Teal White Triangle Key..What? What!?!

So has anyone been watching the manipulation of the Teal-White Triangle Key auctions? Just a week ago keys were averaging for 1750c and I saw it go all the way down to 800c earlier this evening. Now it's hovering at 1000c

Methinks someone was hording keys!

  • maybe other adventures in the game have killed some of the demand

  • Lol.  I think the price of keys will go down, since Glitch Trains no longer give an advantage in mining.

I find it more relaxing to solo mine these days.

  • i believe somebody was hoarding keys to drive the price down.

i wish i'd have known about it, since i have a dozen i'd have gladly joined in with the effort.

  • I have several of these keys, but I keep them all for personal use.  I also sometimes offer to take people in with me if there are several people standing around one of the doors.  So in contrast to the people that are camping them to sell, I have camped them a few times when I happened to be in the area, but just for personal use.

  • i never camp keys for profit! i only keep a collection for purposes of giving free or for driving down the prices that have been charged at auction.

it's a nonprofit service. i don't even like to go into those rooms, but having a dozen or so keys can be handy.

either way, one needn't make a distinction between keeping them for personal use or for whatever reason. it matters little.

and hooray for that guy who drove those prices down! next time you do it, let me know. if we can collapse the price permanently, it will be a fine day in Ur.

  • Pming, what do you mean glitch trains no longer give an advantage?  I haven't been group-mining lately, did something change?

  • Glitch Train moving breaks mediation, radiate.  I don't know about other actions, but mediate, radiate were the most important actions for me during glitch-train mining.

  • umm...if someone was hoarding in order to drive the price down...why are you complaining?

If you are interested in buying them, then you shouldn't be complaining.

If you are interested in selling them, buy them at the lower price, wait until the "jerk" runs out of stock (which will happen quickly, since, hey!, they're half price), then auction them at the higher price again.

Oh, I get it! You must be one of those people that camps them and sells them at a higher price and you're upset that this guy is lowering your profits! I don't feel especially sorry for you.

  • Whym, I've noticed a number of accusations of malice in this game turning out to be false. Often it's turned out to be simple human error, a communication error,  or some non-malicious motivation the accuser didn't take into account. Maybe you could try giving more of the benefit of the doubt until actual evidence surfaces?

  • That was meant to be more sarcastic than accusatory. Sorry for the confusion. :)

  • nothing wrong with some key hoarding

must have MOAR of everything in this game

  • That must be me :) I bought all keys under 1650c and am selling for 1000c. I think the teal-white pricing was way too high. But now I'm out of Currants so I guess this is the end of the campaign :)

  • Alright! I did find the sarcasm easy to confuse, but I often find it easy to miss some of those cues (though some're more obvious to me than others).

  • The place is empty due to street projects, but as soon as that's done, the demand will skyrocket once again.

  • @Whym, if your comment (sarcastic or otherwise) was toward me as the OP, I am not complaining about it.  I enjoy seeing how the key auctions fluctuate, especially when someone puts a key like the green/white circle key (which has very few uses and is pretty easy to get), up for an outrageous price of 1000c and it will set off a rash of purchases and others selling for a high amount.  This happens with all of the keys.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a key camper and have quite a few teal/white triangle keys.  But, because I camp when I am organizing bags or doing other sedentary things, any money I make on a key is profit.  Of course, I'd like to make more (who wouldn't), but key auctions have never been how I make my currants.

@niks - just wondering, why do you think that the pricing is too high?  When I used to purchase keys and mined in AB or NN, I would make six to eight times as much as I purchased the key for. If someone can get such a great return on an investment, why shouldn't it be sold for a premium?

  • Hi Green,
No idea. Just trying some new things :) Not everything I do is rational, especially in games.
I liked the idea of trying to lower the prices, but I guess I'm going to fail now all campers read this and will simply wait for me to have sold them all before they start offering theirs for higher amounts again :)

  • TWT keys are high in demand because they are an excellent resource for income (mining or vending).
And, unless I spawn the key myself...it's not mine until it's in my bag!
    "How to secure a key?"
    1. Find it, grab it...it's in my bag! (No discrepancy here.)
    ...or
    2. Buy it...it's in my bag! (supply and demand set the price)
    3. A gift from someone! Wow...it's in my bag! (or following)
    4. Calling 'dibs' on the next spawn, pa-leeze...it's NOT in my bag!
    It's all about choices.

  • @niks - I can totally appreciate that. What makes the game great is that you do have the chance to try new things, and see how the world reacts.

Now, I just have to hope the prices go back up before YOU get more currants ;)

  • part of the drop is the key changer potions, if you don't even need the right key, why buy it?
