  • HA, I freaking love it! Do you think you could include who posted the auction lots?
Posted 20 months ago by Cupcake Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I don't agree with including who posts.  Some people are biased (Scowls at Cupcake).
Otherwise, bump bump!! This a brilliant idea, I love it!!

  • Um. Okay. That really wasn't the intended purpose :( It was just that it's a normal thing to implement, it wasn't so I could ensure I didn't buy from people I don't 'like'. And, just so you know, I'm not biased against anyone. I'm perfectly happy with being friends with you, Briar, and after you blocked me I did apologize for asking you to stop killing trees. Is there any way we can just put this behind us? :)

  • I would like to see who the auction is by... if it's a friend or someone i've seen around the game i would be more likely to buy... and i most likely wouldn't buy from someone that i've seen in the game but didn't click with, unless i just flat-out needed the item.

  • Also, this is no big deal, but noticed a few typos at bottom of page: i.imgur.com/YUWaE.png

  • Pretty darn awesome.
You can also see the seller under "More Info" for the top items.

  • @NathonG fantastic name fab idea. Well done you.
@Cup cake I agree with you for adding names. Personally I would not want to buy from some one I don't like. :)

  • Great tool! I have a small suggestion. The tool tells you how many currants the price is under or over the normal price, but it doesn't actually tell you the price of the item. Can you add that?
Posted 20 months ago by FrankenPaula Subscriber! | Permalink
  • FrankenPaula: if you click "more info," it'll say:

    Going rate: X currants
    Cost: X currants
    You save/You don't save: X currants

  • Very cool!
I would like to be able to search for a specific item (or at least sort the items by food/drink/tool/other category). The "list" is hard to navigate.
Would also like to create a registry - sign up for alerts on specific items (optionally, only when they are under a set price).
I agree with Paula that you want to see the price of the item without having to click "more info".

  • All - Thanks for the reviews!  I am glad to see they are overall positive.
I will go through and make changes based on what is suggested, keep those suggestions coming!

In general, I defiantly agree that the actual auction price should be listed outside of "more info". That's first on the list.
To reduce info on the main page, I would like to maintain sellers under "more info" unless you all feel it is more important?

Cupcake- I've fixed the typo's. Completely missed it ;P
Nevet-I agree, "Glutt List" needs some work.  It is still in beta :D. The search, and alerts feature is on the list to add.

keep those suggestions coming!  I will add features based on what you find important.
Keep in mind, we are still in development :D. Thanks!

  • As long as you're buying good deals you won't buy from Briar anyways :D

Something about 2k for 250 cherries....

  • It'd be lovely if Glutt used the Glitch font - RockoFLFBold/Arial Rounded MT Bold! Just a suggestion :)
Posted 20 months ago by Hburger Subscriber! | Permalink
  • I thought it was VAG Rounded?
Posted 20 months ago by dopiaza Subscriber! | Permalink
  • That's awesome. :)

I have an idea. Maybe you could let users nominate certain items as "Favourites" and keep one section aside for watching out for them and seeing how well they're priced.

  • Actually this would make a great greasemonkey script for when you're browsing the auctions normally. Just a little side-note by the item to say how expensive/cheap it is...  If only I know how to write greasemonkey scripts... :(

  • Nathan - if you share your source code with me, I can adapt Glutt to be a Greasemonkey script, like RealJimBob suggested.

  • I like it!

  • I've been quietly pushing several big updates throughout the week (using your suggestions!) which I would like to announce:
    - We are now located at: http://FeedYourGlutt.com/
    - 'Alert' was added. Follow @FeedYourGlutt on Twitter for the latest auction updates. More alert options coming soon!
    - 'List Glutt' was completely revamped with Sorting (by item) and Order (by expiration time, and best/worst deal). Search is coming soon!
    - And a few more little things :D.
Check them all out at: www.FeedYourGlutt.com/

I am still adding features, and defiantly using your input on what to add next.  If your suggestion has not been addressed in this release, look for it in the future.
As always, let me know your thoughts!
Also - Devs - let me know if I need to modify, stop, or change anything I am doing :D.

HBurger & dopiaza - I will look into adding the glitch font, thanks!
smange - an alert feature is in the works, using that verbage is a good idea.
RealJimBob- in the meantime, 'List Glutt' has the functionality your looking for, and more.
Lord Tweedmouth - I have a couple algorithms I am playing with to find deals. At the core, it requires the base cost (item definition) and the auction price (auction information). The API gives me both of those, so, I can figure it out. I am not sure how that would work in a grease monkey script without parsing the items encyclopedia entry page. I am not familiar enough with grease monkey to say if it is possible or not? With that, I am not sure if my code will be of help, but, I can try to get something together.
Everyone- Thanks for the comments, and suggestions. They are defiantly appreciated and being used!

  • How are you sorting best/worst deals? By actual difference from list price or by percentage difference? It looks to me like you're using actual difference per item, though I suspect that percentage difference gives a better idea of how great a deal it is (or isn't).

Edited to add "per item" as the multiple item auctions were confusing me.

  •   Nathan, your app is really good :) I loved it and tested it few days ago too.

In case if you are welcoming more ideas:
    - Categorize items based on glitch item encyclopedia.
    - Total number of a particular individual item in auction from all sellers. Example if I know there are 1000 potatoes being sold in total from different sellers, I might hold off auctioning mine.
    - Average auction price of each item based on past sales
    - Total number of auctions of a particular item till date
    - Smaller fonts and Glitch forum colors
    - I agree that profits should be based on %, or maybe you can provide both:based on % and based on actual currants.
    - Sorry if this was intentional, but 'coming soon' is misspelled under Search on the right.

Thank you again for sharing your creation with us !

  • Nathan - a Greasemonkey script is basically just a Javascript file that the browser can inject into certain pages.  Since it's possible to access the API from any page on the Glitch site, your app could be adapted.  I think I'll contact you privately, and we can see if we can proceed...
Posted 20 months ago by Lord Tweedmouth Subscriber! | Permalink
  • @RealJimBob-Your correct, right now it sorts by actual item difference.  I think a percentage is a good idea. I also wanted to include past auction data glutt has collected in there as well. My next task for glutt was playing around with calculating that. I was going to try to do it during this next test with a bunch of live data (unfortunately, my plate is completely full for the next few weeks ;P).  But, I agree, and that is the next thing to change, thanks for the suggestions on how best to do it :D.
@gia-thanks for all the remarks! I think their all great ideas. Currently, you can see the average auction price in List Glutt if there is more than one auction, and of course it is up for auction. Overall, Good stuff, thanks!
Tweedmouth-As mentioned its a busy couple of weeks, but, I will get in contact.

Thanks again for the comments! See more enhancements coming as soon as I can build them ;P.

  • Just a quick update:
I updated List Glutt with a new "Deal Finding" algorithm based the item difference percentage, and a total difference percentage.
Link: feedyourglutt.com/list.php (You will need to sort by best deal)
Let me know your thoughts on this new sort. thanks!
