Glitch review

Hi all!

I hope this is the correct forum in which to post this but... I wrote a long-ish review on my blog and I wanted to share it here for all those interested.

Some quick background: my blog is focused (or was) mainly on World of Warcraft but since I quit the game many months ago, I've been discussing other games as well, so just ignore that stuff if it doesn't interest you.

I'm not a Glitch veteran and I just started playing maybe like a month ago but I'm having plenty of fun. So here it goes: Glitch review. Thanks for visiting!

  • Very nice review! But I would change the 'credit' terminology to something else, as there are credits in game, used to buy clothing, which might be confusing to some.

  • Saiei you're right, I didn't realize that, perhaps because I don't partake in buying credits.

  • Only reason I made note of it is because of the credits I got when I joined with the invitation I received. :)

  • Nice Review, Thanks!  There was no limit to leveling during Testing.  With the Reset and Opening, the Devs have now capped leveling at 60.  I suspect there will be more on that issue before long as it is not taking very long to reach 60 for many of the players.

You still have many fun things to discover!  Be sure to find all the doors that the keys unlock, those are great places!  You did not mention the Music which I think is really fabulous!  There are different musical themes for different areas and there are 5 sets of Music Blocks to collect plus a couple of special Blocks which were gifts for testers.

Housing is added often.  I suspect that there may be a housing bloch on each street eventually.  There are also plans to add the ability to "improve" your house in the near future.

Drinks raise mood as well as some actions like petting trees and pigs.  Food, of course, raises Energy as well as a few other things.  You can die from low Mood even if you still have Energy and vice versa.  I have learned enough cooking Skills to keep plenty of food and drink in Inventory so I can recover from my occasional visit to Hell (not purgatory).

Although this is touted as a "social" game, you can play it completely on your own.  There are some Group Quests which you do need help with but you don't "need" to do them if you prefer to play alone.  There are many Groups to join including some created by people who came here from other games.  There is, for example, a Group for WoW.  Even solo, non-social players might enjoy joining some Groups.  Most Groups have parties and other activities that can be fun even for non-social players.  We now have Party Locations that can be leased for the purpose.  These places are expensive but several players can share the cost.

I hope that you continue to play and enjoy "Glitch".  I began last March as an Alpha tester and am still having a wonderful time.  I belong to several Groups and have many Friends but I play solo most of the time.  So, I enjoy both the pleasure of playing at my own pace and doing whatever I feel like at the moment but I also enjoy the companionship and occasional group play with my many friends.

ETA:  I forgot to mention the API.  There is a link At the bottom of the pages here, "Developers".  Check that out!  There are several player designed add-ons to Glitch that have been made using the Glitch API.  This may be unique.  I have only played one other MMO but I have never heard of any game that offered an API for player-created add-ons.  There are some Threads here regarding that.  You can use the Search to find them.
