Is there a reason favor doesn't roll over the emblem point?

I can't seem to find an answer to this but the mechanic of donating to shrines has been bothering me for a while and I know I'm not alone.

If I can donate, say, 3000 worth to a given Giant in a day and at one time but am only 1000 away from getting an emblem, I have to donate in two batches or the leftover 2K doesn't register. I get the iMG from it but am left with 0 favor.

It's not game breaking and I can juggle the math and the extra EHSP but it is puzzling to me.

  • The favor is lost, but you get the iMG anyway (just in case you didn't notice), but I do agree that it's strange that excess favor gets truncated.

  • It's to force you to go visit the shrines once in a while. Of course, you don't HAVE to (I often forget about mine, to be honest :).

  • Yes I have noticed you get the iMG (I mentioned that in my post, lol).

The fact that you "lose" favor unless you get out a calculator (huh, there's probably a browser addon) isn't too huge a deal unless you're farming for icons.

Personally, I wanted two full sets (which I have now) which is why I became annoyed with the emblem/favor mechanic but honestly now it won't make much of a difference to me because I never spent emblems to lower my learning time and can't see what else they're good for (selling I suppose?)

  • I suspect that it's all a ploy by TS to improve our math skills.

  • I think it is a check on progress to keep donating from getting over emphasized.

PS Check out FavorSaver by agent86 - I'll post a link in the morning, or try searching for it.

  • If we could donate and not have a cap it would give an unfair advantage to ppl who could donate a lot more than others.....not sure if that's exactly what you were asking, but also i'm guessing the trade off is that emblems aren't worth as much time off but they can be made into Icons, which in the long run icons give more favor(and are worth quite a bit in currants too)...so a trade off on the amount maybe?

  • I suspect it happens so that one cannot simply walk up to a shrine, dump in their max amount for the day and get X number of emblems in one go. I'm not sure why this would be bad but I do believe that it is part of the reasoning (course, I only believe that cause my brain created the idea that it might be true).
