[resolved] The unwanted spice rack

I bought an extra one with the intention of donating it to a shrine. Could I heck. I'd drag it to the shrine, but it could only be dropped at my feet.

I tried selling it back to the vendor... Nope and it didn't matter which vendor--- groceries, hardware, tools.. another kitchen vendor No deal. All I could do was drop it at my feet or put it back in my pack.
I tried auctioning it off.. nope
When "Auction what?" appears.. the slots of the spice rack open, but the actual rack can't be auctioned.
Is this intentional?
Is my only option to give it away or find someone willing and able to trade for it?
or is it in fact a bug?

  • I think containers currently can't be sold due to a bug relating to selling/donating a container that's full of stuff.

  • I found one of the smaller bags on a street somewhere last test, named something like, "Take this, it's yours". I suppose that's one fun way to get rid of unneeded containers. (Or fill them full of stuff you let pile up in your house, like maybe emblems, and stack them neatly in a corner as if they were cabinets. Or put them IN your cabinet!)

  • Well that might explain it, quoo. I was starting to think I couldn't sell or donate it because it was empty.

  • You can't donate, auction, or sell bags. So yeah, you have to drop it and hope someone picks it up. This leaves us with an issue of how bags eventually get destroyed (to prevent bag inflation), which we'll look into, but for now this is intended behavior.

  • Bag inflation? *Pop!*

  • I think it should be totally possible to sell empty bags - If you can buy empty bags, you should be able to sell them.

  • I like the fact bags can't be sold/donated/destroyed, it lead to me being able to pick a couple of small bags off the ground when I started, which helped a lot since inventory space is important but bags/toolboxes are expensive.

  • That's part of the fun in the game! As Beefcake said above, this leads to people with an overabundance of bags. The whole reason inventory space is so limited is to provide a bit of a challenge to the player, and if everybody's dropping bags because they're buying new ones, then that aspect of gameplay goes away.

  • I really don't mind that bags can't be donated or sold but I think at some point within the game it should be made clearer. Perhaps the third or fourth time player tries to donate one to a shrine or sell one to a vendor there should be a response other than the bag dropping on the ground.... something along the lines of " Hey, it's yours. We don't want it."

  • @caley dunn: Good idea, +1.

Also, maybe rather than dropping bags, they should simply be destroyed. This would solve the economy issue
