Butterfly Questions...

Have had a collection of about 6 butterflies in my home for about 2 weeks and today they are all gone suddenly.  I guess I didn't realize that they had a time limit... Whats with animals just vanishing?  Is there a time limit to butterflies, pigs, and chickens?  Just looking for some answers, probably already covered this some time ago, but I think I missed it.

  • It's not a time limit.  I've had the same butterfly in my back yard since the housing reset.

But any time you massage them or milk them (including using milk collectors) it shortens their life a bit.  Singing to them will lengthen it a bit.

Piggies die if they aren't fed and petted.

    Chickens seem indestructible.

  • Chickens have been known to sometimes *poof*

I know I once poofed one while squeezing, I think over squeezing by lots of people in a short ammount of time kills chickens.

  • Ok thanks.  I assumed you had to pet piggies to keep them happy, but never thought singing to butterflies did anything...

  • Massaging kills butterflies? I was thinking it actually helps them. :/

  • As far as I know, it seems that massaging has no effect on the lifetime of butterflies... but I may be wrong.

  • This explains butterfly life cycles pretty well: mathemaglitch.blogspot.ca/2...

  • Mine usually last about 2 weeks--I use a milker but don't collect from it more than twice in a RL day.  I accidentally sang to a butterfly once & it lasted about 8 hours longer than the rest of them, FWIW.

  • I had 4 butterflies and a few milkers.
For the experiment, there was one left alone, then one that got massages, one that got songs, one that got both (I didn't milk them).
The "song" ones lived significantly longer than the two others, but the massaged ones not (same life duration).

  • They don't die.

They vanish to A Higher Plane.

A Higher Plane is a retirement community for winged critters :D

  • The great butterfly flue epidemic.  So sad.  Mine all croaked.  Good thing they are easy to remake.

  • The link to my blog gives a lot of economic analysis of raising butterflies, but as for them vanishing the main thing to know is that they have 400 milkings in them.  After 400 milkings they head off to seem Humbaba.  Singing adds about 3 extra milkings per song.

  • Humbabella, is the rumour true that how high they fly is a hint to their current health level?
