To be honest, they may be large and functional but I think they look awful and totally out of place.. give me a thatched cottage anytime, or my dark dwelling in Jethimadh
..and a cast-iron wood-burning stove, French dresser, rambling roses climbing round the doorway, a garden pond (a new setting for the gnomes.. maybe a new fishing gnome?), leafy bowers, gentle fountains, , I could go on....
I went on holiday to a lovely small Devon (Delving in Ur-speak) resort last year and stuck in the middle of the seafront are was a property-speculators dream, a nightmare to me, which looked just like the new homes in Alakol. But I'm just a sad old traditionalist. I hope the rush to buy the new homes reduces the prices of the other property in Ur.
The beach houses I love are the old, classic ones too. I especially love cottages that make you wonder if they are holding up the honeysuckle vines that cover them or the other way around.
I don't have that much currants so I have no worries. By the time I get that much housing of any kind in Alakol will be gone. Looks like within an hour after the opening those houses will be gone and there will be nothing left but the dark swamp houses - LOL!
Tiny Speck is actually very, very good about making sure enough houses of every type are around... but things do get skinny before a new batch is released. Rest assured, when the Alakol houses are released there will be many, many more than 7. People are constantly moving, and new streets/housing are being created all the time.
Not sure if I could bear to buy one and then lose it in the re-set! I have wanted to live in Alakol from the time it opened and those houses are perfect.
I hope you all want cottages. That way I can grab me a beach house ;)
I actually bought one earlier, before the devs took them out. According to Stoot, they'll be released 'soon.' Oh, please, oh please, please, pretty please :)
Like Cupcake I bought in Alakol, sold my old house expecting to lose all my stuff, I re-bought it so hopefully didnt lose anything. But I really want an Alakol house!
I'm the same as Joo. Only need to try out a tree house and an Alakol house, and I'd thought I'd start with 'A' for Alakol before moving back to 'G' for Groddle ;-). Here's hoping I can grab one on time!
I was sorry to see that those of you who bought one of these seemed to have lost it immediately. I hope that you will be able to grab them back today so I can come visit. I want to see if the pens work. I'd pay that much for an empty lot with a pig pen - LOL!
I'm not big on the LOOK of the homes...what I want is the huge garden, four patches, huge home...I'm going to try to get one but as I'll be at work and need to pack up my belongings in my first house, I doubt I'll make it...fingers crossed:)
Since starting testing Glitch, I've moved 3 different times (2 since the last reset). I've been brainstorming about helping other glitchlings move their houses. I think I'd like to give it a try, this testing session --- it definitely looks like there will be a need for this service!
So, Rascalmom , if you need help moving, shoot me an IM.
g33kgurrl, something that I take comfort in is knowing that this is just a test, and that right now a lot of the "materialistic" stuff we acquire in the game will be reset, meaning that we'll all be on par with each other at some point and, having learned everything we've learned in Beta, we'll be able to breeze through certain aspects of the game and most of us will be able to get our hands on the homes we hope for. Not only that, but I'm certain the devs will be adding more than enough "upscale" homes to go around as the game develops further. So although you and I may not have the resources right now, I have no doubt that in due time we'll be more than content with what we end up with. :D
If you look at Locations, there's not even a street for housing listed for Alakol... but scroll down a bit to Bortolo and there are housing blocks listed.
I was wondering the same thing, Pirate Apples. Even though there are model homes in Alakol, no housing streets have appeared yet. At least Bortola has some listed. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. It certainly gives encouragement to work on street projects. There aren't that many more streets to be finished in Alakol, so the connector to Bortola (whatever street that happens to be) should be done soon!
LOL gonna be party central in Alakol when the houses do open (hey look! a party reason that's not End Of The World). I *do* want one (or a Groddle Apartment - will happily trade after a day or two of living in Alakol) and really hope it happens soooooooon. The whole reason I was able to (temporarily) buy the first one was I've been planning on it, wandering around for the better part of 2 tests with only what I can carry on me.... not an easy task for an old fart.
LOL Trav.... I packed everything up this last test... made sure I had plenty of currants... Still can't tell though. Do these houses have elevators or what?
Yup, elevators it appears.... bet they work a lot like the doors on Runa Ascention or in the Tower Base in that you select them and *poof* are moved to the next point. The large appears to have 2 sets of doors (personally I like the look of an open staircase coming through the floor, but hey! Who knows?) and the medium only one set.
I really did love my Jethimadh house, but I sold it when I got a batch of gardening/soil quests that required you to do things in your own yard... Jeth doesn't even have a dark patch so it forced a move. Love my fireflies, but the Rock made me do it!
@Lord Bacon-o
Probably not a good idea in the middle of hurricane season. :D
@Cerulean - True enough. I don't regret helping on the builds to my own disadvantage at times. It's worth every minute I spend getting to know folks and making my way through the game.
I immediately sold my MM home to buy one in Alakol (that view!), but then they poofed, so I bought my familiar home back again! Hope all my stuffies are still in there! (Kevin kindly refunded my currants that I lost, btw.)
Sheesh! Things come and go so quickly around here! ; )
