What Are Some Good Ideas To Help Me Level Up?

I'm level 22. Feeling like everything revolves around "higher levels" who think they're so important...not saying you are all like that. But when I see stuff like "House Party Level 60 only!!!" it's just incredibly de-motivational! I feel left out and excluded and I kind of just want to quit playing Glitch.>.> Or I could just shut my mouth and deal with it. Or maybe I have it wrong?
But these forums are for stuff like this, right?

P.S. No rude comments, ridicule, showing-off, trying to say it like you got it and you're better than me...

I just want some HUMBLE, FRIENDLY,  AND SUPPORTIVE advice. Or is that too much to ask?
                                                           ~Sincerely,

  • I haven't ever seen a lvl 60 only event, nor would I be invited as I've been playing for a year now and am only level 40. That sort of exclusivity is NOT what Glitch is about.

Go at your own pace. Glitch is about the journey, not the destination. If you want to throw a party, get a party pack from a toy vendor and start inviting people from global chat. It's not as if you need to be level 60 to raid like other MMOs. This is primarily a sandbox game. You are in the really fun part of the game with lots of quests, new skills, badges to earn, and things to discover all the time. You will level naturally from doing stuff. Quoin-hopping in the regions like Kloro, Roobric, or Jal with high-value quoins, donating to shrines, reflecting on icons, and crafting whatever you like to make are all good ways to earn iMG and level up but please don't feel like there is any hurry.  Spend your time doing whatever seems fun. :-)

  • "Level 60" just means more iMG than you can possibly use.

Grow yellow, donate it. Visit crabs daily, and find a nice quiet set of icons you can ruminate. If you enjoy it, upping you quion multiplier and chasing quions for nice chunk of iMG.

    But mainly, have fun!

  • I get how you feel. Seems like everyone's reaching level 60. But, think to yourself, what's the rush? Just have fun with the game. If you really want to level up, there are lots of supergrindy but fast ways. For example, you can season beans and use ehsp to donate it. I haven't really used any methods though.

  • 1. Pet and nibble pigs.
    2. Quoins
    3. Donate to giants (and use extremely hallowed shrine powder)
    4. Reflect on icons
    5. Upgrade location cards (what are these called?) (like Starlit Night?)

  • Don't rush your level.  Collect badges, Quest, Meet New Friends, Build your House, your Tower, trade in Auctions and Glitchremote, save your IMG and your Money.  When you have so much of all that and you are board, grow yellow and donate using the extremely hollow shrine powder to level up.

  • I'm nowhere near level 60, but my advice is just to do stuff and do the stuff you like to do more often. My recent leveling has been greatly helped by donating to shrines. I didn't realize how important that was until now. I've been donating beams with EHSP and all the tedious work pays off quite well. Also, the more things you do, the more items you have to donate. Add quoin collecting and you have a healthy dose of iMG coming in daily.

Additionally, I find the upgrade cards to be motivating in terms of gathering iMG. Without that, I would feel a bit lost and not know what to do with this game.

*hugs* Just take your time and find your rhythm.

  • All the kerfuffle about being a level 60 is a leftover mindset from the previous system of XP. Achieving higher levels in that system was a worthwhile pursuit, bringing definite tangible rewards. It was the only way to increase your energy tank (it happened automatically) and reaching level 60 meant never worrying about having a good mood, which was quite the relief!

Since the switchover from the old system to the new, there isn't any real benefit to being any level higher than about 30 at the most. The only thing higher levels achieves is give you more ways to gain something you already have too much of.

It seems like the game still encourages people to pursue it as a goal, what with the glaring reminder of your progress toward the next level (in the menu under your face), and the cheering kazoo band when it happens. Those make it seem like reaching a higher level is a desirable and worthwhile pursuit. It actually isn't. It's probably better to ignore it.

I've never seen that. I've seen invites to parties to celebrate someone reaching 60

There is no benefit that I can see in Glitch to levelling beyond some skills becoming available at low levels and not being able to build a tower until level 18.

If anything being level 60 is demotivational.

  • Really? Level 60 only? How tacky. I've seen people advertising level 60 parties, but I thought they were for celebrating that the host had reached level 60.

  • I've been playing for one and a half yrs..and im only level 49..Leveling fast has never been my "thing"..Playing... having fun ..meeting people, chatting with friends is more my thing. In all my time here I have never seen any level 60 only...party invites go out...I have seen...Lets party to celebrate so-n-so reaching level 60. I still get excited when a badge pops outa no where, because I don't go out of my way to earn them..I prefer them to surprise me. I have built my tower..I really loved doing that...I do gardening because I enjoy it. I don't use it to level I use it to make potions to do more gardening with lol. We are all different, and we play/expect different things from Glitch...

To level fast..grinding rock...growing...petting ...squeezing...everything and anything that moves...and donating using ehsp ...Basically...working your butt off..as hard or as fast as you want to level. ..But most importantly..Have Fun .. And good luck!!

  • As most people have said here, being 60 isn't much different from being 40. Except you have TON of iMG with nothing to spend it on. If you see there is a party for 60's only, just say pffft. You can, if you try hard, (and I mean intensive playing) get to 60 in a matter of a month or so (probably less), so not all of the level 60's in this game are long time players.

