I'm not sure what the other glitch was talking about :P You can't be too new if you know 95 skills.
-
Lol ;) I kinda felt that way too, Liza.
-
Forget UR. Everything you might need is available on resource routes.
-
How dare you tell the Gas fans how to play the game.
-
I don't engage in debate with anyone over it. If someone plants a tree, and I want a different tree, I'll poison it and plant another. I make seasoned beans for the iMG, so I have a nearly infinite supply. It's really not a matter of what kind of tree *should* be there, so I don't see the sense in talking about it. I just take action.
But sorry that someone tried to tell you how to have fun. Ignore 'em and have fun anyway!
(Oh... but for some folks the Spice/Gas "War" IS fun! To each his/her own.)
-
Lol, Dr. Maud - I know, I know. And that's what I'm saying - I know everybody has their things they enjoy and plants or whatever they prefer. I was just severely annoyed at being told how I should play. I get that "they" were wanting things a certain way - and whatever - that's their prerogative too. My whole rant is "you should play like this".
@Cardinal - I THINK you're kidding (since I can't hear your tone) - but just in case - I wasn't telling THEM how to play - I was telling them why I preferred Spice Plants.
-
It's nothing new. There has always been a gas/spice war in Ix. The best advice I can give is don't let it urk you. Ignore it and move on.
One day it's spice, the next it's gas, the next it's spice.......
Que Sera Sera

Whatevs. The resource routes really take the drama out of tree wars for me. I don't really care what trees are where anywhere. :) LOBEing the peace. ;)
-
I agree - I really do get annoyed at the "my way/my way" out in the world - that's the whole reason I DO spend so much time at home. Once I expand enough it won't be a big deal for me - but I sure do love the visual look of lx. (Would LOOOOVEE it if it was an option for a theme on our personal streets). But again, it wasn't really about what "side" people may fall on.
-
I think It'd be interesting if there were Ix backgrounds, then we could have a few glitchen collaborate to recreate Ix almost perfectly :P One glitch with 10 spice and nothing else connected to a glitch with 5 spice and nothing else connected to the previous glitch and another glitch with 7 spice connected to the previous two, in addition to another glitch with 3 spice, who is connected to a glitch with 6, connected to another with 4. Perfect solution, Ix housing style :P
-
Hi! :D
-
Lol- Hi Bacon :) And I think so too, @Liza!!
-
You are funny. And, yes, you should be able to play the way you like to play.
I also think that since there is no side correct here, and since you've acknowledged that, you are not asking about gas vs spice or old vs new. Good, those arguments are exhausting. And, I agree, no side is right or wrong.
So, I guess you really just wanted to rant about someone telling you how to play the right way, which would have made their argument the right one and would have "solved" everything for you, an unknowing and inexperienced glitch.
I hear ya! Good rant and nice way to be clear! Sorry that happened. I guess these are some of the unavoidable experiences associated with a game that has a large group of players.
Frankly, I say play the way you please. If you are within the terms of service rules, you are playing the right way. Even players who play in ways I (you, we, all of us, any of us, none of us) think are ...strange or rude or border-line are still playing the right way if they are playing the way they want and are not breaking rules.
Oh, new? I had no idea! Well, welcome to the game. I hope you are having fun. Odd thing is, there will always be someone newer or older. I guess some players like to make comparisons with other players. Good for them, I'm sure the player is proud of his or her long-standing as an upright glitchizen.
When someone gets me riled up, I like to stop and think "what could have caused that behaviour?" I know it might be nothing but it could just as well have been the worst day ever, they got fired or lost health benefits at work, their dog ran off, their SO did something awful, or anything really. Doesn't always work but I find myself less upset at the other when I stop and rationalize their behaviour.
I'll bet you could plant one single spice tree in your yard and have enough spice. Yeah, I'm probably wrong on that but I like trying to guess things. I never cook because I almost never eat so I get more spice than needed with my one spice tree.
Well, no idea why I'm so wordy today! I hope you get around the spice/gas thing and find a way to harvest the spice you need.
-
Well I miss the gas *and bubble* trees that used to be on the other side of Ix. They just looked better.
If you really need so much spice try the Serious Spice resource route - I filled my spice cabinet on a single street!
-
I had no idea there was a tree war. I'm not taking sides, but I don't understand why they would justify their cause to you by telling you to use a resource route. Couldn't they do the same? I don't get it...
-
@Minkey - BEAUTIFUL understanding of where I'm coming from. Yes. Exactly. I don't usually get so worked up, but this time, for some reason...
I don't appreciate virtually, or IRL, anybody being discounted - REGARDLESS of where they're at.
And I DO appreciate you all offering suggestions and understanding my point. I'm not trying to fuel the "war" - just voicing a Glitchy frustration ;)
-
Oh man, not this $%&(* again
[facepalm]

