Auction Variants - Items for Items

Someone made a point about this in another thread about the expensive 50k houses, and I had an idea that I thought was neat, since he made a point about having to collaborate in this game. I'm not sure if this has been thought of before, but here goes.

Not every single Glitch has every skill. It takes a loooong time to get to that level, and I'm not sure if anyone has managed it even, yet. Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to globally contact players with the items that you CAN make, even when not playing?

Currently, Glitch has an auction system. Glitches put items up for sale for a certain amount of currants, and then others can buy those items. I thought it would be neat if, instead of currants, items could be traded for items. For example:

Glitch A puts Item A up for sale. If someone wants Item A, Glitch A wants either:
3x Item B
5x Item C
or
8x Item D

Then, hours later, while Glitch A isn't playing, Glitch B comes across the auction. Glitch B wants Item A, and Glitch B has 5 of Item C. Okay, so they click the button, and the items are traded instantaneously, the auction ending with this trade. Everyone is happy. :D

I know that this was kind of long-winded and messy in being explained, but does anyone get what I mean/think this would be a good idea?

  • I like this idea better compared to how the auction is currently set-up. Using items to trade encourages item creation and movement. Though I wouldn't recommend removing the ability to purchase items with currants in the auctions, since currants seem to come only through street vendors and the auctions.
