Glitch, Love It or Leave It

Did that rub you the wrong way? It's basically what I was told when I posted an opinion in this forum earlier today. That was a popular attitude of the "establishment" when faced with anti-war protesters in the 60's in the United States. I hated it then too.

Love isn't always agreeing with everything. And it certainly isn't about being complacent. There is a reason for beta testing and the forums that give feedback to the developers.

On a personal level, these forums have often caused me to think more critically. I'm amazed by the insights and clear articulation of ideas submitted by some of the posters here. What an amazing group. My hope is that people active in the forums treat other's ideas with consideration and respect. You never know when you might learn something from someone who's ideas challenge your own. Saying nothing is also an option...one I've made good use of. ;)

  • I need a bug report button here, lol. I keep trying to post and it keeps deleting. May I say *again*, Riverwalker, I agree with ya.

  • Riverwalker, I have to admit that there have been times in the past when I have felt that way, as well. Then when I say something to that person directly, a lot of other people jump in and it becomes a larger issue, and I end up looking like the bad guy because my opinion is in the minority, sometimes. Such as when I suggested being able to claim rocks for mining. Then there was the whole issue of being afforded protections (i.e. the silencing of individuals using egregious pejoratives), to which, initially, I was essentially told to deal with it. Luckily, stoot saw a more recent post of mine addressing the issue and has assured us we won't have to just "deal with it." But I can't deny that having been told that, initially (and it essentially being the same thing as "love it or leave it"), left a bad taste in my mouth for a while...

  • Everyone has ups and downs and so it shows in the Forums.  If you are "down", that is no excuse to be mean to others so rant if you like but don't make it personal  We all have opinions.  I feel bad when I read some personal barbs against others.  We are all here together.  We are all testing.  It is part of our responsibility to point out problems.  The Devs need to know what we think so they can make any adjustments that might be needed.  "Love it or leave it"?  Well, you can do that but if you only "Love it", the Devs won't know what needs an adjustment.  If you don't "Love it" at all then please do "Leave it".

@ Riverwalker, I am very sorry you had that happen.  It is OK to disagree with you, it is NOT Ok to be mean about it.

  • I'm sorry I missed the one about the pejoratives, I would have had some things to say there. I'm glad it's being addressed though.

River, I agree that "love it or leave it" is a distasteful thing to say in almost any context.  More importantly, I agree that love doesn't mean agreeing with everything or eschewing change.
