New Pages on Glitch

I wish there were pages for Projects and Quests; similar to Skills, Friends etc.

This Projects page would be dynamic and contain
- Active projects list
- Current stage of project
- Items required and quantity (which dynamically update)
- People contributing to the project (again dynamic)
- All the projects you contributed to in past, with %

This will give everyone an even playing field to contribute on projects; and donate items. Currently it is at the discretion of the new projects group announcements.

---

Quests Page would contain

- Quests list similar to the accomplishments page under Encyclopedia
- Requirements for quests- skills needed etc
- Benefits you gain from that quest

  • A projects page would make things so much better. Pretty please?

  • +5! (1 for each) ;)

  • +5 was accidently introduced into the forums by Myles and will be wiped shortly.

Even if it were an automatically updated part of an encyclopedia entry for the street before, I'd take it.

  • What do you mean, tingly (about the +5)?

  • I am going to say I'm against this. Not hugely but projects are currently the one semi-forced semi-community activity (beyond a few quests). I LIKE the fact you need to tune into a projects group (I bet when the game opens, numerous ones will form) or scan the map and go find out what is needed. I worry that if it is put on a page, it encourages folks to horde and sit at home, waiting for a list to go up. Grab everything you can that is needed and run like hell.
I'm not against a page of active project that post what phase they are in and the percentage done. That gives you bit more info and lessens the chance you run to a project only to find it mostly over. I'm just against a list of what is needed.
Fine with quests. I kind of like the surprise but that is a personal choice.

  • More on the side of Lord Bacon-O I think. It can just get a tad frustrating when people don't keep updating the chat group.
    Hahahaha Tingly :P

  • I think that as long as the individual incentives/rewards for contributions don't get out of whack, hoarding would become less of an issue with a project status page. In other words, if the main incentive is the completion of the project itself, and not being on the top 5 contributors list, this should sort itself out naturally.

As it stands, it seems to me that the cost in energy/resources to make it to the top 5 contibutors list far exceeds the rewards you receive. The main bonus seems to be the trophy piece and possibly a 'special gift'. Not really worth it. If someone wants to sit at home with bags of guano and paper ready to go, I say more power to them. Once that person gets their trophies, they'll be less inclided to contribute as much due to law of diminishing returns. Then someone else will have their chance.

The current system of manual updates through group chat seems to lead to a far worse type of hoarding - information hoarding. And if your statement about more groups being created for the same exact reason is true...then do I have to be part of the 'right' group that is good at sending updates, or ALL of them? The net effect of the way things currently are is longer project completion times. Knowledge is power and should be fairly and evenly accessible.

Again, if the project is structured such that the reward is the completion of the project itself, and not an individial reward, the fact that I came in 30th place versus 1st place becomes less important to me.

Not to mention, we'd then have a shiny new tower that we could go inside and play...oh wait...
