What next?

So I have all the upgrade cards (one time purchases/glitch enhancements), 100x quoin multiplier, max brain capacity.

I only have two possible goals left in the game: lvl 60 and some badges/achievements. But getting them seems boring and very monotonous tasks so they are not very enticing goals.

So my question is what next? I've not heard of any fun changing developments coming in the game and have no idea what to do that is enjoyable.

Possibly related is glitch fatigue topic (http://www.glitch.com/forum/general/23255/)...

  • Quite understandably, TS's attention has been directed toward improving the experience for new and active mid-level players. It's for sure the case that the "old hands" who have maxed out all the things/achievements/quests/levels have had to make their own fun for some time now.

Some options: keep making our own fun, help out the newbies, haunt the forums (me <-- ), take a break, be patient and wait for the shiny.

Or, y'know, build an MMO of your own. That'll keep ya busy! ;-D

  • @Windborn: Not sure how that is relevant. What fun does a tower add? I have enough currants that I don't need to sell anything...

@Pascale: Heh.. Not a game designed. Although yeah, working might be an alternative but it's of course not as much fun as playing a game ;)

  • My tower has been a lot of fun, and it had absolutely nothing to do with currants.

A coop, a community kitchen and free selling space for newbs.  None of which have anything to do with amassing currants.

Try it.  You may enjoy it.

  • There are lots of creative uses for towers. :)

  • You should also check out the towers that are being used as party spaces, and museums, and public performance spaces, etc, etc.

  • Well, sure, you're running out of most of the built-in goals of Glitch, but why not try to make some goals of your own?

I've seen other people using towers as a museum (I'm currently working on one, myself), a party space for friends, a second home, or to display works of dropped item art--all with no intention of collecting currants.  If you get creative, you might be able to find a use that's fun for you to design and build and then show off!  Considering the amount of resources, currants, advertising, etc. that goes into running a space, it'd keep you pretty busy should you decide to show it.

Or, if towers still hold no interest to you: start a snap-swapping group and make new friends.  Start a themed giveaway in the forums.  Run around and give gift bags you've put together to the newbies.  Spend your currants recklessly on collecting an SBD full of purple.  Plot a route through the entirety of Ur, stopping to admire the scenery and pet the piggies and meditate on your favorite things about this game.

The possibilities for fun are pretty endless here, I think--it's just up to you to find which ones are fun for you.  If you really can't find anything that looks fun for you to at least try to do, then maybe it's best to take a break and come back in a few months with a fresh outlook.  The fun will still be here when you get back!  :)

  • Interesting. I will create a tower and figure out what I can use it for.

I don't like this assumption that a tower is only a place to sell things. I don't sell anything in my tower. My tower is a shrine to the giants. The tower is a great place to design rooms for other glitches to enjoy or to make art (check out the snaps of the Sponge Bob made out of gems or the variety of stories people are telling). If anything building a tower is a nice goal. I finished building mine last week and now I'm spending time crafting things to help design my floors. When I'm done I'm going to have a party. This is my kind of fun.

  • I've seen a swimming pool in a tower. Now that is creative. I've bounced on beds, hung out, made a mess. Shared, and trying to get some of the more social badges has meant I've had rather a jolly nice time with some other glitchies.
I want to host a party but being UK time means most people are off line when I play. I still want to get the mass cubimal gathering badge, that could be great fun.

  • With the updates, snaps, groups, chat, forums, etc., Glitch is very effectively a virtual social networking site. I find lately I do much more of that and parties than I do grindy stuff. Between mixing those two and the creative part (snap hunting, deco, etc.), it makes a good balance.
