confirmation before emblems

ok, i know this has come up before, but i'ma say it again...

when you hit the amount of favor needed for an emblem, you should be able to choose whether you want the emblem or not.  at this point, i've already gotten and spent every emblem i can get and spend, and i'm not interested in any more, especially since there's no good way of getting rid of them save just dropping them on the ground (i left 3 in the backyard of my old house).  i am, however, interested in spending favor to speed my learning, so i do a lot of donating.  every so often, though, i overshoot with my tributes, and the shrine just automatically doles out an emblem without asking if i'd rather spend the 1100 favor i just tirelessly worked to pump into it.  i would really prefer being given the option of spending favor before having it all automatically taken away in exchange for an item that's more or less useless to me yet still rather expensive to obtain.

  • case in point - right now, i'm about 50 favor away from getting my 4th emblem of tii. i am, however, already learning as fast as i can, so i can't spend any of the favor i have. if, however, i level up or get a badge or anything else that inadvertently pushes me over the threshold before i'm able to spend any of that favor, then i automatically lose it all?

  • +1 - I've seen this mentioned before too, and now that I've played enough to actually accumulate more emblems than I can use, I really understand the problem!

  • A few hours ago one of the devs (Jade) mentioned there's going to be more ways to use emblems in the future. So you might want to hold on to them!

However, I agree with OP that you should be given the choice between an emblem and speeding up learning.

It also feels counter-intuitive that the "counter" stops when you hit 1100 favorpoints. What, the giant suddenly doesn't like what I do anymore? In my opinion the counter should go on after 1100 (so you will not lose favor points for your actions) and you can get the emblem when it suits you.

  • Yes this would be sooooooo helpful. Once while trying to gain lots of favor in order to speed up something I was trying to learn I over-gifted to Zille and was suddenly the proud owner of an emblem I did not want or need. As a result now when I am "Earning for Learning/Speeding for Reading" I sprinkle some powder, make a donation, then cash in whatever credit I have just earned with that giant. Then I do the the whole process again. And again. And again. It pays to be cautious but it is a pain!

What are my hopes and dreams, you ask?

    1) Do not automatically award emblems. Have a notification tell players that they have earned enough favor for an emblem if they want one.

2)Have the "Check Favor" screen give options that allow players to A)Cash in favor for an emblem. B)Cash in favor to speed up learning. C)Let their earned favor continue to accumulate in their "favor bank" until the need for A or B arises, which would let us avoid the various "accidental earned emblem" scenarios described above.

On the other hand if we can't get something like this implemented then what we have instead is the perfect opportunity for the creation of the "Accidental Earner" badge.

  • I'm thinking, it won't be a meter. Instead, it's another system: the 'check favour' screen will show how much favour I've got, there will be an emblem meter based on how many times you donated instead of what you donate, and you won't -favour when you get an emblem. Though it still won't get rid of the problem of what to do with emblems, I guess that's a feature not a problem.