Take it easy and do the things you like.

Otherwise, if you are in a hurry,

Make fruit tree beans and donate with EHSP - iMG for making AND donating
Visit the crabs every game day,
Get as many Quoin multipliers as you can,
Go to the Quoin hopping regions every game day and get all your daily Quions (try to remember where all the really high quoins are)
Use avarice potion to boost the amount  of daily quoins you can collect
Do your allotted 11 game cards every game day (preferably Radial Heights, as if you get them all in order you get bonus Qurazy quoins)
Do the reminisce quests as often as you can
    etc etc

As I said, you can get to 60 fairly easy if you really go at it, but, you know, you don't have to.

  • I'm confused.

You crticize Level 60s for thinking they're so important and yet, you want to level up quickly. Why? So you can be like them? If you feel left out, create your own parties and exclude the Level 60s. Easy.

For the record, I'm a level 60. I've never seen Level 60s Only parties but I admit I don't get out much. Even if I did, I wouldn't attend them. What can level 60s do at a party that other Glitches can't? Seems silly.

I also want to add that I don't understand why you feel "everything" revolves around the higher levels. Being a level 60, I struggled with two feats in particular: grabbing the QQs (after visiting 60-some streets, I managed to grab a whopping seven QQs) and the quest-completion feat. I have no quests to complete. I got nuthin'. Lower levels faired much better.

My advice is to relax. Have fun. The levels will take care of themselves.

  • I play a lot and have never ever seen a level 60 only party. Yes people have "zomg i made it to 60 let's celebrate!" parties, but never anything excluding anyone at a lower level!

  • I think some of what you can see about "higher levels" is people complaining that once you reach a higher level there is less to do. It is my perception that the game revolves around LOWER levels, which it should, because if it wasn't fun for a low-level player nobody would ever reach higher levels.
That said, I think the best ways to level are to find other goals and work on those, because they tend to generate xp. For instance: donate to speed up your skills to learning as fast as you can (you also get xp from donating) complete all the quests which usually have xp rewards, find some badges to work on, make an arbitrary goal for yourself of gathering or making a certain number of something, or expanding your house or building up a tower.

  • There are a few skills with level requirements, and you can only build towers at level eighteen I believe, but aside from that there's not a great deal of need to level up. Collecting imagination is useful for upgrades and filling out your street and garden, and your level is just a rough indicator to how much of it you've had. Perhaps rather than focussing on reaching the next level, work out what upgrades you might want and save for those. You'll level up as you do those anyway, but the rewards are usually closer together.

  • I asked Stoot elsewhere why they didn't just eliminate levels when they did the XP to iMG changeover, and he said they 'chickened out'.   It was being considered though.  There are a number of concepts in the game that are there just because it's how other games do things - don't all games have levels?  As I see it, Glitch has the golden opportunity to explore the edges of itself and transcend some of those things.  I still hope they just eliminate levels completely.

  • Wait, if they chickened out does that mean we can squeeze devs and get grain....

    Oh rry....

  • "eliminate levels completely"

...or... don't eliminate levels, but allow players to ascend "beyond level" maybe?  i.e. you progress through levels 1-60 as normal, then at some point after reaching level 60 you get a special quest.  In the quest you learn from the Squid that Levels are really an invention of the Bureaucrocs, designed to keep us enslaved to the iMG/currant system.  When you emerge from the quest, you no longer have a level - your profile would say "No Level" or "Undefined" or something to that effect.  The ultimate goal of leveling, in this case, would be to not have any level at all!  Which certainly fits with the absurdity of this game :)

  • As other players have suggested above, yes, you have it wrong.  You are misreading turning-60 celebration parties with parties for level 60 guests only.  A glance through the announcements forum shows a "level 60 house party" in September that is very clearly described as someone planning to level to 60 in his/her house; literally every single party I see that mentions 60 in the title is a leveling celebration.

I wouldn't rush to level up if I were you.  If leveling is what makes it fun for you, then do that of course, but there really are no game advantages to being at a higher level.

  • Leveling still determines how much iMG you get from icons and your shrine limits. They would need to introduce a new mechanic for those.

  • I've been playing for 18 months and I had to go look what level I am!
So I'm only level 32 and play pretty much every day, but I do my own thing and don't care about levelling.
As others have said, I'm pretty sure you got things mixed up... a level 60 party means a celebration open to all, not 60 only :)

  • This forum was inspired by me noticing an Announcement that literally said "Level 60 only party", I'm not exactly quoting it right but it's the same message. I wasn't meaning to condescend level 60 glitches, please do not misinterpret that. I was just saying...I felt left out. I may or may not have gotten the wrong idea about high level avatars, but like most RP games I've played, I've seen the status of being a high level go to a few individuals' heads because they may or may not have such a high status in their real life social status...I find this connection very interesting. Again, I don't mean to start a riot, please don't antagonize me. (I take a course in Psychology, I can't help but notice these things.) It is completely possible, however, that I misinterpreted it, but what I read was pretty straight-forward.

THANK YOU for all of this support, each of you really helped by contributing, I do have a better perspective, and I do see the point of just having fun. I read all of your responses and I will continue to read them, they are all very mature and helpful. Thank you so very much.
