Test Feedback (crashes)

I experienced a lot of crashes this test.  I played on both my laptop and my desktop and with different browsers.  It did not seem to matter.  Prior to this test I would say I seldom had a crash.  When I would get back into the game sometimes it took me back to an earlier play like it lost my game time.  I had more lag in game than I have experienced before.

I noticed that each time I linked to a new area, the screen would darken and tell me I was being reconnected.

  • I have had this problem before. It usually happens when I change streets.
I get a white screen with a exclamation point. I have to 'Refresh' to reload the game.

  • I noticed it definetly had more lag too this time around, and occasionaly my screen would go white with a ! in the middle, refreshing usually reloaded it but not had this problem in previous tests.

  • That thread is about using his experimental renderer...seems Sugar Plum is experiencing other issues.  Though this thread seems better suited in bugs than general.

Yes, noticed the reconnecting message now too when I played - which I thought was odd.  I had quite a few crashes this test also, but had as many last test as well.  I had the debugger installed, so hope they got the info they needed, though I don't know if they did since I couldn't report the crashes as they happened when I least expected it.

  • I had a ton of flash crashes and also got quite a few messages saying I was using an unsupported flash player (using regular newest version of flash, so I have no clue why it would be unsupported), that would pop up in a grey square, but if I clicked okay, they'd go away and let me play.
Thankfully it was better than last test, mainly due to no sneezing powder freezing everything, but the random crashes were still fairly frequent. If the game wasn't so addictive, I'd be frustrated by them.

  • I had a lot more crashes then usual as well, on both Firefox and Chrome, and both using the experimental renderer and not (although using the renderer did seem to improve lag before it crashed).

  • I had the same crash too. Including the white screen with the ! as well. I don't remember the street I was walking through right off hand, but if I saw the map I could likely pick it out fairly quick.

  • I did get the reconnecting screen more often than normal, but it never seemed to hinder loading time and I didn't see it as an issue.

Only had the White Screen of Death at the end of test party, but I'm not surprised!

  • The White Screen was new to me as well, and appeared several times.  Unfortunately, it froze my browser so badly that there was no easy way to make a bug report.  I wasn't usually paying enough attention to know what had triggered it.

  • I wasn't on much this test, but didn't experience any crashes, so I guess I was very lucky. The only think I noticed was that if I was standing still clicking on passing butterflies and then tried to walk I was usually stuck until I clicked my mouse on screen.

  • I've used both Chrome and Firefox on a netbook and 2 computers, one with XP and one with Windows 7. No significant difference. The game was stuttery on FF and had more crashes on Chrome, but was faster.
I often got long loading times on vendors and sometimes had to re-select them in order to interact. Changing zones was much slower than last week too, but well within acceptable limits.

    Splanking....
I got splanked 3 times over the weekend and it crashed my browser every time but I couldn't send the report because it froze my computer too.

  • I had micro-crashes every time I changed streets but the game recovered so swiftly I overlooked them----there were way too many to report anyway.
Had a couple of the exclamation marked white pages, unknown what I was doing to cause it and unable to bug report it. Refreshing brought the game back quickly so I played on.
I ran into only 1 serious laggy stutter but it might have been on my end as we were experiencing thunderstorms at the time. There were no repeats of lag.
I finally got a daughter to install the debugger for you hard working devs. Hope it helps.
This recent test was so full of GREAT STUFF, I fell down on my Beta testing limits crunchers and just played like a maniac in between weekend chores.

  • I had a lot of crashes too and the reconnecting thing was crazy.

Chat also stopped updating a few time, I would type something in and it would not show up. When I reloaded I found I missed a few minutes of conversation.

  • If only people were running the debug version of Flash, Tiny Speck might have some extra information to go on... :P

  • Many are RealJim. I suspect they will get a lot of info from this test session. I myself experienced a few crashes while using the debug version and the renderer version. This game is very resource heavy. It's interesting to note that other games that involve Flash (POGO and Faunasphere in the past) did/do not trigger as many crashes as this game does.