This thread completely enraged me.
Can you imagine if each one of us started a thread for every screed we felt like ranting about?
This isn't a productive way to converse about things. The people you were arguing about didn't listen to you so you had to subject all of us to it? How dare YOU think that your opinion so righteous that all of us need hear it?
Ix is the "holy land" of Ur. It will never be peaceful. It will never be static. I'm sorry someone didn't listen to how you like cooking. If you need lots of spice fast, the serious spice route will garner you 7000. That's far more efficient than entering the war zone of Ix.
That's my opinion.
So I can't be attacked for it, right?
-
I think this is a reaction due to people killing Gas Trees in south-west continent, I made some trips there lately and I saw on my way Spice Trees, no wonder someone may have been pissed.
Oh well, repopulation! That is always fun. As soon as I get the Dragon quoin achievement... in a few days!
-
Wow, Anya - I apologize - that was not my intention. I have seen other people post frustrations - so I assumed forums we're an ok enough place to do so. Obviously that may not be the case. No, it's not that I think my opinion is so righteous everyone should hear it. You opened up the thread and read it. It IS titled "RANT". I didn't force you do listen to me, or read it. I have never posted a "rant" before - and probably won't again. Especially knowing it "enrages" you.
-
Aw.
It's okay!
-
Well... bless your heart.
-
Don't get too upset about people bitching at you for ranting, that's the aspie way here in Glitch. If you don't like something you're told to f*ck off and get in line with the groupthink. Trust me, I had enough of this BS treatment when I voiced my opinion about wanting my home street to be private, so welcome to the club.
-
While I am not trying to "dictate playing styles" to anyone, I might suggest that a playing style that is flexible, in the aspect of finding locations to gather resources, might prove more fun in the long term in a game where other players can exert some control on where resources are located.
-
I think the term "aspie way" is pretty offensive, Kelti.
And lately all-spice-Ix is the majority opinion, so in actuality it's a big ranting thread in support of the status quo. Thus, your comment makes no sense.
And with that, I'm done.

