play glitch on ipad or iphone

not sure if everyone knows already but it's possible to play Glitch perfectly well on an ipad. I am testing it now I presume it will work on iphone also.I am using the new LogMeIn app on my IPad2 WiFi connected to to a networked PC at my home. At present I have connected to my pc via a miFi dongle. I started the Logmein software on my pc and started Glitch through opera browser. Not much more to report as yet

  • So you mean the actual game? Or just the forums, auctions, etc. If it's actually the game, I can't wait to see the results!

  • Crazy q - you're using an iPad 2; any idea if this would work on a first generation iPad?
Posted 12 months ago by SloanPeterson Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Don't see why it shouldn't.  All you'd need is a remote desktop app like LogMeIn that will allow you to connect to your home PC/Mac and play Glitch on it.

  • em, why do you need logmein app and a mifi dongle? When you load up the glitch it scales to fit your screen resolution. If you zoom out, you get the normal page with the "enter the world" button. Else just hit up http://www.glitch.com/game/ on your device. There is little point in trying to play the game on a phone though, as has been pointed out it is very tedious.

  • really? i thought it wouldnt work on apple due to it not supporting flash?
Posted 12 months ago by blackwidow Subscriber! | Permalink
  • There is a "Puffin" App for iphone and ipad.  It runs flash with out the need to be routed through your pc. I have used it on occasion. Works ok  until  you want to climb any where.  Must add  it is NOT supported by TS so don't go asking for help if you get stuck! :)

  • Yes you can run the actual game. Can't be certain but should run on ipad1 with iOS5 xCould be made easier to play on an iphone with an attached mini keyboard ie:- t.co/LbaGfsqd

  • I used a mifi dongle to test that it works from a remote location. The PC is running Flash but avatars and interaction in-game is controlled on Ipad using touch screen gestures or on-screen keyboard. Couls also use a bluetooth keyboard.

  • Heh... logMeIn is a utility that's like remote desktop for windows.  What is happening is that you are controlling your PC through your iPad.  So it not exactly playing Glitch on the iPad. But that works!
Posted 12 months ago by Enelyse Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Enelyse:It works a lot better than running it on the iPad/iPhone with something like Puffin from all accounts.

  • RofLoL!

Glitch works just fine on an iPad2. Load Safari and away you go.

    Everything works as it should.
Posted 12 months ago by MeherMan Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Merherman, Glitch does not work on safari straight from Ipad2.
Posted 12 months ago by Deroiste Quijote Subscriber! | Permalink
  • MeherMan you made me go check and NO you can not play using safari on ipad2. You can log on set skills and post here but not enter this world.

There is also an app called splashtop this also links ipad to pc. Works but again climbing is a no no. Also a reminder TS supports non of these app's :)

  • Misha, I've been sitting in a Hospital A&E ward running the Glitch game with full functionality all day, 20 miles away from my home PC on my iPad2. Climbing and all interactions do work as there is a virtual Keyboard/ Mouse on the Logmein app. Also the apple  Bluetooth Keyboard works. I am using the very new app  "LogMein"  iOS5x app available on the iTunes app store from today(I only heard about it today anyway). No problem about support. I was interested in it as I was stuck in Hospital all over Christmas and only had my iPad2. As far as support goes; fair enough but then I am running the Glitch browser app'  initially on my home PC and that is supported. Touchscreen gestures seem to work ok, ie:-  can select objects, point to a target position. I'm getting an iPhone4s tommorrow and will try functionality on that and report here.

  • Try it and see anyway. It's dead nice to play glitch on a touch screen. Simple add on bluetooth or virtual Keyboard completes the array.  I was upset at Merherman Rolling on the floor, Laughing out Loud at my suggestion but hey ho, if you don't try you'll never know.
Posted 12 months ago by Deroiste Quijote Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I think IPhone doesn't work, because you need Flash to play Glitch.
Posted 12 months ago by TacosBeFriends Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Nah Tacosbefriends try it . it works on ipad 2. Your home PC plays the flash, you control your home PC playing Flash via Iphone/Pad.

