Home street visitor messages

Sorry if this was covered elsewhere and I couldn't find it! Maybe I'm wrong about how this
stuff works, but this was my experience:

Last week I was busy with life (work + wedding planning) and didn't login for a few days. A very nice person visited my street and left a note saying they had fed my piggies because their feeders were empty (I'm a bad Glitch piggy owner! I forgot about the piggies for days!). I received this note from my butler, since that is how the sender sent it. I wasn't expressly noting who the sender was since I assumed I would be able to verify it in my inbox later. But when I looked in my inbox, it wasn't there. It was gone! And trying to determine the sender from a long list of street visitors wasn't viable, nor did their message pop up in a spot like local chat for later reference. I really wanted to thank this person and feel like a jerk that I had no way to do so.

So, tl,dr: messages left with my butler should go to my mailbox, considering the butler functions as my mailbox. Messages left with my butler should not disappear after I click out of the message prompts.

Also, thank you Nice Person Who Fed My Piggies! I hope to one day return the favor.

  • I had the same problem.  Someone left a bag of goodies and I glanced at the message they left with it - but had to leave the computer.  I ended up doing other stuff and when I went back I had forgotten about the note until several minutes into play. Then I had no way to reread the message and didn't know who to thank for the gift.

So THANK YOU kind glitchen who left me a lil' bag o' stuff!  It was lovely and appreciated!

  • You can scroll up in "Local Chat/Activity Log" to see what the butler said if you missed it.

(Also, I couldn't tell if you literally meant they left a "note" item, or just a message with your butler — if they left a note then you can check the note to see who the author was.)

  • There is this weird thing made of paper called a "notebook".  It is not on your computer or in this game.  You could use a WP or even e-mail.  What you do if you have one of these "notebooks" is, you make lists.  Write down who left what with your Butler.  The Butler is useless as a note keeper because he forgets as soon as he tells you something.  Write It Down!  You can scroll back in Local if you remember right away.  If you remember tomorrow or two weeks from now then it probably has disappeared from Local and you are out of luck  :(

BTW, I have 3 "notebooks" so far with many lists.  Can't find a thing!

  • The "note" was a message left with my butler. The person went to my butler and chose "leave a message". Sorry for the confusion.

I *did* look in local chat after the message was gone, and it was not there. At all. It made sense that it would be, but it was not. ETA: It is always possible I missed it, but I made a serious effort to look through the entire local chat. Since I had just entered the game, there wasn't much activity there, so I really doubt I missed anything.

As for physically noting things in the game, that's not a horrible idea but it kind of goes against my way of playing (the game is secondary to my real life). Having notebooks sitting next to my laptop expressly for keeping track of my Glitch butler's messages is kind of over the top for me, especially since it makes sense that a message left with my butler should go to my mailbox, since my butler IS my mailbox (on my street, anyway).
