Account deletion question.

If I do the "delete my account" thing, is the whole account gone, or just the character?
If the account is gone, will I be able to re-register?

  • Heads up:

We are in a closed Beta, so re-registering is not an option without an invitation.

I believe that your whole account will be gone, and you will need to re-register.  I don't think you can send an invite to your current email address.

If you want an actual staff response, use the Help link at the top of this page to send the question directly to staff.  It's the weekend, and they may or may not see this before next week.

  • Make sure you issue an invite to another of your email addresses before closing your account if you want to start over with a new account.  As we have seen, i.e. when people admitted here in forum posts that they owned residential blocks full of bog houses, it's trivial to obtain additional email addresses.  Yahoo is particularly easy to open multiple email accounts on.  Back in the day on another game, Faunasphere, I knew of people that had fifty or more accounts.

  • They already pulled the kill switch.

  • Only thing I wanted was to reset my skills, really.
Created a new acc. and deleted the old one.
Not trying to gain an advantage by using multiple accounts. Is owning several accounts frowned upon by Tiny Speck?

  • Warren,
Before you go any further, you need to re-read the Community Guidelines here

And it's probably going to be useful if you read this thread:  Alts, Keys, and Rules

  • Well, I didn't do anything wrong as far as I can see from those two links you posted.
I deleted the old account and kept nothing from it.

It is usual for me in RPGs, online and offline, to restart with a new character as soon as I've got a grasp on how things work so i can craft a character the way I really want it.

If they do decide to ban me or suspend me, they might actually be doing me a favor; I'm liking this game too much. :P

  • Warren -
what you did is perfectly within the TOS.  Those of us who played in beta did the same thing - but because of the reset, not by using a new account.

  • From what I've read, they don't want to do more resets.
With that said, if a reset does happen, I'm going to feel a bit silly.

  • I don't think it was at all a 'before you go any further' situation.  By all means read the TOS.  Read forum posts if you choose, but reading the Forum is still optional.  It's refreshing to think there are successful high level players in the game who have never, ever, read the Forums.

Because of all the Resets that happened during the first Beta period, players who were here then would have a significant advantage over other players if we weren't allowed to Reset with new accounts.  They were here to learn how to effectively game the skill learning process and had the opportunity to be ready after the reset to learn skills at their optimal pattern.

It wouldn't be a bad idea for there to be a 'reset account' button in the Account settings so that people don't have to use a second email account and lose all their in-game Friends to reset their skill tree.

That's what I was hoping the "delete my account" option was.

Unfortunately, though not surprisingly, that was not the case.

  • That is why the word deleted is so misleading. When an account is deleted, it is not actually deleted. You cannot create a new character the same name as the "deleted" character because it is still in the database.

  • I think what you did was well within the Guidelines.

The "before you go any further" was simply a response to a long-time player asking about information that was contained in the CG.  If you have questions that are covered in the CG, it's prudent to re-read them.

The forum thread was a staff clarification that was related directly to the part of the CG you asked about.  Again, it's prudent to have as much information as possible about an issue you have publicly asked questions about.
