WANT! So... @WindBorn, if you have two... wanna get rid of one? Also, if you have two, doesn't that mean that it's not unique? Any other sightings? I'm hoping it's like the d12 and will start showing up all over!
Another hide and seek, hope all my animals stay alive while I'm out searching the world, now I have to find a fortune cookie, a 12 sided dice and a pet sitter. lol
I had a really old game I loved "Rosemary's House of Fortune", loved that game. Came on big 5 inch floppy disc. I used it everyday for years and I always got a different fortune.
As far as I can tell, the Fortune Cookie is a single-use tool. You put a note in the cookie. (paper, pen, Penpersonship I). When you click on the cookie to view the fortune inside, the cookie crumbles, and the note is turned into a different item, call a fortune.
A sniper is a software program that a person can set up to make a bid for them over the internet, even if they aren't watching an auction.
The use of "snipe" for this dates back to early eBay days. To keep competitors from bumping up the price of a desirable object, some people would wait until the last few seconds of an auction before placing their bid. It would look like the item had no bids but at the last second, someone would buy it at its opening price. That was called 'sniping'.
Of course, people quickly wrote software to do this when they weren't online at the time the auction ended. On Glitch, people have twisted the meaning around, so that the software is set to buy the item as soon as it is placed in the auction. The Glitch 'sniper' software can be set to buy an item at a maximum price. If someone adds an auction for a price less than your maximum, the software buys the item for you.
I'm not going to start a philosophical debate over whether snipers are good or bad (that debate is over here), but I will say that the do play a role in determining the "real value" of items, since they basically act as a price floor. "Snatcher" would be a better term for what the scripts are doing.
Stoot has said that they are okay (at least for now).
ahh this is kinda sad .. in the first days of my glitch life after learning penmanship i had started writing up a few different lost fortune cookie fortunes and left them throughout Ur. since then i have been making a main list of 1 to 77 lost fortune cookie fortunes to make and place around the world after reset .. but oh well i guess this will give me something else to put the fortunes in before sending them out to the world of Ur
