Problem with new dragging-item rendering

When you move multiples (say, a stack) of items around in inventory by dragging, you now get the "multiples" version icon of the those items (e.g., four milks, a bunch of herbs, a pile of meat, etc.).

It's cute, BUT it makes it much harder to accurately target inventory slots. And it's weird that the view you begin dragging turns into another view as you drag.

I think this is an improvement that isn't really an improvement. It was worth trying, but it I don't think it really works.

  • Agreed. Trying to place a pile of dirt into a slot is difficult at best :(

  • The improvement in this change comes when you are dragging things from the pack into the location. I agree it was better before when dragging to move things within your pack, but then it was worse when dragging things into location (especially with items like the shaker) :/

    The eventual solution will be for the dragged icon to change from the iconic single view only when you drag out into the location. But that is not so simple, so it won't happen right away.

  • Thanks, Eric, I'll look forward to that ultimate improvement. Keep in mind that the same issue pertains to SDBs as to inventory bags, so that they both should probably be the single-icon view.

  • Ok, we rolled back, folks; we'll probably continue to look for some improvements in how dragging works, per Eric's post above.
