Let's talk! Happy Awesome Forum of Goodness?

Hello all! I started playing Glitch right after it was released from Beta (I'm at level 19!), thanks to an invite from MordecaiWalfish who (I think) started playing during the Beta version. I can't thank him enough! I have had to seriously re-evaluate my priorities to make time for this game (thank goodness I have a laptop!)

I have fallen in love with this MMORPG where I don't have to fight Hydra or Skale or other players to do well. Instead, I can run up to someone and hug them or give them a sammich! Usually, this favor is returned with some neat item and a note saying " 'Someone Awesome' added you as a contact! "  In Glitch, if you need help from another person completing a quest, all you have to do is ask and someone will help you, whether it be to dig patches or harvest a last egg (Thank you again, Botia!)! =) ~Thank you all for making this a wonderful game and community gaming experience!~

I love that I can spend my time milking butterflies, completing quests, or just running around looking for neat things in the game! I can do ( virtually ^.^ ) whatever I want depending on my mood, how much time I have, or even what my level of commitment is. =)

Can you please share some of your favorite things about Glitch? Or any memorable community experiences? Any random Glitchen-ness or any sort of -ness you wanna talk about? =P

  • I really like that glitch doesn't force me to wear clothes like those OTHER mmos.

  • I like meeting lots of people on Global, playing silly little jokes, and giving stuff to people :)

    AND the art/wildlife of course!

  • you caught me putting green eggs in trees.  i think that's my favorite part of this game...
it's possible i have problems.  at least they're happy problems?

  • I love all those things mentioned already, but also, I especially love that my male character can dress up in Women's clothing from time to time.  ^_^*

The kindness and sharing of the community mirrors the other online game I'm addicted to currently, PonyIsland (don't laugh.................... ok laugh haha ) XD

  • Many good points here! What strikes me most is the universal appeal Glitch has acclompished with the game: the positive energy. It doesn`t have to be dark and diabolic to be cool, and the creators have figuered that out. My first experience with mmo and my bias was "knocked out" :)

    Great topic starrkittyface, btw!

  • I think the fact that real life money has very little impact on player success in Glitch is an amazing strong point. There are so many 'free' MMOs which claim that non-subscribers are at no disadvantage vs. paid subscribers but to me Glitch is the first which makes me feel that way.

And to be honest, that makes me more inclined to give Tiny Speck my money.

  • You really hit on the basic things that make Glitch so special and unique, kitty! I too love being able to do whatever I feel like doing that day - whether it is accomplishing quests, exploring places I have never been, or just socializing! I agree with Tantalum that the positive energy is really overwhelming and I just really LOVE that part of our little world!

One of my favorite things is the "closet" - the ability to make all kinds of outfits - the wilder the better, as far as I'm concerned! The wardrobe devs have the most amazing imagination and somehow can tell the things that you have always wanted to wear! On top of that, so MANY items are free and you really can make a great wardrobe just from those if you can't afford to buy things!

I think, though, my VERY favorite thing is just the underlying hilariously wry sense of humor that the writers have - from the things that the learning rock says to you, to the dialog from all the animals, rocks and trees - it never ceases to get a smile from me! Stoot and the devs really are my heroes for creating such a wonderful place to be!!! :D

  • I love being able to walk around here there and everywhere in my little bare feets. I love the colors - not all of them, but the variety is wonderful even so. I love the scenic views. I love the flowers and green stuff. I love the friendly critters and all the stuff the trees say. (Big Bear Kiss to Glitch!)

  • @Hab - devs humor? that carob-like recipe is totally lmao!

  • I wish I could "Mega-like" all of your comments! And yes, I love the writers' humor that has been incorporated into every aspect of gameplay, including allowing Glitches to cross-dress. =P One of my particular favorites is how much chaos ensues on the screen whenever you level up. Oh! And the sparkle powder! I think that's probably my favorite item in the game (that I've come across so far).

So glad you guys like this topic, I thought the forums needed a little more optimism and awesome! Thanks again for being a part of it! =)

  • Oh oh yeah!  That you can't pay to get ahead, that's a HUGE draw for me too.  :: nods ::
And the humour behind the writing... like that you can taste pig plop (and the reaction, ahahahaha XD ) or the puns the bean trees make, etc.  And that the animals talk.  And of course that it's light and happy, not kill-this / evil-overlord that.  ^_^

  • I think it is fun that most of the trees and animals seem to have set personalities.

