dying from crafting/not knowing energy amount to mass craft.

don't know if this is a bug or by design but it's hard to know how much energy mass crafting will take. for example frying up 80 some buns for sammiches or compressing butter to cheese can kill you pretty easy. It also seems to throw errors sometimes. I'll try and look at this more next test

  • I noticed that in this test, there was some inconsistency between trying to complete a bunch of crafting when you had low energy. Mostly I was told that I was too tired to do whatever, but at least once when I was crushing ore, I croaked with no warning.

  • there should be a warning before this happens.

  • One thing I noticed was that sometimes crafting (cooking in particular) just wouldn't work--I'd try to make 10 omelettes at once, for instance, and the frying pan wouldn't make any omelettes, it would just pop up a dialogue box saying something like "oops, try again?" It took me a few tries to realize it was a lack of energy--I had the energy to make one or two, not ten. More informative error messages there would be good.

  • Yes, that's what I finally realized was happening when I asked the Fruit Changer to make 35 apples and it just said, "try again". I finally snapped to the fact that if I were to make all of them, I'd go negative in energy, because it would work if I changed it to 10 at a time, or even 20.

+1 on the more informative error message there. I know y'all can come up with a clever retort when we-all try to get greedy and kill ourselves crafting.

  • I always found that if I was low on energy, I was unable to do tasks that would cause me to die. If however, I was high on energy and attempted to do a very energy-intensive task (refining 100 rocks at once comes to mind) I was successful in the task, but the huge energy loss sent me to Hell.

  • Does it take progressively less energy to complete those tasks over time? Seems like you should get some kind of experience benefit directly applied to your energy usage.

  • Skill ranks reduce it, but I'm not sure that happens more than once or my how much. well the tool-tip says so. I know it works for watering trees at least.
