time), and decreases by approx. 1m for every additional collector after the second, but with diminishing returns
    - The interval trails off around 23 mins (ie, 4th collector), thereafter the benefit of adding yet more collectors become negligible, other than for capacity
    - When the 10th collector is placed you'll get a game msg saying "the animals are freaked out" or something to that effect
    - From trial and error, the optimal ratio of collectors:pigs is about 1:3
    - Overlapping has no effect on whether collectors collect or not, but accessible pathing do

If anyone has contravening data, please share!

  • Something else to add: apparently there's a cumulative chance to collect zero meats once the pigs become "confused". Independently verified.
Posted 13 months ago by Wayfarer Subscriber! | Permalink
  • It is also important to pet your piggies once in a while. Mine stopped one day and started again after I pet them all.

  • Whether you can have them overlap or not depends on the house type you have. It's an acknowledged bug that in some house types the collectors have to be at least 1 pixel apart or you get zero meat.

  • No, I started in 3.5k and 5k bog houses before moving out of lowland slough. Overlapping did not affect the harvests.
Posted 13 months ago by Wayfarer Subscriber! | Permalink
  • In what house types specifically does it matter? I live in a large modern home, and all my piggies are in the pen.

  • just want to put this out there:
30 pigs, 10 collectors: ALL FULL every RL day
9 Butterflies, 3 collecors: ALL FULL every RL day

I have not noticed ANY "confusion" at all, even when I collect the individual harvests

  • I can only have 16 pigs at a 7.5k bog house, if I put more they die, is this normal?
Posted 12 months ago by AbelC Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Yes
Posted 12 months ago by BTS0x0 Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @AbelC: Yes each house type has a limit to the max number of animals that can be kept. the bigger the house, the more animals
Usually they tell you they are sad first

  • was wondering- can some nice glitch please post the link to an earlier thread that also had this kind of data? I cant seem to find it- and wanted to look at both threads for comparison ..
    thanks.

  • @ Djoe6897

Some clarification over the "confused" issue:

There is a roll to see if meats/milk are collected at every time interval, so you may have missed a roll or 2 yet collectors will still be full when you login the next day, since most of the other rolls during your absence will pass.

It is most easily verified by checking both the pig and butterfly collectors every half hour or so; sometimes one type will show higher count while the other doesn't. That means a missed roll due to animals' "confusion".
