New feature: Glitchy Marriage!

Mighty developers be thanked, you can now marry and foster children in Glitch!

Click on a fellow glitch (of any gender) and choose "Propose".
If they accept, you're officially Glitch-married!

After some time together (3 weeks, I think), the new action "do it"
will be available. If they are in the mood, you will get a "baby egg" (yes!),
which will turn into a baby glitch as soon as a new player registers to the game.

You can imagine the rest...

  • You should put this in the Ideas Forum.

As for your proposal... Who gets to propose to whom considering that Glitchen can change apparent genders on a whim?

  • what about sharing the same house as spouses. and would new born children (aka fresh registered player) be able to buy a house or would it use parent's house?
what about property rules to married couple?

  • Everyone can propose to everyone in real life (legal marriage is something else, but the giants don't seem the type to discriminate), why should Glitch be any different? ;p

  • Heh. The one who proposed should get a mood decrease if the other person says no.

  • "Children" (new players) get to be on the married Glitchens' insurance and receive a weekly allowance for 18 Glitch years.

Players get to assign in-laws to come over on Sundays.

  • I play Glitch with my husband and I am so NOT interested in being Glitch-married to him (or anyone).  He offered to let me "live" in his fancy 50k and I said no thanks, because what would I be doing? Planting his garden, watering his trees, feeding his pigs...just like real life. Let's keep real life out of Glitch, shall we?

I've been in games that allow game marriages.  It includes almost none of the joy or commitment and all of the horror of marriage in RL.  People fight, want divorces, argue over dividing the property, and on and on.  And then you get people arguing over opposite, same-sex, and multiple marriages and bringing divisive RL politics into the game.

In the game, with key sharing, you can already share a house, and with chat, you can maintain any kind of relationship you want with other players.  New players arrive as they want, and I'd rather have more livestock and pets than babies.  I'm really against creating some kind of fake game mechanism for marriage.

  • Marriage? Nah... what about a companion?

For some reason, I don't see a marriage as a glitchy feel. However, there were few weddings in the past, which it was pretty fun (and lagggggy).

  • Ameh, if you love fudge so much, why don't you go marry it!

erm, i mean... yeah... kinda weird nothing - and people apparently don't need any in-game features to have an in-game marriage, as has been done before a few times.

(really i just wanted to make that joke... carry on!!)
