A few questions about recent updates.

Why can we donate baby animals (and seasoned eggs apparently??) but not hog-tied pigs~?  It seems supremely cruel to the animals.  :_:

Does "Visitors can't come a-knocking when you aren't at home" mean that people with keys can't go to your home if you're not online, or people can't find out you're offline or people can't knock when you're not home or or ...?  I am totally confused about this.

Beans can no longer be planted in un-earthed patches ~ ? What?  I don't understand, no beans were able to be planted in dug holes before.  Or is this something different??

Gnomes can be moved - but how?  How do I do this?

Ok I think that's all my questions, sorry if they're dumb and if it's obvious but my brain is just not working >_<

  • And what reward items are held by the Rock?

  • Visitors cant visit when you are not online.  Whether you are home or not, it doesn't matter, u can still let them in when they knock.  People with keys however, can go into your home whether you are online or not.

Patches that are dug, cant be planted.  You have to wait for the patch to "recover".  Hang around a few minutes... if u can tend it, seasoned beans can be planted.

Gnomes can only be moved by the person putting it there apparently.

Visitors have never been able to visit when you are not online.  What you are describing is not a change.  The question is "what was changed?", since TS staff announced a change.

Patches have always worked the way you describe.  What has changed, since TS staff announced one?

Gnomes have always been able to be moved by the person putting  them there.  What has changed?

    My best guesses are:
    a) if you are inside your house, people can knock and be let in.  If you aren't there, they can't knock and you can't let them in.  (probably a fix for some griefing where people would knock, and the permission button would be obscured and then accidentally clicked.  People complained about letting people into their homes when they didn't mean to)

    b) Perhaps there was a bug that DID let you plant a bean even if there was a hole?

    c) If you have a gnome outside, it may auto orient itself depending on what side of the door you place it?  So it doesn't face away from the door?  I don't use them, so I'm just guessing.

  • It seems like the change is that can only knock when the owner is inside the house. (At least I have seen a message saying the owner is not at home, earlier you could knock as long as he was online.)

The earthy patch thing is listed as a bug fix so it probably worked slightly wrong in some cases.

For comes it says you can now turn them to face another direction - which is different from moving.

  • Gnomes now have a new option on their menu, "Flip." It makes them face the opposite direction when at rest.

  • I too, am very curious about the reward items held by the rock...what reward items? The only reward the rock has ever given me was Currants, XP, Favor or Energy...

  • i might be remembering wrong but doesn't the magic rock give you your elemental pouch, and your first firefly jar... ??
Posted 13 months ago by PANsy Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I bought my own elemental pouch and firefly jars, so if the rock was supposed to give one of each of those to me, I wasted some currants buying them myself. :)

@Miso: I think the change to donation policy (no hogtied pig donations) was to prevent players from swiping community / public area pigs for donation rather than seasoning an egg and raising them themselves.

  • The Rock also gives you the Faded Heart at the end of the ghost quest, I think. I'm guessing this bug keeps it from being "lost" if you have no room in your bag when you finish?

I figured it was *also* to prevent stolen pigs from being donated but.... I don't know, it just seems a little contradictory.  I mean would there be less overall demand for baby animals if you couldn't donate them?  How many people are doing this?  This strikes me as really mean.  -_-

  • I often sacrifice young chickens to the Giants, and every time I do, I make a squealing baby chick sound as the shrine swallows them whole.  Mwahahahahaaaaaa!

  • Re elemental pouches, I remember having to buy the pouch yourself -- but the Rock gives you your first elements to play with.

  • @Miso George - before the ban on hog tied piggies, there was a run on piggies all across UR. No pig was safe. And there just weren't enough people raising piglets to even begin to compensate. So no mean-ness was intended.

You can donate piglets, which maintains the demand for baby animals. Hog tied pigs just interrupts the logic chain since your source could be wild pigs (this indeed reducing demand for baby animals)

  • I bought my own pouch.  My first Firefly Jar was obtained through the Lab quest where you learn to whistle.  The Faded Heart is given when you find Ghost #7.  I recall it being given by the Ghost.  The Dust Bunny gave the Emo Bear.  The Rock gives you Quests and, in most cases, I believe, it gives the rewards for those Quests.

  • There was a bug where you were able to plant a bean in an unearthed patch by clicking the bean and plant from it's menu, guess that was fixes now.
Posted 13 months ago by WeavingTheWeb Subscriber! | Permalink
  • As others have noted, you get an Emo Bear when you complete the De-Embiggenify quest and a firefly jar when you acquire the firefly whistle. I found a faded heart before I completed the ghost quest, but I think that was a bug. I believe the change announced applies to all these items when there is not room in your inventory at the time you would ordinarily receive the item. You need to buy an elemental pouch yourself for the Get Elemental quest.

@Miso George - We do not know what the giants do with the items we donate, but I believe the baby animals we donate to them are treated with loving care, and perhaps some are released to certain streets in Ur once they are grown.

  • When you get the Element Handling skill, the Rock's first quest is for you to buy an Elemental Pouch. When you have that, he gives you some elements.
Posted 13 months ago by shhexy corin Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Planting in an dug up patch was possible before. You just had to click the bean in your inventory instead of clicking the hole. I used to use it all the time. Didn't even realize it was a bug.

It will make fixing craters a lot harder now.
