Fact: The more options we add, the fewer things we'll sell :\
So, we are unlikely to add another one after PayPal, at least for a while. (Though if we did, it would probably be Amazon Payments instead of Google Checkout — sorry quoo!)
Our current payments system is very secure: all SSL/HTTPS, we don't store card #s or other information ourselves, and our gateway provider, Braintree, is "a Level 1 PCI DSS Compliant Provider" (which means something, to some people).
That is only just becoming available in some countries, I am waiting for mine and I am liable to be one of the first as I had a top up card previously.
Too many small time (and big time) payment vendors get pwned for me to seriously trust any homegrown or untested payment solution (sorry Tiny Speck, its nothing personal).
For this reason, I buy a few $50 Visa gift cards from my local Safeway and just use those for online transactions of this nature. Works well for me for now. Once Paypal support is implemented I'll use that.
I'd prefer Google Checkout over all though so AMZN payments over Goog checkout makes me a sad panda.
Hi jjbob, in other treads Stoot mentioned they will have Paypal activated well before the end of beta, so we will benefit the same as the others who are already buying. I can't wait either, have seen some gorgeous new clothes, but happy to wait because I know they are working SO SO SO hard to make Glitch more perfect every day. And all things take time. So trust our wonderful team of devs...and all will work out in time. (if not, you will see a little glitch crying next to her gnome outside her house lol lol)
My preferred method to pay would also be PayPal.
However, one of our credit cards has a great feature - it allows us to create a virtual, one-time-use credit card number. I just go to my account info on their web site, and create a special credit card number which is linked to my account. It expires after 1 month, so I can use it immediately, or not. I can also make a virtual number any time I need one (not just 1 a month... I am not aware of a limit though I suppose there might be one).
It's very handy, and we use it for any online purchase or even purchases made over the phone.
Perhaps your credit card company has something similar available?
+1 on paypal! Please! I'll make a purchase as soon as it's added. It has nothing to do with security. I'm just too lazy to go to my purse and get my wallet out so I can type in the credit card info. :)
Actually glad to hear that paypal is on the roadmap. AND, thanks Stoot for sharing your PCI compliant cc payment vendor, helpful info (hadn't heard of braintree before).