  • Please.... I've been playing Glitch with full functionality via an ipad2 all day. Glitch runs on my home PC. I connect via Broadband wifi/mifi dongle.

  • Misha I'll double check with someone I know that has been playing Glitch on her iPad for a couple months.
Posted 12 months ago by MeherMan Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I find that I can connect, but climbing does not work, using iSwifter. It's fairly new, as far as I can tell, and is meant for flash games like those on facebook and google+, but they do say 'flash games', so I'm hoping that suggestions and bugs will be addressed for glitch, too. I've entered one for keyboard support, and offered my remaining invite if they need it for development and testing.

  • The LogMein app  available at secure.logmein.com/UK/ includes a virtual(On-screen) keyboard and mouse. This overcomes any problems with jumping climbing. as wood any connected hardware keyboard.

  • Ah, but iswifter does not use my other computer, which is handy as I don't leave it running when not in use.

Also, leaving it open for random connections makes me nervous.
Posted 12 months ago by Cathriara Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Understand that Cathriara. Logmein does have decent password protection as far as I can tell. However I was able to spook my wife tonight whilst I was out by initiating a wallpaper 'MS DOS Bluescreen'. "You have been using EBay too much and have over-heated your PC" etc.......

This video shows how Splashtop can steam it from your PC to the iPad, and works quite well.

  • "Misha I'll double check with someone I know that has been playing Glitch on her iPad for a couple months." I said that.

I was mistaken - never mind.
Posted 12 months ago by MeherMan Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Technically, it works on android perfectly out of te box. However, you cannot climb, use eyeballery, or a few other things that make the game very difficult without plugging in a keyboard. The Devs could probably make it totally touch screen playable without a ton of work, however.
Posted 12 months ago by QuinnR Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Hi, I'm sticking my two cents in here on this forum as Cathriara invited me to test out Glitch on my iPad. By the way, I help with iSwifter support so I've got a vested interest in getting Glitch to work on tablets and other things that are not too flash friendly. iSwifter is the same solution that Deroiste is using (having the Flash rendered remotely and then VPN over to your device), except we use cloud servers instead of your own computer. That being said, I tested Glitch, and the interface works well with moving around EXCEPT, jumping needs the spacebar pushed. Bringing up the virtual keyboard hides a lot of lower screen. Bummer. I also couldn't climb a tree. No arrow keys. - So I showed it to a dev here and next day got arrow keys on a small left screen controller and a spacebar button on the right side of the screen. We'll make this available for users on next release. But for now, Glitch is only 98% usable for users. Anything ELSE that can't be done with iSwifter and iPad, LET ME KNOW! I'm the guy who NEEDS to know.

  • I have it running in Puffin but am not able to bring up a keyboard - normal? I don't mind the limitations but is chatting one of them?
Posted 11 months ago by Isa McGillivary Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @ Isa I think so. It's pretty limited all around.
Posted 11 months ago by anacronismo Subscriber! | Permalink
  • No, chatting works fine with iSwifter virtual keyboard input.
Posted 11 months ago by Digimerc Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Does anyone know if the Kindle Fire has the capabilities to let you play the game?
Posted 11 months ago by theunwrittenword Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Digi, did you get Eyeballery? And you can double tap for jumping.
Posted 11 months ago by QuinnR Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Digimerc: If you slide the keyboard up, so it's split, it might not cover too much of the screen. That's what I've been doing elsewhere. Makes it considerably smaller, like a phone size keyboard for texting.
Posted 11 months ago by Wynella Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @theunwrittenword: Sounds like Kindle Fire supports Flash, though it may be using the VPN method (mentioned above). So hypothetically, it should. :)
Posted 11 months ago by Wynella Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Digimerc: Another thing that I can't get to work on iSwifter is drag and drop. It's impossible to get things out of my cupboard or sell things at venders. Not to mention transferring things from one bag to another.
Posted 11 months ago by Draeli Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Hey all, I'm learning as I go also.  @Wynella, yes the split keyboard is a good idea. I have got to talk with the developers about moving the new D-pad up a bit on the left side as the split keyboard covers the down arrow right now if they are both displayed. --- @Draeli, to select items and move them - tap them once to 'select', then place two fingers down over it and drag it to where you want to place it and let it drop there by raising fingers up (once it is in motion, you can actually just keep it in motion with one finger on it if you prefer that).