The gas plants are peaceful hippies, a little spacey and addled.
The bubble trees are paranoid conspiracy theorists. WHO ARE YOU WORKING FOR? DID YOU HEAR THAT? I CAN'T SAY ANYTHING ELSE...*THEY* MIGHT HEAR!
The bean trees are silly, goofy, and love dumb jokes and puns.
Paper trees are a little snarky and sarcastic, slightly resentful that you don't NEED them like you might need other plants. It would be cute if they took on a very literary, learned, highbrow character as befitting a Tree of Letters.
Butterflies barely have two brain cells to rub together and might wander off in mid-sentence, forgetting to pause to let you milk them.
Chickens are perpetually indignant and self-righteous about everything, sort of like militant activists with chips on their shoulders about how chickens are unappreciated, but repeatedly put themselves in your way so they have an excuse to gripe.
Piggies are like laid-back surfer dudes or the HHGTTG fancy restaurant's talking "eat me" cow. It's good, it is all good.

I miss the derpy fruit trees saying "Froo?" at me (which they have not done in a long time), but I can't really classify them. What do you think?

What personalities would you assign to the wood, spice and egg trees?

  • my favorite thing about the game is the potential. i also like the look/feel. there's a great foundation here, but i'm holding out for the real game. it's coming.

fave moments were hanging out in my stomping ground of ix. i log in now and it's always spice. so i am happy about that.

reconnecting with GNE people. that was important for me on a personal level. made some new friends too. so all has been well.

i love the tree comments too, loralie. i actually had an idea thread about a tree investigation quest.

  • wood trees are pervs. Sweet but creepy.
Posted 13 months ago by Jugni Subscriber! | Permalink
  • Hehehhe... Skale *flashback*

Wood trees are definitely pervs, always making innuendo at me.

Spice trees are more flirty and subtle in their perversion, like high class working girls giving you a nod and something 'spicy' for your trouble.

For all of you who are nice, pleasant, kind and generous to others, newbies and strangers alike, thank you. :D

  • I absolutely can not resist the piggies.  When I pet one, I feel like I have actually made an adorable piggy smile.  It is heartbreaking to me to see sad piggies.  I want a happy piggy in my house in RL so I can pet it anytime I want.  Meanwhile I will pretend my adorable dog is a piggy. :)

  • Haha I do the same thing with my fatty kitteh. He even grunts like a piggy sometimes. ^___^

I love that the game and the community embraces helping each other and creativity. The ideas and projects I've seen from the groups amazes me all the time and makes me giggle.

  • i love the sweet innocence of the game. Any affection is given through a bear, for crying out loud, how wonderful! The feeling is childlike and I remember when I understood that I could do just about anything without feeling afraid. I could explore anywhere and try so many things! I want to feel this carefree all the time!

  • @Lorelei,
Did you miss the fact that paper trees only speak in haiku?

  • I love being able to jump in and out and play as deeply or as rarely/superficially as I like. I have a life, and I hated the "gotta keep up" mentality of WoW. I only wish there were more quests for higher levels. :-)

  • Windborn: I haven't encountered many paper trees, so, yes, I totally missed that! :)

  • I hope that it's okay to bump up a thread like this ^^;

I like the rock personalities! My favorite is the Beryl rock. It's very pessimistic ("You were just going to pick me up and leave me anyway." "Pick on someone else, will you?"). The Sparkly rock is adorable too ("Everything should sparkle! Except maybe vampires."). I like the Batterflies too. They're very minimalist when talking (typing?): "this is all you deserve"

I was in another tab when someone donated 80 Butterfly Milk on me. Granted, it's not a lot to some of you, but it's a lot to me, even after about a month into playing ^^ I'm going to use that milk to make Divine Crepes and give them away to players in Groddle.
(I friended that person just to send them Ix braised meat, and then she friended me back, and then I found out she was a dev AAAAAAH! <insert hwfo>)

Without further ado, thank you, Araldia!
