Glitch strikes me as a game of discovery of wonderful things; to quote from the main page: "We comb the internet every single day looking for fresh and original visual styles. [...]We love awesome illustration and animation and part of our mission is to find the best of the best and bring it to a wider audience."
I am not sure how much the game is supposed to link with the rest of the internet, but I got the impression that it was never meant to stay contained within itself. I expect many of the players are artists themselves, tinkerers, makers, creative people. What do you think about the possibility to turn one's in-game home into a proper personal space, where we could display a small sample of our creativity, for example, our own drawings hanging as framed pictures on the walls, and have a portal to our personal websites?
There would of course have to be careful limits set down so that our homes would not become in-game versions of Myspace or DeviantArt pages, and of course the content would have to be filtered somehow to avoid abuse, (maybe individual approval based on quality of content?) but I think it would be wonderful if our real-life achievements could be linked to our avatars, and one could step out of Glitch to discover a new world.
To clarify, I am thinking of something rather minimal, a mere glimpse into another world, an invitation to get to know a player better, not a full-fledged artists' profile which would distract from gameplay. Let me display a piece of art in front of my home- the curious can knock on the door and be told where to go to find more. That would be enough.
It would be something that encourages interaction between players and would make it easier for individuals to stand out.