  • hehe someone already has posted my YouTube vid of playing it on the iPad. That's about the only way...to use Splashtop.

  • Thanks Digimerc. I had no idea I could do that. It took a little practice, but I am now dragging and dropping on the iPad! Woo Hoo!
Posted 11 months ago by Draeli Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Okay, I'm an iPad idiot. I'm wondering if someone would be willing to walk me through the baby steps of how to get Glitch up and running on my iPad. What I already know how to do is open Safari and search for things on the internet. I've downloaded a couple games, too, so I know how to do that. Otherwise, though, I'm clueless.

Or if that's inappropriate to ask here, maybe someone could direct me to some sort of "Glitch on the iPad for Dummies" site? IMing me in game is cool, too.

I'm particularly interested in doing the iSwifter thing because I think it's neat that it comes with our own personal Glitchy go-to guy.

    Thanks!
Posted 11 months ago by Sirentist Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Well, I'm definitely no expert, but I can get you started, Sirentist. iSwifter is an app that you download onto your iPad, When you want to play glitch, you click on the iSwifter app, which acts as a new browser. You type in glitch.com, and away you go. It is a free app, sort of, but you have to pay, I think it was $4.99, to have unlimited use. Otherwise you have a time limit each day.
Posted 11 months ago by Draeli Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Just an update tweet here in case anyone wants to try the iSwifter iPad experience free without encountering a timed out trial period:  @theroverapp is the FREE app of the day! Thanks to @techinspecialed - http://t.co/oCl041ZT

  • Oh, and QuinnR, eyeballery is C and arrow keys, so that should be good to go also. I've got to grow Meditative arts yet (ommmm), so I haven't personally tried it. I'll meditate tonight and try my eyeball arts tomorrow.

  • @Cathriara - We have a new iPad version of Rover just released and we need user feedback on it. You can download it from the iTunes App Store on your iPad and try Glitch on it. We have incorporated the D-Pad controls up,down, left, right and the spacebar jump.
I've had no trouble using Glitch from iPad with these new controls, but I'd appreciate more testers.
Posted 11 months ago by Digimerc Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Thanks for info Digimerc.. was looking for a new app for iPad - not happy with Puffer, wasn't impressed with iSwifter.  Will give Rover a try.  Also read a bit about SkyeFire or something like that..

  • Woohoo! Just played Glitch on my iPad2! Using Rover....fully functional, works great! Obviously, better on a computer, but you can play it with no problems. Free..in the app store.

  • I know glitch does not work on my nook tablet. It gets so close to starting then it just gives up. That made me sad.
Posted 11 months ago by Gwyn Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Have tested Glitch on iSwifter and Rover thus far, Rover is better. However, I can't seem to get the d-pad nor the keyboard to open up. Am I missing something elementary?
Posted 11 months ago by Abby Cadabra Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @Miss Buckets...did the same to me.  I rebooted my ipad...and then it showed up.

@Gwyn.... yep...wanted it to work there, before i got the ipad,  so close...just wouldnt go that extra.  IF they would hurry up and update the flash...it might work...but would probably still have the same problem of jumping and climbing.  The keyboard would be too big to play the game.

  • I was so bummed when it didn't work. I managed to see myself once before it crashed. I was all yaaayy .... awww. At the least I only wanted to be able to care for my pigs when I'm MIA and not have to bully my friends into doing it.
