A way to close and open the minimap

I find that the mini-map frequently covers up street signs when I'm trying to use them. It would be really useful to be able to open and close that little window when necessary. :)

  • You can. You just hit the little arrow at the bottom of the map and it windowshades.

  • *when* there is an arrow on the bottom, for me, it just expands the mini-map. I have not found a way to close it, and had a staff member tell me in help that indeed it was not possible to close the mini-map.

  • Where were you?! I've never had an issue with the mini-map not closing. It covers the signs when I'm on my netbook though and that's annoying.

  • @Jarhaven
    Closing ≠ Contracting

I'm not for being able to close it because too much buttons can quickly clutter/bloat a clean and polished UI (then it would need another button to make it appear)

I'd rather want the minimap to temporarily become partially translucent when your character is around that top right area, or/and under the same condition to switch background/foreground between the minimap and characters/bubbles.

  • Wouldn't have to be a button. Could just be a keyboard shortcut. I've played plenty of games where that was the case.

  • Glitz, in no post of mine or Sunshine's was 'contracing' even used.

    Anyway...

Sunshine, I think I know what you're referencing with the bigger mini-maps. Often they lead to a street that only has one sign. Using my laptop, I don't remember one ever covering the signposts, but I tend to just click on the signpost in the mini-map so it jumps me automatically.

  • Indeed, that's exactly what I'm saying. When say you can close it might actually be contracting it. Then this is not possible to close the minimap. Just attempting to clear up the confusion.