"I'm sorry - I ENJOY COOKING. Cooking, planting, harvesting, making drinks - it's probably my MOST favorite thing ABOUT this game."
It's not that I don't agree with you, but, I enjoy making Fruit Tree Beans, but there aren't many Gas Trees there. I spend most of my time in Groddle Isle, and it's really convient to pass by and harvest them.
But, really. There needs to be more Spice Trees in Ur, not /homes. According to "The Glitch Resource Database", there are 106 Gas Trees in Ur, and 33 Spice in Ur.
I am on the fence when it comes to Spice vs. Gas. I think the design of Urailia and Ix was made for Gas. Though, I don't find it would matter.
I have seen people think about splitting the street 50/50, so it's even, but they always end up getting turned into Spice Trees. I don't know the full story of this war, but if someone turned them all into spice/gas, I would think that it would be fair to turn them back, but some may have instead changed them all. I think whoever was even part of poisoning and replanting this, it's your fault.
This is just my opinion.
-
"I'm sorry - I ENJOY COOKING. Cooking, planting, harvesting, making drinks - it's probably my MOST favorite thing ABOUT this game."
You also enjoy selling spice, according to your auctions on your profile. I was a bystander while all this was going on. I don't have the skill to poison a tree or to use antidote. I have to say that what I read doesn't really match up with the quotes you are using. You are putting words in the mouths of others. No one else said anything about your being new, you did. Ditto a couple of your other points. Just saying.
-
One of the gas planters (not sure if she still does replants the spice with gas) this was a little while ago told me that originally Spice trees were everywhere in Groddle Forest? Then TS changed the Spice planting permissions hugely reducing the numbers of Spice Plants in Ur. Then some people thought 'ooh it's getting a bit too quiet and nice around here, lets cause some drama' and so one glitch decided to go to one of the 'spice roads' and replant them all with Gas. The pure intention of this act was to create emotion/change of pace and to stir up some drama (and of course to wind up/piss off everyone who follows those roads to collect spice) which of course it did and still does! The stats on the database say it all really.
I wasn't here at the beginning of this story but I have experienced the drama after and thank god I don't venture onto that spice route very often. When I do it's at particular times when I know that the trees will all be spice. You know why they always get changed back to spice?? Because the majority who actually get out into the game and play prefer them that way. That was my rant..of sorts LOLOLOL Those bloody spice trees (or rather gas trees) are the one thing that will get my heart rate going!! So bloody weird....probably because the intention behind the act is just so flawed when so many are opposed to it. Especially when they camp out en mass to protect the street of gas. They feel the need to protect it because the majority do want the spice and they know that if it's left the next person to pop along in all likelihood will kill it off and replant a spice tree. Again, the camping out to protect is just reinforcing the argument that spice is the preferred tree by the majority who use those roads. When I say flawed, if I plan to do something that just to get a rise out of you or other players...it's not a good thing.
-
All we are saying, is...
give gas a chance!
heeheehee.
Honestly, I think the tree wars continue because people YAGE and RAGE and stomp their feet, and there might be some people who get a giggle out of seeing people get SO VERY MAD over a tree being in the "wrong" spot.
If I want a tree somewhere, I'll plant it if I have the permissions from the game mechanics. I can't grow an egg plant in ix, so I won't plant one there. In the mood for some gas? I'll plant a gas tree and reap its harvest. Short on spice? I'll plant a spice tree.
And every single other player in this game may do the same. :)
Except Glassy. She doesn't know botany so can only be a bystander.
Now, let's take a nice deep breath and all be friends. I like friends. Friendship is, after all, Magic.
-
I lobe you Zubes : ) That's right you know, it's anyone right to plant any tree they choose. And it is also any other players right to come right up along side you and replant their own tree of choice. Camping out is a sign of passive aggressiveness.
-
I lobe you too, Arabesque. <3
ETA -- camping out is the BEST tho! Imagine, so many new trees you can harvest from, instead of just twice from that one tree. The trees wars are so profitable because you can harvest many more times. it's kinda like dinner and a show.
This game needs popcorn. I like popcorn. :D
-
*smooch* lol - I still love this game can't wait for it to go live! So many friends I want to bring onboard!!!
-
That's why I avoid the entire area for the most part...bloody hell. Last time it kicked off thank god I wasn't involved directly but I managed to teleport one of the antagonists to another region lol We had a good chat actually. Trees are like politics...should never be discussed between friends HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-
Bella Rose - I entirely agree. Remember the old saying.
"Don't wrestle with pigs. You'll get all muddy, and the pig likes it."
-
Glassy, I do sell spice as well, that's true. So? Again, this wasn't suppose to be about gas or spice, and frankly I'm sorry it's turned into that. While you may have not seen some of those things said, they were. You particularly did not say them, no.
-
You know what WalruZ? You're totally right. I regret even more thinking this would be a good idea. Oof.
-
So did WalruZ just call us all Oinkers? (I sure hope that wasn't offensive to the UR Pig Federation!! ;)
-
Lol! BACOOONNN!!! I do like me some piggies. ;)
-
WalruZ, that was brilliant. You hit the nail on its head.
Or should I say, the piggy on its snout? ;)
-
@Anya - I didn't know there was quite the spice/gas debate there is. I guess I should have titled it "don't tell other people how to play" -RANT. Lesson learned.
-
I love meat.
-
my meat collector is full.

I have to say, I do miss the old days where the 'lighter side' of Ix was gas and the 'darker side' of Ix was spice...and yes, I got quite irked when the gassies tried to put their plants on the streets with spice in their name. Though it seemed like the spicies took over all of Ix and banished the gassies to Kalvanna. I fought long and hard in those days for spice rights...but hey, it is what it is...I'm kinda meh about it all now. I truly get that spice is way more needed than gas (though gassies will tell ya different)...but I'm at the point of oh, well, when the 'wars' attempt to flare up. I chuckle that the yutes think they are doing something new by antagonizing people with the tree wars...and I do think the resource routes have taken a lot of wind out of their sails. Don't let it get to you...this too will pass if you don't make a huge deal out of it...and the yutes will move on to something else...
-
Lol, you like quotation marks. Sweet.
-
Was I just called a yute?
(what's a yute?)
-
ROFL...i love this game...
-
And I love you, Diablo.

I second the Diablo love.
-
@Bella Rose, "Gas Fans who were there at the time told me I should go to the Spice Routes instead of coming here. Or "you can plant 30 Spice Trees in YOUR yard"
This is the same quote often made by players that want only spice trees Ix (just substitute gas with spice). So you have two groups making the exact same argument.. and they're both correct. Yes that could be done, but why?
You have every right to feel frustrated. Right or not, I don't think anyone likes being told "this is how you should play the game". Not by either side.
My opinion about Ix in general: I think Ix being "entirely spice tree" is pushing & supporting segregation, and I find that a bit yucky! Personally I would like to see a few gas trees and bubble trees mixed in amongst the spice to create a harmonious and beautiful landscape (and hopefully a more harmonious game play as well).

awww Zubi ... u made my day ;)
