Glitch Street Directory extension

Tired of not being able to remember where streets are, and bouncing off this idea here alpha.glitch.com/forum/idea... I made this extension that should help temporarily (until another more awesome version of the maps appears).

Glitch Street Directory extension. Chrome only. bit.ly/gstreets

Does one thing and one thing only: helps you find which hub/region a street is in.

List of streets is updated manually. :( It's maintained in a Google docs spreadsheet, so contact me if you want to help keep it updated (especially if you're really big on new street projects).

  • Wooop! Nice one, ping. Btw, can your main page - glitch.li-ping.com/ or something link to other Glitchy bookmarklets you've made? :D

oh and how come it lists 185 streets in the directory, when some of us *points namely at Jade* have been to 200+ & are not devs?? alpha.glitch.com/leaderboar...

  • Hburger, I think each and every location counts as a 'street' if you go to the blocks of dwellings in each quarter you get points for visiting a new street, so I guess they count. I visitied every floor of Gregarious Grange and got xp points for every one!! The same goes for the residential blocks in the quarters.

  • ^ Went round all quarters last test, which is why I'm #10 now :3. Do you think individual houses count?!

  • Nifty! Thank you thank you!

Someday this functionality could be incorporated into the game and let you set as a destination the street one just located... (

  • Hm, I'm not sure about the missing streets. I basically scrapped the info off the Glitch location pages starting with Palindrone and then the adjacent streets... and then their adjacent streets.. and so on.

The quarters/blocks should be included (you can try searching for "quarters").

Could the missing ones be from Old Groddle? If anyone figures out what is missing, let me know.

@Hburger: Is the NDA lifted for stuff like this? I would gladly link it up if it is.

  • Wow, Ping, amazing! :D

I think the devs are hiding certain streets on purpose... Wintry Place isn't on the spreadsheet for instance, nor Rainbow Run...

  • They closed Old Groddle off before the last reset, and as far as I know, no-one has access to to the streets now. Quarters are included, yep.

Hmm, good point about the NDA. I mean as long as we don't share the link, I doubt anyone's gonna know to go to "glitch.li-ping.com" for details about the game...

  • Hburber, I think houses do count. I am pretty sure I have gotten points.

  • Hburger- I've been to all the open streets and every housing quarter.... that's how my count is so high :-).

  • ^That's what I spent all of last test doing! I didn't miss a single quarter or street!

  • I think Eglantine's nailed it. I checked Northern Passage alpha.glitch.com/locations/... and it doesn't show Wintry Place as connected to it.

I'm guessing the streets/places you visit through portals or quests, as opposed to the usual street sign jumps, aren't linked up.

  • ping, that's amazing.

might even be worth playing glitch in stuttery chrome just to use it ..eep!

  • Thanks everyone!

Sounds like I'm not the only one struggling to remember where the streets are. ;)

  • Wintry Place is mapped in the encyclopedia: alpha.glitch.com/locations/...

  • I've decided that Ping puts the "Ping" in "Pingcredible"...

  • Wow, months ago, devs already had search, current location and the new map style (kinda): goo.gl/LASEW

So, well, can we has search in-game? :)

  • I would be happy to retire this extension before the next test :D

I was thinking it could either a search or zoom in/out icon. Let's hope we get to see it next test!

  • I just wanted you to know I tried this out, the last quick test we had. It was so easy to use and I found it extremely useful.
Thanks Ping for making this :)

  • Thanks for letting me know, Misha!
Good to hear it worked well especially since I totally missed the recent tests. :(

  • Ping it worked perfectly. Especially as I had a friend who was trying to get me to where she was and could not figure out the map, so just told me what road she was in. Also when I looked at my friends locations, I could find out what area that was in with out having to sit there wasting time scanning maps. I'm hoping I can keep it ;)
