Support our Farmers!! Crops have been shortchanged in Glitch and here's proof.

Most grown crops are part of only 2 or 3 recipes - in some cases, the same ones (such as the crudites.)

Crops

Broccoli - 2
Cabbage  - 2
Carrot   - 2
Corn     - 5
Cucumber - 2
Onion    - 10
Parsnip  - 2
Potato   - 6
Rice     - 2
Spinach  - 5
Tomato   - 9 (3 are sauces)
Zucchini - 1

Meat, Dairy and Grain

Bun     - 10
Cheese  - 20
Egg     - 15
Meat    - 22
Milk    - 9

Zucchini gets ONE recipe, while meat gets 22?   Cucumber gets 2, and one of those is pickle?  The only green vegetable that gets more than 2 recipes is Spinach, with 5.

Is this fair?   Is this healthy?   I say NO!    Demand more crop-based recipes so that Glitchen can eat closer to the land!  Post to this thread and show your support for the farmers of Ur!  Fight big Pork and Milk!  Demand more vegetable-based recipes NOW!!

  • there's no recipe for CURRY!

-- specifically, there is no recipe that USES curry.  None.  There's nothing you can do with it but make it and then eat it.  There is a CLEAR anti-East-Asian bias here.    MANY of the other spices are only used in ONE dish.  Apparently when the giants imagined food they just reached for the salt shaker by default.   I would think that since the giants live in San Francisco and Vancouver, cities that have lots of good food, perhaps they would be a little more knowledgeable about spicing food.  Perhaps they just eat out a lot and are oblivious to what goes into their orders.   Tsk.

  • I  love the  humor in this thread, but I'm going to get serious for a moment because this is something that has a real impact on my game play.

Not only are there just a few recipes for most crops, the quantity of crop items required is low relative to other types of items required.  I've recently needed to calculate the resource requirements for vegan meals/drinks. To prepare one of each of these would require a total of 231 tree harvest items and 28 crop items (along with 17 grocery items).

You might say "Well, tree harvest items like cherries and bubbles are cheaper than crop items like broccoli or carrots." But if you look at actual market prices, you will see that this is not so. What you also will see is that market prices for crops are generally lower than the listed "street price," while market prices for tree harvest items are generally higher -- sometimes significantly so.

Adding more recipes will not help farmers unless those recipes require a significantly higher proportion of vegetables.  And while I love the wonderfully clever and creative recipes people have suggested, I have found that most Glitchen do not bother with variety in their diet -- even with the recently added IMG bonus -- unless it is thrust upon them or a byproduct of getting badges. Relying on just a few kinds of food and drinks most of the time makes it easier to manage bag inventory, and also to know how much to consume in order to replenish energy and mood.

So, rather than having lots more recipes that require a few more vegetables, perhaps we could have some other uses for vegetables.  Perhaps vegetables could be combined with crystals to make fireworks.  Or we could have flamingos that eat only vegetables. Or a vegetable-intensive potion that keeps the llamas away at night.

  • Curry plus vegetable stew!

  • Honestly, as a high level player, who rarely ever eats, the iMG bonus to eating a variety of things is not really beneficial to me at all. Especially considering I need to eat a lot of awesome stews or other high energy yield things to restore my 6000+ energy tank. Sure, I could eat a bunch of, say, green eggs but the energy provided and the bonus iMG is so low that its not really beneficial at all.

So, I want more variety of high yield recipes utilizing a lot more vegetables and resources.

    also, Purp Brownies. FTW.
