I have had this quest for a few weeks and can't get it done. Where am I supposed to find an egg plant with only 1 egg left? Is there some trick to this I'm not getting?
I'm pretty sure you're going to need to find some other players to help you out, though I haven't worked out the mechanics yet myself. (Same for the "clear out a peat bog in x seconds" quest.)
You do, from time to time, see an egg plant with only one branch with an egg on it. Them's the ones to harvest. Also it's best not to water or pet till after you've harvested the last egg as if you do that they sprout more eggs. It took me a while to complete this task but it is doable on your own (or at least it was a couple of weeks ago)
Got this goal today. :) There was one egg plant with one egg and another with three. With two people there it was easy for us both to get the last egg. :)
Yeah I'm having a problem with this quest too - it's been on my docket for a long time now. I think if you plant an egg tree and wait around it until it only has one egg and then harvest it yourself it might work.
Completing this quest is easiest if the egg plant is small, as a smaller plant requires less harvests (and less people) to get it down to the last egg. But if you can get a largish group together, you could probably tackle a bunch of the larger egg trees in Groddle Heights.
I have to amend my earlier response - I finally completed that quest. And it happened just as Millie said - the small plant just had two eggs on it, and I harvested both of them. Phew!
I'm having trouble remembering where I can find egg plants! I feel like I saw dozens upon dozens of them a few weeks ago, but I've been going in circles trying to find them again. Any suggestions? I'm on the verge of making a map chart, noting what items are in each realm/place.... Thanks! :)
Anyone who needs to complete this quest or the empty the peat bog quest, let me know. I need to complete both and would love to find a group of folks to work on this cooperatively.
I was able to accomplish this fairly easily - it just has to be close to the end of a day...
1. Plant new egg plant
2. Wait for it to mature past seedling (just a few minutes)
3. Use fertilidust until eggs appear (I think it's twice)
4. Harvest
5. Wait for second day
6. Harvest - Quest completed!
If you can get close enough to the end of day, it won't take more than 6-7 minutes for the entire cycle.
The fact the Quest completes with a small plant... well technically it could be considered a bug. (heaven forbid that bug goes poof though) It does allow the Quest to be completed at any of the 'harvesting' stages, and it's tough going as it is.
The Eggplants have 10 stages (all trees except Wood do - which has 6). With eggs it's easier to see because there is roughly one branch per stage (some stages spawn 2 branches to make up for the early growing stages). Each 'Harvest' action removes one of the eggs from the branch 'cup'. Each 'Pet' action restores the eggs to their cups, basically refilling the plant.
This Quest is actually not difficult to complete if you round up enough people. 4-5 people with Gardening 1 (or 9 -10 people with no Gardening) should be able to take a fully mature Eggplant from 10 'eggs in cups' to 0 if Harvest is their only interaction.
The skills are a little awkward in their names in that:
Soil Appreciation = Tend / Dig actions with Patches and Dirt Piles (and I'm assuming the clearing portion of Garden plots though it isn't explicitly stated)
Light Green Thumb = Pet / Water actions with Trees
Gardening = Harvest actions with Trees
Croppery = Plant / Water / Harvest actions in a Garden plot
The Gardening / Croppery names are almost counter-intuitive until you think about what the skills/bonuses do and how the skill tree builds.
