the majority of the replie are us trying to figure out which one to keep but its up to the players but in mine you can also talk about the last QUEST you were on
Powered through a lot of skills this test. Managed to get Animal Kinship 6 and Remote Herdkeeping done, finished Tinkering 3, Engineering, Block Making, Fuel Making, Refining 2 (and some other lower tier skills done).
mining IV for me. i finished mining III between last tests so was able to fit in a lot of learning this past test, including alchemy II.
though i wish i'd learned refining II overnight last night instead of queueing admixing, crystallography and tinkering II. but noooo i had to get fancy : \
alright alright im gonna be a good sport and post here
Last Skill: Mining II (still learning)
but could you at least make the title more professional :)
I focused on mining and gardening, mining for the gems (favor and money,) and gardening for the ability to grow a garden and to make harvesting trees much more efficient.
I decided it would be easier to increase my yields with the gardening skills before I got into cooking, it will be a lot easier to make a batch of smoothies if I can pick 24 cherries at a time.
I did the Alchemy ll skill while I was out of the game doing rl stuff (damn rl stuff :P ) and now I'm doing Transcendental Radiation - 3hrs and 58 mins to go on that one.
i don't follow .. you want to know why master chef is good?
it isn't really good. at least not yet.
it is the one skill that lets you make really high energy foods, although creating those foods requires a lot of energy and time going in, primarily in harvesting and the cooking itself.
master chef is good for transforming lower energy foods by adding energy in .. so you don't get much more energy out .. but you DO greatly increase the energy to stack size ratio. which is at least a little bit important since inventory is inherently limited.
the new cooking interface also GREATLY increases the convenience of using the skill, compared to before, where you'd have to go through a million time consuming menus just to prep the ingredients.
still doesn't make me want to take up cooking, but it is a serious step up if you are a serious chef.
it is actually pretty important to understand now, since it will help you better understand the changes when they happen .. and in the meantime you are helping the developers discover imbalances in gameplay, as well as discovering new ways to play the game.
LOL striatic, you crack me up. I set up Alchemistry II for myself but one neat trick I did was grabbed a lot of shorter(ish) ones in the last four or five hours and used small amounts of giant favor, when I had a lot, to speed the skill learning up now and then so I could fit more learning in before shutdown, as I knew I was needing to have Alchemistry II run once game went down.
Hey, striatic, can you explain what you meant by "queueing....(several skills you listed there)"?
i use this chrome extension by ping to load up a number of skills in a row, so that one ends the other begins.
it requires leaving the computer on and the browser open, but it means i can go to sleep or leave the house knowing that the entire time i'm away will be spent learning skills:
The queue stops once the game closes, though, doesn't it? People discussing this in the help channel were saying that they could keep learning skills after closing, but that didn't make sense to me.
I had to leave during the test, and got back after it ended, so I didn't get to start another skill. If I had, it would've been Alchemy II or Animal Kinship IV. I did finish Intermediate Admixing, it seems, so hopefully I'll have some shrine powders next time around.
I'm going to read your link, striatic and see if it makes sense to me. I guess I thought only the one skill you set up to go during downtime would finish...hmmm...(puts on thinking cap to head to link)...
@ striatic I set up Mining III
@glum pudding Yes the queue stops once the game is closed. Only the skill you are learning at the time of closing continues to learn :)
I love to cook and do, but once you have enough currents to comfortable buy food, it seems pointless other than just for the fun of it.:)
The game was crashing in my browser for the last 20 minutes of the test, so I was too busy trying to get back in game to start a new skill. Would've been Animal Kinship VI though!
