Question on /Homes and Tree life

So, my egg tree in my backyard is down to zero life.
Can't water, can't pet.
CAN harvest.
Strangely.
But it won't die.

Seems to me trees @ zero life should die without poison.
No?

Anyone have any intel on this?

  • The do die, after a number of harvestings without being petted or watered.  Not sure if it is just equal to the number of fruit/beans etc currently on the tree, but that seems likely to me.

  • Same thing happened to the spice tree on my temp street, it was on 0% in cultivate mode, couldn't be petted or watered but was still harvestable.  I was told that it's a bug.  I also wasn't able to replant after - there's not enough space in my yard for a tree plot (even though there was enough room for one before, also a bug), you should probably make a report!

  • What need to be restored is the patch. But it cannot be restored until all the "fruits" of the tree have been harvested. When all the fruits are harvested, your tree will die. You will be able to chop it, then you will be able to restore your patch and be ready to plant another tree.

  • I think I would like it if we had the option to restore patches when they are at 0% health but the tree is still alive, if the project is completed before the tree's fruits are all harvested.  I can fertilize the soil around a tree without removing it and replacing it.

Otherwise replenishing the resource includes the cost of the tree's bean as well as what goes into the project.  The other resources, like the fireflies, don't require you to "re-seed" them after the project is complete.  We don't yet know the final price for these rejuvenation projects so it's possible that will be taken into account, but it also puts a limitation on newer glitchen who don't know bean seasoning and all its mysteries.

  • Agreed with Scarlett :) While it's true this is a test phase, I'd like to put my vote forward for being offered projects to rejuvenate the tree itself, and not the patch :P It's rather cumbersome to replace the tree each time the patch wears out.

  • Weird.
    +1 for Scarlett's idea!

  • I agree with Scarlett also.

  • While it would be easier, I think it's healthier to have to make or buy a new bean every time. Guano's more tedious to get imo :(

  • We're testing so maybe the trees need to die prematurely, sure hope the life of the tree is much longer when we are playing for real.

  • Fertilidust helps to restore the fruit on the trees, but doesn't increase the health or allow you to pet/water anymore.

  • Fertilidust is for trees not patches.

    +1 for Scarlett's idea.

Not that I'm against people buying/making beans just that it is annoying since it is the patch not the tree that is used up.

+1 for Teena. Patch life span seems to be awfully short.

  • I kinda like the limited lifespan; I like that I can cycle through different trees at a constant rate without poisoning so I can get different tree resources. Once my gas tree dies, I'm going to plant maybe an eggplant tree, and when it dies I'll plant a different tree and so on. I don't feel like I'll be lacking in resources because of it.
