PLEASE READ! Killing Trees does not make automatically make me a jerk...

i decided to kill a few spice trees in ix in flipside and people started calling me a jerk! this pisses me off.
Just because someone kills a few trees doesnt make them a jerk. Also i was merely freeing up plots to let the people decide whether to plant new spice plants or plant something else.

I respect the people that love spice being in ix!...thats why i generally leave east and west spice alone. but i consider any other street fair game. You guys should think twice before calling somebody a jerk. Besides, i wasnt going on a tree killing spree, just killing a few trees thats it.

FYI calling people a jerk without clearly knowing if they are a jerk is kind of jerky...

  • Ix is a busy area, and poisoning 5 trees in that area has an impact.

I don't think "jerk" is the right word to use. "careless", maybe.

it shouldn't matter too much though. antidote is so easy to apply and replanting + fertilidust returns thing to normal within minutes. so long as players don't need to do this every few hours, all is well.

  • It's easy for people to get upset about Spice Trees, since there are so few places where they can be planted. If Tiny Speck changed Ur so that we could put Spice Trees anywhere, that'd rock and there'd be no problem. But when spice trees (public ones) are already highly limited and valued, killing a single one of them can quickly become a very emotional (and potentially economically problematic) issue for numerous Glitchens.

Go kill some bean / bubble trees, those are a dime a dozen and aren't limited to locations where they can / can't grow like Spice Trees are

  • as for gas versus spice, I've never heard a compelling argument for why Ix needs so much gas when spice is used by so many more people for so many more things.

personally, I'd like it if east and west spice, flipside, gamera way and groddle ladder were entirely spice and the rest of Ix was entirely gas. this would reflect the overall utility of each resource in the game.

  • There's really no argument for the Gas vs. Spice. It's just simple plain conflict of interest between the two sides.

  • If I go to an area and the normal trees are not there I poison the trees that should not be there. LOL

  • Also +1 Black Francis ;)

I think it's jerky to poison a tree and not replace it, especially if you're in someone else's neighborhood.  My street has two Wood Trees that everyone maintains, and somebody replaced them with Bubble and Bean trees today.  I don't have Botany, so I had a friend poison the Bubble tree, and I replaced it with a Wood Tree, since that's the resource we had been cultivating on our street.

(Also, if you're going to poison something and replant, it would be kind to grab some Fertilidust from the auctions, so that you're not leaving a seedling or unharvestable plant behind when you leave.)

I'm also of the opinion that poisoning Spice Trees in East/West Spice is a jerky move -- those are the specific areas that are named "Spice" (for crying out loud), and a lot of people come there to harvest those trees.  If you need to poison a tree or plant a bean for a quest, go to a side street in a less-heavily-used area, and please re-plant the kind of bean that you found there!

  • Heck, even if the only streets "restricted" to spice only were East and West Spice, that would stop most of the whining, I think. If the street name SAYS Spice, maybe that is a hint. ;)

Kalavera is overrun with gas trees; maybe Kalavera should become known as the "go to" place for gas, too. :)

  • You told me that you were playing the villain.  The price of being a villain is that people call you names.  Either man up, or find some other way to play.  I'm still waiting for a riddle, personally.

  • Nobody here knows you in real life. Any name they call you does not apply to you, but to the game and the propositions you made within it. They have as much of a right to decide "you" are a "jerk" as you do to poison spice trees. These are pixels. You're an avatar. It's a game.

  • Why on earth cultivate wood trees? Or should I say why on Ur?

Now, wood trees are required for a single quest, but I see people filling whole streets with them. It seems like a 'chip on the shoulder' gesture for the most part. And an anti-newbie move, since new players don't have a yard to plant trees in and need actual usable harvests, not useless planks.

But this is a game world so I suppose ultimately we are all playing games... And I suppose other players should indulge the wood tree enthusiasts by harvesting and clearing so they have a 'plight of the wood trees' to worry over.

  • I didn't even know you could kill them... other than the wood ones.
